Edd002, I know this is likely to cause a debate, but according to your sources, is Suarez likely to leave this summer. I honestly don't think he will but don't have your information.
Thanks

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I really don't want to go there.}

07 Apr 2014 15:17:56
We are going to get this every window.
There's nothing you, I or Ed02 can do about it.
As I said in a post the other day its win win for us.
If he stays we have one of the best strikers on the planet.
If he goes we have a near £100 mill in the bank to improve the team or even go towards the Anfield project and still have Sturridge to take his place.
What ever happens trust in BR. He will make the right call. Of that I am sure.

Good win today. Knew we had the fire power but was worried over West Hams physicality. Thankful for NO injuries. City game will be a better footballing spectacle, . if my nerves can stand it!

Really pleased with the win today. Massive 3 points to the reds. can't fault our desire to win. wouldn't of conceded if wasnt for big Andys forearm smash in Migs fizog!

More rumours tonight about Contreo from Madrid. I hope its true as he is very good full back.

Up the red men!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

It might be a very useful signing that, if it were true.
He can play pushed on also, and is arguably better further up the pitch actually.
There will be some serious competition for his signature however.

Well done! Only 5 games left.

I didn't think we played particularly well but we got 3 points.

A special shout out to Mignolet. Did everything right under intense bombardment. If Carroll slapped me on the head and hit my arm I would drop the ball.

Sterling was brilliant. No longer just an exciting youngster with pace. He was fast, strong and intelligent. A little more composure and he will be world class.

Suarez and Sturridge were a little off. Good! Saving it up for next week.

There should be no pressure on the players as they have already done us proud this season. The expectations of the supporters has already been met. Everything from now on is a bonus unlike Chelski and city.

Football is a strange game. I have a funny feeling that Everton will decide the league outcome in their game against city.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Me too! It's freaking my blue nose mates out that their quest for champions league could effectively provide an avenue for us in winning the league!

Agree0 Disagree0

I know what you mean Marshy . I keep goading a blue nose mate by asking him if he would want Everton to beat City to secure a Champions league spot if it put us in the box seat for the title. He still won't answer me.

They will come good, and when they do you will be happy to forget all this "we didn't sign a big name.Getting behind your team involves being behind your club, you're lucky to belong to the best family in the world! Does anyone think sturridge has lost a bit of fatigue over the last few games just doesn't seem to be pressing like usual or burying the chances he would usually bang in or is it just me?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I have been contemplating the same thought I have to say. It happened last season for sure, leading to being benched for games like Southampton away but it isn't really a surprise being a pacey forward, and his form has been so good that any player would struggle to maintain that level of performance for the entire season.

Although I do wonder if maybe a rest in certain fixtures could have helped him maintain his electric form, having said that he has been substituted in pretty much every game we have been fairly comfortably winning and I don't know how well he would react to being left out. I don't think it's any cause for concern though as it clearly hasn't affected our results, but I do hope he gets a sufficient rest before the world cup, we certainly don't want him picking up any injuries.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Apr 2014 22:18:08
I did think that today also.

I do remember Ed001 mentioning that for medical reasons he is sometimes substituted in games {I think it was a response to a poster being unhappy at the sub happening in a recent game}

I hope its not the worst case scenario and that he does not have an injury flaring up.

Just get the rest you need during this week Danny. We'll need you next week against City.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with Bennett Jnr - one of the Ed's mentioned he was being watched / monitored due to fitness reasons.

Remember we've not played lots of players over the last 15 games; still if we win next weekend it will be something - but it won't be the end!

Evening Gent's.

A few weeks ago I asked if you boys can handle the pressure.

Now I know, lol.

Good luck for the rest of the season.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Dags, wenger has.to go though a great coach, .the modern game is more.tactical than recent years. Arsenals season has fallen on the the results to main rivals where wengers tactics have been awful to be modest. Good luck with fourth

Agree0 Disagree0

Cheers dags, question for you, do you feel arsene will be your manager next season? after the players backed him the other day, I thought they were absolutely terrible today, didn't look like they were interested. I thought they would have backed up what they said with a performance. what's your thoughts?

Agree0 Disagree0

Big Al,

Unfortunately, I think I agree with you mate. We have a decent plan A but no plan B.

Wenger is proving to be tactically inept, doesn't change tactics/formations to contain the opposition's style of play and his substitutions are either too little or too late, or both.

I appreciate you should play to your own strength's but when you have 3 or 4 attacking players out, you should be able to go to away games and play for/get a draw.

A draw today would have kept our destiny in our own hands, now we have to hope Everton slip up.

Our fall from grace over the past month has been spectacular to say the least.

Agree0 Disagree0

Griff,

Good question mate.

To be honest I really don't know.

We just don't have any leaders on the pitch. I have been brought up watching the likes of Frank Mclintock (although I was very young), Tony Adams, Pat Vieira etc, but this team has no leaders, and when we go 1 down, especially away from home, we just capitulate.

At present, I'm just lost for words with this team, sorry mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

DG - I don't disagree with you - your option - stick or twist - you should have £40m to spend this summer on at least two world class players?

