What did macca do ed for him to be blocked {Ed001's Note - not Macca, a fake Macca, we get idiots who think it is clever to pretend to be him.}

Oh i see ed well what did the other say lol {Ed001's Note - no idea, it was obviously made up nonsense or he would put his own name to it instead of someone else's.}

Re above

Like this comment - but as to value, and more importantly options we are going to have to pay big regardless.

The way that this works econmincally is that the stronger you are on the field and the more vialble you are as a competitive force nationally (and cross euro) the more you have to pay for the resources you want to field. So while the value of a player may be 100 you are forced to pay 110 by the selling club because of their position and prospects. Same goes for financial position and ability to buy / support programme development - this is why the agents are there to add in (and take out their peneth).

What makes me chuckle is the niaivety of most players, 'i want to play CL football' someone outthere will have the time to say which Euro clubs have been in the CL CONSISTENTLY for each of the last 5 year (average length of their contract) players know or at least should that the duraion and the benefit their contract offers is the sum of the plans of the management team and their own personal efforts: Ergo, THFC heavy investment, mitiple higher than average age and one of several years attempts of hitting the high notes - attractive, compared to the rest?

Adam J is a great player, but you pay inexorably more for a marginally better play - your valuation is realistic even if the player offers nominally more than others. .

I doubt sheity would sell to us anyway. . why would they?

Got to have my say on this one, Adam Johnson - good player, but he ain't no world class eff'in superstar. He would do a good job for us, Granted, but to me he's no more than an upgrade on Riera

In fact, I'm going one more step, his main asset in my opinion is goal scoring, I don't think you'll see much hogging of the touchline, taking people on . . . .again, don't get me wrong, he's an intelligent player, but he fits well at City as he is more Rolls Royce, (nice to have player), rather than what I believe we need, especially if we pay between £15-£20m. If we'd had bid for him at £7m, then that to me is more his true value {Ed001's Note - on the left he is a proper, line-hugging, old fashioned winger.}

Though it is unlikely, albeit possible, for LFC to get fourth, the fact that KK has managed to resurrect us from near-relegation zone to the point where we are even talking about the possibility of fourth at this late time in the season, is amazing.
Add some investment and give Kenny a full season and the future is looking bright. YNWA

Is it true about gerrard and Suarez being in Dublin on Thursday for the new kit launch and if so where and what time?

07 May 2011 23:08:50
Samba had a teriffic game today, been watching him for a while now and I think he is a quality defender; solid, good positioning and a threat in the opponents box. He wanted to leave Blackburn at some point this season, am I the only one who would like to see him in a red shirt?

It's ok having someone like samba in the side but what we really need is an organisational leader in the back line, which is probably one of the main reasons carra is still playing(apart from his obvious class). i'm sorry to say but one of the best other defenders of this type is rio ferdinand or maybe paoulo maldini pity there old and one play for THAT team. not sure myself who i would like to replae him so who do lot(including ed's) think should replace him.
huddz red {Ed001's Note - I think that organising the defence should be the goalie's job myself.}

Fair enogh comment ed but what lets say reina gets injured, whats to say that the replacement keeper isn't as good at organisational skills which is why in my opinon its good to have a defensive leader in the back four or three, it helps to have more than one leader as long as its not destructive towards the team.
huddz red {Ed001's Note - I just think that the goalkeepers and defenders should always train together to organise the back line. Whichever keeper it is should be taught to deal with that as one of his duties, I think.}

I just want to voice me concerns about the signing of Charlie Adams. .I just don't think he's good enough.

Matt Jarvis, Ashley Young, Stewart Downing im my opinion are not good enough either to wear the liverpool shirt.

I think we should look at ver Banega. Diego Perotti and also Kevin Doyle

I think Doyle would be a great assit to the club.

Adam Johnson would be a good signing but i can't see man city dealing.

Richards would be a good signing but also can't see it happening.

Kevin Doyle is in the same category as the ones you see not fit to wear our shirt. You make no sense.

Stone YNWA.

Agree total these British players not go enough for Liverpool and way over priced

rasone

Where oh where is the faith. you might not see the potential that these people the king sees fit as to into the squad but remember king kennt won an unfashionable blackburn the title with players that quite a few people thought were not so good . have faith. remember people no likey no lighty.(or f*** off. lol)
huddz (r)ed

I agreed with the first two, but doyle?! I take it the poster is irish.

Kevin Doyle is an absolutely attrocious player; just 5 goals all season (in 28 games) in the league is very bad for a striker(who also takes penalties).

I do agree with you about the english players, though I would take Young as a squad/rotation player.

07 May 2011 22:32:59
Please remember we need to look at the potential the player can bring to the team and when they are here see what being at a club that has the history we have unrivalled and the ability to once again be the champions of all that they enter believe in the club and the board they will bring success to the best club in the world with the best supporters

Just a message to any liverpool fans from dublin , steven gerrard, luis suarez and dirk kuyt are to be in lifestyle sports in the square tallaght this thursday to launch the new away kit.

Can i ask where you heard this, i'm not doubting you but i live in dublin and this is the first i've heard of it

Is this true

If yo go to jimboardman on twitter there are various links to a competition the official liverpool site and an article on the hoganstand.com tha says paul brogan (gaa plaer) and rosanna davison are set to launch the new kit with liverpool players and also there is loads o liverpool stuff on the lifestyle sports site

I know that many of the "top" teams have faultered this season, however I reckon we are in with a real good chance of winning the league next year, I mean if you think the games that we have got nothing from this year, (and bloody Blackpool doing the double! ! ! ), If you look at defeats by West Ham, Wolves, Blackpool, WBA, Blackburn and 2 draws at Wigan, and at Birmingham, we should hopefully eradicate those, whilst perhaps not getting as much from the likes of Chelsea I still honestly feel we'll be up there.

It doesn't surprise me to see the teams that have beat us this year & for previous years before. I always maintain that our team isn't that bad! How else could we beat Man Utd, Chelsea & Citeh etc? Motivation & desire, Man Management,
Team tactics are some of the problems we've had in the past. A few players who can change a game from the bench would be nice. But if you can beat the top teams then surely you shouldn't be outplayed by lesser teams. That's how I see it.

{Ed002's Note - I got trashed when I said I did not think Adam was good enough.}
- - - - - - - - - -
Not by me Ed, I'm right with you on that one! The blokes nowhere near good enough. In my opinion the same goes for Enrique and Young although I do think Cahill may be better than some seem to think

Chris in Tamworth

I been saying it since we were linked in january. I said that he was big fish in small pond and also playing for a move.

Now that his move didn't materialise his form dropped, exactly as expected. I would never buy a player based on a good half season. To be good enough for LFC you need to be good over the course of 2 or 3 seasons.

