Hi Ed001, what's the plan with Pedro Chirivella? Is he seen as good enough? I remember a few years ago, you said he was highly rated in the academy. He seems to be getting regular gametime this season and is putting in some strong performances for his team.

{Ed001's Note - he is to be assessed in the summer and a decision made.}

My dad's favourite player along with Kenny and Eusebio. Wish I could watch the old greats in action!

Why did he play in America for so long? Surely the sport was tiny in America in those days.

That is a ridiculous amount of trophies, how did Holland never win the world cup?

Agree0 0Disagree

{Ed001's Note - he only spent 2 and a bit seasons there. There is a bit of dispute over his motives, it was partially money-motivated, thought he could have earnt much more returning to Barca. He says he chose it to build football as a sport there and his actions while there do suggest that is closer to the truth. I will do the article on his life next so go into more detail on his time there.}

Lovely piece ed on a true giant of the game. The quote you included said everything you could say about the great man. The game truly lost someone exceptional when he passed. Cheers for the time effort put on on this article.

{Ed001's Note - cheers mate. I did think that quote summed him up brilliantly.}

19 Mar 2018 12:00:33
Yeah it works fine now. What a player, what a man an absolute legend! He was in my opinion by far the most interesting man in football. Thanks for the player profile on him Ed.

Agree0 0Disagree

{Ed001's Note - certainly the most important and influential man the game has ever seen.}

Very true mate I really look forward to the one of his life, I mean there's so much to his life so I'd imagine that might take some time lol.

When reading that article I was thinking it sounds a bit like Firmino ed is talking about here.
Glad your writing a second article about him ed, Cruyff is a legend twice over afterall.

Hello eds and posters
So gutted we have to wait an extra week to watch our beloved team play again.

With Big Emre leaving and probably the sale of Adam Lallana, I think we are only 3 signings away from being a world class team.
I for think we should go all out this summer and get a solid RB I can't think of any right now but I trust klopp and the scouting team to identify someone really good.
I also think we need a Cout replacement maybe Lemar or someone with flair who could change a game from the deep end when we play deep sitted teams and can also rotate with our front 3 in case we have injuries or fatigue.
Lastly I think we need another solid CM.
We know Klopp is not a fan of the orthodox DM. So we need a combative CM as Hendo and injuries tend to keep in touch once every while. Doucore comes to mind

Big shout out to MK
I enjoy your posts
Then big Al and negative red.

I hope we don't sell lallana, why are people talking of selling him when he is in his prime? He's a proper good player. I wouldn't want to sell him to spurs who would probably be interested.

Agree4 4Disagree

19 Mar 2018 11:59:41
I don't see liverpool making loads of signings in the summer. The rise in transfer fees will make it more difficult for the spurs and Liverpools of the world. 50mil for a decent player? It seems like yesterday when ginis 22mil price tag seemed massive.

I reckon we will sign a rb but would be happy to see gomez and trent get another season. I don't actually think Clyne is too bad either. I think we need another cm along with keita. It is not lallana I would be looking to sell, it would be milner or gini.

I don't think we need it but I wouldn't be surprised if we signed another cb.

Agree0 2Disagree

19 Mar 2018 12:13:33
Fully agree with your post ss mate apart from Clyne not been too bad, personally I can't wait to see the back of him, he'd be the first out the door for me.

Agree4 2Disagree

19 Mar 2018 13:16:09
I think Clyne massively benefited from being the successor of Glen Johnson, a player with limited ability and who spent the last 2-3 years of his LFC Career not even trying. As memory faded Clyne has been more exposed to his own deficiencies and baring the odd panic when one of our younger options has a howler moment, there isn't much support for bringing him back in as a long term option.

Has anyone been watching Gruijc play for Cardiff? any feedback?

Also harry wilson looks like he is getting better to the level required.

Agree1 1Disagree

19 Mar 2018 09:45:10
Apparently Grujic doing a decent job but still adapting to the pace of English football so best he continues to build his experience in the championship. Wilson has made a bit of a splash, if he continues in this form he could potentially be an option next season.

