Macca saying ince is done.......done as in signed or done as in deal off?
Jenko

Macca you are the man! might I ask... Are we still interested in Walcott or is that dead and buried now?

Macca, with regards to ince being a done deal when can we expect it to announced please post and keep up the good work

Cheers Macca about Ince. Im not sure on his ability or personality and think its a mistake but this is my opinion. Who was it who sold him for copper? Who is it who wants him back for stupid money? I only ask because thats not very businessy is it? Our owner sell to buy back at a stupid fee gets me wondering how the heck did they ever make money?.

Its good to see all these kids who Benitez brought in and who got the right coaches thanks to rafa are now coming through the ranks..the part of the job i guess you do see but well done rafa and thanks

Looking forward to seeing yet another young talent albeit one we unfortunately had to let go

£5.5million with a possible loan (which means we pay a net of around £3million)

Would you Spit or Swallow!!
For Benitez

Anyone know how Martin Kelly getting I. With his rehab for his knee

08 Jan 2013 22:54:51
I'd even rate Ibe and McLaughlin higher than ince.

Ince was ripping it up for the reserves and u18's when he was here also {Ed001's Note - he was dropped a number of times due to Sterling's emergence and was sent out on loan to ensure the pair both got regular footie. He was far from ripping it up, which is why his dad was so adamant he needed to play in the first team. As has been shown, Paul was correct, the lad has come on in leaps and bounds, though I still remain to be convinced he is an improvement on Sterling, Ibe, Sinclair, Suso and Adorjan, all of whom he will be fighting for a place with.}

Ibe is unproven at an adult level, he will get his chance but ince has actually gone out there and proved himself with loads of goals and assists

08 Jan 2013 22:47:29
hi all another 2 goals for yesil tonight in a fine win, can you see ed br giving this lad a chance any time soon?imo this lad would score goals in the 1st team if giving his chance.ray {Ed001's Note - I thought he would have got a chance sooner to be honest. Impossible to say yes or no though, he might get injured and be unable to play.}

In the game he played for the first team he looked out of his depth and easily shaken off the ball. Whether he just needed some confidence or experience is hard to say but he looked like he could do with some bedding in.

cozinoz

He had a chance versus anzi and looked like he was playing in trainers, better to let him develop first before throwing him in imo

08 Jan 2013 22:36:07
Not Liverpool related but quite amusing. C Ronaldo couldnt cast a vote in the Ballon D'Or as he was being treated for a cut on his head (which obviously prevented him from using the phone or email). So the honour was passed on to the Portugal vice-captain, Alves, who voted for.......................Ronaldo. Strangely, Messi didn't make his top 3 either (but Van Persie did).

08 Jan 2013 22:21:40
Is Liverpool's lack of transfer funds due to the owners being more careful because they don't want something similar to the Carroll saga to happen again?

Quick you kid!

I suspect it has more to do with a lack of cash on hand than anything. Think the owners will come out of their pocket a bit on top of what they've already given (which has been plenty), but I certainly don't expect them to grant many more tens of millions that the club itself hasn't earned.

Not knocking the owners at all as I don't fault them for it in any way, but sell to buy, more or less. We've still got a handful of players on pretty high wages, once their gone things may pick up a tad (or if we sell some players, obviously).

08 Jan 2013 22:15:49
just been looking at ince stats this season 10 goals and 13 assists pretty good but can't help thinking not playing every week and bearing in mind its championship will he do well i suppose we all have to clear are minds and give the lad a chance and i don't mean one or two games never know he might come off the bench and score the winner against the mancs ha heres hoping

mayhem 1981

They are pretty awesome stats for half a season playing on the wing! Bearing in mind his age and the fact that the Championship is a tough league his stats this year are amazingly good. I just hope he's got a good attitude - sometimes he seems like a bit big time Charlie - hopefully he'll knuckle down.

Belfast Pete (formerly known as Biscanifyoucan)

In no way am i knocking those impressive stats, but i do believe one or two were penalties. nevertheless a goal threat

so pleased to see Sahin is leaving for Dortmund just glad we only loan him otherwise it would have been Aqualani all over again. The boy just isent up to the riggers of the Premiership. With him and Joe Cole of the book it will save 200 thousand a week. Must mean someone is coming in hope its someone good.

Where are posters coming up with story that shin is definitely leaving?

On a separate note, getting loads of grief from self satisfied mancs about weekends fixture. Here's hoping we can give them one in the eye!

08 Jan 2013 23:52:21
Kevin Gameiro on loan with an option to buy at the end of the season.

08 Jan 2013 22:08:53
If I was liverpool manager first thing would be getting as much for Carroll as I could 10-14 mill plus extra packages would take 10 for downing once doing that would persuade owners for more transfer funds explaining the value of suarez if sold 50+mil and sterling if sold 15+ hoping for a healthy kitty would wait for the summer for either likes of cavani, giovinco, dzeko, tello, etc a top striker we need a new winger to replace downing and go outside the prem preferebely italian league spanish league have a lot of top quality midfiielders with there club willing to cash in but as we no striker and playmaker have to be young as the owners would want to cash in if went wrong my personal opinion is owners brought Rodgers in knowing he could up the value of the squad and the academy if they know that y not let him bring them 25+ players and make them them 50 60 mil targets man city Real Madrid psg juventus Barcelona stop chatting on now but at the end of the day if it all went bad for the owners we have got the players to back it up BIG Big issue Aswell have we even got any scouts in any countries anymore because all the other teams gettin the quality players all over the world and just seems we got them over in Blackpool and London wa you Wrekin eds liverpool pudding

Ha, no chance, Slur Alex will block our appeal, and Webb will get a double bonus, plus a win bonus .

Absolutely brilliant... well put!

Suspension extended to 4 games due to frivolous appeal, sorry

Gav

Haha, quite decent actually!

It's good you've got a nice lineup of excuses ready, I mean, even if we do win handily without any questionable decisions - it'll never be your fault, will it? Nah, can't be that your first team is terribly mediocre, surely. Point the finger at everyone but the team itself!

Anyway, may the best team win!

08 Jan 2013 21:44:49
Our kids are really good. McLaughlin was outstanding. {Ed001's Note - in my opinion he is currently the outstanding player in our youth teams, even more so than Ibe and Sinclair. If we didn't have Johnson, Kelly and Wisdom ahead of him, I am sure he would be getting the cup games.}

He reminds me of a young Veggard Heggam excellent player.

Red1

How old is he?

Hegemony was ace, so if you are correct, that sounds pretty good to me.

ND

^18 i think

He is a much better player than Heggem, in a couple of years he will be our no 1 rb, Kelly and Wisdom will be battling it out for cb spot.

08 Jan 2013 21:25:22
Surely we don't need ince with ibe coming through and other exciting youngsters. We should keep the money in the bank and wait for the established world class players to come available while continuing to bring the youngsters through as their are many that could make the step up.

