I hope edd 2 is ok.

Believable6 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I am fine, thank you.}

05 Jul 2017 22:43:41
Ed002 I thought you barred yourself?! ✌😏.

05 Jul 2017 23:52:54
Good to hear keep up the good work and enjoy your travels.

05 Jul 2017 22:17:46
Hi Ed's

What is the prospect of these players in the coming season?

Do you think anyone of them will kick on and make a place for themself in the team?

1. Woodburn

2. Grujic

3. Gomez

4. Ings

5. Solanke - was it a wise decision for him to join us instead of Celtic or orther clubs where he would have been a starter?

Cheers.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - They will be fringe players at best.}

05 Jul 2017 22:23:24
I'd love to see more of Ings, how is he recovering eds? the lads had a lot of bad luck the past couple of years but I believe there's a hidden gem in him.

{Ed002's Note - He is fit.}

05 Jul 2017 22:45:18
Oh right, I wasn't aware cheers ed2. Onward and upwards for the lad hopefully.

05 Jul 2017 22:49:58
Hes a solid 8/ 10.

05 Jul 2017 23:42:07
Like to see them all get games and Ward an opportunity too. Just buy a top LB and see what we've already got before splashing £70m like we print our own.

06 Jul 2017 07:57:12
Ings/ Sturridge/ Origi/ Solanke are pretty decent options. I'd love to see Ings fully recovered and in a front three with Mane and Salah. That would be a nightmare for defences.

05 Jul 2017 21:44:09
As a break from the transfer shenanigans. Does anyone see Ian Rush's goal record ever being broken?

346 goals is some haul.

05 Jul 2017 22:06:34
You never know, a "Ronaldo" figure could emerge at a young age and play into his 30's for us.

Extremely unlikely in my opinion with squad rotation etc.

05 Jul 2017 21:14:40
Response to Jonnyred from earlier
Keane wanted Man Utd but when they signed Lindelof he wasn't confident he'd get enough playing time so said he wouldn't join them.

Re: Everton spending

To be fair I think they've bought quite well. At this rate they could finish 7th next season ;)

Believable7 Unbelievable4

05 Jul 2017 21:37:50
yeah and at this rate we might finish 8th, say what you want about Everton, at least they are improving their squad.

05 Jul 2017 22:04:15
Get a grip. Even if we didn't sign a single player we would still finish above Everton.

{Ed025's Note - you may regret those words at the end of next season CJ..

05 Jul 2017 22:20:21
If they finish above us I'm sure they'll make a DVD about it.

05 Jul 2017 22:17:16
I agree with you ed25, I know your an Everton fan and all and it pains me to see them doing well in this window. Not to mention the signings you are looking at. I see many people saying your new signings aren't that great, well I completely disagree, it's making your team better incredibly in my opinion and im gutted about it lol.

Say what you want CJ, im a football fan as well as a Liverpool fan and right now, Everton are doing business a lot better then we are, 5 days in and they've gone and do what they intended to do, strengthen their weak positions. We however, well need I say more?

I thought we'd of had a LB, CB and maybe even a RB signed by now, should've been sorted before the window even opened yet we go and get Salah? a player let's be honest, we didn't need him.

Wake up.

{Ed025's Note - the thing is teabag that supporters get restless, we have been there and it seems that other clubs are making progress while you are static, and guys get scared that all the good ones will be gone by the time your club gets its arse into gear, it also can seem that at the end of the window clubs pay through the nose in desperation, for once we have started early and im happy about that mate..

05 Jul 2017 22:31:42
Everton will fight relegation but will survive.

05 Jul 2017 22:41:05
Very true ed25, thanks mate.

{Ed025's Note - no probs mate..

05 Jul 2017 23:04:01
Everton have done so much business its like they have players on tap.

06 Jul 2017 02:45:17
They have had to get their players in early before the likes of Lukaku and Barkley leave.

06 Jul 2017 03:40:21
if you think everton doing well is signing the likes of Rooney you're delusional. Rooney couldn get in a team which finished 6th. The players they have signed are average and will get them back into 7 place as the original poster said. If they lose lukaku and barkley they will end up weaker.