Agree1 1Disagree

19 Mar 2018 09:49:33
Those who have watched Grujic for Cardiff say he has been very average and looked nothing but a championship player.

Those who have not watched Grujic say he has been amazing for Cardiff and that he will be a key player for Liverpool for years to come.

Personally i think Grujic is a flake who overrates himself way beyond belief and has no future at Liverpool and will be sold once a decent offer comes in the summer.

Harry Wilson again is playing for one of the worst teams in the championship and looked OK only, nothing special, what required level are you speaking of?

Agree6 12Disagree

19 Mar 2018 09:57:24
Nostra, I'm sorry mate but have you seen how good H Wilson has been at Hull? in a terrible team, yet he's looked 'nothing special' you are joking surely?

He's a gifted young lad, personally I'd want him to finish his loan with Hull and then get another loan deal with maybe one of the promoted clubs for one more season, then I think he;d be ready for us.

Agree10 0Disagree

19 Mar 2018 10:09:28
I agree Salah. Hi impact at a struggling club has been great and if he continues till the end of the season he will definitely give a difficult choice to klopp.

Apparently Klopp made sure he signed contract extension before the loan which indicates that he rates him.

Agree3 0Disagree

19 Mar 2018 10:41:15
Harry Wilson has helped to save Hull's season. They looked at serious risk of relegation but he's took them to another level going forward with his composure both in the final third and in the build up play. I have to admit, I thought Wilson's Liverpool career was over. Credit to Irish Kev who never stopped backing him. Wilson could be a genuine option off the bench next season. He was given a new contract just before going on loan so he still has a legitimate shot at a career with Liverpool.

Grujic on the other hand is going to struggle I think. He needs to be playing regularly to keep his work permit and he doesn't start ahead of Hendo, Ox, Gini or Keita all of whom will be here next season. Now say we sign Ceballos and Lemar (maybe even another midfielder too) ; Where does Grujic fit in regularly enough to keep his WP? Simple answer is he doesn't. He needs to completely tear it up from now until the start of next season so Klopp thinks twice about signing more midfielders, but his best bet is going on loan for another season or even just leaving. If I were his agent I'd be trying to get him a move to Serie A. He'd suit the Italian game.

Agree3 0Disagree

19 Mar 2018 10:51:13
Its only my opinion after watching 4 full Hull City games. I guess time will tell but i wasn't trying to make you laugh!

Agree5 8Disagree

19 Mar 2018 11:40:22
Personally, I can see harry wilson looking for a permanent move elsewhere if he goes on loan again next season. Obviously don't know the lad, so others may be able to comment better. Does he have that determination to graft away and keep preparing himself for another year or two as a pathway to being first team regular for us? Feel like its next year or bust in terms of his liverpool career.

Question for ed2 if you're about although I'll understand if you don't want to answer/ post.
I'm reading the article on Swiss Ramble on Liverpool's finanaces from last year and it talks about FSG converting the clubs debt to them into equity. My question is how does this work? Does FSG basically just use the money owed to aquire more shares of the club or is it more complicated than that?
I would be interested in your answer but again I understand money isn't a topic you like to cover so no worries if you don't.
Really interesting article Reds I recommend it if you haven't already seen it but it's a bit dated now.

Agree1 0Disagree

{Ed002's Note - it means that the club has increased in value to a sufficient level that they would be converting what they are owed in to part of their shareholding and not chasing the debt. It is tax efficient.}

19 Mar 2018 10:58:05
Hi Ed002,

Firstly, thank you for your continued insight into the finances of the game. Have you managed to sort out your living situation yet or are you still bouncing from one place to another?

Out of curiosity, how would them capitalizing their debt into equity result in a tax saving? I thought the benefit of debt was that the interest payments would be tax deductible (providing they meet transfer pricing and interest deductibility rules) where as equity gives no such tax benefit.

Red Sandman.

