Hi eds, Rumour round my parts theres interest in puncheon? You got any more info {Ed002's Note - Did he play well today?}

Don't want to know about your parts thanks.

The last thing that I would want around my parts is somebody puncheon (punchin'!).

Hi Eds, have Liverpool ever had any interest in Stephane Sessegnon from Sunderland? He is a good player and may want to leave Sunderland due to their poor form. I would like to hear your views on this. {Ed002's Note - Have many players said they want to leave Liverpool because of their poor form?}

09 Dec 2012 05:24:46
Ed002, you are class.

08 Dec 2012 23:28:24
Do you all realise that it is now 9th December and no-one has yet mentioned a marquee signing! Haven't Liverpool been canvassing other clubs with the intent of signing somebody?
DM2012

09 Dec 2012 02:18:28
We can't quite afford a marquee signing, perhaps a small 2 man tent signing instead?

Jolly Red

Liverpool have signed a marquee, its set up on Anfield Road on matchdays.

Am I the only fan who doesn't need a "Marquee" signing? We all whinge about wasted fees (Carroll, Downing etc) and then beg our club to go out and do it again. In the long run I want us to sign the very best in the world, but right now I just want shrewed operating, give us a Michu or a Ba, someone that comes in for less than 10M but fits our system and the PL.

Not are you not the only fan who doesn't need a 'marquee' signing' you are also not the only fan who doesn't leave a name! By the way, it was a JOKE hence canvas and tent. Sorry if it went over your head (just like a bivouac I suppose!)

Football Justice: Snodgrass scoring that free kick after that Ashley Williams foul, which imo he should have been sent off for!

And no, this isn't personal.....he was the last man and he committed a foul!

And I'm glad that person who racially abused Bassong got arrested! There's no excuse for such disgusting behaviour!

just to quell all yer fears about 2morros game.
we will pass round west ham like nobodies business we will score at least 2 and i cant see us conceeding. so come on guys get behind the team we are moving in the right direction. keep the faith we are liverpool after all we love a challenge and we got it now so onwards and upwards i say.
livlim

Its a shame carrol not playing for them our defence would have an easier game

Our defence will be rarely touched 2morro

Why are so many of these nameless fans so thick - even if he had been fit carroll could not have played against his own club!!!
dm2012

Why do so many fans also say the same thing every game....we win dominate, thrash and the other team wont test out defence?

I love this club but i almost guarantee they will test out defence several times. They have some great players and have K NOlan who is class imo.

I think we will win but there are no easy games and this is the team that beat a top class team just a week ago dont forget!

gareth

We win so few games

Anything less than 3 points tomorrow and we can write off finishing higher than 10th this season, mark my words.

Anyone who thinks that this club is going in the right direction is deluded.

We've had a difficult start yes. But given out hard fixture list, our lack of firepower (soon to be addressed), our complete overhaul in the style of football we're trying to produce and that lack of luck it's fairly understandable.

Yes we've got a lot of work to do, but we're going in the right direction.

Papa G

Why should we "mark your words"? Your negative attitude is one that we all not share.

Your are exactly the kind of people that are the problem. And the way you dismiss anyone with a positive attitude in your final sentence is pathetic. In short, your a a-whole.

The real AG

This is a big opportunity without a doubt and a win would see us in the top half for the first time this year and potentially 4 points off fifth but it is too early to be season defining.

I guess I'm deluded. Leem

Nobody cares about you...the true fans will still support liverpool loose or win

Mark your words, okay.
Now that I have marked the words of another anomynous poster, what are everybody's predictions for tomorrow?
#19

Mark WHO'S words? Yet another anonymous critic. Easy to slate the team and hide behind your anonymity when you get proved wrong. If you're having trouble thinking of a name, how about 'Tiny Pair'?

cozinoz

"Anything less than 3 points tomorrow and we can write off finishing higher than 10th this season, mark my words."

Ok, I marked them, then I copied them, then I pasted them, just to highlight what a daft prediction this is.

On the basis of 1 match before we're even half way through the season and before the January transfer window, you're prepared to write off 10th place?
It's akin to saying "win tomorrow and we'll win the league, mark my words".

Sorry but it's rank stupidity.

M. Aurelius

I'll be happy this year to just see us get better and better and get the odd great signing on the way so that next year we can test the top waters.

I personally think top 4 was always going to be a huge task but who knows!

