Yes, watched that crowd of . . ers playing last night and some of the Valencia midfielders really stood out. I know Carrick and Anderson are dirt and not good enough and they are still trying to fill the boots of Keane . . . Veron, Kleberson Djemba Djemba have all failed but I really don't see it in Lucas. I hope youse are right but I don't see it. It's hard to even work out what type of midfielder he is . . . passing , tackling , goalscoring . . . he doesn't fit any of these. Are we clutching at straws. . . we may be left waiting.

Lucas was an attacking midfielder at Gremio and from what i've seen he's at his best when allowed to go forward. But i think we can safetly say that's not going to happen under Hodgson who likes his centre midfielders not going to far forward just like Rafa.

The only time Mireless is allowed to go forward is when he's taking the corners. But i have to admit that when Lucas plays for Brazil he's also used as a holding midfielder.

Maybe just maybe Hodgson has a second job on the side managing Brazil to.

No Ed don't worry mate your deffinitely on the LFC site.

I'll probably be slaughtered for this but i was watching the SSN report about the disgraceful sacking of Chris Hughton (Newcastle) and i felt a bit embarrassed. Why? Because Newcastle thought he was not the right man for the job and they were above us at the time. So what does that make Roy if Hughton gets the sack from Newcastle and seems to be doing a better job than Hodgson. And Hughton has less experience and worse players than Hodgson.

In short i can't believe Hodgson is still our manager.

IF LIVERPOOL TOOK THAT CRAPPY PLAYER WE CALL JOVANOVIC ON A FREE AT 29 YEARS OF AGE THEN WHY THE HELL IS RONALDINHO OUT OF THE QUESTION AT 30 YEARS OF AGE. . . AND DONT SAY BECAUSE OF WAGES BECAUSE I HAVE TWO WORDS FOR YOU REGARDING THAT. . . JOE COLE.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Have you been in Togo for a few months mate? You do realise some of the things our new owner said (that is if the news reached you in Togo). He wants value for money, and would a 30-year-old (31 in not too long) on £120,000 (over £6m per year) offer value for money? Not really.

And before you say "Joe Cole" or "Jovanovic" again, those deals were done well before Mr.Henry bought our club.

if we can convince ronaldinho to drop his wages for 2 years i think hed be a good signing for us, he can always go to usa after 2 years and earn bigger money, not like hes in need for the big money anyway, hes always said he love to give the prem a go b4 he retires and he has about 5 -6 years left in his career if not more, he can do 2 years here in prem then earn the mega bucks in usa for last 3-5 years

Lucas never has and never will be good enough for our midfield . . . couldn't lace the boots of Gerrard, Mascherano & Alonso. Do you think when opposing teams/ fans see a midfield with Lucas and Merieles in it that it strikes the fear of god into them. Don't think so . . . a soft centre. Merieles . . . maybe a bit more time but I doubt it. With regards to Viera, Henry , etc . . I know these players are great players but do we have the time/ money to take the chance. With regards to the other players I listed . . It's only a few thoughts and if you think only one is suitable for our club . . well I beg to differ. The defenders are all big , strong imposing types and the midfielders are all tricky / intelligent players. On another note we always used to go after players who played well against us and stood out. Nasri did it and we didn't go after him. Valbuena, some of the standard Liege players were good against us and some of the lads off Benfica. What youse think.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
I think your a bit harsh on Lucas mate for me he's been one of our better players so far this season.

Once we get a striker Gerrard will move back into the centre with Mireless and Lucas will be a good back up. I watched the Man'ure match last night hoping they would get stuffed and saw Carrick and Anderson do what they do best (play sh*t). Remember Carrick and Anderson both cost 19 mill each and Lucas cost 6. Also Lucas is now a regular in the Brazil team so he must be doing somthing right.

I've seen a few articles linking us with Pablo Hernanedz (Valencia) after what i saw from him last night he would be a great signing.

It's the 1st time i've been on this site for a while and noticed it looks more like coming on to Blind Date's website. Ed what's happened since i've been away?

For the people saying we should not sign Suarez he's a cheat etc. For me you are wrong Ronaldo, Drogba are cheats would you refuse them? Someone asked 3-4 weeks ago "If we could sign one player who would it be?" I said Suarez he's excatly what we need he scores goals, he works hard for the team and is young. What he did (biting) was inexcusable but he's a fantastic striker and trust me loads of teams will be very interested if he becomes available.

I don't think we will sign him BUT it's better than being linked for the likes of Carlton Cole, Chris Brunt etc.

I'm amazed that Liverpool are being linked with Ronaldhino. Surely it is Man City who specialise in buying players for ridiculous amounts on ridiculous contracts?

(realise that he would be on a free transfer, but I'm sure his salary would make up the difference. Look at Cole and jovanovic for examples)

Lads/ lassies first time on this web site and I have to say who is Ken Aguero. Is this a joke I ain't getting. There is Aguero the argentinian but who is Ken Aguerro. On the topic of transfers I have to say that I believe in horses for courses when it comes to Prem League. Specially if you want instant impact and results. All these names that we have never really seen playing before and playing in leagues inferior to prem league leaves us open to signing yet more duds . . . . Babel, Merieles, Poulsen, Lucas, Aurilio, Krygiagos etc etc. Would much rather buy three quality players than trying to buy loads of mediocre players in the hope they turn out good. We have made that mistake before when needing just one or two quality players we go for four or five. The players I would like to see chased are . . Shawcross, Hangeland , Dann, Lescott (CB & LB) in defence . Johnson (Man City), Pienaar , Lee (Bolton) Jarvis and up front Adebayor (High Maintenance I know) , Doyle Carroll . What youse think. I would rather three of them for now than six unknown quantities and then build on that.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Out of all the players that you like, I only like 1, Johnson. But it's not going to happen. Just a few names for you of signings from inferior leagues, as you put it:-
Ronaldo, Drogba, Berbatov (at the spuds), Viera, Henry, Van Nistelrooy I could go on.
And are you honestly saying that Lucas and Miereles are mediocre? Well then you will be bitterly disappointed with the other players you want.

