Just like to say to waro there's been a good few posts about the owners i haven't agreed with you on, but this pre season your posts have been spot on. Just wanted to ask if your views have changed at all with the owners bringing in klopp.

Think the meds are working at last.

06 Aug 2016 08:54:45
Morning waltonred, not really mate. Klopp is the only thing they've gotten correct since they arrived, I think they'll be moving on soon with a massive profit and they won't care who they sell to either which is a worry, just hope the premier league owner's test is ridged and we don't get lumbered with more venture capitalists.

06 Aug 2016 09:21:24
I slightly disagree there mate, I feel Buisness owners of their callibur that buy and sell a lot of Buisnesses, they pride the whole Buisness package and buy new with the ideas and examples of we buy- improve then sell on a more complete package to a long term owner. That's why people sell to them in the first place. As they have profits and assests in high regards.

06 Aug 2016 11:21:07
I would agree pretty much with Waro. The owners inability to get the major apponitments right has had more affect on Liverpool being where they are than any thing else at the club.

06 Aug 2016 12:26:37
I agree in part, Waro but I disagree with you saying that Klopp is the only thing they've gotten right. I don't know everything going on behind the scenes neither do you hence, we can only go by what the Ed's tell us. Therefore, the owners have their issues and they need to make the right appointments in critical areas. However, they have gotten many things done. They've widened Anfield, made us more profitable on the commercial side, the academy is being revamped under Klopp, and so on. Maybe Ed01 can help here.

06 Aug 2016 15:52:39
I think they have done well. Waro. why don't u elaborate on why you feel they have been poor? I think u would moan whoever the owners were? It's a sad state of affairs and I for one am a little tired of your negativity regarding the owners. What type of owners do you want? Please explain what type of owners you would like and would make u happy? I feel like your living in a dream world where people don't make profits etc. looking forward to your reply.

Okay, so that now leaves Ilori, Wisdom, Markovic, Luis Alberto, Benteke, Balotelli and Awoniyi to be moved on, through either loan or sales (based on my guessed departures) . If the above 7 players are moved on it'll leave a first team of 28 players. Considering we had a squad of 51 players in mid-June (when i last checked), I think Mr. Klopp and Co. deserve some appreciation for the slicing/ dicing work that was necessarily done. I think a squad size of 30 is perfect. And coincidentally we have two spots available for two left backs. Mr. Klopp, now let's move those 7 guys on, bring in at least one LB, and stop flirting with attacking midfielders. (I'm aware he's not the only one in the decision process, just addressing him as the figurative head of the footbal team) . (I purposely did not include Brannagan and Lucas in the departures as per rumours, because I don't think they should leave. And I wish Ibe and Flanaghan were still with the team too) .

Believable2 Unbelievable13

05 Aug 2016 19:31:27
Why awoniyi?

05 Aug 2016 19:42:29
Because he's in the first team but can't get a work permit to play.

05 Aug 2016 22:15:36
Klopp makes all the decisions about transfers.

05 Aug 2016 16:40:53
Hi eds,

I know previous posts suggest Hector might not be the best fit for us, or Klopp's style, or maybe you're not convinced by him in general.

Would you prefer if we took the risk of buying him, or stick with what we have? I really can't imagine he's a downgrade on Moreno or Milner in that role.

Believable3 Unbelievable5

{Ed001's Note - it really depends on if Klopp wants him or not. If he does then we should pay the money. If not, we should go add the left back he does want. Somehow we have to get an improvement in that position.}

06 Aug 2016 09:42:22
Really should have paid the 10 million for Chilwell if he was Klopp's first choice LB target. If Hector is a last resort option, that is 20 million for a back up choice. Another grand f**k up by the club's transfer people.

06 Aug 2016 12:28:59
Complete madness, Buzzer.

05 Aug 2016 18:39:39
Eds reds flannagan to Burnley - season loan- wouldve preferred him to be our left back- in the absence of a lb signing.

