how long will enrique be out of the team and is it worth transfering him out of my fantasty

I'm not sure about your prioritys pal...

Myk

He is also in mine- shall i replace him this week- come on Ed this is important- on a more serious note I find it very hard to fathom how LFC fans can include Man Utd players in their team- I know its a fantasy league but as true red .. I just cannot get myself to do it.

07 Feb 2012 22:27:22
Not a rumour but ed can u answer why enrique wasnt in the squad last night was he injured or just rested and do u expect him to play Saturday?

also these rumours of johnson leaving true?

LFCHero :)! {Ed001's Note - injured his hamstring and Johnson is available for transfer if the right offer is made.}

Hi eds and Reds,

just want to get peoples opinions on a couple of signings id think would be good for the club;

Seamus Coleman : can play right back or right midfield, i think him and kelly would give us a strong right side to to the team, this is if Glen Johnson as reportedly leaves in the summer.

Stephen Ward:no I am not picking all irish players ! but he can play left back - cover for Enrique, natural left footer, and cover for Downing, as a natural left foot, would see him as a squad player, Aurelio isnt getting any younger, Wilson and Robinson need a little more game time

Gonzalo Higuain: okay this is my mega signing, probably not a chance in hell of it happening, but i think a Suarez-Carroll-Higuain, would scare the living bejaysus out of a;ot of teams, hes a natural finisher.

So what your thoughts fols?

Rebel_Red

Hey ur well off the mark if u think stephen ward wud do a job for us im irish but no chance

Why come on here and even mention them id say never maybe higuain 1% chance so do us a favour

I love King Kennys press conference. The media love having a go at us so its just so great that we have a manager that loves the club and stands up for everything that is Liverpool. I mean Hodgson was all lovey dovey with Fergie and it was sick to see. Kenny takes no messing and we need fighters at our great club.

The media do have an obsession with Andy Carroll and KK says we have a squad not one player. I believe that everybdy hates us because they know that we are on the verge of something big. If we become hated i coudnt careless as it will mean we are successful. There is only man to bring the glory days back and he is King Kenny lets hope he upsets a few more along the way.

Mighty reds

Well said Mighty reds. I love his interviews too. The press cant stand Liverpool anyway so they can get stuffed.

Totally agree with you mate. The way we've been treated by the press, personally I'm proud of the way kenny responds in the press conferences. He is a class act, pure and simple. I'm proud of him, and what he has done, and is prepared to do for his club. He is selfless in that regard. I'm proud of his defence of Suarez, and also of the way he defended the team for wearing the tshirts. The press conferences are his way of telling them to h*** off when they ask stupid questions. He's his own man, and he is proud, and so he should be. He has my full support. Nick

I wouldnt go as far as to call it hatred , more like simpletons in the press asking the easy same old stupid questions, looking for a headline. I love the way kenny doesnt give them an inch. some people on the outside say he's paranoid and aggresive, but as you say, he's just standing up for the club.

Dara D

Top post mate, couldn't agree more. Don't understand why people take such interest in the biggest Liverpool critics, they criticise for a reaction, and by reacting you are giving them satisfaction. Love KK's pre-match interview, absolute quality.

Long live the King!

Jatt YNWA

Kenny has got the press exactly where he wants them. They ask stupid questions knowing he will give deadpan answers and speak down to them - and he is only to happy to oblige.

He replied to a question about the referee in the spurs game "next question". He got slated for that response, but managers get grief for having their opinion on a ref so why should they have to answer questions on them? I love his interviews aswell, he is a legend plain and simple!

Myk

All the negative press really pi**es me off, even here in South Africa, newspapers and writers go on and on about the Suarez thing, all lot being syndicated from the UK.
No doubt, plenty will be written before the manc game.
I just ignore it.
There are more important things for me to think about, like which beer I will buy to celebrate the win, and hat-trick by Luis, and off course the sending off of Evra.
Rock on the Reds.
Food for thought.

DID SAF get grief for refusing to speak to the BBC for years....No. SAF claims that everyone should have an opinion....so why slate Kenny for expressing his, being honest and defending the club? He could have done a whisky nose and refused to talk to the press but he is a bigger man than that.

Silver lining is that all this negativity from the press might instill a siege mentality in the players. Come on lads!

but Liverpool FC must go on and I feel that my subscription benefits the club so I will continue it with no guilt. Im proud to be Liverpool supporter because of what the club represents and the ethos it work under and I fell really offended that you question my morals with your statement

I'm a Virgin Media man myself. Dosn't mean much but I remember me and Ed002 having a similar discussion, over a year ago about this (News Corp).

Remember Ed002?

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96 {Ed002's Note - I remember Ed002. Nice guy.}

Sorry Ed002, it wasn't you mate. It was my old friend 'Sharkey'. That guy couldn't half talk BS and thought he knew it all. Which to be fair, he probably thought he did. lol

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96 {Ed001's Note - oh he certainly did!}

Blair mate I wonder what ever happened to Sharky I remember u blowing him outta the water a few times lol..
Quick one man an ed001 if u have a minute, what's the view on kennys press conferences me personally I love them. It seems like some people are starting to loose faith in our king. Really can't understand it myself

Quigz23 {Ed001's Note - it is because it goes over their heads, they don't understand what they are seeing.}

in all honesty i myself think there seems to be a conspiracy against liverpool f.c. and it started more when kenny came back.and its mainly down to fergie that man hates this club with a passion. and as done the best he can to provoke his f.a. into getting everyone against us.due to the fact his s**tting himself knowing king ken will bring back our glory.i say carry on the liverpool way get behind everthing thrown at us cos justice will provail and we will be kings of europe the world again.up the liver stuff the dirt.ynwa

If there is any conspiracy its against arsenal face the fact liverpool are becoming more hated than man utd

Eds, are the Liverpool pages the most used pages on the site? I have just been on the Spurs page but there is only three posts in three days.

FT {Ed002's Note - The Liverpool page is by far the most used. At this time of year the banter will be busier than the rumour pages.}

Hi eds,
Do you think we can sign Marko Marin or Christian Eriksen without a champions league qualification?

Not eriksen and 95% we could sign marin and 5% we couldent without champs league

Either I'm getting paranoid or the media are just totally against Liverpool at every opportunity. The commentators on Sky Sports couldn't stop mentioning about Spurs's weak side due to all the injuries, implying we can't even beat a weakened team.

If you say that it is a toss up between Dawson and Kaboul as to who's first choice, they were actually only without 2 players from their strongest 11, Lennon and Van der Vaert. Ok, Defoe was injured too but he has not been a regular. There was no mention that we were without 2 of our best players in Lucas and Eneique. Also, Gerrard still only 75% fit after a long time out and Suarez not starting either due to lack of match fitness. Maybe they forgot about all that.

I'm actually quite confident that we will make 4th place. 4 points is not a lot to make up over 14 games, especially when nobody seems capable of a long unbeaten run. I think we are getting players back, with others hitting form at last and we are easily capable of gaining more points than Chelsea, Arsenal and Newcastle. Once Downing decides to come to the party, I think we will be able to have a strong run in to clinch 4th place, with at least 1 and hopefully 2 Cups in the bag.

That will constitute a good season, with massive potential to improve next year.

redmersey

I thought the same, saying we had a few years of being protected by the media with Steve and Owen speaking dives..

I agree mate, spurs only really had 2 players out that is lennon and van der vaart / defoe as only one of them would have played

Same as the Man Utd game vs chelsea that chelsea team was so weak without terry, cole, ramirez, lampard. Bosingwa was left back, essien coming back from long injury, malouda a waste and torres past it

United only really had vidic and nani out but the media make it out like they have over half the team out

Its definitely the case. The media resent the fact that Dalglish won't play ball. They also cant stand the fact that we have our own way of doing things and opinions that dont fit with their pretty view of the world. Football is big business and we are rocking their boat by standing up to the FA and ignoring the consequences. We were around long before Sky and they cant handle it. They are the distribution vehicle, we are the product and they cant handle the fcat that people crave the product, not how they get it. I hope Liverpool stand firm and stay true to what they believe. Man Utd, Chelsea et al sold out long ago. Its fantastic that we dare to be different. Siege mentality? Hell yes. Bring em on!

Well said last poster

Totally agree! The match started at 7pm on Sky kick off at 8pm and for 45 minutes they spoke about united! FHS!! And if people think Kenny is being abrupt in interviews then you need to give your head a wobble! He sees how much negative press we get! He gets asked the same question over and over again! He's not backwards in coming forward! Think most of us would react the same if we were in his position watching his and our beloved club dragged through the mud! But in all of this we as a whole stick together we become one force to be reckond with! You'll never walk alone and let every tabloid know that! Sorry for the rant!

Runcorn Red!

No need to apologise Runcorn mate. That was a very good rant, well said.

Yesterdays result was a little disappointing I have to admit, as I felt with Spurs having key players out due to injury that they were there for the taking. It seemed our quality in the final third again was missing, but have to stress that it is not all doom and gloom on the hunt for 4th spot, although we didn't help our cause.

I have been critical of Glen Johnson and rightly so but credit when credit is due he played well last night at left back. I still feel that Kelly should be a regular and if Glen Johnson was moved in the summer I wouldn't lose sleep. I feel AC is improving a lot recently and played well against Spurs and on the whole I was happy with his performance but he should of tucked he chance away. For me Spearing has done well in the absence of Lucas but had a poor game with a number of wayward passes.

Another thing that I just find ridiculous is people saying that maybe we should sell Saurez and bring in another striker now seriously!! don't you think we should be adding to our squad (with quality acquisitions) may I add not squad players instead of offloading one of our star players.

Yes he hasn't scored the number of goals we have expected but his other attributes should not be overlooked. Saurez simply makes things happen, also look at his strike rate for Uruguay and Ajax, the guy knows where the back of the net is so I have no doubt about that. I don't know why I even need to defend him it is clear that the guy is something special. I know football fans can be fickle but reading these post just beggars belief.

Saurez has to play at Old Trafford at some point and we clearly need points and don't have the luxury of Man City to just leave key players out and still get a result against decent opposition. Before people jump on that last statement we are capable of beating the top teams with Saurez but why take that risk when we would benefit from including him in the team. So I feel we should include him in the squad on Saturday and not only that he should start.
LFC4LIFE

I would agree with everything apart from the weakened tottenham side, put of their strongest starting line up Lennon and van de vaart were the only ones not playing, back 5 is their best, bale/modric/parker/adebayour all 1stXI...

Then look at ours Lucas/enrique out so both had 2 key players missing. Suarez hadn't played for 9 marches and only came on half way through second half.

So here is the bold statement coming! I would say that we had the weakened team relative to tottenhams!

If you want to shoot down this said statement. Would be glad to partake in some verbal sparring.

Regards

Hello Ed002,
as there are no transfer news or rumours, just a quick word on...."the best LFC passer" in the game vs Spurs - Charlie Adam. So what that he hit 69 passes, so what that he had 92 touches, so what that he was the most accurate passer with 87 per cent complation rate? Most of his passes were to the nearest team-mate and towards his own goal!!! He was poor, just as was Gerrard. The lack of goals may cost LFC CL spot. That will be dissapointed. Lets keep our faith that, as KK says, the goals wil come. Lets win at United!! Burry their title dreams and renew our 4th spot hopes!!

