Poll Question

Who would you have out of these 3?

Mario Gotze
Christian Eriksen
Eden Hazard

Hazard, hazard, hazard

I've had them all.. Wotta night that was..!

Myk

Are you Terry in disguise?

Hazard or gotze

In terms of who we need right now, Hazard.

Or I'd rather have Gotze, kid is a genius.

RenegadeRed

Gotze and Hazard..:) {Ed002's Note - I am afraid neither will be happening.}

I've been to every game so far this season except Arsenal and in my opinion, without a shadow of a doubt Enrique has to be the buy of the season.

The lad has the lot for the left back role. He's been man of the match in the majority of games.

What did become apparent to me on saturday during the derby is the difference in Adam when he's allowed time on the ball. He wasn't in the game for 20 mins, Rodwell gets sent off, he's allowed more space and he starts finding the pass. Adam needs to develop the skill of finding his own space and become a little stronger on the ball to make up for his lack of speed. I think he would benefit from taking a look at some Jan Molby footage from the archives.

Ozone

So Ozone u post something other than man utd's financial info which too is total crap, which is a suprise but still i must say u have improved a bit with knowledge u have recieved from man utd fans.

I think it is perfectly possible that our team could be fantastic in a few years. Imagine this.

Suarez Leandro
Sterling Sissoko Lucas Moura

Thats not our team...

YNWA! (Adam)

There's no GK or defence either...

Cuchulainn's Hounds

More like this:

Reina

Flanno - Kelly - Wilson - Robinson

Shelvey - Coady

Silva - Henderson - Sterling

Suarez/Morgan - Carroll/Suso

So ed u chose not to post my qatar info that included new stadium info... Pop onto mirror website n check stadium info {Ed001's Note - let me guess, you posted a link that included http:// in front of it? That gets swallowed by our spam filters, just remove the http:// and repost mate.}

06 Oct 2011 21:34:54
Hi eds, according to the mirror the owners have narrowed the search for naming rights on the new stadium to 3 big named businesses, with 1 being standed charter. Does this mean a new ground is looking more likly then remainin at anfield? Thanx

C m sucks {Ed002's Note - It will no doubt be dependent on the money involved.}

Didn't Huyton Red say there was 3 interested buisness's. And we hadn't chosen 1 yet? Huyton Red could be Brian Reade, he writes for the Mirror. lol

The need for a defencive midfielder is not an issue, but getting it into peoples head's that Lucas is knowhere near good enough for L.F.C. IS. We will win nothing while he is in our midfield.

I think actually its charlie adam in the center thats the weakest link for me, cant keep up with the pace.redturk

Not defending Adam to make my original point but it's a big jump and a lot of pressure to go from Blackpool to us, I will give him a chance to settle in before I pass judgement

I think Adam would play at his best in a 4-2-3-1 formation. Just like Xabi and Mascherano (spit) did for us. Lucas could do all the dirty work (just like Mascherano) and Adam could spray the passes around (just like Xabi, only not as good).

At least now we have this option to use, especially in away games.

Blair Mayne YNWA

Blair do you really think Adam will make the grade for you boys?? Serious question, no wind up - Personally I don't think he has the class for Liverpool.... HERBIE(MUFC)

I'm not sure yet HERBIE mate. That's why i would like to see him in a 4-2-3-1 formation or 4-3-3. Teams have sussed him out in recent weeks and had their midfielders put pressure on him. If we played the formations i have named, it could free up the space he needs, for passes.

You have to admit mate, he was worth a punt at 6,7 mill.

Blair Mayne YNWA

For the money he is worth it without a doubt but if I'm honest I look at Adams the same way I look at Carrick for UTD, surplass to requirements.... Adams may end up surprising us all but I think he needs to work on his speed, creating space for himself, maybe its nerves and he needs to settle.... HERBIE

Hey blair, agree with u dat adam does deliver killer passes, but wudnt it be better to have someone like sissoko who is a better allround midfielder? Adam's sloppiness cud prove really costly against the big teams.
Indian Buzzer

Adam is class and will only get better as he settles.

First post is spot on lucas is nowhere near good enuf he has had long enuf even tho kenny keeps picking him i can see him being found out against a top side he is a good tackler but can't finnish or pass farther than 20ft how many times does he run into a position on the field where he can't find a teammate (sideways player)
dannybhoy

Dannybhoy you couldnt be more wrong lucas is the most improved player the last two seasons and deserves his place in our starting 11 and so far this season his passing has seemed much impoved in the bolton and wolves games especially he alwas gives a 100% and tackles brilliantly.

