Use our rumours form to send us liverpool transfer rumours.

07 Dec 2017 22:07:39
For me this team is probably one qulaity CB and one quality CDM away from being serious and regular title challengers! Our attacking threat is phenomenal. A quality CB who is a leader eg De Vrij and a quality CDM like Kante (I know we won’t get him but somebody of that mould) I believe that with the other players in our team we would win the league. Karius would be my keeper over Mignolet. If Coutinho leaves then sign Lemar or Meyer. If he doesn’t then I’d maybe look at buying a young winger (I know we have ojo Kent etc. ) however I don’t think they’ll make it with us which is sad because I had high hopes for them. But if we signed someone around 21 who can step in when needed maybe grey from Leicester and we have a quality and depthy team. YNWA looking forward to this round of 16 draw, role on whoever we get.

Keita is Not a CDM.

08 Dec 2017 07:06:31
Not just a CB, we need a goalkeeper other than Mignolet. That is, by far, our biggest area of weakness at the moment.

08 Dec 2017 07:48:48
He said Kante, not Keita 🙄.

08 Dec 2017 08:03:08
Keita?

08 Dec 2017 08:43:01
Kante is not a CDM. Klopp needs to find his own Souness. A complete midfielder if he doesn’t want a specialist! I would consider Jorginho myself. Different genre but excellent player. We should also tie down Can to a new contract. He is going to be a special player!

08 Dec 2017 08:48:38
Did he say Keita was a DM?

To be honest, if we are going to switch to this 4-4-2 permanently, we don't need an out and our DM. That was only a requirement when we had 3 midfielders in the 4-3-3. A midfield 3 takes more communication to function so the easiest way around it is to have clearly defined roles (DM, B2B and AM) . Otherwise you end up with 3 B2B players all going at the same time leaving us exposed. A dedicated DM who never gets forward resolved that issue.

However, in a midfield 2 there isn't as much need for communication. If your partner goes, you sit. If you go, your partner sits. It takes away the ambiguity and the confusion of who should cover. So therefore Keita, Gini, Can and Henderson would all be capable. Can will leave though so we'll have Milner as the 4th choice. Klopp likes him and won't force him out. If Milner chooses to leave for more football though (which is likely as he came here to play) then it's far more likely we will sign another B2B player. Hopefully it will be someone who is still decent at contributing defensively because we can still be a bit soft at times.

Klopp does not believe in a DM though. If he changes his system to the 4-4-2 permanently, he can get away with it. It looks like he might have learnt that now. If he goes back to a 4-3-3 and still neglects to sign a DM, Klopp won't be here beyond the end of next season because we'll start conceding loads of goals again.

08 Dec 2017 09:16:22
“ However, in a midfield 2 there isn't as much need for communication. If your partner goes, you sit. If you go, your partner sits. ”

This is clearly not working MK, Hence we will buy a specialist!

08 Dec 2017 09:26:17
Who said you don’t need a DM in 4-4-2? What has a DM got to do with any kind of formation! How does his role changes in relation to formation? A holding mid is necessary regardless of any kind of formation. Protecting the back 4 means protecting the back 4 under any kind of circumstances and formations. It does not change one bit. 4-3-3 or 4-4-2, Matic remains Matic!
Atletico Madrid plays 4-4-2 and Gabi is a DM of the highest quality! How about 4-2-3-1? Mascherano, Alonso, Coquelin, Romeu, Matic and countless others.

We need to stop revolutionizing football with “ one sit other attack “ let one sit permanently and his partner attack! Simple! Why over complicating!

08 Dec 2017 10:08:59
Agreed Harry, I don’t think formation negates the need for a DM here. 442 or 433, I feel we need protection in front of the defence. The one going and one sitting and then rotating sounds great in theory but when you have players who’s natural instinct is to attack, they will leave gaps. I’d rather we get in a solid DM and keep it simple.

08 Dec 2017 13:04:24
MK - I normally agree with your posts, but think Harry is right on this one.

The way fullbacks/ wingbacks bomb on now (whether it be 3-5-2, 4-4-2 or 4-3-3), you've got to have one designated CM to will sit back and protect.

Little bit of reminiscing, and I know Mascherano/ Alonso/ Gerrard were a few years ago and not necessarily a 4-3-3 type midfield, but look how Mascherano sitting back breaking all the play up allowed Alonso to dictate play and Gerrard to push on with Torres.

Have to have someone sitting back in CM whatever the formation in my eyes.

08 Dec 2017 23:55:47
MK is correct. Klopp wants to play a double pivot in CM of two players who can both break up play, and switch defence into attack from jump. He is trying to do that with the mid's we have now but it is not working so he has tweaked it a bit. This is why Keita is coming. The perfect combo in CM pivot would be Kante-Keita BUT it ain't going to happen. Ed01 has said that this is what Klopp wants to do. You can disagree with that notion BUT Klopp does not want a traditional DM so calling for one all the time, is just tiresome and boring.

07 Dec 2017 21:31:45
Just wondering Eds why Klopp persists with Henderson in midfield and more importantly as captain. He's simply not up to scratch anymore, and is quite frankly at times a liability in the middle of the park with his continuos side passing. Is there a chance his days at the club are numbered and he'll be sold in the summer?

Believable5 Unbelievable18

{Ed002's Note - He is the Liverpool captain and a commited player. Would you rather give the armband to one of those not comited who wants out?}

07 Dec 2017 22:37:58
Hear hear ed02. Rather have a team of Henderson’s than Coutinhos. Ok maybe that’s an exaggeration, Hendo hasn’t been as effective this year as he has been in previous years but he is playing much deeper with much less freedom currently than he has previously. He is a box to box midfielder being made to play the no. 6 role. He’s never going to be a Gerrard, Kante, Fabregas etc but he can be effective and cares about the shirt. Enough said in my book. When on top form he’s one of the first names on the team sheet and I’m confident he will get back to that level. If we buy a dedicated CDM that will free Hendo to play his natural position which is currently being filled by Wiji, who is nowhere near as effective as Hendo is at that role.

07 Dec 2017 23:21:05
Just wondering Ed's why certain posters persist with spouting the same sideways passing nonsense against a player who has proven more than good enough. Instead of supporting him whilst he regains his form after a horrible ongoing heel injury, you use the sideways passing speil as a stick to beat hendo with despite him being asked to perform the role Klopp has instructed him too.

08 Dec 2017 03:37:08
Emre Can should have been awarded the armband. I would have given him personal assurances and captaincy ( he is certain to be one for his national team )

07 Dec 2017 23:32:01
Here we go again. Henderson does not always pass sideways. He simply is in there to keep the ball ticking over which is what Klopp would instruct him to do and Henderson does very well. How on earth do you expect to break teams down by playing the ball forward each time. Just use your common sense and realise that to break these teams down you have to move the ball from one side of the pitch to the other, preferably with speed. Then opportunities arise to play the ball forward whether that is Henderson or the other 10 players we have. Hopefully this will now widen your knowledge of the game that Liverpool like to play. Thank you.

{Ed001's Note - it is pointless mate, if they still think that then they simply haven't a clue.}

08 Dec 2017 08:45:20
Farmer, "How on earth do you expect to break teams down by playing the ball forward each time. . "

We did just that without Henderson's side passing vs Spartak. What you talking about?

08 Dec 2017 10:21:51
Dilakh, then why continue to play him if he keeps on struggling with a heel injury? It makes no sense whatsoever to play a player who is not in good form, captain or not. Perhaps I was a bit harsh, but its frustrating to see attacks break down because henderson wants to play it safe.

