Hi eds, i personally think kenny got the team selection spot on today but team tactics were totally wrong, no closing down no energy but it all changed when carroll came on but it was 55 minutes too late. Missed oppurtunity today imo, chelski were there for the taking, roll on next season, not sure on the king though time to move on i think!!

Right first thing first am a passionate red and a realistic one , I want Liverpool to be invincible I want us to dominate world football again just like yourselves.

However it's not just been the last 2-3 years we've been bad which people seem to think , we've not been good enough for the last 15-20 years apart from the odd season here and there.

Now the club needs stability and we won't achieve that by swapping and changing managers every god damn year , now lets atleast give kenny 2-3 years to try and build something.

Now patience is a virtue , give the bloke the time he deserves instead of attacking the staff/players at every opportunity given.

I know it's hard watching other teams enjoy success while we sit in awe , but we will never get back to the good times if we just sit here and become bitter of our rivals and shoot down the staff/players.

Get behind Kenny and the players show your god damn support and be patient if you can't restrain yourself from being patient for a year or two please try and restrain yourselves from ranting your complete and utter bulls**t on here every day.

Thank you

Tom.

Great post, simply great.
AnfieldUSA

Actually you're the one ranting, mate.

Intelligent people make changes when something is not working. That's why Chelsea, for instance, is now a winning team.

Get this in your thick head..
Kenny the legend is separate from Kenny the manager.Start thinking from your head..
we are 34 points behind league leaders. Won 5 at home with 43 goals scored. This team has been assembled with spending of 100 M+.
THIS IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH.

But kenny wont be here next season. Did u not see Mr Henry's face after we lost? The writing is on the wall mate. Lets appoint a young manager who can be with us for the next 10-15 years. My wish is Michael Laudrup. No matter how much u support kenny, it will not stop Mr Henry from telling him to step aside.
Indian Buzzer

At last some realsm.Well said Tom.
KJS

Well, We have been waiting for Jay Spearing to be world class just like Stevie G, but u know its damn 6 years now... how much longer can we wait... Jay Spearing is crap.... we CAN'T KEEP HIM IN THE TEAM & BACK HIM ANY MORE...

If we can stuff Chelsea in the league game, it will be small consolation. Come on Carroll!

Well kenny to I think it's fair to say that we can look back at this season now. What I saw this season was bad signings, some good, inconsistency, some performances that were embarrassing and not at all what should expected of such a great club. Also luck has not been great and it showed today. We got to two finals and won one. So it shows there is potential there. But truth be told we need a big overhaul, a lot of transfer activity in and out. Times are changing fast and we need to stop looking at the future. The future depends on now and past glories are sadly in the past. We need to catch up before we fall behind even further. I really hope these owners bring us back to where we belong..... The best club in the world!

Ed 10022. Re your comment about Di Matteo kissing bum. Why are you all becoming delusional or jealous? Chelsea were losing with AVB. Now they have the FA cup and are in the Champions league final. What have we got? Penalties against Cardiff and 9th in the league.
Delusional.
The manager makes a difference. {Ed022's Note - I have no issue with the managerial position etc, but I'm stating fact. AVB went in there and tried to change things for the long-term by sacrificing the short-term. Di Matteo was then given an opportunity to bolster his career so decided to focus JUST on the short term and sacrifice the long-term by kissing the arses of senior players and pretty much letting the senior players dictate everything.}

Bravo!! Ed22

Don't let Ed2 find out you said that!!!!

Lyndon {Ed002's Note - I am pretty sure he will hide his strange thoughts from me.}

05 May 2012 23:29:36
I really hope the players, who count medal tallies as a measure of success, now look back on their career and believe 2011/12 was a successful year. After all, their medal count is more important than the view of the humble fan.

GoodKopBadKop

They don't even look at medal count anymore. Nowadays it's how much money you have in the bank over medals

05 May 2012 23:25:06
ed where can i find player profiles, can u send me a link please thanks {Ed022's Note - www.player-profiles.co.uk mate.}

Haha. just checked the site out for the first time and read the first page. lol i must say that was the cheesiest introduction i have read in a long time but it does the job none the less. {Ed022's Note - Haha I do apologise mate, I had to make it cheesy I'm afraid! Feel free to drop me a comment or something mate and let me know your thoughts!}

Lot of talk on here about AVB. It was reported a while back that he was under consideration for the LFC job, I think it was after Rafa left possibly? Anyway, Liverpool are a club in transition, have owners and a board who are obssessed with youth development and signing younger players. This is a philosophy AVB believes in and started at Chelsea but he and his beliefs were never backed. For this reason, and after reading what Ed022 has said about a younger manager with PL experience, I think he would probably be a strong contender for the job, even though his PL managerial experience is limited, he worked as a technical analysist for Jose Mourinho during his reign at Chelsea so he knows the league. I think he would take it if he was offered it, plus he'd want to show Chelsea exactly what he can do. I think with the right support from board level, from a supportive DoF and the right coaching team, I actually think he could be the right man to take us forward.

But, until then, we should all rally around and give the team and the manager 110%. After all, it is them who currently represent our great club. YNWA

Marshy {Ed022's Note - He is my first-choice by a long way to be honest.}

Ed022 has no idea what he's on about to be honest.

AVB didnt gain the respect of the Chelsea senior players and showed that he wasnt able to cope with big time players.

From what I have heard Carragher and Gerrard run the show in the liverpool dressing room and I dont think AVB for all his skills, will be able to deal with it and command respect.
{Ed022's Note - I have no idea what I'm talking about? AVB didn't gain the respect of senior players because he was trying to usher in the foundations for the long-term for Chelsea, rather than focus on the short-term. I agree with you that Gerrard and Carragher are difficult to deal with, but as AVB proved at Chelsea, he doesn't care, and he has the balls to actually drop players if they aren't playing well enough regardless of history etc.}

I wouldn't have put him as my first choice initially Ed022, but when you consider what FSG want to do in regards to youth development, signing younger players etc, his appointment would make complete sense due to him sharing the same philosphy. I would like to see a manager who will command respect of the team and at times, it seemed as if he couldn't do that at Chelsea but he wasn't given the backing from the hierachy. Plus, the number of egos within that Chelsea squad is ridiculous. All in all, I think he'd be the best appointment for us. But as I said, until (or even if) Kenny leaves, as a Liverpool fan, I will give him my full support.

Marshy

I think AVB would definitely be on any short-list to replace KK.

RedSG

Martinez gets my vote way ahead of AVB.

No I disgree Ed022. I believe it came down to his age and lack of experience.

If Mourinho had come in and dropped Lampard and did all the things AVB did the players wouldnt have turned against Mourinho as they did AVB. Its purely down to age...senior players dont have the same respect for him due to him being similar age to them.

No way would AVB be able to come into liverpool and deal with Gerrard or Carragher especially if results weren't going well.

Anyway he hasnt exactly shown he is capable of producing results in the league has he?

He lost far too many games for my liking and didnt seem to know how to manage Drogba/Torres or Lampard.

AVB in a few years will be perfect yes but not now he's far too young.

Benitez all day every day...i dont care if its a step back, a step forward, sideways shuffle or the running man, he is a beast of a manager and would turn us into a formidable force once again.

Its a non-issue as to who should be next manager, it really is.

Benitez proved he couldn't get us where we wanted to be. He had plenty of time and money. If we re - appoint him we'll be stuck with him for 5 years and be fighting for scraps for the forseeable future. Stick with kenny for another season at least, see how he does, or until a manager becomes available who can take us beyond scrapping for 4th.

If we are going for a young manager then AVB is right up there and would be the long term fix , also consider Rodgers and Martinez
YNWA

Personally I'd love AVB and give him the time for long term rebuilding. I don't think Gerrard and Carra would be a problem though because they want the best for the club and we've struggled for a good few years now and they'd be more likely to give him a chance that the players at Chelsea who are more used to recent success.

many people think the ball wasnt over the line because it was slightly behind the goal post/bar on the best camera angle they had. the camera line appeared to be on center with the goal line.

but that was a camera view from very slightly in front of the goal.

if the camera was very slightly behind the goal, the ball would appear over the line, way past the post/bar

point is. it was a goal. perspective can mess with ya.

A ball is roughly 8 inches in diameter and a goal line is roughly 2 inches wide, for a goal to stand all of the ball(all 8 inches) have to be across all of the line. The camera angle was near enough in line with the goal and the posts are the same width as the goal line. So if it was a goal you'd see all of the ball or near enough of it for it to count as a goal, at best you could see 4 inches which means it was about 4 inches short of being a goal. Unlucky these things happen. When they gave Luis Garcia's "ghost goal" i'm sure you were on here stating that the ref had robbed Chelsea and you didn't deserve to win? No you probably came out with the line luck evens its self out over a season or you deserved abit of luck against Chelsea, the thing with luck is there are two sides of it, today you got the bad side, suck it up and deal with it.

Shappy

It wasn't a goal

Chris in Tamworth

The thing is if Mata's goal stood against the Spuds, then this should have too. I think the goal line technology should be implemented.

HK

It doesnt matter if it was or it wasnt! i personally think it was a goal, but at the end of the day it wasnt given! so instead of arguing about it we just gotta accept it and move on, there are many other things we could say contributed to our downfall! maybe if we had turned up for the first 60 mins of the final then it might have been different aswell!

05 May 2012 23:17:06
hey ed022

personlly who do you think will leave?

and who do you think will sign?

please answer, it dosnt matter if your wrong , just curious ,

thanks and keep up the great work {Ed022's Note - I have been asked this question 7 times tonight. I can safely say that I've just answered it on player-profiles, but if not scroll through the pages and you'll see it mate.}

I just looked but cant find it? {Ed022's Note - I'd say it is likely that Aquilani, Cole, Aurelio, Kuyt, Doni, Maxi and Pacheco will leave. I'd hate to say who will probably sign, but the people I think Liverpool have a good chance of signing are Elm, Soldado, Phillips, Isla and perhaps Susaeta.}

Great performance by Andy Carroll when he came one such a shame it too late in the game, KD got the tactics wrong!! everyone could see the effort was there!

Poor motivation, Poor tactics!

Fabio Capello?

He's recently stated that he'd like a challenge in the Premier League and with us seemingly looking for a new manager...

Certainly not my first choice but his club record is rather impressive I believe? Just a thought.

Thanks,
AK.

Wants to stay in London

I think every1 watching except king kenny realised Big Andy shouldI have come on in the first half. I think he dare not upset people incase it breaks their confidence. We could have won if he'd been on at half time. The goal that was disallowed was too close to be given without goal line technology although looked to be over the line.

I think Andy should go to the euro's because if we come up against a team like Spain we'll have a threat that they are not used to. Barca couldn't break down Chelsea (unlucky) but Andy pinned them back and they couldn't cope.

In the first 10 - 15 games of the season jose Enrique was our best defender but recently has been playing poorly. Have seen every1 one here's opinion on Spearing (who was poor) but Enrique was clueless. Gerrard couldn't play because he was too worried about Henderson and Spearing.

I hope we do much better next season cos we can't be much worse. Hopefully

Could do with the Newcastle Head Scout too.

Ted

It doesn't take a great scout to get in players like Cabaye (France international and signed from French champions), Tiote (signed from Dutch champions at the time) or Cisse (2nd top scorer in Germany). These were well known players to anyone with a bit of knowledge about European football. It's the managers who chose to sign them
so give credit to Hughton and Pardew.

Kieran

That just about says it all !!

Eds,
you say there is very very little chance of Rafa returning as manager.
But what is the reason that you think so? {Ed022's Note - Because he would want sole control over the clubs transfers etc, and the owners aren't looking for that type of manager. They clearly believe in separation of powers.}

05 May 2012 23:10:17
My transfer wishlist and reason:

Dempsey: He can score goals, and would do well working along side Carroll and Suarez. He is American, which will help with marketing the club in the USA which I assume would be of interest to the owners.

Hoilett: Talented, pacy, would be good option on the right side.

Kagawa: For me, he would be the ideal midfielder who could provide creativity, energy, goal scoring. A real talent and young. Will cost 15 -20 million but he would most likely be a star, and couldn't hurt sales in Japan.

A defensive midfielder to back up Lucas.

Keeper: Lloris. Reina will leave in summer.

We need to move Spearing to another PL club and also Kuyt. Cole, Aquilani also leaving.

Coop

What a c**p wishlist. Kagawa does not want to play for us, hoilett is decent but matt phillips wud be better. reina is twice the keeper lloris is. just one bad season does not make him poor. Spearing needs replacing though, very poor by liverpool standards. hats off to carrol for a wonderful performance.
Indian Buzzer

Why do people keep mentioning names like Matty Phillips- we need to learn from last year and buy quality not potential {Ed022's Note - Because Liverpool are interested in him?}

05 May 2012 23:09:29
{Ed022's note - Just thought I'd let you all know that over on my Player Profiles site there is now a Liverpool Talk Page, where it's strictly LFC talk regarding transfers, profiles, questions etc. Thanks all.}

Could an ED make a list of any possible candidates for the manager role - IF Kenny was to leave at the end of the season. Would just like an idea to the possible "young managers" we would be looking at, that everyone seems to be going on about.
Cheers REDTED {Ed022's Note - I could list every single manager in the world and there would be some possibility mate. It's too early to tell who the real possibilities are though mate.}

Roberto Martinez-Popualr and talented but no experience at a big club
Brenden Rodgers/Paul Lambert - very impressive seasons but one season doesnt make a great manager ask roy
AVB- young ambitious and talented but failed at chelsea raising question marks
Emery - Doing well with low budget but no prem exp
Bielsa - see above
Rafa - Loves Liverpool, Experienced talented, wants full control, upsets players etc
Laurent Blanc - little experienced but seems talented
Louis Van Gaal - free agent managed some of the biggest clubs in the world
Klopp - back to back titles, excessive compemsation
Deschamps - Doing well currently
Martin Laudrup- Eds like him nuff said lol

05 May 2012 23:05:02
We scored two. So it was a draw.

Mighty reds

It wasn't in, the bar is in line with the goal line, you could clearly see it wasn't fully past the bar on tv.....it's not a goal.

Get your head out your ass, it didn't cross the line just as Luis Garcia's goal never crossed the line against them in the champions league. Some you win and some you lose. So suck it up big boy.

Mighty Reds - The most delusional poster on the Liverpool page.

CnM

It wasnt a goal..
(and trust me.. i jumped up and screamed around the living room like a loon)
But it wasnt a goal...
ItsNotRocketScience

Get over it already, it wasn't a goal.
So we lost, there that's then end of it.
Damn!

Come on owners its time to move forward its important not to let your hearts rule your head. Its time for Kenny to move aside and make way for a manger more relevant to today's game, someone with game inteligence and a real eye for a player. Kenny has bought too many average players who are clearly not up to the task and unable to take the club forward. We need someone like a Luis Van Gaal or Jesus Nevada who can set up systms effectively and be able to persuade the technically better players abroad to join. Henderson & Spearing are not good enough and never will be, don't get me wrong Spearing is an honest proffesional and will do a good job in a chmpionship side but not Liverpool.

Its of vital importance that we move forward with a new manager who can rebuild the midfield and more importantly the forward line. We need someone like a Jelaovic/Cisse up front and someone like Martinez in midfield who can control the tempo and more essentially create chances for others. Today's game clearly highlighted that Spearing & Henderson are not up to the task and the game only changed when Spearing was substituted and the formation became more attack minded. This again shows Kenny's incompetence with team selection & tactics or lack of.

This summer will be of interest whilst full respect goes out to the new owners for removing Hicks & Gillette the honey moon period is well & truely over IMPORTANTdecisions need to be made and fast

Thats commitment! to mention all the youngsters aswell altho you have made some errors Aurelio will be let go and bellamy has a year left on his contract unlikely to renew hey ed how come you guys dont have spell checker for these posts?
have a guess {Ed022's Note - Do you realise how much longer that would take? To spell check every single post? Pah, screw that.}

I'm more worried that we only have 8 or 9 players in the squad with all the loans and selling.. :o/

Hoola

Sell 11 loan out 10 and retire 1, so you want rid of 22 of the 37 players in the squad, leaving just 15 players in the squad. Now i'm not a genius but don't you think only having 15 players might leave the squad alittle thin? Unless your gonna sign 10-15 players? So what your saying in short is that over 70% of the squad isn't good enough and have to be moved on? Well take a bow son you hit the nail on the head. lol

Lol sorry ed i thought with the amount of posts ive done tonight it might be obvious Seriously how many posts so u get must be a popualr site to say the least
The Joshster {Ed022's Note - Yes it's a popular site, I've edited just on the LFC site since 6pm about 1000 posts?}

I meant the automatic spell checker you know like you have on word they have it on some other sites similar to these just a thought
The Joshster {Ed022's Note - I have Google chrome if that helps?}

05 May 2012 22:52:05
Ed's I don't think it's fair that you post people's rants about Kenny when they themselves don't have the bottle to put their name to them, these are the same Lucas and carroll haters that change their mind on a player or manager from minute to minute and are embarrassing.i think Kenny's done a great job and would love to see him as gaffer next season.
Cheers
Growler {Ed022's Note - I understand your point completely mate, unfortunately we kind of have to. This site allows anyone to post and lets people maintain their anonymity, it has been suggested using a sign up scheme, but it's never gained full support.}

The results haven't been good enough mate, it's that simple and il put my name to that all day long. Look at the league.look at it.

(Ed022's Note - If this is aimed at me then thank you, but a lot of the Eds here work very hard, I'm just steadying the ship for today, but I will try and get back on here as much as possible. I'm always over on the player-profiles website though if it helps, and there is a Liverpool talk page on their also.)

Ed022 - The Roy Hodgson of Editing. {Ed022's Note - You'll have to explain this to me, is this a good or a bad thing?}

05 May 2012 22:44:51
Much as i want KD to stay, if he should go please please do not wish Carragher or Gerrard or anyone else to take the helm. At least let it be someone with expereince and don't trust the strange idea that a great player will make a great managar. Harry Redknapp wasn't great but not a better manager in the game.

05 May 2012 22:43:48
does anyone else think many of us are saying carroll should have started only because of how he played. dont get me wrong he was magnificent, but how many times this season has he done that. i think he has what it takes of course and he still has more to go. but be honest. would you have started him? (i may have because he was the only one who tried v fulham) just a question..... and STOP SLAUGHTERING HENDERSON & ENRIQUE, and let up a little on little jay.

"Little Jay" has messed up to many times and offers very little to the team. We need a 6ft plus powerhouse protecting the defence not a mini-me!

He has... but is it his fault we lost lucas? the lad is trying his best. sure it may not be our ""STANDARD"" but come on atleast hes trying. cant say that about all of em

Jay is a lucky lad and its not his fault he is in the team , lfc loved him as a kid and he had some bad injuries to get over and i respect him for getting in the team but he is not what we need/want he should go and play every week for a lesser team (before we become one with the average players we have now)red mick tag

Maybe i can pull on a pair of football shoes and have a go aswel thene?

Im not good but i give it my all...