If you think that keeping possesion of the ball makes Gerrard and Adam poor I suggest you never watch a Barcelona game - you will be in for a disappointment.

JRG

I thought some of his long balls yesterday were immense.

Realistic red

Gerrard was poor!? Are you for real? Gerrard was immense, especially first half...

Gerrard was average. He's had his day now

spurs fan here. Just wondering what you guys think of kenny's press conferences? last night he was so paranoid that he even took offence at a question that was designed to praise Carroll! And then he opened up about suarez again. Do you guys think (like us sometimes with redknapp) that he would just be better keeping his mouth shut? or don't you mind?

To be honest mate I l love Kenny's press conference. He's so coy in interviews with the press. He never gives anything away unlike your harry lol. The media treat the club like crap and Kenny knows this so why bother treating them any better.

Quigz23

I would not say Kenny is Paranoid but he has had to deal with a lot of flak about Carrol and Suarez he is doing a good job at LFC the only man for the job IMO,

MJ

It would be better if Kenny talked more pleasantly and looked less boorish

This interview attitude of Kenny is becoming booooring and serves no purpose just to allienate the media further and make a bigger stick for his back, its not the smart thing to do he should go learn some NLP.

Talking about this last night he seems overly terse.Pressure?

Agree totally, and it gives me no pleasure to say that. Problem is , it does Suarez no favours and justre ignited the issue.Seperate issue, I know there has been an ongoing debate re Glen Johnson, but I thought he gave a very good performa, nce at left back

Kenny has become a liability in press conferences. He sounds too defensive and should listen to the questions openly before answering rather than quip with a pre-determined defensive response.

He is also unnecessarily sarcastic.

Its beginning to create a negative reputation for the club. Also the dimwits who blindly defend the indefensible and behave like tribal warriors on internet discussions are not helping LFC's rep either. Defend the club, but also be prepared to criticise it too.

Kenny was my hero as a child and I want him to be again but he (and the rest of the club) need to get some simple media training before they next face a camera.

And he should quit talking about the Suarez ban - its over. Accept it and progress. Stop stewing in bitterness - or he might end up sounding like an Evertonian.

King Tubby

I do understand what yr sayin regarding the Carroll question but we've had such a bad ride off the press and sky some of it not helped by our own fans mind you that he's rearing them with the contempt they deserve really Iam made up with what he said about Suarez though but maybe kenny can be little less defensive on certain questions. From the outside lookin on yr side mate I think Harry gets a good ride off the press I wouldn't of thought u would have any concerns on that score

Cheers kopman

Who cares if Kenny seemed tense at the press conference... He might have been dying for a wee?
Honestly, Kenny sees the press as a neccesary evil and in my opinion he can treat them with the same contempt that they have treated LFC with this year in all manner of issues. 20 yrs ago you had gutter press and then papers that could be seen as worth a read.... not any more.
Apart from a very small number of journo's (winter, barrett, smith, evans etc) the rest are not worth bothering with.
The problem they have with kenny is that he is a genuine legend of the game and is far too smart for them. They cant have a go at him about the team because the improvement from last season is there for all to see, so they try to get at him in different ways, just look at how the press gorged themselves over the suarez case and pretty much have not stopped since trying to besmirch the clubs name ever since.
I knew the minute the terry case blew up that these same journalists who hanged suarez and the club for their stance would use the "innocent until proven guilty" approach to try and protect terry and their stance on it.
HIPPOCRITES HIPPOCRITES HIPPOCRITES
I was going to put Paddy Barclay on that list of good journo's until he was on talksport saying that "innocence until proven guilty is one of the most important principles we have in this country" and then his next sentence said that " The FA distinguished itself well in the Suarez case"
When an experienced journalist cant see what a load of hippocritical balls they have just spouted then it is time to run for the hills.
Matron pass me my revolver..... I'm going for a walk in the woods!
jonnybarnes89-90
p.s I was happy with last night apart from the result obviously. We need some extra creativity in a couple of areas. Carroll,Glen,Martin were very good. Kuyt and Adam not so good.... but hey ho!

I for one love KK's pre and after match press conferences. Lets be honest here your dammed if you do and your dammed if you don't, Kenny and every Liverpool supporter knows that the press/TV are in it to have a dig at LFC at any opportunity. We beat Arsenal and Chelsea away, then the current top 3 gain a draw at Anfield and it's because they ALL played badly, Not that LFC played well! The scum lose at home to Blackburn and hardly a word is said, we draw against them and the world is coming to an end according to the Press/media.....Yes we have drawn more than we should have at home, but a couple of exceptions aside we have played some great stuff at home without a true return. Kenny know's the press are out to condem LFC and his only interest is the Club, players and most importantly us the Fans!! h what the press/TV have to say, do you really care what the rat GN has to say, or A Durham or Sky? I don't, and it sure looks like KK don't - TMac

Sorry guys, disagree completely. My position on Kennys mood last night after the game was that he was his usual self with short sharp retorts until the journo asked the question about Suarez being back and KK's comment that he shouldn't have been away in the first place. If you listen there is a comment from KD and the Club PR team saying we are here to talk about tonights game and as the journo persists with a variation on what we wanted to say in th first place, some dumbass question about will Suarez form improve now he's back. KD becomes impatient and annoyed with the apparent waste of a question and time. The club do not want further discusssion on the matter so close to the match at the weekend and are trying to move on. It is the media that are prolonging the discussion where it is no necessary.
The reality is that we will be targetted for a while now by the media and UTD camp until the furore dies down and the Terry is due. Any comments about racism or any misdemeanour by Suarez will be sensationalised and somehow linked to our clubs apparent player indiscipline or ignorant fans.

Paranoia?

Maybe this is good for our psyche and KD is beating Taggart at his own game by creating a siege mentality within our club to harden and galvanise our squad ;-)

Looking forward to the match at the weekend with les anxiety than before the Slurs match

Come on the Redmen!

SwissRed

Kenny knows what hes doing on an interview , like when he came out and said we were not buying any 1st team players , i for one thought he was having people on , thats why the press hate him

Mourinho to become next England Manager

The english FA have said they would much like an english man to be the engerland manager, where is Mo from?

Engerland is just down from Scotland

In theory we have all the players needed to play Rafa Benitez tactics. It may of been boring football, but rafa did manage to get champions league football with it.

I place all the Blame with José Enrique role at the club.

We need a better attacking RBK, LBK, everyone knows the best attacks come from fullbacks

Are you mad enrique been are best player consistantly this season

Thiis gentleman is mad.

Enriques superb, had slight dip but excellent

Has to be a joke lads

Right, just watched the Spurs match on tele for the first time.

Something what the commentators said really caught my attention when Suarez came on.

It was after bales Olympic gold standard dive, Suarez went over pretty easily and the commentator after laughing said something like "He went over easy as usually does".

Now, i don't know about everyone else but they seem to highlight foreingers 'dives' more than British players.

KT!

Ahoy - fully agree the standard of commentary is awful and it is usually former players who cannot hide their loyalties.

Ray Wilkins is abysmall, he doesn't even hide his Chelsea bias, and his voice could bore a glass eye to sleep.

However one of my favourites is "Mystic" Trevor Francis, just listen next time he is commentating it's quality, he can see the future

TF - "I said 14 years ago when he was 12 Wayne Rooney would tweet a ridiculous comment whilst banned for the Euro's"

TF "I said before the game Alan, that there would 9 corners in the first 20 minutes"

TF " I said just before half time Alan, that Redturk would make a ridiculous comment"

Add into the mix Alan Smith - awful, if Arsene Wenger poisoned 156 pensioners, Old Smithy would find the positives.

But my all time favourite is Gary Lineker continually patronising Alan Shearer on MOTD with the phrase "well done Alan" or "well said Alan" after he has made his comments - priceless

BOILED ONIONS

Agree but ild say its more Suarez over others!

Shaquiri to Bayern Munich...£7.5m...Why on earth did we not go for him, he has got to be better than Kuyt, Henderson, Downing and Adam yet we did not even look interested in a player of he's quality! WHY OH WHY?

Because he's a ball hog, lazy and completley overrated.

KT!

Cos he's fat !
The Real KB

He still made Utd look like a pub team, He would of been usefull

MJ

Because he wants to join a club that win trophy and to play in the champion league

Ross

Everyone judged him when he played against Man utd that time...do YOU know his full story. Stop insinuating LFC know nothing about transfers, it's getting on my nerves.

He is just stocky and heavily muscled. Think of Jonah Lomu. Think he would give us something different in attack. Let's be honest we could do with a few more attacking players.

07 Feb 2012 17:48:30
only caught the second half last night but from what i saw was very impressed.adam and carroll looked to be improving.carroll looking his old self and adam not hacking any one and playing his old game.was not even worried about spurs when they attacked.yes we drew but i was happy with it.the players looked hungry they all want to play for us and are happy with being rotated.looks like they are settling in well.im liking the project weve got and with a few more additions in the summer to add that quality we will challenge next season.people have got to remember we want players who want to play for are club not money grabbers.iam happy at the moment the clubs in great hands and with the king in charge i know its only time till we win it.the media witch hunt is only because they are scared of the red steam train dominating for years to come.
DORSET RED

Next year again I see , face it , its not going to happen , you had your years in the sunshine but now the tan is fading , get used to it , take off the rose tinted glasses and realise you are not the force you once were !

Much love

Much Love we all know we are not the force we once where but you have to face the facts we are Gelling well and attacking all the time once our players start finding the back of the net we will beat most teams after all we have proven it against Utd and City and were very unlucky against Spurs...The future is bright the future is LFC

MJ

Adam very average mate

07 Feb 2012 17:39:47
Eds any idea why Jonjo Shelvey is not getting a chance at the moment? He's got what we need, a midfield runner and abit of creativity {Ed019's Note - No, sorry. Maybe Kenny thinks he is not ready?}

Shelvey was not even on the subs bench

If Adam is deemed as ready and Shelvey isn't, then Guaranga lord help us

07 Feb 2012 17:39:07
Shame it was a draw last night but IMO Spurs passing was better than ours, but that was about it we had more attack, more of everything really, I think Bellamy should of been used as a striker tho he seemed to blend into the back ground and wasnt used in his full capacity and Luis should of had Kuyts place from the start, shame Suarez and Carrol missed their shots, but all in all we where the better team

P.S I think we should give Bale Actor of the year for the Dive against Agger he missed him by about 7 inches...Hilarious

MJ

Bale was a disgrace.Parker and Modric very irritating behaviour also

As I am a professional transfer scientist I usually save my post for the transfer window but I have a little bit of info about last nights cat. Check out my post from December.