'established world class players to come available'

course we should, lets pay 50m for an 'established world class player who comes available' instead of getting them for 5m before they become 'established world class players and available'

08 Jan 2013 21:22:21
With Nuri Sahin off to BVB, are we going to buy any midfielder during this window.

08 Jan 2013 21:03:27
Eds out of interest why did liverpools total club value drop so in 2011? We went from being worth $822m to $552m in the space of a year, what caused this? (According to forbes list's worlds richest football clubs) {Ed001's Note - the club made a huge loss.}

08 Jan 2013 20:19:14
Correct me if I'm wrong but the rules in the next gen are 18 players, 3 can be 19 and the rest 18 or less, only 2 of the 'over age' players can be on the pitch at once, Liverpool have 3 'over age' players on the pitch now, which would lead to them being disqualified? Is this in anyway related to the reason totenham were diaqualified last yar when Inglerhorpe was their? Any help would be much appreciated {Ed001's Note - this is the rule in question: Each match-day squad will consist of a maximum 18 players. All players must be born on or after January 1st 1994 although 3 players are allowed who are born on or after January 1st 1993. The inclusion of the 3 older players is an ‘option’ for each participating club and not a stipulation.

I can't see anything regarding how many are on the pitch at all.}

08 Jan 2013 16:54:41
A question for ed001: how would you rate our youth ranks compared to those of other leading Premiership teams? I am fairly excited with the potential coming in, Ibe, Coady, McLaughin, and so on, but truth be told, I have no idea what other teams are doing in their B-ranks. For instance, Chelsea have a huge number of players on loan in teams abroad - are the likes of de Bruyne, Kalas and etc. developing better than our crop of home-grown players? Arsenal and City also seem to have invested in some young starlets.
Would be grateful if you would share your views on the youth set-ups.

Cheers,
a very bored Drigan {Ed001's Note - impossible to say, most teams have their best youths out on loan, so comparisons are difficult. Our youth set up is excellent, we have a number of players that have the potential to play first team football for us. The issue is the next step, how many of them will get the chance to get a run in the team? Then it is whether they can not just play well, but play consistently well to keep their place.}

08 Jan 2013 21:24:38
Great site here Eds...what are the chances of Suarez leaving either in this transfer window or the next one, because I've heard he has a 40m buy out clause? Cheers {Ed019's Note - There is no clause as far as I know, but there always is a chance, but a slim one}

Roubt chelsea eould be interested after the torres affsir lol

Why are there so many hopeful fans of other clubs posting on here? Hes already said he is willing to wait for cl like he did with Ajax

40m for Suarez is like getting a De Vinci original at Poundsaver.

08 Jan 2013 21:23:42
hey eds is there some ban put on us by the FA on buying non-English players :P {Ed019's Note - No}

Rodgers has brought in 5 first team players. An Italian, a Welsh man, a Turkish man, a Moroccan and finally one English man. Under Dalglish we signed a Welsh man, a Scottish man, a Brazilian, a Spaniard, two Uruguayans and 3 Englishman.
I really, really, really don't understand this idea that we 'only sign English players'.

Now we just need a good joke to accompany the cast you have assembled!

ND

An Englishman, a Scotsman & an Irishman are the last 3 managers of us.

08 Jan 2013 21:22:21
With Nuri Sahin off to BVB, are we going to buy any midfielder during this window. {Ed019's Note - Probably not, unless a perfect Number 10 just happens to become available at an affordable price}

Belhanda !! what do you reckon Ed ?
or should we wait for erickson in summer ? {Ed001's Note - neither for me, I would rather give Suso a run there, with Teixeira as the back up.}

08 Jan 2013 21:09:33
Good job, well done to the boys, easily outplayed Inter, who are the holders afterall, great individual performances by many of our younsters, especially Maglauchlan Ibe, my one question to you eds is, After watching both Ibe and Ince on numerous occasions, why are we willing to pay millions for Ince when in my opinion Ibe is far superior footballer in all departments, and is years younger so has time to improve also, Ibe for me over Ince all day long, Thankyou eds..

You answered your own question mate. because he is younger and no where near ready for a run in the prem.

Just been watching the Next Gen series match, fair do's there's so much young talent coming through the ranks. Yesil, Coady, Ibe just to name a few, don't know what all the panic is about on new signings, the futures bright, the futures RED !

And Sinclair, this is why Ince could be a bad signing it would halt the progress of these lads.

08 Jan 2013 21:01:36
I think tonight just shows you how far our academy has come, beating the NexGen holders Inter Milan 4-1. This season so far has been a huge success for the academy.
-U21s only Unbeaten team in England
-U19s through to the last 16 of the NexGen competition.
-Achieved the following without the likes of: Sterling, Suso, Wisdom etc.
-New academy manager in Alex Inglethorpe who maintained his 100% record tonight.

Yesil, Coady, McLaughlin, Ibe and Sokolik are stars in the making, especially Ibe and Yesil.

Just in case any of you we're curious, match facts:
Liverpool, goals: Coady (2), Yesil (2)
Inter, goals: Benassi

Special mention to Ryan McLaughlin who got 3 assists from RB! I'm pretty sure that RB position is covered for the next 15 years.

Get ready for the 2nd half of the season you young reds!

Spurs best them 7−1 last season!

youve got to laugh at the scousers, i mean it was only a few months ago you where all laughing about sahin being a class player and how liverpool got sahin from under arsenals nose by offering 30k a week more than arsenal, and now you want rid of him lmao.what was it again 5mil for a one season bench warmer LLF.its almost as funny as selling tom ince 18 months ago for 250k and now are haggling over a 6mil fee to bring him back LMAO, next you will be saying saurez isnt a cheating morale-less c--t and its all a website fault, OH WAIT! LOL {Ed019's Note - You have no clue do you}

Well its all true and shamefull but atleast we still win trophies lol .. how long is it now gunners?
And yo think youll be struggling for a top 4 spot this year haha... we might be crap lid but atleast we know we are.

Obviously a Manc trying to give it.Who was it that sold Ronaldo and now wants him back. How much in debt are Man utd or have you got a selective memory you plank.

-----

I know, that was a bad transfer. But hey-ho, £30million garnered from winning the EPL is a drop in the water for a team that has actually won it. I can see why the transfer seems so mind-blowing to Liverpool fans - to any other fan, we spent £30m on what was generally regarded to be one of the world's finest CM players.....£30m that came from winning trophies.

Wouldn't expect Liverpool to grasp that concept, biggest team in the EPL? Haven't even won it!

Kevin Strootman is closing in on an £18m move to the Premier League, according to sources in Italy.
Manchester United have been linked with the Holland international extensively, while Liverpool and Arsenal are said to be keen.
AC Milan want Strootman as well but reports in Italy suggest a Premier League side has now come forward.
PSV remain adamant the 22-year-old, who is eligible for the Champions League, is not for sale in January.
Privately, though, it is believed they are willing to cash in as long as the price is right - and £18m could be enough to do a deal.
United appear to be the frontrunners for his signature - Sir Alex Ferguson has lacked a dominant presence in midfield for many years now and Strootman recently spoke of his pride at being linked with the Red Devils.

