What about Sidney Sam as a winger, German international, can't agree new contract and maybe Sami does us a favour, way cheaper than Salah and miles better than Sterling, thoughts lads?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Why would "Sami" do Liverpool a favour? Will Brendo sell Coutinho to Swansea on the cheap?}

If he can't keep hold of the player (never heard of him) i'm sure sami would rather he gone to Liverpool than anyone else. if arsenal and swansea both offered 70m for suarez, I know which br would decline and accept.

Agree0 Disagree0

Does Sidney sam not have a 25 million release clause

Agree0 Disagree0

His contract runs out in 6 months. He is going to sign for Schalke.

Agree0 Disagree0

I heard last last night he could be sold for 2.5mil but not a reliable source.

Alright eds,
I believe LFC have got all the staff to sign confidentiality forms regarding tranfers as too much info was being leaked? I was just wondering if you have seen a difference regarding the amount of gossip that is filtering out or not?
I would imagine that most clubs try to implement similar tactics regarding transfer as well but just curious really.
Thanks for your time.
YNWA *****

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - In most cases clubs would rather their staff don't talk about transfers. In some cases clubs will arrange for a representative to talk with someone from the media if they wish information to leak out. Additionally, in exchange for alcohol agents will talk.}

Ed its not alcohol that makes them talk :)

Not a rumour, just abit of a teaser. Since 2008 six players for Liverpool who we all know have scored a goal or two. Their names start and end with the same letter eg Terry mc dermott. (JUST AS AN EXAMPLE) Can you guess from the top of your head who they are. No cheating. Its obvious but it will get you thinking.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Robbie Fowler is the only one that comes to mind lol. this has actually got me thinking

I can only think of 4. Dossena, Arbeloa, Riera and Kyrgiakos.

Agree0 Disagree0

Robbie Fowler didn't play for Liverpool since 2007,
Albert Riera, Alvaro Arbeloa, Andrea Dossena, Sotirios Kyrgiakos, Sebastian Coates and Nuri Sahin.

Arbeloa didn't score in 2008

Eds are we looking at off loading Glen Johnson during Jan or the summer because of his poor displays and his high wage demands? If so would we look to replace straight away, hence the interest in Montoya? Or would we look to cover with the likes ok Kelly?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - You seem to just be making stuff up and then bothering us with.}

When Glen got injured after a few games early in the season, everyone was talking how it was only when he was out did we realise what a valuable player he had been. Now, after a dip in form, we want him out? The same goes when SG has a bad few games: "he's not got the legs any more" etc etc. P**ses me off, call yourself fans?

Agree0 Disagree0

Burkey, we were down to our bare bones at that point, no Wisdom, Kelly, Enrique (Cissokho hadn't settled) We were playing 3-5-2 and playing Hendo and Flanno wingbacks or playing 4 at back with Toure right back, a place for which he was ill equipped. We missed having a RIGHTBACK not Glen.

The popular opinion with Stevie is he should be used from the bench and then further up the field. None of the decent respectful posters give the guy any stick personally.
With Johnson I feel it's different. I posted a few months ago saying I thought he was dire quite frankly.
I'm not abusing the fella, I just think he's costing us points now.
He looks like a guy who, for whatever reason isn't enjoying his football anymore. This is odd because Rodgers style of football should be suiting GJ down to a tee.
Perhaps his attacking ability was highlighted when we played defensive anti football.
I feel for all the excellent spaces he gets into, time and time again, his decision making seems to have gotten worse.
He'll feint the cross, then stand like he's

Evening Ed002 as I only use the mobile version of the site it is a bit of a pain to search the other pages to find out who you think may be going where. Seeing as I'd like to have a flutter on possible transfer targets (irrespective of to whom, purely for financial gain) could you kindly share your thoughts? Cheers

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Nothing but the obvious summer deals Chris with Chelsea sending Mata to Barcelona and paying them €75M as well in exchange for Messi. Barcelona will then use the €75M to buy Suarez.}

Is that serious ed?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - The summer is still a long way off of course.}

The thought of arguably the greatest footballer ever been, joining one of the most boring football clubs on the planet (Chelsea) makes me wanna throw up

I'm currently reading The Grapes of Wrath (again ; one of my favourite books).
Irish Rover's post yesterday and Ed002's comments - Route 66 from Chicago to California would be a cracker of a drive with a bit of everything.
I was just on google there, and there is a real place in CA called Weedpatch, where the Joads found some temporary peace in a government camp. Brilliant. Make your own pone and gravy for brekkie as well.

Hi ed002

I know this has been discussed before and you have dismissed the idea however I do think a short post fixed at the top of the page with any update/'current situation' on the few repeated players may be useful - if only for the transfer windows.

In the past, a few posters have put together a 'master' post of all your pasted in comments on select players and these have been well-received.

