Hi ed, i hope we don't go for contreao (spelling) his defending is worse than glen johnsons, much prefer robinson to him,

05 May 2011 23:48:22
Ed do u think we would have 100 mil to spend cause the way people are talking we do??? thanks {Ed001's Note - not unless we bring in a lot more money than expected through sales, I certainly wouldn't expect anything like that to be spent. Nor would I want us to spend that.}

Let me explain what is wrong with LFC. You lot all love a 'trier'. Players like Kuyt, Lucas, Spearing (even Carra) will never be good enough for a top team. LFC has had so many mediocre players in recent years you do not even know what a good player is anymore. If a guy runs all game he is a hero, even if he does nothing else. Re: Lucas you all just have a guilty conscience and now that he has improved to avg you all feel bad for slating him for the last how many years. Kelly is another example, a couple of decent (not great) games and lets sell Johnson and Kelly is the best RB in the world. . Its a joke. Other fans do not have rose coloured glasses and can be objective. Use it, don't use it.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Here, give your mouth a wipe to get rid of that brown stuff. Kuyt, Lucas, Spearing, Carra, Kelly & Johnson you just mentioned. Still good enough to stuff the Mancs, Citeh & Chelsea in the past few months. That's practically half a team
you just slated. Kenny must be a better manager than I could ever give him credit for. Working with all these crap players & turning in the results he's been gettin.

The Irish Rover

Just a quick reply to make you maybe rethink what you have said about our squad which is not good enough in your opinion.I am not saying they are brilliant but when Kaka a very brilliant player I am sure by your standards as well moved to Real Madrid and started to be coached differently he has become crap. So there you go a brilliant player who can't even pass a ball. And dear friend Torres who can't score he is also a brilliant player. The squad can easily change into brilliant when they are lead properly and managed properly.

I don't know how you can justify this with that tripe you have typed. Liverpool have the second best form in the league atm, who cares if the players try. Id rather they tried that they were lazy sh*tes. Plus whoever you support in the league are useless, none of the other teams are decent. Especially United, hard pushed to pick a player id want in my squad from that side.

MacIntosh

Can't believe you're saying that. While I agree that Spearing is still unproven, I can't believe you're saying that Kuyt, Lucas and Kelly are shit. Kuyt, although already 31 still wears the number 7 shirt for his national team, rated 2nd in the world rankings. Lucas is natural first choice under Mano Menezes and has played EVERY SINGLE GAME since the world cup. Oh if you didn't know, his nationality is Brazilian. If Kelly was shit I don't know how he was able to push England's first choice right back to the left and earn plaudits from Fabio Capello. A real pity he missed out on this part of the season through injury. Next season without a doubt he'll be LFC and maybe even England's first choice right back

Let me explain that your the joke mate! sign your post next time your going to have a bitch about us, the club or the players! lol Muppet. judging by that post you know f**k all about football or what it means to be a true red, your a disgrace mate now do us all a favor an do one! can't believe what i have just read! grrrrrr

*Pobs*

Is this you Mr Torres posting such drival?
Ozdave

I was probably going a bit over the top in my last post!, sorry man been a long day! but really mate how can u say that? Lucas has been immense this season, he will be a star, im sure of it! im really happy for the lad! he must have skin made of leather with all the hate hes taken over the years! very. very thick skinned kid and can see him being a legend in the future ("I wounder which player has made the most tackles in the EPL this season. . hmmmm. that CRAP player LUCAS i think! "). I could go on and on about the rest of the players and your silly rant about us not knowing what a good player is! (behave) but im cream crackerd an off to bed and i think you should do the same!. night all

*Pobs*

Agree Ed. But the fact that if Young or Payet arrived they would take Kuyt's place on the right and if M'Vila arrived he would take Lucas's place means that they are not good enough to win the league. Yes you need 1 or 2 players to do the dirty work, but we have far to many in that mould and not enough talent, ability or creativity.
- - - - - - - - - - - - -
How's that crystal ball working? Pretty well by the assumption you have just made that it is easy just to walk into a team & dislodge 2 players just like that. Players that play for their national team. It's a squad we need, every player should play their part when required.

Hey ed just seen Luis Suarez video of him leaving ajax on youtube, he went around the stadium kicking balls into the crowd and handing balls to one or two people in the crowd, they even had fireworks for him, he also slapped hands with all his former team mates and there was 1 kid balling crying in the crowd! . . its great to see that even tho he was leaving he had the class to go around thanking the fans and team mates! !

{Ed001's Note - a poacher, though preferably one who doesn't wander round watching the opposition defenders passing the ball to each other at the back with no attempt to close them down such as Benzema. I really can't think of an example of the top of my head other than Hernandez of United though.}

I know it's very unlikely but i think Rossi would be the ideal solution. He's a great finisher, not sure about him being a poacher though!

Your just to good to be true,
Can't take the ball off of you,
You've got a heavenly touch,
You pass like Souness to Rush,
And when we're p*ssed in the bars,
We thank the lord that your ours,
Your just to good to be true,
Can't take the ball off of you,

Oh Steven, Steven, Steven Gerrard,
Oh Steven, Steven, Steven Gerrard,

Oh Steven Gerrard
Because he hates Man U,
Oh Steven Gerrard,
He hates the blue s*ite too,
Oh Steven Gerrard,
You're a red through and through!

I'm begining to think that we won't buy another world class striker as with Jay Spearing and Lucas playing so well in Centre midfiled. It means Raul can play in his best postion when required (hole behind striker) but more importantly that role will be taken up by refreshed Stevie G, everyone forgets how effective the man is in this postion, he will be unplayable with Caroll in front of him, Kuyt to the right and Suarez to the left. .! start of next season untill the new boys (and there won't be more than 3!) earn their place in the starting 11 it will be this. .

Where's Kelly?

05 May 2011 22:30:50
A lot of people have been linking us to a bunch of forwards we don't really need. We have a big man in Carroll. We have someone with pace and skill in Suarez. And we have someone who is tough in Kuyt. If we were to get another striker I would think we need someone who knows how to be in the right place at the right time. Someone who plays like Higuain or Chicharito. It doesn't really make sense to link us with players like Gomez and Benzema when we have players of similar styles. Thoughts ed? {Ed001's Note - my thoughts exactly, the plan is to get a squad of players together with different abilities so we can vary our play.}

As much as i hate to say it we need a player Like Antonio valencia who can create width by hugging the touchline but also get his fair share of goals with all that he has great physical stature he is strong and fast
CLx

What kind of striker would you like to see then mate?

Stu {Ed001's Note - a poacher, though preferably one who doesn't wander round watching the opposition defenders passing the ball to each other at the back with no attempt to close them down such as Benzema. I really can't think of an example of the top of my head other than Hernandez of United though.}

Actually think Kuyt will put pressure on Carroll & Suarez if played centrally. He seems to have that knack of being in the right place. Didn't he score plenty goals in Holland just like Suarez?

Looking for a poacher. Van Nistelrooy?
Dont think we will get him but what do you think Ed? {Ed001's Note - no thank you, his knees are shot.}

05 May 2011 22:24:32
Poulsen to Accrington Stanley in exchange for £6.50 and a packet if peanuts. Very reliable sauce, comolli is very keen for this one to go through.

I hope that's £6.50 not including VAT otherwise were getting swindled, mind you if the peanuts are dry roasted. .

Give him 3 years mate, might become an avg player like Lucas.

Still can't believe people are still knocking Lucas. We signed this kid from Gremio and he'd just won player of the year as an attacking midfielder. In front of him were Gerrard, Alonso and Mascherano so he was always going to be in their shadow. Having said this, he never hid whilst playing even though some of our own fans gave him stick. He has improved so much over the last couple of years. Benitez, Hodgson and now The King have all played him and is also a regular for Brazil being hailed as the new Dunga. He can't be that bad.

