Feeling great thank God. Here I must ask you this. When Kenny left the job in 91 and if he had to come back after a good rest was the club in good shape financially? You alway's said Moores hated spending money especially his own and plus Sir Bob had retired so I alway's wondered how it would have worked something we will never know unfortunately mate.
{Ed001's Note - I don't know for sure, but when the great Sir Bob retired we went backwards quickly, even with Dalglish in charge. Partially down to what had happened, but there was a major issue with recruitment without him and that was the main cause of our struggles.}

I read up on something you mentioned previously Ed001, and it sounds like Geoff Twentyman leaving was a huge blow to LFC. Most of our best players back then came from lower divisions, such was his incredible eye for talent!

I always thought that there must be plenty of players at lower levels that never got a shot. I also wonder about the many players playing at semi pro sides or lower who kunt at the chance to even train with a league two team.
There was a guy who used to play up front for our local side, not even semi pro and get around 30 a season. Did it every year until he was around twenty five, and now he's playing about 6 leagues higher up and still getting 30 a season.

Morning all.
I'd like to ask the ed/ s and Reds what they make of Klopp's assertion that "Liverpool played it cool in the transfer market (January) as it would have taken crazy money".
It seems to me that point has passed already and the genie is out of the bottle.
If the club wants a player, should they do what they need to make it happen?
The transfer market is not going to suddenly realign itself to past levels?
It's not to say that there can't still be value in the market - Liverpool have hit pay dirt with Salah - but have we got to a point where risk v reward has become too inhibitive?

Klopp is probably referring to the pc money. People see we have made a lot on the pc deal and may have charged inflated prices. They may also see lfc willing to spend 75mil on Vvd and think we are making rash purchases. But, like ed01 says, we don't know what prices were knocked about so it's hard to say.
We have seen throughout the modern game, every few years there is a game changer in terms of fees. Roberto baggio, shearer, pogba and Neymar. It generally takes a couple of years for the market to settle down and I for one am glad we didn't blow 200 mil on two players in January. Let's wait until summer and see what's what.

Based on the last few performances, we need Hendo fit to finish the season respectably.

Shows that some people still realise the importance of a fully fit Hendo in the first team instead of the idiots on twitter wishing more injuries on him.
{Ed001's Note - I just don't understand how people still question his importance, it has been shown time and time again. It is irrelevant whether he is the best player or not, teams are not made up of the best players in every position. You have to have a mix of the right kind to bring balance.}

I just saw your headline as well, Ed. Don't do that to me, okay? LOL. I'm with you as well on the Hendo tip. People use crazy standards to judge Hendo knowing fully well that he is not that type of player, to slate him. Something that disingenuous or dishonest does not merit a debate, IMO. He has proven to be more important to us mostly when he does not play time and again YET his haters can't get a clue. I will always repeat your quote on this issue, "Those who slate Hendo lack the footballing intelligence to discuss the matter". I stand by that quote.

Haha glad I saw the comments about Henderson before I read that. So cruel ed, well played. Also interesting read about grujic as well- hopefully it’ll bode well for him and eventually us. And lastly, heartbroken about Wes retiring. The lad was fantastic for Ireland yet O’Neil the muppet never trusted him. Few people rate him but he is one of the most underrated footballers to play in the premier league. Great post ed, cheers.

Henderson is the best cm at the club and we have some decent cms. Maybe this Changes when Keita arrives but for now we should be praying he stays fit as we are going to need him if we hope to finish top 4. Lallana is brilliant and after such a lengthy injury it is perhaps easy to forget the guys class but I'd class him more as an acm than a straight cm.

Henderson is one of the best players at the club. For me he is undoubtedly in the top 5 and probably in the top 3.

There is my top ten. Maybe milner should be in it, two years ago he would have. A lot of people would have gini above the likes of taa and gomez and Can would be higher on a lot of people's lists but it's a subjective view. I also think there is a case for mane being number 1. Salah gets the goals but mane is maybe the better overall player but I love firmino's work rate and he has added goals this season. Mane slight lack of form is why he is only 3rd.