Gareth

You 'do gooders' get right up my nose. Let's face it, the jury's well and truly out on Rodgers and FSG. Why is the initial poster not a so called 'real fan'. The initial posters expressed an opinion. If he pays his money at the turnstile and gets behind the team but doesn't appreciate what he sees, why is he not a true fan? As things stand you could argue that Laudrups gone to Swansea and improved things, they now have a final product as opposed to pass, pass, pass, pass boring pass with nothing to show for it. Swansea for me are now a more rounded team with options. We are one dimensional, fizzy wine players trying to play champagne football with owners using the club as a hedge fund. How's that going in the right direction.

Ozone

Of course we are going in the right direction,have you forgotten the past already with those 2 useless yonks who nearly bankrupt the club and the millions dagleish wasted on rubbish players

Swansea just lost to Norwich, they are not as good as people think they are, neither is michu, he is at the right club at the right time.

To the above poster on michu. Did you know he was a real top player in a la liga.

08 Dec 2012 20:39:51
How do you think the window will end?
And do you EDS believe a certain player 100% will come? {Ed002's Note - I suspect the window will be closed in the end.}

I am with th Ed on this one, had to think about it though

08 Dec 2012 21:22:00
Our number one transfare target in january should be Huntelaar who better to partner Suarez up frount.
Look what they did at Ajax together 82 goals in 60 games could get him for half the price of Sturridge and a proven goal scorer what chance of him coming to us.

Exactly mate i have bragged about it for a long time we wont get to sign the perfect player for suarez or class of huntelaar for such a small price tag 10m would be a bargain. A proven deadly partnership a proved deadly goalscorer give him the wages he wants cmon we cant miss this chance, sadly reality checks have to be made, we have small money we need more than one player hes on high wages and hes 29 doesent really fit into fsg policy

No way huntelaar is coming to liverpool...not good enough..scored for like crazy for ajax,fails at madrid and milan..then goes to shalke and starts scoring again...not big league material he can score over 200 goals nobody cares..if he was that good then he wont be in germany right now

Sorry but Dutch teams can't defend for toffee and most of their keepers are junk.Ajax are/were one of the 3 had decent teams. It's like the SPL over there and just because you can score for Celtic against Inverness Cally Thistle, doesn't mean you'll score for Liverpool against Man City.

How many strikers come from Holland with ridiculously good records but fail to replicate it over here.

Dirk Kuyt scored about 70 goals in 100 games in Holland.
You have to look at the attributes of the player and decide if they're suited to the Premier league.
Huntelaar has not got the pace to succeed in this country.

M. Aurelius

The german league is way more competitive than the spanish or italian leagues and with better teams. I beleive all 7 german sides have progressed to the knockout stages of the champions or europa league

Amidst the constant negativity and disappointment with the first team, the under 21's and 18's are excelling beyond all hope. What Rafa first started when he developed our academy was good promise. But what has followed, strongly aided by Rodolfo and Pep is a truly wonderful academy, excelling at all levels. They've built a strong base, for players of varying ages to develop naturally and without great pressure, which is a rare thing nowadays.

What really pleased me is that despite the turmoil in ownership, with managers coming and going etc the work in the academy never stopped and it shows now. The talent was signed by various people, but has been nurtured in the academy by a very skilled team and we're reaping those rewards.

Sterling and Suso are the standout players. Both have skill, flair and talent beyond their years are the most obvious breakthroughs; but there are plenty of others to consider. Kelly being the first, who before his injury had cemented a place in the first team and looked like he was fulfilling his great promise. Robinson and Wisdom are also pushing and I'd expect both to become regular members of the 1st team squad/11 in a year or sooner.

Others who we all hope/expect to break through are Ibe, Sinclair, Sama, Texeira and possibly Adorjan. There may well be others and some of those mentioned may not fulfil their early promise, however I feel confident under BR and the academy staff they'll be given every opportunity to be a success, whether at our club or another.

The best aspect of developing talent, is that in the long term you're naturally making the club self sustainable. You're spending less of transfers, agent fee's and wages. You're hopefully getting players who don't sit on their massive wages and stew. Players who live to play and have the desire to stand out from the rest, which is vital at that age.

Youth has its issues, with inexperience being the major factor. But if you have a settled team, gradual but steady introduction of youth players is very much possible. Players like Ibe can look at Sterling and think that could be me in 12 months, which is what we want to instil. A level of confidence and reassurance, that we play talent and also develop he best talent in the country.

Young players (often with parents/family as agents) will see LFC as a club that put trust in youth and they have a manager that will give opportunities, to those who warrant it. That in the years going forward will have a big bearing on the team. We'll not only try to bring lots of players through, but also try and sign some of the strongest talent around.

I know a lot have their doubts over BR, but can you honestly not see that he's extremely good for building a long term future. He's a young manager, still learning, still developing. But he's a man that's got a vision, one that gets us playing the football our academy coaches use. We're building to be Barcelona, albeit not on that unbelievable level.

