Ed001 do you think it's time to cash in on Tsimikas this summer while he still has good value and let Chambers take his role or do you think one more season on loan at a higher level would be better.
With the new champions league format and other cup competitions there could be plenty of game time for Chambers to develop within the first team squad.

{Ed001's Note - Chambers has not shown himself to be ready and I would say that Robertson is the one that is probably closer to being surplus with his fitness issues + age. If anything I would say Beck is the one that would be closest to coming in on the left.}

Controversial suggestion: Trent at left back? I'm not a fan of inverting, but with the way we get Gomez to do it from left back at times, imo it'd put Trent in a good area for him to use his passing ability and leave right back open for Bradley.

Nah, SR, not with that. Gomez has is a brilliant defender as in, he is a defensive Swiss army knife and has the mentality to play any position in the back line due to his mentality, professionalism and determination to get on the pitch and of his job, regardless of where he is. You can add players like Milner or even Kevin Grosskreutz that Klopp had at Dortmund who was well, his Swiss army knife.

Trent is a diff. type of player, IMO. He is a provider who thrives most in a specific position he is more than used to playing hence, RB. Putting him at LB would essentially put shackles on him preventing him from being the best he can be cos the team depends on him being at his best hence, playing at his best and most productive position. Just my opinion.

In fairness to Robbo he’s usually pretty reliable when it comes to injuries and his big injury miss this season was for a broken or dislocated collar bone which could happen to anyone.

He doesn’t really fall into the injury prone category like the Matip and Thiagos of the squad who will be leaving in the summer.

I’m more concerned with the amount of injuries Jota, Jones and Bajetic seem to get though.

 2

28 Mar 2024 11:22:42
How many injuries has Bajcetic had, Jk? I thought it was just the same growing pains issue.

 1

28 Mar 2024 11:48:06
Jota and Jones were impact injuries this time round so I won't hold it against them. It happens in contact sports. I'd be more worried if they were muscular injuries. Jones used to suffer them fairly frequently in the past but he has been quite reliable this season.

As for Baj, he seems to just have growing pains which is fairly common in young athletes. He seems to be over them though so it is looking good for him.

Idream and Drac I’m not suggesting we move those 3 on as I’m big fans of them all.

It was just regarding injury concerns and I’m just suggesting I’m more worried about them 3 than Robbo.

Just to add context

Baj has more or less missed the entire season (calf and adductor injury’s are what transfer market stats are reporting.

Jota has missed about 40% of the season

Jones has missed about 35% of the season.

Which actually doesn’t sound a lot in percent but it’s a third of the season missed and we could go back further than just this season.

Hi Guys, I keep reading about loads of players that we are supposedly interested in signing - probably all clickbait I know.

Surely with Klopp going, am I correct in thinking no players will come in until a new manager is in position.

 0

28 Mar 2024 08:47:26
If LFC know who the new manager is, then he will probably be informed about any new players? Just because Jurgen is going, it doesn't mean we should sit on our laurels or we will go backwards like in the 90s.

 1

28 Mar 2024 13:09:11
To go backwards in the 90s we would need FSG to suddenly sit on their hands and just watch other clubs continue to grow the commercial side and assume that our recent glories will just fall back into place. I’ve seen nothing in the entire time of FSG to suggest that is how they would operate.

As for our next manager, here's one from left field:

Zeljko Buvac?

Knows the club and Klopp's tactics but obviously not Klopp's personality.

Wild long shot of 100/ 1 odds

Xabi Alonso is 11/ 10 so by no means odds on although at the top of the list.

It's not happening. Don't waste your money. It's clear since he left that he wasn't the "magic sauce. " I also personally think it's gross that he's decided to extend his contract in Russia post 2022.

It’s crazy and a little sad to think that we only have 7 weeks left of Klopp at the helm.

I’d imagine lots is being done in the background but when realistically would be a good time to announce who the new manager is going to be.

Whilst Alonso is still in his title hunt I’d imagine his situation isn’t going to be addressed and I’d also imagine whilst we are still in ours I can’t see us announcing anything as when it is announced it’s going to be the talk of the town and could effect players and fans focus, especially if it isn’t Alonso and the name that is spoken causes a little unrest.

Oh Bog Standard, you mean we should hire the original version of "Klopp was nothing without me" guy? Sorry, I'll pass. Besides, where has he been managing since Klopp decided to see other people? Exactly. Next.

