hey eds-N-reds

was just wondering if either of ed01 or ed02 knew how well Firmino is thought of within the brazil national team.

Believable1 Unbelievable2

{Ed007's Note - Neymar thinks he has a cute tushie.}

05 Sep 2017 00:02:55
As do I 👍.

{Ed007's Note - There's no shame in admitting that buddy.}

05 Sep 2017 00:36:25
I think he has lovely hair!

05 Sep 2017 01:42:54
I heard everyone likes him a lot, but his knock knock jokes are starting to get on everyone's tits.

05 Sep 2017 05:41:20
The ivories are something else

Id he visited Africab he'd probably be in danger of being poached.
and not by another club t1yoe poaching.

05 Sep 2017 07:31:43

Cheers Ron haha.

04 Sep 2017 22:50:11
Hi Ed's

Would be interestef to know your thoughts on some signings that did not go through.

R Mahrez - LCFC had set reasonable price on him and none of the top clubs showed interest than Roma.

He wanted specific club and they did not want him?

Is there any specific reason why clubs did not show or follow up with their interest?

Was the set price on higher side for PL player of the year recently?

Any other injury related reason or Attitude?

Funny thing we see OX sold at 35 or 40, Kyle walker at 40+ and no one took a chance with Mahrez.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - hes a very good player sami but a whole heap of trouble mate, most of the big clubs would not touch him with a barge pole because hes a sulker and a troublemaker, he was instrumental in the sacking of ranieri and performs when he feels like mate..

05 Sep 2017 01:37:57
Very unfortunate because he comes across like artist painting canvass with the ball while all others are hard grafters.

Tnx Ed25.

05 Sep 2017 04:09:19
I'm not sold on Mahrez, he's had one brilliant season in his career in amongst a bunch of average seasons. He's clearly a brilliant player on his day but I think he goes missing too often to succeed at a really big club.

05 Sep 2017 09:07:48
Mahrez's talent is not in question. Everything else, is.

04 Sep 2017 22:18:35
Harry you know you've been saying we should sign Hamsik for years?

We'll Henderson has a present for you! He's bringing him to Anfield in his back pocket, just for you!

Believable3 Unbelievable1

{Ed025's Note - you what???....mr anonymous lived up to his name yet again MK, "busy doing nothing" i just cant see what you lot seem to see in him mate..

04 Sep 2017 22:37:55
Yep - anonymous just like Makalele was at Real Madrid.

{Ed025's Note - dont mention jordan in the same breath as claude phil..

04 Sep 2017 22:45:29
He'd walk into your side 25 😉 come on, just admit it. He is a very good midfielder!

{Ed025's Note - hes not you know MK, my 2 brothers who are reds and the vast majority of reds i know say the same as me mate, you obviously see something we dont and thats fine its your opinion, i have been wrong before..1978 i think it was..

04 Sep 2017 22:53:07
We should let insomnia patients watch England football games.

They will sleep for a year. Such a boring game and Ox was looking like baddie in movies than a player.

Cheers.

{Ed025's Note - i hate internationals as well sami, complete waste of time..and to think they cancelled corrie for that..

04 Sep 2017 22:53:52
Have you actually just compared Henderson to Claude Makalele?

{Ed025's Note - he did stand, but we expect him to be re-captured very shortly mate..

04 Sep 2017 23:00:41
I have been pro Henderson for quite a while but he seems to be off the pace right now. I'd play Can as DM over Henderson at the moment.

04 Sep 2017 23:26:51
Was at the game tonight, can safely say from where I was sitting, Henderson was the best player on the park with the angles of his passes and his closing down the space in midfield.

{Ed025's Note - your a liverpool fan looking through red tinted glasses sami and thats fine by me mate.

04 Sep 2017 23:29:45
Henderson stood out as England's best midfielder today, he was everywhere making stuff happen.

{Ed025's Note - oh yeah he was magnificent..i forgot about that mate..

04 Sep 2017 23:33:55
Amrit you must be joking and Ed25 you have a blind spot when it comes to Hendo. You are so conditioned to saying how bad he is you miss all of the good things he does. He was man of the match for me tonight. First half they were all awful. Second half when we started pressing he was anticipating where passes were going and pressing early, forcing errors and winning the ball back. He was the only England player that played intelligent passes through the lines setting us on the attack. He was disciplined, intelligent and led by example.

I do hate judging any player in England games because that shirt is like a huge weight on their shoulders but second half tonight I thought Hendo was outstanding.

{Ed025's Note - i must have been watching a different game mate..

04 Sep 2017 23:51:45
Dunno about best player on the field but he was close to it. You very rarely see Hendo giving the ball away. He does the basics excellently and we all know you need this type of player in your team. I thought he was given a bit more freedom to attack with dier on the pitch and he was in just about everything England did well tonight. Rash ford was fantastic, hope the country doesn't pile too much pressure on the lad too soon. Thought Ali was average again. Never seen him play that we'll for england (missed the Germany game that people say he was good in)

Weird seeing people on here knocking the England captain after a good performance and a win just coz he doesn't happen to play for the club you support? Thought the ox showed promise with his explosive pace I just hope he starts making the right choices and that final ball gets a bit more consistent

Anyone else think raheem sterling missed his calling as a balet dancer. He'd be perfect for Swan Lake!

05 Sep 2017 00:07:55
I think you're all joking being the best player today would still put you on a 5/ 10.
Cahill and dier getting games when they've barely payed this season and not that good is silly, Walker again why? Hart in goal is a joke. Rashford is young and played well for his club but he does one good thing and then thinks he can take on the world, he can't but that will come with maturity, Ox is in the squad somehow? I think he'll be great for us but let's face t he's been poor thus far this season. Kane not scored in the league yet but starts every England game.
I think I'll take my citalopram now

Now that's my rant over, I appreciate the best players will always get into the team but is it just me who thinks maybe people (players included) would care more if we played those in form, I'm not saying omit people like Kane from the squad as they are quality but give the people who are actually performing more of a chance andnotjust pick players based i who they are/ who they play for.

05 Sep 2017 00:20:47
Ings is exactly right. Too often we see England players so afraid of putting a foot wrong that they don't put a foot in at all. The press is at fault for this and I hate their fickle attitude. Hendo was the man that was prepared to risk a cutting pass tonight. He is a brilliant csptain and an intelligent footballer. The fact he is now England csptain should put to bed all this "managers son" talk with liverpool fans who seem to think he is on the pitch for anything other than merit. It makes me laugh. We are at the top did of English football, there is sooooo much money involved and klopp needs results to keep his job and people think he picks Hendo as his cap, not because he is an exemplary footballer and person, but because the manager just likes his personality or his smile. or . I dunno. Why do these people think klopp picks him if not for his skill and leadership qualities?

05 Sep 2017 01:26:36
I don't think Hendo is at same level as Makalele but its the nature of their role that if they have a good match they won't be figuring in highlight reels. So it would be common for most people to view them as anonymous.

05 Sep 2017 05:47:22
Walker was my motm Quality.

05 Sep 2017 06:21:06
Henderson is a good ball winner and always been one. That is what you refer when you say " he was everywhere " etc etc. he is not a creator and never will be one!
I like Hendo but don't give like this ". He is the best in ages. " excuse. I ll happily go with ED025 ( my boy ) 😎😎😎.

04 Sep 2017 23:51:36
You just can't see the truth through your blue tinted glasses Ed. Any coach or manager at the top level would tell you just how important Hendo is and just how difficult his role is. It does make me laugh when people slate him he's the captain of one of the worlds biggest clubs and of the most supported international team in world football. You don't get there if you're not a good player. Or maybe his detractors know more than the guys that are payed millions to make these decisions? Along with all of their coaching staff?

{Ed025's Note - its no use me saying hes a great player if i dont think so though ings, you obviously see something i dont mate..