The Rob

What is our standard we are still thinking in the past our standerd is 8th in the leauge reallity should start to hit home stop talking like we a force that is the problem thinking in the past and thinking we are better than we actually are dal gliesh is not a great manager he took over a great team and when they started to age he panicked and left the first time of panick

Lol are you kidding me? Where the hell is cech and Ivanovic in that pic? I am pretty sure the post wasn't empty when the ball hit the bar.

Isnt that an adidas ball in the pic? wasnt the players using umbro ones during the game? hate to say it but its a fake buddy!

Di Matteo has completely turned around Chelsea after the AVB mistake.
The manager does make a difference.
Kenny this, Kenny that. Great player, perhaps one of the greatest the UK has produced.
Never rated him as a manager.
The manager does make a difference.
But for Liverpool, who ? {Ed022's Note - Di Matteo has changed things around by using the simple technique of 'licking bumholes'. Take that as you will.}

That made me laugh ed
the Joshster {Ed022's Note - That's good, I was aiming for it.}

Hopefully you wasnt aiming for the bumhole ed ;o)

I will be hung drawn and quartered on here for saying this but the team we had under benitez was without doubt the best in the Premier league era. Mash alonso Torres Gerard Pepe arbeloa - fantastic - how far away those days seam to me. People have accepted mediocrity now and that's in the name of Dalglish.

It was men v boys today - I was proud of andy but the game was lost - it was lost in August. Lucus is our best player now.one of rafas worst signings for some..

For help us if Kenny stays

Gazman

You are absolutely 100% correct. The team under Benitez was fantastic and if it wasn't for the two idiots in charge at the time think where we would be now if he was still in charge. With the backing of FSG he would have spent the money Kenny received on much better players. Any one who slags you off for having the view that you have is looking at the situation with Kenny coloured specs. I'm hoping against hope that he comes back sooner rather than later.

No-one in their right mind should have a go at you for having that view, the team under Benitez was fantastic and if he was still in charge now with the current owners then I don't believe we would be in such a sorry state. Don't get me wrong its great to be in two cup finals but the league doesn't lie, nor do some of the unbelievably bad performances this season. Some people have been saying that we need a young up and coming manager but I don't believe that's true, given the fact that we have done so well in the cups I think that has only served to gloss over some of our inadequacys. I think we need serious work and therefore need someone with experience to sort the mess out and the more I think of who's out there and would be willing to take the job on the more I think of Benitez. He has the desire and is certainly qualified and is the only one who would be willing to do it with enough pull to get some serious players in. We can only hope eh?

This fantastic team that didn't win anything? those players together didn't win a thing or make a final, this current team won 1 cup and got to another final.

as Rafa would put it..FACT

we are going to get so much stick from the media. also the program "your on sky sports" will be full of anti liverpool fans and drunken chelsea fans who are deluded like always. we need to get rid of spearing who is a waste, as well as the other rubbish players. i got to say that carroll has done well. hopefully we keep him and suarez. we just need 1 or 2 goal scorers.

05 May 2012 22:33:55

Not a rumour, just heard that freddie starr has agreed a deal with itv to cover the champions league final,he will be taking over from former the one show host Adrian it cant be that bad children chiles the only croation that firmly beileives that west brom play good football,so itv decided that it was about time for another concept in humour by hiring the arch angel hamster scoffing nudist himself, and have it on good authority that they are also seriously looking into getting rid of good irish accent roy keane and good scottish accent gordon strachan,as for gareth southgate well hes been offered a job at milk tray although the details are uncertain. The chuckle brothers have been approached, they said they would be interested if itv threw in some mushrooms

It was great to see AC in the zone like that. Hope he will play last games. We need to sign playrs and as much as I wanna see KD stay at times I have problems with his selection strategy and general tactical moves. I hope he makes way quickly and we get a manager who is hungry to win. Who can change a man without too much sentiment.

Eds your totally right mate i think i want new yound manager with new ideas build up again although this was supposed to be transition season i think yound manager fresh ideas is totally the right way wether we go that way i dint know i diubt it i never get what a want! By the way ur my favourite eds! {Ed022's Note - If this is aimed at me then thank you, but a lot of the Eds here work very hard, I'm just steadying the ship for today, but I will try and get back on here as much as possible. I'm always over on the player-profiles website though if it helps, and there is a Liverpool talk page on their also.}

So I think most of us are in agreement that Sadly we like to see KK to be in a different role at the club compared to now i.e ambassador Possible replacements:

Being honest i think we have had mixed season..we have played football like Arsenal and Barca sometimes and pretty for eyes and infact we played Arsenal off park playing their style and thats some saying...poor decisions by Kenny& Co and injuries and ban(Lucas+Suarez) hasnt helped but i do believe we have moved on forward if not much but little bit..if Kenny was to stay he needs to resuffle his team and accept his signing have been poor and change things.. for me 6 out would be Cole, Aqua,Aurielo, Kuyt, Jones and maybe spearing on loan or even sell nd Glen Johnson.. Team needs Left back to compete with Enrique and i think Vargas is good option as good at defending and can play in midfield, If Johnson leaves Isla is good option but main concern is Creative midfielder and Elm and Honda fits in and for Striker/forward i would go for Luke De Jong and Winger Suseata and i think those players would add creativity.. flair and pace to team..Sterling and Suso must be given chances..Kenny is doing some right things but he needs to be ruthless and not think much from heart...my love for liverpool is growing bigger and even defect like today makes me love LFC more..i stand by Liverpool and players will come and go..Lets get behind Liverpool and hope for strong end to season with wining last 2 games...

05 May 2012 22:06:03
lovely site, could you please tell me who liverpool are likely going to look at for a new manager if KD goes, and any new players coming in ? :)

the boys played well second half, we just lacked that final punch, but we havent played CL football for a few years and all we have now is a name, and no trophies to gain players :/ :)

and if fans ask for Kenny to go they're mad, if your complaining about having lack of quality then how come Kenny has got us to TWO finals with such a poor squad?, ask your self that....

thanks {Ed022's Note - It is too early to say for sure who the owners may or may not be looking at as a replacement manager if Kenny goes.}

05 May 2012 22:05:10
carrol deserves credit for today, if no one else does. he turned the game and was a constant threat to chelsea. very well taken goal, which many of us thought he had fluffed with to many touches, and countless linkup with the mids. say what you will about the kid, but he has improved incredibly this season. dissapointing result, still to many payed to much and caring to little, but positives to take. we bent them over last twenty minutes, we jus missed the penetration.

unlucky lads, learn from it for next season.

kenny to stay.

Post of the day ! We bent them over ! YOu are a comedy genius !gazman

How would people feel about this line up next year:

___________Reina
Isla____Skrtel___Agger____Enrique
_______Henderson_Lucas
Pato Rodriguez_Suarez_Griezmann
___________Carroll

Bench: Jones, Kelly, Johnson, Shelvey, Gerrard, Bellamy, Luuk De Jong

Its a step in the right direction but without the big names signings wanted. It would be a big imporvement and would get the best out of everyone. I know Henderson gets alot of stick but he's a good player but he hasn't got the pace to be a winger or the tackling to be a DM, he is a deeplying playmaker who uses his passing to do the talking(altough he needs to be allowed to play his game inorder to get the best out of him).

That would see Isla, Pato Rodriguez, Griezmann and De Jong coming in, Isla would bring the defence together and he an cover for Lucas if he gets injured again, Rodriguez and Griezmann would give width pace and crossing ability(which would be useful with Carroll upfront) and both have a good shot on them. And De Jong offers another quality option upfront. All could be bought for 40-50m and with sales that figure could be brought down further. These are great young players who all the top teams aren't going for yet so would be good to nip in before they notice them.

Stevie on the bench get real FFS

He'd be lucky to make the bench with his poor injury record. It's been over four years since he had a injury free season.

I think we need to see today as a decent performance against a team that wass slightly better than us and have a couple of drinks hooping that summer signings will strengthen midfield and right wing. Unfortunately we can no longer rely on our local stalwarts; Carra is past his best, Stevie's body can onlyallows him to perform in fits and starts and unfortunately although Spearing has the heart of a lion he just isn't up to the standard we need and we have to wait for a year or two for a new generation to emerge. Carroll was immense today and hopefully we can look forward to a great partnership with Suarez. Kenny is a legend and a thouroughly decent bloke but does he have to go as far as accepting a note from Downing's mum that he does not have to beat the opposing fullback

i have to say im surprised at the level of stick being directed at Henderson, thought he had a decent game actually, needs some shooting practice but he certainly didnt look out of his depth at that level, unlike Spearing, but still think Henderson will become a top player {Ed022's Note - I agree.}

I have followed Liverpool for over 35 years. I travel to at least 18 games in a season (home and away) with my family and I have admit that the lack of positive input from the sidelines has been distressing. I believe that Kenny could have stayed on a golf course and preserved his legendary status. He chose not to, and that is to his eternal credit.

However, his decisions today were extremely detrimental to the team - Spearing, Downing, Henderson and Enrique should have been on the bench with Carroll, Shelvey, Maxi and Kelly starting.

We have not played well in both halves of a match this season and that is not a good sign. I don't believe that KK is receiving the best advice from his coaches but ultimately team selectin rests with him. It pains me to say thet he is culpable for not replacing Lucas. Lassana Diarra would have been an optin on loan.

Spearing is not good enough for LFC, nor is Downing and Enrique has deteriorated and is not as good as Izzaguire of Celtic. Henderson will improve but needs to be taken out of the team for his own good.

We need more technically adept players as the squad we have is devoid of creativity. The fighting spirit is not in question but that in itself will not break down defences. I hope for the progression of the club that we get in creative players and equally creative coaches.

Pako Ayesteran would be a good start.

I agree, Pako would be great.

Now that were starting to see best of carroll kenny doesent say anything about him and weve suffered woth him all season hes looking good now season stops but now that hes gaining form liverpool will likely try to sell him now that wree seing the best he looked a player like lorente his footworks getting better to suit our passing his chesting of the ball is smazing i should b gutted but from carrol today i have optimism, il tel u wat i think were better agst teams that come on to us but anfields been bad cz teams come and sit we cant break down and in games like that carrols no use. In that form i want carrol to stay but hes not going to be our 20 a season we need prolific striker but wats problem with 2/3 strikers thats wat wev got to have but i keep hearing striker if carrol goes no man citys got 5. I say 2 because suarez is an attackin mid in my mind even though he was striker in holland for him to score we need gerrard torres style formation but id sacrafice that prospect for a suarez soldado partnership gerrard further back but winger needed cause downing is pathetic kuyt sold and bellamy form dropping winger or 2 but cant see 2 and cm although lucas coming back will be like a new signing, cant wait but he will need time so lookbsck at poor season id say recently on form keep carrol few weeks ago i admit to be saying get rid of but now keep carrol theres something there. Times up for kuyt, maxi, aurelio(so underated). Aqua, cole, pacheco, wilson. Carra to retire. Adam downing sold but aint going to hapoen. Dalglish out. Cm(creative) right winger and striker a must perhaps rb if johnson goes possible left back. Strong dm if spearing loan shelvey loan robinson loan flanbagan loan. Potential of shelvey is immense. One more thing to say coms on you reds and bring a happy 2012/2013. Eds thanks for all this season appreciated and keep up good wirk {Ed022's Note - Thanks mate, you to.}

We have won something this season. That is at least one thing that we can say. Newcastle, Spurs nor Arsenal can say such a thing. That is a positive. We are also in Europe also by definition of winning the Carling Cup, that too is a positive. This season has been a better season than the last one. This season has perhaps not been magnificent, yet, it is has not been terrible either. There is certainly no resting on the laurels as there is work to be done.

dom lovelock

14 defeats
4 wins at home
second only to wolves on form in 2012
won the carling cup on penalties ( Just )
lost at home to Wigan, fulham, West Brom.
Not a bad season, try telling that to the season ticket holders at Anfield.

How many saves did Pepe have to make today apart from the 2 goals? All this lark about we were overrun in the 1st 60 minutes is a laugh. Chavski scored a first on a spearo mistake and Enrique and Pepe both made mistakes on it too. Credit to Ramirez on the run and effort but Never should be beaten at the near post Pepe. Apart from that it was a tedious 1st half with not alot going on, although thought Bellars should have equalised on his blocked effort. The 2nd half started like the 1st ended and then another little mistake led to the Drogba goal. Opportunist goal by him and that's why he been so good for so many years. Once Chavski got the 2nd and Andy came on the midfield opened up more and we attacked in waves. Thought the dissalowed goal looked like a goal in real time but it was a split second judgement by the refs assistant. Hard to tell from the replay angles but it didnt stand so that is that. Don't know how Mata got man of the match. Thought Drogba, Ramirez, Agger, Skittles and Carroll all had a bigger impact on the game. Would like us to get a partner(Luuk de Jong) for Carroll and let Luis roam and play the hole next year. Thanks Carra & Dirk for your years of service. Bellars in the impact sub role only and Lucas back to shore up the DM position. A tricky playmaker for the right side is needed too. We are better than our league form and have been very unlucky with injuries(Gerrard and Lucas) woodwork and suspensions. This may be one of the most important transfer windows in our clubs history. We need to get back into top 4 contention next season. All in all it has been a frustrating season but we played well against our main rivals overall. 2/3 players in and a few elders to move on. LFC for ever. YNWA.

05 May 2012 21:43:05
personally i would Laudrup or Emery, two young exciting smart coaches, i think they would produce a brand of football we have been missing at Liverpool for a long time. ATTACKING!!
and it really hurts to go against Kenny but the season has been so bad that unless kenny has lined up messi and ronaldo as summer replacements i cant see it getting better.
and hate to have a go at Liverpool players its not nice but Spearing is just not good enough and Kenny's faith in him has probably cost him.

05 May 2012 21:40:59
Dissapointed with the way we played in the first half I think we R crying out for a centre mid who can take players on gerrard doesn't do it alot anymore we need some one who can beat a player then link with the strikers so we dnt always have to play back or sideways.the fact is hendo n spearin can do the simple things but there's nothing extra no flair no creativity no running past players n taking them on ,not Tryin to put them down but they should be back up players at a club like lfc ,or am I bein harsh?

05 May 2012 21:40:19
Read a couple of web posts saying that a CGI reproduction shows the whole ball was over the line? Has anyone seen anything? If it is true (and the more I see it, the more I think it could be), it really highlights how wrong FIFA's stance is on this. The video referee would add excitement and more importantly a definitive, accurate answer. And above all, we would have gone on to extra time looking much the stronger team. Not saying we played well, just saying I'd like to know the true result.

Sir Masher

05 May 2012 21:40:17
A question kenny should ask himself, after the midweek performance how did spearing get in the first eleven for the cup final?

05 May 2012 21:39:35
ed022,if you think you know so much about the game, because you have obviously played at a very high level due to the fact you seem to think you know alot that will be happen next season then stick your reputation on the fact that The King will not be manager next season,or are you just another person with a knee that has a reaction after every game.Step down as an ed if Kenny is still boss next season, if you know that much about the game.I know this wont get posted but why dont you show some balls. {Ed022's Note - This post is fantastic. Have it is certain Kenny will go next season? No I haven't at all. How do you know I'm actually not Kenny himself? You don't. I don't claim to be all knowing regarding football, I just simply state my opinions and use my qualifications. What qualifications are those? You will never know. You're clearly a very angry little child with several mummy issues, and I'd suggest you take those issues elsewhere. If people ask for my opinion, or ask for what I am told, then I will give it. Simple as that.}

Kenny aint no king he is a joke. He should resign today he is not welcome at liverpool f the 80,s f the 90's he has made us a laughing stock in the league.

F off. He hasn't had a stroke of luck since he got here! Why don't you go pack your bags and head to manchester you lonely little boy! He has done wonders for this club and just because times are rough doesn't mean we take back what is rightfully theirs. Kenny is a KING and he is a KING for a reason!

It is fans like you that make us a laughing stock. We are sadly living in a 'quick fix' world where we expect instant miracles. We have had some terrible results and some awful luck but with the exception of about 4 games we haven't had many games we deserved to lose. We would have been lucky to finish top 5, City, Utd, Arsenal, Spurs and it seems Newcastle (for now) are ahead of us, we have been taken to Wembley for two finals by Kenny, how dare you. We were never going to win the league this season but he has landed us one trophy and we were within a couple of inches of taking a second final to extra time against a team that over the past seven years has cost close to half a billion, all things counted.

Go support City, they have the quick fix you glory hunters seek.

Was Carroll's header a genuine goal. {Ed022's Note - I thought it was personally.}

The whole ball was not over the line and from that range he prob should have scored anyway. At the end of the day we should have had 2 upfront its not a league game it looked like we were going for a point!
JJ blackpool

It was closer to being a goal than Luis Garcia's was but the whole ball didn't cross all of the line. So no it wasn't a goal and for once the officals made a good call.

Kenny is being delusional with his statements.
They all go that way towards the end.

05 May 2012 21:33:19
We laid siege to their goal in the last half an hour- but I was dismayed to see Gerrard try and play Hollywood balls in injury time rather than continue the way we were- his giving away of the ball twice gave them possession when we needed it- surely with his experience he should have known better.
Reina was very poor for the first goal- maybe time he had some real competition.

Bring RAFA back. 2nd in the league under him 2 champion league finals. If only he had the 100 million to build a squad with

We won the league under dalglish. Rafa had plenty of money and wasted a lot of it. He wants too much control and doesn't promote attractive football. If you're gonna replace kenny, think of someone better than the Spanish waiter. We want to move forward not sideways.

Aintree red

Sorry but he had over two million in his time to build a league winning side. lets move forward. Kenny`s time will be over soon. bring in someone young and fresh, we should go all out and get Pep G and give him the time to build a great team. J.Canada

Sorry meant two hundred million.lol j.Canada

05 May 2012 21:26:22
lol. not saying i want rafa back. but if he did, he would bin hendo. use spearing as last resort only on the bench only or back in reserves. bin downing. use adam as squad player. he would buy quality first team players and if they didnt work out then he's not afraid to drop and sell them. he would finaly use in some way his quality youngsters. i say if the owners are thinking of a new manager and our about business then rafa should be an ideal choice because he knows how to qualify for 4th place.

I think some people forget about the large amount of crap players brought in by Rafa, Josemi for example. Then there was the good players bought that never worked out. How many good prem strikers fail at lfc, Heskey, Bellamy(first time), Crouch, Keane and Carroll(thus far, but should come good). Is it always the manager who signs the players? and why do so many fail to live up to expectations at lfc? managers and players alike.

That was before the rise of Citeh now 4th place is greater to achieve

05 May 2012 21:14:38
pretty gutted about result, fair to say chelski deserved it just, Carrol changed the game and if this what he play like next season we will have a beast of a player, got to say tho i thought he was going to fall over his own feet for our goal. lol. I think the team foe the last couple of games should be
reina
enrique agger skrtyl g.johnson
gerrard hendo
downing bellers
suarez
carrol
so its like a 4,2,2,1,1.

With a new manager in place and if Torres comes available any chance he could be the striker bid for given he clearly has feelings deep down having not celebrated in the circle with the others instead joined the Liverpool players and then joined them in the changing room {Ed022's Note - I have no idea if he didn't celebrate with his team, and I'm not fussed. Torres will not be returning.}

05 May 2012 21:13:29
Heart: Keep Kenny, he is a liverpool legend and has done so much for this club.

Head: Kenny should still be around at the club but his signings just aren't good enough and the money he has spent just isn't worth it.

