Somethings going on when fowlers has more movement than benteke jaha

Played a blinder.

Believable2 Unbelievable2

{Ed091's Note - was telling a friend of mine how I believed he were the greatest finisher of the prem era, then he superbly hussled through 2/3 defenders, the whole goal to aim at! An shanked it. Hurgh. Rusty.

05 Jun 2016 21:57:24
As we're signing every left back in the world. Mark Wrights just played a blinder in soccer aid. 👍😀.

i agree with you totally, i hope klopp plays moreno higher up like the transition Blae made at Spurs plus with his pace and the fact that he'd be further up i think he'd improve his shooting and decision making. he does possess a good cross too. let's hope for a proper summer market and all. ynwa.

06 Jun 2016 07:41:52
I hope klopp plays Moreno left back, left back at home i. e Spain. You can't make the mistakes he makes at a professional level.

06 Jun 2016 09:13:01
Moreno, whilst good going forward, frequently makes the wrong decision when he's high up the pitch.

he's not up to being a true defensive player, and sadly for him, the same goes offensively.

06 Jun 2016 10:05:58
I had to double then triple check what I was reading. moving further up like Bale? Slight difference is that bale can actually play football. And I'm still scratching me head at how the fact he'd be higher up would help his decision making.? Seriously stumped there haha. moreno is bang average. Panics, one-footed, little composure. Only asset is his pace but that seems to get him in more trouble than anything. Happy for moreno to be sold or demoted.

06 Jun 2016 10:32:37
To be fair to moreno he never has anything to aim at in box whilst crossing.

05 Jun 2016 21:39:37
Would love these mustafi rumours to be true. A signing that would instantly improve the team and inject a bit of quality amidst these youngster buys and links.

Don't ask me how I know him (we met three years back at a charity fundraiser) but I was down the old Ship and Mitre pub this morning, must have clocked in around 8am and Sir Alex Ferguson popped in. Knowing him intimately as I do I offered to buy him a whiskey, on the rocks as he loves to drink that one does Big Al as he prefers to be called by his good friends.

He said I could buy him a drink just so long as he could share all of his knowledge of the tactical side of the beautiful game with me and I agreed (though later I wished I hadn't after he provided me with a 3000 page dossier) .

And so we sat there drinking the hard stuff (I suggested we have a drink in remembrance of Barry Proudfoot who was taken too soon and Alex said a few words) as time flew by, days turned into weeks, weeks into months and so forth. But one thing that particularly caught my attention was when Sir Alex told me the following:

"Oh that Danny Ings lad is a superb talent much more so than any of those scummy United youngsters who I so despise and certainly at present is better than that filthy Swede Zlatan has ever been. "

Anyway as time rattled along I came to the conclusion that other than this statement (which Jose Mourinho himself also relayed to me in the exact same words, don't ask how I know him) sir Alex was a fraud and I couldn't believe how he'd gotten so far.

I told him this and he became red faced and spat his chewing gum at me. It was only then that I realised I'd been talking to Susan Boyle for the past three years. Anyway we sang a little tune I dreamed a dream on the karaoke machine and parted ways.

Probably the most truthful story I've ever read on here to be fair. Cheers Pirlo.

05 Jun 2016 21:32:04
Joe, Danny Ings is indeed a very good player. I was gutted about his injury as soon as Klopp started, and was delighted to see him get some game time against West Brom. Really looking forward to him playing and scoring goals for us next season.

05 Jun 2016 21:52:09
Is Ed002 Susan Boyle? 😱.

05 Jun 2016 21:56:50
Yes I agreed Jeff he is a good lad and a good player Sir Al - SuBo was right it seems.

Yes MK Scouser it seems there's a lot of tall tales and dibs on this particular site, however you will always be East Midlands Scouser to me. As they say at the Black Horse in Melton Mowbray you can take the boy out of the East Midlands but you can't take the East Midlands out of the boy. I've visited the establishment many a time and each time I've been in there the barmaid Tracy tells me the same thing. It feels like deja vu.