05 Sep 2017 06:01:52
He can be slated as much as you want ed025 but facts are LFC always, ALWAYS perform better when he's in the team. He's been good enough for pro club and international managers who I dare say will know better than either of us and part of a midfield that walks all over Everton's I'm afraid mate, no disrespect but the table doesn't lie. That said LFC fans who know what Hendo brings to the table will accuse ed025 of having blue tinted glasses, and ed025 will accuse us of having red tinted glasses so this entire thread is pointless. We will not agree so what's the point?

{Ed025's Note - its just banter while we wait for the prem to resume westwood, and breaks the monotony of watching crap internationals mate..

05 Sep 2017 06:52:16
Yes, go with him to Woodison and enjoy watching Funes Mori, McCarthy and Mirallas :)

{Ed025's Note - they cant get in our side MK..

05 Sep 2017 07:14:10
Henderson is no Makalele or Gilberto when he played the holding role for Arsenal.

But Henderson is affective in our Liverpool side, you actually need to watch him live to appreciate the work he does for the team.

My biggest criticism is his constant sideways passing which is s shame because he has the ability to pick a pass.

05 Sep 2017 13:50:17
It's very difficult to penetrate z deep and tight defence with out being called offside. The way you make space for your strikers is to switch the ball from side to side. This drags the defenders toward the ball and opens up the defensive line. It also wears your opponent down as they have to keep moving towards the ball while your team mates are simply receiving the ball and moving it on. Hendo does this to devastating effect. They tire out the opposition then go for the kill with the pace of Mane and salah etc. He is purr class. His speed rarely get mentioned but I think he came second in liverpool beep challenge behind mane. Salah can't have been at the club then I'm guessing. He tackles well too and is on the opposition before they even have a chance to think about thinking. He does this for 90 minutes too by the way. I'm guessing his missus is a happy girl because his stamina is very high. Liverpool win more matches when Jordan Henderson is in the team. It's that simple. Liverpool have some very very good players and Hendo is one of them. Well in fact he is their captain. And what is promising for liverpool fans is the fact he is getting better. I think he will really peak in the next three/ four years.

05 Sep 2017 07:40:29
Fair nuff! I don't even bother watching internationals anymore so I can't even comment on Hendo's performance in that game. I'll watch some YouTube and base my arguments from that! 😉.

{Ed025's Note - fair enough mate..

05 Sep 2017 09:10:23
Ed25, Hamsik is a great player regardless of anyone else (LFC fan or not) tells you. None of your midfielders are a speck on him and I would love him at Anfield, too.

{Ed025's Note - i think your going over the top bingo, hes a decent enough player but what i have seen of him hes hardly world class mate..

04 Sep 2017 20:07:37
Hi eds, hope you're feeling a lot better now the window is shut lol I was just wondering with Liverpool signing 2 more CMs in Ox and Kieta, where does this leave Grujic? Will he get a chance or will he be eventually sold?

Many thanks

Henlow red.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Grujic is in the fringe area for now. He is a player who clubs thought might step ahead and make a name for himself but remain at LFC on the fringes.}

05 Sep 2017 01:48:25
Not sure what Klopp saw in OX when he played against Dortmund that he wanted him so desparately.

Grujic has been rotting for 2 yrs now instead of playing regularly but it was his choice to come here.

Like the look of Grujic but feel he chose to move at the wrong time.

Cheers.

04 Sep 2017 20:43:29
For people who aren't aware of it, Clyne has had a back problem since he signed for Liverpool. He cannot play at the back lol.

Believable11 Unbelievable1

{Ed025's Note - nice one HL..

04 Sep 2017 21:44:37
Harsh there aren't ya, he did a job for us last season helped us get in top 4, played a lot of games was solid if not spectacular going forward, hahaha like the shout though quality.

04 Sep 2017 20:41:51
How is Kyle Walker a footballer is beyond me! Jesus! An international full back!

Believable6 Unbelievable1

04 Sep 2017 21:04:03
Jesus is a striker 🤝.

{Ed025's Note - nice one ron..

04 Sep 2017 21:27:49
More of a winger. He can nail a cross 😎.

{Ed025's Note - love that bledd..

04 Sep 2017 21:39:47
Cheers Ed was worried the humour was too subtle 😂.

{Ed025's Note - no mate..

04 Sep 2017 22:03:11
I thought dier was mostly awful tonight also. Nice goal, two good passes as well. Apart from that he had many sloppy poorly weighted passes, bad positioning, and some absolutely worthless fouls. Very lucky to avoid too bookings.

05 Sep 2017 02:16:09
Everyone looks awful in an England shirt. Difficult to judge someone when playing for the national team so I will reserve judgement on AOC as he was awful for England but could turn out half decent for LFC.

04 Sep 2017 20:14:58
The Ox has been so poor for England in these games. His confidence looks shot.

I hope Klopp can rebuild him. Wenger has really let a crop of talented young players rot.

Believable5 Unbelievable7

{Ed025's Note - he makes worse decisions than kim jong un..

04 Sep 2017 20:58:19
Trust me, he's avarage at best.
Can't believe we got £35m for him.

04 Sep 2017 21:13:39
Potentially £40m I think Dags. Daylight robbery that mate.

04 Sep 2017 21:29:43
if he gets the winner against city saturday we'll all be saying worth every penny 😊.

04 Sep 2017 21:35:06
Any truth that Kim Jong is koemans adviser ed25.

04 Sep 2017 21:37:08
If he gets games against the big teams I would be very surprised.

04 Sep 2017 21:37:39
I hope Klopp rebuilds Lazar Markovic ( genuine pace and decent skill ) once Europe's best young player! Chamberlin is below Markovic in the pecking order for me! I can understand why club wanted £16 mill for Markovic!

04 Sep 2017 21:47:59
For god's sake he hasn't kicked a ball for us yet and already you lot are whining about him call yourself supporters.

04 Sep 2017 22:06:18
I thought he did ok tonight. He showed power, pace, direct running. The problem for all England players was a lack of options in advanced areas so they ended up trying to shoot. Looking at Ox tonight he'll fit well in our system and I for one am happy to have him at the club.

{Ed025's Note - take off them red specs ings he was bloody awful, not much around him though but lets not tell lies mate..

04 Sep 2017 22:10:37
Hard to judge in an England system so dull and contrasting to ours. Saying that, he was very wasteful.

{Ed025's Note - he has speed and strength a plenty rbbb, its a pity hes got the brains of a rocking horse really mate..

05 Sep 2017 05:29:40
Ed025 - Sounds like he would be an upgrade on Rooney then. Maybe you blues should try for him next transfer period?

{Ed025's Note - im not exactly waynes best mate phil but i think his trophy haul and records speak for themselves mate..

04 Sep 2017 19:48:21
Amazed how much England miss Lallana when he's injured. More than we do I think!

Believable7 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - 2 liverpool overrated players is quite enough thank you..

04 Sep 2017 22:08:33
Ha! He's worth 10 Sigurdssons ed and about 100 Rooneys! Most Everton players aren't fit to clean his boots!

{Ed025's Note - hes not you know ings, hes ok dont get me wrong but hes a bit lightweight and drifts in and out of games, you have a good midfield anyway so he is not missed...plus him ox and wiji can keep each other company on the bench..

04 Sep 2017 22:37:13
I usually agree with you Ed025 and feel you are very fair in you're opinion. But on this occasion I don't. Lallana is technically easily England's best player able to use both feet demands the ball in tight areas. Every England supporter I know says he's been there best player by far the past year. And you can see how they struggle without him. A class player who also works so hard for the team. Just pity about injuries.

{Ed025's Note - hes not a bad player at all Z99, just a bit wimpy for me..

05 Sep 2017 07:44:26
Lallana isn’t fit enough to lace his own boots at the minute to be fair.

04 Sep 2017 18:23:55
Pele says Neymar had to leave Barcelona to get out of Messi's shadow. And here is me thinking he left for 0.5 million per week!

Begs the question why Coutinho is desperate to leave and to get in his shadow?