08 Dec 2017 10:51:37
Some people are clueless! You can’t go forward all the time. I’ve seen Hendo play many killer balls so the rubbish about him always passing sideways is a myth and your justbusing it to try and give your argument some substance. You don’t rate him, that’s your opinion but Donte make up things to try and justify it. get behind our players, we’re in a good place and your still not happy!

{Ed001's Note - give up mate, it is a waste of time, some people just don't understand football and would have hated Liverpool of the 80s when almost every pass went sideways.}

08 Dec 2017 12:19:54
go and watch salahs goal against spurs. one of the passes of the season from hendserson. he has the ability. he is being instructed to play this way. if he loses possession the position he is currently playing it will leave us exposed.

08 Dec 2017 12:59:57
I like Henderson, and don't necessarily agree with criticism about passing sideways, but I've noticed an issue with him this season is that he tends to get dribbled past a lot, leaving opposition players running straight at our defence with no protection. It seems to me that he rushes in too quickly to close down which leaves a big gap in front of the defence when they get around him.

Has anyone else noticed this?

08 Dec 2017 14:02:17
To be honest Kyles the one time I saw him get dribbled by constantly was the Chelsea game and that was because Hazard was having a field day because Hendo was getting no help from his midfield partners.

08 Dec 2017 14:06:51
Just aswell your not manger then harry isn't it, klopp is not going to do things just to suit you! your over excitement would more than likely have us in the national league in 4 years time.
Harry you keep rambling on about this and that are you the new moyes (football genius)? .
Opinions are exactly that but I fear you really believe things should be done your way, we'll reality check for you it's not going to happening in klopp we trust in harry we doubt.

09 Dec 2017 00:06:14
Harry, good thing Klopp will never do what you want. How can you give the arm band to a player who will be off in the summer? Clueless drivel, really. Klopp will never play, sign players or employ the tactics you want and you need to get over yourself cos all you have is an opinion, which are not facts.

As for Hendo's detractors who moronically go on and on about passing sideways, they would have hated the Barcelona teams of Cruyff and Pep who passed sideways all the time BUT cos Hendo does it (which is his job to keep possession and not force a pass forward to prove a stupid point), they start moaning like triggered haters. Pep, Xavi, Alonso passed sideways a thousand times in their careers cos they played in teams that like to possess the ball a lot, you know, LIKE WE DO. Wiji plays more sideways passes than Hendo does BUT funny enuff, he gets no stick for it. The bias is deafening there.

But hey, let's beat up on the boy cos he is not flashy or does not play forward passes which is patently false cos he plays diagonals almost as good as SG did in his time. As Ed01 said, we should all give up on these haters cos this is a losing battle to talk sense to them.

07 Dec 2017 21:05:47
Hi eds,

If Couts leaves next summer, why won't klopp try to use Brandt to replace him? Liverpool play 4-4-2 these days more often and he can certainly play on the left. Also, Brandt will be first choice on the left, ahead of Ox, and there is no need to worry about first team chances (which was why he rejected us) .

What do you think are the chances f=of Brandt coming next season to replace Couts?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Done to death - try the search engine.}

08 Dec 2017 01:02:33
If we are going 442 better Lemar than Brandt.

Firmino Salah
Lemar Keita Henderson Mane.

08 Dec 2017 08:44:00
Forget the formation coz courinho doesn’t have a fixed one in the first place. A specialist would never replace a playmaker. Brandt is not a playmaker whilst Lemar is the closest one in terms of creating the play from midfield.

Filling names on pitch wouldn’t get anything close to what Philippe Coutinho gives to the team.
Courinho is a midfielder who occupies space where and when available. He has no fixed position! You need to replace his attributes not his position!

07 Dec 2017 19:47:47
Has anyone used Liverpool tickets buy/ sell on Facebook before to get tickets? Are they legit?

08 Dec 2017 05:52:10
Yes and on Twitter. Never had any issues personally.

09 Dec 2017 10:24:46
Thanks for the reply.

Anyone know if Everton finishing third in their Europa group means they can enter the Checkdale Trophy?

07 Dec 2017 22:12:15
I thought finishing 3rd meant you get put into the Intertoto cup?

A few more points after speaking to Ed001.
Just a reminder as we need a fair few more for next summers charity football match in which it's Ed002 vs Ed001 being armchair managers.
Details:
£35 match fee per player
Held in the midlands at a floodlit pitch
Winning eds charity will receive 80% of money raised, whilst runner ups charity will receive 20% ( to give it the feel of competition)
The aim is to raise £1000
I've been tinkering with some programmes and streaming services, looks like the game will be able to be streamed to the posters which is great.
Any age is welcome to play, we have had a wide variety so far!
A lot of emails regarding not being able to play, but would like to donate to the eds charity. I've come up with the idea, that if people want to do that, they could donate to either eds charity, as a type of "I back you to win" donation. An we could get a poll going to see which team the posters back to win via donations :)
I've ran several football clubs an events so everything is in good hands. I'm friends with Dermot Gallagher also as he's from my town, and I'm sure I can get him to referee.
All we need is a few more sign ups, hoping to be able to pass everyone on to the eds this weekend so they can pick their teams.

I would skip my finals to watch ed002 vs ed001 in a soccer match. Granted, they'll be coaching, so maybe a wrestling match, or a simple race. This sounds like loads of fun; wish I wasn't across the pond.
If Harry plays I hope he's on ed002's team!

07 Dec 2017 17:26:53
A bit random but Dermot Gallagher used to live 3 doors away from me in banbury - rents the house out now.

07 Dec 2017 17:32:28
I once saw Dermot Gallagher completely off his face one afternoon in a pub in Oxford with Graham Poll, he made some smutty remarks about the rather large breasted barmaid and had to be virtually carried out of there he was so drunk. Was hilarious. Graham Poll told me to f*** off when I asked him if he still did that three card trick.

07 Dec 2017 17:49:21
Maybe we know each other Tim :)

07 Dec 2017 20:50:32
I did a training course in Banbury last year with Yaskawa. Great little place, lots of industry and some lovely pubs!

Looking forward to the game (assuming any of the Eds selects me 😂 I'm sure i could wrangle a linesman if needed Benny. Got a mate who is his Sunday league clubs dedicated lino home and away!

07 Dec 2017 21:14:54
Another one there for you benny lad.

07 Dec 2017 21:16:23
Has a date and venue been set for this?

07 Dec 2017 22:25:22
It be good to try and get people from same kind of area to be able to travel together, suppose that can come closer to the time tho.

07 Dec 2017 22:46:48
Do you have a rough date Benny Baller? I am willing to play but have a holiday and business travel next summer so don't want to be a let down if needed.

08 Dec 2017 09:11:38
Can I donate to each ed instead? love this idea but can't commit to the event.

{Ed033's Note - Other donation links should be put up at some time.

08 Dec 2017 11:24:15
No official date yet, I have to get in touch with my friend who will let us know about the stadium. It's not Wembley unfortunately, but a southern conference team. The aim is for one of the 5 Saturdays in June.

08 Dec 2017 12:56:33
Looking forward to getting to know more about this. recently just hung my boots up (at 25! : ( ) but would certainly dust them off!

08 Dec 2017 20:56:03
Thanks Ed33.

09 Dec 2017 12:25:18
How about donating for every goal scored?

07 Dec 2017 15:31:10
Afternoon all,

I'm a strong believer that Emre Can has already made his mind up to depart the club but he has made some noises to suggest he hasn't. This is probably using the media to ease any fan reaction but would love to know if the Eds are aware of any developments on the contract front. I know the original issue was playing time be his is pretty much an ever present and has defiantly developed this season. Would hate to lose him for free in the summer.