06 Jun 2016 00:08:56
There's only one Big Al.

06 Jun 2016 13:16:11
Wow big al I always admired you from afar believing you were a better man than I but now I see you are an ego maniac just like me, to think that there can only be one big al is truly selfish I think we should all allow names to be used for others. However as I said I went to nanda parbat simply to satisfy my ego so I cannot judge this is merely an observation and therapy as it can be traumatic when your heroes turn out to be different then the perfection you painted them as.

05 Jun 2016 20:45:26
Hello guys
Reds fan from Nigeria
This is actually my first post here but I have been an ardent follower of this site.
I would like to say a big thank you to the eds, you are doing a stellar job .

Also fellow reds, I would like your opinion on this, I was discussion with a friend of mine on who was the most exciting player to watch in a Liverpool shirt . I mean the player that made you feel like we could beat any team.

Cheers.

05 Jun 2016 21:33:22
Sturridge.

05 Jun 2016 21:36:18
Shoutout to my Naijaman.

05 Jun 2016 21:38:23
Robbie fowler.

05 Jun 2016 21:39:29
Firmino for me. At times he was world class. That spin against Villareal was special.

05 Jun 2016 21:54:04
Previously, Fowler. Could score from anywhere on the pitch.
Today's team, Firmino. going to be a big season for him.

05 Jun 2016 22:04:54
King Kenny.

05 Jun 2016 22:20:43
Luis Suarez.

05 Jun 2016 21:24:54
Hi Joe, welcome to the madhouse. In recent memory, it has to be Suarez - every time he got the ball you knew he could do something special, but two seasons ago when we nearly won the league he had us gasping at times with his skill and goals. The other player who immediately springs to mind is John Barnes, poetry in motion - he was incredible in that late 80s team. Although not the most popular with a lot of Reds, Michael Owen could create and score goals all by himself out of nothing, such as the 2001 FA Cup Final against Arsenal - with him at his peak we always had a chance. Gerrard was exciting to watch, someone to relate to as a local lad come good. King Kenny was majestic; he was simply the very best player in our greatest teams, with some truly great players alongside him. Kenny is rightly the most revered player of our club, but for me Luis Suarez is the most exciting Liverpool player I can remember, albeit for a relatively short time compared to the others mentioned.

05 Jun 2016 23:09:15
John Barnes.

05 Jun 2016 23:15:59
Tough one - Kenny, Digger, Beardo, Gerrard, Torres, Suarez?

Think I'd go for Suarez or Digger as most exciting.

05 Jun 2016 23:45:24
Barnes for me.

06 Jun 2016 00:06:43
John Barnes for all those years, super sub David Faircloughl when he came on in a match, and latterly Suarez for sheer excitement.

06 Jun 2016 00:32:21
Ian Rush.

06 Jun 2016 01:00:31
Suarez or Torres for me!

06 Jun 2016 01:44:01
Barry Venison.

06 Jun 2016 01:49:32
Sean Dundee 😂😂 Closely followed by Antonio Nunez.

06 Jun 2016 07:22:40
Suarez/ fowler in the past Firmino/ Coutinho right now.

06 Jun 2016 10:30:12
The 1987-90 John Barnes was the best but now for me Suarez,

06 Jun 2016 19:23:07
In recent times it must Luis Suarez, in the past it is Ian Rush for me.

06 Jun 2016 23:03:47
Most exciting - Suarez followed closely by Barnes
But if you are talking about who would make me feel like we would beat any other team - Souness. He lifted everyone around him.

05 Jun 2016 20:30:12
I'm bored of all this "will Sturridge and Coutinho stay or go" stuff.

I for one am really looking forward to seeing a team next season built by Klopp that will run through barbed wire for each other. The likes of Henderson, Firmino, Ings, Lucas, Lovren, Flanagan, Origi and Can absolutely burst their lungs every game.

Even Milner, Moreno, Sakho, Clyne and Lallana who will all most likely still be here next season, may not have masses of quality but they play hard and put in more effort than most.

Leicester have shown this season that a team of hard working players, fighting for one another can pull off incredible things. Who honestly thought a team with Huth, Albrighton, Simpson, Morgan and Drinkwater would run away with the title? If we have a few players who think we as a club are beneath them, or that they are above working their balls off, then good luck to them in their greener fields. No bitterness necessary, just let them go.

We are going places under Klopp and we will build a team with passion, spirit and togetherness.

