I beleive that the Henderson deal is £13m + N'Gog. If this is the case then N'Gog is apperently worth £7m. Mr. Comolli take a bow. David is worth £3m at best!

If you think the money is too much just remember that your not paying it so it doesnt matter!!

07 Jun 2011 23:41:42
Ssn reporting the deal is £20 mil plus ngog that seems very very generous to me. What do you think Ed? {Ed001's Note - I think it is more likely to be a deal valued at 20m including Ngog. So about 35m in cash + him!}

Sky Sports understands that Liverpool have agreed terms with Sunderland for England international midfielder Jordan Henderson.

The Reds have been locked in talks with their Premier League counterparts for several days after making their initial approach last week.

The two clubs have been haggling over the valuation of the 20-year-old, who will undergo a medical with the Merseyside giants on Wednesday.

It is understood that the deal that has been agreed is worth £20million and it will include David N'Gog moving in the opposite direction, subject to him agreeing terms on Wearside.

The French striker will hold talks with the North East club, while Henderson brokers his move to Anfield.

Henderson is due to link up with England Under-21 squad ahead of the European Championships which begins this weekend, and both clubs are eager for the move to be completed before then.

Okay i hate the Ag ero rumours just as much as almost everyone because i know it's not gonna happen.
But think, he is now playing for AM and he wants to go to RM but they won't make an agreement, RM will have to make a 70M bid which is not going to happen.

He said he wants to stay in spain so lets look at the other team in Spain that has money, that team is Barcelona and they have nothing to do with him (Villa, Pedro, Messi, Afellay).

Then he said if he is can't stay in Spain he wants to go to the PL, teams that have shown some interest are Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City, he said that he prefers Liverpool of all those but Liverpool can't pay his wages which is 180 thousand pounds a week, we have max 120 thousand pounds a week for each player so then he would have to put down his wages to 120 thousand pounds a week which he would never do.

So then he won't go to Real Madrid, Barcelona, Liverpool, Chelsea or Manchester City, then what? HE WILL STAY

does anybody think that Lucas signing a new contract was so we don't lose any possible value on him and he could be sold????

LEECH

07 Jun 2011 23:38:50
The best news of the day is that Ngog, or NoGo has finally gone. What a crap player!

07 Jun 2011 23:38:46
If the Henderson deal goes through, do you think we will still go for Adam?
Dan

07 Jun 2011 23:38:37
carnt belive we are payin so much money for henderson we dnt need him id rather shelvey in the team than him

SSN - Henderson deal has been struck!

YNWA! (Adam)

He'll be a good signing and i hope now he is one of us, you'll support him regardless of whether you wanted him!

07 Jun 2011 23:32:48
why are liverpool waisting money on jordan henderson 18 mill I can't believe it, he's not even worth 7 million liverpool mugs and everybody will put silly prices on every player we go for.

Financial problems hear we go again

Jordon henderson will be a flop, I'm sure theres better players out there

07 Jun 2011 23:22:35

Hi Eds,
Given the fact we are alledgly gonna sign Adam, Henderson, Mata, Downing, Marveraux etc, do you think Mireles might be sold? Where wud he fit in a 4 4 2 / 4 3 3 given that Lucas is gonna be CDM and Gerrard in his preferred CAM , in the context of all or 3/4 of these players signing
I think Mireles is quality, only downfall is does sometimes shrugs a tackle.

Your thoughts

Rebel_Red {Ed001's Note - I do wonder about Meireles future with the club, also it does make me wonder about Gerrard's future. It has to be a question to be asked, could his time be at an end?}

07 Jun 2011 23:17:36
ed: REGARDING BOJAN JEFFREN i wrote in the other week about kk getting a partnership with barca to blood there kids .without doubt barca will want first refusal on the kids , thats if they come at a price an not a loan, " if they come " i got ridiculed about this not seen anyone moaning today ????????????? we are all here for one reason and thats for a bit of banter. 90% of us dont know anythink thats gonna happen this summer .

07 Jun 2011 23:16:53
Hey Ed!

Henderson looks a likely signing, Charlie Adam still being linked. How many midfielders are we gonna have??? that will make Gerrard, Lucas, Spearing, Meireles, Henderson and Adam. I know we wanted depth but thats a lot of midfielders. Lucas and Gerrard will never be sold but you think there a chance of Spearing and Meireles leaving. im guessing Shelvey will go on loan.

thanks Ed {Ed001's Note - I think the likeliest scenario is Shelvey on loan and a possibility of Meireles leaving or Gerrard playing wide on occasion. Also Henderson might be envisaged as a wide right player, it is hard to say until we get to see the team play.}

07 Jun 2011 23:15:29
Sorry Ed just wondering none of my posts today have been updated ... Is there anything I have done ? Cheers Ed ! {Ed001's Note - if you have asked me direct questions I would have posted them on the questions page as a lot of people don't like reading through hundreds of people asking editors stuff. Putting it there just makes it easier.}

07 Jun 2011 23:15:00
it is highly unlikly that anyone will sign soon as we will have to start paying for them now 1st july at the earliest {Ed001's Note - when does pre-season start this year? I haven't had a chance to find out when the players are due to report back. That will have a big bearing - most clubs are back before July, we want players in for that.}

07 Jun 2011 23:03:29
20 million for henderson ed do you think he is worth that sort of cash {Ed001's Note - I am not sure he is quite worth that much, but then I remember a similar worry about Beardsley when he joined!}

07 Jun 2011 22:59:44
Why would we want henderson and adam. I think we will have too many. Oh and adam isn't good enough for us.

07 Jun 2011 22:51:24
Hey Ed mate hectic times ahead? Do u think jones could be done asap?

Fowler is god {Ed001's Note - I don't see any reason for it not to be done quickly.}

07 Jun 2011 22:50:45
I wouldnt worry too much guys. Although Kenny is signing young players with stacks of talent, there is no doubt in my mind that he will get who he wants, CL or no CL, its irrelevant. From things ive been reading, it appears the money is firmly there to get who kenny wants. I dont know who KK and DC want for sure in terms of larger scale signings; but I wouldnt be suprised to see a couple of big names arriving.

07 Jun 2011 22:46:19
mata
henderson
jones
jeffren all going to under21s i think so hopefully deals tied up before they go

Just seen a post in the wish list section, in which Kuyt didn't even make the bench... I hope you are a ManU fan, otherwise, watch a game next year please.

15 goals 9 assists.
Bale got 7 goals 1 assist.
I s'pose you'd prefer him though because he's more flamboyant. Face it, Kuyt gets the job done the old fashioned way, through grit, determination and power!

I was just wondering if we sign stewart downing would we still bid for mata?

07 Jun 2011 22:32:44
Henderson could be signed because the British transfer window has opened. Can anybody give a definite update on the henderson situation? Ed?

07 Jun 2011 22:29:48
To the nuggets suggesting Jeffren is not good enough because he didnt make it in barca team...

Do you know how many excellent players couldnt make it into barca first team? heres a few:

Juan Roman Riquelme
Gerard Pique
Fabregas
Luis Garcia
...just to name a few. Many very talented players dont make it through there, in the past it was because star names like rivaldo, Ronaldinho etc stood in the way. Now its because they have the most cohesive team in the world. I might also mention Pepe Reina had to leave Barca even though the guy in front of him at the time was absolute crap.

Mr E

07 Jun 2011 22:29:45
evening eds everyone .all this talk of henderson signed and Adam to follow were are they all going to play and is henderson really any good .please tell me .cheers psv {Ed001's Note - I think Henderson has shown he has the potential to be an excellent player, he did have a dip in form last season, but he is a youngster in a struggling side. Personally I can't see Adam joining if he does.}

07 Jun 2011 22:19:04
ed, is there any need to sign phil jones and scott dann, i do dont see the point in dann as we have carra skrtel agger kyriakos and wilson+if we get jones in him aswell
and any news on mata deal
thanks {Ed001's Note - Kyrgiakos is out of contract, Wilson is to be farmed out on loan, so yes we need quality centre halves I think.}

07 Jun 2011 22:15:14
So much going on in the news I don't know what to believe. It is exciting though I just hope we get the right players to get us back challenging. Macca do you have any updates please let us know

07 Jun 2011 21:59:55
SKY BET, have Liverpool 6/4 to sign N'Zogbia, what the
F% k going on.

If we sign this bum (ref to lfc standard) then we are not strengthening at all, just adding to the sub-standard we have and have had before, i.e babel, gonzalez, pennant etc.

I would like to think our Manager & scouting guys are non-the wiser to this betting and are hopefully pissing themselves laughing at the idea of the standard of N'Zogbia improving our team.

i dont mind if we buy this suarez guy aslong as we are still buying mata, otherwise get mata he is much better.

