Will we sign a big name striker? i.e Falcao, Higuain or Cavani?

No. Simple as that really.

Falcao- not a chance, Higuain- very, very tiny chance, Cavani- not a chance.

My opinion anyway.

Only if Suarez goes.

is Walcott not big name enough? he is soo underrated

What will we use for money in buying the big name player?

Dooh

Wasn't it at the Standard Chartered AGM (or something similar) that the question was raised as to why Suarez was still at the club as his inclusion was staining their name? Perhaps they should of looked in their own underpants.

Seems standard chartered have bigger things to worry about than luis Suarez right now.
They are being investigated for allegedly breaking US sanction laws against Iran and may have their US banking licence revoked.
Whoops.
It was only a couple of days ago I was reading the paper and there was the boss of standard boasting how his bank have escaped all the scandles because "they are too carefull for that"
250bn worth of alleged "money laundering" to Iranian institutions.
As Suarez would say it's a case of the pot calling the kettle "negredo"

Great post MIKEY mate.

Well if FSG have a bigger and better sponser lined up this could be their chance to off load SC. Also there is another sponser deal already lined up to be annouced. (Not shirt sponser)

Agger won't leave for man city he's got too much respect for the club and the fans. Barca is a different matter altogether let's be honest what top player wouldn't want to play for them. Not fact just my opinion(LFCseasonticketholder)

criag bellamy all but gone !

so now we can make a new list,

Out -
Kuyt
Maxi
Aurelio
Aquilani
Bellamy

In -
Borini

now i never was the greatest at maths but the numbers just aren't racking up for me, thats 5, whether aquilani featured last year or not, he was back at the club, so it's 5, replaced with 1,

this is a very strange transfer window so far, many going out, agger appears to be on his way, and the suarez rumours won't go away,

were a club that continue to refuse to pay whatever money a club wants, or what wages a player wants, we should have signed 4 players by now already, they should be

Siggurdson (refusal on wages)

Dempsey (refusing to meet fulhams 10 million, if we don't think he's worth that why are we bothering)

Joe allen, (we keep trying to pull swansea down on there price, we should have agreed a fee weeks ago)

Borini (obviously a done deal)

4 players wh owould make a difference to our squad, a 4 who would have replaced the numbers gone out, the 'people working behind the scenes' must be squitting in their pants at the moment with 3 weeks of a transfer window left and SO many outs, next season we will have no choice but to promote from the youth team at this rate, and the fact were looking at the loan market means the owners do not want to spend !

a message to our new owners,

if you want champions league football you are going to have to buy it !

newcastle, tottenham, chelsea, arsenal, man u, man city, ALL have better first teams and better squads than us, they will all finish higher than us again,

if they want a player like dempsey, who is fulhams best player and is the type of player who keeps fulham as a premier league team every year then we should expect to pay for him, 10 million isn't alot for a player who scored about 23 goals last season, he's 1 year older than agger and we are looking at 20 million for him, yet when you look at it, dempsey was a much better player than agger last year, so it's ok for us to demand such a fee but any other club can jog on,

someone please explain this to me, because i can't figure it out anymore,

You say your no good at maths, obviously no good at dates either. The transfer window closes at the end of the month

Last time we gave into transfer/wage demands we overpaid for hendo,Carroll, downing and others and paid Joe cole and aquilani huge wages...we don't have man city's money, we don't want to continue to overpay for players, would you rather we signed a few players faster or see the club go into debt?!

These were all players deemed surplus to requirements. If we had made all our signings and still had the above u would be complaining the squads too big. I also didn't remember the window closing or did I sleep through that.

Quigz23

Transfer window has ages to go.
Do we still need to spell it out for you?

MIKEY

The simple explanation is that we still have three weeks left of the window. Let's not get carried away eh?

You cant figure it out because you are an impatient fool that has always got his way as a kid. This is real life with real money. If you went shopping down the high street and a market was selling a top that was exactly the same as a top in the store for less you wouldnt buy it from the store because that would be stupid paying over the odds. Now times that by millions and years of wages and you will see it doesnt make sense to spend just for the sake of spending. We did that last year and we got mugged. Adam was Blackpools best player and look how he turned out. Just because Dempsey is good at Fulham doesnt actually mean he will be that good at us. Everything went through him there but at Liverpool he is one of 11 not the only player at Fulham. Yes I would like him but at his age I do not want to pay the stupid amount Fulham wants especially with what he has left on his contract.
Be patient and stop counting the outs and just be glad that we are getting reid of dead wood or high payers. If we get 20 million for Carroll that remarkable considering we probably couldnt get 5million for him last year. If we get 20m for Agger that is amazing and something we should accept. There are sooooo many more better defenders out there that wont cost as much and wont be injured as much as him. So why not sell at that price. We have capable youngsters coming in and we have to give them a chance. Coates will only get better and Sama looks a beast. A couple season loan for Sama will see him come out of his shell and possibly dominate at the back.

Slow Poke

Wow my ex didn't complain half as much as you do, mate.

PakiRed.

I'll explain it perfectly. you are ill informed and freaking out over nothing.
I keep hearing this but where is the evidence FSG don't want to spend. have people forgot about our 2 record signings and last summers window?
secondly who has left who has been a constant first team starter- only bellers from that list would be a loss but he hasn't left yet (although i concede it looks likely).
Now of course a player like suarez will be linked with huge teams (especially after what he has been through here) but they are just rumours. Agger will be a loss but that boy amorebieta looks good.
you then go on to say how 4 deals should be done now but Allen has been away at the games which causes complexities. Fulham are notoriously hard to do business with and Hoffenheim took the p*ss out of us with the fee so we backed down.
Now i'm just going to ignore the part about you complaining about liverpool not paying the inflated prices other clubs want, i'm sure somone else will get to that.
now please explain to me how spurs (currently without an established striker-apart from defoe if you give him that title) have a better first team than us. as well newcastle are on the brink, with the injury history of Ba and Cabaye so please don't. neother have as good a squad. now, would you prefer we sell agger for 10 million ?
derryred

We do think he is worth it but we wont let Fulham bully us as he only has a year left (BR isn't Kenny)

Out if your four potential signings only sigardson could of made a difference.

Why would we buy players BEFORE selling? It makes sense to me to create a position to fill first of all so we don't end up with extra players that can't be sold yet still draw wages. Imagine if we bought 5 players at the beginning of the window but couldn't find buyers for those you named?

cozinoz

We should not pay more than we think a player is worth just because the selling team ask for it , look at carroll , henderson , downing , adam wasn't this a lesson we have learned.

I'm old enough to remember when a manager was given at least 2 seasons before being judged, the thinking being that after 2 years he should have formed the team he wanted, it was then 'his' team rather than an inherited one.

So many people are not even waiting for the first league game to be played (never mind the 1st transfer window closing) before dismissing BR as a failure.

If you are in that camp, seriously have a think about what you are thinking, you are making a decision with no relevant information, and that's personic.

Fitzy

Hi Eds

Ye changed the last word in my post to 'personic'...I don't even know what it means?... I didn'y know you edited peoples posts without referencing that you did?

If Carroll and Agger do go I expect some REAL investment! This "FSG" spent 100M cestnut p*****s me off as net spend was nearer 35. Don't get me wrong spend needs to be responsible and we need to offload players wages from the bill but the harsh reality of modern footy dictates that having to sell to sign and looking to loan smacks of mid table footy. I'm reserving judgement until September but without any inside info I for one am worried about our ability to compete for top four.

Realistically speaking, if you're just looking at money, we can't compete with 3 of the likely top 4 at the moment. City and Chelsea obviously have huge backing from their insanely wealthy owners and ManU unfortunately simply makes a lot more money than we do.

So, we're going to have to figure out how to beat them in ways that aren't financially motivated- by being smarter on transfers than they are, playing better as a team, tactically out thinking them, etc. It's pretty unlikely that individual player to individual player ours will have a higher FIFA score or whatever, but it's the team that wins not the individuals and we can only all play 11 at a time.

This is why all the talk of 'we have to spend money! Get in big players!' is mind boggling to me. We're never, ever, ever going to be able to spend as much as City or Chelsea or probably even ManU, at least not anytime soon. On top of which- where would this money come from anyway? We've simply got to go about our business smarter.

You're reserving judgement, yet still go on a rant. The sheer stupidity on here truly boggles the mind.

When Torres left did he want to go ? And doyou think it's possible to sign Torres on loan ?

He handed in a transfer request so ye he wanted to go and i dont think he will come back to anfield as a liverpool player we really need to forget about torres and move on

I think he didn't want to play with Gerrard anymore, his reaction towards Gerrard changed noticeably on the pitch (not linking play, just general mood was off in my opinion) not that put the blame on Gerry.

My opinion, but I often think players are asked to hand in transfer requests so the owners don't look like the bad guys. Not sure how that works with loyalty bonuses and the like, but I wouldn't be shocked (if Agger goes) to see a transfer request put in by him.

Who cares? 50m thankyou very much

cozinoz

Torres would have stayed but lfc looked the other way

As Carrol claimed he was made to do when he left Newcastle to come to us . imagine our supporters reaction if torres had not been made to sign a transfer request FSG would of had the same bad publicity as H&G had

Standard Chartered, our shirt sponsor, have been charged with 'wire stripping'; masking over 60,000 wire transfers to and from Iran over a ten year period. If found guilty they could effectively be closed down. Keep an eye on the business news as this could jeopardise a substantial income stream

It's unlikely to shut down their whole business - at worst their US unit but they have operations all over the world. More likely they'll have to cough up a fat fine.

06 Aug 2012 22:17:55
I have also looked at one or two loan deals from abroad.

"There are some quality players in that market that I have enquired about and spoken to the European managers on.

rule out Tevez, Dzeko, A Johnson, Adebayor....etc from the EPL.

Agger for 20m+?
Yes please.
We did fine before agger and we will be fine without him.
Also it gives Kelly and Coates a golden opportunity to try and break into the first team. We will get a replacement in for agger but if he takes a while to settle then the youngsters could get their chance.

MIKEY

I agree, 20 mil for someone with his injury record would be great business.

I'd prefer to go for Dejan Lovren mate IF Agger goes. At 7m-8m he's easily affordable (although hypothetically speaking if a bid was made, what would the eventual total offer rise to?)

I'm gonna propose a controversial idea-

We could not replace Spearing with anyone better.

Now calm down everyone, let me explain-

1. Spearing is currently our only covering ball winning midfielder. He is not a first team starter if Lucas, Gerrard, Henderson (Allen?) are fit.

2. Whatever he lacks in technical ability, he is very energetic & committed.

3. He seems willing to accept that he may not be the first choice, but I can't imagine him lazing about in training & moaning (or just sitting around to pick up a cheque)

I think it would be highly doubtful that we would be able to sign someone who is as good as him and would understand that he is only a squad player but still give 100% effort every time he is asked to.

He's not great by any standards, but I think he is a valuable squad player given his attitude and commitment to the team.

So stop having a go at him!

Cheers,
ForzaRed

Well said mate, leave jay alone.
FowlerisGod

Good point, well made. Never looked at it like that.
Redgreco

ForzaRed,

Your idea is not controversial, it is rather sentimental. I have never had a go at Spearing, but like you said yourself he is not great. If Spearing were at another club we wouldn't consider buying him. However, he is a Liverpool lad and that's why you want to keep him. I respect loyalty; however, football is about results. Spearing had a golden opportunity last year. I am not saying that he should have reached Lucas' level; but at the very least he should have eased our minds in case Lucas or Gerard goes down for a game or two. If a player can't challenge anyone for a starting position either he is not good enough or it is his club that isn't.

Canadian Fan

Agree. Always have agreed.
AnfieldUSA

But he wants to play and having him sit on the bench will make the manager feel he has to play at some point and putting him in will be bad for us. Besides its wrong to hold someone back at his age. He needs to be playing every day and needs to join a team that will play him. I would prefere if we have a younger covering player who will be 15 times better. Lucas will not be dropped unless rested for small games and this is a good chance to play Coady or someone else.

Slowpoke

No ones having a go it's just technically he's inferior and has very bad luck, everytime he gives the ball away near our goal the opposition come close to score or even score. That doesn't happen to any of the others I've seen if I'm hounest. He should play in the championship for a bit. He's a hard worker and loves the club but that's not what we need right now.

He's not a valuable squad player because when he does play he almost always screws up. I love his passion , but he's just not good enough. The idea is to free up space to give younger players like suso/shelvey etc. more games.

People have a go at him - because he is just not good enough, not even to be a squad player.
You don't keep a below average player just because he's a local lad, and can run around like a headless chicken, who also has a major problem realising that Liverpool play in red, and you should try and give the ball to someone in the same colour shirt.
Love the comment " whatever he lacks in technical ability ", there alone is the reason we should let him go.
There are far better players plaing in local leagues better than Spearing.

John B

Thank you very much. I love it when logical fans post things, it shows that we aren't alll deluded itiots.
derryred

I agree, but I still think we'll need Allen. I'd only use Spearing when we really need him. injuries, n stuff.

Kaizer

Jay has had enough chances , he is too slow and when players like frank lampard play against him he makes them look good, when a player from another club see's that he is going to play against them i am sure it makes their day as they know how average he is.

Haha John B you're a plank, "There are far better players plaing in local leagues better than Spearing".

We should send BR down the park on a Sunday morning and pick up a replacement.

I agree with the op we need squad players like spearing to erm make up a squad. Unless we're winning the league year in year out players egos get bruised if there sitting on the bench. Not jays.
CQ

I keep harping on about how Lucas was exactly the same as jay in his first full season giving the ball away in bad areas giving free kicks away in bad areas passing not up to scratch yet he went on to improve and last season everyone saying how much we missed lucas . Jay is held with very high reguards by all the coaches and managers who have been at Liverpool FC over the period Jay been at the club which is over ten years by the way and let me tell you that you dont stay at LFC for that long if you dont have something let the lad develop like lucas has if we all behaved like some of you so called reds fans we would sell anyone who had a bad game . Jay will come good as Steve Highway said when he was leaving LFC it was a joy to come into work every morning with players like Jay Spearing !!!

If Agger does go. Would be a realistic and ideal target. Plus hes from uraguay so would be good team chemistry. But I would rather keep agger

Coates replaced him

Rumour has it Rodgers found an old 7 inch single of Pass and Move in the club shop and realised that his new philosophy has been played at Anfield for years. All this talk of a new start with new players and a new way of playing must be unsettling. It's all very well hoping for new signings but they are gonna have to gel and we've got a tough start to the season. Losing experienced players like Agger would put us at a disadvantage whoever we buy as a replacement.

Rodgers has always credited pass and move football to liverpool.

Pass and move had very little tactical discipline, what rodgers is trying to do has a lot everything is about phases of play and movement

It won us numerous league titles uefa cups fa cups league cups and european cups and it never had tactical discipline
OMG what a plank ill take pass and move anyday if it produces results like I have highlighted ha ha were do they get these people from ?

Evening ed's...I had a rant last night at the pessimists on this site and just wanted to add some thought that don't seem to have been mentioned alot.

Ok, so currently we have not made great strides in the transfer Market this summer (however I suspect it may be a busy few weeks ahead). And we have let a few go with rumours of others to follow. This has led to lots of negativity. However, nobody appears to be mentioning the youth setup. Liverpool have invested heavily over the last 10 years in the academy and could it not be at all plausible that it is the intention of the board and the manager to begin to seek a return on this investment. People go crazy on here when hearing sterling linked with spurs yet in the next breath call for a big name signing in his position that would result in him spending a further few seasons in the reserves. Some Peoples thought process confuses me sometimes! It is more than plausible that If developed correctly, the likes of sterling, Flanagan, suso, wisdom etc. Can be top top players and in my opinion the likes of Kelly and Robinson can form part of Our back line for years to come. This along with the fact that FSG have always been open in their belief that a young squad with potential sell on value is the way forward, as well as a manager like Rodgers who I believe is perfect to bring through and develop young players makes me think that we are about to see plenty of young players get the opportunity to impress. If this is the case it may be another season falling short of champions league qualification, but longterm I feel this may be the way forward. Good luck to all at the club and cheers for a great site ed's.

Agree that we wont finish in top four next season but would expect us to be much closer than last season. Anybody expecting anything different is deluded when you consider the quality of the squads who finished top 5 last season. It will be another 12 months before we are ready to compete for top 4 when BR will have had 3 windows to mould the squad to his liking as well as getting the players playing his system with confidence. PATIENCE!!

Couldn't agree more mate, and I have that feeling as well that we possibly won't see CL football until 2014. As much as I'd love to watch us playing again back on the big stage with europe's elite, I'd much rather have strength, depth and a good solid level of stability in the squad for future seasons [including some of the youngsters cementing regular places in the first team as you've already mentioned] in order to have a good crack at the title and CL football.

Maybe it was the era I was born in, but I find it a lot more satisfying and rewarding in working towards success and achieving it even if it means taking that little extra bit of time to achieve it. Having owners pumping a whackload of money into the team and getting to the top in a shorter time period may result in a much higher chance of success, but there's a degree of shallowness that comes with it. Just look at chelsea and city; we were never that kind of Club to begin with.

Cuchulainn's Hounds.

I agree, and with rumours of Agger leaving everyone is on here wanting a big name replacement, despite Coates and Kelly being at the club, do people expect these guys to warm the bench forever ? Why would we sign the best young centre half in South America and after a season for him to adjust not give him his chance if Agger leaves..