Hi Eds, do you see Hendo playing in a more central role rather than RM or is it going to be Gerrard (when fit) and Lucas in the middle. Thanks

Ghandi Floss {Ed001's Note - it will depend on who we face, it is not a team but a squad and the team will vary from those in the squad. I do expect to see Gerrard take his place when fit enough right now though. But the team will change as the season progresses.}

Thanks for the reply mate. Its just a tiny bit frustrating because i know hendo is a great player and i defo think he excels in the central role. But like you say it is a squad and team will vary.

Just come on the site and I understand that Torres, Mascherano, Meieriles, Aquilani etc. wanted to leave Lpool (why?). The thing is we have replaced them with Carroll, Henderson, Adam, etc. and these players are just not good enough in my opinion. Agree? {Ed009's Note - Suarez is as good as Torres. Carroll is more of a striker option than we ever had before. Downing is more needed than Meireles. Admittedly we have a weaker central midfield than we did when Rafa nearly took us to the title but that was a world trio.}

------Mascherano
Kuyt-Alonso-Gerrard-Riera
---------Torres
or
Hendo-Lucas-Gerrard-Downing
------Suarez-Carroll

My opinion is threr quite equal but Rafa's yeam wins it due to Alonson however when it comes to depth the current team wins -McMenemy

Rafa also had Champions League football so more player's wanted to play for Liverpool. Kenny is rebuilding the damages of Rafa and Roy - Kenny knows how to squad build; the others didn't.

Ed, Have to ask you again plz be more clear this time!

*Why do you think we are not targeting defensive midfielders when we have only Lucas who is good enough to play as a DM?

*Don't you think we lack DM's more than those creative 'in the hole players'?

Stevei G & Henderson can certainly play there isn't it, where as we have never good enough Spearing as our only cover for DM.

Cheers!
Chopman {Ed009's Note - Whilst Lucas is our only top quality DM at this moment in time, I would make these two points to you: 1) Kenny will certainly give Spearing one more season to prove himself, and a new defensive midfielder would inevitably step on his toes. 2) Adam could well take up a position as a deep lying playmaker in the Alonso mould with Gerrard sitting next to him against the smaller teams to keep us on the front foot. I think the situation will not be re-evaluated before next summer.}

I am heading over to the Man Utd game next week from Ireland and I'm taking my daughtear for her birthday! I really can't wait! I think we will get the result we need providing the Ref doesn't spoil it! the refs this year in the premiership have been very poor this season! ( unless your a Man Utd fan ) We must start with a high tempo and never give em a minutes rest or a chance to control the game...........henderson can't start as hes not ready but Carrol should and bellamy should play a big part! stevie g should be fit and I reckon 3-1 again. Cant wait to soak up the atmosphere Y.N.W.A

Hope you and your daughter have a good day mate, and the boys on the pitch ensure she leaves with a great birthday present - a dominant win of the Mancs.

Good Evening reds & eds,

Seeing this post which says we haven't replaced players like Xabi, Mascherano, Torres & our squad is not strong enough. Have to say sorry to the poster, first of all when Xabi, Masche, & Fernando came to the club were they the world class players of 30million,50 Million pound caliber. Of course not, they developed their carrier & rise to those levels by playing @ Anfiled. So why can't the players we currently brought in now develop into world class players am sure they will as time goes on.

Have to admit that our squad is not stronger than the squad of 2008-2009 season when we were flying high but the seasons after that, our squad has become weaker than ever & the main focus of Kenny in buying players was to improve the overall quality of the squad who can be atleast be good enough to get into UCL. I do believe that our squad is strong enough to finish in the top four.

On this match against the Scums,
A fit Stevie G starting the match will be key for us, our midfield is too light weight & will be easily be over run by Anderson & Cleverly. A midfield with Lucas & Adam will be no match for them as we saw against Spurs. Bellamy also got to start, him and Downing on the wings (also to handle their wingers: Nani & Young) with Luis & Andy upfront. Midfield pairing of Stevie G & Lucas, back four the same as Everton provided that Agger is not fit. 4-4-2 the formation.

hey ed001, i remeber talking to you a while back about robbie fowler in his youth and you having the pleasure of seeing him. i was just wondering if you see small signs of robbie in adam morgan? both predominantly left footed but equally adept with the right, but its the striking technique combined with the game intelligence that has striking similarities in my opinion, that knack for goalscoring cant be coached, and the way morgan strikes the ball, hitting the corners of the net every time he scores is so reminiscent of fowler in his pomp. people have been calling out for a clinical striker but i feel given a couple of years Morgan could fill this gap admirably. i know you cant judge at such an early point in his development but if he continues on this upwards trajectory do you feel we could have another Fowler on our hands? |I would love to hear your opinion

p.s ive been watching suso in the next gen recently and his choice and speed of thought in his pass has improved considerably, i feel that our youth is literally bursting at the seams ready to go in a year or so, would you agree?

