Win the next 5 on the bounce and we will likley be back in the race for 4th... Its a big ask but we don't play anyone above us until Newcastle and then Chelsea is 2nd to last game but they are easy..! ;-)... this final straight of games is what seperates the men from the boys... stand and be counted red men... Maxi & Bellars to brings the goals up north and Suarez against Everton! Things are about to get interesting...!

Ive posted a few vids now Eds-hope that's ok?

Lads, 15 min of pure entertainment!

Sunderland 1 - 3 Liverpool
Liverpool 4 - Everton 0

Lee YNWA

Ps - Macca, any Gerrard news for the above games? Thanks {Ed001's Note - you've lost me mate, sorry.}

The 15 min video is quite entertaining, i miss rafa, riise, torress and the uefa champions league cup, but i still have faith in the king, already in his full first season and we have a silverware and we are quarter finalist in fa cup, king kenny will surely turn things around

09 Mar 2012 22:14:44
was just wondering what team lfc fans would pick as our starting 11 if everyone was fit and available. i think kenny is still struggling to find his best team specially at home.

Presuming everyone but Lucas, I'd go with a 4-1-3-2, like so:

Reina
Johnson-Agger-Skrtl-Enrique
Kelly (think he might do well here)
Bellamy-Gerrard-Downing
Suarez-Carroll

1 recognised CM player? That team will get creamed.

Reina
Johnson Skrtel Agger Enrique
Henderson Spearing Adam
Bellamy Suarez Downing

Reina

downing lucas gerrard bellamy

I was just wondering, do you Liverpool fans understand how stupid you sound when you mock United for being in the Europa League? You do know that Liverpool weren't even good enough to qualify for that? You will be in that competition next season, and we will be back in the Champions League. Going by your logic, you'll probably take the piss out of United because they're in the Champions League.

G.A.G.U.S

The way your playing and going about your business you will get knocked out the champions league and back into the europa. Bilbao completely outplayed you and you cannot deny that. you were lucky to get out of that game on losing 3-2.

Danny

Repeating the same post again and again are we?
ps. your funny

John

Manutd were totally outplayed at home yet again by a European Side. That's a fact! Your nowhere near as good as you like to think you are.
kidmillions

Tissue?

It isn't the fact that they are in the Europa league mate, it is the fact that they were mocking us for being in it and they are struggling in it.

BthekingB

I wonder what G.A.G.U.S stands for. SingRed

I think we most enjoy, watching the demise of your club, GAGUS mate.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

Go back on your own page n think about the next thing you wil win cus you'll b out europa n city wil win the league...

G.a.g.u.s. united days are comming to an end you had to bring scholes back reason huge debt no money as fergiet spent on wrong position and need to rebuild i mean a major transition with debt and a manager who have lost passion i was shock to see fergie shaking when barca were trashing you and yes shaking

G.A.G.U.S.
The debt ratio at Old Trafford rivals nations like Greece. As you continue to pay players like Scholes and Giggs into their forties the club will lurch closer to insolvency. Eventually you'll be bought out by FC Utd. of Manchester and be forced to wear those awful green and gold colours - not to be confused with Norwich City who are much more respectful and will be playing in a higher division.

Vs Sunderland
What I would play:
4-4-2
Reina
Johnson
Kelly
Skrtel
Enrique
Suso
Henderson
Adam
Downing
Bellamy
Suarez
Subs
Doni, Carragher, Spearing, Gerrard, Kuyt, Maxi, Carroll.

Gerrard Sub?

Thank God your not the Mgr.

You want to start an untested Suso (who I'm a fan of btw) instead of a hopefully fit Gerrard in a must win game?

Keith

Gerrard is coming back from injury and with his age and recent injury record he can't be rushed back anymore thats why i've put him on the bench. I think giving Suso a try in a team that needs something different down the right and that has been struggling to create in the last 3rd might not be a bad idea and he's played well down the right in recent reserve games etc. Not disrespecting Sunderland at all, they've been in great form, but they've got their two best players out and I think it would be worth giving them a go. Thats why i've got Suarez and Bellamy up front 'coz they've not got the quickest back four and I think the pace might hurt them.

Suso looks decent in the reserves, only decent. Far form having the ability at the moment to start a must win game against Sunderland.

Check out the photo gallery on club site there is a picture of Kenny against West Ham in League Cup and for the life of me he has a full blown erection. Now that is passion for the team!

Derek {Ed001's Note - why were you looking at his crotch???}

Okayy mate i'm a bit scared.

Danny

You talk a ridiculous amount of pish derek!
Liverpool did not play west ham in the league cup this season so you must have been distracted by your imagination of football players erections!

The 1st time we won the league cup was against West Ham!

It's not this season he's talking about kenny actually playing back then in the new lfc gallery on tumblr and iv gotta admit it does look like hes got a hard on!!!

Really looking forwards to going the game tommorow, going away with Liverpool is always great, you never stop singing best away fans in the league. It seems as though we will get 4th but there is no harm in trying. We need to try and win every game we play in and see where it takes us. Should be a tough test but we've got more than enough to beat them, we just need to take our chances. This is a key week, Sunderland, Everton, Stoke we could really get ourselves on a roll if we win all 3. The way Arsenal are if RVP got injured they'd struggle immensly. We have to keep going, its not the Liverpool way to give up. Whilst 4th seems very unlikely whod have thought at half time in Istanbul that we would win? Keep the faith and let's not give up till its not possible. I'm not and I'm sure the players aren't either.

Ed do you think the squad will remain unchanged next season. I would like to see progressive policy of using younger players in first team. Over the last two season LFC has managed a 7th place finish. If we knew this information two years ago, we could of bedded in more youth players.

If we are going to spend ourself out trouble, then I thought we needed two midfield players. DM/CM (box-to-box player) RW (tricky winger)

I also figured some of the team could leave because they are such short term contracts. mainly the older players.

