Who else can feel it?
Today, we replevy our charge
Today, we pummel to slash GD
Today, we show why we are LIV
Today, we bin the Mancs and Atalanta hangover. We have learnt our lessons.
Today, we roll and a rolling stone knows no moss.
Guys, it's the season, no. 20 is coming HOME. I BELIEVE! šŸ’ŖšŸ’ŖšŸ”„.

14 Apr 2024 11:50:35

Love it Ugbes mate. Nothing more I would want than to win the league. But the boys have to show their worth today.

A big victory against Palace would give us the momentum needed to bring number 20 back home.

Shame the players didnā€™t feel it.

Itā€™s been a rollercoaster season that looks like itā€™s going to end in a whimper.

The only good thing is APPARENTLY Arsenal canā€™t score goals and City arenā€™t good chasers so them pair will blink first šŸ™„.

We are carrying too many poor players in our squad some will never be good enough some might play well in a system that suits them better either way it's looking like champions league football and a league cup is all we will have to show for all our over achieving this season seriously think there will be a big clear out in the next 3 windows when the new manager comes in. It's a pity because the season promised so much and we just look like we've ran out of steam and ideas and that's players and management alike.

McG, you asked for it and here it is. Every season we go through some sort of dip in form. Ever since Klopp has been here. This is it now, for this season. šŸ˜‰

And here's another one. Only the second defeat at Anfield in the last 59 games. What's all the commotion for? šŸ˜œ.

City are now top and have the balls to go and win every game, what an absolute cock up today was.

Agree4

14 Apr 2024 19:05:48
It may even be just goal difference.

All 3 teams have it in them to lose more points after this weekend.

Agree1

14 Apr 2024 19:29:03
City will not lose or draw any games they have coming, 1 absolute Fool up today. Money talks eventually.

Agree5

14 Apr 2024 22:23:47
Doesn't really matter if City do drop points because we don't look like we're capable of winning one game let alone the rest of them.

Thatā€™s the key Red-Willis-1 we donā€™t look capable of taking advantage: Everton (a), Spurs (h) West Ham (a), Villa (a)
These are not easy games even when we are taking our chances and keeping clean sheets.

Ed001 I would expect Kelleher leave in the summer think this run of games has shown he is to good to be a number 2. We should get good money for him to help the new manager bring in some players he wants. Do you know if Marcelo Pitaluga is ready to step up as our number 2.
Cheers Ed.

{Ed001's Note - as a number 2 I think so. Kelleher needs to go get regular first team football for his own sake. He is nowhere near good enough to challenge Alisson, so he would be better served moving on I think.}

14 Apr 2024 11:52:12
Such a shame for Kelleher, seems a really good keeper, but you can never have 2 amazing keepers and keep them both happy.
I guess you have to keep developing them and moving them on when they peak, shame as usually having a "normal" number 2 basically loses you games. We've been really lucky this year.

Agree1

14 Apr 2024 11:59:23
That's the right call. Kelleher is rightfully No. 2 at LFC, but if he wants to start elsewhere then the club should facilitate that. He's not overtaking Alison. Not now and not in another 5 years.

Agree3

14 Apr 2024 19:29:50
100% should be a buy back clause.

Agree0

14 Apr 2024 21:20:51
Ed01, the fact that Ali came back today and played like he never left, should tell Kellerher and his reps that it is time to go and gt a career of his own. I mean, Ali can prolly roll out of bed and go drop a masterclass in goal, he makes it look that easy.

Agree0

14 Apr 2024 09:00:37
Not a rumour but question for the Ed's and others - if Salah or diaz were to go would/ should/ will we go for Toney. Whatever system the new manager needs having a prem experienced and proved goal scorer will make the transition much more successful. Isn't Toney an LFC fan, for 50 million he would leave change for other signings and be great for us for 3 years.

14 Apr 2024 09:40:01
Wouldnā€™t touch him. Too lazy. Plus other issues. Got ManU signing written all over it.

Agree7

14 Apr 2024 09:58:44
I wouldnā€™t put money on us going for Toney but he might.

Agree10

14 Apr 2024 10:46:58
Unnecessary baggage, wouldnā€™t go near him especially not for 50mil Jesus.

Agree3

14 Apr 2024 11:05:51
Heā€™s a useful player. But isnā€™t he 28? Spunking the majority of your budget on a player going into a new season where he turns 29 is just stupidity.

