Roy was very impressed with garcia today and will bid for him in jan transfer window along with danny murphy. YNWA

Wow, do you people sit there all day thinking these things up, Firstly Danny Murphy is over 30 and is very happy at Fulham, Secondly Luis is a free agent as his contract was cancelled by mutual concent by his club. He's too old to play for us, but an amazing person.erm maybe so but he has signed for the greek team Panathinaikos sorry. would have loved him as a squad player though, always scored against the "top 4" teams

I disagree with you about his delivery on his day Johnson is as good as anyone at crossing.

Blair Mayne YNWA

We agree to differ. I personally think he does not know when to deliver the ball. Like Hanson said about Walcott, he lacks a football brain.

But who would you prefer at Right midfield, Glen or Adam? and before you answer where would you have spent the rest of £10 million by buying Adam.

Dirks Engine Room {ed's note - I would rather have Johnson as a left winger myself.}

04 Sep 2010 23:21:33

For a centre back, Kelly is an excellent good convert to right back. His defensive abilities are excellent. And should be given a chance.

My concern is that Johnson has spent 10 years growing as a right back, at West Ham, Chelsea, Portsmouth, England and us. And like you point out, quite correctly, he would be a better right midfielder. But as right midfielder, in his own right, is not good enough to play that position for us.

His first touch, and delivery offers a massive question mark. City bought Adam Johnson for £7.5 million, and we paid Glen £18 million. Who would we rather have playing right midfield?

Dirks Engine Room

Giving Johnson the chance to go forward is like playing him at RW as he hugs the touch line just like a RW. I don't think Rafa give him enough freedom last season as is Rafa'a approach was to defensive.

But for Portsmouth he was allowed to rome forward and that's the reason we bought him but still Rafa restricted him.

I disagree with you about his delivery on his day Johnson is as good as anyone at crossing.

For me Dirks the Johnson situation is a no brainer.

Play Johnson RW and play Martin Kelly RB as i think that Johnson would be a better RW than RB and Kelly is a fantastic player and could be our regular RB no probs.

Evening all,

Does anyone else think Glen Johnson is carrying an injury, or I hate to say, but is just not very good.

When he first joined he seemed to be a reasonable buy, but since United at home, I have to say he has been poor. I know he his injury prone, but he seems to have lost his explosive speed. He seems very unsure both attacking and defensively. He seems alien to be able to to track back an attacking left winger (especially at the back post).

Caught a bit of England match and all he seemed to do was brush his hair a lot.

Is is just me?

Just found this what do you think ed? {ed's note - it makes little difference if true, the bank will just sell the club on anyway. They won't want to run the club.}

ED do you think it would be a good idea IF the banks did takeover without the 9 point deduction of course just to get of G&H?.

Which team is better? (evened out, to make it hard to choose - Ed, also say what you think)

Team 1:
Reina
Kelly Skrtel Kyrgiakos Aurelio
Maxi Gerrard Lucas Jovanovic
Babel Pacheco

Team 2:
Jones
Johnson Carragher Agger Konchesky
Kuyt Meireles Poulsen Cole
Torres N'gog

EDITOR'S NOTE: Tough one i would go with team 2}

Roy def interested in bringing in jenas in jan, he asked about kranjcar but he was adamant he did not want to move and is happy to rotate, but jenas would consider if he does not feature at white hart lane?

We are missing one player; a winger. Get him in January. Then if Aquilani and Insua stay, and don't move to Juventus and Galatasaray on a permanent basis we will have a very good squad ready for next season.
Imo, Roy will only get a striker in January(if we do get anyone). But we should be looking to a winger.

The sale of the club is on all our minds. My opinion is that the man in charge of the sale is doing for us what Rick scumbag parry should have done. In simple brand revenue we are in the top 4 global football brands and like any business that is for sale this carries the value. What I am trying to say is the buyer doesn't need to the richest he needs to be rich enough to support the brand but more important he needs to have a plan to bring the shine back to the crest. We are not a sleeping giant Liverpool fc worldwide is a giant. So lets keep the faith. Oh one last thing the idea that dic are skint is rubbish dubai developers are skint, but dic have oil and lots of it so they very well may buy the club as it as more return at the min than a five star hotel. just my taughts.

Hope to hell this refinancing rumour is bull if the Yanks are there at Xmas I think the protest has to be intesified. Posters saying support the squad are right but if these clowns try to cling on we can't sit on our hands. Hope the ED will give us some positive info ASAP.