05 May 2011 22:18:55
Just replying to earlier posts that were made regarding lucas and simply have to agree with the majority of supporters who have grown to love him. The great thing about lucas is that he keeps the game simple. Shankly always said keep it simple, play the easy ball. Lucas does this to great effect and also he is brilliant at breaking the game up and retrieving possession of the ball. Every team needs a ball winner lile lucas and is invalluable to every team. As for ferd, I respect the fact that you have your opinions but to say lucas doesn't pass the ball forward is criminal. I agree that lucas could be the next captain

Ian the red

Do you see leadership qualities in Lucas? A captain must motivate, drive the team on and lead by example. Do you see Meireles as having captain qualities?

05 May 2011 22:04:25
Hey ed, how do you rate Meireles's chances of remaining a first-team regular next season?
His form of late has been poor for a while now, in my opinion, and he's a weak tackler, but his goal threat and set-piece delivery remain. {Ed002's Note - You have to think of a squad more than simply a first team. I am sure he will remain a critical member of the set up.}

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

How has he been weak, in the center he was banging them in and splitting defences, he has sinse gone out wide and done a great job for the squad and team performance, Ie cross for Andy Carroll 2nd goal. He has been a fantastic player this season and Roy Hodgson deserves some praise for the signing.

Is a bit strange after he was playing so well centrally (after idiot Woy played him RM) that he has now been switched to LM and not kept centrally??

Get off his back though, he is 10x the player Lucas will ever be.

He says 'get off his back' while again insulting the much improved lucas who buy the way is still winning the LFC player of the year vote, both him and meireles are quality and im sure they will both remain a massive part of the squad set up

You must be on crack mate seriously, how can people still not see how good lucas is?

Hes really not

I'll explain it slowly so you can follow. Meireles is a great player whilst Lucas is an avg player. It irritates me that it has taken Lucas how many years to start playing half decent yet this joker criticises Meireles in his first season even though he has done much more than Lucas this year. And Lucas will only get this stupid award as all you morons now feel bad for slating him for so long as he has become a half decent player. Why do so many fans want us to buy more central midfield (DM in particular) players if all the fans rate Lucas so much?

Really. . . really Lucas not good he makes tackles looks for easy balls also balls of the hard ball when needed and makes great attacking oppourtunities with al this breaks up play as well as i have seen in a while him and reina being happy to stay at the club is the best thing to happen to this club at the moment . . .must add great signing by benitez

I don't remember them stopping us winning trophies, Ray Houghton is another one. You need players like that to be succesful.}

Lucas is still fairly young and i never slated him you keep thinking he is average but he is imo better option for lfc than the AVG in a shocking team Charlie adam

No one is saying Lucas is carp, just saying he is a decent player. All this player of the season nonsense amuses some people. Feeling guilty about slating him for years?

Sorry mate for supporting the players that give 100% to the cause, god i feel bad now

Agree Ed. But the fact that if Young or Payet arrived they would take Kuyt's place on the right and if M'Vila arrived he would take Lucas's place means that they are not good enough to win the league. We all support them 100% mate. But some of us don't over hype them like is currently happening with Lucas. Some can be realistic & objective. Simples.

You dony realise, that Lucas has come from south america straight to the premier league too play in a central position and be expected a lot of being a wonderkid as he was called would have had some pressure and to come and play for such a big club, i think he has dealt with the pressure well and played a big role this season, and will in the future

Hi ed, can we not have a seperate sticky for the lucas bashers, that way everyone else can avoid it, its getting a tad tedious now,

Hi everybody
just thinking was i right that Comolli was at the manure vs Schalke game last night ?
if so wonder who he was there to watch ?
Can't really think of anybody in either side worth watching ?!??!

Was supposedly that young Greek defender Papadopolopololodsusloposus. . or something like that. Wasn't impressed.

Thanks mate ! thought he might be there to watch Raul ! !

Was told it was jurado

Fowler is god

Wouldn't really be excited about anyone signing from schalke tho mate nothing impressed me throughout their champs league expedition

Geez, give Meireles a break. First season in new league and imo he has been very good. He will only get better.

05 May 2011 21:52:15
First time poster, we desperately need width. Even though I hate man u, they have had alot of success with wingers. I can not remember the last time we had a winger like they have. Any comments appreciated

Thank our previous managers for that. KK will fix.

05 May 2011 21:41:27
Which would be the bigger joke?
Torres getting a winner's medal or Owen?
Neither deserve one IMO, but I'd have to go Owen.

Dont really care, but if had to chose would be owen. He would at least have nothing to say along the lines of "This medal has justified my decision to leave Liverpool. ." like that caveman mascherano.

Who cares non of them are liverpool players

05 May 2011 21:37:44
Porto look different class tonight. Guarin is superb, falcao still on fire, and although I think Hulk hasn't been his best tonight I think it is clear to see he is a quality player. Not sure what to make of Rolando though, thoughts on his and others performances??

05 May 2011 21:38:02
Hi Ed is there a specific number how much we will spend on the players in the summer? Ive heard 50 millions, is it with offloading our players or without? and thx {Ed002's Note - No, it is all speculation.}

05 May 2011 21:33:29
There are many players mentioned their names lately on the newspapers as a remours , but the fact is that most of them are just names to hide the real goals for the Sir KK to sign his (unknown players)

Moreover, expect big names to come toward the Anfield in the summer with few young talents especially (defenders)

Is there really a half decent player out there that we have not been linked with yet?

05 May 2011 21:09:57
How many goals does Falcao want to score. .
Isaac

And Villareal are the 4th best team in La Liga. .

05 May 2011 20:56:25
Lucas Leiva for fans player of the year????

Definitely, and
Kelly for young player of the season.

Sent to Coventry

I have just decided to block out this wave of Lucas mania. He will make a few major stuff up's again and suddenly all will hate him again. Just saying (please lets not start a debate again).

Lets not start a debate ??

How can you say that after your post.
How any top class managers have to back the lad before idiots like you beleive, Do your self a favour and stop posting about Lucas, You don't know what your talking about.

UCCM

Well said mate, totally agree Lucas has been a class player and should be our next captain/vice captain.

I didn't do the first post mate. Have a go at that bloke. Some fans are fickle, when he has a couple of bad games again lets see what happens. .

Why not Skrtel as fans player of the season? Always plays and gives his best, never complains just goes about things?

Because Lucas has been our best player. . hence him having like 38%? of the vote for lfc player of the year

Its a sympathy vote because of all the flak he has deservedly got in the past.

05 May 2011 20:54:28
I WANT ARDA TURAN AT LFC . KK GET HIM PLEASE YNWA

This is Kenny speaking son. Sure, we will sign him just for you.

05 May 2011 20:50:16
2-2 United GIVEN a free kick (AGAIN)

Wisdom, Wilson, Suso, Ince and Shelvey worth moving up. Cole and Poulsen must be on their way. Great move for the second goal but Cole's shot was going 10 yds wide when it deflected off Saric. Have to agree poor free kick conceded when a penalty could just as easily have been given when Ince was taken out.

05 May 2011 20:41:38
2 -1 Liverpool Cole, Deflection off Utd Defender

The movement leading up to that goal was brilliant, finish was poor though.

It was a good game, Liverpool played well, and should have scored a few more goals, some very good performances from Wilson, Wisdom, Suso Jonjo, Ross

05 May 2011 20:42:34
Anyone know the score of the reserve match
I can't find it on the internet anywhere

05 May 2011 18:56:10
Ed, What do you think of the future Liverpool front four.

Hazard- Suarez- Sterling
Carroll

Hazard is not going to sign, and Sterling is only 16 so it will be a while before he is in the first team Ross

Y does it matter how old he is? surely if your talented enough (imo he is) u r old enough?