Fitzy

I would agree to this post a 1000 times if possible
swissred

Agreed with what everyone above has said.

What drives me absolutely crazy about those who think the owners should just dump money into the transfer market is they never talk about or provide any insight as to where this money should come from?? Is there a secret stash buried inside Anfield somewhere?

Agreed, Fitzy. If this were to happen, I'd happily give Coates a shot until January and see how it goes. If it's not working out Carragher is still available and while he's not what he used to be he isn't exactly incompetent either.

Guess I just think that he's 22 now (or close to, can't remember for sure), an established international and he's been here a few years. If he's not ready, then we should consider moving him on or out on loan or something.

RDL

Everyone thinks Shankly walked in and started winning trophys well he didnt it took him several years to put together his ( Yes His ) pass and move into place he used the tallent that was wasting away in the reserves likes of hunt smith cally ect his first two big signings who no one new were st john and yeats and the rest is history as the first poster stated we have invested millions in youth and these kids are starting to come to a period when they get the opportunity to become first team players because if they do not then we should shut down the academy and spend the money on transfers of gready money hunting players from around the world that dont no what wearing a Liverpool Football Crest on their chest means unlike our youth who have been schooled in our history

The money should come from the owners

I do agree with a lot of posts saying not to sell Agger. I agree him and Skrtle are great partnership and I do not want to lose either to be honest.

Like a lot of people have said I would much rather see us keep the nucleus of the team I.E. Reina, Johnson, Agger, Skrlte, Enrique, Gerrard, Suarez.

We should be only offloading the likes of Spearing, Eccleston, Carroll, Adam, Jones and Doni and Downing. These sales (put towards whatever is in the kitty), should be sufficient for incoming players to the squad.

These sales could raise us roughly 35-40 million which is a huge amount coupled with what the manager has already.
Surely this could sign us at least 4 quality players, plus we are looking at two loan deals so nominal fees required there.

Selling our top players makes us weaker. Our defence was probably our high point last year and I don't see any reason in changing any of them, let alone sell one of them to a domestic rival.

Agger himself is happy at Liverpool and doesn't want to leave. This makes a change from the star players we've sadly lost over the last 18 months who have willingly got out when the opportunity arose. I won't list them as its demoralising typing it, when you recall the first 11 we possessed (in particular the central midfield trio) at one time.

Some people will point to his injury list but over the last 12-18 months he has improved significantly. He is also about to come into his prime, so why spend so much time, patience, money and effort ensuring he became the player he is, and then just sell him to a rival.

We are supposed to be building a foundation for future greatness and our defence a cornerstone to that. In. Y opinion we only require 3-4 quality players to make a push for a top four finish this season. Losing Agger and maybe others puts us that bit further down the ladder, which we seem to be slipping down already.

I don't want to sound all doom and gloom, but I really don't see the logic in this. We need quality players coming in not going out, and especially not ones who actually love the club and who want to be there.

So Please sell the players not good enough for the club and sign players of the Ramirez/Gaitan quality to play alongside him.

Jonesred

Every player has his price. 20m plus for a 27 year old with a bad history with injuries is good money. Take it and move on.

The guy has 5 years grantee'd at the top/best level of football in him at 27. you have no argument.

And that 5 years will mean so much to us. I believe defenders gets better with age, although not to a certain extend, 26-29 is usually the peak age, or around there. we need Agger and Skrtel.

Kaizr

Lets sell Gerard he is 30 years old has he still got it ? Ye he has and so has agger he is hitting his prime so why give him to man city for how ever much how can we rebuild if we the reds fans are saying get rid of our best players especialy as they are reaching their peak false economy people would shankly paisley fagan dalglish of sold him I am sure the answer would be NO CHANCE CITY he is staying put

If he signs on loan i'll allow you to kick me in the nutts!

Hey edds, heard a rumour that Agger is set to join Barcelona not city. Barcelona are ready to offer player plus cash deal. Tello+Afellay(maybe loan)+7 million what do you think? i would be happy with that. I cant believe that Afellay is the "major" loan deal btw.

cheers mates!

Lol 7 million plus Tello as well as Afellay on loan

u mean like £13m plus Tello as well as Afellay on loan. which we could use to buy Walcott.

That would be our attacking worries sorted. suarez, walcott, afellay, tello, borini, downing.

£21m from carroll, bellamy and kuyt

lovren £8.5m, allen £12.5m

{Ed002's Note - It is clearly the management who want Carroll moved on, but the others will be driven by offers being made and the desires of the players.}

Ed002

Can I assume from your reply to a previous that the possible sale of Agger is because he has indicated that he would like to leave if a suitable offer is received?

As much as I like Agger, and I think he is the classiest defender we had since Hansen, I do not want any unhappy players at the club disrupting what Rodgers is trying to build.

Who says he is unhappy were did you hear or read that crap fella ?

We need to all calm down! ( eh eh ) sorry but we really are turning into the biggest bunch of moaners! Liverpool fc needs us to be strong! Needs us to stick together and get behind the team and the manager! How can people get on Boroni and allens backs already? Ones just signed the other hasn't even signed yet? ....morons we are Liverpool we stand together! 3-0 Down at half time and we still kept going but they were true fans! Wait til the transfer window to shut! Before you judge! Give BR a chance? How is moaning gona help?? .....

If BR does sell Agger and gets £20ml then it ties in with Bob Paisley saying that you let your older players lose their legs on someone else's grass

Fitzy

Except Agger is about to enter his prime... It needs to be a massive bid for us to consider selling as the footballing reasons to keep him far outweigh the financial reasons to sell for me

RedSG

27 hardly old mate

27 not old but is the next contract not about to be agreed ? That will take him into his thirties, and with his injury record I guess if £20ml is on the table it has to be looked at. That's all I'm saying

Fitzy

He's not old, but he is injury prone.

Gerard injury list worst than aggers you all screamed like babies when he was going and he was in his prime so owuld you have been happy to have let his leggs rome around stanford bridge ? nope you wouldnt so why let agger at city ?

There's been so many rumours (many just paper talk) and mostly about players leaving LFC that it's becoming worrying. Agger leaving is a depressing thought as he is the silkiest central defender in England and as more rubbish is posted/printed you get tempted to make comments and criticise the manager and FSG...this time of the year is the worst...as a fan you'd love to be associated with big names and if we get Gaston Ramirez and a right winger with pace we should be ok. Carroll MUST stay at whatever cost. Suarez, Borini and Carroll up front would be formidable. But fellow fans don't criticise just yet, let us see who leaves, if anyone and who comes in and only judge BR after 10 games and not before...

do you think ganso could be the star loan signing {Ed049's Note - highly unlikely}

06 Aug 2012 20:41:00
Sell to buy

as normal we will relase about 8 and bring in 4 then halfway through the season , say we have no strength or depth

just like when Alonso , Keane , Pennent , Hypia , Finnan, etc all went and we brought in a Injured player and a few others had no depth

we are run by Americans who are trying to run it as a buisness , they said when took over they would base it on the Arsenal Model and would also never have took over if fairplay rules were not on the horizon

Selling agger is very odd , as he suits how the team will hopefully play ,

anyway at least we still have the club , let's get behind them and support them

K.O.B

The chap is always injured my word great defender but the premier legue to fast and physical let him off and buy two good players from the funds

Kean was cr*p, Hyppia virtually retired, and so was finnan, who went a few years earlier, person post.

According to Caught Offside the Gaston Ramirez Interest is still on three main contenders Inter Liverpool and Tottenham . Dont really trust them what do as the eds think
Thanks
Irish folk {Ed049's Note - I don't trust them either}

So Spurs over us again then

CaughtOffside is basically just a list of pieces wrote by 12 year olds on the premise they'll get a free football shirt.

JP.

That rules us out then spurs or inter

Spurs have the same games as us. We are more financially powered, bigger fan base, two fellow uruaguans, he will DEFIN start over here at Liverpool. If we want him, we will get him.

I'm constant follower of this site, but all the negativity and pure s***e from people that want rodgers sacked and won't even give him one prem league game is really getting to me. Agger isn't gone neither is Carroll or Bellamy, when they're gone b1tch then

I agree but the club has got to come out and put the rumours to bed! That should stop the trolls with their bitching!

The club doesn't have to come out to put rumours to bed. There would be 8 press conferences a day if that happened. Not the clubs fault the media make s*** up and people like you believe it

If agger goes for 20 million we already have replacements in Kelly and Coates spend the money in the midfield and up front players like suseata muinian Walcott Allen tello sahin the team i would love to c line up for the west brom game would be reina Johnson skrtel cotes Enrique gerrard Lucas Allen suseata borini Suarez subs Kelly sterling suso sahin Walcott tello I wish
Jeff

Then who would be back up for Kelly and Coates? We would still need to replace agger/skrtle.
As much as I like Kelly and Coates they are still going to be back up this season behind agger/skrtle or their replacements.
I doubt they are going to be proper first teamers for 2-3 years yet.

MIKEY

Borini and suseata over walcott? u wish
heff

I really do not understand peoples fascination with Walcott. Another classic example of an over rated English player. Has the physical attributes but lacks onus and thinks he's better than he is. Careful what you wish for.

does anybody know what will happen with our sponorship with standard chartered if they are found guilty of illegal proceedings and corruption...why always us ......cant anything run smooth for goodness sake !

I would suggest that they will receive a large fine and then get on with things. Funny how they were concerned about a damaged reputation by the Suarez incident, maybe they should be tidy their own backyard first.

with the Agger money who would you buy? £20m to spend

I'd get Matias Suarez £11.5m and Dejan Lovren £8.5m (Agger's copy)

and with Carroll money £18m. I'd get Walcott £15m and £3m toward getting Kaka in on loan which would be around £7m

and with the Bellamy 2m, Kuyt 1.5m, spearing 3m and adam 6m; £12.5m get Joe Allen

and as a bonus get Tello for £6m

Reina
Johnson, Skrtel, Lovren, Enrique
Lucas
Gerrard, Kaka
Walcott, Matias, Luis

doni; kelly; coates; henderson, allen, downing/tello, borini

Agent fees. Paying players off as in loyalty bonus. Sell on percentage etc.

I am afraid it isn't that simple.

Matias suarez won't be available for the next three months due to an injury so we might go for someonelse

I would probably play Luis Suarez in the the starting 11......you ain't even got him on the bench :(

Suarez needs surgery and will be out for 3-4 months. This is why CSKA pulled out today.

Well you would be over complicating things.

I for one am very excitied after Macca's last post, 4 players + Allen and a loan 'star'.
I for one hope the players include Miralles and Amorbeita two players I rate very highly and I believe would suit the English game without taking too much time to settle as a lot of foreign imports do.
I do think the team would benefit from losing some of the deadwood and bringing in a couple of flair players as we only seem to have one at the moment and he tends to divide opinion.
Would not be suprised to see Suarez and Carroll leave as well as Agger this window as I think the decision to cash in on Luis was made last year and incoming bids FSG will find hard to turn down, but that is not nessecarilly a bad thing, he is not irreplaceable and I trust BR to spend the cash wisely. That said I don't thik he should be sold for anything under 35mil. Would of course perfer him to stay myself but the controversy last season may have already sealed his fate...
On a similar vein I am sure i'm not alone in thinking that both us and MU should put the matter to bed now, it's long since it happened and I personally think Fergie looks very immature bringing it up whenever he can, This is the man that did not sell Cantona after kicking a fan in the face but says other clubs should sell players for verbal abuse?

Either way exciting times are ahead for our club, can't wait to see who these signings will be and I expect a much more pacey, attacking and exciting style to be employed in 2 weeks time!

See you on the Terraces!

be gutted if Agger goes, but if you look at his injury record over the last 4 years it is not very good. so if we get 20 million plus it could turn out to be a good piece of business. lets stop having a go at BR, Macca and the Ed's, that's all i seem to hear on here lately. let's wait till the seasons over before we have our say as fans.

I think this going to be the last time I post/visit this site for a long time. Today there has been more than usual of the ill-informed, pathetic non-sensical post's with the author feet so far from reality it might they may as well be on Mars with 'curiosity.'

The whole point of this 'family', this 'bastion of invincibility' of which a great man once spoke of is that we stick together through thick and thin. Growing up this is what drew me to support LFC. Not the trophies, not the players, the idea behind our club. The fact that I could stand next to a person, of any race, of any culture,in a pub or a stand, and have nothing in common with him, but as soon as the ball was in the net, hug that son of a b1tch like he was my best friend. This is what I was under the impression LFC was all about. Sharing trials and tribulations with other members of our family.
But there is poison in the waters of Anfield road and it is self sabotage. It is Not FSG that is weakening, our great club, not BR, but these so called "supporters." I posted the other day asking for some patience, some common sense instead of this vitriol that gets associated with the club. In response another teams fan replied-

"Lol common sense and logic from pool fans lmao thats a new one, total lack off and delusional is what we are used to,so pleaese dont change it makes giving you lot stick so easy and so much fun"

Don't you see? You are making a joke of yourselves, of us and our club.
Upset about your plastic mates rubbing Man cities millions in your face? You not even got the gall to admit how plastic you are and change your colours. FSG deserve more, The club deserves more, BR deserves more.

To the regular posters and real fans I wont be needing to read your posts anymore, soon I will see you in the pubs, the stands, singing your hearts out, representing our club in the appropriate way.
To the regular posters, I know there is a good chance many of you don't read this, you all deserve a shout for the glimmers of hope you provide for our fan base. To the ed's, what a stand up job you are all doing and it is a cliche now, but I really have no idea how you guys do this. What strong individuals you must be. Thanks again for your hard work and your input making this site worth visiting. Il be back on the first day of the season, hopefully to laugh in the face of these 'fans. ' Until then I will get off my condescending soap box for awhile ;)

Well

Fantastic post Davey,

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

When hicks and gillet were our owners I'm sure you were supporting them and saying we should have patience. Mate wake up this is not 70/80. This is 2012 fans are tired of mediocrity. I feel sorry for our young generation fans who many of them haven't seen success. We have been pathettic for more the 22 years mate how much patience you want from fans

Couldn't agree more ED049. Keep your chin up Daveyliver, keep the trolls at bay. I'm also getting a bit tired of the nonsense I'm reading on here. But here's the thing: I love our club. I love our real fans, and despite what the r***** minority try and taint, we have the best fans in the world. We need more fans like you to keep posting, otherwise the trolls win. I am embarrassed at some of the drivel posted on here, but for every abusive post that Ed'chelsea'002 gets, we need true fans like you to post just so as ED 002 knows we're not all persons.

Top post DaveyLiver, don't you go anywhere my friend I need to read more posts like that

Chris in Tamworth

I totally disagree, look what happened by blindly following parry, moores, hicks and gilet! If you cant see we are going backwards with the lack of investment when everyone around us is buying you dont understand football. we should be buying players to add to the squad , its worrying that we may sell agger to release funds. we should be building a team around our best players.

What a post davey mate. Best post this site have ever seen.

Davey boy you firmly understand what YNWA means and brings me joy that there are true fans out there that can post quality stuff like this my friend. I was upset the other day at the Sh1t getting posted and the crap the Eds put up with. But its School holidays and Kids have to much time on the hands. We will chat on the first day of the session on really get a laugh at all the keyboard warriors and fake fans. Peace out YNWA

I am disgusted by my beloved club lately trying to force out Agger. If we have no funds then why wont You sell Adam, Spearing and Downing? And if Suarez leaves we are seriously in trouble

Its just speculation, no one knows the truth, plus no one is bigger than the club

Why does everyone think Suarez will be sold? Have I missed something because I don't think he has ever given an indication that he wants to leave has he?

I'd say he's given more than an indication. His words may sound good but his actions speak louder.

Someone has to want to buy them first, mate.

06 Aug 2012 18:39:46
Ppl who r stating be positive else u r not true fans a few questions to them.
Other than brendan rodgers appointment and the various sponsorship deals we are signings wat has been the positives this transfer window?
12 days left for the start of the premier league, still no signs of us buying players in the areas we were weak last season. Two first team players Dirk kuyt and Maxi (goal scoring threats) gone along with a backup LB aurelio and aquilani. How many goal-scoring threats do v have?
Many more like bellamy, agger, skrtel, suarez all being linked out of our club. Don't the likes of Agger and Skrtel deserve a new contract? Or if we want them sold y wait so late in the window?
We have the toughest beginning to the season thus it is more important for us to buy players quick so that they can gel in quick.
Teams like Man City, Man United and Chelsea are guaranteed top three irrespective of whether we like it or not. Arsenal and spurs have currently better squad than ours.
I also love the club as much as u all do. Only thing is i am a little worried we might just be stuck playing europa league for a few more years.
Would love to know how many of u truly believe we can finish top 4 and y so?

The forum chief whipps will be out now saying support the club or else support Chelsea or City.

However its only by shinning a light into corners that vested interests want to remain dark can LFC be saved from the abyss its heading towards.

A) The window is still open, so until it closes we don't know exactly who will or won't be in red next season.
B) Borini is a very young and dare I say it 'exciting' addition to the squad.
C) Kuyt and Maxi have moved on. Both good servants to the club, but neither were getting any younger, they weren't automatic starters, and they weren't on the lowest of wages.

Will we finish top 4? With the current squad as of today, I think it unlikely. I'm hoping that by the time the window closes my answer will be different, so we'll have to wait and see...

