Any transfer rumours regarding soldado, here or anywhere else?

Pretty sure he signed a new long term deal in the summer. He would cost a lot to buy especially in Jan.

Just a personal question for the eds, are there any journalists or newspapers that you feel are more accurate than others? {Ed001's Note - as a newspaper, the Guardian used to be the most accurate. As for journalists, it really depends on what particular area they are talking about. The vast majority are a waste of time, but some do offer insight into some things. Guillem Balague, for instance, is very close to Rafa, so anything regarding Rafa, that he talks about, is almost certainly from Rafa's mouth. You just have to take everything with a pinch of salt to be honest.}

All thing liverpool its tony barrett, tony evans and ben smith (works for bbc now) for nationals but james pearce who works for the echo also reliable

11 Dec 2012 12:48:41
Indeed, Ballague proclaimed on twitter the day before Rafa went to Chelsea that there had been absolutely no approach in response to Rory Smith's Times article earlier that day.

Less than 24 hours later, Rory's article appears to be 100% on the money. Ballague considering his much played on inside links, gets loads wrong.

My preferred journo's, for what it is worth, are Rory Smith, Ian Herbert and Dion Fanning, they are the future of their trade and their rise cannot come soon enough.

The worst in terms of bias and a total lack of any moral integrity are Martin Samuel (a brilliant, yet very bitter writer) Oliver Holt, David Maddock and the relicsome Patrick Barclay. All men with axes to grind when it comes to LFC.

Considering their LFC allegiance, the 2 Tony's, Barrett and Evans, are a bad let down as well. The likes of Daniel Taylor has no problem betraying his Utd allegiences at every opportunity, but Tony 1 and 2, appear reluctant and almost embarrassed at times to back their team.

Further proof that upping sticks to London, turns Scousers into bad bad sellout, establishment approval craving persons

hello

news doing the rounds in bilaoa is that iker munainian is availiable and liverpool may follow up earlier interest in the young forward. any chances eds?

cheers slim steve {Ed001's Note - I really would doubt he would choose us, as things stand. It would need the club selling to him, very difficult when the net is full of moaning Liverpool fans whining because we aren't 20 points clear at the top of the league. It doesn't create a good impression for potential buys that have the pick of a number of top clubs.}

If LFC needs selling to a player I dont want him here no matter who he is.

I think playing along side or infront of Suarez sells itself!

I guess Liverpool fans will stop moaning on the internet when the current squad lives up to it's perceived reputation.

Until then, or until we buy players who actually make a difference, things won't change. We're a fickle bunch.

Ed that's a bit harsh. I go over from dublin every chance i get.Do not epect to be twenty points clear but do feel 4th is very achievable.

Thanks {Ed001's Note - how is it harsh? Have you not read the whines on here after every game? Even when we win, the fans just target a player to bitch at. It is pathetic now, we should be better than that.}

Well said Ed001,We all know were not firing on all cylinders,but results are coming,players improving(inc Coles' last 2)So lets start supporting the boys!

Have to agree with Ed on That and since when have we had a squad of players that should be top 4? We have possibly the thinnest squad in the EPL and Rodgers is drafting in unknown youngsters left right and centre.I think it is a credit to him and the players that we are still in with a shout of top 4.
CR

Couldn't agree more with Ed. We aren't in an ideal place but that said we are only 4 points off 4th place with a decent run of games coming up.

As much as this is not really relevant now, the goals against Everton and Swansea, had they stood, we'd be joint 4th now. Add to them the penalties Suarez should have been awarded, which instead resulted in yellow cards, could have yielded another 4 points or so too.

We have Kelly and Borini coming back in the New Year along with any new acquisitions. It isn't all that bad...........be positive!

Sterling will sign a new contract..

Also the senior players have been asked their thoughts on Sturridge..

No more info to report..

Cheers

Macca
{Ed033's Note - Confirmed as the real Macca

Lets hope the senior players were honest and integral with there replies.

"Don't sign him, he's crap"

My understanding is that Sturridge is just a smokescreen.

Brad

11 Dec 2012 01:51:05
Macca would you perhaps be able to give us insight on what the general reaction was about Sturridge? Personally I think he's a bad egg.

11 Dec 2012 01:53:02
Cheers Macca, appreciated as always. I understand the likes of Gerrard and others may get the nod for imput about his attitude etc but dont you think it's worrying that this is a player our management should be able to decide on themselves as he's selfish cocky arrogant to start, ok he scored goals for Bolton but I watch him for Chelsea and he's full of himself. I would really be disapointed if we waste 12million on this chump.

Sturridge for 6/7mill yes sturridge for 12/15mill no

Can't wait for all of you to start eating your words on Sturridge if he signs he will be brilliant for us.