07 Jun 2011 21:50:30
K Nolan would be a absolute weapon at lfc cos he Is the unsung hero of the pl as players like wilshere and henderson have nicked but he has definitely been plsyer of the season for newcastle plus he is a local lad and would cherish a move to us probably for about 6-9m deal of the season honestly he is awesome

07 Jun 2011 21:45:59
eds do you think jeffren is good enough to play for us?? please reply cheers :) {Ed001's Note - yes I do, I think he will be an excellent player given first team football and good coaching.}

07 Jun 2011 21:36:05
For me Henderson for 18/20m would be a terrible buy, in his short career at sunderland he has shown no indication he is worth that type of money. He dosn't have pace, do skills, beat a man, he's a decent passer I guess but 20m is madenss. 12m at best for me but just because he's English and Engl and are doing so s**t in internationals, everybody just bigs up any decent Englsih younster hoping they change our country's fortunes and become the next big star. The only one of these young English men we've been linked with that I think shows great potential is Phil Jones because he's a really strong tackler, but his price of 15m+ is pushing it.
So, for me, forget downing, Mcarthy, Jarvis, Adam (not English I know), warnock, brunt (not english again). We need better quality flair playerto make us title contenders.

07 Jun 2011 21:28:32
Shane Long better than Wickham and is a target for LFC.

Sevilla have said that Diego Perotti is not for sale. So all the Perotti rumours can now stop

Thats funny didnt we say the same about a certain blonde striker last January?

Which blonde striker are you on about? :) The only bid I remember being turned down was one for Torres.

Has Henderson actually signed??

07 Jun 2011 21:18:34
can anyone tell me what jeffren said in the interview?

07 Jun 2011 21:08:54
If Jeffren signs it's great news, as I said earlier, but it could get even better if the other Barca player we are supposedly interested in (Bojan) also happens. Do you think it could Ed? What a brilliant start to the summer those two would be!!!

Chris in Tamworth {Ed001's Note - I doubt we would buy both, it would make little sense to me anyway.}

So much is lost in Translation.

"We will announce a Spanish player Liverpool have enquired about who wants the move"... MATA HAS SIGNED FOR £25M!

"Liverpool are trying to sign the new Malouda on a free transfer, Sylvain Marveaux"... £8M BID FOR FLORENT MALOUDA!

"Liverpool are tracking preston north end wonder kid Adam Barton"... CHARLIE ADAM AND JOEY BARTON WILL SIGN FOR £8M AND £5M!

"There is no deal between Benfica and Madrid for Coentrao"... LIVERPOOL HAVE SIGNED COENTRAO FOR £25M!

"Liverpool are special to me"... ALONSO'S COMING BACK FOR £20M!

How do you deal with it Ed's?

Chill out people. We'll get our men ;)

Jeffren Suarez has been subject to an enquiry and he wants the move. Should Liverpool and Barcelona agree a fee, I suspect will be a Liverpool player next year.

YNWA! (Adam) {Ed001's Note - we bang our head against a lot of walls.}

----------------------------------------------

LOL mata will be signing so thats one there right about, , , , charlie adam is a very possible deal that can be done, and if chelsea wanna sell malouda then we should go for him cos hes brilliant

07 Jun 2011 21:01:15
does anyone really know who king kenny wants this summer? Weve had loads of names thrown up on here and almost all of the posters failed to mention Henderson, Doni and Jeffren. I think Lfc will sign Messi (LW) £120M, Ronaldo (RW) £90m and talk Pele out of retirement and put him on £400,000 a week! Stop postin gash and go play FM and Fifa. I think it doesnt matter who King Kenny goes for because he'll get the best out of whoever it is and he aint gunna buy a bad player.

07 Jun 2011 20:48:46
So have we signed jeffren or have we just made an approach for him

07 Jun 2011 20:45:45
well that player at 7:30 was bull s**t wasnt it?

07 Jun 2011 20:44:57
Jeffran to Liverpool just shows our intent for next season, obviously Kenny and Comolli are looking at "higher calibre" additions, guess N'Zogbia and Charlie Adam wont be joining so

07 Jun 2011 20:44:31
Hi Eds ,
Just wondering with a Pre season tour of Malaysia announced for early July, will that mean all transfer dealings hope to be completed before that. Cause if there are a couple of marquee signings , they would be brought on the tour to maximise merchandise sales?
Not wishing to sound cynical !
Rebel_Red {Ed001's Note - that would make sense anyway, to get signings in as early as possible so they can get used to their teammates.}

07 Jun 2011 20:41:57
I personally would be very happy with Jeffren (if he signs). Can someone tell which foot does he prefer?? Left or right?

Thanks in advance.

if it is true that we have offered 18.5 million for henderson i think we should tell sunderland that s r final offer take it or leave it and if the player wants to come he will tell the board. if not move on to r next summer target . cmv 05

07 Jun 2011 20:36:51
Jeffren was the player (no secrets there) and, well, after watching clips on YouTube of the lad. He reminds me of Maxi. Flashes of brilliance, but overall average. I hope KK knows what he's doing here, a bit dodgy.

May God have Mercy on the Liverpool Football Club soul.

Evening Ed, moving away from rumours for once (!) have you heard why the Korea tour has been cancelled "due to mitiagting issues"?

Aplogies if this has already been answered, I havent noticed a similar post. Just wondering if you could shed any more light on the matter?

Cheers
GoodKopBadKop {Ed001's Note - I can't find out what has happened with that, I have been presented with two different scenarios as possibilities so far. One being we have had a better offer, the other being some kind of problem with it, but it would have to be a major problem to put a stop to it altogether.}

07 Jun 2011 20:34:20
Well Jefren then but some good news is that this was reported few days ago by Marc but full repot was that we had bid 10 mil for him and 20mil for Bojan so maybe correct both times then.

Lee

Sorry by spelling went tits up on this. Repot was by Marca not Marc lol. Yes i believe now Bojan could be big possibility. I also wonder if any of the people mentioned about us signing are true as hardly anyone mention Jeffren. All this talk of Mata i think is probally nonsense just like this rubbish about Alonso coming back all he mentioned was that he would like to come back one day on an LFC interview he's not gonna actually say "comeback?no chance i'd never leave Madrid beaches are blimin lovely"lol

In his first spell as manager KK bought in Beardsley, Barnes, Aldridge, houghton, spackman etc not big big names at the time but we went on to do the double that season. It's not all about big star names as I have said before. Just watch clips etc.

Too much ps3 gen these days, in real life things are different. If that's who KK wants that's good enough. You watch and you'll be eating your words next season..

delighted with the jeffren links, i havent seen much of him but what i did he looked a good player. cant believe people a moaning about him being a barca reserve, there front 3 in pedro, messi and villa is the best in the world at the moment, theres not many players that would get in to that team the way they are playing. even fabregas will be a sub if and when he moves. the problem with half the people on this site is they believe what they read, then get disapointed when the big name they were expecting doesnt happen.

RE: Jeffren Suarez

On June 7 2011, he told Spanish radio station cadenSER that he has been approached by English club Liverpool for a summer move and is Trololo by the link. But within moments of the radio broadcast Kenny Daglish denied intrest in the player on sky sports news stating he is only interested in signing world class players this summer, such as Francis Jeffers and Ali Dia.

Oh wikipedia :') Now can you people see why it isn't reliable!?!?

Liverpool return for Xabi Alonso is not on the agenda

I'm writing this, not to give oxygen to this particular story, but in response to the countless messages and tweets I've been receiving asking if there is any truth to the rumour that Xabi Alonso could be on his way back to Anfield.

I've no idea where these rumours start - and this one certainly seems to have caught the imagination of the Liverpool fans on the social networking sites - but there is no truth in it whatsoever.

Despite the fact that Xabi loves Liverpool (the club, fans and the city), there are at least three very good reasons why there is nothing to this rumour at the moment;

Firstly, Xabi Alonso is amont the top three or four players at Real Madrid: Mourinho counts on him and he's one of the first names down on his team sheet. Real Madrid are not a 'selling club' and will not be forced into selling a player in that situation.

Secondly, when Xabi Alonso left Anfield, he enjoyed a substantial pay increase. For Liverpool to match his current pay scale would involve completely destabilising the Premier League club's existing salary structure.

And finally, there has been no contact between Liverpool and Real Madrid regarding the sale of Alonso back to Anfield.

Say what you like about Guillem Balague he knows spanish football. This transfer is just wishful thinking.

(copy and pasted from his website.

is the player jeffren suarez. if it is it is another suarez and if he is as half as good as the suarez we have now ill be happy

07 Jun 2011 20:24:25
there is a difference between a reserve play and a Barcelona reserve player. Jeffren is a winger and to try and get into the Barca first team is very hard; if he comes to LFC then he can show his potential with the amount of game time he will get

07 Jun 2011 20:24:21
Evening all,

There are some questions over what was said by Jeffren, did he say we have bid? Are we just interested? also, any idea if any news will break re Henderson tonight?? Ie fee agreed etc??

