Hey Ed just seen your response to Mac's post earlier (about 4:30 this afternoon if anyone wants to read it) and it's nice to see you telling us what you think! Always like to see what you Ed's think but sometimes it's hard to get out a long post! Nice to get a full thought rather than little bits. Should give your full, honest views and thoughts on this site more often, as they always make this site more interesting:)
Cheers,
LS7.

(P. S. don't mind the abuse from posters, make an example of them or just simply ignore it, I'm getting used to it myself!) {Ed001's Note - it mostly depends on if I am on a comp or editing from a phone or tablet really. It can be a pain to type a long post on a smaller touchscreen, though my daughter seems to find it easy enough! Probably for the best I don't do it much, as I can ramble on and on when I get going.}

It must be your sausage fingers Ed! {Ed001's Note - my daughter blames my age, I think I prefer to blame fat fingers!}

Hi Eds, great site

With all of the undoubted talent in our youth setup I feel we are in a great position to develop and promote many of our youth talent into the first team over the next couple of years. I was just wondering how highly rated are the following talents?!

Oluwayesi Ojo
Jordan Rossiter
Jordan Ibe
Ryan McLaughlin
Jerome Sinclair

Thanks,

PB {Ed001's Note - all of them are very highly rated, all are expected to push through and be Prem players, with us or someone else, in the future. Rossiter is the big shining light of the academy, though I am not sure if that is because he is a local lad, as well as having plenty of ability.}

Ed001,

Who would your choices for CB and DM be?

I've always wanted us to have a look at the Sevilla pair Alberto Botia and Gary Medel myself.

Cheers

Stu. {Ed001's Note - Medel yes, not sure about Botia, not really watched him play. I am not sure who I would go for at CB, personally I think Kelly could have a future there, he seems just the ticket for us.}

I would rather not make kelly first choice cb next season. He has not played in that position yet for the first team. Too risky imo. He should be eased in after such a serious injury.
Out of all the centre backs we have been linked with ed001, who would u go for?

Just read this ed mate, thanks.

Stu.

Just seen the evertin goal on MotD - The referee blew his whistle before Distin headed the ball so throw away your hankies small club boys!
A. Moran

To be fair there was no foul there. Very glad the ref blew up though! One of the worst ganes if the season!

13reds

He shouldn't have blown his whistle at all - it was a perfectly legitimate goal and it should have won Everton the game. But, we all remember what happened at Goodison so throw away your hankies indeed :)

I thought he blew for the foul on Pep however I think it was a foul on Jamie anyway, if not a soft one. And to say that it would have been the winner is maybe unfair as we still had plenty of time to fight back, as apposed to the game at Goodison.

I don't get that an elbow is violent conduct but an elbow on 3 different players is just complete stupidity. How on earth is Fellaini getting away with this? Don't want to use Suarez as an example but sadly I feel I have to. If that was Suarez throwing elbows it would be all over the back pages of tomorrows newspapers and nobody can say it wouldn't because just put Suarez in that situation and think of how it would have been highlighted by the media. Nobody would be debating the disallowed goal, only how many games would Suarez be missing. Also on MOTD. They did not mention once the incidents which they always do. Not saying there is a 'conspiracy' or 'vendetta' against Liverpool because I had the exact same thoughts when he did it on Shawcross at the start of the season. Elbows, headbutts what's the difference? Just does my head in sometimes seeing players getting away with that, just like David Luiz's unprofessional behaviour getting Rafael sent off earlier. A very unhappy Red!
Kopman,

Suarez has built a reputation for himself with a range of personic behaviour. If Luis swats a fly he gets his past misdemeanours and character hauled out by the tabloids for public opinion.
Fellaini has been elbowing players for years but it is rarely noticed until the tv replays. Apparently, he is a tough, no-nonsense midfielder. until he oversteps the limp moral boundaries of the press and gets more-accurately labelled as a dangerous and dirty player.
Theres a huge range of nasty offences that goes on in a football game. Most of it goes unnoticed and unpunished but it seems that there's a fine line between a hard-man player (Roy Keane) and a vicious, leg-breaking thug (Roy Keane). and its the media who decide where the boundary lies.

The media only "decide" if you read and quote their opinions - so ignore them

The only way to avoid the media is to live in a cave unless you're at Anfield. It affects us all whether we try not to let it or not.

Don't know what the ed's thought of todays game but. What we were missing is suarez, when its a tight game the world class players make the differnce, I know we won 6-0 last week, but the toon give us space behind the back 4, and today moyes was never going to give space for ya likes of sturridge and henderson to run into, and luis just makes his space, and once again, what would the difference of having an andy carroll on the bench, maybe we could have young ngoo as that type next year, he wouldn't be on big wages, and would be willing to be on the bench, because we know andy wouldn't be happy as a plan B, thoughts?
Cheers ed's

FT 9 6

Good to see the real sturridge. No wonder city and chelsea had enough.

06 May 2013 00:19:13
To be honest there weren't that many of our players putting in a shift today, I don't think Siarez would have made a massive difference. It's as if last week they were busting a gut to play well without Luis and because we got a good result, took there feet off the gas pedal today. Everton didn't play their best either so we could have taken advantage of that. Never mind eh, I for one can't wait for this season to be over

06 May 2013 10:08:37
Suarez would have made a real differnece. casuing with his run and making panic in the everton defence. after all he an attacking threat and we are at home.
we played really bad. really boring football.
we should have gone and tried to win the game.
we don't have a real game changer in the bench.
we need real quality players this summer for any chance of getting top 4.
31 points off the top. and almost 15 points of the 4th place.

05 May 2013 22:32:31
That was the worst Derby in living memory, two very ordinary sides. How people have the audacity to come on here and tell supporters that we have improved is beyond me, Ben you asked me to open my eyes yesterday and see how we have improved, well I hope you opened your eyes today to see how we have stagnated, as I said yesterday I hope we will see improvement next season but don't try to kid yourselves or anybody else that this season is better than the last because it quite clearly isn't!

This is now a massive massive summer for the club because if we get our transfer buisiness wrong then we will have fallen off the precipice into mediocrity for a very very long time.

Waro

Waro

Nice positive and optimistic post

This season clearly isn't better. All except for the more points, far better 3. 5 x better goal difference and higher up the league table that is! But I guess we did win a trophy last season! Following in the illustrious footsteps of Birmingham City!

Ash

How is the wage bill and average age of this team compared to last year when we got less point?

I would suggest that is improvement.

Andy K

To the second poster, if you feel optimistic then put few lines with reasonable footballing argument or don't bother posting, its getting quite boring, every time Waro posts, its always followed by those that like to pick on him but offer little but nonsense.
Now Waro, in terms of the league, statistics clearly shows this year is an improvement on last. We already have 2 more points, more goals and (I think) we conceded less. Now you will have a good argument that we had much better cup runs and you won't be wrong (obviously), but you need to bare in mind we had European football this year, and for the first time in ages we managed to go past the group stages, this would've effected the cup runs. And as you are close to the club, you should know CL was primary target so the league was priority.
I think we will be better off analysing and judging this season in a couple of weeks time when its over; But I do agree with you this summer is massive, and I think the jury should be out on the owners more so than Rodgers, they sacked Kenny and hired him, then set him unrealistic targets, they need to back him this summer, if they really want top 4, they have just as much work to do as Rodgers.
I am not saying they are bad owners, with bad intentions; No but to me there is a very thin line between being a bad owner and a naive one.
Roy

And we were an FA cup finalists Ash.
Waro is no completely wrong, we are not miles better than we were last year, as many in here have you believe.
we made small positive step can't deny that, but today's game proved one thing, we still can't unlock teams higher up the table than us, and if we are to get top 4 next year (which is a must), then we need to be beating Everton/Spurs/Arsenal and Chelsea at home.