BthekingB {Ed022's Note - Good post.}

Emotion. This is what less evolved humans tend to struggle to manage during their lifetimes.

You need to learn to separate emotion and logic.

You cant demand success yet allow your emotions to dictate who should manage the team, it doesnt make sense.

Kenny Dalglish is simply not good enough. This has been demonstrated not only this season but at most of his managerial roles at his previous clubs. Logic dictates that he is not ready to manage this team and he needs to be replaced.

Its so simple when you introduce logically reasoning to your thought processes.

I posted numerous times on here when Kenny was appointed and exchanged some aggressive words with the Eds regarding my total disapproval of KD's appointment.

It defies logic why he was given the job. He has either left or been moved to DOF in all his managerial roles, flopped in his last year at Newcastle, flopped at Celtic and flopped this season.

He is not good enough. Top managers dont consistently flop at different clubs. Look at Moyes, Mancini, Benitez, Mourinho...top managers that have been successful at their jobs no matter what team or what country or what league they're in...(bar benitez at inter).

The fact Dalglish finished 13th in his last season at newcastle and flopped so dramatically at Celtic should give an indication of his managerial ability.

You guys need to wake up man, honestly im tired of this rubbish, why cant you see that Dalglish just aint good enough?

Why do you choose to be so blind? What happened to this blindness when Hodgson was here or the last season Benitez was here? You guys were all wide-eyed then so how come you cant see that Dalglish is totally out of his depth?

If he stays our great club is in dire trouble.

Heard Torres is havings skin grafts to get that liverpool tatoo off his as*e

05 May 2012 21:13:21
where would we be if kenny werent stubborn and carroll and suarez started every game this season. alot better off. i hope kenny learns from his mistakes coz i still want him to be our manager.

i get the feeling kenny looks for excuses to drop carrol and play players who he favours because he has so many mediocre in his squad he likes to keep happy.

you see it in his interviews how he says it difficult to pick a team every week.

but really its only difficult because every week he's trying to justifiy his buys and has never played our best team for more than 1 or 2 games.

and that folks is one of many reasons but the main reason we have under performed this season. maybe a new manager will change things but kenny needs to be givin one more season to see where the problems lie and where we need to improve on.

i think he is changing because he didnt let sentiment get in the way of droppin carra, but i didnt like the fact how weak our midfeild was and spearing and henderson get a place a head of shelvey. again hes let his sentiment for spearing get in the way and its always the price tag getting hendo a place

im afraid omens were against us why . this was 131 first cup final . kennys record against chelsea before today was played 13 won 10 drew three no losses im afraid its now one lost which equals the number 131. so im afraid it was all in the numbers. have supported kenny all season will accept any decision he makes if he goes we should go for martinez of wigan . just a question for people to ponder do we stick with carroll or go for a pass move side . i dont know the answer

alan waddle

I agree mate, I think we should get Martinez, I think he would spend the money wisely, I think his demeanor when in front of the press is very good, which would show Liverpool fc in a good light, unlike Kennys interviews which leave fans shaking their heads and do Liverpool fc no favours.
Also there are a lot of people asking for Brendan Rodgers, but i dont think swansea would be in the position they are now if it wernt for Martinez

What a stupid post

Didn't know Martinez had such a impact at swansea AND WIGAN!

I hope I speak on behalf of all the Reds, because if I see Spearing in a Liverpool shirt I'm going to go insane. I don't care if some of you think he deserves a chance or it is only one game but that's BS. For two seasons now he has been absolutely awful. He's slow, poor passer, wreckless and doesn't know how to mark a player, as Ramires tore him apart. Just cause he's a Scouser doesn't mean he's the next Stevie G.(if only that were true). If Jonjo was there instead of Spearing we might have gotten into the game without worrying about Spearing's next mistake and thats why Gerrard went too deep and didn't help Suarez. By the first half the damage was done..... mostly Spearing

I agree spearing is a joke and Downer should never play for us Again absolute disgrace it's sickening to see that scumbag Terry lifting the FA Cup absolute Tw..

Don't be so f**kin disrespectful about a player who gives everything week in week out. You certainly don't speak for all reds. Spearing is 23 and Lucas 25. I'm willing to bet you wanted Lucas gone 2 years ago.

Kieran

Please do not insult Lucas by comparing him to Spearing

I will take winning one cup and drawing the other final.

Mighty reds

You what?

05 May 2012 21:03:22
The lads made us look good but truth being Chelsea were knackered after the first half hour following their recent tough games.Had they been completely fresh we wouldn't have had a chance. We are very much inferior to them.
galls

If we played from the start instead of the last half hour then Chelski may not have won the match...

05 May 2012 21:03:05
All,

I'm willing to accept some of the blame for today. I did not organise a business trip for the day of the final this time around. People may remember that I was out of the country for the Carling Cup final, and suggested that maybe I should also get out of the UK for today, but obviously I didn't.

Anyway, onto the game:

Reina: As per most of his season, he was hot and cold. Poor when it mattered (dive AT him if you have to!), but decent distribution (bar a few misplaced kicks).

Johnson: Average. Not much more I can say.

Enrique: Awful, and generally p*ssed me off as per most of the season so far. Does he realise he has another foot, not just his left? This guy is a professional footballer but can only use one foot... I place more blame for the first goal on him than I do on Spearing and Reina. Should never had gone in when he did, and just tracked back to force Ramires wide.

Agger: Good game, and demanding of his teammate's (did anyone else see him shouting at Enrique during the first half).

Skrtel: Had a fair game, although as with Reina, failed when it mattered.

Gerrard: Largely anonymous game for Stevie G on a day when we needed him to perform. I think the tactic was per the Norwich game and sit back to control the midfield and allow Hendo and Spearing to grow into the game - as pointed out by Clive Tyldesley - but it just didn't work.

Henderson: Tried to keep possession as per usual. Too much expected of him by other fans, but for me, he done OK. His shooting was poor today, but it's good to see him getting in the right positions and having a go, rather than just passing it for someone else to have a go. Showed some responsibility in this respect.

Spearing: I concede, he had a very poor game. I think it unfair to label him 'shocking' (as Ed005 mentioned) but he was poor. He has done well for us in Lucas' absence, so give him a little bit of leeway. It's only because today really mattered and he didn't perform that people are really getting on his back.

Downing: Blew hot and cold for me. As we've come to expect, he's scared to beat his man and his passing was poor during the first half. He needs to just pin his ears back, skin his man and send in a good delivery.

Bellamy: Didn't really offer anything, but I put this down to our poor passing/possession play today, and him constantly having to track back. Took his volley well, and on another day would have scored. Deliveries into the box were poor.

Suarez: The team really didn't do anything to bring him into the game until Andy came on. He was very isolated. If he wanted the ball, he had to come deep, and then he had nobody making a run for him to lay it off. Poor decision from Kenny to play him leading the line on his own against Chelsea.

Carroll: Without doubt man of the match for LFC. Dominant, always wanting the ball, and doing well with it once he had it. First goal was superb (and showed Peter Crouch what being a big man with good feet is!). Made the best of everything that came to him. Unlucky not to get the decision for the second goal. Tracking back was excellent.

Kuyt: Almost impossible to rate, given the short amount of time he played.

Overall: The first hour was dire. I think it unfair to single anyone out for playing poorly, so I won't. Andy Carroll changed the game for us. Desire and hunger. I hope that this defeat hangs heavy on the shoulders of the players that didn't perform today, and that they use it as motivation for next season. I'm sure Kenny will have a lot to say about today, and drive home that if they are not going to turn up during the game, they can f*ck off. We can't afford any passengers in our team, and the players must understand this.

Stedz 11

(Side note - I'm half cut whilst writing this, and have not had the 'pleasure' of watching any analysis etc. of the game, so I could be way off. These are just my immediate thoughts!)

Where is macca? We need a lift! Ed, you are fantastic but you seem to be doing all the work! {Ed022's Note - I am doing all of the work tonight haha. Unfortunately 001 and 002 have been extremely busy today, so I've been left to take up the reigns as it were. I usually only edit my player profiles site, but I used to read the Liverpool site every day for 3 years before becoming an Ed.}

05 May 2012 21:01:45
Is it me or is Stuart Downing scared stiff of running at people, he seems to be holding back for some reason.

Sooty

He's also really poor at deciding when to pass. There were several occasions today when he had a potential 2 on 1 with bosingwa and didn't engage him before releasing the ball to the free man. He just passed it to a marked man and we lost possession.

05 May 2012 21:00:38
How do you rate our season now we only WON 1 cup? not acceptable just doesn't cover it for me. I think KK should step down now take note from Pep Kenny, we need to sign young skillful foreign players with pace to burn! {Ed022's Note - The answer isn't in a players nationality, it's in their ability.}

Ed022
If that German player chelsea signed a few days ago was British he'd cost £40m, let's be honest all current English players are over hyped. I can't see any British player getting in to Barca / Madrid team.
We need to buy young Spanish & German players. {Ed022's Note - You're talking about Marin. I understand what you're saying mate and I agree with you.}

05 May 2012 20:58:59
Kenny says: 'We will grow from this'.
The only thing he will grow, is tomatoes, when he gets his P45. Henry's expression said it all.
Kenny please go now with dignity.
Carroll almost saved the day.
And take Downing, Adam and Henderson with you.

05 May 2012 20:58:44
Hi Ed, I think the new manager should be in place now! The reason why i say this is because it will give him 2 games to assess the squad before the fire sale and buy players before the Euro's start and will have good pre season! Kenny is already scouting so that means he is/will be the the new DOF. Andy had a solid game and I think a new manager will bring the beast out from him. Over to you Ed!

LFC4EVER!

How the hell do you get a manager in place before Tuesday? Talk sense...

05 May 2012 20:58:07
I find it quite ironic that we have been missing a creative player with a bit of guile and an eye for goal this season yet have sold or loaned Benayoun, Cole, Aquilani and Mereilles the past 12months.

Very odd. And none of them have been properly replaced.

What are you talking about! we have hendo and spearing. hmm..

How is that ironic? Are you Alanis Morissette, or one of the billions of others who don't understand what irony means?

If you are Alanis can I point out that it isn't irony that the man who was afraid to fly died when his plane crashed, irony would have been him deciding to drive and the plane crashed on his car, killing him.

I can't stand it when people get things like irony and literally wrong, I have said this literally a trillion times.

Needing creative players and selling creative players isn't irony, it is short-sightedness, stupidity, naive or poor management.

Yes I am delighted we lost the final. (That's irony).

Michael

Hi ed's

Carroll needs to stay after that performance . If we can supply the ammunition he will deliver.

the last 1/2 hr we were the best team but alas not quite there. The positive we can and should with a couple of players be better . ON WARDS AND UPWARDS..... THE FUTURE IS BRIGHT THE FUTURE IS ANFIELD RED

Heartbroken with a defeat in the Final. We almost had it! Hope, this would prove to be a catalyst of a successful future for my beloved Liverpool Fc. And must say Andy showed that he can be a great asset to us. I believe, We'd come back, again. YNWA Trustme

If you cant support us when we make bizzare squad decisions, if you cant support us when we spend club record transfer fees on poor or average players and if you cant support us when we deliver our worst premier league campaign ever THEN DONT SUPPORT US AT ALL!

It seems the Liverpool way is to accept the mediorce and bury our heads in the sand!

Charlie Adam

Nice one Ken did he really think it would work?

Stewart Downing is the definition of mediocrity. In fact that may be being too kind to Downing.

Err....no he doesn't. Boring, defensive football if I remember correctly.

Like the first half today

Dalston Red

Boring, defensive football? I guess beating madrid and Man U 4-0 and 4-1 in the same week was boring, winning 8-0 against besiktas drove everyone to the nearest bed, I felt like shooting myself getting to 2 CL finals, and having the best striker in the world at the time, well, what can you say?

Chelsea deserved to win. End of.

Rafa's Purple Goatie

If I remember rightly under Rafa in the season we got 2nd, we scored the most goals in the premiership and also had the best Goal difference

Just looked it up, we had 77 Goal's For (9 more then the closest challengers and a Goal Difference of +50)

Kenny Dalglish believes his team will learn a valuable lesson from their 2-1 FA Cup final defeat to Chelsea ............................................................

The real question is...will he?

05 May 2012 20:44:17
What is the point of a football club? To make profit? To support the local community? To perform well on the pitch?
I think the owners (despite their NEED to reap monetary rewards) recognize the fact that Liverpool Football Club is fuelled by its supporters and rich history. Mr. Henry and his team realise that a successful team (coaches, manager, players, etc) is key to the club as a whole and a catalyst to more revenue, which can then be used to improve the team more, which generates even more money, and so on and so forth (Barca, Bayern, etc have been doing this forever, and it is sad that we've fallen so far behind teams of this calibre over the last few years. We can't even dare be mentioned in the same breath any more. We have to keep in mind that football is cyclical, so hopefully the glory of the 80s will repeat itself in the not-too-distant future)

Random note; remember when we beat Real Madrid 4-0? *sigh*

05 May 2012 20:42:27
Another positive from this season...
These players have now tasted glory, allbeit the carling cup, a win is a win, a trophy is a trophy.
They have also now tasted a loss, and felt the hurt that comes from not winning!
Before this season, most of these players could only dream of Wembley and Winning tropheys.. Now they KNOW what they want more of.. they will want to win, because they liked the feeling! A winning mentality is hard to instill in players that have no concept of it!
Bring on next season!

05 May 2012 20:40:29
I suppose the only good thing to come from todays game will be lessons that Kenny and the rest of the management team must have learned.
1- Spearing is not good enough, end of. I can see the benefits of a defensive midfielder, but Spearing isn't a defensive midfielder. He never breaks up the opposition play. His positional sense is rubbish. He is clearly willing to throw himself into a tackle, and it isn't through lack of effort that I don't rate him, simply lack of ability.
2. Suarez is not a lone striker. For 50mins of the game he was being marked by 4 defenders, and was not in the game at all.
3.Liverpool playing at a high tempo are a completely different animal. Easier said than done, but if we could play at the tempo we played at for the last 25mins all next season we'll do alright.
4. Andy Carroll. The qualities he brings to the team were their for all to see. It isn't pretty but in the mood he was in today he will dominate any centre half in the EPL. With him on the pitch he instantly gives Suarez space because defenders are scared of him and get attracted to him, leaving space for Luis. I thought he was awesome today, and I guess we'll all be thinking for the foreseeable what if he'd started.
5. As if we didn't all know anyway but a tricky pacy winger is a must. Someone who can turn defence into attack in an instant.

On a positive note, To all the fans who attended the game you were excellent. Got behind the team from start to finish, and you all did Liverpool FC proud.

Hi Eds, great site btw
What did u think of Carroll today and do u think he may leave
I believe that he is starting to turn a corner and scoring a few goals
Thanks {Ed022's Note - I thought Carroll was extremely good today, and actually gave me something to smile about. I myself doubted him before his arrival and during it, but if he displays what he did today week in, week out, I will happily eat my words and set up a shrine for him.}

05 May 2012 20:36:33
Tony LFC how are you feeling? Not so mouthy now are we!

05 May 2012 20:33:42
Reina was poor again today, and he hasn't covered himself in glory over the past few months. So my question is do we think he's off at the end of the season as he has been great for years so is his poor performances due to him being distracted? Just a thought.

05 May 2012 20:36:08
Thought performance overall was poor. Did not disprove to lose. As for the squad.

1. Brad Jones- Keep is an adequate back-up and is relatively cheap and feels a bond to the team.

2. Glenn Johnson - keep best attacking right back. Need him to help open up defences. Back up left back as well.

3. Jose Enrique - has lost his way towards end of season like the rest of the team. But looked good a beginning
Need to get his confidence back.

5. Daniel Agger - best ball playing defender in the league. Forms good partnership with skrtel.

6. Fabio Aurelius - let him leave. Get salary off costs. Good player just injury prone.

7. Luis Suarez - keep. Enough said

8. Steven Gerrard - legs have gone. Needs to reinvent himself as a holding midfielder with much greater discipline. makalele was never the quickest but he was hugely disciplined. Gerrard needs to do that.

9. Andy Carroll - showed today that he can and will be a huge player for us. Unplayable on his day. like Suarez.

11. Maxi - let go. Gets some goals from midfield but getting older and providing less and less. His salary is large so will maybe allow two or three cheaper younger players.

14. Jordan Hendersen - future central midfield with Lucas. Look at the abuse Lucas got but now he is the saviour. Hendersen is a good player keeps the ball well and is a more attack minded player than Lucas.

16. Sebastian Coates - looks a good one for the future

18 . dirk Kyut - if we are only going to get a million for him keep him as a back up.

19. Stewart Downing - somebody needs to get into this guys head. Could be a good provider for Carroll but needs to believe in himself.

20. Jay Spearing - not good enough. Sell

21. Lucas - we have missed him.

23. Jamie Carragher - not got Anything left to give. Fraud to say he needs to go. Allow Martin Kelly to play here.

25. Jose Reina - not sure what is the matter but they say that a great keeper is one that pulls the save off when he has not much to do but this season has been dreadful. Probably the keeper that has conceded the most goals per shots. Maybe time to let go and look at someone else.

26. Charlie Adam - back up but needs to play further up the pitch. Not a Xabi Alonso replacement.

33. Jonjo Shelvey - looks one for the future. Hopefully can develop further.

34. Martin Kelly - right back for the bigger games and also should be groomed for the centre back spot due to his pace.

37. Martin Skrtel - first choice

39. Craig Bellemy - needs to get back to the form over the Christmas period.

Orrin

Chelsea Bob here, keep your heads up boys . You made it a very good cup final and we were hanging on for dear life in the end. The team did you proud and the fans did the team proud . another day another time .

Sell kuyt wages are the big hit

Hi everyone!

Just wanted to see how you were all feeling...Don't be so down though, you managed to win the Carling cup! and get to the FA Cup final! that's good right?

Oh the might Kenny! how we all love him and his amazing tactical skills. a possibly 11th place finish, scraping past Cardiff, getting battered in the FA Cup final and buying some top class footballing talent.

Here's hoping next season will be as good as this, might even get some more Downing quality players. woooo!

I LOVE LIVERPOOL!

The Moon.

Getting battered in the final?. what on earth were you watching?. at least we won the carling cup. chelsea were just lucky like always. you are one dumb fool. also hopefully bayern munich destroys them in the champions league final.

Classy

Lee YNWA

Hey gobby Moon how will you feel when you end up with no trophies this season, Let me guess its only the carling cup so why bother eh lad. Take your pathetic talk and stick it lad. It will be truly superb when city when the league and smart arse tits like you are put in your place. WOOOO!

I HATE UNITED!

Actually mate, we've already won the community shield which is worth about the same as the carling cup. But you've gotta love the way you try to celebrate city's success like it's your own.

CnM

How will I feel when City win the league? well firstly it's an if, they can still lose it. but if they win the league then congratulations to them.

to the first reply, you hope Bayern destroy Chelsea? get any more bitter? Accept they were the better team and congratulate them.