(32) GK: Alexander Doni – 31 (2 year deal)
(01) GK: Brad Jones – 29 (2 year deal)
CB: Jamie Carragher – 33 (2 years)
(06) LB: Fábio Aurélio – 31 (1 year)
(08) CM: Steven Gerrard – 31 (2 years)
(11) LM: Maxi Rodriguez – 30 (2 years)
(39) CF: Craig Bellamy – 32 (2 years)

I was looking at our youth players. I think they all have potential to be playing with west ham

LB: Jack Robinson
(38) RB: John Flanagan – 18 (5 years)
(34) RB: Martin Kelly – 21 (3 years)
(16) CB: Sebastian Coates – 20 (5 years)
RCM: Jordan Henderson – 20 (5 years)
(26) DCM: Jay Spearing – 22 (4 years)
(33) ACM: Jonjo Shelvey – 18 (3 years)
ACM: Suso – 17
CF: Daniel Pacheco – 20
RM: Raheem Sterling – 16
(09) CF: Andy Carroll – 22 (5 years)

If this is the future of our football club, she really need to get these players bedded into the first team. Esp Andy Carroll, everyone forgets how young he is as a player. Next season will go better for him. I think he will be one of those players that will play into his 30s and beyond.

It seems very strange to be watching championsleague football without english teams. What has gone wrong with English football recently.

When was it ever 'English football?' haha... Owners, players, managers... get real!

Fair enough point. English clubs in the champions league demostrates the brilliance of English football. This shows in our 5 cups!

I don't mean to be funny, but last nights game. Europa League: Man Utd 2-3 Athletic Bilbao I thought it was going to be a game of men vs boys. Athletic Bilbao team looked so young coming out of the tunnel. They where half the size as the utd team. I thought it was going to be a walk in the park for utd last night. When rooney scored, you knew utd would score 4 or 5 tonight and I stopped watching. Wow i cant believe they lost this one.

The 'men' got shown up as boys

If you turned off at 1-0 your'e a fool bilbao were totally dominant

The Cardiff boys pretty much did the same to us if you haven't forgotten. Pay attention to our own team.

I dont remember Cardiff totally dominating us, Mr Unnamed Poster. They put up a good fight but Bilbao made Manu look amateur

Whilst watching the Barcelona game the other night, apart from the amazment of how good they are, I noticed something. I noticed just how many of their players have come through their own youth system, Victor Valdez, Carlos Puyol, Andres Iniesta, Xavi Hernandez, Lionel Messi, Pedro, Tiargo, Tello and two that came through the youth team left to play elsewhere and were bought back, Gerard Pique and Cesc Fabregas. With still others coming through. I also remember something that Puyol said a couple of years ago about having so many players in the first team ranks that have come through the system has created a kind of togetherness, a unity, a strength of the team and work ethic, pride in the shirt. Even the manager came through the Barcelona Youth team and spent the majourity of his playing career at the club.
For me this highlighted the importance of having a strong youth academy and also bringing players from that youth academy through into the first team. Liverpool have done this in recent years, although some would say it hasn't happened enough. Gerrard, Carragher, Spearing, Kelly, Fowler, McManaman, Owen (although he might not count now, haha) Flanagan, Robinson and a couple more are just a few examples of when Liverpool have achieved this in recent times.
Currently after a lot of investment and hard work Liverpools Academy is doing really well in bringing through an exciting crop of young players. I believe over the next 12-18 months Liverpool are going to have quite a few coming through into the first team squad and breaking into the first team, with some that have already made first team appearences. Players like, Jack Robinson, Martin Kelly, Jon Flanagan, Andre Wisdom, Conor Coady, Jesus 'Suso' Fernandez, Raheem Sterling, Joah Teixeira, Toni Silva, Adam Morgan and others looking to start breaking in. Some ready now, some needing slightly more time to build up strength and experience etc. I for one think that certainly Suso could have been given a chance by now and still might before the end of the season. His strength has really come on this season and he has that creative spark and passing range in the final 3rd that we at times have lacked this season, whether he plays behind the forwards or, as he has been a lot recently played down the right hand side, where at time this season we've needed someone there to offer something different. The lad in my opinion is going to be a star and I really think he would be an excellent option.
I think next season we will also start seeing more of the likes of Coady, Sterling, Teixeira and Wisdom.
And yes although I do think that we do need to buy one or two faces to strengthen the squad, I think a 20+ a season goalscorer needs to be bought at this time for example with morgan not ready and still progressing, I still think that not as many players always need to be bought and with more faces that are all ready at the club that could be tried and tested and brought into the first team and given the chance .i.e. Suso.
I also think that this could be done with the management. I think Jamie Carragher for example could be doing his coaching badges and being brought through as a member of the coaching set up with an eye on being a future manager of the club.
I for one think that the future of the club is bright.

It always excites me talking about youth players, we have the best youth in the league, suso and sterling will both be world beaters in the next 6 years

No offence, but Liverpool don't have the best youth in the league. They may have 1 or 2 very promising young players but they certainly don't have the best youth in the league. Man Utd usually have a fair few very promising players with Cleverly after breaking into the team. The twins are pretty good too, then you have Pogba (albeit maybe not for long), Keane, Tunnincliffe and maybe 1 or 2 more.
And, I know you will completly disagree, and say i'm just having a dig at Liverpool as i'm mentioning their 2 biggest rivals, but Everton have some great youth players at the moment. George Green is considered the most talented English youth player toady, after being considered better than Messi, at that age, by Guardiola and Sir Alex. They also have Barkley, who just broke onto the squad, and the Duffus brothers.
Some of the other clubs have great youth players aswell. Arsenal usaully have some great youth players with the likes of Ramsey and Wilshire recently coming out of their academy.
So, Liverpool do have some good youth players, but I wouldn't go as far as saying they have the best youth in the league.

Breeno

We put way too much expectation on our young players to be the next great thing. I have learnt not to get my hopes up & if they make the grade then all well and good. Too many times have people mentioned young players as the next Fowler or Gerrard only for them to disappear without a trace. Lets hope we get some quality coming through, but when they are ready. On the plus side, at least our young talent is staying with us and not trying to jump ship like Morrison and maybe Pogba from a certain other club.

The Irish Rover

If we bring two or three players through to be a first team regular, we have done well. Manutd, Chelsea and other teams have also got strong youth set ups.