Roy

I fully agree with Waro. This season has not been much of an improvement over last season. Everyone saying how we do not need King Luis because we put 6 past a hopeless Newcastle team need to get their heads checked. It was more to do with them being piss poor, not because our players were brilliant. Sturridge is way over rated on this site. The guy takes too much time on the ball, is selfish like hell and his finishing is not great either.
BR needs to be smart in the summer. please sign some quality and 'value for money' players who can take us to the next level. No more Allens and Borini's who will take a couple of seasons to knuckle down.

The problem is inconsistency. Pro-BR/FSG fans will come on when we have a good win and anti-BR/FSG will come on when we lose or play dire. You all need to stop to-and-froing from one game to the next. Even at the end of the season, points and league position mean little for how we have progressed as a clubon our own, but only how we have progressed as a club in comparison to the teams around us. We will never agree on the progression/regression arguement so I suggest we leave it alone.

We have also conceded more goals.

06 May 2013 09:20:39
Where do I start?

Clueless :Yes
Negative:Yes
Impatient:Yes
Unsupportive:Yes
Fickle:Yes

We have scored 25 goals more with 2 games to go! We have conseeded 2 more goals! We have played some of the best football I have seen for years and years! We have a much much smaller and younger squad than last year! We have improved the wage bill big time and BR is himself improving all the time! The everton game is a derby and everton have lost 6 games all season!

I bet you are one of those bitters who think you are cool! Your negativity is sickning!

06 May 2013 09:35:03
Indian Buzzer you are so clueless mate! Fickle is the word! Stick to cricket mate! didn't even know how you can overrate a guy with 8 goals and 5 assists in less than 10 full games! You don't understand football! Sure he was bad yesterday! But I can tell you about 20 games this season where Suarez was horrible and was much worse than danny yesterday!
Then I read some clown saying people on this site make you believe we are improving! that's the most outrageous BS comment ever! I have never felt positive after reading the banter, most fans here are either children of fifa addicts! Sell everyone, sack Br sell the club!everybody sucks and we will be fighting relegation without Suarez who is the most selfish player ever in a Liverpool jersey! Disagree? You know 0 about football and should get real!

Mr. X

06 May 2013 10:11:34
Mr. X
If suarez is the most selfish player ever to wear a Liverpool Shirt. then what are you going to call sturridge?
He is called by Mr selfish by two of his former clubs.

06 May 2013 10:51:29
Sturridge has 5 assists! that's in 10 games that is! Selfish? Get real! Suarez has 5 assists all season! Sturridge is not as selfish as Suarez even though he is selfish some times! He is far from the finished article and is a great player to have! Why don't you sign your name? I would just tell you that the most important attribute in a striker is a bit of ego! Suarez 30 goals and 8 assists in all competitions prove my point! Half thoose goals btw go and see them you will find out Suarez should have played the pass! Just like sturridge did to henderson! That assist alone shows how unselfish he can be!
Also if we should listen to fickle clueless fans when we sign players, we are doomed!

Also btw, chelsea had to sell him because he wanted to leave and in city well he was 17 and they found oil. stop spouting rubbish!

Mr. X

Mr X your the clueless one.
Did u even watch the derby? We would have probably put 2 past everton had sturridge not been so selfish. All he had to do was slide the ball to coutinho, yet he blasted the ball into the 3rd stand.
As far as Suarez goes, the guy has actually carried the team on his shoulders for a major part of the season. He has earned the right to be the lead man, because he is world class, can't say the same about sturridge can u? Btw name the player who Bayern and juventus r so desperate to sign:
1) Suarez
2) Sturridge

I was not too excited when we got sturridge tbh. A decent player no doubt, but for a team striving for a top4 finish every season and possibly the title, we need to do better. The guy takes one touch too many, which can be damn frustrating to watch.

06 May 2013 11:55:54
Iam the clueless one? Is that why you signed a name? Ridicoulous! He has carried the team on his shoulders? Couldn't diagree more! Read an article the other day that shows without suarezs goals we would be exactly in the same position in the league! I know for some Suarez is untouchable but even ed001 agrees he breaks up a lot of attacks, is very selfish and the team makes him look good!

Then you call me clueless and say something stupid like possibly the title? Mate you are so far off and delusional beyond limits! Iam relastic! And can I call sturridge world class? Not right now but he has the potential to be world class and a lot of his performances for us proves that!

Bayern want suarez sure! Suarez is world class and will be a big miss, but sturridge just signed and can easily be wanted by the biggest clubs in europe in 3 years time! that's how clueless you are mate! Watch the derby? Spent like 800 euros to get to anfield from denmark and back!

Sturridge is a great player, he can be frustrating but I know how frustrating our best player (suarez) can be and I have lost a lot of hair from the frustration Suarez gives me a lot of times! So cut sturridge and the team some slack! And stop acting like you are the biggest expert on the game when you clearly are not!

Mr. X

06 May 2013 12:27:20
Mr. X.
signing your name doesn't make your post looks pretty good. nor it improves our standings.
. dude you are talking about a guy who was not getting a game at chelsea when torres was not scoring for 20 odd matches.
can you believe that?. {Ed002's Note - Of course, he was injured.}

06 May 2013 12:49:21
Is that you harry? No signing a name doesn't do that mate, but atleast it shows am not trying to troll! And that I stand by my opinion and don't fear for diagrees or ridicule because we all have an opinion! The difference is that some opinions are based on football manager and fifa and thoose are kind of ignorant opinions rather than realistic ones! Some opinions are based on the past, those who just can't let go, some opinions are based on nothing other but negativity and slating the manager and player! Some opinions are based on facts and reality!

Sturridge has been playing with little niggeling injuries since he signed and was out for 2 months just before he signed!
Also Sturridge at chelsea was viewed as a wide player, competing for places with mata, Hazard, Oscar! So I understand he pushed for the move to come here and any one denying the fact he is a very good signing is either blind or can't read 8 goals 5 assists in less than 10 full 90 minutes, putting in consideration he has been injured, not fully fit, just arrived, I think we made a great deal! that's a goal or assist each game he has played! How is that bad?

Mr. X

06 May 2013 13:05:51
Mr. X
Sturridge is not a great player. he is a good player and he might become a great player in the future.
But he alone cannot carry Liverpool fc to Top4.
Suarez can and alomost carried.
sturridge plays in the exact same formation at chelsea and Liverpool.
If he was that great he would have got games under his belt at chelsea.
But sure, he is miles better than caroll and borini combined.
Cant believe, Liverpool Fc one of the msot respected and biggest club worldwide is contained with strikers such as borini and caroll?