It'll all take time and we'll probably have a mixed year or two, but then the benefits will flow and the players we're producing could honestly go on to bringing our club back to where we belong. No matter what's said about Rafa and the dreaded Hicks/Gillett era, I'll always be thankful for the academy that has been developed. As frankly without that potential, LFC could have some dark times ahead.

Papa G

Great post mate , you see the same as me ,there is a plan and the club as a whole is moving forward ,in my view probably with a bright future but expectations need to be realistic.

Excellent post Papa.

The real AG

It just goes to show the importance and passion we get from our managers. regardless of what we see on the pitch, in the near future we will see what the our previoue managers were really up to at lfc. and will thank them eventually! rafa and his gang set up good plans to breed raw talent and brendan seems to know when that talent is ready, so between the two, we are destined for greatness. Be patient and everything will one day just click! Good luck 2moro boys!

Great post Papa G. It is so important to look at the big picture. I know we are starved of success recently compared to our standards but this youth set-up has been in place for 5-6 years now and we're just beginning to get the first crop to harvest with more to come in the very near future. I think i'd also include McLaughlin on your list too. With a young boss like Brendan I think he can really nurture these lads and blend them into the squad. IMO Rafa's legacy will be the academy more than the CL victory EPl runners up and FA cup win.

Chi-Paul

Loved every bit of that post there papa lad,
even had a tear in my eye thinking of our glorious future to come, the mighty flaming liver bird will surely rise again. the futures bright the futures borrello

Well said mate.
They will be turning out internationals as frequently as Ajax and Barcelona within the next 10-15 years.
Scouse_Pride

Excellent post. Important for fans who berate Rafa's reign to realise just how much he did for the club not only on the pitch but in development of it - Hicks & Gillett were donkeys for Bednitez really knew his stuff, he implemented idea's after recognised our youth/academy system to be archaic and unproductive and we are starting to reap the rewards. We have some way to go for this to be translated over into a possible Premier League challenging team but it has began and, in Rodgers, we have a manager who is not afraid of giving the younger players game time. The present is a little grim but the future is looking brighter and brighter.

What the club really needs now is a long period of stability, it'll help build our club up and allow us to slowly get back to the upper echelons of the game - all those calling Rodgers fit to burn and suggesting he be sacked should have a word with themselves - we are NOT Chelsea, and we need our club to be run in a professional manner, not on the whims and moods of a couple of people at the top end.

If spurs lose 2moro and we win we'll only be 4 points off top 4 with a decent looking fixture list infront of us

Makes u wonder, If suarez goal v everton and enriques goal v swansea wasnt disgracefully disallowed we couldve potentially been in the top 4 2moro

But a win 2moro and we are looking good, fingers crossed

If the spurs goal would have counted a few years ago, we would have won the league!

Your right mate we are not as far off as some people think. We have played the bulk of our hard games this year with new players and Lucas and borini injured for most of them.
A new striker or 2 in January and the easier fixture list could see us challenging for 4th come the summer.

MIKEY

Good post until....

'We're building to be Barcelona, albeit not on that unbelievable level.'

We are building to become Liverpool of old, and the aim is to be better than Barcelonas best level, thats the point of the Academy.

To be fair watching match of the day yesterday you can see just how bad some referee's are - Arsenal vs. West Brom game was a shocker, Aston Villa vs. Stoke also a shocker. We have been done really badly this season, arguably more than most, but the stabdards of refereeing are diabolical at present, and we are not the only team suffering.

Having said that a lack of a penalty kick this season, when more than warranted on a number of occasions, does smack of some kind of an agenda within the FA because of the whole Suarez affair - it'll never be proven, but there can be no doubt that some of the treatment we have received this year has not been on par with other teams.

Targets

Walcott number one target. (suso on loan the other way as part of deal)

Huntlaar dependent upon if less than 10mil

Sturridge if Huntlaar is too much. They will pay far more for a younger player as proven by Dempsey.

Bent on loan - villa paying a good portion of wages and no intention of signing in summer

Honda will be enquirer about as seen as a long term playmaker to replace gerrard
Out

Cole for free to clear up wages for 2-3 other players

Downing - looking for 7.5mil

Pacheco as Morgan has now claimed his role as emerging young talent.

Possibly reinaalthough I'm not sure he would want to leave or if he could be replaced in jan. likley a summer move if at all.

Think everyone stopped after you said suso to go onloan to ARSENAL.
you put a player out on loan for him to get more game time, not for him to fight for a squad place like he has at liverpool. maybe if we went for ince he could go on loan to blackpool.