Maybe something to just try for this month - it could save you guys some time?

Anyway, great work mate.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Hi All,

Need some help - been trying to everywhere to get 2 tickets for a home game for my son and I.

They appear to be like rocking horse sh*ep.

We live in down near Bournemouth and try to get up once a year .

If anyone can help or has any good ideas that would be appreciated.

cheers

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Terry Mac
Invest in a Members card for you and one for your son (Junior available if he's young enough) then you can get access to tickets as and when they go on sale. Main sales are twice a year for games up to Christmas and then after. If you don't get the tickets you want during those sales, they have late availability sales nearer match days. It's all on the LFC website.
Cheers lad
JFT96

Agree0 Disagree0

Hi Terrymac, you can rither try writing to the club or sending an email explaining your situation as they do hold tickets back. Good luck. Or get a membership for you and your son and then buy tickets when available.

Ynwa

Agree0 Disagree0

Hi mate me and my dad use Thomas Cook sports to get tickets as we can't get any tickets any other way.
They normally have a hotel included in the price which saves you driving all that way and back in one day. Hope this helps cheers frazer

Agree0 Disagree0

Hi Mate,

Ticket's are impossible to get during the year directly from the club.

I wouldn't waste time buying through third parties.

Have you tried Twitter? Plenty of LFC facevalue ticket exchange accounts, I've sold tickets on my fancard on their and never had any problems.

If you search LFC Facevalue or LFC Ticket Exchange and similar you'll find the accounts, just tweet them what you're looking for, only downside is tickets don't usually come available until nearer the time of the match.

Good luck

Thanks all - very helpful.

Apparently Banega available for 8 million. I'd sign him for that fee could be used as DM or AM. If Rakitic was available for 9 million if reports are true, would it be possible to sign both for midfield?

Salah close to being done for 9 million. Slight possibility of Tello on loan or loan to buy. This would still be a combined fee of 26 million for three quality midfielders and the option to buy a fourth at end of season.

Which part is it that you are dismissing Ed the number of players, the fees I quoted or the combined package of the three in ration to signing on fee, wages and transfer?

I only ask as the fees I quoted were from various sources if more by all means let us know.

I understand the financial package as a whole for each is far more than just the transfer fee.

Agree0 Disagree0

Valencia got Banega for £15m-£16m they would want at least £10m maybe £12m i'd still pay it though one of the most all rounded midfielders today in my opinion.

Not Liverpool related but how unlucky Theo Walcott is, out for 6 months. Gutting for the lad, misses Arsenal's season run in (best season they've had for a fair while, as well) and England's trip to Brazil in the World cup.

Theo goes to the last World cup and doesn't get a game and now he's come of age and a touch more complete as a player and he's out injured until Aug/Sept 14, spare a thought for the lad, what a gutter for him.

Still, selfishly i'm just glad it's not one of our lads like Sturridge. always had a soft spot for Theo, knowing he was a young reds fan.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Yeah I'm a bit gutted with that, 1 of our very few hopes for a half decent World Cup! They'll all start dropping like flies soon. As per

Agree0 Disagree0

Nice to see a kind post and I have to agree with you. Very good player and would have given England options up front. Hopefully, Sterling can step in and show us his potential now for the World Cup.

Agree0 Disagree0

And I only put him into my fantasy team :(

Agree0 Disagree0

Every cloud has a silver lining, at least he can forgo the pleasure of getting humilated by Suarez's Uraraguy.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ollieston,

As a life-long Gooner, I would just like to say that is one of the nicest posts I have ever read.
Fair play to you my friend. You are a gentleman.

Agree0 Disagree0

Iregardless of nationality or club any player to get an injury like that, which rules them out for significant periods is never nice to hear.

Hope he fully recovers because if he looses that pace he will never be the same. Anyway all the best to him hope he makes a speedy recovery.

Agree0 Disagree0

For a winger to score as much as he has he's proven a lot of his critics wrong. I've always liked Theo and he always looks to improve himself. ham he's unlikely to be in the world cup.

Btw Theo never attended the south Africa world cup.You're thinking of 2006 world cup

Hi Eds, great work as usual, a bit of an odd question and I can understand if you wish not to answer it, but if the idea of a pan European league came to fruition do you think Liverpool would be involved, or indeed how many Premier League clubs could perhaps be involved? Cheers.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - It would be a matter of timing and how they are doing in the league, what the owners at that time want etc.. Right now Liverpool has not been one of the clubs involved in the discussions whilst three others have over recent years. So it is not possible to answer with any confidence. With one exception, the clubs involved in the discussions have been CL clubs.}

Thanks very much for the reply Ed002, much appreciated. ;)

Eds, a straight answer would end all the speculation. Mata is available, is there any chance Liverpool will be in for him?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Why would you think Mata is available?}

Mourinho said the door was open for mata if he wants to leave?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Er, no he didn't. I think you may have misinterpreted something.}

Hence mata wanting and deserving first team football?? We all know he will be moving on! Not exactly rocket science is it?