08 Jan 2013 20:54:48

08 Jan 2013 20:44:56
Hi edds

Is there any truth we are looking to get rid of Sahin to free up cash for Ince?

If that's the case then for the first time since FSG came in I'm starting to question them, if they want LFC to succeed they need to back BR

I thought when we had that clear out last summer we were saving £400k+ a week in wages, if we get rid of Sahin to get Ince I'm a very worried #LFC fan.

Theba300 {Ed019's Note - Sahin wants to leave so he can get first team football, and he feels he won't that much here with Lucas ahead of him}

08 Jan 2013 20:42:09
Now we look like losing Sahin. He has the potential to be a great player but the timing was all wrong. I said when he was being signed not to expect great things as he was coming off a whole year of injury and no matter what it is game time you need to get your sharpness back. He is just not been given it for a whole lot of reasons (not been good enough, Henderson starting to look like a good player, etc.)

Anyway, there is a player that looks like leaving his club that looks a tremendous buy at 10 million euros. Ivan Rakitic. It looks like he is going to Lokamotiv Moscow to team up with his ex-national coach, Slaven Bilic. This boy is only 24 and he is a very very good play maker. He can play either beside Lucas or behind Luis Suarez. Good passer of the ball, good shot and good delivery at set pieces. At 10 million euros or 8 million pounds we could buy him for nearly what we have paid for Sahin.

He does not want to leave Sevilla because his girlfriend is from there and she is pregnant but Sevilla are in real financial trouble. A creditor is forcing Sevilla to sell either Negredo or Rakitic.

Orrin Middleton

08 Jan 2013 20:35:40
I'd just like to clarify that if the Sahin rumours are true and he's leaving because he's not playing in his preferred 'deeper role' - then he can p off immediately.

On top of that he can't even get into the Turkish team right now and with good reason too. Players such as Selcuk Inan and Hamit Altintop are playing a lot better than he has when he's been given a chance.

This is another reason I'm not a big fan of loan deals - sometimes their heart is just not in it for the long haul.

08 Jan 2013 20:32:51

08 Jan 2013 20:25:20
Liverpool are set to offer Spurs goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes a ticket out of his White Hart Lane misery, Gomes who is surplus to requirements at Spurs is seen as an ideal replacement for the mistake ridden Pepe Reina. My source confirmed a £7.6m bid is imminent.

LOL. That's ridiculous.

Yeh lets buy mistake ridden gomes for mistake ridden reina, this sounds like amazing scouting and i truly believe your source is none other then the sauce that comes from your a**! RedTurk

A wind-up. And a poor one at that

Your source must be fxxking mental!

So Pepe has problems with handling and corners and we replace him with someone who is worser-than-worse for him?
Has Messi's imminent move to LFC been postponed aswell??

Watching Jordan Ibe tonight he's come on bundles since we seen him in Toronto, ripping Inter apart in periods. I say if Ince wants to come back tell him to ride out until the summer when he's free. Ibe is gonna be a player.

08 Jan 2013 20:19:10
Liverpool are said to be closing in on a deal for talented Lazio defender Modibo Diakite after holding a second round of talks with the player.

Imposing centre-back Diakite is out of contract at the end of the season, and is now free to talk to other clubs about a pre-contract move in the summer.

Aston Villa have also been linked with an approach, but Reds boss Brendan Rodgers has moved first, and has spent the last month trying to thrash out a deal.

An initial round of talks that took place before Christmas proved fruitless, with wages and contract length rumoured to be the sticking points. However, the Italian press claim Liverpool are now more hopeful of reaching an agreement after a second meeting this week.

It's thought that Rodgers is willing to hand over a chunky signing-on fee if the Frenchman compromises on his contract demands.

Diakite, a leggy, powerful defender who can also play in midfield, could replace veteran Jamie Carragher, 34, or homesick Uruguayan Sebastian Coates.

08 Jan 2013 20:16:59
German daily Bild claim that Liverpool target Kevin Grosskreutz is edging nearer to a Borussia Dortmund exit following stalled contract talks.
The 24 year old is into his fourth season at the Westfalenstadion and was a pivotal member of the club's back to back Bundesliga title successes and as such not a player Jurgen Klopp would be keen to lose.
Brendan Rodgers is reportedly keen on bringing in the talented wide-man to help boost creativity in his Anfield squad but one wonders if Borussia Dortmund might well lose another member of their squad having seen the likes of Shinji Kagawa and Nuri Sahin leave over the past couple of seasons.
Rodgers has seen youngster Suso and Raheem Sterling greatly impress on the flanks after but clearly the two teenage talents will need time to grow into their roles and therefore a move for an experienced and able addition like Grosskreutz would be a wise one to consider.
Local born Grosskreutz has racked up over 130 appearances for the Westfalenstadion side since he moved to the club back in July 2009 and the German international has been a consistent source of attacking invention for Klopp over recent seasons.

------------

This one could be true as its well documented that we are interested in him and it wouldn't cost much as he has 18 months or so and also it would be a valuable signing as he has lots of experience and would be a 1st team regular

Watching the under 19s first half vs Inter and Ibe, Sinclair, Yesil and Mclaughlin all look fantastic prospects for the future. Do you think there is any chance in maybe Ibe getting the chance over next season looks as if he could be as good as Sterling to me

The under 19's were brilliant. There were certainly a number of exciting prospects for the not so distant future!

Of course, there would be nothing better than to beat the Mancs on their own manor this weekend. It would be a nice scalp for our young guns and obviously put a spanner in the works of their tittle challenge. Just to keep it interesting, mind you, nothing more. I do have a feeling in my water, you know, the one where you are looking at Liverpools odds to beat them and thinking that its very possible? But i will let the Utd fans beat their drums on their page with their arrogance thinking its a walk over. I will wait for the game confident in our boys, quietly confident.

The Irish Rover

It won't be a walk over Rober, but the obsession with Webb on here is a bit sad. Talk about getting your excuses in early. And I've checked our site...can't see a lot of arrogance to be honest.

AJH

United fan here...

I expect a tough game TBH, they usually are. You guys seem to step it up against us usually and our defence is capable of being breached. A scraped victory by 1 goal would do me!

But talking about the 'arrogant' posts on the United page, you should see a post on there by 'Dillie' a Liverpool fan who believes that United will win 3-0 or 4-0 otherwise it's a bad result for us! I know, brilliant. Just thought I'd point it out in case you thought that was an 'arrogant' post by a United fan.

Good luck for Sunday (or not as the case may be). May the best team win

Gav

Stats prove that Webb is your puppet AJH and he will make at least one shockingly bad decision in your favour on Sunday.
Scouse_Pride

Everytime webb refs lfc v utd. liverpool always get the sh***y end of the stick. no doubt this will continue on sunday. No excuses just how it is. penalty and a red card.

