Hi folks. Brilliant site!
I'm going to be in Liverpool on Saturday but haven't managed to get a ticket for the game. Can only recommend a bar in Liverpool to watch it in? Does Caras bar show the game live on a Saturday?
Cheers

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Did his bar not go belly up?

Agree0 Disagree0

Did it? Is it the one near to the bierkeller?

Agree0 Disagree0

Carras bar shut down, get down to the ground and watch in one of the pubs there the Arkles not bad.
You may even get lucky and pick up a ticket outside the ground.

Agree0 Disagree0

Get down the flat iron mate. Out the way but great pub, great atmosphere

Agree0 Disagree0

Brilliant Ta mate. Do you normally have to pay much more than face value for a ticket outside the ground?

Slightly non-Liverpool related, but in the English Language exam today, I might have referred to Liverpool in Question 6 a bit too much. Still I hope I get the A*. (In my mocks, they asked me for my favourite time of the year and I said the last day of the season- United lost that day!)

Good luck Zaki. YNWA

Jordan Ibe was awesome against Boro' the other night, I don't understand why he is not on the bench at least? I know he's young etc.but we are crying out for players who take on defenders and get to the dead ball line, he is better than Sterling as far as I am concerned, and he's is a very good player, if I had my way I would play both of them (a team of 13 makes more sense!) just threw that in.

I had a highly entertaining evening last night watching the Middlesborough defenders bounce off Jordon Ibe in a match we won 4-3, though we nearly threw it away .

This guy is going to be immense for us . Some young players arrive at the first team door already developed into men . Older readers will remember Norman Whiteside, Rooney is another one, perhaps Ross Barkley also .

Just a personal opinion but having seen Ibe last night and against Manchester United U21 a few weeks ago, I would have him in the first team at the weekend, up front with Suarez and Sturridge, with Coutinho just behind .

As I say, just an opinion .

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Ibe was a starter in the pre season games and season started he was on the bench for few games and now for last few games he can't even make the bench must be somthing we don't know and BR knows about ibe but I hope he can make it big I really like that kid.

Agree0 Disagree0

Conspiracy theory?

Ibe is due a new contract in December when he is 18, last year Liverpool had to give Sterling a contract on more money than they wanted to pay because he was a regular in the first team and he hasn't been the same player since. Maybe once Ibe gets his contract and he has a few more U21 games under his belt he will start making the first team squad, especially if we get an easy draw in the FA cup.

Or maybe BR thinks he's not quite ready yet.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hope we don't sell him on Ibe (eBay)

Forgot to ask eds. Is it possible to get a late nomination to the ballon d'or? Curious if sturridge were to put up van persie like numbers (last season) why he couldn't at least get nominated? {Ed002's Note - No it isn't.}

Apart from Gerrards penalties, how many goals have we scored from midfielders OR defenders in the last 10 games? or would you like to go back further?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Not really. Who cares?

Agree0 Disagree0

We have two goal scoring strikers now (first time in ages), so the midfield is more the provider for the strikers to score than score themselves. Although Henderson could have got a couple here and there if he got a bit more of the rub.

Last season (all comp) Hendo scored 6, Jonjo scored 5, Gerrard scored 10, Coutinho got 3 goals in 13 games, that's 24 goals from four midfielders, so all in all with Suarez scoring 30+ goals and Sturridge chipping in with his 11 last season that was a pretty good effort, albeit in vain as we didn't get off to the best start and having a very light squad.

The tactics Rodgers has implements relies on two deep laying central mids and that might be the reason why the strikers are getting goals at the cost of midfielders. Personally, given the choice of the two strikers or midfielders getting the goals; i'd prefer the strikers, If Sturridge and Suarez can really push on and help us pick up the points we need to qualify for, what has become our holy grail, the Champions League, then maybe Rodgers will be able to improve on what we've done so far.

Goals from the midfield are a bit light just now, but Suarez is back and has already got a fair few goals and no doubt more to follow, Sturridge is hungry and wants that starting role in the England squad come the Summer, he's flying for us and is filling the big boots needed, truly realising his potential. Let the midfield chip in when the strikers go through the dreaded dry patch, that's when we'll need help from elsewhere. imo.

Crikey I was just looking at the league and apparently Man City and Manchester United have lost 3 games already this season compared to our 2 losses and only one team is having a better PL season thus far, Arsenal extraordinary start to the season .

