06 Jan 2017 23:40:53
Id really like to see Wilson be given a go.

06 Jan 2017 23:46:17
Ojo please

07 Jan 2017 01:19:35
I'd like to see an xi of Karius, TAA, Gomez, Lucas, Juanma, Stewart, Ejaria, Grujic (if fit), Ojo, Origi, Wilson

07 Jan 2017 00:01:37
Ojo has to be my number 1 pick but also looking forward to seeing Gomez should he be on.

07 Jan 2017 00:18:53
Agree with Ron - definitely hoping to see Ojo, reckon he may have had a few first team games this season if it weren't for injury.

07 Jan 2017 00:26:28
My guess at the starting X1 is Karius, Alexander-Arnold, Lucas, Klavan, Moreno, Ojo, Stewart, Wijnaldum, Milner, Sturidge, Origi

07 Jan 2017 07:17:31
I like YOU's team but i guess Moreno might play instead of Juanma and Woodburn possibly in front of Wilson.

07 Jan 2017 07:38:12
Will Matip not get a bit of time on the pitch or would that be viewed as more of a risk than a benefit for him to play?

07 Jan 2017 16:09:22
Matip may get time vs Saints in the midweek Cup game, in readiness for the Utd game. At least, I hope.

07 Jan 2017 18:44:19
Important to remember that Plymouth are an established, tough, professional team who are having a good season. A team of kids and kids alone won't be enough - we need at least one or two more senior ones than Lucas, Stewart and Origi.

08 Jan 2017 11:00:44
You win nothin with kids

06 Jan 2017 21:41:11
Fairplay to ED001.

Remember you saying at the start of the season that WHU were going to struggle this time round.

They look like a shadow of the team from last year. Such a sharp decline.

Believable6 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - confidence looks really fragile, they folded after the ridiculous penalty decision. Rather than using it to drive them on, they just gave up.}

06 Jan 2017 22:35:51
That right back Nordveit is dreadful. Scored an own goal after playing Everyone on side, then played everyone onside to make it 3 vs 1, then lost his marker from a corner. Directly at fault for 3 of City's goals. I'll never moan about Clyne again!

06 Jan 2017 23:48:31
Yea its really looking bleak for them. Fans never gave up though fair play even at 4-0.

One thing that irks me after embarrassing displays like that is when the match is over the coming together of the players. it seems to be an insight into the attitudes. I noticed Payet laughing and hugging City players along with a couple of other guys, then you have people like Noble who looked very down and sombre. I can't imagine being whipped 5-0 and being able to have a joke and a laugh. It's pretty disrespectful.

The penalty decision was ridiculously light. Any contact in the box is becoming a 50/ 50 pen. It's outrageous.

As much as Clyne can be a bit infuriating at times when it comes to his decision making etc. he's a very reliable player. He seems to grasp when to bomb forward and when to get back and cover, its just when he has the ball he seems to go into panic mode and rarely pick the right pass.

07 Jan 2017 00:48:44
Stadium move has been an absolute disaster for them. Their transfer business last Summer was awful and ended up with several below average players. Billc being found out is no surprise. Payet leaving is more likely than ever although i doubt marseille would be able to afford the reported huge fee.

{Ed007's Note - I don't think Bilic is as much of a problem as the clownshoes running the club. I'm sure there's been a load of transfer dealings in and out that Bilic didn't want or sanction.}

07 Jan 2017 10:29:34
Exactly how they got that stadium and how much the taxpayer has had to foot the bill is a scandal. No coincidence that Brady is a Tory cheerleader. Still she makes a nice trio with the porn peddlers. Feel sorry for their fans. Reid seems the best of the bunch player wise.

07 Jan 2017 04:58:11
Ed7, i've read quite a few managers like this. Might as well just let those 'clownshoes' manage the teams. In the end, it's the managers who get the sack, not them.

06 Jan 2017 20:57:33
Coutinho back in training. Good timing for the United game.

Do we have any interest in Leonardo da Silva Lopes?

Thanks Eds.