Breeno guardiola sayed LFC have second best youth after barca and don't tell about how good united youth is give it a break mate. Only sydney thinks they are best in eroupe as keeps on saying they wouid walk on barca reserves

Typical united poster the twins DIDNT come through your youth system you bought them and the other lads you mentioned are not sure things keane and tunnincliffe and 1 or 2 more why dont you name them if theres one or two more none of them ill make the breakthrough it says a lot that wellbeck is so highly thought of at united, very average imo. However i do agree that we dont have the best youth suso and sterling will not be world beaters they have a long way to go cant really see too many making the breakthrough at liverpool although young robinson does have a bright future if he steers clear of injuries.
DCG

If Suso does come through he will end up at Barca. They all do.

Liverpool are in the semi final of the Nextgen series, surely that counts for something?
Our youth team is incredible and we keep on adding more players of high quality. Sterling, Suso, Robinson, Shelvey(Although he's physically stronger so he starts more games) are great players then the rest of them have high potential.

Also believing the hype coming out of goodison is dangerous. They always make it seem like they have the next best player, and occasionally they do, but I'd be concerned paying a large sum of money for any of their youth.

Can I just state that I never once said that we have the best Academy in europe or knocked anyone elses Academy or claimed ours is better that anyones elses. All I said was that I believe our Academy, at this time, is strong and that we've got some terrific young players currently at the club and I believe some of them should be given a chance.

Why is it that Foreign players seem to have so much skill and flair about their play when a high amount of english players seem poor (technique wise) in their presence should english players be trained differently...Your thoughts please

MJ

For years with a lot of young players in this country from the word go the emphasis is put on being strong, competitive, win win win, putting the foot in etc, where abroad from the word go its about controlling the ball, enjoying the game, having fun. Strength and other attributes are added in later in teen years. So all the players, whatever position, have all the natural instincts for touch and control and passing. It has changed and is improving in this country in recent years.
Its about how they're trained and played at a young age and how they view and enjoy the game, which is when you develope natural touch and control and not so much emphisis on shouting at 8yr olds telling them that they must win at all costs, they need to enjoy it first at that young age.
Kev7

Ahoy - and a very pertinent post MJ.

There is an obsession in the English game to ensure it is physical, "because its English football" and it has always been this way.

I know a chap who spent years in the scouting system for West Ham, 18 - 20 years ago he told me they had a kid with more natural flair and ability than anyone they had ever had through "The West Ham Academy".

He expressed his fears, as he said the English game has an obsession with bulking up and "being ready" for first team football. He stated football clubs will not let young players use their natural skills, and train the flair out of them to build players up for the robustness of the Premier League. His main point was clubs are creating athletes not footballers, and used 40 tabs a day Cruyff as an example.

The player in question is Joe Cole, who was put on a programme to increase fitness, strength and size and had all natural flair and un-predictableness (is that a word) trained out him.

I feel we are guilty of this to an extent, how often do you read or hear, "he's not ready for the Premier League".

We can't score goals, because we lack certain elements of flair, and unpredictability.

Henderson is a case in point, very good footballer, but no flair, no show stopping moments, but technically very good - positions etc. He is an athlete though - he could run for 24 hours and still not tire.

MJ - it has gone on for years, and is unlikely to change, we should give Morgan and Sterling a chance, and this weekend would be the perfect time.

Many thanks for all the messages of support, I have now replaced the glass in the Greenhouse and the early planted tomatoes are doing well.

BOILED ONIONS

{Ed001's Note - I agree with you up to one point, you have to be careful with letting the kids play too early, their bodies are still growing and you can do a lot of damage to them through the stress of playing too young. Let them grow up in the reserves and youth teams, like Suso has done, he has grown massively and may well be ready to get his chance. Silva is another one, he looked ready, hopefully the loan to Northampton Town will prove it.}

Ahoy - A valid point Ed001 but talent is talent - I don't think the combined weights of Fowler, McMananman and Owen on debut would make one Premier League ready footballer. {Ed001's Note - I am not talking about weight, and we have seen Fowler and Owen struggle badly with injury due to their early entry into the side. Their bodies weren't physically ready, I don't mean they need to be built like tanks, as in the case of Rooney. Some people grow quicker than others, a friend of mine is a Maori girl and all her brothers and cousins etc were full grown adults by the age of 14. Whereas I left school still tiny and didn't grow up until I was about 18 or so.}

Alot of this problem is overcoaching players at too young an age, The street players are gone in britain. I recently went to a coaching day for kids under 10 and it was a joke all they want to do is play ball not stand around listening to some guy talk rubbish for an hour. There isnt kids playing in the streets anymore which is where i learned to play.
DCG

Some very notable points.
I think it has a lot to do with the physical aspects of players, diet and conditioning, and of course stamina.

Could it be more to do with coaching and style of play (technical ability), maybe English coaches overstate technique (tried and tested formulas) whereas (South American) focus on expression and fluidity of motion.

I would be interested to hear what 'coaches' had to say.

Interesting discussion.

Food for thought.

As players are hardy allowed to make a tackle these days, lightweight foreign players are becoming more valuable for their skill and vision.

I think if spanish clubs bought some of the more skillful youth here then they'd be able to play with a bit more skill. But you try doing that here and some big CB is going to decapitate you.

Damnit! I have had enough of Cavani, Lavezzi rumors! How much for Messi?

I think he has a £250million buyout clause mate

MJ mate, his buyout clause will be much much higher than that!

Probably nearer to the £1 billion mark!

Worth every penny if you ask me

definitely isn't going to happen but i'd like to see Liverpool going for Javier Hernandez. He's fallen massively out of favour behind Welbeck and is exactly the kind of player we need.

There is no doubt he has wicked pace and an eye for goal

MJ

No way.........never

Yeah but he doesn't do anything else, cant run with the ball, can't take it past a player. All he can do is get on the end of a cross or react quickly and score. He is a complete poacher, and some may argue that is what we need but whos to say he won't hit the post 20 times in a row?

09 Mar 2012 17:19:06
i dont know abt other things of his game BUT JORDEN HENDERSON ..CAN REALLY WIPPP A CROSS..(may be needs a bit of fine tuning. ).

i really think n hope we can develop him at CENTER N RIGHT WING ...

he needs a good mentor as he really doesn't have any confidence in his abilities , but do has few .