07 Jun 2011 20:11:33
So what do people actually know about Jeffren? I have seen people moaning already, but not really given reasons why, other than he is a sub at Barca, Well most players would be a sub at Barca. please get real people, they have some of the best players in the world. Ross

07 Jun 2011 20:11:15
I'm starting to get a bad feeling about this transfer window. I do hope I am seriously wrong.
Fingers crossed, legs crossed, 5million hail marys, promise to eat all my greens everyday.
Pplease please please buy some first team quality and not someone elses cast offs, reserves, like to be or has been. I've never even heard of jeffren. Who is he, what's he like?

07 Jun 2011 20:08:18
It's Luis Jeffron of Barcelona! Going from what the translator said he basically ended the interview saying he had basically signed! And is flattered by the interest of the reds!

Think the lad has alot of potential and will be interesting to see what KK can do with him. Has a transfer fee been agreed or does anyone know muted figures for him? Ed your thoughts? {Ed001's Note - have no idea of figures on this, it has been a move rumoured for a while, but I never bothered to look into it because Barca are not normally renowned for keeping their mouth shut on transfer dealings!}

07 Jun 2011 20:07:07
jeffren is quality ! quick dribbler with a end product. just because its not mata we should not worry.this lad was afringe player that just fell short of getting in an incredible side. in kenny we trust. remember john barnes!!!!!

07 Jun 2011 20:05:18
someone tell me what has happened with Jefferen? It's trending on twitter and also see it all over this, what has happened in the past hour!? please, PLEASE, reply ED {Ed001's Note - he confirmed Liverpool's interest on Spanish radio.}

Jeffren?alll this fuss for a reserve player great:(

*********************************
He's a very good player!!! I would take any of Barcelona's 'reserve players' any day of the week, he'll be quality for us, he's only 23 aswell, pace to burn and can score goals... His crosses and set piece deliveries are very good aswell

07 Jun 2011 20:01:06
hiya, could someone please send me a link to this jeffren interview or something please?
cheers YNWA

07 Jun 2011 20:00:31
Jeffren Suarez eh? Seems like a good signing to me. Theres not many players that would be ahead of Messi-Villa-Iniesta in the pecking order, but this kid has bags of potential!

07 Jun 2011 19:58:54
Since it's Jeffren that looks imminent. can any of the eds's tell me if he's any good? and what position does he play out wide or striker??

cheers
Daryll {Ed001's Note - he is similar to Pedro in many respects, looks faster though and more able to play out wide. I would be pleased with his signing.}

07 Jun 2011 19:58:53
jeffren is a decent young winger and would improve us alot

07 Jun 2011 19:56:46
whats happened to the 7.30 player reveal???????
I wish jokers would stay away!!!

07 Jun 2011 19:55:39
Jeffren, what a load of crap disappointed, why do we need players that are barca's crap and un needed players we have our own s**te to look after
Jordlfc {Ed001's Note - because they have players like Fabregas and Pique that can't get in their team at that age, they move on and become great.}

07 Jun 2011 19:55:26
Just can't get enough of suarez.. so we bought another. Im not a huge Twitter fan but I searched Jeffren in google and it acme up with twitter timeline and that great joke was said. I chuckled.

Would be awesome to See Jeffren Suarez on the left flank next year! Quality player and not allowed to show it because of Barca's super team.

T-Dog.

jeffren was the player hmmm he looks a decent young winger

is there a fault with the lfc site? there are no comments on any articles, and you can't post any? ed's? anyone? {Ed001's Note - I don't know, they might just be upgrading the servers like we intend to do, if possible, to this site at the weekend.}

07 Jun 2011 19:52:39
Ed, heard anything about Charlie Adam? I'll be devastated if we don't go for him, he's got a superb long ball on him and would be at the very least a great option to have if we're struggling to break a team down. He'd be cheap as well and he's only 25, why not snap him up??

Personally I'd rather have Adam than Henderson, I don't really understand the FSG thing of only signing young players. I know it will help to build the team for the future but we need a good team now as well. The whole "younger players have a better resale value" thing I just don't understand. If we sign a player for 20 million and he doesn't play well for us, who's going to sign him for 20 millon off of us?? We'd be lucky to get 10 million if Henderson signs for us and his form dries up. {Ed001's Note - last I heard Adam was going away on his holidays and was not even going to look at what was on the table until he comes back.}

07 Jun 2011 19:46:54
guys guys guys lets be serious bets are all off the players with their likelyhood of joining liverpool out of ten are the eds are never always right

wickham 10 mil 8/10
henderson 15 mil + ngog or 20 mill 10/10
aguero 40 mil 3/10
cissokho 15 mil 7/10
baines 12 mil 6/10
vargas 17 mil 6/10
mata 25 mil 8/10

lfc spies
remember u heard it here first do u agree eds

07 Jun 2011 19:45:48
Ed, With the likely hoood of the henderson signing, do you rate the player. I haven't really watched him much, Ino hes a good player and is young but is henderson a CM, a future DM or an attacking midfielder, he doesn't really have great technical ability on the ball as a wilshere for e.g so do you think he warrants the 20 million pound we are likely to pay for him, is he a superstar in the making or just a good all round player. I don't want to put a dampener on the kid but he doesn't really excite me. Ed, could you enlighten me with your knowledge and thoughts, thanks {Ed001's Note - I think he will end up as an old fashioned central midfielder, capable of getting forward to support attacks and back to protect the defence. Exactly what you need to play 4-4-2.}

Battle of the centre halves:

The club have got Phil Jones of Blackburn as their number one target. Scott Dann is a backup to this. Rumour has it that Jones has been to Kenny's house to discuss terms that concerns me not due to breaking rules and regulations; screw that; it frustrates me because it means we could be missing out on the much better option:

For me Scott Dann is far superior for the following reasons. I'm amazed at some of the rubbish talked on this board asking whether Scott Dann is a. Good with the ball; b. Good in the air c. Can defend in a good team because he's only good because Birmingham City are a defensive unit etc etc

Firstly my opinion on Phil Jones. Firstly he's 6ft No more and no less; not the most commanding in the air and secondly to those who talk about his ball skills; he is adequate; Sam Allardyce played him in holding central midfield; because one of his qualities is his ability to brake up play in that position; get it and give it so to speak; you won't find him bringing ball out and pinging 40 yd passes to front two; its not in his locker. What he is an old school centre half very much in the mold of a steve bruce; not top England quality but very solid very committed.

Scott Dann however has everything in his locker. Firstly he is 6ft 5in tall; and wins 99% of all his headers defensively. On set plays he is definitely a threat and scored 3 times for Birmingham in half a season; so good for 5/6 goals most seasons. Secondly he is good on the ball and can comfortably bring ball out and link play either short or long (has a great ping and has been known to play through balls over the top can see a pass). Excellent defensively; has one of best stats in PL for last ditch saving tackles and while stats can lie; outscores Phil Jones across the board. He doesn't lack pace but isn't a gazelle; I saw some posts saying can he play a high line; well to be honest; no teams in PL play high line anymore but he does have enough pace to cope with that. Finally he is a tough and very determined winner; he really wants to win. Very important point because how many winners do we have in our dressing room? 3 or 4? Need more if we are going to overturn the scum down the East Lancs. A big talker and controls a defensive.

Oh and I almost forgot; he's one of us; born and bred in Liverpool as a Liverpool fan how can people of this board not see that as a massive plus we don't want crap scousers playing for us; but he's far from that this kid at 24 and with over 300 first team professional starts under his belt could be our captain of the future.

Why oh why is KK going after Jones; good player but NOT in same league as Dann last season with Dann is side they were mid table; without him relegated. Won versus Chelsea; drew with Liverpool and Manchester United; all with Dann is side. One chance to get this kid just before prime of his career and its now.

Jones is 19 and Dann 24 is the focus on Jones due to his age; I'm not seeing him in same league as Dann. Alex Mcleish a centre half himself is happy to let Johnson go but is desperate to hold onto Dann who would captain Birmingham next season; why because he knows that's his best chance of getting back up.

Come on smell the roses; all you idiots going on about is he top quality; was Hanson when we bought him; was Lawro; was Kevin Keegan? We made all these players; and believe me Dann could be a Liverpool legend about time we went back to the roots that made this club great and signed someone with old school ability who we can build a team around he has 8 good years in him 8 good years to get this club back where it belongs to be Number One in England and Number One in Europe.

Remember we shouldn't be buying Stars; we should be makling Stars the Liverpool way!!!

So Dann all the way.

