Hi Ed,
Apologies this isn't strictly Liverpool-related, but I wanted to get your opinion on the supposed retirement payout to Richard Scudamore comprised of individual 'kitty payments' from each Premier League club.
Whilst I know that large retirement payouts are not uncommon, especially for executive-level employees, but I believe this would be in really bad taste, and I, alongside presumably most of the Liverpool fan base, would not be in favour of this at all.

{Ed001's Note - large retirement payouts are supposedly meant to be to help someone who has to suddenly cope with a lower income, not for some rich prick who has systematically attempted to destroy the game from the fans perspective to line the pockets of himself and the clubs. He should have been sacked 19 years ago with nothing. It is a disgrace.}

Agree with every word, thanks a lot.

{Ed001's Note - very welcome. It sickens me to be honest.}

14 Nov 2018 07:26:49
Completely agree Ed1, it's wrong on so many bloody levels. He doesn't need the money, he's already minted so wtf? it's as bad as begging if you ask me, is the money not better off going to a charity what NEEDS it? this is just another example of the rich making themselves richer and not giving a damn about anybody else but themselves and their own pockets. It boils my blood. Could you imagine him giving any of that money to any charity in need? no chance, greedy bast*rd. There's people on normal wages giving loads weekly/ monthly to people in need then you get these absolute idiots. Completely agree Ed it is a disgrace.

{Ed001's Note - I don't get it either, why would they even suggest the idea? It is obscene.}

14 Nov 2018 10:32:23
I know Ed and even worse, there's people this Christmas unable to give their children a Christmas present, unable to heat their homes, unable to bloody eat, unable to keep a home yet then you get pieces of sh*t like that taking 5 million because suddenly he's entitled to it? why is he? It's a real sore subject for me mate it really is.

{Ed001's Note - I really do not get why they even thought that this was a good idea. He was extremely well paid, there should be no need to dole out more to him. If he had anything about him he would have turned it down anyway when the idea was presented.}

14 Nov 2018 11:22:32
I think it is because he has made all of the clubs stupidly rich and this is his mates way of getting them to say thank you.
I'm sorry but the whole thing is wrong, he has done his job and filled the pockets of many people involved with the game. If clubs have £250,000 they can find for a rich man who has done his job then maybe they could find more to give to local football charities (i know clubs already do things for local communities but hopefully you get my point) .
I am all for thanking someone for almost 20 years of work but club together and get him a watch not £5,000,000 that could go to far better causes, especially this time of year!

{Ed001's Note - exactly. £5m would see a lot of homeless people no longer homeless for instance.}

14 Nov 2018 12:13:56
Spot on, although I don't know why councils don't go down the route of temporary housing (buy some land that can't be used for other means) and put them up in caravans or something of that ilk, all the homeless want is a roof over their head, some food and a bit of heat plus somewhere with an address so they can try and get themselves back on their feet. but that is a whole different subject!

As you have said if Scudamore had anything about him he would tell the clubs to direct at least some of it to those in need.

14 Nov 2018 13:22:59
Well said Ed1 and WY. Exactly my thoughts. I have nothing more to add, it saddens me people like that don't give a damn about people in need whilst they're sat there in their mansions not giving it a second thought celebrating they're 5 mil up. It's a dissgrace and it really infuriates me.

14 Nov 2018 13:52:02
That's the problem Salah, most people have become so 'inward' looking and seem to have the opinion if i don't see it doesn't happen. The game that is the common denominator for us all on this site is littered with people that are comfortable money wise and don't think about the fans that get them to where they are.
I'm not saying they should give up everything but a small gesture to someone that has fallen on hard times would go a huge way, if we were all a bit more respectful to one another the world would seem a much better place. And a £5m payout which is effectively funded by the fans is just a massive kick between the legs.

14 Nov 2018 21:33:20
Very well said guys. Couldn't agree more. there's a lot of homeless near where I live. And 2 months ago I was nearly homeless.
Thankfully 2 friends stepped in so was lucky. Always try to give them some food or hot drink.

12 Nov 2018 21:01:33
Nasri to Westham? after his ban ends. This one could either way to be honest I always love a signing like this when other teams take the chance on problem players. I'm glad it's not us but very interesting to see if he still feels like playing football.

Bet ya a grand it isn't.

{Ed025's Note - nice one roller..

12 Nov 2018 19:26:59
Isn’t he highly religious and gambling goes against his beliefs? He and Liverpool have said he has never bet - ever!

{Ed025's Note - its not about him gambling 1jj, its about passing on information about injuries etc mate, they are allegations at this stage which im sure he will refute..

13 Nov 2018 11:10:50
if i was a betting man, he has probably been accused of passing on team news (i. e. if he starts) for the first scorer market, still out of order but don't think he has placed a bet himself.