Red Maverick {Ed001's Note - I don't think Morgan is anything like Fowler, he is not at that level at all. He lacks the ability to beat his man, the range of passing and the free kicks around the edge of the box that God had. But he is an excellent young player, who is good enough to make it as a very good Liverpool forward for the future. I agree our youth is looking strong, the strongest overall I can remember. But it will only matter if they can come through and break into the first team.}

I do agree that fowler was and is a cut above, but its more his striking technique and goal scoring knack where my similarities stem from, not his overall play, you rarely find a players with the exact or extremly similar qualiites. maybe not the fowler of old but the fowler after the achilles injury, its the clinical finishing thati believe is similar to fowler. maybe im being nostalgic, i would give my left testicle for another fowler to come through, i will never ever forgive houiller for what he done to that man, anyway cheers ed, i value your opinion highly, i was watching jason lundy? i think it was the other day, he seems to have something about him in the middle, any thoughts?

We will not see another Fowler. He is a one-off genius. My favourite player, was privileged to see his hat trick at Villa Park. The fact he is still playing shows his love of the game. YNWA

I know mate but we can dream cant we? I loved the player, the most natural striker england has produced for a long time, never given the recongnition he deserved, i wish i had the pleasure of watching him in the flesh, 20 times the player owen ever was

Torres was a top striker who hit the ground running and scored lots of goals but Suarez as probably hit the ground even quicker and creates a lot more goals. Carroll is a different striker who is just starting to settle in but a real top striker.

Alonso was quality but it took him about 2 seasons to settle in. We have Adam now who is probably just as creative Alonso. And i think better at set pieces and i think as settled in quicker. Alonso was never the quickest either but a world class passer but Mascherano did a lot of his running and one of the best defensive midfield players in the world.

Henderson as got more goals in him than masch and just as good engine and as not played in his natural position but i am sure is top quality and will come good. And will only get better learning off the captain. So we should all be happy with our quality of squad.

Mighty reds

Are you seriously comparing Adam and Henderson to Alonso and Mascherano??

You're having a laugh. Did you see alonso play? He started off great, he had one bad season (the season before rafa tried to sell him) the next year was probably his best. Adam doesn't get near alonso, he doesn't move the ball quick enough plus he's probably got more quality players to hit than alonso did--finisher

I must correct all of the above alonso did have a good first season, ok second season frank lampard broke his ankle for me he then had two poor seasons then he had his best season which was his last but what a range of passing it was superb

interesting post about the 3 lads we had Torres Masch an Xabi.

Fact is the lads we have are Carroll Adam an Henderson.

Just like an ex girlfriend you've got to move on!

You never know these lads could surpass expectation with our support.

Spriggo

Carroll in a few years = As good as Shearer

Adam is a just a little bit less than Xabi.

Henderson in a few years = Gerrard replacement

RenegadeRed

Henderson will never replace gerrard. Its completely obvious he is not fit to lace his boots and never will be. FACT

He's had three games not exactly enough time to settle in. besides he has yet to play in his atual posistion -McMenemy

People seem to have conveniently missed out a step with regards to the players we had and the players we had and also the reason for certain players moving on.

Torres wanted to leave - FACT
Aquilani wanted to leave - FACT
Meireles wanted the pay increase agreed to him by the previous owners or he would go. We didn't want to pay, so he wanted to leave - FACT
Mascherano basically went on strike by refusing to play against Man City, as he wanted to move to Barcelona - FACT
The team under Hodgson has been improved considerably.

Torres - Suarez = an improvement over Torres of the previous 18 months.
Babel - Carroll = an improvement
Jovanovich - Downing = an improvement
Poulssen - Adam = an improvement
Konchesky - Enrique = an improvement
Henderson in = an improvement as it gives more squad depth/options and he is still so young. Don't forget slur Alex wanted him (google Steve Bruce talking about Ferguson wanting Henderson for the proof of how far back his interest started).