Thanks as always.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Nothing has changed.}

07 Dec 2017 20:01:53
He's on his way out barring any unforeseen circumstances. Time to move on, really.

07 Dec 2017 21:08:10
I would give him a couple of more games as a right sided centre back, he might just get to like that position, and decide to stay, we keep winning, and they all stay .

07 Dec 2017 16:43:45
I have to say I thought wiji did quite well last night- particularly in the first half. He never stopped harrying them and spotting trouble in the first half and certainly seemed to make an impact. The team as a whole were outstanding but after quite a while of him coasting through games barely getting involved, it was refreshing. Great review as always ed.

07 Dec 2017 16:26:44
Great review of a great performance eds.
Made myself laugh this morning, I imagined fat Sam watching that performance turning to little Sam and saying "we're going to need a bigger bus" in Jaws style.

{Ed001's Note - hahaha yeah I can see his face dropping as he watched that.}

07 Dec 2017 17:35:40
I honestly thought Wijnaldum was a waste of money when we bought him. But he’s really grown into the centre midfield role, he was disciplined and used the ball efficiently as well as getting a few tackles in. Good performance.

07 Dec 2017 17:36:26
Nice review Ed and completely agree about Coutinho respecting the captains role with respects to Moreno's injury - exactly how a captain should be - think Hendo needs to take note as he seems completely lacking when it comes to his interpersonal skills. Very impressive game from the team though, quality throughout.

07 Dec 2017 17:39:53
Very good ed01.

07 Dec 2017 18:16:04
Think PC and Alberto are BFF from all the social media pics, but still nice touch.

{Ed001's Note - they are very good friends.}

07 Dec 2017 18:09:17
Best review I've read on the game Ed. We'll done for pointing out how good we were and how bad we made them look.

Everyone else seems to think Spartak were just bad, and made us look good.

Obviously you have to play pretty poorly to lose 7-0, but still! Take nothing away from our boys. If winning 7-0 in the Champions league was easy, then we wouldn't have been the only team to do it so far this season!

07 Dec 2017 20:18:33
Great one, Ed. Spot on, MK. If you are winning 7-0 in a the CL and you manage to do that twice both at home and away, then you are doing something right and the manager and players should get all the credit. As for Everton and Big Sam, he will prolly ask for a waiver from the PL to play 15 players instead of 11 cos frankly, that may be their only hope of not just getting a point (they will lose on Sun) BUT just to not conceding 4 goals with the way our boys are playing now.

07 Dec 2017 22:28:22
Cheers Ed great review as always! An emphatic win and classy performance all round. As you say it's nit picking to look for negatives but Sturridge clearly not on the same wavelength as our other attackers. Seems like Solanke is a better option atm which is a real pity as Sturridge is superb when on form.

08 Dec 2017 00:38:47
Guys, it's still Everton, the players are still going to be up for it so I doubt it'll be a 4-0 thumping (I'd like it to be. ) game plans get ignored in derby matches.

08 Dec 2017 04:57:30
Good review Ed

Few questions remain for me
- They pressed high but didn’t have the game for it. We responded well with some good distribution from the back and that left them exposed. how well we respond to being pressed by better opposition will be key (we didn’t respond well vs. Tottenham for example) .
- Agree on Sturridge, he just looks like he’s playing a different sort of game to be honest. He movement doesn’t have the same alertness, pace and menace, is it because he’s not getting enough game time to fit in, or is it more fundamental? Would really like to see Solanke given a shot. Or alternatively move Mane upfront and Ox to the wide positions as Ox seems to be adapting better to the type of movement we’re looking for than Sturridge at the moment.
- love Hendo and hate the bashing he gets, but still think Can gives us something else sitting deep. what will we do when/ if he leaves? Feels like we’ll be a bit exposed unless Keita can do the job?

07 Dec 2017 18:10:55
Just read your review ed001 and must say it was an excellent summation of the game - thank you, in particular your view on Coutinho who surprised and impressed me how he stepped up to the captain's role. I also liked how he was standing over Moreno when he got injured, comforting him and supporting him like a good captain.
You see I don't always disagree with you.

By the way, the reason he was given the armband, because of the starting 11 he was the longest serving . it just shows how young the team is.

07 Dec 2017 13:45:47
Ed 001 if your around or any eds please could you give me your opinion on Lee Jones I know he was rated very highly by a few but suffered some really bad injuries but do you reckon he could of made it with us if he had stayed clear of those terrible blows.
Was he good enough or might he have been another who was good at youth level but not good enough for first team honours?
Thank you.

07 Dec 2017 13:17:59
Just read that Perr Schuurs has signed with Ajax. Best of luck to him. It's a shame we couldn't sign him from what I read about him he could really kick on to be a great player.

Eds, any reason how Ajax beat us to him? He seemed fairly set for us only a few weeks ago?

Many thanks in advance

Red Sandman.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - he was never fairly set for us, he was made a number of offers by a number of clubs and chose Ajax's one as the best one for him at this stage of his career.}

07 Dec 2017 13:24:09
I am happy he chose a club where he can play week in week out! Well done!

07 Dec 2017 14:15:08
He could turn out to be a great player, however I really think Joe Gomez is our future at CB so we need an experience player to play alongside him.

07 Dec 2017 13:14:06
Hey all, I've been away for a couple of weeks and haven't been watching the games, I'm pleased to see that Klopp continues to make me look foolish for doubting him.

I'm interested in how we've set up with the 'fab four'? Has Couts been playing #10 in a 4-2-3-1 or has he been playing in a midfield 3?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

07 Dec 2017 13:26:24
I think they played a 4-4-2 very narrow, mane and coutinho wide firmino salah top.

07 Dec 2017 13:28:10
Phil doesn’t have a specific position especially when he occupies one of the spot in midfiled. He picks the ball from where liverpool dispossess the oppposition and carries it forward. He is one of those players who doesn’t have a position! Klopp doesn’t play a rigid formation. His front 3 just moves around according to the needs while Coutinho juts picks their runs. Just like ignore the money part of a transfer ignore his true position. He doesn’t have one!
Philippe courinho is vision!

07 Dec 2017 13:31:10
Its hard to pin down coz it changes every game!
Last night tho he was playing on the left of a midfield 4 as a wide playmaker. We were set up as 4-4-2 last night, with Mo and Bobby up top. But our attacking players were so fluid that you couldn't really say they were playing in a rigid formation.

07 Dec 2017 14:09:35
It’s changed almost every game - and in a good way. We seem to be mix and matching from an 3-4-3 (where Gomez plays more as a third CB) to a 4-3-3, and in the last game to a 4-4-1-1

Against Spartak Salah played very centrally with Firmino very close to him, and then Coutinho and Mane were bursting forward from wide and slightly deeper to create the ‘fab 4’ in attack everyone’s been referring to. The movement was so fluid though that defenders struggled to follow the movement and one touch passing. The second goal was a thing of beauty.

Can and Gini together with the fullbacks largely sat deeper to control midfield and protect against the counter.

07 Dec 2017 14:16:38
Last night we started as a 443 with couts in the "8" position but then we switched to a narrow 442.

07 Dec 2017 16:46:12
443 eh 🤔😂✌.

07 Dec 2017 18:05:15
It was more of a 4-4-2 as VakPa said. Coutinho left midfield, Mane right midfield, with Firmino playing just off of Salah. It's the same system we used to slaughter West Ham. I think it may well be the future for us under Klopp. It is perfect for the counter attacking style, and allows us to sit back deeper and concede less without affecting our goal scoring.