Believable16 Unbelievable0

04 Sep 2017 19:28:25
Isn't it 700k a week? Plus a whole load of other stuff on top?

04 Sep 2017 19:29:11
Besides it's not hard to get out of messis shadow he's only little.

04 Sep 2017 20:06:18
As a midfielder having messi and Suarez in front of you for movement and finishing your chances will cover you in glory, as a wide forward in naymar he wants the chances himself, makes perfect sense tbh.

04 Sep 2017 20:14:32
People are aware that it is possible for both scenarios to be true, right?

04 Sep 2017 20:20:39
Barca wanted Verratti, PSG signed Neymar to play alongside Verratti lol!

04 Sep 2017 20:52:47
This why eds don't talk about money 😉.

04 Sep 2017 17:51:46
Reds I need some help. I'm in Vegas, where will show the Liverpool/ City game here.
It's on at 4am but I can't miss it, anybody?

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - try the MGM grand sports bar fowler, i watched a game there a few years back mate..

04 Sep 2017 18:10:21
Loads of places will have it on.

04 Sep 2017 18:15:48
Try flying back to England and watching it in your local. I'll take your place in Vegas!

04 Sep 2017 18:09:07
Ed25 Vegas one of your best experiences in life?

{Ed025's Note - yeah MR, i loved it mate, had a great time there though it has gone very expensive in the past few years, stayed at the luxor first time then the bellagio, the hotels on the strip are amazing but also freemont street in the old town is a must go place..

04 Sep 2017 18:10:10
That's a good shout from Ed25. Massive screens too.

04 Sep 2017 18:38:21
Crown and Anchor on Tropicana.

04 Sep 2017 18:39:12
All the casino bars will have it on. If they don't tell them and they'll oblige.

04 Sep 2017 18:52:06
If you want to save some money, try the motel around the corner from the MGM (if it is still there), its only 50m from the strip. You can pay to use the pool of the nice hotels for the day if you want to, and obviously go in to gamble etc. So if it's just clean digs you are looking for it could save you loads.

04 Sep 2017 19:05:07
Are u from yorkshire 5 Gold.

{Ed025's Note - scotland is my guess.. :)

04 Sep 2017 19:09:12
Stopped at Hard rock hotel this year when we did Route 66 great place brother did well on machines also.

04 Sep 2017 19:35:31
There will be loads of places showing it. But The Mirage has a great area to watch sports with a large cinema like screen. I watched the the 7-1 Brazil game there.

04 Sep 2017 19:42:06
I was born in Yorkshire and live on the border now, how did you guess? 😉.

04 Sep 2017 20:15:32
Been to the MGM, Ed. Decadent does not even begin to describe the place.

{Ed025's Note - its great bingo, and not a bloody kid in sight..yahooo..

04 Sep 2017 20:48:44
Go to Hooters, if the games not going well there's other things to look at.

{Ed025's Note - alax ferguson might be there..

04 Sep 2017 21:18:19
Lots of grannies for Roo at the slot machines, eh Ed25?

{Ed025's Note - they love it bingo, im a roulette man myself though mate..

04 Sep 2017 21:48:56
For a pub environment go to the pub at back of the Monte Carlo. go straight through casino and head for the tram. you'll see it, you can't miss it.

04 Sep 2017 22:01:46
Steer clear of Spearmint Rhino - on the face of it it's tits and bum but was as dodgy as hell.

As for the football, should be plenty of bars showing it. I recall watching Betis v Liverpool in a champions league group game in one of the bars in the airport.

Have a great time - if you stay in the tourist areas you'll have a great time.

05 Sep 2017 00:36:40
Nine fine Irishmen in NYNY may have it on. Failing that, the Beerhaus also might. The sports bar in the MGM can be accommodating but can also be jerks. 30+ screens showing various college gameday American football games, about 15 people in there, watching three screens between them. 'Any chance you can pop the Liverpool match on in a corner for us? ' 'All the screens are set up for these important games, sorry' Utter bellend.
Depends which staff are on or whether they want to watch kids chucking a pigskin around a field 😳.

05 Sep 2017 05:50:34
Great response. Cheers guys 👍🏻 c'mon Liverpool smash City they should play into our hands. Bobby will rip them apart if he's on it.

04 Sep 2017 17:08:33
Just seen that Clyne hasn't been included in our champions league squad. Does this mean that he's likely to be out for the whole season with injury, or have we been looking at getting rid of him? Cheers!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - No it will just be the injury and availability after getting match ready.}

04 Sep 2017 16:50:24
When is clyne due back? Left out of CL squad, surely he would be angling for a move in January if he has any hopes of going to the World Cup.
For me though, walker is England's first choice - TAA won't be far off in my eyes, if he continues on this trajectory!

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - in 5 years..maybe..

04 Sep 2017 18:31:27
England's best right back is a toss up between Keiran Trippier, Jonjoe Kenny and Trent Alexander-Arnold! Sorry state of affairs when your best right backs are the u20 and u21 right backs, and the other one can't get picked because he can't run 100m in less than 12 seconds.

It defies logic how Walker, Clyne etc have been picked down the years. They're not footballers, they are athletes. Watching Walker last night against Malta was embarrassing. The bloke cost £50m and he just kept cutting inside taking up Alli's space, and every time he touched the ball he lost it. What a god awful player. His first touch never stays below knee height, and his second touch is rarely much better. Other countries must look at our clubs paying £50m for average wing backs and laugh! There was one stage where Chamberlain faced up their left back and you could see him waiting for Walker to run on the outside like any half decent wing back would, and instead Walker ran into midfield! I could not believe it.

City have had their trousers pulled down there. If he was remotely decent on the ball you could look past his rash tackling and total ignorance of positioning. England will never win anything with Walker or Clyne because international football is unforgiving and weak links will be brutally exposed. I can't wait to see Walker trying to defend against Mane/ Salah. All Walker has is pace, so god knows how he'll cope against wingers he can't just outsprint. Put Mane down for at least 1 goal!

04 Sep 2017 19:23:18
yep bang on mate!

i think clyne is finished at liverpool now, what with injury and TAA and Gomez!

maybe citeh would like another £50m back up RB?

04 Sep 2017 20:21:09
Spot on, MK. Clyne, Walker and Rose are great athletes but bang average footballers who wouldn't make it in the French, Spanish and German national teams where they actually value the ability to actually play football. City get mugged every time concerning signing defenders. The only good defender they have is Kompany and even he is on his last legs but great player. They have spent over 300m on defenders (200m on CB's) and I would not take any of them over the ones we have cos Klopp does not sign athletes lacking a footballing brain. Crap players, crap team, crap national team.

04 Sep 2017 20:26:39
So England's only problem is their full backs MK?

04 Sep 2017 21:16:39
They are just the beginning of their problems, Harry.

04 Sep 2017 21:32:27
Thank God Bingo! You saved me! But mate some of their players are star names of their club!

04 Sep 2017 15:56:29
Ed1 if you are about mate, I know you are a big Flanno fan, as I an as well, I know he had a bad injury just before he went on loan but has stayed fit for quite a while now, do the club expect him to get his sharpness back to were he was a few years back, I don't believe we have kept him for no reason this summer, also as he fully recovered from his knee injuries now?

Believable3 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - no one expects him to be back to the level he was at sadly.}

04 Sep 2017 17:10:59
How fragile a footballer's career really is. One injury could affect so much.

04 Sep 2017 17:33:28
What about falcoa ed.

3 years wasn't it for him to return and he was a part striker trying to get back. Whereas flanno is a not very speedy defender anyway.

He. has enough fight to succeed. He has never been about his athletism.

He just knows the game and if allowed to play he could certainly return.

{Ed001's Note - I hope you are right.}

04 Sep 2017 18:37:40
I wonder if he could adjust to play centre back Ed001. He reads the game well, tackles well, follows his man as good as anyone, and despite only being 5ft11 he puts players off as they jump kind of like how Lucas did.

He is certainly good enough on the ball. I'm not suggesting he will ever be first choice, but he could potentially be the back up when Klavan is gone. He could even move back into midfield to cover defensive midfield.