I've got a gut feeling we might pull it off on Sunday.

Ozone

I even think the Howard Webb thing could work in our favour.

Ozone

Scouse-Pride: That kind of polemic rubbish is EXACTLY the reason Utd fans can´t stand us and vice versa. If you want to talk about stats, check the ones for this current season when Webb has officiated for us and surprise suprise - he has been fair and granted us more than he´s granted Utd. 2011 was a shocker but can we move on please? I for one stick by what I have said. He won´t want to relive the abuse he got in 2011. I think he´ll be fair on sunday. On a different note - we were the better team and should have won our last game vs Utd at home and no matter what they say, Utd fans know it. We may be 8th and we don´t stand a snowball´s chance in hell of beating their current position anytime soon but the banter between fans on here is down to the fact that Utd still fear us, respect us, know we are a tough team to play even though we are 8th. They can mock us all they like. The attention we get on here from Utd fans in itself is nothing but flattery Best fixture of the league. Full Stop.

I fear playing Liverpool more than Chelsea or to some extent, City.

Nothing more dangerous than a team with nothing else to play for in the season (genuinely don't mean that as a proper insult, you don't have any irons left in the fire this season - so the biggest possible success would be to trounce us at OT) who are capable of raising their game and soundly beating you.

RED_SKY

To the unamed poster. One season against a career made from bottling under Fergie's pressure has made Webb the most hated referee in my book. To be fair though Webb has grew himself a pair of b*llocks.

I am led to believe that Sahin is proberly going to leave for Dortmund, Rodgers would ideally like him to stay but it looks unlikely

Hopefully he goes, very average player!

Stop posting crap man, you have been posting the most obvious of stories in the papers, making it appear as if you actually know something, but no one is taking the bait.

Hi Eds & Reds,

Was reading an interesting article on La Liga and the potential value it represents for Premier League teams. Not really related to Liverpool but the author highlighted two players- Fede Vici & Jose Canas as "ones to watch".

Do you know of any Premier League interest in these two players?

cheers,

Rodgers said in a press conference in December that he wants to bring in a world class number 10 in the summer any suggestions?

Taarbat?
KPB?

Eriksen from ajax

Messi, maradonna, John Barnes.

Eriksen is the number 1 target.

08 Jan 2013 21:25:03
For me it would be one of:

Phillippe Coutinho
Isco
or Christian Eriksen

I think he is looking at some one in the mould of David Silva, Juan Mata, Santi Cazorla. Isco, Eriksen or Arda, who I believe is our best bet are all similar players.

The real AG

Erikson or ozil for me

08 Jan 2013 19:26:47
We should go in for Zaha even if hes going to cost 20 mil the lad is pure genius and would suit our style of play. Keep him off fergies hands

08 Jan 2013 21:01:20
We can't sign players just to stop other people signing them. We'd be bankrupt in no time.
We just have to concentrate on what we do.

Thats chelsea and man city talk right there, buy a player so your rivals can't have him

If hes a genious then ince is the next ronaldo

C'mon guys good player but again, would take some adjusting into the prem. My choice would be Erikson or Isco in the summer (as long as that stupendous 42m buyout clause isn't made)

Why is it that galatasary are in talks with sneijder and can pay his wages when we can't ! We are a far bigger club than them I just feel like we are sitting back too much ! I'm not saying waste money but he wouldn't be a waste at all ! Even Southampton are planning a £20m swoop apparently for to Italian players ! We can't afford to get left behind ! By the was 1-2 to the mighty reds this weekend against the frail mancs!! YNWA

Just been told that the Board are not impresssed with the bad publicity that " the hand of god" is causing.Ideally if a really good offer comes in for Suarez and a suitable replacement can be found quickly he will go...if only to stop the name of LFC being caused any further embarrassment.

That would be the dumbest thing they've done in awhile then. End of.

Sell Suarez for scoring? We can't say for certain it was deliberate handball, anyway. Even if it was, he was seeking to gain an unfair advantage, like diving, pulling someone's shirt, falsely claiming 'our ball, ref' etc etc.
It happens all the time and it isn't embarassing the club.
Get over it.
Rigsby.

What a stupid personic post

RD

Yes, of course you have. Jesus....

Thanks for sharing that info with us sir Alex, now can you naff off back to your own page....

Sooty

Hahah funniest thing ive ever read

FSG are not that stupid to sell Suarez could you imagine the reaction

So you don't sell him when he is found guilty by the F.A of racism but will sell him for handling the ball? Keep the priorities right FSG

Perth!

We are going to sell a striker for doing his job, has Phil Thompson been re-appointed?

08 Jan 2013 15:19:57
Hi Eds. Could anyone explain what the FSG plan is? I thought the idea was young gifted players being bought in and a strong side which competes to win.

I see Brendan says the squad is small. So far its one in one out - Cole & Sturridge.

Am more than happy with that. But we do need cover at LB and CB. My post/question is are FSG serious? I appreciate the £12mil spent on Sturridge, but surely that has been covered by the lack of spending in the Summer and Coles wages off the books. There are some good players we've been linked with Ince, Mirin and Astori all young, all inexpensive yet we are always offering £1-2 mil below and are not signing any. LFC seem quite happy to sell for below value and expect everyone to cave in like we seem to. If FSG want LFC in the Champions League and as it stands it is possible, only 9 points off. Why are they not spending? They seem to think it can all happen for nothing whilst watching Spurs/Chelski/Mancs spend up. Are FSG serious and where is the money, cause there must be a chunk from Summer, plus what you'd expect a team competing in europe and top 4 to get in Jan ? {Ed002's Note - There was no lack of spending in the summer. There is no "chunk" of money.}

FSG won't plunder a boot full of money again.
The summer will be BR`s final sale of players he doesnt want.
So players that go will be replaced, may not be like for like position wise, and you can say there will be added funding once all is done.

ED`s have repeatadly stated, FSG have supported the manager at transfer times and spending we just aint seing the marquee figures because thats not what LFC is about and never has been.
Piddy

WHY! Are you So obsessed with Spending large amounts of money!!

08 Jan 2013 17:01:36
I think Sturridge worked hard the other day, i know it was only against mansfield, but he seemed to have real desire and hunger to do well and his clear passion when he scored his goal was good to see. He even put off the silly dance until Shelvey joined in lol

Its this attitude that we need more of, Suarez has it in shed loads. A clear desire to win.

08 Jan 2013 17:00:12
To those of us posting that Liverpool will make no more signings this window.

Am i alone in thinking we don't really need anyone else? The squad having time to gel will be more benficial than any one player coming in and looking around the side we have more than enough first team and young talent at the club. No glaring weaknesses to me.

08 Jan 2013 18:22:31
Galatasaray say they have opened negotiations with Inter Milan over the transfer of unsettled midfielder Wesley Sneijder. We will bring you more on this story shortly...