It was a joy to watch. If Coutinho leaves and we persist with this formation, you'd say that we are better off targeting a player most comfortable on the wide left now rather than an attacking midfielder. It makes the prospect of signing Lemar very, very exciting.

07 Dec 2017 19:01:45
Whatevwr the setup, the main thing is that coutinho is freed from central midfield duties and can focus the majority of his game on influencing the attack. We should all know ny now that the attacking group don't rrally play in positions. Yesterday seemed like it was a
4-2-goforthandconquer type of formation.

07 Dec 2017 20:24:37
The formation IMO, was a hybrid 4-4-2 that can morph into a 4-3-3 or a 4-2-3-1 with Can and Wiji in the double pivot in CM with Cou and Mane on either side of Firmino behind Salah up top. Teams can't figure us out up top cos all 4 players are able to occupy almost every position in the forward line seamlessly and that will give any team fits. The bus parkers had better beware. If you park the boss, we will score 3-5 goals. If you don't, we will score 5-7 goals. Loving it. We are not the finished article yet which shows how good this team can actually be with more additions in critical areas. On to Everton.

07 Dec 2017 21:15:36
great to see how our team is evolving into a force to be reckoned with,
I bet Salah is happy that he signed for us, we are a match made in heaven .

07 Dec 2017 23:15:19
klopp said last night in the post match presser that it was a 4411 with couts left mane right firminio upfront and salah between the lines.

07 Dec 2017 11:26:48
Ed001.

Wound like you opinion opinion if I may.

Merseyside Derby, I personally think we should stick with same team that beat Spartak last night, agree?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - Moreno probably needs a rest and I would personally think Henderson would be a better choice than Wijnaldum. I normally go with the 'never change a winning team' philosophy but all the changes are working wonders at the moment as opponents are unable to prepare and set up to face us.}

07 Dec 2017 12:54:28
I predict:
Henderson in for Wijnaldum or Can.
Milner or Robertson in for Moreno.
Mignolet in for Karius.

07 Dec 2017 13:11:48
Henderson will play ping pong with CB n GK and hurt our forward momentum!

{Ed001's Note - you really are a tit. Embarrassing pathetic moronic crap you spout over and over ruining every thread with your idiocy. You said this stupidity once, now shut up and shove it up your backside, no one wants to read your gormless comments messing up every thread and turning a decent convo into your bitching about a player who you don't have the footballing intelligence to discuss. Just leave the football talk to the adults because you haven't a clue.}

07 Dec 2017 13:16:11
Milner to come in for Moreno. Klopp won’t drop Wiji for anyone!

07 Dec 2017 13:22:39
Salah, Mane, Firmino and Coutinho must be looking forward to another goal fest.

07 Dec 2017 13:49:23
Defo agree regardfmg Moreno, was at the match last night and he looked to be in a lot of pain. He tried to shake off the knock but was unable to do so.

I thought Gini played well last night along with Can.

07 Dec 2017 14:20:07
RelaxBrudder you haven't got a clue about football at all keep of the fourm your embarrassing edds your spot on with your remarks all he's doing is talking crap and putting players down. Great work as usual edds.

07 Dec 2017 14:20:15
Hendo will 100% come in for the derby, in my opinion for Can. I was at the game last night a few rows from the pitch and I was surprised how much Gini actually talks and noses the players around, he had a right to at Milner for not helping down the touch line, it was just good to see when we were about 5 up at the time. I'd like to Robertson play if Moreno is out but it will likely be Milner with it being a derby.

07 Dec 2017 14:25:15
Ed, if you were watching the Live Chat last night you’d have seen Relax and his partner in crime SG8 really shine as the pair of clowns they are, ruin a good chat that pair.

{Ed001's Note - I don't think I have even seen SG8 but relax just talks utter nonsense all the time.}

07 Dec 2017 15:00:34
Relax has to be a troll.

I’d like to see the same team start apart from Hendo in for Gini to give him a rest (sitting a little deeper alongside Can), then play Robbo in for Moreno due to his injury.

I’d also like to see us start a similar team to Spartak most weeks, but then make substitutes a little earlier to rest Mane, Firmino, Salah and Coutinho as required.

07 Dec 2017 17:46:55
its very easy to spot a troll especially in the live chat, even when you are wining 5-0 they always find something to moan about just PATHETIC always ignore these idiots.

07 Dec 2017 20:30:04
A moaner/ trol will always moan/ troll. It is like an emotional trigger for such people. However I would not be too hard on Relax. Why? I go to the This Is Anfield site and you should read the utter bile and abuse that Hendo gets and trust me, Relax is schoolboy compared to the abject and brainless rants they spout about Hendo. As Ed said, many whine about Hendo, a player they lack the footballing intelligence to discuss. (I'm keeping that one, Ed. )

07 Dec 2017 23:24:23
just a feelilng but i think there will be 4 changes for sunday, i think trent arnold for gomez, hendo for can/ gini, chamberlain for salah/ mane and ofcourse the usual mignolet for karius.
we are still playing another 3 games in the upcoming 7 days then 5 days until the arsenal game then 4 games in 10 days from the arsenal game so i expect klopp to rotate as he's been doing.

07 Dec 2017 22:11:56
Ed001 when I read your first comment, my immediate reaction was to laugh so hard i sprayed my drink over my computer screen, my second reaction was to say "tell me what you really think":-)

{Ed001's Note - my first comment? I didn't think my mention of Moreno was that funny personally ;-)

I did have to retype what I said a few times to remove swear words etc and put it in as nice a way as possible. So I wasn't actually saying what I really think!}

07 Dec 2017 12:20:45
Ed002 if you're about matet. I was certain couts was off to Barcelona in January but does Liverpool involvement in the last 16 sway his way off thinking cause he'd be cuptied with Barcelona and surely he wants to have the opportunity to win this cup with us. you think maybe he'll agree to sign for them in January but move in the summer . cheers if you reply bud would like to here you're thoughts. ps with RBL out of champions league is it possible we get Naby January or is it wishful thinking 👍.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - You need to put any thoughts about timescales out of your mind. To be clear. Coutinho wishes to leave Liverpool for Barcelona - spending 90 minutes as captain or reaching the next round in the CL will not change that.}

07 Dec 2017 12:32:15
Ok fair enough thanks for the quick reply . I know he wants out matet just I was thinking players all go on about champions league and to throw away the chance to play in the last 16 with us would be strange if he still had the opportunity to join his dream club in the summer. that’s all bud I know making him captain was nothing to do with making him stay. cheers.

{Ed002's Note - It really doesn't work like that. Barcelona met more than once with Liverpool during November to try and get agreement by the 30th as I have explained. His agent visited Boston with two member of his family to try to get FSG to agree to the sale because the player is so keen to move on. No doubt Coutinho will now be concerned that Barcelona will also consider other options as has already been explained.}

07 Dec 2017 13:10:28
Is Verrati not there first choice anymore?

{Ed002's Note - Verratti plays in a different position and is one of a number of players they have considered as an Iniesta replacement - unrelated to Coutinho where they have alternatives to Coutinho to consider. We are beginning to go around in a circle with this.}

07 Dec 2017 17:44:21
I do agree with you Ed that Couts will go but how can you possibly know what will and won’t affect his decision? You say 90 minutes as captain won’t change that. The next stage of the CL won’t change that. How can you possibly claim to know the inner workings of Coutinho’s mind? Like everyone else you are just guessing. Let’s just see what happens.