We really should be much more positive instead of waiting for things to fail us . We have a chance to finish in the top 4 for the first time in years . We simply need to be in a good position come January and then improve in the second half of the season, the latter of which we managed to do last season . Let's trust BR and the team and give them the support they deserve .

Good Point, But why does the bookies and everyone favors City to win the title?
They have got an incredible squad, When a player jovetic sit in the bench, It says how good their starting 11 are.

Agree0 Disagree0

Don't forget we have had to do without Suarez and Coutinho for large parts of the season so far and we are in a good position. But some reds fans I am sure would rather be critical of our squad.

Question for Ed001 or maybe even Ed002 as you are originally from the US. Do you know how Marc Pelosi is getting on in his recovery? He was doing phenomenally well before his horror leg break. Ramsey has proved that bone injuries can be recovered from. With our midfield being so dire this year its a real shame as I think he is the dark horse in our accademy to go on and be one of the better players long term.

YNWAdam {Ed001's Note - last I heard it was going well, but I haven't heard anything since the season started. I will ask about him.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

05 Nov 2013 12:35:53
Cheers Ed, I have high hopes for Pelosi. He is one of the most versatile U21 midfielders i've seen in a very long time. Hopefully he can get fit before the end of the season and maybe push for some game time in the FA Cup or against some of the weaker Prem teams. You don't have to answer Ed, but I'd love to know your opinion of Pelosi as a player and a professional? You have good knowledge of the game and seem to be well connected.

YNWAdam {Ed001's Note - I like him a lot, he surprised me with just how good he was and I thought he was looking like a top prospect. Especially coming from the States, it meant there was a good chance of him getting international experience early, which should help raise his game. Obviously it will depend on how he gets on following the leg break, being young it might not be too much of a setback, hopefully.}

Don't know if it is true but are we looking at more defenders?
We now seem to have an abundant number of defenders and what we are short of is quality, emphasis on QUALITY, attacking midfielders.
Your opinions will be appreciated! {Ed002's Note - I assume you are thinking of Daniel Amartey who seems keen on telling members of the fourth estate how he is locked in talks with Liverpool. Rodgers needs the club to unload some of the centre back collection that he has before adding more.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

05 Nov 2013 12:49:45
I believe Amartey is a young player though? 18 years old I think. I highly doubt he would be signed to go straight into the first team regardless so I would not worry about us looking to sign him. He'd be an U21 for the next 3 years anyway, or we'd farm him out on loan every season for experience. I think we need to loan out more of our youngsters tbh. It's valuable experience they are missing out on whilst they are playing in a pretend league.

Red Gunn you seem to think we care what Ibrahimovic thinks!

Agree0 Disagree0

We need a half decent left back and a good right back wouldn't go amiss.

05 Nov 2013 11:40:44
Ibrahimovic was asked, van Persie and Rooney or Suarez and Sturridge?. Ibrahimovic: "Who is Sturridge?"

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Hi Red Gunn. Thanks for that. We all thought Ibrahimovic was an ignorant muppet, now we have the evidence!

You mean he didn't put Giroud and Bendtner into the equation?

Or maybe he doesn't just know who sturridge is

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Nov 2013 19:33:04
It is funny that this player that Ibra has never heard of is the joint top scorer currently in the Premier League - along with 21 goals in 27 appearances.

Just because the great Ibra hasn't heard of him, does it make these stats unimpressive?

Agree0 Disagree0

Don't need to care too much for Ibrahimovic's opinion, what's for sure is that Nicolas Parsons must be working for LFC, because selling Torres for 50mil and buying Sturridge for 12mil was the sale of the century.

Agree0 Disagree0

This is the same ibrah that said he is too good for arsenal right?

Can any 1 tell me the current situation with Aspas?
Injured, out of favour or deemed not good enough?

Sully {Ed002's Note - Aspas is injured. It is the rest of the team the fans deem not good enough.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Thanks Ed, yea I gave up logging on Sunday morning after reading some of the stuff on here. I just wish people would go back to first game of the season and ask themselves where did they think the team would be come the 5th Nov. I bet no one would have said 3rd or even close. for the first time in a long time I'm actually enjoying the season and I wish all the other so called fans would aswell.