06 Jul 2017 06:44:31
Be difficult to judge Everton and other team's transfer dealings until the window closes.
For example, Everton have bought lots of players but do they keep hold of Lukaku and Barkley?
Admittedly, sooner the players are signed the more time the coaches have to work with them Pre season, but the more new players required the harder it may be to integrate them into the team/ squad.
Our starting 11 can compete with anyone in the prem. keep our best players and improve quality of the squad as we are doing (Salah and seemingly other potential quality additions) and we'll continue to compete.

06 Jul 2017 07:13:58
Anyone doubting how well Everton have done in their business is dilusional.
Pickford and Keane have both been linked with Champions League teams, Everton made their move shrewdly.
Klaasen and the striker I have not seen much of but Klaasen has been captain at Ajax and is it Sandro Ramirez from Malaga has done well for a lower team in Spain, a team that made the Champs league a while back.
A GK, CB, CM, ST, acquisitions that are young, with a captain in there, right up the spine of the team.
Rooney might not be the player he was, but it would still be a coup for Everton, shirt sales alone make it a very shrewd piece of business.
Everton were already the most efficient team and beating those below the top 7, but struggled against the bigger teams, these signings will surely help them do that.

On the other hand, we are in a different position, needing to fine tune areas of our squad as opposed to a full renovation, which is why we are not spending as freely, as well as the fact that we cocked up in regards to VVD.

06 Jul 2017 07:55:39
Swishcleaner, Who mentioned anything about Rooney? - for the record I agree, he'd be a terrible signing for any club in my opinion.

06 Jul 2017 12:35:36
teabag apparently him signing for them is fairly imminent. he's been awful for the last 3 years. i hope they do sign him. will fit in perfectly with the rest of their squad :)

{Ed025's Note - pint of bitter for swish..

05 Jul 2017 20:51:29
Hi there, do you think Liverpool will change their captain for next season? Or do you think Henderson will be a garunteed starter?

Thanks.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - Henderson is the captain I don't see any change to that.}

05 Jul 2017 21:34:44
Hendo and can to compete as hendo has his niggles.

05 Jul 2017 21:58:35
If they changed captaincy it'd be a huge mistake and disrupt things too much. I do understand what your saying though, especially if we sign Kieta.

05 Jul 2017 20:48:09
Does anyone think we might be waiting to qualify for the CL before going for our big signings?
Might be a more attractive proposition once we qualify for the group stages?

Believable0 Unbelievable9

{Ed002's Note - Right, that must be it.}

05 Jul 2017 21:35:21
I hope not Ron because the premier league will also be started by then.

05 Jul 2017 21:43:13
And if we don't get in Ron? I'd rather use the prospect of champs league (plus the fact better players = better chance of qualifying) . If we get knocked out, it's back to the drawing board, since we already seem to be in plan b (or c) I'd get my business done now if I was LFC.

05 Jul 2017 22:07:35
Wasn't suggesting it as a good idea, just wondered if it might happen.

05 Jul 2017 22:18:39
Ah, ok.

05 Jul 2017 23:08:28
I was hopeing we'd have a centre half bedded in by then.

Lovren in important games can get very jittery.

05 Jul 2017 23:22:18
Dermott what are the important games lovren got "jittery" in? We were unbeaten against all the top teams last year and tend to defend/ play better in those.

09 Jul 2017 03:08:59
We are not playing domestic teams though.

These qualifiers are like a 2 legged final against a 3rd or 4th placed teams from other European leagus.

Do you remember how we bottled it against Seville when Sakho got injured?

My concern is that while we have strengthened up front we have, as of yet not strengthened the Achilles heel of last years team. The defence.

The centre halfs are a part of the cental spine of the team and in my opinion Lovren and Klaven do not cut the mustard and it is a huge game to play Gomes in. that's all.

{Ed001's Note - and huge games are when players get experience.}

05 Jul 2017 20:42:48
Solanke in training with new team mates warring number 29 shorts
YNWA LFC.

Believable5 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Let's hope he does well. He was well thought of at Chelsea.}

05 Jul 2017 20:49:26
Indeed Ed!

Liverpool have got a real talent here, needs to be nurtured correctly and given time by the fans.

He's not a world bester yet let's remember that, but he certainly has lots of potential.

{Ed002's Note - I am not so sure he needs nurturing - he is a very confident yuoung man.}

05 Jul 2017 20:51:17
Let's hope he is given a fair chance too Ed002.

05 Jul 2017 21:09:28
Fair play to you Ed002. Very noble comment!

05 Jul 2017 21:30:04
I think I meant nurturing as given time and opportunity and to improve instead of being thrown in the deep end and rejected after a couple of bad games. A la Karius.