{Ed001's Note - he has made it clear he wants to leave, it is not guessing to know that he wants out.}

07 Dec 2017 19:56:17
I think we're just hoping that last night gave Coutinho a change of heart and now he wants to stay forevs, we know coutinho wants/ ed to leave but like ings n things says we can't really tell what song is being sung in Coutinhos head right now.

07 Dec 2017 22:13:03
i just want him to work hard until he leaves.

07 Dec 2017 22:00:27
No point in clutching st straws, you can see his heart’s not in it.
I personally couldn’t bring myself to sing his name last night, not sure how others felt that were at the game?

07 Dec 2017 12:15:56
I'm increasingly frustrated that Ward hasn't been given more opportunities and if he's really had a bust up with Karius and Klopp or whatever its gna be ashame if that's the end of his Liverpool Career. Personally I think he definitely has the most potential out of the three.

Is it true that he played for Wales recently? And if so why is it that whenever we play I see his name out from a back injury? What's going on eds and breds?

Believable1 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - Ward is not injured.}

07 Dec 2017 12:27:13
He has caused problems behind the scenes.

07 Dec 2017 12:27:37
Is he attending training then? Doesn't sound good to me. Can see him being shipped in January if this is the case which I will be disappointed with as I think he could play at the top level.

07 Dec 2017 20:32:00
Jah, calm down, man. I know Klopp has mismanaged the GK issue and should have let ward go play elsewhere cos clearly, he does not fancy him BUT your post is way OTT, mate.

08 Dec 2017 14:20:10
Sometimes it seems the key to being considered a top player on this site is not playing.

07 Dec 2017 11:40:09
Keita scored a nice goal last night. When he comes which position is he most suited to in that midfield three we played last night. Wijnaldums position?

Believable1 Unbelievable1

07 Dec 2017 12:09:54
I would think so, and it would be a very positive move, Wini, has so good moments, but has way too many safe sideways and back passes for me, Keita would drive us forward even more .

07 Dec 2017 12:13:34
I thought Can and Gini were in a double pivot. When one attacked, the other sat back and vice versa.

Considering Can is leaving next summer at the latest, I'd say Keita will likely take his place. Henderson, Gini, Milner (if he stays) and Keita would then compete for the 2 midfield positions.

The front 4 is more interesting though. Mane, Salah, Firmino, Lallana, Woodburn, Chamberlain and Solanke are the only guys you'd expect will still be here next season. Origi will probably sign for Wolfsburg, Coutinho for Barcelona, Brewster looks likely to go to Dortmund, plus Sturridge and/ or Ings will most likely want first team football. But looking at the options already at the club and not looking like going anywhere for at least another season, it's hard to see any major motivation to replace Coutinho. I suppose just to maintain the quality in depth of having 2 good players for all positions it would be good to get Lemar, Meyer, Brandt or Draxler. Coutinho is still a key player, attitude or not.

God knows what will happen at the back though 😂.

07 Dec 2017 13:05:09
Kieta as a holding mid would be one of the dumbest thing on the football pitch. He should play alongside either Can or a proper holding mid. That’s all! Your midfiled is sorted. Both Henderson and Wijnaldum can sit on the bench!

07 Dec 2017 18:06:49
Harry i don't know how many times you need to be told, but we don't play with a holding mid. I agree with you that we should. I'd personally shunt Milner out the door and go for N'Zonzi.

However, Klopp likes mobile midfielders capable of playing everywhere between the two penalty boxes. Keita, Gini, Hendo and Milner can all do that all day long. So unless Klopp has a change of heart, or Milner asks to leave for more first team football, i strongly expect that to be our midfield roster for next season.

Lallana, Woodburn and Chamberlain are all capable of playing in midfield if Klopp chooses to revert to the 4-3-3. You don't play a holding midfielder in a 4-4-2 though. You play two box to box players with a decent understanding so that one player is always sitting back while the other attacks. I expect the first choice pairing will be Keita and Henderson, with Gini taking Henderson's spot in European games to manage his heel injury.

I'm only making a prediction mate. It's not what i would do, just what i expect Klopp to do. He doesn't see the need for a defensive midfielder so we don't need to bring it up every other thread.

07 Dec 2017 20:38:17
Spot on, MK. Klopp no longer plays with a traditional DM like he once did with Kehl, and Bender at BVB (almost a decade ago) . He even played with Sahin, a brilliant DLP when they won the league and Sahin was player of the year.

As MK and Ed01 said, Klopp wants to play a double pivot of mobile players who can break up play, press and switch defence to attack, all in one go. You and I may disagree with that BUT that fact has not changed. There is a reason Naby is coming and the goal he scored in the CL proves why.

Klopp wants high energy, mobility and speed in CM. If for ex., we could get a double pivot in CM of Keita-Kante, then that would be the perfect blend, IMO for Klopp. Like it or not, that is the reality so bleating on and on about getting a traditional midfield on every thread, is just an exercise in futility.

07 Dec 2017 22:18:25
MKS - I would agree with most of what you have said. However given that Liverpool have already tried and failed to shift Sturridge and only sent Origi out on loan because they failed to get rid of Sturridge, I suspect that they will try again. So presuming they succeed then I would expect Origi to stay and Sturridge to leave.
Im also hoping they will manage to keep hold of Brewster and start giving him first team opportunities next year. But Dortmund do have the advantage of a more open path to the first team (assuming they get rid of Aubedingdong)

07 Dec 2017 10:50:02
Just to answer anybody's questions about why Mignolet and Coutinho have been captains this season.

Klopp has a captain (Henderson) and a vice captain (Milner) . After that, he will give the armband to whoever is the longest serving player on the day. It's just a belief of his. There are no hidden messages. Coutinho still wants to leave, and Klopp still intends to phase Mignolet out.

Believable9 Unbelievable3

07 Dec 2017 11:31:32
Very insightful post MK.

07 Dec 2017 12:13:35
giving Couts the Captains role last night could be planting a seed, Couts might just be feeling what an honour it was, then he goes on to score a hat trick and man of the match,
could be a game changer .

{Ed002's Note - Don't be ridiculous.}

07 Dec 2017 13:08:54
If anything, Coutinho’s performances would bring more scouts to Anfield.

07 Dec 2017 13:11:07
copy someone comment in the other post. lol.

07 Dec 2017 17:50:33
Thanks for the information really appreciated.

07 Dec 2017 20:39:03
That was pretty clear, MK.

07 Dec 2017 10:31:33
Does anyone know why lallana has gone awol? Not even on the bench for the last couple of games, has he suffered another setback? In a period where we are rotating quite a lot he would be very useful.

Believable1 Unbelievable2

07 Dec 2017 10:45:04
I don't think he's match fit yet mate.

07 Dec 2017 10:58:11
I'm going to guess it's letting him build back up to full fitness as we are coping well without him. I was surprised not being on the bench for Brighton anyway maybe give him 20 mins.

07 Dec 2017 11:16:03
Slight set back after the sub appearance he made the other week. they're jsut being careful with him.

07 Dec 2017 12:15:37
bringing on Lallana V Chelsea came too soon, he should have had a couple of U23 games maybe .

07 Dec 2017 13:10:16
Coz he won’t replace any first teamer! That front 4 is best in the league and I don’t know who is going to the bench for Lallana?

07 Dec 2017 20:39:43
Harry, I thought you said City had the best front 4 in the PL?

07 Dec 2017 10:30:54
Is our defence really that bad?

If you discount the two games that we've got an absolute pasting (City and Spurs) we have only conceded 10 goals in 13 other league matches.

