hi does anyone know how to get tickets for some games this season- if you become a member of Liverpoolfc are you guaranteed a ticket for some low level matches? Cheers

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Talking to a buddy the other night the 50% chance of member tickets has changed this year - lotto now.}

OK Thanks for reply- Might have to go all fancy like and opt for hospitality package(No.7 Lounge, Boot Room etc) Anybody have any experience of these? Cheers

10 Sep 2014 12:54:28
Hi deldel. I had a similar query last season when trying to get tickets for my brothers 21st. The only way I could guarantee it was to book one of the hospitality packages. As it was a special occasion I spent a bit more than I would have liked and went for the Boot Room package for the Sunderland match. Got a chance to see the museum etc beforehand, nice meal in the Boot Room cafe (shared table with 2 other fans), programme, ticket in the Anfield Road end. All in all it was a great day out but fairly pricey. If you are that set on going to a game it may be the only way!

Hope that helps! Cheers!

They're gold dust mate. Shocking really, it's a fact Liverpool would sell out a 80,000 stadium every game, the ticket nonsense when they went on sale proved it ,, but like Ed002 said a while back they can't go over the 60 mark because of costs or something.

Hi guys,
plenty of new strikers moving around the premiership this season. Costa has had a fantastic start at Chelsea for eg. Who do you see as having the most impact over the season. Club bias allowed of course. Feel free to add a reason for your choice.

Trust you to pick 2 Harry lmao

Agree3 Disagree0

09 Sep 2014 18:30:24
Wellbeck, Remy, Pelle, Coasta in that order

Agree2 Disagree2

Costa wins this one hands down. I think Falcao will struggle a bit at first, so I do not expect him to be the mancs saviour this season at least. Balotelli also in with a shout but unlike Costa, he is not the undisputed first choice striker.

Costa was my first pick, Falcao to bring in some people here. Quiet boring today.

Balotelli for me; it was close with Costa though.

Not sure why Chelsea sold Ba for around £5m to buy Remy for £10m (although I'm sure there were reasons and Ed2 knows).

Have been reading the suggestions for a song for Daniel Sturridge and have come up with a couple of ideas. Following on from a poster which suggested to the tune of "come on Eileen".
Come on Danny
Score a goal for me

So hypothetically, let's say Raheem maintains current form. Next season's transfer window opens and Real Madrid come knocking; not just with an interest, but determined to make him one of their marquee signings.

What do you guys think would happen? I think the one thing Liverpool has going for him is that he's close to home being in England.

Is it time to snap up Sterling on a new 6 figure a week contract with a 9 figure clause in it? We need to secure our best players, especially one we've had through the academy (I know not originally, but he was a part of it).

I'm not as much concerned about Sturridge. Sterling is the only exit that is currently possible and would devastate the team in my opinion.

Believable9 Unbelievable1

Agree mate. RM will surely be keeping close watch and I would not be surprised to see them make an offer for Sterling next season. Tie him down to a new contract with ridiculous money if needed to keep hold, because we are not a selling club that sells its best players. Markovic I think will move to Spain if he makes it big in the premier league though. Sturridge I expect will spend the majority of his career with us.

Agree4 Disagree0

09 Sep 2014 16:49:29
Keep winning titles. And no player would move out. You cannot keep Barca and Real Madrid quiet.

Agree4 Disagree0

Good question, I was going to post something similar last week, but didn't get round to it.

He has developed at such a rapid pace and is playing at a level way beyond his years. Within the next 2/3 years I believe he is going to be on another level. The same level as Suarez, Messi, Ronaldo, Robben etc (no pressure).

He has almost 4 years remaining on his contract, therefore legally we don't have to let him go even if his head gets turned in that period. However, players like this you need to keep happy. I am sure the club will look at his performance level and importance to the club and pay him according to that.

Personally, I am a great believer in performance related bonuses, which acts as an incentive for players to consistently perform at a high level. I don't believe players should be allowed the opportunity to drop their level and rake in high wages undeservedly (Johnson etc), But I can imagine how difficult it can be do get a player to agree to these terms.