Liverpool FC TV is scheduled to currently be showing small talk with Jamie Carragher, but are instead showing all of Xabi's goals. First his interview, now all of his highlights, plus the 7.30 Spain announcement (not sure if that's true), but it seems that they are definitely trying to build up some Xabi hype. Maybe, just maybe...

"Spanish Radio to announce at 7:30 UK time that Juan Mata has agreed to move to Liverpool. Jordan Henderson deal will be announced tommorow and they also hope to sign Wickham, Jones, Downing and Enrique this week.

________________________________________________

Can we get a source for this radio prediction? I don't think we'll be holding our breath on this one.

Also, why can't you spell tomorrow? Good spelling and grammar at least help to make stories LOOK credible."

Well, I never knew that this site was associated with the English teachers guild. How disgusting that the original poster can't spell a word, or that a finger happened to slip onto the in-correct key!!! That's a detention for you poster for the mis-spelling of that word and for offending Mr. Hitler. Please remember, good spelling and grammar makes a good pupil. You're gonna get a spanking! Tally ho.

Ed 2, how come you declined my invitation of a bottle of Lambrini and chicken kebab? I'm a little offended now that you've turned me down (well, not replied to my advances). Come on! Ha.

can someone please explain to me the thinking behind signing Henderson, how is his potential and future value consistent with FSG's policy, i can't see him going from a 18mil player to a 30mil player in a few years, i also cannot see a team being built around him like it has been with SG over the last ten years to increase his future value. He is not good enough to replace SG and he hasn't had the impact SG had when he made his debut in 1998, i would rather take a punt on Huddlestone.....what do think eds?? {Ed001's Note - Huddlestone? For one he is awful, for two Spurs don't want to sell him.}

Re. Joe Lewis

Broken kneecap or not, from what I've seen (9/10 not 10/11) he's a poor kicker. Couldn't get the ball beyond the halfway line however hard and whichever way he tried. Maybe he's improved since then.

Aren't we signing Doni?

Might sound daft Ed but please bare with it...i hate s**tty rumours as much as the next person.

I play fifa ALOT and just before the Andy Carroll transfer i noticed that after a live update (as required now n again - usually thursdays) Andy Carroll was no longer listed under Newcastle when playing online but was actually in the Liverpool squad for selection. Within a couple of hours he was back at Newcastle.

Havin updated my Fifa just now having not played it for a few days, when i select Real Madrid fr an online game... Higuain is not available for selection, doesnt show up on the bench nor in the reserves...and guess what...Higuain was sat in the Liverpool reserves. Having played a few games again he is now not available for selection at neither club.

The only time I remember this happening was with Andy Carroll but as i dont swap my team usage alot i may have missed previous deals.

I told u it sounded daft and im not concerned about any negative comments I get because i would laugh this to sleep but Liverpool shirts in the south american regions r being sold with Higuain printed on the black market! A lad i work with has just come back from his travels and took pictures of the shirts at the stalls!

make of it what u will

Why are people saying Andy Carroll is out for next season. What is going on

07 Jun 2011 16:33:55

I actually genuinely laughed at this I mean a real LOL - while sat at my office desk....fair play mate - thanks for the giggles - LOL!

Better late then never but just to add to the leftback/wingback that was going being debated on the banter section, mine would be Juan Vargas all day long, the guys can be a match winner from leftback.And can play as an attacking midfielder.Best crosser of the ball out of any of the others mentioned not to mention his spectacular shooting and being a top echelon free kick taker.Could score from a corner or 2 for a change from his delivery but i'd have him stationed on the edge for balls cleared to be smashed back into the back of the net.Any chance of Vargas ed on a rating, sorry for asking. Jonny Boy6 {Ed001's Note - there is every chance of him, he is one of the more likely options to join.}

According to a few posts on twitter Juan Mata's transfer will be announced at 7:30pm tonight on a spanish radio station. In my opinion it's a load of bull.

Would love us to sign-
Mata, Aly Cissokho, Gervinho, Henderson, Jones and Osvaldo.

What about Messi, Ronaldo, Pele, the Pope, Honda, Tevez and anybody else whose name you can spell?

07 Jun 2011 16:12:41
A good buy would be Wesley Schnider how great would it be to steel him from under utd's noses like we are trying to do with Henderson. Even better would be to bid 40 mil for him so even if he don't want to come to us Utd will have to pay that if they want him mwahahaha(evil laugh)

There may be a ring of truth in the Alonso rumours. Kenny brought Rushie back which lifted the team and I'm certain that would happen again if we got him back home. What is a realistic price for him after a few seasons away though.

Would love us to sign-

Would hate us to sign-
Cattermole, Downing, Young, Warnock, Barton and Young.

I hope we sell-
Poulsen, Ngog, Jovanovic, Insua, Kyriakos, El Zhar, Degen, Aqualiani, Agger and Cole.

Agger because he is injury prone, Ngog can't seen to develop any further, Aqualiani, Cole, Jova and Poulsen to add a little bit more money. Unfortunately Aqua I cant see staying. Insua is out of contract so contrary to all the rumours of us receiving a payment thats out of the question.

Just seen the post about Ribery be nice if it's true. I know Sky bet is nothing to go by but do you remember in january they stopped taking bets on him joining us and also Talk Sport said he was coming to us. All i'm saying is if there was some sort of interest that these guys picked up on then there maybe a chance that we did go for him in Jan and agree something for the summer?? Probally not but be great if so.

With Utd being 16/1 to 5/4 on it seems to me that those odds were to good to be true and and 1 of the prawn cocktail brigade has seen this and stuck a rather large bet on him at that value which it obviously was.I posted last night if yot stuck a tenner on all the teams chasing him bar Liverpool you'd be £80 up min if he joined one of them.for once i wouldn't read to much in to them odd's because we all know that yot never see a poor bookie and if the slight chance somebody else would or has followed suit the've just dropped there odds to cover there backs.Think Liverpool at 4/1 is great value myself because doesn't Red Nose see Smalling as Rizzle's ha i mean Rio's long term replacement and he does rate Smalling very highly.I doubt Utd are looking at centre backs at that price.Midfielders, winger and keeper, Red Nose has stated that their only after 3 top class outfield players.Get on the 4/1 guys and gals, last post about betting eds. So if we double his wages we get the player free haha, what an absolute load of rubbish... So what your saying is that Mata is on less than £16k a week haha, I dont think so. Why are Liverpool offering £90k+ a week for him and £22m for his transfer?... (£60m buy-out clause only applies in Spain) Anyway things have changed since November 2010!!! With Alonso, Mascherano and Pepe Reina out there saying how good Liverpool Football Club is then who knows what players' heads will be turned...

____________-

you need to read the post properly. The post stated mata's deal (net salary) before he signed new deal on14/01/2011 which meant he was contracted till end 2013/2014 season and this doubled his wages (net again).so his take home pay is around 30,000 grand now. the post does not say if we offer double his wages we get him for free at all. The post actually states that "any offer made by any club for Juan Mata must be discussed between the player, his agent, and the club, without a transfer fee being agreed between the two teams first, which is how transfers usually work".

if you read the next post below yours, the poster seems to have understood> The post is taken from la provincias and the agent in question is matas father. (phew) thanks

Kenny with mostly British targets this summer because the successful squad he played in were mostly british (this is what Jamie Redknapp) said on SSP earlier.
British targets will include: -
Adam Johnson
Leighton Baines
Jordan Henderson
Phil Jones
Connor Wickham
Charlie Adam
Ashley Young
Stewart Downing
Ashley Young
Matt Jarvis
Gary Cahill

We will sign 4-6 players this summer, I can guarantee 3 of them will be British.

ansaldi:13 million, a left back, very good, plays in the rusian league and is perfect for this league.
alonsso:13 mill+jovanovic, they have signed sahin and they were very intrested in jovanovic before we signed him.
peter crouch:7 mill, wants a return after fall out with players and manager after red card vrs madrid.
marveuex:free
upson free

sellling:
ngog
jovanovic
agger
kyriakos
wilson
skrtel
jones

Jos Manuel "Pepe" Reina P ez (Spanish pronunciation: [xo se ma nwel reina pa.e ]; born August 31, 1982), is a Spanish footballer who is currently in a serious heart conidition after colapsing, rumours has it he was suprised at how much York City Football Club was going to offer him to play. This triggred a serious heart condition.

I just found that on wikipedia lol

Why don't we look into signing Blackburn's captain Samba? He's big, strong, got a good footballer's brain and at 27 he's still young for a CD.

Phil Jones might very well be a better long term option, but at 19 and for 15mil (or whatever) can anyone (including KK) really say for sure? He might turn out to be utter crap when called on to replace biscuits Agger or aging Carra. Samba would cost no more than 7 or 8mil and would fit the bill very nicely.