Ed what will happen if we finish below the top 10 and are cup performances arent up to scratch. will brendan still be kept in the job or will he get sacked. Also just wondering what were the targets at the start of the season. were we expecting top six or top 8. Cheers Antrim Red {Ed002's Note - The target was Champions League. For now Liverpool has a manager and the summer is a long way off.}

Cheers Antrim Red

Champions league HA!

Champions league LOL after the performance of the owners (and Ayre) in securing the players Rodgers was after? Joke.

Makes me laugh, the money spent on all these "stars" and michu 2.5 mil has banged another 2 in today. Laudrup says he won't sell him for less than 30 mil, I don't blame him either! Makes u think why half of these so called scouts can't find quality, probably don't care just wanna milk as much money as possible from clubs. Not goin on bout just Liverpool, I'm talkin world wide.

Right now, if we had £30M I'd love to throw it on the table and call Laudrup's bluff. Michu is one of the most complete players I've ever seen on his Premier form to date.....

We paid £5M more for AC for showing a similar level of form/quality - not sure if that's a warning or a price guide.

AC never showed that level of form

Dont get too excited, first seasons are a little easier than second season. Might just have one good year.

Nevada

Did,nt notice anyone posting about Michu before he went to Swansea. Never heard of him before. see what he is like next season
robbie

Do any of these posters wonder why Michu was so cheap? Remember that Cisse and Jelavic averaged a goal a game from January but have not done so this season. Players should be judged over a longer period - that was one of the problems with the signing of Carroll.
AK03

To the original poster, when clubs like swansea scout a player, they will go for above average players in a another league ala michu.they dont have the cash to buy big time players and they get them on the cheap.whereas we have so much pressure on us coz we have to win trophies and thats why we stump so much money and players cum to such a big club with a huge price tag on them and fail to perform.Hope you got my point.

INDIAN SCOUSER YNWA

Michu was and is not an average player. have you even seen him play in la liga? before he signed for swansea folks on this site were asking if there was a possibility that liverpool would enquire about him, and i for one was pretty excited about the prospect. word is (and i'm not entirely sure about this, somebody can correct me if i'm wrong) that he signed for swansea because he wanted to play for laudrup, so the price isn't really the determining factor here.

08 Dec 2012 17:06:15
With the way Liverpool is playing,I can almost guarantee a top 4 finish if we can get Walcott at all cost.There will be a tremendous improvement in our performance.

We all talk about how progress is going along but we are only 6 points above the relegation zone.

You can take ur negativity and go someplace else

And only halfway through the season...

Cuchulainn's Hounds

And 7 off the top 4

About time someone was realistic! There are some positives but seriously I think BR is just experimenting for his own personal gain. Ppl go on about what he did at Swansea, but fact is he didn't put make them play the way they did. Martinez started it and now laudrup is making them play better, they have an end product unlike us, unlike arsenal. Sorry to burst the bubble peeps but seriously Enrique left mid, downing left back? What happened to 4-3-3? And the amount of fans saying BR plays the youth we haven't had that for a while, he has no choice that's why he's done it! Kenny played Flanno and Robinson at times and they looked fantastic, yes a few games they were dodgy, but flanno against city did me proud as did Robinson vs arsenal. Now where are they? Stuck in the pipeline not given a fair chance! We have been starting fresh for too many years now, I will support and love liverpool fc till the day I die.Sorry to burst the bubble but we are going backwards under BR

And 7 points off 4th but my glass is half full.

If u take an interest in the club you will know the 18s & 21s are playing good football with great success, built over a couple of years now, our 1st team will follow and a route for the youngsters into the 1st 11, but people need to settle down, it's still early days for the 1st team.

Jimbob

Rodgers had swansea playing better then martinez so what does that say. dont remember anyone calling for laudrup to be appointed lfc manager. hindsight is a wonderful thing.

KUMBER

08 Dec 2012 19:55:42
Keep the faith , we all know why we are in this position and the blame goes higher than Br .

I think he is doing ok , we look solid but lack power up front.I think Br has done reasonably well with an embarrassingly shallow squad.

Lets hope we get some reinforcements in Jan before we slit our wrists.

Having a backbone can be useful

And are Swansea playing better or worse than last season?

Well who is to say rodgers wouldn't nave taken swansea to that next level if he had stayed.

If I calculate correctly , if and I say again if liverpool beat west ham they will be tenth with four teams only one point above. Liverpool on 22 and four others on 23. Nice to see the possibility of us getting back up there {Ed002's Note - Nearly correct - 10th with two or three on 23 points.}

Jeah, just sum them up like they are allready ours, that's nice. Why even look at the standing before the end of January?