Agree7

14 Apr 2024 12:03:52
I'd go for Ollie Watkins before I'd go for Ivan Toney. Same age, but Watkins has been regularly progressing and is having his best year ever in goals and assists. Toney just has too much "baggage" as has been said.

Agree2

14 Apr 2024 12:10:01
Salah will never be replaced. We need to find other solutions in our attack and in the market.

Personally, Danns seems to be ready for 1st team football.

I predict next season he will be a regular if the new coach gives him game time.

Going into the Atalanta game I was very surprised to hear klopp describe them as sitting back and holding a low block. It genuinely shocked me because gasperini never plays that way.

I watch quite a lot of Italian footy and that's not how Atalanta have played at any point in the season.

The reason we got beat is we did not prepare properly. based on what klopp said I genuinely think we just made assumptions about the game based on the fact Atalanta is a 'smaller' club and prepared for that game.

I actually found it very dismissive what klopp said pre game. I went into the game expecting a team to press high and break with pace, which is how Atalanta played.

Perhaps it's not the players who have checked out, maybe it's klopp.

13 Apr 2024 16:04:07
I was really gutted about his comments in the interview with TNT. He was asked if he'd miss European nights at Anfield and in short, he basically said he wouldn't. I think he's ready to call it a day already. Feels like he's staying until the summer as a courtesy with comments like that.

I really hope he can find another couple of months of energy and charisma for us.

Klopp is human like the rest of us. Heā€™s going to have his good days and his bad days as well as the days heā€™s grouchy.

Letā€™s be be honest how many of us have reacted and said something outs of turn or they regret.

Klopps a legend but heā€™s human.

We all need to stop taking it all too seriously. Even though it was said by a legend himself but football 100% isnā€™t more important than life or death and anyone who argues it is Iā€™ll call bull s##t.

The energy has gone from Klopp and the other coaches. It was a mistake to announce him leaving as the wheels have come off after an initial boost. The players look like there walking to the end of the season were we still had everything to play for. Really disappointing.

Klopp is a legend but heā€™s probably stayed a season to long.

Agree11

13 Apr 2024 18:46:30
I wasnā€™t at the game but I watched it.

Klopp was maniacal on the touchline.

Any idea that he has lost his energy or enthusiasm is bunk.

Heā€™s probably sick to death of interviews which is fair enough.

Klopp out!

Oh wait.

Agree1

14 Apr 2024 08:28:01
Why is this breaking news to anyone? Klopp says a lot of dust after games esp. after a lcrushing loss that affects him emotionally hence, not in control of things coming out of his mouth in those moments right after a game. This has always been the case with him. Not sure what all the fuss is about.

Agree2

14 Apr 2024 08:59:31
Yeah ok lads, you lot can crawl up mr Klopps arse, the so called legend thatā€™s left you all hanging after signing a contract and not honouring it! Bloke thinks he calls the shots heā€™s not that great in my opinion, got lucky with salah mane and firmino. Since then heā€™s won sod all. Couple joke cups on penalties.

Agree4

14 Apr 2024 09:07:24
I find it more disappointing that fans are now turning their back on the man after all he has done for this club.
Is it too much to ask to give your unconditional support for the last few weeks he has with us instead of finding snippets to criticise him for?
Maybe next season we will have something to really complain about šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø. It seems to me Klopp isnā€™t the only one who has downed tools.

Agree5

14 Apr 2024 09:21:18
@Irish the overwhelming majority of fans arenā€™t turning their back on him.

Agree4

14 Apr 2024 09:24:24
The problem is klopp has spoiled us all, the norm now is getting 90 odd points in league going deep in 4 competitions and doing it on a transfer net spend of a lot less than your rivals. This is over achieving not under achieving.
And b4 everybody has a go at me about transfer spending unfortunately the teams that spend the most win the most, that's a fact.
After every defeat it is now what we call in Ireland, a wake (2-3days mourning b4 a funeral) and the reason it is is because we ain't used to it and lot of supporters just can't handle a defeat r a bad run.

Agree2

14 Apr 2024 09:29:38
Never really got the obsession with honouring contracts when it comes to football - obvs there is how you handle it, but is a v cut throat business for players and managers.

From a players perspective you can play for years and come from youth team - then get sold / dropped in an instant. Managers can get sacked after bringing a team up leagues or winning trophies after a bad run.