Ed what are your thoughts on cleo? Scored against arsenal twice. Very physical and strong in the air. Fairly fast and can shoot with both feet. Says he can't refuse Liverpool and wages wouldn't be to bad. I'll think of him as a poor mans Llorente {ed's note - twice? Oh never mind I just realised he scored in the first match between them. He looks decent on tonight's evidence, I would want to see more of him if it was my money I was spending though. But he might be a good value option for a striker to allow us more to spend on wingers and a left back.}

{ed's note - sorry mate, I shouldn't be such a smart a* * but I can't help myself. I think it would be an excellent team, not going to happen though, Gibbs is only not first choice for Arsenal because he keeps getting injured when he gets a run in the team. Wenger is more likely to let Clichy go than Gibbs.}

(0) (0) it could work with aurelio, if we can and that's a huge if, keep him fit, konchesky. . maybe untill the summer , untill a "taiwo" or someone in that mould could be signed.
also, afer recent weeks, the form of lucas is the biggest indication yet that if a player of ability, and talent is given time to adjust to life in england and adapt to the demands of the premier league then there is a chance they will good in the end. . . .hope roy gives aqualani the same chance.

With regards to all these 'rumours' we all reading, I would hope that NESV have faith in the people there paying to find our players and then coach them appropriately. They more likely than not won't splash the cash like City are, but that's not to say there aren't players out there, quality players, who won't cost silly money. These are the types of players they're likely to sanction in Jan and the summer. I do believe some of the more logical rumours we're all hearing, and if I had my choices they'd defo be Honda, Hazard(though £££), and a partner for Fernando, being either Saurez or Llorente.

Ta for posting Ed(s)

Ed, Is the Suarez transfer practical with so many other clubs surely willing to take his talents on? Would he join us do you think? If I was in his shoes the prospect of playing most of the remaining games for liverpoolFC would be too good to turn down. (Although I've had my rose coloured glasses on for that long now it hurts when I take them off). Also, why people (LFC fans!) would turn there nose up at the chance of Suarez coming to LFC is crazy. The lad is class. (Ed, I have to say sorry for getting a few things off my chest at you a while back - Questioning if you were a blue is way below the belt)

EPortRed {ed's note - I don't want Suarez to join us but I have no doubts that he would love to move to us. He has been looking for a move from Ajax for a while, but they priced him out of a summer move. I don't think they can afford to keep hold of him any more, they are in similar difficulties to the Spanish clubs, they have to sell players, that is why Jol left. They promised to keep their better players when they convinced him to not take over at Fulham, that has changed now though. Personally I don't think he is the right player for us though, far too temperamental and can't handle the rough stuff. In England he will get kicked from pillar to post and I just can't see him not reacting and picking up lots of cards. As for the rest, no worries mate, we all say things in anger that are deliberately designed to offend the person we are talking to - and let's face it what is more offensive that being called a bluenose?}Although ed, Suarez is technically a great striker and has the ability to score 20+ a season easily and may well be the support Torres so regularly needs! This type of signing would definitely appease the foundations of our team ie torres gerrard reaina carragher and would definitely push us up onto that next level. just a question for you ed how many goals could you see torres and suarez scoring together? and take into account the confidence torres would get off a player with such immense techincal ability! something that is very important in the league {ed's note - hard to say mate, I can see him missing a lot of games through suspension in the more physical EPL. If he can knuckle down he could easily get 20 goals though.}

Hiya ed, just reading through 2days forum on lastest rumours, and in my opinion 3 have some legs to em, honda seems to be quite publicised and could well happen, suarez, would imo be a great signing, but would have to calm his temprement, also, i no wingers are needed, but the banega rumour seems to be a good shout, as he would provide us with a player in the mould of alonso. wud you be happy with these 3 signings in jan, as johnson provides alot of width down the right flank and roy may feel with kuyt, maxi even babel we should be ok till the summer at least. what are you thoughts? {ed's note - all would improve the team but I am not sure it would be the best use of our resources to bring in Banega.}

Does anybody think Rafa Benitez will be getting the sack at Inter? If he does surely he will realise what a good thing he had at Liverpool with truely great fans offering wonderful support over his 6 years. Unfortunately I believe he will become more and more bitter towards Liverpool and we will be swamped with leaks from the Benitez camp to Guillem Balague over the coming months. Rafa blew it and should never have got involved in club politics.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

I'm sympathetic towards him at Inter. People are just ignorant and saying stuff like "he's ruining the European Champions" and that kind of thing but I don't think it's as simple as that.

People should ask themselves why Mourinho had decided to leave them months before the season finished. Mourinho said it was the Italian media, but that was an easy smokescreen. The reality it, Mourinho realised he had an ageing team, and a thin squad and the problem was that Moratti wasn't going to sufficiently invest in the team to buy younger players and improve the depth of the squad, despite winning the CL later on.

Rafa has inherited a team with many players either in or past their prime. And he asked Moratti for money in the Summer because he wanted to sign three or four good players and he was given the cold shoulder. If you look at Inter's best XI, and look at the bench or the rest of the squad, it is extremly poor.

