everyday I come onto the site and read about persie joining us I really do not see where all the the hype is I don,t really thnk he is that good and he is not exactly lighting the world up is he? hibsylfc {Ed009's Note - He has a pretty good scoring record when fit. In fact in the last 3 seasons he has scored 30 goals in 47 PL experiences. The problem with the player is his ridiculous shortage of appearances due to injury prone nature.}

You will not be getting van persie

We don't want him.

Would be better than what's on offer up their at the moment, but he still ain't going to your mob

hi ed002 i have a question please when you say a player is lightweight do you literally mean in weight or moves, and explain in football terms what difference does it make if you are. thankyou hibsylfc {Ed009's Note - I am not so sure Ed002 is around right now. The question confuses me a little, but if am am right in what you are asking then this is my answer: a player being lightweight refers to their frame and strength. Naturally this means that you are regularly pushed off the ball, especially in a league as rigorous as the Premier League. In the past players such as this were an extremely rare breed but, due to the hardening of the rules, they have become more and more prevalent and successful in spite of said disadvantage. David Silva, Luka Modric are examples of such players.}

Thanks for the explanation as this term was driving me nuts I never really understood what they meant by it till now thanks again.hibsylfc

Others originally viewed as light are Modric, Mata, Meireles, Muniain, Montolivo, Messi and pretty much any player beggining with M - other than Macherano!

Lightweight was the way I used to think about Ngog too- he didnt seem to be able to use that big frame very well.
Enrique is a player who I think is a good example of definitely not lightweight.
But it doesnt always seem to depend on their size- sometimes the smaller or lighter guys can really hold their own if they use their body weight etc- look at Masch for example.

Some people sald that Gionfranco Zola would've been too ligtweight. But he turned out just fine, what a great player he was.

Blair Mayne YNWA

We at LFC seem to be a little obsessed with this 'lightweight' theme and do not seem to be moving with the times. Smaller, quicker, creative players are in all the top teams except ours. Gone are the days of tough tackling so I do not see the need for big brutes anymore.

We also have an obsession with untalented yet hardworking players with little or no flair or creativity.

I agree with the poster above. We are sorely in need of a "number 10" style player. I remember Torres once said we were lacking a "small, creative type player" to be fair, he was and still is right. They are a rare breed and there aren't many around which is why they cost a fortune a la Modric.

Club or International football?

Believable - Club Football

Unbelievable - International Football

maka

Depends on who you follow. Being Irish and being a LFC fan I say club football all day long. Especially after watching that crap last night against Andorra

Corkpoolred

No contest players see it that way to (eng) mainly,so called smaller countries try harder now because they have that margin of hope with having a few players of there own in europe they've never had it before so it means more to them,i know this sounds mad but rooney getting sent off might be strategic and not for england.

we are now being strongly linked to griezman, what do you all think? hibsylfc

He is a fantastic talent, but he is not english and will be deemed by us to be too lightweight for the EPL.....

I would buy him tomorrow. Think he will go to a bigger club in La Liga though.

I thought the two wingers this summer would have been Mata/downing along with one of either Alex oxlade chamberlain or Greizmann. Must say Greizmann is quite a talent, i'd love him any day at Liverpool but now he is most likely to end up at Atletico. Or any other top La liga side. Liverpool doesn't seem to be interested.

The best player to have never won a league title. I really feel sorry for him and hope we can win one before he retires. He could of easily moved and enjoyed more sucess but thank god he'd rather earn his place in history than given it.

Where does every one feel he comes in a list of greatest players ever to wear the red shirt

One of the reasons that i dislike the national side is the treatment of Steven Gerrard by capello when he left him on in one game and got injured. Plus i find very hard to watch England with an Italian manager. Plus club footie is so much more important. Also capello had no right in slagging Carroll off in the media should of been done behond closed doors.

At the moment i would rather have a Uruguay top with Suarez rather than an just a plain England top. All i care about is Liverpool players being fit and beating the mancs next sat.

hey ed..
i heard some chatter a while back about Robbie Keane coming back but then ed001 shot them down saying he would never play for Liverpool again due to the circumstances of his exit.
Could u elaborate as to why Kenny wanted him out?