I too believe sturridge wil be a gud signing. Players who r most expected wil let u down, while players v doubt always gives the best. Thr r lot of examples, but for two names i can say carroll and downing even torres. K leave all that, u giv so many excuses on sturridge and stil y do u think the manager is interested in signing him? Cos he's crap, huh? No. I believe Liverpool wil go for the right players unlike last season.

What does it matter how much a player costs?
If he's good, he's good at 3 million or 30 million, the same is true if he's rubbish.
It amazes me how fans are so fixated on transfer fees but never mention players wages.
The same is true for judging the manager o how much money he spends.
Can we please stop fixating on money and focus more on the quality of the player/manager.

He's a good player. Good luck to the lad. This convinces me more that this is a team for the future.

DaveyBootle

Why the hell are they asking the players?
No wonder we have been in trouble for so long. Did Shanks use to ask the players you think??

I don't getting when people talk about a smokescreen. Really?

BR is going to ask the senior players about Sturridge and that's a smokescreen for the purchase of other strikers. Really?

If that's the truth then BR and FSG should put in an application for a job with the national secret security agency because that's brilliant. Lol. "Shhhhhh - don't tell anybody, shhhhhhhh! Just tell everyone Sturridge will come but Messi will be here any day now." Haha.

Thanks mate your a ledge , by "senior players" i take it you mean stevie and jamie ! any info on the reactions ? any info from you is great thanks for your time pal............andy.

Really hope we do go with sturridge. I think he'll do well.

11 Dec 2012 09:24:01
Haha eat our words the guy is toilet..paper.money should be better spent..have we not learned our lesson.just dont buy english players,average compared to the spanish league where you can get real quality and value for money

11 Dec 2012 09:54:36
Hi Macca, are we looking at any non-English strikers at the moment please? If yes, who are they?

Cheers, DAP Red

11 Dec 2012 10:24:43
cheers Macca, good to see you back!

11 Dec 2012 10:26:59
Thanks Macca, as for the complainers, please get behind the manager and team whoever we sign as BR is hardly going to sign anybody that doesn't fit the system especially with how little money we have!

My Info is 110% correct. What i'm hearing here in the states from a pal of mine who works for FSG, is that Llorente and Walcott are very strong targets.. Sturridge is a double smokescreen!!

Brad

Weren't the senior players made up for Robbie Keane to sign? And Joe Cole? I don't have a lot of confidence in our recruitment strategy if this is how it is going to be done.

LIVERPRES

With Gerrard, Downing and Johnson they will have all trained with him for England. And Allen same with the olympics. It's not a bad idea to see how his attitude was whilst training. Personally i reckon he'd be good for quite a few goals.

RobInRed

11 Dec 2012 13:22:31
Cheers for the info Macca glad Sterlings going to be signing a new deal!

11 Dec 2012 12:42:30
Cheers Macca, do you think it'll be any 2 from Sturridge/Ba/Walcott?

He has talent but he left city for chelsea for more money its that simple and i well believe he is demanding 80 k a week and to play central so for a reported fee of 13 million and 80 k a week i would say hell no why dont our scouts actually get up do there jobs and find better players for half of what sturridge would cost whether it be europe south america asia africa or central america get up and do your jobs SCOUTS,mark

Please no to sturridge!

11 Dec 2012 19:30:48
I think what Macca means is that BR has asked all players involved in the England + GB set to find out whether there are any attitude and/or disciplinary issues, rather than on field abilities (which are the work of the scouts).

10 Dec 2012 22:48:17
Eds me mates r saying we could be getting van wolfswinkel any truth in this I think he is a good player {Ed002's Note - No, I would not think so.}

10 Dec 2012 21:44:30
Eds fellow reds , have you heard anything on the report in the express where BR wants to get Sanchez from barca . {Ed001's Note - not happening.}

10 Dec 2012 21:33:58
Attacking targets are Huntelaar, Walcott, Ba, Jeffren, Sanchez, Ince.

A midfielder was on the agenda but Henderson has forced his way back into Rodgers' plans.

A defender is very much a possibility though, with Coates going out on loan. Then he'll come back in the summer after Carragher has put his boots up and it will happen.

10 Dec 2012 21:53:43
Thanks , you've just stated all the targets from the last few days paper talk. Cheers.

Alex Pearce is being mentioned. But I'd like Ramos or Hummels

So buy a defender send coates on loan so hes ready when carra retires wwouldnt buyin the new defender make him fourth choice again so pointless sending him on loan might as well sell if hes only going on loan as hes fourth choice waiting for carra to retire buyin a def would make him fouth choice again lol

He often gets in ahead of carra!!

I think we should get a defender as well but not center back, it's a full back. Enrique is being pushed up, Johnson can play on either side and we need someone to fill in the gap in the flanks.

10 Dec 2012 21:24:05
Not that it is of particular importance to our teamsheet as Brad Jones did great filling in for Reina when he was needed, but does anyone actually have any idea what has gone on with Doni? Seems pretty strange that we've not heard anything about him?