It would have to be because he is good enough though, not just because he is scouse. I just think it may be worth trying him in a new role though. He started as a right back, played midfield for the academy, left back in the first team etc. He is well up for the challenge of learning a new position and it could save his Anfield career which he clearly wants to do more than anything.

He just doesn't really suit a wing back in Klopps system.

{Ed001's Note - I would think it is more likely he would play defensive mid.}

04 Sep 2017 18:50:16
As long as Gomez and TAA are getting in the team and particularly once Clyne comes back there is no need for Flanagan. Should have moved on two years ago. I admire him for his efforts but he could be a starter comfortably at one of the mid table clubs instead of 4th string here.

{Ed025's Note - i hope you meant in the championship amerigo..

04 Sep 2017 20:30:45
Players like flanno defensively in this day and age are a very very rare breed. Why. Because he actually understands the art. What defending us all about.

The same reason carra was so good.

He doesn't need pace and never has. He will be fine, when given trust and love. Oh and some game time.

04 Sep 2017 14:26:05
Hi Ed001/ 002,
Why have we included Kent and Ojo and excluded Ings in the Champions League squad?
Seems baffling considering both Kent and Ojo have gone out on loan.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

{Ed001's Note - I would suspect it is a mistake mate, as Ojo (and Kent) are under the age that they need to be named in the squad I believe.}

04 Sep 2017 15:12:28
Ruling is you can only name 23 players over the age of 21, 8 of whom must qualify as home grown. If you cannot list 8 home grown players, you must leave the squad position empty.

However, you can list an unlimited number of u21 players. That is why Kent and Ojo have been listed. If their loan spells are cut short, they are in the squad just in case. They don't take up a squad position so it is purely precautionary, but very deliberate. Masterson, Ejaria, Brannagan, Brewster and Wilson are a few other kids to be listed despite them being almost certain not to play

Ings has been left out as he clearly isn't fit enough to be competing at that level. He's been been out through injury for over 2 years now. It is more striking that Clyne and Markovic have been left out. Looks like their Anfield careers are over (Markovic we knew that anyway) . Injury is no reason to leave Clyne out unless it is a really major injury, as Lallana has been listed and he's reportedly out until December. Clyne seems to have been usurped by Arnold, Gomez and Flanagan as they have all been named in the squad (though keep in mind that Arnold and Gomez are part of the unlimited u21s) . Great news for Flanagan though!

It says to me that Clyne either has a major injury concern that could rule him out for 6 months or more, or that Klopp no longer wants Clyne as part of his first team squad. There have been rumours that Klopp doesn't like Clyne for some time to be fair! It'll all come out soon enough.

04 Sep 2017 18:35:33
MK, you can name 25 players over 21 on your "A List". But there's an additional distinction for the 8 Home Grown players in the Champions League squad: at least 4 of those 8 have to be trained (ie. at least 3 full years between the ages of 16 and 21) by Liverpool specifically. Only Flanagan and Ward meet this criteria among players we have older than 21. So we've left two of those places empty. There's no 'loss' as such by putting in Flanagan. If we didn't register him, we'd have to leave his slot empty.

The Premier League doesn't have this requirement and all 8 Home Grown players for PL registration can be trained at any club under the jurisdiction of the Football Association.

04 Sep 2017 18:48:02
Thanks for the clarification SR, buddy!

04 Sep 2017 12:49:24
Hi edd01, couple of questions for ya pal if you don't mind please. How much longer will clyne be out for? And do you see ward getting a chance any time soon?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - I don't actually know when Clyne is back, he has got a back injury now according to the club. They are not giving a return date for him yet.

I expect Ward to get cup games.}

04 Sep 2017 14:56:29
Cheers edd pal.

{Ed002's Note - I understand that the club are planning on Clyne having a period of illness after his back injury.}

04 Sep 2017 15:47:50
in other words ed002 he is surplus to requirements, TAA and Gomez are the preferred choices for right back, being cynical clynes injury troubles will take him up to January just in time for the transfer window to open again.

04 Sep 2017 16:18:21
Very cryptic Ed002 😎.

04 Sep 2017 16:34:43
Is Clyne under emotional stress Ed2? 😂.

{Ed002's Note - Actually it was a strained hamstring the club originally mentioned.}

04 Sep 2017 16:38:53
Flog him to man city for 50m in January. Can't decide between Arnold or Gomez for RB, two cracking players. Hopefully that's RB sorted for a few years, didn't rate clyne at all.

04 Sep 2017 16:43:26
I've heard some off field issues are playing a big part.

04 Sep 2017 16:43:27
Not another player with a back injury. who did we refuse to sell him to? :-)

{Ed025's Note - who the hell would buy him??..

04 Sep 2017 16:52:33
Think we should just play Gomez CB - integrate him in a. Little at right back, then give him his chance in the middle!

04 Sep 2017 19:17:26
I'm sure Fiery Jack would have sorted all these back problems out 😉.

04 Sep 2017 14:10:40
Any of the Eds have any information on Clyne? There has been very little mentioned about him, he was initially missing a few weeks but now he's not been selected in our CL group squad even though we still have room available. It's all been very quiet surrounding him.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - He is listed as injured by the club but they have given no detail of note and have not said when he will be available again.}

04 Sep 2017 20:43:59
some injuries are self inflicted.

04 Sep 2017 12:29:56
Ed001, if you're about mate.

Reports saying the Ox wants a central midfield role, do you see Klopp accommodating this? It will be really interesting to see where he slits in.

I've never been too sure about Chamberline but if there's a manager that can get a "tune" out of him it's Klopp.

I don't know why but I've got a feeling this slightly underwhelming signing ( seen by most ) could turn out pivotal.

Believable6 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - I expect Ox to play there and on the wings depending on who needs a rest. We do not really play normal centre mids, they are expected to provide a lot of help on the flanks so it might suit him.}

04 Sep 2017 16:21:33
Cheers mate, I really hope he gives us another productive option, I have a gut feeling it will.

04 Sep 2017 12:08:50
So glad we're the first game on after the international break. I can't take the waiting.

I reckon we will absolutely decimate City. That high line Pep loves will be heaven for Mane and Salah.

I'm so excited for this season!

Believable21 Unbelievable0

04 Sep 2017 12:45:28
they also have players that will test our defence and goalkeeper MK, should be a cracking match if we win the midfield battle that should give us the platform to win the match.

04 Sep 2017 13:04:31
No Sterling is a bonus.

Let's hope we can score a couple whilst keeping it tight at the back.

It'll be a sterner test than Arsenal.

04 Sep 2017 13:09:43
City are a different proposition than arsenal. City are our closest rival imo. The games last season were very close and we have both improved. They are the one team in the league who can actually play football with us and have a chance of winning. I'd be a lot happier if coutinio were back in the fold. I hope we don't lose. A draw wouldn't be the end of the world. There is a real buzz about liverpool atm and a win will undoubtedly send fans into a frenzy. I'm not worried about our defence, it's in these games last year that the defence showed they were worth their salt. I wonder if AOC will feature? If so, where?

04 Sep 2017 13:27:12
Will be a very open game. Two world class attacks against two banng average defences. Going for a 3-3 draw. Mane and Aguero to bag braces.

04 Sep 2017 13:41:54
I think their biggest strength is in their playmakers with KDB, Silvia but I think they'll struggle to cope with our midfield three of Hendo, Can and Gini which should control the middle of the park, and any loss of possession we'll be very dangerous with our front 3 attacking a shaky back line.

I think we'll create the more clear cut chances and will just win this one, maybe 3-2. Expect Coutinho to come off the bench.

04 Sep 2017 14:25:01
City haven't impressed me at all. They could just click into gear at any moment, but judging on their first 3 games, if we stop David Silva we will kill their chances. Everything has gone through him, without exception. Pep has the balance all wrong, he's spent £130m on 3 defenders who can't tackle, and Aguero and Jesus seem to be on a different planet. I don't think they like each other to be honest. Only Pep knows why De Bruyne is in defensive midfield!