If there is anything this club has shown it can do in the last 3 decades, it is band together as one and win against all odds. Prima donnas? Manchester City is the next bus stop so keep on moving.

Believable11 Unbelievable7

05 Jun 2016 20:36:53
Cant agree more mate.

05 Jun 2016 20:57:25
You can have a team of work horses and watch Milner every week, but will they who you matches? Coutinho and Sturridge will, and maybe they will have bad games, but we need players like that.

05 Jun 2016 21:03:11
Just for the record Fencey, I don't think Sturridge is going anywhere, and I'm pleased about that. Coutinho on the other hand, I accepted weeks ago that he would be leaving. It's been virtually a dead cert since the EL final defeat consigned us to no European football next year.

05 Jun 2016 21:38:57
You need a mix of both workhorses and a dose of talent in the right areas. LC may have shown that you may not need expensive and talented players BUT they have shown that talented players in the right areas like Mahrez, Vardy and Kante, make a HUGE difference as well.

05 Jun 2016 21:57:26
With you MK. I think Spurs are the setters in what we are trying to achieve. The blessing in disguise will be the more training time available between matches.
Looking forward to it already.

05 Jun 2016 21:53:12
Not sure y are we buying 5-6 players this summer if everything is in order. This Leicester comparison is getting bored and annoying. Would they repeat this year? Why are their players leaving their club?

06 Jun 2016 03:51:46
even if it won't repeat harry, it does not change the fact that leicester and blackburn both have done something liverpool couldnt, and that is to win the premier league title.

players leave their clubs every year.

{Ed001's Note - Chelsea played a similar way the year before, a few talented players, but mainly it was about hard work. Man Utd won it with an awful side and Van Persie up top, again by hard work. Flair needs to be matched by industry to win trophies. To say Leicester are a one off is ignorant. The only thing unique about it was the name of the team, not the way they won it.}

06 Jun 2016 05:39:08
exactly ed001, the title was won from 38 games, not just 1 game how is that a one off? they deserved to win the title.

even if their best players leave, but if replaced adequately, don't be surprised to see them do it again.

06 Jun 2016 08:18:01
Its stupid and sheer ignorance of the OP to label Leicester in the bracket of just hard working professionals. They are much much more than that and hence their players are being chased by big clubs across. To beat teams by 4-0, 3-0 you need to be supremly talented.

06 Jun 2016 09:16:16
thoroughly agree with Ed01 comments.

how many times in the Prem era did Utd win the title, and we probably sat down and thought "how the hell did they do that? ".

hard work, team ethic, and a manager driving them on.

06 Jun 2016 11:16:26
And how are Henderson, Can, Firmino, Origi and Lovren not talented? Plus if we sold Coutinho we'd sign a replacement. Nkoudou possibly as he plays down the left.

You do say some stupid things Harry. This squad slaughtered Southampton 6-1, City 3-0, Villarreal 3-0, Villa 6-0 etc.

So don't sit there and make out none of our players have talent.

05 Jun 2016 20:22:08
Just waiting for the first link to Mark Wright.

Believable6 Unbelievable5

05 Jun 2016 21:11:36
I'd have him over Moreno! Better free kick taker than most of our lot too.

05 Jun 2016 20:01:41
Evening eds, do you think Henderson will remain captain next season?

Believable5 Unbelievable5

{Ed002's Note - I expect so.}

05 Jun 2016 20:37:38
Unfortunately.

05 Jun 2016 21:58:11
You don't rate him Jurgen?
Who would you have mate?

06 Jun 2016 07:27:03
I don't rate him mate no. I really want to and will support any decisions to keep him but I don't believe he's good enough for Liverpool at present.

Fingers crossed I'm proved wrong next season. He's still a Liverpool player so I still stand by him and wish him all the luck in the world.

For me if I could choose I'd have Can as captain.

06 Jun 2016 08:07:00
You think Can is better than Hendo? 🤔.

06 Jun 2016 16:48:24
I don't Ron no, but I certainly believe he will be, he's showed far more promise then Hendo has, he will be an outstanding player for us. well, should he keep with us of course.

