Huge gamble but anyone for will still?

Personally I think Arne Slot will be our new Manager, and I'd be happy with Him over Amorim, anyone else?

 0

20 Apr 2024 16:46:16
Slot seems like he’s charismatic and gets a lot out of his players, could be worse, it could be De Zerbi or Nagelsmann.

20 Apr 2024 16:54:38
I’d like tuchel now.

20 Apr 2024 16:56:02
Wouldn't want de zerbi or nagelsmann anywhere near us tbh, they both come across as arrogant and a pain in the arse if I'm honest, Arne Slot for me, failing that, Amorim.

Darwin is still a kid give him time.

20 Apr 2024 09:28:51
He's nearly 25 😅.

 3

20 Apr 2024 09:41:09
He’s had 2 seasons.

20 Apr 2024 10:17:34
I'm not convinced about him. Hope he proves me wrong.

I believe and the data is there to prove that Darwin has already improved massivelly from last season and that is clear for all to see.

It is also true that he needs to go up a level or two in his finishing, decision-making and composure in front of goal. If we quit on him now, we will regret it, IMO.

However and I love him to death, he AIN'T no kid. That's just not true.

20 Apr 2024 11:11:00
I think the move came a season or 2 too early for him, and he's playing catch up in development.

On the other hand, playing this slow turgid footy the club seem to be obsessed with doesn't help him either. he needs more direct game with balls over the top, crosses being banged in, game played at pace so he has to act more on instinct rather then over think.

Maybe whoever comes in, with a new tactics might be the one to bring out the best in him more consistently.

Nunez is a tricky subject. for all his hard work n never giving up his finishing for a top striker is poor, I go the games n there's a fella behind me who says captain chaos equals chicken head, while others praise his talents. think he worth sticking with for at least another season, if he put half of his chances away he'd be unstoppable.

20 Apr 2024 12:10:39
I’m starting to give up on this front line.

 2

20 Apr 2024 12:29:30
I like Nunez as he’s plays with his heart on his sleeve and does bring energy to the forward line.

I’d love to see him more composed in front of goal because in occasions he’s scored some screamers and then missed some sitters.

His goal record in the league this season has been ok where he has scored jn 9 of his 30 games but he hasn’t quite managed score against any of the big boys when you want your forward to turn up.

His record is

Newcastle - 2
West Ham - 1
Forrest - 2
Burnley - 2
Brentford - 1
Sheff Utd - 1
Bournemouth - 2

What we do know though is will be a new manager in charge next season so could be a new system and way of playing that suits him or it could be the polar opposite and he’s not a regular CF or gets moved wide.

Nunez needs the ball being played faster than it often is. Some of the problems are down to team mates not getting there heads up quickly enough. Trent and Macca can be the making if him.

20 Apr 2024 14:53:24
What do we think Nunez really needs to bring our the best in him? IMO it's better crossing and better balls slipped through from midfield.

At the minute I see hardly any decent crossing and our corners are pretty poor. I see lots of tidy passing in midfield but little in the way of decent through balls for a striker to run onto. I reckon Haaland would struggle for goals playing this way.

It's easy to pick holes from afar but small tactical tweaks could probably see a higher goal return from Darwin.

I don’t know, composure in the box doesn’t rely on the perfect ball. You can see composure and you can see a lack of it. He lacks composure, he puts his head down and his foot through the ball. He doesn’t look up to see the keeper, or his position in relation to the goal. That’s why he’s not clinical. He relies on pure power. At a lower standard it’s enough, at the top level, it isn’t.

20 Apr 2024 16:34:28
If Chelsea are still interested I'd get rid. He's so wasteful when you can't afford to be if you want to be at the very top. We need a striker with more composure to compete with Jota. Diaz and gakpo are plenty cover for the left and we will. jave to address the right this summer. Maybe Elliot and a new signing, bakayoko came from psv like gakpo and is left footed could be available for a decent price.

Will Jurgen Klopp Leave Liverpool On A Whimper?

20 Apr 2024 07:39:01
{Ed's Note - MK Scouser has posted a new article entitled, Will Jurgen Klopp Leave Liverpool On A Whimper?

Just some perspective.
When Klopp came in nobody really knew If he could take us back to challenging for the league, let alone get to multiple Champions league finals etc, but he did and with some of the bravest attacking football we've seen for many a year.

Now whether it was going to be leaked out or not I was against the announcement about him leaving, I personally thought it would derail us eventually and maybe that pressures showing now, but, let's not forget the ride he's given us, Im ready for a new man in and new tactics after these last few games, I think we're genuinely ready for it, but let's see off a man whose attached his whole being to the city with fond memories and decorum.