Main bit is how you carry yourself and respect shown when given. I never recall Klopp ever being disrespectful towards club, supporters and canā€™t doubt effort given - added if think is overrated with legend status, then explain anger that is leaving and being replaced?

Same with anyoneā€™s job - it is an agreement between parties, not ownership from one party. Stress comes with the rewards so if Klopp feels his time is up for whatever reason then based on his service and effort given canā€™t fault the man.

Agree4

14 Apr 2024 09:45:17
Mr bean Iā€™m good with Klopp leaving me hanging mate.

In my eyes Klopp is a legend but Iā€™ve supported this club long before he came and I will long after he goes so Iā€™m not too sure how much hanging he has left me to do.

Agree2

14 Apr 2024 10:41:02
Klopp has done a lot for the club and for that I'm very thankfully. He's earned his time in the sun and his status at the club but if we are being honest his reign is one of of missed opportunities more than it is of opportunities grabbed.

League cup, 2 Europa league, 1 premier league, 1 champions league

Those are what we should have won that we didn't in my opinion. We like to think of his reign as legendary but in truth it's only legendary by our standards (which were very low) .

Ranieri, dalglish, ancelotti, conte all won the same number of premier league titles (we can prob add arteta to that list soon) I doubt many of us refer to conte or ranieri as legends right?

Some - Jose, pep, fergie, Wenger all won more than klopp.

If we're talking European trophies then klopp is still lagging behind. Losing more finals than he won. He isn't even ahead of benitez on that front. You might even say our one win the champs league we because we met an inferior team in the final. Every time we meet a good team we lose the final (Sevilla, Madrid x 2, city in LC)

He has given a lot to Liverpool and I appreciate him giving us back our prestige but I do also wish we hadn't stumbled and fell over almost every time we got to the finish line.

You can say Madrid blah blah city blah blah but the brutal truth is the best beat the best and we can't quite get past the finish line 70% of the time.

Agree4

14 Apr 2024 10:29:24
Heā€™s absolutely a legend, how many LFC managers have won the league and the Champions league (European Cup)?
He deserves his place as a legend - itā€™s self-evident.

It would be much easier for him to stay at the club, wait to get sacked and then get compensation for his contract.
He gave the club sufficient notice.
Heā€™s not left anyone hanging, heā€™s got no more to give and is going before it impacts the club.

Poor take by Bean.

Before Klopp, Liverpool hadnā€™t won a PL in 30 years. Let that sink in. Three generations of mainly not even close to winning. Of course I would have wanted more and maybe under different circumstances ( Man City and all they stand for) we definitely would have but the biggest thing for me was changing the culture of our ā€œ loserā€ tag into a club that should be competing.
Also, should Klopp have realised the Sh#t show Karius would display in a CL final šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø.

Y'all didn't read. I said he's a legend to us in the same way moyes might be a legend to west ham.

What is his competition? A slew of decent cup managers and that's it. By the standards of fergie, wenger, pep and even Jose klopp isn't in that conversation really.

He's not a legend. He's just a legend to us. In two seasons if he just wins one game against city he wins two more titles, that's why I said we always stumble at the finish.

The best characterisation of klopps time if we are being very honest is that it was a very good time in charge but it always fell short of being great.

Would we call fergie a legend if he won united one title, even if it was after 30 years of nothing. no we wouldn't. Is James beattie a legend for winning one golden boot? No of course not.

Klopp is our legend, but not a premier league legend by pretty much any standard. Winning a second title would put him above the one season wonders but it's very unlikely we are getting a title.

Agree3

14 Apr 2024 17:11:20
Heā€™s an Anfield legend, he doesnā€™t work for the premier league.

Is Jurgen Klopp Burnt Out At Liverpool FC?

13 Apr 2024 07:39:01
{Ed's Note - Anonymous Woolback has posted a new article entitled, Is Jurgen Klopp Burnt Out At Liverpool FC?

13 Apr 2024 12:52:09
Feels like the season ended at Old Trafford tbh mate.
I gave away my ticket and glad I did.
Itā€™s all fizzled away unfortunately, not a coincidence that all the players suddenly returned at once after the pressure is off.

But who knows, maybe the champions league hangovers kick in and City Arsenal blink.

But Personally i donā€™t see us capable of winning 7 games playing like this.

Agree18

13 Apr 2024 13:24:45
That's the spirit LiverpoolFC8, if you have a ticket for the Wolves game at the end of the season can I call dibs on it now please! Will be so appreciative that you give me the opportunity to watch Klopp and the squad parade the EPL trophy around A field as 2023/ 24 Champs!