Agree0 Disagree0

Or we could just blow the £40m on Suarez? lol

What a player Raheem Sterling is. He was immense again today and has been for the last few weeks when he's been involved.

His first touch is superb, he shields the ball like Xavi, is always an outlet and is always looking for the forward pass. He's so aggressive and productive, exactly the type of player Rodgers wants in his team.

Let Rodgers shape and mould, techincally and mentally, the other talented youngsters in our squad and we'll have one hell of a team over the next few years.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

In the second half he was amazing. Totally relieved pressure at the end with some bursts of pace! Thought he lacked composure in the last third at times though

Agree0 Disagree0

Conbicks - don't necessarly disagree but remember Ronaldo - too many tricks - Sterling has hugely impressed me this year - he keeps performing and he's worth all the £5m we gave for him

9 wins in a row! Didn't matter how we do it, we just bloody did it! Contentious decisions aside, we were totally dominant. Magnifique from Captain Fantastic, my MotM. Dictated the midfield and despatching the penalties with coolness and aplomb, overtaking King Kenny in the goals charts in the process. Skrtel was awesome in defence, as was Flanno and Hendo, who worked their socks off. And yes! It's official - the mancs have kissed their last league trophy goodbye! Bring on the citizens!

Penno on Flanagan for me also, keeper got a slight touch but left his arms out full and caught Flanno both legs.

Have a bad feeling about today lads! I know I say this every week, but we struggled big time with Bony when we played Swansea, and Lukaku at Goodison, and that was our only real physical test of the season being honest. Andy Carroll will be out with a point to prove, they will be looking to win a few corners and free kicks to lump it up to the big man himself. We always struggle with physical teams, and don't be surprised if Skrtel gets pulled up for shirt pulling. He will no doubt be all over Andy Carroll. I'm hoping for a win, but my mind says a draw.
Cheers,

So your're confident then mate. EFC will be more than a match for youse now that players are back and that at least 2 if not 3 of the loans are ready to sign for us next season. Oh and by the way the sewer rat is going to sign for Real Madrid in the summer.

Agree0 Disagree0

Mikey, when have Liverpool not had the bragging rights?

Daveyboy. Beating Everton nearly all the time gives you the confidence that Liverpool would win. Maybe Everton should try harder?

Agree0 Disagree0

Also davey sign all them loan players and you still have the same squad as this year. The same squad we made look ordinary.

Agree0 Disagree0

How is signing loan players full time and improvement? I don't think you'll afford lukaku and he's the best one! Unless you soend, everton will be 6th next season

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Everton would like to do a deal for Lukaku but the problem is that Chelsea would want Barkley as part of the deal. And that might not be good for Barkley's career in the short-term. Chelsea, regardless of the issues, are pleased with how Everton have dealt with Lukaku and will likely send a player there on loan next season. They continue to look to improve the team, so I would not get to cocky just yet.}

My point was eds, they won't get that much better by signing players they have on loan, permanently. It's the same squad. And if they lose Barkley, IMO he's their best player with potential to be special.

Have to say how impressed I've been with our team, but most importantly brendan rogers. If he doesn't get manager of the season after the way he has set the premiership alight, then there is no justice.
I did not want kenny to go, and I did not want rogers to replace him, but i'm big enough to admit I was wrong. He has been a revelation, the new bob paisley! Humble and honourable, gracious in both victory and defeat, a true gentlemsn and leader of our wonderful club.
Well done lads, play to your limits and let's see where we end up on our journey.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

06 Apr 2014 11:46:04
My biggest concern is that most rumours are saying that two of Johnson, Skrtel, Agger or Enrique will leave.

Tactically, our problems are our defence, it's too mix-and-match.
With Jose Enrique and Glen Johnson we have two wing-backs, wingers with defensive duties, both are very good at attacking but not very good at defending.
Then we have the Skrtel-Agger partnership. When we lose possession we get countered quickly, because of our wing-backs not being in good defensive positions, when we get countered we see the difference in Skrtel's and Agger's mentality. Skrtel drops back and draws the opponent in, Agger goes to confront the opposition. Both systems work, if you have a partnership that follows it together.
The high line Brendan Rodgers played last season suggested he wanted Agger's confront and disrupt style, that's why he played almost every game last season. As a group though, our mentality is to drop back and draw in, and that is why Skrtel is playing almost every game this season.
The wing-backs need a high line centre back partnership to cover them from counter attacks. The higher up the pitch the centre backs are the less ground the wing-backs need to cover.
So in an ideal world we would sell Martin Skrtel and buy an experienced high line playing centre back and our problems would be solved.

However, now comes reality. The only player out of the four that is unlikely to pick up a long term injury throughout a season is Martin Skrtel.
Glen Johnson, Daniel Agger and Jose Enrique are incredibly injury prone and that is what makes our defence so inconsistent.
When they are fully fit they are almost guaranteed to be in the starting line up, unless a player is in great form (Sakho).
So the question is; do we sell Martin Skrtel and replace him with a player that fits the rest of our best defence's style?
Or do we sell Glen Johnson, Daniel Agger and Jose Enrique for being injury prone and find players that fits Martin Skrtel's style?