S.G.L. {Ed001's Note - Kenny wasn't the man who wanted him out, but the circumstances were revolving around his off field activities, the same ones that have destroyed his career. I really can't say any more, there are legal difficulties involved, I am trying to think how I can hint at it without saying it. That is why he only lasted 6 months, also why he rarely played, it had been brought to Rafa's attention. It was a surprise he wasn't on that Dispatches program the other week.....}

..
Holy cow.. the secrecy is killing me!

Is it to do also with a certain WC winner we had or rather somebody intimate with the said midfielder?
Scouse Pride

He took running up n down the lines to a whole new level.... HERBIE(MUFC)

I think working under Rafa could drive you too that.

Surely spurs must have also been aware of these obvious but still unknown off field activities, and if so why did they buy hiim back?? did Liverpool threaten to take them to court because of breach of the sales of goods act? (Items sold not fit for purpose)

07 Oct 2011 21:51:13
Hey ed..
why does every Liverpool fan hate England's national team?
S.G.L.
{Ed009's Note - I don't. I find International football distinctly boring overall, the big competitions aside. But when I watch England in one of them I still want us to win as much as I do Liverpool.}

England ?
It's over-paid, over-ego'd Chelchester mate.
The Real KB

I used to enjoy watching England and always wanted them to win whichever tournament they were playing in, I still want them to win but it doesn't mean anywhere near as much as it does to see Liverpool win. All the players give it the biggun once we have qualified for a finals but then end up bottling it as soon as we get there. If you look at Englands record in major tournaments since 66 we always get knocked out as soon as we meet a high ranked team such as Germany, Brazil or Argentina etc. England never seem able to dig a result out, backs against the wall for wall for 90-minutes and nick a goal.

JRG

Dont think its just English fans with England im from Ireland and its only Liverpool i really give a s**t about

Would it mean as much if they lifted the world cup. think it would to me!
craig

I hate internationals I'm actually just gutted a Liverpool player didn't get sent off so they can have some rest, I've got not football this weekend because of that tonight, hate hate internationals.

I'd rather Liverpool won the Carling cup than England win the euros. International football is so boring I can only manage to watch 10 minutes before turning over.

It's not Internationals I hate. If England actually played an exciting brand of football, I would love it but our internationals remind me of the Europa League. Boring and nobody really wants to be there. I think if we employed an attacking minded coach, it would be more interesting. Of course, winning the World Cup would be out of this world though!

In my eyes and i think i speak for a lot of reds that England and international football is not important. The most important thing is that all Liverpool players are fit and healthy ready for next sat. In my eyes Liverpool are bigger and better than anything else which includes England.

Im sorry but i totally disagree with you i could not be prouder as a player or a fan for england to win a major competition i just wish the players would participate on the required level to achieve sucess

i don't get why everyone moanes about capello's selection. firstly, i'd rather have the players healthy against united and secondly, who says he knows how to pick a winning team? anyone remembering the european cup?

Nice to see Suarez scoring within 3 minutes for country, will need goal scoring form against united...

07 Oct 2011 20:12:10
To be honest i couldnt careless whether any Liverpool players play for England as long as they are fit for Liverpool. We will always be bigger than England.

Mighty reds.

Don't be such a k.nob

I once dared to use the word 'idiot' in one of my posts, only to the word censored. How is calling someone a k.nob any more acceptable? I totally agree with Mighty Reds, byt the way.

Looking forward to LFC vs. Man U. I think we need to get off to a quick start or else suffer same fate as Tottenham game. If I were Kenny I would play a 5-3-2. Defensive, but we'll need it with Johnson at RB, who offers little on the defensive end.
Johnson/Carragher/Skrtel/Coates/Enrique
Stevie/Lucas/Downing across the middle with Suarez/Bellamy up front.

5 at the back can hold United's snipers and with speed up front we can respond quickly on counterattacks.

I am sure this is not what Kenny will do. I suspect he will play same lineup that played Everton (unless Stevie is slotted in ). Unfortunately, I see Adam getting toasted in mid-field, and Carroll getting no service if we stick we same lineup.