=mayurr.

Can someone please translate for me I'm not down with all this kid talk

King luis

Well if you want a good mentor for centre and and right wing who better than Captain Fantastic

If he didnt pull out of a fair few of his challenges and then moan to a ref about it he would be ok

It's a strange old game that Jordan's best performances have been when Stevie has been out the squad. I wish players stopped being so nice and decided to all take the game by the scruff of the neck. Too afraid to mess up-mentality has stunted a lot of what could have been achieved with our new players this season

Firstly I think daglish has got it wrong! Investing money on so called british talent isn't going to win you titles, and that's what our club is about, or should I say should be about. Players like -
1. Jordan Henderson ( 20 mil )
2. Stuart Downing ( 20 mil )
3. Charlie Adam ( 10 mil )
4. Andy Carrol ( 35 mil )

In a big club only squad players!

Our back 5 ( reina- Johnson - skertl- agger- Enrique ) are proven as we have conceded the second lowest goals in the season.
Our midfield - is our problem. Gerrard isn't the player he was and still is our best midfielder. We need and quality def. Mid who can defend and also set up play (and I'm not talking about spearing- good squad player, that's it! ). Then two attaking central midfielders which we do not have at the moment. Wingers we need. We dont't need someone that works hard( kuyt ), we need quality. And strikers- Suarez has been a gods gift after we lost torres. But he needs someone with the same one the same page , to play with.
Any ways I personally would have offered Napoli 150 million to buy Lavezzi, Cavani and Hamsik then the 75 - 85 million that they paid for those 4 players and we would have seen different results!
Sorry about spelling mistakes!

Er... did these players (Lavezzi, Cavani and Hamsik) all want to join us then?

Gerrard still the best Mate

I BOTH AGREE N DISAGREE WITH U MAN.

1. SG is not the same player n all i have herd but there r two reasons ..HE ISNT USED UPFRONT IN MIDFIELD THAT CONSISTENTLY. I MEAN played toooooo deep many times ...whatever be the reason but sacrificing ONE OF OUR BEST GOAL THREAT ..for balance n defense n whatever is stupidity (n yup he is getting injured more time may be also due to he him self also knows something isnt working..n trying to give extra effort mentally n also physically ).

2 n most imp abt the signings ...

we always CRY abt our signings NOT GOOD , we do pay more money but money isnt the problem. its that they dont come good very often...SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH PATTERN Of SETTLING IN A NEW SIGNING? his fitness his proper position?

the name u mentioned do have a question mark on them but think of it like this ...believe IT OR NOT BUT in LAST 3-4 SEASONS downing was in top 5 wingers YUP THATS TRUE. another example BABEL..had he made the arsenal move he would have been at the top...ANELKA..didnt WORKED 4 US (was
good ) but HIT WITH CHELSEA..n there r more players who did had talent but somehow didnt worked 4 us.N I DONT KNOW Y WE HAVE NEVER TRIED TO FIND THIS ANSWER .
i believe .though our signings r not world beater but many r good enough n handy.put it like this way ..u will also agree the had few of then been playing in other teams say man-utd ,the would have came better 4 sure (now dont say they wont have signed our signings...arsenal were in for babel, man-u 4 jorden, spurs wanted j cole ). look at valencia ...is he a world beater? noway...but is a bag full of assists

.n every team has its shear of avg players..u cant have 11 suarez playing 4 u..its the mangers n coach who r failing somewhere in using them properly. finding their ideal position , motivating n all

I agree, I also think we'd win a lot more games playing a 4-1-4-2.... but unfortunately the FA doesn't allow you to play with 12 players.

Rugby Parker

So u wanna spend the same amount of money we did on these players, 75-80 as u put it. But then pull 150 million from thin air on 3 players. Are you completely mental? Thats 50 mill per player, you need to sit in a corner with a paper bag over ur head my friend.

After all the slating and scaprgoating (99% of it unjustified) It would be good to see fellow fans support Carra and write something positive about him

Carra for me he's a legend gives his all what more can you ask of someone

Carra is a Legend mate but Legends are spoke about in the past and although Carra has been one of Lfc's best CB's sadly in todays game he keeps getting caught short and his pace has dropped dramatically so maybe it is best for his reputation as Legend if he takes a back seat and see's out his contract as a 3rd choice

MJ

I can give 100%, doenst mean ill stop goals flying in, we need quality not people who will try hard

Can we leave the damming of Carra to another day, I'am sure it will appear soon.

Actually if one looked at the Arsenal Match Carra was not caught out at all for pace, both goals were the fault of Reina and more importantly if Liverpool had of finished their chances the two goals by RVP would have counted for very little and we would have won

Carra a Hard Man a throw back to the days of the Anield Iron

Touched by madness

Nobody has ever doubted carra is a legend but even he will look at the game on sat,and with his footy knowledge will admit its time to call it a day and will moving into a coaching role at our club
mrbrown

There is no way Carra can compete with Agger or Skrtel...10 years ago it would be a different story but it is not is it...Coates will cover Agger an Skrts Carra will slow his role to an injury come in basis

The goal of this post was positive thoughts- oh dear - most of whats posted in this thread is nagative?

Does this say a lot about the player or the posters?

Having studied NLP There are more ways to be positive than negative.

There are about 4,000 positive words in the english language while there are about 9,000 negative words - what are young brains picking up and why?

The mind boggles!

This the same legend who threatened to let his contract run out and go to the bitters on a free because Rafa knew the writing was on the wall and only offered him a 1 year extension ?

For those who come here to slate other fans that have something constructive to say, be it for or against Kenny Dalglish and his tactics, my advise for you is to either give your honest opinion on the issues raised by these so called fans and make a counter argument or you don't make any comment at all. But when you come here to describe other concerned and well meaning fans as not true fans of this club just because you don't agree with they have said, then
you should bear it in mind that you haven't added any value to this wonderful forum.

To the point I want to make, seeing the match between Atletic Club and United last night, I think those Bilbao guys have actually been tailored to play the ball in a certain way as they keep the ball so well, slow the tempo a bit with some controlled but progressive passing and create good goal scoring chances in the end.

