Thanks Eds.

If Rodgers is to go who would you suggest we should be looking at?

Believable0 Unbelievable6

{Ed002's Note - I have explained the options as I see it.}

Hi Ed1,

What do you think of Mancini as a manager. I know he just became the manager of Inter. But like to know your view

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed001's Note - he is too busy arguing with players to be a good manager. He is always falling out with people and holding grudges against them. That is why Man City removed him, not because he didn't win the league, it was his attitude. The team end up turning against him. He does not get the most out of the team at his disposal for me, either. It always seems like the team could play so much better than he allows.}

If the club were to remove Rodgers (but I don't think this is certainty).

Then one of our first targets should be Klopp. This seasons failings at Dortmund may prompt the sack. Or he may just wanna try a new country.

In addition to this if we dd manage to get Klopp. Wouldn't this aid us in trying to sign players such as Hummels?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I don't see that Klopp is an option at this time - and Hummels certainly isn't.}

I think De Boer would be the best we could attract this summer to be honest. If the likes of Klopp, Simeone etc. were to be up for moving elsewhere, I very much doubt we'd be at the top of the pile for their signatures.

Ed just taught of a good poll

Was lfc summers transfer business over all a good one

I mean it was great for the future bad for now if you ask me (balo was shocking but lovren was unluck as he is a good defender)

Just watching great bill shanks on ssp5 my god hairs stood up on the back of my neck. Wish Rodgers was more ruthless and show the same enthusiasm as him we would get some were, he made a comment saying theses fans pay good money to watch you they save up sell things so you go out there and play for the people not for me for them, your on good money so get out there .That was back then my god look at the money there on now unbelievable.

What a man!!
The fans still believe in Shanks dream that our club will dominate world football forever,, I wish the owners/managers 'previous and now' shared that same dream. It's amazing what one man's beliefs have accomplished, and it's HIS traditions that we still keep now, that are the reason that IMO this is the special club that can't be matched

Hi Guys!

I come in need of some help.

Could you fill out this survey for me about American Football and the NFL?

You haven't got to be a fan of the sport or anything like that to answer, I just need as many people as possible from various sports, backgrounds, etc.

The link to the survey is below and it'll take no more than a minute or two!

Hello Ed's, great site!

Now I know, unlike myself, there are a lot of people who want BR out and expect the club to get rid of him at the end of the season.

I know you can never be certain, but is that going to happen regardless of how we finish, for example if we go on to finish in the top 4 and win the FA Cup? Or would you expect them to give him more time should he finish the season strongly?

Regardless of what happens, I personally think it is the transfer committe, which I accept he is part of, that needs addressing more than the manager.

Cheers

Believable1 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - Done to death - please read the posts.}

The commitee and BR (who is a member and who had the final say on what striker we bought, I`ll remind you) are being addressed as we speak.

edo1 what do u think the real reason sterling won't sign? is he being to gready or his head been turned real? and one more thing whos contract is more important sterlings or hendos for me hendos all day long cheers

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - it is early days mate, they are just in initial negotiations, they can take months to sort out. It must be remembered that agents deal with these, not the players. Agents try to get the best deal for their client they can, which means using interest from other teams etc. It is just business. For me, the important thing is to tie both down.}

Do you think they both will sign Ed?

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I do, yes. This time around anyway, might be different if we are not making progress the next time around though.}

Sterling will not be at LFC for life but Henderson won't go nowhere you can tell by there attitude

Agree9 Disagree0

07 Feb 2015 09:19:32
dezyboy2,i think it is more a case of stirling has the ability to progress to a so called bigger club if he wants to win trophies,but lfc is prob as high as hendersons ability will take him,no disrespect intended

Hi lads and lasses, first time poster here. Fantastic site, i'm pretty much hooked now! And thanks for the info and insight eds.

Just wanted to ask, apologies if it's been done to death already but whilst some seem to think the change of management in summer looks inevitable; it does seem that BR is either learning from past mistakes or being forced to. Yes, he is clearly a stubborn so and so but does anyone genuinely feel that the guaranteed upheaval would be worth all that? Especially in the light of the manager hopefully beginning to wake up to the fact that we have stores of talented youth players waiting for a shot.

I know that the Koeman example gets put out there as a reason why development can just continue without much negative effect, but i really don't see Southhampton being in the position that LFC were in last season and should be again in the coming seasons.