04 Sep 2010 20:44:47
Ed did we not leave things bit late to bring in a striker on d-day? Or do we still have room in the squad for loan signings? Understand Roys ideal only to bring in players who will further the club-and is the money now avaliable to sign a top class striker in Jan-this is possibly the most important window in our history as our greatest assets want to see
the clubs intent on becoming a force with world class additions

Round Robben, if your scouse and class yourself as a Red here is a tip for you. Next time your near Anfield go visit the Hillsborough memorial (the flame burning will always remember the 96) and then the Hillsborough shop where you can donate to help the cause for justice. They will even give you the stickers that quite clearly say DO NOT BUY THE SUN!
Have some shame fella

RBS are cutting thousands of jobs. Hope it means they are going through a rough patch and there's no chance they are going to refinance the loan again.
By the way, Ed, who's better - off: Hicks or Gillette? What are the chances of one of them buying out the other? Just thinking about it makes me feel suicidal. .
Red Herring

04 Sep 2010 16:39:43
Hi guys,

Why is it that more people would choose to believe the rumour that we will sign messi rather than the jenas one! Are people dillusional or just takin the piss! Jenas sounds like a very possible bit of business come January!

04 Sep 2010 16:25:31
ED. .

Would any off the star players at the club have been given the heads up on takeover so as to keep morale and motivation etc up?

Actually we had a one million pound bid accepted for Messi in the last transfer window but he failed his medical, so the deal fell through.

Lfc to sign messy 300mill plus 50 add on Whoever said this must be joking! It's 300 million plus Babel whom Guardiola rates very highly.

Liverpool takeover - Is Keith Harris' 'The Man in the Sand' still Nasser Al Khorafi, a member of the powerful Kuwaiti family?
Or is Mr Harris now representing someone else, possibly Larry Ellison or a Prince from Saudi Arabia in acquiring Liverpool FC? (Al Waleed bin Talal Al Saud).
Is Amanda Stavely who 'set up' the Man City takeover now working for Sheikh Maktoum in his continuing pursuit of LFC?
What of the rumours of Peter Kenyon representing one prospective bidder. Which one? Anybody know?

04 Sep 2010 15:36:08
Ed, realistically, how long do think it will be before the takeover happens?

EDITOR'S NOTE: There are only 4 people who can give you an exact answer to that,personally I think the deal will be In place and funds in the kitty for jan}

I think most people that come on here would watch Sky RENTS 07 but if this helps i've got Virgin Media so i'm a Richard Branson man so my subscription fee goes to him and not directly to the Anti Christ/ Rupert Murdoch.

So when i watch an LFC match on my Vrgin Media set top box i watch it with a clear conscious.

Well all those rumours about getting a new striker by the deadline were clearly B.S as were many others. Having said that, i can see a top striker come in the Jan transfer window as we would have been taken over by then. I really, really think its gonna be Aguero as we need someone young, good, and who wants to play for us. Another player i think we will get is Arda Turan. Also, am i alone when i think the buys/ loans etc made by "The Hodge" so far are temporary quick fixes till the real money comes in?. I really hope so!. Hit believable to agree & un-believable to disagree. P.S the Sun sucks D*ck.

Like a lot of fellow supporters, I am extremely worried about the deafening silence on the potential takeover situation.
Am I being too cynical but are G & H staging the whole process to buy more time.
Does anybody know how many bids (if any) are on the table and who they are from.

I have to disagree with you, it is the silence that gives me the most hope, when things are going bad or when potential bidders are pulling out, the news is full of it but this silence leads me to believe that things are going smoothly!

All this Fowler / Owen, Fowler will always be known as GOD and Owen now will be known as a dirty Manc! Michael Owen's football ability was second to none when at the club, but after nurturing him from a boy and making him the player he became, Liverpool deserved more respect than him to leave for such a small fee! And after years in the wilderness signs for the Scum! Not in a million years would you of seen Robbie in a Scum shirt. Someone mentioned him moving to Leeds, at the time Robbie was pushed out by the management at the club! When GOD returned for the 2nd coming, I don't think any player throughout the history of Liverpool would of been welcomed back more than Fowler did! Under good management Fowler would of been one of the best strikers of all time, even with a torrid time with injuries throughout his career managed to score were ever he played! In my opinion and I think most LFC fans opinions would rather have Fowler in his prime over Owen in his prime.

Torres is some spainish foreigner who is over paid, over sexed and over here,

The whole game is messed up. Rooney is a scouser that plays for Manchester utd.

Their use to be a time when people from liverpool represented their local club and i refuse to believe that an english person can play to the same level.

we have just gotten so reliant on johnny foreigner,

some of you prob need torres to do your Mrs cause you havnt got a pair.

If our beloved club is not sold before jan then we can forget about players like torres because we will never be able to keep them I do believe that he wants success more than any current player at lfc (apart from carr and stevie (legends) )at the moment but unless we are taken over then he will leave he will have is own ambitions you can't knock the lad loyalty is not in question he is still hear (how many star strikers would of stayed with a 7th placed ) unless we compete he will leave without improvement we can't

Just a note to the editor, whilst i agree with much of
the sentiment about owen, he didn't leave us on a free! he knew madrid wouldn't pay the £20 mil we would of got for him (at that time) & so ran his contract down so we had to take a much lower offer!
i doubt very much his big england pal beckham who was at madrid at the time had anything to do with it or his agent! ! ! ! good luck to carra 2moro! hope all reds get behind a real legend of our great club! thanks for your service lad!