Reasons to be cheerful part one (roy)
suarez 20 league goals this season
sturridge 7 league goals in 9 app
couthino a joy to watch
defininition of improvment to make or be better ie. 7th is better than eighth
plus 25 goals is better than plus 7
55 points is better than 52 (with still 2 games to go). I know no Liverpool fan is happy finishing 7th and this season we have not improved enough but I hate seeing posts with nothing but negativity when we don't win or even when we win 6-0 its because the opposition were crap I love Liverpool fc and am in crap humour when we don't win but I always try and find some positivity. try listening to our club anthem next time we don't win

06 May 2013 13:28:07
Mr. X
No.
The real harry scousser

05 May 2013 22:30:38
We are 12 points behind arse nal but there is not that much difference with regard to goals. Both sides have scored 67 while arse nal have conceded only 6 less than Liverpool. We are a lot closer to the top 4 thank anyone thinks.
DM2013

LOL yer alright.

We are what we are and that is average no chance of winning top place too many ordinary players and with out suarez a few very lazy ones.

Yes because that's how it works! Just tell Cheslea who used to win the league by winning 1-0 each week. It's points that matter pal, not goals for, goals against or any other individidual stat.

HB

05 May 2013 22:28:22
Sturridge is really frustrating! He has bags of talent and when fired up and got a point to prove there's not many better. However when sturridge feels comfortable he's nothing like the same player.

However when he's good he's awesome so is a great signing. On the other hand poor borini looks like lost sheep. I thought we were crazy to buy him to be honest and I think I was right. I'd make a few changes to our attack in the summer provided we can land the targets:
Out: borini 6-10m
Assaidi 2-5m
Carroll 10-17m
Downing 7-10m

In: eriksen 12-15m
Soldado 10-15m
Gaitan 10-13m

Soldado will be sold for much more than that

06 May 2013 10:12:11
who on earth is going to pay 10 mill for borini?

Liverpool?

Melbourne CFC

Still not as bad as £50 million for Torres.

05 May 2013 22:03:21
Not LFC related but where do you think Michu will be playing his football next season. Jimbo {Ed023's Note - On a pitch}

I heard from a reliable source (my mother's, cousins, friends, uncle's, dog) that this statement by Ed023 is 100% correct. Spot on mate!
DublinRed.

Terrible effort that ed

05 May 2013 22:01:16
Ed's, I know I am probably just being paranoid. but Macca has said that BR is on Man Citys shortlist. These two scouts that moved to Liverpool this week are completely unrelated, right? Cheers {Ed023's Note - Of course.. Rodgers will be LFC manager come August I have every faith in that}

05 May 2013 21:58:48
Hey Eds or Macca,

Tony Evans of The Times has said Johnson will be sold in the summer. Any of you guys know anything? Personally think he's average and on high wages so could make sense.

I hope this is true. One of the worst right backs in the bpl. His lack of effort really pisses me off.

06 May 2013 10:13:20
Indian Buzzer.
true. he would never get into any national team outside england.
Its just the name Liverpool Fc saving his career.
he is deadly awful in defending. deadly

Glen Johnson had a good first half of the season but the second half he has been awful passing poor defending poor heading ability poor decision making poor I think his mind is on his degree he is taking if so give wisdom the right back spot until Kelly ready to play or buy a real defender but Johnson has been the week link in our side for a while now sell recoup some money towards his replacement

06 May 2013 13:20:08
been sayin this for along time mate. he's rubbish

05 May 2013 21:54:46
Hey Ed don't know if you have answered this or not already but the search function is only showing posts from april when I type in fellaini. So my question is with fellaini losing the head and swinging elbows again do you expect the fa to look into this? I would expect a ban and fine of some sort but do you think they will ed? Thanks.
Kopman. {Ed002's Note - No.}

Yeah the search function is pretty useless to be honest.

It's useful when you are looking for your own posts and stuff but with some things like searching for fellaini its not as good but still useful for me anyway. Also ed how can he get away with that? He has been warned an numerous occasions to watch what he does (just like suarez) but yet doesn't learn. Don't mean to sound a moan but that's another thing to add to the list of things you can get away with in the prem! Surely fellaini flipping out is worse than what rafael was sent off for today ed? Thanks.
Kopman.

05 May 2013 21:37:34
Suarez is lokinf forward to next season he's dying to get his teeth into it!

Boom Boom

B. Brush {Ed023's Note - Don't mind the 'pun'}

He's going to tear the league apart!

05 May 2013 20:40:25
Just been through the site and the negativty and player bashing is shocking to say the least!

I'am as disappointed with the result as anyone but their should be limits.
Daniel Sturridge didn't have the best game but the guy has been playing with a niggeling injury since he joined and since he joined he has been nothing short of brilliant! 8 goals 5 assists in 13 games alone speaks for itself! that's a goal or assist each game since joining! With a bit of luck he would have scored and assisted today!
He will be world class next season!

Then Borini, was he expected to hit a hatrick?
He just came back from injury, a long injury and just trained for a week! Anyone with a bit of footballing knowledge knows any player needs 5-6 full games in a row to hit any kind of form! that's why I know Sturridge will be amazing next season because when he is in good form he is Brilliant! And I hope Borini will improve and find form and start games to shut you impatient unsupportive fans up!

We need a complete new team? No we don't! Did everton score 4? I mean its the 15th clean sheet! Johnson, Enrique, Agger can't be that bad! People are talking and slagging them when they did nothing wrong! They need competion for places that's it! Martin Kelly will be back and so will robinson! I would like to see Enrique or Johnson so inconsistent then! They won't be! Kelly can come in at RB and Johnson to LB, or kelly and enrique! All Liverpool need is more consistensy and you get that with a bigger more competitive squad! We are not blessed with the biggest nor the most experienced squad!

Downing I agree with sadly! I try to support every player! But 7 out of 10 attacks break down when he starts an attack! Ok season but far from good enough for me! We need to improve on him because if f. eks sturridge is playing in his place for so many games as downing has played he would have had 20 goals and 15 assists!

So what if Everton finish above us? Do they get medals for that amazing achievment? Or is it still us who have 5 CL titles? Come on! Don't be delusional about the facts! If BR goes next season without finishing in european places or without a title 90% of us will say time up for BR, let alone 10 years! There is no comparisent about the level of ambition!

Mr. X

05 May 2013 22:29:18
Best post of the year by a scouser.

Mr X. take a bow. However, I feel your very fair points will fall on very death ears

Love the positive post but your excuses for Sturridge and Borini don't add up. Sturridge has been great in the past few games but was wasteful, selfish and lacklustre against Everton - everything the Chelsea fans warned us about. We know he has a better game than what he showed us and I agree he will be top class next season.
Borini, however, has yet to produce anything of note. We're all aware of his injuries and he seems to run around a lot but apart from a couple of goals he's done nothing to prove he's worth anywhere near what we paid for him. He needs games in the reserves if he's not up to his best - the first team shouldn't be the place to recuperate and find form.
Give me Assaidi or Sterling over Borini all day every day until Fabio starts contributing more.

Best post I've ever read on this site. Hats off Mr X

06 May 2013 10:18:47
Good post Mr. X.
I would like to add some points.
we need a new RB if Kelly is employed as CB. simple.
or else play 3-5-2 with enrique and johnsons just exploding forward. neither are good in defending.
any average winger can easliy pass both of them.
if you look at the top 4 team above us.
bale, lenon, walcot, mata, silva, nasri, valencia, all those players who plays on the wings would easily get past our full backs.

we also need a striker, can't rely on borini next seaosn. if sturridge fails, we need another one to step in and score that vital goals or atleast some threats.

we also need two top quality wingers on either side.
downing should go.