Believable2 Unbelievable1

06 Feb 2015 13:54:10
I don't understand what you trying to say; in particular the comparison to Southampton? I think most here used Southampton an example of how you can sell few and introduce few new players without effecting the progress the way it did with us. Like you I also can't see Southampton ending in the top 4 a while yet, but the difference between us and them is the spending not management. We have been within the top 4 spenders for the last 5 or 6 transfer windows (except this January ofcourse) .
I know this won't be popular but I don't think we turned the corner yet this season, I know we are unbeaten and having a good run, but I still think we have problems and only rise to the surface again when we play the better teams .

Agree2 Disagree4

Maybe my post wasn't entirely clear there. I suppose my point regarding So'ton was just that they changed manager and lost some key players to ourselves but seemingly improved.

I might be wrong but i would have thought examples like that are rare particularly when a club can't just buy their way to success. I suppose my fear is that we end up needing to be patient for the next couple of seasons when a new guy comes in and needs to weigh things up and find a winning strategy.

And just a quick question to finish for anyone with an opinion, BR is obviously an employee of the club so why can't they simply tell him he must work with a director of football or accept a def. coach? etc. If he wants to walk, then he can!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - They can tell him that - they were never going to do it half way through the season. They will not be looking for some half assed approach the fans crave.}

IMO, they have let him have his way and he is costing them money through his recurrrent blunders. They won`t allow that again because this time, they will do things their way and if he walks, so be it. He is an employee and not a family member we are stuck w/ for life.

If Sterling doesn´t accept a new contract offer and he is off this summer, what should we be aiming for? Should we go for a like for like replacement? Or should we go for a couple of players? Should we save the money and let either Ibe og Teixeira replace him
Personally I wouldn´t be so sad to see him leave, because if he really wants to play for LFC then he would have signed the contract a long time ago. If one of the following players were to replace him:

- Dybala
- Fekir
- Firmino
- Lacazette

I would think we should be fine, but I would like to hear other opinions.

Believable1 Unbelievable2

{Ed002's Note - I think you will be disappointed.}

Ibe, Markovic, Teixeira, Lallana and Coutinho is more than enough options for the 2-3 roles behind/either side of the striker. If Sterling leaves, I'd just use that money to finance the signing of a striker to compete with Sturridge, a midfielder if Allen and/or Lucas is sold and a goal keeper to compete with Mingolet.

Ibe is a straight replacement though. If Sterling is only seeing green then so be it. I will be dissapointed, but we have plenty of options.

Agree7 Disagree5

06 Feb 2015 13:05:29
Still enjoying the 'screw the fact that it's his career, he should just sign whatever is put infront of him'. How do we as fans ignore the fact that we run our transfers awfully, but it's always the players being unreasonable when it comes to contract negotiations?

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Feb 2015 13:12:53
I don't see the point of this post - Sterling DID sign the contract a long time ago , it runs out at midnight on 30 June 2017 !

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - But he has yet to sign the one in front of him now.}

I think we'd survive and can continue to improve without him. He's a really good player, but not great, so should be replaceable by Markovic, Ibe or Coutinho maybe Lallana for a creative position. Sturridge replacing his current postition as striker.

He will become a great player no doubt, at that point he becomes hard to replace like Gerrard of a few seasons ago, or Suarez of last season.

I'd hope we get a decent price, seems we're able to get decent prices now for players with FSG standing firm. I'd also like to see top level great player coming in with the cash, not 4/5 good players. So if Markovic is the choice then a top top right wing back is bought in to free him into Sterlings role.

Agree1 Disagree0

EMS - All of the above can play striker, and bearing in mind that DS is as fragile as Elijah Price in "Unbreakable" I wouldn´t mind having one of the above in my team. But do you have a particular striker in mind?

Hijkle, he has said it himself that he is happy at LFC and gets plenty of games. That is an aspect that is at least as important as money. If he has set his mind on Real Madrid or Chelsea and thinks he will get the same amount of games, I think he would end up being quite disappointed.

Ritters of hale, problem is, if Sterling doesn´t want to sign a new contract then, from a financial point of view should be sold, instead of letting him run down his contract and LFC end up with getting zip.

Agree0 Disagree0

If Sterling leaves, someone who is at a similar level and a similar sort of player is Memphis Depay. Though, I think he is heading to Man Utd.

Agree0 Disagree1

I agree with EMS. If Sterling leaves, then so be it. Just ask for 40-45 million GBP from Real or whoever wants him and sign a top striker like Dybala who would cost around 30 million. But knowing LFC, i can see the money being spent on 3-4 players than one top notch signing. The club simply loves to rebuild again and again without much to show for it.