04 Sep 2017 15:48:06
One thing is for sure though MK they will get a lot of players forward. They don't have too many that will expose our weaknesses from long balls and crosses but if we push too many men forward we will get caught. Likewise we will catch them if they do the same. I'm quietly confident but if you offered me a draw I think I'd reluctantly take it and move on.

04 Sep 2017 16:24:28
Here is hoping that they play DeBruyne as a holding midfielder again and a back three as you could see either of Mane or Salah destroying them for pace and if Arsenal's midfield and defenders couldn't pick up Firmino then I doubt that any of City's back line will.

04 Sep 2017 16:42:49
Two tight games last year. Klopp great record last year against top sides and obviously continued that last week. U can make a case here for just about any result. Happy w a point but can easily see us dismantle them 3-1. I don't think pep is all he is cracked up to b and I'll bet klopp is sleeping better this week.

04 Sep 2017 16:54:13
De bruyne doesn't play as a defensive midfielder - he's just In a deepe role - is suspect he wants him the develop into a modric type.

04 Sep 2017 18:26:18
I also think if we can nulify their attackkg full backs, it will squeeze them narrow and we can counter attack with width and pace.

I still think this will be a very tough game, harder than some might think. They have some quality players. Sometimes, in open games, like this is predicted, form goes out of the window.

04 Sep 2017 18:41:39
Jesus if Pep wastes De Bruyne trying to make him into a deep midfielder, he wants banking from all football activity for 5 years. That would be a travesty! Probably one of the top 5 attacking midfielders in the game right now.

Maybe Klopp can offer him an escape route and we can send Man City Coutinho in return to be converted into a left inside half back. Or whatever new position Pep is inventing that week!

04 Sep 2017 21:06:50
Superred is correct. City is overstocked with attacking players and in fact, they play 6 offensive players out of the 10 outfield players, confirming that Pep wants to overwhelm the opposition with so many weapons that they won't have the time to attack them.

City is the only team that can go toe-to-toe with us in an open game and really, I am not sure that we can win that fight as last season at the Emptyhad, we were close to losing just as we were close to winning.

This is where Klopp is brilliant. He prolly knows we are not the attacking juggernaut City are individually so in the first game last season at Anfield like vs Arsenal last weekend, we dropped deep and we plugged all the passing lanes, making it difficult for them to break us down and as soon as we countered and got the goal from Wiji, we dropped into a 4-5-1 shell and limited them to one shot on target. I suspect that Klopp will do the same thing to them cos the last time we did that to them, we won 4-1. They are there for the taking BUT so are we so I hope we make ourselves hard to break down first, then go from there.

04 Sep 2017 11:46:37
Morning all .
Did Salah get injured on internationally duty for Egypt and if unfortunately so how serious an injury is it? How long will he be out for cheers.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - The Egyptian national team doctor has said Salah isn't injured and has trained as normal ahead of their match against Uganda tomorrow.}

04 Sep 2017 11:58:54
Excellent stuff ed007 thanks for the update had tried the search engine but didn't bring up anything hopefully all our players come back injury free from the international break . Thanks again mate.

{Ed007's Note - You're welcome buddy.}

04 Sep 2017 12:21:22
Have you spoken to doctor personally Ed? ;)

{Ed007's Note - Mohamed Abou El-Ela? Well kind of I suppose - I hacked his phone.....

04 Sep 2017 13:05:05
I think donald trump tweeted ed too 😁.

{Ed007's Note - That was just some advice about hair products.}

04 Sep 2017 14:27:39
LMAO ed07. How does trump look in the mirror and think "that's perfect"? That is one strange head, inside and out. Is it true he wants to build a wall in Stanley Park?

{Ed007's Note - The only person with a worse hairdo than Trump is wee Pubehead off Corrie. I don't know who Stanley Park is mate ;)

04 Sep 2017 11:27:24
Ed is there an option that we may take meaninh Keita arrives in January, or is it totally out of the question?

Believable0 Unbelievable3

{Ed002's Note - No there won't be an option in the contract.}

04 Sep 2017 15:50:06
That's not to say it won't happen though Ed? If they are not fighting for anything and we offer an extra amount on top surely they would consider it?

{Ed002's Note - I am not sure why Liverpool would pay more than the large amount they have already agreed to - and they would need to sell someone to make space in January.

But yes that could happen. He could also get knocked over by a ruinaway bus stolen by drunken nuns from the Gower Pininsula - there nothing to sat that won't happen either.}

04 Sep 2017 10:45:27
Eds, on the subject of valuable players running their contract down who are in demand, i. e. Can. Would it not be in the best interest of all parties for the club to offer a new contract with a very reasonable or low release clause (say £20 for Can) with 10% of it going to the player, triggered after a mutually agreed date?
At least the club would get something back from him, the player would get better pay for a year, a great signing on bonus and protection if he did get a bad injury last game of the season, and the low fee wouldn't put off potential buyers as they are getting a really good price.
My knowledge if contracts is limited so excuse me if this is a silly question. Thanks in advance.

Believable0 Unbelievable4

{Ed002's Note - Why would the player even think of signing such a deal - and why is everyone here obsessed with various clauses? If a player is running down his contract it is in the best interest of the player and not the club. Clubs can easily sell if they want a financial return (and that may see a flurry of activity in January).}

04 Sep 2017 10:57:04
Ok eds, thanks for the reply.

{Ed002's Note - You are welcome.}

04 Sep 2017 11:11:48
I don't know much about players contracts but I would assume a player can get a larger signing on fee if they were to let their contract run down.

{Ed002's Note - Yes Amrit. Way, way larger.}

04 Sep 2017 11:29:21
Which is why a lot of players prefer to do that in the first place, Ed.

04 Sep 2017 12:30:40
If the club decides to sell doesn't the player have to agree to the move also?

If he is intent on running his contract down, there seems little that the club can do.

{Ed002's Note - Yes the player has to agree. But that doesn't mean that a January move is out of the question.}

04 Sep 2017 12:55:37
So coutsy signs a contact in Jan, 7 months later he gets slaughtered on here for wanting to leave to join a bouyhood dream club which would have also enable the club to get the worlds second highest transfer fee. Can refuses to sign an extention and people are worried about him going on a free and not getting a return back for 'everything we have done for him' . I can see after the couts saga played out exactly why he wouldn't sign a contract!

{Ed025's Note - i dont get all this its ok for couts to go to fulfill his boyhood dreams malarkey swish, hes a contracted liverpool player who is being a complete arse over this going to barca lark, he pretended to have a back injury then went away and played for brazil ffs, he is nothing more than a little traitor and should be booed every time he touches the ball by liverpool fans the scum bag..

04 Sep 2017 13:16:19
It seems s crazy situation. I can't help thinking we don't know the whole story concerning Can. I can't see us selling such a vital player in January, as we get to the business end of the season but at the same time I think it's mad to let s player of his quality to leave for nothing. He has been playing out of his skin so far this season and I hope he is pushing for a better contract. It will feel great if Can signs as he is a top top player.

{Ed002's Note - It will be that or the summer. This is again business as usual -there is nothing special about him or any other Liverpool players.}

04 Sep 2017 13:30:05
100% correct Ed,

How many lads would give anything to be in his place,

04 Sep 2017 13:33:00
Seems a bit excessive ed25, I'm sure a lot on here would have loved it if dijk had feigned a back injury if it meant we got him! Besides shouldn't you be booing Rooney after he left you to join his boyhood club :p.

{Ed025's Note - i certainly did at the time swish, they are paid enough mate so why sign a contract if you have no intention of fulfilling it?, for me has stabbed liverpool in the back and it could cost you the league in the end....and you want to throw flowers at the little pricks feet and wish him well...amazing..

04 Sep 2017 13:43:46
Spot on ed25. coutinho has let everyone down. transfer request on eve of the season.
Hope he apologises, so we can move on. What I would disagree is forever. We all forgave Gerrard afterall.

{Ed025's Note - gerrard gave his best years to liverpool though phil, couts has given very little mate..

04 Sep 2017 14:32:32
Have to say, I agree with ed025 here.

I think PC has caused a lot of damage and its a poor showing to say the least.