Believable9 Unbelievable13

05 Aug 2016 18:16:05
I know we need a new lb but please can we stop the repeat posts for a day about it.

Believable16 Unbelievable9

05 Aug 2016 19:08:32
or eds can we a have a page just for left back questions?

05 Aug 2016 21:44:43
Need it mate,

06 aug 2016 09:43:01
we need a new left back now!

05 Aug 2016 18:05:16
Good luck to Flanno on his season long loan to Burnley.

05 Aug 2016 17:44:22
Hi Eds, have we ever looked at Kim Jin-Su? Thanks.

Believable1 Unbelievable6

{Ed001's Note - I don't know sorry.}

05 Aug 2016 22:10:49
Isn't he a North Korean dictator?

06 Aug 2016 01:45:12
Irish politics, MK Dons and Korean leaders 😆.

06 Aug 2016 06:15:21
I don't have any inside knowledge but our media loves to link our players to big teams in Europe, especially Premier League. There is no news here linking him to Liverpool though.

05 Aug 2016 17:21:19
Ed1, your thoughts on Ojo and what he has todo too keep a first team spot.

Believable2 Unbelievable3

{Ed001's Note - I would say play well, but, at his age, it is better to take them out of the line up a fair bit to keep them hungry.}

05 Aug 2016 18:43:02
What would you about Dele Alli? What do you think would have happened if he were not given playing time, both for the team and himself. And even the English team?
If Ojo I good enough he should be given enough games to prove himself.

{Ed001's Note - Dele Alli still needs to be given a reason to keep improving. It is a year or two down the line you need to think with players this age. Spurs need to add a signing to fight him for his place, or risk him becoming too settled.}

05 Aug 2016 17:02:35
Club still trying to move on wisdom llori l. alberto balo benteke . maybe list . clyne Lucas Marko.

Believable3 Unbelievable5

05 Aug 2016 15:53:58
Seems like Klopp has played into the hands of the agent again with benteke ed002.

Believable2 Unbelievable13

05 Aug 2016 16:08:02
Don't blame Klopp, blame the club for enabling it.

{Ed041's Note - why can't klopp speak for himself?

05 Aug 2016 16:26:12
Could be sending a message to the club on this one. I think he may be saying stop messing around for the asking price and let the player continue his career elsewhere.

05 Aug 2016 16:28:05
Yes, he has. I just think he is too sincere and does know when to put a filter on his comments. Hopefully, he`ll learn.

05 Aug 2016 17:02:12
Managers should avoid commenting on transfers especially speculations. What was Klopp talking about Pogba and his price?

05 Aug 2016 18:29:26
Klopp said nothing wrong, he said if a club wants to buy a payer from us then they have to pay the asking price which is absolutely correct.

If people ask stupid questions they will get stupid answers.

Klopp has always been like this, there is no need to change it for the English press. I respect the Eds but in this regard I couldn't care less what they think.

He is our manager and I think he is an excellent coach. let's not judge him on press conferences!

05 Aug 2016 23:11:01
Absolutely couldn't agree more with pankaj.

06 Aug 2016 03:33:28
Ed041, after his public comments about Balotelli, the club should have told Klopp not to say anything like that again if they didn't like it. The fact that he has gone off and now done it with Benteke suggests to me that the club really aren't fussed over whether he makes those public comments or not. If they told him to stop it, I'm sure he would have followed orders.

05 Aug 2016 14:36:30
Reminder that The Correct Score Competition starts this weekend predictions need to be in by midnight tonight.

Oh Shabba Ranks! I missed it!
I think I would have had a good chance in this comp too. 😠.

{Ed007's Note - It goes on all season. Get tore in next week and you'll make up ground if you make sure you do it every week.}

05 Aug 2016 14:20:39
Best wishes to Chris Kirkland.

Believable8 Unbelievable1

05 Aug 2016 15:06:54
Great supporting words from Bury too - good to see that can still exist in modern football!

05 Aug 2016 18:32:35
Sincere Best Wishes to Chris Kirkland and his family.
God Bless them.

05 Aug 2016 13:47:50
Posted earlier ed1 but not sure it posted because my wifi is playing up.

Is Milner our first choice left back now we've failed miserably to get another?

Would you think, pending any mental last minute buys, that we're done in the transfer market now?