Lee YNWA - No different to what your lot do day, day out on the United page.

I'm not going to say the CC is worthless, I'm going to say when you field your first team against weaker XI's and smaller teams it becomes worthless.

If we end up with nothing this year I'll be gutted and I'll see it as a bad season. now, for a club as big as yours, is finishing mid table good enough? 30+ points of the League winners? hm. if you're happy with the CC then you should be ashamed of yourselves.

In all honestly, I couldn't care less about Liverpool, Today was funny and I posted for the reaction, which I got.

but if you're going to be happy when/if United LOSE the league then what does that say about you?

Behind, United, Behind Everton, soon to be behind Tranmere.

YNWA? more like YMCA.

Kenny used to muck about withe team in 80's/90's with Beardo/Aldo and he still is. Difference is he had a whole squad of good players then. Changes teams and tactics for rhe sake of it. PICK THE BEST ATTACKING TEAM EVERY WEEK. How hard is that? We are LFC. Let other teams worry about us not the other way round.

When we play Chelsea on Tuesday we should sub Carroll on in the first minute.

If you replace 'Spearing' with 'Lucas' on every post on this page, you'll see exactly what WE were saying about Lucas roughly two seasons ago. Turns out we were wrong about him and his abilities. Players usually learn from such experiences, and hopefully Spearing will become a stronger player as a result of it. Spearing (and Henderson, along with the other youngsters on the bench) will learn from this. It hurts me to write this, but yet again; 'maybe next season' (our theme song, it seems)

TL;DR Let's keep the negativity surrounding Spearing away. You're making it seem as if his poor performance was intentional.

McAlien {Ed022's Note - Good post.}

Spot on mate well said

Kieran

I have to disagree with this, don't get me wrong spearing has a great heart and he gives his all, but he just does not have any other good enough traits to warrant being at Liverpool. On your comparison with Lucas, you forget he was voted young player of the year in brazil, a very prestigious award, there was no doubt he had potential it just took a while to settle in, spearing doesn't have this he has reached the best he can be and that isnt good enough.

Kind regards

funny how everyone on here been slating carroll all season now saying how imense hes lookin
lesson lets back our players and give them a chance
same people that slated lucas for seasons now sayin we would of been in top four without his injury
mistakes have been made lets learn from them and build

Todays game
Not a rumour. Just want to say that I think Kenny put forward the best team possible today. Obviously a fit Lucas and Adam would have had something to say about that. Not Kenny's fault we lost the game

Nor was it the players. The effort was there. We huffed and puffed but do not have the quality of the chelsea team or squad and we have to accept that.

I blame nobody for todays loss. Well played Chelsea, you deserved it.

We need to improve the squad desperately for next season but we have a good British core to start with, something I feel is very important.

3 top class additions are vital in the AM, RW and ST positions (no matter who the manager is)

Opinion
Though I do not blame Kenny during this rebuilding phase, I feel it is time to appoint a long term manager. People may see it as a backward step, but imo, Rafael Benitez was the best thing that has happened to us in the last 20 years.

This is not a "Get rid of Kenny, He's useless" argument, just a "Bring back benitez the genuis"

do you think our tranfer targets will remain the same after Dalglish leaves, and do you think they are likely even though we'll probably finish 8th and without any important title?
Keep up the good work mate!

am i the only one who though hendo had a good game? i meen ofcourse his shooting was apauling. but besides that. he got to the box and set up a few.... he seemed to pass well. and everything my thoughts.....shoot me if you dont like em! JLFC

Hendo was decent today.
He is always when he plays in the middle

I agree mate. Think Henderson can turn himself into a very good holding midfielder, pretty similar to Lucas.

We just need flair and creative players added to the squad and we'll do just fine.

And get rid of Spearing!

He was ok but he is not a top 4 player yet he snatches at chances he gets and plays the wrong ball most of the time.

Carroll from the start Chelsea Play 5-4 hard to break down, needed to bypass midfield.. And sorry a keeper shouldn't guess where the balls going, and he's done that all year..

I'm gonna call it because ain't seen anyone else say it

Bring back the boot room!?!?

Carragher, Gerrard and Fowler upstairs

Also did anyone like me see Ian Ayres interview in the buildup, Top guy!
"I've followed Liverpool all over the world for around 40 years, and I've had to come to Wembley 3 times in a suit..... I just wanna put my shirt on and get out in the stands with my mates and a beer jeering the away fans! Not sitting in an executive box"

The Boot Room mentality is the reason we are in this mess!

Carragher, Gerrard and Fowler?? Do me a favour..You don't call in a team of plumbers to fix the electrics...

So a shed a Melwood for the Training staff
To have a cup of tea and a chat after Training. Is in what way going to improve us!!!!

Worst players today
Reina
Spearing
Enrique
Bellamy
Hen do

In that order.

That's about 45 per cent of the starting line up. How can we expect to win with that.
And carra didn't even play.

Time for change, again me thinks.
Red first & last

Enrique n downing need to learn to stop tacking so many touches and just try whippin in a decent cross every now n again play to andys strenghs

Hi ed's, Let's face it lads we lost the battle in midfield today Reina was poor but Spearing was caught out twice far too easily for the goals I'm so happy for Carroll he has proved today why we paid 35m for him unfortunately I think this spells the end for King Kenny who are the most likely managers to replace him ed's?
Cheers YNWA.
Greg. {Ed022's Note - Too early to say mate.}

As KK said, lets take stock at the end of the season and see where we are.

However, I do think KK will have to convince JWH he remains the man for the managers job.

Reina has lost his desire to be at LFC we should sell him get the millions and invest in new keeper asap i would of saved that first goal he should never be beeten at his near post he wants to go let him go

I agree with all but Johnson, I feel that he is a liability as shown in today's match when he lost the ball of misplaced pass. He is on high wages and we should be able to get some of his fee back. Three questions ed's firstly do you think it was a goal? secondly I know that have been trial games with it, how long do you think it will be until it is in the premiership? And finally, not saying there is a link to Liverpool but why do you think van de Weil has never left Ajax, from what i have seen he seems a top quality RB.

Kind regards

The southern red

A pretty intelligent post i agree i think johnson was our biggest threat until carroll came on, who played a blinder. we do have a good squad but very disappointed with reina and enrique. i think enrique took to much out of the ball today, as did downing and hendo until the intro of carroll. hendo broke up their play well. bellamy was unlike himself today and spearing was poor, i wouldve started shelvey instead.

Just finished watching on itv1+1.
Well done Chelsea. We never showed up until big andy got on, as soon as I saw him missing from the lineup I was worried.
On another day we could of won that, a lot of our players let us down badly.
At least it was a half decent and clean game, and no big decisions went against us (not a goal)

Here's to next season.

Carroll proved himself today and that's very good news for LFC.

Reina proved he's on his way out, doesn't look like he wants to wear the LFC shirt anymore.

We'll sell a few and buy a few this summer and be good to go next year.

Evening Eds fellow reds.. Big Andy well done been execellent since Newcastle game. Now we will find out what kind of owners we have, kenny has done his job brought unity back to Liverpool fc.But now we move on or get left behind. If nesv want to show there intent they will need very deep pockets only 4 players there good enough .agger ,gerrard but old suarez and big andy. So time will tell.cheers psv

Johnson was our man of the match until carroll came on in my opinion

After today i have to say a few things.

1) We deserved to win. We had the stronger team with more experience and more quality. The last 20 minutes you had the better of the game because we sat back and invited you onto us. But before that we dominated you.

2) Andy Carroll is the player you should be building your team around for the next 6-7 years. He was my MOM, not Mata, Ivanovic was quality but Carroll changed the whole direction of the game. Suarez is quality but he can't do what Carroll can do on his day. On their best days, Suarez can make chances and score a couple of goals. Carroll can completely dominate a game like he did when he came on today, i would love Chelsea to have him.

3) It was NOT over the line. Anyone who suggest otherwise is a clearly a liar. Enough said.

4) It was a great game. Both teams turned up today and produced. One of the best FA cup finals in years.

5) I hope all the fans who went to the game today get home safe.

OsgoodIsKing

My only debate with point 3) is that Mata's phantom goal was less over the line than Carroll's however it can still be given by a linesman how ever far away he is. Face it, with a different linesman (say for instance Martin Atkinson) we may have been given that goal and the total outcome may have been different at 2 - 2 on a comeback led by Andy.

What we need is Goal-Line Technology. Even if this proved that Carroll's shot didn't cross the line, then at least we would have a consistent decision and no 'phantom' goals again.

It was over the line

Unfortunately you can't see because of the post ... If it was or wasn't GLT is a must!

05 May 2012 20:17:56
Carrol showed today what he could be for us next year but problem is like others in sqad he must learn to be like this games in and out..too many times in games he looses header against 5 ft players.
As for hendo kid got heart but lacks creativity thus needs a creative CM with him in team.
Enrique and downing are just so frustrating they just don't tackel and start n stop all the time..
I feel for JAY he has got heart but no talent..he was at fault with both the goals.
Reina I belive does not have same edge like earlier..he is world class keeper who it seems have lost focus..
After calming down finnaly I belive kenny needs to go because I feel due to his stature there are not many people around him who say no to him which is seriously costing club..
Game has moved on I feel gutted to see a LFC legend be like this..I have watched LFC for over 15 years and this is the worst I have fealt..the gap in league is just huge..
Thanks kenny but its time..

Red indian

Carroll is still only young and consistency is always a problem with youngsters. our team was built for the future so i think even if we buy nobody, we will improve next year. i do want to see another striker perhaps and a rw and a midfielder for maxi.

Well that's the season over. Good effort on actually playing for the last 20 mins of the game!!!
As for Spearing, shouting from the Kop is the closest he should ever be allowed to the pitch..... He's Gash!! Ya can't play him Just because he's Scouse!

05 May 2012 20:17:01
I know its a sad day but why do I only read negativity around? Why only 'Spearing and Downing and Enrique out' but no 'Credit to the team' for giving it their all, even if it was a little too late. We gave them a damn good fight in the last 30. And as for Carroll. Man! Was he determined to show Torres some pure grit though I am disappointed to see that he shall lift the
trophy.

Heads held high to all the gritty Red-men(if any), left out there! YNWA!

Torres didn't lift the trophy, he didn't even celebrate with his team

chelsea didn't win the game today.....kenny lost it.....and gifted chelsea the game from the start. ok he didn't start with caroll, but wtf was he doing, starting a game with 2 out and out wide men an have no one in the box to hold or attack the incoming play........maxi has been a thorn in the chavs side all year, and a no show today., very dissappointed with kenny today, what worked against norwich did not today.....but hey chelsea are not norwich and kenny f***ed up big style today and it was plain to see for all who watched the match. he was gadzumuped by a novice manager in his tactics today, and here was me worried about torres and meireles toady and only one barely featured........kenny you are a legend but this job needs a man with balls, not someone living off past glory's bad day for the reds.......big shout to carroll, fought like a demon
for the cause today, not in it for himself but for the team. he was my motm, not mata.............kenny this jobs too big for you......its a young mans game with fresh ideas, we dont have the players we had in 1986-1989, and the game is million miles away from how it was back then, has kenny moved with the times , i don't know........all i know is andy caroll has an abundance of talent and ability, we just need to unlock it and use it to our benefit........and not play to the oppositions strength........only one real winner today............ bayern....... they must have thought.......to beat chelesa in our own back yard what do we have to do...........simple.......play to our strengths..................not theirs!!!

05 May 2012 20:14:14
The main reason for the defeat today and the majority of our poor season is across midfield we have players that offer as much goin forward as they do defensivley f*** all. Downing. Henderson. And spearing cannot and never will be able to influence a game. We were wide open at times. They passed through midfield with ease. If any of these players play next season we are f*****. I will never pay to watch any of these players again. All those who say give Henderson time.. No....if he gets overun by fulhams midfield on a Tuesday you really think he will start dominating matches..wake up..he runs around like a headless chicken and passes sideways. If he was top drawer he would have shown it by now... dave

05 May 2012 20:13:03
Robbed, absolutely robbed, BUT;
why did we wait for an hour before starting ?
in the 2nd half, why didn't Ramieres fall down the f**king great big hole Downing hid in during the first half
Spearing was poor, yes, but that's about his level - he did his best, he's not quite good enough, but don't slaughter him..

05 May 2012 20:12:53
Reina seems to be getting away scot free here. He's one of a few we'd get a good bit of money for...and not have too much of an impact on the quality of the team. He seems lost, see's Liverpool going backwards and can't make up his mind whether he wants in or out to try and fix the club. Cash in. Too many mistakes as he's not challenging himself anymore.

-Shane.

Ed what u think will happen to spearing he will have it even harder that lucas did will get boo a lot next season {Ed022's Note - I have believed for half of the season Spearing will be sold.}

Must be taking the piss no one in the top three divisions would sign him or hendo or shelvley there s**t would get in my pub team

05 May 2012 20:08:16
I know there's a lot of disappointment , but I thought for long periods of the game we were the better team.

Big mistake in not playing CARROLL from the start.
It wasnt a goal either.

All in all the lads tried just no cutting edge , which is the story of the whole season.

05 May 2012 20:07:50
i said it a million times, get rid of spearing. why on earth did kenny start him?. carroll played well today. we lost against chelsea (who have an interim manager). that is embarrassing. we are behind everton in the league, 100 million spent on players and yet we are no where near the top 4, and we can't even score goals. spearing, henderson, adam and shelvey need to go and others who are not good enough to play for us. this is the worst season in liverpool history. game over, season over. how is this a working progress?. what a f**king joke.

Woah,Woah,Woah....Shelvey should stay.

GuvTOB

Shelvey is an acceptible 2nd player.
Never a first teamer he hasnt proved himself worthy of that position yet.

ltp {Ed022's Note - Oh dear.}

That post's a f**king joke. If you don't rate any of our midfielders except Stevie&Lucas (who I bet you thought should be sold 2 years ago) then who should have started?! We're a work in progress lad and were about a centimetre from taking that game to extra time so let's keep a sense of perspective.

Just want to say I have backed Andy Carroll for a long time and always had faith in him that he would come good (check my past posts if you don't believe me) now he's starting to show what he was doing at Newcastle and he's getting to the back post more and more which is where he should be. Just want to make a point
. Have we not learned from the Lucas situation and now Carroll that these players will come good so lets back them except spearing he just doesn't cut it

Mat lfc

Hear Hear...
Cheers YNWA.
Greg

Disagree.
He has been much better the previous few games.
However we are still lacking so much quality.

LTP

Totally agreed mate, I wasn't fussed when Carroll signed but had faith in him. I still think he'll play an important role for us next season.

Cuchulainn's Hounds

Didn't you just contradict yourself? Spearing is 2 years younger than Lucas. Did you think Lucas 'just doesn't cut it' 2 years ago?

Kieran

But spearing has been trying now for about six years and I don't want to flag the lad off I really don't because he does try his best but the truth is his best is not good enough

Not the happiest day of my life, being a Reds supporter. But just calm down and try and assess. First of all please STOP with the "Spearing this is on you" posts. Agreed it wasn't his best day in the office, but for the first 60 I don't think it was anyone's who wore a Liverbird on their chests.
I know I'll get a lot of flak, maybe abuse too, but as a fellow Reds supporter, just try and think what it'd be like, as a young lad of 23, to be "accused" of "losing" an FA Cup final. I don't think that'll ever quite hurt a Red to be accused of losing a match. We play as a team, we win as a team and bloody yes we lose as a team.
Not just a team of 11 or 18 but as a team of millions.
Spare a thought for the lad. And I think he did hit a couple of good long passes beginning of the second half if I remember correctly.

Yes we lost, yes we lost to the Plastics, but then please let's not behave like them Plastics fans like Shed End.

We're LFC. Not Kenny supporters LFC, not Rafa's Knights LFC, not Spearing out LFC. We are a proud club which has always been known for unity than diversity. Which is why, even though I sit here in Mumbai, never once having been to Anfield, I know, We'll Never Walk Alone.

Heads held high!
sama491

At the age of 23 you're not a lad, in football terms...He's completely out of his depth..

I think enough time has been spent saying how, and when we are going to do this and that.

We are so poor at the moment and need to spend our money much more wisely and efficiently.

LTP

Well put, buddy.

How many people will be on here wanting Kenny to leave? Keep your mouth shut.

Its not his fault, his tactics are a bit off, but we have the right players, a few changes and we'll be fine.

If he is moved back, i hope its not in a poor way, he's the heart of our club. YNWA {Ed022's Note - Just for the record, is this is aimed at me and you telling me to 'keep my mouth shut' as it were, I'd suggest you follow your own advice.}

Kenny is a legend mate and we al love him.

first goal error by spearing, enrique should of had it covered and reina should of saved it.
second goal error by spearing, skirtel should of got closer to block the shot.
kennys tactics were wrong until he changed it when 2=0 down carrol was awesome when he came on maybe proved a few doubters wrong but the blame stays with the boss team selection and tactics cost us.

I would like to say we played a great game. Chelsea are not better than us remember that! We should have tied the game! I'm pretty heart broken like most of you, but remember You'll never walk alone, it's not just a saying it's a way that we Liverpool fans live. We will be back next year.

05 May 2012 20:03:01
I said andy was the future and he's stayin put! Also mentioned reina has been a very weak link this season, Enrique is starting to look like a liability! Bellamy had a shocker and don't get me started on downing! Spearing can't play in big games and kenny needs to give them all a good kick in the arse!! Carroll take a bow son you proved all these so called Liverpool fans completely wrong

05 May 2012 20:02:22
Deflated to say the least after watching that! Don't think the club has progressed at all. Maybe off the field but that's not where its counts on days like this. I feel like KD has steadied the ship, fair enough but now we need to kick on. KD (maybe DC) signed Downing, Henderson, Adam, Enrique, Carrol who have all been poor, that was his chance to stamp his mark on the team but it hasn't happened. Yeah Carrol was awesome today, but all season poor bar a couple of games. Enrique been ok first half of season but dwindled. Where do we go? Ask KD to step down (head held high), I say appoint Brendan Rogers, plays football in the right way, amicable and turns unknowns (like Henderson, Adam, Downing, Carrol) into admirable players who perform. What are your thoughts??

OB1 {Ed022's Note - I've given my thoughts on other posts mate.}

Regarding Rogers, it a bit like a band's "diifficult" second album i.e. see how he gets on next year, it wasn't long ago that Owen Coyle was the white headed boy of the Premier League

Dont Like Brendan Rodgers for LFC manager one gr8 season doesnt make a manager ask hodgson rather see someone with more experience in several leagues and champions league experience maybe dare i say rafa? {Ed022's Note - What's the point in taking a step back?}

Benitez challenged for top 4 every season, came runner-up in the league once, won an fa cup, uefa cup, super cup, carling cup, european cup and we was voted the best team in europe under his management. We got to 2 champions league finals, brought in world class players i.e alonso, torres, mash, agger, reina and he changed the youth academy on its head and its now the 2nd best in the world behind barca.

Fast forward a couple years...we have had 2 succesive seasons not even close to challenging top 4, brought in dross i.e adam, downing and have a carling cup.