Agree5

13 Apr 2024 14:33:36
First things first, we need to find a lineup and performance with better balance between defence and attack.

We had that earlier in the season so we know it's there.

Hopefully Klopp can find that against Crystal Palace. And that will be the basis for the rest of the season.

I get why people are a bit gloomy with recent performances and results but giving up when we are only off top spot on goal difference seems a little over the top. Let's hope for that performance tomorrow and then go from there.

Agree7

13 Apr 2024 15:03:31
@ liverpoolfc8:Nope. How does it feel like season ended we still in with slim chance of Europa still joint top in league as for giving your ticket away? You donā€™t even deserve one. I got blue mates who sit through that sh*te week in week out that would call you a glory hunter, Iā€™d have to agree with them too.

@ anonymous woolback:
Nope I donā€™t think klopp is burnt out. Him this year v him last year is night and day. He looks like a weight has been lifted. Like the team night and day, full rebuild people was saying . This team is just starting out, halfway through a transition hindered by injuries to our most experienced players ( Matip, Ali, Trent, Robbo even Thiago and mo) yet they still within grasp of more glory so no not burnt out/ washed up probably a bit frustrated knowing like us if he had players back and the forwards would find the back of the net with the umpteen chances we create we would be out of sight In The league probably. As for Atalanta, playing players back into form / fitness in a game we all expected to win is expected really.

Agree4

Agree8

14 Apr 2024 06:18:45
HessleRed - Itā€™s not just ā€œa couple of bad resultsā€, is it?
In the last month weā€™ve been knocked out of two competitions (one still undecided but the overwhelming likelihood is that we are out) - both of which we were arguably favourites to win - and both in rather humiliating fashion.
From so much promise, we now face the task of winning the league against a City team who thrive at this time of year (they play less risky football and opponents are too exhausted from the long season to compete with Cityā€™s technical superiority), while we arenā€™t playing that well.
No surprise to see our some members of the squad make a full recovery once the pressure is off as well.

Agree2

14 Apr 2024 09:42:38
LoweLFC: favourites in a cup competition that still has city in the same city you just said ā€œthrive at this time of yearā€?

Agree1

14 Apr 2024 10:23:43
I CLEARLY said ā€œarguably favouritesā€, as in some people would regard us as that.
Unlike most teams, we have the quality to challenge and beat City at any stage of the season. A safe, tired team, however, will likely lack the energy and motivation to really try and attack City this late on.

Agree0

14 Apr 2024 11:08:13
Lowe, are you implying that our players faked their injuries when the pressure is on and are now returning when we are almost out of all competitions and hence, can play with no pressure? Cos I don't get what you're trying to say with that last line there.

Agree1

12 Apr 2024 17:23:04
Ed1 if Amron does come in what improvements do you think he could bring? Slower attacks meaning more chance of converting? No more inverted full backs? Playing with width?

I love Klopp and always will but itā€™s time to look to what happens next.

{Ed001's Note - he definitely plays with more width from the wing-backs. But is that the way he wants to play or the way he plays because of the squad he has? If he stays playing the way he does at Sporting, it will be a similar high octane press but rather than inverting a full-back to dominate the midfield, a centre-back steps forward into midfield to press high.}

12 Apr 2024 17:49:12
Hasnā€™t he denied any contact with Liverpool this week.

Gmil I hope so as the options look quite slim pickings at the mo.

But wouldnā€™t it also mean Alonso is still on the table as heā€™s denied it and he is in similar circumstances.

Only difference is the media who are constantly criticised of knowing nothing and click baiting are reporting Alonso is off so are they believable for this.

He just said he hasn't met with anyone from Liverpool which is true apparently Liverpool have just spoken to his agent where as alonso has said he is staying where he is.

Agree6

13 Apr 2024 09:51:06
Imagine if he doesn't come to us? then what? god help us if that's the case. Bad timing because as things stand there's not a lot of available good managers. I believe he will come but at the same time I believed Alonso would.

Agree5

13 Apr 2024 10:10:10
Ed01, you could have a point regarding whether whether Amorim plays a back 3 more due to the players he has rather than due to his own preference. I say this cos Sebastian Coates is as we knew from his time at LFC or in the PL (with Sunderland) is as slow as a snail hence, prolly would get exposed in the 4 so he like many CB's who lack pace, are put in a back 3 to play the sweeper role so as not to leave him exposed out wide or in the middle in space.

