Eds . what's your opinion with regards to the whole Matip saga? Why has such a dim view been taken by the powers that be over it? Players refuse to play for their country (and in this case I use the term "their country" very loosely) all the time. It infuriates me that they are dictating he can't play for his club! . I must admit I don't like to see an english player "retire" from the national squad especially when they are still the best person for the job but we don't ban them from their domestic club

{Ed002's Note - I have explained the situation repeatedly. Liverpool and the player dug this hole for themselves.}

Though I don't like it. After reading ed2s previous comments on this (God knows how many times) she's right and we're the last people to point the finger we should have done things by the book but we didn't and now it's come back to bite us in the area. It is what it is. Hopefully tomorrow goes well.

I don't see how the FA of his country of origin has any say on whether he can play at club level or not. Whether LFC had a hand in Matip's decision or not surely its Matip's decision to make?

Sorry Ed2 - I found what I was looking for, I still think its ridiculous rule . but rules are rules I suppose

Morning Reds/ Eds great win last night for the young boys, incredibly proud!
Ed002 I have a question if you're around and before you shoot me down for posting this on the Liverpool page its only because I have no idea where else to put it haha. You offer great insight into the administration of our beloved sport.

I'm currently staying in SA and the Keegan Dolly/ Mamelodi Sundowns contract situation is currently a hot topic. I was wondering if you would have any info or would care to share your opinion on how this will be resolved? It seems utterly bizarre from the outside looking in.
Also, has there been any interest in him or Khama Billiat from the European clubs as touted?
Very exciting talents might I add. Wouldn't mind Dolly coming in he'd be a perfect Klopp player and the perfect age.

{Ed002's Note - I have asked someone who knows more than I do about this matter and he says that the issue concerns (a) the player wanting to move, (b) the club not being keen at the price, (c) the contract that they have has a "buy out" clause in it which the club say was the result of an error made when drafting the contract, (d) the appeals "chamber" within the Premier League potyentially not being independent and now being in dispute with the player's union over this, and (e) the timing of the appeal in respect of the transfer window. He goes on the say that FIFA has been asked to arbitrate on the basis of the appeals "chamber" not being independent but FIFA would likely not see that in their remit.

He is of the opinion that a further increased bid from Montpellier and a single rather than staged payments would resolve the matter.

I have to say I knew nothing of this aside from Montpellier looking to buy the player as a replacement for Ryad Boudebouz and the fuss caused by the City Group in the summer.

Please keep us informed what happens.}

I must admit from outside it really seems the player is being unfairly treated and the fact Sundowns has a history or tendency to really make a meal of things when players wish to move on isn't helping either. We all hope the issue gets resolved as the kid is really talented and has given his all to the team. Thanks for info Eds

{Ed002's Note - You are welcome and I would be interested in how it works out.}

Respect for the random knowledge ed 02! Quick question working on the grand unified theory any advice? Also which church is the correct one to go to?

Agree0 0Disagree

{Ed002's Note - (a) Yes, let your fish vibrate for several minutes before you try to move it - that was it will settle and acclimatize. (b) With 300 or whatever different deities being worshipped by folks as easily led as Liverpool football fans on Twitter, it is clear that no organised religion makes even the slightest bit of sense for the purpose of adoration or veneration.}

Greetings every 1,I will continue to say its very pleasing how all the players are getting a shot at proving them selves. with our RB options and Clyn injured or resting. If you where Klopp would you stick with TAA or recall if fit for the Swans game?

I fully understand why you against loans now, the understanding between our younger players as compared to the assembled 1st team seems to be way beyond better. Its very evident that they have been playing together for years under the same system which has really benefited them individually as well, credit to our youth coaches. I could be wrong but Joe and TAA compliment each other so well on the right hand side as if they where in each others heads. Iam not saying they where perfect and we all know Joe just joined us but keeping our young talent together seems reap great rewards. All in all the boys did well, Ejaria looks so natural on the ball and should grow into fine player. Wilson seems to have learned and rooted himself the is talent there.

TAA is a great back up for clyne and yes I think he should play if clyne not fit . Gomez should not be move out of CB and needs to develop there . What I mean is if someone gets injured at lb or rb we should have other players to play there. It's clear to me that Klopp has a long game at Liverpool and trying to bring some kids from the academy into the 1 st team

19 Jan 2017 10:11:57
I would keep TAA in the team a little while longer, a little run will do him the world of good, not saying make him our new first choice, but a little run to make him hungry for more and give him confidence and also to make clyne realise he's got someone breathing down his neck.

Agreed Mikey id play him a few games and rest him a few. Change between them both. He's not ready just yet but never will be unless given a chance to be. If we played him constantly anything could happen, it could go to his head, alternate him and clyne and we'll see the lad do really well imo. I hope he gets the chance for half of the remaining games. Give him the experience he requires for next season. Id also love to see more of ojo more then anyone, this kid looks special, he may not be 100% fit but considering he wasn't due back from injury till the end of the season he's done damn well.

Next season, we should have a lot more games to play, and Klopp will rotate some players, Ojo, TAA and Gomez will get lots more game time .

19 Jan 2017 15:09:52
I would keep TAA in the team - he's done well in the abcence of Clyne and could likely do better with an extended run. Clyne has underwhelmed this season, I think TAA has shown he can be entrusted with a few more starts at least.

Juanma (the young LB from Barca) in the U23 team is highly thought of so here's to hoping he can make the step up like TAA has done.

Ojo looked great, so did Woodburn IMO especially when dropping a little deeper Coutinho style. Gomez, TAA, Lucas, Ejaria all sound. Strikers disappointed a bit, can see Firmino starting up top again.

Well done Lucas and the young team tricky potential banana skin avoided

To much side to side passing from us giving them breathing space and let them regroup.

I watched the game here in Australia with my 10 yr old boy. He asked who Daniel May was. When I told him, he commented how nice a gesture it was by LFC fans to make the banner. It was a very classy gesture indeed, so thanks and respect to those fans for doing all reds proud.