Red Barron

I think we don't need to be too defensive. Put Stevie G & Bellamy in place of Kuyt & Adam. The same line-up as against the Blue Shi...t. Do think if Adam starts with Lucas in a two man midfield will get tormented by Anderson & Cleverly. But it might work out if we keep Andy on the bench & play a 4-3-3 with Adam Lucas & Hendo in midfield, Downing, Suarez & Bellamy upfront if Stevie G is not starting. The Key will be whether Stevie G starts or not.

I can tell you what I am frustrated about, Martin Kelly knocks spots off Jones but potatoe heads been given the nod at right back.

I don't understand why Kelly hasn't been given his first cap yet, the lads class.

Is there something about potatoe heads and England. Cappello, Rooney, Terry and now Jones.

Phil Jones has astonishingly good hair, back combed, a little long at the back, and streaked - similar to our best ever full back Barry Venison ( a signed picture of whom watches over me when I take an early morning sit down )

BOILED ONIONS

Think walker is the best of the lot of em

Why do people rate walker so highly? he is so definsively inept, his only fortune is his pace to make up for it. everyone in the media is just getting a hard on because he scored a 'screamer', it was terrible goalkeeping

Yeah, I also don't understand why everyone rates Walker so highly. They say one his best attributes is speed, Kelly has that and a wonderful crossing ability, should've gotten his cap last night.

RenegadeRed

I'd rather Kelly didn't play and was fit to play for Liverpool. That said he is better than Smalling and Jones by miles. I feel sorry for Johnson as he gets so much stick for his defending when he basically is a right sided Ashley Cole. Yet he gets boasted around as the best left back in the world.

Can't watch the national team play the national game on terrestial free tv tonight.
What a joke that is.
I mean, I'm not that bothered by Ingerlund but it beats Eastenders and Celebrity Masterchef for an hour or two.
The Real KB {Ed001's Note - personally I couldn't give a toss about internationals, I mostly use the international period as a break from football myself. Though this weekend I will be working hard, playing FM12 ready to write a review of it next week. It is a hard job, but someone has to do it ;o)}

What a hard job ed. maybe we should swap. im at university doing my mathematics degree and sinking like a brick.

Yes Ingureland just about sums it up KB. I can't be done with it either. I've actually give in to the bride so she can watch her soaps. I have no interest in Rooney and co.

Whilst I'm annoyed potatoe head Jones has been given the nod at right back before Martin kelly, I'd rather our lads had nothing to do with the set up.

Thats just as well as Downing was utter tripe when he came on.

Ahoy - I was speaking today to a chap "involved" with Blackpool but to name him would be unfair - so keep this between us - his surname starts with Oy and ends in Ston.

Basically they are very pleased with Jonjo S and were impressed how much we wanted him to go to Blackpool to play regular football.

My un-named contact also said you can tell he his destined to perform at the top level similar to when they took an unknown Bluenose fullback Seamus Coleman on loan at Xmas in their promotion year. Natural talent shines.

So good work LFC - get him playing regularly, in a tough and competitive league - and hopefully under pressure if Blackpool push for promotion.

I was told that the loan would be extended beyond 28th December depending on injuries at LFC and league position of Blackpool.

He will come back a better player - hope the sea air doesn't make him look any older

Also - Wayne Rooney has already apologised for getting sent off in the 32nd minute tonight.

BOILED ONIONS

Did you discuss with him about how he would like Adam back on loan?

Unfortunately not - but he is so dedicated to HIS club that the Directors Dividend will ironically be exactly the same as the Net profit less salaries and feesfrom Mr C Adam plus the first parachute payment from relegation.

It could have been so good for Blackppol but directors personal greed has stifled them.

I think the money made from Charlie Adam has funded SpongeBob World at the Pleasure Beach

Cant believe we missed this lad Green.

"the kid he will define the future of the game" D Maradona

"to have every virtue at the youngest of ages and yet the capacity to grow that makes him world class" J Mourinho

"Green? we must be carefull patient but yes also very excited" F Capelo

"talent supremme talent is one thing but this is a gift from the Gods, Green is not Messi he may be more" P Guardiola

"the artist is not limited by age or experience he only limits himself the externals cannot! Green will show us how the game should WILL BE PLAYED" J Cryuff

How did we miss this seems he is a sensation!