It'll be a re-building job there now.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
BUT IF HE IS SACKED, HE WILL PROBABLY BECOME MORE AMD MORE BITTER TOWARDS LIVERPOOL FC, IF NOT THE CITY, COMMUNITY AND FANS. IN HIS HEAD HE WILL REALISE HE BLEW IT. HE COULD HAVE MANAGED LIVERPOOL FOR MANY MORE YEARS IF HE HADN'T BEEN SO STUPID AND CHILDISH.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

So Inter Milan sack him, and he's bitter towards Liverpool, the city and people? Why? Rafa Benitez has recently spoken about how Liverpool still have a place in his heart, and he kept his house there. Even after he got sacked he spoke of his love for the club, people and city.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Read again. I said his bitterness towards the club only, but not the city, community and the fans. I wouldn't be surprised if he and his family moved back to the Wirral if he is sacked by Inter as he and his family apparently loved living there.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
You suggest he would be bitter towards the city and fans. So you read again. And I asked you why he would be bitter towards the club and you failed to answer. He's only ever said positive things about the club. It would be G&H and others he's bitter towards. He loves LFC.

I don't see how any Liverpool fan wouldn't want Luis Suarez. You don't need 11 choir boys on the pitch to win a match. If as reports suggest we can get him for under 10 mil that's an outrageous bargain. Is it a bit of a risk? Probably, but even if it doesn't work its not like we would have spent 30 mil on the guy. He's a tremendous fit for the club because he could play in various roles/ ways. He could partner with Torres, he could play in Torres role when Fernando is not fit, he could play the wing in a 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1, he could play in a false 9 role with Torres and another forward playing off him.

The whole reason we can get him is because of his issues, if he were a totally clean player we wouldn't be able to get him for double this price, maybe triple. It's a risk but without a doubt in my mind its a risk worth taking.

EPortRed {ed's note - I don't want Suarez to join us but I have no doubts that he would love to move to us. He has been looking for a move from Ajax for a while, but they priced him out of a summer move. I don't think they can afford to keep hold of him any more, they are in similar difficulties to the Spanish clubs, they have to sell players, that is why Jol left. They promised to keep their better players when they convinced him to not take over at Fulham, that has changed now though. Personally I don't think he is the right player for us though, far too temperamental and can't handle the rough stuff. In England he will get kicked from pillar to post and I just can't see him not reacting and picking up lots of cards. As for the rest, no worries mate, we all say things in anger that are deliberately designed to offend the person we are talking to - and let's face it what is more offensive that being called a bluenose?}
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
I agree ed. He obviously has tempermental issues (biting opponents !). Also yes he had a good World Cup and I realise Ajax are a big club with lots of great history, but if he was really up there with the best would he really be playing in Holland. Why not Spain or Italy as his first step into European football.

Kuyt had another great game on Monday; wish people would get off his back. He can't pass the ball forward, his control is terrible, out of 32 touches Monday, he gave it away 25 times. His shooting is terrible and players go round him easy but he works so hard, jogging around and closing players done, such a good player. I would hate us to replace him with a player with pace, be able to beat players and create lots of opportunities for others, oh and not give the ball away.

I'm being sarcastic by the way just in case some morons think that paragraph is for real.

This moral debate about Suarez is completely ridiculous. How could a Liverpool fan not want such a top quality striker to partner Torres in attack? Just because he did something stupid on the pitch? Shawcross broke a leg or two with a stupid tackle yet fans still want him. Mascherano made countless rash tackles and they were cheered by fans. I'd say most fans would jump for joy too if Zidane was linked to LFC in some sort of role.

So he did something stupid on the pitch, so what. Many before him have done so, and will continue to do so in Liverpool shirts and other teams. They're football players. .and a lot of them do stupid things.

Ask Torres, Reina or Gerrard if they'd like a top quality striker who showed a lot of passion in an important World Cup match & then a bit too much passion/ aggression in an Ajax match. They probably ask how soon can he get to LFC!

()()

08 Dec 2010 17:30:05
The difference is Gerrard, Ronaldo or Messi never bit people. He's obviously a nasty person as well as a player, you can't have him getting sent off left, right and centre when we need goals or Torres is injured. He also risks getting LFC fined by the FA for such behaviour and tarnishing our reputation as a relatively clean, good-natured club.
Plus, have you seen his interview after the Ghana game? He was gloating and glorifying himself as a hero, hardly Premier League material, where he'd be looked up to by young players.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Well, it was one indicent wasn't it? It's not as if he's biting people left, right and centre week in week out. And if one player is getting sent off all of the time, it doesn't tarnish Liverpool's discipline record, just the individual player.

So he glorified himself as a hero, but he was a hero to his team-mates and to the people in his nation. I mean, if an England player had done that, his team-mates would be delighted as would the fans. Of course from the outside looking in, it is deemed cheating and disgusting.

Didn't us Liverpool fans call Fowler "God" after his drug antics off the field, and his mockery of it by sniffing the pitch? Didn't Gerrard near break someones face in a club by elbowing him? Hasn't Gerrard cheated? - I guess you don't want him at Liverpool then?

Like I said mate, stones in glass houses. Cheating can't be condoned at all, but we can't criticise others for doing it when our own players past and present have done it and will do it again probably.

STOP ARGUEING ABOUTBLUIS SUAREZ. .LETS ASK ED'S OPINION ABOUT SUAREZ. . does he suit to wear lfc jersey, all his trouble are unforgivable. .can he change his attitude. .can he be a top scorer for liverpool ed?

fazzy {ed's note - would be a boring site if no one else gave an opinion mate. But my opinion is that he would score goals, when he was available, but would spend far too long unavailable after reacting to a foul the ref didn't spot. You only have to look at the kicking Torres gets in a match and it is hard to imagine Suarez not reacting to that kind of abuse.}

EPortRed {ed's note - I don't want Suarez to join us but I have no doubts that he would love to move to us. He has been looking for a move from Ajax for a while, but they priced him out of a summer move. I don't think they can afford to keep hold of him any more, they are in similar difficulties to the Spanish clubs, they have to sell players, that is why Jol left. They promised to keep their better players when they convinced him to not take over at Fulham, that has changed now though. Personally I don't think he is the right player for us though, far too temperamental and can't handle the rough stuff. In England he will get kicked from pillar to post and I just can't see him not reacting and picking up lots of cards. As for the rest, no worries mate, we all say things in anger that are deliberately designed to offend the person we are talking to - and let's face it what is more offensive that being called a bluenose?}

I can see your point to be fair, never thought about how he'd cope with the battle. He would probably over react at times, but I do like players with a fire in the belly. I don't think it would be a situation of him backing down tho.