That's not a bad record at all.

Added to that we've had 5 clean sheets out of 15 games, also not a bad record.

The games against City and Spurs were anomalies in our season. City we lost a man early on and our heads dropped, Spurs were just on fire and we missed a couple of chances. The final score was irrelevant, merely that fact that we lost.

If we had lost both games 1-0 we would have the 3rd best defensive record in the league.

We all know we need a bit more solidity in Defence but when you look at the stats it shows we aren't that far away from have a very solid team.

To me it shows we need a leader not simply a good defender. A leader would have prevented Sevilla getting 3 goals back, a leader would have locked up our defence after we scored away against Newcastle, a leader could have rallied the team at Burnley and turned a draw into a victory, a leader would've prevented the Watford comeback first game of the season.

Anyway, hopefully a bit of positivity on a Thursday morning hopefully.

Have a great day all.

Believable7 Unbelievable0

07 Dec 2017 10:44:30
I think a lot of people's issues has been first the timing of many of those goals (totally unnecessary, against the run of play when we were in total control) and on several occasions, how shocking easy it has been to score some of them with barely a challenge attempted or the simplest of flicks sending our defenders to the North Pole. But the last 5 games have definitely been a massive improvement.

07 Dec 2017 11:03:05
Unfortunately we possess defenders who are error prone so at any moment they can be liable to complete lapses which usually cost us goals. That while not ideal you can deal with if it's not weekly.
What has been improved but still not great at all is defending set pieces there is really no excuse for some of the individual and team errors while defending set pieces.

Finally we have a keeper and that's all I'll say there.

07 Dec 2017 11:06:33
Apologies meant to add re leader I do think that is key as this would hopefully solve some of the set piece problems if you have an organizer. Also when a mistake occurs keeping the team steady for the following 5-10 minutes and re gain a footing which we have also been poor at.

07 Dec 2017 11:28:00
agree with Shane, replace leader with organizer and i think the OP is spot on.

07 Dec 2017 12:19:41
good post RedDawn, you can also add the Chelsea game to that list, a bit of a tweak, and we could have beaten a very good top four team .

07 Dec 2017 14:34:14
I still think a top goal keeper would sort out most of our issues at the back. keeping is not merely shot stopping. It organising and positioning. What a good keeper will do is communicate with his defence to prevent the save needing to be made.
Unfortunately neither of our 2 possess this. it reminds me of the day of calamity James in goals.

07 Dec 2017 20:48:05
Spot on, Shane and the OP. Redphil, that is the prob, is it not? People keep saying that we need to bring in a top GK. Brilliant, I agree. Who would it be? Courtois, Lloris, Oblak, DDG? Who? These guys are all taken and their clubs won't sell cos they know how hard top GK's are to come by. Would you sell if you were them. Bottom line is that since we can't get a top GK (Hart and Butland are no better than Karius, I'm sorry), you are better off creating your own like the teams who have them now, did when they got them as unproven in the PL.

We have Karius who IMO, the manager believes in, a very talented GK who makes very little mistakes overall and has the skill set the manager wants to play in his system, same with that of Ederson at City. The only thing he lacks is experience and a good defence in front of him to protect him while he learns the ropes. He brings more calm and stability to the defence when he has played this season and has committed one error in the 7 games he's played in overall.

I say, build him up, give him a shot as the starter long term and put in a system to protect him while he finds his feet at this level. Mistakes will happen BUT you have to stick with it cos like it or not, NONE of those top GK's will be coming here anytime soon.

07 Dec 2017 10:22:13
Ed. Reading previously from yourself that Couts wants out and has been disruptive (complaining) in training. Do you think giving him as much game time and the captains armband last night is a ploy by Klopp to change his mind and stay?

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - No.}

07 Dec 2017 10:31:56
hes not staying mate, its either in january or summer, whichever one that will be agreed on.

07 Dec 2017 11:44:04
Win the champions league and he won't go anywhere.

07 Dec 2017 12:20:29
Get in there Robbie .

07 Dec 2017 09:57:38
Which volley was better;

Salah vs Stoke?

Mane vs Spartak?

Very similar goals but i think Mane's edges it for me as the delivery was much harder to control forcing him to readjust his body to get over the ball.

Both stunning goals though. Who doesn't love and absolute cannon on the full volley!

Believable9 Unbelievable0

07 Dec 2017 10:13:51
I think Klopp's new pearly whites stole the show.

07 Dec 2017 10:32:25
Mane's volley looked better for the reasons you stated MK.

07 Dec 2017 12:06:41
I’d go Mane, he changed his technique at the last second to side foot it in, brilliant.

07 Dec 2017 12:23:20
I am going for the Salah V Stoke volley, as it came in a tougher moment in the game .

07 Dec 2017 09:45:39
What a night, we are ridiculously good at going forward, could of easily broke the record! Who do we want in the next round then?

Believable5 Unbelievable0

07 Dec 2017 10:05:39
Anyone. We 'll have to beat them all eventually.

And how about Joe tomato? Better and better the lad is getting.

07 Dec 2017 10:08:48
Since the 4-1 loss to Spurs we've scored 32 goals and conceded just 6, in 9 games. 7 wins and 2 draws.

Talk about bouncing back.

I hope we get Real Madrid to be honest. We're supposed to be in the CL to play against the best teams in Europe, so let's knock the holders out and make everyone take note 💪🏻.

07 Dec 2017 12:08:38
He’s doing so well Davey! Agree MK I want Real Madrid too but it’s a different level of threat they’ve got but honestly can’t see anyone stopping us scoring.

07 Dec 2017 13:35:57
why does everyone ask this square tomato solely about joe gomez? is he his best mate or something what am I missing?

07 Dec 2017 15:41:54
I wouldn’t say best mate Les.

07 Dec 2017 09:03:10
What a pleasure it is to be a Liverpool fan at the moment, the intricate passing and movement is so great to watch. The intelligent pass from Firmino for the 2nd was a real highlight for me, good decision making in the final 3rd seems so rare at any level, I would suggest it’s unlikely Coutinho would have made that run if he was playing with a more selfish striker. can’t wait til Sunday!

Believable4 Unbelievable0

07 Dec 2017 05:38:14
Hi Eds, three part request here.

Would someone be able to give us an update on the players who are currently injured i. e. Clyne, Grujic, Matip and Moreno.

Additionally can you tell us what you know about Liverpool's plans in terms of loaning players out in January? Which are we planning to keep and which to loan if we can find an appropriate destination? Anyone being recalled for whatever reason?

Lastly is there anyone else in either the first team, reserves or coaching staff who's contracts are running out or are otherwise going to leave around January? (Aside from Can obviously) .

Thanks heaps in advance.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - (a) Clyne and Matip are injured and the club will not commit to a return date. Obviously there cannot be any news on Moreno until the injury is assessed. Grujic is available and has simply hurt his finger - it won't stop him leaving on loan in January. (b) Grujic will go on loan. Right now Klopp is not allowing others to leave who want a loan - such as Ings and Robertson. No one will be recalled to the squad - if players are not getting game time Liverpool, with whatever terms there are in the contracts, may look for alternate solutions. (c) No.}

07 Dec 2017 16:14:57
Thanks for that mate. Surprised that Klopp doesn't want to let the likes of Ings go on loan, is the idea to continue his recovery in the reserves or to eventually bring him back into the first team squad? Has Robertson asked for a loan? Hadn't heard that one. Are the any loaned players that the club is dissatisfied with their game time? Any word on the Sturridge situation re: a loan/ transfer in January? Thanks again mate.