Get Real

If the reports of us turning him down for being too lightweight are true, I would be very disappointed with our scouting team. No longer can that be reason if we have players like Silva playing for us and it shows we (and others) still value strength and power over technique and skill. Some of the best players in the world are 'lightweight'.

Ash

Seems Green turned us down due to his treatment at an early trial. Greens mother was wearing a blue blouse and one of the scouts kept bantering him and her about being bluenoses and he got pretty vicious. The young lad was annoyed and said no way would he join.

EA have already paid him image rights as they want him Rooney and Wilshere on the cover of FIFA 13.

Seems this kid is a big deal!

Get Real

Barca, Real, utd, city, the milans, juve, bayern and a whole lot more also "missed out" as you put it.

At that age there is no guarantee he will even be good enough for any top team. Freddy Adu was going to be a superstar remember? You could argue Joe cole didn't live up to the hype.

The fkipside

Dont worry mate Everton will stump his growth he'll end up in a 2nd division team

Mate either you've made up those quotes or someone else has and had you off! Can't find them anywhere online expect this site!

And getreal what's your source on the EA image rights thing? I think you're talking nonsense personally. Kieran. (The above post about the quotes is also mine - forgot to sign off.)

And what did you lot end up with....Adam!LoL

ESPN done a feature docu on FOOTBALLS RISING STAR GREEN. Watch it all the quotes are there and even an interview with EA publicist. The Kid is massive and already huge in America due largely to his hair colour.

Probably the original poster is just being sarcastic and tryin to show all d moaners their place...i mean come on!! cryuff sayin this abt 14 yr old kid is impossible...ever...or he wud have been in some national team already

WHEN WILL HE BE LEAVING THE FEEDER CLUB AND JOINING UNITED?

07 Oct 2011 17:35:16
Just to demonstrate the options we have the below is a very interesting formation that utilises players abilities very well in my opinion, it gives Adam the time to distribute the ball and it kind of replicates his position at Blackpool as the lowest in a middle 3. It also allows Johnson and Enrique to bomb forward and with Suarez and Carroll moving all over and particularly wide it gives Gerrard and Bellamy space to cause direct damage. I am sure this formation was used at one stage last year but I cant remember who it was against but Maxi was in Bellas position.

------------Reina-------------

------Kelly-Carra-Agger------

Johnson----Adam------Enrique

-------Gerrard-Bellamy-------

-Suarez--------------Carroll-

No Lucas? Are you nuts?!

when carragher retires in about a year or two i think lfc should go for mats hummels hes a decent defender and hes young

I just cant see anything other than a win for us against the mancs, i just think there defence is so bad and their midfield to lightweight to deal with us.

Vidic should be back for them, so I expect more of a solid back-line than against Norwich, but I still expect a win nonetheless. Gerrard to score!

Looking forward to seeing Carragher and his shell suit disappear up his own apse when Rooney and Hernandez turn him inside out, or perhaps we will get lucky and you will play Coates, milk turns quicker than that muppet.

Lets hope so mate, finally a bit of optimism on here. The lads will have to up their game from last week like but that should be no problem, if they can't get pumped up for a game against United they're at the wrong club.

Hey Ed's.

Just wondering if any of you could help me out... Is Enrique in the Spanish national squad?

Thanks, James. {Ed001's Note - nope.}

Why not? {Ed009's Note - Because they decided not to pick him.}

07 Oct 2011 15:46:41
Lads, the LFC facebook page has sparked the debate again: who to pick at right back? Personally I prefer Kelly, he is a top class defender who won't give away silly free kicks unlike Johnson and Flanagan, who is simply too inexperienced. Could be one for the future though. Johnson is just too attack minded and doesn't have the defensive qualities to balance both attack and defence, which leads to silly fouls being made and free kicks given away. Playing him on the wing is an option though. Kelly is decent at attacking play, but there is plenty of room for improvement though.

Well lads what do you think, with the mancs a week away?

Keith YNWA

Like to see them both play kelly rb johnson rw could work johnson is very good going forward

I really, really hope Johnson is fit and starts next week at right back. His second-rate defending and positioning wouldn't look out of place in this current Liverpool back line.

Matthew...