Each player we have brought in has been improvement on the player departing and therefore improves the team/squad.

All this press nonsense about us spending over £100m on the squad doesn't reflect the full story when we have in fact recouped about £70m in players sales and over the next year will save about £20m-£25m in wages on players shipped out.

I know football finance isn't as straight forward as that, but it gives you an idea of the balance sheet over this period.

Players Bought = approx £100m
Player Sales = approx £70m
Wages saved on the supposed deadwood alone = approx £25m

Another thing the press seem to forget is the initial fee paid is a lot different to the fee paid plaus all of the add-on's being triggered.
For example, they quote henderon as costing £20m, but is was actually something like £16.85m up-front. It will only reach £20m if we win the league, qualify for champions league etc.

I'm sure £20m will be a snip if we manage to activate all of the add-on's (if you think of what that will mean in terms of the success we will have had to get them activated.

Enrique is looking like an absolute bargain at £6m, but they don't really comment on him as it isn't sensationalistic headlines.
The same goes for Adam and his initial fee and the possible end fee based on add-on's.

Even if we do end up having to pay the total (£8.5m) it's considerably less than the £10m slur Alex said his set-pieces alone were worth. Also, don't forget Spurs wanted him and there was talk of interest from Man U as well.

I've got a lot of time for Henderson and i don't see why he has the be the 'next Gerrard' just let the lad play his own game.
That's the problem with some fans they feel the need to compare players, take the young lad Morgan for example he just can't stop scoring for the Reserves so it wont be long before people start comparing him to Fowler and heaping the pressure on.

always a red

That's a bit harsh. Let's be honest NO-ONE is fit to lace stevie's boots. Duckula

Shelvey or suso will replace gerrard, not hendo.

Re. Torres, Mascherano, Alonso, Miereles and Aqualani. As the first poster said they all wanted to leave. Would you want someone at your work constantly going on about not wanting to be there, they'd do your head in and wouldn't perform well enough.

Unfortunately except Alonso who was treated badly by Rafa, but he didn't kick up a stink, we got good money for him and still speaks highly of LFC, a true gent. He is still playing brilliantly now but he was here 5 years maybe he also felt it time to go home, you can;t begrudge someone that if they go about it the right way.

Mascherano, spoilt brat like his mate Tevez, was doing nothing at West Ham and we made him a superstar and he goes on strike to force a move, still we got our money back. Although I understand a bit if his family are unsettled here, Liverpool is a far cry form Barcelona where they speak the language and may be more comfortable, so he's under the thumb with his wife. Gotta feel sorry for him there.

Aqualani couldn't hack the league, not many Italians can, shame about the monetary loss, good player but not cut out for it, mistake on rafa's part. His wife's career was in Italy too, probably a bad move to come here, maybe his club forced his hand by the massive sum of money we threw at them for an injured player.

Torres and Miereles left for more money. Realistically who else would have had Torres, Barcelona not interested, would have had trouble going to Madrid due to Athletico ties and doubt they needed him either, left Italy open but they teams not been too sucessful in Europe lately and probably not offering the massive wages he wanted. We got great money and his best years.
Miereles wanted more money, but this thing about promises made doesn't stand up, he made that with Hodgson and H&G, once club sold why should new owners honour a verbal agreement made by previous owners, more fool him for not getting the promise put into a contract. He hasn't got many years left him in and got our money back.

We can't expect most players to stick with a club for 10 years anymore, we need to get them when they are young and hungry for the game, if they stick with us great, if they want to move on then let them do it when we have had their best years, get a good sum for them and let someone else put up with their strops and petulance.

The money being paid out in fees and wages by likes of Man City won't be sustainable, something will be done about
it eventually, we can't afford to have players dictating things like Tevez, even the court case of woman not paying for Sky in her pub could have ramifications for money in the league further down the line.

GMN, in one of your earlier replys when someone was on about a player or 2 we may sign in Jan. Your reply was. What lost faith in the squad already. Just being a smartasse. I aint lost faith, i've gained even more but their's always area's a team can strengthen. Everton have got more chance of signing players then Brum in Jan and thats saying a lot. Jonson6

I remember the team that was put up and only 2 liverpool summer signings were in the team enrique and downing. liverpool signed 7-8 players in the summer and after only 2 months whoever posted has lost faith in 6 of them. daglish spent alot of money and if you are thinking of buying players to replace them in the starting team then it it seems as though they have lost faith in the signings. finally blues signed i think 12 players in the summer. admittedly most of them were free or loans but thats alot more than everton did. worse case scenario for blues is we enter administration take a 10 point loss but as i said before the clubs finances are not out of control and im sure they would be someone who would be willing to take control of the club. at least i can look at my club and be realistic. our target is a respectable place in the league and then look at things next summer when carson yeungs court case will be over. many liverpool fans are looking at winning the prem and the champs league in the next couple of years but its not going to happen.