{Ed002's Note - Not that I am aware.}

06 Jan 2017 18:57:19
2 inter-related questions for Ed002, if he's around and has the time to answer this. What constitutes the entirety of a Football Agents role? The Agents are raking in millions of $$, so what exactly is it that they are doing on a day in-day out basis?
Also, its common for a lot of Parents to be the Agent for their kids, but I wouldn't be wrong in assuming that not all these parents have received any formal or professional training in being an Agent, so it makes me wonder what exactly does one need to do to become and Agent and if you need to have a certain educational/ professional background to become an Agent?

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - This is an open-ended question really. The vast majority of registered agents spend their time trying to match players to clubs, or in some cases trying to move kids on to other agents for a fee. Most don't make that much money - there are many, many agents out there. Some at the higher end spend their time building relationships with particular clubs and club staff and working on advertising and other deals for their clients. Some work on behalf of clubs by conducting transfer negotiations and others work to find and move managers and coaches. Some also work as brokers to find and filter potential buyers or investors for clubs. There are no specific "qualifications". As for family members representing players it is reasonably rare - particularly in England. They are not registered as agents when doing such work.}

06 Jan 2017 21:26:07
Thanks Ed. I agree its very open ended, but I was just curious to know if these Agents need to come from a Footballing background, or they are just like a lot of other brokers/ agents in other fields, where they primarily need to have good salesmanship and people skills.

{Ed002's Note - Some players have become agents, but not that many.}

07 Jan 2017 06:53:51
I have a family relationship to tony Stephens, Beckhams old agent as well as others through sfx. He worked extremely hard and diligently for his clients from what I could see. Beckham valued him greatly and always regretted that fergie wouldn't have a bar of him. Posh and becks turned up at a Xmas Doo at Tony's house a few years back when I was back visiting. when he heard I was a scouser he loved some friendly slagging off, really nice fella.

{Ed001's Note - just to addend Ed002's note, there are a whole slew of players-turned-agents from this year, due to FIFA's relaxing of the rules. They are intermediaries now and they are pretty much unregulated, so there are hundreds of them. Most are wasting their time and everyone else's, some are already stepping on toes (one ex-player was offering around an Aston Villa player without his agent's knowledge a few weeks back), some will no doubt be fine. Chris Birchall has just launched an agency, Julian Joachim did so a few months ago, and I expect many more to do so now the rules are relaxed. All is very recent and probably best avoided until they establish themselves really.}

06 Jan 2017 17:48:49
As it seems it may be a quiet window with regards to incoming, I was wondering if the eds had heard anything about fsg selling part or controlling stake in the club? Macca mentioned something a while ago about it, but it seems to have all gone quiet again

{Ed002's Note - Try the search engine.}

06 Jan 2017 17:39:34
Hello Ed's,
Have Liverpool shown any interest in Ajax centre back Davinson Sanchez?
He seems to me like the van djik (at Celtic) / niklas sule type of CB but one we must buy before he makes a move to another club and has his price tag way beyond our reach.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - No. And who would he replace?}

06 Jan 2017 18:25:25
Good question, Ed.

06 Jan 2017 18:25:25
Good question, Ed.

06 Jan 2017 20:55:49
Hmm let me guess Sakho/ illori/ possibly lucas/ maybe even klavan in the summer. I genuinely don't expect any of these to stay beyond the summer.
So we are left with Matip lovren and Gomez
Guess that looks CL squad quality to you Hamilton red.
Trusting youth is good but people need to understand our squad is quite weak especially at CB to last a season without europe. Imagine one with it

06 Jan 2017 21:11:28
Navjyot I agree with you to an extent but why would klavan be leaving? He just joined us and it doing relatively well. But it's definitely an area we should look to improve in the summer unless Gomez really steps up and is outstanding. We have to remember that at this rate we will have CL football and a much more difficult season, so we would have to improve the first 11 as much as the depth. I just don't see anything happening in January though, maybe a forward and a few outgoings.

07 Jan 2017 06:53:53
Everyone is assuming Gomez is the future but he is largely untested at CB. I hope he gets his chance and can stay injury free to fulfill his obvious potential but that should not stop us strengthening the squad. We are defensively very poor and Gomez won't be the answer solely.