Wow and you think Benitez is a step back?

you need your head examining.

Some of the comments on this forum is nothing short of shocking sometimes, honestly.

How is Benitez a "step back"? Bring Benitez back and give him 100million and we would be challenging on all fronts GUARANTEED. I dont think you can deny this Ed022. Benitez would guarantee success under this ownership.

All he ever needed was financial support, that was the only thing missing when he was manager.

What planet are you on mate? Clearly not Earth. {Ed022's Note - Oh and here we go, another absolute arse. The reason I said Rafa is a step back, is because Rafa is in the past, is he not? Don't you think it's about time Liverpool start moving forward with their club rather than relying on old figures who previously helped the club? Rafa did a good job overall when he was at Liverpool yes, but if he were to come back he would demand FULL control of transfers, funding etc - which to me isn't right. A team should have a system of delegation, a separation of powers if you will. Don't start coming on the site and slagging off my responses before you actually ask for my reasons, because you make yourself look like an utter fool, and just end up irritating.}

How is it taking a step back? NO difference than it was rehiring KK Rafa brought us champions league trophy fa cup and finished in the top 4 untill he got fired no? {Ed022's Note - See other post.}

Saying that Ed Liverpool do have a history of buying/hiring people who have done well in the past

05 May 2012 20:01:01
I said earlier that the match will be won in midfield and I was right, Henderson is not first team quality right now and spearing will never be. Stevie G is not the inspirational captain he used to be. Everyone talks about getting strikers which is what we need but to me more important is having a robust creative midfield, we give the opposition too much space there, no pressure and guile. carroll should stay his last few matches has shown he is willing to fight and improve. Maxi should have played he has a knack of being in the right place at the right time and has a good understanding with suarez, Why leave it till the 60th minute to start playing, was it the players or tacticts? Finally, I blame the management for this mess, during the season you will get injuries so make sure that you have good cover for the important areas, no one bought to cover the defensive midfield ie, Lucas no creative player to cover stevie g in midfield and no striking options bought in jan. Henderson Adam and downing just, ain't good enough for the money spent.

We should have kept aquallani {Ed022's Note - No way in hell.}

05 May 2012 20:00:18
next season please stop the changing team game to game. if playing well same players again for next game. this is how you get consistency and please play carroll and suarez together all the time. a real good partnership there if you give it a chance. asell reina to Spain get some decent money , sign vorm from swansea a quality midfielder a winger another striker and with Lucas back we wont be far away. come on the reds

05 May 2012 19:59:38
We are lacking so much quality. Mainly in the midfield.
Other than Gerrard (Who is getting on) we have NO creative midfielder who is capable of pulling the strings and changing a game.

Henderson.Spearing.Downing.Kuyt.Maxi
The above players should all be sold, they do not have the potential and desire to win the league, and lets face it, the league is what we are after !

We desperately need to keep hold of Glen Johnson, he adds so much flare and creativity.

In the summer we need 2 midfielders, 1 striker, 1 winger. I would also like to see us promote some youngsters into the team.

Perhaps play Glen on the RM and have Kelly RB

LTP

Soooooo, You want to sell five players, bring in four players, AND promote some youngsters into the team? By my maths (which is a bit poor), that leaves space for one extra player, unless we're going to drop some of this seasons first teamers into the reserves, in which case we might as well sell them as well. Me personally, I'm not expecting a big influx of players in, a right sided attacking midfielder, possibly another forward (if the price is right), and an attacking central midfielder (ditto), though I'm dot holding my breath on the last two. Outgoings I expect to be a lot more. Maxi, Aurelio, Cole, Aquilani, Kuyt, Johnson (if we get a decent bid), Carra all but retired, plus alot of the lessser youth/reserve players are being released (sorry, I follow Lewis Hatch on twitter, he mentioned this bit!). This would free up room for the better youth players to be put on the bench, and brought on more slowly than dumping them straight in using the "sink or swim" mentality. My choice (I emphasise MY), for next seasons starting eleven (cue the abuse) would be:
Reina
Kelly/Johnson Skrtel Agger Enrique

Gerrard Lucas

??? Suarez Downing

Carroll

Bench wise, please youself, any seven from about 20. Sorry for the long post, bored at work!

Lucas Lovechild

Unfortunately everyones predictions that Spearing was a liability before the game, including Roy Keane! i have never thought he was good enough and it proved again today, he gave the ball away twice and Chelsea scored twice, gutted we lost but i seen some things to be positive about certainly Suarez and Carroll up top would be far more effective if you dont have the quality in midfield as a five, Lucas will be back next year. but Carroll when he has a point to prove he was winning headers, defenders bouncing off him and an all round nightmare i imagine to play against. Henderson looked quite steady in the middle of the park although a bit of shooting pratice and a bit more belief in himself wouldnt do him any harm. but i still think that game today has decided Dalglish's fate, and i believe a new manager will be appointed at the end of the season, I can see talent and promise in some of his players like Carroll, Henderson, Enrique although his form has been poor since christmas. but i have stated before Dalglish's faith in players Like Spearing and the form of Downing have been very poor this will cost Dalglish, Spearing i believe is not good enough for the squad never mind the first team, i dont think he offers anything going forward and defensively the game passes him by. Downing for his price and his amount of England caps has been very disappointing also, but i do see enough talent in the squad with a couple of quality signings we can be a strong team, certainly a winger with pace who has the ability to beat a full back plus i would like to see a bit more of an attacking philosophy, the FA cup final today we looked good when we went for it, because we had to go for it, just that we gave Chelsea a two goal start by worrying too much about their game rather than our own.

Firstly, well done to Chelsea - they were and are much more clinical that us.

The positive from the game are Carroll who played well when he came on and I thought the whole team played well in the last 30 mins.

However an I never like to be crticcal but words ned to be said to the follwoing if they wish to stay as Liverpool players:

Downing - take your man on for goodness sakes and stop bottling challenges

Henderson - relax, take some positive chances

Enrique - wake up and put the ball out when it is required

Spearing and this is really hard but honest to say - you are not good enough to wear a Liverpool shirt - you need to wrok very hard in the off season, build yourself up mentally and physically

New players required (winger, attacking/creatine midfielder and another striker), improvement from the above players and the return of Lucas! - we will improve and defo get top four next season

Andrew F*#%'n Carroll NEEDS to stay!
Henderson needs nurturing
(we paid too much for both but they'll be worth it soon, watch this space)

Spearing might aswell go train with Tranmere on Monday morning because he shouldn't have even been on the coach down

That midfield screamed out for Cole or aquaman to sit in the middle
Carroll should have started
Happy with Defence!
Happy with Carroll and Suarez just need a good player to accompany them
Carragher should go upstairs

We need a new striker
Another winger

Then the obvious..... If someone leaves like Reina you replace them no matter what the cost

That's my say today, someone is going to shoot me down but oh well!

54D13R - red and proud no matter what! YNWA {Ed022's Note - What did Carragher do to deserve being moved upstairs lol.}

Carragher did go upstairs....to collect his medal :)

Cole and Aquaman,
When Dalglish was on the sidelines
and Rush in the stands
I would have given them a run out first.

05 May 2012 19:56:11
Shelvey should have played over Spearing. Clearly he isn't the required quality.
I believe Kenny was keeping Carroll on the bench for the 60min mark knowing that Chelsea Defence would be tired.
What's going on with Reina. Been so poor this season. Maybe his time is up. We should be able to get 20m odd for him and Lloris and Stegen are decent options.
Wholesale changes need to be mad asap.

Hassan

Got news for you Hassan,
Shelvey don't make the grade either. {Ed022's Note - Yes he does, he's a very good player.}

05 May 2012 19:55:14
Totally crushed after that. Feel sad for the club and for Kenny. Whether or not he should stay or go, I'll leave to others to debate right now. What's certain is that nobody loves LFC more than Kenny Dalglish and if he is saddling his horse to ride off into the sunset, I will wish him well, without recrimination or disrespect.

Look lads, whether it was a goal or not, without Andy we weren't good enough. It maybe would have just hidden the cracks over what has been an awful season. This is probably the worst Liverpool side I have seen. Credit to Chelsea however, as much as I hate to say it, lets hope Bayern destroy them in the final!
Also, sickening to Torres celebrating with them.
MIKEYRED

Carroll had a better game then Torres. {Ed022's Note - True dat.}

This side plays a far better football than last year's Roy Hodgson side, by a few miles....there can be no doubt about it....but i'm not sure this year's team would place better than last year's, given the 31 goal frame hits and misses..... ra1969

05 May 2012 19:54:20
chelsea well done on your luck.liverpool took you a hour to get going whats going on.we were robbed by the officials again how many times has this happened this season..kenny will he stay or go big decisions to be made.carroll played well spearing bless him not good enought or is henderson, enrique has been a huge let down.season so far out of ten i would say a 3 .just not good enought and that was a goal fact .walk on
gutted..

Reinas Judgment and body language after a mistake this season as to be Questioned.

Unlucky today I feel.
Spearing, Reina, Henderson, Downing, Enrique, Suarez, Bellamy - I feel diddnt play to their standards today and I must praise Carroll today.
A lesson in defeat is a lesson in strength and I do still think a massive season lies ahead in next season.
I hope KK stays and I'm sure next year his luck will turn.
Lesson today is we need pace at the back and upfront. In my opinion we certainly need another striker, and a winger.
Sketle deserves praise this season.
Hope we win Chelsea in the league and they fin 5th without a champions league win.

05 May 2012 19:52:08
Strangely enough, I'm even more pumped and excited for the next game, yet alone next season now
Andy has filled me with confidence and his name on my new shirt on Friday.
We today saw what andy can do in our team, even when we were diabolical he came on and single had deadly changed the game and possibly got us the draw.
The partnership that we need to create Is Suarez and Carroll this is something that could be very special
Jord

05 May 2012 19:51:14
Well if that's Andy finally coming good, I reckon we'll maybe get the best out of Downing and Henderson by Christmas.

Mr Benn

05 May 2012 19:51:12
Well.. we didnt deserve to win today.. 2-1 was prolly a fair result.. tho had Carrolls goal been given i think we might have won it.. Chelsea looked knackered by then.
Positives for me where Andy Carroll finally coming of age in a red shirt.. looked like a number 9, Hungry and wanted it!
Gerrard is still our main man.. but somehow the pychologists have to get in to the heads of the younger players and stop them playing in awe of him rather than playing alongside him!
Hendo is starting to develope in to a better player.. still hit and miss but getting better..
Agger and Skirtl are defo our first choice now. no question!
Suarez ... just needs more help up front!
We have the makings of a great team.. need a couple of wingers and a poacher tho

05 May 2012 19:50:27
Keep that little pest away from starting XI. His tinny legs aren't good enough. How come we expect to win FA Cup with Spearing starting XI.

Poor tactics from Kenny once again, Suarez would struggle to lead the front line alone and it's Chelsea not Norwich. Should have started Carroll upfront with Suarez also Kuyt instead of Spearing. Bellamy should have come on for a substitute he makes more impact coming from the bench.

No more talking about that controversial Carroll header, if he was a real 35M pound striker he should have buried it in the net.. come on it was a free header!

This is the reason I said stop gloating about wining the double. Now it mean nothing to reach the final.
Carling Cup and 8th with few home wins in years, below Everton.. WHAT WORSE A SEASON CAN BE! Wake up ppl

I just hope Mr. J W Henry has the guts & cash to make the necessary changes. New Manager, New DOF, New players!

Players like Carroll [though he scored the goal that dosen't mean he is the striker we can rely on, our style of play is not suited for him], Downing, Spearing, are not good enough.

Needs to replace the likes of Kuyt, Maxi, Aurelio.
And please don't sell Suarez believe me we won't get a suitable replacement even in our dreams. Players of Suarez quality no longer see us as a big ambitious club any more. A mediocre mid table team.

Bosco

He did bury it in the net. Was he supposed to score through ivanovic and cech? The only way that he could've scored would be to do what he did. His goal was fab anyway.
The price tag means nothing do just shut it nothing we can do about it now

05 May 2012 19:49:54
Reina - Should have done a lot better for both goals. Half-harted dive for the second one.

Enrique - Poor game. Not sure where his good form at the beginning of the season has gone

Skrtle - Could have done a lot better to prevent drogba scoring.

Agger- The only player who tried to up the tempo during the first half. Good runs forward from the defense.

Johnson - Made some good forwards run. But overall, not very effective.

Downing - Couple of decent crosses. Considering he was up against Bosingwa, should have done a LOT better.

Spearing - Simply poor performance. Don't think he is good enough to start for Liverpool, esp cup finals.

Henderson - Usual. Puts in decent/average performance, ineffective.

Bellamy - Average, not as effective when coming off the bench.

Gerrard - He can't both defend and attack at the same time. He is not at the same level now. He can't cover for other players time and time.

Suarez - No support during the first half at all. With the introduction of Carroll, Suarez started to get in the game. But it was already too late. Still, I expected something big from him.

Kuyt - Really couldn't do much coming on that late.

Carroll - Fantastic performance. Really dominated the chelsea defence. Nice first goal, very unlucky for the second one.

Kenny - Well, the season looks really bad now. And when things go wrong, manager is usually the one to pay the price. I don't think he will be the manager next season. Feel sorry for him though.

The team as a whole just could not bring out their best game.

Tekneek

05 May 2012 19:49:01
Think we should definitely keep Andy Carroll, he's starting to show what he's capable of given the chance, on the other hand jay spearing was poor yet again and should get nowhere near 1st team when lucas is back fit, hendo n downing really not doing much either, would like sterling to be given a start for last couple of games.

05 May 2012 19:48:40
dalglish spearing henderson downing has to go pissed off with them all

No wonder you have not put your name

Maybe "Plonker"
Henderson was by far not the worst player
Broaden your Horizons and find another Fall Guy for a change it boring

Lyndon

Maybe not the worst but still crap

05 May 2012 19:48:20
Nite nite KK - it was never in doubt - and even if it was (it wasn't) over the line then remember Garcia in CL - poor poor side - mid table mediocrity with a mickey mouse (ur words wen Utd won it) cup to show - reasons to be happy ? Lol

05 May 2012 19:48:14
Both goals down to spearing not being good enough then Enrique then Reina I've said it all along that spearing is not good enough and be honest if he wasn't a scouser would he still get the backing from the fans because if that was anyone else they would be slated?

Mat lfc

He is fomr the wirral,so he is not a proper scouser.

05 May 2012 19:47:57
Andy Carroll is on form at the min y he didn't start was unbelievable and his goals r cuming spearing s**t Henderson s**t and downing s**t

05 May 2012 19:47:33
Which was more over the line Luis garcia goal or Carrolls header?

Listen, ive heard loads of people call the carroll 'goal' karma for the luis garcia goal which i suppose is fair enough, but just out of interest when lampards 'goal' against germany was disallowed and they called it karma how many of you agreed with them? funny how fans change their tune so the argument suits them!

Carroll, but people forget that cech would have been sent off anyway so...
I'd rather take garcias goal then andy just for the champo league

Both were over, doesn't matter how far. robbed today, despite being keek for an hour

05 May 2012 19:47:24
Anyone who says dalglish was wrong in not starting carroll etc may be right....but honestly, how many of you would have before the game? Do believe dalglish will and probably should go

05 May 2012 19:47:07
I think that's it for Kenny. Thank you for coming in our time of need. Unfortunately it didn't work out but your legendary status remains intact in the eyes of most.

It's very difficult to take this season hopefully next season we can push on....how many times have we said that? (Maybe in defeat we can appreciate victory more)

GuvTOB

05 May 2012 19:46:18
hope kenny realises that jay spearing isnt fit to wear the red ...what a liability he was today ...rubbish

05 May 2012 19:46:12
To my old mate Irish Rover hard luck, but you were never really in it till the last twenty. To all those plastic Scousers like Andy LFC and Blaire Maine who have been boasting on our site for the last couple of months. Why so quiet. One final thing well done agent Dogleash you are doing a brilliant job. I AM KLOOT

KLOOT, what a tool you are. LFC vs 15 boys, cheated out of the cup by pure scum

05 May 2012 19:46:08
Just watched the highlights,spearing was at fault for both goals,not entirely his fault but got cought in possession then caught for pace in the second. personally I thinl LIVERPOOL HAVE The WEAKEST MIDFIELD IN THE TOP TEN, ed wat do u think mate? {Ed022's Note - Liverpools midfield without Lucas isn't the strongest, but isn't the weakest. I personally believe Reina was at fault for the first goal. Goalkeepers are always taught to ALWAYS cover your near post. He didn't.}

05 May 2012 19:45:11
Only started playing in the last 1/2 hour. Carroll was a positive and proved he's got a big game mentality unlike Downing, who has to go now. Henderson and Spearing simply not good enough, not now, not ever. Time to move Reina on - not as good as he thinks he is. Get the money for him now, he' s just not athletic enough. Tell me how many times you'be come away from Anfield thinking that we we had Reina to thank for the points? None. He's not top class, just thinks he is. Could be the end for Kenny now, not sure that's good or bad, just time for a new manager to get more out of the players. Too little too late. Disappointing.
Victor

05 May 2012 19:44:42
Both goals Spearing's fault! USELESS!! Should NEVER be in a Liverpool shirt!!

Agreed.

Kenny should never be anywhere near the first team!

05 May 2012 19:44:37
I love Kenny but that game proved he is not tactically astute in 2012/modern game.

He has to learn quickly or move on. The decision to play Jay spearing against Mata/Drogba was shocking.

I am not asking for Kenny to be sacked but if his tactics do not improve then managent will be forced in to a change.

Steve068

05 May 2012 19:43:25
Really hope Carroll Stays. Hes been performing for a while with commitment and heart and will be a quality player for a very long time.

Unfortunate today, could have been a much better performance but I am cautiously optimistic regarding the future and am sure we will be challenging for the league in a few years.

JTR

05 May 2012 19:43:12
Forgot to add kenny should of brought Carroll on in the first half, I and I'm sure many more fans saw after 20 odd mins that was what needed to happen.

Personally, I felt Carroll should have started. He gets slated a lot, but every game we play with him on the pitch the team create a hell of a lot more chances. Chances are what we needed, shockingly we just didn't make enough today. I can't wait for next season to start and for this year to be over.

credg

Agreed I was unsure about Carroll starting to be honest but after 20 mins I was desperate to see him. Roll on next season.

05 May 2012 19:43:11
Well done Chelsea, played better for 2/3drs of the match and deserved the win. Would have loved the match to go in to extra time as we only really started playing at 60 mins.
Looking forward to next season, Carroll is starting to look the part.