Where chelsea not guarenteed top 4 last year? look what happened. have patience mate
M-H

Yeah, because asking supporters to support the club is just a terrible idea.

06 Aug 2012 23:09:53
could it be that the coming season is a season of transition? Maybe the management is not rushing as they prefer to buy the right players instead of going in shopping spree bringing some players not exactly matching the needs of the manager or some guys being over priced?

We don't know at what stage they are regarding the targets. At least from the info we get from Macca we can hope they are now at an advance stage.
they might as well want to give a chance to the youngsters.

06 Aug 2012 18:36:10
No one has mentioned that we already have a replacement for Agger if he goes. Coates has the ability to be a Liverpool great, rather spend any transfer fee on a top quality winger/striker. What do you think Eds.?

Coates is suspect and not trusted he will not come good anytime in the near future and certainly won't be agger

We should be buying a top-quality winger/striker anyway without having to sell our top centre half to help finance the deal. We will go absolutely nowhere with a sell-to-buy policy.

Thats harsh man he has looked good when played hes only a kid aswell 22 now maybe?

Coates will probably be the best defender in the world one day...but by then we would have sold him...we buy young promising players but don't have the patience to keep them

06 Aug 2012 19:17:27
Can we ask for adam johnson and kolarov to make weight for agger? 06 Aug 2012 18:04:23
OK, I know it's Twitter and not to be trusted - but thought I'd raise the subject anyway

A couple of weeks ago Jack Sullivan (West Ham co-owner David Sullivan's son) tweeted "Dad is working on the biggest signing in the history of the club. TWICE as big as anything as the club have done before!"

It was generally accepted by all that he was talking about Carroll.

Then last week he tweeted "big signing, we have agreed terms with the selling club, but the player does not want to come at this time. We are working on that"

Today he's tweeted: "sadly the main player we wanted has stayed with the club he's at. Despite trying very hard and agreeing terms with the selling club"

So it seems Carroll is digging his heels in.

Personally I'm glad and hope he stays. But Eds do you think he's intent on staying at Liverpool, or only interested in a move back to Newcastle?

Joe {Ed049's Note - He'll either move to Newcastle or stay at Liverpool.}

Carroll's gonna have to realise that he's not really wanted by Rodgers, and that Liverpool are not gonna get shafted by Newcastle again and accept a bid of £13/14 Million. This means that he is gonna be starting on the bench at best for a lengthy period of time. With this in mind I can see him having to reconsider West Hams offer, probably in the January transfer window. Once he accepts that Newcastle and Liverpool are miles apart in valuation he will have a choice to make. I fear this won't be for a while though and we'll be stuck with him and unable to buy a replacement until he leaves. Take the hint Andy lad.

David

Hold on... didn't Agger say he would not play for another Premiership team?

He'll go to barca

Money talks and Bulls**t walks

If the club accepts a bid for him from a Champions League club he will definately leave LFC .

EdWood

Agger personaly want to sty in Liverpool. and if he leave for any club that will be barca. but in transfer some time player wish not fil. and some time club wish not. I don't like to see him any other EPL team.

06 Aug 2012 19:14:59
Brendan Rodgers on a sell to buy policy been told by FSG to sell who he can to raise funds to buy players. FSG say BR has full control BUT he doesn't hes in contact everyday with John Henry and Tom Werner to get instructions. FSG will make it look like Rodgers wanted to keep certain players but Rodgers is well aware of who he can keep and who he has to sell. bargain basement players we are after the 10m-15m bracket. Henry wants Rodgers to use the youth who they will then sell on for HUGE transfer fee's this is a genuine post watch as all the stars are slowly sold and linked with other clubs and were left with deadwood before FSG decide to sell! oh btw where is luis suarez new deal? yep u got it probably wont get it as they will sell him too FSG want a return on there investment with interest! now thats a fact!

gutted LFC fan mugged off by americans again!

Your FSG who confirmed this drivel to you is?........

Red G

Oh be quiet, when the transfer window closes we will see

Of course it's a genuine post. Troll

YEP those boyz from uncle sam have stitched us up nicely once again

I'll add to that by asking, Why does everyone think FSG have gone for 2nd rate managers since thier purchase of the club (No disrespect to Hodgson, KK and Rodgers).

A) Lower wages to pay.
B) They'll do as instructed by NESV, with no talk-back, and are "easy" made scapegoats, when (not if) we fail to succeed.

All the while still making a profit from our club.

It's a business to them, and we don't have to be successful in any fashion for them to profit, esppecially if they run our club "Right"!

1. Get high earners off the wage bill (buying only players who are worth less, "average players")

2. Employ cheap managers who won't make a fuss about transfers and transfer policy.

Ran out of things to write, but I know there is alot more than meets the eye with JWH and co.

Alarm bells are ringing, and it's only a matter of time before others start listening.

Other than the "conspiracy", I hope we have a good season under BR.

The only part of this I can agree with is 'FSG want a return on there investment'.

Is there a business owner who doesn't want a return on their investment?

Hate to break it to you, but the club is nowhere near earning the owners any sort of a profit. This is precisely the problem.

Smells of xenophobia to me

So the FSG group are going to run the club in to the ground after laying out 200 million plus and then sell at a loss you should run for parliment you think the same as the people running our country

06 Aug 2012 18:38:46
I cant believe what some peope have to say about our new manager when a ball has hardly been kicked.
I have been impressed with everything that Rodgers has had to say so far. He has a 3 year contract and it is time to back a manager instead of constantly slateing them. He is young, but hungry to succeed and given the chance could accomplish something special. I don't expect them to pull up any trees until after xmas as the team get used to the way he wants them to play and he gets the right players for the job. I for one am prepared to give him and the owners time to achieve their aims. Champions league qualification at the end of 2013/14 season is a realistic aim and one that is achievable.
Anything beyond that for me is a bonus.

Great post whoever you are.Tommy Irish Red.

Ed are we looking to sell agger or is it that agger wants to leave thanks dan {Ed049's Note - It looks as if we're looking to offload him}

06 Aug 2012 18:15:55
hi edds just readin about amorebeita that u think he may replace agger i was just wondering in your mind is he a good player and a good replacement because i have not seen him play cheers

mike {Ed049's Note - I haven't either but from what I've heard he is a good player and would fit in nicely.}

No. Fernando Amorebieta is bit of a hot head. Last season alone, he picked up 18 yellow cards, which lead to 2 reds! Besides, he slow and his decision making and positioning is very poor. At 27, I don't see him improving or getting any quicker.

AG

06 Aug 2012 19:00:36
It just gets better, the BBC is reporting that Standard Chartered is under investigation for illegal trading with Iran for 10 years, and FSG have only fairly recently agreed sponsorship deals with them, hillarious.

I remember someone suggesting that SCB were angry about the Suarez affair, well, this sitation where SCB could be stripped of their banking licence in the US puts that in the shade doesn't it.........

The do most of their business in asia anyway

06 Aug 2012 18:54:30
if we sell Agger we should get Tello and Affelay in a swap deal from Barca, or Adam Johnsen and Lescott IF we decide to sell to City..

Barca said that Tello isnt wanted, and Affelay should be available.

This player will not be in the first sqaud for their teams and we should try to get them in a swap deal if Agger dont want to stay.... i mean it should be a very very big offer if we decide to sell Agger for money, at least 25-28 million!!

Grow up 18 mill absolutely top for Agger his injury record is appalling, i like him but for anything over 15 mill he would be off for me.
if city were going to spend 25-28 mill on a defender it would be badstuber, hummels or ramos

Well, well, well. Standard Chartered gave out a statement saying they were 'concerned' over the Suarez/Evra affair. Should LFC give out a statement saying we are 'concerned' about them hiding £160 billion, for the Iranians?

Once a 'banker' always a 'banker'

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

I wouldn't have none of it Blair mate, holding £160bn of Iran's cash and giving Liverpool a mere £20m a season. Perhaps you should ask Iran to sponsor you?

I don't think it would go down to well, with our American owners Disney mate.

there are rumours...about certain top players leaving..........certain ok players coming in.......

but nothing is definite at all at the moment...just a load of rumours......

but 1 thing that is CRYSTAL CLEAR................is that the liverpool squad now is NO better than last year...and we came 8th........

bottomline red!

Ha you need another CRYSTAL then , just want to mention Lucas , he will be like a 20 million signing , joe allen , also pepe hendo kelly Luis will all have a better season , so I reckon that we will defo improve on last season .

Agger will not leave for Man City, or any other Premier League team, let me make that clear.

He must be off to Barca then, Luis mate. If Barca offered 10-15 mill + Tello and Affellay on loan. It would be something I would seriously consider.

I find it interesting that people seem determined to keep together a squad that drastically either underperformed or possibly just isn't good enough after the last couple of rather poor seasons.

If we sell anyone from the squad, I'm far less concerned about them leaving then who is brought in to replace them and, more importantly, if the results on the pitch improve.

What concerns me isn't that we're rumored to be linked with BR's whole Swansea team but that (if there is any truth to them, which is entirely debatable to be fair) this would mean that basically after a month or so of looking at our squad play and in training BR has determined that frankly several of Swansea's players (and other he knows personally, like Borini) would be an improvement over what we already have. For me, it's a bit disconcerting to think that our team is actually that poor given the cost and wage bill involved, but I suppose given our results perhaps that shouldn't be too surprising.

Interesting times ahead, should be an exciting end to the window!

Lets all be honest, we will not sign 4 or 5 swansea players, its all rubbish.
From what we can gather it will be Allen

First time poster here but i've been a reader for about a year or so. The comments from some so called "fans" are getting so depressing now. If you think FSG can afford to go out and splurge cash here, there and everywhere you are not a real fan. The fact is the owners are trying to run the club sensibly and ensure we can be successful and profitable over the long-term. For all the people suggesting we should sign players for huge transfer fees and massive wages, try asking a Malaga fan if they'd take FSG over their owners.

Walt White.

Malaga squad without carzola and Randon still better then liverpool

Joe Allen to meet laudrup tomorrow to sort his future.... Source Wales online..
From the interview it doesn't seem like the club would stand in allens way!

Bellers will be a Cardiff city player before season starts 100%
Family is already back home in cardiff

Lfc obviously actively seeking a replacement for agger, that's why he didn't travel and he will be sold as soon as replacement is found.... Gut feeling

Bellers family has never left cardiff, that goes for all the clubs he has played for afaik

With the news this evening that Standard Chartered face hundreds of millions in fines along with other sanctions because of laundering £160BN of many out of Iran in direct breach of UN sanctions and being labelled a 'rogue bank' by US government oficials, will the FSG board be considering removing them from the front of our shirts as sponsors? Not exactly the image we want is it.

If they do i guess the home shirts for my daughter and i will become dish cloths !

Only hundreds of millions in fines for £160 billion, we should have asked for more money

Especially given their stance during the Suarez affair, they have lost the moral high ground on any future events.

{Ed022's Note - There is a very long overdue Player Profile now uploaded on Joe Allen of Swansea. As we all know, he looks very Liverpool bound at the moment, and I (as do all of the other Eds) expect the deal to be wrapped up very soon indeed. I personally believe it'll be sorted by the end of the week, but it is very difficult to judge these things. Anyway, this profile was done by Ed052 and he gives a very, very good analysis of Allen, including his positives and negatives, and it's a good read for any fan to be perfectly honest. I'd like to say that I also summarise the latest with regards to this transfer saga including the gentlemans agreement with Rodgers and Swansea, as well as the likely fee and add ons expected. I hope you all get chance to come on over and check out the profile, as its everything you'd need to know about Allen, there's even a section of a very short summary of Allen if you're lazy haha! Anyway - www.player-profiles.co.uk - cheers all.}

I have been on this site day in and out. It is very interesting to note that there are very good LFC fans here. All the confusion and negative reports seems to come from NON LFC fans particularly the MANCHESTER fans who are very concerned with a new look Liverpool. They know how all our past great managers were appointed (from zero to Heroes). They also know how their greatest ever manager (Feggie) was appointed. They also know the poor form their team was in. To sum it, Let Brendan build a new generation of players. I for one look at the current youth set up, Sterling et al and convinced that we have bigger future. Do not worry about those that have already made it. Let's build a team from youths. Rogers is the man to do it. Do not worry if Agger leaves. I will be worried if one of our senior players in Reina, Gerrard, Lucas and Suarez were to leave today.

So, you don't regard the D.Agger man as a senior player? He's 2 years older than Lucas and Suarez, has similar number of international caps as Suarez, and several more than Lucas.......

We have dropped from being near utds level 2008-09 season to being 8th below everton newcastle spurs, im worried the only thing i keep saying is that we had real bad luck hitting the post, lucas getting injured ,suarez and gerrard out for a good few games downing imo will be better this year.Tommy Irish Red,

Alonso, Mascherano, Torres. They all had the right idea ey?! Get out before it got really bad. This is the lowest I have ever felt as a fan. We are never going to compete for the top four while we have these owners. They haven't backed our new manager at all. Where's the transfer funds? They clearly think this squad is good enough for top four with Rodgers at the helm and they won't invest heavily again until we're in the Champions League. The trouble is this wont happen until they invest!! When January went by with no additions when we were screaming for cover for Lucas and in desperate need of a goalscorer that said it all. They have made their investment until we get into top four. It's over, we may as well accept it's about beating Everton now. Don't be fooled by the spending last summer either, they recouped almost all of that through wages and transfers. Same this summer. I'm petrified by these owners now.

ConcernedRed.

Why are you complaining before the transfer window has closed? Stfu he has bought Borini already and there are still a couple weeks left so shut your trap and just be patient before your stupidity hurts you. Rodgers has said they'll be signings so just be patient.

Alonso left before FSG came in and so did Mascherano I think.
How anyone can blame our owners for the mess they inherited absolutely baffles me.
They signed a player for 35 Million Pounds. He may or may not come good for us but is that FSG's fault.... By their own admission they know nothing about football and are learning "on the job" and so they took advice from Kenny, Steve Clarke and Commolli about who to buy....
It went T*ts up and so they sacked everyone and have brought in their own people including Rodgers to lead the club to glory... They may have to sack the sponsor now because we may as well be sponsored by ayatollah airways.com.
We may as well sack Luis while were at it..... Now I know why he has long teeth.... coz he cant keep his cakehole shut without screwing it up.... He is the mate we all have who constantly said the wrong thing when you were about to cop off!
I have always felt that I was intrinsically linked with liverpool football club in some way and now I know its true coz the club is starting to mirror my life....
Its a f***ing mess!
jonnybarnes89-90
p.s Starting to lose control...... I reckon Downing signing a new 5 yr contract tomorrow might well tip me over the edge! My falling down moment is nigh....

^ Let's get this straight FSG did not pay Newcastle 35mil for Andy Carroll! Chelsea did!

06 Aug 2012 17:21:26
selling club.... suarez, agger, carroll all gone by next week end.

two weeks to find replacements which we will pay over the odds for.

lets hope the youth coming through are as good we think they are, eh?

not really sure whats going on at the club to be honest , but it doesnt look good in terms of performance and success on the pitch.

still at least with these owners we wont end up in administration. we will be just playing half decent footbal with mediocre players sitting around 8th place for the forseeable future.

Get a grip of yourself, you crying get. I'm sick of all this negativity on here.

I've heard we've excepted 18 million bid from city for danny agger I will try and find out more

Nick from birmingham

Yea try to find out if it has been accepted

Never sell to a prem team again unless they offer Torres money. City got Lescott for £22m Agger must be worth £25m at least. £18m is just too low. sell to Barca for £20m+ and to city for £22m+ because no way are we going to get punk'd like this. us paying £20m for Downing and only getting £18m for one of the top 8 CB's currently in the world.

06 Aug 2012 17:20:31
Can't believe we're thinking of selling Agger over some of the other dead wood we've got. One player in - Borini (who we paid over the odds for) and Kuyt, Maxi, Bellemy out for peanuts and the club looking to offload Agger and Carroll to fund other transfers.
FSG better pull their fingers out and bring in some quality, otherwise they'll be mutiny if we let good players leave without improving the squad.

Not impressed with FSG - Don't see what value they bring to the table - they agree large sponsorship deals (none of which seems to make it into the trasfer kitty) and are now stripping the club of its assets.

FSG: compete at the top level my backside. Another bunch of mercenaries like the last lot.

I dislike when our players are called 'dead wood' immensely, but precisely how valuable do you think players you label as 'dead wood' are on the transfer market?

The 'value' FSG bring to the table is they bought the club, largely paying off all previous debts in the process, and they continue to fund the clubs significant financial losses. Also, as you yourself noted, they've brought in several large sponsorship deals to try and help correct the situation.

Perhaps once things are in the black and we're not consistently losing money, we'll actually see transfers in that meet your lofty 'non-dead wood' standards, but in the meantime the owners have shown no signs of 'stripping the club of its assets' so perhaps you could maybe wait until the end of the transfer window and see what happens?

RDL

FSG, a bunch of mercenaries? Without them we would have gone into administration, have no doubt about that. We've all got to be patient and let them get on with it. All will be good, i'm convinced of it.

Gutting to hear all the speculation of Liverpool players leaving. Maybe it's BR priority to let the younger ranks play so we don't lose them...