Basically city need 2 points from 3 games due to superior goal difference so we need at best 2 defeats an 1 draw any win for city we are screwed we must thank roy for that
cheers kopman

Two draws will have an entirely neutral effect upon City's goal difference advantage. A defeat in their third game will reduce it. A 1 - 0 deteat will mean they are only 5 better than us. Three 2 - 0 wins for us would, therefore, put us into 4th spot. Certainly not impossible if not a little improbable!

If they get only two points and liverpool win their remaining games by two or more goals then liverpool will get fourth spot on goal difference.

I really think city will only get 2 points out off the 3games tot wil beat them then stoke and bolton tricky games the both of them we just need to win all 3 as u said thanks a lot roy look at the points we have dropd blackpool 6points west brom 3points wovles 3points and the list gos on

Thought the goal difference was a bit wider than that but realise what youse are sayin anyway probably been discussed b4 but would u have europa next year or would u prefer to concentrate domestically

07 May 2011 20:24:46
Can somebody explain to me (obviously this is wishful thinking) , what the results of citys last 3 games need to be for Liverpool to have a chance of gaining 4th spot?

4 Man City 35 21 62
5 Tottenham 35 7 56
6 Liverpool 35 15 55

City lose all three we win all three.
Could happen. . . . . .
it's a funny old game :-)

Use the bbc table predictor :)

City can draw one and lose rest 2 . and we have to win all three.

AJI

If we win are games by 2 goals in each game then we can afford City drawing 2 and losing only 1.

07 May 2011 20:36:10
Although Enrique seems a done deal, I feel that Clichy will be a Liverpool player this summer, I'm sure Comolli will be trying to convince him to join Liverpool as he also convinced him to move to Arsenal.

'El Pistolero' {Ed002's Note - That would be tapping up without the permission of Arsenal.}

07 May 2011 20:21:48
This is what we're looking at to finish fourth ahead of Man City at the end of the season

Liverpool beat Fulham (Craven Cottage)

Tottehham beat Man City (Eastlands)

Liverpool beat Tottenham (Anfield)

Man City draw/ lose with Stoke (Eastlands)

Liverpool beat Villa (Villa park)

Man City draw/ lose with Bolton (Reebok)

Man City must lose 2 draw 1 or lose all 3, and we must pick up maximum points to finish ahead on points.

If they draw 2 and lose 1 we must make up a 6 gd (7 to overtake), and win our remaining 3 games to finish fourth.

As unlikely as it is Reds, stranger things have happened!

I'll believe till it's impossble.

What about Alexandre Pato ??? - I Mean he dosnt get a game and we could use Aqua as part of the deal ?

Edd would like ur Opininon on pato and our chances of signing him {Ed001's Note - he has failed to live up to expectations, I would not want to waste the wages he would command.}

He knows where the goal is but is incredibly lazy and goes missing for large chunks of the game. He would be a huge (expensive) risk. A little bit like Benzema.

Dirks Engine Room

I can tell you now that no amount of money would sign him. Milan would be happy to sell but he has zero interest in english football. Chelski offered him a blank contract 2 years ago and he turned it down.

His agent stated that he did not feel english football suited his game.

Lol there is NO chance neil lennon will even be considered for the managerial role at Anfield. and thank god to, hes an idiot {Ed002's Note -I understand the plan is to bring him out of retirement to play as part of the dream central midfield pairing with Joey Barton.}

ha h don't forget Charlie Adam! we'l win all the trophies!

{Ed002's Note - I got trashed when I said I did not think Adam was good enough.}

lets be serious here, any decent player can look good playing for a poor side. perhaps the reason Joey Barton appears to have shone at newcastle. again, another average player. here are far, far better options out there, many of which would jump at the chance to play for liverpool

A decent player can look good playing for a poor side, but a decent player can look better playing for a good side. The better side you play in the more you'll get the ball and the better movement around you. That's the way I see it anyway. You can't deny Charlie Adam's range of passing & vision, so with the kind of movement he'd have infront of him playing for us, United etc would make it so much easier for him, thereby making him look better. But I'm not convinced of his all-round game and fitness. Which is why Moussa Sissoko is by far a better option.

If Liverpool intend to win the premier league next season nothng short of Lahm at left back, sneijder midfield creater and potentially rossi form villareal should be considered forget the average blackpool, villa, spurs, bolton and blackburn players suggested, simply not good enough. If we can get agger fit he will be future as he has anfield in his veins, we won't need a centre back.

We defo need a cb and If i was KK i would go all out for hummels, I agree with lahm for lb but SG isn't getting any younger as is sneijder.Personally (Dreaming)I would love to see a Ganso Lucas partnership in the middle of the park. Redmist

Agree with these players. Lahm is an excellent left arguably the best in world.

I felt we should have took Sneijder in the Alonso deal to Madrid as for me he was the ideal replacement and not wanted by Madrid and loom at him now.

Ed did we ever try and get Sneijder fro Madrid? {Ed002's Note - I don't think so.}

Can somebody explain to me (obviously this is wishful thinking) , what the results of citys last 3 games need to be for Liverpool to have a chance of gaining 4th spot? {Ed002's Note - Without getting in to goal difference, Liverpool need eight points more than Manchester City in three games.}

It liverpool win their remaining games 2 nil and spurs beat city, then city draw with both stoke and bolton then liverpool would get fourth on goal difference. bit of an ask though,

Havent been on here for ages but see all you wools are still hanging on every word of macca, who do you really think he is steve clarks kid? he talks that much hes bound to get one right every now and again

Bit pathetic calling people you don't even know 'wools' over the internet don't you think.

It's such a pathetic insult seeing as alot of us ARE actually from Liverpool.

07 May 2011 19:48:04
The biggest shame about our season is that you see Spurs falling apart at the seams, Citeh struggling to make it over the finish line for 4th spot & we only started to play from the end of January. Even if Hodgson had got the bullet at the start of December, which wouldn't have suprised anyone then Spurs & Citeh would be chasing us instead of us trying to catch up.

The Irish Rover

I totally agree mate, I think Kenny could have beaten man u in the fa cup with more time to plan obviously he couldn't plan for Howard webb but we could have been in city's position of having a cup final to look forward to and 4th place stitched up.

07 May 2011 19:29:20
Spurs draw 1-1 and now on 56 pionts. Bale could be out for the rest of the season aswell. {Ed002's Note - There is no doubt Spurs can be caught. Liverpool must be favourites to be in 5th come the end of the season.}

Hello Ed we've all heard these rumours about Lennon coming to Liverpool. What possibility do we have of signing him Ed? {Ed002's Note -A slim chance of Aaron as I think he may move on; Neil appears happy in his job at Celtic but could perhaps be persuaded with the right deal offered.}'

Ha ha ha.
Actually, I think he may have been alluding to the St. Mirren manager, Danny Lennon, whose sparkling mangerial expertise has led St. Mirren to second bottom of the SPL. Henry & co are working ferverishly around the clock to make sure that such a golden opportunity doesn't slip by.