05 May 2011 20:23:10
So THE TURDZ u start explaining you had "cast-iron" info about an incident which took place on the wrong day(Saturday) when most us fans remember the game was Sunday(not the best of starts on your part) anyway so What Nolan grew up in Toxteth well done 4 using wikipedia mate u deserve a sticker. Dalglish is thought to have highlighted a number of players in a variety of positions with a view to potential transfers, with a centre back, left back, winger and attacking midfielder thought to be high on the Liverpool agenda.

With an aging back line and Sotirios Kyrgiakos reportedly heading for an Anfield exit, Yaroslav Rakitsky (Shakhtar Donetsk) has emerged as a key target for the club.

Any thougths, Eds?! i think he will be a very good player for Liverpool

Do you remember how s**t hot Kaka was 5 yrs ago when him and Stevie were the best of the best. Surely him and Stevie havn't lost it quite yet. I reckon Kenny could ignite a partnership to die for, if you got you those 2 together with Mata in a 4-1-3-2 like so. .

I don't think the £35 million angel of the north-west will sit on the bench mate ;-)

Also, I have heard we are looking at Mata and a bid in excess of £18 million would be accepted. I have some of the same sources as Ballague. There is no interest in Kaka as far as I know. I do no a deal for Benzema is being lined up. Ashley Young and Phil Jones are the other two players nailed on to sign.

Xavier Martoez

35m man on the bench. Keep dreaming. Besides Kaka is avg now.

Carroll O_o

I do hope we sign mata

Kaka`s wages would be astronomical as well, and you would drop Carroll to the bench for Kuyt. Crazy! Ross

Xavier, do you know if we will try for A. Johnson?

I agree theres no chance of Kaka but his wages wouldn't be the problem because he gives half to the Catholic Church anyways.

When I was on Holiday in Sau Paulo I saw a priest driving a DB9.

It makes no difference what he does with his wages he would still want crazy money

About Rafa ,
With regard to Alonso, many of us have forgotten that he only had one good season which was his last, the previous years he was just about above average. Also he would have moved to RM regardless of how Rafa made him feel (I know he loved LFC but RM always get their man), Its possible that Rafa was sounding out Barry a year in advance because he knew Alonso was going.

Rafa spending: He did not spend a lot of money, his net spend over the 5 years was just 15m, and net spend is an important factor, because under the owners he was working with he had to sell in order to buy.

Did Rafa buy many bad players? maybe but I do remember he wanted Bale, he was not given the money so he had to buy Dossena, he wanted Malouda, again was not given enough money so opted for Babel , he was after Adam Johnson/ Downing and many other players that have proved worthy at other clubs, he could n't get them because of money matters and he had to buy the cheaper riskier options.
Many of the player that Rafa was criticized for spending a lot of money on are promising youngsters , the likes of Ayala, pacheco, ngoo etc

Rafa resurrected the Youth academy , something that was completely forgotten about before, with the likes of Kelly, Robonson and few others the club is now benefiting from it

And finally , Rafa brought the King back home, and for that alone I will always be grateful, not many managers will have the courage to bring an old favourite back, but Rafa was a liverpool man and fully understood the value of Kenny Dalglish to the club.

Rafa was not the best manager in the world, but he was 1000 times better than the one who replaced him, luckily this is history and now we do have the best in the world managing our team. .all thanks to Rafa

Roy

A lot of good points well made

Can we leave the Rafa thing now gents? he was a decent (not great manager) and much better than Houllier who I hated and really bought tosh. KK is the future.

And he gave us that night in istanbul which is something i will never forget

Gerrard gave us that night. Rafa gave us a huge squad with much deadwood, defensive boring football, mind boggling constant team changes and questionable tactics. Thats how I will remember him.

And some one who never broke a smile when we scored ha ha
" Ooooh Kennnyyyyy. . . Oooooh Kennyyyy I'd walk a thousand miles for one of your smiles!"

Reported Liverpool target Juan Mata is appears likely to leave Valencia in the summer with interest in his signature seemingly growing by the day.

Having been forced to cash-in on David Villa and David Silva last summer, Los Che are reluctant to lose another of their star turns, but could be forced into a sale if the 23-year-old's release clause is met.

As previously reported by skysports.com, Liverpool are one of the clubs chasing the winger and now his father - who also acts as his agent - says interest in his son has reached 'fever pitch'.

"The race to sign my son has hit fever pitch and is still increasing, " said Juan Mata Snr, according to tribalfootball.com.

Ince looks good! ! and jonjo goal was a younger stevie G type .

Everytime I see Ince he looks good, but get shot down whenever I mention him. Surely if he has a bad attitude KK can change that (or at least try).

I have cast iron info on an incident that took place last saturday in town after the game with newcastle Andy carrol was out with kevin nolan, nolans family come from the park road area he went to st malcheys as a kid you can check this out if you don't believe me, im from the area and know them well.

Well that's funny but am sure the players are not to drink before a game & if am right we did play newcastle on the Sunday, bit mad Carrol & Nolan drinking before a game on Sunday

Look closely. .

i have cast iron info on an incident that took place last saturday in town AFTER the game with newcastle Andy carrol was out with kevin nolan, nolans family come from the park road area he went to st malcheys as a kid you can check this out if you don't believe me, im from the area and know them well.

See it? The key word here is AFTER. That's why you READ the posts before you ridicule them. Fool. That is all.

Liverpool played newcastle last sunday, not saturday. .at 12 noon. .knobby

Cringe! !

Key word is After???

2nd Key word is Saturday

We played Sunday but magically he had an incident of Saturday AFTER the game.

The game wasn't played on Saturday it was played on Sunday so your still talking nonsense.

Yes but if you read it, it says saturday and the point you made is hypocritical because you didn't read his statement properly, anyway i'm sure the lad meant sunday cut people some slack. ;)

Well the game was on sunday so would original poster like to sort out this confusion as pretty big detail. .seems unlikely an incident would occur and both nolan and carrol would play day after

Watching the first half of the liverpool reserves against Manure, I really do not think we need another central midfielder, Jonjo, who has scored a 30 yard screamer, is dominating the game. With Stevie, Meireles, Jonjo, Spearing, Lucas and the up and coming Conor Coady, it seems to be a waste of money investing in another midfielder. Suso too has been impressive, amazing vision. Kenny , Sammy and Comolli are there watching too.

Montpellier Red

Besides Suso (who is very lightweight for MF) we have no 'playmaker' as such in MF. Hence KK wants Adam.

Rumour has it liverpool have made a 35million bid for borussia dortmund trio
nuri sahin
mario gotze
hummels
to me this is 50/ 50
sahin has all but agreed a move to real
but gotze and hummells look real catches
lfc have also been discretly in contact with a 16 yr old striker from danish champions fc kobenhavn kenneth zahore and athletico bilbaos 18 yr old forward iker muniain
lfc will also look to sign another winger and creative midfielder and a lb young and adam have been the names most linked to which i agree with adam but young will go to man u so liverpool will look to balazs dzudzak of psv
as for a lb enrique is all but secure
expect a lucrative bid for blackburns phil jones

i am new to this but this reasearch is both accurate and logical expect more to follow
Boris

I'm not knocking you at all, just curious as to what this research entails?

We not interested in Hummels. Gotze is going to manu. Enrique might be off. We will bid for Jones. Muniain is possible.

Hi ED's and my fellow RED's:

From what i have been informed i expect:

5-6 players to arrive, & around 8 players to leave.

Liverpool will sell Daniel Agger.

No strikers arriving this summer.

LFC very very keen to bring an English Center Back & an English winger.

Liverpool will sign a LB which might be there marquee signing.

Sylvian Marvaeux will arrive, he was given green light on his injury last week.

Cahrlie Adam still favourite to that CM role followed by Sissoko & Yann M'Villa.

One more winger will arrive out of these three. [ Eden Hazrd, Dimitry Payet, Gervinho, Balsz Dzusckak, Yacine Brahimi , Andres Willian]

Has anyone everyone noticed that theturdz always speaks turdz. LOL

Maxi has said that he would like to stay at Liverpool even if he is told that he will not play as much next year. What do people think?