JFT 96

JP

Isn't he on 'personal leave'. He's gone back to the homeland.

10 Dec 2012 21:19:54
Ed how bothered is Sahin? Heard rumblings he is very unhappy and not being played as much or in the position he wants? String puller at Dortmund {Ed001's Note - as far as I am aware he just wants to play, but he is not causing issues that I have been told about. I would be disappointed in any player who wasn't asking the manager why he had been dropped and trying to argue his case to play in the next match.}

Sounds like hes happy recieving a hefty pay check, for sitting on the bech {Ed001's Note - not in the slightest, did you not read what I said? He wants to play, not watch from the bench, but he is not causing issues, just asking to play.}

Sahin had a chance and blew it. Gerrard, Allen, Lucas, Shelvey, and Henderson are all ahead of him maybe now even cole

I must have missed something.
Sahin the loast time i recall seeing him was pretty damn good!

I remember a lot of you saying he was a footballing god and how he would save our season! lol

Personally i rate him very highly and think sometimes supporters give players from overseas about 2-3 games to perform miracles!

gareth

He's been injured...he said in an interview that he'd prefer to play deeper than he has been, but that hardly translates to deep unhappiness

Red Ollie

Give him a break ppl!! It took Lucas how long to win the LFC fans over?? And this lad has come in from another country on loan to play! How many games so far! jesus! There sno such thing as instance success. Hes a talent! and young.

Ed002 are the Danish media generally bad informed? You keep mentioning our national star C. Eriksen are mostly followed by Milan. But our media says that United and Liverpool are the most interested. I think most danes arent interested in Italian football.

{Ed002's Note - Off the top of my head I recall Henrik Larsen, Christian Poulsen, Michael Laudrup and Brian Laudrup all playing in Italy. I have explained in great detail who has been interested and what the player has suggested:

Liverpool, Manchester City, Arsenal, Chelsea, Bayern Munich, Spurs, Inter and AC Milan have shown some level of interest in Eriksen in the past year or so. He has already rejected both Manchester City and Chelsea but AC Milan remain the most interested club and Manchester City may well return for him again. Back in July the Milan Press Office were convinced of interest from Manchester United and they have let it be known that they expected a bid to be made by for Eriksen. Expect both Milan clubs and Roma to press if a bid is made by Manchester United. The player remains adament that he will stay in Amsterdam for18 more months before moving to Spain but would likely jump at the chance of a move to Real Madrid or Barcelona if the opportunity arises. Ajax will not let him run down his contract.}

When did Henrick Larsson play in Italy... He's also Swedish not Danish! Sorry ed!
MIKEYRED {Ed002's Note - The Dane, Henrik Larsen, was at Pisa at the same time as Diego Simone in, I would guess, the early 1990s. I think you are thinking of someone else entirely.}

When did Henrick Larsson play in Italy? {Ed001's Note - I don't believe anyone mentioned the Swedish striker Henrik Larsson in a conversation about Danish players. No wonder we get so many repetitive posts, even when the posts are read they aren't read properly!}

I think the poster was referring to Danish football fans who aren't interested in Italian football..

Did you by any chance mean Martin Laursen, who played for AC Milan, since Henrik Larsson is Swedish and to my knowledge has only ever been to Italy on holiday? {Ed002's Note - No, I meant Henrik Larsen - which is what I wrote.}

Ed002 is correct, took me about ten seconds to google that.. Wonder why others don't seem to put that level of effort in rather than trying to prove ed wrong.. Don't forget to use te correct name spelling when you try and prove me wrong also, unless I have acceptance for being a Liverpool fan?

SideShowBob

The danish media is useally realy well informed, the thing is everything that comes from ekstrabladet the news paper is realy rubbish, they post old stories, wich is one of the reasons, they keep mentioning milan, however inter milan has been said to be interested as a replacement for schneider, but C eriksen commented on that, saying he wasnt like him, and that story has been running for way to long.

Ah fair play ed... It's not about proving the ed wrong, easy mistake I thought that ed meant the Henrick Larsson that played for celtic Barca etc... Calm it side show snob
MIKEYRED

Tomasson aswell fro AC Milan..

Ed02 just to clarify something. You said Sturridge is not in his final 6 months of his deal, in a recent post and in multiple posts for months. Do you know where people have this perecption?

Is it a scenario like Bosingwa's/Berbatov's was, where the club have a year extension option they can exercise if needs be, or has he purely for 18 months left and the media are mid-informed?

Thanks in advance.