Moyes has had eleven years to put that team together Rogers has had several months have they beaten us this season Nope progress takes time people it does not just appear over night look at man city won the league spent big lost it this season I bet they will go on to dominate the league for several seasons with a little time they are not the finished article yet as we are not time is of the essence here people be patient and it will arrive

06 May 2013 12:30:10
Moyes has had eleven years to put that team together

this sentence is utter rubbish.
what you think the players who performed has been with everton from past 11 years?
the difference is they controlled the game better. they played actually better.
and we played poor. nothing to do with the time or amount of seetlment with the club.

No you dope he has had eleven years putting a side together that has been able to hold its own in the top 5 of the EPL and may finish above us for only the third time in his reign were as rogers has had only months to put his choice of players together there are some persons who come on this site

05 May 2013 18:42:45
Hy Ed.
As season coming to climax there is not much joy for us lfc
My question is that will lfc spend big to com pete for
Top honours. And which positions are high on rodgers mind
To fill. I hope lfc will sign a top striker a wide player
Two defenders and a creative midfielder.
What's your thoughts on that and also lfc fans.
Thanx. Great site. Keep up the good work.
I am going to participate in my exams. Plz
Pray for me as well. {Ed002's Note - Defence is the priority.}

The season coming to a climax? Title is sorted, relegation is almost sorted, I think the climax has been and gone baring some shocking relegation results

Is the climax away next game at Fulham? Can't wait. {Ed007's Note - Some climaxes can be disappointing, Ed002 is forever moaning at me about it.}

05 May 2013 20:22:33
Everton went out there way at Goodison to show there support for the 96 victims, with great choice of music, everton and Liverpool arm in arm etc ith 96 on back. what did we do, put up a message of thanks only at the same time play you'll never walk alone at full blast. talk about poor relations and bad organisation, surely he ain't heavy he's my brother. and then ynwa. we could learn lot from our neighbours in manners

Are you seriously complaining about that? It was a nice touch and everyone will appreciate it

Ashy

If you can't see the beauty behind playing you'll never walk alone WHILST thanking Everton, I truly wonder how you had the capacity to write this. Surely the message at that point is thank you, and we will never let you walk alone either? You'll never walk alone isn't a closed tribal chant, it's a message to all those who mean something to us that you'll be there for them

05 May 2013 20:21:45
oh give it a break will you.
If you can't see us getting top for next season, its probably because you don't own a crystal ball.
It was a tough game, we learned a lot as a squad, to play against tough teams without Suarez, good performance lads.

With the way things are going, I just can't wait until next season.
Today was a tough game and we were a bit rusty up front, and we can only get better.
Coutihno, my No. 10, no hard feelings cole but the kid wears that jersey like its suppose to be worn. I just can't wait for this kid to grow. Him and Suso are just spectacular.
Next season is just too tasty, win or loose on the last too games, i'm overall happy with Rodgers performance given who he is. And I can only see good things coming this mans way, even city want in on him.

True Fan!

What was good about that performance?

Think its time to cash in on johnson he is one of the weak links

Enrique needs competition as does lucas, we also need to line up gerrards replacement and hendo should be 2nd choice

Dont think allen is goog enough either, downings needs replacing and we need 1 more good striker to keep sturridge on his toes

Alot of work to be done if not then I don't think we'll get top 4 next season in all honesty

Dont you think it's a bit unfair to say Johnson is the weak link but Enrique needs competition? Johnson has no natural competition either atm, just an 18yo CB all years

05 May 2013 19:56:29
I'm sorry but there's no way that that was an own goal by Jones. I don't know how it's being reported as one

Get a life Chris, why you worried about them, you shouldn't even be watching the mancs!

Didn't watch the game, saw the goal on tv and can't believe it's been reported as an OG when it isn't.
When it comes to getting a life, mine is so full it'd make your empty head spin!

I agree with you Chris - wouldn't care normally but Mata is in my fantasy football team so i'm livid!

I didn't manage to catch the game but it must have been pretty awful because everybody is so negative, compare this attitude to just after we beat the toon, brighten up lads, always next season.

Jackoo

More boring than awful

05 May 2013 19:01:08
"Tell you what, coutinho is some player. Will be even better next season when he's more used to PL. Pity he's too smart for sturridge!" Quote from tv footy commentator alistair magowan.

said the same thing about Coutinho and Sturridge after Suarez ban. Sturridge is too direct and not really got a top footballing brain. Suarez has the nouse. We'll see, but Coutinho is a prospect I tell you!

05 May 2013 18:29:00
Sry guyz can't see us getting top4 next season, problems are getting bigger and bigger, first we just needed defence to solve our problems, now we atleast need right winger, midfielder, fullback, and atleast another striker which is impossible to solve all this problems at one go, Rodgers needs to focus on quality players rather then squad players, without europe will make more difficult for him to attract quality neither have pedrigree himself to attract quality which we badly need if we want to compete with arsenal, spurs and everton for top4.

And the money we have spent 8/

05 May 2013 18:22:13
Pertaining to the disallowed goal.

I guess we would have to wait for the referee to clarify. But at the time I thought the foul was by Distin on Carra.

2 hands to the back.

Regardless I would like 2 hours of my life back after that game.

NIKO

I thought it was Anichebe. Wasnt a bad foul but was repeatedly warned not to shove the keeper, and shoved the keeper when Reina backed into him

I didn't think it was a foul at all. And i'm delighted that David Moyes agrees with me

I am actually delighted that the goal was legitimate but disallowed by the ref.
It kinda makes up for the c**p decision made by the linesman at goodison.

Hi eds just a question About the rumours. Posters seem to get frustrated with the constant 'no' replies to questions as to whether we are interested in this player or that so I wondered why u bother posting these on the board. Especially the Torres, cavani, messi, etc which have all been asked and answered before.

Daniellambretta {Ed002's Note - Because folks won't use the search engine. There are plenty which just get deleted.}

05 May 2013 18:00:58
anfield= queit, got outsang by the bitters all day long

sturridge= greedy, clueless, thinks he's better than he is shooting from anywhere. another flop signing

brendon= poor tactics, his philosophy is crap

gerrard= the only positive from today but needs a good replacement

Johnson= don't get me started

borini= big flop, more waste of money

me= going to get drunk and forget about football till next season

05 May 2013 18:45:26
Rodgers philosophy is very difficult to impose in this league, Arsenal haven't won anything since imposed the same philosophy, Epl is very phisical nowdays a lot of teams are strong and play phisically which makes difficult for teams who play tippy tappy, bayern used same tactics against Barca and exposed them very badly that the effects lead to their manager accepting to mix the philosophy with bringing some strong players at Barca, teams who play phisicall can easily counter tippy tappy!

Just a United fan depressed after watching chelsea play them off the pitch.
derryred

If you think this season is bad. Wait until the next.

Sturridge flop signing? He had a bad game but 8 goals and 5 assists already is great {Ed002's Note - It is a Liverpool fan - clearly he did not play well today so the fickle ones want him out.}

Sturridge= takes too many touches of the ball in my opinion. I think he is more suited as a wide player in the front 3 than the centre of a front 3. As a striker I think he delays too much but if he stops doing than like Enrique has and focuses on getting his shots away quickly he will be a better play for me.