Roy if you think 13 goals from midfield can win the league you are as crazy as a bat trying to hump a squirrel

yk3
===========================

A fact: United did win the league last season with only 13 goals scored by their midfield players (and that counting Kagawa and Giggs as midfielders) .
Another fact, under the right conditions a bat can have an all out orgy with a group of squirrels.

another weird statment by brenda, "arsenal are a great team and we are playing catch-up".im sure LS will be interested!, because it was only a couple of months ago brendan was saying, "why would LS want to go to arsenal as it would be a sideways step" the man defo needs to think before he engages speak mode

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Wise up man. Football and managers are full of contradictions. You are being petty. {Ed002's Note - Actually, although he has improved a little, BR still feels obliged to say something more that is necessary and in many cases pretty dumb. Sometimes he would be better listening rather than talking.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Rodgers likes talking in 'sound bytes'. Personally, I hate it - I was a lover of Kenny's honest interviews where he said all sorts of 'un PC' things, but at least they were honest. I have just had to accept that whatever Rodgers says tends to be not worth listening to, which is a shame, but it is how things have gone in football, and in life generally. It's just a sign of the times.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah I loved Kenny's way too Nick but it was not for everyone. He did come in for a fair amount of ridicule for it, especially on this site. Yet I couldn't care less what Rodgers says as long as he is trying to do the right thing by his club and players. Big deal if he gets it wrong now and again. Its hardly ground breaking stuff and certainly not worth posting about to show him the error of his ways. Like I said. Petty.

Agree0 Disagree0

Actions speak louder than words.

Rodgers will be judged on the results of his actions, not his words.
So far he is doing ok.

Agree0 Disagree0

Finish in the top four and no-one will care if BR talks backwards only in limericks.

Finish 7th again and his utterances will be minutely examined and torn apart.

I honestly think a partnership of Lucas, Allen and Coutinho could work, and here's why.
Towards Allen's dip in form last year, and I don't know if anybody else noticed this, I felt he was being targeted by opposition managers
IE don't give Allen time and space, all their play goes through him, stop him and we stop their midfields flow.
Another problem we have, is Coutinho is often doubled up on, meaning he really struggles to impose himself.
It would be very hard for the opposition to double up on both, and couldn't happen without leaving huge gaps all over the field.
I say this on the assumption Allen can return to similar form as when he signed, barely giving the ball away, recycling the play, I think it's very important to have this in our system.
Henderson hasn't done anything wrong for me, so I feel bad leaving him out, but Allen can

Believable0 Unbelievable0

05 Nov 2013 10:02:55
if they are doubling up on countinho that must mean more space for other players to exploit, have to say like a lot of people on here the midfield is a big worry especially against top 6 opposition next month looks like are real test away to spurs chelsea and city.

So news is coming out that Gerrard might have picked up an injury against Arsenal unfortunatly. Hopefully he doesn't stay out too long because even though he has lost some pace in the game, his leadership will always be needed. However, the time that he may be out could see BR put in another midfielder into the team to test out another formation. I do believe Joe Allen should get a chance because to get match fit he needs to play matches obviously. most think he can't live up to our standards yet if we remember he was mostly played in Lucas position which is not his natural one. Allen is a creative controller that picks out nice passes forward. However, playing him would mean taking out Lucas so in the end he might be playing in Lucas position anyways. I do think we should try something new however. Maybe we should try a 4-2-3-1 or something different like a 4-1-4-2 which could leave Lucas in front of the back 4, push up allen and coutinho and have hendo and moses on the flanks with SAS up top. Seems like an interesting option. Any thoughts?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

4142 = 12 players. 4132 might work against some sides

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Nov 2013 02:26:45
Would be great to see Alberto or Allen in; however would have preferred it not be due to injury.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah that's what I meant, my apologies. But I think have a midfield of hendo, allen, and coutinho would add something special to the team we havnt had, or maybe turn back to a 4-3-3, having an midfield of 1-2 with lucas being at the 1 or maybe hendo in his place since he runs everywhere. and the 2 being allen and coutinho. Also forward we could have sturridge as point and suarez a little behind towards the right flank, obviously not as a winger, a little closer to sturridge and midfield. and on the left wing we can have victor moses to add some pace. if we had johnson on the right coming up for suarez it wouldn't be a problem. moses is needed however on the left due to the fact that cissokho hasn't been as attack minded as have needed.

Agree0 Disagree0

What, the keeper in front of the back four, now that's novel, even for Rodgers!