Papa G {Ed002's Note - I don't know of any media that are misinformed or have any strange perceptions - that seems to be the remit of Liverpool supporters.}

No need 2 be rude or derogatory Ed002. I could make a few perceptions with regard to Chelsea fans but don't as it's unnecessary. We just want the best for our club. No need for cheap digs. {Ed002's Note - Try not to be a complete jerk, people find it embarrassing.}

10 Dec 2012 20:35:29
Plenty of media outlets are misinformed. There are dozens of incorrect transfer rumours each day. Liverpool fans are the most knowledgeble of the lot by a mile. A new generation of internet fans make us look bad. {Ed002's Note - The question was about contract lengths not transfer rumours. Most of the media have that data available in a software package they subscribe to and it would be no more than them being lazy and not checking as it is accurate well beyond 99% of the time.}

Just out of interest, who do you support ed 002? I hope everyone appreciates the work you put in, its a great site {Ed002's Note - This year I support Chelsea.}

To be fair Ed, I was asking out of respect of your knowledge on football matters and in particular Chelsea, with you being a long term fan.

I had looked online, but as you often say websites like Wikipedia, are often false, ao I was hoping to get info that's 100% accurate.

The question I asked wasn't answered, that's fair enough it's your decision not to answer, but as a long term user and poster I don't think their was any need for the sarcastic response.

Papa G {Ed002's Note - Thanks - and I apologise for the response if it offended. Sturridge's contract runs until June 30 2014.}

Thanks very much Ed. I wasn't offended I know the countless, mindless questions you have to answer everyday, likely lead to bouts of depression, anxiety and possibly a little sarcasm.

Mine was fairly harmless.

Papa G {Ed002's Note - You forgot me being bewildered most of the time. Thanks.

Ed002 that was a ....but your not gunna post this are u but as long as YOU have read it am happy! {Ed001's Note - unfortunately he didn't read it, I did and you proved his point. Don't bother coming back.}

10 Dec 2012 19:33:53
eds,
could higuain be a target?he has hardly had a game lately benzema is madrid main starter and callejon second.
he will cost but the way we play he could make the difference,he is a real class finisher.
and only 24years.
i would spend the little money we have on him,suarez hanging on the left cutting inside and sterling on the right.
proberly just dreaming {Ed002's Note - I would think Higuain moving to Liverpool in January is unlikely.}

His stats are something else. He assists so much along with scoring. I know it is unlikely but its nice to dream sometimes.

Cudge

Any chance for Higuain for a summer move or is it a "no", unless we get a Champions League place and change to "maybe"? {Ed002's Note - The summer is a long way off.}

From what I've been told he is not keen on prem football at all. He was starting to come round to the idea of moving to chelsea a while ago but the interest dipped. Can't see him moving to england to be honest, he's always been adament that he will not leave madrid and some members of the hierarchy are supporters of his.

have you heard any news regarding Christian Eriksen. said he wanted to stay for one more year, i think he'd be just what we need in the CAM position.

have we looked into Alexander Kacaniklic, young striker who knows where the net is.

also i hear people mention Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, not seeing much in regards to media hype about him... could be the special signing we're looking to make

lastly i hear going to go head to head with juventus for young Argentinian Luciano Vietto from Racing Club de Avellaneda in Argentina...

thanks Eds'

Slim {Ed002's Note - (1) Liverpool, Manchester City, Arsenal, Chelsea, Bayern Munich, Spurs, Inter and AC Milan have shown some level of interest in Eriksen in the past year or so. He has already rejected both Manchester City and Chelsea but AC Milan remain the most interested club and Manchester City may well return for him again. Back in July the Milan Press Office were convinced of interest from Manchester United and they have let it be known that they expected a bid to be made by for Eriksen. Expect both Milan clubs and Roma to press if a bid is made by Manchester United. The player remains adament that he will stay in Amsterdam for18 more months before moving to Spain but would likely jump at the chance of a move to Real Madrid or Barcelona if the opportunity arises. Ajax will not let him run down his contract. (2) I am not aware of any interest from Liverpool or anyone else in Kacaniklic since Liverpool let him move to Fulham as part of the deal that took Paul Konchesky to Liverpool (i am still awaiting someone suggesting buying him back) - are you sure you are thinking of the correct player? (3) I am not sure how you have missed the hype on Aubameyang - a player who is aked about on a daily basis on these pages. But once more: After a year at St Etienne Aubameyang has attracted the attention of Manchester City, Newcastle, Aston Villa, Spurs and PSG, probably amongst others. He has said in the past the one day his dream would be to return to play with a great Milan side. I don't see him leaving the Geoffroy-Guichard in January. (4) Luciano Vietto was one of the South American players that Liverpool took a look at last summer. There has also been interest shown by Palermo and Real Madrid but I know nothing of interest from Juventus right now.}

The player we gave to Fulham in exchange for Konchesky and cash was none other than Lauri Delavalle. Excuse the spelling. Its not Kacaniklik. {Ed002's Note - Ok apologies. But somehow he made his way from Liverpool to Fulham as I recall.}

It was both of them

Ed002 is right - both Kacaniklic and Dalla Valle were used in part exchange in the Konchesky deal

Brendan Rodgers stayed down in London to agree a deal for a striker last night. This come from a current players mouth.