Agree1 Disagree0

Dybala is meant to be a wonderful talent you'd have to consider him and Lacazette or if Isco is again up for sale

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Neither Dybala nor Lacazette will be moving to Liverpool.}

June 2015 will mean 2 years left on his contract.
From that point on if he has not signed then his value will drop slowly but it would drop.
That for me would be crunch time.
I think it is a pointless discussion anyway because he will sign a new contract in my opinion.

Agree2 Disagree0

Hi Eds,
Regarding Centre Backs & Can. Three CBs seems to work for us but Can, IMO is wasted as a CB, he's much too good, am sure he'll be played in midfield next season. With so many CBs on the books, Skrtel, Sakho, Lovren, Llori, Toure, Coates, Wisdom - I'm guessing Toure, Coates and maybe Lovren will leave but do you think Llori and/or Wisdom will get a chance in the first team? Thanks.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I would not be so sure about Lovren leaving. A decision needs to be taken with Ilori - he won't want to come back to be at the foot of the pecking order. Wilson would I suspect be back as a squad player.}

I think we should go back to the diamond personally after seeing just ho good Can is in a more forward role. If we had Lucas, Henderson and Can in midfield we woudn't need 3 centre backs because we'd dominate the midfield and be much harder to break down as a unit.

Agree8 Disagree3

06 Feb 2015 14:29:07
Whilst it's working and we're picking up results I wouldn't change a thing. I've no doubt going forward ( possibly next season now) Can will be pushed further forward where it's more natural for him.

But for right now, we should be happy that we have started to look solid defensively and with the return of Sturridge there's hope we'll start to score more!

As for right now, I'd keep can at CB, Lucas and hendo have been very good infront of the back 4 and we have plenty of attacking players infront of them.

Agree3 Disagree0

Big money was spend on Lovren and I raised my concerns about him before we were linked to him. We cannot however, let him go so early and I think he will be here for at least another season.

Agree0 Disagree0

We will wind up w/ eggs on our faces if we let him leave and take a severe hit on his departure moneywise. I still think he should b given a chance because Can is not a CB and I worry, he will struggle vs better forwards hence, let the specialists (Toure and/or Lovren) play the position and unleash Can to the dogs in midfield, IMO.

Agree0 Disagree1

06 Feb 2015 12:25:51
Someone posted yesterday about watching recent Liverpool matches from behind the sofa such is the emotional wringer they seem to put us through

I thought I was the only one and it's better if you are actually there but I sometimes find unbearable watching on TV unless we are four nil up and they have had three people sent off. I spent most cup finals in the seventies hiding in the loo.

I think that's why I loved Rafa we could be boring but looked solid and he spared my nerves slightly. However being tethered to Brendan's runaway train last season aged me five years. Should I just man up! and have more faith or drink more before matches.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

06 Feb 2015 12:40:52
know exactly how you feel mate and the solution is either we man up or more realistically, the team start to kill games early like last year. and no better time to start then tomorrow. So 3:0 by half time please. 4:1 will do as well.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Feb 2015 10:58:19
Absolutely buzzing! Only Liverpool game I've ever been to (to date) was the 3-1 home friendly win against Sami Hyypias Bayer Leverkusen (Sterling scored his first ever senior goal with Carroll, Lucas and Sidney Sam getting the others).

However, my mate has a spare ticket to the Besiktas game at Anfield, slap bang in the middle of the Kop, and I just happen to have £200 of 21st birthday money to spend on trains, hotels, taxis and of course the ticket!

It will be my first competitive game and just my 3rd visit to Anfield (also been on a stadium tour). I just hope the lads give me a win!

Believable14 Unbelievable2

I thought you were a lot younger than 21 judging by some of your posts EMS. lol. Only joking fella enjoy the game and happy B'day mate!

It's really starting to p**s me off now the way that the Ed's show total disrespect to the manager of our club.I have no issue with them disagreeing with his tactics or team selection because football is all about opinions, but is there really any need to make disparaging personal comments which in my opinion detracts from the good work they normally do

Agree5 Disagree2

{Ed001's Note - whine whine whine. It annoys me when people whine about stuff like this, but I am not going to get so irate I throw my dummy out of my pram about it. You are obviously far too sensitive to be in the real world lad.}

So this is the owners way of coming up with the cash for next summers transfer. Very clever if you ask me.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

06 Feb 2015 10:18:09
After watching our last few matches it is really clear to me that Emre Can has everything that Steven Gerrard has lost over the last few years.
Energy, Effect on a game, speed of play, Directness, fear in opponents and even passion to some extent. The fact is I am really hoping Gerrard doesn't start against Everton, we are a much better side without him in it. Unfortunately he has gone on one season too many and is nowhere near the player he used to be.
Sentiment aside I support LFC not Steven Gerrard, he has been great, he will be forever up there with Kenny in supporters eyes, but we move on, we always move on and the time to move on is now, not in 4 months time.
Can is the man to fill his spot once we sort out our defence longer term.