Carroll, Henderson and Adam definately DO want to play for Lpool, the thing is they are just not good enough.

Actually Carroll didn't even want to leave Newcastle for Liverpool.

I agree with the bloke who has been labelled "nameless poster". Carroll, Henderson and Adam COULD NOT lace the boots of Torres, Alonso and Mascherano - FACT!!

Why can't some people just let go ?
Torres did the dirty on us, Masch went on virtual strike, Alonso wanted to go back to Spain.
They did not, repeat not, want to play for Liverpool.
Carroll, Adam and Henderson most definitely do. No contest.

GNM how did Carra run away when he was 28, but Scholes was entering his 30's, does that mean he was 29 or was he 30, was a in the team, anyhow about an 18 month difference age when they did retire , if any two players ran away from England, it was Scholes and Shearer who was 29 and England captain at the time . Whats the point of being picked for every squad knowing no matter what form your in, how crap the other first choice centre halves are playing, that you know you aint gonna play. Must get a bit tedious just being their to make up the numbers time in training time after time so he did what he thought was right, and good for him. And talk about faith in squads. Its just that we can add a player or 2 in Jan unlike Brum whose owner's character is questionable to say the least, prob be spending his coin on legal bills. Do you really think he's that assed whats going on at your sinking ship with his troubles. Just wonder what direction Brum are taking because from from i can tell, you really are up s**t creek without a paddle my friend. Jonson6

To talk about the original conversation carragher was involved in the first team and not always starting but he played most games for england and played an important role when he was pushed into dm and then walked away while scholes was not playing as sven thought the gerrard/lampard were a better partnership. the only person to think so.

blues are in trouble but its not their fault. when liverpool had their texan owners they gave out massive wages and had a large squad so the running of the club was wrong yet i dont remember coming out and ripping into liverpool. birminghams financial troubles are not because of the way the club was run. we have never given out big wages (zigic=45k and is almost twice as much the next highest) and we have never paid big fees (6-7mil for mcfadden zigic heskey not totally sure of the final total as some of it was due to add ons). our financial troubles are due to the FA not finding the problems when they are meant to check out the potential buyers. we are in trouble but 15 or so years we were in the 4th division and liquidation was days away before we found new owners so we have been through worse.

GMN

GMN - you are very wrong mate, I suggest you read Carragher's autobiography if you want the truth, it is a very good read for any football fan. Carragher always accepted that he was third choice CB behind Terry and Ferdinand. He knew that they would be first choice and one of them needed to be injured or suspended before he would get a game. But what finished it for him was during a World cup or European game (I cannot remember which) terry was suspended and the manager called up Ledley King to replace him. As Carragher said, he was travelling all the way round the world just to sit on the bench for England and being away from his family and when the chance came for him to play - the manager chose someone who had hardly played a game for his club all season. Commitment is a two way thing.

JRG

How the hell can you question Jamie's mentality GMN, he has played in all positions across the backline when supposedly better players were brought in to fill his position, Christian Ziege anyone? then Steve Finnan etc etc, all Jamie did was knuckle down & nail another position when many thought the writing was on the wall, dont get me wrong i think it is time to phase him out slowly particularly in games we r expected to dominate, but you still cannot leave him out of the big games, UTD, Chelsea etc as these are the games u need his "mentality".

Steve.

Get your facts right: if Newcastle beat Spurs and if we beat Man U we will not be 4th. Newcastle are 4th and will remain 4th!

Unless,
(1) Chelsea-Everton ends 0-3 (come on you toffee blues)
(2) Newcastle beat spurs
(3) Liverpool beat ManU 4-0 (Easy done)
(4) Man City Win
then the premier table will be:

(1) Mancity
(2) Man United
(3) Newcastle
(4) Liverpool
(5) Chelsea

I wonder what odds I'd get on that?
I wonder if Rooney's dad is interested in a little flutter?

Who cares where we we are in the table at this moment in time? The only thing that matters is if we are in the Top 4 after 38 games. Before that it is irrelevant. Focus on Liverpool winning, not other teams doing us favours.