The answer, I think, comes from who is left in the squad.

If Johnson leaves, we are left with Martin Kelly, Jon Flanagan, Andre Wisdom and Ryan McLaughlin as our potential right backs. Solid.
If Skrtel leaves, we are left with Kolo Toure, Martin Kelly, Tiago Ilori and Andre Wisdom as our potential right centre backs. Solid.
If Agger leaves, we are left with Mamadou Sakho and Lloyd Jones as our potential left centre backs.
If Enrique leaves, we are left with Jack Robinson and Brad Smith as our potential left backs.

All those players are suited to a defensive style. Drop back and draw in, with a pack mentality. A team within a team.
So for me, I would say Glen Johnson and Jose Enrique will leave this summer.
A new left back will replace Jose Enrique while our current right backs can replace Glen Johnson already.
I think Daniel Agger will stay, remain competition for Mamadou Sakho, and try to prove he can play a more defensive game.

Sorry for the long post, just assessing how I think our defence should improve next season.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

And when Suarez leaves?

Agree0 Disagree0

If Suarez leaves, we find a replacement with the money we sold him for.
We could get just about anyone, but I'd probably choose Falcao.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Man you are going to have a long summer - do you not realise what a difficult position the club is in financially now with both UEFA and EPL looking to start to try and impose sanctions in a couple of years time.}

07 Apr 2014 03:49:06

It was just a joke. Hopefully Liverpool do not sell Luis Suarez.
If they do though, please let them have learnt from their mistakes, Andy Carroll, and will buy a sensibly priced replacement that will benefit the team.

Hey there fellow reds! I seem to remember that the glorious Manchester United team was having a regular "Liverpool can't win the league" celebration in their forum, when first place is mathematically out of our reach - well, with over five games to spare, we can officially rule out the United team as of yesterday (after the Chelsea victory), since with Liverpool and Chelsea having a direct clash, there is no way that both teams can finish on 72 points!
So, happy MU lost the title day!

May I be permitted a short post of clarification?

I remember 1992 we beat Manchester United on the last match 2-0 I think rush scored his first goal against them and this effectively put an end to them winning the league for the first time in 25 years but you could see they were getting closer and building something special.so my point is if we do fall short this year we can only get better from experience are younger players are getting from this if we add few players in positions we all no need addressed keep are top players the future is looking good my fellow reds.

We will likely sell reina Coates one of dagger or skertel Robinson assaidi and aspas maybe Kelly wisdom and borini

We need to replace only 2/3 of them
And add a lb cm and forward or 2

So in all we need 5 players 3 first team 2 squad

Suso will be squad player and borini if he stays

So we need 3 starters
LB a.Cole / Bertrand
ST/ WF konoplankya / Demba ba
CM Kagawa/ barkley/ rakitic

Demba ba? kagawa?

I thought barkely was a bit unlikely also.

i would not want ba anywhere near are team.

Hi eds & reds,

I for one would be very happy if we signed Dani Parejo (for the right price). Strikes me as a player very similar to David Silva. Not got bags of pace, but is very skilful and incredible vision. I don't get why people want Banega, but seem uninspired by Parejo?

Signing Parejo and wide forward would give us an even greater degree of flexibility tactically. I'm really looking forward to next year, even more so than this one as with the right signings (BR being the most important) we could see a very successful season.

BR is building a squad which is capable of playing a plethora of systems. This year alone we've seen: 4-3-3; 4-2-3-1; 3-5-2; 4-4-2 (diamond). Ridiculous. I haven't seen a team play with such a variety of systems in one season.

I'd be interested to hear from one of eds about Parejo (how you see him fitting in), and about how you think Rodgers is doing this year if one of you guys are about.

For the way we play we need a CM that is dynamic and plays with intensity both on and off the ball. don't know enough of Parejo to judge if he is that sort of player but I do know the money being linking with a move for him is bizarre. but you have to look at it like this how much of and improvement on Allen is he, who cost £15m btw AND also knowing that signings from La Liga haven't been good to us last summer, over £14m spent with hardly any impact.

{Ed002's Note - A lot over £14M - try £22M.}

, don't need centre backs, don't need a back up dm, lucas and gerrard fantastic, flannagan can play right or left back and is playing great, corthinho playing through the middle is best, henderson, allen great, suarez, sturridge fantastic, sterling great and will improve,, a left back to battle flannagan I go for cole on a free, left mid I would like llana even if we paid 20 mill we could have a bargain in later years, up front as back up to s +s for demands of all competitions next season we should get weiiman and one of either lakuku or benteke which I bekieve we could get at a reasonable price, we should let aspas, coates, moses, cohesion of squad important so I don't think we should get more than 3 players in, if we need more keep with youth as we have cracking little gems ready to bust a gut .

I disagree that we don't need a cebtre back

Fair enough, why do u believe we need another centre back and what other positions do u think we need

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't believe we have a truly top class centre back and I'd like one. I'd also like a new full back a left sided forward player and a new back up striker.