Cant wait of anothet great player not coming to us but i forget fsg are great owners thats for the chelski mug ed {Ed002's Note - I imagine they will simply give up on the ignorant retromingent glifnards like you that they have for so called "fans". It is people like you that will turn the club in to a joke. Liverpool has spent more than any other EPL club so far this window - the past spending is astronomical compared to most clubs. Funny how no premier league team wants him either.
Both Mancs could get him.
Chelsea could get him.
So we must all be in the same boat.

Some proper donkeys on this site fair play......

Hardly any other teams have gone in for him, does that mean that all teams bar-Galatasaray can't compete? Strange logic

Sturridge has stated he is at the biggest club in England, what a guy, pity he made a mistake cos the red Mancs are

Anyone here that can tell me the situation with Teixeira's injury? I remember there being a lot of hype around him (as is usual with every player in our academy tbh) yet he was done by a back injury? Anyone watched him play enough yet?

On the topic of our academy I think Ibe would be next to be blooded in, would be brilliant if we had that Suarez-Sturridge-Sterling/Ibe/Ince(if he does sign) as that is a front 3 of pace, power and trickery.

Hoping for a good result on the weekend and these next 3 games will certainly test the players mental strength and capacity.

mozzilfc

It will be difficult to get a good result once Suarez is sent off .............

Don't despair fellow reds we got to two cup finals last year and won one! We finished 8th.

If we get to the FA Cup final this year (anything can happen in a final) and finish above 8th then that's an improvement.

Think it could be worse we could be Arsenal - 7 years without a trophy!

Nath

C'mon now while they haven't won a trophy and transfer dealings are suspect, they consistently make top 4 and are a good, "well run" side. I think they deserve a little more respect tbf mate.

I know its only 1 game in against a conference team but im happy to admit I was critical of Sturridge before he joined, I didn't believe he had the desire or attitude to play for Liverpool. However everything ive seen so far of him has been positive and im actually finding myself looking forward to seeing him in the red shirt again!

The only concern I still have is the potential effect on Suarez who is in such good form, id hate to think we would jeopardise that form by playing Sturridge through the middle with Suarez as an inside forward.

Thoughts are welcome!

YNWA JFT96 jns

Personally, I don't think Suarez gives a monkeys where he plays, as long as he can get at them!

I also think that Sturridge will be a good signing. Just a bit concerned about his injury record, but as long as he stays fit, I think he will do well. Had to chuckle a bit re his quote of 'now playing for the biggest team in the Premiership'. At least he knows how to get us all on side!

08 Jan 2013 14:37:43
Alright at the risk of sounding whiner here, I can't believe that Webb is ever allowed to red LFC vs mancs! I would really love to see the ratio of reds he's called for and against us, same with pks, then compare that to any other ref in that fixture. If someone has those stats I'd love to seem even just to put my mind at ease. Maybe I'm off-base here but for me he's been horrid in one direction every time in this fixture.

That said, I am excited for this weekend. Hope we actually play Sturridge Suarez up top because I have a sneaking suspicion that Sturridge will be benched due to not being match fit.

Would you really though?? im guessing you won't get any because it won't stand up lad

So in other words you've formed your opinion before even seeing the evidence? It's old wives tales my son. Still makes for a good excuse when things go wrong. BTW, who gave Liverpool their only penalty of the season so far?

i don't get why everyone keeps moaning about the owners. its there club and they will do what they want. fans don't get a say anymore. its happens at most clubs now. chelsea fans don't seem to understand this and lfc fans don't want to except it. when you sell your clubs out this is what happens. with selling lfc the owners are finding out the hard way. they are putting in alot more money than they first thought. so there is not going to be alot of money for tranfers. you can forget us getting any big players for along time. its just is not going to happen. there wages are more than the club want to pay out. face facts people the good days are gone. we are going to have to do it the hard way. with low cost players.

Ed001 you are probably best to answer this but why does joa Carlos texxeria rarely play. Every time I've seen him he has blown me away!
Thanks. {Ed001's Note - he will soon, he is still fitting in to life in the UK, improving his language etc. I expect him to get his chances next season, he certainly has the quality, it is just we have so many inexperienced youngsters in already. If we had not needed the likes of Suso and Sterling all season, I would have expected him to get a similar role to them. He was just unlucky we are so short up front.}

Who do you see as a good replacement for reina? I know this is reli unlikely but if man you want rid of de gea i would be happy for us to pick him up

That has to be the worst, most frightening suggestion I have ever read on his site !!
CovoKenya

Oh Right

Irish Red

Oh be quiet. it's all nonsense...even if it were true...think about it like this, If reina is seen as a suitable replacement for de gea, because in Fergie's eyes De Gea's not good enough, why would we sell em reina and take de gea.

i doubt this response will even make the page (i have made several posts/replies and they never seem to appear)

Noose

Pick up de gea he is shocking another bartez and they slag us of for the money we spent on Carroll.

Reusch

No thanks to De Gea (although I actually think he may come good over time). I'd take Begaovic in a heart beat, or even maybe Krul or Vorm. Ter Stegen, Zieler, or Leno are also good shouts. Point is there are plenty of good goal keepers out there and all likely on considerably less wages than Reina.

08 Jan 2013 18:02:00
De Gea's too young and the move to United was too big and too early for him. That's why they're selling.

They won't sell to us and even if they did he won't do well here, at least not at this stage of his career. Best thing that can happen to him is that he goes somewhere where he's less in the spotlight to hone is trade until he's at least 24.

I know certain players have close ties with certain managers etc, but it will be interesting to have a poll of the current squad (especially the ones that have played under more than one manager at Liverpool) to see what the preferences are with regards to:

Training
Match Preparation
Tactics
Freedom to play
Freedom to express
Confidence
Style of play
Man management

It would be nice to hear the reasons behind each choice as well.

I know it's unlikely to ever happen and it would be difficult for anyone to say that preferred a certain area under Rafa or KK (especially when BR is their current manager)

Liverpool vs. Man U, January 2011

Liverpool
Reina
Agger
Aurelio
Kelly
Skrtel
Raul Meireles (Shelvey 60)
Gerrard
Maxi (Babel 60)
Lucas
Torres (Ngog 77)
Kuyt

Substitutes
Gulacsi, Kyrgiakos, Wilson, Poulsen, 33 Shelvey, Babel, Ngog

Liverpool versus Sunderland, Jan 2 2013
Reina
Johnson
Agger
Skrtel (Carragher 73)
Wisdom
Gerrard
Henderson (Suso 67)
Downing
Lucas
Sterling (Allen 57)
Suarez

Substitutes
Jones, Carragher, Robinson, Sahin, Allen, Shelvey, Suso

You can argue about which starting lineup is better, however the clear indication of progress I think is highlighted by who is on the bench now, compared to in 2011...

Phil :-p

Add Strurridge into the mix and things look a bit better.