Like I say I don't rate hendo, never have done and until he steps it up I never will do, he needs to sort it out big time, he's done nothing for us and I fear he never will, he shouldn't be our captain. come on, for Liverpool we have Hendo as captain? sorry but I disagreed with it from day one hoping i'd regret disagreeing, I still don't.

He's had his time to prove himself and simply hasn't. Yes he's had the odd good game but at his age he should be having quality games the majority of the games he plays (not all, no footballer ever does)

Nevermind the unlucky side of him been injured alot, for a pro footballer at his age he shouldn't be injured that much. its ridiculous, not for the money these fellas are on, he's at the age where he should be at his best and the thing is, i feel he really is at his best. which is bad for us, because he's no good.

Many people stick by him because he's a Liverpool player/ captain including myself, but many seem to forget about the quality our team need, he's not quality, he never will be and the sooner he's moved on the better. waste of wages. Mark my words betime next summer when he hasn't yet impressed, he'll be moved on. all i'm saying is, if only it was this summer, but beggars can't be choosers.

05 Jun 2016 18:14:51
Hi Eds, question for you all and football related rather club so hope you don't mind.

Do you create a chat page for international tournaments? If so does it encompass all transfers rumours from various clubs of players performing in the tournament?

Sounds like a lot of hard work maybe, but would be a hell of fun from readers side. You don't need rely, but let everyone else argue it out. Like a referendum in football!

Believable0 Unbelievable3

{Ed002's Note - We can probably have a chat page for the tournament but we certainly won't have all of the transfer information on that one page - that remains on the relevant pages.}

05 Jun 2016 21:11:31
That's great news Ed002, understand re transfer info - big enough subject already! Thanks for reply.

05 Jun 2016 18:04:18
Is Joe Allen OK? Didn't play for Wales vs Sweden today.

Danny Ward did OK, even though he let in two goals. Had his hands on borh of them.

Believable1 Unbelievable5

05 Jun 2016 18:53:24
He had a knock from the training camp in Portugal. They reckon he'll be ok for the Slovakia game.

05 Jun 2016 17:20:04
Ed002 what's your opinion on who's better our of dahoud, zielinski, coric and bozoer

Rated 1,2,3&4you don't have to give a break down or anything.

Just a quick one.

Believable0 Unbelievable6

{Ed002's Note - I don't have any way of ranking who is better from this list of random players. And this is the Liverpool page.}

05 Jun 2016 18:00:22
Sorry just in the past you have said zielinski isn't first team ready and bozoer and coric have a bright future so just threw dahoud in aswel and thought i could get your valued super opinion on them. sorry.

{Ed002's Note - But this is the Liverpool page. You would do better asking on the European page.}

05 Jun 2016 19:28:54
Fair enough, just thought we had interest in coric, dahoud and zielinski. Will send to other page. 😊.

05 Jun 2016 13:36:44
With edd 2 confirming further down the page we are doing deals around £100 million I fear for the youngsters getting a chance.
I really hope it's not 100 million wasted. I think too many players coming in will give us another year of transition and no top 4. Hopefully klopp gets it right and we can have a good season.

Believable3 Unbelievable3

{Ed002's Note - That is £100M a day.}

05 Jun 2016 14:03:47
That's £100m a day just on left backs Ed.

05 Jun 2016 14:25:29
Not to mention Jurgen's phone bill.

{Ed001's Note - we will need all the remaining oil sheikhs and Chinese to band together to cover our debts at this rate......}

05 Jun 2016 14:50:40
I hope our fax machine is working okay.

05 Jun 2016 15:12:35
Good news for agents 😄.

05 Jun 2016 16:20:33
I am confused are we really spending that much. If we are will that impact the sale of club.
Surly the owners will need to recoop that kind of investment. Football really is loosing touch with the supporters 100 million a day that's outrageous. Can we not give the youth a chance and find the next big thing. also is the sale of club just days away then with that kind of investment surly the owners can't keep up with the cost of all these transfers.