Thanks.

Believable1 Unbelievable4

{Ed002's Note - Read the posts - this has been done to death - asking the same question over and over is a complete waste of time.}

05 Aug 2016 16:28:47
We are still trying for an LB.

05 Aug 2016 11:23:08
Hi Ed's just looking at the amount attacking options we have do you think any will leave by the first game of the season?

Believable0 Unbelievable4

{Ed002's Note - I cannot sensible give dates on when transfers will be completed. It is a waste of time asking such questions.}

05 Aug 2016 10:50:49
Hi Eds/ Reds!

Been a couple of days since i was on this site as I've been laid up in hospital nothing serious just my hand got mangled by some stray dog but there were kids playing on the street so it had to go! i'm ok had an op yesterday it went well i think i'm still bandaged up.

05 Aug 2016 18:46:05
Can't wait! I know it's not a competitive game but I'm craving the buzz of the crowd.
I can feel a sore throat coming on but it's not going to stop me!

05 Aug 2016 21:01:54
I'm raring to go. After the BT fiasco and no Anfield tickets I'm pleased to get tickets for our second home (that's right you read it right - that's what we used to call it for those younger fans)

06 Aug 2016 00:40:30
G1dgo, I think you mean 'Anfield South'?!

Im looking forward to my visit too!

06 Aug 2016 01:48:00
I'll be there wearing my "Zeddicus" replica kit 😎.

06 Aug 2016 12:21:33
I'll keep an eye out for you, Mr Keague!

05 Aug 2016 09:24:23
Morning Eds
The LB situation I know it's been done to death but is it a case that we don't believe the players we have been supposily linked with are worth the price being asked by their clubs or is it the players themselves have little interest in joining us or is it the case that Chilwell was the only LB that we actually bid for . With us possibly ending up with a net spend of zero with potential players being sold should we not just go and pay the money for a solid proven LB anybody would be an improvement on Moreno .
Cheers Eds great site.

Believable0 Unbelievable5

{Ed001's Note - we tried for Amavi as well.}

05 Aug 2016 09:54:54
Chilwell was ready to join us except our board thought somethings different.

05 Aug 2016 10:30:18
Cheers Ed
So are our Amavi links dead in the water or is it a case that villa don't want to sell or we yet again won't pay the asking price? Cheers Ed thanks for the quick response.

{Ed002's Note - Nothing is happening with Amavi right now.}

05 Aug 2016 10:45:58
Can you imagine the fan meltdown if we sign two players from relegated teams?

05 Aug 2016 11:14:12
Firstly, there is a long way to go in this window.

Secondly, I have said before on these pages (so apologies for being boring) but it would be an absolute disgrace if the five-times European Champions start the new season without a left-back on the books.

Thirdly, Alberto Moreno, thoroughly nice guy, has a great dog, never has been, or ever will be, a left-back.

05 Aug 2016 12:02:44
Have to agree with Hjikle, Merono is a joke player who is going to cost us more and more points throughout the season when played although Milner gives 100% every game is coming towards the end of his career and should never be considered as a full back as he is too slow . I don't believe that Klopp will allow the window to close without addressing this situation although he likes to have his business done well before the season starts only time will tell . Fingers crossed it all works out but I do trust Klopp and I expect great things from him over the next couple of years.

05 Aug 2016 14:15:32
Guys I think we all need to calm down. I want a new LB as much as anyone but frankly while he's made some stupid mistakes, Moreno is still a LB, we still have Milner that can do a decent job there, we also have Flanno that played there in a near PL winning side and Gomez to return that everyone raved about when played there.

Am I happy we haven't signed a LB - no, could we have done better in our dealings with Chilwell - probably, are we still going to sign someone this window - possibly, are we definitely going to lose out on top 4 (or will a plague forever more be on our children's children) if we can't get something done this time - probably not.

Let's try chill a bit on the potential consequences and quit slagging off Moreno and others to the point of ignoring the good of what's been done in the last few months.