Sorry but what is largely suggested as targets are not good enough for LFC. For god sake for the first time in ages LFC have a number of good young talent comin through from the reserves and youth team which means we can concentrate on spending the whole budget on 1, 2 maybe 3 marquee signings, forget the average signings which seem to persist on the rumour pages and go for class. Notably Ribery, Conceacea, and Schweinsteiger. Lets not go for mediocracy, We are LFC.

Who is Conceacea? {Ed002's Note - I assume Coentrao.}

Go Macca! !

This is brilliant news!
I so hope it all works out as expected (there's still a way to go before the summer, and I guess there could still be some twists and turns).

Johnson is absolute class, and KK will get the very best out of him too. Fantastic!

Downing is better than Young tbh, but with Benzema we'll have real squad depth AND quality for the first time in ages!

Is there any news on the Midfield/ LB positions, Macca?

News of us signing Adam Johnson is fantastic - I've been a fan of his since his Boro days and liked him more than Downing. . but looks a possibility that those two might be reunited under King Kenny.
Ashley Young would not be my first choice on the left. .I'd prefer Arda Turan, but it looks like he's set to move to Athletico Madrid. . shame.
But adam Johnson would be a great steal from one of our rivals for the title next year. .bring on the off season and the new season. . . .

Hey ed, love the site! ! I don't think there has been a day in the past year that I haven't been on (says alot about my life lol) Anyway I was wondering, is there any way that you could make a setting on the site to change the colour of the background and writing? Like a "Night-time setting" My eyes get so sore from reading the site of a night with the white background.

Anyway, it's just an idea. Keep up the good work!

A big long shot - but Liverpool could still get 4th spot in the Premier League. We must hope Blackpool take a point against Spurs later this evening, City have a meltdown like today and that we win well on Monday. {Ed002's Note - It will take rather more than that I am afraid.}

Love this site. I am from NYC and all EPL games are televised by Fox Soccer Channel FSC1 and FSC2. I have Time Warner Cable but Cablevision, Vios, Direct TV, Dish Network all have these channels You have to pay $7.00 a month for channel 2 but that's nothing channel 1 is free its part of basic cable package. Also all EPL Monday games are televised on espn2 at 2:55 you can easily go into any bar in nyc and there is a 99% chance they will have espn. I would say id watch it with you but i work till 4:00 so i dvr it and watch it when i get home. Hope this helps you. Lets go reds.

Also I don't think johnson would give us much width as he cuts inside too often. Who would be your ideal signing for the wings?

{Ed002's Note - Just to be clear about "facts", I know for a "fact" that Damien Comolli has already let Sissoko's agent know that Liverpool see his man as the ideal long-term replacement for Steven Gerrard.}

Oh well, that must be definitely what he is then if DC said it. I tell you what, if he is the replacement for Gerrard then we should pay whatever is quoted as he would surely be worth it, considering Gerrard for the career he has had would be considered priceless.

No because gerrard is gerrard and sissoko is sissoko even if he becomes gerrards replacement. plus any where around 10-15m will get him and he hasn't got long left on his contract i don't think?

I notice our friend Roy has been spouting off in the morning papers about how good a Manager he is. In my experience, the best Managers are the ones who don't have to keep telling everybody about it. Their trophies and football speak for themselves.

Maybe Roy could get closer to being as good as he thinks he is if he signed that player Hugh Millity.

Heyy guys :)
i really hoop we get Ibrahim Affelay or Aaron Lennon :). On the BBC Sport Football Gossip coloumn it says: Tottenham are willing to sell Aaron Lennon for £15m following a breakdown in his relationship with manager Harry Redknapp. But if we don't get Lennon then we could get Adam Johnson who is really good :), he is another one who doesn't like his manager. It defo looks like Jose Enrique is a done deal according to Guillem Balague and Slyvian Marveaux is pretty much done. This is the team I really think could challenge for champions league and maybe premiership.
Reina
Johnson Carragher Skrtel/ Agger/ Cahill Cissokho
Lucas Merieles
Kuyt/ Suarez Gerrard Johnson/ Lennon/ Afellay
Carroll
I know its a doubtful team but I really don't know what I want to do over wingers because we've got Kuyt and Suarez can play on the LW and Gerrard is really good at his best and we need Carroll and Suarez so i just don't know what to do in midfield. Kuyt has been good this season, and we need suarez and carroll on the pitch but where to play, anyone got any suggestions ?? :/

Aaron Lennon is very overrated IMO. he's more interested in shaving designs into his head and eyebrows that he is at getting better at footie. He's a slightly better version of a former LFC winger. Consider him Jermain Pennant 2.0. Not really good enough and for 15M is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay overpriced.

Whats patterns and brow slits gotta do with it? but he isn't someone id want to come, sure hes got pace and fast feet but he draws blank whn he gets close to the box. i wanted him to join in 2007 because back then he was a better theo wilcott but now hes still the same person and hasnt progressed at all although he does get a good few assists a season but suarez got that in half.

Hmmm really dunno who i want at them moment :L :/

My number 1 & 2 targets for each position:

LB: 1. Jose Angel, 2. Aly Cissokho
CM: 1. Moussa Sissoko, 2. Eva Banega
RM: 1. Dimitri Payet, 2. Marc Albrighton
LM: 1. Adam Johnson, 2. Balazs Dzsudzsak
ST: 1. Abel Hernandez, 2. Welliton

All very possible, some of you might doubt Adam Johnson. But Mancini will probably still be there next season, and City will be after the very highly rated players such as Sanchez which would force Adam Johnson to look elsewhere, if we came in for him he'd see we're going places and would be guaranteed first team football.

Forget Benzema, Gomez etc, they'll cost a lot and not the type we should be after. We need a ST with frightening pace that can get in-behind the defence looking for flick ons from Carroll or to force the defenders sit deep and give the space for Suarez inbetween def & mid.

I don't really feel that we need a CB, but if we are to replace Jelly Agger then we should go for a solid experienced one, as we have Kelly, Wilson, Ayala, Wisdom & potentially Coady that could all become top CB's.

Opinions? Anyone?

Stone YNWA.

I think you have hit the nail on the head with what i feel, but then again we are probably not on the same wavelength as the club. From what has been said, it seems Enrique will play LB next season which i am slightly disappointed about. Sissokho would be an excellent replacement for Gerrard and would be my first choice. I think we have an excellent chance of getting the player.