15 Dec 2011 15:50:16
BREAKING NEWS

Silly season is here again and it is time for me to pass on the 100% rock solid information that I have received from my whopper source, who is a big player in the world of making $h1t up. It appears we will definatly sign Gaston Rameirez, I know we are linked with all Uruguayan players but this one seems to have a bit of legs to it. Now as most people will know the Uruguayan team are based at clubs all over the world, as a result of this they have to do a lot of travelling for the international team, in order to make this a little easier players are encouraged to bring their pets on the road with them, now Luis is a cat man, so too in Rameiriz, and while away on international duty Luis' cat Pistelero got very comfortable with Gaston's cat Tiddles, they had a couple of milks 1 thing led to another and now there are kittens involved. Gaston Rameiriez is willing to come to Liverpool to make his cat happy, he also feels Luis and Pistelero should share in the responsibilities that a full litter of kittens brings, and with Luis' behaviour under scrutiny at the moment the club don't want him to be seen as a man who helped break up a happy family of cats, so they are willing to spend what ever it takes to make sure this is not the case. This is 100% true, straight from the cats mouth!

Samson Rasher

The cat last night was indeed Luis Suarez's cat Pistelero, he was protesting about the witch hunt against Luis, apparently there will be more and more cats at Liverpool matches. Just a quick update on the Gaston Ramierez transfer, it fell through after all 7 of Tiddles' kitenns were adopted by loving families although 1 tragically died in a chair related incident.

Samson Rasher

Well done rasher!

Will sterling become new bale and suso new modric? Have they talent or lions on paper?

Could you not think of and players who are a bit more classy than Bale or Modric cos they didnt look all that special last night

MJ

Sterling will be massive a potential world class talent with speed in abundance, and Suso also has the potential to become a top class player. The only problem is do the powers that be at Liverpool realise or even care. I only say this because because as young as Sterling is he's good enough already for our first 11, put it this way who do we have in the starting 11 faster on the wing and attack minded as he is?

The wizards sleeve...

Certainly hope won't turn into Gareth 'dive' bale! They for me will be top quality players over time. The Liverpool academy conveyer belt is running smoothly!

Realistic red

Wizard mate are you serious mate neither of them lads could play regular first team football. They are nowhere strong enough an would be caught out because of this. Rooney for example he's alot bigger and stronger hence he was ready so early. IMO I would Maybe give a couple of subs at the end of the season depending on our position come then and look at the situation and then decide on loans for experiance or first team.

Just my opinion.

Quigz23

Quigz37, you make a strong case, but I remember a skinny Michael Owen and a Robbie Fowler and a stickman called Mcmanamam all playing for the starting 11 at a tender age and it didn't do any of them any harm did it...

The wizards sleeve...

Suppose mate although you could say Owen and macca suffered from that given all the injuries they had and in fairness Fowler is god regardless. You could argue that being brought in so early could have attributed to the long term fitness issues they suffered throughout there careers.

i have to say that our performances are becoming useless with these players and manager. i thought we were going to trash spurs for what happened last time, but instead another draw. now we have to wait to get our revenge. why on earth did kenny put spearing in that team?. skirtel is useless, we have no pace apart from bellamy and he is our best player (free transfer). we will get nothing out of our next game. also why would i care about the carling cup, it means nothing. winning the trophy still won't hide the fact that newcastle and spurs are above us in the league. what a joke. i know its negative but i just can't stand the draws and clueless performances from the team.

This post is a joke.

PDUK

Newcaslte & Spurs above us in the league? Well theres your answer - go & support them! ... & I'll tell you what is a 'joke' YOU not leaving a name!

dd

Spurs were the most negative team I've seen come to anfield this season.I agree there's to many draws this season at home but if parking the bus what do you expect?

The last time we played Spurs they totally outplayed us and won 4-0, and you seriously thought we were gong to 'trash' them? Skrtel useless? He's improved more than any other player since KK came in and is probably one of the best defenders in the league now. Why should you care about the Carling Cup? Because your a fan, and you want to see Stevie G waving a cup about I would have hoped. Rome wasn't built in a day. -SH-

Some of what you says true. But Skrtels been excellent last few weeks

I posted the first comment. cmon guys this is spurs. a team that took our 4th place, have fans that say rubbish about us and have hardly won any throphies. we have over 100 million pounds worth of players who can't peform. we should be thrashing teams such as newcastle and spurs. also we should destroy lesser teams, instead too many draws. i expect us to get destroyed by utd this week, unless kenny stops using his stupid tactics and stop putting players such as spearing, shelvey (why he came back is beyond me) etc. i said skirtel is bad because of mistakes he makes aswell as adam. both also useless. im know that this is another negative comment, but i am just mad that we couldn't even get revenge against spurs.

Go see a head doctor mate, Spearing has improved massively with game time and has been playing well for us and deserves his place. Skrtel has been great this season playing with Agger, Shelvey has potential and was needed as cover. We dont have a god given right to beat teams like Spurs who on their day are a quality outfit. We came close.....and are you instantly forgeting the games prior to this fixture? Just to remind people....we're in the final of 1 cup still in the other and still in the race for 4th.... frankly that will do me....its 2012 football has moved on and the prem is far FAR more competative then it has ever been!

Jesus some people......

So your saying that spearing and skirtel has potential even though we get beat by lesser teams?. carling cup is nothing. i said it before and i say it again, spurs and newcastle are above us in the league! , that is embarrassing. i know we are going to get beaten by utd this week. where is rafa when we need him?.

I'm very much looking forward to the game against manchester united as it is the last encounter between the two clubs this season. The result is going to be what it is going to be, but I doubt I'll be able to watch the whole thing. Don't get me wrong, I am as passionate about Liverpool FC as I have ever been but I am tired of this whole mess. I enjoy the game of football, but the spirit of this fixture is just toxic. We clearly bring the worst out of each other, and I have a feeling things will boil over at OT. I don't trust the FA, don't trust the refs, don't even trust myself so I won't be posting anything after / about the game and I most certainly don't trust the two sets of players around each other. I know I will enjoy all the remaining games of the season, just not that one.

You start by saying you are looking forward to the game and end by saying you won't like the game... Top post

G BOX

The main idea is that it is the last time the two clubs meet. I'm just looking forward for the whole thing to be over and done with. If the game goes by without a damaging incident, I'll be relieved. However, I have a feeling someone will grossly misbehave. That's all I tried to say. Sorry, if it wasn't clear.

Ed I sent a post to SKY sports giving out stink about the witch hunt against liverpool and not even mentioning Gareth Bale the diving ****er. They never showed it amazingly : )
I love this site you can get whatever you want off your chest and the eds will post it. I am cancelling my sky sports over last night. I am so disgusted with them . What did you think Ed? {Ed001's Note - I don't see how any Liverpool fan can morally justify paying for Sky, when it is owned by the Murdochs.}

I don't ed my missus pays for it : ) I just watch it

Agreed Ed.

dd

Morals f**k up will you we would never put petrol in our cars or use electricity if we where to take the moral high ground, is watching streaming not robbery , you have no right to question peoples loyalty to Liverpool by the fact they subscribe to sky the world is bigger than Liverpool FC and I do not intend to disrespect the 96 who died but don t try to control others with guilt we are free to choose and we can be real Liverpool supporters after all how much does L.F.C get paid from sky? is L.F.C one of the clubs that benefit most from the the deal they sky have B.P.L

Sadly tho Ed it is the only way most people can watch the footie, It is ridiculous how biased it is and i wish a liverpool company would create a sky/cable option so the fans can watch Lfc without funding those muppets

MJ
{Ed001's Note - how is it the only way? There is streaming available online. As to the muppet above, grow up with your childish little nonsensical rant with no relevance. I gave an opinion, you are just a child who is throwing his toys out of his pram because you disagree and aren't mentally capable of formulating an argument against what I said.}

I have sky, but I don't pay for it ;)

MIKEY

Of course you are right regards the tricky aspect of morals. But I don't subscribe to 'Sky' based on similar reasons for not buying tabloids, the dumbing down, the stirring & a general ruthlessness to make money rather report a truth.

dd

And! they never mentioned Bale was offside for his chance

A child LOL. Liverpool FC benefit Directly from our subscriptions to sky in fact they probably benefit more from that then they do from us buying replica jerseys my real argument is that what give you the right to say people are morally corrupt just because of the fact they have sky subscription.If no L.F.C fans subscribe to sky they wont be shown and their income will suffer and thus their spending power and in turn their success I feel it perfectly fine for us to enjoy Liverpool FC on sky I know of and understand the hurt that the sun caused the families and communities that suffered during and after Hillsborough {Ed002's Note - I am sorry but Sky has a contract where they have to show all sides, and when subscribing to Sky you do not need to declare who you support.}

I understand that you do declare who you support but there is market research and demographics and Im going look for the piece I read about how L.F.C where one the most or one of the most Live shown clubs and in turn that generated a lot of money Look I apologize for using the F word but I have explained my reason but you cant deny How L.F.C benefit from the sky deal . {Ed016's Note - I think perhaps all of this is a sensitive subject and should be approached in such a way when talking about it. Sky Sports is a branch of Newscorp. Which is owned by Rupert Murdoch. Thankfully after moving to Canada I do not have to pay for sky. Niether would I watch a pre-kickoff match with Gary Neville. I just would be scared my tv would break}

I do struggle with the Neville thing

i hate man utd but to start booing someone who has nothing to do with what happened is just really pathetic.

all the people that talk about having TORRES back, just look at some of his goals on youtube he use to run at the defence and run past them as well as skilling them on, now look at him he has made more assists than goals, what does that say about him as a striker

07 Feb 2012 16:11:42
when people talk about not having the physique to be in the premier league just have a look at theo walcott.

Yeh, hes rubbish!

Walcott is now 22, 23 in March. He's been lucky with injuries so far.
But Sterling is what, 17 ?
He hasn't developed in to a man yet, his body's still growing. What if he did play and got crocked for 6 months ?
That time would be better off spent allowing to develop gradually and get stronger, not lying up at home in a plaster cast for instance. If he continues to progress like he is doing, then at some point after next season, he will have to get some playing time in the big team. But not yet, for me.
The Real KB

He mite be the reason why people say so

Perhaps a bad example in walcott, being as he's useless, silva, mata and modric might have been better!

Last night was typical of our season so far....dominate the game and not put the opposition away....(it must of cost us around 12 pionts this season).....its obvious that we need a pacey and creative right winger with a bit of flair as we lack width on that side....and we certainly need a centre forward who can bag his chances...someone with a bit class and pace....and we need to sign a versitile am/fc who can play left/right midfield or off the striker...again with a bit of pace and craft...and maybe a defender who can play central and left back...4 players...my own suggestions would be vertonghen, schurrle, podolski and jovetic...and off load some of the older players like kujt, maxi, aurelio and loans like aquilani, cole and so on to fund the above deals....just a pity i feel that we did not sign at least a right winger in january as 4th spot looks to be there for the taking

Obviously Kenny is not an idiot and probably realizes that his side aren't scoring goals. We were obviously trying to get something like this in January but couldn't get the right option otherwise we would have.