Brendan= philosophy has worked in all games bar maybe 4 or 5 games where teams have closed us down quickly and outmuscled us like Stoke.

Gerrard's passes today were unreal as always.

Johnson= has been below his usual standards for a good few games now, hopefully he improves for next season.

Borini= needs to work on his upper body strength and his pace. He's too lightweight for the Premier League right now but he can work on that. Only thing is with him only coming back from a dislocated shoulder he can't strain it too much.

You= have fun!
LS7.

Gerrard= the only positive from today

What? Coutinho, Hendo, Carra and Enrique were superb

Haha, Rafa teaching Fergie yet another tactical lesson. Made my day.

05 May 2013 19:06:25
fergie put a crap team out and they played with no desire at all, they are already champions so won't care but they should put a bit of effort in for their fans

05 May 2013 19:19:39
Rafa a fabulous tactictision I want him back.

Why the post? They are champions, posts like these stink of desperation

I think you're a bit unfair mate, a lot of us have strong feelings for Rafa and enjoy seeing him beat Fergie. There is no doubt if this was Uniteds potentially title winning match, it wouldn't have been so easy and no-one is suggesting otherwise

Rafa (Chelsea) taught Fergie (Man U) a tactical lesson? And Everton fans are bitter? Listen to yerself soft lad

05 May 2013 16:32:10
Hi Ed001

Would love to know what you think of Rodgers decisions today?

Personally I thought the decision to take Hendo off was extremely poor, and we lost our strength in midfield and went on to the back foot.

If anything downing should've been taken off for Borini

Thanks

Mac {Ed001's Note - I would have liked to see Suso come on for Downing, who was very static today on the attack. I did think Hendo had to come off though, he looked shattered and was beaten easily just before purely out of what looked like tiredness. Other than that, I thought his decisions showed a desire to go for a win, as opposed to Moyes, who took off their only player with any skill in order to put another big lump up front to hoof the ball at.}

Sheldon-Was Skrtel on an attacking sub then Ed? And I'd hardly call taking off Mirallas (a winger) for a small striker like Jelavic a cunning plan to continue hoofing it. You're as deluded as the rest. And I trust you'll take this opportunity to abuse me as I won't have the chance to respond. Hypocrite.

I think today again highlighted the fact that we need quite a few players this summer. Lucas was really poor and I seriously pray Rodgers is looking at a DM.
I reckon the most important positions to fill are : CB, DM, RW, LB possibly another ST if possible.
what do you reckon ED001? {Ed001's Note - I didn't think Lucas was poor myself, I fail to see what he did so bad?}

To the second poster, Skrtel coming in was an attacking move, we changed to 3 at the back and allowed Johnson and Enrique to go and stay forward.
I don't agree with Ed001 about Downing (or Suso coming in for Downing), I think Suso would 've been lost, similar to how Coutinho sometime went missing (I do think he done ok, but Everton players did bully him off the ball few times, and they would've done the same on Suso).
But calling someone a hypocrite for expressing a footballing view shows that you sir is a moron.

Roy {Ed001's Note - he is clearly an imbecilic tool with no idea about the game Roy, it was obviously a move to free up the full backs to make use of the space left out wide. As for Suso being bullied, that lad doesn't get bullied, he loves to get stuck in and we needed the change. Downing wasn't needed to help out the fullback, as Everton offered nothing out wide, and he wasn't figuring in an attacking sense today. I just think we could have done with that extra creativity Suso has.}

Skrtle came on to free the fullbacks to go forward more and thus Borini can play more central. So it was kind of an attacking change. Some people dunno how to watch football.

Singapore Red

Skrtel allowed enrique and johnson to push forward on the flanks. It then meant that coutinho went to the wing where he could isolate coleman. We are not going to abuse you lad, it's only banter.
derryred

Sheldon

Bringing Skrtel On was an attacking substitution! It left us with 3 at the back and allowed Johnson and Enrique to push higher up field. Try learning a little about football before coming onto a banter site and spouting rubbish. Noob!

Kopite 81

Thanks for the response Ed

Would you agree that we need replacements for gk, both full backs, cb? And competition/ replacement for Lucas?

Thanks

Mac {Ed001's Note - it is a shame Kelly has had injuries, he might well be the answer at cb, but we don't know yet. Enrique is so frustrating, he takes so many chances in the wrong areas, it is always going to end badly. It is all very well trying something, but do it in the attacking third, otherwise it is just an unnecessary risk! I am sure that Coutinho (for instance) probably loses the ball as often as Enrique, but he is taking his chances in the opposition's final 3rd. So when it comes off for him, it usually leads to a chance on goal and when it doesn't, it leaves the opposition 50 yards to cover to get a chance. Whereas Enrique is taking chances on the ball in our defensive 3rd, where it is pointless and dangerous to us. We need to replace him. Johnson just annoys me, so much ability, naturally gifted footballer, but his head seems to be completely empty. I remember everyone used to put the blame on his hair, moan about him being too busy fixing that to concentrate. He shaved it off and he still doesn't concentrate! If it was possible to sort out his head, he would be a superb player, instead of just showing flashes of ability. As it stands, he is just not what we need. So yes, both full backs, centre back and competition for Lucas, though gk is a difficult one. On form, Reina is a top keeper, but he has not been on form since Rafa poached his coach for Inter, is it time to move on? I don't know, it really depends on whether we can get a better option in or not.}

I don't think Jelavic is a big lump, therefore i'm a 'noob'? How old are you, 6?

Sorry but Lucas marked Fellaini out of the game in all open play all day, how is that not doing well?

Above poster is completley wrong. Been saying it for a while now and only now are people begining to realise it. Lucas really isn't that good.

He's a CDM but what does he offer?

Passing?
No - yes good completion rate but they are all 5 yards! He drops so deep he's playing as an extra cb when he gets the ball! what's the point? The cb can do that job!

Tackling?
Average at best - I'll admit each game we get 5/6 decent tackles/interceptions from him but it really isn't often enough! There's also the issue that he fouls far too often! How he escapes bookings is beyond me - find myself questioning how he hasn't got a yellow nearly every game! Add to this so many fouls he commits are in dangerous positions he really is somewhat of a liability.

Mobility?
Not particularly. Doesn't exactly get up and down. Look at Henderson, there's a bundle of energy and somebody who could offer a lot, lot more than Lucas. We don't need an out and out CDM - why not just Henderson & Gerrard?

Shooting?
Just no.

CHickey.

Please sell borini. He is rubbish. He really is poor

He's stealing a wage. The lad should be done for fraud. Sell him for horse meat or something.

£414m spent in a decade, over 3 times more than Everton, and still in our shadow.

05 May 2013 18:09:54
"in our shadow" maybe over doing it slightly, two seasons finishing above us does not make you Barcelona!

Boring now i'm afraid, no bluenose could possibly be deluded enough to think that. How many trophies have you won in those ten years? Thought so. Bell

1995, ring any bells?

Your shadow? Another game without a win at anfield. Tell me when u get close to a cup

"in our shadow"
==============

It must painful for you Everton fans, however hard you try and however well you do, you still end up with nothing, look two seasons you finished above us, and still can't even make it to the junior European competition. It must hurt whenever talks of football in Liverpool, the only club that gets mentioned is ours, all the analysts and pundits will tell you there is only one big club in the city and its not Everton.