If i were to choose wingers i would like to see Johnson and Dzsudzsak, failing one of them i would like Albrighton, but im resigned to thinking Villa would not sell him at all.

With regards to the ST position, i think we could do with a pacey forward, but i don't think we will go for one in this window. Plus, I personally havent seen a lot of forwards who fits the bill, if any at all (that would be available)

Good post though, i completely agree with your thoughts.

MacIntosh

I'm struggling to find a pacey/poacher that could be an option for us aswell. But hopefully the club aren't!

I'd like Johnson & Dzsudzsak too, but simply because I don't want anyone else having them. I think we need a right footer on the right which would mean one of them dropped. If price and the situation wasn't an issue I'd rather have Albrighton, but Payet would come at much less IMO.

Stone YNWA.

I think we should keep maxi if not for his commitment but then for his relationship with suarez or bring in someone from south america to compensate because i think maxi is one of the reasons he has settled in so quickley. don't want him to feel alone do we.

I'm assuming your being sarcastic ? If not so keep a player and pay him a high wage every week to help someone feel at home ? I'll get a uruguian passport and learn Spanish to get paid that much a week

07 May 2011 14:26:02
I hope we sign Sakho

Excellent potential, very young. However he would be accompanied with a massive price tag of around £15m. Debatable if any approach for the player will be made by Liverpool.

MacIntosh

It appears that we have been priced out of a move for him. Camolli met with his agent a few weeks ago and has also spoken with Robin Leproux of PSG who came back with a valuation of 17mil. Hence the renewed interest in Papodopoulos et al. TomRed

Although I understand your concern for price tags, LFC will not be asking you to chip a percentage of your monthly wage into buying him if they do make a move so don't worry. They have shown their intent to spend for the RIGHT players already.

You will also understand then that Camolli dosen't want to put his reputation at risk and spend such a larger amount of money on a player that is largley unproven at the highest level. FSG do have money spend and will spend in the coming window, but they are keen to distance themselves from the largely scatter-gun transfer policies of the former regime. TomRed

Obviously, Its more to do with the 'budget' we have for the window. There is a lot of positions that are more necessary that CB, a decent winger and LB are probably more important, and also a replacement for Gerrard is needed. Sakho would be an excellent addition but it remains unlikely atm with the valuation of the player as we will have t spend heavily to get a couple of decent wingers. But there is always a chance

MacIntosh

I was a bit hasty on the comment there. I see your point is that the price in your opinion would make us reluctant to bid. Not that you are concerned how much he would cost. Sorry pal.

No problem mate, I think a lot of people would like to see huge stars joining, but due to Liverpool having a budget most of these players would not leave enough for other positions. The club will also be looking to complete most if not all of these deals by the beginning of the window.

I would personally like to see:

Johnson (£15m)
Dzsudzsak (£12m)
Dann (£8m)
Sissokho (£12m)

It is also well documented that a LB is needed, and apparently the Enrique deal is all but done according to others on this site and Guillem Balague. He is a pretty average player and i think Newcastle were looking at £12m for him.

The point i'm getting at is that, the majority of first team players will have to be bought over the price that they would be worth otherwise the club will probably not accept, unless they have financial difficulty. Just my opinions though most of this.

Sakho is first team for example and would be difficult to replace for PSG and therefore they would be unlikely to accept less than £15m for the player.

MacIntosh

Even Tommy knows width and left back are the glairing priorities. But I'm sure that if there is an opportunity to strengthen other areas such a CB, DM, or stiker for the right price then we will make moves. After all, if you beleive some of the more reliable posters and the eds about scouting targets then I wouldn't rule out moves for those other positions. Is there a budget for the summer? Or is it that if the right players are available, then so are the funds. All within reason of course because after all, we're not City.

No probs mate. TomRed

07 May 2011 14:26:03
For me, I'd be over the moon if in the summer we bought a decent LB, CB and LW/ RW. That's all I want, I'm not after huge signings or players that play for themselves (such as Young), we need to be going back to the old Liverpool way, where all players make a great team and not being referred to as a two man team etc.

LB: Clichy (5-8 million) - I can see this happening as Arsenal also have Gibbs availible, I'd much prefer him than Enrique (Not only just the money to buy him but I also think Clichy is a better player).

CB: Cahill, (10-15 million), this rumour has drifted off but I'd love to see Cahill as a Liverpool player, I think he's going to be the next best CB in the league.

LW/ RW: Johnson, (8-12 million), I rate Johnson highly, plus I think he is unsettled at Man City and City are more than likely going to be splashing cash on wingers this summer so he is likely to move.

Plus, if we sell the dead wood (about 7 players) that should easily cover the funds for these deals and then maybe we could buy decent squad members.

£8m for Johnson?

Best deal ever? I somehow think that is slightly unrealistic! £12m would be the minimum they would sell for the would have thought mate.

MacIntosh

Attitude and ability is key to dalglish.
youth and athleticism is key to commoli.

considering this i think 1st/ 2nd/ 3rd choices are:

left back- taiwo/ baines/ enrique
centre back- sakho/ jones
midfield- m sissoko/ mccarthy
wingers- mata/ downing- payet/ lennon
(marveaux in regardless)
forwards- hazard/ gervinho/ odemwinge

imo we don't require a back up number 9 as ngog and ngoo are adequate youthful back ups with game time required to improve

Pacheco scores for Norwich, that kid is too good to let go
Isaac

Just because he scored? You have to ask yourself why he hasn't played more for Liverpool. His attitude apparently isn't very good and to be perfectly honest players like this are more problems than it's worth. It doesn't matter how good you are, the attitude is key. Prime example is Kuyt, he's not a naturally gifted player. His attitude is top draw, that's what you need IMO (Obviously they need to be decent to some extent :] )

MacIntosh

Wheres your proof hes got attitude problems? you dunno whats going on, it could just be motivational problems which i would understand 100% and that's probably the reason why he was sent on loan. to get motivated by playing and come back knowing how it feels to be playing and working harder in training. doesn't mean hes got attitude problems.

If you read my post I said apparently, plus motivation is within your whole attitude so in theory you agreed with me to an extent. Also, you are right I don't have proof but do you have proof he doesn't. Its just what has been said before. Agreeing with what you say, if it motivational then sending him out on loan is good for motivation.

MacIntosh

Liverpool have rejected queries fro
Norwich of a permanent deal for Pacheco today, so seems as if the loan spell has served it's purpose. He has the potential to be a 1st team player within 2 seasons if guided correctly

Aldred

I agree completely MacIntosh, and I'm not suggesting that we need to keep him but it is clear he has ability in the games I've watched him in for Norwich this season and it would just be a shame to lose him.