06 Aug 2012 17:14:01
i never ever thought that i would see liverpool sell one of there best players to raise funds to buy 3 average players. Selling Agger is like chelsea selling cole or manchester united selling evra or vidic. Exactly who do Liverpool employ to make stupid decisions. We are in the same league now as villa, everton and sunderland..I have said from the begining that Rodgers was not the man to replace kk, I really hope he does do well and prove me wrong but really i just cannot see this happening. hughes .

Like Manchester United selling Evra or Vidic? The fact that Evra is now awful and Vidic missed most of last season goes to show how little you must know about football.

Agger is an injusry prone player. Signed in 2006 and only played 170 games. Get rid.

Xabi Alonso sold, who brought in? Short memory you have there...

'i never ever thought that i would see liverpool sell one of there best players to raise funds to buy 3 average players'

When we sold Alonso within 3 weeks we'd bought Aquilani and Kyriakos with some of the money. Can't possible be as bad as that surely !!

Torres, Mascherano, Xabi, etc, etc. were all sold. This is nothing new and clubs do it all the time. Can't wait to see what happens if Suarez goes- think this site might just remove itself from the universe due to all of the negativity if that happens. I for one am content to see who comes in and how the team performs before moaning about it.

06 Aug 2012 17:13:11
I think this season may not be the best season(players and manager need to get to know each other) but the season after will be

the only reason this wasn't the case with

Rafa: because two star players were injured the entire time and third(xabi alonso) was sold

Hodgson: because he is proper s*** and only cares for defensive football

Dalglish: was old fashioned for thinking 4-4-2 was the best formation on wich we were always undermanned on the midfield

Rodgers: 3 midfielders, fresh attacking play with passing seems to have been his style at swansea, dares to take a gamble on young players with potential

I would at least give him two full seasons to look at the players and bring in the necessary players to compete for CL football

sorry for the long post

06 Aug 2012 17:10:55
Ed002, I have red most of what you have to say. The owners clearly want Champions League qualification. I think you mentioned a couple of days back that it would not take 'years' to build a squad capable of achieving this. Keeping this in mind, do you think it's practical of LFC to, by the looks of things, let go 'key' members of the squad, and then expect youngsters, Sterling, Morgan or Pacheco to fill in and still meet the target?

As of now, Kuyt, Maxi, Aurelio and Aquilani are the senior first team players let gone of. Aquilani has never been part of a 'squad' at LFC, while Aurelio has been injury prone since he signed back on '06. But Kuyt and Maxi were important squad member, if not starters, last year. Say Cole and Sterling replaces them, surely anybody with half a footballing brain will know that the rest of the squad needs to be much 'stronger' for the lack of a better word.

This would leave Suarez, Carroll, Borini and Downing along with Pacheco as the other 'forwards'. If as you say, Suarez and Carroll were to leave, that would leave only Stewart Downing as the only senior forward at the club!

The owners and the management should know this and hence would you expect, 6 out of 7 of the forward line to be replaced and still expect to be in the mix of things?

And, that's not the end of things, we are also going to sell Agger, another senior player.

So, that is Carroll, Suarez, Agger to go along with Kuyt and Maxi. As you point out, LFC are aware of the interest in our players, but surely, they should have seen this coming? Why leave to so late in the window to get them in?

I understand you may not be able to give me all of the answers and I am sorry if I confused you, but I am genuinely curious to know whether the management would allow upto 7 first team senior squad players to leave all in one window!

Thanks Ed002

AG

{Ed002's Note - It will always take a little time to gel but players at this level should get their act together pretty quickly. If players leave and there is no cover then expect replacements.}

06 Aug 2012 17:08:20
I'm guessing i'm one of the few that would take £20m for Agger.

Sure, he's a good CB but last year was his least injured season and a new injury is just around the corner.

Maybe even Godin for less, he's just as good as Agger.

KT!

Couldnt agree more, a world class player who cant stay fit, 1 season he has been fit more than injured just like robin van persie i would cash in on him but still would be a shame to see him go

KOPCASTLE

Agger is class until h breaks a fingernail or cuts his hair then he is out for 6 weeks.
Take the money and invest in a creative attacking midfielder.
We have Lucas back in font of the defense to help the new boys.

We are attempting to sign two players on loan. These are Ibrahim Affelay of Barcelona and Jose Callejon of Real Madrid. There is a good chance one of these will be in a red shirt by 31st August if not both.

Regarding Dempsey. We have not made a bid for the player. We have expressed our interest and the player is aware we have enquired. However, we will only bid later on this month to avoid getting into lengthy negotiations with Fulham and essentially force them to sell on the cheap.

Joe Allen is nearly done. There are a few obstacles to over come such as agreeing personal terms but he will be a Liverpool player soon.

Daniel Agger is aware of the interest from City. However, he is only interested in moving to Barcelona if they step up their pursuit of him. This does not mean he won't leave to City if they make a suitable bid. It really is in the hands of the club. Rodgers would like to keep him but any offers over 20m are going to be taken into serious consideration. Agger himself only wants to leave if it is to Barcelona.

There has been a bid put in for Ricardo Quaresma. I know nothing other than a bid has been submitted and we are waiting for a response at present. He is perceived as a cheaper alternative to Gaitan.

Tello was enquired about for a loan deal but Barcelona are only interested in a full sale if he is to leave.

There has been no bid for Gaston Ramirez and don't expect us to either. We have looked at him as an option but Bologna's asking price far surpasses our valuation and that's the end of that. They won't budge and it's unlikely, not impossible, but unlikely we will return with a bid of any kind.

Luis Suarez will be sold if any offer surpassing 35m comes our way. Expect clubs to show their hand in the next week or so. There is a very real chance that he could go. The interested clubs are aware that if they want him they need to make a move quickly so a replacement can be lined up. Higuain is the man we want if he goes and any funds we receive for Suarez will be thrown straight into buying Higuain from Real Madrid.

Carroll will only move if an offer of 20m comes our way. But, even then he may not leave. The owners aren't to fond of the idea of letting a player go 15m less than they paid for him.

Players we are interested in are:-

Higuain (If Suarez Leaves)
Afellay
Callejon
Quaresma
Dempsey
Allen

I do not know who will replace Agger is he leaves. If I get any further info I will let you know.

Cheers.

Jack in Ormskirk.

06 Aug 2012 16:59:11
This has certainly (so far) been the worst transfer window I can remember, the squad is looking very thin when it comes to a team who are going to be competing on all fronts league, FA cup, league cup and Europa league, we have so far let 4 players go who would play in the first team, kuyt maxi Aurelio and Aquilani and replaced them with borini,

Over the next 3 weeks we will find out how next season will go by the time the window shuts, talk of agger going as well seems awful, can you really complete a squad with enough numbers to compete on all fronts in 3 weeks? And get the type if quality we need to climb back up a table with 7 better teams ahead of us right now, this is lfc the club which will not bow to demands on transfer fee's, which is why we currently selling far more than were bringing in, Dempsey would be an lfc player now if we'd pay 10 million but we won't, yet we want 20 million for agger who's a year younger yet Dempsey was a far far better player than agger last season,

Scary times boys and girls, Brendan Rodgers must be wondering what he has let himself in for,

Is it the end of august yet? no

06 Aug 2012 16:53:45
Brendan Rodgers two loan signing targets are Affelay and Callejon, with Affelay the most likely out of the two, conred {Ed002's Note - I would consider neither a "star" even in the broadest sense.}

06 Aug 2012 16:42:05
Transfer news from a reliable source:
Dempsey deal is effectively dead - Fulham are demanding £11m for the player, however, the board will not allow a 'cash' deal in excess of £7.5m (and, bearing in mind his age and the transfer policy, it is only this high due to his nationality) - Last offer on the table was £5m plus Spearing, however, Fulham came back saying they want Shelvey instead, which is a no-go - Apparently, Rogers rates Shelvey VERY highly and is not willing to let him go.

Allen is on - Fee of £12.5m with add ons (total £15m) - This will be complete by the end of this week.

Agger, Suarez and Skrtel are going no-where, but still open for offers for Carroll (no less than £20m 'cash'), Spearing, Bellamy and Pacheco.

If Carroll goes another striker will be signed, but no names known I am afraid, plus the loan signing will be Ozil if, and only if, Modric goes to Madrid.

Vargas is more likely than Ramariz

Banter/Rant. Ok, people calling Agger or Skrtel to be sold, how about we sell neither. In those two we have a center back pairing to match any club in the world, (in my opinion, and football is a game of opinion). The back 5 pick's itself in Reina, Johnson, Agger, Skrtel and Enrique and we have have some decent back-up in Kelly, Carragher, Coates, Flano and Robinson. I see Kelly as a future Liverpool captain so by no means wanna piss him off. Next, I love Kenny for the legend he is but the amount of cash he spunked on dross is unbelievable. Why are we talking about selling Agger when we would be better off trying to flog anyone of the players Kenny signed. I'm gonna stick by Henderson, he will come good, he aint England under 21 captain for nothing. Charlie Adam is shocking, bring back Igor Biscan, least he was funny, was Kenny feeling a little too patriotic while splashing the cash. Downing is alright, AndyC, although I like the guy, will never justify that price-tag. Joe Cole, Jay Spearing, not good enough, get them gone! I would much prefer to persevere with the middle group of Gerrard, Lucas, Shelvey, and Henderson, plus the rumour of Joe Allen? On to the front, looks like Brendan will have the group of Suarez, Carroll and Borini to play about with, really think Suarez could be on fire this season. So on to my transfer emphasis, width and speed! Name the last decent wingers we had? Barnes, McManaman......... Riera, Babbel? How do ManUtd end up with Ronaldo, Nani, Ashley Young, Valencia and we've been playing Kuyt wide right for 4 years. (love Kuyt but you get my point yeah?). Now is the time to bring in Sterling but I appreciate it has to be gentle and not every Saturday afternoon. 2 world class wingers could transform us. Unfortunately i'm not a highly paid football manager and I don't know the answer. Rumours suggest, Walcott, i'm quite a fan but for some reason not quite clicking with me for the LFC starting 11. Would prefer a punt on Johnson, hungrier and determined! Queresma might be alright at the right price. Afellay would be a quality addition also. The reason I wrote this rant is because I read people quoteing names like Elia, and Dos Santos.... are you for real? Elia is a headless chicken and Dos Santos hasn't got in the Spurs team for 3 years yet people seem excited at the mention of their name. I know we are not ManCity, Utd or Chavs but we can do better than that. I am excited at the arrival of Brendan and will support massively, though if he buys more than one Swansea player I will be disappointed. Come on Brendan, You're at Liverpool now!!

Agree the wings have been a problem area for years now the last consistent pair were Barnes and houghton think 4-3-3 might suit us better with a possible front 3 of Sinclair (if he signs) Saurez & borini with Lucas gerrard Allen (Henderson) to control the midfield Bob paisley played a similar system to great effect at times....... Y.n.w.a paisley's genius

I would be happy with dos santos from tottenham. He is brilliant for his country and has not been given a proper run at spurs in my opinion.
He came from barca and they are no mugs at producing talent.... He was jettisoned because barca had an even better prospect... Messi...
That turned out well!
Seriously though if I could get dos santos for 3 million it could be a bargain... ben arfa has showed that you can get really good players if you are willing to gamble on "hothead youngsters".

CITY TO RETURN FOR AGGER
Man City are ready to offer in the region of 20 mil for Agger eh.
Undoubted class and when fit one of my favourite players........when fit. Agger has played an average of 17 league games a season and a return of just over a goal a season.
I'm guessing £20 mil well spent could buy a player to substantially better these stats.
I think City may offer a part ex. Their wage bill must be astronomic.
I like Agger but 10 mil plus Johnson sounds good. Spend 15 on ,Allen. Net spend 5 mil for 2 very good and different players.
P.S. Hope he stays plays every game and scores half a dozen goals!

borini was meant to be big exciting signing..... so these big loan signing aint gna be as big as all tha fans are speculating.

1) Borini wasn't the exciting signing Rodgers spoke of.
2) Macca told us of a star loan signing, not BR.

Very true but if borini scores 25 goals this season he will be a big exiting signing

I am not saying that I think Borini was the 'exciting' player 'who the fans will love' however it is possible that he is an exciting player, I simply havent seen enough of him to say one way or the other, and maybe BR believes that the Liverpool fans 'will' love, once he has played for us for a while. If this is the case, it is quite easy to see how the wording could be misinterpreted to assume that their was already love there.

'Ed002'

Thanks, mate. Illuminating.
I guess very few would dispute that Suarez's been a more than detrimentality controversial character who's (along with Dalglish) visited more than his fair share of embarassment on this club.

I admire the lad to bits for his skill, desire and spirit. Words can't describe his merit. That said, though, I'd think it wise and beneficial to all parties that an acceptable offer be considered were it to be made.

Suarez himself is very much open to such a proposition, as evidenced by the sit-down with his rep and Pavel in Spain as you've pointed out.
What's been said in the media, take with a pinch.

I've no idea what we'd exactly get for both Carroll and Luis, but I'm sure it would be enough to reinvest in Gaston Ramirez and Adrian Lopez as their replacements (would it, ed?).

Morgan am not convinced he'd be ready, perhaps Maxi game, yes.
Dempsey (at reasonable fee) to replace Kuyt would more than do a gud job.

We can't splash big, and considering our less than overwhelming lure, we wouldn't have done too bad with a forward line of Lopez, Ramirez, Dempsey and Borini. There's pace, creativity and goals there.

What would be realistic here and good "wheeler-dealing is:
OUT IN
-Agger - Amorebieata
-Suarez - Ramirez
-Carroll- Adrian Lopez
-Kuyt - Dempsey

I think that's as realistic as it gets. So ed, you think we'd rake in enough from Carroll and Suarez to buy Lopez and Gaston (not that it will ever happen)?

Baie dankie
Ray Burmeister

lets just sell agger for 20m to man city and buy swansea's williams for 7m! so exciting
then lets sell reina for 25m to some premier league cause he has become too old and buy swansea's michael vorm for 15m.
after this deals are done sell skrtel to napoli, bellamy to cardiff, suarez to juventus and carroll back to newcastle for a sum total of 65m added to earlier sales. with this money we can buy the exceptional talents of neil taylor, danny graham, scott sinclair and nathan dyer for sum 35m or so.
Exciting tyms ahead!
(Sigh lost all faith in the owners)

So you've lost faith in the owners because of media speculation?

What is with some people?

KT!

Actually, Vorm is a really good keeper. He is a great shot-stopper.

He hasn't bought anyone from Swansea yet! I bet your equally wrapped up in Princess Di stuff... It's also on the newspaper covers! Oh so you just selectively believe newspaper rubbish on the front but all on the back hey?

06 Aug 2012 16:26:21
ssn say Liverpool will consider selling dagger........ why sell our best defender to one of our rivals......... Rodgers is an person imo

Too many bads things said here about Kenny (not in this post I know but there is relevance)

For those that wanted a new mgr I said beware you might get one, we did, his name is rogers and he's a yes man

AnCo

Listen players only have short careers and be honest who would you rather play for a team going nowere { liverpool } or a team that is probally dominate this league and great chance of europe for years {man city }, be honest who would you rather play for. Geoff

I know we've been rubbish this season...oh yeah a premier league ball has not been kicked yet! Jesus are you fellas for real?

It's never concerned me so far but it is now. I no it's ssn but is this what we are waiting for selling agger so we have funds? Has this been the delay I've defended fsg but now seriously thinking they want player sales to generate what we spend so they never have to use there own money, we've sold aqualani kuyt and maxi now talk of Bellamy and agger going and no sign of incomings. If this is fsg strategy to sell a big name player every season to fund other transfers it's not on. I think it was defo Carroll who they wanted to sell to raise funds now looks like it will have to be agger it's a poor approach to transfers if this is the case a worried fan not slagging Liverpool just a worried observation of what's been happening

Shanklys statue {Ed002's Note - So when I said about it you were not bothered. When Macca tells you about it you are not bothedred. But now it is on Sky Sports News you are suddenly concerned. You should watch less television.}

No ed not because it's Ssn I've heard what everyone has said over time. It's just the latest source to come out with it.

Shanklys statue {Ed002's Note - Maybe they got it from here?}

FSG's 'own money' is being used daily to finance the running of the club. Do people think the club (and the owners) make a ton of money or something? The money to fund incoming players has to come from somewhere. Or we could just keep the squad we had as that worked swimmingly last season (and the one before).

All the big sponsorship deals and alike also help with the running of the club on a daily basis pal, so yes their own money that comes into the club use that money Not selling top players to buy others.

06 Aug 2012 16:22:30
Ed 2 thanks for the info mate. My question to you then is would it be so bad to change our squad when we were only good enough for eighth last season?

Mighty reds {Ed002's Note - There will alsways be changes and if things are not working out then it is like an apple. You cut out and throw away teh bits you don't want. There was much change last year and it looks like much change this year. I suspect the reserves and academy will be working over time for the future. It must be uncomfortable for the owners.}}

So Ed002, it's the management that is making the decision to move on the likes of Agger, Carroll, Bellamy and possibly Suarez? I thought from what you said, Bellamy and Suarez my want to/will leave?

AG {Ed002's Note - It is clearly the management who want Carroll moved on, but the others will be driven by offers being made and the desires of the players.}

06 Aug 2012 16:23:15
there has been no offical bid for agger. more paper rubbish. so lets not worry about that till there is.

would like liverpool to put in a bid for rvp. 20 mill for him. i say yes. let carroll go back to newcastle for 25mill.