On the other hand, our own players (don't want to mention names for obvious reasons) constantly give the ball away, especially in the middle when they should be making some good passes that could result in us scoring goals. This means that we lack creativity, leaving our forwards to create and finish their own chances. Even when we manage to create goal scoring chances, we do not have efficient strikers who can finish off these chances, which accounts for our poor goal scoring record.

As the summer transfer window approaches, the club needs to decide whether it should stick with this current squad that is seriously lacking in technical capabilities and hope that things would get better as we progress or go out there, on the other hand and recruit excellent and skillful footballers who would return us to our lost glory as the likes of Juventus, Real Madrid, Man City, PSG and Malaga - to name a few - have done so far.

Again, to those who say we are only few players away from challenging for the league title, I think you would quite agree with me that the league is not won by good eleven players alone. We need to have quality coming off the bench as well as stand in for those out injured.

Home Truth

Just a few points to bear in mind:

Look at the statistics for creative players as a whole, especially those who supply long passes that open up defences, they tend to give the ball away more often than other players for obvious reasons.

However some of the players we have in midfield find it difficult to locate a team mate with a 10-15 yard pass and that Mate is the problem.

And no amount of - he was bought for the future, have patience - is going to fix that problem.

Football players do get better with age a bit like fine wine. However whats the point in having a youngish player that may get better in the future and MAY give 3-4 years of good service. Look at all the money spent on acquiring the player, his wages over a 10 year period and the fact that he is not making a vital contributing to the team for ALL his time there. This is complete folly and foolish.

Touched by madness

Home truth you raise a lot of pardon the pun! Home truth's concerning this forum and the way LFC are playing! don't understand the disagree's? you just told it how it is!

I remember youtube having a video with the title 'Liverpool FC gladiators HD, by reggiOmarcJFT96.' It was the best Liverpool FC video ever made and put on youtube. Gave me goosebumps EVERY freakin' time. I had it in my PC but lost it somewhere and I can't find the video on youtube cuz it's removed. DOES ANYONE OF YOU GUYS HAVE THAT VIDEO, ANYONE? I really need it. Gotta show it to my sun 10 years down the lane. PLEASE!
Furqan.

The best LFC video ever made was the one about Fowler's first 100 goals for the club. Why it never ended up on DVD I will never know.

If liverpool Fans had there way, these fans who can see the future and then decide every decision is wrong, these fans who would have a team full of foreigners who are technically gifted, these fans who are unqualified as coach's and scouts but have Football manager and call themselves kenny daglish, the same bloke who they rip in to. We would be in such a better placd, hmmm. Sarcasm Nahhhh

Bore off, where in a bad position, league doesnt lie

Look's like you've had a bad day!

Are any of the youngsters going to get any playing time in the league going forward since 4th place seems to be out of reach? Personally, I'd really like to see what Shelvey can do and let Charlie Adam have a seat for a game or two.

I wonder who will leave / be sold first Torres or Carroll??

Carroll could be going in the Summer out of all Kenny's signings he is the one that's the hardest to swallow. I also think Comolli isn't impressed after wasn't it him who was touting Andy to Man City.

I like Carroll I believe if he had stayed at Newcastle he would be flying for whatever reasons its just not worked at LFC.

As for Torres i think the next Chelsea manager will think im the manager to get him firing again but i think he needs to go abroad away from the British League and Media - he may then just re-capture some form!

So who will be the first to leave - my money is on them both leaving in the summer! Torres first then Carroll later in the window when a striker has been found by LFC.

Thoughts??

NS

Wudnt be surprised to see carrol leave. Luuk de jong wud be a perfect partner for luis. Carrol n liverpool r a bad match.

I wonder who will survive the longest,
Torres at Chelsea
or the new chelsea manager to be,
or should that be the future x-chelsea manager to be?

In Jan when we were without Suare, Andy Caroll had finally started making progress but now we are selling him in the summer.......

NON SENSE....

We do not need to sell any player in the summer....

Cole and Aquilani would be moving on.....
Maxi is coming towards the end of his contract....
Kuyt wont spend another season on the bench....
Aurelio's contract wont be renewed...

So we are already looking at 4-5 people coming in to fill what we have already...
We have good youth players, probably 1-2 players will be fast tracked.....

Unlike many ppl, I believe tht Spearing is a good player....he will only improve.......We expect Spearing and Kelly to deputise well in place of the preferred starters.....That itself speaks about their progresss.......

I wonder how many of you agree with your own posts just to make it seem more legit

I an really sorry Ed but people are thinking way to much in to the suarez affair. Luis suarez has done his time as a ban due to cultural affairs and lack of knowlege, but has our global status really been that badly affected by the overall evra affair including handshake affair. If you feel strongly towards your own beliefs and dislike someone would you shake there hand, you didnt see the global recognition destroyed when cantona kicked a fan in the face, or when roy keane ended the career of another football because he wantrd to did fergie sell those players inthink not.I just feel this situation is fundamentally been blow out of proportion and if standard chartered wanted to leave the contract they would find a loop hole and leave. On the hicks and gillette matter so what if its a epic swindle that FSG got liverpool on the cheap. I have waited so long for a set of owners to be at games watch the match show passion aswell as bring some stabability to the club i love. We are a club that has rested on it laurels for many years.
On history/past and we struggled to move With the times Under the parry era so finally we are moving forward as a Club not just in trophys but as a business and we still have a way to go but as a devoted fan i am estatic what FSG have done.

Well said the above post. This issue has run it's course. Just ignore the posts that come on about it as it's obvious non LFC supporters in an attempt to cause more controversy.

Having watched numerous champions league and europa league games this year I am worried by our policy of signing young english talent . They are overpriced and overrated e.g. would henderson and carroll (55m) get on the Athletico Bilbao team ?? It seems obvious the(creative) young talent is much better in europe and thats where we should be focusing our attention IMO. Comolli and KKs transfers have all been failures of varying degrees bar Suarez

What about Enrique? Hard to say this, but the Mancs haven't done too badly with a British spine have they? It's not their nationality, but the individual player. Henderson and Carroll (to an extent) have been brought for the future.