Dan

Unfortunately it is Sturridge.

Finally, Carlton Cole is on his way.

YEEEESSSS!!! I can't see a better replacement for Andy Carroll other than Carlton Cole!

Good bit of business by the manager there.

10 Dec 2012 19:38:01
I hope its not sturridge, another over priced waste of money, he has got joe cole volume 2 written all over it, there has got to be better strikers out there that are for sale in the price that's being thrown about for him,

It can't be sturridge, he should be in japan.

Anyone, anything, but Sturridge. Apart from Bent, that is. A pair of donkeys best suited to the beach at Blackpool.

Djibril on his way back is he! who you on about?

Stop goin for these forwrds like cole an sturriidge we dont want over paid pub players

Been waiting to find out who it is but surely it can only be sturridge or Walcott. The same person also told me that Huddersfield made an enquiry for downing but he's laughed it off.

Dan

The player is Mario Balotelli on loan

Yep Balotelli plays for the london based club man city! Please dont sign daniel sturridge - if we do I bet we pay about 15 million for him. Clubs must love it when liverpool fc pick up the phone - suprised we havent bought benson and hedges for a combined fee of 68 million!!!!!

Dan i know a few Huddersfield fans and im sure they would not want him either.

FowlerGod.

Who andy Carroll

Ballotelli and Suarez, the media are going to love us Lol!

I have no doubt that sturridge can be a top striker and hit 20 a season..given time! But i think his attitude stinks. Hes greedy and i think he has a better chance of causing unrest within the squad than scoring 20 goals a season. Its a big risk for me! And will BR play him down the middle like he moaned about at Chelski or wide? If down the middle then where will suarez play? Wide right?

10 Dec 2012 17:21:36
Hey Eds is there any truth in the markovic rumours because today was the first time I saw it in the paper and a few days ago on this sight somebody said they had inside info on him coming and now its in papers ¿? {Ed002's Note - Lazar Markovic is a young Serbian footballer who has attracted the attention of Milan, Fiorentina, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Bayer Leverkusen and Espanyol in the past. I don't know of any recent interest from Liverpool. The player is keen to move to Chelsea and a move in January is possible, but no fee has been agreed with Partizan Belgrade who may price him out of the market.}

Nice one man sound ¡!

Very,very overrated kid !

10 Dec 2012 17:06:15
i just got back from spain my cousin lives there. he has legitimate contacts with barcalona and has heard that alexis sanchez is a possibility. he said that liverpool have been keeping tabs. a possible loan maybe. whats your verdict eds?

Dave {Ed002's Note - I would not expect Sanchez to leave in January.}

10 Dec 2012 17:03:17
Last summer deadline day, you were all speculating about Lenadro Damaio. Will that come to fruition this January eds? {Ed002's Note - There has been no link to Damiao either in the summer or now.}

Not according to Ed022

31 Aug 2012 21:54:32 {Ed022's Note - WellI'll put itlikethis. In the morning we entered negotiations with Damiao and that deal looked possible, we also entered negotiations with Sturridge and we were told if he wasn't on the bench he would sign for Liverpool. However, this was not to be. Dempsey was 99% nailed on, until Liverpool's owners decided they didn't want to pay a penny more than their bid, therefore we lost him. He was desperateto cometo us, but because of their stubborn attitude it was not to be. Now we are completelyundermanned, and Rodgers was liedto.Simpleasthat.}

{Ed002's Note - Perhaps someone misled Ed022. There were no negotiations with Damiao. There were no negotiations with Sturridge. There was a request made by Liverpool to enquire about the availability of Sturridge on loan. That request was made via Sturridge's agent and it was explained to him that he was not available for loan. Liverpool have now made a further enquiry to Chelsea about buying Sturridge - and this has been explained on plenty of occasions.}

It was deadline day, many get misled at some point on those days.

If only more people used the search function!

10 Dec 2012 16:21:27
Eds what's the crack with home grown players? Is there a certain amount that need to be in the squad? Or the starting line up? I remember a little being said about it.

Cheers in advance marc {Ed002's Note - It is the other way around. There is a limit of 17 non home grown player over 21 in a squad up to a maximum size of 25 over 21s. Therefore if you have a squad of 18, you need at least one HG player over 21, 19 you need two etc..}

I thought each team needed five over 24 home grown players but a team which only had 18 needed at least two
LP

Well liverpool will be okay great to see so many british playeres at liverpool

10 Dec 2012 19:50:18
I cant help feeling that the following people read this rule and got the wrong end of the stick:

Rafe Benetiz
Kenny Daglish
That person with the Bouffant

Remember back in the Summer where several LFC fans were raving about Gaston Ramirez and how FSG should get him. Imagine if FSG had paid the price stated for Ramirez. Decent player but not worth 20 million euros. Trust Board and Technical team. Keep the faith! LFC Supporter and SC Shareholder

How about Gilfy and Hoillett? I am actually one who wanted both at the club and clearly they wouldn't have necessarily done better than the players at the club now.