How do I find this Bale and Lennon video slating us on youtube? I've searched under Bale and Lennon and more, but there's nothing there. Can somebody point me in the right direction so I can see what Pob was on about. Cheers. {Ed001's Note - it was taken down almost immediately after it went up, I doubt you will be able to find it.}

Yeah, no sign of it anywhere on the web, never mind Youtube. I wouldn't want either at the club anyway. Pob goes to ground far too easily and writhe's around like he's took WW2 shrapnel to the thigh, and Lennon is pacey but too hit and miss with his delivery and has a bad attitude (little man syndrome). All in all for the money they would ask for either or both we could get some real quality wingers (take your pick). I'd put them both in over-rated bracket without a shadow.

Memories fade quickly, our best player next season will be the forgotten talent that is Steven Gerrard. After his recouperation that he needed months ago he will return the heartbeat, rhythm and technical brilliance to the midfield with his craft, guille and never say die attitude bouncing off the young talent, a renewed Kuyt and a simply brilliant Suarez we have got one hell of a season to come.

Hazard has stated publicly that he turned down Chelsea last summer because of a perceived lack of opportunity for regular playing time, and has indicated the same thing applies for Real Madrid. If he comes to the Premier League, it's 50-50 b/ w Arsenal and Liverpool. The one thing in our favor is that he'd almost certainly get more playing time here than at AFC. The main thing in Arsenal's favor is CL football immediately.

I suspect that he's impressed with Kenny's willingness to let youngsters play as well as our more attacking style since RH left. Given his age, he might be willing to wait a season or two for CL football to start regularly.

These are the sort of transfers though that would signal that LFC intends to return to being one of the top 3 or 4 teams in Europe. I hope it's a top priority for Comolli, as I can only imagine what Hazard can do with Jonjo, Suso, Sterling, and co. over the next few years.

Camolli had talks with Michel Seydoux and Franjo Vranjkovic (Hazards agent) yesterday and renewed LFCs interest in signing Hazard. Camolli has been in constant touch with Aurelien Delespierre over the last few months to monitor any interest from other clubs, including Arsenal. It is thought that an offer from Arsenal is in the pipeline which has forced Camolli to open talks with Seydoux to clinch the transfer. Watch this space! Chelsea also have an interest in the player but Lille are unwilling to deal with them due to an aledged tapping up of the player back in Feb. TomRed

07 May 2011 13:19:08
Lucas is doing a great job but if we sign M'Vila, Lucas must be sold or used as cover.

I would rather have Lucas anyday, plus he is experianced in the premier league and I don't even understand why people want a DM - Mc

People want a DM because the midfield is in drastic need of a bit of bite. Put any of our midfielders besides Spearing in a pairing and the entire middle of the park will be over-run because Gerrard never tracks back, Meireles is allergic to tackling and Lucas lacks the ability to perform last-ditch sliding tackles like Masch use to - an action that saved our defence's blushes on many an occasion.

Martin

Gerrard never tracks back? He was playing as a CM not CAM as he no longer has the legs to run from box to box. Unfortunately. I still think he has the bite, plus is extremely experienced. It would be a waste of £10-15m to buy a decent DM, who would more than likely be unproven in the EPL. Plus he didn't need to track back because he was already there. He has not been fully fit for the whole season, which is a shame but hopefully he can get back to near his best!

As a centre midfielder you are expected to track back and occasionally help the defence. Gerrard doesn't do this and never has - I suspect it's more of a case of his complete inability to competently defend rather than him simply just not wanting to run all the way back, but it's still a problem.

Martin

Next time france play watch M'vila and next time brazil play watch lucas. Lucas has more experience and it shows. M'vila sometimes looks like he nervus on the ball.

I really don't agree with what you're saying but you are entitled to have your opinion

Lucas as cover for M'vila? You've got to be kidding. It is only logical that if bought, M'vila must prove that he's better than Lucas if they're fighting for the same spot. The team isn't picked on reputation.

And also, just to get a lil debate started here, who do want our next captain to be, but it can't be gerrard carra or reina. Kelly for years to come i'm hoping, but would be interested for other people's choices. i think suarez would be good too

Martin Kelly
"This is Anfield. . THIS is Liverpool. WHO THE F*** ARE MAN UTD?" (off his facebook page)

JSR34-YNWA

Not too sure about kelly as captain. doesn't seem to do much talking on the pitch. we don't have many leaders in this squad apart from the 3 you mentioned, maybe suarez. also ive noticed at the match this season lucas is talking and organising things alot more especially when gerrards not playing, gets people going so he could be a possibilty (ha going to get slaughtered for that one but he has been captain before)
mr t

{Ed002's Note - I am astonished. You are suggesting having a captain that does not speak English.}

Who suarez? didn't say he should be captain, i said he was a leader, was captain of ajax before so therefore could be a candidate in the future so not too astonishing. and im sure he'll learn english fairly quickly either way.
mr t

Its simple Reina for captain and Lucas for vise that what i'd have but in the future uno its gotta be Jonjo and Coady

Totally agree must be pepe & Lucas

Saurez is learning English and if he picks it up as quickly as he managed to learn to speak Dutch, a language he must have had far less exposure to in South America, then it shouldn't be too long before he is fluent!

I would Have Lucas over Pepe for the simple reason that I prefer Capt's to be near the middle of the pitch, as used to find GK captains unable to see what's going on in the final third.

Ditto, i'd have lucas, and then coady once he's old enough

JSR34 - YNWA

I wouldn't be so quick to replace Kuyt on the right wing. He instintively knows how & when to slip in behind the strikers to score. Not the most skilfull but his work rate means a lot to the overall team performance & allows Johnson to push forward as a winger.

I agree, all these people posting 4 wingers coming are going to be dissapointed imo. just can't see kenny dropping kuyt to the bench to accomidate all these 'marquee' signings.
mr t

Kuyt will be kept and hold his position for work rate and recent run of form not to mention goals this season. We can rotate him upfront in latter stages of games or as replacement when suarez or carrol injured.

He will also give our youth team players a chance to develope into 1st team ie sterling

Aston Villa caretaker boss Gary McAllister has revealed that the club have started discussions with Stewart Downing in a bid to convince the winger to sign a new contract.

The former Middlesbrough star is understood to be a top summer target of Liverpool, but he still has two years remaining of the deal he signed when moving from The Riverside for £12million during the summer of 2009.

McAllister, who is in charge in the absence of Gerard Houllier, is aware of the need to ensure Downingremains at the club on a long-term basis, particularly with doubts hanging over the future of reported Manchester United target Ashley Young.

The Scot said: "Stewart has got two years left and we are getting into that area where it's coming into our vision.

"It's in progress at the moment. We are starting to make contact with his agent.

"We have to keep good players here."

McAllister admits he would vote for Downing as Villa's player of the year and believes he is capable of becoming an England regular.