(ha , the fire in my belly was talking with the bluenose comment. Again sorry)

EPortRed {ed's note - no worries mate, you get used to abuse editing sites like this. Once you give an opinion of your own you have to expect people to disagree and believe me I have read a lot worse than what you said.}

What has Nadal got to do with LFC. We want class players regardless or their gamesmanship. Suarez would be the biggest signing since Nando and would fit into any side. I really think some people need to realise that we are not in a good position when it comes to attracting the "big name players". Begger's can not be choosers and until we get back into the Champions League and competing for the league we are beggers in the market.

I have a question Ed, if we do manage to sign Honda, where exactly would he play? I mean, Gerrard and Meireles have those 2 attackingish midfield areas and Lucas has the holding midfielder role. I'm not the bigest fan of Lucas, but he's been brilliant in his past few games and I don't think Hodgson would actually give away his place to Honda. Basically my question if we do sign Honda, where exactly would he play? {ed's note - he could play on the left, on the right or up front, or left back, as well as cover for the central midfield. Take your pick really.}

Cheating, yes. But shows the lengths he was willing to go to for his country.

Hasn't Gerrard dived and won us penalties and celebrated after scoring? Our fans celebrated also.

Lets not throw stones in glass houses. I take it if Liverpool were going to sign Ronaldo or Messi you would strongly object as both players have cheated in the past?

— —

The difference is Gerrard, Ronaldo or Messi never bit people. He's obviously a nasty person as well as a player, you can't have him getting sent off left, right and centre when we need goals or Torres is injured. He also risks getting LFC fined by the FA for such behaviour and tarnishing our reputation as a relatively clean, good-natured club.
Plus, have you seen his interview after the Ghana game? He was gloating and glorifying himself as a hero, hardly Premier League material, where he'd be looked up to by young players.

Liverpool's new owners retained £45m in banking credit facilities in their takeover last month as part of a package of three loan agreements between Royal Bank of Scotland and the Tom Hicks-George Gillett era Liverpool.

The bulk of that package was the Hicks-Gillett acquisition debt, or "facility A", which was paid with £217.8m of share capital injected into NESV's UK subsidiary, UKSV Holdings. New England Sports Ventures' John W Henry told the Guardian this week that only £37m in stadium-related borrowings are now left in the club.

However, Digger can reveal that mortgage documents lodged with Companies House last week show two Hicks-Gillett era loan facilities were specifically renewed upon NESV's takeover of Liverpool on 15 October.

These "facilities B and C" remain undrawn; but neither have they been cancelled. It was revealed during the court action that delivered Liverpool to NESV last month that the first, £25m, facility B relates to player purchases. The other is a "revolving facility", essentially an overdraft, which also remains untapped.

Henry has said: "We removed all debt but the stadium debt. LFC is not servicing debt other than stadium debt." Which is, of course, true for now, and it should be stressed that clubs commonly use such facilities for working capital purposes.

Indeed if Henry is true to his word when he says "we borrow short term and pay back short term" then debt-averse Liverpool fans have nothing to fear. But these previously undisclosed loan facilities are certainly something they should keep an eye on.
Pragmatic John W Henry sees grounds for sharing

The £37m Tom Hicks and George Gillett borrowed from RBS for preparatory work on a Stanley Park stadium hangs like a millstone around Liverpool, and it could force the Reds into a groundshare with Everton. NESV's John W Henry (below) says he "admires Arsenal very much" for the profitability of their operation but with the Emirates Stadium thriving, Arsenal are at a different stage in their development to his new club.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Wonder what that's all about? Seems like the football equivelent of a credit card.

I wouldn't worry about it, seems like people trying to deploy some "scare-tactics" to make Liverpool fans panic and question Henry.

Wonder what it will be used on? January transfers possibly?

Bet you haven't even seen Robinson play apart from the day he played at Hull. Yet you'll probably sit here and say not to sign such and such a player as we have a top young left-back in Robinson.

And to answer your question "why on earth would we do that" - well, we have a donkey playing at left-back in the form of Konchesky, an injury prone player in Aurelio, and in Insua (if he comes back) a hopeless defender.

i can't believe roy bought meriles to play on the right if he did its a waste of a quality players talents

I really can't see us selling any of our bigger players in January to be honest. It doesn't make any real sense and we're not in a position where we need the money. Obviously there has been talk of a rift between Johnson and Hodgson but Johnson has performed (offensivly anyway) since he has came back and is showing no signs that he wants out.

Ok, you want reasons? 1. His wages are around £6.5 million a year. 2. He is hardly young or English. 3. He is past his best. 4. He wouldn't play for a club not competing for titles. 5. He would rather earn crazy wages in USA or the middle east. Now please understand we will never! Ever! Sign Ronaldinho!

its still not a never ever, , he could be willing to drop his wages as hes stated that he would like to give the premier league a go b4 he retires the money he has already im sure he would be willing to drop them for 2 years then go on to usa and earn the crazy money for last 3-5 years of his career and jus cos hes 30 don't make him crap u don't lose talent with age maybe slight bit of pace but hes still good enough to assist players and score goals, and as for fighting for titles what titles exactly would he get in usa or middle east nothing good he has atleast 5 years left in football so 2 years to give the prem a go won't hurt him

Maxi Rodriguez during his career has averaged 1 goal every 4 games prior to his arrival at LFC , he has averaged for us 1 goal every 9 games during the last 11 months - however , recently Maxi has scored 3 goals in the last 7 Premier League games - hopefully he is producing the form that he is reknowned for .