Bit like United's defence, Norwich turned them inside out very easily, but failed to score, Utd were very lucky, a better team would have knocked 4 past them on that day.
Come on the reds smash Man Utd

Matthew,

You obviously have no clue about Johnson, just preconceived perceptions of the player. When he played at left back it allowed him to concentrate on his defending, as has working with Clarke. when he played at right back towards the end of last season he was solid defensively and improved immensely in his positional sense... His pace allows him to cover our CB's ... next thing you'll tell me is Valencia is the new Cafu!!

actually I'm wasting my time.... you should try forming your own opinions based on what you've seen recently.

Richards

Agree mate, check stats he won 73% LB and 74% RB of tackles

Doesnt matter who plays. Probably get sent off.

07 Oct 2011 15:23:40
Ed have you heard if we have made any progress on signing the french youngster Niang as yet? I believe there was some contractual issues and that at present hes too young to move now, but are we monitoring this or even negotiating a deal?

Jonesred {Ed002's Note - I don't believe Liverpool have made any approach formally.}

07 Oct 2011 15:18:57
Ed can you see us trying to bring Lavezzi in from Napoli in January or even the summer?
{Ed002's Note - No.}

Rather Have Cavani to be honest

07 Oct 2011 15:17:57
Ed do you know how the two kids we signed are doing? The Mexican Bueno. And the Irish kid O Hanlon. {Ed002's Note - I don't know what happened with Bueno or even if he did sign in the end. O'Hanlon is very young and I am not sure if he is not completing his schooling first.}

07 Oct 2011 14:12:05
look the carroll price tag is irrelivant. everyone has too high expectations of him, he is 23 had a few months with newcastle and got 10+ goals then got injured. he is for the long term and we need to stop being harsh to carroll. the media and everyone is on his back and if he is under pressure he will not play as well, we need to lay off him

The Carroll price tag is completely relevant. At the end of the season, you could have bought Falcao from Porto for similar money. A far far superior player. Your manager made a huge mistake, just like with Henderson, Adam and Dowling! {Ed002's Note - You are being completely naive. There was no interest in him from Liverpool and what makes you think Falcao would make such a move if there were?}

To be honest i WOULD HAVE PREFERRED FALCAO rather than Carroll, pretty sure he won't turn down us if we had make an offer for him. Athletico Madrid is also not in UCL and Liverpool is far by the better club with the start of a new mega project in place & English Premier League Football. Just Imagine Suarez & Falacao upfront they will ran riot.

But what is done is done, we have no choice now, just have to support Carroll & beck him to score goals. He is a young lad & he will surely improve his game as he matures. Andy don't have anything to do with the price tag Liverpool has to take the blame If Carroll fails to deliver.

Chopman

Suarez n Falcao!
We cud put 5 past the mancs with that partnership.
Indian Buzzer

To be honest I'd rather have Carroll. Falcao is great but I think if Carroll can find his form he'll be just as great. Rooney and Torres lost their form for a very long time, but did that make them utter crap? No they were still top class strikers. Give Carroll time to prove how good he is and trust Kennys judgement on him.

So we have turned away this George Green kid who has signed for Everton ?
Didn't we also turn away Wayne Rooney and Tom Cleverly when they were younger ?
Our youth system needs looking at a bit doesn't it !
We are bigger and better club than everton but yet they produce young player's of world class potential Wyne Rooney, Jack Rodwell, Ross Barkley and now they have spotted this George Green kid !
They will probably sell all of them in a few years but it's not the point ! We haven't produced anyone exciting since Carra and Stevie G, im optimistic about Spearing but not sure. Rather produce young scouser's than spend 20 Mill on Henderson, we could of spent 20 million on Mata or someone else and bought a youth player through for free if our youth scouts were better !?

{Ed002's Note - This is simply a mixture paranoia and jealousy. So Liverpool don't sign some 14 year old kid - suck it up.}

Is the kid O Hanlon if that's his correct name playing yet? I think he's a left back - I know he's Irish, just wondering?

Oh yea message above. At least we can go out and spend money on player's if they're not good enough coming through but all I can say for now is Sterling, Morgan, Flanagan, Robinson, Kelly and Coady. Just relax man! All that matters is trophies coming into Liverpool Football Club not passports of players!