05 May 2013 17:07:07
i think we need to replace Downing, Johnson, skertal, agger, and get a better left back or buy a left back and put enrique at left midfield because he played really good when he was pushed up and he scored, so you can say that's downing's position taken care of, for all agger is he really does not instill confidence in me the same goes for reina, we should bring the best under 21s through or buy quality as I don't see the reason of spending a lot of money on potential as we have loads in our younger ranks, we need players who have already got it, so at least we can challange, and ashley williams won't help us get in the the top 4, look where swansea are

onto the match I could not see why he took henderson off, he should have taken sturridge off, he is so greedy he could have slipped in 2 players in better positions to score and he never he tried to shoot, they were in beeter positions than him and he does that, anyway I should be used to it by now because downing has done it for 2 seasons

untill we replace the ones I have put in this post we will not get anywhere near the top 4

05 May 2013 17:05:44
well yet again a lack lustre performance, I've said it a dozen times this season that G Johnson is the worse RB I've seen at LFC for many a year.
Useless defending and getting worse going forward, to many misplaced passes etc, he goes about the pitch like he doesn't give a toss to be honest.
Downing is poor, can't beat a man can't pass a decent ball etc.
Lucas for me is struggling, I persoannly would move him on and put agger in his place as he also is now a poor defender, good ball player I admit.
There is no co-hesion within the team from front to back, to many poor balls and wasted oppurtunities etc.
We need to tall mobile commanding C halves who can defend a ball and are positionally good, RB i'd allow Kelly to take on and sell johnson as he is useless.
We defo need another forward and creative mid as we seem devoid of ideas and we are clueless in attack. We will always beat the poorer teams who allow us to play but we cannot compete against the more stubborn teams i'm afraid.
If the management cannot see the faults and shortcomings within this current team then they also need to move on.
Im sick of all the transition need another season crap as its been 20 odd now, I can see the problems and i'm sure most sensible supporters on here can see it too.
Sorry about the bitching but someone has to put this mediocre side into perspective don't you think?LFC always, Scouse Red.

I agree that johnson should go, and only for there being no better option at left back at the minute I would sell Enrique.

What is it with Anichibe? what a whinger!

05 May 2013 16:39:27
We have only ourselves to blame for not scoring today, when put through Sturridge greedily shot when we had an open attacker in a much better position to just slot it past the keeper, someone should have a word! he di it 2/3 times!

05 May 2013 16:02:33
See Howard Webb on at Old Trafford today, it must be his 10th game this season. That guarantees him a medal now.

Surely u're right mate!

Well he's got more medals than our lot are ever likely to get

hi eds, instead of everybody asking you about certain players, is there any thing that you know that would be of interest of the fans. thanks for you time and there work you put in. will knotty ash {Ed002's Note - Tough to know what would interest the fans. When I was at University back in Berkeley in the 1970s I must of picked up some interesting tidbits that might be something the fans want to hear about. I had the lost summer of 1974 with Father Yod and The Source Family down in LA, I could recount the occasional story from there.}

05 May 2013 15:48:50
Everton manager David Moyes on Sylvain Distin's disallowed goal: "I don't want to be a whinging manager but we scored a legitimate goal today - it should have counted. "

He's always a whinging manager!
So should Suarez's goal at goodison!
DM2013

Suarez should never have been on the pitch for his diss aloud goal at goodison, he almost broke distind ankle and performed a nasty challenge from behind on mirallas, he should have been sent off, what did distin do wrong, nothing, he scored a perfectly good goal.

whats your excuse now as the home team you didn't take the game to us at all, just a little 5 min spell in the 2nd half, embarrassing for a team who has again spent over 50m in transfers this season and are struggling big time to get in the top 6, what a joke of a football club

The difference with the Saurez goal at Goodison, was that he should have been sent off 20 minutes prior to it. Another dodgy Ref in favour of Liverpool yet again today!

You forgot to mention Clive Thomas
and Hansen's handball, but not to take the shine off your day buddy, you truely are the 6th best out of 20 teams in the Premier League and thoroughly deserved

Still, 6th is better than 7th no?

Well now I know why their called the bitters.

Weres your " We would have won the european cup if it wasn't for you (Liverpool) " shout you normally bore the arse off everyone with?

Heres one for ye,

How many Evertonians does it take to change a lightbulb? None, they would sit in the dark and blame Liverpool!

05 May 2013 21:37:59
Well that joke was poor, Everton do have a lot to blame you for. Yet again another kopite who can't take abit of banter, and ed please post this as it is a banter site.

05 May 2013 15:28:05
Downing has to go such a boring player slows play down can't beat a player.

05 May 2013 16:05:38
He's still not as bad as Johnson. What a liability he is. If we can get rid this summer we should. joed.

05 May 2013 15:37:54
I think as you can see we need another striker! Gerrard was right! We only have sturridge and suarez while borini isn't good enough!

I'd move Carroll and borini on and replace with soldado. I'd say he will cost 10-15m.

05 May 2013 15:37:42
Worst derby ever!we looked so clueless without suarez our final ball was very poor tim howard didn't make any important save. I really don't know why this clueless brendan never moves gerrard into an advanced positon anytime we are struggling upfront. he looked dangerous the few times we went forward.
No offense sturridge is very annoying he hardly presses the defenders he plays like he's messi or something?only coutinho did anything sensible upfront. we need two more top strikers to challenge for top 4 next year. please hendo and downing are good players but they aren't good enough to start regularly. Why did you bite Ivanovic suarez why?now we still have eight more games without you

I see no mention of the perfectly legitimate goal Distin scored. You lot were frothing at the mouth when it happened to ratboy at GP. Though I agree it was a dire spectacle, Everton were robbed of 3 points. Guess we're even, eh?

No you're wrong Distin fouled the defender to reach the ball the ref blew before the goal was scored so you' wrong sorry.

Redgeorge- utter nonsense! Yes the ref blew before, but for a perceived foul against big Vic, nothing to do with Distin. But then I guess your #7's teeth were offside at GP? I can accept #7's goal should have stood at GP, but you can't accept Distin's should have stood. You're deluded, my friend, but that's not really a surprise.

Distin used carra back to elevate him into a position to head the ball in. Like it or not that is a foul, and no goal.

Oh and coates didn't use jags like a ladder to head that ball down to Suarez. please don't be a hypocrite

Lets be honest with ourselves Distin scored a legitimate goal, so did Suarez - it's even. To be fair I wish Distin's goal was allowed, the game needed a goal to liven it up - as it was it was the worst derby I can remember. No team deserved to win just as at Goodison no team deserved to lose.

Last year: 8th place and a cup. (+Kenny)

This year 7th place. Yet more millions spent.

For nothing!

Oh the progress.

Freddie the Dreamer

More points than last season equals progress.

Cool roll on 6th place next year

Kennys defence of saurez was inexcusable he thinks he is above the law and think he took us back five years and was glad to see back of him

Kenny was right to back suarez and kenny was unfairly treated

30 points BEHIND Man U. Yeah that's progress.

05 May 2013 15:37:17
I think we need a out and out goal scorer
The chances suarez and countinho create need to be buried for me sturrage and borrini are not that at the top level you need to get your shot off first time
Who we can get I don't know answers anyone

Borrini will never be at the "top level" a wasye of money that could of been better invested. I would still give Carrol a chance as he would show more fight & determination than either Borrini & Sturridge.