Klaven, Sakho and Matip look pretty average to me and Lovren is struggling without the protection of a solid DM.

Hope Gomez gets his chance in the cups at CBS and not LB.

07 Jan 2017 23:41:14
Ppl need to give klavan a bit more credit, how many games he played for us? His 1st season in epl and he's visibly getting better game by game, not saying he's a worldy or ought but he's done enough I'd like to c him along side matip for a run of games especially once fully up to speed. n finally 4.2m

06 Jan 2017 14:17:24
Ed001. I appreciate the club have said Hendo is not available this weekend but is his heel injury thought to be short term as in dats rather than weeks/ months.

Believable5 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - yes.}

06 Jan 2017 21:12:48
Will the united game be too early for him ed? I think we'll be in trouble if we are without him against them.

{Ed001's Note - he was being said to be a slight doubt for the weekend. So he should be fit for the game after for sure. Not checked, as I can't see how that would have changed, unless he damaged it doing a fitness test. However, I doubt he would have been doing anything other than having treatment, as he is not needed this weekend.}

06 Jan 2017 11:35:25
Klopp's hinted Gomez will start on Sunday, if that happens I'll be delighted. I feel more than any of our other youth players there's a route to the first team for him. Fingers tightly crossed that he can stay fit and show us what he's capable of other the rest of the season.

Believable9 Unbelievable0

06 Jan 2017 15:21:31
Great! We will finally see if he can actually play CB for LFC cos many are raving about him without ever seen him play that position for us in the first team.

06 Jan 2017 17:42:39
He played CB in his last match for us in a 352 formation so what you on about hamo

06 Jan 2017 18:28:24
One game and suddenly he can play CB seamlessly? Really? Maybe one game is enough for you Lerchy BUT I would have to see more of him in that position before I make a fair judgment on him.

06 Jan 2017 11:29:44
I don't think Liverpool will do much business in Jan. Would be good to add a player if he's first XI material otherwise I'd wait till the summer. Problem is finding and finding a first XI player in Jan is hard. Youth can fill gaps in the interim if needed. Top 4 will still be a huge challenge as all of the Top 6 are doing well.

ed002 what was the music being played at the start of the Chelsea sharkopod?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - The First Impression - "Swingin' London Scene".

06 Jan 2017 10:47:05
Hello Ed02,
You mentioned bout Franck Kissie of Atlanta in the sharkopod. Have liverpool shown any interest in the player, I assume you saying if anyone want to sign him they would need to pay over the tops. He is young and relatively raw but is a top prospect on what I have seen of him.
Cheers

{Ed002's Note - Juventus and Chelsea have held a number of discussions with Atalanta over Franck Kessie who has also been watched by Atletico Madrid, Manchester City, Napoli, Arsenal, Liverpool, Monaco, Manchester United and Roma (and probably others) this season and whilst on loan at Cesena last season. Sevilla, who looked to taking Kessie in the summer under the Cotonou Agreement would have the benefit of not having the work permit issue that the English sides would have unless they paid well over the odds for the player - which is likely what will be required after one offer of €24M was rejected. One club has had an ex-player talk off the record with Kessie to determine the amount of interest he would have in a move to England. He could potentially be priced out of the market for a January move.}

06 Jan 2017 11:13:29
thanks for the reply ed002, Chelsea must be one of the favourites to sign kessie, they have the Oscar money waiting to be spent plus they have also got rid of mikel, they are doing very nicely out of the Chinese, to get £60m for Oscar, somebody at Chelsea deserves a Oscar! .