Canadian Fan

Ramirez cost only 12 million pounds i think, and he looks a very tidy player. we could defiantly do with him in our squad {Ed002's Note - I explained exhaustively over the summer about Ramirez. Perhaps time to accept he was never moving to Liverpool.}

Southampton got him for a lot less. We could have also. He is worth £12mill they bought him for. Especially if we where willing to purchase Allen for more than the £15mill paid for him. I was one of those people raving on about gaston Ramirez. Evidence suggests i was correct in doing so. Would be so much more effective than Allen. I like Allen but he doesn't bring much of an attacking threat. He does good defencive work but so does Henderson. The idea of playing 3 players in the midfield is to have an CAM (gerrard, shelvey) a box to box play maker (sahin, ?) which alonso and xavi are great examples off. And finally a CDM (Lucas, ?). Henderson and Allen really puzzle me. They have bits and pieces of each quality but none of them are a complete player. Gaston Ramirez would have been a more effective buy especially as he would have a higher resale value evidently.

Yeah and imagine if the owners and board etc stumped up an extra 1 mil for Clint? We'd have probably scored more goals and be higher in the league. So in the board I don't trust.

10 Dec 2012 15:38:41
Espn are stating that Arsenal are very close to securing a cut-price deal for Huntelaar? Heard anything about this eds? {Ed002's Note - An offer has been made but there is no acceptance at this time. There is however a reasonable chance of a deal being agreed.}

Oh dear, I feel sorry for you eds you know whats going to happen if we don't sign him. People will be saying we missed out on the player, that FSG wont spend money. Have fun!! {Ed002's Note - To be fair, it has been explained that the chances of him signing for Liverpool are slim.}

Another striker, does this mean Walcott may be off after all then Ed? Have to say thought he was going to stay myself. {Ed002's Note - REgardless of Walcott, Arsenal has an interest in Huntelaar.}

Let arsenal have him

Shame, would have liked to see him play with suarez.

Considering he partnered Suarez at Ajax, and is a goal machine! it's fair to say i for one will be very unhappy if we don't buy him.

So is that yes or no!

I think its shocking that Arsenal can attract aplayer of huntelaars quality but we cant! Whats going on there?

Other than champions league football, we are a bigger club and are moving in the right direction!

10 Dec 2012 14:45:51
Any truth in the Samaras rumours?

Cheers Ads {Ed002's Note - I know nothing of it.}

Neil Lennon is confident of keeping Georgios Samaras at Celtic despite reported interest from Liverpool. The Reds are desperate to land at least one striker in the January transfer window and reports have claimed they are lining up a move for Samaras
This has got to be paper talk. If this was to be the quality we are looking to build with then I fear for the future. Has to be a wind up, please God.

Any news on interest in Henrik Mkhytarian? {Ed002's Note - Shakhtar's Mkhitaryan is of interest to Lazio and Juventus but is unlikely to move in January.}

Hi Eds will liverpool go for a class forward like cavani or hunterlarr or pay over the odds for sturridge who is a load of rubbish? jay {Ed002's Note - Try the search function Jay.}

Before Michu came to EPL you'd have said he was crap and worthless!!

Fair point but if danny sturridge was that good wouldent he be playing for chelsea week in week out everyone knows that foreign players are better than english players anyway! {Ed002's Note - He is out injured.}

Huntelaar isnt world class

Look how many goals hes scored he is world class if hes not world class then you dont follow football

Eds he still wasent playing week in week out when he was fit !he is not a world class striker we will pay over the odds like we did with downing an if hes as good as some people say why inst barcelona real madrid man u coming if with bids aswell? {Ed002's Note - You are correct he is not a "world class" striker, few are.}

Hi eds
heard a lot of rumours over the last couple of days

Leo Baptistao - Rayo
Takashi Inui - Frankfurt
Alfred Finnbogason - Heerenveen

are a few of them, any interest from us or are they just rumours?
{Ed002's Note - I can't help, sorry.}

10 Dec 2012 13:31:52
I am sure this is not true, cou's it would mean Liverpool has done some actuall scouting, and i don't remember 'Pool doing that since Rafa. Not at senior level anyway.