12 Nov 2018 18:27:42
Question for all posters. Who do you rate as future England stars. Who you think could be part of another golden generation.

There's, Gomes, Trent, sessagnon, Brewster, angel Gomes, alli, sancho, rashford who else is capable do you think?

Before his injurys I would have added Butland to that list, but the poor fella hasn't progresed since returning.

13 Nov 2018 12:00:14
Youve missed out a few players who look like they can step up well,

Foden, Chilwell, Win-Bassanka, Walker-Peters, Sessengon, Lookman, Nelson, Veira, Odoi

all depends on if they get the game time to progress the ones most likely in my bunch above are Win-Bassanka, Sessengon, Chilwell since they are playing every week.

11 Nov 2018 16:33:23
Everton did their part, so i'm going to say it. Come on United! A win would mean we're outright top of the league, and we'll get a week of relative peace from the doom-mongers writing us off already!

Can't rely on City losing points to bad teams.

11 Nov 2018 21:27:48
Rather see United out of the race before December myself, big 6 becomes 5.

11 Nov 2018 07:35:44
Ed001 if you have any free time at all one of these days I would love your review and opinion on the
Julio César Chávez vs. Meldrick Taylor fight
I remember thinkning why stop it and the ref was bribed.
I was a massive taylor fan and was so upset but on the other hand a few of the elder folk said it was a good stoppage.
Would really love your opinion.

{Ed001's Note - I haven't actually seen that fight, so I would have to watch it, but I have added it to my to do list for when I get some time.}

Agree0 Disagree1

11 Nov 2018 10:23:57
It was as dodgy as they come in my opinion mate, he didn't have to stop it, it was a stupid decision.

Ed1 if I remember correctly the full fight is on youtube mate.

{Ed001's Note - when I have some spare time I will look for it.}

11 Nov 2018 07:57:58
As always thank you Ed much appreciated.

{Ed001's Note - very welcome.}

13 Nov 2018 23:23:05
In my opinion, it was a the right stoppage. Taylor didn't respond when Richard Steele was talking to him, he was looking around, completely concussed. No matter how much time is in the round, if that happens it's fight over.

10 Nov 2018 15:33:45
Who has been the player to surprise you first in terms of ability/ progression? Be it a player who looked like they’d end up a worldie and was incredibly average of vice versa.

Interesting to hear responses.

Depay and Harry kane.

11 Nov 2018 16:24:05
Kane's a great shout mate, didn't expect him to achieve the level and consistency he has.

10 Nov 2018 15:24:03
"Liverpool quietly for sale", I really really hope this story is true🙏. And I hope its sold responsibly to people with the clubs interests at heart, snowball in hells chance of that with these owners but I live in hope.

10 Nov 2018 17:34:06
I’m intrigued Waro. Is there any scenario that sees you change your mind about the owners? Winning the league?

Or even say what they would have to do.

10 Nov 2018 18:37:18
What is your problem with these owners Waro? I'm not having a dig mate just a genuine question, I don't understand why you're so against them? what are they doing wrong in your eyes?

I have a list as long as my arm about how good they have been for Liverpool yet I can't really think of the negatives, it'd be interesting to hear a different opinion.

10 Nov 2018 19:21:53
Salah I don’t know how Waro can can make such a stupid assumption that we could have better owners than FSG. We have progressed in every aspect, team vastly improved (even more when we have new signings fully integrated) . impressive stadium, training facilities being developed what more does he want, oh I know a bottomless pit of Arab money. No thankenot for me.

{Ed002's Note - I suspect what he wants is owners with transluscent skin and that whining accent. Oh and bundles of lolly.}

10 Nov 2018 23:32:34
dont think the SOS has a spare 800m, do you, waro? thank god.

{Ed025's Note - i dont think waro has got a scooby benny, the owners have paid debts, improved the ground, and provided funds for transfers on a massive scale and i dont know what more he would expect?...i suppose it takes all sorts mate..

11 Nov 2018 08:26:51
As per usual Waro leaves an I flamatory post and seems unwilling to engage in conversation about it. I guess he’d risk showing that he has an agenda and the owners cannot do right for doing wrong. It’s sad really.

{Ed025's Note - i just want him to explain why 87?, i have outlined my reasons why i think they have done a great job and would like waro to explain why he thinks to the contrary mate...come on waro back up your first statement with reasons..

If Klopp was getting criticism for the lack of trophies, then FSG should too.
The club are probably in the least successful stewardship that it’s ever been in?
We were told that these guys had won the World Series and next it was the Premier League. Cue 8 or 9 years of one step forward, one step back ownership.
It’s really only in the last couple of years that I’ve had any confidence in FSG at all.
They look as if they’ve learned lessons, so fair enough.
Getting Klopp was a huge step I thought they were not capable of.