Keith

Comolli signed gareth bale and modric. Initially, there was some sort of record where tottenham never won a game when gareth bale played, I don't know how many games it was. Look at Bale now....patience my friend, patience

redkenyan

You could have the patience of Jobe but it won't make Carroll, Henderson or Downing any better

Calm down, calm down. Having a spine of british players with a sprinkling of foreigners is a good thing. We need to have patience to make it work.

Played in a mixed nationality team myself and it was fantastic. All British or mega names is rubbish.

Support them wherever they come from as long as they want to play for us.

As for Manchester United last night, completelty outplayed by athelic biloa, Llorente was immense and we should try for him. Their goaly was not bad either! Caught the ball for a change.
Iggypop

Agree with Iggypop, the mixed team works best, especially with the FA rules about home grown players, although I know they could be foreign youngsters spending the time here too!
My 17 year old, when he was 14, played in a team and there was 10 English and one Portuguese player in the first team that usually started the matches. You could tell that the foreign player, 'played differently' and that sadly is what English players lacked! He usually was the first name on the team sheet, bar the GK! Look at our national team, no matter who manages them, they will not play like some want them to. Take their play acting out, I'd love someone like Nani/Ronaldo in the side, but they need to play alongside players like Gerrard, Henderson and in his prime, Carragher to get the best out of them. Now going to wash my mouth out with some strong soap!

Keith

Comolli did NOT sign bale and modric, the scouting was already set up for those players! all he did was to oversea the pen to paper was completed appropriately!

Errr Comolli was incharge of all Spurs transfers and did sign Modric and Bale amongst others

Was at the club yes, but had nothing to do with finding these players! in fact he had never heard of gareth bale! this from a spurs fan, who happens to know two of the head scouts!

So players opinions don't count. Yes, maybe he, GJ, should have said nothing, but if that's a rule, it should apply to all, including managers. It really is a sad day when an individuals opinion opens up the door for another profound debate on an issue that has been closed, especially from supporters of other clubs.

Read what Steve Parker said on this mate. it is a sad day when people like GJ cause the club shame

Have you read the interview properly, as opposed to second hand information? if so you would realise that Johnson caused no shame on our club but in fact defended it, himself and his team mates. In my opinion it was one of the most honest opinions of the whole incident from our point of view...
The paper, as it would, tried to make it headline grabbing but it just isn't... it was a pleasure to read a proper response from a player than 4-5 words on t**tter.

Richards

Why has he caused the club shame? He is entitled to his opinion, just like everybody else. Your opinion that he has caused the club shame is just another step in what could build up to be another debate, resulting in posters responding with their opinions. I don't know who Steve Parker is, and I don't care. He has had his opinion, it's just that.

I'm not sure why ed didn't let my earlier response through, but I agree with the above replies. GJ in no way has shamed the club. For the first time, the main stream press has shown a glimpse of the truth. He gave his opinion on why whatever that Paul McGrath said about him being an 'uncle Tom' is 100 times worse than anything that Suarez said in the first place. The more people that understand what actually happened has got to be a good thing for LFC. The truth will set us free! Nick. {Ed002's Note - It was cut because of the cussing. You also seem to have little grasp of what actually has happened and seem intent on keeping this matter as high-profile as possible. The club are doing there best to play this down and make it go away. It is a great pity that there are fans want to keep this right up there so everyone is never given the chance to let it go. Oh well.}

While I deplore H&G it will be revealed through the up and coming court action and release of all documents that it is the fans who have been swindled.
Hicks was ridiculed for stating there was a "big universe" of better bidders than FSG.

However the release of relavent documintation shows just that and calls into question why RBS, M Broughton and the rest of the renagade board were so quick and keen to force through FSG.

It seems even RBS openly pondered in the face of better bids how they could secure FSG as new owners while still leaving debt on the club and no "in place funds" for new stadium progect.

At least 3 rival bids offered full upfront stadium funding, total debt clearance and well in excess of £80m for immediate transfer fund.

It seems there is alot more to this sordid story but the phrase "epic swindle" does seem to fit.

We missed DIC now it seems at another crossroads LFC have been handed over to custodians with very shallow pockets and even more dubious motives.

PURSE LOW

The new bidders the yonks wanted, were ones that would pay more for us, so them getting more profit to line their filthy pockets with! There are supporters that wanted a City type takeover, I didn't as it's far from the 'Liverpool Way', is it! We say that Chelsea/Utd bought the league and now probably the same with City! I don't want that, although can soon see it being the norm in football! Trust FSG, they will do what is right for us, as they want profit on their investment don't they?

Keith

Keith you say man utd and man city bought the league but we spent 100 million and we have not got any better so its not all about money.

Read this in part of an Echo article:

Clyde and Co produced an email from Liverpool's current managing director Mr Ayre to Sir Martin, Mr Purslow and financial director Ian Nash apparently debating how they could legitimately rebuff a superior offer from Blackstone GSO Capital in favour of an inferiorť bid from Capital NESV.

It read: Surely our main issue is how we legally turn down Hicks “ justify taking a deal that offers, I suspect, a lower value, keeps £150m of debt and no actual guarantee of stadium.ť

--------------------------------

When I see the keeps £150m of debt and no guarantee of a stadium, I'm worried.

RedSG {Ed002's Note - Why do you care about the debt if it is being serviced? And if there were to be a new stadium you have to remember that it will be financed with a lot more resultant debt than that. As it transpires the initial debt against the club was subsequently cleared by NESV during the purchase. I don't know the level of debt right now but the stadium should eb the bigger issue as much larger numbers will be involved. I really would not worry about two year old memos in a case that will have no impact on the club at all. The point of this being raised at all is not the numbers but in relation to the simple question that is "did RBS act in te best interest of the club and it's owners?"}

Dreamworld... take a look at Rangers, Pompey et al and see whether all takeovers are so good. Ask yourself why a hedge fund, and I can speak with relative, confidence on this as I work in this world, would buy a football club with despite a lot of potential massive debts and in need of investment? I'll provide some help... Hicks would have made more profit, there is a suggestion he would have had a minority holding, and most likely we would have been asset stripped.