I've been through my dad dying, a marriage break up and some mental health issues all in the space of 9 months and this site (whether I like a moan or not) has been a little saviour for me, especially in the live chat right throughout it all. I've followed this site for a lot of years and I know how people really feel about Jurgen Klopp, he's one of us, a man of the people and a true humanitarian, a manager who we needed who would understand the club, the supporters and the city, and he did, with flying colours.

He looks tired and frustrated to me and I know myself that when the dark clouds descend its hard to stave them off, but much like I know with my own issues the support of this fanbase can give you rays of sunlight you never thought were there.

6 games, let's see him off and thank him for the good times, win lose or draw, cause let's face it, its been one hell of a ride

Nice post Rum Lad and brave of you to share your struggles. It's different for everybody of course but 5 years ago I lost my mum, a close friend and my wife got diagnosed with cancer within a year.

I'll be captain obvious here but eating well and exercising helped me a tonne. Get the body in shape and somehow the mind starts to follow. I also told my work I was struggling and that was the second best thing I did as they were very understanding and helped out a lot.

You can think you re mentally tough but when the crap hits the fan in life it gets to absolutely everybody. No one is immune. So I hear you big time buddy.

Hang in there and life turns a corner. Of course you'll never stop missing your loved ones but we bought our first house and just finished renovation, wife is approaching five years all clear, our kids are thriving. The clouds have cleared and I ve become a super positive person I naturally am. I ll never take my mental health for granted ever again though so I do my best to look after it and do things I enjoy as much as possible. Like write crazy posts on here. It will turn for you buddy. I know it.

As for Klopp. He is an absolute legend for us all. Nothing he could do from here on out could tarnish his legacy. It is well and truly cemented.

{Ed025's Note - i agree JK, one of the best posts i have ever read on here mate..

I agree with the sentiment Rum but I don’t agree with you saying the announcement of him leaving is why we’ve lost a couple of games.

It’s football and teams go through poor spells of form. It’s more likely it’s getting to the end of the season and glory is in sight and they’ve tightened up a bit. That’s all it takes.

I’m getting slightly annoyed with people saying Klopp’s tenure might end in a whimper. It already hasn’t! He’s given us one last title challenge before he goes, we are 2 points off with 6 games to go. I don’t know about anyone else but before he arrived I’d forgotten what a title challenge looked like. We had a freak season in 2014 where we were close buts that was about it since 1990!

Now we all seem to take it for granted and get annoyed and start blaming everyone down to the tea lady if we don’t win it! Get a grip people!

Klopp has been immense and we have been so, so fortunate to have him. I will be eternally grateful to Klopp for putting us back to the top of the game because before he arrived we were bang average and going backwards.

Didn’t you blame match going fans the other day.

Practice what you preach.

And if that slightly annoys you some more then who cares posters aren’t here to tip toe around you.

An excellent post that mate.

Great post rum, glad to hear you’re getting there. Ynwa.

20 Apr 2024 06:18:04
Excellent post Red Rum and sorry for all you are going through. Klopp’s leaving us for a well deserved rest. He’s not looked the same for a while but with everything he’s given to us it’s hardly a surprise. I think we’re all going to miss him a lot.

But he does look worn out. hopefully a year out will refresh him . in his life n his football., ( hope we hammer his new team tho ha )

Keep your chin up Rum 👍🏻 I agree with the lot.

This site will keep you busy, I’ll argue with you all summer about we got the wrong manager and signed the wrong players don’t worry about that mate.

Not going to moan about last night, already over it. But I did want to make a more general point

I wonder if the modern robotification of football has played into the hands of clubs like Atalanta, this over-reliance on systems and tactics makes things far easier for them.

Ok, they were using a man-marking system, so the obvious thing we need to challenge that is having players who can beat their man. You want players who can get their head down and dribble, get the tricks out and start taking people on. You want an attacking midfielder in a free-role who has the freedom to use their own initiative and play in the areas they want, pulling defenders out of position, strikers who can use their physicality to isolate defenders and bully them whilst switching between forcing them deep and stretching them in behind. There doesn't seem to be any of that in modern day football

Same thing happened to City against Real Madrid on Wednesday, they were able to keep them at arm's length because they knew all their patterns of play and their was nothing unpredictable about them. Just a thought. Tactics and systems will always be important, and ultimately will always win you titles. But individualism seems to be overlooked, which is weird considering how many times individuals have won games, particularly in tight knockout tournaments where one moment can decide a game.

 5

20 Apr 2024 10:26:26
As ED01 always says, "Players are being over-coached" to the point of being robotic in their patterns of play hence in some cases, pretty easy to nullify.

Maybe we should of let mo just grow his hair out ya know guys . I regret pointing out his hairline, its obvious his dip in form is down to the haircut.

19 Apr 2024 18:30:02
I remember people saying that about Torres with genuine sincerity lol.

Maybe if we got Mo on finasteride and rogaine he'd wind the clock back a few years?