06 Jan 2017 11:40:51
Thanks a ton Ed02. He is certainly a player I would buy.

{Ed002's Note - I don't think he will be moving to Liverpool Harry.}

06 Jan 2017 11:44:21
I am coming into terms with it Ed02 😎.

06 Jan 2017 08:54:45
Hi Eds
With Bojan not getting a game at Stoke do you think that he could fit into our system? Watched him when he played and he is a very exciting player

Believable0 Unbelievable5

{Ed001's Note - what would be the point in signing a poor man's Coutinho? He is a far inferior version of Couts, not good enough, doesn't work hard enough and is at his level, midtable, now. Not only is he not good enough, he is injury prone.}

06 Jan 2017 09:43:16
Ha! so that's a no?!

{Ed001's Note - I just don't see the point. He would only be a squad player for us and that would just be a waste of money.}

06 Jan 2017 09:52:03
No, i absolutely agree Ed, i just found the absolution in your reply tickled me.

06 Jan 2017 09:58:23
Would be like a rafa benitez signing that one.

06 Jan 2017 13:17:23
Thats pretty funny right? A player who cannot get a game a Stoke will be good for us because you think he fits our pattern of play? I don't know. This is not the Pulis Stoke. They clearly try to play football the right way if possible. that's a No to bojan for me

06 Jan 2017 15:34:05
Bojan? If Joe Allen consistently, is playing ahead of you then you know you`re in trouble. NEXT!

06 Jan 2017 08:40:16
One of the posters on here got in a tizz the other day suggesting the title was Chelseas unless we beat Sunderland.
Watched them play Spurs and i would suggest that their defense is porous when they are put under pressure. Any team that attacks swiftly with quick passing might reap the rewards.
I can see them dropping points vs Arsenal and Man U and if we beat them at Anfield it's game on.
If we can go on a winning streak then who knows.
Plenty of games, plenty of points, let's tonk the Mancs and go from there.

Believable13 Unbelievable0

06 Jan 2017 08:48:58
I don't think many would agree to it mate unfortunately they have already handed the title to Chelsea coz they won the title 18 months ago. We will beat Chelsea at home but I don't think we will win all our remaining games. By the time we play UTD Spurs would be above us as well City and Arsenal.
We have only ourself to blame after loosing and drawing against teams who are lower in the table.

{Ed001's Note - why would Spurs, City and Arsenal be above us? Get a grip H, you really are making even less sense than normal. We are above them because we deserve to be, they are below us because they deserve to be. There is a long way to go, anything could happen, so why assume we are going to go lower after one draw? These kind of results happen every year, that teams who finish in the top four lose or draw with relegation battlers, it doesn't mean anything more than losing points.}

06 Jan 2017 08:58:38
In case you missed it Harry, we are now a point closer to Chelsea after the last round of games.

06 Jan 2017 09:00:30
Spurs are two points below us and play on Saturday afternoon which I am sure they will win and go second. City and Arsenal play bride our late kick off against UTD on Sunday evening which is a must win game.
What is wrong in this argument?

{Ed001's Note - it is your constant assumption that everything Liverpool is bad and everything else is better. It must be being so cheery that keeps you going! Talk about pessimistic. Have you thought about waiting and seeing? We have got 20 games into the season still ahead of those teams, so there is a very good chance we can stay there a bit longer. You sound just like all those pundits from last season, who spent every week saying Leicester will fall this weekend. Why assume the worst? Why not just try enjoying the moment while we are above them?}

06 Jan 2017 09:08:53
I did not claim anything such and you are simply making up Ed01. Don't make me the bad guy . I am worried with yeh fixtures coming up while you are not!

{Ed001's Note - I have not made anything up, you are constantly slagging off everything about the club. Why would any of us be worried? You need to chill out and relax, there is nothing to worry about right now, take one game at a time and stop worrying about titles and games in 3 weeks time. The next game is all that matters.}

06 Jan 2017 10:17:23
Sit down haha

{Ed025's Note - take no notice harry...us evertonians must stick together mate.. :)

06 Jan 2017 10:57:11
Haha. I think everyone on this site tends to overestimate the importance of each game because we feel each win and loss so much. Reality is it's a marathon not a sprint and it probably doesn't matter too much if we are slightly ahead or behind midway through the race, it's how close where at as we enter the final stretch and how much we have in the tank then.