Only see a draw tomorrow no striker ,west ham big side and on the back of that big win last week ,going to be very tough to get that point.

I think it will only 2 teams on 23, and 2 teams on 24 if tottenham draw with everton. Would be great to be simply 5 points from 4, I hope we win tomorrow. for the past 3 years, it is always the game when we close down the gap to such a small extent, that we lose, so hoping we win tomorrow.

08 Dec 2012 16:47:01
To Ed's and anyone ITK,
We brought on former Man City scouts after this past summer's transfer window. Where are they scouting? It seems that players that are targeted to go straight into the first team are selected by BR. These players are well known and do not need much research.

The players that will generate value are the foreign players, specifically younger players. Most clubs thatt successfully implement a youth program target certain areas. Are these scouts targeting Turkish & Greek players? That is the area where I am seeing us linked with the most. Uraguay?

Does anyone know where our main scouts are spending the most of their time? Either on travel to or targeting for research? Thanks

Coley {Ed002's Note - The ex Manchester City staff who arrived came in to head-up scouting operations for the club and to co-ordinate European scouting. I don't know what has made you think that Liverpool are targeting Turkish and Greek players. Certainly the club has a strong network of scouts and certainly much effort went in lookinf at South American players in the past nine months.}

It would seem a huge waste of time/money if they have been scouting south america all this time and dont sign anybody. {Ed002's Note - Where would you see this huge amount of money being wasted? And the club would not sign players just for the hell of it.}

Also worth mentioning that while we might identify amazing players from South America getting work permits is very tough for players from this region, so they may not get signed even if we identify them.

Nevada

I dont know if youve noticed but LFC have been developing strong ties in Turkey with a number of sponsorship deals, and also the football star tv reality show where a young lad from Turkey has joined our academy. We are now expanding our worldwide academies and also more reality tv shows will take place in India and China with more to follow. the guy in the hi viz.

As West Ham are very dangerous in the air, we should keep the ball on the ground and give away minimum opportunities to them!
We have to be vary of Diame cos he may drive through our midfield hopefully Lucas will stop at his tracks!
With Skrtel doing a very good job defending the aerial threat coming at us lately, I think Liverpool will do a fine job with Hammers and I am going for a 2 - 0 victory!

Just seen a few clips of Jordan Ibe. This guy WILL be world class mark my words. Its only youtube, but he looks like an improved version of Sterling. Good pace, acceleration, n a cracker of a right foot.

Ibe and sinclair are the real deal they will need 3/4 years to get there and if they keep there heads togheter we will have real stars.
i saw erikson 2 years ago and you could see he would be a good player.ibe and sinclair have everything to be top class

There are a few more up and coming stars behind the first team mate and some could become very big stars along with the two you talking about the future looks good the future looks red

Who do people think will start as a striker on Sunday, I would like to see Jerome Sinclair play as he's played brilliantly for the youth side at langtree park in his last few matches but I think BR will go with Pacheco
LP

I think he'll go shelvey as the false 9 flanked by sterling and enrique. Hopefully Lucas being back will allow Allen and Gerrard to help push forward in attack. I see Morgan on the bench but really can't see any of the young strikers starting.

Hey Ed002's Note

When Brenden Rogers was being interviewed on the plane back from Italy he said that one of our young players Jordan Ibe was going to sign his Professional contract Yesterday. Did anybody else hear him say this?

Thanks

Thatracoonstolemybacon {Ed002's Note - He can sign a professional contract which allows him to be paid as a non-apprentice at 17 but he still counts as a child as far as the rules and regulations go. These restrict the contract by length and terms until he is 18 - as is the case with Sterling.}

08 Dec 2012 13:56:27
Hi Eds

Has Jordan Ibe signed a new contract ?

Thanks

Thatracoonstolemybacon {Ed002's Note - He cannot sign a new long-term contract until he is 18.}

He has signed his first professional contract, Brendan announced it while being interviewed on their flight back to John Lennon's.

AsianRed {Ed002's Note - You seem to be confusing professional/amateur status with not being a child and signing a long term deal - which is what they will look to do with player of the ilk of Sterling - when they become 18.}

I heard Brenden say one of our young players Jordan Ibe was signing his professional contact. Maybe he got it wrong thinking Ibe was turning 18 and not 17

A bit late but as a fan of Liverpool and football, I just want to say that Antonio Di Natale is a legend. Great game from the Red Men. We just need to finish our chances but what a superb team we are. Quality play and I'm seeing us come together like I haven't seen in years. There's a sense of stability and quality coming from both our players and the way they play football. No matter what, I'm a happy Red for the forthcoming future.
Crimson Sid

Di Natali is a legend both on and off the pitch. He is financially supporting the disabled sister of the Udinese player that died last year, whilst on loan at a Serie B team. It is a sad situation because the player was the sole carer for his sister, so Di Natali has her cared for. I cannot remember the players name but he died just after Muamba had his cardiac arrest.
Scouse_Pride

Scouse_pride I did not know that about di Natale that is different class especially in this age of egotism,honest respect to the man a complete human being. Y.n.w.a

Quick question for the eds. What are the chances of us getting the deals done earlyin jan? Surely that must be the plan. I know some transfers arent straight forward but do you think things could be in place now? Great site by the way.