05 Aug 2016 16:33:03
Zimbo, we don`t have a LB if Moreno and Milner are our options. One is a midfielder. The other? No comment. Hence, we need a specialist at the position who can actually play the position the way it should be played and not a part-timer like Milner or Klavan (good player) or a hyper liability in Moreno. That is what is frustrating most of us or have many people forgotten how many goals Moreno cost us since he`s been here.

05 Aug 2016 17:23:39
And flanno just left on loan.

05 Aug 2016 18:54:59
I hope we have a plan. I understand the Flanno move as he does need to regain his fitness if he is to have any kind of career with us.
What I don't understand is why we don't seem to have any cover for our full backs. What if Clyne gets injured? Who will cover him? Is old Jimmy Milner going to play every game this season in various positions?

05 Aug 2016 08:34:40
Piotr Zielinski signs for Napoli according to SSN. Hope this isn't another one we will kick ourselves over not signing.

Believable1 Unbelievable15

05 Aug 2016 09:44:10
So we could have got Chilwell and zielinski, if we had dealt in the right way, for less than the price that was paid for wijnaldum?

05 Aug 2016 10:56:35
It would seem that way and they were our 1st choices. Oh well, nothing left to do other than hope wiji has a great season and all then new guys have a stormer!

05 Aug 2016 06:47:46
Imagine spending 70 million and still having Moreno at LB.

Believable13 Unbelievable10

05 Aug 2016 07:08:33
I know - it's shocking that the transfer window has shut and we can't sign anyone also!

05 Aug 2016 07:40:06
We haven't tho, we've got milner.

05 Aug 2016 08:01:49
Imagination comes to reality.
One word Shame!

05 Aug 2016 08:02:17
Some of the posts are embarrassing on here. We all know we need a LB as does Klopp. I'm sure we will sign someone when the right deal is presented. Still a significant period of time left in the current window.

05 Aug 2016 08:30:06
Its not really embarassing in fact this post paints a sorry picture. We have spent excessively already without addressing a gaping hole.

05 Aug 2016 08:30:21
Name a LB better than Moreno, who is available, that wants to come to us. It is not as straight forward as you might think. There are many factors that determine our transfers in and out. Unfortunately, the fans' impatience isn't one of them. Despite knowing more than Klopp and everyone else at LFC, we have to accept that we will be ignored.

05 Aug 2016 08:41:57
I still think we will get a LB, but could be dreaming. its not as if there still isn't plenty of time though.

05 Aug 2016 08:49:23
I posted last week that that I was told we wouldn't be signing anyone else and we are going with milner, so I think this talk of getting a left back is purely academic to be honest.

05 Aug 2016 09:35:04
I hope you're wrong Waro. Getting in an experienced left back like Héctor could be the difference between top four and another disappointing season. Milner and Moreno are not good enough, I'd rather start the season with Klavan there.

05 Aug 2016 09:41:43
The fact of the matter is we didn't adress our biggest worry first. And if all you guys are happy with that saying, aaah we have so much time left to buy more players waste more money (because our first choice who was the cheapest option is out the window now) maybe your happy to settle for mediocrity then, or happy other clubs will still see our buisness side as a joke. If my right front tyre is worn i won't go replacing my back left first.

05 Aug 2016 11:39:34
@Preso you are wrong. It is actually quite fortunate that signings aren't based on fans impatience 😄.

05 Aug 2016 06:17:19
United fan here, just checking preparation of all big clubs for new season. With Liverpool to play Barcelona tomorrow do u people expect Klopp to field his strongest starting line up and they play for 75+ minutes to fine tune for Arsenal game? or is it another pre season friendly?
I expect it is a good test for your defense against Messi and Suarez. Arsenal are close to playing style as Barca.

Believable4 Unbelievable7

05 Aug 2016 06:48:26
We have a friendly against Mainz immediately after Wembley. I expect Klopp to field a strong team which will feature against Arsenal.

05 Aug 2016 07:14:28
It's a pre-season friendly the purpose of which is match fitness. Perhaps 50% of the starting line-up for Arsenal will play.

05 Aug 2016 08:10:05
Whoever arranged this was on point. Testing our defence against MSN. But the question is what is our first team defensive pairing?