{Ed002's Note - I have no idea why Klopp doesn't want a loan for Ings - perhaps he is hedging his bets for the second half of the season. Robertson has made clear that the move was a mistake and needs to figure out a way forward. If he is not going to get more than a very occasional chance then he has to consider his options. Without the structure of a loan system, kids promised first team football by heigher end clubs will be taking their chances with their futures. I am not aware of anything happening with Sturridge right now but there is certainly a chance that Real Betis would give him game time on loan and that might be attractive to the player.}

07 Dec 2017 08:15:23
On a side note, good win for u19's too, Woodburn, Camacho, Adam Lewis, Jones, Brewster all looking very useful.

07 Dec 2017 08:09:18
How does the current side compare to Klopp's best Dortmund sides?

Suspect this LFC side would win the Bundesliga.

Believable3 Unbelievable3

07 Dec 2017 10:14:56
No, not a chance. That Dortmund side had a defence capable of winning the bundesliga and besting one of the strongest teams in Europe twice in Bayern Munich. Going forward yeah I’d agree, but overall no way. Don’t get carried away, but remain positive.

Question for ed001, when we play like we did last night do we force defences into errors or is it fear that they make the errors.

i can't tell if its us cuasing that or if they cause it themselves.

thanks.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - both. We forced some of the errors, some they made themselves because they expected to be closed down so rushed their passes.}

07 Dec 2017 08:34:48
Mane won the ball back for 2 of our goals.

07 Dec 2017 08:58:14
thanks for the quick reply ed.

I no our defence get a lot of critisism and a lot of the time rightly so, but there are so few top quality defenders around now a days that with our attack we could be competative in both the prem and cl. With every new generation there seems to be an obsession with being a new way of playing and im not sure its for the better this time. Most fullbacks are no longer full backs but second wingers, and most centre backs are now just deep lying playmakers.

countless times i see cb's look surprised that a ball is played in behind and there is no one there, like it wasnt there job to be there and defend that. Its like the old motto for the back 4 was defend 1st support the attack if you can, the new motto is attack 1st defend if you can.

{Ed001's Note - it worries me too mate, people have forgotten that there are more ways to win than having the ball. You can defend by actually defending, rather than keeping the ball. It is about time people took a more balanced approach.}

07 Dec 2017 07:59:22
We've got the best attack in the world. We've got phil coutinho, sadio mane, salah and firmino.

Believable7 Unbelievable0

07 Dec 2017 08:11:45
46 goals between them now. 46!

I said the other day they'd score 80 this season and I take it back. They could score 100 at this rate!

07 Dec 2017 08:16:29
Be nice to see coutinho smile every now and then though! A hatrick in the champions league and not even a smirk.

07 Dec 2017 09:00:40
lfceeboy

when couts scored his second he showed passion running towards the fans to celebrate, he didn't smile but gave that gritted teeth come on sort of thing. And to be fair that's exactly what klopp does, klopp doesn't smile when we score in fact he looks like a maniac lol.

07 Dec 2017 09:03:42
I noticed that as well seen that look a lot last year, maybe he doesn't want too give us false hope.

07 Dec 2017 10:01:10
His heart is no longer at the club but I'd say the same thing if he'd been giddy after the goals. Think he shouldn't have had the armband- would like it to go to firmino but that's just me. As it is, smile or no smile- he got us the goals to set us on the way so we'll done to the lad. Delighted with the performance and looking forward to the next ynwa.

07 Dec 2017 10:18:45
As long as he performs and remains professional then we shouldn’t really care how he feels. He’s leaving soon either in jan or the summer so until then, he better just keep his head down and do his job, he’s already burned enough bridges trying to force this move.

07 Dec 2017 11:22:59
Maybe.

Nana nana nana, we've got the best attack in the world, we've got Bobby Firmino, Phil Coutinho, Salah and Sadiooooooo.

07 Dec 2017 07:57:57
Leave it to Roy Keane to turn the entire media's approach on us winning 7-0 against the current Russian Champions into something negative 😑

Spartak are just a poor side apparently. Oh but when City put 5 past Watford, they're the best team in Europe 🙄

I said last night people still weren't taking us seriously and this just proves my point really. Never mind though, it'll just be a nasty shock when we go to the Emirates in a couple of weeks and turn Arsenals unbeaten home run into a fine paste 😂.

07 Dec 2017 08:05:09
MK, don't worry. I stopped listening to pundits who have a hard-on for certain teams they comment on cos their deep hatred for such teams will ALWAYS show.

07 Dec 2017 08:49:41
MK, I believe every pundit including Keane sees our attack as breathtaking but to be really considered a great side we need more than just that awesome attack.
I think it’s more to do with the calamitous keeper we have in Mignolet and a defense very close to lower table standard in the league. I think you said yesterday that Swansea or someone very close to bottom have conceded less than us. It’s up to Klopp again to finally fix that defense, if he does then I believe we will be a great team and will challenge for the title and CL.

07 Dec 2017 09:06:02
Not that bothered about Keane comments. Hopefully, it will allow us to just quietly go about our business for a few more weeks.

07 Dec 2017 08:56:34
MK Arsenal don't have a home u beaten run!

07 Dec 2017 09:54:26
You are correct mate. I forgot that Manchester United fluked a victory there thanks to De Gea, but i want us to turn their apparent strong form at home into dust Laddie Bunton!

07 Dec 2017 10:02:59
Keane was an absolute magnificent player and one of the best captains ever- he grew up to be a dreadful manager and woeful pundit. Pay little heed to him.

07 Dec 2017 10:15:08
Put him in the same category as Garth Crooks another one who has a high opinion of himself.

07 Dec 2017 10:25:46
Let people moan, we can go under the radar for me, people have this idea we can't win anything as we're not good enough at the back,
Im saying no matter how good you are at the back we'll get at you with goals, and we're not half as bad at the back as people make out anyway and we seem to be learning from our mistakes all the time, everyone sees 7-0 and assumes the other team are rubbish and don't stop to consider how good we are,
There is zero need for any moaning lately if you ask me and if we do bring in a cb and at some point a top keeper then it can only strengthen what we already have.
In my eyes we seem to be getting a touch more tactically astute against different teams too, a good squad gives you that.
YNWA.

07 Dec 2017 06:09:22
Ed1, fairly sure it's too little too late but it would appear that Emre has overtaken Hendo in the pecking order. Has Klopp gone off Henderson?

Believable0 Unbelievable2

{Ed001's Note - how on earth do you figure that out?}

07 Dec 2017 07:48:11
By the time we loose him to Juventus, He would become a proper CM. Great bit of business for Juventus.

07 Dec 2017 08:00:13
Henderson is captain and will start the derby in a few days time. He was rested due to his plantar fasciitis. His detractors are pathetic, trying to turn a great win into a stick to beat Hendo with, rather than just enjoy the result.

07 Dec 2017 08:02:33
I don't know really. Lots of people seem to think we'll sell Henderson in the summer. And to me (I might be wrong) it seems Klopp would rather play Can in Europe, which I would suggest is the bigger competition.

07 Dec 2017 08:09:52
Spot on, MK. Hendo was given the night off. Clearly, that is if you are anti-Hendo. The Hendo detractors need to take a day off cos they are starting to sound like the triggered, who have NOTHING good to say about him. Oh btw, we won 5-1 at Brighton and Hendo played well and barked orders to the players to get in position a lot. I guess he's still a useless capt. Change the record or CD cos it is deeply scratched or severely broken.

