{Ed's Note - Ed001 has posted a new article entitled, And Finally... Odd Injuries!

So i was reading quotes from Mane this morning, at least I thought i was. Turns out they were completely fabricated by the paper that shall not be named.

How can papers continue making stuff up and get away with it.

I am glad though that Mane didn’t say what he supposedly had said, as quotes like that have a way of coming back and biting you on the backside.
Stay humble and focused and see where we end up in May.

Agree0 0Disagree

16 Jan 2019 19:20:25
OP it was the quotes themselves gave the game away, really. Anyone who has watched Mane do interviews, can see that he does not enjoy it and always seems nervous cos he is a pretty private guy. He is also a man of very few words hence, he rarely gives interviews except on the club website and all.

The fact that Talk-crap took this up as some type of "gotcha" moment shows you how completely despicable these people are. Keep the hae coming, losers. it will only be more fuel for our fire and make this all worth it when we eventually win the PL trophy.

I can only assume Bielsa called that conference to explain to Stuart Pearce and Frank Lampard why he's a much better manager then them. Absolutely incredible. He's a Legend of the game, the english league will be much poorer when he eventually leaves.

Agree1 0Disagree

{Ed001's Note - he is a definite legend.}

16 Jan 2019 18:59:04
I've just read about it then. The guy is a living legend. Hopefully people will see what a genius this guy is.

I can't wait to see him in the Prem. Assuming Leeds go up.

16 Jan 2019 19:11:14
I look forward to seeing him in the PL, what he's done at Leeds already is incredible, he'll take them up and keep them up imo. It's a matter of time before a bigger club comes in for him though, quality manager.

Bielsa is a beast of a coach. A complete nutjob BUT a beast of a coach.

Hi Ed001

Was just thinking ahead to the summer, along way off I know but with Sturridge and Origi and Lallana all likely moving would it be fair to say we will need some forward reinforcements?

Agree2 2Disagree

{Ed001's Note - if they all went, yes.}

16 Jan 2019 17:54:07
Sorry Ed I guess I was staying the obvious really lol. It seems so quit on these pages and so little going on I find myself scratching around for info.

Think I might start a 10000 piece puzzle or start reading War books or something 😂😂.

{Ed001's Note - it is helping me work on some more articles though.}

16 Jan 2019 17:57:12
Tottenham interested in Origi this month according to Telegraph.

Hmmm, Spurs, one of our top3 rivals who have their main striker injured for 11 games?

And they want to buy our striker?

Starting price for Mr Levy = £60m.

Cheers Ed, will let you crack on with those articles mate.

What you working on at the moment Ed mate?

Agree0 0Disagree

{Ed001's Note - just finished a quick And Finally.... and now working on a Great Teams article, finishing off the next in the Liverpool Managers series and a new series of Comparisons I am putting together as well. Oh and doing some research on the first manager profile, the next player profile and a Sporting Villains piece. I do tend to jump from piece to piece a lot to stop myself just regurgitating anything I have read. It means I do each piece with a mind that is fresh to the topic, rather than coming off the back of reading other people's work.}

16 Jan 2019 14:45:42
Isn't it funny how a few weeks ago Fabinho was playing and everyone was speculating how he didn't fit, wasn't adapting, wasn't happy etc. and now suddenly he's a vital cog in the side?

I have a feeling Keita might do exactly the same thing to us later in the season.

Agree11 0Disagree

16 Jan 2019 15:05:31
So true, SGRed. I hope Keita starts to fire now. I thought he was really good against Burley. It is about being more consistent now. We all want him to click.

Agree3 0Disagree

16 Jan 2019 14:53:59
I'd agree with you there, SG Red. At least I hope that's the case.

Keita clicking, the Ox coming back for cameos and our injury list sorted could make for a very, very strong run in!

Fingers crossed.

16 Jan 2019 17:36:34
I'm Praying mate. I remember Fab was awful away at Arsenal, but now look at him. Like you say he's a Vital piece! To be fair though, not all signings come off as a success.