{Ed002's Note - OK, I am sure he will not be thrown in at the deep end.}

05 Jul 2017 21:36:36
Nice one ed. Wish we could have grabbed ake off you lot too, he looks a real prospect as you have said before.

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool had no interest in him - and he only left because he wanted assurances about playing time.}

05 Jul 2017 20:19:23
I am happy with salah but it's a joke how much Everton are spending and we seem to be no closer to signing anyone arsenal signing lacazette is a joke when are we going to stop haggling and sign some players sorry for the rant eds just annoyed lol.

Believable0 Unbelievable21

{Ed002's Note - The transfer window has been open 5 days and Liverpool has signed two players. It is embarrassing reading this trash.}

05 Jul 2017 20:37:47
Quality takes a little longer than quantity 😉.

05 Jul 2017 20:30:20
Everton spent 30 on bolasie, what difference did that make except a 30 million pound hole on the flanks of goodies on park.

{Ed025's Note - he got injures fencey, we paid the going rate...you should try it some time.. :)

05 Jul 2017 20:48:50
evening all, can we please stop this eagerness to get every signing in by yesterday? It's ridiculous to be honest and the same people would moan if we got all are business done in the first few days and was quiet the rest of the window.

05 Jul 2017 21:06:41
I couldn't care less who other teams are buying .

Lacazette. Arsenal we were never in for him.

Lindleof . United, we were never in for him.

Rudiger. Chelsea, we were never in for him.

You get the theme.

05 Jul 2017 21:16:43
It's not trash mate the window been open 5 days and we not doing owt we need to strengthen the back 4 get Keira in and we will be good.

{Ed002's Note - You have to be dumb as a box of rocks - Liverpool has already signed two players. I am assuming you have no grasp about how the transfer process works.}

05 Jul 2017 20:48:24
Paid what was asked as opposed to the "going rate" I would suggest. However, still something we should, perhaps consider.

05 Jul 2017 21:27:33
Five days, two signings, that's good going isn't it?

05 Jul 2017 22:00:49
Transfer window hysteria.

05 Jul 2017 23:28:24
This is hilarious. maybe we should be happy the club seem to be targeting players that their clubs don't actually want to sell because maybe they are quite good at footy. Put the way the club has acted to one side and how they screwed that up. with that or not, the signings would not have happened yet and would been just as difficult to complete because as the Eds have said on numerous occasions the club's don't want to lose the players we are after.

06 Jul 2017 08:01:18
Actually thing this might be a windup if we didn't all have to read this kind of dribble from posters everyday.

05 Jul 2017 19:44:01
Arsenal buying Lacazette shows that you don't need to be in Champions League to get good players. Money talks. LFC just use convenient excuses. When they aren't in the Champions League they use that as an excuse for not signing big names. When they are in it. waiting for the excuses.

Believable2 Unbelievable23

05 Jul 2017 20:17:11
Oh jog on and moan elsewhere!

People here are too busy supporting their team for this nonsense!

05 Jul 2017 20:01:54
London helps.

05 Jul 2017 20:35:59
I think he makes a fair point as does Jimmy boy.

05 Jul 2017 20:51:16
Works both ways in this case. Money of course talks even when not in the champions league look at Manchester United for example when they persuaded Di Maria to sign plus Ibrahimovic without European football its all about the astronomical wages. London on the other hand seemed to persuade Lacazette along with a word in the ear of Thierry Henry probably.

{Ed002's Note - London persuaded Lacazette over where?}

05 Jul 2017 20:52:32
The fact they wanted him probably helps too. I doubt we did. And remember we are not even in the champions league proper this year yet. Never mind the fact arsenal have been in it for so many years in a row.

05 Jul 2017 21:06:44
Over to Arsenal? Isn't that what the whole post is about lol.

05 Jul 2017 21:37:59
But firmino is our first choice striker so why would we need him? We also have studge, ings, origi and solanke to name a few.

05 Jul 2017 22:10:37
Don't get this Lacazette hype? Does he start for France? No, Giroud does (he's played 11 games in 4 years since his debut) . Have Barca, Real, Bayern, Juve, Chelsea, City or the likes ever been interested in him? No. He's scored 5 goals in 18 games (ever) in the champions league. So really has he ever been tested at the highest level? No again. We will see how good he is this year but personally just don't think he can have this fuss around him when he has never proved it at the best level for club or his national side.