TJred

Madrid would pay any player above what we could offer.
Money won't keep him at Liverpool, Titles would

Agree1 Disagree2

Agree we tie him down and insert a seven or eight figure release clause if necessary into his contract. However, why is everyone always so fearful that RM or Barca will come in. Do those club really epitomize a players career of playing for a top club. I don't think so, not anymore. LFC are showing remarkable (imo) progress under BR, and believe will will start to win trophies this season. Why does it always have to be the Spanish clubs that every man and his dog wants to play for? We can build the team and function in such a way that players will want to come and play for us. We can make LFC the epitome of a players career. I actually feel this is going to happen, and soon, mark my words!

Agree3 Disagree1

09 Sep 2014 17:51:18
RM are unfortunately the biggest club in the world - whatever we might say, or United, or Barcelona, or Munich etc might say. They are top of the top. It's hard to say no to that - usually only a childhood club can. The money doesn't hurt either

Agree1 Disagree0

If he stays fit without any serious injury, keeps improving, we have a future Ballon d'Or winner. Convinced. H

Agree4 Disagree0

Kash; 7 figure = £1m to £9, 999, 999; I agree with TJ; 9 figure minimum.

If we was to sell him next season then I think it would be a world record for a player (not sure we would have to pay QPR anything - I believe we would).

That being said; the way he's performing he deserves a bigger contract.

Agree1 Disagree0

Will Madrid pay for his 14 illegitimate children to come over with him?

Agree1 Disagree3

Sterling definately deserves a new contract, he's a top class and very influential player.

However I don't think he is liable to move to real madrid. Suarez moved to spain due to personal reasons, he feels more comfortable there, he's always wanted a move there and he got it.

For the players that brendan rodgers has had a chance to mould into the players they are today, eg henderson, sterling, sturridge, coutinho etc, I don't think we will have a problem keeping them. Brendan has influenced them well and they are 110% football focus and love playing for Liverpool, they have a perfect environment for them. Sterling is a very down to earth young man and hèavily influenced by team mates, the manager and his family, I don't think he's stupid enough to throw it all away for footballs biggest soap opera.

Agree1 Disagree1

I called it after Ronaldo said he will return to Manchester United that Sterling will go to Madrid

Agree1 Disagree1

I think a lot may be decided on BR - if he is successful the next two years and moves to spain then he will want to take the best players if money is no object - I hope BR and Sterling stays for years to come.

Agree1 Disagree0

Don't be so sure about Sturridge not leaving mate

Agree0 Disagree1

Hoola, yeah you are right. Not sure why I put in 7 or 8 figure clause, probably down to me making a wrong calculation :-). Anyway, it will definately need to be 9+ figures. However, I still go with what I said earlier, that is, we can become the epitome of a players career instead of RM and Barca.

Well I have to say I can't wait for the weekend. There are some cracking fixtures in the premiership. Swansea away to Chelsea sees the early pace setters with 100% records going head to head. A heavy weight clash between Arsenal and City at the Emirates. Will the Gunners improve their performances against 1 of the top 4?
A good start for Villa who usually do well at Anfield should make for a tea-time special.
Spurs will be looking to bounce back against a rejuvenated Sunderland and Southampton will be looking to keep up the winning formula at home to Newcastle.
There could be quite a few movers in the table this weekend.
Sunday brings a trip for Harry to Old Trafford with a few debuts expected from the home side. Can Louis get his 1st win of the season and how will he set up his new look side?
Soooo excited already. Bring it on I say, God I love football.

Agree3 Disagree0

Its just such a buzz. You look at the fixtures and compare it to the table. You try to see who'll finish in which position come Monday night. More often than not you'll see results completely out of the blue and be left scratching your head.
It's not like other leagues where most of the time you can predict results. There's usually a shock or 2 and a good standard of football. I watch football from all over the world, every age level and even the womens matches. There's none of them compare to the premier league in my opinion.
Every team can lose to anyone. The margins are so fine on any given day.
A slip, a misplaced pass pounced upon with ruthlessness. It's just fascinating to watch. Long may it continue.