Richards

There is something called due diligence to be undertaken in business. We ( you or I ) have NO idea what that was for these other mystery bidders. Look at Rangers. I submit that FSG have been good for us so far and are in for the long term so am happy with them and NOT someone I know nothing about.
Iggypop {Ed002's Note - That is not the matter that is being dealt with though.}

I know it's not all about money and like some, don't think we have spent the £100m too wisely, but who do you blame for that? Downing (for instance) scored in his last game for Villa against us, so he can score, so what's happened? Carroll, scored against us too and I remember at the time thinking, would love if he played for us at the time! Again, what's happened?

I believe we are playing catch up with the top clubs, even Spurs sadly and this team/squad was supposed to have got us into the CL places, so we could improve further and be closer to the league, if not win it!

If we had spent £200m 'net', I would be saying, we should be in a better place than 7th in the league, maybe even winning it!

I will also say, if Lucas hadn't got injured, Suarez hadn't lose 9 games and our captain was fit all season, our league position will be miles better and would have warranted the £100m spent!

Keith

Why do people keep saying we spent 100 million when we havent ie players were sold and players were bought. money spent minus sale of players equals no were near 100 million

gee man

09 Mar 2012 10:20:20
I must be honest, I am sick and tired of fans and supporters constantly "having the knives out for KK".
The man is a legend and has done more for LFC than any 10 others combined.
Hey is what is great about our club, what it means and stands for.
So stop with the stupid, childish criticisms and support the team, manager and club, not try to tear it down all the time.
Long live the King, we are blessed to have you.
Food for thought.

I always have to ask myself the question, who has let the side down when things don't go well. Yes, Kenny picks the team, but the players need to earn their money! Don't forget, Kenny hasn't finished rebuilding the team he wants, that takes time, time obviously some won't give him! That might be more down to the 22 years without a title than Kenny himself.

Keith

My brother thinks he should go and i think he should stay. Its easy to sack a manager but it takes some time for greatness. If you ask me as a fan the meaning of a great season it would be to win a cup and get CL football. A good season is to win a cup. A bad season is to not finih top 4 and not win anything. So we have a chance all be it a small one for top 4 but we won a cup! thats a good season for me

"The Irritation of King Kenny"

It is somewhat sobering to check the number of people who have hit the 'DISAGREE' button on the numerous postings that have criticised GJ over his comments on the Evra affair. It makes you question how representative of the Liverpool 'football family' (a phrase that makes me feel nauseous) posters on here are.

The media is awash with comment and criticism of what GJ said and this reflects on the club. The overriding impression I get from reading the postings on this is that many fans feel he did nothing wrong and is entitled to say what he likes. This is the road to madness and I believe this issue is far from over thanks to this.

Our main sponsor Standard Chartered reportedly said they were "dismayed" at the whole Evra affair and its repercussions. They have a multi-ethnic/worldwide business to run and in the current economic climate it would be simple for them to walk away. I wonder how many fans have really - and I mean just thought for a minute about that - considered what that would mean for the club. There seems to be this groundless optimism that there will always be money and as long as we keep saying 'we'll never walk alone,' the cash will be there to fund our football lifestyle. This is the way to financial madness. If the bank walked away and cut its contract with the club, bang goes the budget for new players and we are suddenly looking around for a new sponsor. To the man in the pub waving his hand at this argument and shaking his head as he feels it's a nonsense argument - you are living in a world that has been overtaken by corporate rethinking and financial limitations. Just becuase we are Liverpool will mean little to the number-crunchers.

The Fenway Group were apparently alarmed by the media reaction in the UK and the way it translated to the States. They did not call KK and Ian Ayre and ask, "Hey, how's things over there guys?" Not in my book they didn't. The way KK made an apology as it was interpreted by the UK and US media, the management was given a roasting by the owners and MADE to apologise. This is a business for them and the Evra affair is deeply wounding to reputation and bottom lines.

It would be easy to swipe away the comments of so many posters by telling them they know little of how the media works - that would be rude. yet it appears that many posters believe GJ didn't need the club's approval to be interviewed and could say what he liked 'as it's a free country mate!' This is not only incorrect but highly fanciful on the posters' and the player's part. Politicians do not offer themselves up and answer questions on anything without prior warning or discussion about the areas the interview will cover. It is highly dangerous as it can mean they end up being verbally ambushed and made to say things that sound foolish or damaging. Football is no different. You can carry on believing it's a free country and GJ can say what he likes. The truth is, he did not have to say anything in response to any question about the incident and I still want to know why the club allowed him to do this and if he told them about it in the first place.

I am aghast at the views of some fans who believe that Fenway and its partners will just plough on through this mess, no matter how bad it gets. I am of the opinion that should the PR and media damage extend to their business dealings, then they would have little hesitation in selling up. We are still in this country obsessed with the idea that the PL and our clubs are so important and valuable that NOTHING on earth will persuade investors to walk away. Glasgow Rangers is a huge club with huge investment potential and a fanbase to die for. They stand on the brink of collapse. Parma were similar and the investors/owners walked away and left the club in ruins. Get real guys, this is not just some minor irritant and 'no harm done mate.' There are bigger issues than GJ's crass stupidity and ego to consider.

"People will always come to Liverpool because we're a big friendly club with a massive history." That's what I hear all the time and read in some of the posting on here. We are a club with new potential, newish owners and a huge fan base. But we are also a club that seems to have lost its moral direction. A club with a badly damaged reputation and a player who believes his personal comments are worth more than keeping his mouth shut and trying to put an end to a damaging period in our recent history.