05 May 2012 19:43:08
As one keeper won his side the cup another lost his side it.

Jack the Groove

Jay spearing is number one target today
He was at fault for both goals
Maybe we shouldn't focus on the bad but the good and Carroll

05 May 2012 19:42:14
sad to say but gerrard is a shadow of the player he was, injuries have taken a lot from him and most of the rest of the team dont have the courage to take it on themselves and keep looking for him every time they get the ball in midfield, downing has no confidence at all, keeps cutting in and taking the safe option

What are you on about!
Gerrard was not in anyway the problem today. He had to stay in midfield to help Out the Poor Spearing. Second half got forward and passed the ball well
Why just make something up off the top of your head
You are not a supporter

Lyndon

Lyndon

Go away ya child, cause someone doesnt say something you like??pathetic, everyones entitled to their opinion,'you are not a supporter' gerrard isnt what he used to be,he had little or no impact today,

05 May 2012 19:41:49
big clear out needed spearing should never have played at fault for two goals 1st on pass that any one of us could have made led to goal second diving in on fat frank led to goal henderson never a liverpool player cant shoot by putting foot thru ball always side foots and balloons it , carroll should have started .changed game and was our best player by mile. downing ,no production at all.looks scared to run at a player.and i hate to say it but reina i think should move on .mistakes creeping in to often maybee could have had first should never get beat at near post and kenny too

05 May 2012 19:41:43
I am going to swallow my pride, and admit i may have made a massive mistake. I have on a couple of occasions lambasted Carroll for being utterly useless.
Well after tonights performance i am man enough to admit that i was wrong, and that he is beginning to show massive potential. He was immense.
Well done Andy. Keep it up son....

Gutted about the loss. But that's football. Next season can't come quick enough... YNWA

Good on you to admit you got it wrong. Too few people show that kind of humility.

05 May 2012 19:41:32
a tale of two goalies today. reina no were near previous seasons form and cost us again today . compare with czech ! we all know the boys that aren't up to it apart from that so let's not say there names again. the best thing about today was the emergence of Carroll as our number 9 for years to come. if losing a cup final but gaining a striker that plays like that for the next 5 years we won't be far away. keep the faith. ynwa

05 May 2012 19:41:15
Okay, for next season:
BUY
Elm £8m
Sigurdsson £7m
Adam Johnson £10m
Kalou free

(4-2-3-1)
Reina
Kelly Skrtel Agger Enrique
Lucas SIGURDSSON
JOHNSON Gerrard Suarez
Carroll

SUBS: Doni, Coates, Carragher, ELM, Bellamy, Henderson, KALOU {Ed022's Note - Why the hell would you want Kalou?}

05 May 2012 19:40:52
Today will go down as the day Andy Carroll became the player we hoped we had bought.

It also showed that we lack top class players in CM. Spearing was out of his depth which meant Gerrard had to do both jobs.

Lucas returning will help that.

A good rally in the second half but too late.

Carroll was truly unplayable, and that performance today made me look forward to next season.

If the owners are reading, we need a good DM as cover for Lucas, a replacement for Downing who looked frightened of the ball as he has all season, and a 20 goal a season striker.

1970Red

05 May 2012 19:40:39
Raheem Sterling:

Fans and Eds, please can you tell me more about this guy? I keep hearing people banging on about him but surely if he was that good he would be in the team more often? Is it just a case or people jumping on the bandwagon or is he really that good? {Ed022's Note - He is very good mate. Left winger, very short (but rather powerful), fast, good shot on him, etc.}

05 May 2012 19:40:38
Tactics were poor. As they have been all season. Can't start playing when your 2-0 down.

What was the objective when the game began? Play for 0-0 and penalties? Bizarre, and worst of all, fearful. NOT the Liverpool way.

05 May 2012 19:40:16
Well the positives of the game was Carroll I think we have finally found a forward who can be worth of the 35 million we paid from him and Jordan Henderson actually made movements;passesand shots towards the opposition goal
As for the negatives Reina;Enrique;Downing should all.be sold
Harsh
P.s. I'm not so sad because we almost did score 2 goals and we still are the most successful team in England
Good times ahead and plz back our manager and trust him

05 May 2012 19:40:15
Downing, Henderson, enrique, need to be sols along with all the rubbish KK to go for the good of the club

Here we go!
Henderson was by far not the worst player today but you still manage to mention him.
In the Second half he got forward more than anyone. Bit more confidence he will be sound.
But I doubt he'll get it from the types of you IDIOT

Lyndon

05 May 2012 19:40:02
ITV showed conclusively that AC's header was over the line, then quickly got rid of it and haven't shown it again.

FT

@ FT, I've took a pic of that I'll but it on here.

05 May 2012 19:39:50
Guy I know we all are upset but we should take this as a positive learn from our mistake don't make stupid signing try and get a good manager a hope this season don't happen again that's what I think liverpool should

05 May 2012 19:39:48
Does anyone out there, except for Kenny, really believe Henderson is our talisman of the future? I can't understand how he starts every game. Spearing was a tactical blunder, and Downing sometimes looks like a true winger, so I can understand the decision they started. But what does Henderson bring? Anything? If he doesn't screw up a bunch of times everyone seems to think he had a good game. In first half Chelsea would take it from him at will. I can't say I saw him do ANYTHING all year, except for a goal against Bolton, which I think gave us all false hope.

Carroll really looked like a beast though. His foot work was awesome on his goal. Won every header available. Can't wait to bring is some players who know how to pass to him (which means replacements for Downing, Enrique and Henderson).

Coop {Ed022's Note - I do believe it yes. Henderson is a quality player, and will come good. However, perhaps it's best he is loaned out to another PL side, as he's really struggled in a Liverpool shirt this season. Some players require patience, and he is one of them.}

05 May 2012 19:38:21
I never ever want spearing or henderson to play for liverpool again, i blame spearing for this loss his mistake lead to the first chlesea attack/goal. He has never been good enough dont know people think he is now and enrique and bellamy also played poor frustrating games too.

RDR

05 May 2012 19:38:12
fu**ing jay the so called spearing iv said this for ages now the lad is proper garbage every single time we play him we get beat . and what happend today we took him off brought carrol on the game changed . o and spearing was to blame for both goals.

that I think Roy Keane is total t**t.
Why oh why does he go on any commentary team.

05 May 2012 19:36:30
Look we are all gutted, everyone knows the lads who didn't play well and yes we were tactically very poor in the first half but lets have the post mortems later and just say that the lads did the club proud today and unlucky on them. I don't like saying it but the better team won. Fair play to Andy, I have criticised him before but had a massive impact when coming on, promising for the future. Feel sorry for Jay, he loves Liverpool but just isn't anywhere near playing at the the top level. Well done Chelsea.
The Gooch.

I personally think we are way off challenging for the league.
We are lacking so much quality ATM. Our bench was so weak to theres.

They played rubbish do no they didn't do u proud. Only person who actually looked
Good was any Carroll....and thats when it realised upon me that we have serious problems!

05 May 2012 19:35:43
Poor very very poor. Andy was fantastic Chelsea players did my head in with the rolling around for no reason and why oh why did the ref blow for the free kick when Suarez who was shocking was in a great position to tap in at the near post but we lost. The season is done and next season can't be as bad as this one. A few days to get over it then the optimism will start for next season and hopefully a good transfer window

We Now know Carroll can truely Change a game Big Plus

Grudgingly well done to Chelsea

Kenny needs to make some big changes this summer.

The Liver Bird

I pray God it won't be Kenny making big changes come Summer

Hope he is the first. Noel C

Yeh leave that's what shuld do

But will he be there to make them?

Well if Kenny was as responsible for our transfer policy last summer as Commolli then no I would not trust him to make the changes. Not convinced that is the case though.

The Liver Bird

05 May 2012 19:33:14
Did feel sorry for you guys but I didn't think the ball was fully over. On the other hand we played better for two-thirds of the game, and (never thought I would say this) without Andy Carroll you were not in it at all.
Rowan

05 May 2012 19:33:07
Well done andy shame about the decision. That's what happens when you fear a team and are too scared and anxious to do anything. Massive learning curve for our new players hopefully they will take something from this and improve as players. Not sure where we go from here with new manager new players ins and outs ect but something needs to be done and soon. Anyway i will be dignified in defeat well done Chelsea and chin up lads we will be better next season. YNWA

05 May 2012 19:32:36
Andy carrol amazing give him credit he made this final respectable. Reina out very slack this season ramires goal is terrible he should have saved it no matter wether he went other way it hit him snd went in, spearing what the hell does kenny see in him we can all see it so why is dalglish different? Hendo hes got time on his side hel come good not first team material yet. Downing is very very poor, really poor hes scared from tackles hes so slow he drops all the momentum. Truth is liverpool are painful to watch with these tactics were not dynamic no players in box no creativity how can so much money be spent so badly its soo soo bad. Skrtel immense. Kuyt is finished. Maxi should havd been on for downing he has a great record against chelsea. Our season has now been a failure end of no two ways about it won fa cup, acceptable but dummy cup victory cup final and 8th perhaps 9th. Do u know whAt i think liverpool fans need to start being more decisive with there support show that were not happy nor when one game won its dalglish dalglish. Boo players that are not playing great show our disaproval we are known for never letting team down but unless it changes we are getting knowers fast because dalglish will be here next season the owners have made that perfectly clear

Go support someone else you utter tool.

Kieran

05 May 2012 19:32:20
Well Kenny has had is chance, I think we all agree that we would allow him to the end of the season.
100m spent and the Carling cup to show for it, league position is shocking. 4th was meant to be Min!.

Rafa Benitez now 4/1 to come back. We need big changes, simple as that in my view.

In Raffa we trust, beating Chelsea was 2nd nature back them, so was CL football :(

rushdentillidie

05 May 2012 19:29:30
Too bad for wee Jay Spearing. He was never good enough to play in this game, and I am sure he knows it. Kenny had that one way wrong. Both goals due to Spearing's mistakes, and we didn't even look like a team until he came off and Carroll came on. Carroll did well, no doubt, but Spearing coming off was equally effective improvement. Who would have thought Spearing to start in FA cup final? Nobody but his mum and ofcourse, Kenny Dalglish.

Oh well. Sentimentality has been kenny's weakness all year. That and no tactics.

05 May 2012 19:29:29
Have already heard one Liverpool say the word 'unlucky.' Sorry lads, can't except that anymore, half of ye just didn't start playing until 60 minutes...and the other half didn't show up at all.

-Shane.

05 May 2012 19:29:22
Well this has just capped off a truely awful season. Why do we allways start off so slowly? Why do we need to be 0-1 down or 0-2 down before we see a response? I'm not going to blame the manager or the player's it's just down to us not being good enough and them having luck.

Season over what a waste!

Good luck Bayern let's stop these cheating, lucky other's from getting there hand's on the Big one!

Gutted tonight, but last 30 minutes showed real promise, (Hendo, Downing, especially Carrol!) not completely down. Keep the faith, the future is bright!!

05 May 2012 19:28:33
Hello to all, well it is hard luck to us and let us look forward to the future, and take all th epositives from today. Carroll was absolutely fantastic, creative he even tracked back won the ball and all. The team as a whole played well, just the first half let us down.
Let's look forward to next season, plan ahead and chins up we did what we could it's not always going to go our way.
Let's learn from our mistakes, and move on. The lads did well they can now think of next season and prepare accordingly. EDs what are your thoughts and take on events?
hibsylfc {Ed022's Note - I was wondering when someone would ask me. As a Liverpool fan, I'm outraged. The performances of the players for 60 minutes were disgusting. I feel they didn't play for the badge, the club or even the manager. They played like a bunch of kids over the park after a long day at school. Now I won't slate individual players at the minute, but some players were damn right disrespectful by their piss-poor attitudes. Carroll for me, was outstanding. What a performance and shift he put in for our club, even though he's probably had the worst time.}

What would your next step be ed022 for lpool, we do need to improve in certain areas, so if you had your say what will your plan be ,and please include any buys you would make as well. Thankyou.
I feel awful maybe your answer will make me feel better.
hibsylfc {Ed022's Note - I'll start off by saying that these are just my opinions, not fact, and I am in no way a fortune teller or anything that involves seeing the future. If I was in charge of the entire club (which I'm not), then I would start by preparing for our next game. However, I would make it clear that the places will be selected on training alone, and not merit. I would personally drop Reina to the bench unless he gave his all in training, so make it clear that he isn't irreplaceable. I would immediately start looking for candidates for the managers position, and do a little scouting into them as individuals. Come the end of the season (perhaps before) I would ask Kenny to move upstairs, and then draw up a final shortlist of 3 candidates. Eventually, I would appoint AVB as he's available, has PL experience and is young. I would then try my best to sign Ramirez, Susaeta, McCarthy, Vorm and Soldado or M.Suarez. I'd also look for another holding midfielder, or perhaps try and pursue Alonso again. I would also then try and set up a team which play in a 4-3-3 position, but then have the versatility to switch into a 4 2 3 1, 4-4-2 etc etc. Does that cover it?}

Spot on ed...most of our players looked like they wernt even bothered....lost the ball too easily passing was horific...and there positioning was all over the place....

When people say move upstairs are they talking about Kenny as a DOF.

Ed001 enlightened me as to what that position entails and i can't see him being right for that.

Perhaps a role as an ambassador would be more fitting.

GuvTOB

Thanks for the response, but about avb I remember when ancelotti was sacked he had a clause where he could not work anywhere for a whole year. Do you think avb would have something like this? Thanks again.
Hibsylfc {Ed002's Note - That clause was negotiable and adjusted the payment made when he left.}

Well done Chelsea, worthy winners.
Can't argue that they were the better team on the day, and deserved the win.
Sad about the result!.
Shankly's Red Army.

05 May 2012 19:31:16
Really bad management. Lucas gets injured and who do we have as replacement: Spearing.

The jay Spearing final.

He should never wear red shirt again.

Ferguson would not forgive him and Kenny should not forgive him too. He is Championship player at best.

Steve068

05 May 2012 19:30:47
Kenny has to go! He should step down now. He should make the announcement while he is at wembley!

05 May 2012 19:30:33
Gutted but proud of the boys, though we were abysmal in the first half. Pleased for Carroll for getting the goal; superb finish. He's going to be big next season. For now, I want us to win at home on Tues to knock them off that CL spot. Carroll to score again! Singred

05 May 2012 19:30:22
HEY LFC FANS...

I guess one thing is for sure.......................

liverpool WILL AND SHOULD...go through many changes in the summer.............because 1 small cup and the worst league finish should WAKE UP the owners into taking drastic action..

so thats what i am waiting for .................u could see the classLESS midfield we had.............
and it was easy for lampard and mata and ramires........

i think lucas gerrard and lets say...a ball playing midfielder(technical) would have been a much better force

so try to look at it as....maybe this result is a good way to say....hey..this team is weak..to the owners

LETS HOPE FOR THE SUMMER PPL

05 May 2012 19:27:02
Where was the second half Liverpool team when we were getting beat by the likes of Westbrom,QPR and Blackburn?? Second half today, it was the best i have seen them play all season. Hope big Andy stays i really think he has a big future at the club if the right people can support him with the crosses and passes. Great page ED's

That's because Chelsea switched off after 2-0. I don't think Chelsea stepped out of 2nd gear the entire match.

05 May 2012 19:26:59
So eds any thoughts after the match to share with us on match and evaluation of season etc
TheJoshster {Ed005's Note - I thought the wrong team was on from the start. Knew Suarez would be isolated until Carroll came on. Chelsea didn't create much in the way of chances but two shocking pieces of play from a shocking player in Spearing cost us the game. Also a boob by Reina.}

05 May 2012 19:26:05
Carrol improved the team, been an advocate the whole time (search my name) but hopefully the owners will strengthen our weaknesses. Our midfield could not handle theirs in the first half, until we had a target to aim at. This is the advantage to having options such as Andy. If we can't play through, he is there to help, and vice versa. Congrats to Chelsea, de mateo has done well. What an exiting final. Disappointed though.

05 May 2012 19:25:52
i hate chealsea so much.where the fecking hell is goal line tecnolagy i had my shirt off but then saw that play was still going on for some reason.how was mata MOTM it was defeintly AC.
for the 1st 60mins chealsea played good but then came on big andy and destroyed them.Suarez was isaleted up fornt by himself.
OMFG its so annoying why was AC left on the bench and what a bad goal for chealsea to score first why did jose enrique not run back and unlucky martin skertel for the second one going through your legs.

05 May 2012 19:25:37
Kenny why did u not play Carroll straight away?! He's being getting into form so u sub him?! Wtf also spearing I'm sorry he tries hard but he just ain't good enough them 2 goals were started by him :((

05 May 2012 19:25:14
Really can't expect to win a cup final by only putting in real effort for 30min.
Disappointed yes, suprised no!.
Peformances throughout the season don't lie.

05 May 2012 19:25:11
both Chelsea goals had a common denominator, mistakes by Spearing and Reina

05 May 2012 19:24:50
To all of Liverpool fans I can say it was 100% NOT over the line as I have used lee Wallace goal that should have stood

05 May 2012 19:24:03

05 May 2012 19:24:00
Liverpool through and through!! :'( keep the faith!

05 May 2012 19:23:55
Andy Carroll - Welcome to Liverpool, you earned your shirt today. Scored two goals today. We were robbed.

On another note, I'm watching such biased commentry. Southgate going though the replay and saying no way
to call it. But it is easily a goal from the side, when you can
see the goal posts from the side. Was a goal.

YNWA Reds.

Never a goal.

05 May 2012 19:23:16
Smart to shut off eds. Surely you will be bombarded.

Overall, second half made us look the better team, though surely Chelsea were tired.

Breakdown:

Enrique: Had a horrid first half. He and Downing had hot potato that neither wanted and both gave away with ease. Improved in second half, but I am skeptical that he is our LB solution watching him get worse as season has drawn on. Was getting schooled by Ramires until Ramires ran out of steam.

Agger: Solid.

Skrtel: Solid, except for Drogba goal.

Johnson: Solid defensively and offensively he looked inventive cutting in.

Gerrard: No complaints, but didn't do much until some decent long balls late in second half.

Henderson: What can I say? We all have seen how useless he is all season. Today was no different. And he even started shooting today?!?!?!? Unfortunately, no shots came within 100 feet of goal.

Spearing: I guess this was tactical to control Mata. If so, failed miserably. Spearing did not win tackles, nor pass. I was elated when he came off.

Bellamy: Ineffective since he was chasing back on defence all first half, then lost all energy it seems.

Suarez: DIdn't get a touch first half. Was starting to look lively second half, but was isolated for far too long.

Carroll: Dominant in second half. One bright light from this game.

Downing: Utterly incompetent first half. Little more in the second. He is one player (along with Henderson) who I really feel have no role on our beloved team.

Reina: Looked weak on both goals.

Kuyt: Not enough time to judge.

Summary: We were made to look much better after Chelsea got tired, however, there is so much work to do for next season. Start with unloading Downing and Henderson or demote to youth squad.

That's all for this year! Can't wait for rematch with Chelsea next week. Will anyone even want to play?

Canada Red

Agreed, 1 positive out of the game is carroll's looking brilliant, last few games his performances have just got better

Slating Henderson and Downing? You idiot.

Jatt YNWA

Henderson played well when big andy came on and he is a million times better than spearing anyway
Andy Carroll should be the only thing remembered about this game as he was awesome

Thx for constructive comment Jatt. My mistake. Henderson and Downing have been brilliant all year.