Maxi is a good player. Very useful. I think he is coming good. As far as I am aware he has got his head down and hasn't asked to move like one former Argentinian player.

It seems the press are kissing spurs arses again, if liverpool had lost the lead three times the press would have put us to the sword saying poor performannce, can't hold a lead, the club is turmoil, but when spurs or man utd do it its a full back page spread, fantastic result, 10 out of 10, the manager a genuise.
If liverpool win 10 -0 the press would still find some kind of fault
================================
It happend throughout the Rafa era. They seem totally unaware of our excellent record in the Champions League under Benitez and the fact that we were number one seeds for several years. They seem to be totally unaware when it suits the story that we beat Barcelona, Real Madrid, Juventus, AC Milan, Inter Milan, Chelsea, Arsenal, PSV, Marseilles, Besiktas and Olympiacos between 2004-2010. They are totally unaware of rafa's record at Valencia where they broke the Real/ Barca stranglehold with two La Liga titles and two UEFA Cups.
I have always said that if Sky and the London red tops could have four London teams (Chelsea, Spurs, Arsenal and West Ham) in the Champions League, they would be very happy.

It makes me laugh sometimes some of the posts on here! One minute we are being linked with the likes of Carlton Cole, Clint Dempsey and drivel like that because they are not World Class and who are not up to the standard of Liverpool FC and then when we get a strong rumour of Luis Suarez, we have people saying we don't want him because he is a cheat and such like. Well personally i think he is World Class and that is the type of player we should be targeting if we go for a big tall striker to partner Torres we will end up playing hoof ball! In todays modern game there is cheating in every single game by pretty much most players whether it is a dive, shirt pulling, deliberate fouls, deliberate handball i could go on! If Suarez is available and we have a chance of getting him we should go all out to complete the sale and Welcome a World Class player to our great club. YNWA

To whom who makes lists on ronaldinho about certain facts:
1. NESV did say about younger players, they did not say that was all, they will still need other players with experience to steady the ship, surely Arsenal are proof of that.
2. Ronaldinho would take a pay cut to come to prem, as he has stated he would like to come and give it a go, on numerous occasions.
3. Age should not affect ability greatly, just physicality, look at Giggs, Scholes, Brad Friedel, David Beckham, Paolo Maldini, to name but a few!
4. You state that he has put on punds but is not physically able for the premiership, each statement counters. And although he is not quite the player he was, you may remember the fact that as recently as last year he tormented Premiership teams in the Champions League and destroyed us at internation level in the last few years.

The player has ability, physicality, prescence and is attacking. .

The trouble with O' Neil is that he comes over quite well on TV if a little eccentric, but in affect I think everybody would hate his kick and rush style football, basically turning Liverpool into Stoke.

To be honest from what i saw from banega last night id don't see him being an improvment on lucas, lucas is realy begining to shine now hes got a massive future here for us, gerrard has maybe 2 years

how can you judge these players on one game judge them over 10, 15, 20 games but don't judge a player on one game

they are 2 very very good players remember what you said they look average look at them again again again and again

I totaly agree with you mate, if for one minute you think that's the first time ive seen him play then your mistaken, benega very rarley starts for valencia and there about the same age one from brazil the other argentina i don't think hes going to be a better player than lucas is all im saying, now mata is a different story we should do everything in our power to secure his services and a decent striker

I know what Suarez did at the World Cup was wrong, and it was cheating. But lets not throw stones in glass houses here lads.

Our players cheat by diving. N'Gog has dived, Torres, Gerrard, Kuyt, Lucas, Maxi have all taken dives before, and our very own icon Steven Gerrard condemed diving in 2004 and said it was cheating and needs to be out of the game - and now he's doing it.

Obviously Suarez bit someone and it was more petulant than anything. But our skipper elbowed someone in the face in a club and was in court for assault

All players make mistakes folks, and I'm sure Suarez wouldn't be biting people if he came here.

First time ive bin on since the match, i'd like to say that lucas is winnin me over more an more each time he plays, he, for me was the best player on the pitch last nite

what dya reckon ed? {ed's note - he is without a shadow of a doubt our most improved player and with his attitude I am glad, he deserves it.}
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
MAN OF THE MATCH IN MY OPINION.

couldn't agree more i thought lucas was excellent last night and has impproved no end this season.worked his socks off, gave less fouls away and looked forward quicker and tried to get us moving forward. i like most had had enough of him but i take everything back as he is turning into a proper liverpool player, hard working. skillful with the right attitude.playing alongside him could be the bargain of the season at 11million merielles(spelling) looks and is a quality player don't remember him misplacing a pass all game just need him to bag a goal or two and we have a top top quality player. on the roy debate i like most don't think he is the right man but slowly i can see improvement in the team, the way we are playing and the performance against spurs was probably our best although we lost i thought we played well and to follow that with a 3-0 win against villa shows signs of improvement especially without carra, stevie and torres, so lets give roy a little more backing and see what he can do as i think he is here for the season. next few games will show where we are at and roys mentality we have to go to newcastle win then fulham at home 6 points there and we should be 5th or 6th and putting pressure on those above looking down thinking sh* e liverpool are coming and we might just nick 4th by the end of the season(i know eternal optomist. . . . but why not with a couple of top signings coming in january).

I see people saying that they don't want Liverpool to finish 4th as it would mean Hodgson staying on as manager.

Well I don't agree with that. We want what's best for our club. And if Hodgson got 4th this season do you not think it proves that he would have done a good job and proven his credibility for the job? I'm far from convinced by Hodgson at the moment, but I have seen improvement in the last three games (even though we lost at Spurs, we should have won and sloppy defending cost us, Roy got tactics spot on that day).

And in fall fairness to Roy, he inherited a deflated team who needed major investment. And he's being asked to compete with big spending City and a good Spurs team for 4th.

What I want to see now is improvement and consistency. We have to keep performing like this and see where it takes us.