05 Aug 2016 08:35:35
They didn't arrange it to test against 'msn' lol. Neymar is at the Olympics and who knows how much the others will play. Besides the system they play is unlike anything we play in the league so not a great test anyway. It's about fitness and leave it at that. If we really want to test our defence then we should play stoke all pre season to learn how to defend set pieces!

05 Aug 2016 08:36:52
Keague, If u are a settled and stable team then it is a normal game for fitness but Liverpool bought many new players, testing how they fit in should also be considered apart from fitness i think. This applies to United, City and to a certain extent to Chelsea also. Arsenal and Spurs have a settled side I believe.

05 Aug 2016 08:53:20
Neymar is at the Olympics xpertoyin.

I'm going so I'm hoping both sides put strong teams out and I think we will arrange least, the mainz game I'm not so sure.

05 Aug 2016 09:24:45
I hope are best X11 play tomz and the the rest play Sunday.

05 Aug 2016 09:30:18
Can see klopp going with what he thinks is his starting 11 for arsenal against barca. At least I think it would make sense.

05 Aug 2016 09:38:38
Spurs scored the most goals from set pieces last season Leicester second, stoke were joint 16th and have been moving away from that long ball style for some time so perhaps playing them all pre season wouldn't help that much with set pieces.

05 Aug 2016 09:47:42
Week out from the season starting you want to have some combinations working. That's just natural phasing for any sport. Fitness still a priority for sure. But if that's the only thing at this stage then ya may have taken your eye off the ball.

05 Aug 2016 10:36:27
He may just play the ones who are least Jet Lagged.
Whenever I've flown home from the USA it always takes me 2 weeks to get over it. But then again. I'm not as fit as the players 😉.

05 Aug 2016 10:48:52
Jet lag is nothing to do with physical fitness. But players used to travelling often to different time zones for European games, internationals etc should be more resilient to it.

05 Aug 2016 11:59:24
For the poster who disagreed with my post, which part do you disagree with?

Neymar at the Olympics? Nah can't be that because he is.

About me going the game tomorrow? Nah can't be that because I am.

Hoping both sides put out strong sides? Nah can't be that, because I haven't given an opinion on whether they will or won't just hoping they do.

Not being sure if they will put a strong side out for the mainz game? Again can't be that because not being sure if they'll put a strong team out for that game isn't giving an opinion either way.

Wonder what part of that post and this post somebody will find disagreeable? Considering both were factual and neither had an opinion on anything, mmmmm interesting 🌞🌞⚽⚽🍺🍺👍👍👍.

05 Aug 2016 11:34:40
You asked our opinion m_m, I gave you mine, but I have no idea what tomorrow's line-up or the arsenals game will be.

05 Aug 2016 14:56:18
Sometimes it's just trolls waro, just ignore them. doesn't matter what you, Ron keague and MK post and you'll get people disagreeing with no reason. Even Harry gets a few totally unjustified in any way.

05 Aug 2016 15:16:20
I know swish, and I don't normally comment on this subject but find it a bit bizarre that people disagree when there was no opinion given on anything in particular in the post, so it must just be the name at the bottom! I think I'll get around 26 disagrees on this post (fingers crossed) hahaha 😂.

05 Aug 2016 21:06:48
Waro. Trolls come here just to disagree. I cannot imagine for the life of me why they waste their time though.

06 Aug 2016 00:44:20
Waro. I disagreed over excessive use of emojis. :-p.

05 Aug 2016 04:14:51
Odegaard linked today. How do people think this stuff up? What a horrible story.

Believable3 Unbelievable6

05 Aug 2016 07:11:05
Poor advisors who have ruined the chance for the kid.

He/ they had their chance, and now they've blown it.

No thanks.

05 Aug 2016 07:32:12
From what ed2 has said in the past, MO has brought any misfortune on himself. Got too big for his boots and was always going to be light years away from being ready for Madrid first 11.

05 Aug 2016 07:48:15
Hope he doesn't go the same way as Freddy adu.

05 Aug 2016 07:54:36
Terrible advisors, the kid needed foobaall and guidance so let's send him to a team that constantly buys big names for th sake of it and what few quality home grown talents do come through they usually sell off.