Torres, Alonso and Mascherano did not want to be at the club, end of story. But player for player I agree the three bought could not not lace their boots! KK did not spend wisely. Adam is far too slow, Henderson is ..... well I do not know what he is and in 3 or 4 years time we will still be saying that we need to give Carroll more time (in fact I've heard he cannot settle in Lpool).

Hey nameless poster, i agree that hendo, adam n carrol r ordinary players but it doesnt mean u call them unfit to lace other players boots.
Ps: KK didnt spend the money wisely.
Indian Buzzer

Couldn't agree more.

Ash

We could offer champions league football to all those players previously, most players won't consider moving without that - and without a massive wage of £100k plus a week

Who would you have bought, for the same money, wage structure permitting & no CL? Your post will only count for something if you can anwer that.

I think you have anger issues henderson is 20 carroll is 21 for all you or i know they could turn out to be the greatest players to ever wear a liverpool shirt and then again they may not but at least give them some time carroll has hardly ever been fit for us hendo has played 6 game s you could try give them your support and see what they become then iin a year if you right then fair enough but waht is the point coming on here and slating them after hardly any time at our club i agree no champions league harder to attract top quality players but you dont know how they,l turn out i for one are hoping they prove you and many other doubters wrong and go on to have fantastic careers at l/pool and if not so be it then criticise but not so early in
giblet

I read this site pretty much every day and its really starting to get old when so called "supporters" keep knocking on our players. Whether you believe the money was well spent or not, who are you 2 question KK bc Im pretty sure he knows a bit more when it comes to management. The players we have are exactly that, our players, so stop complaining and give the team time to gel. Just look at the difference between this season and the beginning of last. Rome wasn't built in a day and if you have such a problem with the direction the club is headed then go "support" another club and let the real fans stand behind their team

Soldado and Mata to start with.

Ash

We cud have got sissoko n mata tbh. 35 million combined, gr8 players in their own right. We wud have been title challengers if we had got those two. N im pretty sure many wud agree with me on this one.

Sky sources understand Wayne Rooney's father has been arrested as part of an investigation into suspicious betting activity.
The investigation relates to a match between Motherwell and Hearts on December 14 2010."

It is also understood that Manchester United star Rooney's uncle Richie, 54, was also detained. All the suspects are being held for questioning at police stations across Merseyside.

WOW IS ROONEY IN GOOD MENTAL CONDITION TO RONNEY NOT PLAY AGENEST LIVERPOOL?

Hi everyone! Been away for a while and just catching up on recent posts. One really stood out stating that our squad is stronger than it has been for a long time - youre telling me that Carroll, Henderson and Adam have made this squad stronger than Torres, Alonso and Mascherano? Do me a favour!

No but
Carroll, Suarez, Hendo, Adam, Downing, Bellamy, Enrique and Coates is much stronger than Torres, Masch, Alonso, Ngog, The Greek, El Zhar, Cole and Insua. Favour done. Now you owe me,
RustyNigels :)

He said squad not starting 11.
Yes we cannot replace these player's without champions league football but right let's think of it..
Our ball winning holding midfielder right now is Lucas who is better to the team than Mascherano.

Torres and Suarez right now is a tie - I can't split them.

Gerrard has replaced Alonso as the playmaker in out team because he will be in the two man midfield with Lucas and again it's a tie because both player's are just class acts.

It's easy to compare young player's with the ones who are established internationals. Like Downing to Gonzalez get me?

Corkpoolred

P.S I believe also I'm replying to a non LFC fan so this is to those 'real' LFC fans.

Surely it should be Torres, Aqua & Masch? Aqua replaced Alonso didn't he? So we have 2 players who didn't want to be there. One of which has scored a handful of goals since he left, a player who refused to
play & one that was mainly injured. So yes, you would have to say Hendo, Adam & Carroll make us a better team. Thanks

The Irish Rover

Torres was a great player in his day and yes he has scored a few goals this year but if you are wide open I'd hope you could make them but at the same time he also missed a wide open goal at man u. Suarez on the other hand doesn't just play for himself but for the team. He scores great goals but also sets up just as many.I wouldn't say it is a tie because Torres has not been able to recapture his old form. Yes I've seen him cut through defenses, score amazing goals, and completely out play players and I am quite glad he did that for us. But I have also seen Suarez go through four man u players and put the ball through Van Der Sar's legs for an open goal for Kuyt. I would pick Suarez of Torres these days any day. As for the other players I feel Lucas is better than Masch these days for many reasons. One he is glad to wear the Liverpool Jersey and doesn't get yellow and red cards extremely often. I also feel that Alonso is one of the best passers in the world and would love to still have him but now with the additions of Adam, who does need to improve his fitness, and Henderson that we will be just fine. We also still have Gerrard and no matter what people say he is not done because his groin and will be wearing the Liverpool jersey for a while.