Corkpoolred

Lol- Who said Ross Barkley, Jack Rodwell are world class, they are way off from becoming World class! Apart from Wayne Rooney their academy has produced nothing special in the last couple of years.

Wonder how you would have reacted if Alex Ferguson had signed Henderson. I remember a time last season when all the press were praising Jordan and some Journos even agreed with Steve Bruce that the kid is worth at least 20 million.
Just to tell ya we didn't pay 20million we paid 16M for him as far as i know. The lad is still young it's too early to judge him may be two or three seasons later we can have our say in him.

Well done to George Green
You have made a footballing decision after sampling the atmosphere and ambience around our great club
Shoul you fulfill your potential you will be a very wealthy man
You have already won over all Evertonians with your "I'd rather stay at Bradford than go to Liverpool" comment
Well done Moysie and up yours harry!

In the words of the great man......
Well done lad. You'll be playing near a great team.

Hi Ed

I read in the liverpool echo that George Green had a trial at Liverpool before his move to Everton. Do you know what happened because reports say that he didnt like it and he would never have signed for Liverpool?

Any Idea?

Thanks {Ed002's Note - I am not up on kids football at all but in respect of this kid I was told it was because Liverpool had initially turned him down as being too lightweight. Rather like Chelsea did with Christian Eriksen (twice).}

Just to remind everyone that it took Gomez quite some time (actually a whole season ) to fully hit full potential at Bayern despite having only played in the German League. We need to give these players time and they will gell and be on top form.
Though am not English, but the advantage of buying over priced english players is that you are sure they will be there (stay at the club) when you need them most. Check our Barcelona, the core of their players are spanish while the core of Man Utd palyers are english.
I belive we'll get there with time. Wales

Completely agree.
Once the players we have settle in, we will have a fantastic squad that will play well as a team and score many goals. These things take time but when it clicks the opposition will know about it.
Come on everyone, let's all get behind the team and show our support. Let's show the world why we're the best supporters in the world.

Any reason why my Van Persie story didnt make it on to the rumour page. 100% Genuine {Ed001's Note - no idea, I didn't deal with it, but if it was yet another one about him joining us, it has been floating around ages.}

He will go to City

Morning all,
I've just caught up with the Daily Mirror article from yesterday about FSG narrowing down 3 x potential naming rights partners.
What's the eds / posters opinions on this - does this automatically mean that a new stadium is likely ?
Or that naming rights could still be involved in a redevelopment of Anfield ?
I personally still wouldn't rule out the latter.
But even I, as a sceptic of the financial viability of a new stadium at this time, am thinking twice that maybe FSG are gonna be very bold and go for it.
Fair play to them if that's the case.
The Real KB {Ed001's Note - it is just common sense to fully explore both options and to do that you need to find out exactly how much you are likely to get from naming rights. FSG favour a refurb of Anfield, so the numbers would have to be much better to go down the new stadium route.}

It's probably true to say that the Council would prefer a new stadium, is that so ed ?
I wonder to what extent they could influence matters. LFC are a major income creator for the city, but its also a fact that the Anfield area has been let to run down in lieu of a new stadium eventually being built. So LFC do owe that to the community.
The Real KB {Ed002's Note - What the Council want should be irrelevant. If the club could improve infrastructure as part of what is being done they will be happy. The planning regulations are the hinderance to expanding Anfield as I understand matters. Any new design and build would likely take something four years to have approved and implemented - so it would be some while before the club were in playing there.}

The owners and ian ayre recent comments have all hinted towards a new build due to the problems surrounding the redevelopment of Anfield and have mentioned that talks over naming rights were ongoing.Lets hope if it is true we narrowed it down to 3 then a new stadium could be anounced quite soon
TED