06 Aug 2012 16:07:44
question for all readers and posters.

who would you rather sell agger or Skrtel?

replies please with one reason.

ace

Skrtel because Agger is far superior.

Tom.

IF one has to go then Agger - why? we can get much more for him and not a good fitness record

Puzzled

I will sell agger I love him but for me he is injury prone he cant give you 30 games or so per season. so why not cash up on him and get Kjaer for half the price
Red316

Skrtel because he would be easier to replace than Agger would because Agger is a better ball player.

JW

Agger, citing his ridiculous injury record

Id rather sell skrtel, agger is a much better player than he is, skrtel too many mistakes

Get rid of skrtel, keep agger

The way it's going the both of them will be gone

Would prefer to sell Reina and Carroll and use that money for further additions to the squad- unfortunately I don't think we'd get big enough offers for either to make much of a difference in the squad.

Outside of Suarez (who could quite possibly also leave), we don't have a lot of players who are in demand and worth a substantial amount unfortunately.

Maybe we'll get lucky and Chelsea will decide to pay another blindingly large fee for a poorly performing player, but I suppose that's unlikely. Thinking of all the things we could have done with that £50M makes me ill.

Scouts are still under no guidance at LFC as I have been in contact with one every month since before and after the sacking of Comolli. Since DC parted ways with us, the scouts have been on the LFC payroll but have not been approached to work, or to even meet the new Manager. These are not lies, and it is likely that it will not be posted. I'm not even the messenger, these are facts.

Ah, left with no name. I'm going to pump for Benitez as the poster due to the "fact" statement at the end.

What the heck is going on with ramirez??? I know a offer has been made, well?? {Ed002's Note - Wolfsburg's offer was rejected by the player as he is not keen to move to Germany.}

Aggers a goner,....your a selling club now,........tristen

Eds, why do you allow kids posts like this which will obviously wind people up as it shows huge disrespect for the most successful team in England and loved all over the world? {Ed002's Note - It is harmless banter - just ignore it if you find it upsetting.}

Man Utd in 460m debt and it keeps going up We have very very little debt possibly none great finances unlike yous

Well it would be silly if we just bought. Welcome to the world of business.
Red sheep.

Because selling a player who is great, but injured a fair bit of the time for £20m is a bad bit of business? Your flawless logic astounds me

Is this a case of you much you owe or don't owe

I think its all about trophies

Actually I support everton ,and my point is welcome to the real world, you have to sell to buy,it's not easy but it's possible to still compete if you don't believe me have a glance at last seasons league table,........tristen

He played more games than Steven gerrard last season so by your logic you would sell stevie g,......."tristen

Since when does a Tristen know anything about anything other than horses, egg shaped ball games and pimms at 5.00pm? Go and tickle your butler or something this is mans talk Tristen...

An everton fan called tristan? my hoop

Yes tristen, but you can't even buy if you sell.
AnfieldUSA

Good old bitter blue, wanna know how your clubs doing wait 5 minutes and a bitter blue will let you know... With a cheerful spin too! They would rather we were dragged to bottom of the league with them than be top four with us (well be back!)

Tristen you really are a silly old goose! Pip pip! & off to bag a couple of chavs! For the lodge wall!

06 Aug 2012 15:50:12
Why are ssn saying we want to sell Agger? He is world class, i don't see us getting a defender like him anytime soon. Would we actually push him there or is he wanting out? Thank You.

If he asks to go, 25 to 30 mill plus. if they think hes that good they should pay the right odds

06 Aug 2012 15:45:31
Another set of American's with no money it seems why do we need to sell the likes of Agger and Carroll to buy its a joke, seems though the Glazers get a bad name don't see them selling Rooney as well as Ronaldo at that time to have to buy

Yeah, instead the Glazers just add it to the clubs debt, then have an IPO ostensibly to help pay down the debt, but instead just pocket a good chunk of the cash made from the offering. That's way better than what FSG are doing! Who needs interest-free loans from the owners when they could simply heap the debt on the clubs shoulders? Get with it FSG! {Ed002's Note - You don't understand the IPO At all.}

They got 80 million for ronaldo.some how i dont think we ll get for 1 of them

06 Aug 2012 15:42:06
It has'nt really been a good couple of weeks to be a Liverpool supporter. Awful in pre-season, Awful against Gomel. Rodgers saying he wanted Maxi to stay then a few hours later he was gone. Last week he said Agger would stay and now Macca said Agger will more than likely be off. Rodgers also said suarez would be staying. We all know Juventus want him and he got an awful time from the fans at Old Trafford, Wembley and The Millenium Stadium. He could be off.

Also we've missed out a few targets. Sigurdsson, Caulker, Kalou, Diame, De Jong, Elm etc. Anyone see Elm's interview yesterday? He said it was between CSKA Moscow and Liverpool and he chose them. Thats shocking.

Also, Regarding our own signings it hasnt been great. Chelsea United Arsenal and Spurs have all improved. Newcastle and City im sure will make quality signings aswell. We were promised an exciting player to come in and Rodgers wastes 11m on Fabio Borini. Why is been linked with all his former players? Borini, Allen, Williams, Taylor... Its not good enough.

Im starting to think Rodgers is too small time. He wont be around too long in my opinion. 8-10 league games and he could be sacked. Bring back Rafa. Im sick of constantly getting worse the past 4-5 seasons. DubDunne YNWA

Re: Elm and CSKA Moscow...I know we'll never know, but I wonder what his wages are there!? Hmmmm....

Pretty cheeky signing off a post like that with YNWA...

Alan Partridge

Who says we were after Diame, De Jong, Elm, Kalou etc? Just because the papers say we are it doesn't mean it's the truth. So what if that's what Elm said? He's overrated anyway and is obviously gonna big CSKA up considering it's his NEW CLUB. We had a change of manager and a change of footballing philosophy in that time. Also, whats your issue with Borini? The lad has loads of talent and deserves the chance to shine. Bring back Rafa? Honestly some of you 'fans' on here really make me laugh. If you're that miserable supporting our club then I've heard Chelsea need some supporters. Go and wave a plastic flag for them, we don't need such negativity at such an important transient period for the club. What is needed is positivity and belief in the foundations that are currently being laid down. I believe BR knows what he's doing, and as both him and the owners have said it's a work in progress, you can't expect results overnight, which is ironic considering our one competitive result so far was a win.

JP.

Its not a case of Rodgers being to small, its a case of liverpool not being the club they once was.

I'm getting tired of people like you moaning all the time about our new manager and calling Rafa back. Rafa waisted millions on average players, the reason why we got in to financial problems in the first place because the previous owners did not have a structured business model and Rafa squandered money in the transfer market time and again. Yes he brought us world class players such as Xabi, Torres and Reina but for every one player that was class he had another 5 crap players. Rafa was lucky in his first season, he had a five year plan to win the league and did not come up with the goods.
You slag off the team for pre season performances, you obviously did not watch the games or you would have been aware that the squad was made of fringe players that done well and impressed against decent teams. None of our big players were available untill the game against Gomel, which was basically their first pre season game.
You mention the players we supposidly missed out on, we never had interest in them and they are average at best.BR needs time to build his own team just like Rafa and Houlier had the chance too. You end your slagging with "YNWA" which makes me laugh because my friend, it means you'll never walk alone, meaning we support our team and our manager always!

Rasmus elm sounds bitter to me he is young but statements like that have a habit of returning to you.........

What is Elm going to say?

He is introduced to the press at his new club CSKA and he says - " I was choosing between CSKA and Liverpool and really I wanted to go to Liverpool but they sacked the manager who was interested in me and appointed someone else so to be honest guys I thought I may as well come to CSKA and see how things go"

Thomas

Bring back Rafa, we need a Rafalution, etc, etc, etc.

Nobody in their right mind would employ Rafa, that why he is sitting on the Wirral twiddling his thumbs. Yet we get the same old people wanting him back at Liverpool.

Don't look back on the people in the past, there is a reason they didn't make it to your future.

Eds could you help me with a few Questions :
1. Do you reckon Allen deal could be done this week ?
2. also are roma closing in on Dempsey or do we still have a decent chance of getting him ?
3. Any news on the possible loan ? Heard its afellay.
4. you reckon Agger would probably join Barca. But do see them paying 20 million pounds ? I surely don't but I would rather sell to Barca for a few millions less than sell to Mancity.
5. Also what is with Walcott. I heard he is wanting close to 100k in wages surely we won't pay that.
And Finally Please TELL ME WE WILL SELL JOE ' THE MESSI' COLE. {Ed002's Note - All of these have been dealt with - please use the search function.}

Nice to see Ryan McLaughlin getting a call up to the Northern Ireland squad at only 17. I'm amazed at the fact he could make his international debut before his first-team debut. Well done nonetheless.

An Dun Red

Down didnt do too well either they were awful mate.

It's great to see him get the call up. Good young player and will make a few starts soon enough with that N.Ireland side. As for an Dun my man, not good. Cmon the rebels for the double, Donegal and Kilkenny will take beating though

Ever think of having a GAA page so people have somewhere to chat about this stuff? It could be quite popular.

Imagine if we got 22 mil for agger and we used that money no sign one of borrusia Dortmunds CB both hummels and subotic look like promising young defenders

Eastern red

Liverpool will take a offer £20m.

Please wake up now dortmund r bundesliga winners and r playing in champions league. they wll leave dat for us

"Promising"?

I'd say Hummels is pretty much there, and Subotic not far behind.

Hummels is certainly better than Agger (IMO) and Subotic plays a similar game to Skrtel

No team in there right mind would pay 22mil for a 27 year old tattoo artist and the thought of subotic or hummels switching the UCL or another chance at the budesliga for the carling cup or 8 ranked in the EPL is actaully hilarious...........

Eds,
Its been quite sometime since last time I visit this site.

1)Heard that Agger is likely to leave rather than Skrtel. If we receive offer more than 18M, Rodgers likely will sell him. Is it true?

2) Which one defender linked to us? fernando amorebieta, kjaer, mehdi benatia.

3)Any latest news regarding Joe Allen?

In my opinion, If LFC going to let Agger go, we need to find someone with similar playing style like Agger.Able to start attack from below, capable of driving forward, and also a bit of dribble skills. His passing also very good.

Eds, your opinion on this?

Thanks much.

Hi Ed

I would like to get clarification regarding the Ramirez saga. You seem to indicate that the likelihood that LFC signs Ramirez is low (reading through using Search button). If I am correct in my assumption, is this because LFC is not that interested to sign the player or is this because Ramirez is not that interested to sign for LFC?

Thanks
PowerLFC {Ed002's Note - I have explained that there is a chance that Liverpool make may an effort to sign Ramirez. Betancourt is still sharing his views with anyone who will listen. Bologna has made it clear who they are talking to and the price they expect for the player. The only interested club I understand to have been ruled out by the player is Wolfsburg.}

Hi Ed's,

Was wondering what you thought about the rumour of Robin Van Persie coming to us in a swap deal for Andy Carroll and a packet of Walkers Cheese and Onion?

Will be a good deal I think, especially if we get a multi pack of crisps

Eds with Macca speculating that the club is looking to sign 4 players, not including Allen, and 1 loan signing, are there any players that you would confidently say could be one of those targets?

Dempsey, Periera, Mirallas, Ramirez, Amorebieta, Afellay..... there have been so many links. Thoughts?

Geoff {Ed002's Note - Read the posts please.}

Can someone give me a good reason why we are even considering letting bellamy leave this year I Cant think of one good reason its stupid

He's 33, he wants to leave, he's got bad knees, he's Cardiff and our new manager is Swansea, how many do you want?

Maybee cause he wanna play his final seasons where hes career started?

Family reasons. He want to closer to his family in Cardiff.

Danny

Only God know why ? that a good song and that is it only my mind when we sale player and target of our buying.

Didn't his career start at Norwich?

Ed any chance of Messi as the 'star' loan signing? Just thought I'd ask as every other name has been mentioned..
Cheers,

06 Aug 2012 14:19:55
Just looking for eds opinion on this,we need money to compete in transfer market and take 20 million for agger who is so so injuriy prone,keep carroll who is young and a beast of a striker and will only get better as he has proved towards last few months of last season,say we have 30 million to spend and 20 million if we get it for agger we then could have a nice 50 million on players,giving carroll on loan is just bad buisness remember aquilani,,,We then buy 3 top quality players before the season starts and we dont look stupid in the transfer market like before,conclusion if we get 20 million for agger take it and re invest wisely, not let 35 million striker to go on loan i think its crazy if we do,we might just need andy up front this season, what you yhink eds,,,IRISH KOPITIE. {Ed002's Note - I think you are looking for something that isn't there.}

06 Aug 2012 14:16:26
Ed, when Macca said "We are trying to sign 4 players plus Allen and a loan signing..", was Borini included in that 4? Thanks

An Dun Red {Ed002's Note - I have no idea.}

Seeing as Borini has already signed I doubt they are still trying to sign him

Fair point, i must have read it wrong however i managed to do it.

Someone said it yesterday i think one of the eds

Not so much a rumour but a thought. I am very happy the way Andy is willing to fight for Liverpool. He is a talented lad and should at least be given a chance to prove his worth. Whatever happened to YNWA? for lfc br and the players to succeed, everyone must his and her support behind rhe team. by the way, the same goes for agger

Has KK blown Fenways budget last season?Because we now appear linked with mediocre players from the off.Where as last seasons were over-hyped who turned out to be mediocre!

Perhaps these 'mediocre' players will turn out to be really good, instead of over-hyped..........

BigBadBen

It's not about KK. I think FSG want to take time to understand football. the best they should do is appoint a highly respected DOF some like Crueef . that can help the club so much. and FSG will feel secure the invesment.

red-don

Cruyff? Not unless he is going to be top dog, cos he's gonna think he is regarldess [FR] {Ed002's Note - Sparky will always be top dog.}

I'd give any player particularly a young player 2 seasons to bed in look at Henry bergkamp berger Lucas even David silva was more effective in his second season Paisley's genius

06 Aug 2012 14:24:30
It appears to me,LFC gone from one extreme to another.Firstly pay mad O.t.t money for mediocre players(Carroll,Hendo,Downing).Who may/may not come good depending on your view. Then for sake of couple mill more lose out on Sigurdsson/Dempsey to make a point, because we were made mugs last time.No sensible middle ground.

If we pay over 10 million for Dempsey, considering his age and the fact he will go for nothing next yr,would in my opinion be crazy.Fulham are well in there rights to keep the player, but I think the nearer the 31st of August comes, they will except the offer we have put forward.

06 Aug 2012 14:05:16
Ok, listen up folks. Yours truly's had relayed to him the following pertaining to BR's plans.

Indeed Rodgers' eyeing two loanees, Ibrahim and Sahin, who are both very much available at the 'right price', which is precisely the problem. BR wants loan deal whereas Real and Barca would rather sell. This has been the stumbling block.

So as things stand, there won't be no 'star' loan signings unless LFC put forward what would be acceptable to Barca and Real. It may be that Rodgers ends up putting in a firm bid for one of the two.
I wouldn't hold your breath, though.

I can confirm that indeed, Agger's a goner. Although highly liked by Rodgers, it's been decided that it would be important for the club that offers in excess of £18m are 'seriously' considered. Agger's been made well aware of this.

City are increasingly becoming favourites in a deal that LFC will insist include Richards.
Amorebieta's only an alternative to Richards.

Dempsey won't sign, but Joe Allen will. Something should be announced Thursday afternoon.
Additionally, Carroll I expect to be off by next week Wednesday.

A watching brief's been kept on Ramirez. He'll become an option only in the event that Suarez leaves, which, I'm reliably told, is significantly unlikely.

It's also been reliably relayed to me that a significant, mega money push for one of Iker Munian and Gaitan, preferably the former, is not to be ruled out.

Walcot? NO!

At last some good news. You don't have to thank me now, fellas. He! He!

Jorge

If this is true, why would City be willing to lose a young defender with a great future for an injury-prone 27 year old? And why would Rodgers have said to the media that he's enquired about loans from Europe because there's some great players "in the loan market" if he wants players who aren't available for loan?

Red Ollie

06 Aug 2012 14:04:15
Dear Editors

Are we likely to sign Gaston Ramirez?

{Ed002's Note - "Likely" is a very subjective term, but I would not say that Liverpool are "likely" to sign him right now. But it may be possible.}

06 Aug 2012 14:00:57
Hey Eds
Macca said we were working on signing 4 players plus Allen and a major loan signing. I think the 4 players could be:
Dempsey
Walcott
Amorebieta
A.johnson
I think the major loan signing could be Ozil of Real as the spanish teams fans do not rate him highly and he will play in England for a season which will give him more experience and toughen him up a bit.

You are an person. Ozil was Real's 2nd best player last season and is adored by their fans. Stop perpetuating a sh*t rumour

06 Aug 2012 13:58:38
"Afellay could go out on loan for a year," his representative, Rob Jansen, told Italian reporters over the weekend. "Yes, that is a possibility." This has to be the guy that Macca was talking bout.

Is he a major player though

Hey eds, after Macca reported that we would be trying to sign allen, 4 other players and one loan deal, in my opinion we need allen as he will be a very good squad member at 12-15 million, the other 4 players probably should be a cover player for lucas someone who can link well with good passes but is willing to sit infront of the defence and help out at the back personaly id play gerrard in this position if lucas is injured as he is a good defender and play allen and henderson as the front midfielders with gerrard slightly behind, then i would sign 3 wingers/AM, i would have loved elia krasic and maybe adam johnson if the loan player could play here then sign a striker, if we sell carrol id lodge bids for dempsey adebayor or dzeko proven players who are either for sale or fringe players but are proven in the premier league adebayor would be ideal.