Personally i respect him for that, his knowlege of the game is second to none and e would be brilliant with the youngsters coming through. By all accounts the mans a pure gent and i would like to see him stay. Understandably accecpting that you would be taking a lesser role in the club would result in a pay cut but id say you could knock a few grand off his wages and have him as back up for a few seasons and he is well respected in Argentina and could be persusave in a couple of transfers Aguero (Kun) not the better one Ken lol came to visit last year and rumours were rife. Im not saying that he would be able to do much in relation to targets but he would be a friendly face if we went for example Banega.

Also Ed would you consider a bid for Odemwinge(sp?) as the missing striker everyone is asking for not that i think we need one. Cheap and cheerful and i think he has proved himself in a tough leauge at a tough team. Can you post on banter so i can see others views?

Any thoughts?

Maxi is happy getting the cash and playing less. . No sh#t. Cut his wages in half and see if he is happy.

That was very unnescarsay

Considering he will be in the final year of his contract next year after the above statement he wouldn't even dream of getting the wage he is on at the moment. I couldnt say for sure but he could be on the rejion of 90k a week. along with coles 90-100k and jovas reported 70k wtf were the board thinking.

We need Kaka. Nothing more to say. He seems to be a likely to be on the move if Balague is correct (not saying that he is). In terms of LFC pass and move. .is there anyone better / more accomplished? I mean ok he's been out of form but i reckon its more due to neglect rather than him "losing it". Going to presume some people will object, but along with some wingers would be ideal.

Why do we need him???? he would increase our wage bill by a considerable amount, costs a lot transfer wise (in comparison to younger players), and could be a complete flop as hasn't played regularly since last season. . if he was free then yes maybe pay his huge wages (£200000 week) but why spend money on a attacking midfielder when we desperately wingers and defenders???

StudentRed

Kaka has never been able to live up to the form he had for AC admittedly injuries aint helped him at Madrid but the wages he would demand and the transfer fee Madrid will want he just aint worh it. Face it kaka was a great player in Italy so were shevchenko, Crespo, Aquilani and Veron So on that note wouldn't even take a risk if he was free! ! Best place for him is back in Italy in a slow boring league wher he could once again look a world beater

Allot of Liverpool fan are taking the Eds prediction to seriously. We are a month away from the window opening yet so nothing will be certain, just guess work or predictions.

The Ed's know as much as most fans about the players coming in. .Nothing. .it's all guess work and hunches only Kenny and Commoli really know what the deal is

Guillem Balague; "With Morata also being promoted to the Real Madrid first team from the youth set up, buyers are being sought for Karim Benzema and Kaka." on his blog. So who knows we might go for Benzema or a younger striker such as Bojan on loan or Lukaku {Ed002's Note - If you are a believer in what Balague says you would have noticed yesterday's message was Liverpool are not after a striker.}
- - -
Guillem must be in a privileged situation to have constant updates from Kenny, as to who we are going to purchase this summer. I think it is like every body else, when it comes to transfer, pure guesswork. Ross
- - -
I posted the Balague rumour which is FACT from Revista; he said we aren't interested in a ST or GK as we have them. I'm a firm believer in Mr Balague as he seems to know all the agents and clubs "interact" with him to promote the price of players and start bidding wars. Personally I'd like a ST but his talk of LB, CB and Two wingers suits me; however I can't pick this conundrum of another CM. .

The Next ;)

The next iv'e got one point for you.

Mr GB said we are not after a ST, He gets his info from agents and clubs trying to raise profile and price.
how does he know we aint after a ST, Just because we havn't enquired about 1 YET, We may still in July, Suppose we bid for other positions first, Before finally identifying a ST at a later date, In which case Mr GB (or gobsh*te as i call him) will then change his tune.

UCCM

I am not doubting his credentials, I am sure he does have very good contacts in Spain, and probably knows what is going to happen with players, But I still doubt he knows what positions will be looked at, and what players will be pursued by Liverpool during the window.
I will be amazed if we do not purchase a striker due to our lack of depth up front, and Kenny has said that he wants 3 top quality strikers. Ross

He understands Futbol O_O and see's that our main priorities are those positions; not defending like he is god and knows everything just saying what he said; I believe he knows however if we sign those players maybe we will sign a ST; nobody knows however he has a relitively good group of contacts so I take his word more than say; yours.

The Next ;)

Ross mate you think hes wrong in saying we want a cb, lb, 2wingers and a cm? that is something all of us have said on here so check yourself. maybe he thinks a striker isn't more important than a cb, lb, wingersand a cm or maybe we won't bid or a striker, becuase A. we already have B. we want one only on loan or C to his knowledge we're not insterested in one. but i think theres maybe more to it.

Now i always loved Rafa, even with all his faults. There was just something about the way he was a 24/ 7 football man, never sitting down during a game & always giving out instructions during 90 minutes. Plus, he really did love the club, it wasnt just another job. I always maintained that we shouldnt have got rid of him until at least we got a better manager. Hodgson clearly wasnt that man as is now blatantly obvious, but Kenny is! So in a way im glad that Rafa got the bullet because of the chain of events that occurred after his sacking. You see, when you grow up watching a genius play football for Liverpool & then manage us for the first time & the trophies he won, you can have nothing but admiration & respect for the man they call the King. So maybe the Heirachy can stick their knighthood where the sun doesn't shine.Its not enough & he doesn't need it. We know what he means to us & our club & that's more important.

Listen mate I agree with you but surely you must realise by now that there are 2 things you must NEVER do on this site unless you want to be absolutely slaughtered
1- don't make any derogatory comment about Lucas

2- (and this is the mistake you made) under no circumstances must you criticise Rafa

Chris in Tamworth
- - - - - - - - - -
Well maybe Chris on this site the general feeling is they they like what Lucas is doing or that maybe Rafa didn't do so bad. Or maybe you think that posts shouldn't be challenged!??

The Irish Rover

Why can we not criticise rafa he is not the greatest manager to manage livepool he messed up a lot and spent alot of money 60% poor 40% good in my eyes yes we had good times under him but we had bad times aswell so please don't say he can't be criticised like he is the king of te liverpool

I agree 100% that posts should be challenged of course you are spot on to point that out. So you would agree then that posts that praise Lucas and Rafa can be challenged too? Or is it only the posts you disagree with that can be challenged?

Chris in Tamworth

Well, everybody messes up and every manager has good and bad times. We can even say that about King Kenny

Especially IF Kenny signs Joey (Prison No. 712317) Barton.

Blair Mayne YNWA

Yes every body messes up ofcouse and every post can be challenged i think that lucus is having a great season and coming along very well but i still think rafa was not best of managers and that is just my opinon like i said we had good times and bad but his over all time and way he has left the squad not that great.

Lucas has come a long way. From Brasil to England at such a young age. Moving to LFC, massive club, huge expectations and pressure; new country, new language, new weather, new everything. Played out of position.
Maligned by the media, booed and jeered by his own club's fans; being made a scapegoat.

All this at 20/ 21 years of age.
Yet young Lucas never complained, never threw his toys outta the pram.
He never looked to run away or quit.
He instead went about vindicating Rafa'r trust in him and proving himself.
Try to win over his detratctors.
He knuckled down and got beavering.

Even after all the grief and abuse he's got from some so-called supporters, the lad still loves this club and would run through brickwalls for it.
I've always felt that he's always shown a maturity far beyond his age.
He's a model professional.
And I do see (and want) him captaining his country Brasil and the greatest football club in the world, Liverpool FC.

The kid's a born leader and made of sterner stuff. Rafa Benitez, Dunga, Mano Menezes and Kenny Dalglish can attest to that. Nothing could've prepared better for leadership than what he's experienced the past 4 years.