Go on then ed002, do us the old style comparison :
likelihood (in your opinion) out of ten of
a, redevelopment
b, new stadium
The Real KB {Ed002's Note - There are five options as I see it: (1) New build to an existing “approved” design commissioned by the previous owners. This has the benefit of being the quickest and most economic way forward as far as a new build goes and I recall the fans being impressed with the designs. (2) New build to the design of an existing stadium (e.g. the Allianz Arena). This would save considerably on architects fees but may prove problematic in other areas – but may be more viable than folks realise. (3) New build to a completely new design. It will cost considerably more and take much longer to go down this route. This has to be a high-risk option. (4) Redevelopment of Anfield to add 12-15k seats that FSG would like to see. Economically this would seem to be the option that would give the best return on investment, but this is the option that is hampered by local planning regulations. My feeling is that this is seemingly the option that most fans would prefer. (5) A phased improvement and redevelopment of Anfield to bring the stadium up to code and to perhaps add some additional seating. This would provide a medium term solution that only moves the real issue to the right, but it would possibly facilitate the inclusion of the full quota of additional seating at a later date.
My assumption was always that any naming right deal would be for a new build and not for a redeveloped Anfield. I don't know if anything has changed in respect of that. I also don't know if FSG are actively trying to find a way to overcome planning regulation restrictions that would allow them to eventually add the additional seating at Anfield that they desire. Building a new stadium is going to mean a very large loan being taken on and even though sponsorship will cover much of the cost year on year, it can possibly be seen as an albatross that FSG may not want hanging around their neck.
My own view at this time is that the club will look at a phased improvement of Anfield hoping that a way can be found to add the additional seating in the not too distant future. It would be wrong of me to suggest any potential "out of ten" scores for these options, but there are certainly (at least in my view) more than just two options.}

That's really interesting ed002. I thank you very much for your time and thoughts there. I can't wait for all to be finally revealed.
The Real KB

Liverpool need more bums on seats to bring in much needed cash.
Redevelopment would be the quickest way,if this landlady wins her second round in the high courts,surly Sky would pull the plug on the fa or reduce the money to show football games, that would be millions lost to a lot of clubs.
Redeyedhector {Ed002's Note - The "landlady" situation is a bit of a red herring I am afraid. I suspect the convoluted end to the saga will be that she cannot show EPL games due to imaging rights and copyrights – related to the various logos etc and not the games themselves. It will prove an interesting twist when they arrive at this no doubt.}

It's a tough one to call Ed,a lot of pubs show football not using Sky,until this is sorted one way or the other,Sky and the fa must be worried.
Redeyedhector {Ed002's Note - If they are showing EPL games broadcast by a foreign operator they are doing so illegally due to, as I say image rights and copyright - but not of the game. The point won was a point of law regarding the provision of service, that is all. Sky are not going to be quaking in their boots just yet.}

Back to the stadium issue !
If you were a hard-headed businessman, the option would be for a large capacity new stadium on Stanley Park, to be shared by both clubs. Used every week, shared costs etc.
I personally am not advocating that, cos the fans don't want it, but in truth it is the most sensible business approach.
The Real KB

Correct me if I am wrong Ed,I may have read
or heard that Sky are reluctant to prosecute pubs who show match's illegally until this is sorted.
Redeyedhector {Ed001's Note - they can't prosecute as it has been ruled legal. They have to win this case to establish its illegality on whatever basis they can find to do so. I believe my esteemed colleague has hit the nail on the head, Sky will just keep going down different avenues until they find one that works. As soon as they do, well then every pub and club that shows the games live is likely to face court action. But this case has to be sorted first.}

A fair point there KB,I suppose a half full stadium every other week is better then an empty one.
Redeyedhector {Ed002's Note - But it is not going to happen.}

Lol Redeyedhector.
A stadium share won't happen but, just saying, it probably is the most sustainable solution.
The Real KB

You are joking KB. Hard nosed businessman, Can you see coca cola building a factory for Pepsi to help them improve & surpass them eventually, not a chance. If you don't have your own stadium then you are not a football club & you have nothing to sell on afterwards. There are so many problems with joint ownership that the only way it could be considered is if you were getting it for free & even then in the long run it's not worth considering.

Oh I don't know mate, Inter and AC seem to get along OK.
The Real KB {Ed002's Note - But not Roma and Lazio.}

I think something similar happened in ireland not so long ago with a pub showing epl matches again nothing can be done about it.

So now in the January transfer window we are going to buy Hazard for 30m and Honda and Roux and Traore - for gods sake we wasted 35m on Carroll so why do we have to waste lots more on untried foreigners?

Suarez was an untried foreigner.