I am pretty sure, Given another 20+ games to Baines or Shaw, England would still miss Cole ( England's best LB since I started to watch. )

For the First time in months, I decided to extend the match beyond 45 mts, But then Milner replaces Wilshere.

Are England Short of quality DM's?

Agree3 Disagree0

England looked ok. the 1st half was a boring stalemate. Sadly I think against most teams, this is the type of football England will play. Counter attacking.

There's a distinct lack of passing confidence in the setup which is annoying, you saw glimpses aof brilliant 1 touch football, but most are too afraid to try it. Jones looked shocking. Sterling was the best player on the field.

Pundits are syaing it could have been several more goals, completely forgetting Joe Harts amazing performance in stopping several great opportunities.

I would still rpefer Huddleston int he deeper role, I don't think it suits wilshere, his attempt at spraying 30 yard passes are terrible, almost as bad as his tempermental tackling

Agree1 Disagree0

If not the BT sports, Sky Sport and ITV's enormous adoration towards the player, Jack Wilshere would have been playing with a championship club.

It still amazes me how so many people on here are as passionate about 'Team England' (cheesy at it's best) when so many of our top players are wasted and injured consistently through the season.

Football has changed and the Premier League is more important now for the future of clubs and players, than rubbish little international friendlies for a rubbish little team like England.

It makes my blood boil wasting our players on that shower.

Alex Ferguson was spot-on.

Agree0 Disagree1

09 Sep 2014 15:53:12
Harry, a couple of years back jack wilshere single handily ripped apart a barca team that featured xavi, iniesta and messi. It's performances like that why people are hyping him. Yes he's lost something but he's still quality, he's only young, not too much older than suso and will get back to his best on a more consistent level.
If wilshere hits top form an England midfield of him, lallana, hendo and sterling all of a sudden looks pretty balanced and decent.

Agree0 Disagree3

09 Sep 2014 16:02:49
I'm English at the end of the day Davey and I was brought up believing the pinnacle of your career was playing for your country! The players still want to play for their country, why can't we support them? I still get pissed off with Sturridge getting 90mins in a damn friendly, when Rooney comes off after 60mins. Roy must know Daniel is injury prone, so why make matters worse and possibly 'cause' his injury! Liverpool will always come first for me and always will. Is it different for players like Can, who possibly could play for the WC champions in the Euros, as his country has more chance of winning it?

Agree1 Disagree1

What were people's thoughts on Delph (2nd touch was nearly always a tackle) and Welbeck - MOM? I thought he had a poor game apart from the two goals which he did take well.

Agree1 Disagree1

Delph was a bag of nerves and on his full debut it is to be expected. As the game went on he calmed down and played well. He is like a better version of Allen and would do well for a top club.

Welbeck played well, I really like the defensive side of his game. He defends from the front really well and he has pace to burn. People seem to forget he is only 23 and he has been criticised a lot for his lack of goals, but he will become a great player for Arsenal if they play him as the main striker and give him regular game time. He is a player to watch.

Question to Ed001; a bit before this website was started 9I think) what were your thoughts when we signed Babel?

I watched him in the U21's before he signed; I thought Drethne (spelling) was the better player but still happy he signed; did you think he was a good signing at the time?

Appreciate he's gone off the radar now but good to hear your views.

Are there any players that surpassed you expectations and any that underwhelmed them?

Thanks

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - I never liked Babel, always thought he was quick but lacked any real end product, so I was not so keen on him at all. He always came across as having an attitude problem as well. But I hadn't really taken the time to watch him a lot so I was just hoping my impressions of him were wrong. Turned out to be a nice lad, but his attitude was never right, he was never going to stay behind on the training ground practising.

There are loads of both, the list would consist of every player we have bought since I can remember being put in one or the other!}

Cheers Ed.

i thought he came across as a nice lad but didn't seem to believe in his abilities.

The other Babbel was one that surpassed my expectations (in the only real season he played for us); even though he was a German international he just wanted to play football; great player with a great engine (Glen Johnson take note) just a shame due to illness he only had the one season fit with us.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I loved him before we got him, always thought he was very under rated and was over the moon when we signed him on a free. He was a genuinely nice man as well.}