I read a post here I think last week when some bloody-minded poster made an idiotic comment that "Spearing has made more progress in four weeks than Lucas has in four years".
How the bloody hell was young Lucas supposed to progress quickly if he was being played out position/ converted, huh?
As much as I thank and respect Rafa for sticking with Lucas, I also blame him to an extent for the kid's slow progress.

But I digress. The kid is top drawer and it would make me proud to see him taking over from SG and leading this side at the height of its greatness. It's no less than the kid deserves, it's no less than we, who've stuck by him, Rafa, Dunga, Mano, and his family, deserve.
Proud of you, lad.

Top Notch mate.

Agree totally and have told my mates just stick with him; Hodgson, Rafa and Kenny are good managers and he must try his socks off in training.

The Next ;)

I have said it before, if Lucas was so good, why the hell are we always having this convo? I agree he is improving, and of course he is playing in a position where it is hard to shine, and I know he is thought highly of at Melwood, but he still loses possession too much to returning forwards for my liking, and it's not like it hasn't been going on for years. The best players learn from their mistakes. .if he works to remove this from his game, and starts passing the ball forwards into space now and then, I may come to love him as well.

ferd

Wow ferd i ask that you WATCH the game because you obviously arnt, We are having this convo because ppl like you keep talking utter sh*te.
And lucas does pass it forwards, But here's the dirty lil secret, NOT ALL THE TIME, because that would make him predictable, also its his job to win the ball and find SG or RM who are usually next to or behind him so he lays it off to them to make things happen.

Im going on record as saying

' Anyone who dosn't beleive Lucas is a good if not great player is going against the majority of LFC fans, Rafa, Roy, Dunga KK, And the guy who made him captain at his club in Brasil. You are there for a minority and clueless about football, Or idiot withever you want to be called.

UCCM

Fantastic post, i would be thrilled to see him as liverpool captain.

At the start of the season I said this would be the season that Lucas would prove himself and I am so pleased that he had proved me right. He should be the second name on the team sheet after Reina.

I'd take 11 players with Lucas's commitment and dedication to the club and his team mates all day long over 11 so called stars who only play for themselves. Lucas for me is what a liverpool player is all about.

We were playing the best team in Europe at the time in an away tie with a lot at stake and Alonso didn't want to travel because his kid had been born. I think Benitez was within his rights to be miffed. Anybody remember Titi Camara playing and scoring the night his Dad died? True commitment to the cause, something Alonso didn't appear to fully believe in until he got put in the shop window. Funny that.
- - - - - - - - - - -
Then Camara & Rafa for that matter got it wrong & Alonso got it right! And it's got nothing to do with commitment, just about doing the right thing.

"Someone said to me 'To you football is a matter of life or death!' and I said 'Listen, it's more important than that'." Bill Shankly {Ed001's Note - and Bill Shankly himself would have been the first to tell you that it was said very tongue in cheek and that family is the most important thing.}

'Of course I didn't take my wife to see Rochdale as an anniversary present. It was her birthday amd would I have got married during the football season? Anyway, it was Rochdale reserves.' - Bill Shankly {Ed001's Note - you know Nessie loved footie as much as him don't you?}

Sickness would not have kept me away from this one. If I'd been dead, I would have had them bring the casket to the ground, prop it up in the stands, and cut a hole in the lid.' - Bill Shankly

Alonso had reportedly been given the option to stay for the birth or travel with the squad he chose to travel with the squad and at the last minute changed his mind and that's why rafa was miffed.

As bill shankley football is more inportant CASTER TROY

Yeah I know all that, and to be honest I'm not to arsed about whatever Alonso did, I just like to feel involved.

Simply put, ALONSO was wrong. HOW??Imagine going to an important meeting with your boss and chickening out at the morning because your wife gave birth to a kid, I am sure YOU WILL BE FIRED. .
Do remember in the end, footballers are all professionals who are paid and should respect their bosses. It is our love for our clubs which makes them GOD and they betray that always. MOST RECENT - - JANUARY.

Do u ever think Carragher would walk out on such an occasion?? ALONSO was just wrong and at RM he realized what he lost, so he makes us happy and makes us want him to come back. .

Go and have a look at Xabi's wife mate. If i had a wife like that, i would have told Rafa to F off too. She makes Cheryl Cole look like Dirt Kuyt.

Blair Mayne YNWA

That is hilarious Blair & so true.

I feel like the people posting about choosing your job over your spouse obviously never had to go home to a woman scorned. Everyday Xabi would have to put up with the constant reminder that his job is more important than his family. That leads to divorce & a fractured family.

Not knowing Carragher, I would imagine he would choose his wife/family over the club & if he didn't I would wonder what type of man he is.

Please stop using Shanky quotes to justify Rafa being one of the worst man managers of all time.

Would love for a return of Alonso as I believe losing him was a huge mistake!

We didn't lose Alonso, he wanted to leave when he knew Real Madrid wanted him, and you couln't blame him after the way Rafa treated him in his pursuit of Barry. ps thank god that didn't work out :-)

Rafa only ever wanted what was best for Liverpool, We couldn't convince either Arsenal or Juve to part with a figure ranging between 12 and 14 million the season before Alonso had the season of his life because he'd been pants for the 2 seasons previous and if my memory serves me right, prior to Alonso leaving we were a 2 man team and he wasn't of the 2 men EVER mentioned. Very short, selective memories some Liverpool fans have.

We have moved on from alonso we play a different game now

We have moved on from alonso we play a different game now

I think you need to keep your opinions to yourself to be perfectly honest.

Funny that.

Listen mate I agree with you but surely you must realise by now that there are 2 things you must NEVER do on this site unless you want to be absolutely slaughtered

Its utter bollox. A fee has been agreed for the player with 3 clubs, including LFC, but personal terms have definately not been agreed. Not even sure that Ashley knows which of the three to join yet but there is a strong feeling from people close to him that he's kean on the manu. The other club is Spurs, before you ask. John W Henry & co have been absoloutley brilliant so far! Everything they have done they have done with the best interests of the club and it's fans. Look at Hodgson, we made our opinions clear to FSG that we didn't want Woy as our manager, pretty much as soon as they arrived, but they didn't react stupidly by sacking him straight away then panic as to who should replace him. They realised the situation, assessed Roy while looking for potential replacements, and that is when they again listened to the fans and realised there was only one man to come in. King Kenny. So for the ones that are worried about Comoli, then don't be. If the case ends up being that he is in full control and we're not happy, then we make ourselves heard and they will listen. Which is what I like about them more than anything else.

Stone YNWA.

It weren't obvious to them. They have very little if no experience/knowledge in football/'soccer'.

Next time you wanna make a snide comment, leave your name.

Stone YNWA.

Of course it was obvious, we were 17th playing rubbish football and losing to Wolves at home.

But how were the owners to know it was the manager that was the problem. Durh?

Stone YNWA.

Because they are the owners, if they were not aware of how inept our manager was we really would have been in trouble, plus all the players would of highlighted the problem within the club, or of course they could have just asked king kenny

Obviously it became aware to them. But he's making out that the owners came in and straight away knew Woy had to go.

Stone YNWA.

The point i am trying to make is that it was not us that got roy the sack, it was not us that convinced them to appoint kenny and it will not be us that gets commoli the sack if it does not work out. everyone is talking about going back to the liverpool way of running the club, well that should also apply to us the supporters in not becoming like the idiots at other clubs who boo their own players. i absolutely agree with you the owners are doing a great job, but please do not think that we dictate the way the club is run.