05 Jul 2017 23:19:23
I know this is not directly LFC related but since we are on about other clubs signings.

In all fairness if any manager or club needed a big signing to appease their fans its Arsenal.

Its crazy what they put Wenger through last season.

1 year out of 20 not in the champs league, a couple of titles and a brand new fully paid off stadium.

Not bad in my book.

{Ed025's Note - arsene brought a lot of that on himself dermot, im not excusing the abuse but he is a very stubborn man who had money at his disposal but decided unilaterally not to spend it mate..

05 Jul 2017 23:45:14
Liverpool4life ed meant London persuaded him to chose arsenal instead of which other club. Where any others in the premier league in for him? We weren't, United weren't, city weren't.? Almost certain he actually wanted Madrid until their bank was confirmed.

06 Jul 2017 21:52:26
I agree 100% ED.

Fergie was stubborn as well

Clough was worse.

The mad thing is who would step in after Wenger.

It would be similar to Moyes and Fergie.

You never see Arsenals assistant managers stepoing up.

{Ed025's Note - im a massive fan of what he has achieved at arsenal dermot but there does come a time when its time to call it a day...and i believe that time was at the end of last season mate..

05 Jul 2017 17:23:36
Friend of mine follows "The Firm" on twitter (no idea who they are? )

They are stating that Keita has had talks with RBL and will reject a new deal as he is set on a move to LFC.

Saying it will be done by the 14th July.

Any news of these talks happening Eds?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Try asking on Twitter. And he doesn't need a new deal.}

05 Jul 2017 17:30:11
The firm haven't a clue, no idea how people are believing them.

05 Jul 2017 17:35:45
Are we dipping into our offshore accounts on the Cayman Islands to pay for Keita now?

05 Jul 2017 19:49:46
If we offload Sakho, Markovitch and Moreno, that should well recoup the fee we paid for Salah.
Solanke will hopefully only cost us £3 million.
So there's probably plenty left in the kitty for Keita. even at £70million. plus a decent centre back and left back.

05 Jul 2017 20:22:25
Not sure what Gary Oldman would know about our transfer targets.

05 Jul 2017 19:54:25
Nick name for Firminio.?

05 Jul 2017 20:26:55
Sakho - I'd never heard of the firm either, but I just scrolled through their posts and they seem to be pretty convincing, reporting a lot before anyone else did! They and graeme kelly think we'll still end up with VVD, keita, robertson and the ox. Don't know who to believe!

05 Jul 2017 20:55:46
Chandu we have hearing the exact same things for about 2 weeks. Most are just regurgitating from each other and adding any little random twist.

06 Jul 2017 00:20:56
Chandu, trust me they know nothing. They claimed salah wasn't completed for 3 weeks because of image rights.

05 Jul 2017 16:53:55
Re: transfer fees

I am having a hard time justifying how the transfer fee, player wages, agent fees are so inflated when there so many more pressing needs where these monies should be directed to.

As much as I love the sport and the club, and as much as I would love to see us have the best players in the world. That amount of money is obscene considering at the basic level it is just entertainment.

Believable6 Unbelievable1

05 Jul 2017 17:03:47
In 2015 Kenneth C. Griffin paid approximately $300million for a 3m2 board with some random paint squiggles on it and that's just for looking at.

People spend loads of money on things that other people don't think represent good value, always have and always will.

Best to just enjoy watching the football and looking at the paint splatters and forget about what someone else has paid to make it happen.

05 Jul 2017 17:19:00
Hi Red Dawn- I'm guessing that the painting was Jackson Pollocks.
I'm going to leave that one alone.

05 Jul 2017 17:19:00
Hi Red Dawn- I'm guessing that the painting was Jackson Pollocks.
I'm going to leave that one alone.

05 Jul 2017 17:33:07
both of them.

05 Jul 2017 18:07:12
2 wrongs do not make a right, people have all the right to spend as they please. In my opinion spending on people having basic necessities is more important than spending on entertainment. What is worse is when people actually justify by minimizing amounts i. e. spend 80mil spend 100mil coz that is what the team needs, even a million is more than what most of us will see in our lifetime. As much as I would love for us to have the messi's and ronaldo's of the world I'd be much happier and proud of the club if that money went to deserving causes p. s. not saying we are in for messi or ronaldo.