The former Middlesbrough player impressed during the friendly international against Ghana at Wembley in March.

McAllister said: "Another wee target for Stewart is that he has always been in and around that England squad.

"The question is can he go and become a part of the team? I feel he has enough in his locker to do that."

Joe Cole is off to QPR spurs will be signing Parker, where would Cole fit in to Harrys side, and £5 milllion you must be joking, all Cole will be sold for is the remainder of his contract with you, maybe £2 million."

To be fair, Spurs already had an abundance of midfielders and Redknapp bought Pienaar and attempted to buy Adam as well in the same window. If he thinks Cole is "triffic" he'll go in for him and continue to turn a blind eye to his other problems, and i for one hope he continues with this gameplan. When you need strikers and a keeper, just buy more central midfielders. ;)

The S** looking very stupid after their 'Guilty' headline over the QPR affair. Very satisfying.

Congratulations on getting promoted QPR, looking forward to our team playing you next season.

I can confirm from an extremely reliable source that an agreement has been made between Newcastle and Liverpool which will involve Spanish Left-Back Jose Enrique moving to Anfield for 7.5 Million and Paul Konchesky moving to Tyneside.

This is 100% accurate, you may not wish to believe me but the deal is near enough dead set, expect to see it within the first 2 weeks of the transfer window at the latest.

was your extremely reliable goal.com by any chance?

The Enrique deal is far from being concluded. Yes, LFC have registered an interest in the player and a fee in principle has been agreed if the interest is followed up but he is not LFCs first choice. Konchesky is likely to go back to Fulham in the transfer window. TomRed

Nothing new in that at all mate. Any team aiming to win the PL needs to be about 10points better that the spam just to stand a chance when the "refereeing" factor is added in. Howard is just another in a long line over the last 20 years. Jeff Winter was the only one who stood up to it & see what happened him. And it doesn't just stop with the officials. Sky sports are also involved - they owned part of the spam & even tried to buy them outright at one stage while still "running the show". And now with one Manc mouthpiece Gray gone in disgrace, SKY have now the bareface afront to put Neville onto their commentary to give the Spam yet another advantage. So get used of it mate.

I'm sorry but i only see Konchesky returning to a London club.(QPR, Fulham or others)
I doubt he'd move even further away from his friends and family in London.

Lennon has a bad attitude and has little end product !

What a crock, lenny has a very good attitude, his only minor mistake is what he said about merseyside and its people, and the cigar thing with england also present were a whole host of players! hes never really photographed out & about in town!as for crosses do your homework! spurs wingers mainly put in low crosses or get to the bye line and pull the ball back, the high crosses tend to come from the full backs bae and or corluka/hutton! but then again its easy to be a critic sitting on your arse 200 miles away watching motd

Gerrard has no plans to leave LFC and LFC have no plans to sell. It is a fact that, apart from the obvious injury, he has never been happier at the club since Houllier was his manager all those years ago and I think we'll see a reinvigoured Gerrard next season under Kenny. TomRed

Liverpool F.C. lost £20 million in its last financial year in part because the club rejected the company that offered the most money for its shirt sponsorship in favor of one with more exposure in Asia, which is fast emerging as the financial future of football.
Likewise, Chelsea F.C. hired ECN Management to sell the image rights to their players in Asian markets. And Manchester United have long held a permanent beachhead in the East.
The moves highlight the soccer s desperate search for new revenue sources as expenses mainly player purchases and wages far outstrip the willingness of domestic fans, media and sponsors to keep paying more for the same thing.
On the day Liverpool published its first set of accounts since being bought by the owners of the Boston Red Sox, the club s commercial director told Management Today that he could have gotten an additional 20% from other companies when he was negotiating with them in September 2009. In the event, he went with Standard Chartered (STAN.L), which paid £20 million a year for four years:
We didn t actually choose the one offering the biggest amount of money; another company offered significantly more. But what Standard Chartered had that we thought was more valuable than that additional 20% or whatever, was that there was a real match in terms of what kind of business they are; how they conduct themselves; what markets they re targeting for growth; and how they were going to go about activating the sponsorship internally. And I think it was absolutely the right choice.
The headline on the net loss was that much of it came from a contractual payment to Rafael Benitez, the team s mercurial former manager, who was paid to go away after a disappointing 2009/ 2010 season. But in terms of the underlying business Liverpool seems set to become financially dependent on a continent where few have ever been to Anfield to actually see a game. Here s a snapshot of the income statement, which I ve pieced together from the scant details provided by the club itself and Bloomberg:
FY ending July 2010
Revenue: £184 million
Of which, commercial/ media/ other income: £58.5 million*
Interest payments (on net debt of £123 million): £17 million
Players and staff wages: £108.5 million
Net loss: £19.9 million
*Estimate actual numbers not released
The loss explains the distances Liverpool is willing to go to find new money.
The club is touring Malaysia, China and Korea this July as if it were a rock band to play its preseason games. And Ayres even declined to rule out playing an additional 39th game in the season on foreign territory to promote the league abroad. (That s sacrilege to fans, as each team would face one of the Premier League s 20 clubs three times in a season, an advantage if your side were drawn against lowly Wigan Athletic but a nightmare if you had to face Manchester.) Ayres said:

{Ed002's Note - A good summary. However, keep in mind that the season in question included Champions League money which will not be shown in the accounts for this year and that additional charges associated with replacing Roy Hodsgon, coaching and medical staff will also not be seen until the accounts for this year are published. As such, a tour of the far east: (a) is financially sensible in the short term; and (b) increases the visibility of the club in an economically buoyant market. I don't see it as the "desperate" move that you perhaps do.}

Ed or anybody which 3/ 4 wingers would you prefer Liverpool bought and why and why not the others you have not chosen out of: Marveaux, Turan, Young, Johnson, Downing, Lennon, Payet and Nzogbia.

Cheers

I think the best 4 would be, Payet, Turan, Young, Marveaux. I don t rate the other wingers, I think they go missing to much in games, and it is imperative that these players give the front 2 lots of service, we will get back to the day when we use to play attractive football and hammer teams Ross

You should have included Dzoudszak or Marin and removed Lennon and young.

I think Lennon has an attitude issue from some of the rumours ive ben hearing .That is one thing we don't need .
and as for Young Ive said this before he's good but keeps his head down too much and the final ball a lot of the time is poor

A. Johnson, Payet & Marveaux

Turan, downing and johnson all the way

Probably only getting two and a young one, the two would be marveaux and young or (payet or elia) and the young one would be griezmann. next season will be kuyt's last one and in return we will bring in wijnaldum from Feyenoord (im convinced this is going to go down as a swap deal)

Do you think we could push Glen Johnson into RW position and let Flanno settle into his RWB position? Glen is a experienced player and playing infront of Flanno will offer us abit of security backed up by Carra? save afew quid on 1 winger invest somewhere else

cocko-ynwa

Kelly is the best right back we have. And I think that is going to be his best position. Ross

Johnson is the best RB we have, Kelly will take over from Carra in CD.

