Morning eds

What do you know about our new young signing ki-jana hoever?

2018 summer transfer window is historic. It's the year Liverpool stopped buying Southampton players and Southampton started buying Liverpool players.

What a time to be alive 😮.

Saints have NO more good players for us to sign anymore, really. We have now switched to signing players from Roma and with the quality we have gotten from them right now (Salah and Allison), that is a HUGE upgrade in terms of feeder clubs even tho, we are getting fleeced in the process.

I’d take Ings as back up.

Tbh, Southampton do not have any players that we would want anymore, and Klopp has raised the quality of players we buy which is beyond what Southampton have or had.
I wouldn't mind selling more of our fringe players to them though, for inflated prices however. They took us for a ride with Lallana, Lambert, lovren, Clyne etc. Time to return the favour.

Just read Vardy has scored 7 or 8 (can’t remember which one) goals against us in our last 8 meetings. After getting sent off today with a straight red Vardy will now be suspended for our game.

There’s about 20% of me that agrees with you, Ra.

The other 80% just wants to win the damn thing this year, even if it’s by a goal that comes off of VVDs plums!

We can do it with style and elegance next time, right now I just want us to end 29 years of hurt! 😂.

So many things going our way this season. Keita being boss, De Bruyne out for 3 months (hope he recovers soon regardless) and now Vardy being suspended against us.

What's next, Mourinho choosing not to park the bus and attempting to go toe-to-toe against us?

This is our year lol 😂😂

You know what would hurt. Finishing second to utd. Won't happen though. This is ours I think. Isn't it weird how city, with all their money and huge squad suddenly look so much weaker with no kdb? And also, the signing of mahrez, could really sow some discourse among their forward players. Not enough room for sterling mahrez and sane. It's nothing major and should make a team stronger but sometimes these things can have an adverse effect.

You know what, I don't really care about the other teams. As long as we win EVERY game, the title is ours. I think we have a good chance of doing just that.

Agree0 8Disagree

18 Aug 2018 21:00:24
Wow we’ve played one game people. City missing KDB will not be a massive issue. Yes he’s quality but he will simply be replaced by another quality player in Mahrez. He may not be as good but such is the quality in that city side with Sane Silva Agustin and even Sterling who seems to find the target without the 3 lions on his chest I can see the impact only being minimal. I think that’s where city still beat us is strength in depth. Hopefully Shaqiri and ( a fit ) Sturridge can be the difference for us and bring us the holy grail. YNWA.

Quick question to both of the Ed’s. I understand we as a club have not always been perfect and Ony the last few seasons we seem to be turning a corner both on and off the pitch.

What I am surprised at though (despite all the negative press) is by mike Ashley at Newcastle. It seems he has run a competition to make a fans dream come true and today the winner was a youngster by the name of Richarlison. What a great gesture. At one point I thought it may cost Newcastle but not only did they manage to get a point after a sending off but they also made this kids dream come true and have a run out.

Do you think this will catch on?

The guy is way better than I ever thought he was. What a player, I'm gutted we have sold him. I'm pleased for him though and respect to Klopp for being honest with him.

Ings or Origi. Don't make me laugh, Ings all day.

18 Aug 2018 23:18:16
Ings was very unlucky with his time with us. Before his injury, he was the real deal esp. after scoring vs Everton. Once he got injured in Klopp's first training session, it was over for him. He then gets injured again (his THIRD serious knee injury in 5 years) and for me, it was lights out. Had he not been injured, he would still be here. Ings is the one I regret the most cos he never really got a real crack at working with Klopp cos to me, he was a true Klopp player.

Couple of points about potential outgoing players. I’ve seen grujic mentioned for Leeds, I would love the move for the lad as a year at Leeds with Bielsa could do wonders for him and his development. But I’ve read he has already turned down two options for loans in the championship.

Mignolet and Karius’ options are twindling but i’m Guessing one will end up in Turkey. Think both deserve a new chance somewhere else especially Karius who has taken an underserved amount of grief but I personally think it’ll be migs that leaves with karius stayng as number two until January.