Ash

If we win some silverware, Carroll scores 20goals in all comps and we get back into the Cl would you still consider it a waste of money? We need to give him at least a season to see what he can do before saying we wasted £35mill on him. As for Hazard, if he's that bad why are all big clubs round Europe watching him? And finally were going after foreigners are there's a lack of not british talent. Watch the England game tonight and tell me which of those players you would want at LFC

Will you still be calling Andy Carroll if he scores the winner against the mancs or in the final of the FA cup?

A win against the spammers and were only three points behind them, that hopefully will give us the confidence to push on and keep pace with the top three, if were still there or there abouts come january i think more investment will come to try and go for the title, i dont think john henry will be able to resist if he can see the finish line and thinks we can reach it first.

People are posting about players we may buy in future transfer windows and also posting future Liverpool teams. Is is because people realise (like myself) that people KK have bought are just not up to our standard, e.g. Carroll, Henderson, Downing, Adam, and a fortune has been spent on these players. Agree?

People would want more players regardless of the team, thats the way people think.

Look at barca team, you would still probably say need a cb, gk

Just get behind the players and stop complaining. too many whiners on this site. i thought liverpool fans are supposed to be the best supporters in the world.

It is one of the most irritating aspects of this site that so many fans have so little patience. I'm with Wexford Red and AD on this one.

TIZER RED

Well i haven't voiced an opinion on here for quite some time and it appears the ridiculous rumours throughout the summer have been replaced by the whinging of fans to new players.

Firstly, I cannot stand this ˜Next Gen' style of fan that has suddenly emerged from the dark recesses of our World. Knee jerk reactions, no patience, no knowledge, no bloody clue. Yet they take over these pages, flood twitter with absolute garbage.

It is of little surprise that the modern age footballer is seen as being out of touch with the fan. The vast majority of fans now overtaken by people that want/demand instant success, instant skill, instant results and will not tolerate inconsistencies at any level.

It appears that if you blaze a shot into the stands after 3 mins of a match you are a complete and utter waste of money and not ˜Liverpool' quality. If you happen to lose a header next, a tackle and then a stray pass then God help you and God help the manager because by now 30,000 ˜fans' have started a ˜get this b**tard' out campaign over forums and twitter. If the club happen to lose the match then the other signings can look out as well as they'll be roped into the flack.

Take the Spurs game as an example. We were awful. Agreed. Deserved to lose? Agreed. A bad club with bad players and bad buys? Erm No.

These games happen and will continue to happen. No matter what superstars you have in the team. Fortunately it is the (lack) frequency of them that matter.

Cast your mind back to the mid 80's I think. Managed to cobble together the train fare to Coventry and see Liverpool at that dump called Highfield Road. It was cold and foggy as I recall as I watched a full strength Liverpool team smashed 4-0 by a Coventry side, who at that particular moment in time were on an absolute dire run. By the end of the game, we were lucky to get away with only 4. We were completely out run. Alan Hansen was made to look like the worst defender I had ever set my eyes on. Dalglish up front could have been mistaken for some division 4 striker on loan. Souness just tried to kick anything that moved after going 3 down and still failed that!

I cannot recall hearing that much ˜Get lost Hansen, what a waste of money we paid Partick' or ˜Sack Paisley, what a crap striker Dalglish is. Dear me, never Liverpool quality ever. Instead of buying Dalglish we should have broken the bank and got Maradona from Napoli'

So in a nutshell, it is so embarrassing to hear all the boring stories of Henderson, Carroll, Adam and Downing and their perceived lack of ability. Whilst they will have games where they are poor, or do a number of things poorly in a game, this doesn't make them a crap player or a waste of money. So save your breath and your fingers and in turn this will save my time.

Ultimately you judge a player over the period of time at the club. You cannot say Suarez is a success¦..yet, as he may go off the boil in the coming months a la Adebayor style and struggle to keep up his standards. However in 2 or 3 years time I expect to see Suarez engineer a move away and hope by then he's proved to be value for money and a great buy.

Bob the Red {Ed001's Note - well said!!}

Haha, actually Tizer Red it wasn't me! I can't agree/disagree to posts either for some reason on this computer! Although I do agree with the poster funnily enough!