Thanks for the obvious post

We just need more movement up front with more bodies in the box from midfield anda bit more pace in the final third...Bobbinred

Theres a lot of people saying they want Mourinho or guardiola as manager, but I don't want to support a team who gain success by sacrificing the foundation stones that this great club was built upon.
When it comes to picking a manager for Liverpool, it is slightly different to picking one for City or Chelsea.
We have a manager who loves our great club and understands what we stand for, who eats, sleeps and breathes Liverpool FC, who knows the fans, has created large portions of our history and is in my eyes the only person right for the job. Yes he is going to make mistakes, he's only human, no its not going to happen over night, but please trust that nobody wants our great club to be restored to their former glory more than he does, but not att the cost of losing our identity as a club!
The only other manager I can think of who holds us in the same regard is one Rafa Benitez, who I must say I admired as a man, a manager and a liverpool fan and never wanted to see leave but we must look forward.
I would like silverware as much as any of you, I'm 28 and to young to remember winning the league, but im old enough to know that, this club stands for more than plastic fans, and purchased league titles! We are supporters NOT FANS, our blood is red for 1 reason! We are the 12 Man....... we have waited 20 years, whats a little longer!

Just want to get people's opinions. I personally can't understand people who say we don't need CL this year. I think if we don't get it we are in big, big, big trouble.
If we do not qualify we will not be able to attract the world class talent we need unless we pay huge wages, which I agree we shouldn't as the club is financially on a sound footing.
Chelsea, Scum, Citeh, Arsenal and even Spurs will all be spending big in the summer and will get the cream if they are in CL. FFS Newcastle may be in a better position than us come summer!
We NEED to finish top 4. Our great name no longer carries much weight with the new talented players who were probably on just being born the last time we won a league title.
A league and FA cup trophy would be nice, but they won't get us going towards a league title like CL will.
Without CL this year I fear we may not be a top 4 team again for many, many years.
And you have no idea how much that thought kills me...

What are your thoughts

YNWA

LJ

We won't go under if we don't make the Champions league, but we will find it hard to attract Europeans top players. Lets put this into prospective 8 draws at home, when we deserved to get all the points, but for finishing off our chances and great goal Keeping in most if not all of the games. If you add the 14 points to what we have now. we could easily be Champions this year.I have seen all of our home games and if we had a Fowler or Aldo in our team,we would of won all our home games comfortably and as Rafa would say, that's a Fact.

Sad to see my fellow comrades losing faith in Suarez :(

One certain Evra accuses, Whole media conspires, FA acts biased

He serves undeserved punishment but instead of enjoying family vacation for a month in some exotic place, he still trains with our lads and watches our lads from the stands

Expresses his gratitude for the support he received from us in tough times and speaks of wining titles with our massive club.

His hunger to kick the ball in the net finds parker in the way and certain wayne tweets he should be sent off

the media joins rooney's bandwagon and my beloved comrades joins the media bandwagon in their witch hunt :(

calls him 'liability' :(

Here in India my pals who support clubs like real, chelsea say that in our current squad apart from gerrard if anyone else has the hunger to change the game than he is Luis Suarez! ...at times even match up with Stevie G.

So I ask to my comrades ...should we part ways with Suarez because he is not liked and hugged by Rooney, Media and Fa?

If your answer is yes, then I think we can call back Michael Owen because he is liked and hugged by Rooney, Fergie, Media, FA.

Who cares if Owen left us when we weren't performing well and Suarez joined us when we were battling relegation!

I'm still proud to be Liverpool Supporter

Indian Red

Suarez n gerrard r the heart n soul of liverpool. Turning on them is llike barca turning on messi n xavi. We can forget abt being a top4 team without these two.
Indian Buzzer

Whether you like it or not, Suarez will move eventually....I dont think it will be next season....Once we win something meaningful with him, he will want to leave....

One thing you have to accept is that for players from countries, where Latin based languages are spoken, Madrid/Barca are the pinnacle...So they will move one day whether they are Alonso, Mascherano, Ronaldo or Suarez.....

That is why I strongly agree with Kenny's policy of buying British....They have grown up in GB and have heard from their parents and relatives about how big Liverpool is and will always want to stay as opposed to players from Iberia or Latin America.....

Having a core of British players will enrich the feeling of belonging while representing a club......

LiverBird

Some of the so called fans here are pathetic....

They hardly support the team.....they believe in the concept of money buying success....they dont understand football......Almost all the teams above us have the advantage of a core of players who have played together for more than one season....

Ours is almost like a new team with only 3 of the back 4 having played regularly......we have a new midfield and a strike force......We must be patient and let the relationships grow.......

I have always supported Carroll in this forum and otherwise....Its good to see Kenny playing to his strengths......Remember, he is going to be a very good player if not a great one......

For the lad below who was complaining of queuing up to get his Wembley ticket. See this link below, the first couple of minutes has got some brilliant footage of Don Revie's Leeds at Anfield in the 70's. Have a look at 1.30 particularly, where the Leeds players some out on to the pitch for a walk around. They're still in their suits, so it'll only be about 1 o'clock. The Kop's jammed, old terraced paddock in the Main Stand is full. Then look at the Kemlyn and seats in Main Stand, deserted. Lol. You used to have to start queuing at dinner time mate to get in for the big matches, f*n queues going half around Anfield. Lol.

Any idea what might be the punishment for Suarez if the FA take any action regarding the eye gauge on Parker.... although i m a LFC fan but that was bad in all honesty {Ed002's Note - Let's assume for now that it will go no further.}

He was given a yellow card and the ref saw it so the F.A. cannot take any action i believe.

It cant go any further as the referee dealt with it on the pitch.

Apologies misread that post what eye gouge?
DCG

@derek...i m not quite sure the ref had seen the incident and @DCG luis caught hold of parkers eye towards the end while trying to get the ball off him

I haven't seen any eye gouge, but w/ Luis' previous we really don't know what could happen. Peter Crouch got away with one a few weeks back, we can only hope Luis gets the same treatment.

Unlucky last night played well but need to be more patient and more clinical. King was outstanding great leader and for a guy who doesnt train is top class. Im worried about suarez attitude i have to say he looks like a ticking time bomb on the pitch and walked off like a spoilt brat at the end.I wonder what kk will do at the weekend knowing his stubborness he will be in the squad, what do the eds think?
DCG {Ed001's Note - I do worry that he will try too hard against United and end up losing it. He will always be walking a tightrope due to his temperament, but added to the fact everyone will be on his back, I just think it is too risky to play him.}

Ed,
Trying as hard as we can with our Kenny heads on - if it is solely up to Kenny, he is gonna go. As a sub again. You should know Kenny, he doesn't give a flying for all the abuse he's had at OT down the years. It's part of it mate. Remember when there used to be that 'Bryan Robson's got V.D.' song rolling down from the Kop ?
all sorts getting chucked at you in the away Scoreboard End ?
****s sake mate, you can't sanitise the game anymore than it is being.
Kenny will take him for me, and play him 2nd half. 100% all day long.
Unless the lad himself says otherwise (can't see it) or upstairs do (can't see them over-ruling Kenny on a playing matter). He has to go, Kenny even sticking up for him in the post-match interview.

I think there is a thin dividing line between success and failure...

We all know it, home form has been the issue with 9 draws...

4 more home goals in four of those 9 games and we would be 4th spot on 47 pts pushing for third place. (not taking in to account any 6 pointer games we've drawn i.e. against spurs last night.)

It's a fine line and getting the balance is vital! We could also have conceded as well!

We have one of the best defences and the poorest conversion of chances in to goals rate at 8% - worst in Premiership.

It does not take a genius to work it out that the issue is with finishing and Dalglish and Clarke understand this or else they do not deserve to be in managment!

Okay - if we can slightly tip the balance and imporve the conversion rate, without compromising on the defensive strength then 4th place, with the squad we have, is achievable. But we've got to work it out in the next 3-4 games - in my opinion.

Stato

We don't need to 'work it out' in the next 3/4 games, we need to win probably at least 10 out of the 14 we have left, if not more. As you said the main problem is obvious. It should be stressed that a lot of the chances we don't convert aren't that great to start with (hence Carrolls permanent wingeing at pretty much everyone). Guess the difference is that when someone like Torres is on form, those half chances become goals.

Firstly divide your brain and then thin the line. The quality in CM is the problem not the strikers . I actually felt sorry for Carrollast night he played out of his socks. I guarantee if Modric had a red shirt on last night we would have spanked Spurs maybe 2-0.

^^ha ha Mystic Meg!

Fair point on the CM... do you think it's because we're not direct enough at times and allow teams to pile men behind the ball. I guess that's the CM and wingers job, move the ball into dangerous positions earlier...

OR

Is it just our final ball is poor?

OR

Forwards not clincal enough, Suarez had pretty much a free header. Carroll had an opportunity from 10 yards and scuffed it?

OR

Mixture of the both?

s it just me, or did anyone else enjoy the game yesterday ?
I thought there were interesting little match-ups all over the park, especially so on both wings.
Johnson v Walker was fascinating, then Walker v Bellamy was like a sprinter's 60 metres.
Kelly & Kuyt v Bale & Assou-Ekoto, and others doubling up so that there was little space to be had.
I thought Jay Spearing had a good match, with Liverpool's central midfield getting the edge on Spurs'.
Carroll had another good game, even if some of the crosses to him were rubbish.
No-one can criticise the lad for last night, for god's sake.
But, all-in-all, it was a good, competitive typical English league match. Probably Scott Parker was the difference between Liverpool getting the 3 x points last night. How comes they never play like that when they got to Old Trafford !?
And, another, one look at that game and a similar look at the NextGen the other night - there is NO kid in the Liverpool line-up ready to play yet.
You do not throw skinny young kids of 17 into a game like that, who are gonna get munched up and spit back out. Anyone who has played football, rugby, any other similar contact sport would realise that.
Unless the kid is 1, exceptional and 2, got the physique to handle it.
Sterling's gonna be a real un hopefully but you think full professionals are gonna stand there and let him do his fancy dribbling and turns. He'd go right up in to row Z double time !
The Real KB

Hi kb, we did miss lennon on the right, both he and walker like bale and bae work in tandom, bale had to play all over yesterday which is why he probably had a shocker thats the 2nd time he has played like that due to injuries and both times now has played poor? dawson and king have always copped with carroll and suarez! as for the next gen, we f###d up, god knows how or why? but we did! anyway we won, we won with a team missing at least four excellent players in carroll (will play for england?), kane, fredricks, bostock plus a couple of others who were preffered by the club to gain better knowledge of the game by going out on loan! we did miss vdv and azza last night (and bale lol), we down here were happy with the draw tbh

I used to play in goal and suffered the very same injury as ledley has, he will be fine, just swelling the day after with very bad cramps, his swimming helps though! if and when harry goes, it will depend on who we get? all i know is, is that levy has flown out to spain about a dozen times in the past few months? bale and mods should stay as long as we hold on to 3rd and once again depending on who comes in hope to god we keep sandro though? what about yourselves?? who do you think you will get in?? being realistic in mind??

I absolutely and totally haven't got a clue who we'll get in !
Lol.
There'll probably be 3 or so leaving (eg Kuyt, Aurelio, maybe Maxi, Carra ? although like to see him stay on staff). But a bit of pace up front is needed. I'd like to see them splash out for Albrighton myself. I can't see any foreign big names in, on mega wages.