05 May 2013 15:30:34
Too many Liverpool players not up for the dearby. Sturridge had a laid back attitude all game, and thought he had way to much time. he's far too inconsistent so purchasing a striker like remy in the summer would add rotation and competetion. Enrique always seems like he's under an ernomous amount of pressure once he recieves the ball. Even when there isn't a player near him. I am not sure what borini actually brings to the table so someone will have to help me on that one. let's be honest, he's been unlucky with injury but does anyone really think he'll make any sort of contribution? Gerrard was immense and we where never really troubled at the back. Boring game and a boring result, let's hope fulham and qpr games produce 6 points.

Borini's runs are clever as hell, he draws defenders out of position creating space for others. Your ire should be aimed at Sturridge who failed to score a 1 on 1 chance and, at least 4 times, failed to pass to team mates making penetrating, dangerous runs. Oh, and his chasing of the ball was terrible as was his need to have 7 touches every time he got it. Sturridge was one of the worst players on the pitch yesterday - Borini is just what Lucas used to be, as easy target. Its pathetic.

well was that the worse derby game between those 2 sides ever?

05 may 2013 15:22:57
that was disgraceful, that's as good as we really are without suarez. forget that newcastle result where you all thought we were world beaters. on another note the world was watching today and both clubs showed utter class and made it clear why merseyside hosts the best football on the planet

The best disgraceful football on the planet, right?

Well done carra top man great player and legend

Carra a ledgend, Stevie G always 100% plus, so sad & unfortunate neither one will lift the premier league title, We just don't have what it takes. Very sad.

Yes Carra you were awesome, the way you er. er. er. oh yes did f8ck all but got highlighted on tv all the time

We play way too deep when Carra plays, so I thank him for his service and look forward to playing with an higher line next season

05 May 2013 15:21:31
Jose Enrique when will you ever learn, you need to start looking up when running with the ball at your feet.

I can't count the amount if times Enrique has given the ball away when in the final third of the oppositions half.

Enrique looked knackered for the last 30 mins!

05 May 2013 15:48:35
My friend, he is not alone, Johnson has the same problem. The manager has to address this problem I think, for us to reach our level next season- being having a word with them or some sort of giving them competitions for their positions.
I'v said this before, not just after this game. All the same not a good game but we should just enjoy the pleasure of watching a bpl match till the season ends when we will be missing it.
Cheers

05 May 2013 15:21:20
why does fellani never get called up for his elbows, he always uses them. hope he can get sited for it, starting to annoy me! apart from that a fairly low key, dull and disappointing game! still onwards and upwards

ben

Well boo hoo, its ok when super stevie opens his fat god calling the ref all kinds, kicking osman in the head then crying over every challenge, I saw he got your mom today, if he is the best you have to offer then you really are in trouble, many millions spent again and wihtout rat boy you havnt a clue

That was a feeble attempt at a wind up/troll there. if that was suarez that had done it i'm sure all you bitters would be calling for his head. that's an interesting comment about my mum seeing as she lives in london and was talking to her during the game so I think its unlikely, are you 5 years old? I would love to see how you fare next year as well, you can say goodbye to moyes this summer and with that your only decent player fellani and all hope trying to sign quality players. try not to get relegated next year.

05 May 2013 14:28:39
People on here saying that players need to cost 30/40 mil to be good. Liverpool were never a club to buy the biggist names the make players not buy him. Torres was around 25 mil and made his worth for a while then sold for 50. Suarez 22 mil worth 30-40 min. would love to see the likes of erikson come if it were possible young but plenty of room to improve.

I like STURRIDGE but he really needs to lose this attitude he has were he cnt b asked closin down
And too many flicks and showin off can be really frustrating at times

Basy

05 May 2013 14:20:07
Can't believe we are this clueless without suarez. if sturridge isn't scoring tap ins he isn't very useful for the team

05 May 2013 14:16:58
what a shockingly bad game! a bore 0-0 all over it.

Limpy

I predicted a bore 0-0 the worst derby game I have ever seen. What a waste of time this game was. The season has ended with a whimper.

More rubbish next season.

Limpy

05 May 2013 14:11:56
Sturridge does not have the killer instinct we need from a forward. Takes far too long on the ball.

05 may 2013 14:00:41
why are we playing so defensive

05 May 2013 14:00:48
Liverpool having a Gerrard Day today,
the lads up for it.

Yes long ball after long ball over the top just gives possesion away

05 May 2013 13:52:28
Sturridge is a donkey, he's starting to think he's Ronaldo ffs. coutinho playing well and he never puts him back into goal scoring position. I think everton have showed why they are above us so far

05 May 2013 13:49:55
Always difficult these games against Wimbledon

Lol.

Crowman.

Yea mate, whatever. I didn't see the Dons creating the most chances in the top 5 European leagues when they were playing hoofball.

"Yea mate, whatever"
Not sure I can compete with that sort of cutting retort!

05 May 2013 13:16:59
UGGHHHH. Didn't know carragher was an everton fan, good riddance I say from the blue nose, glad he's going. I always thought he was one of us.

YNWA

I hope that's a joke.

KiwiRed

No - Carragher is the joke - TG he's going!
A. Moran

Village must be quiet today?

Hey watch what you say about Saint Jamie around here mate, his disciples will be buliding a wicker man outside your house. 1 down 2 to go, thankfully

And the wicker man will probably have a better 1st touch

The Marsh Lane crew will hunt you down mate. C C C

05 May 2013 12:54:07
Hope we beat the Bitters today! It doesn't matter how ugly it gets, so long as we win! We should aim to leapfrog them by the end of the season! YNWA

Leapfrog them in our dreams

Same team confirmed as newcastle game. For everton anichibe starts up front ahead of jelavic

05 May 2013 12:33:12
Eds fellow reds, I know Luis has said he wants to stay which is great, but do you see fsg wanting to sell him in the summer {Ed002's Note - We should perhaps wait and see what happens when the various offers are made.}

05 May 2013 12:02:49
Man City told it would cost at least £16mil compensation fee to take Brendan Rogers away from Liverpool. Roberto Mancini will 100% be leaving city in the summer. Rafa Benitez and Michael Laudrup also on city's managerial wish list.

Dan Edgar

Rafa off to shalke

05 May 2013 11:44:18
From German press : Bayern preparing a double swoop for Lewandowski and Suarez. The reported bid in the region of 30 million Euros - about £25 million -

I take it the 30 million euros you're suggesting is for Suarez which will certainly be rejected without even a moments hesitation.

Davey Sulls

Almost certain to be accepted

30 million good deal to get rid of that problem

'That problem' has been the major force behind our league position and if you get rid then 7th would just be a dream

05 May 2013 11:41:40
With Brendan Rodgers on the shortlist for Man City I believe Rafa is on the short list to take over at LFC.

YNWA

Oh god I do hope so, Fat spanish waiter the gift that never stops giving (To Utd)

Everton have more to play for today, they are still in with a chance of European football. And to be really honest, there is a part of me that would rather see Everton in Europe than Liverpool win a Mersyside battle for finsihing 6th and 7th. This is not good enough for LFC, while I accept we are in a rebuilding period I'm dissapointed with our league position. If you compare the league position of the Toffies and compare the investment in both clubs I feel I have to applaud the achievements of Moyes and not Rodgers.