Agree1 0Disagree

{Ed002's Note - The owners are not making interest payments, they are in theory able to take them but in practice have been accruing the interest. By turning their debt in to equity they will not be liable for tax on the interest which they have been accruing. Plus the club has starting increasing their debt again and it will allow them to borrow more from third parties.

I am a few weeks away from the new home and am in Israel at present - if the weather improves in England we will return and likely use a property one of my wives has, or else I still have property in Monaco that I could use. So we are getting there thanks.}

I’m really looking forward to the f1 season I’ve watched it when possible for the last 3/ 4 seasons. I don’t really understand it as much as I’d like but I usually manage to watch qualifying and the race. I’d like more of these “technical type” articles for us laymen to try and understand a little more about the cars. I know the halo thing is the big new thing this year and that it’s basically a safety measure but other new rules I might’ve missed.

Agree0 0Disagree

{Ed001's Note - I will have a look at adding some to the site then to explain things. The rules are pretty similar to last season apart from the halo, though they have put a stop to them using lubrication oil to provide increased power which Ferrari and Mercedes were using last season.}

19 Mar 2018 00:00:02
Great review ed thanks. Are you a big f1 fan?

Agree0 0Disagree

{Ed001's Note - yes mate, me dad was a car nut as he grew up working in his dad's garage. In the days before football was on the TV, the Sundays were for F1 in our house. Though I personally prefer BTCC to watch, as it is usually better racing these days.}

19 Mar 2018 05:29:03
Nice one ed. Used to watch F1 religiously back in school; still remember that Hakkinen move on Schumacher at Spa, phew that was something. Why do you think viewership has gone down ed?

Agree0 0Disagree

{Ed001's Note - because the racing was rubbish. No one was able to overtake, so it was a boring watch.}

19 Mar 2018 05:38:00
I got the impression that the technology went backwards after the Ferrari heydays though, as in it was concentrating more on efficiency etc rather than balls out power and racing. I get the point that they want the technologies to be transferable to road cars but it might have come at the expense of genuine racing.

What’s your take on the budget limitations ed? To a certain extend it is basically the wage cap equivalent isn’t it?

Agree0 0Disagree

{Ed001's Note - yeah I am not convinced that is the way to go, it should be the pinnacle of technology in motor racing. A lot of things they have banned would have allowed for closer racing, which is the key. Airflow has become everything these days.}

19 Mar 2018 05:45:56
I agree ed. Perhaps in the next article you can comment on what changes might work to bring back them glory days in your view? 😜.

Agree0 0Disagree

{Ed001's Note - I have added that to my to do list mate.}

19 Mar 2018 07:51:45
Now your talking ED001
I love f1 and im talking from the mansell pique senna days
best ever for me was Schummi then senna and hamilton
nowadays have to admit I am a massive fan of hamilton and Verstappen two proper proper racers who will never accept second
just a question mate who is your greatest ever team line up
mine would have to be Mansell and Patrese coz when Mansell won Patrese would always likely back him up in second place
As you can tell I was a big Williams fan back in the day.

Agree0 0Disagree

{Ed001's Note - I preferred Mansell-Piquet or Senna-Prost as they were racing each other as well as everyone else. Once they start the race it should not be a team game imo. I want to see everyone race for themselves.}

19 Mar 2018 08:01:35
That is true but if you can't beat your partner then best thing for the team is to take second imo.

Agree0 0Disagree

{Ed001's Note - agreed, but Patrese aimed to finish second, rather than settled for it.}

19 Mar 2018 09:44:22
Great article ed001, can't wait for it to be back. can't see past merc/ hamilton for the titles want ferrari to be competitve though! i've been impressed with haas, think they will be pushing as best of the rest.

{Ed001's Note - Ferrari should be much closer this time around.}

19 Mar 2018 10:41:57
I think redbull could get off to a quick start this year. Think Ferrari and Mercedes still over the course of the season will be comfortably 1 and 2 but wouldn't be surprised at all to see redbull on top after 3 weeks.