Having been the game last night the one thing that does occur to me is when we play the game at a high tempo we always look the better side. Sure we may give the ball away more than usual but because we are high up the pitch and chasing the opposition then, in my opinion, we gain it back quicker. I only hope we can maintain that intensity for the mojority of our remaining games if we do I think we can have a successful season...........TMac

Just to give my two cents on the over-reaction to Kenny and comments last night on not supporting the Suarez ban:

Kenny will stand up for what he, and the club believes in.

This is a moral value that is completely lost these days.

He will not care what he is labelled as in the media and by others.

He will say what he believes, and a headline will be written, and people will comment, and journos will have a field day, he's been through it all before.

The only thing he cares about when managing the club he loves, is supporting and standing by the team through the good and bad times.

ONLY the club knows the full truth behind the whole affair, and so if needs be, they'll stand by someone who is an easy target for attracting negative press and association.

If that gets labelled by others as a 'PR disaster', then let it be, we'll walk on.

Sometimes biting your lip and having to leave an issue unresolved, when you know the full facts and others don't, and no doubt know how it will play out in public if raised further...

Sometimes standing by what you believe in, is more important that trying to make yourself look right to others.

Kenny knows this, and that's why he is the King.

Here we go again!! Gordon Taylor you idiot...

Everytime you listen to Gordon Taylor mate. Just think back to the start of the Tevez situation. He got involved on behalf of Tevez and was heavily criticised by City. A couple of weeks later Tevez went AWOL back to Argentina and Taylor was made to look a right nobhead.

That always brings a smile to my face :)

To be honest, im a bit confused as to why we haven't made attempts to sign any out-and-out wingers other than Downing. Downing seems to be a bit of a flop and after the Tottenham game it appears that we have no crossers. Also I think the poor crossing is impacting on Andy Carroll's performances. I would love to say that we should just sign Hazard or Eriksen but we need to be more realistic and maybe look at someone like Scott Sinclair or Marin.

Not too sure why Downing is getting so much crap from most fans. He played 15 min if not less. got the ball tried to beat Walker for pace and consceded a goal kick. The central midfield tried pushing every play to the left side of the field, in my opinion to predictable,There were a few occassions we could have taken the ball, passed it through central midfield and we would have created much better attacking oppotunities. The 1 example was when Suarez passed the ball through for Carrol and he got into box only to try and cross, again if Adam could have played further up the pitch he would have given Andy the chance for a layoff but because we do not have an engine room such as LUCAS or a player like Monster Masch or Gatusso type player right now the midfield is to scared we will expose back 4 for eg when the crowd went boo after Adam was played in, in an advanced postion what did he do, slowed down the play by instictively passing the ball back to Skyrtel. That was the most frustrating minute of the game for me.

as a spurs fan, i thought i would give a spurs fans take on the spurs/liverpool debate and game! i come on here every now and again conversing with some educated fans (the real kb springing to mind), and the odd person who knows nothing about football and or history!
we (spurs) 'HAVE' been affected with the redknapp court case, there's no hiding the fact, since his daily court appearances we havent been producing, simple, we have missed him taking the training sessions and team talks, we missed him last night we also missed three players, we absolutely missed the guile of van der vaart and the speed of lennon, we didnt miss kaboul tbh and being honest suarez and carroll have never given king and dawson any trouble in the past anyhow! btw, i thought suarez was a disgrace kicking out on parker, he did loOk at parker before kicking him, i know you will defend him the same way we will defend bale with his dive! how many times has suarez dived?? be honest!! talking of bale he was appalling last night appalling! like playing with ten men! at times, this season he has been un-playable, quote micah richards, i have played giggs and robben both with speed and skill, but i played in my opinion the best of the lot today in gareth bale! one last thing about our gareth, his one on one! probably the only time you would be happy to see bale denied!! (sorry), were a couple of players short, adebayor isn't the man for us, simply not good enough, my understanding is we have lined up one of damiao, cavani or llorente? we have also set up a summer deal for marin? and a centre half (at the end of the season we will have king dawson and kaboul! caulker may return or once again will go on loan? bassong and gallas will be leaving) and a couple of squad players?, would love to see erikson at the lane! he is a spurs fan after all but im sure he will end up at barcalona or madrid?, we have built within the last few years and have continued to build, buying young good players for the future, i think this is what liverpool need to do? i feel your about five good signings away from a very good team? you will probably add in the summer but give it another season and you will be back? imho you need a right winger? two yes two new forwards suarez and carroll are simply not clinical enough, its what has stopped us being 2nd at the moment or even 1st??, dont think johnson is good enough, nor spearing? jj shelvey was looked at by all the london clubs when at charlton, why did they not sign him?? not good enough?? you have players coming to an end? gerrard? bellamy? who can step in ? we have sandro, huddlestone isn't good enough? not sure about livermoore? you need a right winger? who would you buy? be realistic? who can you buy? teams will always go to the white hart lanes, anfields, old traffords, stamford bridge and eastlands and be happy with a draw! for your information guys when you go onto the banter page with your redknapp's going down etc etc you need to know there is a big movement at tottenham that would be happy to see the back of him, not off the field features but on field features, so you wont always get a rise its called (swro), imho you need a right winger? two yes two new forwards suarez and carroll are simply not clinical enough, its what has stopped us being 2nd at the moment or even 1st?? any way im sure to get some stick, if its from an educated one i will take it on board, if however its from one of the idiots then water of a duckss back fellas!!

sir billy nick

Actually fair points... I wouldn't say two new strikers though as Carroll has played well last few games just missing the service, Suarez is a menace but is clearly not a goal scorer, as for bale I'm welsh so I think he is great but his diving was terrible, and as you said Suarez does do it, but to see a British player do it just seems a bit worse. As for saying London clubs turned down John jo, that's like saying why didn't anybody else buy bale at the time? It's what scouts see, I personally don't think he will make it at lfc. Also it seems everyone who watches football knows we have needed wingers for years, just depending on finish at the end of the season the quality we can sign...

Also I do like spurs and your football, but you have spent a lot of money for years and years now so you should be where you are. The summer will be interesting for both clubs, because I'm sure we will spend and so will you, but can you keep bale? Modric?

Any how's good luck for the rest of the season now.
G BOX

I feel we are two or three signings away from a team that will challenge for major honours. This season we have played some great football but have been let down in the final 3rd by either bad finishing or poor final balls. I think in the summer we need a clinical striker and a couple of wingers - one with a bit of guile to open up packed defences such as a Luis Garcia or a Benayoun type player.

Spearing is a squad player and is doing a fine job filling in for Lucas. He certainly has his limitations but he is strong in the tackle and positionally quite disciplined.

In my opinion Spurs have played the best football in the PL for the last 12-months. You certainly attack with pace and power. But your biggest test will be trying to hold onto your star players. Although Spurs have a rich history, players like Modric and Bale want to win the bigger trophies and earn more money. Will they get that at Spurs and if not, can you replace them?

JRG

I have never seen Suarez dive like Bale did last night.
He does go down easily sometimes with minimal contact and complains to the ref, but never with no contact at all!
Spurs didn't even try to win the game, not what you'd expect from title hopefuls.

Billfaethetoun

To be honest nick, your not far off the mark with your overview. I agree with the Suarez statement, it was a disgrace. It was a roundhouse to the rib with his shin, he knew what he was doing and in my opinion should've been given his marching orders. If he carries on with his petulance, he will lose my vote as it will in no doubt start to unsettle the team.

As for the Rednapp, I hope the greedy spiv is given a good custodial.

Its an insult to the hard working man who has to endure rises in the cost of living whilst taking pay cuts and see front line
public services tampered with through
austerity only to here about a greedy tax dodging spiv plead ignorance whilst frequently blinking as he opens his lying mouth in the knowledge that he's contributed to bringing a towns football club to the brink of bankruptcy.

Ozone

Unsettle your ass. Suarez is brilliant and is going nowhere.

Ozone, harryy wont go down? the prosecution tbh does not have a lot to go on? he has been paying his taxes for years and years, hes a very very rich man so why not declaire for in their measure a small sum?? to the others, it was poor of bale and one i will have a dig at him about at some stage, john jo shelvey was looked at by most london clubs but im told we didnt think he would be good enough? at best a squad player? im sure thats what the arsenals, chelseas and west hams thought??

Parker was dishing it out a bit last night.
The old skool in me says give him some back. I've got no problem if Suarez sticks the boot in. Lol. Just not the other stuff.

hi eds and fans I just was curious what are the prize money allocations for the prem from the first place through to 8th, and where does the biggest revenue for pool come from? thanks
hibsylfc {Ed002's Note - The prize money from last year was:
Manchester United £15,120,000
Chelsea £14,364,000
Manchester City £13,608,000
Arsenal £12,852,000
Tottenham £12,096,000
Liverpool £11,340,000
Everton £10,584,000
Fulham £9,828,000
Aston Villa – 9,072,000

Broadcasting revenue is the highest earner for the club followed by commercial and matchday revenue.}

I was at the game last night and we played excellent! The only thing that really frustrated me was our counter attack! We were to slow and allowed spurs to get men back behind the ball! If we had been a bit quicker we would have bagged a couple! Other than than we closed down their key players, forced them to make mistakes and out classed them pretty much all over the pitch! Was just a shame to see the best chances of the game come from a left and right back!
Spurs this season have been excellent but I just think if we had a bit more urgency about us going forward we would have been a bit luckier! Otherwise and excellent shift put in by the lads!

Just a question to hear people's honest opinions. Do you think we would have been in a better position now, had we not sold Meireles?

Ash

I watched the chelsea game on sunday meireles pulled out of at least 4 tackles i dont think he,s no great loss its not like he,s setting the world on fire at chelsea

I honestly fail to see what this love-in people have with Meireles is all about. He had a good run of 4 or 5 games this time last year but apart from that he was ordinary.

Who would you leave out to accommodate him? Adam has three times the amount of assists than Meireles and twice as many goals and even though he fouls more often, at least he doesn't bottle a tackle. Gerrard will always play when fit, Henderson works so hard for the team closing down the opposition and never hides, Lucas will play when fit.............

I watched the Chelsea vs United game the other day and he is still the same - ducking out of tackles and loose passing. He is far too lightweight for midfield. His best position is just behind the forwards and we have Gerrard who fits that role perfectly.

JRG

Where would he have played Ash ?
He was what he was at the start of the season, a 60th minute sub. Particularly where you're chasing a winner.
I liked his intelligence on the ball (ala Arsenal away) but look at Chelsea on Sunday - f**ing wide open, no one picked Rooney up.
Nah mate, a decent squad player but we'll have the £12m. Give me Henderson any day. A.n.y. d.a.y.

I never realised Carroll has only scored 2 goals at Anfield - very poor return for a striker costing 35m. Also agree with the Suarez comments today, he is a liability and I would sell him in the summer.

So, we've all been annoyed by Suarez ban, give him nothing but support for the 9 games he's missed, eagerly anticipating his comeback, yet because he didn't score for the 25 minutes he was on, and okay he kicked parker, which was an accident and he seemed to acknowledge it straight away and apologies. do we now want to abandon and get rid of probably our best player? Support on and off the pitch is what he needs. If he made a quick exit after the match it was probably advised by the manager to keep him out of the spotlight where necessary!