People keep saying that lack of European football will put players off. We have inspiring coaching staff, dedicated owners and funds available. And the players would see this and realise that success will happen if players like them join us. City had nothing to offer and look at the team they have and the players they are linked with. Obviously they can just throw money at people to make them come but Liverpool can still compete for good players. However as we've seen in the past, Kenny can find talent and he can bring the best out of people. Expect great things

When talking about his decision to leave and his attachment to the Reds, the midfielder is reported to have said: It was difficult because Liverpool has been and always will be very special
It is in my heart because I have lived very intense things there.
It was really difficult to tell the fans what my decision was, but sometimes you have to follow your feelings and that was my feeling at that moment.?
The fans always made it very clear what they wanted and the support I had from the first day I arrived to the last day was absolutely top and I can t have any complaints about that. But it was my decision and my feeling.
I miss lots of things. I miss the lads, I miss the atmosphere at Melwood it was a great place to work, and the scenario of Anfield is unbeatable.
From the way things are shaping up with the player, it seems like Alonso is suffering from a case of homesickness. Only, the player for some odd reason feels more at home in England, then he does in Spain.
Considering the fact that Alonso is going to be entering his thirties, sooner rather than later, the player really needs to decide where he wants to. Should he continue to play at Madrid, he just won t be able to ever make it back to Liverpool. However, should the player feel like he really wants to move back to Anfield, he needs to do so in the near future.

The ramblings of fans just continue. The nonsense hoping, the crying for times long gone and the endless desires of fans who want Dalglish back up front feeding off a ball from Alonso with Rush and Suarez picking off the loose balls! When are you going to grow up and move into the real world?
ALONSO isn't coming back!
We WILL buy Henderson.
The KOP will NEVER be standing room only ( .... this is not Germany ...) and the endless, endless, endless, endless, endless wishlists of 15 year olds, white van men; men in their 40s who think they are as young as their teenage sons (and dress like them) and people without a clue about finance .... go on and on and on .....

My bank has just told me it will take three days to electronically transfer money from my account to a prepaid card. This is 2011. I walk into a bank in Helsinki with a cheque at 0900 - by 0945 it's cleared! Welcome to the UK - the place where the banks went bankrupt, where they begged for £70,000,000,000 (yes! the right figure!) from the taxpayer and then paid themselves fat bonuses for getting us to cough up ..... AND welcome to Liverpool FC where some of us still live in the past.

We are NOT going after older players or past heroes. This is the new LFC carved from American wood by Scottish and French craftsmen, with world support, international recognition and a touch of Gallic philosophy. If it's not for you - then clear off!

Ron Yeats, Steve Heighway, Sami or Alonso are not coming back boys. Wasting your time pining for the old days. Memories are only fuel for the current and future, they do not burn for eternity and provide power - only dreams.

Those asking what Comoli does will see in the next few weeks. By the way, he is one of us - a Liverpool man, either by choice, salary or desire. He's as important as Big Bobby Jones from Aigburth who has supported the team for 47 years, or Joe and Steve from Bootle who "have red in their veins" or anyone else who wants to lay claim to something unique ...... in their own minds.

Liverpool FC is changing and quickly. Get on the bus or fall off.

i think lfc will buy alot of young players this summer. i also think they will buy maybe 2 or 3 older players.
i have fath that kk will get it right whoever he brings in. what i read on this site and i know its only banter but i do think alot of you need to stop worrying how much we pay for players. that is the way football has gone. so theres no point moaning about it.

As much as I'd love to see Xabi coming back as soon as possible I can't see it happening this season. If we're lining up Henderson and Adam, with Lucas and Spearing ending the season on top form, Shelvey looking good and Stevie to come back, there just isn't room. But hopefully we'll end whatever talks we have with Blackpool and sign Xabi asap. Biggest mistake we ever made. Oh I just realised, who needs Xabi when we have the mercurial force that is Poulsen? The Danish Pastry to you and me.

Alot of LFC targets might not sign due to no champions league football.

LFC may have to look towards signing quality, but ageing players to get themselves back into champions league and then compete for the best, young european talents.

07 Jun 2011 14:20:54
Why are people worried about price... ur not paying..

if liverpool want someone and think will improve the team they will pay whatever is needed to get the player... so stop whining about the price and support KD and DC

07 Jun 2011 14:20:46
Malouda is not a transfer target for the club. The only players being signed are 25 and under, it is a NESV transfer policy and a fundemental one at that. The goalkeeping situation is different being as Doni is going to be a reserve keeper and could play another 5 years at least on the bench.

--------------------------------------------------

Can people stop suggesting this rubbish. It is merely a guildeline for the club as they want to breed players with potential sell on value. That does not mean players over the age of 25 will never ever be considered. N'Zogbia is 26 and there is confirmed interest so don't talk rubbish. If the Alonso rumours were in fact true Liverpool would bite their hands off regardless of their age.

N'Zogbia is confirmed interst along with Sunderland and Newcastle.

Afternoon Ed,

Do you think we really need Doni, seems a bit pointless to me, even if we were to sell Jones, still not really going to play too many games. Also, have we officially made bids for Jones and Henderson, some conflicting reports about.

Cheers, Potzy. {Ed001's Note - we need a back up keeper so that the youngsters can go out on loan for experience. Officially? No.}

07 Jun 2011 14:00:13
Liverpool have decided not to tour Korea this summer due to mitigating circumstances. I wonder what they are

07 Jun 2011 13:58:06
Hey eddi... why do a goal keeper leave there club where they play from 1st team and go to other club to remain in the bench?(looks like DOni doing it simlarly Dudek did it) as the player alwz look for the 1st team chances {Ed001's Note - Doni was a back up at Roma, nothing is changing for him, Dudek was no longer first choice for us, so again why not?}

07 Jun 2011 13:52:02
Hi Ed's, we seem to have heard everyone's views on the potential signings of Jones (16m), Henderson (18.5) and Doni (1m) but not yours. What your views on the signings if they are true?
Personally i think Jones will be a great signing despite the money and likewise with Doni who will be great back-up for 1m. As for Henderson I'm unsure, especially the 18.5m price tag.

Wheeler92 {Ed001's Note - I rate Jones and Henderson very highly, both are excellent young players with the potential to be top class. I am not convinced by Doni, I think he has a tendency to flap at crosses and is extremely inconsistent in my opinion. But he is only a back up and is such should be a decent second choice.}

07 Jun 2011 13:40:54
You arent building the team, are ya? It's Kenny's team [it's our team too, but we put Kenny in charge and ofcourse we trust him]. So let him build the team his way!

07 Jun 2011 13:39:38
Just a thought... would Doni be leaving as Roma number one without the promise of regular first team action?

Does this indicate something might be happening with Pepe?

I reeeeeally hope not!

so why not buy player's who can start game's for the next 5 years were he would earn his wage??
age is the only factor of how much we will pay!

Don't believe the malouda rumour its absolute hogwash. Why would be interested in a 30 year old winger who can't cut prem ?

Also would people stop linkin shane long please. Not even shane long thinks shane long is good enough for lfc. Guys like a bad smell

I see in todays press we are trying to sign Malouda from Chelsea. This was in the Spanish press about 6 weeks ago while the UK press were only interested in fairy tales. How did the Spaniards get a smell of this so early?
Mixed feelings about it myself, has not had a great season and at 30 is unlikely to improve.

07 Jun 2011 13:16:21
Shane Long and Joe Lewis WILL NOT be signing for Liverpool Football Club.

We are already finalising a deal to bring a new reserve keeper to the club in Doni from AS Roma, so don't need another and have a good young goalkeeper in Peter Gulacsi.

Shane Long is nowhere near good enough to play for Liverpool, David N'Gog is a much brighter prospect. You have been watching too much television and come to the real world.

torres is world class so he commanded a large fee, vdv was bought on the cheap because he isnt 20 anymore and wont get a good re-sale value

just shows that many people on here have no 'sources' like they claim, just go along with all the paper talk and try to validate it by claiming they have a source, however... ED? Is it true that Jodan Henderson is likely to be arriving at anfield today, do you know!? thanks ed {Ed001's Note - to be fair, like I said yesterday, even people working at the club knew nothing about the Doni signing. I don't know whether Henderson is there today or not, just know that he wants a deal sorted now or dropped.}

Hi ed....
Haven't posted on the site for months now but due to all this Henderson and Phill Jones talk I just had to!!!....Am I the only one who is pulling my hair out asking himself why the hell are we spending these kind of millions on another central midfielder when we are absolutely dying on the flanks?!?!?....I mean come on guys!?!.....And am i the only one who is scared that we might actually be interested in Downing?!?....Surely we should be trying to get on with getting Charles N'zogbia in who was blatently on fire this season and who has pace and showed he can regularly beat players and create?!.....Why are we not spending these millions on some really top draw creative wingers or midfielders of which there are a good few all over Europe?!?!.....