28 Mar 2024 13:11:19
Yeah nah.
But also does anyone else remember back to when he left and there people on here worried about Klopp no longer having his brain lol
Incident remember posters on here criticising Klopp for playing heavy metal and reckless football in much the way some of our fans criticise Ange. And then when Buvac left it was almost like fan worry went into overdrive thinking Klopp’s brainless approach would mean players running their hamstrings in shreds 🤣🤣🤣 what a time.

Anybody know if the poster 'stone' has been about? not seen his posts for a while and was one of them I always looked out for, hope he is well.

 4

28 Mar 2024 07:04:10
Does that mean you enjoy getting stoned?

 1

28 Mar 2024 08:54:50
I've been stoned for years, always happy to be a lil more stoned!

28 Mar 2024 10:55:42
Back in the Stonage (his username, I think), perhaps?

Arsenal - Would take Martinelli for Diaz he is a better finisher and I rate him highly

Man City - Foden to replace Salah if he was to leave, and even though his gob annoys the crap out of me

Aston Villa - Martinelli again as back up keeper if Kelleher was to leave, he is a solid keeper

Spurs - Son = Simply their best player.

 1

{Ed025's Note - i dont want to sound like the spelling police but Villa,s keeper is Martinez hughesy, Martinelli would get chipped every game mate.. :)

 7

27 Mar 2024 17:31:20
Martínez is not moving to another club to be backup. If anything, I see him leaving Villa in the summer for a more “glamorous” club.

Foden is simply class. What a talent!

 4

{Ed025's Note - hes a horrible little fink for me Alonso, but very talented..

 11

27 Mar 2024 17:48:07
Alonso
Foden? Curtis Jones is better 😜🥴😂😂.

 6

{Ed025's Note - say no to drugs..

 8

27 Mar 2024 18:54:06
Martinelli has less goals than Diaz this season.

I think both players are very good and I’d say looking at their numbers both could be better finishers.

 4

27 Mar 2024 21:53:56
Just don’t like Foden…. he is too Manc.

It would be like having someone from Oasis play with the Beatles…. They might know how to play but it just wouldn’t be right.

 12

27 Mar 2024 22:19:35
@Ed25 - Bernardo Silva is WAY worse than Foden. Silva is a fantastic footballer but I cannot stand the guy. Singing on the bus. Not giving us the guard of honour. And many other examples of his despicable behaviour as a human being. It’s like he is obsessed with us, which is strange considering how successful City have been.

@Irish Rover - Jones is one of ours but Foden is… I’ll let you fill out the rest 😜.

 3

{Ed025's Note - im not a fan of Bernardo either Alonso, great player but an absolute tosser of a person mate, mind you there are quite a few of them knocking about..

 8

28 Mar 2024 00:37:00
Bernardo's clearly been eyeing the City exit for a while now but the football financial landscape has become so skewed now that only a couple of clubs outside England could afford him unless he was to go to Saudi.

 1

28 Mar 2024 08:06:18
Foden is overrated no doubt doesn’t show in big games. He was shocking for England. Good player but not going to be remembered as one of the best that’s for sure.

 2

28 Mar 2024 10:23:47
Silva is an absolute wind up merchant. Plenty of them about and lots of rival fans think Similar of Robbo.

I’d categorise Suarez and El Hadj Diouf etc as showing despicable behaviour over someone drinking a cup of tea during a guess of honour.

Nah, OP. Martinelli is not comparable at all to Diaz's in terms of sheer ability as a true winger/ wideman. IMO, Diaz is a true 1 v 1 demon who can rip near any FB inside or outside dress him down, stand him up, get past him, cut inside him, the absolute lot. He can attack a low block and as well, get in behind with true pace and trickery. His finishing and decision making in the final third is what he needs to work on, IMO. That's it.

Martinelli for me, is a good player BUT too much of a one to two trick pony at best who can't function vs a true low block (Arsenal fans say this all the time, btw) without acres of space to run into or in behind. Without that, he is has near NO effect on the game (see how Bradley shut him down easily in his debut game in the FA Cup. Oh, and Martinelli is nowhere near the 1 v 1 dribbler Diaz is. Just my take.

Edd001 is trents knee problem anything to worry about long term? Was supposed to have been a knock and he's been out for an extended period with it. Some players are never the same with knee injuries.

 0

{Ed001's Note - not these types of knee problems.}

 4

27 Mar 2024 18:34:54
Edd001 thanks.