SP

{Ed002's Note - It is an excellent post again Steve and one I broadly agree with. I do have a couple of comments. Firstly the "disagrees" - I am not so sure that it is the cross-section of support that is not representative and to some extent it is probably passion for the club that has driven many of the "disagrees" but experience shows that a large portion will simply come from those who don't bother reading beyond the first sentence or don’t want to hear anything that is not total in praise of the club and staff, whether it is true or not. It is impossible to then rationalise why after any loss or draw the players and management are completely trashed by the fans. My advice would be not to read anything in to the “disagrees”. Secondly, you say it would be easy for Standard Chartered to simply walk away. My understanding is that they may have considered that if they were not tied to a contract; but they have made efforts to see if the club is in breach of the contract to the extent that they could seek an exit. The contract is with the club rather than FSG (as it was originally negotiated with Hicks and Gillett) and it seems that considerable effort has been made by the owners and by Tom Werner to address the very significant concerns that Standard Chartered have. As for the interviews themselves, I can confirm that John W Henry and his associates will not submit to ad hoc interviews regarding Liverpool and if interviews are granted then specific questions have to be provided in advance and any subjects not to be discussed are declared.}

Cannot agree enough. We have to rid ourselves of this whole affair and if that means getting rid of Suarez than it is fine by me.

Fairfield Jon

Very well said, Steve mate.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

Agree with all of the above. All this could have been swept under the carpet, the media have clung onto it, but the club and players have only put fuel on the fire over and over again and enabled the media to continue bashing us.

MIKEY

Lets just move on now guys...enough has been said. We have an important game coming up, and one players views on the subject does not mean endorsement by our great club LFC, just his own views, end of

Tel 1949

Yes, a sad read (excellent posts though SP and Ed002) but true.
Standard Chartered and Liverpool FC both have global reach and impact, and should be mutually inclusive.
But, as we decried possible cultural differences for the cause of this whole affair, so it shouldn't be forgotten how these same cultural differences in other parts of the world could construe Luis', and therefore LFC's, in a much more sinister way.
If football players have to open their mouths, can we please have some "over the moon" / "the next match is a 6 pointer" sound bytes.
And stay away from minefields like this.
The Real KB

Tel 1949 - no, let's not move on in the sense you're suggesting. Everything will be all right in the morning will it? Enough will be said when LFC says why it allowed the interview and what controls it has over the players. You move on to more comfortable ground if you wish.

Or perhaps GJ should have bigged up 'British Pie Week' (05-11 March 2012).
A great chance to support a national institution and fill your face.

Does anyone know when LFC will revel pics of new kit?? {Ed002's Note - Toward the end of the season I would expect.}

Normally around Xmas time I think

Xmas time? the new season starts in august!

Yes but they normally lauch the kit towards December. Thats were Ive always seen the new kit first so a while to wait yet chaps. {Ed002's Note - So what will Liverpool wear between August and December?}

Duh! They wear the new kit but it is never officially revealed until early December!

Im I the only one on crazy pills here? {Ed002's Note - Sorry I did not realise that. So the new marketing ploy is not to unveil and sell the kit. It is an interesting plan and certainly one we have never seen before. Great stuff.}

It'll be shirts & skins in that period ed lol.

Do they not play in them last home game of the season?? it dose not matter when there are out half the fans on here will say they ars s**t anyway

The current home kit was officially lauched on 6th May 2010...So, I'd say early May 2012 would be a good guess for the new kit. The first photos appeared early April 2010 so April 2011 would be a good guess too!

The launch is usually in May Ross

**Of course, above, I meant April 2012 - not April 2011!!

Just read KKs response to the Suarez to PSG rumours. Love that guy - took out his bullsh*t detector and showed the tabloid press how pathetic their attempts at 'news' really are.

I agree Coz mate - starc contrast to how Hodgson handled the Torres rumours. The point of difference is that Dalglish has the clubs interest's at heart, whereas Hodgson had the media's interst's at heart.

Oh how I cringed when Hodgson had a press conference.

LIVERPRES

Oh how i cringed when i looked at Hodgson's face!

Was at Old Trafford tonight for the medical cover. Have to say Bilbao were excellent and fully deserved their victory. Always nice to watch Utd get totally outplayed and hear the fans around me crucifying their team. Also credit to the Bilbao fans who were well behaved and totally drowned out the home support.
Stand out players were llorente and muniain. Both looked class acts. Either one in a Liverpool shirt would do for me.

Would it be out of the question for Liverpool to open up a youth academy in South America maybe Argentina? Or would that not be a feasible?

Or Uruguay, but isn't there an issue with UK work permits, when it comes to South American players unlike teams in Europe

Here is an interesting post on football365 today

Some Managerial Statty Stuff
A combination of boredom and stat=loving has compelled me to compare the first 40 games in charge for the current managers of the top seven.

Roberto Mancini - W20 D9 L11
Alex Ferguson - W12 D11 L17
Harry Redknapp - W18 D9 L13
Arsene Wenger - W17 D12 L11
Andre Villas-Boas - W19 D11 L10
Alan Pardew - W13 D15 L12
Kenny Dalglish - W20 D10 L10

Although these all contain cup games, if you treated them all as league games they would give the following points:

Kenny Dalglish - 70pts
Roberto Mancini - 69pts
Andre Villas-Boas - 68pts
Arsene Wenger - 66pts
Harry Redknapp - 63pts
Alan Pardew - 54pts
Alex Ferguson - 47pts

Very interesting reading but no doubt the impatient, quick-fix generation (Leo, Indian Buzzer, etc) still want KK out after a year.

Good post..
And to think Mancini's team was already 3/4 built..!

I think what we saw tonight was an example that spanish football is the best league in the world, for the 5th best team in Spain atm to not just beat but outplay the English champions show's that Spain are ahead of everyone by a long way. Not only are they technially better but have such an understanding for each other. I think if we wanna get anywhere in the future we have to be looking at these sort of players e.g Munain, Martinez, Tello etc. Not only are they miles ahead of some of our players but also have a good re-sale value.

However our youth is based around this spanish ethos thanks to rafa and i beleive that with these youngsters coming through and with some of the players i mentioned above brought in, i feel we have a bright future.

Sorry for rambling on. AteroZ 96

The current United team is one of the most over-rated I have ever seen. Only inertia, their recent record, and the fawning media maintains the air of greatness around them.

I guess rafa knew the way

Ed in ur honest opinion, if we were to sign Luuk de Jong do you think he would do well in the premier league? {Ed001's Note - yes I do, he seems suited to the Prem.}

Really hope we go for him in the summer , quality young player , will just get better and better i think.............lfc