Really don't understand peoples reasoning for not wanting ronaldinho, of of the greatest players ever to play football, slightly slower and less skillfull than before but he has an amazing natural ability that he will never lose, exactly the kind of player liverpool need to get back up the table and start dominating in europe again.
Honda + Ronaldinho in Jan
Then Shawcross, Coentrao and a Striker next summer. .
Happy Days

Ronaldinho but we have cole to dissapiont us.
shawcross from manure, plus wilson, ayala, kelly all streets ahead of him, id rather RH gave himself a game.

Coentrao won't sign, we have konchesky, aurelio, insua to return, mavinga, robinson, we covered there. even tho id love us to get rid of first two for him.

striker, i think we can all asume we will, just not sure who.

I think its true to say that no one really knows for sure. I don't know a paper delivery boy that is related to an agents second cousin so can't really pass on any rumours of substance, more wishlists to be honest.

{ed's note - I think you need to realise Roy did not sign Wilson, Cole, Jovanovic or Shelvey. He just okayed the deals that were set up without his input.}

Really, The Cole deal was 90% his work and the Jovanovic deal was done in February, so hecan't of okayed it, He played a part in the signings of Wilson and Shelvey; but Ed I respect you but your blinded by hatred for Roy, conveniantly saying the good signings weren't him leaving Konchesky and Pouslen as his work; you should really realise that he has been better than Rafa was this time last year and were higher because the premiership is wide open as every team is inconsistant. You don't want to accept Roy has made good signings and his tactics work.

I have also seen people moan about 442 as its two defensive. and the we want Rafa back. why do you want to play essentially 631, because that is where lucas and masch were playing.

As i said i respect you ed but sometimes your judgment is a bit off; like when you infamously said Roy won't last the weekend, about 2 months ago

Thanks for posting my opineon tho ;) {ed's note - nothing to do with being blinded by hatred for Roy, I don't hate the man at all. The Cole deal was done and dusted before Roy took over, all that had to be done was for Joe himself to sign the contract offered, Roy had no part in that, it was Carra and Gerrard that convinced him to join. Personally I think he is a terrible signing so why would I not want Roy to take credit for him if it was him that did it? Wilson and Shelvey were Kenny signings, the jury has to be still out as to whether they are good signings or not anyway. So I fail to see what you were talking about, Meireles was our best signing of the summer and he was signed by Roy, I am not disputing that am I?}

I can fecking well tell you what we think of that tw@t. Money grabbing, egotistical w@nker who held the club to ransom in the three seasons prior to his 'release', all the time grabbing big money, complaining/ threatening to leave the club because he wanted to win medals AND i quote in one interview he gave to sky after one match when asked about his future "Obviously i do not want to play for a club who only finishes fourth or fifth. . "

Then the w@nker spouts off on the pre season tour in July 2004 that AND again i quote "when A big club comes in for you, you have to be interested"

Sorry you little fecking idiot we are the biggest club in the World bar none. Then when he's shown up big time at Madrid and spends all season trying to fetch the splinters out of his arse off the bench, he wants out, plus Madrid won nothing so his paranoia for wanting medals went into overdrive so he goes and signs for. . . . . . . . . . . NEWCASTLE over us because basically we wouldn't offer him the wages that Newcastle were offering!

I'm not even going to blame Plick Parry for arsing that deal up. It's common knowledge Newcastle offered him £120,000 a week and blew us out of the water. So in the little feckers mind money or medals?

We all knew which one won. Owen will never be anything other than the stereotypical modern day footballer who would rather have money than medals. In fact he reminded me of Winston Bogarde at Chelsea.

You reap what you sow Owen. You've had your come uppance big time and deservedly so. Right i'm really wound up now, one mention of that little w@nker sends me mad!

Well basically yes. that match can be summarised as 45 minutes of excellent play by us and so lucky to not actually lose it in the end because we just came out second half with a defensive mentality. When we are doing that to arsenal, the scum, etc then we can truly say we have turned the corner and are on the way up.

Ed, i'm not from liverpool but have been a massive lfc fan since i can remember. the player that i idolised as a 7 year old was michael owen; he's the reason i'm a red. can you tell me how people regard him in liverpool, and how you view him. to me he's an absolute lfc legend and is never credited for it. it seems people fail to see he was the one of the best strikers in the world at one point and he was still only a teen/ early 20s. what are your thoughts ed, mushroom, chris 1 etc? {ed's note - I am sorry but he is not a legend in my eyes, he forced his way out of the club when he was needed. Worse he spent the years before then constantly throwing hissy fits and expecting everything to go his way, he is the main reason it was decided to get rid of Fowler. Fowler was twice the player Owen was and it was a huge mistake, especially as Owen then ran to Spain for the money, which we all knew was going to happen anyway as it is his true love.}
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
I feel the same to be honest. .owen had all the abilities to be a true star, and i adored him as a player when he was younger, but his overiding ambition was to go wherever the big bucks happened to be.I am realistic enough to accept that footballers are paid professionals and that football is their job. but its still possible to retain a sense of decency, i don't recall kenny or stevie or carragher running for the money.

Have been a Red since birth and would like to have my say on the Lucas and Roy situations.

From day 1 i have been saying Lucas has been getting better and he is playing out of position, my friends would disagree but one thing they agree'd with is that he has the heart and desire to be a top class player.

Last season I feel he was one of our greatest players, he missed like one premiership match last year and was a key member of our team; yet not many other fans noticed his contribution. Personally, I thought he was slightly better than Mascherano as he tried harder and didn't throw reckless challenges in.

No this season you can see his inner qualities with going forward, but after two years of learner he is more EPL experienced and knows when he should stay back for the counter and his passes were always his fault in my eyes but as he showed with the Babel chipped through ball he has improved vastly, he isn't even 25 and he is very experienced and improving every day.