Believable10 Unbelievable3

06 Feb 2015 12:51:24
I was hoping Ilori was the man to fill that right CB side of defense - especially with his pace. That would allow Can to move up.

But I fear that Ed002 may think that Ilori is so hacked-off with Liverpool that he may leave after the loan?

But Wisdom will be good too.

G

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd rather it was Ilori, a work mate of mine is a baggies fan and he isn't impressed with Wisdom. says he has poor concentration and easily turned.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Feb 2015 14:59:29
Ilori has had many injury problems and has struggled at his loan clubs. It just hasn't worked out for him and I wouldn't mind if he leaves this summer.

Eds, thought for a post tomorrow, Should Daniel Sturridge be played from the start. I really think and hope not but would be interested in what my fellow fans say, maybe a test of wanting the win more than protecting the player lol.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed001's Note - ok mate cheers.}

I personally think Sturridge will start from the outset. Then again, he hasn't yet had 45, and I wouldn't mind if Fabio started the match. His pressing helped win us that game at Bolton, and its very important to keep Everton's backline on their toes.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree1 Disagree0

Try the 'Fly in the loaf' on Hardman street, Tizer, mightn't be as packed as everywhere else.

Or there is a food section in 'Rigby's, away from the crowds, they'll have the game on. Both have great ale as well.

Most places will be heaving though, mate.

Agree1 Disagree0

A quiet pub on Saturday afternoon, on derby day, at least 6 hours after opening time (more for Wetherspoons!). good luck mate!

Try the Cellar Bar Hockenhall Street off Dale Street. its pretty much opposite Sir Thomas St. a small alley but a nice little bar (downstairs) with good TV's and decent priced drinks

That latest Brendan Rogers interview reading between the lines certainly seems to be the first time he's admitting he's going to be moving on very soon
Might be reading something out of nothing but most eds seem to think he's gone in the summer
Talking about when he leaves wanting to win some silverware this year and how much he's enjoyed the last two and a half years sounds like closing a chapter

Believable2 Unbelievable4

I got the same vibe as well

Agree2 Disagree0

06 Feb 2015 11:17:17
I know what you mean, Fowler. I'm sure we may be reading a little bit too much into it (its all a conspiracy, lol!) but knowing how Rodgers can let his mouth run away with him in interviews, I wouldn't be at all surprised if he does leave in the summer. We can only wait and see!

Agree0 Disagree0

Is he not speaking in that context because he is about to be in charge for his 100th game and it is a bit of a landmark, he kind of analyses his time in charge so far then gose on to say what he thinks they should be achieving going forward. seems kind of standard from a manager about to hit a "landmark"

Just a question.
Do any of our loaned out players have a future at the club?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Lloyd Jones as well.

Ed002, I have an interesting but perhaps challenging question for you.

Say a club with their own TV channel wanted to show their own games (live), could they hypothetically buy the rights to those games from the Premier League? Eg could Liverpool pay say £100m for the exclusive rights to show all of their own games and then re-coup that fee by charging fans say £20 a month for LFCtv?

Because I'd willingly pay anything up to about £25-30 a month for a channel that would show all of our league games with no exceptions. Are there rules currently in place preventing this, or are no teams brave enough to take the chance and risk not getting enough people to sign up to their channel?

If there are no rules against it, and if I owned a major club like Liverpool, Man U, Arsenal etc with a large fan base, I'd go all out to secure those rights and increase my revenue. If there are rules against this, are there any teams out there looking to get these rules abolished so they can show their own games and reap the financial rewards that come with it?

If you don't know the answer, fair enough. I was just thinking about this the other day and it got me wondering.

{Ed002's Note - No, the Premier League clubs agreed to collective bargaining for the sale of the games. Eventually, perhaps in 10 years time, a breakaway pan-European league will happen and perhaps the club could then could do something. It would also cost considerably more than £100M per year. Clubs will look to other income streams - perhaps some sort of streaming. If that is the case both Liverpool and Arsenal are well placed.}

Thanks for the reply Ed. Yeah £100m was a completely uneducated guess! Very interesting read though.