I think last summer in the prem represented over a billion spent just in transfer fees, that money couldve been used for cancer research, providing food, clean water and more urgent needs.

05 Jul 2017 19:25:06
The money leaking out of football is more outrageous than the money going in. Add-ons for agents, player representatives and other leeches are adding 20%-30% to the total cost of a transfer.

{Ed025's Note - i know digger...its criminal mate..

05 Jul 2017 20:19:36
I wish the governing bodies could put a cap on what agents get paid . they would clearly find a way round it though.

{Ed002's Note - There are quite strict rules now but some clubs are paying well over the odds - and one club has paid stratospheric amounts.}

05 Jul 2017 20:25:12
I agree Waqas, but you can't expect football clubs to wipe out third world debt. The fact is they will continue to buy players for their teams.

05 Jul 2017 20:58:09
I do not expect them to be wiping off any debt (they can shave off a significant chunk), the amounts being quoted are bothersome to me, people writing off those amounts saying its nothing in this market are even more bothersome. I expected FFP to regulate these issues and be stricter than it actually is.

05 Jul 2017 22:01:32
Ed2 in principle how easy is it to become an agent . is there much screening from the fa etc, I remember Anelka having his brother as an agent, didn't he even go on to manage raith rovers for a bit.

{Ed002's Note - There is a registration process in all countries and it tends to vary somewhat - particularly in Germany. I don't know how many registered player representatives there are out there right now but it is a large number. Very few make any sort of decent money out of it.}

05 Jul 2017 22:23:50
Cheers Ed top man as always, think I'll stick to my day job.

05 Jul 2017 16:27:34
Hi eds, first time poster but avid reader. I'm a little despondent reading at the mo. The negativity is mind blowing. People slating players that play/ don't for my beloved club. The poor lad Robertson (hull) has been linked and I'm not saying we're going to sign him but if we do then get behind the lad, give him a chance. Players go to clubs and never work out even though they are great players for all sorts of reasons. Other players come not that highly rated/ marque signing/ unknowns (big Sammy springs to mind) and go on to icons. So basically trust in what the club are trying do. It's silly season and we're not going to get all first choice signings anyway. As much as we'd all like vvd, keita, etc, some people were not going to get for all sorts of reasons. Klopp is renound for making players not paying huge amounts. So just get behind who ever comes in. Not all are going to work but name me any club that gets every transfer right ever time. Sorry for the long winded post and keep up your fantastic work and insights.

Some didn't want Ian Rush in the day and look what happened!

05 Jul 2017 20:12:03
Jackson pollocks surly at 300 million it has to be the dogs 😉.

05 Jul 2017 20:16:02
Fair play rushy 1975 all that glitters is not gold very true words spoken maybe some fans need to take this on board before blowing off about transfer activity!

05 Jul 2017 20:23:58
My god.

And some people didn't want benteke, carrol, aqulani, ballotelli, markovic, cisse, klavan, clyne, milner. guess what.

05 Jul 2017 15:23:40
Eds, if you have time to get away from all the transfer news, would love your opinions on a a few ex players. Firstly Berger- thought he was brilliant for us and was gutttd when he left though it seemed injury had got the better him at that time. The other 2 are clough and leonhardsen. Both I was excited to sign, had been massive success's at prior clubs. Did okay for us but where did it go wrong? Wrong system? Wrong manager? Wrong positions? Just not good enough? Thanks for any reply.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - I remember Paddy Berger well, me ma was obsessed with him. Hammer of a left foot, great skill on the ball and a genuinely nice lad who loved Liverpool. Injuries and poor coaching did not help him make the most of his talents though. He had pace and skill but was badly used.

I was never a fan of Clough, he had all the pace of a slug towing a caravan. He was just not quite good enough for us quality wise. Not far off, but that step down in class that saw us drop away from being a dominant force.

As for Leonhardsen, he was just a workhorse with no real quality at all from what I saw. Nowhere near good enough and was a poor buy.}

05 Jul 2017 16:29:48
I used to think Titi Camara was good and underused.

05 Jul 2017 16:51:41
Goes to show how much of a poor manager and coach Ged was.

05 Jul 2017 17:09:17
The most underused and wasted player we signed had to be Jari Litmanen. Loved that guy and was so happy when we signed him but was hardly played given his calibure and skill.