El Diablo!

Gerrard felt unloved and unappreciated by Rafa who allientated every player at liverpool.

In the end Rafa was mad and looked a bit like I imagine Satan to look!

The delivery into the box was questionable last night, why would they not give Aurelio a chance now he is fit again. His dead ball delivery is one of the best at the club.

07 Feb 2012 11:41:30
Its clear to me that the pool management do not want or feel a champions league place is important. If they did they would have bought atleast one great buy to give us that oomph to get there. Lets face it we have lots of good premiership players but not many class players, its the class players that take you that extra mile and win you things. Our squad is a number 6-7 premiership side and guess where we are on the table. In a on off game as in the cups we are great but on the long hall too inconsistant. When we play the top top sides everyone is up for it, lots of pressure and is fast paced. Against all the others they seem too scared to loose and therefore play back instead of forward give them space and there is no pressure on the other teams. Our team of the 70s and 80s and like Man U now would pressure the other teams from start to finish. We give our opponents too much time on the ball making teams at the bottom of the table grow in confidence and then guess what we leak a goal.
Rafa who didnt do everything right atleast knew his priority was Champions League and thats when the class players come to you and they ceertainly did. If only the yanks had given him the money to buy his top targets we would probably be top of the premiership with Champions League foot ball every year. In summary we are not a top 4 side so lets be realistic and cut out the optism. I somehow feel the owners are not happy to give KD more money so are waiting too see where we are at the end of the season. {Ed001's Note - this is just drivel.}

If only football was this easy, everyone would win the league every year

But we played against a top side Spurs

Were we not up for it as you suggest

Your logic is faulty and is put together to fit the pieces, Tut, Tut

Rafa this Rafa that, have some respect for kenny. If you even bother going to the games I bet you are one of the idiots who were booing at the end. I couldn't believe my ears lastnight, I don't always agree with what the management do but booing is not our way and is not going to help anybody. Get behind the lads we can all see signs of a good team, big Andy looked good again, we do need to finish our chances but people saying sell suarez what planet are you on.

Surprised to see Ed'oo2 comment further down the page saying Suarez shouldn't even travel to Manchester on Saturday! Doesn't that send the wrong signal to the watching world/media? I back Suarez 1000% and think he was treated terribly by the F.A. surely leaving him out would be an admission of guilt? What happens next season do we leave him out then aswell? One mans word against another does not constitute a guilty verdict in my eyes! If they don't like Suarez at there ground then that's there problem!!

Waro

p.s. If he does play and is given abuse let's hope Oliver Holt in the Mirror gives it the same coverage as he gave us with regards to Evra at Anfield! two wrongs don't make a right Olly! {Ed001's Note - the media will turn the whole thing into a Suarez witch hunt and the game will become a side issue. Maybe it would be best to leave him behind and not have that pressure on the team. You know full well Oliver Holt would not give fair coverage to Liverpool, he is just a biased fool getting well paid for being crap at his job.}

Agree with Eds sanitise situ, take sting out.Leave Suarez out.Be witchunt and awful atmosphere for lad.He may even be sent off, idiots be howling at every touch

I totally agree with this poster. Suarez should play from the start. Hes served his punishment. Shall we leave him out of the next Fulham game too? He can handle it

{Ed001's Note - the media will turn the whole thing into a Suarez witch hunt and the game will become a side issue. Maybe it would be best to leave him behind and not have that pressure on the team. You know full well Oliver Holt would not give fair coverage to Liverpool, he is just a biased fool getting well paid for being crap at his job.}
========================

And if he is left behind , they will turn it into "Suarez left behind" circus and the game will be a side issue.
Probably a bit of pressure on the team will do them good, they need to start showing some solidarity and fight for the club. Who cares about the media coverage, the club will be criticised whatever they do, I think the most important will be to get someone working on Suarez all week so he can control his reactions and channel his anger in a constructive way, like shooting practice from the half way line with venom and power.

Roy {Ed002's Note - So what happens if Suarez cannot control himself? Who will be to blame - Suarez, Dalglish, Ed002, the owners, The FA, Ferguson?}

Man u v Liverpool games have always been intense, both sets of fans do their best to put players off, we should be more worried about the ref decisions than the fans, man u fans can shout as much as they want we can't stop them but we can shut them up with an early SUAREZ goal then Liverpool fans will be the loudest, if Liverpool decides not play suarez against man u they might as well leave him behind in every away game because that will give an incentive to all the oppositions fans to shout even louder, best thing to do is kill the atmosphere by an early goal perhaps the repeat of the 1-4 will be great :))

I know why don't we leave all our best players back in Liverpool, let United win 5 nill? That should defuse the whole argument. People should grow a pair.

He's a professional footballer who has a track record he's well use to the abuse! i think the abuse will just fire him up to score against them and shut them up! he has to play! he's the most creative player we have! no name Warrior

Players from latin america are used to a more hostile atmosphere where the stewards have to shield players from objects being thrown while taking cornersť then a few mancs shouting abuse, I wouldn't worry about suarez being affected by the atmosphere more than being targeted by the players just to get a reaction out of him.

In the case of Johnson leaving, if you look at our team and each position, RB is the only one where we have a quality back up who can step up. It therefore appears that KK will be selling to raise funds, now he will get backing from the board/owners, but i would look into it that he means to invest substantially. The sale of Johnson would raise approx £12M but would not weaken the position, it makes financial sense and will give £12M worth of investment which could make a move for a £15M player, who would be good, into a move for a £25-30M player who is world class. Its the difference between a move for Adam Johnson and Eden Hazard, or the difference between a move for Luuk De Jong or Edison Cavani?
Not saying that we will sign either of those, or even that the funds from Johnsons transfer will be available to spend, but you have to say, it does make sense to re-invest the money in another position, where it is needed.

Anfield Andy

Johnson was absolute class last night- why on earth would anyone want to get rid of him on that performance. Keep him and use Kelly as a back up. If we sell Glen IMO this will be a case of one step forward two steps back

Both players mentioned would cost upwards of £40 million.

The southern red

Like I said first time round, the money would help towards players of that quality, and then stated the sort of difference it was equal to, i did not say that Liverpool would go for those exact players or that they would cost the £25M quoted, i was just using them as an example of difference in class, not price.
I do however feel that if Liverpool got Champions League football they could make one of them a Liverpool player, although I do not expect that to go through.
I agree he was quality, but he played on the left, due to Enrique being out. The point is that apparently we need the funds from Johnson to pursue a striker or winger, which are both of importance, I would rather cash in on Johnson and play our young quality RB than end up without the Striker or Winger, as may be the case.

Anfield Andy

If we dont make CL then our top player's like Pepe Luis will want to leave! so all this talk about signing top class player's is immaterial as none of the above will want to come to us! no name Warrior

I ask this question: why are Liverpool football club hated so much these days? They used to be everyones second favourite club years ago. Is it KK or is it some of the players who are hated?

They're not! Go away Manc!

MR EM

I really don't see any 'hatred', no more or less than any other club. I think we could perpeptuate dislike if we behave like victims all the time. I don't hate any other club, certain individuals I find distasteful but to say everyone hates us is Drama queen talk.

dd

Most other supporters are jealous

Because they are the only team stuck to their past!

Actually they are because your team is full of cheats

I work in London and a lot of the people I know suport the majority of the top 6 teams.
The general trend is hating (in order):

Chelsea - trying to buy success, plastics fans etc

ManU - media bias towards them, can't stand Slur Alex

Man City - same as Chelsea, but not as bad yet as they haven't won much

Spurs - like the football they play, can't stand the fact that Harry and Sky love each other - most fans act like complete A**holes

Arsenal - like the football they used to play. Aren't really seen as much of a threat anymore. Don't like whingy Wenger.

Liverpool - they seem to be the team that they want to win if their team doesn't. Comments like I'd rather see Liverpool win than ................

Well its a different type of 'hatred'

The 'hatred' towards the mancs is a kind of 'jealousy hatred'. At least its the basis for most anti-united rivalries amongst fans.

The 'hatred' towards liverpool is a kind of 'amusing hatred'...cuz their so stuck on their past, when we all know they will never win again....so its amusing and stupid.

Amusing hatred?

All this so called hatred is media based and down to Murdoch! except for the hatred between US and them! and any true Red will know what i mean by US and them! no name Warrior

Have to agree with posts so far this morning that we need to get rid of Suarez. He is a class player but is a liability. Also agree that Carroll is no good. Its ok saying his work rate has improved and he chasing down defenders but lets face it he was brought here for 35m to score goals and he has only scored 2 at Anfield - not a good return. Sell both in the summer.

You should have a dumb*ss filter on this site, Eds - this fool would not have got through

I think Suarez is a fantastic player, the most exciting we have had for a long time.
But as I posted some weeks back, he is now a marked man, the refs are watching him closely, opposing teams and their fans as well, every opportunity will be used to get him sent off.
He is also a little 'hot headed' and easily shows his emotions, so from that perspective is a bit of a liability.
Maybe LFC should get a sports psychologist to work with him, help him keep those emotions in check.
As for Carroll, he is no good, not the right quality, poor positional play, too slow, only has one decent foot, and for his size too easily beaten in the air, also a poor finisher.
Nuff said.
Food for thought.

Did you actually watch the game last night or have you just read a match report in the scum or mirror,as for the original poster what a t**t.
paul d

Carroll is now running like a donkey what do you want from him?

Most people have very short memories. If he keeps his head down, doesn't do anything stupid for the rest of the season, 90% of it will be forgotten about next season. I personally think its madness to think about selling him. There's not many players in the world, let alone in the Premier league, that can just light up the whole game simply by his presence. He has the chance of going down in history as one of liverpools greats. He just needs more time to settle in, and a bit of understanding from everyone. His Latin temperament does give him a slightly volatile edge, but for me, it shows he cares. Crazy to sell him. Nick

What sort of person believes we should sell Suarez and for that matter Carroll?? Suarez has missed 9 games so his touch will be off for a couple of weeks, but once he regains that he will be the true world class player we have come to recognise. As for Carroll, I'm I the only one seeing a significant improvement in his overall game? The boy's confidence is clearly coming back and his touch and link up play has improved significantly, yet some idiots still seem to only want to slag the lad off, unbelievable! f*** me, I bet the same idiots want FT back.........- TMac

Bit disappointed with seeing another draw at anfield last night, but I think the two teams were always going to cancel each other out.
The main thing for me is that we were playing the team in 3rd and we were the better team. not quite by a country mile, but still better.

MIKEY

I agree with u mate. but this is spurs. we are a much bigger team than them. i expected to get revenge for what happened last time, but instead a useless draw. why did kenny put spearing in the team. he is useless and not liverpool standards (also other players). i just hope we get them in the fa cup.

Lotve what you says true Mikey. But Spurs missing a fair few key players. And sadly we still couldnt find the spark or creativity to beat them

My thoughts on last night...

Positives - Skrtel/Agger partnership continues to be effective, Johnson puts in a decent defensive performance, Jay Spearing, another clean sheet, Andy Carroll getting closer to being fully fit, Luis Suarez coming back

*Skrtel - has finally returned to the form he had before his injury in 2009. Finally defending as mean as he looks. Provides an excellent foil for Agger.