You have to remember also EMS that the other team would lose all their tv money from the game against us so while it's great for us to have our own rights our oppenents will have theirs to the tv company so we'd also have to compensate the other team no doubt

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed2 why are Liverpool and arsenal well placed? Thanks

{Ed002's Note - Because both sets of owners have people who specialise in such areas.}

So with all the praise BR is giving Gerrard in the press can we presume he is a guaranteed to start against Everton?
That being the case where do you guys think he will be played and who will be getting benched.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Lallana's place with Lucas and Henderson back in the middle.

Not that I expect anyone to read BR's mind or thoughts in the off season but based on some of the 'bigger' named players Alberto, ilori, Aspas - Does he feel any of them hae done enough to warrant another go in the team?

I do think he's integrated Markovic and Can into the team well and they are showing some real talent.

On a managerial note - Despite starting to veer over to the BR out brigade I do think he's doing better, the team seem more up for it and the results speak for themselves. I just wish he would stop wasting transfer funds. Ballo and Lovren especially this season, Alberto ilori and Aspas last season although i hope they come good

Top job though eds

Believable0 Unbelievable0

We all thought Lovren was a good and needed purchase at the time. In situations like that and with Balotelli, where the transfer was a no brainer, it just can't be avoided. Every club will 'waste' money at some point

New balance home kit for next season is so bland. White away is nice though.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

It doesn't look good at all, though I'm happy they kept the oldschool crest, I really don't like the new one, the old one looks classy and neat.

I love them. Nice, plain kit, a real sports shirt

Is this kit you guys are talking about confirmed? or just rumoured?

Hi eds. A bit off topic, but is it just my phone playing up or us there something wrong with the website. The post and back to the top tabs are following my navigation around the page, right in my eye line. Quite annoying.
Cheers.

{Ed033's Note - The POST and Back to the Top tabs stick on screen with your scrolling to stay in view for the site visitors benefit, not annoyance. I can make them static and see what people's reactions are.

I think they are better moving as we scroll so in my opinion leave well enough alone

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't see why the post should be static? its perfect the way it is.

Haven't posted in a while but still visit the site from time to time, and am dismayed that even after this huge pick up in form we've been having all I see on this site is people moaning. Is that all Liverpool fans are capable of any more?
We're second only to Southampton in the form tables I think. Weve only conceded 3 goals in out last 7 games. (1 in extra time, and 2 penalties). 4 clean sheets in 7 games? We never got that last season when we were supposedly doing so well. Brendan looks to have sorted the defence for the first time since he took over, and as we saw against Bolton, with Sturridge back and Coutinho on form we actually no longer have the cutting edge of a jelly, and can score under pressure!
This team is so young aswell: Can, Sakho, Moreno, Markovic, Henderson, Sterling, Coutinho, 7 of the starting 11 are under 25, Sturridge is 25. This team can grow into something special with the right additions.
So yes we need another firing striker, yes we should be replacing mingolet in the summer, yes brendan does have issues talking to the media, and yes we are in some debt which needs better managment, but there is still a lot to be optimistic about at the moment.
Its one thing to moan when you're losing, but to moan when the teams winning really makes me wonder about some 'fans' on here.

Why is it that being able to see that not everything is rosey, looking at longer term view and wanting something different, some change, no matter how it is phrased, is moaning? As you say there is a lot of good happening but there is also a lot happening that is bad for our club and if we keep ignoring it, it'll keep getting worse. You aren't a fan just because you sing when you're winning

Agree2 Disagree2

To be fair to Migs, yes most liverpool fans were not happy with him earlier in the season, But, he has def improved 100 per cent, looks a lot more focused, much better on crosses, is commanding his goal area, and getting more clean sheets,
I think we should be giving him all the credit that he deserves,
yes another keeper to come in to keep him on his toes, sell him, no way .

I really do admire Fabio Borini and is work ethic, for all he has been through he still gives 100% when he comes on and i think Mario should take a page from his book. I know they are different player but the mentality can be the same its a pity he doesn't get more chances. Respect Fab keep giving your all.

What exactly has Borini been through Y2K?

A manager taking him out of his home where he was excelling on the promise of giving him a real shot in the PL, never getting a real chance (partly through injury), being loaned out and excelling, coming back to have that same manager trash talking him and being unable, no matter how much better he plays and how much more he gives then a more recent addition, to get into the team.

Agree3 Disagree0

He was bought by BR who said he rates him highly yet gave him no chance to prove and himself even when he scores he still may not make the bench, but we've seen Mario give a run of games as well as other under performing players. Just saying he doesn't score as much as we'd all hope but he works extremely hard when he gets his rare chance. Don't know about you but hard work usually pays off in one way or another.