A worried Fan..

There seems to be a communications' problem here: with KK and DC obviously looking at and working towards targets, we as fans seem to have a slightly different view of these matters.
There is some discussion about whether or not Henderson and Jones are the sorts of players we should be spending big money for. There is also some reference to Meireles lack of bite in midfield.

I can't beleive the attitude of some posters who think the club has a right to keep them personally informed of every detail of the current transfer situation.
Part of the excitement is hoping, waiting, not knowing and then being shocked and amazed, excited and delirious when we get a player. What gives you the right to think the club should keep you informed?

Oh, you could say "well it's my support and money that makes the club tick." Wrong and right! Look at this way:
You inform the whole world and then there's a million added to the fee or some other clubs is alerted. This is the situation and why would we want that?
There is a loose analogy here between these sorts of fans and FIFA: the club does not belong to the fans. We are a part of the club. We own our interest and love for it, but we don't own the club. John Henry and his partners own the rights and the 'hardware, ' but the 'software' (the tradition and name) belongs to a wider audience. We workl off and with each other in 'owning' the club. It's the same with FIFA - they drive the football bus ... they don't own the game!

Forums like this give us all a chance to write and make a point. It allows the long-term fan a voice; the new fan a word and the occasional fan a chance to read. But it also allows the bitter and twisted, the sad and self-opinionated fan a chance to bluster and stick out their chests.
"I'm a real fan mate!" (We ALL are!)
"I go to every game mate!" (Good for you!)
"I'm more of a fan than you are mate!" ('course you are!)
"I know more about LFC than you do mate!" (Congratulations!)
"I've supported the club longer than you have!" (You older than me ............. mate?)

It's all part of the rich tapestry of football life. I ignore most of the s**t posted on here from people who are related to this and that and know this and that about everything! I suspect they use a Netbook in the passenger seat of the white van or while they are having their heads shaved and trying to fit into their 16 year old's son's football kit so they can hang out together on holiday in Magaluf!

Leave the machinations of transfers to KK and DC. Get on with getting excited about next season and waiting for the new arrivals.
Now that's a "real fan"!

hi eds just a quick question with all this talk of jones does this mean we are no longer in the market to try get sakho? i think he quality lots of pace and reads the game really well.

also due you think its realistic for us to see alonso in a red shirt again?
an if so when??

reply would be much appreciated thanks a lot great job all the eds do. {Ed001's Note - We were quoted a price over 20m for Sakho and have made no more enquiries since. I don't think Alonso is likely to return, we are just not after him, though that could easily change I am sure.}

We should not pay $20million for Jordan Henderson. Final word, VdV was $8million.

yet we sold TOrrES for £50m

torres is world class so he commanded a large fee, vdv was bought on the cheap because he isnt 20 anymore and wont get a good re-sale value

There have been rumours that Jones would fit perfectly into Arsene Wenger's young team at Arsenal, but according to the bookies, Liverpool are the hot favourites to win his signature.
--> yeach except Arsenal's team isn't that young anymore, they're in their mid twenties and looks like over half the gunners youth haven't realy panned out as Wenger wanted.

Moring Ed's

Do u have any updates on the rumoured bids placed on, Henderson, Phil Jones and Conner Wickham?
Plus anything on offers on our players?

I have read a lot of posts but can't see any recent updates from you guys.

Thanks,

Markolfc. {Ed001's Note - I don't have anything else to add to what is already being posted to be honest on the incoming players. As for outgoing, we are trying hard to offload a few but they are very well paid for us and need to be convinced to take a pay cut.}

I tell you the truth: the club will follow Arsenal model by buying young, quality players and will not be afraid to spend if the manager believes they are the right players. Look at Chelski - they are stuck with an ageing squad

The club must builld today for the future. I hate to admit it, but Sir Rednose was right to bring a team of talented young players (beckham, scholes, giggs) in the early nineties and went on to dominate the PL for the next decade.

Yes, we more or less guessed that KD is after Jones, Wickham, but did anyone see Henderson being linked? I have been following the rumours since the season concluded and no one saw that coming and that's the way all transfers will be conducted, silent and secret. If KD believe Henderson is the man for LFC, we support the decision and let him work his magic - SingRed

The best thing about the keeper from Roma coming is the fact Sky Spurs News didn't have a clue, just like they don't have a clue about most of the players we are looking at. People say we are favorites to sign player because we are odds on according to Skybet, my answer to that is where's Franck Ribery, a few years ago he was odds on to sign for us but it didn't happen. We just need to wait and see who is lucky enough to come and play for us and support them.

Newcastle have made an undisclosed bid for Swansea left-back Neil Taylor.

The 22-year-old Wales international made 30 league appearances last season - including 26 starts - as the Welsh club clinched promotion to the Barclays Premier League via the npower Championship play-offs.

"We have received a proposal from Newcastle regarding Neil, " Swans chairman Huw Jenkins told www.swanseacity.net. "But the proposal has not been accepted or rejected at this stage." someone connected to Swansea posted on here a couple of days ago saying this would happen saying Newcastle have enquired about Taylor as a replacement for Enrique increasing the chances of Liverpool signing him looks like he is a reliable poster.

Vdv for 8 Million
Facts
Vdv is no parts of Real Madrid's Future.
He is 27 years old.
But, Henderson is the Future of England and Sunderland. His club want to keep him at any Cost.
He is just 20 years old.
Why people always finds Negative in Each players? Why they Consider that they has more Knowledge than Our King, One of Legends of Football and Damien Cameolli, who has the experience in Finding the Footballing Talents around the Europe. Do those peoples doubting the footballing Knowledge of the King or they Doubt the Business view of the FSG.
If Kenny wants a player at a cost who should i ask a question and why should i suggest is a panic Buy.

Morning all,
If you've got 40 mins or so to spare today, go on YouTube and have a look at the documentary called Home and Away.
No its not an Aussie soap, it follows a group of fans going to the 1984 all merseyside milk cup final.
Great watch and shows footy before its gentrification.

hey eds..........i know its really early......and its better to wait for transfer window to open and things start moving but do you think lfc wont bother with wingers(which we desperately need- we all saw how braga beat us with the highest line ever at the back knowing we had no pace)..or just buy centre mids centr half and a left back

i ask because rumours have been about centre mids and thats it {Ed001's Note - we are trying to get wingers, preferably pacy ones.}

HI ED.Must say im dissapointed to find that we are going to pay as much as 20 million for jordan henderson.And up to 16million for phil jones, to me it seems very high for 2 prospects who lets be honest.Are english fine, young good, but have just over a years worth of experience in the prem.Im a bit worried that if these 2 r bought for these inflated prices then what will be left for a more experience players.Can u also believe we paid 16million for ALONSO from real sociedad and paid what was it 10million for skrtel.And also what about our youngster i think this stunts there growth.With young players like ANDRE WISDOM, CONOR COADY, RAHEEM STIRLING, SUSO, JOHN FLANAGAN.Just to name a few i just dont get the point of signing 2 young english players for hefty price tags when we have our own who i think can be better it annoys me that if u go to places like mexico, germany, france.They dont go out and buy young players from rival clubs in there division like in england.And if we do why dont we buy some more prospects from lower division clubs like we had, not 20 and 16 million pound youngsters.I like nick powell of crewe why dont we get him who i think is cheaper and will be better than jordan henderson.Phil jones i think would be worth buying but 16million please way to much. {Ed001's Note - we paid 10.5m + add ons for Alonso.}

Ed is it now a FIFA UEFA or FA regulation that all teams must sign at least 1 MARQUEE signing per season?

Is there a quota or limit on the number of MARQUEE players?

It seems most fans expect 1 MARQUEE signing but do the rules allow for more than 1?

Also if a player is bought as a MARQUEE signing but turns out to be an over hyped over paid prima dona, does that effect the MARQUEE quota or do they remain a MARQUEE regardless of ability?

I think more clarity is needed on MARQUEE players as the rules are not clear.

But I would still prefer a MARQUEE over a LB LW AM OR CF

MAN AT LEGS {Ed001's Note - I don't think there are any limits on tents at all.}

07 Jun 2011 09:38:12
From all the posts I have read, the question seems to be: Is it better to sign local or foreign players?

Sure we can look back at our glory days in the 80's and say that local talent is better as they are more dedicated and would stay with us for a longer time than foreign talent.

I'm not quite so sure. There are several top sides around the globe that have foreign talent that have stayed on for a number of years. There is absolutely no reason why a foreign player would not stay with us if we would challenge for the CL and Premiership, year in year out.

Look at our own history, several foreigners devoted their lives and best years to us. And don't forget, a few of our English players also left us for greener pastures.

Of course local talent has its advantages as they are better suited to the English league, BUT top managers have all peformed exceptionally with a lot of foreign talent, and they have won. King Kenny will not only do the same, but better.