*Johnson - Defended pretty well when you consider its not his natural position. Meant he wasn't as prominent in attack as usual.

*Jay Spearing - becoming a vital part of the team, willing to do the dirty work for others. Whilst he isn't at the same level as Lucas, he provides an able back up.

*Andy Carroll - showing good levels of fitness, played the 90 mins, looked strong, had a decent turn of pace. Importantly his control looked much improved, better movement and looked a bigger threat. He'll be disappointed he didn't do better with the half volley. His recent form is definitely something to build on.

*Luis Suarez - always looks a threat, defenders look genuinely worried when he is on the ball. The sooner he is back in the swing of things the better for our top 4 chances.

Negatives - No goals, few clear cut chances

We have a huge game at the weekend, which can really set our season alight! A win at OT could really give our players the belief we can beat anyone.

-Would like to see Hendo come back in, probably for Adam. Adam needs more time on the ball which he won't get, Hendo's quick passing and extra pace could help overrun Carrick and Giggs.
-Don't know about Luis starting, it will be like throwing him to the lions. Evra clearly suffered when he was at Anfield, and the same could happen with Luis.

RedSG

So it's taken AC a year to get NEARLY FULLY FIT? Dont talk wet. He's as fit as he's gonna get.

LJ

Andy Carroll is getting there as quickly as Kenny Dalglish wants him to - no problems .

Qwerty

Agree with lj, like to add andy carroll is average and will will never be good enough for lfc, infact hes worse then ngog.RedTurk

I reckon suarez would thrive in that atmosphere

And because andy carroll didnt score we see the return of red turk with his usual negative drivel towards carroll i hope andy starts scoring again soon cos you never hear from red turk when he does

Red Turk, you are the most unknowledgable, moaning Liverpool fan around, please bugger of and support somebody else, the Mancs would love you, you already sound like one of them.

MR EM

Ask any pro footballer, there is a huge difference between being fit and match fit, the last few games AC is looking sharper than at any other time since he joined and it is starting to show. I am not an AC fan, but at least give the lad some credit for starting to perform.

Red4Ever

Typical RedTurk nonsense!!

It is not Dalglish that pays Carroll's wages , it is the season ticket holders like you and me .

Redturks ears pricked up when AC's name was mentioned..! Got straight in there with a put down... No messing..!

AC is as fit as it is gna be but his form and skill will continue to improve IMO

I really cant agree with the original poster! Jay Spearing was crap last night! even though he's a local lad he just is'nt good enough! no name Warrior {Ed016's Note - I counted about 5 missed passes, but apart from that he was a the perfect scrappy midfielder, well not perfect but he showed real potential. Gerrard didn't hit prolific form until 03/04. Jay needs a good run, he is getting it due to Lucas being injured. Support the academy lads, they were raised Liverpool and will play better than any other player you bring in}

Tottenham said they defended for their lives last night ? What ?

They will have much tougher days than that at Anfield starting next season for sure . I just thought LFC played reasonably well and Tottenham did what they generally do at Anfield .

We can improve ten fold on last nights performance , Spurs are not prepared for the LFC team they will face from now on .

Qwerty

Yes they will

Why do some lfc fans on here insist that we sell luis? Are you mancs or just plain stupid? Why should we give the media or manc utd that kind of satisfaction? They have treated us like pure s**t for decades, hence why the king treats those idiots the same during interviews. Sure luis ain't all that innocent but what about terry? Rooney? Harry Redknapp? If we sell luis then what? The media is gonna love us? No. I don't give a damn what hooker-loving rooney or ratboy or rudolph the red nose thinks. Same goes for sky or espn with all their ''experts'' which includes ex-players and managers who never achieved anything worth note in their careers with the exception of a few like phil thompson, steve nichol etc. Truth is the media hates us. Period. anyone remember a certain cantona and what he did? But was welcomed back like some kind of war hero. Sickening compared to the way luis gets treated. The least we as fans can do is stick by him. Sure,it's ok to critisize. I crit downing and carrol most of the time but they still have my full SUPPORT! Sorry for the rant. But let's get behind suarez and the team for once??
Capetownred

Well said! totally agree. Ferguson is pig sick he doesnt have Suarez in his team. Hes just f***in jealous because he lost Ronaldo

I think it is about time we give young sterling a go. Start giving him 5-10 mins at the end of matches of we are struggling to find a breakthrough. He would be an excellent impact sub and teams wouldnt know how to deal with him. It would also gradually begin to get him the experience he needs.

On last nights game Suarez was understandably a bit rusty, mis-timed kick caught parker. No angry response from any Spurs players just about sums it up. Mis -timed and accidental. Carroll had his best game of the season by far, Gerrard had his best game of the season also and is slowly but surely getting back to his best after such a long time out. I really believe were heading in the right direction and slowly but surely we'll get there. Just a point on Gareth Wonder Goals Bale. He arrived at Spurs as a full-back and was not on a winning side in his first 20 games and over for the team and couldn't command a regular place. So take Note! Some Players need time to settle at a new Club even really good ones. Suarez looks good because of his undoubted Class but wait till he hits top form. :)
kidmillions

Hope you're right, but his strike rate for Ajax is pretty similar to Kuyts for Feynoord over a similar length of time...I know he's a better player than Kuyt ever was but doesn't mean he'll bang in 20+ goals a season.Hope to be proved wrong and soon!

I realise Alan parry the Sky Sports commentator is a Liverpool fan but I got really fed up last night with him continually making digs at Liverpool FC, our manager, players and fans.

I suppost we will be hearing all kinds of sh1t from Rooney, Fergie and the ManUtd brigade this week - if they loose at OT this weekend that's them effectively finished for winning the PL or any trophy this season. The pressure is really on them and we'll see all the manc dirty tricks and psychology this week.

Watched the game last night and once again I have got to say that Carroll is useless.

Clearly sum muppet who doesnt support lfc..... best we've seen of carroll last nite in a liverpool shirt!

I'm sorry but you must have been watching a different game to me then. The lad put him self about and was chasing down defenders. His work rate has improved vastly. It's the wide men who are struggling to deliver decent balls to him

Also watched the game and have to say with comments like that? Your knowledge of football is highly questionable? Perhaps that's why you never signed your post.
kidmillions

He was very much better last night. he seems to have developed a little bit of pace. I think its all about confidence.

I dont like andy carrol one bit, but he was one of our better players last night. Quality in the final third was really poor though.
Indian Buzzer

His movment off the ball is becoming far better. He was running intelligently into space, trying to get into their areas. The problem is he is being marked too heavily from opposition (i.e Dawson last night) and they are making play difficult for him. I lost count the amount of times he was pushed over/fouled last night. Its not his fault. The lad is only going to get better.

I honestly think it would be better for LFC is Suarez was to leave in the summer. He is becoming one of the most hated players in the premier league and we are fast becoming one of the most hated clubs.

Why should he be more hated than John Terry (complete spam bag) or Wayne (it's good to see your own fans booing you) Rooney. Sure the opposing fans will give Suarez a hard time, that's because he's a class player. LFC is worshiped by its fans, that's really all that matters for me.

I have felt like this for a while now, I think he new excatly what he done to Parker last night, just before he volleys it he looks at Parker... He's a good player, wouldn't say great, for 30mil I would sell... Just my opionon. On the other hand though if he behaves I wouldnt mind him being here for a while, just can't seem to make my mind up about him

Actually wrong sat watched the match with arsenal, chelsea and Everton fans yesterday and they actually love Saurez , he has become a cult figure rather then a hate figure .Man united fans hate him more so because he destroyed them then again we hate their players dont see Man united fans asking for them to be sold.He made a mistake he was punished but he will alwys give 100% whilst in a Liverpool shirt, seriously sent a chill down my back when he was coming on as i knew he would either do something amazing on the pitch if not something stupid.

Seriously Rooney tweeting about it being a red card maybe he should of tweeted how the FA keep bailing him out of kicking other players.

On a note yesterday first time in a while seen spurs go defensive and lost total respect for bale.If saurez should have got a red card how about his two dives and his push on agger unfortunatly we are LFC these things get ignored.

Worst comment I have ever seen on here FACT.

Ed, I know how you feel about Johnson playing RB mate. Is it as confusing to you as it is to me, how well he plays LB? His positional awareness seems to be a lot better, in all the games i've seen him play LB.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96 {Ed001's Note - it has to be a mental thing, he has to think about what he is doing on the left, concentrate on his positioning etc. On the right he can just play, which seems to involve lapses of concentration and less effort. Though that was his worst game on the left last night, the only time Bale got into the game was when he went to the right and attacked Johnson. Johnson stood off him, giving him time and space, which he never had anywhere else on the pitch.}

07 Feb 2012 09:26:30
having watching the game last night one word striker, i cannot be the only person to see this with the window closed i just can not understand how are we going to get in the top 4!!!!! we need an out an out striker the goals we should have had last night!! its a joke yes we are in a cup final and still in the fa cup but this year was all about getting in to the top 4 this now looks slim!!! lets look at the young lads morgan, sterling they cant do any worse in front of goal

Yes thats right it looks slim. Where 4 points off 4th place with 14 games to play, we've got no chance.......oh that was sarcasm by the way, Considering our home form up to now, any sort of turn around in our home fortunes and we will be right there. Yes we do need another striker, but only because I think Kurt's time is coming to an end, his distribution was even poorer than usual last night.

I see that fatboy rooney has been upto his usual tricks by saying that suarez should of walked. How hard is it to sit behind a computer slagging people off and questioning decisions. I would love suarez to score the winner on sat.

Do u see suarez being involved on sat eds or do you see him not being involved at all?

Cheers
mighty reds {Ed002's Note - Personally I think it would be a most serious mistake to involve him at all on Saturday. I would not even take him to Manchester. For me, "a slight concern over a tight groin" after training on Friday is the answer.}

Kind of agree with the eds, we don't need Suarez to beam manUtd, but I'm sure he can handle the sutuation.

Suarez will play on Saturday and Fergie and the mancs will have to behave themselves.
We'll see?
kidmillions

Surely not playing Suarez in any way would just give the Mancs and all the other Suarez haters out there more ammunition, you can see them and the press stating that he's a bottler and that not turning out just shows he's guilty of what he was accused. Evra had the balls to face us at Anfield, I would be really disappointed if Suarez was not involved in some way.

Best way for him to shut them up is on the pitch where he can do to them what he did last season.

Scarface

He will have to go back at some point, and we need desperately need the points so I would take him.

davey

Do you really think Dalglish will be bullied into a team selection one way or another? And do you really think Suarez won't absolutely relish the atmosphere? My only concern would be the referee being swayed by a baying (would-be lynch) mob!

07 Feb 2012 09:10:47
hey i dunno about u guys but i honestly think suarez will leave in the summer, with former players and dalglish all singing his praises is making me think there trying to make him feel like a superstar because they fear he will leave....also i guess it was a gd point lastnight still not sure about spearing though

I think Spearing did ok, he is still young and he is technically a squad player, Lucas would have been playing if he was not injured. It has taken some time for Lucas to fit into the role he has and I think Jay can learn that also. Spearing also get points because he wants to play for Liverpool not play for money.