With every passing minute I thank King Kenny for signing Jose Enrique. A snip at 6 mill.
He looks the real deal doesn't he ?
I was thinking you know, Liverpool have not been overly-blessed with left backs down the years :
Gerry Byrne, Shankly's favourite Scouse player,
Alan Kennedy, under-rated but came up trumps in finals,
A lot of our great teams had fill-in left backs - Tommy Smith, Emlyn Hughes played there amongst others.
And to think I was not that keen on Enrique. I'm just off for 5 x mins of self-flagellation, as a punishment for doubting.

I agree mate i wasn,t really sure about enrique i was hoping for cissokho but enrique has well proved me wrong he could turn out to be our signing of the year he always looks solid and good going forward i even asked some of my geordie mates about him they said he was class wasn,t sure but its nice to be proved wrong

I think all liverpool players shud keep their heads low n prepare for the manc game rather than runnin their mouths. If they beat us in our backyard, it will be really embarassing.

Are our south American players involved in any internationals this weekend- it would be nice for the likes of Suarez to have a short break and some recovery time

Unfortunately not. Is it Bolivia and Peru or something, that Uruguay play ?
Is Coates getting a game/s ?
Let's all email the Bolivian and Peruvian Embassies and plead that none of their players kicks Luis. Please lord.

Ed's, What do you make of Suarez's comments? I can't decide what to think as it is such negativity at the early points of the season. I agree with what he has said, I just don't see why he has gone to the media with this. {Ed001's Note - I don't make anything of them, he has said nothing of any value, it is just poor journalism twisting his words and trying to apply false meanings.}

Looking at Luis's attitude on the pitch, i'd be very supprised if his comments wern't twisted. All he wants to do is win and gives 100% each time. Now there's these "comments" from him, supposedly accepting the league is "unreachable" it dosn't sound like the same Suarez, i've seen so far and admitting defeat, already.

Or maybe he was just telling the truth amd the league is a long shot. But i wouldn't say it's "unreachable" especially if we beat United.

Red Devil, the difference is with the England team re of were they're born is that i'd say they all hold a British passport. See themselves as English except maybe Morgan, i dont know, he maybe justs wants to play cricket at the highest levet. And every country bar the Aussie's and South Africans have had a foreign coach over recent years. Geoff Lawson, Pakistan, Jamie Siddons and Stuart Law ,Sri Lanka. Duncan Fletcher is India's coach. Also Keppler Wessels played test cricket for Austraila and went on to captain South Africa. With only 8 or 9 test playing nations i think the situation is a bit different, look what happened the last time England appointed an English cricket coach in Peter Moores, a coup more or less that lost him his job. So if Carra thinks that, thats his opinion on the matter good for him. Owen Hargreaves aint exactly a born and bread Brit is he. Its just his views and has f*** all to do with cricket or England cheating at cricket. Jonson6

Just listening to that whining girlie voice and pathetic scouse accent could really only be the 'man' who turned his back on his country because he couldn't bare the thought there were about 4 better centre halfs than him, the lad needs to grow a pair and man up

What a load of drivel !

Did Paul Scholes not turn his back on his country then??

Does he need to grow a pair & "man up" as well or are u going to spout the usual bollox about what Xavi said?

Steve.

Steve

the difference is scholes was entering his 30's and wanted to prolong his career. carragher was 28 and in his prime. didnt want to compete for his place and ran away. when liverpool get a defender or when coates is seen ready to step up he will retire instead of trying to fight. great talent but has always had the wrong mentality. liverpool fans are now wanting my head as they are blind from it but almost everyone else can see it.

GMN

Carragher was 28 and in his prime and STILL not getting a game. If you're at your peak and still deemed not good enough, then why do all that travelling to not play? Scholes was an England regular and turned his back. Also, I seem to remember Scholes and Carragher being asked to return to the England squad for the WC and Scholes said no and Jamie said yes. Now who "turned their back" on the national team?