Couldn't agree more mate

Spot on! He could be a revelation there! Johnson is not the best RB we have, in fact I don't think he is a right back at all judging on how he plays there. We signed him after a great season at Portsmouth, of which he played largely on the wing earning the rave reviews which made us fork out £16m (i think) for him.

A wee point oft overlooked is that Rafa seemed to like his full-backs to beef up, such as with Johnson & Insua - they ended up with upper-bodies like middleweight boxers.

As a result, both turn like a bus/tank in defensive positions against nippy wingers, disasterous for a full-back. Anyone else noticed the effects of this 'bulking up'? Going forward, the ramifications of this are less damaging, not to mention he has two great feet, with a hammer of a shot with either foot & will be more astute defensively than most wingers. . . though not must rightbacks unfortunately.

In saying this, he has been very good at LB considering its new to him, but isn't a long term solution. Personally I hate left-footed right-backs & right-footed left-backs (Except Vincent Candela, he was great!), who disrupt the natural attacking flow by the constant need to cut inside, and limit the width and supply which will be crucial next year for Big Andy.

Could save us a packet & could also be a great option for England on the right in future - maybe with Kelly as first choice RB - its a matter of time folks! (I'm Irish so I don't care too much about this, but it would keep Glen happy. Rather than some kid stealing his place for England & LFC - this way his career has a chance to progress rather than stagnate).

Only Kenny knows what he thinks about this, but i'd like to see Johnson given a game there! Maybe Kenny deems it too risky in the remainder of the season, but if not, give it a try in pre-season! Could be quality.

"He's definitely the best referee in the country, there's no doubt about that. We are getting the best referee and we hope it's our turn for a little bit of luck."

Hey ed's etc

Just finished reading an epic swindle : 44 months with a pair of cowboys and it has just re-emphaisised(sp) my gut feeling that no matter what we've already won our biggest battle this year, maybe the biggest battle our club has ever know: we got our club back!

I know everyone is going from pillar to post. I mean, we're either spending £100m to nothing but lets be honest its better than what we could have hoped to spend last september.

FSG's jury is still out and rightly so I say. Lets see that you say little but deliver big but doesn't it feel nice to talk about who we are gonna buy, who we can lose and that we have a 'maybe' brighter future. Disbelief wasn't an orgnal characteristic of a liverpool fan but the past years have taught us a very hard lesson. Before H & G The accounts of the club where one of the last things I looked at, now I keep my eye on them, as I'm sure many a LFC fan does. I never wanted to know of leveraged buyouts etc but now I do I'll be keeping an eye out.

I'm sure the current owners know that and know every fan will now have half an eye on the finacnial results as well as the on the pitch results. However, it feels like they might just know what they are doing, don't get me wrong, that jury is still out. After being burnt so badly it can take a long time for scars to heal but at least there seems to be some healing happening.

Generally this is meant to be a reminder to everyone, in october many of us where thinking adminstration was the only way to heal ourselves of the wounds enflicted (sp?) on ourselves wheras now we talk of million pound signings and the hope we have for he next couple of years.

I guess I just wanted to remind people of how far we've came and how much we've came through. This season isn't about getting champions league, it about getting our club back, and letting FSG know what it means to us.

For thr first time time in a long, long while it feels like the futures our, the futures red.

An optismistic red
JJ

Couldn't agree more, mate. With the Chuckle brothers out of the picture, a re-vitalised commercial approach with the right partners seems to be propelling the Club forward. Talk of administration, docked points and even relegation should be fresh in everyone's memory as a reminder of how close we came to ruin just a few months ago!
It's refreshing to be able to look forward to the Summer with a heart full of optimism.
ANFIELDPETE

Same JJ. read that the other night. couldnt put it down!

I knew Hicks had lost his marbles, but some of the stories regarding Gillett, what a dumb a$s!

Makes you wonder how these people are still standing with the amount of credit they obtain and unable to repay back. . over and over again.

I think we shouldn't forget sir mr broughton so quickly who REALLY was one of the saviours from the crims.

I know it hasn't been long with FSG in charge, but watching Henry and Warner giving out drinks at the Red Sox game the other night - makes me feel assured that we are in really capable hands.

Hello fellow Reds, I have drew up a list of players that I expect to sign. According to my men anyway.

Juan Mata/ Adam Johnson
Ashley Young
Phil Jones
Moussa Sissoko
Jose Enrique
Karim Benzema

Xavier Martoez

Yes I expect this too, but add Downing/ Adam and a backup GK. Also its Mata not Johnson

The only way these players come to Liverpool will be a hugh clearout out of personnel first

Don't sweat it, its generally a curse!

Cause he, s not form the spam down the east lancs road or the capital that's why and he won't get the knighthood he deserves all because he is from liverpool

He isn't from liverpool. hes not even from england, he is from scotland

07 May 2011 01:42:53
Personally I think a.johnson is a little overrated and would need to improve to be liverpool class. He has a good shot and quick feet but very predictable with bad passing and poor fitness (why does he think matches only last 70mins). He doesn't even get in citys team as a starter that often. He has bags of potential but not ready for me.
If perotti could handle the physicality of prem he would be my top winger target as his passing crossing amd fitness all better than johnson.
Rewflo {Ed005's Note - Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but worthwhile mentioning that Johnson has been injured for a chunk of this season, and Roberto Mancini doesn't seem to like him. He isn't considered key to Man City and people would perhaps look at that and suggest that its because he isn't good enough, but consider that it is the vastly over-rated Roberto Mancini managing Man City. The man who plays a defensive midfielder (Y.Toure) behind the striker and believes that his attacking ability is so great that he chooses to shove David Silva out on the left and compromise his ability to accomodate Toure. I don't think Mancini is a great judge of a player apart from the obvious quality.}

The times I've seen Johnson play he's not been class for the whole game (but then who is?), but he beats the full back plenty of times and delivers a lot of good crosses.
I'd bite City's hand off to sign him, and I bet he'd hardly ever be out of the side.
The guy is top drawer, and he will only get better at LFC.

Usually when I see him I am impressed, he has one thing I think LFC need and that's pace, with a good footballing brain and end product. On counter attacks he would be a horror, and if put on the right with Johnson or kelly overlapping and suarez infront it would be hell to defend against the left side.

On the fitness, I doubt its much of an issue, after a few 90mins under his belt he will easily gain the match fitness required.