There is no reason whatsoever why KK cannot get the best out of a player regardless of their origin. Sure it is harder for a Spaniard to settle in Liverpool than an Englishman, but trust me, if we win the titles, they will stay.

I find it disturbing that posters simply disregard foreign talent as uncommitted. KK is not only an amazing manager and football guru, he is a gem of a bloke, and that is what is important.

I would rather play for an excellent manager with amicable and excellent team mates in a foreign league, rather than remain in my home country under false pretences.

Liverpool FC is the most glorious football team in the world, and if I were a footie professional, it would be my dream to play for LFC.

In past years, when we had bugger all dosh to spend, folk moaned (duly so). Now we have very good dosh to spend, folk are still moaning.
Exactly what's your problem, huh?

Why can't people just be happy at the fact that, for the first time in many a year Liverpool can actually afford to pay for many a good player?
Yes, Hendersen, Wickham and Jones come rather at extortinate fees.

But these are immensely talented lads who are the future of England. If Dalglish, Comolli and Messrs Werner and Henry want them, why can't people just trust in their football knowledge and business nous, respectively?

Just be happy that we are signing good players who want to come to this club, dammit! Remember where we were the corresponding time last year?
Being linked with Carlton Cole, Scharner, Luke Young, signing Konchesky, Poulsen.
Now it's some of the best English prospects like Jones, Wickham and Hendersen and good players like Downing.

Yet some people are still moaning. Stop it, just STOP IT! It's sickening, really.
Just let Dalglish, Comolli and Messrs Werner and Henry do what they know best.

Unreasonably negative people just rub me up the wrong way.
People who constantly emphasise the negative of the positive. s**t MAN!
Instead of harping on bleating like a little toddler about how young Hendersen is "not a good option at £16m", does it ever cross your mind that in a coupla years the kid will be world class and go on to make a brilliant replace for Gerrard both at club and international level? That then he would likely be worth triple the amount we'd buy him for?
Same goes for Jones and young Wickham.

FOR f*** SAKE's! Just be happy that we'll be getting good players who will be here for many a time to come. Dalglish and Comolli and Messrs Werner and Henry know what they are doing.
Just trust them to do it their way.

Morning everyone, todays game is help Gary get to sleep. Sounds sad but when stressed and I can't sleep, so instead of counting sheep I lay there pontificating on our best current line up and who else I would like KK to buy. I know it's a bit lame but I bet you have all done it at one time or another. Well here's the point, I always start in the middle and build the team around it. For years this has been easy with Didi then Xabi. The job is easier with a sound core but of late I just can't seem to get going with our current midfielders and I am becoming an insomniac. All of our reasonably succeful teams have had a "rock", someone who puts a shift in, breaks up play but also has an eye for a pass. In 2005 Stevie didn't really get going until Didi came on as sub proving time and again that our better players need someone to trust so that they can express themselves. Imagine if Saurez had to spend the wholtime tracking back. KK entrusted Jay for this role as we have no-one else bar Lucas. If we are honest these are young lads with potential but maybe there is someone out there to fit the bill right now. So answers/suggestions for the ideal (realistic!!!)player on a POSTcard and please don't crucify me as it is only a bit of banter to while away the time before we have some official news to celebrate.

Just a thought but what with the euro's being played next summer dont you think that some of the hi-profile players might just think playing for Liverpool will be better as not playing all those extra games in the champion's league or the europa league means that they wont be burnt out. I also think it would make them look so much better to fetching our great club back to its rightful place at the top of English football.

I think it is great for the future to sign all these young British players. It was how Man U built there team but I cant see it exciting Pepe as he is looking for success while he is in the team. I think he kas been told about 1 possibly 2 signings which would want him to stay. My money is on Alonso

=======================================

Don't know how old you are but it's to bed and return to this dream you just wrote. We have bid £8m for Enrique. We won't be signing Downing or Adam. More like Marveaux and either N'Zogbia or Mata (Mata preferred) along with Jones and Henderson.

Too right T-Dog, Sounds like Daniel has written a well thought out comment/rumour, no matter how old or young he may or may not be. Compared to some of the Bull posted daily it's very likely and not at all out of the realms of what could happen this summer.
The only thing I would be unsure of personally, is the amount of offers Liverpool F.C. had on there own current playing staff, fingers crossed and some will defo go but maybe not that whole list.
So Daniel, keep you posts coming and take no notice of LFC#1.

Liverpool will have to overcome interest from Arsenal and Manchester United and pay in excess of £17 million to sign the Blackburn defender Phil Jones.

HENERSON £20
JONES £18m
MATA £22M
DOWNING £16M

I feel like I have to say this but will people stop saying we need to buy british. I know here in england we believe english players are the pinnacle of the game but truth is they're not.
If we had englands starting 11 where would we be? Where the national team is, rubbish. Simple fact is english players are not as good as everyone thinks, otherwise the national would swat aside crap teams like swiss. Spain do it. Brazil do it. France do it. England don't. There are maybe 3 english players that would get into other national sides we own one and the other two are not available. All this talk of the amazing english players we could sign is nonesense. England and english players are overrated which is why foreign teams are never interested in them.

ed ! you expressed negative attitude about adel tarrabat rumour ! but he made 16 assists in championship , isn't he ?
if he is a ball hog than how he could make those assists.
i know he likes to dribble himself most of the time but still he is capable of winning set-pieces and scoring goals.
i think spending 40 mill for aguero or 18.5 mill for henderson is just useless when we can capture tarrabt by spending only more than 10 miil.who is more tricky and can make better impact cheaply ! {Ed001's Note - he is not a good player, he does a couple of things which make the highlight reel and is hated by his team mates. Try watching him play before you tell me he is great, because he is not, or even close to it. He gets assists because he takes every set piece, not because he passes the ball.}

07 Jun 2011 05:13:36
Does anyone think that with the interest in Enrique, Kenny plans to use Aurelio or Johnson there next year and have Enrique as a specialist back up option? I just can't see why we would be going for someone so sub-standard. Could this be the reason Ed?

LIVERPRES {Ed001's Note - I am unconvinced that Enrique will join us personally.}

07 Jun 2011 04:18:46
just wondering, the people saying "henderson not good enough", "wickham not good enough" and rating young players on their current performances rather than their potential. Are these the same people saying we can't sign older players because we should be looking to the future and it doesn't fit the FSG transfer policy.

Thick as two short planks some people.

07 Jun 2011 04:11:30
Seems likely that Henderson will become Liverpools first major signing of the summer. 18.5 million seems like a lot, but I'm sure he's prove to be a long term CM solution. It does however beg the question, who from the current CM's will suffer in terms of playing time.....Merieles, Spearing, Lucas, Shelvey? Jones from Blackburn is another likely signing, and one I beleive to be well thought out. CB cover and future stability will be needed after Kyriakos leaves, and Carragher hasn't too many seasons left. I sincerely hope we aquire Mata and Wickham also. Mata being the least likely. Well done KK for focusing on the ENGLISH game, and its future.

07 Jun 2011 03:50:59
Just because Liverpool do everything behind closed doors it doesn't mean the clubs they are negotiating with will not leak information.

07 Jun 2011 03:47:02
I would like to see Phil Jones at liverpool next season as much as any other supporter, but apart from being a slightly more polished tackler he doesn't show any more signs of potential than Danny Wilson, i'm not under-rating Jones by any means, i am just saying that from every minute i have seen of Wilson, he shows just as much potential and i firmly believe he will be as good, he is a slightly different style of player, but will be just as valuable, but in saying that i really feel Kelly should be moved above both of them in the pecking order for the CB position.

07 Jun 2011 03:41:47
Let's just stop the Gerrard to RM rumours, i can't believe people actually keep writing this, Mou has said he admires Stevie G, he has not shown "interest" in signing him, i'm sure KK admires Andres Iniesta, but that doesn't mean he's making a move for the player, let alone expecting the player to move.

07 Jun 2011 03:24:26
07 Jun 2011 00:20:38
OK lets get a grip now people, so far today people have said, from a source, that Liverpool will sign (attackers) Aguero, Wickham, Bojan, Benzema & Torres, & (midfield) Palacios, Adam, McCarthy, Henderson, Alonso, Witsel & Parker.
I must have forgotten that new premire league rule next season of 25-a-side. That way we can play 6 in CM & 5 up front. Perfect!

---------------------------------------

I really feel some people are struggling with the term "depth".

Great site and I mean, great site eds and all contributors. I reckon Dempsey could be a betternpurchase for a club this year than Vdv was for tottenham last year. .........................Raul Meireles
...Kuyt.................Andy Carrol.............Luis Suarez

Adam Johnson
Charlie Adams
Marveaux
Connor Wickham
Juan Mata

Ok so i dont see where Gerrard and Carragher would fit into this new look liverpool team. Isn't time to let them go. .