Then there is Markovic who I also think will end up turkey, another one we have massively let down.

Solanke needs a loan as he is massively down the pecking order especially if studge stays fit.

Agree4 4Disagree

18 Aug 2018 11:55:29
I really don't understand why Grujic is turning down loan options when he's going to be just collecting dust at Liverpool. I'd also like to see him at Leeds, Bielsa would get the best out of him imo so it'd be interesting to see how he'd get on.

Agree6 1Disagree

18 Aug 2018 12:11:18
I think it’s because he sees himself as a higher level, but go out there and prove it. Unfortunately if he stays he may get a couple of league cup games at best, in order to develop you need to be getting regular minutes.

Agree5 0Disagree

18 Aug 2018 12:35:47
Not really sure how we are letting these players down. They are on obscene wages and it’s the nature of the beast at every club, you only play if you are good enough and producing the goods.

Agree9 1Disagree

18 Aug 2018 13:15:30
We have let down players for various reasons, Markovic before his move was one for the future, Ed002 eluded on many occasions we brought him too soon and we have messed around his development. And Karius is a Liverpool player who made mistakes but he didn’t deserve being dragged through the mud as he was, even if he is on huge wages compared to the rest of us. Hopefully he gets the chance to rebuild his career elsewhere as I think the ship has sailed at Liverpool for him.
We as a club have a responsibility to develop the players we purchase, some of it is also down to the player, but in the past our loan structure has been poor for the younger players, so I do think we have let players down previously.

Agree4 6Disagree

18 Aug 2018 13:18:00
You're right JK23, but i think things have to also be seen in terms of commitments and/ or promises that the club has made, to the player. We have no idea what exact written or verbal promises are made or have been made to all these players. Otherwise, every single football player (since the day he first stepped onto a footballl field at whatever age) knows really well that he will play only if he is the best available on that particular day. So for him to expect things to change at the professional level is actually quite foolish. I think most of us will agree that as a player's career progresses, things actually become more competitive and more difficult, very rarely less.

Agree1 1Disagree

18 Aug 2018 15:26:18
Not every player plays at every club and not every player works out. These players are doing a job they love and are getting rewarded financially well. They’re not being held hostage and their development is down to themselves just as much as it is the club. Markovic hasn’t set any clubs alight in any of his loan moves but that is probably LFC’s fault as well for buying him too soon.

Agree5 1Disagree

18 Aug 2018 16:04:47
Sorry but this really gets my goat when it kept being said the club let these players down.

They have been give the honour of playing for one of the biggest clubs in the world and paid more money than most of us will see in a lifetime.

Things don't always work out that's life.

Agree8 1Disagree

18 Aug 2018 16:32:25
The club has, yes the player has a responsibility to prove there good enough and yes not every transfer will work out. But the club has a responsibility to the players to try and do what’s best by them, exactly the same as any employer. Markovic barely got a chance and then shifted around on loan from club to club, if he wasn’t in the clubs plans we should of found a permanent deal for the lad.

I am not saying for a second that it’s all down to the club but they need to take some responsibility for players careers whilst they are employed by the club.

Agree1 3Disagree

18 Aug 2018 16:59:22
Markovic is a poor example mate, yes he's had few chances but he's clearly not good enough to play at this level loan after loan has proved that if he was good enough why are clubs not lining up to buy him? .

Your right the club should do everything to help him move on, I personally think all clubs should be forced to release players when they are maybe into there 3/ 4th year and not playing regularly? .

18 Aug 2018 17:05:02
Couldn’t disagree more with WYred.

Hopefully Ed002 come along and likes you post or gives you the reply you crave. Mistakes are made but a 2 way street.

If your life was unbearable in your current job but you were offered a chance to go to another job would you turn it down? And at this point money is not an option as they are not on the bread line like the every day man.