DIGGERBARNESNo10 {Ed002's Note - It is not possible to predict when transfers will be completed and selling clubs will always look to get the best deal they can, look to making sure they can get a replacement in if needs be etc..}

08 Dec 2012 12:44:43
Is there any chance of us identifying our targets early agree all terms and signing them 1st or 2nd of jan or do we wait until the end of jan and loose a whole month which we normally do..kls

08 Dec 2012 12:42:40
If ngoo doesn't play tomorrow which I suspect he won't he will never play for us. I've said before he won't because of his lack of quality but none of the other strikers at the club could cut it physically against west ham. If tomorrow isn't the game for him I suspect there never will be one. We need to offload him and Pacheco so that ibe can start with Sinclair on the bench Morgan right yesil central and Ibe left

Can you tell me ed's
All this talk of Cole(or any other player) being let go to free up the wage budget,would I be right in saying you'd still have to pay out there contract,therefore not really saving money!
I suppose what I'm getting at is if your paying them anyway why not keep the players
Hope I'm making sense thanks ! {Ed052's Note - Cole will go if a suitable deal can be agreed}

08 Dec 2012 12:22:02
Why would we go for Llorente when we let Andy Carroll go. they are the same sort of player. makes no sense to me tbh. pops

He is more technical,used to the pass and move system,good in the air like AC,good finish with both feet.
The only thing against ham is that he is 27. But i wouldn't have him here anyway unless we are desperate!

Indy Kevin

Llorente is quality, and no comparison to AC. Anyone who thinks they are similar has either not watched Llorente or not watched AC play. Only similarity is they are both tall, and can both head the ball.

Nick

Comparing Llorente to Carroll is like comparing Drogba to Carlton Cole , they both play the same way but one is clearly lightyears better than the other

Has football really changed that much that we are not sure about signing someone who is 27? I thought that was peak years for a srtiker, seems like many fans think you're a dinosaur at this age now.

Nevada

I believe all the critisism of AC is a bit harsh, wasn't given a proper chance, he is a player who could become great with the right guidance. He didn't ask to be sold to us and not for that price. Far too much pressure on the lad and correct me if I'm wrong but the kop seemed to support him!

Haha..last poster you must be joking..carroll is a player liverpool will regret buying...he is the main reason downing and adam flopped..this guy never attacks crosses,link up play is poor...plays like a donkey

The thinkg is but, how imressive was llorente when he was carrolls age ?

Can people give it a rest with the contract of Sterling. He will sign, probably within the next week. Of course people are going to be linked with a talent like him.
Happy Birthday Sterling Lad.

FowlerGod.

It makes me laugh when I hear the United rumours surrounding him, interesting to read Owens comments on how he would have won more as a youth player at United and how they would have managed him better.
They'd try anything..
Someone remind him of his namesake Hargreaves please!

Sterling will sign no worrys,chill out,and liverpool will have a pukka window coming up.we are on the up.jay essex red for life red till dead....

Obviously a united fan!
They know Sterling is better then their wingers maybe except Valencia yet but he is a one trick pony!

Your right there mate valencia is a one trick pony a diving one trick pony

Valencia relays on his pace so once the legs tighten up he will have to adapt his game. Despite being a diving git who plays for united i still rate him though.

Hi Eds

Is there any chance of Lewis Holtby moving to Liverpool in January?

Thanks

Thatracoonstolemybacon {Ed052's Note - Its a low possibility. Unlikely I would say. We only know of unconfirmed interest, and there are far better options to him open}

He's not that great a player IMO, good free transfer in summer but I wouldn't pay a fair bit of money for him.

Looking forward to the game tomorrow ,

I think we will win ( just) I think that we will get right into them first half and then slump as usual in the second .

With no Caroll and with Lucas available again I beleive we will be able to deal with West Hams Direct play.

I do think we will need to score at least 2 goals to win possibly 3 as I am almost certain that the Hammers will score .

looking forward to BR giving Faith to Morgan or Yesil , I dont think that Jonjo could play right up need him to help dominate the middle .