Dalglish vs comolli
i don't know a lot about comolli, only he caused problems at st etienne, and spurs, how did he end up at liverpool? at the end of the day he is a scout a talent spotter nothing more how can a scout have more input on selling and buying players at a club than the manager? its a joke situation, john henry has spoke of the liverpool way, i hope this is not his first blip, no manager would have the decision of selling his players and buying new players decided by a scout, this seems to be the problem and if kenny feels he has to walk away from liverpool fc i don't blame him, bobpaisleys skids

Comolli is friends with Billy Bean who is Theo Epstein's mentor who is the GM of the Boston Red Sox which FSG own. So he was recommended by someone that FSG trusts & holds the utmost respect for.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to understand the power that the fans have (look what happened to Roy & the previous owners). FSG will not do anything to become "hate" figures at Anfield.

Wrong comolli and kenny will deside on who to go for but at the end o the day its Tom-W who has the final say depending on the criteria set by the club for the kind of player we want to be going for; young, fairly low annual salary, furure potential and profitable.

Ed I think you should trade your transfer news now.
Folk can subscribe or make once of payment for info. They want news, you have them after having worked hard to get, they should pay up. No more freebies.

Also when does the Copa America start? I want to watch but they won't broadcast here.
Can you suggest some internet streams or sites I can watch?
I don't want to pay though. Only those that are charges free.
I really want to watch it. Will be good tournament.

{Ed002's Note - HOW TO WATCH FOOTBALL ON THE INTERNET (WITH THANKS TO RED LENIN)
1. Install the browser Google Chrome.

2. Look in the top right (your right) corner and you will see a spanner.

3. Click on the spanner and select 'tools'.

4. Click on extensions

5. At the bottom right (as you look at it) you will see 'Get More Extensions >>'. Select this.

6. In the search box type 'Chrome Live Football' and search.

7. Click on Chrome Live Football and then click on install. (it may download to a holding file in the bottom left as you look at it, in which case as soon as it's finished click there, but mostly it will install itself)

8. A small football will then appear in the top right (as you look at it). Click on that, select 'live stream' and reset the clock to GMT and it will list all the live games available all over europe and other places.

You may occasionally need to install other programmes or the link you pick will only work on Explorer (in which case cut and paste the URL into Explorer), but you will always get every EPL match (or any other). Sometimes you will only be able to find it with foreign commentary and sometimes you will get it in English. You'll get about thirty links and you may have to look through a lot of them to get what you want. You will also get most La Liga matches, Greek matches, Italian matches and French matches as well as top matches from South America.

Someone also asked about viruses etc. Google Chrome is actually far more secure than Internet Explorer so the risks are considerably less, but you should have decent virus/spyware programmes and run sweeps regularly as a matter of course.

The quality will also depend on the speed of your internet connection. If you have super-speed and have a modern HD TV, consider connecting your PC to the TV via the PC socket on the side/ back.

Cut and paste the above into a document and save it for future reference.
}

I find the best way to watch them online is via sopcast and going through myp2p aslong as you got some kind of protection like norton ect and just look down the side for sopcast its a really good connection there myt be the odd blimp but i think that my connection

Well Ed could you answer please ? Cheers mate. {Ed001's Note - I don't keep track of what Macca says, sorry, it was put up in case someone else does and would reply to you.}

There is a chance that we'll sign Adam Johnson as he's very unsettled at Man City and doesn't like Mancini's managemant style and the positions he's played in. A little birdy tells me that Barcelona have scouted him recently. Not sure if he'd welcome a move abroad but I think he'll be on the move in the summer, unless Mancini moves on of course.

Marveaux (free)
Young(16.5 mil)
Enrique (9 mil)

All these 3 are done deals, and Sir Kenny is looking for a CB and 1 more winger and a CF

No thanks, young and enrique over-rated and not good enuf!

None of these are done deals. Enrique has been looked at and Mike Ashley is willing to sell to us but Kenny is unsure about his defending qualities. He was very poor against LFC on Sunday. This won't have gone unnoticed by Kenny. See my comments on Young above, there are 3 bids on the table. The editors know more about Marveaux than me but sounds like he'll be offered a contract.

Can't see him handing in a transfer request before the end of the season. It's true that he's unsettled and wants to leave if Mancini stays but think people are stirring things up to create a story. Would love to see him sign for LFC and wouldn't be a huge fee, maybe 15mil with fairly reasonable personal terms.

If Liverpool are A Young's second or third option then we don't want him. Buy only players who want to play for the best team in Europe otherwise they will not be committed and take our cash.

I don't know if this has been mentioned before so sorry if it has but I was watching revista last night and Balague mentioned a couple of things about Liverpool. Firstly

Reina is staying, as he's happy with the owners proposed plans which excellent news

He also said we had agreed a deal for Enrique and were looking at a CB Midfielder and 2 wingers but no striker. So the story about Benezema seems untrue. Is this your understanding as well or do you more?

kelly - sakho - agger - baines

sissoko - lucas - gerrard

suarez - carroll - johnson

wouldn't break the bank with player sale, would have a top 4 team at least, immense depth and youth squad could easily break into the team.

1st - Why is Sakho playing right sided DC, He's left sided left footed.

2nd - No backup GK on the bench WTF.

3rd- Sakho 15mil, Baines 12mill, Sissoko 15mill, Johnson 18mill. 60mill hows that gonna be covered by outgoing players, Not gonna happen.

4th - This is just made up with NO solid foundation = UNTRUE.

We have been priced out of a move for Sakho, unfortunatley. Cammoli had a meeting with his agent back in April and was told the player would be keen on a move. However his club have come up with a figure of £17million which LFC see as too much for a relatively inexperienced player and too much of a gamble. Arsenal have also balked at the price, (surprise, surprise. .!)

But seeing as though Cissokho is a Liverpool fan, if he knew that we were in for him, would he not put in a transfer request to push the move? That would knock the price down abit.

I was just looking at the LFC website, and it states:

"In-demand Lorient playmaker Morgan Amalfitano insists he will not think about a potential Premier League move until the end of the season."

But then i thought I would look at some states on Wiki, and Wiki states:

"Morgan Amalfitano (born 20 March 1985 in Nice) is a French professional footballer who plays for Liverpool F.C., as a midfielder. He has long-term contract for 5 years at the club."

Now I know that anyone can edit Wiki - But I thought that this was interesting. . . .

Hi Ed, great site which I read everyday. As regards the Phil Jones rumours. I'm friendly with his Grandfather who lives in Lytham St Annes. He tells me that it's a straight choice between Liverpool and Man Utd. The lad is a northern lad and doesn't really want to leave Blackburn but realises he has to to enhance his career but has no interest in moving down south. Wether we get him remains to be seen but he confirmed that both clubs are keen to sign him. I welcome thoughts and questions.
S

I think that Phil Jones is definitely one we should go for. To stop Man U getting him is a good enough reason but my main thoughts on him are that he is just 18 or 19 years of age and the nearest I have seen to Emlyn Hughes. Emlyn was just 19 when we signed him and was fantastic at centre back and also midfield. Jones looks to be strong and composed at the back and he makes surging runs through midfield when playing there, as Emlyn did in his prime. Only time will tell if he ever turns out to be as good as Emlyn but I think he's worth going the extra few million for if that's what it takes to get him. Players who can cover 2 or 3 positions will be valuable WHEN we get back into Champions League games.

For the person who was asking about Osvaldo

He's a striker, just under 6 foot tall. He normally plays on the shoulder of the last defender in the same way Hernandez does for Utd. He is also strong, quick and got a good finish. All in all, I'd say he's a poor man Fernando Torres.

He is just the type of striker we need as although Carroll and Suarez offer us very much, neither are particulary quick.

The way Torres has played in the last 18 months I would say HE is a poor mans Osvaldo !

Just read on Guillem Balague's twitter that Real have signed Sahin and that the board are actively trying to find buyers for Karim Benzena & Kaka. I personally would love Benzema. To win any league or CL we need options up front as we became so predictable with Torres. 2 wide players and a range of strikers our attacking force would be unstoppable. {Ed002's Note - Note that Guillem Balague also said that Liverpool are not after a striker.}

Gervinho has rejected a new contract offer from Lille. It's looking increasingly likely that he'll be moving on after a hugely impressive season and that Lille will want to cash in and not lose for nothing when his contract expires next Summer.