The loan signing is virtualy impossible to assume its going to be anyone alot of people throwing names around like villa and ozil, i couldnt imagine villa leaving barca as he is just back from injury and new manager will want to get him into the way he wants to play, if modric goes to madrid and sahin and kaka stay then this could happen but its doubtful, do you think rodgers will play suarez as the main attacking man with borini and downing on either side or borini on bench with suarez and downing either side with a new striker down the middle id love adebayor as he is proven as arsenal city and spurs who are top clubs, these are the players we need instead of the the better players from the not as good teams in the league.

Final word with kuyt maxi and sterling rumoured to be out on loan surely we need to sign some wide players.

Sterling can't go on loan until he is 18...

Okay so we need allen as well as a player exactly like allen?

Craig Bellamy could be set to sign for QPR this week, with Liverpool negotiating with QPR with regards to future add ons of Raheem sterling deal. Liverpool want to wipe out the future add ons by letting Bellamy join QPR are on a free transfer, saving Liverpool as much as £4million pounds on sterling deal.

Interesting weekend!
Reports suggest AC will not be leaving and will fight for his place.
Looks increasing more likely Agger will be on his way in a £20 mill deal (Great player but at 28 and with his injury history may be too good an offer to refuse)
BR hopeful of getting Skrtel to sign a new contract.
Macca post saying we after 4 more players (not sure how many of them will be bought if AC does stay).
Rondon moved to Russia (1 i think a lot on here rumoured we would be after)
BR losing interest in Dempsey because Fulham wont budge on there £10 mill valuation ( come on guy's, for a 29 year old in the last year of his contract, i don't think so) gone are the days when teams robbed LFC for extortionate sums for players thanks to BR.
So a summary.
We all know Allen will be here some time this week.
A bid for Theo Walcott in the offering?
A new CB to replace Agger if he does go (I think a bid for Sakho will come in with Skrtel and Coates that will look solid)
No more strikers unless AC does leave.
And as Macca say's, a MAJOR loan player to come in.
I think this will complete our transfer business this year.
And before i finish to all you whiner's on here who want INSTANT success, it is not going to happen unless we get a large slice of luck this season.
BR know's he has to re-build from the bottom up and take things one season at a time.
This year we have to be content to see players settle to the new way of playing. If we get that right we MAY see a top 4 finish. I personally would be disappointed if we did not, but such is the state of our great club because of previous mis-management, we may have to settle again for just outside top 4.
BUT....with the right investment and the correct player's coming and going...(coming to play for the club not for how much we are willing to pay them each week) i can see us competing with the top teams.
Lets hope for a great season and the very best of luck to BR and the team.
vrcomp.
Y.N.W.A.

Don't agree bout sakho at all but none the less all is possible.

Not sure we should be too concerned with losing Skrtle if he goes. Sama and Coates are a future CB pairing for us, both immense in the air and mobile for their size. They can both play football also, not just head it/clear it merchants. I was also impressed with Wisdom on tour, looks very assured in possession. Where we need to strengthen is blatantly obvious. We lack creativity and pace in the final third. Gerrard aside our midfield is pretty pedestrian. The re-introduction of Suarez will obviously improve our forward play but at times last season you felt he tried to do too much himself, probably having little confidence in those around him. What little I've seen of Borini is encouraging, he's making intelligent runs behind defenders the type of which we haven't seen since Torres in his prime. We obviously have to wait to find out if he's clinical infront of goal, one can only hope so. Walcott is a name linked to us and I feel, if not him then a player in his mould would be an excellent 3rd forward in a 4-3-3, his pace alone stretches teams. I think with a couple of astute creative signings the future of our beloved club could be a lot rosier than many predict. Let's hope Rodgers can get the players in he wants at LFC and provides us an attack-minded,successfully brand of football. If some of the targets being mentioned are secured then I,for one, will enter the new season full of optimism.

Paul,Staffs.

06 Aug 2012 13:48:06
Just heard from my source, Liverpool will be signing Joe Allen today.
He should be a Liverpool player by 6pm today

The time us now 16:45pm, your post has an hour and 15 minutes, feeling silly yet??

06 Aug 2012 13:47:55
Out of the rumours I would chose:

Howedes, Allen, Marillas, Ramirez and Dempsey.

Doubt it will happen. But that's my choice.

06 Aug 2012 13:43:00
Although I love Agger as a player, Im not sure I would want to keep a player who has only played around 46% of his games since joining Liverpool.
£20M would be too good to turn down, we need players who can give us 40+ games a season regularly barring major injury and Agger just cant do it. With Aquilani also gone at least we know players being looked at as their replacements will actually be earning their wages rather than collecting.

06 Aug 2012 13:42:41
Apologies for posting on rumours but I don't know where to post this. Reina played in the behind-closed-doors friendly yesterday.
Training today as is Suarez and Coates.

You don't need to post it anywhere. 99% of us have seen it already. Thanks anyway.
Dutchmal

Was this picked up on pepecam or was the cam not allowed into the training session {Ed002's Note - Only when Sparky ran up to Suarez and gave him a friendly little nip on the shoulder.}

I think Luis would bite him back

06 Aug 2012 13:41:31
Why would Liverpool sell Agger?! Both him and his agent have said he wants to stay, would he be forced out? And there's no way we'll replace him well, look how shaky Skrtel is without him. Would be like Alonso's sale all over again. A mistake.

Alonso wasnt as injury prone agger is great but at this stage in his career he has never shaking his injury problems so some people including me just need to learn to let go

No harm like but when barca come knocking its hard to refuse. i will wish agger all of the best as he has been a great player for us when fit.

Not a rumour but i think BR should try to get adam johnson and tevez/dzeko in exchange for agger. Would be a good deal and will boost our attack!

Lol yeah rite

Afraid I've never been able to see the attraction of Adam Johnson

06 Aug 2012 13:04:05
i really hope pacheco stays. is there a big chance he could stay or is he going on loan or something? thanks

Gaston Ramirez price tag set to £15.9m. 30% of the fee to go to his old club Penarol. Get him!

06 Aug 2012 13:29:37
think yous should set up a whole page for daniel agger, as that is all thats been posted at the moment. even tough he wants to stay and will probley sign a new contract the speculation is still crazy...

Hi Eds Well done with the work u lot put in.

I would just like to say if Agger or anyone is leaving will it please hurry the f--k up so we will have a chance to replace them. we need another striker, a right winger for as long as i can remember, a centre back and if pepe has another season like the last a new keeper.Tommy Irish Red.

How many cb do u wont

Reina is solid dont judge him on last season wasnt his best but who had a good one not to mention he did come out on top on plenty of one on ones.plus that killer headbutt.come on hes the man

06 Aug 2012 13:20:20
to all lfc fans can we have a little bit of faith in Br and stop believeing all the media crap, they have to make the headlines. Agger and Skirtel are both after new contracts so their agents are trying to get the best deal for them thats their job and the last time i checked they along with Carroll and suarez where still employed by lfc criticise change if and when it happens

But there's no smoke without fire!

Eds what's your take on quaresma any good?

Neemboo {Ed002's Note - Back in the day he was doing well. He has struggled a little over recent years.}

He's talented, certainly, but his attitude is awful. He's lake a lazier Nani

He was highly rated but has gone off the boil recently... I would take a punt on him for 5 million.... but then again we could just play Sterling?
Thats the problem that Buck Rodgers has in my opinion. We have really good young players and whoever we buy should not stop them from progressing into the 1st team.
jonnybarnes89-90

06 Aug 2012 13:11:29
Crazy to even think about letting Agger go, its the Alonso scenario all over again.
And selling him to Machester city would be an even bigger mistake!

The Alonso scenario all over. Why is Carragher bullying Agger now too ?

What??carragher was bullying alonso..really??

06 Aug 2012 13:09:55
just wondering, why do the fans want tello when we have sterling ?

Because he's got a fancy name.

Maybe because it has been reported that Sterling is unsettled and wants to go back to London

Because then we have two quality young players coming through. That can play on either wing and Tello can even play upfront.

Suarez and Messi can play same position but wouldn't you have them both?

Jordan

You don't understand how tough it is making up songs for players these days with there being so many foreigners in the PL. Konchesky, Krgyakos and Sinama-Pongole really screwed it up for the fans so part of the new policy is to buy players whos names rhyme easily....hence Tello.
And maybe Borini

cozinoz {Ed002's Note - The Tello Submarine perhaps.}

Or "Tello,Tello,Tello. the merry, merry pipes of pan"!

AnfieldUSA - Do not be so naive, the only reason we won the Carling Cup was because we were playing a strong side when other clubs were playing their youth players. Even then we struggled against a Championship side in the final. Last season We finished eighth on the same points as Fulham in ninth. This summer everyone has improved their squad except us who will be weaker than last season. Sorry for being negative, but I am very worried about our future.
Sam YNWA {Ed002's Note - There are another four weeks to go and the club are actively trying to work the squad out - give them a break.}

Stoke City away won 2-1: Sorensen, Shotton, Huth, Shawcross, Wilkinson, Whitehead, Diao, Palacios, Etherington, Jones, Jerome.

Chelsea away won 2-0: Turnbull, Bosingwa, Luiz, Alex, Bertrand, Lampard, Romeu, McEachran, Malouda, Torres, Lukaku.

City away won 1-0: Hart, Richards, Lescott, Savic, Clichy, Milner, Barry, De Jong, Johnson, Aguero, Balotelli.

City home 2-2: Hart, Richards, Savic, Lescott, Kolarov, De Jong, Barry, Zabaleta, Silva, Nasri, Dzeko.

I cannot see many youth team players in any of the premier league teams we beat on the way to winning the Carling Cup last season.

And we didn't struggle to beat Cardiff in the final, we absolutely hammered them but conceded goals in the last minute of normal time and in the final minute of extra time to pretty much their only shots on target.

JRG

U got tooooold! JRG=legend

Hi Ed's, can you update us on Reina. He seems to have disappeared off the face of the earth. Is he staying or going ? {Ed002's Note - He played for Liverpool yesterday. Checking PepeCam sees him turning off the A565 and I can just about make out the sign "Hillside Go ..." - I can't read the rest. I don't know what Sparky has been snacking on but it was probably a mistake.}

06 Aug 2012 13:06:44
I don't know what games people have been watching on here. Agger has never been a solid defender. Can I remind people he has been injured for large swathes of his time at Liverpool. If you really watch him the amount of defensive mistakes he has made has been frightening. So for me
, Macca speculating a 20 million plus bid would be a tremendous deal. In fact twice as much as he is probably worth

The GT

Finally someone taliking sense. Totally agree.

hughesy boy

Everton reserves must be desperate for a 12 goal a season striker

18-months ago Borini was playing reserve team football at Chelsea while Torres was playing for Liverpool FC.

After signing for Chelsea for £50m Borini decided to leave Chelsea.

Now, Borini will be playing for Liverpool FC while Torres will be playing reserve team football at Chelsea.

-LfcYNWA {Ed002's Note - He is back at Liverpool and preparing for the season. At least one offer will be made for him. We will see.}

If FSG sell him and agger then they might as well sell the club.

What team do you think will make the offer ed? Thanks. {Ed002's Note - It has been dealt with at length and there seems little point in starting again before it happens.}

Hi eds appreciate all the work you do. Could you please explain the loan system to me? I am well aware that the club would agree to pay a portion of the player's wages but would there be other fees involved? If so are they that beneficial to the receiver club? And with regards to the carroll situation would west ham have to buy him if they not relegated or just have the option?

Thanks for all your efforts eds.

{Ed002's Note - It can take all manner of forms with either club paying a fee and wages and everywhere inbetween.}

06 Aug 2012 12:37:45
do you think we will replace Agger if he leaves Ed or use what we already have seing as coates and carragher could easily cover? personally id like them to try and get micah richards.

alot of people seem to be complaining about the amount the owners are spending compared to our rivals but even though id like us to be buying all the top players like city its good that they are being sensible and only spending what we are making in profit or less. This way we will never be in a situation like we were with the old owners again. It may take longer to get back to the top but atleast we wont be putting ourselvves it debt like alot of our rivals. In the long run we will be alot more stable.

Lee {Ed002's Note - I suspect he will be replaced.}

06 Aug 2012 12:35:12
Rogers has looked at Tello and Affelay as potential loan targets/transfers, I wouldn't rule out the pair of them being part of a deal for Daniel Agger. £10mil plus those players on prrmanent transfers would be a good deal for us. Invest that £10mil in Amborieta. 3 positions sorted with one player out going.

King Ralph

You know in the real world transfers don't work like that. don't you?

i think agger will be sold,we missed out on his relplacement verthongen from ajax.
some player like agger good left foot and good defender.
i hope we buy at least a class winger and left footed midfielder so we can sell adam

Missed out on a player we were not looking at?

No info, or sources, not itk in the slightest, just wanted to give my input by saying

Joe Allen
David Villa - on loan (fingers crossed)
Theo Walcott
Clint Dempsey
Kevin Mirallas
Fernando Amorebieta

Carroll, Agger, Bellamy, Adam, Spearing out (wouldn't want to lose all of them, but being realistic - these things happen don't they).

Keep Pacheco - he looked alright during pre season.

I'd be more than happy with this

Super

06 Aug 2012 12:21:14
Hi EDS,

I see that Cristian Tello has been omitted from the Barcelona First Team Squad. He Won't like that. I understand he has one year left on his contract. Looks an exciting prospect, has to be a serious option now, don't you agree?

06 Aug 2012 12:19:58
Potential targets if either first choice cb is to leave:

If Agger leaves:
Fernando Amorebieta
Simon Kjær

If Skrtel leaves.
Benedikt Höwedes
Ryan Shawcross (yes seriously)

Just passing on what I've been told.

Well shawcross also has that tough boy bouncer look- but other than that skrtel is twice the defender.

Could you imagine Rodgers trying to teach Shawcross how to pass a ball.

hi eds
with regards to the recent agger and carroll rumours and the money/bids the club may be looking for each [approx 20 million], do u think that if one where 2 go this would free up enough funds 2 chase other targets or could both still be sold
cheers {Ed002's Note - I think there is every chance that both will be sold.}

06 Aug 2012 12:12:07
why is brendan rodgers obsessed with wanting his old swansea players? we signed borini who he had at swansea, he now wants joe allen and also watching scott sinclair and ashley williams and wolves keeper who he also had at swansea de vries. why?? if he that obsessesed with swansea players then he should have stayed there. these players are ok but not good enough to make us get back into top 4 where we want to be!! also why dont we try sign adebayor? proven in premiership and yes he will have high wages but so did aqualani and he has just left so that has freed up his massive wages.

So how many ex swansea players has he signed so far?! stop believing all the media rubbish

Alan Partridge

He signed 1 so far in borini and joe allen will sign this week so his 1st 2 signings will be ex swansea

Borini played a whole 9 times on loan at Swansea. So that makes him a Swansea player does it ? OK, from now on I'm going to refer to David Beckham as a former Preston player then.

Kev.

Rogers is afraid to make a "mistake" ala Kenny or rogers will be sacked so by buying DNA swans he thinks he's limiting his chance of the chop at years end.

Its that simple!

ed do u think liverpool will sign a couple of strikers before end of transfer window? because we sold kuyt, and both bellamy and carroll look like they may go so it doesnt leave us with many strikers at club apart from suarez and borini {Ed002's Note - Much will depend on who leaves and whether Adam Morgan and Pacheco are given a chance of being part of teh first team squad. And don't forget the role Joe Cole can play.}

If we're depending on Joe Cole to help fill the forward line, things are looking bad. I try to support all LFC players but unfortunately Joe has shown next to nothing in a red shirt

cozinoz

Ed002 joe cole can't play, he's terrible.

Joe cole is not half the player he was at chelsea. Atleast downing n adam make an attempt to play unlike cole. The guy is on high wages n is of no use to us. Rather give pacheco and morgan a chance.

So this site seems to suggest our window will pan out like this:
Carroll,Bellamy,Adam Doni and Agger will leave and we could end up with Afellay(Loan),Allen,Dempsey,Walcott,Amorebieta as well as another signing which could possibly be Scott Sinclair or De Vries.

Hi there.

I see the speculation surrounding agger. Would be a massive blow to lose him. Yet another big name walks the out the door.... When are Liverpool FC going to realise that these are the sort of stars we need for the spine of our team. Skrtel had a one off good season.... Can he do the same again and with out agger... Also there hasn't been alot excitement. Were just selling half decent players.

Cheers

Liverpool Target Cristian Tello Left Out of Barcelona First Team Squad

Spanish newspaper Marca has reported that Tello has not received a squad number, with new manager Tito Vilanova instead giving the opportunity to Martinn Montoya, Marc Bartra, Jonathon dos Santos and Marc Muniesa from the youth squad.

Tello may now be considered for the Barcelona B team but there were suggestions that he would consider his future if he was not considered part of the first team squad.

With the return from injury of Ibrahim Afellay and the impressive form of Isaac Cuenca, it seems there is no place for Tello who does have just one year remaining on his contract at the Camp Nou.