Agree1 1Disagree

16 Jan 2019 18:24:49
Fab being poor at Arsenal can happened cos it was a very intense game with lots of energy and for someone still getting used to the pace and intensity of the PL in a very high-profile game away from home, it was normal if he struggled. People saying he was awful is actually the problem. He was NOT awful. He struggled and mind you, he was not the only one who did. Cos someone struggled does not mean they are awful. It is using extreme language to describe normal things, that is the issue here, IMO. We need to have more faith with new players who arrive and give them the time to bed-in. Even Salah struggled for a while when he first arrived. so did Ox and Robbo BUT clearly, people have forgotten about all that.

Same for Keita. he is struggling to come to grips with the team and a very complicated system that Klopp deploys BUT at least vs Burnley (esp. where he bossed the whole Burnley team on his own), WH, Palace n Spurs, we have seen what he can do and what we can look forward to. I know patience is no longer a virtue amongst the FIFA Manager generation of today BUT is is STILL a virtue.

16 Jan 2019 18:35:32
Never had any concerns about either of them.

Keita will grow up and grow into the squad dynamic 🤝.

I think now that TAA is out injured klopp needs to look in the transfer market, even for a klavan type player that won't break the bank, but can come in and provide cover. A lot of games coming up and one or two more injuries will cost us. I see others saying Joe gomez to come back and cover RB, I personally hate seeing gomez play there as he's too injury prone and he risks injury a lot more in that position compared to CB as he's expected to run forward more. This is our best chance ever to win the league, surely its not the time to save in the transfer market.

Agree7 17Disagree

16 Jan 2019 10:52:13
Normally I'd disagree, but with how close we are, and how thin it's got at the back, we need someone coming in.
If we don't pick up 3 points this weekend, the January transfer window is where we've blown it.

Agree6 15Disagree

16 Jan 2019 11:14:18
Thin at the back? 4 centre halves and a midfielder who’s shown he’s more than capable there, 2 left backs and 4 players than can cover the right back position? Milly can also play left back if needed.
We are more than stocked at the back I think.

Agree15 3Disagree

16 Jan 2019 11:31:48
I think the other thing to consider here is the group harmony and togetherness. You cannot upset this at this time if the squad backs itself to get through this period of injuries.

At the moment were basically looking at one match against palace and by the time we play the foxes we should have gomez and lovern back so that would be four center half on of whom can play rb.

Then we have fabinho who started off as a rb and plays rb for brazil currently.

We also have milner who played in two victories recently at rb.

Then Rafa Camacho shows promise so the options are there.

Lets trust Klopps judgement that has got us this far and keep the faith.

Agree10 0Disagree

16 Jan 2019 11:44:29
we have two games for the rest of this month TWO, Matip is back and will a full weeks training he will play at CB with milly at RB for a couple games Gomez is already slated as coming back in contention for
the Leicester game might be to early but he will back then and back to full training halfway through next month TAA is back

LiverpoolFC8 so we lose one game and we have blown it? even tho we still would be 1 point ahead? come on man.

16 Jan 2019 11:53:26
Wasnt fab a converted right back, with matip back (for now) we should be covered for the palace game until both Gomez and then taa are back.

16 Jan 2019 12:31:18
Fabinho plays at right back for Brazil.

Agree3 0Disagree

16 Jan 2019 12:51:52
If palace score, we’ll just have to score more. We have arguably the best front 3 in the league so don’t sweat too much.

16 Jan 2019 14:12:22
People are worrying for nothing imo.

Agree3 0Disagree

16 Jan 2019 14:34:48
I’d be more worried about cover if one of our front three are injured. Fabinho and Milner’s flexibility and our well stocked midfield (which means we can afford to play them in a back 4) gives us plenty of options until Gomez, Matip and Lovren are back.

An injury to Salah, Mane or Firmino however and we’ll be playing Shaqiri as a starter, and have only Sturridge or Origi off the bench, neither of whom play in the style of our current front three.

Agree3 0Disagree

16 Jan 2019 15:56:56
I know "one game at a time" but the one that worries me is the one at Old Trafford. Let's see how we stack up against a resurgent ManU. Really curious to see how much their improvement is hype and how much is real.

Agree1 1Disagree

16 Jan 2019 18:36:56
ArAy, if you are taking it one game at a time, why are you worried about a game that will happen in a month's time, exactly? Palace is the game we have now and we all should focus on that. We will crioss the Utd bridge when we get there and not a moment before except of course, you want to give yourself heart palpitations fo no reason.