We've been known to have an interest (not sure if this has waned somewhat, though) - but, we'd face stiff competition from the likes of Arsenal and Bayern Munich and I'd imagine more teams will throw their hat into the ring.

I'd personally love to see him lining up for us next season - looks a real talent.

Parma Violet {Ed002's Note - Newcastle, Liverpool, Fulham (if they make Europa), Spurs and perhaps Arsenal are to my knowledge interested or have recently been interested in the player. I understand that Guillem Balague has said that Liverpool are not interested in a striker, which I find surprising. I guess we need to wait and see.}

Gervinho can also play on the wings, can't he? - I think he'd fit into our current system perfectly and be adaptable enough to cover any injuries we have up front. Also, they expect he'll probably only cost about 10M - which is a snip for a player that's quick, strong, only 23, an experienced international and scored 20+ goals this season (albeit in France).

Still, I'm not entirely convinced that he's a player that we're seriously chasing - I'm probably just dreaming.

{Ed001's Note - I am really not convinced by Enrique, he is even more lightweight in my opinion and doesn't have that blistering pace Angel has.}

He had the choice at 16 to be a sprinter or sign a deal with Levante, so he must be quick ed? I'm not sure about him either but I wasn't about Suarez and Ive already lost all my doubts. Just think of it this way, he's already playing in the prem, so its not going to take him a season or two to adjust to style of play, lifestyle etc.

There is a deal in place for Charlie Adam, £9mil regardless of Blackpools league status.

Why on earh would we agree a £9m deal for him when tottenham had a £8m bid accepted at the last min in jan, so we have bid £1m more for a player who is 6 months further into his contract and has been out of form since the turn of the tansfer window (which in my book would drop the players price tag not increase it!)

Anybody agree?

So you don't think Henny is best placed to make that decision then

Can't see lpool leaving them self's open to agreeing a fee of 9m, think that would be like a panic offer.Charlie Adam want's to come to us but think lpool would have a couple of tricks up there sleave to make a offer if blackpool went down or slightly higher if they stayed up!What do think ed?

{Ed002's Note - I am not a fan of Adam and think that Liverpool could do a great deal better.}

Thanks ed002, being told off my contact that lpool might be holding off on Adam because they now have 2/3 other players they might prefer!plus the lpool board where pi**ed off with blackpool after the Jan window!Think he is an ideal squad player for lpool!

Adam has shown his class in the last few months, he is not good enough to play regularly at LFC, and I struggle to see what he will bring, He might pick out the odd good pass, but he will not do that on a consistent basis, and will not really improve the team, and he certainly is not in the same mould as Alonso. Morning Eds

I believe Macca was correct in why DC was at the game .We have ben tracking the young greek lad (18 or 19 yr old) Papadopolous for some time, He usually plays at CB but has been used in a DFM role lately . A price of around 6 to 7 mill was rumoured in Jan. He could be the surprise move in the summer instead of Cayhill?

I know a lot of people have been sending lists in for you ed's to score 1 to 10. if I have a go the list will have around 100 players on and its not worth wasting your time . We will all have to wait and see.I do think this however we need to get the targets signed as soon as possible , NO last minute deals as the squad needs to be settled ready for the new campaign.We have carried out to much business late on in the past and players have been short of match fitness and also have not had chance to gel with their new team mates.

that is players who have been monitored so far that I have heard of somewhat.
Now to my guesswork to whom I think we'll get
Adam 8m
mata 22m
young 18m
monreal 6m
papdopoulous 8m
so abt 62m spent

and players sold
el zhar
degen
ngog
Cole
jovanovic
maxi
Greek
abt 15m
is this realistic what u guys think??eds are my targets information correct? And what do ya think of this being the team realistically for next term??

{Ed002's Note - The targets are all possible.}

Liverpool ins
Marveaux ( Free )
Bojan ( 12 million )
Payet (10 million )
Baines ( 10 million + Maxi)
Enrique ( 7 Million)
Benzema ( 22 million )

Liverpool outs
Koncheskey ( 3 million )
Jovanavic ( 6 million )
Aqualaini ( 15 million )
Poulsen ( Loan)
Insua ( 5 million )
EL Zhar ( 1 Million )
N'gog ( 4 million )
Kyriagkos ( lost faith in Europa 3 millon)

Your prices for both players coming in and going out are seriously unrealistic.

First of all i am a scouser exiled in mcr, my fiancee posted last nite messi my apse-read into it what u will, hope u c funny side, however a.johnson, gervinho, sakho and lakuku will sign, kk believes best form of defence is to attack, also aquaman will be brought back as if perfomances have shown he is worth that cash, bluffing juve-wot they want got rushie on cheap, we owe them nothing, its well known all 4 player wud join us, also i would like m.richards, turan and manuian

I have lived in Liverpool and been to Manchester many times. I do know that people in both cities speak heavily-accented English. I know that several of the editors disagree with me but it would be more interesting to read any posts in correctly written English - some of them as they are are very difficult to read.

35 million for Carrol. Wow! Why would we spend 35 million on an overrated Carrol? That money could've bought Eden Hazard or Alexis Sanchez.
Carrol is useless on the pitch without a world class winger who can send crosses in. Therefore, as we have already spent the money on him we need to spend big on a winger like Hazard.
We also need a new midfielder who has more vision than the midfielders we have now. Someone like Adam. He will only cost around 6 million in the summer. If Aqua comes back it'd be great. He has great vision.
WE also need a commanding centre back, someone like Hyypia. We should never have sold him, he was a great player. Nobody could beat him in the air. Well now he is retiring, so someone like Sakho would fit the bill. Hes an excellent footballer and will prove to be a great signing in the future.
Our Line-up for the 2011-2012 season should be:

- - - - - - - - - - - Reina- - - - - - - - - - - - -
Kelly- - - - - Agger- - - Sakho- - - Johnson

- - - - - Meireles- - -Gerrard- - -Adam

- - -Hazard- - - - Carrol- - - - Suarez

You ask why we would spend this on Carrol, Well the answer is simple we Sold a certain number 9 and did not have a replacement so we went out and purchased a very young lad who has the ability to be a top class striker. Yes we don't have wingers at the moment but there is more to his game than pumping long balls up front to him. You should be getting behind him. The same is said for Lucas I wish certain individuals would stop slagging him off.

Carrol is 22, English & purchased in January (yes 35 is a bit much, but his upside is tremendous). Do you recall how much Rooney (26 million age 18 in 2004) cost the mancs? I don't think you considered him "world class" then did you?

Sanchez was "technically" not for sale in the January transfer window. Udinese wanted to sell him & then wanted him back on loan for 18 months. How upset would you be if LFC spent 30 million on a player that wouldn't join until 2012/2013 season (plenty pissed I would imagine).

Hazard is not a "world class" winger. He is an attacking midfielder.

Your midfield would get over run in every match played in the premier league (none of those three have a defensive quality amongst them).

Although I like the idea of Sakho, I still think we have enough on the books to spend the money elsewhere (Kelly, Skrtel, Agger, Carragher, Ayala).

With KK and DC not seeing eye to eye over who gets the final say regarding transfers, is it not possible that DC was at the manc match to speek with Guardiola??? there is no guarentee that he will still be at Barca next season. . could we see a new manager at LFC next season??? . . your thoughts Eds? {Ed001's Note - DC has no say over that, players only is his remit.}

Thanks Ed001

Shut up already regarding KK and DC. Its a tabloid ready story and KK knows that he already has a say in who comes. DC wouldn't last if he crossed KK. Facts are this: closed doors is the word which is not good for this site. I work in Chicago and heard today that a FSG advertising agency are preparing a south american campaign. Not sure if it related to Saurez or something new but something is going down.

I think this is very unlikely. KK will get the job.

