I'm just putting this out to the forum. does anyone think that we have actually over-achieved this season?

I say this as at the very start of the season as I thought we wouldn't have the squad depth to mount the title challenge we have for so long.

The fact we have what with all the injuries too is even more remarkable. And to win a cup was a bonus too.

There have been good things to come out of this season. The emergence of Bradley, Clark, Quansah, Danns etc means the future looks very bright.

Investment will be needed in an aged defence in the summer and a DM is a must long-term. If Salah can be sold for 70 million then that will help finance the rebuild.

A lot to be positive about.

Your thoughts.

I'd tend to agree with u barnes, if before season u said we finish 3rd and a cup I'd have been delighted.
At same time the way we ending season (if it continues in this vein) will be disappointing, my biggest worry going forward is how most of players haven't embraced the pressure of run in, they've shrunk, there no way we as bad as we've played recently.
I don't think new manager should throw baby out with the bath water as we have a lot of v good players between 19-25 but to win a league I definitely think we need 2-4 players top class players.

I said a few weeks back how good it would be to win the prem by one point well i still think this can still happen . YNWA.

I said a whole back we need to keep perspective
Considering how far off being champions we were last season and not qualifying for the CL we have exceeded what I thought we would do.

City have to play away to Brighton and Spurts the latter of which they have a poor record. Arsenal away to United Spurts and away to Chelsea. We have to take care of our games and not worry about the others. Still possible but obviously we have to improve.

Emery anyone?

Good manager, good record, struggled at Arsenal.
I wouldn’t mind it.

Question I have is why did he struggle at Arsenal and is he happy working under Hughes and Edwards.

Whoever we get is giving up a decent amount of autonomy.

{Ed001's Note - he always does well when there is no pressure to succeed and as soon as there is pressure he struggles.}

I know it’s daft but I can’t stand the faces he pull's.

15 Apr 2024 17:30:05
Seems a really nice bloke to be fair and has done exceptional at mid range clubs like Sevilla, Villareal and Aston Villa. I'd worry about his ability to succeed at a club which doesn't contain the letters "villa" in the name!

In all seriousness though he definitely didn't achieve his targets at Arsenal and PSG. Neither of those clubs are as big as Liverpool so I think he might be at his level.

What could Arsenal have realistically achieved under Emery? It was an impossible job at the time. They were wasting money on players like Pepe who Emery didn't even want. They've only got their act together in recent years and they've spent a lot of money to get there.

At least our goal difference improved compared to Arsenal's today.

Yep, only 8 behind now 😂
We need about 170 chances to score 8.

This is a long shot. As a man in great pain lol.

Any chance xabi was just politic-ing and may change his stance? We don’t get him now I would imagine it means he’s waiting for Madrid. The options are so limited with Amorim downplaying links. Maybe ed2 is making the call with the Ajax coach and he’ll perform the miracle we need.

Alonso isn’t going to manage us. He’s waiting for the Madrid job. Ed002 mentioned the Feyenoord manager not Ajax but also said he wasn’t going to br the one either. With Amorim ruling himself out and it not being De Zerbi (which is a relief if De Zerbi isn’t an option), then it is slim pickings as there’s no quality out there. We’re now being linked to Nico Kovac who has failed in every managerial post he’s ever had. I’ve no confidence that the next manager will be competent or successful given the almost non existent pool available.

15 Apr 2024 09:05:19
Has Amorim ruled himself out?

I know he’s denied any agreement but I didn’t know he’s ruled himself out.

Goodness me! I don’t want Kovac.

15 Apr 2024 11:56:54
Amorim still 5 to 1 on with the bookies to become the next Liverpool manager.

All he did was deny reports of an agreement - it doesn't mean he isn't in talks with us. He's not exactly going to rubbish where he eats (if you will excuse the expression) until the I's are dotted and the t's are crossed.

Even when a full agreement with someone is in place and signed, don't be surprised if it isn't announced until their season is effectively over so as not to impact their current club.

So klopp gets only the carabao cup as send off.
Befitting as he decide to leave the club stranded in middle of season.
Obviously nobody is interested in playing for him.

Troll.

Away from today's game.

A few weeks ago there was a near national inquiry into why a certain Paul Tierney handed the ball back to Kelleher as opposed to a Forest player.

It was deemed so bad that Tierney himself was demoted for the following match week

In the game today between Arsenal and Villa, the EXACT SAME situation arose and guess what, the infamous Coote gave the ball back to Arsenal when Villa where in possession.

I eagerly await the same inquiry and certainly look forward to Coote being given time off next week.

I also know that there is more chance of Utd winning the league this year!

Just had to add that Paul Tierney was the fourth official in the Arsenal vs Villa game by the way.

It is with every fibre of my being that I hope Klopp says that's enough and bins this inverted fullback nonsense for good.

You most likely have seven games left - two at anfield. Make them count.

The return of heavy metal Klopp football till we part ways, give us all a reminder of why we feel in love with your football to begin with.

Amen Wassa
From your lips to God's hears.

14 Apr 2024 18:32:21
And then what JLC? Are you expecting Robbie to call Klopp?

15 Apr 2024 06:31:56
Why not Zed?
Maybe miracles can still happen.

15 Apr 2024 10:09:44
God: Alrite Gaffer, I need you to, like, go back to playing full throttle, like.

Klopp: You are the messiah, Robbie, I will do as you ask.

*heavenly music and angels on harps*

Kinda like that, JLC?

15 Apr 2024 12:53:14
Yip. Something like that.