06 Jan 2017 13:39:22
Harry the top 6 is going to change its order every week for the next month or so as all the big teams play each other. it is so tight we could find ourselves 4th on a Saturday Saturday tea time if we are playing on a Sunday. and so what? Main thing is we win the on the Sunday and climb back into 2nd. it really makes no difference at this stage it's so tight up there we just need to concentrate on maximum points every game, and keeping in there ready for the all important title push come the end of the season. Titles are not decided in January! Don't worry about Spurs, Chelsea, arsenal. or the Mancs for that matter. I've never met anyone so negative, cheer up!

06 Jan 2017 15:54:43
Wow, Ed01 is in midseason form already. This is the same Harry who once posted that, "Chelsea will now win cos we bottled it vs the minnows", whoever those are. Then he said, "What makes you think we will beat Chelsea at Anfield? ". Now he`s saying that "I`m sure we will beat Chelsea at home but won`t win our remaining games" or "I`m sure Spurs and City will be ahead of us by the time we play UTD". Can you give us the winning lottery nos. as well? News flash: Chelsea won`t win their remaining matches either, DUH. Wow, thank heavens Ed was able to reply cohesively cos I am totally lost with Harry`s constant double speak and contradictions. Men, just chill out and enjoy the games, taking it one at a time instead of spreading doom and pessimism all the time.

06 Jan 2017 17:06:20
The way I see it is every team is going to drop points between now and the end of the season, what will be most important will be the timing of when teams drop points. I remember when Utd were dominating, every time they lost their challengers would also lose. If we can manage to. It slip up when Chelsea do this putting some pressure on, maybe we can force them into mistakes or at least make them nervy. Say we lose the next 2 games and drop off the pace or we lose only the final 2 games. Same points total but I honestly think not necessarily the same finishing position.

07 Jan 2017 08:56:34
To be fair, H did give Chelsea the title as soon as they signed Kante.
However, ed001 is spot on - H thinks all our players are inferior to others and they are all going to break down and struggle every week when others are going to get better each week. Every other team is going to come in to a rich vein of form when we are going to struggle to get draws. We're going to concede more and our strikers are going to forget how to score. Our injured players are never going to return and our fit players are going to get injures.

Harry, no disrespect, but you are definitely a glass half empty kind of LFC fan 😄Kloppo will turn you into a believer though.

07 Jan 2017 23:51:27
Harry is also neglecting a huge point here too, klopps record against the other 5 of the big 6.

05 Jan 2017 22:26:05
Hi Ed001,

Who would you like to get a chance to start in the FA cup game? Personally I'd like to see TAA, Karius, Stewart and Woodburn in action.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - Gomez, Wilson and Juanma.}

06 Jan 2017 06:41:03
Ojo and Wilson with the amount of hype on their shoulders and with Mane away this could be the best game for the kid to make an impression

06 Jan 2017 07:56:56
Definitely Ojo

{Ed001's Note - I think he needs more time to recover from his injury personally. I doubt he would do himself justice and that would just lead to the fans getting on his back. We have seen how little patience the fans have with youngsters breaking through if they are not having a storming game every time they appear.}

06 Jan 2017 08:27:36
Wilson looks to have matured a lot in last 12 months - if Ojo isn't back to fitness then I'd like to see Wilson too

06 Jan 2017 08:31:36
Totally agree about ojo. And he looks like he is just getting up to speed at that level. He shoild be left to continue his upwards progression.

06 Jan 2017 09:05:34
Be nice to see Jack Dunn on the bench? He scored a hat trick off the bench the other day for the u23's.

06 Jan 2017 09:31:03
Good shout on juanma, would like to see what he can do. I think ojo would be suited to a bench role and maybe come on in the second half to get a taste of what he has been missing.

06 Jan 2017 09:46:50
agree on Ojo, but im itching to see Wilson.

06 Jan 2017 15:56:09
I hear per the Ed01, that Juanma is quite the talent both offensively and defensively.

{Ed001's Note - the U23 set up really believe in this lad, which is why I want to see him in the first team.}

07 Jan 2017 11:24:53
Be a shame if Ojo isn't ready.
Never mind, I just hope Kloppo doesn't lose faith in him.
For me he looks like a world beater one day. It's the way he moves with the ball, at pace but effortlessly. He moves like Digger, like a Rolls Royce. 😎