Ash

Ash

at the end of the season before the world cup carragher was still first choice and playing constantly having played roughly 40 games and being only 31/2 he wasnt old. scholes was 34/5 was playing 1 every 3 games and wouldnt finish most of those games. he needed the summer rest for the next season.

Jamie Carragher says turning to foriegn manager because u r home grown coaches can't do the job for the national team is a kind of cheating, this is what i read on goal.com
I feel carragher should be watching the English cricket team because it just not coach even players in team r foriegn, don't know what carragher will call this because if that is cheating then this is may be......

Next set of fixtures massive for us.

Success will hinge on beating UTD,narrowing their lead to 3pts.
The next day Spurs play Toon, Toon just ahead of us Spurs just behind,so it will be good to see one or both drop points.

The following weekend UTD play CITY and we play Norwich!

If we can do UTD we can be right in the mix by the end of October.

Team still looks shakey tho, not great against wolves and not great against everton. We still dont steam roller teams its never an easy match when we play!

Dont Buy the Sun

Surely we want newcastle to beat tottenham. newcastle will slide down the table they have had relatively easy fixtures so far

I agree, Newcastle to hopefully beat the spuds & if we can beat UTD, touching distance despite us having far & away the hardest away fixtures to date.

my dream team after january would be..

reina

kelly - (hummels) - agger - enrique

(hazard) - gerrard - lucas - downing

carroll - suarez

For me it would be
Affelay of Barca.
Lavezzi of Napoli.
And a centre back.

Using players here already

reina

kelly - Carra - agger - enrique

Johnson- gerrard - lucas - downing

suarez - Bellamy
Jay

No adam no henderson no bellamy no coates. its seems you have lost faith in most of daglishs summer signings already.

GMN

LOL you have absolutely no chance of signing hazard and hummels! they have class, they dont want to play for down beaten teams. :)
GREDDEVIL

By wanting Lavezzi and Affelay to sign in January does not mean I've lost faith in any of the squad.
I just realise we are weaker depth wise than the rest of the big teams, and therefore require some additions and a striker and a right winger are the positions I feel need strengthening.

Kuyt and Carrara are getting on and I think only Carrara wil
Survive the summer and then only in a squad member role.

i know its over a week away but the utd game is the most important game we've had for a long time ....we should throw the kitchen sink at them .....its a must win .....i think then it might just give us the belief that we can win the title ....ynwa

We are to poor when we dont have the ball to threaten the manks at all. Hate to say it but think they will crush us. We were a better team in the second half of last season than we have been at all this season. Hope we make massive improvements over the next few weeks otherwise we wont make 4th

Realistically I think spurs will beat us to 4th, be close but there squad is stronger. Looking at it now meireles was a significant loss, modric wanted to leave spurs the club didnt want to sell so he stayed then scored against us, should have told raul to stay put end of!

Havn't checked the site for a few days so apologies if this topic has been covered.
I'm still bemused as to how the referee seem to pretend that Tony Hibberts shocking tackle on Adam didn't happen.
The tackle just seemed to under the radar on sky and in ther media because of the rodwell saga, and i cant find a replay of it.
Just want to see if anybody else thinks it was one of the worst tackles they have ever seen to actually be spotted by the referee and receive no punishment, not even a foul, I couldn't believe my eyes!
Hope i havn't just got my red tinted glasses on.

It appears to have been swept under the rug. We seem to have let it go because Adam wasn't injured. If he had been injured maybe we would have complained to the FA / PL

Coxy82

However right or wrong it was, think the ref didn't give it, as he knew he'd made a mistake earlier! Goes back to something I keep saying, all we want is consistency in decisions!

i swear the suarez interview was one that was taken just when he came back from the internationals and has now been recycled , bevause i remember him talking about the no7 shirt and kd speaking spanish.

and why is the media trying to hype up the "suarez is a cheat" stories, he went down because the momentum took him down and he held his leg to get a free kick not get the guy sent off.

Don't be so stupid, he went up before he went down! Momentum lol

In other words, the collision caused Suarez pain, gravity took course and so Luis fell down clutching his ankle, yes he was trying to win a free kick. But no way was he attempting to get Rodwell sent off

How do these people get paid to post a joke like this?

Yea , makes you wonder if they really do hate lpool , as kk has the net spend of about 30m putting this squad together since coming back in jan , but of course they dont tell you that.........lfc

Its a complete joke, its like saying Rooney is a better investment than Suarez even though Rooney has been playing for United for 5 years(don't take that as gospel) and Suarez has been at Liverpool for less than a year, just a joke.