The sub team of 2011 had 2 forward thinking players in Ngog and Babel. We still lack firepower up front. Sturridge will help but we need more.

The Irish Rover

One very young team, one coming down from their peaks at 28, as much as i loved Kuyt and Maxi they were never the future

Prefer the 2013 line up although Kuyt, Maxi, Babel, Meirelles and Ngog offered more goal threat than some of our current players but maybe not as good in other aspects.

Really?? I thought 1st team was better

Id love to this this Fifa World(La Liga) XI play against a Premier League XI in a charity match.....winner takes all the Kudos

Who would be in the line up?

If winner takes all what does the charity get?

--------------Casillas---------------
Alves---Ramos-------Pique--Marcello
---------------Alonso--------------
--------Xavi----------Iniesta-------
---Messi------------------Ronaldo--
---------------Falcao--------------

--------------V. Persie-------------
----Bale------------------Suarez---
------Lampard--------Gerrard-------
---------------Toure---------------
Bains----Agger-------Luis---Johnson
--------------Begovic--------------

The Premier League team even if it was 15 vs 11 would be murdered against that La Liga team.
RVP, Suarez, Mata and Bale MIGHT make the La Liga substitutes bench.

Lampard? Are you serious?

Hi fellow Reds, Liverpool r lookin for jus one wide player. And if Coates leave on loan may be v wil sign a defender, expect nothin else. Seeing the situation i don c Thomas Ince signin for us in january, but possible in the summer anyway lets hope for the best. And if v qualify for champions league at the end of this season, v can sign better world class players. Walcott is 50-50 option for us, cos he is another player who can play different roles upfront which is exactly what Rodgers requires, lets hope for the best. And one more thing, before Sturridge signed many guys criticised him, now i wanna c those faces and ....... He played so wel though he isnt fully fit. He surely wil be a massive success i hope so. IMO Sturridge and Walcott(but he is expected to sign a new deal wit Arsenal) wil be enuf this january to pull us up the table.

Hi eds,

Just a couple of quick questions do you think Ian Ayre will remain at the club for a few more years or are the owners looking to replace him because i think we could do with a change in that role. Also do you think we could still see a DOF arrive in the future or are the owners happy to let Rodgers continue as he has been. Im happy with Rodgers but i do think he could use some more help.

Many thanks

Red raj {Ed001's Note - Ayre is highly unlikely to leave and there will be no DOF while Rodgers is in charge.}

folks NESN are reporting that Spurs have agreed terms with Sneijder about a potential move, theyre waiting for an agreement with Inter 12 mill is the reported fee

I believe that is illegal

I always thought I would get to read rumours here but years after years its becoming full of questions to editors.

My question to our famous editor. Can we attract or buy a better striker than Suarez?

As BR said enjoy watching him. Howard webb will be next week ref. Expect a red card for suarez and a win for MANU.
Arvin

Expect a penalty for utd as well

ed...great site and good work..
Whats the real situation with leonadwaski?
is Man utd getting him under 20 mill?
if so..can we hang ourself?
12 mill for sturridge? with 60k week..
16 mill for leanodwaski with 80k week?

thats ridiculous..UTD get what they want..

YNWA {Ed001's Note - who cares? He might not adjust to the Prem, why whinge about something that might not happen?}

I agree its stupid difference is though utd don't have to sell themselves to players its there for all to see they r in a position that we were once in like it or hate it its the way it is

Hello Eds,
I heard that Liverpool are looking to offload Sahin? Why? He didn't even get the chance to feature vs Mansfield despite being on the bench in the previous game. Personally, I don't think he's been given enough chances to prove himself and I hope it is not true. Do you know anything about this?
Also, if he were to leave, do we have a midfielder lined up to replace him? Given the amount of games we have, and the fact that we use 3 CMs, it will be a big mistake to let him go imo as apart from Gerrard, I don't think our other midfielders could offer as much quality. Thanks
Dani {Ed001's Note - I don't expect Sahin to leave in January.}

Morning reds reading the local rag in DUBLIN and there even slating our perfect no7 luis suarez is it me or are they tryin to drive him out of the premier league quote from the star news paper kiss his wrist after the goal not a clever thing to do well true lfc fans no he does that all the time oh n jon chumpionu spanner you shud be sacked LUIS SUAREZ YNWA JON96

Its not just LFC fans that know he does that. He's scored 18 goals this season and has done the same after every goal so anyone (esp. footy journos) should know that.
I hope he thrives on it and does the same celebration a few times on Sunday.

I don't recall drogba getting this treatment.

It makes me laugh! Anything he does is straight under the microscope. Can you imagine what would have happened if he did what Fellaini did? He would have got arrested and probably brought back the death penalty

There wasn't an uproar when crouchy did it again man city this season, nor when terry jumped about like he'd scored when the ball was clearly a yard before the line. ignore them
derryred

It's not like he did a swan dive in front of their manager

Also Garth bale has been booked 5 times for diving in all competitions this year! 5times! And you don't here anyone talking about it

Hi ed's. Does anyone have any knowledge on the following?

When we sold Tom Ince to Blackpool.....who will have sanctioned that? Would Kenny have been involved or was it more likely Comolli? It must bug the owners that a player we let go for next to nothing is now potentially costing us 4-5 million and were Ian Ayre involved in the original deal surely he must be eating some humble pie right now? It was obvious at the time a loan deal was the better option, to sell the lad was crazy in my opinion as anyone who saw him play for the reserves must have realised his potential? I'm just struggling to get my head round who will have sanctioned the deal?
Jenko {Ed001's Note - we didn't sell him, he refused to sign a new contract. The only crazy thing is to buy him back. He is simply not as good as the kids we have coming through. Ibe is better now, let alone in a couple of year's time.}

Thats right, our scouts are awful! For £5-7 million we could go across to france, holland or spain and pick up a much better player. Do we have any scouts? I could do a better job then these clowns! RedTurk {Ed001's Note - give it a rest, the scouts only recommend players, not choose which ones we bid for! You really just exist to whinge about nothing like a little brat.}

So if that were the case why is he interested in coming back?
Jenko {Ed001's Note - he left to get first team footie, all he wants is that.}

I agree Ed. We have much better prospects coming through and we don't want lesser talents blocking their path.
I would tell Blackpool to do one, who do they think they are?
Another striker on loan such as Gamerio
and Erikson in the summer {Ed001's Note - why are you having a dig at Blackpool? They are doing nothing wrong, just asking for a fair price for them.}

I think we didn't sell him and we only received compensation due to him wanting to leave for regular football.

He refused to sign the contract we offered him. At the time I think his advisers (his Dad) was suggesting he deserved to be in the first team and get first team wages.

He effectively left on a 'Bosman' although that is not allowed for young players.

I think we only got some cash because of the rules about young players leaving at the end of their contracts, which is why I'm dubious about the whole 'Sell On Clause' stories. Unless the tribunal set rules includes that for young players at the end of their contract?