Same goes for Migs and Karius and whoever else. If they want to stay at clubs chasing the coin instead of being happy that’s their fault. They need to weigh up their options as before you know it your career has gone.

Life is what you make of it.

Agree7 2Disagree

18 Aug 2018 17:09:08
At what point do we put any responsibility on these young players and there advisors.

At what point do agents get held responsible for advising money moves instead of progress moves.

Look at players like pulisic, choosing to wait, choosing to stay at a place where he can play instead of not getting a chance at a bigger club and having the right people around him.

We have players now who are moving and making sensible moves, there's not many but they are choosing places to play rather than just money.

Markovic, grujic, origi, can, Moreno, karius all decided to move to a juggernaut like l8verpiol and all got heavily paid. Did they think they would just walk in the team. You should only ever make a big move like that when you are at the top of your game.

You know what the pressure is like and how rich these clubs are, being able to go out and buy anyone they want, challenging for trophies, no mistake places.

Same as academy kids. Any parent should be choosing league 1 and 2 club's. Never send them to the top unless there is a guarantee of at least a clear path with academy players in the first 5eam.

Put them in Tranmere, if there good enough like players like Ali or vardy there going to get up there eventually.

18 Aug 2018 17:35:11
That my point 911, every effort should of been made to help him start a new chapter instead he’s just moved from loan to loan with very little plan.

I get people say they earn hundred of thousands of pounds so it’s down to them, but the average joe can move a lot more freely than a footballer.

Taffy I post my opinion because it’s a forum If I wanted a reply from Ed002 I’d ask a direct question to him/ her/ part time rodeo clown.

KLoppsboss I’ve said above that the club and the player have a responsibility, at the end of the day the club is an employer who should do what’s best by their employees.

If you are a 20 year old promised thousands a week it’d be hard to reject but the club then needs to help their development as money isn’t everything. as well as the youngster proving their worth, see my above point about grujic.

I don't think we have let karius down. I think we are protecting him. After the year he had last season he needs some time out of the limelight as a no2.

Agree1 0Disagree

18 Aug 2018 21:11:57
Think part of the problem is changing manager every few years. Markovic was a Brendon buy and we all know Rogers bought for the sake of it with no clear plan. Unfortunately for him Klopp doesn’t rate him so he’s now stuck between a rock and a hard place. The club want a similar fee as we paid and the lad wants similar wages to what he’s getting now. Someone’s got to lower there expectations and for me it should be the club. We bought him for a project that didn’t work we should cut our loses.

Agree1 0Disagree

19 Aug 2018 04:35:49
They are being messed around if the club prices them out of a move ( which ed2 has said in a few occasions is the case) and aren't in the clubs plans moving forward. cut your losses and move them on for the sake of the player ( at a reasonable cost) and for the sake of the club. whatever player like markovic is worth now it will halve again in January.

Question for Ed01 if you have the time mate. It's been said a few times on here that the signing of Mane was a risk due to serious bad attitude, problematic in the dressing room etc etc and now seems to be the example that all players with bad attitude we are linked with will be fine because look what Klopp done with Mane.

My question is what was the issues with Mane. Unless he's performed a miraculous turnaround, every interview I've seen him in, the at home with Mane video he did, the relationship he seems to have with players and staff alike, he has always crossed me as a quiet, humble professional that seems miles away from the stigma he had when joining us. Has he changed his ways that much or was the label he had when signing for Liverpool a bit unjust?

Not disbelieving anything anyone has said but it's more out of curiosity as he certainly doesn't come across as a problem player now. Thanks for all your hard work as always.

Agree3 0Disagree

{Ed001's Note - there were a couple of issues with him. One was the going on strike bad attitude when he decided he wanted a move. The other was that his performances started well and then he would just fade out unless he was facing a big team, then he would play well. If he was facing someone like Man Utd, he would be top class, but teams like say Fulham he would just not bother turning up in reality.}

18 Aug 2018 11:08:55
Is it a case of wouldn’t bother, or couldn’t get himself fired up for?