05 May 2012 19:22:24
Shocking first half. Kenny's poor tactical decisions cost us again. Clearly Terry and Ivanovic aren't no Norwich defenders so why did Suarez have to lead the line on his own when clearly he isn't a target man. Now Spearing clearly isn't no Mascherano so why play him against players such as Ramires and Mata? Clearly Kenny's going to have to leave. I still wish Rafa was here continuing his project. Screw those two American cowboys!

05 May 2012 19:22:20

05 May 2012 19:21:23
Spearing's worst game for me. At fault for both goals and proved not able to play at very top level. Shame.

Should never wear red shirt again. Sorry but if you want to win things you have to be cut throat.

steve068

Agree totally, spearing is shocking.

05 May 2012 19:20:37
So much money wasted if he became DOF it will be same crop the modern game as leave him leavehim him

05 May 2012 19:20:20
We were awful for 60 minutes no shape heart and effort and we deserved to loose the cup..
Can we now just sack this awful manager and sell these average, expensive players who lack basic talent.if this is the best henderson, enrique and likes of downing do then we are doomed.

My problem is too many of these average players only show heart, effort for minutes in games they don't tackel..
They have let down our great club in league and may be not winning FA cup will show owners true face of this ordinary, expensive and most talenless team.
You play for 90 minutes not 60..also it was not a goal as per me..
Red indian

Why didn't you mention Carroll having a fantastic game when he came on? As opposed to being absolutely negative.

Alex

05 May 2012 19:20:07
well, absoluteley gutted, have to say kenny should have made the change of carroll for spearing in the first half, left it too late, rob b

05 May 2012 19:19:50
Downing, Henderson, Spearing all very disappointing today, not good enough for LFC.

05 May 2012 19:19:47
To be honest we didn't deserve to draw or win the game from the first half, but we battered themin the second and andy Carroll was absolutely phenomenal when he came on.
Scored a great goal and scored another but it was disallowed which is a joke it crossed the line and we have been cheated out of an extra time performance which would have been fantastic
Bitterly disappointed obviously and I hate to say it, but goodbye kenny

Yep, congrats..

It WAS over the line btw. No mentioning(which annoys me) the Garcia goal because Cech would have been sent off anyway...Everyone seems to forget that.

Left it too late...why?

05 May 2012 19:18:29
Damn i feel gutted..we need Carroll next season! he has improved well..

05 May 2012 19:18:03
Difference wasn't Carroll coming on... but Spearing coming off! {Ed022's Note - I'd say both.}

I have to say Spearing looked like a little boy lost. I thought with the big pitch, he might be the weak link and so it proved.
He was at fault during both goals. Too small, too slow and not good enough, technically.
But overall, I think Chelsea deserved it.
Rigsby.

05 May 2012 19:17:52
we lost. how can we win such big competations when we have spearing and enrique bellamy playing for us. common kk please buy a quality players now. sell spearing, enrique, bellamy, joe cole, aqualini, pachecho and please buy some good players. we dont want to be seen 9th place and 1 cup defeat next year.

redh0t

Bonk off lad, Spearing, Enrique, and Bellamy? Three of our best players all year who didn't play well in one. Sorry for your idiocy. :)

McSnuggles {Ed005's Note - Spearing is shocking. Works hard but has no tecnical ability whatsoever. Not LFC standard, not top PL standard as he showed today.}

Sell Enrique? No offence but I think your off your rocker with that one mate, one mistake in a game does not discount an amazing season from him.

Ska-oop

P.s. Really think we need another DM with Lucas next season, Spearing just isn't up to the job I am afraid :(

Right to be honest lads...bellamy fair enough hes had a good season....enrique started well but now annoys me as he thinks he christiano ronaldo in defence and loses the far 2 much..as for spearing utterly crap.

05 May 2012 19:17:18
that was somewhat undeserved probably earned extra time. but come onnnnn when are we gonna get this goal line technology... not saying it was over or not but we need a way of being sure about it.

YNWA JFT96 The Guv 81-9 {Ed022's Note - I'd say the better team won overall. I'm just as gutted mate.}

I dunno ed I kinda feel that they won because of our bad mistakes rather than their quality by the way how quite were the chelsea supporters? no wonder terry said he couldnt hear them when he plays
The Joshster {Ed022's Note - Yeah I know mate, Chelsea fans to me are one of the worst in the league. But that's just my opinion, and it isn't all Chelsea fans.}

05 May 2012 19:15:20
How good was Carrol? Too little too late in the end but why does it take teams until 2-0 down to start playing? Have to say though at times we looked like a mid table team and that hurts me to say it. It's going to be an interesting summer and I'm actually really glad that this season is over because it's been terrible in the league.

05 May 2012 19:15:14
Hello Eds,
a sad evening after the final. So was this season a success? NO. It was a very poor season, with lucky carling cup win. Nothing more. In Liverpool we trust. Especially between now and a new season to make some good changes. Honestly, they play bad football, not up to standard of this great club.

05 May 2012 19:14:57
Reina at fault for second goal beaten at the near post again for the Oh I don't know lost count how many times he has been beaten at the near post this season

Enrique at fault for first gooal he (enrique) thinks he's fast but he's slow compared to Ramires.

On a positive note Carroll played very well

And before the stevie bashers come out to play with no defensive midfielder out there apart from himself it severely restricted the great man's forward runs.

The goat of mendes

What fookin person disagrees

05 May 2012 19:14:43
The most frustrating thing is that everyone could see the problem after 10 minutes...but still Carroll didn't come on until 54 minutes.

-Shane.

05 May 2012 19:14:35
To ANDY LFC, ha ha loser how do you feel you annoying idiot. Lets all laugh at ANDY LFC lmfao.

Well...huhhh huhh huh...so, like which one are you, Beavis or Butthead? Gotta be the latter... :-)

Well done LFC for getting to the final, and Chelsea for winning something this year.

05 May 2012 19:13:49
Wouldn't normally have done this but since he's been boasting about it for the past month or so,

Andy LFC,

How was the FA Cup win today? Oh wait...

05 May 2012 19:13:44
That's what happens when you continue to play players who are simply not good enough. That game was lost on the first half performance when Spearing, Henderson and Enrique were not good enough (and for that matter, haven't been good enough all season).

It is time for some serious thinking by the owners, because if Kenny really continues to say that these players are good enough, then in my opinion, changes in the management need to be made. None of the three players mentioned would get in any other top 6 side. That is a fact.

Final comment for big Andy, I thought he was awesome when he came on. He really caused Chelsea problems and but for a fabulous save from Cech, would have equaled the game for us. Lets play him constantly and start having a real go at teams.

ConnorsLFC

Enrique? Shut up you idiot

Enrique has been solid this season but has looked a little tired in his last few matches but aside from that I agree I think a new manager and look is needed but at least carroll looked awesome finally

I hope someone is able to dig up a video from directly facing the goal line. Looking at the second goal by Carroll, it looks like the ball is 3/4ths in from an angle, so it must have been in, for sure. Reminds me of Lampard's forgotten goal from the World Cup.

Everyone played well except Spearing, Henderson, Downing (the usual suspects)...But, Chelsea used the same tactic and strategy (used so well against Barcelona) of sitting back and soaking up the pressure. Jose Enrique and Glen Johnson had a field day on the wings. Ribery and Robben will demolish Chelsea if they are given the same amount of space. Andy Carroll finally earned a week's pay ;-)....ra1969

Re the 'Enrique, shut up you idiot' comment above, 2 things....

1. He was terrible, yes TERRIBLE, in this game and has been for the last 2/3 months when played......Take a hard look son. If you really think he is good in the modern day game, then you really need to get your eyes tested and watch more high grade football. When Enrique first joined he was better, but as the season has gone on, he has got steadily worse to the point that he is even finding it difficult to pass to anyone in red, unless he turns back towards his own goal.......If you think he has been good enough then god help us....

2. Have some manners, no need to be abusive.

ConnorsLFC

05 May 2012 19:13:14
Shocking decision to start with spearing. He looks a boy amongst men. Wigan player at best. Disappointing day but positive performance from Caroll. Enrique was pretty poor too.

Swop him for J McCarthy from Wigan. Noel C

Mmm ".....Wigan player at best....." so you wouldn't take James McCarthy as his replacement

05 May 2012 19:12:55
Truly gutted about the result. However, delighted for Andy Carroll, who came on and changed the whole performance in his best game in a red shirt. I do think the ball crossed the line, and the luck sums up our season. GP29

although reina was poor today {Ed022's Note - How is this an abusive post? You tell me what part of this post is verbally abusive towards the player himself? It isn't. It's stating that Reina needs to try, and should have stretched for the save. Not that he's a bald piece of crap etc etc.}

Ok its more offensive than abusive seems a little hypocritical given past comments but whatever still think u do a good job so ill say no more

i think torres will come off the bench and grab a brace..
also you say we're in decline.... the biggest game of your season and your playing spearing, henderson and downing...

05 May 2012 18:15:49
i have never seen a more lacklustre performance than this. No passion in the game at all. No-one has shone for me other than Martin Skrtel and we really need to step it up in the 2nd half. Come on lads!

05 May 2012 18:15:19
Spearing just not good enough today.

Enrique is the worst left back Liverpool have ever had. Should be given away in summer or paid to leave. He is awful.

05 May 2012 18:11:16
Soft goal! Reina again gambling and it not paying off.

Other than that Chelsea haven't threatened too much, it's more our lack of incisiveness that is our undoing. I find myself agreeing with ITV pundits for once.

Downing needs to attack their right back and Chelsea's weakest link in Bosingwa, we need to get bodies in the box in support of and beyond Suarez. We're very static at the minute, lack of movement.

Story of our season. I know we like to make it hard for ourselves in finals, but we haven't got a foothold in this match yet.

RedSG

I'm glad to say we did all the things I was asking for in the last 30 mins, just a shame we couldn't do that for 90 mins.

That's the Andy Carroll we signed from Newcastle, not the poor imitation we've seen for a majority of his time at the club. Let's hope he builds on that, I personally think that performance has won him a seat on the plane to the Euros.

RedSG

05 May 2012 18:10:16
Disagree with me as much as u want but if we continue to play division two football then we might as well let Chelsea have the FA cup now.

Negative football, tactics all wrong hence suarez hasnt even had a sniff of the ball, no lfc players have stepped up to the plate to take charge of the game!

05 May 2012 18:10:16
Typical Spearing. That's why everyone thinks he's sh*t. And what the hell was Riena doing?

05 May 2012 18:09:45
Suarez has been isolated up front on his own, Bellamy has not got enough of the ball and is running too narrow, Downing and Enrique need to realise they are on the same team.

Enrique had a great start to the season but has dipped and rested on his laurels.

Carroll should be playing to help knock balls on for Suarez. That's the only way we are going to get back in this thing.

Phill Dowd is a twosser, Agger didn't deserve to be booked for his tackle on Obi, the ref should have been understanding, it's a cup final and tension is high, instead Dowd pushes Agger for a reaction and then books him whilst on an ego trip.

05 May 2012 18:07:41
well i know its gonna sound pessimistic but unless kk does something to the midfield for the second half i honestly cannot see us getting anything out of the game. saurez has been isolated up front, downing just doesnt want to run at the defenders, and gerrard seems to be doing the work of spearing and henderson as well as trying to play his own game. plus reina is not on form. we seem to play to many back passes and not enough going forward. please kk do something for the second half.
please dont slate me just being honest.

Disorganised confusion thats all there is to say....cant blame Spearo the lad keeps getting picked when hes mid table at best, Enrique looks nothing like the lad we signed first half of the season....No-one to hold the ball up, Downing having an absolute mare wish hed stop playing it inside and back and just drive on!..... dare i say it we look a sight better with the big lad playing next to Suarez and Dirk on the wing........not happy upto now...hope it gets better...Come on you Reds!

Jay Spearing yet again loses the ball and goal scored from it.

At least we can't blame carra for that s**te, first half. They look half asleep.

05 May 2012 18:02:32
As bad a first half as it can ever get.
Chelsea just sitting back, knowing we can't break them down. Frustrating. So many average players out there who don't want responsibility.

-Shane.

05 May 2012 17:58:47
Enrique doing everything wrong so far

05 May 2012 17:56:50
spearing n henderson in there . xavi n iniesta cudnt , well they wont

05 May 2012 17:56:41
I hope our tactic is to lull Chelsea to sleeep with ridiculously boring football, and then come out strong in second half.

05 May 2012 17:55:29
It is 37 mins gone and we are one down, Kenny has to change this and put Spearing and Enrique out of their misery...They look totally out of their depth.

Please Kenny, make some changes and have a go or this game will be gone before you know it....

If Kenny can't see the failings of this line up...........

05 May 2012 17:53:14
Enrique and Downing can't do anything and yet every play forward goes left. What is going on? Why not give Bellars and Johnson a chance to try something? I hope a new team comes out second half or we are toast. Suarez has not touched ball. Take off Downing and put on Carroll. Move Stevie G back to midfield, where he is anyway. Lob it down and hope Carroll can knock one down to Suarez. Looks like our only chance to be honest. Chelsea look way too comfortable.

05 May 2012 17:51:50
Is this not terrible, the balance and fluency of the team is completly wrong. What is he trying i cant aork it out before the game i said play gerrard behind suarez when torres was here they done it against norwich . What i cant work is gerrard is playing in like 3 cm role. Gerrard should be in like 2 with suarez shocking tactics team selection just anout right but formation is unbelivable no other words for it we dont get enough in box nothing sticking. We are stuck in a time warp with dalglish at helm not moving forward. Does it look to you that the players know ots a make or break gane for season?

05 May 2012 17:39:31
Downing already looks shell shocked. 3 times he has gotten ball on wing, and lost all 3 on simple back passes. Very worrisome. This could be a thumping from Chelsea

Hi Liverpool fans...a Gooner here...just watched an absolute horror show, and it was real. Norwich did well to be fair but now we have screwed up our chances of CL football next season. Now its really upto you guys to stop Chelski's momentum and please win the FA cup. I think if Chelski lose then it will have a massive effect when they play in the CL final but dont worry about them just perform well and beat the hell out of them (ps. well even if you win on pens thats good enough)...come on Liverpool !! {Ed022's Note - Good post mate.}

Oh and I forgot about downing....£20million wasted on $h!te!

Whats worse is why play Downing who is only known to be good at crossing with nobody to cross to. Henderson and Spearing also ineffective

I'm really nervous about today. Most of the last finals that we have played, have been against lesser opposition, notably west ham and Cardiff. No doubt that Chelsea will be a tough opponent but you can only think of us winning, if you contemplate losing then you may as well give up now.

Paul Merson is a complete and utter tw@ slating shelvey, henderson and spearing I'll admit their not amazing but what he doesn't understand is that henderson and shelvey are young and have a lot of potential....but merson being the d!ck that he is saying they wouldn't even get into the chelsea squad...I bet henderson and shelvey would

What planet are you on? Henderson and Shelvey get into the chelsea squad, over ramirez, meireles, lampard, essien, mikel, romeu etc you obviously have very little knowledge of football or just haven't been wtahcing it this season. They'd probably just about get into sunderland or something.

Just a quick point about the double standards of footy fans in general. I really feel for all the travelling Kop today with all the travel chaos and delays. The thing is, everyone is moaning that it's disgusting and unfair for the football authorities to put sponsorship and money ahead of the needs and welfare of supporters. Without a hint of irony, they're then going on to say how important it is to finish in the top 4 because we'll miss out on all the lucrative Champions League TV money, bonuses and sponsorship and endorsement money which means that we won't be able to afford whichever player is flavour of the month on FIFA12. Sorry people, but we can't have it both ways, we either accept that the FA and UEFA shaft us all for the sake of money or we stop moaning that we can't afford to buy the Cavanis and Hazards of the world. It's the world we live in unfortunately. Football has changed and not for the better, but it won't be changing back any time soon.

Good luck to the redmen today, and a safe journey to all our travelling reds. Let's smash these plastic flag wavers all the way back to Battersea Dogs' Home.

Hey, I'm an everton fan but I would like to wish Liverpool the best of luck today, I hate Chelsea more than anyone and it topped it off with the booing of Hillsborough. And when everton got to the final a few years ago they were chanting "Madeleine McCann, where are you?" I think that is disgusting! So c'mon Liverpool! I hope you win!
{Ed022's Note - Great post mate.}

Many thanks Mate

Class neighbours Everton

Thats a top post. Thanks mate

I'll tell you this of chelsea they are vermin! a small club with basically a 10 year history! believe it or not dont count corporate or fans from a far who only support them cause they've win a few things! just counting proper fans their only the fourth best supported team in london behind s west ham, arsenal & spurs!

No matter what team you support on Merseyside, our fans have always had a touch of class.

Thanks mate...

10 year history? Top 6 for 6 seasons running BEFORE Roman, Fa Cup 97 and 2000 BEFORE Roman, Directly before Roman we were miles above where you are NOW, think before you speak toby

Ok you had 2 more cups well done BELL.

F**k off Chelsea FC, you ain't got no history, 5 European cups and 18 leagues, that's what we call history !

SHED going on about History. You wouldn't even go there on a Liverpool forum if you had half a brain :(

We've won more than 2 cups pre Roman you toby, just pointing out that however insignificant you think we were before Roman, thats where you're at now. Liverpool FC is just not significant anymore regardless of your history. You should all be grasping this by now, you will all be a lot happier when you come to terms with the fact you are now a mid table team and adjust your expectations accordingly

I think football has evolved over the past 10-20 years to the point where winning a cup is nice, but it's not as important as finishing in the qualifying positions for the champions league.

If you can finish in the top 4 and somehow win a cup that is brilliant.

Being in the top four evolves your club onto the next level (even if it's your first season qualifying for it in a very long time).

Suddenly you are seen as a viable club to move to for the so-called elite players. 1 or 2 of these into your team can transform your play, results, success.
The money that comes with finishing in the top 4 (even if you don't win a single champions league game) is enough to purchase a top player with money you would have had to find from elsewhere (so basically it's a free signing).

I love to win cups, it a good day out and you can celebrate if you win. However, being in the champions league is another level.

I really hope we win today, especially as we have no hope of finishing 4th this year.

I just hope next year we do finish in the top 4 as that could really move us onto that all-important next level.

people who think lfc will buy all the european elite players are a bit optermistic- they don't want to to be playing Thursday night football when they could be playing champions league. therefore I think these are liverpools possible targets-

Rasmus elm- 8m
Adam maher- 8m
Matt Jarvis- 4m
Jackson Martinez- 4m
nathan Redmond- 5m

outs

kuyt- 3m
aquilani- 6m (shame)
doni- free
cole- 3m
flanogan- loan
suso- loan
coady- loan
alrelio- free
maxi- 3m
texiera- loan
Pacheco- 1m

I think a mass clear out will happen with all the deadwood axed. on the situation with Luis Suarez i think it's unlikely he will be sold but if an offer of 30^ he might then well go. if that did happen a replacement would be lined up. do u agree Ed?

Can I just say to people who keep attacking kenny over slating carragher.

That kenny is most likely doing this to repay carra for being a top servant for the club , over the past 10years or so.

If carra did play today it is most likely his swan song so to speak.