05 Jul 2017 17:16:47
My auntie started screaming Patrick when we seem him in Southport and made me grab his autograph. He was very kind and polite though and even give her a kiss.

05 Jul 2017 17:16:47
My auntie started screaming Patrick when we seem him in Southport and made me grab his ass. He was very kind and polite though and even give her a kiss.

05 Jul 2017 20:26:28
I remember listening to the radio during the matches just to hear the commentators say "berger shot"

05 Jul 2017 20:31:15
Ged. Who won 5 trophys in a season?

Gerrard also puts a lot of his career down to him. like taking him and his family for a meal and telling hin how he had to live his life as a professional. Maybe without that chat gerrard would of done everything he did.

06 Jul 2017 04:00:18
Thanks for the reply Ed, always thought Berger was wasted being pushed out wide. liked him in the centre. you're right about Clough great talent but didn't improve with us and always seemed to fall a little short. oyvind I don't remember much about other than he used to score loads at Wimbledon but nothing for us!

{Ed001's Note - Berger was defo better centre, we never got him involved enough out wide and he was not a winger.

Clough I am not so sure he was a great talent. He was over rated imo. Good player, but not good enough. To me he was one of those overhyped because they were English players.

As for Leo, he was just not good enough to deal with a passing game, give him a breaking ball to run onto and smack and he was fine. Expect him to get involved in build up and make clever runs to create space and he was completely lost.}

05 Jul 2017 15:31:57
Anyone know of any news in big Emre's contract? And if he doesn't sign are we likely to sell him this summer? I have to say I hope not as I think he could become an important player for us.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

05 Jul 2017 17:03:30
Honestly think we have a real gem on our hands in him and need to do whatever it takes to keep him.

05 Jul 2017 20:19:39
According to an Ed reply a couple of days ago (025 I think) he is expected to sign his new deal when he's back at the club in a few days.

{Ed025's Note - i never put a time frame on it zed, just that he is expected to sign mate..

05 Jul 2017 21:38:08
Ah OK, thanks Ed025.

Z.

05 Jul 2017 14:59:48
Hi Ed's why was my mammana post removed? Thanks.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - It attracted abuse.}

05 Jul 2017 15:38:06
Ahh the usual knuckle draggers yhen. I hope that ain't been giving you a hard time because there is a lot of decent fans who appreciate the work you all do so big thanks and hope you're enjoying the sunshine.

{Ed002's Note - Most have gone now thanks.}

05 Jul 2017 16:52:47
Sorry, Ed. We support you.

{Ed002's Note - I know, you are very sweet.}

05 Jul 2017 17:54:15
I'll join the train why not.
Ed02, if it weren't for you and your amazing knowledge, I'd have far less knowledge. And knowledge is power.
I do however plan to take over the world with said power.
I'll honour you in my speech.

{Ed002's Note - You need to harness and control magnetism as I do Dave - that is where the real power comes from.}

05 Jul 2017 14:35:27
Sometimes I see posters request your thoughts on previous players, I always find the views really interesting.

Not sure if anyone has asked before, but could you give your thoughts on Glenn Hysen. Cheers 001.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - to be honest I only vaguely remember him and his grey streak throwing his hand up for no reason to commit a stupid handball and give away a penalty. He does not really stick in my head for anything other than that, sorry.}

05 Jul 2017 15:23:11
How about Richard Money, Ed? I had him in my Panini '81 sticker collection but can't remember seeing him play.

{Ed001's Note - I don't remember him at all either.}

05 Jul 2017 16:08:18
Ah ye, Dick money from St mirren remember watching him at dens Park in the 80s whilst playing footy up there.

05 Jul 2017 20:20:44
Many establishments in Amsterdam will part you from your Dick Money faster than you can say reefer.

05 Jul 2017 13:44:40
I remember reading on the Chelsea page a month or 2 ago that Kurt Zouma is available. Wonder if he'd be a decent alternative to VVD.

Believable5 Unbelievable3

05 Jul 2017 14:14:31
Someone mentioned him the other day. Before his injury I thought he was a beats of a defender. Would be great if he could get back to that level but doubt Chelsea would see him to us.

{Ed002's Note - Everton has shown no interest in the player.}

05 Jul 2017 14:57:35
This is the Liverpool page.

05 Jul 2017 16:54:13
He's coming back from a nasty injury, just like a certain Joe Gomez so I don't see what would have been the point of signing such a player.