A recurring nag for me though is the Fenway title, they’re clearly baseball fans, Boston Red Sox at that. I gather they’ve just won the World Series again. Bully for them. That’s where their first love lies. You get the feeling that Liverpool are an investment tool only, and that doesn’t sit right with me.

But it’s just starting the ardguments between fans again. FSG have improved, and there’s much worse out there.
This is not an anti American rant either.
But my ideal is a German type model with 51% fan ownership or fan involvement like the Basque clubs.

{Ed025's Note - but knowing liverpool fans juicer they would withdraw their shares if they only got a draw at arsenal or something mate.. :)

11 Nov 2018 09:22:21
In my Red World Ed025 I haven’t yet decided if fans will have shares or debentures.
All profits to the community, or tax write-offs?
Neville Southall was on the radio last week, the fella is spot on. Apart from being a Blue obviously like 😃.

{Ed025's Note - what a keeper he was juicer(before he ate a couch)and a very nice bloke..

11 Nov 2018 10:12:30
If I remember correctly I think it stems from them messing around with ticket prices.

I personally like the owners, they got us Klopp, let’s not forget previously we had Rodgers and Hodgson, are a huge step up in terms of calibre. They have kept us at Anfield and as ed025 has said improved it. The money they have given us for transfers is huge.

Are they perfect? no, but sometimes it is better to stick with the devil you know as there are a lot of bad owners out there!

11 Nov 2018 14:14:26
Times have changed. If you're hoping for owners of any professional sports team, anywhere on this Planet, to think of the fans' welfare first and above their own pockets and value of their investment, then you need to invest ina good time machine and go backwards a few decades. When professional sports were still sports, and not businesses operating in the sports area. In my view, FSG have as done as much as any other could have/ would have done. Be thankful we are not in the US where team owners regularly pick up their team and simply move them to another city or state, simply because it suits their whims/ financial objectives, or they don't feel "the love" from the fans. 😉.

08 Nov 2018 18:17:48
What do you do with gigi a nice guy has great moments but that seems to be all moments he seems to rely on confidence but 90% of the time has very little is it he is playing out of position not comfortable with the style a lot of you on hear are more knowlegable than me so would 've good to hear your thoughts also who do you see as our starting midfield co. e the end of our season.

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Nov 2018 21:34:05
Just a standard professional footballer, capable of some good performances but not really the next level. Keita's performances in the bundesliga were very a high standard and basically Keita is what Klopp wishes Wijnaldum was. Similarly, Fabinho is hoped to be a better version of what Henderson does when he plays as the Holding mid or "6" as Klopp loves to say.

09 Nov 2018 13:11:59
I'll probably get slammed for this and it'll probably go down like a lead balloon but imo Wijnaldum isn't good enough for Liverpool, he's far to touch and go, on and off like a yoyo. He's good on his day, that I won't deny but them days are far too rare, he's not reliable enough, sometimes it seems like we have 10 men on the pitch. At this stage, we can't be having that imo.

{Ed001's Note - he certainly isn't good enough in away games when he just hides.}

09 Nov 2018 13:56:43
Agreed Ed its almost like he avoids the ball, he just disappears from where he needs to be! and it winds me up mate, as I say on his day he's good but them days aren't often enough, he might get away with it at a team like Newcastle but at Liverpool imo it's not good enough not now we're going for the title etc. I want to see 11 players on the pitch not 10 with an invisible player.

09 Nov 2018 15:27:09
Agreed, Salah. Not specifically against Wijnaldum, but in general, a team with the aspirations we have, and the high caliber of players that have been assembled, can't afford to have a member playing in a key position be so unpredictable and so unreliable. I'm sure it's not a comfortable feeling for Klopp (even though if he may "like" him) and it probably is the same for his fellow team mates. Uncertainty is that door that let's doubt and lack of confidence creep in.

But I would wait for Keita and Fabinho to confirm, before shipping Wijnaldum anywhere.

09 Nov 2018 17:03:37
Absolutely ra, completely agree with that mate.

09 Nov 2018 17:12:23
I wonder how all the Ox bashers from last summer are now feeling. He is a huge miss after the way he started playing last season, we would have a great midfield with his drove in there.

09 Nov 2018 17:47:40
Agree with you, Salah. Using City as benchmark, he wouldn't get near their side. I come away from some games and have to ask myself if he played.

10 Nov 2018 00:54:40
I like Gini he can be a very good player but I kind of see what you mean.
Sometimes he reminds me of Moussa Dembele with his strength and power and ability to maintain possession.
On his off days though he’s more of a hindrance than a help.
I’d keep him though I do really like the guy and he’s a nice bloke too.

10 Nov 2018 17:21:20
Bobbys Blinders. I'm a nice bloke but if I was a Liverpool player, you want me sold.

If I was to describe myself as a footballer, I'd say I'm a bit like Jan Molby. Just without the talent.