Roy, at first he got off shaky, but i said give him three years as he has a plan. Remember he had liturally no financial support in the summer and look at who HE brought in, Wilson; an up and coming centre back who is a class act. Shelvey, another young player who everyone on this forum thinks is amazing and shoudl start, I disagree and he needs more time to develop, E.G Europa and FA cups. Meireles, has a stupid bald haircut and each week he is getting more dominant and influential in games, he has cleared he ball of the line 3 times already whih shows his awareness and he loves a good tackle, plus he has rocket shoes and nearly killed salgado vs Blackburn. Cole, skillful and talented but injury prone, world beater on his day but he hasn't had enough time to adjust to Anfield life. Konchesky and Aurelio; ok there both not world class but Konchesky has been alright this season but has made mistakes which hopefully should be erased from his game, Aurelio is always been solid but he is old and slow, both aren't for the future but that is why Insua is getting match fitness, he's fitter and gaining first team experiance. Poulsen, Well the worst singing but he was a quick appointment as we needed a holding player and Roy didn't think before the purchase, although he has said in interviews he is trying to adjust and wants to impress the crowd; and he feels the tension and that isn't good enough.

The squad had major changes from the Rafa to thr Roy regime, and we can now see why he did well early in his career; the tried and tested tactics.

Ed, please post this as I would like everyones opineons on my points.

Thanks {ed's note - I think you need to realise Roy did not sign Wilson, Cole, Jovanovic or Shelvey. He just okayed the deals that were set up without his input.}

Players can turn it around, give Suarez his due. There have been many players in the past who turned themselves around, in terms of attitude, when they have moved clubs, under a different form of man management. Andy Carrol has shown that since acquiring the no.9 shirt.
I believe that Suarez, Ronaldinho and Honda would greatly improve our team, a proven goalscorer, and two attack minded midfielders, everyone on here has asked for a stiker and wingers, there they are, why can't you accept that these players would help us?

Uccm have u been in full support of hodgson and Lucas as long as they have been at Liverpool? Just cus we have won a few games there the dogs bollocks all of a sudden. It was probably only after the spurs game people were still wanting woy out.

Ok first of lucas has been improving for 18 months now, Secondly Roy is by no means the best manager in the world but he still is better than alot of other options that were available.

In Rafa's first season we won the CL great right, well what about us finishing 5th in the league that year to EVERTON of all teams, Yet Rafa brought fantastic players (Torres, Xabi, Reina, Garcia, Agger, Mascherano), And he has brought great staff to liverpool (Borrel, Ayestaran, Di Miguel, Segura, Marcia, DALGLISH). So give Roy time to prove he is either good enough or not.

And the fact that you call him WOY your obviously a young child, If not you should be ashamed of yourself, No self respecting adult would insult somebody because they speak differently.

So go grow up.

Ok the whole saurez thing is geting crazy now. Get off his back cause he may be a lfc player soon and if he starts banging in the goals, how many will be booing him.
Ok he has a bit of a history of onfield bad behavior, but i prefer that than the offfield stuff from that lad from newcastle, and the handball thing in world cup it happens all the time in football , even at liverpool.
He is no angel that's for sure but lets just let it go for now and see what happens.

P.s On a lighter note, with his onfield street fighting capability and passion he may just make it in the prem

Ed, i'm not from liverpool but have been a massive lfc fan since i can remember. the player that i idolised as a 7 year old was michael owen; he's the reason i'm a red. can you tell me how people regard him in liverpool, and how you view him. to me he's an absolute lfc legend and is never credited for it. it seems people fail to see he was the one of the best strikers in the world at one point and he was still only a teen/ early 20s. what are your thoughts ed, mushroom, chris 1 etc? {ed's note - I am sorry but he is not a legend in my eyes, he forced his way out of the club when he was needed. Worse he spent the years before then constantly throwing hissy fits and expecting everything to go his way, he is the main reason it was decided to get rid of Fowler. Fowler was twice the player Owen was and it was a huge mistake, especially as Owen then ran to Spain for the money, which we all knew was going to happen anyway as it is his true love.}

in my opinion i would welcome a return to standing up at the game, no fans were ever in danger watching football standing on the kop i have watched liverpool in cup games and stood on terraces and loads of european away games, since 1989 also every fan stands up at away games anyway, like a lot of fans i was at hillsborough and heysel and they were not caused by standing up to watch the game, we ALL know the real storey, all those who so sadly lost there lives at hillsborough would if things were different be still standing on the kop every other week, i don't think its disrespectful to those who lost there lives, what do you think ED, BOB PAISLEYS SKIDS {ed's note - not for me mate, many people have got badly hurt because of the terraces. YES
i know and agree that's true, i have watched liverpool since 1968 and agree if you were unlucky you could get hurt but i never got injured and can't recall any of my mates being hurt, before the kop went all seater it only held 11 or 12 thousand it was almost a third empty so i think you going back to your grandads day is unfounded in 2010 health and safety would never allow anything like the 24,000 or so in the kop again it would be interesting to find out how active the st johns ambulance men were in the last couple of seasons on the kop i bet they were able to watch the game in peace, bob paisleys skids

I don't know why people judge suarez with the handball, he was on the line, he used his hand and he saved the team and he got his punishment. this happened many times. if Gyan used his chance it wouldn't be a big deal. assume that you are him, penalty given against you at the very last minute of extra time, you think your out then somebody misses the chance and puts you back in the game, ofcaurse you want to jump around all over the place. the bitting is obviously horrible and wrong, but it aint worse than elbowing purposly or the head but or Keane's intentional tackles or all those stupid tackles that broke legs. for me suarez is an excellent quality player who gives 100% to his team and has a bit of problem with temper. i will welcome him with to liverpool with both hands wide open.