Rooney twited that Luis should be sent of because he kicked Parker. I think suspension follows his bosses tactics to get another suspension for Luis because they fear to have him on the pitch on coming Sat. Mr Rooney didn't watch the match properly I think. If it was one player to be sent off should have been Bale for purposely pushing Agger and causing an argument and what about carol been tripped in the box when he had a pass from Stevie

07 Feb 2012 08:16:30
Why do ManUtd players feel the need to post negative bullsh*t after Liverpool matches? Fergie, Neville, Ferdinand and now 'Fat Boy' Rooney saying that Suarez shouldve been sent off. The ref was right there and made the correct decision as Suarez was looking at the flight of the ball. Harsh yellow but he has to take it. I'd like to hear the excuses Shrek's barber came up with as to why the hell he did that to Rooney's barnet.

cozinoz

Rooney is talking from experience. The only difference is when Rooney gets sent off for deliberately kicking a player who's laying on the floor he gets the full backing of the FA to have his suspension reduced.

JRG

Agree with all about Rooney. Thought Neville was very sensible on Sky. Much as I hate him he has been quite fair.

dissapointed we didn't get the 3 points but we played well. In the first half every time a spurs player had the ball we had men behind him. Carrol has improved so much, there was this unbelievable touch from a cross in the 1st half but he slipped and couldn't go through on goal. He won most of the headers in the air and held the ball up very well. His performance merited a goal. Spearing was very good defensively but misplaced some passes. Gerrard was as usual good. Adam did well but lacked the killer ball. Kelly was good defensively but has to improve his attacking a bit.
I think our crosses s**k. Every time we got the ball on the flanks we just didnt produce that quality cross which manu does very well. This is one area we have to improve upon i.e our crossing.
We may or may not qualify for champs league i have already prepared myself for no champs league next season so that i am not so dissapointed come the end of season but we are well placed for next season.I have a feeling we are going to win at OT.

amar

Sorry mate must disagree, thought Dawson had the measure of Carroll throughout the game.Carroll had the best chance, and fluffed his lines. Glen Johnson was by far our best player on the night.

And you are off your head, once again glen johnson was shocking and carroll was brilliant...
G BOX

How was Johnson shocking? Apart from a short spell from Bale Krancjar or Walker didn't create anything... Clean sheet, hardly shocking. Going forward with no natural left footer in front the runs were similar to Bellamy. I guess people need to pick out for frustration....

Carroll' overall game was good, certainly improved but not enough chances created. No width....

Richards

Amar, I agree Kelly struggled a bit on his attacking but he had trouble running up and down the wing with Gareth Bale in his ar$e pocket.

Sooty

Richards... He was shocking as the only defending he had to do, he was beaten, he never followed bale and let him go through, his final ball was again awful... All he done was one good tackle on walker and had one shot.... Kels did not let bale has any space or time, but I guess that's why the spurs staff changed him over to johnsons side where then he became a bit of a problem..... But yeah apart from being shocking defensively every game, he's good....

So the stats for the last 5 games read lost 1 drawn 2 and won 2, scored 8 and conceded 6. Not top 4 form by any stretch of the imagination.

4 of those goals were in the cups, but it's league points we need.

After Saturday, I feel it will be lost 2, and I cannot see us scoring at all.

We must be very close to having the worst home form in the Premiership, even though we haven't actually lost. We certainly do have one of the worst scoring and conversion rates.

Who would have thought when we bought Carroll from Newcastle that they would be in a better position to qualify for the CL than us at the moment.

Just to balance my comments though, we need to take some of the burden, because so many games at Anfiled now are played in front of such a docile crowd. Spurs a big game for us, but the team did not get the vocal support shown against the Mancy's.

For sure on Saturday we will be under the cosh for most of the game, just like at Anfield against them - I just hope we can survive it, and 0-0 there would be good for me.

I know we won the home game, but it made very nervous watching, particularly in the first half when Kenny put out a team not to lose.

Carroll had his best game in a red shirt last night no question, I hope its a sign of things to come, the only thing he lacked last night was a goal, nice to see the work rate from him, he looked hungry.

Hopefully KD has a large supply of carrots

07 Feb 2012 05:56:41
Q. What do you get if you cross a ball with Andy Carroll?

A. A goal kick.

Even though he was in the right place for a decent cross it never reached the target, so what you say is slightly true.
However, it's not for bashing Caroll, just the quality of the crosses.

07 Feb 2012 04:24:38
Despite missing the sitter, Andy played much much muccch better than his previous outings ...he was winning the aerial battle..holding the ball up ...keeping the possession ..and even helped the squad in defense to get the ball out ...lovely game by Andy ...if he continues to improve his game like this he'll come back to his vintage best ......Agger, Skrtel, Kelly , Spearing ...top notch! ... Can anyone tell me what happened to Jose Enrique?? .....Eds?? ...........with this kind of game I think we'll do some serious damage at old trafford! {Ed002's Note - Enrique was injured.}

A great thing for me from the last couple of months is that even the big teams are coming to Anfield with a lot of respect.
City and Utd both went away very happy with a point, and now Spurs have.
We are drawing too often, but the old fear of coming to Anfield is coming back, even in the big teams- they know they're going to have to sweat blood to even get a draw here. Its not like it was last season, and that's a big change.
We're not quite there yet, but we're not far off either. Fingers crossed we get our scoring boots on in time for a top four finish this year.

Its all well and good mate but they're also slapping us at home and we're taking one point from six against our rivals. We owed them a game last night and it never happened.

07 Feb 2012 00:27:13
Sky sports showed we have the worse conversion rate in the league, converting just 8%. That's not good enough! Chances are coming but they're scrappy half chances. We need better quality on the wings to supply Carol. Eds whose our best option who will be available in the summer transfer window?

Too be honest we played at home, can you tell me how good we played? I watched that match, we werent nothing special at all, suarez should of been playing instead of carroll.RedTurk
-----------------------------------+
I like your posts RedTurk mate, they make me laugh. But grow a pair of balls mate. Not once did I read a post from you after the United and Wolves games. If you have the balls to post and criticise, after a bad result. Surely you have the balls to post something positive after a good result?

If we beat the Mancs on Saturday grow a pair and post something positive. You never know, you might enjoy it. You are only on here after a bad result, which hasn't been much recently (thankfully) lol

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

We wasn't nothing special?
We are the only team i've seen that have made Spurs playes for a draw with 10 men behind the ball.

Carroll was also really good.

Can't say i've missed you, can't wait til are next win, means you won't post.

KT!

Sorry RedTurk mate. When I say you havn't been on here recently (thankfully). What I mean is, the less your on here means we are playing well.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

Why are you asking us if you were watching it? Spurs 3rd place, were they better than us tonight? Simple answer, we destroyed them without scoring.
Spurs had to rely on time wasting and Gareth Bale diving to slow the tempo of the game we played, we couldn't score, Carroll was class, we worked hard after a week of 3 games which included both Manchester clubs. A point is a disappointment but we showed in the last week and a half we can easily beat the best teams in England. We're playing better now.

Rocky

Well said Blair. i thought Carroll had a good game tonight and he was unlucky not to score. mass improvement tonight he seems to be getting better. Redturk wind your neck in. support your team or just jog on. J.canada

You really are pathetic RedTurk - Carroll was one of our better performers last night and for the last three games. He held the ball up when needed, laid it off first time when the opportunity was there, flicked it on and worked hard all game while generally feeding of scraps. The crossing into the box for him was abysmal, I would say Bellamy, Downing, Kelly, Johnson and Kuyt put in one decent cross between them all game (although I would say Kyle Walker did an excellent job of stopping any crosses from our left).

But as Blair says, people like you will just criticise Carroll as soon as the team drops points because you cannot think of anything original.

Suarez has not played for 9-games, it would have been a ridiculous decision to start him last night. But what truly annoys me is that you criticise Carroll and say Suarez should have started, and yet completely ignore the fact that Suarez missed a simple header and was lucky not to have been sent off.

Is Suarez above criticism from you?

JRG

Redbirk did you not notice that Carroll actually played better than Suarez? Of course not you pessimistic idiot

Lol thats not hard considering suarez played like 25 mins. Carroll does not suit lfc the sooner you realise its a complete waste of money , and by the way hav a look where we are in the table behind newcastle who jus bought another striker. Henderson, downing , adam and carroll are no more then average. Luckily kenny brought in bellamy otherwise you all would of realised how much money has been wasted, bellamy has more than once saved us. RedTurk

Completely agree with some of the posts above about us being the better team and Carroll having his best game so far.
He is slowly but surely returning to the unplayable beast we saw at Newcastle.
He is looking more confident, stronger, mobile. He is winning so many headers. His hold-up play was awesome.
Can't believe the ref was allowing Dawson to hold him down/back and not give us a penalty and then when the same thing happened outside the bos, he gave us a free kick.
Surely if it's a fould outside the box, it's a foul inside the box and a penalty needs to be awarded.
I thought Parker was their best defender and he was lucky to stay on the pitch with a number of challenges that could have been yellow carded.
Can't believe Bale didn't see red for 2 yellows with the Agger incident (one for the blatant dive and one for raising his hands).
He could also have been booked for diving after Skrtel did that sliding challenge.
We made a free-flowing attacking team defend for nearly 90 minutes.

2002–2004 Porto
2004–2007 Chelsea
2008–2010 Internazionale
2010–2012 Real Madrid

Where would you expect José Mourinho to go next? I would expect mourinho to go back to barcelona. After Real Madrid where could he go next? Could it be a international job such as England Manager

I couldn't see him going to another club and if he does go to a english club. It would be Man Utd

Bayen GER
Barcelona ESP
Man Utd Eng

I really do think he will become the next england manager. It seems like the right move

He won't go the barca, they hate him there, and he does not play the football they want. Munich would be way too strict on the money he could spend, Manchester United I'm not so sure about, I think Moyes or Klopp will go there next. Should City not win the league, he will go there I think. I would personally love to see him as england manager, all english fans love Jose. Come on people, admit it!

Rafa's Purple Goatie

No way will he ever go to Barcelona , he's way to negative there fans would end up killing him.

Tom.

Couldnt care less.

Who cares

I predict that Mourinho will now go on a career-defining venture to overcome Barcelona. He'll move to United, where he'll do well in the Champions' League but poorly in the league. Having reached a CL final in his first season (but lost to Barca) he'll be given another 3-5 years but despite losing another CL final, their falling behind in the league will be too much for the board and he will be replaced by Martin O'Neill. Mourinho will leave mid-season after a public fallout with the club. Kenny Dalglish, having led Liverpool to their first league title in over 20 years, will retire to spend more time with his family, shocking everyone. In a sensational move, Mourinho will take over in the summer. He'll lead Liverpool to the CL final within 2 seasons, where they'll beat Barcelona by 3 goals to 2, with Mesut Ozil scoring the winning goal.

Apart from that, I really can't see how this has anything to do with LFC...

Suarez is a wonderful creative player. The team should be built around him.