As I've said before I don't have any inside knowledge but I do have a friend in the bookmaking industry and although his past tips have been a little hit and miss he has informed me this morning that Liverpool have genuine interest in Matias Suarez. I know this name has come up many times before but have any if the Eds heard anything lately?

hey ed!
do u mind telling me exactly what we are looking for in this transfer window?
a backup for lucas is must if not coady is given chance

Ed52 so you dont see us signing Ince then mate?

Mighty reds

Ed52 so you dont see us signing Ince then mate?

Ed do i man we will only move for ince if sterling doesnt sign
thanks {Ed052's Note - That's what Im hinting at yes}

Why would we be scouting keepers. we have pepe who in my opinion is still world class just had a dip in form like alot of players go through. jones has really impressed me during his stand in games and peter gulacsi i think will one day be the liverpool number one. do you think we will buy for the future or will we buy the finished product.

KUMBER {Ed052's Note - I'm just passing on what I've been told. Ed002 has said that Reina might consider his options in the summer}

While it is very clear that we really need a striker I am surprised at the relative lack of urgency shown towards the LB spot!

Kelly is out for the season and Wisdom who undoubtedly has done well but the fact is that he's a CB and very young to be played so regularly through out the season. For how long can we play with Downing as LB? And the moment Johnson or Enrique get injured we will be in serious trouble!

So I hope we sign a LB along with a striker!

We have johnson kelly and flannagan with cover if needed from wisdom and carra. Left back we have enrique and robinson and uf needed johnson and agger can play here. He plays downing there cos he wants to not cos he needs to.

I thought Andre played RB?
Personally I'd prefer a strong left winger, who can interchange with Jose during the match (like Johnson and Jose did in the one game they played together) plus a couple of strikers

samp

Shaw is being looked at.

Robinson?? even flanagan could play there.

I love Carra dont get me wrong but i dont see the sense in playing him anymore. Surely Coates after joining from uruguay as copa america young player of the tournament should be getting the exp under his belt. He must be freaked not getting much ball time. Its ridiculous. Why is he playing carra ahead of him? to help him get more caps? Carra has been a legend but careers end and new blood needs time to bed in. Rodgers as manager should be making these tough decisions. Decisions based on football alone and the future of the club. Hes not getting paid to make popular decisions. Carra still offers a lot to the team..just not on the pitch anymore unfortunately.
id like to see suso getting more prem league time in the middle of the park in the hole behind suarez. Our play in the final 3rd is poor. We are retaining posession a lot better. working our way patiently to the opposition box then we are cum***g in our cacks. pardon my french.
we have good width with sterling and assaidi/enrique. just need that playmaker in the hole. (Arda turan or Aimar at their peak or zola) someone like that. we need a strike partner for suarez obviously. but anyways i want to see suso given an extended run in that position. he has the quality. anyone any ideas on how to improve the squad over jan??

Ted's got no balls mate. Bringing him on for 2 minutes last week was a joke and could have cost us dearly. He headed it twice, launched it down the line and booted someone in the stomach for which he got carded. It's like bringing your dad along for a kickaround with your mates except your dad doesn't get paid 100k a week. Don't rule out him getting another contact, specially if Coates gets fed up waiting.Then we can look forward to him coming on for a few minute cameos, shouting at kids and stumbling his way to Cally's appearance record
if he loved the club as much as he claims, he'd do a Gary Nev,admit he couldn't cut it anymore and leave BR to do his job
Tony Iommi's plastic finger

I thought carra had a good game and believe he has much more to offer then his knowledge of the game, if it wasnt such a must win game im sure it would have been coates and sama but liverpool is a business first and getting into the knock out stages means more money.

i think we will c some spending in January depending on how far off 4th place we are, think the owners will be as impressed with rodgers as i am,

call me an optimist but just cause we did not spend on the last day of the window does not mean we do not have the money and because rodgers says we dont have lots of money to spend does not mean that the funds are limited, what i am reading from this is that rodgers does not want to have his pants pulled down like kenny had when he was given money(every club know that kenny had money to spend) . what i think fsg's and rodgers plan is to play this season and see what positions need strengthening. then get the players we need in the summer and at a better price then winter. then next year we can have a better go at 4th place after they have had a year to assess the squad.

if the right player is available we will have the money.

what if messi comes out and says he has been a liverpool fan all his life and wants to join them in the summer, barca say because of all he has done for them they will let him go for £65million i bet you the money would we waiting tomorrow morning.

Brad Friedel commented that Defoe is as good as Robbie Fowler. I'm not sure about everybody else on this page but I can't agree with that Fowler was a much better player then Defoe is just a bit of a ridiculous comparison.