05 Aug 2016 07:54:41
Wow. Is that what modern football fans are?

Blaming a 16 YEAR OLD for being caught up in a transfer which was all about politics, sponsorship, agents and marketing.

He was badly misadvised. Offer any kid the chance to join Real Madrid and earn mega bucks and I guarantee you less than 10% turn it down. He needed the correct guidance and he didn't get it.

I honestly cannot believe we are blaming him for a decision he made whilst he should've been in school! His agent should take the stick for this, not a child.

{Ed001's Note - his dad, not agent.}

05 Aug 2016 08:03:09
At 16, He is driving a Ferrari. He knew exactly what he was doing moving to Real.

05 Aug 2016 08:16:24
Its the way of the world at the minute, it now comes down to the £££s. You see it all the time, young players getting paid a fortune and they are no where near the first team.

05 Aug 2016 08:36:49
That just make it even worse Ed! Shocking advice. It's potentially ruined his career.

05 Aug 2016 10:52:46
Potentially MK. But then again, he's not far off being set for life if he's sensible just by seeing out the contact he has there (and let's face it, if they don't extend the contact someone else will take him for a minimum of 2/ 3rds of his current wage) . Even if his career is a complete flop and he's back playing in his old league at 25, he'll have earned more than most of us will in our lives. I wish I could ruin my career that badly.

05 Aug 2016 11:13:12
I agree with MK. He was a school boy, how can he be blamed when Real Madrid offer him the world and his dad and advisors tell him to.

Blaming MO is ridiculous, the biggest decision he should be making at that age is where he wants to do his A levels for gods sake!

05 Aug 2016 12:48:37
because he could just knuckle down with real's B team in 2nd tier football but he thinks he's above that - that is his perception/ no one elses.

to say his career could be ruined is laughable - he's 17/ 18 with plenty of time to get it back on track IF he's happy to do the yards.

05 Aug 2016 04:09:49
Hi eds,

Our fellow redmen say defense is our main problem including migs.

But well what about attack.

Our clean sheets for last season was 11 i think which is one of the best in the league, what about attack.

You look at firminho who scored 10,. well he is at 19th ad per league standings.

What about our best attacking player coutinho. has he ever got into double figures with his stinct in premier league.

When we started last season i said goals are our priority. not even henderson, lallana, coutinho who are our regular midfielders so long did that.

But blame always go gor milner or migs. where they are better with contribution.

Also so many pissed with mane and wjandalum. well gigy is proven in dutch scored 11 for relegated side. which is better than our strikers and attacking midfielders.

If we can score some goals this season and don't leave too much gap in midfield and defense. we are winning plenty games.

Ynwa.

Besides watching goals are exciting.

It's pretty obvious we only had one fit striker for the most part of the season and he doesn't suit our style. If the strikers stay fit they wil be amongst our top scorers. Having 2 complete liabilities at the back in migs and Moreno gives the other teams a lift against us and every stupid mistake they make which costs us a goal just pulls the confidence of the team down. Even Stevie wonder can see those 2 probably cost us 25 points between them last year and are probably the only 2 players that showed zero improvement in their time at Liverpool or under klopp.

Second half of the season we scored at roughly 2 a game on average, so the low goals per person was largely due a poor first half of the season, switching lead strikers mid season (no-one getting a full season under their belt), various injuries and Benteke not fitting our system.

With Sturridge, Origi and Ings upfront and scoring midfielders behind then in Mane, Firmino, Wijnaldum etc. I think goals will flow if we get our setup right.

In the 2nd half of the season I'm pretty sure we were top 2 in goals scored?

That's stats about being second top scorers are irrelevant if (1) you can drive a bus through our midfield (2) have a left back who doesn't appear to have any brains (3) have a keeper who's fear of crosses puts Dracula to shame. As of today, we will start the season with all of those things still as issues.

Goals won't be the problem this season with sturridge, origi, ings, mane, wijnaldum,
Firmino, coutinho. It's both fullback positions which will be our downfall.

Franky "puts dracula to shame" that deserves an award.