LFC08, so if we don't beat Place (which can happen btw as we have seen when they played City), we would have blown the league cos Klopp did not do what you wanted and sign someone, some warm body to make you feel better about yourself? What does that stuff even mean? Come on, man. You're not coming thru, mate. Pls, stop making situations more tense than they actually with such rhetoric cos none of it is true.

IMO, it seems people are just wishing upon a star w/ o actually looking at the facts on the ground. "We are thin". Really? How? I mean, who signs a player cos your first choice RB is out for a mighty 4 weeks whereas you have Brazil's starting RB, a CB who can play RB in Gomez and Milner who can play either FB position as cover? And what do we do with that new player when all our defenders return in a couple of weeks? Have people thought about that or is just signing a warm body to make you feel better is all that matters? Get a grip, people.

One for Ed001. Have you done a player profile on Joe Gomez recently?

I'm very pleased with how he is developing as a CB and learning from big Virg. However, I remember he had a couple of shaky moments at RB last season, especially with balls coming in over his shoulder. You mentioned at the time that its all part of the footballing education, but I'd really appreciate your views on whether he has managed to eradicate that fom his game.

The context, for me, is that a lot of posters are pushing for Gomez to cover the RB slot whilst Trent is injured, whereas I'm a little uncertain of that for 2 reasons. Firstly, my concern as above on the positional issues potentially arising again, and secondly he has developed such a great partnership with Virg and I would rather re-establish that partnership when he is fit again than have a sub-optimal partnership in the middle just to be able to shift him out to the right.

Agree5 0Disagree

{Ed001's Note - I don't remember ever doing a player profile on him at all to be honest Zed. Doesn't mean I haven't done one but it does make it likely I haven't recently so I have added him to the list.}

16 Jan 2019 09:57:29
Thanks mate, look forward to the read.

Agree2 0Disagree

{Ed001's Note - I had better start getting through the list then so you can read it!}

16 Jan 2019 10:19:40
I agree - play him CB and let Milner or Fabinho cover at RB who are arguably just as good there if not better. By comparison at CB, he is excellent and gives us pace, passing ability, and makes less mistakes than either Lovren or Matip.

Agreed. Although, we won a number of games this season when Fab wasn’t in midfield. In fact, we won when he was on the bench.

I think Ed did one on Gomez, if I'm not mistaken or aybe I am.

16 Jan 2019 07:14:30
people are completely forgetting that Matip is fit and available? or did i miss something.
fab matip vvd and roobo should be our backline against palace.
I.

Agree6 0Disagree

16 Jan 2019 08:22:55
Actually, I'd go with Milner, Matip, VVD and Robbo. I think Fab is more valuable in the middle of the park (marginally more than Milner) .

I'd go with Fab, Hendo and Shaq in midfield, with the talented trio up front :)

Agree15 1Disagree

16 Jan 2019 08:54:25
I would go Milner Matip VVD Robbo and then Fabs in midfield along side Gini (assuming he is fit) and then either Keita or Shaqiri.

Agree4 0Disagree

16 Jan 2019 08:57:48
I would like to see Camacho, he looks promising too.

Also we definetly cannot go with fab at cb again. It would give us two non defenders in the team which is probably not good'

Agree1 12Disagree

16 Jan 2019 10:54:13
Camacho wasn't good enough the other day in the cup, Palace will rip him apart.
I'd agree with Zed, we need Fab in midfield and Shaq.
I'm very nervous about this one it's the one I can see us Drawing.

Agree7 0Disagree

16 Jan 2019 11:51:13
Agree about the Camacho part. I don't see what everyone else was seeing. Fast and capable midfielder or winger perhaps, but not a FB or a wingback. And I see him as a bit small to be able to take on some of the solid tough guys who play on the wings in the EPL. Zaha would run circles around him.

Agree2 0Disagree

16 Jan 2019 12:31:05
We’ll definitely miss TAAs pace against Zaha.

Of the rest, I’d back a wily old fox like Milner.

Agree2 1Disagree

16 Jan 2019 12:58:23
Agreed. What pace Milly lacks, he makes up for in PL experience.

Agree2 1Disagree

16 Jan 2019 18:39:27
I would go with Milly at RB with Hendo and Fab protecting, myself cos Fab is more valuable to us at DM than at RB right now. After that, we get 10 days off and hopefully, more wounded bodies back.