05 Jul 2017 12:52:02
Just a thought but with us looking for a CB if neither VVD or koulibaly came in would anybody take Zouma on loan? With the view to buying him? Just seen an article sayin he wants to go on loan, the guy is quick, strong and good defensively. Probably an upgrade on Lovren imo.

Believable4 Unbelievable2

05 Jul 2017 13:42:52
I don't rate Zouma personally but a loan to buy could be worth the risk. If he flops, Lovren and Matip are still alright for another season.

05 Jul 2017 16:55:29
He's coming back from injury just like Joe Gomez so I don't see the point of signing such a player while not giving ours (with the same issues) a chance.

05 Jul 2017 12:15:27
To break away from the usual banter.

Just seen a piece on Sami Hyypia on lfctv. WHAT AN ABSOLUTE PLAYER!

And he cost 2mil - wrap your heads around that?!

Stephane Henchoz was one hell of a player too. Back four of babbel, Sami, henchoz and carra - not sure we'll see a back 4 as solid as that again for quite some time.

Believable6 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - great player 87, if he was playing today he would be worth £70m, mind you liverpool would probably offer £10m.. :)

05 Jul 2017 12:47:35
And end up paying 100m.

05 Jul 2017 12:48:03
Henchoz wasn't great mate. Hypia was fantastic though. I was in the kop at his last game. We haven't replaced him yet. Although matip looks good so far.

05 Jul 2017 12:53:53
Isn't it rumoured he was signed after a fan recommended him in a pub?

05 Jul 2017 12:34:49
Sami was excellent but he was also slow which means the system arafa played suited him. He would be brutally exposed under Klopp!

05 Jul 2017 12:36:32
Wrong ed025, the club would first try to tap him up and once when they are successful would bid £10m to piss everyone off!

{Ed025's Note - i forgot about that shayan.. :)

05 Jul 2017 14:18:58
Harry, if hyypia was still playing you'd be moaning why klopp hadn't paid 60 mil to sort out the defensive issues!

05 Jul 2017 14:20:02
What a fantastic set of names. When you compare them to our current line-up, it's depressing lol.

05 Jul 2017 15:45:37
Koeman and John Terry were slow but made up for it due to there excellent positional awareness. I recall koeman saying he would be disappointed if he had to make a slide tackle as he would be wrong positionally.

05 Jul 2017 16:24:53
Pace is Harry.

It's helpful but not a necessity if you know where to stand and read the game well.

Pace gets you out of trouble when you're caught out of position.

05 Jul 2017 16:59:33
CB's with a footballing brain, tactical intelligence, great anticipation and awareness are now a dying (if not a dead) breed. Players like Hyppia, Maldini, Henchoz, Babbel, Stefan Helmer, Jeurgen Kholer, Laurent Blanc and the list goes on, would lay waste to the CB's of today as these guys were not just great CB's, they were literally coaches on the pitch, doing all the organizing so the coach did not have to do much as these players were the extension of their managers.

05 Jul 2017 19:06:50
I've always said it. If you're a very good centre half, you don't need pace.

05 Jul 2017 10:59:42
Shoot me if this is a stupid question.

Badstuber is now a free agent.

Would he be a last minute target should Gomez go on loan and Sakho be sold (presuming we do not bring someone in before hand)? Or does his injury history make this a complete no go?

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed025's Note - wheres my gun?.. :)

05 Jul 2017 11:29:33
He's a free agent for a reason. He has been plagued by injuries his whole career. There was a time he did not play for close to two years and was still called up to the national team by Low (who is loyal to some of his players like he was to Klose even tho, he couldn't get a game at Bayern) . I would stay well clear of him.

05 Jul 2017 11:47:32
He was fit for the second half of last season and loaned out to schalke and he didn't even played there.

German media reported that he will probally go to Swansea.

05 Jul 2017 13:19:16
Thought as much, but couldn't see much on the search since last year.

Thanks Ed / Brussels / Crammie.

05 Jul 2017 14:21:16
BR exactly mate.

05 Jul 2017 10:55:39
Hi Eds hope you are all well.

I have been reading a lot of your comments re tapping up and the rules associated with when a club can speak with the agent and or the player.

Are there any players who don't have agents and therefore represent themselves and if so what are the rules surrounding them?