10 Dec 2012 12:48:02
hey eds any interest in Benat etxeberia? {Ed002's Note - If, as is likely, Benat moves Atletico Madrid is an option. Arsenal and Wolfsburg have shown some interest in him. Txiki Begiristain has, as reported, an interest in taking him to Manchester City.}

10 Dec 2012 12:29:29
the dutch press are saying ajax wants Mauro Caballero paraguay a 18 year old striker.
i just read that porto and liverpool seem to interested in him too.
maybe all the names we are suggesting sturrugde walcot ect ect are not in the long time plans.
maybe Fsg wants to buy the in the range of 18/19 before they fit the big stage.
ajax and porto do it that way they both have a problem keeping them because of their league.
we wont have that problem,this could be the right way.
it will leave us with more money to buy that marquee signing once in a while
MALTA {Ed002's Note - Chelsea and Bayern Munich had representatives looking at Paraguay's Mauro Caballero at the March 2011 CONMEBOL in Ecuador. His performances, particularly in a qualifying game against Chile, were seen to be impressive and he is one of a number of players from that tournament that the club are aware of or have shown interest in. Offers from Benfica and Inter Milan are both complex in nature with one a part ownership deal and the other a part ownership deal involving three other players as well. If a move in January begins to look likely I would suspect that Chelsea and Bayern Munich might rekindle their interest with offers that include leaving him on loan for a while, and cash offers could be made by both Manchester City and Palermo who have looked at the player but not followed up their interest.}

BR is hoping to finalise a deal for Sturridge the first week of January and is targeting Roberto Soldado to join before the end of the window too. Both have the option of playing anywhere across a front 3 with Suarez.

Borini and Sterling will make up the 5 player senior strike force to cover the front 3 positions.

The deals have been issued priority and are expected to be completed pending further details during the window with expediancy.

Liverpool will not enter into a bidding war for Huntelaar who has still been unable to make a decision on his future and do not want a repeat of the summer transfer window.

Osmax.

Reasonable post

10 Dec 2012 18:24:41
Soldado?
Did he sign an extended contract in the summer?
Plus, he has CL to play? Wanna sell in Jan? {Ed002's Note - He signed a new contract, yes.}

Huntellar has no interest in Liverpool, he is already playing in the Champions League and will not relegate himself. Please can you stop linking this player to LFC it's never going to happen.

Hey eds.
any chance of a list to show Liverpools targets so I don't have to keep reading rubbish about alonso bent samaras etc.
thanks for your help keep up the great work
Regards Keith {Ed002's Note - A couple of guys have summarised well over the past couple of windows and I would not be surprised to see them make an appearance again soon.}

I agree, too much is being said on your website about different strikers without any substance. LFC will probably get Sturridge as Benitez does not need him and the odd other middle of the road loan signing. Does everyone recall Chelsea offered us Sturridge for 5m as part of the Torres deal and we turned it down and paid 35m for Carroll instead. I think we are probably the worst team in Europe from a business point of view in terms of buying and selling players and the level of total incompetence of Ayres/FSG during the summer transfer window was shameful.

10 Dec 2012 11:53:56
Heard a bit about us going in for alexis Sanchez of Barcelona might sound daft but apparently Rodgers has sent scout to look at him possible loan deal and big signing in January?

If that happens i will take my hat off to him but it will never happen when hes been given more match time now and Barca paid top dollar for him.

FowlerGod.

I'll bet so barca are Laghing their aspe off

Come on

Get Real

No I don't mean Alonso

Hi EDs great site,

Would be grateful for your insight please, it is rumoured that Joe Cole could be on his way to QPR,is there any chance that Cisse could come the other way. I am not saying for one minute that this would be good business just that money would seem to be an issue so perhaps Cisse until the end of the year is a thought being played with at the moment. Just wondering what your thoughts are.

Regards {Ed001's Note - no.}

Ridiculous wat planet ar u living on. Where's the logic in gettin Cole and his wages off the books only to get cisse and his wages in

10 Dec 2012 10:16:02
Hi Eds,

Great Site. Supremely addictive.

I had a question. With all this talk going on about possibly getting Sturridge, or Walcott, what happened to out supposed interest in Demba Ba? Has that option been discarded for good? Also, how about trying to move in for Papiss Cisse? Newcastle aren't exactly setting the league on fire right now, and even if both these guys are cup tied for the EL, having them in the squad for the rest of the domestic season would be fantastic.

What do you guys think? Other readers also please share what your opinions are on this matter.

Cheers

Ray {Ed002's Note - I understand that Newcastle are still likely to get an offer for Demba Ba from Galatasaray and that there may be interest from Anzhi Makhachkala. It is possible he will move but he would look for a Champions League side. I am also not so sure that he would slot in to the way Rodgers is looking to play without the side adapting. And he could be expensive to buy for a non-CL side. There has been no interest shown in Cisse.}

Thanks for the reply Ed. Really appreciate it.

Samaras to Liverpool in January from Celtic is a done deal apparently

Ha ha ha ha ha, nice one, made me laugh

Flintshire Red

Ha-ha-ha hhhmmm why would we buy a guy who couldnt cut it with City and moved to an easy league and still struggles!

This should be defiantly be in dodgy rumours.

FowlerGod.