Hi All, Ed what is the situation with Man City. All these rumours that Agger to City for 20mil...Do you think that Tevez could be the big signing? Ok he has his issues & troubles but with Suarez them two would be so dangerous for other teams? Do you think there is a possibility that LFC will go for him?OR did other clubs enquired for Tevez? My other question is about leavers? Who is the most likely to leave? Rumours circling around with so many players to LFC,but there must be leavers too. I mean Spearing is a joke & should go,Adam also, I don't see a big potential in Downing either...He's got his one and always the same trick & moves which defenders can read and know about....Are there any clubs interested in theses players please?
Thank you & keep up the great work!

Pete {Ed002's Note - Agger has an option at Manchester City. I don't know who the "star" loan signing will be. AC milan may well make a push for Tevez. Players will be leaving but I do not know of interest in the likes of Spearing - clearly many fans have turned against him recently - I have no idea why.}

The thing with people like you calling young Jay Spearing a "joke" is that you have no respect for players of the team you are meant to support, and little idea about anything football related compared to the manager/coaches. I wonder if the likes of Steve G and Carragher etc. knew that you would label one of their young team mates a "joke" that they would even want you supporting the team. Probably not.

Spearing is a very nice person but he is not good enough alas he is not the only one the big priced tranfers from last season are worse than him.

Spearing is the worst player at Liverpool. He is rubbish at everything. He cant tackle, he cant pass, he cant shoot. He is a liability. All he does is stand on the pitch pointing. If he wasnt a local lad he wouldnt be here.

Apart from Dempsey Liverpool haven't been linked with anyone who can improve our front 3!
Also rodgers has come out an said he's very happy with how his front 3 our progressing!
Borini-Carroll-Suarez?
Not good enough for champs league

That is a better front line than Tottenham have got.

I think the initial poster is a worried fan of Tottenham, so good post clown boy!

My source is telling me that Liverpool will sign Ibrahim Affelay on loan for the whole of next season

Cheers

Spud

Off the heinze bottle it tells you this?
That's the only source you have so why lie...

06 Aug 2012 11:40:19
So we are trying to sign 4 players along with Allen and the Loan according to Macca. WOW
My guesses are
Allen
Loanee- Affelay im guessin?
1. Dempsey
2. Walcott
3. Amrobieta?
4. Vargas, Lb cover?

Quality signings especially in our position.
But would love a ST if Carrol leaves.

Also guys who are critisizing Walcott
He may not be the best winger but is hell of a lot better then what we have now (dnt say Sterling obvious guy needs more developing Not ready).
Walcott managed
8 goals 11 assists last season and
9 goals 7 assists season before.
Thats great stats and hes still 23.

06 Aug 2012 11:39:35
What Macca has said tallies up with the info I get from inside the club, at least about agger. Although the boy wants to stay the thought within the club that is that 20m+ for a player of his age and injury record is decent business. Rodgers ideally wanted to keep him but was "advised" by people above him

Ed's, just wondering if one of you could clarify the transfer fee received for Aquilani? I'm sure I read here that the undisclosed amount was largely paying off Aquilani's remaining contract, with Liverpool receiving virtually nothing by the time everything was sorted.

However, other internet based sources suggest we received 7 Million. Any info would be much appreciated! {Ed002's Note - It was an effective release involving a small 4M euros transfer fee, but Liverpool paying 3.4M to Aquilani to boost his wages, 200k to Roma (5% of teh transfer fee) which Roma has now announced. This excludes agent fees, taxes paid to Liverpool by Roma and administration costs. He is gone - everyone is happy.}

Good riddance

Does the word 'riddance' ever get used in anything other than the above phrase? {Ed002's Note - Very, very rarely. Someone wrote an article for the IHT on the subject some years ago.}

Very happy ED

Thankyou Rafa for signing an injured, uninterested, lightweight Italian pussy for silly money and paying him even sillier wages, who we eventually had to give away.

Thanks for all you did for us, but it's time to move on mate. The Wirral's not that nice pal, put your foot down with the wife, tell her it's over, move to the other side of the Tyne and start eyeballing Pardew maybe. Time to move on and let it go son.

David

Okay, below is what is going to happen. I guarantee it.

IN:
Borini
Allen
Dempsey
Amorebieta
Walcott
+ loan signing i am not sure of

OUT:
Aquilani
Carroll
Agger
Adam

Smudger

All viable. But dont start guaranteeing things. It's just petty. Also I personally think the loan signing may be Ibrahim Afellay

AZ

And you guarantee this Smudger so if I place a bet it is guaranteed to make me a return with great odds.
Please dont do this to yourself lad its a bit ridiculous.

Kopping a feel

I agree on your outs.

In though I reckon Allen , Dempsey , vargas and a CB . Loan will probably be a winger.

LAVERS

Oh good, Smudger has guaranteed it. Must be cough true

Add Cole, Spearing, Pacheco and Brad Jones to the outs and I would be happy.
Also bellamy athough I would like him to stay, it is pretty certain he is likely to join Cardiff.

I dont get how walcott is linked with us? Hes not good enough!

06 Aug 2012 11:04:02
I think every effort is been put in to making the right signings to suit the managers style so we should just give him time. It just bugs the media cause they have no idea what's going on which is how it should be!!
On another note: Donegal beat Kerry yesterday to reach the all Ireland semi final for the second year in a row and face cork in 3 weeks and I just got my tickets for the cusack stand. Happy days ahead!!:-)

Spot on comments, but can't help the long drawn out situation from bugging me too.

Markolfc

Dont get too excited cause the dubs are going to win it again :)

Great win for Donegal..Brolly was right lol
Red Branch

Sorry mate but mayo gonna put the dubs out in the other semi!!

GAA is an APPALLING game, the most boring game to watch in history. Makes Cricket look good

The last poster obviously doesn't like watching contact sports. Neither does he understand that the players are amateurs who have to get up for work the next day. Unlike their overpaid overacting counterparts in soccer, they don't roll around the ground as soon as the wind changes direction.

"Unlike their overpaid overacting counterparts in soccer, they don't roll around the ground as soon as the wind changes direction."

You clearly didn't see Dublin playing at the weekend then. lol.

Hi eds!
Any Lfc interest in F. Campbell, S. Dann or L. Cattermole?
I think they are young and quality. {Ed002's Note - Not that I am aware.}

Are you kidding me

And i thought us being linked with walcott was stupid?

Love FSG after the way they have turned livepool in to midtable. Enjoy mediocrity as we enjoy league titles

Blue moon

Just love the way other clubs supporters like to come onto our site
Get a life {Ed002's Note - It is banter, no more.}

Still you got some catching up to us in terms of league and champions league trophy's lol.

Funny how both Manchester clubs are obsessed with Liverpool FC. Must be really hard for them to be constantly living in our shadow.

I bet you haven't been this happy since Abramovich took over Chelsea. {Ed002's Note - I rather think Blue Moon would be a Manchester City supporter.}

Another club who sold their soul for success, shouldn't you be bantering with the Chelsea fans over who can spend more? Embarrassing.

Jatt YNWA

Jatt ynwa yes we sold our soul to success what about liverpool who sold their soul to mediocrity. Whenever you hear word mediocrity, mediocrity, mediocrity. I'm sure you feel realy good as i feel

Liverpool fans are still stuck on 70/80 lol! this is 2012. Wake up you are past and will remain midtable team forever. Where you belong love it and I mean love it

Not that its really any of your business what FSG have done or not done yet Blue moon, but perhaps you ought to consider how long even unlimited funds take to help 'buy' Success. The sheiks bought you in 2008 didn't they? What have you been doing for the last four years?......

BigBadBen

Ed 002 totally missing the chelsea joke there(: {Ed002's Note - I really don't understand what you are saying - Blue Moon is not a Chelsea fan.}

Wait until Rochdale get a sheik. They'll be the best club in England and will be on Man City page bragging. And then Dagenham get a sheik. Etc etc. it's easy to be 'great' with an overnight sugar daddy but it will take eons to win what Liverpool have and classiness will forever evade you.

cozinoz

Ed002 i think the joke was he used to b a chelsea supporter when they became rich but then switched to man city when they became richer

MC99 {Ed002's Note - Ok thanks. I am a very serious person so am not used to jokes at all.}

Guys, Man City are kinda doing us a favour in the long term...looking at levels of success, now and in the long run, we are currently (debatably) the second most successful club in the EPL, City have a long way to go to catch up with us or Utd, and their plan will more than likely fall apart before then, ie the Sheik will get bored with his toy, or it will be impossible to move players on to buy better ones due to the same high wages that attracted them in the first place. LFC are not currently in a position to challenge Utd, but we have our friends over at City holding them off while we rebuild to a point where we can challenge again, and pick up where we left off. Long term Man City's success is good for us, stop being so angry, plus it's taken them a long long time to be this successful, be happy for them, City have had harder times than us over the last 20 years.

Dont you just hate the school holidays

Fsg spent big downing carroll henderson ect but they ended up being not good value 4 money would you pay all that money and not step back a little.

cheers mal

Calm down lad. You've won 1 league title. Your history is an absolute quagmire compared to Liverpool. Man City to win 5 european cups? Dream on. Your owner will get bored and you'll be back amongst the mediocrity you accuse us of.

@ Blue Moon
You're now starting to sound like your arrogant neighbours. That's the problem with the nouveau riche who try to buy a history and end up becoming detested by every other football fan.

If we are thinkin of selling Agger(i hope not!) then we need to get in the replacement before we sell him. So that we are not held to ransom by other clubs.

06 Aug 2012 10:29:10
eds...I am fed up reading some carp about someones aunties cleaners cousins neighbour who are related to messi saying who we are going to sign...can you put a list of who we ARE really interested in although we may not sign them..

{Ed023's Note - My neighbours Aunt has a cousin of a friend who happens to be my other neighbour suggested the other day while we were out the back discussing a fence that we're planning to build that Dempsey & Allen are targets}

It's a rumours site, and thats what it was (presumably) set up for..
Much rather read that than an endless list of questions to the Eds which it seems to be turning in to...

I agree it should be more about rumours, the funny ones and the ones that may just be true. Ed's when you started this site what was your vision for it? Was it to be a bit of fun? Or did you anticipate the amount of imbeciles that would come on here?

Danny {Ed002's Note - Ed001 started the site about 10 years ago. I don't recall him mentioning a vision statement.}

06 Aug 2012 10:25:10
Just a few thoughts on possibilities if Agger leaves, just wondered what people think would be the best option

Bring in a new centre back - The Bilbao player? Ashley Williams?.....
Or
Promote Coates or Kelly to fill the breach and use money to strengthen other areas

RedSG

No point strengthening other areas if the heart of your defence is weak. if we sell agger i would prefer to replace him with a quality centre half, dont think kelly is ready , carra is as we all know past his best and coates i am unsure of yet(not seen enough of him really), as i said dont strengthen other areas if your heart is exposed..... just my opinion
gra2966

New centre back needed. Coates as 3rd choice and to play in cups and Europe. Kelly to cover RB and LB and again play all cup competition.

Red Rout

Godin to help coates along

I agree with all the replies, build on a solid foundation at the heart of the defence, so an experienced centre half to replace Agger would be the way forward.

RedSG

06 Aug 2012 10:24:49
I heard that the Loan signing will not be from England, but elsewhere in Europe and will be a winger, with a clause to buy.

As a result, i am guessing it will probably be Ibrahim Affelay who will need to regain fitness after a long term injury. {Ed023's Note - Did the manager stating he was speaking to two European Managers give that theory away?}

06 Aug 2012 10:38:55
agger to citeh
Adam Johnson to LFC
Walcott 12m
Carroll to newcastle/west ham
sahin loan in
Dempsey in
Adam to Fulham
evz

Carroll will not be going to Newcastle .

06 Aug 2012 10:38:33
The loan signing shall be Affelay. Allen will be coming in. Other than that I would hazard a guess at Ramirez and maybe Vargas.
Good times ahead as I think Henderson, Sterling, Suso and Shelvey are gonna be absolute superstars so I'm not to worried.

Not really a rumour, but has anyone seen Henderson play for us in pre-season? I just wanted to know people's thoughts on how he's playing, if he's any good?

I've been trying to persuade my mates that he will become a great player, but nobody seems to believe me...

LFCBilly

{Ed006's Note - He hasnt been bad but Im in the same boat as you. If he keeps pushing and working hard he'll come good.}

I too believe Henderson will come good. I think the system Rodgers will try to implement will be perfect for him. He works really hard for the team and keeps possession of the football while not being overly conservative.

I will say against Gomel he was disappointing and I expected more from him playing in CM. He seemed a bit sloppy in possession and didn't really show for the ball as much as I would of hoped.

This may be because he had only played 45-minutes football before this match or it may have been because all our midfielders were pretty bad that game. Either way, I could definitely see the reason why BR would want Allen in there.

JRG

I do think the gap between defence and attack in the Gomel game, didn't suit him. He's the perfect box to box midfielder, but that doesn't work to well when your defence doesn't step up with you.I am sure he will look a top player when partnered with Lucas and Allen.

06 Aug 2012 07:41:55
Eds in Jan you said we were looking at adding another striker to the squad. With maxi and kuyt out and borini in and Dempsey likely, these bring us to the same number of forward options. Do you think another striker is being prioritised? You know of interest in any strikers?

Red Rout

{Ed006's Note - Personally I dont know of interest but also if Carroll is likely to leave another striker will be brought in. This I am sure is certain, I am not sure who though.}

06 Aug 2012 07:08:28
Losing Agger will be a huge blow, I have faith in Rodgers and believe he will succeed. I however, am a massive fan of Agger and thought he'd go on to captain LFC one day.

On the other side, 20million for a player who suffers badly with injuries is a fair price.

Red Raw

You're spot on. Although Lucas is my future captain.

Stone YNWA.

06 Aug 2012 07:06:40
im guessing the four players are Williams Sinclair vorm and Taylor? lol
on a serious not i am nervous for our future but if we get 20million plus for agger id risk it. just prey we get the quality in so we can challenge. i do trust br but he has some serious work to do in the next couple of weeks

sam2jam

06 Aug 2012 06:00:25
I think Rodgers wants a cash plus player deal for Agger. For example, I think he would be happy with 15m plus Tello from barca or 15 plus Adam Johnson from city or 15 plus callejon from real.

AGGER IS NOT LEAVING

06 Aug 2012 05:10:20
There'll be nothing of the sort happening----6 players coming in and Agger leaving??..we are always pathetic and slow making deals and just make fans dream big...The only signings for the past 1 & 1/2 month have been the manager and paying over the odds for Borini who's no star player nor the manager is. With 24 days left, 6 players coming in & 1 or 2 going out is simply impossible with the snailpace people in charge we have at the club. May be 1 or 2 more players & that'll be it. Top four won't happen and as was the case last year, same old excuses week in week out...we dominated but didn't score, we were unlucky, we deserved better, the officials were unfair to us, we hit the post, we lacked depth, the new player/s are taking time to gel, the new players are not performing, bla bla bla...Lfc is the fastest team to be linked with new players but the end product is nil. Lfc has made me dream big for the past 2 decades or so and no premier league title till yet with the Mancs even surpassing our record...I just take it lightly now and I really laugh when I hear these stuffs...anyway, that's my thoughts coz I've waited and waited for too long!!

Waited too long? Wait another 25 days and see what the squad is like. Then you can complain.

I suggest you end your long wait by supporting a different team. Of all the problems that LFC have, having awful "fans" like you is amongst the biggest!

LFC_SA

Don't take the bait
These are Trolls who support other teams and fear and / or jealous of our great club
They will soon be back at school

Why is the original poster a troll or a supporter of another club? The original poster is just telling the truth! I've been a staunch LFC fan for over 40 year's and i'm worried what direction our club is going in! The player's we're looking at and the one's we're prepared to let go!

I'm In Football Coaching In The Caribbean And Going Throw This Site Daily I Can See That A Lot Of You Are Good Fans But Most Of You Know Little About Players And Tactics.

So I Will Give You Some Pro Insight About Squad Players And Transfer Targets.

Gk: I think Liverpool is covered in this department , even if Doni and B.Jones Leave. Reina is very reliable. Any decent goal GK will do . Reina is a assets , I Think We Can Sell Him If We Need Money To Invest I Think He Is Wroth close to 20 Mil and they are a lot of good GK for less money on the market ( Vorm was signed for 2mil , steklenburg 8mil )

RB: okay in RB we have Johnson , he is good people and suggest he will fit in good in BR system BUT!!!!! i think you forget that he is constantly injured ( muscular problems ) i think we should move him on but it's not a priority kelly and flanno are good enough.

LB: enrique's form is a bit worrying but he will be good , i think he need to work on his crossing . and robinson is not ready to backup. so a LB is needed just for back up

CB: We Had a very good defensive record last year ( untill chrismas ) i think a good CB is needed. but Coates and D.Wilson are the already and they are ready the only need quality playing time. if agger or skrtel leaves we shoul bring in a good CB amorebieta Maybe i think he is a miss mach for EPL but rafa had interest in him to year ago. i think cualker an williams are not good enough for Liverpool yet.

Mid: okay last year we had a lot of Ball possession . but the team was slow and we lack creative players , with GOOD TECHNICAL ABILITY.This Year With BR style of play we need other type of midfielders , We need good passers and midfielders With Composure And PRESENS ON THE BALL , henderson and spering lack that adam has it but he hass the wrong attributes to play in the system i think he has to go , spering to , henderson will learn , and most of last season he was played out of position on the right he will be better throw the middle . we need allen and in feel the need for an other good defensive midfielder like Bruno Soriano OR S.Capoue / M.Sissoko. Jonjo should stay hes verry good he has a verry good forwards play .