07 Dec 2017 09:08:08
Well said RE Hendo. We have a big game on the weekend as well and hendo is the player who has been rotated least so far in the midweek/ attacking roles. We've just had 7 games in one month and are about to have 8 games over the next month. No matter who our opposition are, people will be rested every game. It means nothing except that our players are not able to all play 15 games in 2 months without a break. If you read into every single starting line-up, you'll be very confused or dissapointed.

07 Dec 2017 02:13:08
You know it’s a brilliant game when you can’t even pick a favourite from the goals scored! Probably the 2nd goal edges it although mane’s finish from milner’s cross was great as well.

Believable5 Unbelievable0

07 Dec 2017 03:07:04
Totally agree Azk. My pick was the 2nd. Firmino's ball to Coutinho was just so intelligent. I love seeing stuff like that - to pick that pass, in that moment, was clever.

07 Dec 2017 04:20:13
Yup definitely, bobby is just class. Most forwards would just look to bang it in. What’s more impressive is his immediate awareness of where Couts was going to be. I watched the highlights again and it was just a split second for him to spot the run and make the pass.

07 Dec 2017 08:17:31
Spot on, OP. There was every type of goal in that 7 goal haul. Team goal, individual brilliance, fluid movement, the lot.

07 Dec 2017 09:12:51
I just can't resist a good volley, love them.

07 Dec 2017 02:01:42
Tonight was a cracking performance

- Coutinho did well to justify his captaincy, well done lad. Got stuck in, played the passes early, scored a beautifully taken pen and cool second goal
- I really like this side with Can at DM and Gomez at RB, we look like we have real solidity and protection for a change. Surely we should be done everything we can to get him to stay and play Hendo in box to box role? Know he's leaving but seems we've missed a trick
- Our attack was just sublime, some of the one touch passes and movement was just breathtaking. Mane, Firmino and Salah look like they were born to play and Firmino ties the whole piece together.
- We will surely face tougher challenges but Spartak clearly tried to put pressure high up the pitch and we showed the competition it's a dangerous game as we score so readily on the break. Sides will be wondering whether to sit deep or not - not an easy call with Coutinhos ability to shoot from distance too.
- I just somehow feel so much more confident with Karius in goal
- felt sorry for Moreno, get better soon
- please can we put Solanke on the pitch next time? The lad needs game time and really want to see him get 30mins+ with the first team on the pitch at some point.

Well played reds, now for the derby!

Believable4 Unbelievable0

{Ed0333's Note - I agree and echo your sentiments Grob. Can’s natural tendency is too go forward you can tell he hates staying back but as you say he’s effective so more of the same Mr Can please.

07 Dec 2017 03:23:37
i know, I would like him to stay. don't forget he played against spurs and city and in other poor performances. I don't think he was given such a defensive role in those games. he plays it well but he likes getting forward to, perhaps its better we find a proper dm who wants to do the job.

07 Dec 2017 07:32:31
I really like him in the deeper role because he’s not as nimble as Gini/ Lallana so he’s better with the ball in front of him rather than being turned. yet when in possession he can drive forward into gaps. He’s not a pure DM but his physicality at the base of midfield is certainly a bonus.

07 Dec 2017 07:38:23
I would love him too stay also but if he leaves pull out all the stops for rabiot would b ideal or we have too b shrewd in transfer market.

07 Dec 2017 08:20:54
Brob re Karius, I totally agree with you. There is a reason why whenever he plays, he never seems to have anything great to do and what ever he does, he does well. Could it be cos the defenders know what he will do and is more authoritative and commanding of his area? Could it be that he calms the defence down a lot with his overall play and the defenders are not afraid to pass him the ball? It certainly cannot be just a coincidence. In addidtion, your post was brilliant.

07 Dec 2017 08:49:39
Being able to bring the ball out of defence and break the opponents line is a great attribute for DM. I seldom see Henderson do that except maybe play ping pong with the CB and GK.

07 Dec 2017 01:53:02
Philippe Coutinho. I am a fan ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️.

Believable2 Unbelievable1

{Ed0333's Note - The security as we speak has just been upgraded in the Coutinho residence.

07 Dec 2017 08:19:39
His total disrespect to us the fans, his team mates, the staff and the people who pay his wages obviously means nothing to you Harry. You held Suarez in the same regard if memory serves me right even with the way he acted while here. You seem to be a far bigger fan of the players (well some) then the club, players don't make the club we make the players!
This club used to stand for something which is lost on the modern fan.

I'm not to pleased with klopp for giving him the armband either, for me the sooner we get coutinho off the where ever the better.

07 Dec 2017 01:37:20
Well done boys but you are getting ahead of yourselves as uasual.
Remember the last champions league game 3 up at half time.

Believable0 Unbelievable11

{Ed0333's Note - Technically the last Champions League game was against Spartak Moscow

07 Dec 2017 06:31:59
Don’t think we are Leahy mate we all know that our defence generally isn’t good enough but if you can’t enjoy and bask in a 7-0 win you might as well give it up.

07 Dec 2017 00:36:12
I was supposed to be there but had to cancel because my wife is ill.
What a performance.
Yes Spartak we're awful but every time this season we've trounced a team I've thought "we won won but they were awful". It can't be a coincidence. We destroy Southampton, then they destroy Everton next game. We are making teams look awful.
Who knows where we'd be in the league if Mane hadn't been sent off against City.
Imagine if we had Hyppia! We'd be walking everything.
Great performance and roll on Sunday!

Believable5 Unbelievable0

{Ed0333's Note - Hope your wife feels better mate

07 Dec 2017 01:17:26
Liverpool made them look awful. We don't just pounce on mistakes, we force them from our opposition. Spartak are not a poor team, they have some real talent there but our fab four are too good, better to watch than city a lot of the time. I was impressed with klavan again and really impressed with alberto. He cried at being substituted and that has endeared him to myself, good lad, love his desire and commitment. I swear I thought I saw Emre Can thinking, after the 7th, I could be making a huge mistake walking away from this group.

I thought Gini was fantastic, without Hendo, he stitched the play up nicely with Emre but he has that ability to keep the ball under pressure and find the right pass too. Great player. I'd like to see gomes in that cb role more often, why not? .

People can't keep saying that we only won 7 0 because the opposition were kak, it's the second team we have done it to in the UCL, the elite tournament in the world really. We are doing everyone with big scores, we have to because these days at 3 0 it feels like 1 0 and we could cave at any moment. Defence were class tonight though, Klavan does seem to be growing as a player, finding a bit of confidence and form at the right time, well played.

one very happy red.

07 Dec 2017 08:31:39
Superred, I like your assessment esp. of the defence cos Klavan like it or not, is getting it done at CB. He is not a world beater and none asks him to be. He is physical, committed and strong in the challenge. The whole back 5 were solid last night and that can only bode well for their confidence.

Also, we simply can't win with some people. We tonk a team in a high pressure game 7-0, they say we only beat them cos they are poor which is patently false cos Spartak are Russian champs. and stomped on Sevilla 5-1. We don't beat them and they say we are crap. Can't lie with 'em, can't live w/ o 'em. On to Everton.

07 Dec 2017 00:21:58
Just looking for records this team could beat, no chance, 106 league goals in a 30 match season, forget that.
But the record that amazed me was Phil Neal 417 consecutive games, like 7 yrs never missed one game, and let's not forget the state of the pitches / tackles he was up against, unbelievable.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

{Ed0333's Note - I agree mate supreme feat that one.