You'd buy him back for 4 mil though. I wouldn't spend more but for 4 million he is 3 years older than Sterling. His peak will come before Sterlings and then we can sell him on when possible for a lot more.

BthekingB

We don't need anorther promising youngster right now. We need someone of Suarez caliber.

Ed i'm afraid everything is someone's fault or someons wrongdoing to these people. You give them a cake they cry about the plate.
derryred

To ed001 - the thing about Ince is he scores goals. Do you think Ibe would be scoring regularly playing in the Championship? I doubt it. I'm a big fan of our youngsters but Ince has a goalscoring instinct that most of them lack.

Red Ollie {Ed001's Note - in the Championship? If Ibe gets the run of games Ince has, he will score as many, at least. Ince is nothing special, he was struggling to keep his place in the stiffs for a reason.}

Is this Jamie (the galss is always half empty) Kanwar a LFC fan. His blog is the most depressing crock of BallOx I have ever read. Reality Red

I have no idea why he says he supports Liverpool as WOW it is never positive and always having a go about something, He seems to think he belongs atop a high horse when really I don't think one person takes him serious!

The blokes a tool he never has anything good to say about the club

08 Jan 2013 18:28:29
Oh GOD Kanwar. Is he still going?

Unless I'm confusing him with someone else, he defended Hicks and Gillet as late as summer 2010. I assumed from the ridiculousness of his blog, and his "selective" use of facts, that he was a troll.

But if he's still at it, then maybe he is an actual Liverpool fan who just takes a contrary position because he feels it makes him some sort of visionary apart from the crowd.

- Something Red -

Can't remember the details as such but he made a bet with someone where he agreed to pay a large amount of money towards a charity on behalf of the 96. He lost and reneged on the bet claiming he made no such bet. Thing was, the bet was originally documented. Says it all right there really.

Hello Eds, how come in November Tom Werner told us all that Liverpool fans would be very happy with what business we do in January this month, me personally is happy with the Sturidge deal but am not happy about much more, the way Werner was going on about it sounded like we would have 3-4 players in, we have Nuri Sahin there who is most probably getting paid 70-80k a week and we never play the fella, hes been back now for about 3 weeks after his injury, its just a waste of money. {Ed001's Note - Sahin got injured again, so what on earth is the point of your post other than to whine about nothing???}

I would guess his point is that Liverpools chairman shouldn't come out in the media and promise a good january and then not back it up with relevant finacial backing. However how can we judge this with 20 something days left in the window?

The Sahin part doesnt add anything to his post though - Kind of a seperate issue

What worries me is that seem to be operating a one out, one in policy which strengthens our squad but doesn't add much needed depth. I would like to see Werner & LFC say nothing/ give no indication to spend (good January) and add 2-3 players that can take us from mid table into the top four. Quailty players not potential stars.

K-Man

Is it 31st already? Even if we don't sign anyone else, we have strengthened the 1 position we were in need to. Yes, I would love another couple of players to come in, but to say you're dissapointed 8 days into the transfer window is ridiculous. If you have to spout the negative comments, at least wait until the window closes as if we sign another 4 players over the next 23 days, which is the timescale available to us, you will look a bit of a tool now.

WelshScouse
YNWA
JFT96

Buying a goal scorer and paying Joe Cole to leave to free up squad space and wages isn't a good window? Spending(at the moment) more than any other club isn't good ? Some people just don't get it. Did you expect a loss making club sitting mid table with three seasons outside top 5 never mind outside CL to spend 100m on Cavani, Damiao and Eriksen. Some persons on here.

Here we go again Sly sports leading with Suarez regarding the goal he scored. Now the md of Mansfield is slagging him of why couldn't he be like his manager and be dignified about it.Yes it did HIT his hand/arm it wasn't a Henry moment.

Reusch.

Obviously as empty headed as she looks. Nice one, advancing the cause of women in football like that.
ND

Pity a website didn't give Roy Carroll the same public exposure when the ball was clearly a meter over the line and I am sure there are many other incidents including goals scored with ones hand, Peter Crouch springs to mind but again no exposure, for me Suarez will eventually be hounded out of the prem.

You can tell it wasn't deliberate, his arm went back and above his shoulder, if it was deliberate the movement would have been different, he'd have been braced for it.

The comments by the chairman of Mansfield are just stupid. He said that Suarez deliberately handled the ball, and the proof is that he kissed his wrist, the same one that he used to handle the ball. Anyone who watches Suarez knows that after every goal he kisses that same wrist, he probably has a tattoo of his kids names or something there. His muted celebration was proof that he was as surprised as anyone that the goal counted.

Lee

I do agree that Suarez is not at fault for goal, just bad luck for him that it has stirred everything up again. However I do think it would have been better if he had just turned and walked away without the celebration. He knew it was a dubious call, celebrating it to the extent that he did made it look like he had got away with cheating (which again I don't believe he did).

Because the manager's clearly a sensible, fair-minded guy, journos weren't happy so went to the 'keeper for a quote - he was just as fair, so they go to the rest of the squad and the chairman to get as many quotes as they can calling it unfair and cheating. Lowlife journo persons looking to spin out a story.

Red Ollie

Even the most one-eyed fan can surely see Suarez hand balling the winner in a Cup tie against a Conference side when it denied the aforesaid minnows a replay is a story. Get over it - Suarez will. Strongest mentality of any LFC player since Souey.

Ed with the rumours that Pepe is off in summer, do you think a move for Shay Given could be a decent one? I know his age will go against him but he is still a decent keeper, and if we also sign Butland, he could be really good for him IMO. {Ed001's Note - he is not good enough for a team struggling against relegation, what on earth gives you the insane idea he would be good enough for us? He was a good shot stopper, but useless defensive organiser, he is no longer even that good a shot stopper.}

08 Jan 2013 13:37:55
Shay Given also struggles badly with the ball at his feet from what I have seen. That woudl not suit our style of play.

Thomas

08 Jan 2013 18:33:43
Ed, I'm perplexed as to why Given's on Villas' bench, tbf, having watched him play since the 90s. He's been a quality keeper for a long time, imo and furthermore, Guzan doesn't look like a confidence inspiring figure. From what I've seen of the two, Given is no contest the better keeper at Villa.

I can only assume he's either lost it badly or still isn't completely over the injury he got before Euro 2012.

Looks like we'll be playing against 12 men on Sunday...Howard's in charge of the game.

Oh well...

Doha Red

I've got him down as first goal scorer!

There has been too much controversy regarding his decisions, I agree. However, he has been pretty fair with us this season. I don´t think we should encounter too much hassle on sunday because he won´t want to draw negative attention to himself. We aren´t a worry for Utd this season, unfortunately and I think he remembers the abuse he got in 2011. Also if and just IF RVP has a shocker they might just be in trouble. Suarez has reacted brilliantly to the abuse he´s been getting. it gears him up. The more they chant against him the better he is, lets hope that is the case on sunday.