From what the eds have said, there was an agreement that he would give us another year and then get his move to Barca, now I understand that what he did was to push this season because they wanted him in now, but his actions in pushing for a move were totally selfish. Supporters of this club don't deserve it. Simple as. He's on a great wage and has been handed a lot by LFC. It no doubt added pressure in the transfer market and a lot of kneejerk reaction and precious time wasted thinking of a solution to a problem he caused.

In the same way I absolutely don't agree with how we acted in regards to VVD this year either, its not fair on the supporters of Southampton and has no doubt caused friction in the Southampton team and management, probably hampered the start to the season in some ways, but I actually think what he has done is another level above. Feigning injury is only really topped by Suarez who acted disgustingly. its a really shitty attitude on his behalf. Im very glad that his move has fallen through and he's forced to sit back and think about his actions and not get away with it, in the same way I hope the VVD saga has shown the supporters and management of our club that when you act inappropriately you must face the consequences.

04 Sep 2017 13:47:52
Hi Eds,
I've not had a chance to thank you for the updates again, so thanks. I'm a long time reader but don't post often.
As with everyone, I'm gutted about the whole Can scenario as he is proving to be a top player after we have stood by him for a while now.
Sorry if it has already been asked, but what is the big reason he won't sign?
Money? Guaranteed playing time? Position played? Club? Manager? Country? Fresh Start?
From previous posts it suggests it could be playing time, especially when we are looking to spend big money on Central midfield positions, but I just wondered if that was definitely the case? and whether Klopp will not guarantee him the playing time?

{Ed001's Note - it is playing time, Klopp has been buying players for the position he wants to play. The club think his future is in the holding role from what I can gather, so they are buying in expectation of him playing there. He wants to play central midfield and is unhappy that so many are being bought with the intention of moving him from there.}

04 Sep 2017 14:58:11
Thanks Ed,
What's your thoughts on his position? He seems to suit the holding role well, but he does have a good strike on him.
I guess he is a good box to box midfielder as well, but what are your thoughts on his best position?
If he goes in the summer, do you think we will look for a holding midfielder as a replacement, or is someone lined up for it? I know we have Handerson and Wijnaldum and some youngsters, but I think they play a different role than Can.
Thanks.

{Ed001's Note - he is more of a box to box player who wants to get in and score goals. Keita will replace him in the forward role, I assume the club will start the search for a new holding role throughout the season.}

04 Sep 2017 13:51:00
Ed25 never said I'd wish him well, just pointing out the hypocrisy surrounding one player not signing a contract and people annoyed he may go for free versus another one that did sign and annoyed when we could have got a huge fee for him. No pleasing some people!

{Ed025's Note - the thing is swish that can will honour his contract mate where phil wont..

04 Sep 2017 16:07:53
Forgive Gerrard for what?

FFS, he nearly single handedly got us to Istanbul, scoring important, top quality goals that no other member of the team could.
He was consistently our top player and was coveted bythe elite clubs of Europe,
LFC was / is in his blood,

players like Stevie G and Robbie Fowler are the best of the best because of their commitment to LFC.

I'm sorry but you can't Compare Gerrard with Coutinio.

He has shown as much disresoect for the club as the other 2 showed respect.

He is not fit to wear our shirt.

and Klopp has a simple choice whether to treat him the same as Sahko for Professional misconduct.

Or else the press should have a field day, and rightly so.

04 Sep 2017 17:25:30
One of your biggest fans ed25 but you've got this one all wrong. Couts had been a great servant to Liverpool for almost 5 years and deserves respect. What he's done is put his own interests above Liverpool's but he's earned the right to do that. I'm glad he's still a Liverpool player but I wouldn't begrudge him moving one bit.

{Ed025's Note - since when has a servant been on £100k a week putney?, and what makes you think he has the right to break a contract? or to feign injury?, hes a selfish low life and totally out of order mate..

04 Sep 2017 18:19:05
If we knew all the facts I might agree with you Ed, but there's far too much speculation and assumption going on. He gets the benefit of the doubt from me and if he's professional on his return then all's good.

{Ed025's Note - no doubt some will agree with you putney, myself i believe in loyalty and if his contract was up or if liverpool wanted to sell him then i could live with that, but it wasn,t and they dont...poor show for me mate..

04 Sep 2017 08:19:48
Question for Ed001, if he is around. Are you aware about the plans for Harry Wilson? I would have thought that he would be sent out on loan to get some first team experience but that didn't happen. Why is that so? Is he just not seen ready for first team football (by other clubs too) or do we intend on using him in the first team in the cup games?

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - he is close to the first team, so he is being kept to play in cup games yes. At least that is the plan, obviously he could end up picking up an injury or lose form and not be in the running by the time they come around.}

04 Sep 2017 08:52:43
Not going to happen for Wilson at LFC. Let's be honest, have u seen the number of senior players ahead of him in the pecking order? Mane? Salah? AOC? Kent and Ojo to come back as well next season.
Best for the club and Wilson to part ways and et the lad build his career elsewhere. He is good enough to be a regular than be sat on the bench at LFC.

04 Sep 2017 09:39:16
Kent and Ojo to come back next season, there will be opportunities for him this season I'm sure.

04 Sep 2017 12:11:38
Ojo may be sold.

04 Sep 2017 13:01:36
I would have thought the biggest challenge to Ono, Wilson and Kent is the age profile of the players ahead of them, none of those 3 is retiring or being eased out any time soon. Will be interesting to see what happens with them.

04 Sep 2017 13:21:32
Indian buzzers comment is unpopular but it's also true. It's sad, the lad has put in a lot of effort. It is harsh but I don't see him getting in front of the attacking midfielders we have. Fair play if the lad wants to stay and fight for a place, I respect his bottle but at the same time, if he chose to look elsewhere for game time, I as a fan would wish him all the best ynwa.

04 Sep 2017 14:30:26
I'm sure klopp will be keen to get a look at him this season, if he stays fit, no question about the talent being there but if I'm not wrong he has just come back from another injury. Hopefully that's just a part of natural development but he needs to start proving that he's capable of staying fit through the majority of a season.

04 Sep 2017 14:39:33
Wilson trained with the first team today. Klopp still has his eye on him, for now.

04 Sep 2017 08:06:56
Eds any chance of an assessment of our first team and squad and how you think our season may pan out?

I appreciate u may have answered this already but what with all the posts throughout the last day of transfer deadline etc I haven't seen it.

Regards

Niallo.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - yes mate, it is on my to do list already. I haven't had time to write it yet though.}

04 Sep 2017 06:46:06
Question for ed002. ..................

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - We are not going to go there. Sorry.}

04 Sep 2017 09:09:07
Understood. Thanks anyway.

{Ed002's Note - You are welcome.}

03 Sep 2017 20:59:44
Ed025

Question for you mate

In your honest opinion can you see Klopp bringing silver wear to the club this season and also do you thin Koeman is the correct man to take Everton a step closer to the top 4-5.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - i think liverpool have a decent chance of winning a cup savvy, but think the league and CL are out of their reach this season, on koeman the jury is still out i think but given time and the resources he could well have everton vying for the top 4, but it may take a couple of seasons mate..

04 Sep 2017 08:30:51
Ed025 Obviously I want Liverpool to win everything but realistically this year I would be very happy with a FA Cup win with a decent show in the league and champions league with a top 4 finish, if Klopp doesn't win something this year then questions do need to be asked.

moving onto Everton what would you call a realistic target this year for you guys? I do like your squad you have some very talented lads in there with 2-3 Youth players coming on leaps on bounds Calveton Lewin looks a good prospect, Holgate looks very tidy and everyone seems to have forgotten about Lookman he gets you excited when he is on the ball I would say a top 6 finish with a very good showing in the Europa league would be a good season for you lads I do think in January you need to address the striker position but you never know Calveton might come on leaps and bounds in 6 months and that young lad from Hadjuk split if I remember correctly looked very good.