Hardy1892

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - There is a chance as part of the Messi deal he could go to Barcelona.}

Jose doesn't want Mata to leave but his door is open if Mata wants to discuss the situation with him. "err Jose, when can I play?, getting bored watching from the bench" . "Not much this season Juan, but come to my office and I will explain more because I feel your pain and I am hurting with you!".

I've been told by an arsenal fan (bad source) that suarez's buy out clause is 70 mil.
Don't know about you guys but I love listening to the arsenal fans thinking they're going to buy him, when frankly that ship has sailed and they have absolutely no chance.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I don't think Suarez has £70million to spend mate

Agree0 Disagree0

I heard that if we don't make champions league football it's 70 million but of we do its a 100 million to any team out of the epl and 130 million to an English club

Agree0 Disagree0

The legend that is Ian Rush, is quoted as saying that his buy out is £120 mill.
If there is one who knows?

hearing banega's available for 8m. would be perfect for us

This is a horrible time, waiting for transfers to happen and so much rubbish printed in the press.

But we must not forget that: We need reinforcements in midfield (as was highlighted because of our injuries and the lightness of our bench)

Newspapers come up with all sorts of stories but fellow Reds and friends, have trust in our club. Last window we signed quality defenders, hence our cover for our injured defenders. I expect a few shrewd moves. There are a lot of quality out there and not for necessarily £20M+ deals. we all have our favorites to join, but let's give BR and the scouts a chance.

I am hearing Real Madrid are interested in offering over 70 million for Suarez, triggering his clause. Do you know if this may be true?
Thanks

Believable0 Unbelievable0

And it was all going so well.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ssn said the buy-out was £100M for International clubs and £130M for English clubs, and of course Real Madrid will be interested, he's the best player on the planet at the moment.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - You really need to forget all of these "clauses".}

Your right about clauses Eds but its just something I read that release was £70 million. I do not think that Rodgers would be tempted to be honest for that amount now anyhow

Agree0 Disagree0

Gareth if we receive 70mil + for suarez he will be sold, rodgers will have no say fsg will sell.
we are a 4/5 players short and 70mil will help us getting 3 players in.
suarez will be sold that s why he signed a new contract suarez will end up with 20% from a large sale and we will have funds to buy our targets.

Agree0 Disagree0

Vlr I would have agreed with you for sure in summer but I think your wrong. They would not sell because currently he is not being a pain in the arse and there was never any doubt over his credentials.
the only reason he wasnt IMO worth more than 50 million in summer was due to the likelyhood he would miss games because of his temprement but with that gone, there would be no rush to sell at all and other teams with infinite money would offer more than that

Agree0 Disagree0

Wat about santa clause, bit like Berbatov only good once a year

Hi eds, I've seen people on here talking about how players who leave Barcelona suddenly have less chance of a spot in the Spain national squad. Is this due to 'politics' or is it there another reason? I was just curious about it.

Thanks

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - it is due to the fact that the Spanish only care about 2 clubs - Real Madrid and Barcelona. They barely even realise any other clubs exist and no one takes any notice really. My parents live in Andalusia, yet, even though there are a number of Andalusian clubs, the people support either Madrid or Barca. There is a one bar, that is a supporters club of one of the other clubs, Betis I think they said, and the club consists of the bar owner. So playing for any other team makes you an outsider.}

Alethico madrid must be taken seriously by the spanish manager by now or am I wrong

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - they don't exactly have a huge amount of players for the Spanish national side, but I would like to think those they do have will get the chance they deserve. Villa has certainly been back in the national team, despite leaving Barca. But it is more a case of Barca and Madrid not having Spanish players for certain positions, leaving the way open for those from other teams.}

They need a manager not from spain fresh it up

How come Pepe Riena's stock has fallen so dramatically?
Not so long back Arsenal were prepared to bid £25mill for the on loan goalkeeper and now it appears we are prepared to let him go for a fee of around €6mill.
At 31 years of age he still has a number of seasons in him. Still a quality keeper and a bargain to any team the snaps him up for that figure!
Am I the only one who feels he is worth more than the current figures being suggested for the guys signature?

Y.N.W.A.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

His performances dipped dramatically after 2010. This did coincide with a turn in Liverpools team performances too. Clubs also know we have another 1st team keeper in Migs, so playing second fiddle and on loan, his value will have lowered.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd say 8 is fair price still given his age and length of contract.

Napoli may have interest in both Johnson and Skrtle also. Would take 7 million for Johnson and 10 million for Skrtle.

Would be nice if they did 25 million for the three would give us a decent amount for a replacement .i.e Montoya.
Plus three high earners off the wagebill too