They know where the net is

No way is Defoe as good as what Robbie Fowler was. Isn't in the same street! He wasn't called god for nothing. In my opinion Fowler was the most gifted natural striker since Ian Rush and never got the recognition he deserved especially with England. Face never fit!

Ian the red

I used to quite like Brad Friedel but he has dropped down in my estimations after that ridiculous comment. Fowler is known as God for a reason.
Defoe come back when you've scored 31 goals in 44 appearances in one season 96-97 Or scored 28 goals in one EPL season 95-96.
Or even scored a hat-trick in 3 minutes.
Or win 5 trophies in one season 2001.
I could carry on....

FowlerGod.

Robbie Fowler is a hundred times the striker that Defoe is. I've never seen any striker with a natural ability to score with both feet, head, inside and outside the box and free kicks. Also far more clinical than DeFoe, no brainer for me.

DeFoe goes through a hot patch and everyone thinks he's amazing. Aside from when he was injured Fowlers entire liverpool career was a hot patch.

Right, I'm not that knowledgeable on how club finances work but when people/clubs say we need to get so and so off the wage bill or we freed up money on the wage bill don't you still have to pay the players their remaining wages anyway. Is it in one lump some or how does it work? Because if you're paying them the same amount that they would have earned while they were still with the club why is it so important to get them off the bill?

GuvTOB

If Downing breaks contract by moving to Port Vale, surely we don't carry on paying wages as well as PV - he would be on a new contract so selling players who are high earners can work

Michael Owen please just shut the f... up! What a loser!

HK {Ed001's Note - what has he said? Sorry I just tend to switch over or off any time I see him. Never liked him when he was with us, he was always a money grubber.}

He said 'liverpool ruined his career by playing him too much at a young age and if he had signed for the mancs earlier hed have have won a lot more'. {Ed001's Note - he was always a tool.}

08 Dec 2012 02:52:11
It is an effort by Ferguson, who made the comments last month to unsettle Sterling

Owen also said his best time of his career was at Liverpool! Well duh , we made you a star and now he is blaming us for overplaying him?
I think if it has anything to do, it is to unsettle Sterling!
Fergie's idea?

Indy Kevin

To be fair he also said that he wouldn't trade his time at Liverpool for anything and he's quoted as saying himself that " he would rest when he was 40" so who's to blame? The club? Or a stubborn young man who never would relinquish his place for club or country? It's a 50/5O in my opinion. Obviously a special player but what a f'n tool for even implying that it was LFC's fault. Anyway, lets dominate West Ham like we oughta yea? I'll be watching and poundin beers and maybe a before noon cheesesteak. Cheers reds.

phillyred

Ah, he's just trying to maintain his public profile as most people remember him as a footballer who played in the early 2000s.

cozinoz

Compare the treatment of Pwen to Giggs...he has a point

He went to real madrid not to man utd that is the thing that f'd him up

One word to describe Owen...."w*nker".

To the person who wants to compare him to Giggs, how many games did they both play before they were 23?

I think you'll find Giggs played more than Owen, so what's your point?

We made the player you once was. That Argentina goal who not have come if you didn't play for us, you sell out aardvark.

FowlerGod.

I think he was criticising his own behaviour towards both Houllier and Thompson in forcing them to play him to many times in his late teens early 20s and coming back too early from injury by saying he 'would rest when he is retired'. Even in those days I remember leaks in the press stating Owen would not be signing a new contract extension and agents placing leaks in the Sunday papers.

I'm same as ed001 I never liked Owen even when he was with us, always seemed to use us as a springboard for England. Used to annoy me how he'd miss matches injured for us and magically find fitness for England a few days later.

Then there is the aforementioned money grubbing. Never had the club at heart, he's not worth one of fowlers boot laces.

Nevada

The fact he was very regularly out with hamstring injuries, and then took a good few matches to get back to match fitness means we needed to play him when fit just to get our bloody money's worth!

He should have followed Giggs and taken up Yoga, we can be blamed for the failings of the last 7 years of his career, he's made 4 club moves since us, if he was that crocked surely he would not have passed any medicals..

SideShowBob.

Ahaha like how the way "aardvark" came up when i called him the french word for wildebeast.

FowlerGod.

Ever get the feeling there's a blackadder-baldrick kind of relationship between ferguson and owen?

I remember speaking to a mate in Belfast a few years ago who played against owen in an U16 tournament. He said owen had that air of arrogance and cockiness back then before he even broke into the first team. Theres no denying the guy had talent in between hamstring troubles, an amazing talent for us but a complete turkey who has a lot of experience in spouting quite a lot of verbal diarrhea at the best of times.