I don't care what the price is within reason but we should go out and sign this kid his 10 times better that young in the wide positions as young cuts in if needed he could paly on either side and still do a wonderful job. Would also like to c Richards at the club think Man City over look him alot with players half as good as him and mayber milner if a deal could be done could u imaging milner and kohnson the wing for liverpool

Make no bones about it if A johnson came to Liverpool he'd make a massive improvement able to take players on, cross balls, and has a great shot. I for one would welcome him as he certainly would improve the team unlike Charlie Adam.

Don't you think Man City will charge a high price? How much did they buy him for?

I've read it was for an 'undisclosed fee' but at the time i remember rumors of 18million but that might be wrong it was a while back!

However, I doubt whether Man City would sell to a rival like us and with the new spending rules coming in soon it means they will want to max the amount they get for player sales. Lastly, i also read A.Johnson saying it is his "dream" to play champions league football so all in all i cannot see the transfer happening - although i would love it if it did I really rate the player.

Red Chris

I thought that at the time (due to contract expiring) that £7m was the figure Man City purchased him for.

Hoola

I seem to remember the fee being in the region of 11 million or thereabouts, I strongly believe a bid of 20 million would be enough, simply because Mancini doesn't think he's good enough

A. Johnson is the best winger in the Prem. Would love to have him.

lb:jose angel, baines, cissohko
cdm/ cm:sissoko, m'vila, matuidi, gago, martinez

I think its a joke if we sign enrique, hes a dodge, johnson had been playing really well left back and robinson played great against arsenal. . why waste 10-15 million on him!

Enrique is not worth even 5 mil. its better to spend some cash and get either cissokho or sakho, get few proper wingers like payet or adam johnson sell agger for 10 mil to any italian club , may be get a solid passing midfielder like defour and a young striker and we are sorted for now. then next year we can add few other squad players and a superstar.

Re the Bale rumours:
I don't believe the Bale and Lennon you tube rant about what a crap team LFC are, how he'd sooner play for tranmere rovers, and what a dump the town is etc, would affect Comolli's thinking, although Kenny might stop and ponder it.

They were basically just pissing about on cam, taking the mickey out of LFC and the town.
It was annoying, of course- but the juvenile rantings of young footballers messing about shouldn't be taken too seriously.

And the bottom line is that Bale is overrated anyway.

And the best revenge for his daft little prank is not a nasty 'anti-Bale' campaign, but rather to see LFC, the team they both thought was finished back in September, rising above their own team, and looking forward to great few years of success with KK- whilst Spurs fall back into the melee of middle ranking teams where they probably belong.

Believe it mate. If they were not genuine they are wasted in football. Fair enough they are entitled to their opinion but Lennon is gash and Bales is the worst footballer of the year ever

I don't know what all the fuss is about over Bale or Lennon of Spurs ? Dirk Kuyt is better going forward than both of them put together.

I think Giggs is the worst footballer of the year ever. At least Bale played some football throughout the year. . .its a start! Or maybe Ginola over Keane in Man Utds Treble year (although Ginola was great, Roy was a feckin freak that year). I never heard about this youtube ranting, but at least Lennon will be a no-go. So Hooray!

Naturally Bale would walk into our team (any decent left-winger would), he's hyped beyond belief but could be an amazing player. He was amazing at Southampton when he was young. . .and I mean amazing! Still though, he's not the finished article and if he's on youtube slagging LFC he can piss off! What an idiot?! If that's his mentality at his age it makes me wonder if he has the intelligence to develop his game and become truly consistent & world-class. . . look at Lennon, some people are just too thick to develop.

But whoever wrote the last reply. . . sorry, but if you think Kuyt is a better winger than either Lennon or Bale then you're a lunatic. If Dirk ever goes near that wing again then the LFC revival is over. He's finally playing as a striker. . . and kicking ass - just like I said he would, I spent many hours crying here about this very point.

Don't even tease me by talking about those dark, dark days of 'Dirk the winger'. Or by arguing he was great there - perpetuating the myth (probably by citing some assist stats, citing amount of times he passed to Torres, who blasted home from an impossible angle, or beat 3 men and waltzed home past the keeper! Or maybe stats of how many goals he got from 'the wing' & entirely missing the point that most of them were from set-pieces, penalty area poaching & in games where Dirk was up-front, which only re-enforce my point that he's wasted out wide!)

Unless you want another 6-odd years without a trophy of course, in that case, shout away!

"Don't sign any wingers guys! We've got Dirk!"

aaaaaarrrrrggggghhhhhhhh!

If Dirk is on the wing next year, I may actually consider ending it all. . .

A bit dramatic maybe, but Kenny - please never, ever put me through that again. . .

(I may not feel fully secure unless we sign at least nine right wingers this summer! Maybe then I can sleep!)

ps. I love you Dirk, never go back there. . It demeans us all. To think how many goals you should have scored by now. . I remember when we signed you. . I was so happy. . "We've signed a super-striker!" I said. .

Better late than never though. In Suarez, Carroll & Kuyt we have three quality goalscoring strikers for next year. We havent had so many quality options up front since Owen, Fowler, Heskey (quiet folks!) Litmanen & Anelka - which is why we need to add another one. Two injuries or a suspension & its N'Gog up front as it is! Thats no way to challenge for the league, a surefire way to drop points! we're moving up in the world though!

Unless these 'Dirk the winger' people have their wicked way!

Hey ed i was the on who posted on agbonlahor earlier, i realise he is probably not good enough but i don't want to go buying all these young superstars, like people are sugesting such as aguerro, hazard, sanchez, gary cahill, javi martinez, benzema. . i realize these are all quality players apart from cahill and would all command 20 million plus price tags!
People need to get real, maybe 1 or 2 of the top are possible but if we got a few of them we would be known as the next chelsea or Mancity. .and if we win anything they will say we bought the title!
I would prefer to get a few very good squad players and they way kenny has them playing anything is possibible!

Ed what u think about being the next mancity or chelsea? {Ed001's Note - I am in full agreement with you, I would rather just add a couple of quality players and blend in youngsters from the academy to them. I don't think we are that far away from a league title anyway, we just need width!}

Cheers ed, i also think if we had kenny from the start we would be in the top 4, also sorry ment to ask, whats the situation with adam johnson and a transfer request or something, i saw it on this earlier? {Ed001's Note - the only thing I know about that came from an ex-Boro teammate of his, he told me that Johnson, Milner and others (he doesn't know who else or won't say I am not sure which) are looking to leave if Mancini stays. Whether that was an overreaction to Johnson's subbing during the match (I forget who they played now) while Balotelli stayed on and he has had time to calm down since I couldn't say. But at the time he was one of many ready to leave the club, a lot of it is down to Balotelli's favourable treatment. He did say that trouble had been simmering for a while though, so I am hopeful that it was more than just a tantrum that he will have had time to reconsider.}