Hahahhaha hes rubbish

I'll add this to the other "done deals" for Sturridge, Walcott, Ba, loan for Keane(!), Long, and Hooper. Should have no shortage of strikers come the title run in...! :)

You misunderstood the deal mate. We signed a deal with him so he would never come to Liverpool.

And "apparently" women find me irresistable but that rumour is rubbish too!

The Plank

Liverpool Ladies perhaps....

Samaras had a bad time at city because he was bullied for having a bad game the then manager pearce use to shout abuse in his face pearce is a terrible manager ask any city fans this and they will tell you he is a decent player works his socks of and can play wide as well as upfront he scores vital goals for celtic like the 1 in moscow he reminds me of kuyt,mark

Samaras is a poor mans Nicholas bendtner without the ego, he unlike bendtner realises he's crap so the spl is the ideal league.

Samaras is a donkey with a capital D hes lazy not mobil enough id eat my hat if this were true if the eds read this although its not a rumour but can you tell me if we have shown any interest in Martyn Waghorn of leicester city he looks a great talent what is your opinion thanks keep up the great work chaps from a plymouth long time RED

Liverpool will get Darren Bent on loan in Jan, thats it as we are being priced out of the Sturridge deal both on the transfer fee and wage demands. Walcott wont come, he will sign a new deal. FSG yet again to show they aren't willing to put up the money and see Bent as the ideal short term solution.

Bent is not good enough for us.Anyhow Villa want to sell him and the asking fee is 18M.

You know all this HOW??? Jees lets see what happens before we start condeming the owners.
I for one think we will be ok, Im not saying any really big names will sign but i think we will be surprised.
I am just guessing i dont have any inside info like most people on here seems to have.
Bobby.

Yes really, what did FSG spend in Kennys first year !

GET A GRIP

"Yes really, what did FSG spend in Kennys first year !

GET A GRIP"

Thank you somebody with sense! Why would they want to throw money away again? Give them a chance for godsake, who would you rather have FSG or our previous owners who nearly bankrupted us?

SA

They spent hardly anything if you discount the Torres money and other sales. Then this year - nothing again taking into account the saving on wages !

Their net spend on transfers since coming here really is next to nothing

Been saying this for months {Ed002's Note - The reason no one takes any notice of what you have been saying is because you cannot seem to grasp the finances of the club at all.}

Done deal apparently...good one mate

Thoroughly agree

Got their fingers burnt once by splashing a load of cash to get a top four finish.

Fancy not doing this again, and trusting the Manager to work with cheaper options to get us there, and then spend when you have the finances.

These people must have no idea of how to run a business...

I dont think bent would be a bad loan he knows how to score

My point has nothing to do with the ongoing finances of the club more the level of investment fsg are prepared to put in - which is minimal

What have they invested ? I get they cleared most of the debt and took on an overinflated wage bill but other than that ? I'm talking team investment !

Yes they are better than hicks n gillete but not exactly the heavy investors we all hoped they would be

Go on ed002 what am I not getting ? How could the sheik and abromavich do it with city n Chelsea but not us ? I don't want us to end up in the same position as they r gonna be years down the line but the optimum level of team investment can't be nothing ! {Ed001's Note - because no one has the money to invest like the Sheikh does. I think you need to get your head out of your backside and read up on how much the club has lost and then ask yourself who has covered those losses. Do you not think that counts as investment? You just want someone to pump in billions, which is simply unsustainable.}

10 Dec 2012 08:43:49
are we interested in resigning tom ince

red 1982 {Ed002's Note - Certain Liverpool is one of the clubs who has whown an interest.}

Hope the interest does not come to fruition !!

Ridiculous business buying him back - let him go to Spurs for 10m, just an overrated kid

09 Dec 2012 23:59:02
just been told that the loan signing were surposed to be signing is wait for it ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,robbie keane,,dont believe it myself ,,but unever no if hes right ,,then we must have no money at all to spend &also were trying for sturridge 5mil now &10mil at end of season determing were we finish in the league
IRISH RED

1 word..... LOL

How much have you drunk mate??

Yeah because Robbie Keane was amazing for us when he was younger, faster, fitter and at his peak, right?

cozinoz

I agree lads that this is total nonsense , he won't be brought back. I always felt sorry for the lad tho as I felt he never really got a proper chance while with us

It just get's sillier and sillier.

There was a very good reason he was shown the door.

MIKEY

As isaid idont believe it ,,but why does every fan think that fsg are gona spend money this window,when they wouldnt pay 6mil in aug for dempsey when on the same day we recieved 4.5mil for charlie adam so if they wouldnt part with 1r2mil then,,whats changed,,im afraid loan deals like keane etc might be br only option,,,& i remember rodgers interview the morning of that last august window & he seemed excited bout the 1r2 signings he tought we would sign & we did zilch so heads outa the clouds people
IRISH RED

Absolute rubbish