05 May 2012 11:04:52
there is too much pressure on us and kenny. personally i think that our season will be over today. in my opinion, chelsea will beat us because we have a weak midfield. also we only have suarez as our main striker. if dalglish starts spearing, henderson and carragher, then we will lose. i hope we win today so we can save our season, but with chelsea having drogba and torres, i can't see us winning. it hurts to say this but today could be kenny's last day as the liverpool manager. but i feel sorry for kenny because the players are the ones to blame for the poor form. also i hope that our rubbish players are sold before next season. what do u guys think?. {Ed022's Note - What do you define as a 'rubbish' player? It's pretty subjective.}

Wow if only all teams had supporters like you! Especially on FA Cup final day when Liverpool could end up with a second Trophy! How sad :( I will be watching with hope in my heart that we'll win. But I'll still be a fan even if we lose!!
BTW, what's happened to "It's A Knockout" between the fans on Cup final day?? Oh the memories!

05 May 2012 11:04:24
Time for a quick vent!
Why are so many people knocking this Liverpool team and KK. Yes success hasn't been instant, but really, really did you expect that? We are not Man City with 400 million to spend, we're not Chelski, we have to build a strong club using what resources we have. KK is trying to change the ethos of the club, from the ground up, Rome wasn't built in a day. Look at Barca, fantastic club with a culture running through it from 11 year olds to first team, with a playing style that runs through every level of the club. This is what KK is trying to do, change our playing style back to the pass and move of the 70s and 80s and it won't happen overnight, we have seen this working on lots of occasions this season but the plan isn't finished yet and it doesn't always work, but it will, with time. So please lay off with the criticism get behind the club and KK and judge him in 2 more years. If KK hasn't rebuilt rome by then fair enough but until then lets have a bit of hope in our hearts eh? Danny

With this team, success wont be instant, soon, in the next ten years or ever. We need a clearout in the summer, and I dont want to see another premier league player coming in unless he's in the starting 11/contention for the starting 11 in one of the top 6 clubs. So that means not getting any 'young stars' from the likes of wigan, sunderland, swansea, blackburn etc etc. We need real quality not a new bunch who will take a good 4 years of first team action to actually become good players!

Ted

Have to agree with you kidmillons ..i think he will play 3 at the back..johnson and enrique will need to work really hard up and down the flanks ..it will need carra to step up abit when we r defending so we can keep a good line when trying to catch them offside...but i think he will start with spearmint and play henderson on the right instead of kuyt....but i would start with kuyt as he is a big game player...dave d

Lets face reality. We have spent 113m to finish probs 8th in the premier league and scraped past a championship club to win a cup no-one in the top 6 are interested in. Rather win that than finish in top 5? No way, and the sooner Dalglish leaves and an up to date modern manager comes in the better. We are miles behind the top 6 and just look at Newcastle, good manager, great transfer deals, top class scouting and about 16 points above us!! Yes Kenny a footballing Legend on the field BUT well out your depth now off the field YNWA

I think kenny has done what was needed he steadyed the ship got everyone back on the same side .but i do agree with us still being a far way off the top 6 sides at least 3years in my opinion

What a positve outlook on the day of the F A cup final ! Get behind the team !!
REDBOY

Is this the same kenny that has amassed 28 trophies as player and manager?

chelsea have 22 in their whole history by the way.

and when you talk about figures how have we spent 113million?
we have outlayed 113million in the last 18months and have recouped roughly 75million. if we hadn't of sold torres for 50 million we would not have been able to spend the figure you suggest!!
and if we win today will you be back on here talking about a successful season winning 2 out of the 3 competitions we entered.

Kenny Dalglish has amassed 31 trophies as a player, and 13 as a manager ( including Charity Shields ).

But he should finish as our manager, not up to it - and as far as old school football fans are concerned, it's about winning trophies, not about coming 4th in the league - Winning is everything, second is nowhere - now who said that?

{Ed001's Note - you have no ambition if you are happy with 4th each season. How dumb do you think I am trying to suggest that my ambition for wanting to win trophies is lacking ambition? Idiotic comment.}

Ed you are right trophies matter and nothing can substitute them but as a business man yourself you must also understand how important is money.
Sentiments can get you so far but at the end of day money matters and its rude fact of life and since you always give considered views deep down you must be really dissapointed like me with this sham of league performance this season.
Biggest question is ed do you think certain players just gave up on league after carling cup thinking we will get away with it because of cups.
Because this attitude is really concerning me. I mean its not Ok to finish 40 point behind champions we are LFC.
I mean this is strangest season for me 1 cup+ 1 final till now and league has given me tears.
What you think ed?

Red indian
Ps-just win it red men today for the 96 that chelsea fans booed.. {Ed002's Note - Ed001 is travelling today as I understand matters so you are stuck with me answering this. The point is that it is not a case of one or the other. People want Liverpool to be back where they were chanllenging for the league, being in he Champions League and winning an occasional cup or two. Nobody is underestimating the financial benefits of the Champions League.}

Lol Ed001 as of now we have the League cup which was won by Birmingham and Mcleish If you think it provides any value you are obviously deluded {Ed022's Note - The League Cup is of significant value, as it provides revenue from the competition itself, Europe etc. Don't be an idiot, because I'm guessing if we hadn't of won it you'd still be whining about it like a child.}

Nothing breeds success like success, and while our league position isnt the greatest, we have 1 maybe 2 cups, and that is progress from where we were, each cup win will give our team the confidence to go forward from here

I don't think you really need Macca to answer that for you, do you? I'd say you already know the answer to your question, but are plagued by wishful thinking.

I would be very surprised if he was part of the squad. I know he has trained with the squad this week, but doubt he'd be in the match day squad given the importance of today.

Saying that I would happily be proved wrong, as he is one of 2 people we have in attack with genuine pace

05 May 2012 09:49:40
Just want to wish everyone good luck today, the team and the supporters, everyone who will watch live and feel every roll of the ball and every step of each player.
Also, i think Dalglishes comments regarding the league were clearly taken out of context. I believe he meant that it is all good and well if your a top four club but that there is more gain in aiming for cup glory if your more likely to finish below say 6th, because it gives the fans more to cheer about and silverware with essentially the same outcome as finishing 5th, which would be an anti-climax without much to cheer about.

Would this be a realistic summer?

ST: Olivier giroud,Fredy montero
RW:Muniain
CM: Rasmus Elm

Sell

Defenders:Wilson,Aurelio.
Mildlfieders:Maxi,Cole,AQUILANI,Adam,Spearing
Forwards:Bellamy,Kuyt

Would only want Munian out of that lot

Keep bellers

Muniain would come at a fairly massive cost.
Giroud is possible, i would be happy with the signing, as with Rasmus Elm.

Montero would obviously be easier to get a hold of, but it'd be a BIG step for him. A gamble that would most likely not pay off.

Out of interest. Where did this sudden talk of Rasmus Elm come from? He's been one of those players that showed A LOT of promise years ago, especially in the U21 euro tournament and the like, and i've liked him as a player since then, but it just seems a little odd that he's suddenly being noticed by the LFC fans, all while i've not heard of any real interest.

The way to beat Chelsea today:

Put 5 across midfield and retain the ball as much as possible. Sit fairly deep for 60 minutes and try to win all second balls and play into feet. Hopefully Saurez can nick one, if not put bellars on for last 30 and hit a very tired Chelsea on the break. Add maxi to a front 3 and dirk to chase for last 15 and voila.

Stevie to start just off Saurez.

The key will be stopping an aggressive drogba for first hour

I'd like to see us be bold and go for it with andy and Luis up top from the get go but i feel this game will be won in midfield. Id feel a lot better if Lucas was fit but good luck boys, we can do it.

Gazman

I entirely agree, the key to wining this game will be shackling Ramires and Mata. Not an easy task without Lucas.!! B

Totally agree chelsea will 3 in their plus mata will drift inside lfc could get over run so would leave andy out and play Steven off luis

O yer and hope mata ramires dont get in behind the midfield

Hi eds,

Great site, keep up the good work. Quick question for you, do you think that the Liverpool players regularly look at this site, and do you think any of them of them would have posted on here in the past? Mentioning no names of course...lol

Thanks {Ed002's Note - I don't know that any Liverpool players have but certainly a number of players have visited.}

Would be possible to state who ed I understand if you can't
{Ed002's Note - It would not be appropriate.}

Cant wait for the game today. I don't care what the team is, I trust Kenny to make the right decisions, he is the one with the most info on each player.
I will be in front of a massive TV watching in HD and hoping that Kenya Power dont decide to have a power cut just as we kick off. Tuskers are in the fridge chillin, BBQ ready to light. Cup final day, LOVE it !!
Come on you Reds

Sounds like a great day mate enjoy. I myself am going to get up at 3am in order to watch the match. Cup of tea in bed with the match on will do me!

Liverpool team to play Chelsea

..............................Reina..................................

Johnson............Carra.........Agger...............Enrique

....................Henderson....Spearing......................

Downing..................Gerrard.......................Bellamy

.............................Suarez.................................

Subs: Doni, Skrtel, Kellly, Shelvey, Maxi, Kuyt, Carroll

I personally would prefer Skrtel instead of Carragher but sentiment has got in the way of Kenny's team selection.

How could you not play Skrtl ??

cozinoz

No way in hell wud kenny start with carra over skrtel. His preferred cb pairing is agger n skrtel. What i do not like is carra being 3rd choice ahead of coates.
Indian Buzzer

Carra will play buddy. Agger to LB to accomodate his chum.

I think Carra is far to unpredictable now days, he has a fist full of shirt all game and lacks the pace so resorts to silly fouls, play our strongest pairing if they are fit Kenny, Carra has had his time in finals, let our other lads!
Anyhow, of to pick up the brother in law and then onto the game, see you there fellow fans, i pray one one last top performance this season.

Liverpool team to play Chelsea:
Reina
Johnson
Skrtel
Carra
Agger (left back)
Gerrard
Henderson
Spearing
Bellars
Downing
Suarez

Gazman

Drop Carra and add Enrique

I agree but I think Kenny may go with experience and the extra heading ability to combat drogba.

Midfield is key. Beware of us getting a goal to early - may sound stupid but teams tend to sit too much if they score early at we mobley - when the equaliser comes the momentum is lost. Keep it tight as hell for me.. Chelsea will tire

i thought Kenny didnt even let the players know who was starting until a couple of hours before kickoff how can people know the starting lineup already?

It just shows that people who claim to know the team but claim they can't reveal it are after all just full of hot air!!

Progress report - excellent League cup run and
fortuitous victory in final;Europa league football
secured which wouldnt have happened from
league position; disastrous league campaign; no
CL football; lowest league finish in 46 yrs that I
have supported club; transfer policy an
unmitigated disaster grossly overpaying for
players who had not delivered consistently at a
high level in the premiership bar Enrique &
Bellamy; midfielders bought and played out of
their best positions; lack of opportunities for
young stars - Tom Ince left, Coates & Robinson
underutilised and potentially Sterling could leave;
numerous media disasters; declining image due
to all of these on world stage; no commitment
yet for new stadium; excellent sponsors but for
how long? We are underperforming at many
levels despite huge investment and personnel
changes. An honest reappraisal is needed
urgently!

Its cup final day mate ffs give it a rest for a day an cheer us on to another cup doddys tooth

Dalglish's biggest problem is that we have the second best youth system in the world as of the past few years and there are loads of future legends that need 2-3 years to become the iconic players they will be come. Having this talent means he cannot buy a bunch of young stars because they will need to be sold in 2 years when our home grown make the leap up. He just needs to buy a couple players to bide the time until sterling, amoo, coady, suso, and morgan are ready.

How people overrate our youngsters.... would swear we had won all of our next gen games 10-0.

Ajax youth set up is the 2nd best, very close to that of barca's. We have the best in England by far though mate.

Ed001 and Ed003 I have been reading your comments regarding our generations "obsession" with top 4 and the decreasing importance of cups.

It isnt about obsession and money its about ambition, experience and attracting better players. If we fail to get into the champions league year in year out it will have a direct impact on the players we are able to afford and attract hence a direct impact on first-team affairs.

I think Kennys comments are a total disgrace and clearly he is just trying to cover his own back, the league is the bread and butter and he knows it...do you think when players retire and grow old they are gonna be sitting with their grandchild talking about their Carling Cup medals? I dont think so, but they will share their experiences of going to the nou camp or bernabeu in the champions league and travelling all around europe playing against the best players in the world...that is what football is about.

If I was a footballer I would not be happy with a carling cup and fa cup medal every few years at the expense of the many wonderful experiences that would be accrued playing in the champions league.

I do not care about the nonsense carling cup and im sure most fans and most players agree. It is a mickey mouse competition where most teams play their reserve players and where we barely beat a championship side in the final, lets get real. The cup is totally insignificant and I wish people would stop banging on about it, it means nothin.

Kennys comments regarding top 4 have only added weight to my view that he is living in the dark ages and cannot adapt to the modern era. Its all about the money and its all about the champions league these days...you cannot evolve or develop without either of them so Kennys comments are quite shocking.

He is so out of touch its unreal. Wenger, Ferguson, Mourinho, Redknapp, Mancini or any other top manager would never come out chattin bout an obsession for top 4...kenny is ridiculus and i have lost all respect for him regardless of tomorrows result.

The owners and Kenny are on 2 different pages...the owners are screaming about top 4 being a necessity and Kenny is bleating about how we shouldnt be so obsessed. The owners need to find someone more on their wavelength.

{Ed001's Note - you have no ambition if you are happy with 4th each season. How dumb do you think I am trying to suggest that my ambition for wanting to win trophies is lacking ambition? Idiotic comment.}

I noe the original poster is not 100% right, but isnt finishing in the top4 the first step towards challenging barca n real? How can u expect liverpool to be the best if they cannot even get into the top4? Winning Fa cups n leagur cups will only make us a good cup team, but more money means better players n competing with the best in the business. Id rather our club played barca or real rather than cardiff city or stoke. If we do not get top4, we can forget about winning the BPL as well.

Although our league campaign has been disapointing we have still won a trophy and cud win another tonight that to me is a gud season and we can build on that , im a red living in the toon and all ive heard is them going on about is getting cl next season and saying we r rubbish but i soon shut them up when i remind them of yet another trophyless season while r trophy cabinet keeps filling up , football is about winning trophies whatever ones they r u remember days out at wembley etc not finishing 3rd or 4th without a trophy fair enough if u get in the cl with a gud chance of winning it but b realistic arsenal 15 years in a row qualifiying for it but never won it and without a trophy for 7 years whats the point and if the toon do get in it what chance do they have of winning it and they have no trophy for nearly 50 years what chance have spurs got , no disrespect to any of those clubs but give me a trophy any day and next season hopefully we can build on that..... good luck to the mighty reds tonight YNWA

Ed001 who said I was happy with 4th every season? You have got this habit of putting words into peoples mouths, do you have learning difficulties or something? Do you have problems reading? I just read back my entire post about 6times and nowhere have I said I am happy with 4th...I am unhappy with not getting top 4 and any top manager would be, thats my point. It should be the minimum requirement at LFC.

The goal is not to just get top 4 every season the goal should be to try and win the league but the minimum requirement is top 4. You are so far up kennys backside you will make any excuse for him.

Im sure when Benitez was manager and failing to get top 4 you were the first to bleat on about how important it was to get top 4 but now kennys manager the bar has lowered and you are happy with a carling cup and 8th place? Before you start throwing abuse answer this one question honestly...if we lose today will you be happy with our season? Are you trying to say that a carling cup and 8th is better than no carling cup and 4th?

Wow you are living in la la land. Can you imagine barca or real madrid or man utd fans talking like some of our fans do? Its beyond embarassing. Top 4 is the MINIMUM REQUIREMENT every season. Carling cups do not cut the mustard. From a business persepctive, players persperctive, money perspective, from absolutely any perspective its all about reaching the holy grail of the champions league as the minimum for a top club every year.

For you to say a carling cup is more important is the most insane thing I have ever heard in my life. You need severe help mate, severe help mentally and emotionally. You are clearly a challenged individual. {Ed022's Note - He is so very challenged that you feel the need to come back on this site, and let the whole world know about your oh so magnificent self. Now I haven't seen all of the original comments, but what excuses you to be so damn right derogatory to a guy who sacrifices his time editing this site and trying to give an honest opinion. Would you prefer it if all of us here just agreed with every single poster? If that's the case then here goes: next year LFC will win the League, Europa League, FA cup, Carling cup and then the super-cup, as well as the charity shield. On top of that, we will sign Messi, Martinez, Muniain, Soldado, Podolski, Ronaldo, Oezil, Goetze, James Rodgriguez, Lucas Moura, Hulk and every other player who's had a good few games. We will also get rid of every one of our players apart from Suarez, Gerrard, Reina (Although we may sell him due to fans being moody), and I suppose we can keep Agger, but the rest will be sold as they're all dead wood - a waste of life. Are you happy now you menstruating arse?}

And also if we do not get top 4 then we will not have the resources to challenge for the league title so your comment regarding my lack of ambition is redundant.

Hi all

These fans who keep posting the starting 11 they want tomorrow come on guys we're playing Chelsea not Barnsley!
No way are we going to start a game with only 1cm & 6 wingers / strikers. our team gonna be set to defend and hit Chelsea on the break, no way in hell will we go all out at Chelsea, just look at the two games Cardiff & Everton we sat back then tired to canter attack them samething gonna happen tomorrow.

I'm not feeling very confident :"( I'm sh*tting it lol I just don't want that Lady Boy To Win The Cup!

Difficult to see how they are going to score goals when the post is only '1cm'!

Thats exactly what I fear, I really don't want 'Nando to score. Hope he messes up, the amount of boos he'll get will be immense.

How can you be so confident we can win tomorrow just based on our lineup? Have you also been told chelsea's team?

Also like to thank you for all your updates, remember to post the team lineup a couple of hours before the match. Thanks again

Why is everyone so sure charlie adam will leave. everyone has him going out on their wishlist. Personally I think he is good back up and has been harshly criticised. In my opinion daglish is playing him to deep. What do you think eds? {Ed001's Note - I think his main issue, though that is part of the problem, is more that he is overawed by playing at Liverpool.}

If after one season, he is still overawed about playing for liverpool, then he does not deserve to be called a professional.
Indian Buzzer

He needs more time to settle, it's not as though he was the only new face in the team, he was surrounded by team mates also trying to establish themselves.
Which is not a normal situation when you go to a new club. At least with Charlie he has shown glimpses of real ability. He will be 100% and more a better player next season.

would just like to ask eds and macca if the think we will sign any big value players in the summer and do they know if we our looking at bringing any more sponsors
on board to boast revenue.

P.S Thanks for all the hard work on this site and keep
up the good work its very much apreciated. {Ed001's Note - the club are always looking at buying big value and bringing in more sponsors. I guess you mean high priced though? In which case, it depends on how you view it. If the right player can be brought in, I think the owners have already proven a willingness to spend the money.}

04 May 2012 22:38:54
Right. Everyone is saying Kenny has made bad singings yet they want to remove him from the role of manager of the club and move him to director of football. Isn't the job of DoF to target players for the club to sign? He is a great manager but he has just not signed well! We have played very well in almost every game but just not got the results due to poor finishing [from everybody].