Yeah except its Rodgers 1st season u clown

No prices for guesses who you support.

The real AG

Give Rodgers 10 seasons and we will see what he wins.
derryred

Rebuild still never took this long to rebuild europe after second world war

05 May 2013 10:55:15
Bring on the game today, really looking forward to it. the talk from everton fan's is of a power shift, by the end of the game they'll realise who the undisputed top dogs in the city are. It's going to be a red hot atmosphere for carra's last derby, what better way of bowing out than with a very very rare goal, stranger things have happened before.

05 May 2013 09:42:25
Suarez is staying. Looks like we have lost supporters who wanted him out of the club, because of the shame he brought on the club, oh well, onwards and upwards, hope the team can preform without those supporters support.

Tilwud

Ha Ha Ha Ha, We won't lose real supporters over this!

Or maybe Liverpool and Suarez have agreed not to let the value of him fall by saying they want to sell him in the summer? I would not bet against a substantial bid for him in the summer and for him to leave.

05 May 2013 11:02:19
Not releated. I am out at the mimute so I don't know if this has been picked by the tv yet, but gerrard is a major doubt for today, tight hamstring.

Hi eds why is there so much hype over gareth bale I don't get it? One decent season and he's as good as ronaldo and messi am I missing something? Just thought i'd ask your opinion ajh 316

Your missing everything. He was very good at Southampton as a full back, has been excelent at Spurs since he hs been there, allready had awards from season before last, continues to improve year in. Just becaue he doesn't play for us does'nt mean we can't appreciate him.
Bitterness because Suarez won nothing is pointless, he won nothing because he's an person. He just happens to be a great player.

Hes won back to back pfa awards. that's 2 seasons. he's carried spurs
5 gold stars

Bale has never won the award back to back. RVP won last year.

Now let's not get too far ahead of ourselves, Bale is a good player never a £60m player as quoted by Levy but good none the less. But he was a truly dreadful full back.

always a red

I am not bitter about suarez missing out on anything just trying t get my head round the hype as good as messi and ronaldo. Really? Ah316

Hi, Eds, Its been a while for me. Any news about Liverpool scouting Gabriel Agbonlahor? I know, he isn't a so called 'star' but he is a rather good player, and he's is english!

Ratan. {Ed002's Note - Not that I am aware.}

Please no he only ever looked good with ashley young there are better options available i'd like Liverpool to try and sign redmond from birmingham I think he could be a star in the making with the right guidance

05 May 2013 03:01:48
Re: Suarez. He has decided to stay, let's support his rehab. Understand that he is a wrong un, but give him another chance as he is member of our family. You don't throw your bro or sis out. Time to look forward, stand tall and accept the fall out but move on and not be distracted or belittled anymore.
Red first & last.

Ed002, In terms of the new tv deal which kicks in next season. How much extra will this be worth to Liverpool per season? Cheers.

The Irish Rover {Ed002's Note - Perhaps £50M or so.}

And before people ask that's not 50million for transfers exclusively

£50 million extra per season ed? So that alone would wipe out the £50 million loss Liverpool have made over the last few seasons? Surely that will loosen the purse strings in the Summer?

The Irish Rover {Ed002's Note - No IR, the losses have been £50M per season. The purse strings have been loose which is why the losses are so high.}

Bad grammar ed. I understand that the losses are per season. I mean, going forward the £50 million extra tv revenue per season should take care of any loss in the future. Plus the reduction in the wages must be a benifit to future money being made available for players.

The Irish Rover {Ed002's Note - It is not really how the finances of the club work. The additional income simply becomes part of the income of the club. It is entirely unrelated to the spending on players.}

If anything it will probably just mean agents and players will be paid a lot more in future.

MIKEY {Ed002's Note - This is why it is best to avoid discussion of money. It confuses everyone.}

05 May 2013 02:49:47
Eds,
Not a rumor or ridiculous story just a question. Are player plus cash deals being pushed out gradually or are they unfeasible to certain clubs, or are clubs just not interested in making such deals anymore? Can't remember the last time I've seen a player plus cash deal actually going through.
Just something I've been thinking about because of all these stories about such deals happening.
Great site by the way.

Galway Red {Ed007's Note - As you say mate, how common are these sort of deals? They are all in the head of the FIFA/FM fanboys, real fans, and people who understand football, know it is all BS made up in idiots heads because they work out on their X-Box. Anything mentioning player + cash deals is best ignored.}

So javier Hernandez plus cash for Ronaldo is not going to happen.

Kopping a feel

Didn't Ibra go to Barcelona in a cash plus player deal which involved Eto'o going the other way?

If the rumours are true about rÀfa going to psg, then its rafa chelsea - psg, ancelloti psg - real madrid, mourinho real madrid - chelsea, talk about mery go round in football!
Its going to be 1 of the most intersting summers ever, in terms of transfers of players and managers! Wish it was august already, but there's a certain derby to be won 1st! COME ON U REDMEN! 3-1 stevie the score the 1st, and the little magican that is Couthinhoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo will score the last! Y--N--W--A

Hope newcastle go down. We could take sissoko off there hands for £5m or so. Big powerful runner in the middle. I know we were interested under Kenny and Comoli.

04 May 2013 22:26:36
Eds and reds.

Can any1 help please. When do we find out who gets the Europa spots through fair play? Also, I have been trying to find a stats web page to show the current rankings to who is in line to get them. Does any1 know where to look on the web?

Cheers

Jimerny cricket

We are there as long as England rank in the top three which currently we are fourth.
Oh and as long as we don't let Suarez play for rest of the season which the FA has kindly assisted with ( Sorry I meant their completely impartial independent on no way affiliated or payed team)

Kopping a feel

You need to google 'desperate to qualify even if we're not good enough'. That should do it.

Hi ed's, how are you guys this weekend? you just seem to get a lot of abuse of here and no-one seems to post just to ask about your wellbeing. Well, my concern overtook me so I decided to ask, are you guys feeling good? Both in general and about the Derby tomorrow? {Ed007's Note - I am feeling terrific thanks, it was my birthday and International Star Wars Day, what else could you want in life? The LFC eds are all in the midst of a drunken punch-up with the Norwich Ed about who is the bigger club, wedgies are involved and Ed001's underwear is like a WW2 parachute silk, it is not pretty!!
I am sitting on the fence for the derby and going for Everton to win 18-13 in extra-time. All joking aside I am looking forward to the game, I fancy you to win but without Suarez....and then you think of your result last week...hhhmmmmm I will say an LFC win, 3-1.}

04 May 2013 21:05:35
We don't neccassarily need champions league football to pull players to the club. If brendan can develop Liverpool and garner a reputation for good man management, particularly with youmger players, by giving them either a chance to make the big time or a chance (like in sturridges case) spark their careers up again.

Players such as youngsters and rejects will look at Liverpool fc and look at it as a place where they can prosper.

Anonymous wooback

Youngsters and rejects, is this really your expectations nowadays?

AJH

I think so called 'youngsters' and 'rejects' are exactly the players we should be going for, we can't afford ridiculously priced players and why would we want them. I would much rather win the league in the same fashion as dortmund rather than bayern any day, hopefully we won't sell all our players though