Comolli was obviously at Old Trafford for business reasons and it wasn't to do with Schalke or Man Utd. . My agent mate send me an e-mail, he said he recognised a couple of the agents Comolli was sitting close to, one was Zoran Vekic, agent of Bojan. The other was Reza Fazeli, who represents Nuri Sahin! Could be just coincidence but strange they were all sitting close together!

Rocky {Ed005's Note - Sahin is actually close to completing a 10m Euros move to Real Madrid.}

Yea I knew about the Real Madrid deal for him but it was just strange that they were all sitting together and Comolli sitting in the middle. Comolli wouldn't be going to Old Trafford just to watch a Champions League match he could've watched at home, lets be honest

The game was played at old trafford? {Ed002's Note - Right - where do you think it was played.}

05 May 2011 01:52:54
"{Ed002's Note - I think Sakho, M'Vila, Sissoko, Payet and a young mobile striker such as Edinson Cavani. .}"
So that is a whole new midfield if you include Marveaux. They all have realistic chances of starting.

Marveax M'Vila Sissoko Payet

Cavani would be best, strong and tall like carroll yet mobile, fast and agile like suarez

Been watching footage of Lukaku on youtube. I realize I can't asses a players over all ability through youtube alone. But I use it to see which foot a player prefers to use ( although players should be both footed). I try to see if I can figure out which boot he scores with the most, penalties, freekicks etc. If I'm not mistaken Lukaku seems to be more left footed than he is right footed. Also seems comfortable in possesion (dribbling & one on ones). Carroll is 6'3" & so is Lukaku. Both seem to score from headers which would make us one of the most feared teams in football next season especially from set pieces. If KK could manage to find a system that accomodates these 2 with Suarez then we could really be in for a lot of silver ware for 2011 & beyond.
KK is left footed & he likes left footed players. Look at most of the players we have been linked with for proof. Carroll, Honda, Charlie Adam, Marveaux, Hulk, Lukaku, Matuidi, Sakho, Cissokho, Mata, Johnson etc

Lukaku is the future. .

I cannot believe that fans are threatening to boycott the club over Joey Barton. If somebody could just turn their backs on our team, then we don't need them. We all know that the end of next season when we win the league, then they'll be back saying that they knew we would come good. We don't need fans like this (let them support Utd)

Yea Damien Comolli was at the game tonight but I think its safe to say no player from that Schalke team tonight will be playing for Liverpool next season. . One player from Schalke that would be good for Liverpool would be Anthony Annan, I don't know if he's injured at the moment or not but he's class, the only problem is he only joined them in January. . He plays similar to Michael Essien and we were linked with him before

The big problem is the centre half. We have good ball winning CB's already and buying either Cahill or Roger Johnston just adds much of a muchness. We need someone like Daniel Agger who can defend but is a pure ball playing CB. Relaxed and comfortable on the ball, quick and a good defender to boot who can play 45/ 50 games a season and not 23 which is Agger's average. I aint seen one yet. But i aint seen them all.

Bob the Red
*************************************

Bob, what about Martin Kelly mate? We know he can defend, and we know he is good on the ball as well. I rate him at RB over GJ, but Glen hasnt had a good run at RB under Keny. He has been quite sound at LB so I think he could have a good go at RB under Kenny. Kelly in with Agger. Kelly to cover RB if Glenn out as well as Flanno. Could save us some money for elsewhere. What do you think?

LIVERPRES

LIVERPRES,

I'm glad you bought up the subject of Martin Kelly because i have a controversial opinion about him.
HOWEVER, is anyone concerned about his injury record? And furthermore his inability to recover from seemingly short span injuries? Last season he played in a CL game against Fiorentina and was injured toward the back end of the game. The diagnosis was he would be out for upto 6 weeks. We never saw him again. Now this year, he tears a Hamstring against West Ham in Feb, and we're told he's out for upto a month. We won't be seeing him again until August at the earliest as he's now had two further set backs.

There's a worrying pattern here of Agger proportions

Bob the Red (PS my glass is mostly half empty! )

Good point mate - he is hard on the pitch, but I hear what you're saying. I hope we are just getting him ready and rested for next season now, and not trying to rush him back. I think he has massive potential, so hope he doesn't fall into the Agger category as you mentioned. He'll come good mate - he's a tough English lad.

{Ed001's Note - actually I just remembered I was going to try and talk up the players I didn't want and talk down those I did as we always go for ones I don't. So, in that spirit, I am going to say how well Enrique performed in the CCC last season, even if I can't remember seeing a game where I didn't groan at his positioning or moan at his crossing!}

In that case, i think the blame lies with you for the fabulous buys Mr. Hodgson graced us with!

Stu. {Ed001's Note - I think I will have to accept that because I never wanted any of the players he brought to the club, except Meireles, purely because I didn't know much about him.}

{Ed001's Note - I am really not convinced by Enrique, he is even more lightweight in my opinion and doesn't have that blistering pace Angel has.}

Angel looks good at both attacking and defending, so too does Cissokho.
I don't think Enrique is particularly good at either!
We can hope ey Ed.

I don't know whether Joey Barton's coming to Liverpool or not. Bu to the people who'll leave the club if he becomes a Liverpool player, here's a question for you. What if he becomes a better person after joining our club?

Forget all about his off field antics (which is hard) but i don't think that Barton is good enough at all. I'd rather have Kevin Nolan, who i also don't think is good enough but better than Barton.

I just don't get this interest at all in Barton? We don't need him, he's crap and he dosn't like us. Never mind anything else.

{Ed001's Note - we did enquire about him a while back, bought Dossena instead because he was thought to be a little weak for the English leagues. We have looked at him since and monitored his progress, we have had scouts at a number of games he has played in this season, I remember discussing with one of the other eds who the scout could be watching in one of them. All I can say is we could be still interested, we defo like someone who plays for Gijon. Oh and I would also have him as my second choice, which is worrying because it makes me feel like I am talking to myself!}

It's a shame i think, he looks a lot better than Enrique, probably alot cheaper also!
Hopefully the circumstances change! {Ed001's Note - I am really not convinced by Enrique, he is even more lightweight in my opinion and doesn't have that blistering pace Angel has.}

In reply to this: I think that kenny should not want full control over the signings FSG arn't going to remove Damion so he's just not going the right way about this. im sure he's the one who tried to buy adam in jan and we are being linked with cahill, warnock and barton because of him. he's clearly out of practice in the scouting and recruiting area. just do his job (manage the squad).

Do you know that it was Kenny Dalglish who signed: Danny Wilson, Raheem Sterling, Jesus "Suso" Fernandez, Jonjo Shelvey and a few more youth players ? Somehow I think his scouting and recruiting are still in good practice with the talented youngsters he has signed. Kenny has done a fantastic job and you must be blind not to realise he has just been doing his job by getting the team from 12th to 5th in the league. He has put a lot of work into getting the team to play from a shower of s**** to a team that can beat anyone, any day. Summer will be in the back of everyone related to the club. Obviously from what you have seen is that Kenny has done a poor job and is only focussing on trying to sign players from July onwards. Think before you type.

And it is kenny who is wanting barton and adam {Ed005's Note - If you believe reports Barton's agent is just mentioning Liverpool to speed up getting his player a new contract. May be true that Kenny likes Barton, but doesn't mean we'll attempt to sign him.}

Sorry. it was pep segura that told benitez to sign him

4-2-3-1 for next year.

Reina
Johnson, Carra, Agger (Jones), Enrique
Gerrard (Meireles), Lucas
Young, Suarez, A. Johnson
Carroll

If we can't get Young then Payet and if we can't get A. Johnson then Dzsudzsak.

In's would be
LB - Enrique (would prefer Armero)
CD - Jones
CM - Sissokho
RM - Young (Payet)
LM - A. Johnson (Dzsudzsak)

Kick ass team imo (and realistic).