{Ed025's Note - my guess would be everton finishing 7th kloppers, its going to take time for that many new players to gel and not having a recognised CF will make it difficult to win games, calvert lewin is doing a good job but is only young yet so i dont want to set expectation too high mate..

04 Sep 2017 08:56:52
Everton will regret not signing a decent striker this summer. They do have a decent enough midfield and fullbacks (once Coleman is back) but Rooney does not cut it for me as a lone striker and Sandro is just not ready to be the main man yet. There is a possibility they could creep into 6th spot if Arsenal have a shocking meltdown but again that is hard to see. Their CBs are also not that good imo. Keane is ok but Jagielka and Williams need immediate replacing. They have become the twiddle dee and dum of Everton's defense.

04 Sep 2017 09:03:39
I've got a bet on Liverpool to win the league and Everton to get relegated. I don't honestly believe Everton will go down but I do think they'll struggle to be in the top half. 😎😎.

{Ed025's Note - you should have just threw your money down a grid then ings, its no wonder bookies are so rich with bets like that, did the guy behind the counter start laughing when you handed the slip i with liverpool to win the league on it?..

04 Sep 2017 10:27:33
Yes, but he didn't laugh at all when he saw the one on Everton to get relegated ;)

04 Sep 2017 10:58:55
I would really like Everton to be challenging again with us (ahead of all the London and Manchester sides), but i think as you say Ed025, they are a few years off yet.

I disagree on them lacking a striker personally. I think in Rooney, Lookman, Lewin and Sandro they have more than enough. Rooney is good for 15 a season playing as a striker and Lewin and Lookman need games to fulfil their massive potential. They could be special.

Midfield they're strong with Sigurdsson, Schneiderlin, Gueye and Klaasen. After that though the quality drops off severely. The likes of Barkley, Davies, McCarthy etc are just headless chickens and thugs. Not good enough. Davies has potential but i don't see him ever being a top 4 level midfielder.

Their wingers i just don't get. Bolasie and Mirallas are all pace no ability. Really don't see the point in them. Mirallas is also a complete thug too.

I think they are weak in the full back areas. Baines is well past his best, Garbutt needs games to develop, Coleman may never be the same player again although touch wood he comes back stronger, Martina is a stop gap at best, and JJ Kenny needs to be playing more.

Centre backs i rate Williams as a leader but not a player, Holgate and Pennington have potential, but after that they are very poor here. Funes Mori is yet another thug, Keane is so average it is unreal, Jagielka looks like a slightly more fragile Agger. Don't see how they can challenge with a central defence that is literally weaker than Liverpool's. That takes some doing!

Keeper wise i personally think in Pickford they have England's number 1 for the next decade so that was a great buy.

Hope to see them back up their with us in a few years, but they are still carrying too many poor players, and too many thugs with a mid table mentality. I thought Koeman was better than that but after the Derby last year i question that. I don't see him as the man to take Everton to the next level. They have the investors now, but they need a coach with less ego and more tactical nous.

{Ed025's Note - i will have a lot of what your saying MK but there are some things you have wrong mate, davies has the potential to play for england and is a fine talent, keane is very good and bolasie on his day is unplayable, this thug thing is a bit over the top as well, yes the occasion got the better of us in the derbies but i dont think we went out with the intention to kick you off the pitch (even though i admit it looked awful), im not williams biggest fan but the rest of our defence is good and a lot stronger than liverpools thats for certain, koeman is not as incisive enough for me even though i think hes a good manager, i would like him to be less cautious and more attacking at times like when we played city and let them off the hook when down to 10 men, we have some cracking youngsters at the club though so the future is looking bright, but its the here and now that supporters are interested in so we need to knit as a unit quickly if we are to step up to the mark this season, but it wont be easy..

04 Sep 2017 11:02:28
Thanks for the reply Ed 👍🏻.

{Ed025's Note - anytime mate..

04 Sep 2017 13:36:22
I still think Everton will finish above arsenal and spurs. I would hate to be the person to try and get Everton into the top four as there are too many top teams with lots of money they'd have to displace. I agree with ed025 that the jury is out. I see only one reason they can't be the next spurs and that is a quick striker. Rooney is fantastic plating in the hole but he is at his best with someone good in front of him.

I think liverpool can win the league if we get lucky concerning injuries. Depth cost us last year and it isn't such an issue now but I would be happy with a top three finish. I think liverpool are one of the three best teams so that should be achievable. I don't see us seriously pushing for the domestic cups. Maybe FA cup but the league cup will be for the kids. I think we are in with a shout in ucl, quarter finals and I'd be pleased any further and I'll be well happy. If we beat city you will start hearing the pundits talk about liverpool as serious title contenders for the first time this season.

{Ed025's Note - although i dont think you will win the league superred i still think you will be right up there, with a better defence you would be a lot closer i believe mate..

04 Sep 2017 14:07:10
Yeah my thinking too ed025. Cheers for the reply.

Concerning lovren, we have seen him perform excellently for Southampton and it is possible he puts in a great season. Especially as he is kind of fighting for his place with lfc keen to bring in the right new cb.

04 Sep 2017 14:01:07
Cheers for your thoughts Ed025. Hopefully you come 4th at the expense of Chelski, Citeh and United. Realistically though, I've got you down for 6th place at Arsenals expense. Their midfield is absolutely woeful!

{Ed025's Note - i would take 6th MK especially as we are re-building mate..

{Ed025's Note - i dont know whether it is the players or the way they are being coached superred..

04 Sep 2017 07:00:37
Morning eds,
Just wondering for your opinion on can. I have used the search function and seen that the main reason for him wanting out was playing time.
His form so far this season has been good, and i would say he has been our best midfielder. So if his form continues he will clearly play a lot of games, do you think that would convince him to stay or do you think the damage has been done by bringing in, or trying to bring in players to replace him?
Cheers.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - it is not just players to replace him, it is players like Henderson being captain will always play if fit. People have pointed out how many games Can played last season, but how many would he have played if Henderson had not missed a big chunk of the season? I think we just have to accept that he is going to move on at the end of the season and wish him well for the future.}

04 Sep 2017 07:22:52
Hendo won't be dropped! He is the baby face. I have said it earlier Can is the victim of Henderson's captaincy!

04 Sep 2017 07:51:50
Or Henderson and Gini are just better footballers.

{Ed025's Note - no they are not..

04 Sep 2017 08:10:33
Henderson is like the managers son, always getting picked even though there is better on the bench lol I remember those days from playing as a kid xD.

04 Sep 2017 08:29:53
Hendo worked tooth and nail to get to where he is at LFC. Remember when BR wanted rid of him in favour of his "son" Joe Allen, a far inferior footballer to him? Now, he was the coach's "son", not Hendo. Enough of this BS of Hendo being the coach's son. None of it is true and Ed01 said that he has the respect of his team mates.

Can will be missed if he leaves as he is on the cusp of being world class and he's only 23. If he does leave, I'm glad Naby is coning in as he is an upgrade ot our midfield whether Can stays or not.

04 Sep 2017 08:30:34
Until he had a run of games, Can had been very inconsistent while Gini and Hendo had been less so. Start of this season and all 3 started slowly. Given Hendo is captain a d until he is out of form or availability then he will be first selected from the midfield list. It is not a 'coach's son' as i believe Hendo earned his spot. Can needs to do the same. Make yourself unstoppable.

04 Sep 2017 08:40:58
I am in agreement with the posters who want Can to stay beyond this season and say that he should be playing regularly in our team, but I don't get their criticism of Hendo and saying that he is keeping Can from being in the team. May be Hendo was not at his best last season, but since the start of this season, he has done exceptionally well. People forget that our current system thrives on pressing and counter attacking, and Hendo is extremely integral to it. Are people really choosing to not see that in the last 2 games Hendo has created 2 clear goal scoring opportunities purely due to his pressing and nicking the ball off the opponents? I am equally torn deciding who plays between Can or Henderson, since they both bring a fitting aspect to the team, but blatantly downplaying Hendo's contribution to his system and team is downright ignorant.