ATT: Suarez may be forced out. Carroll situations is 50/50 i dont see him playing in the system and i would take any thing close to 20 Mil. he will never be wroth more than that even if he stats scoring like crazy he is just an English OVERPRICED PLAYER. but he can stay an try to learn using his foot to carefully touch the ball or try to emulate Graham. downing is better second seasons( go bac kto the aston villa time first season he was s*** second season he earn a move to liverpool. throw cole away he is not good . i hope bellamy stays he can be very useful. and i dont know why liverpool want to let pacheco go , tello is not much better than him i just has a better support cast(barca and Messi) and he has a better strike at goal.

Transfers: Dempsey will help in the short term he is a Kuyt type. a good team player but any thing over 8mil is to much for a player hitting 30 soon. Ramirez , I don't really know if he's going to fit in EPL . he is not Suarez. and fans Shouldn't take his Olympic preformans. he needs a lot of possession of the ball to play good . eider walcott of a.johnson will help .

I started to question your knowledge of players and tactics when you put the words "Flanno" and "good enough" together in a sentence without the word "not."

Not really a pro analysis.. Each of those points and the players linked to the points have been said by fans or Eds for ages, we all know all of that stuff... And how did Rafa look at amorebieta two years ago, when Hodgson was in charge?

Wow, thanks for that professional insight. How kind of you to educate us all.

You've gone through the team regurgitating things that are said on this site EVERY DAY.

My favourite aspect of your coaching style is the advice you offer Carroll:
"but he can stay and try to learn using his foot to carefully touch the ball or try to emulate Graham"

Incredible stuff mate, maybe there's a place on the coaching staff for you?

Sorry, I know I've risen a bit to this but I take real offence when people are so patronising!
I've played a decent level and taken my coaching badges but I'd never try and tell someone I understand tactics, or football in general better than them.

Joe

Agree with most of your post. i do see a role for Carroll especially in the Europa cup and against physical teams .
i am a coach also in league 2 really gotta get me a job in sunnier climes though..
mal....

Hey eds with Macca saying Agger could leave and also commenting on a big player coming in on loan, do you think it could be a Barca player, eg Villa, coming in for a season as part of a deal? Obviously thats presuming he goes to Barca as linked.

YNWA92

06 Aug 2012 00:56:31
Hi Eds.
I've been racking my brain trying to figure out who the possible loan might be and the only person I can think of as a superstar loan is kaka of real Madrid . His playing time will be restricted because of the imminent arrival of luca modric and the form of mesut ozil could this be our big loan ?

06 Aug 2012 00:39:03
Ed's, any idea how Coates is rated amoungst the Liverpool coaching staff. I know he came in with a good reputation and from what I have seen he has been impressive, although a little shaky at times understandable in his first season. Do you think he will get more opportunities this coming season? {Ed002's Note - Sorry, I really don't know.}

06 Aug 2012 05:02:33
Silverware count
Chelsea- 2
Man city- 1
Liverpool-1
The rest? 0.
This includes Manchester united, Arsenal, spuds, and the evertonians(again...)

Isn't winning silverware what the leauge is really about? In terms of success last season, we are 3rd. Manu?-LAST

I didnt understand why u put everton, newcastle in the same sentence with silverware..

He didn't even mention Newcastle

Siggle

We came 8th in the league. I would take 2nd in the league without Carling cup win. Sorry but your arguement is just to please yourself.

Silverware is the priority any day. If we can win things without playing CL football, that will do for me - Europa League was far more entertaining last year than the CL. And I am naive enough to believe that although football is big business it should still be entertainment.

John B

Birmingham city won the same silverware we won but they went down , qualification for the C.L. is success then with the finance ,we can get back to where we belong. ynwa red mick tag

Wow Macca you've blown my mind

Carroll Signs for Westham
Agger sold £20m
Bellemy Sold Cardiff
J Cole gone
Skrtel gone because he wont sign a poor contract
Aqualini Gone

Borini Suarez

Downing C-Adam Lucas Gerrard

Enrique S Coates Carragher G Johnson

Reina
M Kelly
Sterling
Henderson
Shelvey

It would be amazing if we started the season with so many players sold. Olympics been so good, euro 2012 was good too, alot has been happening so I don't think transfers will happen until last day of the window.

06 Aug 2012 01:22:29
Maccas last post has good and bad news. I don't want Agger to go but if we get 20 mill+ for a player plagued with injurys, would this be a bad deal?

If he does go, I would like Sakho (PSG) to replace him.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

My only hope, Blair, is that if he goes it's to Barca and he wants the transfer. Honestly think it would be difficult for any footballer to not want to play for them, and hoping that's the case here.

RDL

We may have to cut out losses, would we get this sort of money next year for the great Dane, maybe not. Just make sure we re invest into the squad and buy quality instead of quantity and I'll be happy.

Omi

Yeah Blair mate. Remember, Ed002 has always said that players will be come in if we sell, so even though we are trying to get in 4 players + Allen + loan signing, I expect a fair few to go.

I just hope Agger stays. Sakho, I don't agree mate, his reading of the game is not as good as Agger's. I don't think there are many players who could replace him mate, I am sure LFC realises this too, but we should have gone for Verthoghen, who is very similar to Agger when he was available.

In my opinion, if the management want to sell Agger, they are selling him at the wrong time in the window.

AG

I'd take 20 mil for him

I think the best move for Agger, if he were to go, would be to La Liga.
Less physical and slower pace which would probably lessen his injury likelihood, and if he went to Barca he would compliment Pique as Puyol is slowly reducing his game time.
Alves-Pique-Agger-Adriano

not a bad back four......

Swap Adriano for Alba and it is a really good back 4

why not make a bid for moussa konate. great upside and not big money. are there any teams planning this?

so drive out the owners who saved our club.
drive out the owners who re-appointed KK.
drive out the owners who have greatly increased our revinue since joining.
drive out the owners who gave us 2 record signings.
drive out the owners who have a plan.
drive out the owners who have proven success.
drive out the owners who spent big on youngsters.
drive out the owners who will now 100% back their man.
drive out the owners who appointed a manager with a clear footballing philosophy- a philosophy that has proven to be successful (those t***s who say it has been found out due to an off game against chelsea are deluded.)
yeah okay. driving FSG out will be one of the biggest mistakes our club can make.
derryred

Well said mate, there are some right D**kheads who support our club.

The owners are possibly driving some fans to despair we want them to be winners but their decisions are suspect i.e signing camoli because some one they know met him at a convention and told them he was good .

Good post.

JRG

Well said - could not have said that better myself!
Boysie-red

Best post I've seen for a while. FSG are doing a great job so far. They've made mistakes but owners of every club do. I can see what they're trying to do and I'm impressed. There are certainly some fans of other teams that post on this site. There are also regrettably some awful fans of ours that have no idea about football. They post negative gibberish. I am more than happy to see constructive criticism. Not impatient, knee-jerk rubbish. Roll on the end of the school holidays.

But, they're not spending £500 million, so i'm going to stamp my feet and cry my eyes out.

Someone owes Ed002 a big apology after he says KK is leavin & gets abuse, Carroll is leavin & gets abuse, Agger is leavin & gets abuse then Macca comes along says the same and it is all ' thanks for the info and keepin us up to date Macca ' . U realise the Ed only has one to go now and that is Luis .
HuwJ

Great work Ed002. Just hope u are wrong when it comes to Luiz.

Chaki

Carroll and Agger are still LFC players so your argument is worthless (for the time being)

cozinoz {Ed002's Note - I suspect his point was with regards to what I "said" and what Macca had "said". I appreciate that the last sentence implies something else.}

He also said suarez is leaving.

06 Aug 2012 01:57:26
I would rather keep Agger but a big fee may be best for all parties concerned if Macca is right with his post. Agger is a ball carrying centre half and if BR imposes a system of short passing, quick movement and high pressing then his talents could be under utilised.

Its a condition of human nature, that the more times you repeat something, the more you convince yourself it is the truth.

So fellow LFC supporters, what have you being trying to convince youreself of, let's see now, could it be:
1 That FSG have money.
2 That LFC will not lose their most talented players.
3 That Brendan Rodgers really knows what he is doing.
4 That the club have a plan or strategy going forward.
5 That we will get a new stadium.

Go on, settle into your easy chair, and repeat after me...... You sucker!.
Red Herring.

The proof is in the pudding, is it not?

1 Money spent to buy the club, money invested in player purchases
2 Weve lost Aurelio, Kuyt and Maxi
3 Rodgers has 100% win record in competitive matches
4 Who would buy a club without having a strategy?
5 Who says we won't?

You are typical of the worst of LFC fans on this page. You read the tabloids, play your FM2012, and then come on here impatiently whining like a spoiled brat because Liverpool haven't bought the players or spent the money you wanted them to. Youre not 'my fellow LFC supporter' or anyone elses because you have no conception of what 'support' means.

cozinoz

Yeah, we're gonna have a decent season we get it mate. But, yes fsg have money but not much will be spent because of how kk overspent on players who haven't performed (yet). Sadly some of the best will leave (agger to name 1) and i thought it was common knowledge the stadium is being re-developed. You've been tellin yourself that a bit too much, you're starting to believe the lot.

Red Herring is a manc.

the sale of Agger could kill us, he made Skrtel look good, I cant imagine Skrtel having a good partnership with any cb at d club or that were being linked with

You cant imagine Skrtel having a good partnership with someone you havent seen him play with? Interesting.

Andy K

Agger is a great player and when he is on the pitch for us he is a true red but sadly he is not on the pitch enough for us

I dont normally post twice a day, but something has really got on my nerves and needs to be addressed properly.

Its people saying we need a prolific goal scorer, as suarez isnt one.
Ajax apps110 goals81
Uruguay apps54 goals28

Remember his hat trick against norwich? left foot past keeper, right foot from tight angle into corner, and the fantastic lob.

Suarez hit the post 12times i think i read somewhere. I know the post isnt the target bla bla but its close. Also forgetting the fact keepers had games of their lives at anfield this season.

Luis suarez IS a finisher, he is a dribbler, he is a very intelligent player. When a man like him is in the team, anything is possible. Lose him this summer i will be gutted, really gutted.

Benny baller

Great post, you are not the only one who thinks this way. I feel for us suarez would be wasted out wide, centrally is perfect.

Respectfully, I'd have to disagree. I don't see him as a clinical finisher at all nor do I think he should play centrally (unless it's behind a clinical finisher). He's creative, dynamic, and an overall good player, but I don't think he's really a striker per se.

In fact, I seem to recall reading an interview with him once where he actually said he preferred playing on the right to being central, but I could be misrembering. {Ed049's Note -

Hittin the post is close? Yeah it is but it's not the back of the net, Kuyt had an in incredible scoring record in Holland, it's not the same, he scores good goals and is a fantastic player but we need some1 like Robbie to be there an finish the ball 8/10 once in that 18 yard box, Suarez was no more than 3/10 and I'm not dismissing him he would be even better with a natural finisher along side him

star loan signing could be from either Barca or City, both as sweetener for Agger sale. LB and ST being chased, also well documented Allen, Ramires, Butland.

Loan star possibility Tevez / Villa / Pedro

Real or Barca. Agger won't go to City. Guarantee u that.

06 Aug 2012 13:04:55
not sure about the sweetener thing, because i think Macca posted about the loan star before news of agger possibly leaving. easily possible though

06 Aug 2012 01:33:10
As much as I don't want Danny to leave, if we turn down 20 odd million and he gets injured again fans will be going nuts. It's alot of money for a player with a terrible injury record.on his day he one of the best in Europe, unfortunately we haven't had the opportunities we should to of seen it. I do hope Macca is wrong because Dagger is class
FowlerisGod

£20mil for a defender cannot be sniffed at, we often find a gem for a bargain price (Hyppia, Agger himself) When you ahve a Lucas in front of the back four it is easier for them, take the money

Thoughts on sterling playing cf of the 3?

Benny baller

===========
Not enough physical strength or composure in front of goal in my opinion. Morgan gets rated highly because of his calmness in front of goal. Sterling belongs on the wing, just get a bit scared when I see him and Enrique on the same side! [FR]
===========

Physical strength? Thats what they said about messi, so kept him on the wing for so long. Now look at him playing central as the main man. Composure in front of goal? you clearly never saw the 6 goals in one game at anfield.

Play the right tactics, dont keep pumping the ball high, and i think, not now, ( let him learn his trade on the wing ) but in a few years adopt him more centrally.

Benny baller

5 goals , not 6

Whilst I really rate Sterling (as do so many others), comparing him to Messi is simply ridiculous. Not fair on the lad.

And the 5 he scored against Southend were good, but Southend were TERRIBLE.

Joe

Was it 5? my bad. And im not comparing him to messi, as a player, messi is on another planet. Im just saying the lad can finish...

I can not believe all the miserable pessimistic people on here. If anything things are actually looking good for us which they haven't for quite a few years now. We don't have owners leaving us in debt and nearly ruining us, we haven't splashed out silly amounts on players and we've got a manager who has a great deal if respect for the club and a good knowledge of football with an attractive style. We're stable and on the up.

We may not be buying all top players but we are not in the position to do that currently, but in time it will come. But you don't need to be foreign or cone from a top team already to be a good player, just look back at our past players. Get behind the team and the manager because they're representing our club, and if we dont support them then we're in sh*t because nobody else will.

All the fair weather fans should jump ship to the likes of city because the moaning is ridiculous. We are Liverpool supporters so we support them through thick and thin, whether we get relegated or win the league, we support our team. I'm sorry for the big speech, but as a REAL fan Im positive and loyal no matter what. The end

Ed, according to Macca we r trying to sign 6 players(4+allen+loan)......can u really see us signing 6 players. {Ed002's Note - Plus Borini.}

Borini
Allen
Loan guy
Walcott
Quaresma or Vargas
Amorebieta (Agger replacement)

How on earth can we afford To buy 4 players that will "make a difference".

Where is this money coming from..

Well perhaps gaitan could be one we try for. i doubt we will get him
derryred

I don't feel like we need so many players in. i really want munian at the club, get allen in, replace skrtel or agger if thats what they're gonna do, maybe dempsey aswell. also we really need to keep luis. i also think we should keep carroll, we already paid over the odds for him and he wants to play for us. no need to do something similar to that, its just not worth the loss we'll take. andy will get us goals if rogers tries a little to accomadate him, it wont take much andy is young he has potential to fit into this system.

ri red

Derry red can you imagine him and suarez on opposite sides of the forward 3. mouthwatering

Selling Agger & Carroll is where the money is coming from for signings.

And maybe our star loan signing will be

people r getting on br back already, feel he is doomed from start he needs time. lots of names r being thrown around to whom we will sign think we should be more concerned about who we should clear out as the list is endless downing, spearing adam, henderson, johnson, shelvey, coates, cole, and then we can build a team around the likes of kelly agger, skrtel, lucas suarez, carroll if we keep them we cant pay big money on fees and wages for new players while we r paying all the 2nd rate players we have it will take time so lets give it to br and judge him in 3 to 4 years time

We hav'nt really got that time! After the next season we'd of been out of the CL for 4 year's look how far we've dropped being out of it for 3 year's never mind 6 7 year's! Danny Agger do'es not want to leave! he's Red through and through he's also the best defender we've got who's only 27 yet every player has his price hey! What has LFC become? A feeder club that's what! I really hope Danny Agger tell's Brendan Rodger's he's not going anywhere and leave's on a free in 2 year's time! He'd still be in his 20's and get a big signing on fee from who ever signed him! If you read this site Danny and you do go best wish'es Dan! In Rafa we trust!

I prefer BR anf FSG's way.
derryred

I agreed til you said get rid of shelvey and hendo, they will be our cm pair in a short time.

ri red

Lol are people really still saying in Rafa We Trust? Its 2012, people

cozinoz

Cozinoz He only left in 2010! Kenny left us in 91 when the problem's started then took Blackburn to the premiereship which i can't forgive! yet most people still call him king! Then he took over last year and with the player's he bought has set back and really made us look a laughing stock! Rafa had to feed off what Hick's and Gillet would give him and we were ever so close in 09! he also outted them for what we're! So yeah in Rafa i trust anyway!

Dont care what anyone says but im convinced alonso will be the loan signing! Modric will be at real which then frees up alonso to liverpool :)... I know all reds would love this move! Hopefully i am right because the thoughy of xabi an lucas/allen? Would gove that freedom to gerrard to play just behimd the striker where hes best! Lets face it, gerrard pulls out of alot of tackles these days since his injury... with a mid 2 of xabi an lucas this would give stevie the licence to roam! An you know what that means.... 30 yard power driving strikes :)... Just hope im right! Worth thinking sbout tho aint it? An i cant believe the left back situation hasnt come up alot more because enrique is not good enough at all... that is all

woozlfc28

Alonso will not be the loan signing because he is in the last year of his contract so they wont loan him out, if he is to leave Real Madrid this year they will sell him to get some money back.

JW

He isn't in the last year of his contract he has 2 yrs left.

Would we be signing Allen is we were getting Alonso? Its either Callejon or Affelay imo. Would love Oezil, what a player.