Personally I would give Eden Hazen £100m (all our transfer kitty) to play for us. Eden Hazen + Luis Suarez would be an unstopable force in the premiership.

While the rest of these players are ok, they are nothing special. LFC could pick them up next season or someone simalir will be along. Bit like a bus.

Eden Hazen Stats are amazing. He is a champions league player. Someone who will take premiership by storm.

..............Lucas..............Charlie Adams...............
.........................Raul Meireles
...Luis Suarez...........Andy Carrol.........Eden Hazen

That would be something special. althoug i don't like Andy Carrol as a striker. Just doesn't work with this liverpool team. His work rate, Movement, touch, attacking play seems out of balance. With one touch football lfc are looking to play.

Kenny dalglish will suprise us all with signings this summer. I definitely think we'll get mata but somethings telling me that there's going to be more than one marquee signing. Also i don't want liverpool to become arsenal who are obsessed with talented youngsters and win nothing. There needs to be a balance of young and experienced players. Tbh pepe reina gave a lot away as to what summer to expect.

is luis suarez the most skillful player we've had to liverpool

For the first time this summer, Arsenal are in a financail position to buy players again. The cost of the new stadium is almost behind them. + alisher usmanov

Wenger Seems to be in a position to spend big once again.

Not a rumour, but a fantasy probably... Torres, Xabi Alonso and Stevie G. together? Probably too much vodka but...wouldn't be so great to see them 3 plus Suarez and Mata or Turan or....Aguero? Never say NEVER ha ha. 3 world class signings plus 3 back up signings: young , Britsh players. As the The Reds fan this is what'e have missed: Torres, Alonso, Gerrard playing together . Don't kill me .

Is it just me, or do some of these players seem average compared to the likes of arsenal and Man utd. They seem to be going to quality players. We are buying rubbish. Apart from Juan Mata. Everyone on that list is at Aston Villa's level.

I think Phil Jones will be a good signing, but he is still too slow to play centre back in a attacking team like ours. Jordan Henderson doesnt seem any more better than J-Spearing. Adam Johnson nothing out of this world. We saw some wonderful football Suerz, Merelse and Maxi linking quick one touch football.

Shouldn't we go out and get aleast one more player that can big us that advantage. Something special to the midfield

Na mate, yot said we'd bid 8mil for Enrique.Its been rejected, it hasn't been accepted.So if Enrique aint coming cause Liverpool wont bid for a third time after doubling there 1st bid of 4 mil.More like Celtics left back or Vargas then Enrique.Was just a guy with a decent list but not to your taste, never mind i'll be gutted if most of your list is accepted. ED do you think, henderson, phil jones, mata, doni, marvaeux, and a 3rd striker maybe would help us in our push for the top 4 and title challenge??? and what about everyone else, , , , , , click bel for yes and unbel for no. and comment on any of them players. {Ed001's Note - yes, they would significantly improve the squad.}

07 Jun 2011 01:13:07
So with the Doni deal as he's on high wages at Roma, I guess he'll be taking a hefty pay-decrease to join us as a bit-part goalkeeper, or simply to give Pepe competition in goalkeeping. If that's the case with Aquaman returning to Roma, I think that's a good deal really, I'd rather we dealt with Roma rather than Juve as they seem a real pain to deal with. With Doni coming in does that mean Brad Jones is going out, along with Gulacsi on loan or something along those lines? Cheers.

Alex {Ed001's Note - Jones was leaving anyway, hence the search for a back up keeper, Gulasci is now free to go out on loan.}

I have to say I really like how our summers seems to be shaping up and what our strategy will be in terms of transfers. It seems like for the most part Kenny likes out first 11, other than leftback. So I think the play seems to be to sign a good, starting caliber leftback. Which we desperately need.

Then it seems like we are targeting young, up and coming players who can provide depth to our starters for now and in the coming years move into the starting 11. Guys like Wickham, Henderson, Phil Jones. Players like this can give us good depth in the coming season and move in to more prominent roles as they age.

Having said that I truly do believe that FSG are more than willing to spend big on the right player should he become availible. Im not thinking anyone specific but I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if there is one marquee signing that no one expects and will make us all say "wow, I didn't think we'd get someone this good."

Liverpool will be signing alot of young British talent to replace the players that will indefinitely leave this summer. Players that will be signing are Doni Marangon (unknown fee) Jose Enrique 7.4 Million, Jordan Henderson 18 Million, Phil Jones 14 Million, Stuart Downing 16 Million, Charlie Adam 12 Million amd from Valencia in Spain Juan Mata for 21 Million.

Don't know how old you are but it's to bed and return to this dream you just wrote. We have bid £8m for Enrique. We won't be signing Downing or Adam. More like Marveaux and either N'Zogbia or Mata (Mata preferred) along with Jones and Henderson.

you say he is young and is dreaming but you basically write exactly what he writes. Stop being an a**hole.

The point I'm making is like most people on here, they talk s**t until solid news comes out n make out they "knew all about it weeks ago" and "we're going to sign.." "sell him" etc when really they are probably 13 and have clue at all. I have been saying my list for at least 14 days. I am not taking to these Mata rumours I can't see him coming to England.

Listen, for all you who are saying "DON'T BUY THESE BRITISH PEOPLE THEY ARE OVERRATED AND OVERPRICED" snap back to reality... We want a FUTURE not just a PRESENT. Going young and british is definitely better than going for the young spanish ones who will want to go back to spain when they ahve used us to become more popular. Come on guys. If we sign Henderson, Wickham and Phil jones we have them for 10 years! In that time they can prove themselves to be the best players! Liverpool did this in 1987 and we were just about unbeatable back then!

Just wondering eds, if we did still go in for K Honda where would you think he would be played, cause not sure if he's a CM or CAM. cheers ozred {Ed001's Note - he can play anywhere, he played well at left back when I saw him in Dutch football and had a great World Cup as a target man! Your guess would be as good as mine where he would end up playing, especially considering we have seen Shelvey brought on to play as a left back for us last season!}

07 Jun 2011 00:31:14
Ed is Doni actually signing? What does this mean for Reina? {Ed001's Note - Reina is number one, Doni is being, hopefully, brought in to provide competition.}

07 Jun 2011 00:21:36
Aguero would place a horrible strain on LFC with the wages he demands along with a price tag of 40m.

Would sleep better if we signed Wickham for 10m on 50k a week.

Perfect!

07 Jun 2011 00:19:17
Ed it seems to be true that we are in talks with Donizetti after agreeing a fee! You said that your source came back with lol when you asked him about this. With this in mind what would you expect us to pay for a 31 year old back up keeper? {Ed001's Note - I really don't know, but I would doubt it would be anything more than 5m at the very most.}

Good mates with posh goalie Joe Lewis and he told me he is having medical at Liverpool tomorrow morning

Why would Liverpool be buying Joe Lewis, when it everywhere about us signing Doni, Please get off Football Manager. You're not good mates with Joe Lewis so please get a grip on your life.

I think its funny how people are now saying that "Liverpool will get Doni from Roma" after its already all over the internet and on official websites, ie sports italia etc. When we sign another player who no one has mentioned, it will be the same again. Bloody Hendersons name didnt get mentioned until the bid had gone in. Sorry for the rant eds, but it stops being a rumour once a bid is made, then its public knowledge.

I would LIKE us to get some of these players mentioned on this site, but I just want us to get the right player. I dont care if its £5 million or £50 million, as long as they fit into the team. We could see from the matches when KK took over, that the players who played worked hard, could play one touch football, got the ball down & played it. The likes of Cole, Poulson & Jovanovic take too many touches & cannot just play simple football. All the players liverpool will get will be able to do the job which the are bought for, regardless of the cost & our opinion, the only person whos opinion counts is that of the manager, cos only he knows shat he wants.

Henderson, NZogbia & Wickham I can see happening quickly as the bids are alreday in.
I dont see us getting another CM then until Aqualani or Meireles have been sold.
Maybe one CB, but I feel he will be more experienced that Jones from Blackburn. As I feel Kelly will be pushed inside as Flanagan has come through.
LB, my choice would be Cissoko or Baines, but failing that it would be the kid from Celtic, I dont care what league that lad plays in, he must have done something right to get player of the year from LB.
I feel we might get another striker, but again an older one, ie. Anelka. Just someone who we can use for a season or 2 while they see how Morgan comes on & to give Wickham time.
I would prefer Johnson to Young or Downing, but from what you read it looks like Downing will be the main choice.
Then theres the case of Mata. I would love us to get him, but will just wait and see.
There will also be the odd free transfer & lower priced transfer, but I feel people need to understand that Liverpool need to buy yound & older players to get the mix right.

So i've taken my winnings and signed Aguero for myself. Cheers people.
