Hi eds, thanks for everything, I know it must be a nightmare at times doing all this for us, just wondered if we were going to still look at a DCM in the summer or does BR think we have 2 now gerrard is playing in his new role and Lucas also plays DCM very well? This could also leave money in the pot for other positions if so.

Many thanks

{Ed001's Note - we are still looking for a central midfielder, not really a pure defensive one though.}

I 100% agree with this. We have played our best this year when playing 4-3-3. Rodgers finally wised up and instead of trying to find ways to accomodate both Suarez and Sturridge he just has us playing a good system and letting their talent speak for itself.

Now in the 4-3-3 we play, we've looked best with one holder and 2 younger, more energetic guys who can press. In the Spurs romp it was Lucas sitting deep with Henderson and Allen upfield. More recently it's been Gerrard sitting deep with Coutinho and Henderson upfield.

The only role Gerrard can play in this system is defensive midfielder. At his age he simply cannot play with the energy required of one of our advanced midfielders. So Gerrard has to be a defensive midfielder now. So that's one DM. Lucas is still a quality player, so that's 2. Plus Allen is capable of playing in that deeper role. In reality we are fine at DM, once you come to the realization that Gerrard is a DM.

This is why signing Konopolynka or Salah made sense. Rodgers knew he wanted to shift to this 4-3-3 (the system he's always preferred) and he knew he wanted to play Coutinho in midfield, rather than one of the 3 forward spots. This left us with really only Suarez, Sturridge and Sterling up front. Unless you want to give Aspas a lot of playing time, or Moses (and Moses is gone next year anyway). If one of those 3 starting forwards went down, it would force him to play Coutinho up front. However if we added an attacker, it would allow Coutinho to stay in midfield.

Essentially for the 3 midfield spots we have 5 players right now: Coutinho, Henderson, Gerrard, Allen, Lucas. That's not bad depth. We could use one more player, but we actually have more depth at MF than other areas. Once you come to the realization that for the most part Gerrard HAS to be a DM in this system and that Coutinho is going to play as part of the midfield triangle as opposed to playing as a forward.

The game is in doubt for Wednesday.
Fulham are concerned about the tube strikes.
A statement to be made tomorrow at 3pm to say if the game goes ahead.

Believable3 Unbelievable4

BBC has announced that the tube strike has been postponed. Won't happen tomorrow, so the game goes on.

Is the Fulham game really in doubt Eds?

Believable1 Unbelievable2

{Ed001's Note - there is a tube strike and so it could be difficult getting there, but so far nothing on it being in doubt.}

Any change on situation

{Ed001's Note - Fulham want the game postponed.}

Surely if the Arsenal games goes ahead the FA would have to seriously question Fulham's motives. They're knackered after Manchester United game, sure, but if Arsenal can get safety and crowd control staff to their ground (and they can't even get a back four to work well at the best of times) then surely Fulham can manage it too given they'll presumably need fewer staff at a smaller ground with small crowd.

Hi there Redmen, I know this area really well, where its really easy to get to, just follow the thames from the nearest tube open. The nearest tube to Fulham FC is Putney Bridge on the district line where if that isn't open then the nearest main station Hammersmith should be, then 20 minutes walk or the buses going in that direction. Whatever happened to Will Hughes? He'll be a perfect addition for the future, big fan of Liverpool and its recent history. The next Gerrard.
Do we have first-option on him?

Believable69 Unbelievable5

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool has the option to pair a fair amount for him - which has been putting everyone off.}

Does that include Wisdom going the other way?

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - He is simply on loan.}

Do you mean a fairly large amount? or 'fair' as in an amount that is what he is probably worth?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Large.}

Is it close to 15million