Thanks in advance.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - not in the top echelon robbie..

05 Jul 2017 13:51:27
Paul Scholes would have been the last top top player in the Prem without an agent right?

05 Jul 2017 14:02:58
I actually asked this a few years ago. Ed002 mentioned that Nikolas Anelka didn't have an agent.

05 Jul 2017 07:59:26
Emmanuel Mammana is the latest LB rumour from the Daily Excress.
He plays for Olympic Mayonnaise.
He salad from Argentina.
Lettuce hope he's as cool as a cucumber.

Believable8 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - good stuff clay.. :)

05 Jul 2017 08:29:16
Ed025: Stop egging me on.

{Ed025's Note - you certainly know your onions clay and i know you have enough on your plate so i will mate.. :)

05 Jul 2017 08:54:53
1. Primary CB, Secondary RB
2. He plays for Lyon

Also interesting fact: He has been nominated for the Golden boy award last season.

05 Jul 2017 09:53:18
Golden Boy award? Does that go to the best apple-polisher?

05 Jul 2017 10:17:03
Voronin: im not sure if your sarcstic or not but it is the award for the best player/ s under 21 i think. Not sure about the age but Sanchez from Bayern won it if i remember it correctly.

05 Jul 2017 11:22:20
Crammie, really?

Are you actually taking this thread seriously? The guy made a pun about cress! 😂.

05 Jul 2017 11:56:35
Forgot about the original Post and therefore didn't really saw the context of the pun. 😂

But to be fair i was right though. Sanches did win it (wasnt sure and it bothered me) . 😂.

05 Jul 2017 13:35:25
MK. Was it cress that he meant? I first thought it was more on excretion.

05 Jul 2017 19:23:38
I carrot see the deal happening mate.

05 Jul 2017 19:45:08
@Crammie
You mean he doesn't play for Olympic Mayonnaise?
That banana skin has put me in a right old jam.

06 Jul 2017 00:01:11
Clay, stop. You are putting Crammie's head in a pickle 😂.

05 Jul 2017 07:34:55
Just thought what we haven't seen for a while is some posts being edited in a funny way by the eds im sure ed25 could have some fun with it lol.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - im always game walton, i dont really do serious mate.. :)

05 Jul 2017 11:23:30
Everton fans are good at turning everything into a joke 😉 it's a protective reflection technique!

Love you, 25 😁.

{Ed025's Note - being one for 59 years i have to tell you MK...it beats the crap out of walking around with a face like a smacked arse mate.. :)

05 Jul 2017 12:41:41
I am an owl as you can see from my picture. We can't smile.

05 Jul 2017 19:34:29
He is a big hit on the Arsenal page 😎. He is like their own 😄.

05 Jul 2017 06:29:00
Anyone else get the feeling that something is going happen soon? It's been quite for nearly two weeks now and Liverpool have a habit of signing players that no one has linked us to. Also, Klopp likes to get his business done early as he appreciates pre season more than most.

Believable6 Unbelievable3

04 Jul 2017 23:30:43
Ed01 do you think Klopp would leave if we did not get the players that everyone saying he has approached.

Believable1 Unbelievable2

{Ed001's Note - no.}

05 Jul 2017 06:01:27
I doubt Klopp would throw a strop just because we could not get our first choice targets over financial matters. He knew this when he walked into the job that LFC do not have the spending prowess of Europe's elite and improving the current set of players would be his main priority.

05 Jul 2017 06:56:43
Where has money come in between now? We have paid a record money for Salah much much more than what we would potentially pay for Brandt! Naby Kieta will cost us at least £50 mill. How much more money does he need?

05 Jul 2017 07:00:10
Why would he leave, exactly? Conte is not getting his first choice CB's for two straight summer windows and had to settle for Luiz lasts summer and now, Ruddiger. You don't see him trying to leave? Who's fault is it that Sessegnon, VVD and Keita are not coming? It is cos of our useless habit of tapping players up which infuriates other clubs so if he wants to leave cos he did not get his first choice targets then, he and the club should look in the mirror for who to blame.

05 Jul 2017 08:33:32
I wish we could 'settle' for a Luiz type of player. Instead we're settling for the likes of Robertson.

05 Jul 2017 11:30:59
To each his own, Teabag.

05 Jul 2017 14:23:48
Indeed mate.