05 Jun 2016 16:46:40
Me thinks they jest my good man ;-)

05 Jun 2016 17:12:36
Perhaps it's all the money Klipperty wants to spend on Left Backs that's made the owners Surly? 😉.

05 Jun 2016 17:30:13
This thread made my day 😂😂😂.

05 Jun 2016 22:08:24
Social media killed sarcasm years ago lol hope we spend well!

05 Jun 2016 11:24:23

Talk about nailing your predictive ads on this website. Just above this thread is appearing an ad for "Dont do drugs. 15 scary pictures of celebs before and after"

05 Jun 2016 11:13:30
Morning eds and reds.
I was wondering, what with our over inflated squad, obvious need to shift large numbers of fringe players off the books and little activity on that front, have the club decided to wait until after the euros to sell (hoping that good performances from the likes of Allen / ward / benteke. will push the prices up) or is it simply no one wants them?
Cheers.

Believable0 Unbelievable3

{Ed002's Note - The transfer window has yet to open.}

05 Jun 2016 11:09:28
Looks like going for quantity rather than quality, again.

I was kind of hoping we'd moved on and learnt by now.

Early days, I know, but not great.

Believable1 Unbelievable28

05 Jun 2016 11:38:07
Are we?

05 Jun 2016 13:07:24
Transfer window hasn't even opened yet mate how can you point the finger at the moment? and what do you mean 'Not great'?

05 Jun 2016 13:29:16
I always prefer getting he necessities in early, for scamper we've got a goaly and a centre half and looking at a left back clearly.
Then for extra players, we should wait, see who is to be sold, and see who is available. Things change all the time, if we signed an attacking player then gotze became available would you not moan still?
Wait until they have played and the transfer season is over before saying we haven't signed any quality.

05 Jun 2016 15:10:28
You only need to look at this past season and think where Leicester and Man City ended, to realise you don't necessarily need your superstars in the side, if they are the right players!

05 Jun 2016 15:23:47
Karius and Matip rated two of the best for their positions in Bundesliga last year and a top rated midfielder prospect. Don't know where you're coming from wiwar.

05 Jun 2016 22:53:03
As I said, it's early days, but could any of the early links e. g. Amavi, Hector, Chilwell be considered a real improvement in starting 11 quality on Moreno?

And why be looking to pay for 2 new LBs when we've (hopefully) got Smith waiting in the wings and possibly Gomez (unless his time really is up, as it seems is Ibe's) .

To paraphrase Ed002s recent comments, it all points towards padding rather than real improvement to first 11.

06 Jun 2016 05:09:47
Even though he is a fellow Aussie, Smith hasn't exactly taken his chances. Gomez is young and coming back from a long injury layoff (look how rusty Flanno was when he came back) so would be a big risk to start the season relying on him. And clearly Klopp is exasperated by Moreno and wants him to be challenged (if not replaced) . So I can understand them looking for replacements.

05 Jun 2016 09:47:29
Read a report that Alex Witzel of Zenit is looking to move to a more competitive league and is in last year of contract. Good player from what I remember and for right fee would be worth looking at.

Believable3 Unbelievable3

{Ed002's Note - He is getting close to a move to England, but not Liverpool. Else Italy.}

05 Jun 2016 12:46:57
Probably the type of midfielder we actually need, aggressive, strong defensively and would offer a physical presence.

05 Jun 2016 12:51:11
Would that be Stoke ed?

{Ed002's Note - Yes.}

05 Jun 2016 13:30:29
Can anyone confirm how much roughly they are signing him for?

05 Jun 2016 14:06:46
I'd have him he's good. We're Lacking presence us.

05 Jun 2016 14:37:45
DBol I agree not hugely gifted technically but has great presence and strength which is something we are sadly missing.

05 Jun 2016 15:43:47
Poolie your thinking of fellaini. Witsel is actually very good technically. Just because he is a big man doesn't make him a big lump. Excellent player.

05 Jun 2016 17:15:00
Imbula and Witsel is a fantastic midfield pair. That's a brilliant signing for Stoke City.

05 Jun 2016 19:08:28
Shame we never tried for him.

05 Jun 2016 19:58:04
Witsel is average. Poor passer, very immobile, concedes more fouls than Lucas, doesn't score or create goals.

Can't believe you (Dbol and Harry) would happily force Hendo out the club and replace him with dross like Witsel. He's like Wanyama or Tiote. Just a brute who adds barely anything else aside from aggression.

If you want midfield power house you go for players who also have some craft to their game like Matic, Khedeira, Dembele etc.