Odds have become even more favourable anall for man you to win after howard webb was announced to be officiating the game.

Guarenteed he will have the most assists

Get a bet on manc to get a penalty and Liverpool to have a player sent off. You'll be quids in

The Daily Mail reports Arsenal have been offered Napoli striker Eduardo Vargas on loan. The 23-year-old Chile international is thought to be surplus to requirements after failing to pull up trees since moving from Universidad de Chile for a fee of £11.5million just a year ago.

--------

If they are trying to loan him out then he is defiantly a better option the Jeffren, if we are still looking at bringing someone in on loan.

The 2nd & 3rd word was enough for me to dismiss it. no mention of the mancs beating lfc to his signature ? thats unusual

Lol. defiantly

Hello eds a magnificent site it is my first time that i post here i want to ask if we sign one on loan probably gameiro and ince which is a winger. Can we say that the reshaping of our offense has finish or do you expect at the summer to sign a forward (take the place of gameiro)and another winger?
another question for the 4-3-3 formation does we necessarily need two CDM and do you expect that we sign a CDM in summer?
Thank you very much for your work
Cheers
and please can you post it. {Ed002's Note - I think the summer is a long way off still so it would be tough to say right now what will ahppen - and it will be influenced by anyone leaving as well.}

We are gunna stomp united this weekend are confidence is high plus we'll have sturridge trying his hardest... United have bin Leeking goals I see an old trafford win!

I too see UTD leaking goals...so do as we..the difference.. they atleast socre 2 more than what they concede...
sunday will determine..whose the best...
RVP or Suarez...

Last I knew there were 11 players on each side, One game isnt going to decide who is better between the two RVP or Suarez as RVP could get great support on the day and score where as Suarez could not or visa versa. Both players are completely different as well! bit of a silly statement really. I always get butterflys when we play United as I would love to stuff them but they are on a good run and its old trafford. I am hoping for a good performance more then anything else!

Hi Eds, great work with the website. Just wanted to know how highly you rate Kevin Gameiro and if someone can make a player profile?

Thanks {Ed002's Note - That would be a question for the profiles site.}

08 Jan 2013 01:50:48
im happy we signed sturridge but just struggle to c what will happen as br tends to be intent on playing 4-3-3 i just hope now we have someone to play up with suarez that he plays 4-4-2 with lucas gerrard stirling downing midfield and agger skrtel wisdom johnson at back really do think we will give mancs a real good go otherwise seems that we signed a striker for 12 mill to play wide doesnt and won't work with his pace suarez magic stevie g pushing on safe in knowledge of lucas holding think it will work just have that feeling we will turn them over and that will be a big 3 points for us to kick on from i going 3-1 to us the mancs really rnt the team they or others think they r

I believe Rodgers will go with a 3-5-2 formation at Old Trafford.

Reina, Skrtel, Carra & Agger at the back, Johnson & Downing wing backs, Lucas, (Hendo orAllen) & Gerrard in midfield with Suarez and Sturridge up top

K-Man

First of all there are no wingbacks in 352 formation and i can't see Rodgers playing 442 I think that Suarez Will be played as a cf playing just behind sturridge in st, Suarez prefers cf anyway, at Ajax he never played st he also played on the wings there... cheers. D.M.H

What do you mean there are no wingbacks in 3-5-2? That is exactly what the wide guys are as they play as wingers and backs.

Sunday against ManU should show how far we've come.
BR has always maintained we will compete with teams though the 'way' we play so let's hope it works out.
These next league matches could be the making of our season. Beat ManU and I will take my hat off to you BR.
Contrary to popular belief Liverpool are not that far off from a Top4 position, two more wins in a row and we will be within touching distance. There is no team we should fear in the league, no team!
So here's hoping BR uses his whole squad (Assaidi, Yesil etc)
YNWA
Iranred in London

Is it me or something else but I can't get my head round people saying when we play man utd it shows how for we have progressed ( I know they are the yard stick) but beating any team well preforming well week in week out would be a better insight to how far we have come and or need to go, not a negative post just seem to think we can take any team apart at anytime to prove we are on the right track.

Leeb7red.

More like how far we have fallen further behind! Expect RVP to demonstrate what a world class player is.

LAMBS TO THE......

If we get 5 or 6 points out of Man you Man City & Arsenal we will have three of the big games out of the way and a very good chance of moving up the table

K-Man

RVP world class ? If so what does that make King Luis ? Cosmic class ? Universe class ?

I think you will find most teams would rather RVP than Suarez.

Not a huge fan of Sturridge's goal celebration dance, in fact, I absolutely hate it.

One things for certain though, if he scores at Old trafford this Sunday, ill be the f***ing first one up doin it on the bar

Kelly Red

F**king funniest post for a while...I think you'll have a fight to get on the bar mate.....I can see a result with both defences a bit dodge, there's probably a bit more..2-1 to us or a score draw will do nicely...

I wouldnt mind seeing it in every remaining match this season

Think positive... his victory dance is miles better than the Robbie Keane celebration we had to see at Anfield (albeit very occasionally)

I wouldnt mind seeing the whole group of travelling Liverpool fans doing it if Sturridge scores...

all we need in our squad is walcott, we don't need no-one else.

So you think you can get through a whole season with just one player in our squad? What about a goal keeper?

08 Jan 2013 09:55:03
Walcott or Usain Bolt.

08 Jan 2013 00:40:15
I really don't know why thers not major interest in Dries Mertens from Lfc or anyone else really. (From what we read)
For what Lfc need I think he would be perfect, A wide players who can score. Would be great in the front 3.

He is very pacey and skillfull with a great goal record for a winger and is 25 so not really reached peak.

Anyway just say we never signed Sturridge, my ideal signings I wouldve liked are Bony & Mertens!

However with Sturridge now and if we sign Mertens a 'Interchangeable' and 'Adaptable' front 3 of Mertens, Suarez and Sturridge would give any defence problems and on paper look defo like a top4 team attack.

Plus maybe in the summer with the exit of Sahin I would like to a CM come in. A box to box type, Hendo has been doing it well, linking play and making runs, he is improving however I feel we need someone with that little more quality and game changing abilty.
Diame? Wanayma? Benat? What you think.

Well that's my opinions.
Comments?

F5 Bengali Brummy

I totaly agree with martens he's a fantastick player I'm confused as to why we havnt shown interest... I would love him in our team!

Agree on Mertens, but if I'm not wrong he's out due to a groin injury. Whilst all the hype is surrounding Walcott right now, hopefully it'll draw away some attention on Mertens. And if you believe what the papers are saying, Strootman is that box-to-box player you're looking for.

He was my first choice when I started posting on the transfer...
Excellent player...or arda turan..both looks beast..
Y are we reluctant on Honda which is out my question..
he is up there with the best Midfielder...forget snidjer..and sign honda...