04 Sep 2017 08:50:26
Hendo is our best midfielder. Nobody else in our squad protects the defence like he does, or switches the play as fast and accurately. Aside from maybe Lallana and Firmino, nobody presses as well as him either. He is also our only natural leader. He will chew people out for not doing their job, and talk to the more inexperienced players to help them through the game.

Without a shadow of a doubt the most under rated player in the league. You have to watch him every week to truly appreciate his remarkable consistency and you have to almost focus on him at the expense of the game to fully appreciate how well he does the ugly stuff. He doesn't score many or play hundreds of killer passes in between the lines, but so what? That isn't his job in our team anymore. But when it was, he scored 7 and assisted 15 in a single season. He has it in him, but Klopp wants him to play a different role because nobody else in the team is capable of doing it at his level; Can included.

Can is a victim of nothing, but i tell you what, Hendo is a victim of being British! He'd walk into any team in the league except probably Man United. The centre midfielders in the Premier league who I'd swap him for are Matic, Kante or Dembele. Nobody else could do his job in our team.

04 Sep 2017 09:10:07
I'm with you there MK I think he's massively underrated by most fans just because he won't dribble past 5 players and play defence plotting passes every 5 minutes. His work rate and anticipation can only really be rivalled by Lallana in our squad. He's the only one of our midfielders that senses danger and positions himself correctly to stop it. Plus you can see when he's on the pitch he is a leader and keeps the rest of the team going. Integral is a great word for him.
Can is becoming a good player but if he sees his future elsewhere then like every other player I'd wish him well and move on.

04 Sep 2017 09:04:25
Guys accept it. Can's gone at the end of the season most likely to Juve. Im sure he wanted a long career at LFC but where is he likely to be a nailed on first teamer in the midfield? Klopp's personal favorites are Gini and Hendo (when fit) and Coutinho will also be playing there this season. Can's biggest enemy has been his versatility to slot in anywhere in midfield and Klopp has used this to turn him into a utility midfielder which Can probably resents.
Plus Keita will also be guaranteed first teamer next season which pushes Can further down the pecking order.

04 Sep 2017 09:21:40
Spot on, MK. We all know how we struggled last season when Hendo was out BUT since his detractors like to rewrite history or just ignore it, they start bashing him and some like Harry, say he is only playing cos he is the baby faced captain or some other nonsense . Hendo is a leader and is well-respected by his team mates, per Ed01. Can he improve or get better? Of course and that is true for any player and he is a key cog in our pressing system. Go ask Ozil if he wants to go against Hendo ever again as he gets bullied every time. I would hate it if Can left but if he leaves, we move on.

04 Sep 2017 09:52:02
Yeah i should probably clarify that i do really rate Can. Being a German international regular at 23 is impressive to say the least.

I personally wouldn't have bothered signing Keita and would've instead promised Can he was still in the long term first team plans. I've only seen Keita play once though so i will obviously be biased towards Can who I've watched in nearly 100 games!

I don't blame him for wanting to leave though. Next season he could be competing with Henderson (club captain), Lallana (Klopp favourite due to his pressing), Wijnaldun (a Klopp signing), Coutinho (highest paid player), Keita (club record signing) and Grujic (has to be given game time to keep work permit) . Can probably feels he's being phased out, so if he would rather just see out his contract, fair play to him for not stringing us all along for an extra £50k or so a week.

04 Sep 2017 11:00:53
Henderson doesn't posses any skills to play in the deeper role! I don't know what posters are bluffing here. Ed02
Your article on midfielders ONE DAY will settle this case. Henderson is a very good Ball winner infact one of the best but he is no creator or controller. MK likes him so I don't take his argument!

{Ed001's Note - I am sorry but you are wasting your time if you think I am going to agree with your ignorant and frankly ridiculous viewpoint.}

04 Sep 2017 11:21:17
Fair enough Ed01. I ll wait for your article mate!

{Ed001's Note - thanks but you really need to step back and stop hankering after something new mate. Try and spend some time appreciating what we have already. You might realise that a lot of the new blood you hanker after actually are not always better than what is already there. You remind me of my neighbours, it doesn't matter what they have, they are never happy with it and are just saving for a new thing. If they had an Aston Martin, they would just save up for a Ferrari instead and then it would be a Rolls-Royce etc. Rather than looking at the Aston Martin and being glad they are lucky enough to afford it. Not everything shiny and new is better than the old.}

04 Sep 2017 11:58:11
We are half the team without Henderson. Everyone was too busy creaming their pants over Mane last season that they didn't notice our down turn in form also coincided with Henderson being missing. Mane and Henderson were our most important players, closely followed by the Brazilian double act.

Without Hendo, our team is soft, lacks leadership, and struggles to take control of the game.

04 Sep 2017 12:39:26
The problem with this debate is that people think Can and Hendo are in competition, they're not. Can is back up to Hendo only because there's no one else even remotely suitable for the job. Can's competition is Coutinho, Lallana, wiji and, from next season, Keita. Even if Couts leaves then Can will still be behind his replacement. Can will never have the standing on the squad he wants, therefore he has to leave.

04 Sep 2017 13:50:49
Very good point mk, about our results without mane AND Hendo. Henderson is massive for us, anyone who doesn't see that must be blind. He switches play brilliantly and creates space for the quick forwards to exploit. For breaking down stubborn defences this is vital. He also protects the cbs with real class, wins the ball and releases it quickly. You can hear in his interviews that he is an intelligent guy and that is vital in our sort of team.

It does seem that Can's liverpool days are numbered. I'm dissapointed because he is undoubtedly going to become one of the best CMS in the game. But with Hendo and kieta we also have two of the best around so we can't complain too much.

04 Sep 2017 15:42:24
Haha I know I said Hendo is like the coaches son but if you read through my posts I am always defending him on here. Yes we have better technically but not when it comes to work rate/ pressing and passion.
I’ve said in the past he is a slight reminder of Kuyt, because he doesn't possession skill but he is an absolute engine and never stops and it actually brings a lot to the team, more than others see.

Kuyt would get slaughtered by most on here if he played for us now but the fact is most fans still do to this day absolutely love and respect him. And the same can be said about Hendo.
Like others said above, when he is out injured it is very evident and it is like a huge piece is missing from the squad.

03 Sep 2017 23:57:06
I know Ox signed a few days ago but here's my take on the transfer. He's passionate about playing for us, you could see that in his interview, when he was signing the contract! How big his smile was, now that smile wasn't just for show he genuinely wants to be here and the fact he turned down 180k lee week from Chelsea and Arsenal just goes to show there are some players out there who are desperate to move to a team because they think they'll improve more there, get more game time. Personally I think Ox will be successful because he wants to be here and he's willing to learn. He fits our system perfectly imo with his pace and power. Hopefully the skill side can be improved on but I'm genuinely very happy we've signed him!
At the moment I'd rather him play ahead of Coutinho because Ox simple wants to be at the club and wants to succeed Coutinho on the other hand doesn't want to be here so his performances will dip it's inevitable imo. At the end of the day the transfer window was decent. Could've done with a quality CB but I think we have enough going forward to really challenge in all comps we're in.
Sorry for the long post. YNWA!

Believable8 Unbelievable1

04 Sep 2017 08:35:59
LFCleon, I agree with your post overall even tho, I was not for Ox signing for us based only on his lack of ability. However since he really wants to join us and rejected both Arsenal an Chelsea and big wages to come here, at least it proves he is eager to learn and better himself under Klopp which means, he will try harder to be better. We shall see. As for Cou, I doubt that it is inevitable that he won't try when playing cos Klopp will stick him in the reserves if he ever caught wind of that nonsense and we will all be able to see that on the pitch too. Cou loves playing footie and like Suarez, he will come back swinging cos really, he has to cos Tite, the Brazilian manager does not play that nonsense either.

04 Sep 2017 11:13:50
I think you have to ask yourself why 2 other top English clubs wanted AOC and were prepared to pay him big money? Perhaps his ability isn't as limited as some would like to believe?