Some people on this site have about as much tactical understanding as Steve McLaren's umbrella.

05 Jun 2016 09:03:07
Morning Eds
Do you think our failure to get champions league or European football will hinder our chances of getting Klopps main targets or do u see it as a blessing in disguise in that players that do come in are doing so because they believe in Klopps vision for the club, what he expects from them (100 % commitment ) and not for major financial gain like most modern day football mercenaries .
Cheers Ed great site .

Believable2 Unbelievable4

{Ed001's Note - both.}

05 Jun 2016 09:45:15
Have to admit as long as we don't go shopping at Southampton and don't go after Keiron Gibbs, that would be partially successful summer.

05 Jun 2016 12:15:30
If we still had Rodgers in charge then I would say we would be at a big disadvantage with no CL football.

With klopp at the helm though i'd imagine he has a big enough pull to get players with no CL football.

When players say they want CL football I interpret that as the player wants as high a wages as possible.

{Ed002's Note - No, they want to play at the highest level in the European game.}

05 Jun 2016 12:57:14
Well they could always move to Celtic, Shakhtar Donetsk, Basel or Galatasaray (etc. ) . Guaranteed CL every year :D.

05 Jun 2016 13:10:25
At least we know the players transferring into Liverpool this summer are coming here to play for Reasons other than euro football, money most probably, a stepping stone to more money also likely, but we can at least all hope they are coming here because of the lure of our great club or the lure of such a charismatic manager.

05 Jun 2016 17:23:41
Majority of the young players see Liverpool as a step over to Barcelona or Real etc. there is no shame in accepting it. Not sure about Klopp's pulling power as he is struggling to keep hold of Coutinho as well couldn't pull Gotze ( A super name ) to the club. It's an awful mentality to categorize players as mercenaries who refuse to join us. There might be plenty of reasons for any kind of rejection.

05 Jun 2016 18:53:04
Sorry but a large proportion of players just want the money.

Delph to city went for money not CL football, teixeria went to china for money the list goes on.

The pull of the premier league is due to the high wages paid.

05 Jun 2016 19:20:47
If I am right, Liverpool has the 5th highest wage bill in the league and are the top spenders from past 3 years. Some of our players, In fact majority are on very high wages. CL and past records are a real concern for a player who has 4-5 years of top flight football left in their career.

05 Jun 2016 06:37:19
''Four Liverpool players found themselves on the CIES most valuable player list''

Philippe Coutinho, who was the only Red to break into the top 50 when he wound up at number 27 and valued at £41 million.

Next in line was Emre Can at number 59 and worth £31 million.

Roberto Firmino was close behind, having been numbered at 65 and worth £30m,

Finally Jordon Ibe at number 95, having been valued at £23.7 million.

Obviously all hypothetical but i thought it would be interesting none the less.

Believable5 Unbelievable4

05 Jun 2016 09:04:47
I rate Ibe but he has done nothing so far to justify that guesstimate.

Let's be honest, the pricing in football is completely out of control. It's embarrassing. I find it best to let the clubs deal with finances and steer well clear of getting obsessed with who cost what and how much we should get for them.

The system is based on age, ability, potential to improve, what league they play in, and contract length.

These systems are never reliable though as the ability and potential criteria are completely subjective. So it is essentially a system to rank the value of players using age, contract length, and where they play. Hence why Wilfried Zaha breaks in at 87th with a £25m value despite being a sprinter conning a living in top flight football.

The whole system can be debunked by that alone. Transfermarkt has more accurate valuations, and that is saying something!

ibe just needed to be played regulary. what a wasted opportunity not playing him in the league. I think klopp was doing his best to work his magic with the clubs recent investments, with only benteke the one who was not worth the effort.

It's an econometrics model that I'm sure a lot of work has gone into but it states as well that they bump their prices up by 10% just because they find on average that they are usually 10% under valued. Anyone with a knowledge of econometrics would know that this is a joke off the bat as their algorithm should be altered once they realize that players are coming out undervalued not just throw an extra 10% on for the craic!

Some values that stood out to me on there:
Martial-£111m
Aguero £96m
Sterling £72m
Delle Ali £75m
Depay £43m
Jordan Ibe was one place higher (more expensive) than Reus.