On the Suarez debate - he bit an opponent, yes. But what the English media didn't pick up on was that the guy he bit kept slamming his feet with the studs on his boots while the ref wasn't looking. Thats bloody painful! The third time he did it, no-one noticed again and Suarez snapped! As for the World Cup handball - of course he saved it! but he got punished for it. I recall his team-mates and manager saying they'd have killed him if he didn't put an arm out - oh and he celebrated when Gyan missed! of course he bloody did! Its the bloody World Cup! Anyhoo, I'd love him to sign, fantastic player, I suppose the knee-jerk who said he's 'not worthy to wear the shirt' thinks Zidane wasn't either! Such a victim of media sensationalism. . .seems they're everywhere these days. Whats with the Suarez-bashing these days?!

i have not seen 1 valid point in your post, yes getting stamped on is painfull AND, dosnt mean you can bite someone THATS ASSAULT, he should have been cautioned by the police, and the world cup handball this is ur worst bit, ghana used FOOTBALL to create that chance they broke uraguay down and deserved to score and win, Whats the point in COMPETITION if we are allowed to cheat when things arnt going are way, and he is a good player but he is a DISGRACE to the game, zidane had a MOMENT of madness suarez has a CAREER of madness, and those so called knee jerk fans, well these incidents happened while ago so its not knee jerk, and there are MORE against him than for him.

So to summarise your post like suarez has too many flaws.

Personally I'd really only want a winger and maybe a supporting striker during january. I would love to get Hazard/ A. Johnson but realistically we will probably get Honda, which is still not that bad. For a striker, we'd either just use Honda there or we could try to sign someone that is very proven and young like Benzema (which seems very unlikely). So basically, I'd be content with just Honda, we don't really need anyone else this transfer window. During the summer we can make some more major moves for defenders and midfielders, Lucas, Meireles and Gerrard are doing well enough and if we have injuries to them, Roy should put some of the youngsters in (Shelvey, Suso) for experience. same goes with the forwards, I'd love to see Pacheco and Eccleston get some games in the prem for experience. what do you think ed?

If NESV want to make a statement about their intentions to win, we need to sign someone like Llorente. Bilbao won't get 30m for him, but if we make a substantial offer of around 20m it might be enough considering their financial problems. It might be the investment NESV must make to show the fans they weren't kidding when they said they want to win.

Signing guys like Honda is great but he is not the type of player that will score 20+ goals a season and provide genuine backup and partnership for Torres. Can you imagine Torres & Llorente up front for Liverpool? Imagine the weight lifted off Nando's shoulders knowing he has a guy like that up with him scoring goals. Not to mention what it would be like for him having his Spanish teammate with him.

Remember guys, NESV have stated all along that they want to WIN. We have "superstars" in Torres & Gerrard but we need at least 2-3 more of that caliber to win anything. There is no point signing more mid-range strikers when we already have so many like Babel, Kuyt, Ngog, Cole, Maxi. We need a couple genuine world class players if NESV want to win trophy's.

In recent times the world class quality players have been on their way out rather then in, ie. Alonso, Mascherano. It's time to change that and take some pressure off Gerrard and Torres.

Signing someone like Carlton Cole will be a backwards step and guys like that are not winners.

buying honda would be a big statement of intent to win, , , honda is an excellent player, , hes an attacking midfielder, and can play along side torres, , look at ronaldo with rooney they were great together, , ronaldo was an attacking mid rooney striker and ronaldo could play striker too, , same as messi that is the kind of player honda is he can also hit the back of the net from 30 yards out, , , honda we can probably get for £16 mill, , and llorente for around the same maybe little more, , that would be 2 great signings for £32-36 million

Ed do you think that with gerrard returning against newcastle that roy would still use 442 coz i can't see roy having guts to drop gerrard in favour of the growing partnership of lucas and meireles, which reminds me of another thing, you said the best chance of us signing anyone from valencia was banega and pablo hernandez. Wouldn't signing banega hamper the chances of the likes of lucas and shelvey? and any latest info on honda?

VM YNWA {ed's note - I expect Roy to drop one of Babel and Ngog to make way for Torres and one of Lucas and Meireles to make way for Gerrard to be honest. Unless he drops Kuyt and shifts Meireles back to the right, maybe. I didn't say we should sign Banega, good player that he is, central midfield is not the priority right now.}

Logic

1. Seems logical that. . .while Newcastle bleeds, sorry Geordies hate to see such a silly move, we should swoop for Carrol and Taylor.

2. Seems logical that. . we should try to get Benzema on loan, because he is not starting and as far as my simple mind can calculate, there is no possible way Madrid and Liverpool will play this season, THUS, why would Madrid baulk at sending a talented player to torment the likes of Spurs, Arsenal, Chelsea and the Mancs?

3. Seems logical that. . .we should buy Hazard because he is really good.

I am sure none of these will happen

It is such a pity that form was not there in the early part of the season , just a few better results could have made an incredible difference to the league table , Roy Hodgson seems to be going about it the right way now , we have to keep the faith and hopefully the teams above us will continue to have an indifferent season whilst LFC put inconsistency in the past .

OK so earlier in the season we were in the bottom three, losing some of our young and old talent. Now were are 10 points off top spot. Thats better than we were last season at this stage. Maybe we should just stop slating Roy and let the team just get on with it. With our support the team can bond easier and players will feel welcome. I can see next season going one of two ways, either we do really well, or we do really well. CMON MIGHTY REDS :)

Roy Hodgson has to prove his Away form during his pre LFC career counts for nothing now that he has the LFC job , hopefully 4-4-2 will make it happen , if he starts to get the away results we need we can stop worrying about what he has done in his previous jobs and start to give some credible praise .

LFC have to keep winnning games now , LFC have to start winning Away from home , LFC have got to make sure that they keep improving their form , I back Roy Hodgson to turn the season around big time , the results required to prove all the critics wrong are just waiting for a good LFC 4-4-2 'Pass and move , the Liverpool groove' team to take , and LFC can still win the Europa League and the FA Cup .