Agree0

13 Apr 2024 10:23:23
Same here Salah mate. Just crossing my fingers, toes and anything else that can be crossed that we secure Amorim. Because both him and Alonso are the standout candidates. But If Amorim who Iā€™m completely sold on doesnā€™t come, then we are in a difficult position on the managerial front. Having said that, I believe he is coming and if reports are to be believed, he was personally Edwardā€™s first choice. If thatā€™s the case, Edwards will do everything in his power to get it done.

Agree3

13 Apr 2024 12:53:54
I trust Edwards. Weā€™re in good hands with him.

Agree3

13 Apr 2024 13:31:29
Hopefully Gmil.

Apart from Amorim thereā€™s no other real stand out options.

If we end up with Ange or Nagelsman then YouTube highlights streaming is going to take a massive hit.

Agree3

13 Apr 2024 13:39:11
Agreed Alonso, I mean a small part of me still thinks it might be Alonso incoming but I know it's wishful thinking. a lot of IDs and buts but yeah we need Amorin in, funny thing is mate, I don't even know much about him but gone on what others have said on here so I'll trust that lol. Last thing we need is a de Zerbi kind of manager. As I said earlier, we're all out of options.

It was a very disappointing display last night, tactically outsmarted, Anfield sounding like a graveyard, and it seemed players were just not up for it. Hat's off to Atalanta though for taking full advantage of that - can only beat what's in front of you, and they certainly whooped our behinds. Credit to Gakpo who's had a bad patch, but seemed to be one of the only getting out of first gear.

But there's still another leg to go, and we have overturned far worse results. Liverpool have a knack of finding that extra bit of magic on European nights, in recent time Dortmund and of course Barcelona springs to mind. Let's go full throttle. A quick goal and who knows what might happen. It ain't over just yet!

If there is a silver lining to be found, this might have been the kick up the backside we need. A true earful like this has been coming for a while. Let's hope Jurgen and the players wake up for this last stretch of the season, and let's show them all that we're still in the run, we need a reaction from this!

On a side note, can we please hide away Gomez' shooting boots. What started as an encouraging thought and seemingly supporter's and Gomez' biggest wet dream, has now become a bit of a dead meme.

3-0 down but few willing to bet against us getting through.
We are Liverpool and that means a hell of a lot.

Iā€™m going for a 4-1 win for Liver In the return leg and seal the deal in extra time.

Verdo - I would certainly bet against us going through. No chance (screenshot this and beat me over the head with it if we win next week :) .

This is not Barcelona at Anfield and that miraculous turnaround. The second leg is away, we're bang out of form, can't keep a clean sheet and need about 20 efforts on goal for every goal scored.

If we can hopefully muster something for the remainder of the season, it's going to be all in on the league now. Europa League has gone.

Does anyone else think that by not having the banners last night, subdued the crowd which in turn had an effect on the team.

Weā€™ve gone from mentality monsters to tsimikas over hit cross has affected everyoneā€™s mentality and performance in one night.

On the Anfield crowds criticism why didnā€™t those who are criticising create more atmosphere themselves.

Bit disappointed JK didnā€™t own the tactical blunders. He was completely outthought but sought to infer the issues laid everywhere else. Not a disaster and weā€™re not out of it, but sometimes be nice to hear when he owns some of the problems created.

Ashy no mate. Crowd were in good voice before the game and even up to about 10 mins in. I can take the lads losing but they really looked like they were in cruise control and that showed to the crowd.

We started the Jota song and numerous others but it was hard to stay enthused when the players looked far from it.

Only criticism of the crowd for me were the ones who left early but I suppose thatā€™s their rights.

JK, tsimikas did more than that, for the second goal, I thought he was in the crowd protesting the 2% he left that much space.

Stuie he was awful mate. But Kelleher didnā€™t let it go under his body because of Tsimikas. And we were even worse 2nd half when he was off the pitch.

If the players were that awful because there was no flags then mentality monsters they are not.

I thought the Utd games were the kick up the backside for us, season might be over before these kicks up the backside take effect.

RR - sounds like the odds are against us. I like our chances.

Mcgoveb, we were still the better team for large portions of both the FA cup game and the one at old trafford and were sat with more of a feeling that we should've won both.

This one was just pure annihilation from top till bottom. I'm just hopeful we'll see a reaction to it.
