hi eds not really a rumour more looking for help on purchasing tickets for the tie with rangers. I'm from glasgow and can easily get tickets for the rangers end as my mates are season ticket holders but i was wondering how a could get a hold of tickets for the liverpool end? last time a had to sit in the rangers end cheering the 4 goals we scored. mates were not best pleased along with the other gers fans haha. any info would be much appreciated.

Ed, do you know the reason we are playing Rangers mate?

Thanks.....

Blair Mayne YNWA

Ps. I'm using my new phone mate IP different but email is the same. {Ed001's Note - as far as I know it was just a gap in the schedules with a chance to get a few players back to full fitness.}

This could be a good chance to get Glen a much needed game. And Gerrard could benefit from it too. Do you think Agger could get a game, or is it too soon?

Thanks...

Blair Mayne YNWA {Ed001's Note - if his recovery goes well he is likely to get some time on the pitch to test it out. I do believe it is Gerrard and Johnson that are the reasoning behind the match though. We are at a difficult stage with Gerrard, in particular, he needs to play to get fit, but he needs to get fit to play! Tough one with a player coming back from an injury like his, there are often niggles in other areas as they try and compensate.}

Ed001 you say that chanting is disgusting about disasters which i agree but wasnt it disgusing ten years ago.

I just think it is double standards that it as been going on for so long then all of a sudden they are making a big thing of it.

Mighty reds {Ed001's Note - I don't follow your point? This isn't ten years ago, and it is about time something was done, we should just be glad it is, better late than never after all!}

Yh but gerrard alongside lucas. but with the freedom to express himself.

Coates isn't ready to play against a big side yet. Hopefully he'll play against Stoke or Norwich, but not against United, its too early.

Id rather see coates than carra, united will rip carra to pieces

Carra has seen better days . hope your manager eases him out before ye turn on him

BEFORE we turn on him?

Hi eds just a question about what as been made of the chanting going on at grounds. This as always been going on for years fans chanting about Hillsborough, hysel, munich, leeds fans in istanbul, adebayor and more.

I am not saying i agree with it but its not exactly a new thing so why the big thing about it now. Also do you see fans being banned for it now without any warning?

Thanks
Mighty reds

{Ed001's Note - because it is disgusting, the fact that it has been going on for years just makes it worse. It is about time anyone caught chanting about Munich, Hillsborough, Heysel, the Leeds fans stabbed in Turkey, those sickening chants about Adebayor etc etc were banned for life. I do think the time will come when it does happen, or they will end up with no one wanting to take their kids to games.}

Just playing devil's advocate ed, but where would this cctv monitoring in the grounds stop ?
The game's becoming almost non-contact these days, does the crowd have to become sanitised as well ? Where do you draw the line - Munich chants ? Swearing ? Telling the ref he's a ******* ?
The Real KB {Ed002's Note - It is there already - plus television pictures.}

I might give up watching football if I can't call the ref a *******

I think to get the 3Pts against Utd we need to set up with an attacking formation. Then Attack, Attack, Attack.

I would love to see this team selection if Johnson and Agger are available after recovering from injuries.

****************REINA******************

******CARRA*****SKRTEL*****AGGER*******

***********LUCAS*****ADAM*************

JOHNSON********GERRARD*********DOWNING*

********SUAREZ*********BELLAMY*********

Bench: DONI, COATES, KELLY, ENRIQUE, KUYT, HENDERSON, CARROLL

I think we'd murder them in the "Midfield Battle" and win 2-0, 3-1.

When we're on the defensive, Johnson could revert to RB and Agger LB with Downing tracking back to double up on Nani (The F*nny).

On the attack Lucas and Adam can play a more cental role instead of defensive and leave Gerrard to roam behind the strikers!

The bench allows for a diverse formational and tactical change should we go into the break leading.

Chipkin9 (Eire)

PS: Would be nice if one of you eds posted this at my 3rd time trying, I went to the bother of writing it.

I don't mean to sound "pushy" or "discontent", but there's not exactly a torrent of posts coming through, so what is the problem with my post?

Again i'm just wondering, and eager to hear what people think.

Good day to you all.

No Enrique ?

Sorry mate but with 3 players at back rooney, nani, young and chicharito are gonna run you into the ground

I would go with that pal looks our best 11 as far as I'm concerned

Chris in Tamworth

Young and Nani would tear that team apart, be realistic, you need 4 in defence plus Lucas as DM.... I'm hoping for a great game of end to end entertainment, hopefully no injuries but I do think this game could get nasty at times.... HERBIE

Looks like a good line up , but i want to see Carrol tormenting and out-muscling Ferdinand and co.
Dara D

Personally I'd prefer us to set up with 3 central defenders and allow Enrique and either Johnno or Kelly to push up and support the midfield consisting of Henderson Adam Lucas and Downing, Gerrard would then be a Support Striker and Suarez upfront and then when Gerrard comes off which im sure he will then Carroll can terrorise a shattered defense with his strength and opposing playing style. It might sound defensive but in actual fact the 3rd central defender allows you to be more attacking. I'm sure that Napoli use this?
RustyNigels

Right well, johnsons not fit. And IF your going to insult the eds then please post a name.

Realistic red.

I don't reckon Agger will be fully fit, so it has be Enrique in there instead- and my worry is Downing might not track back enough to cover that area enough, so we may be vulnerable there.
Adam or Lucas will have to help out more- but I did like the way we played with a 3-5-2 against Chelsea.

I like the idea but Agger and johnson won't be fit......maybe agger if were lucky may play a part, but United are a fast team and if we went on an all out attack United will simply blitz the back three -McMenemy

There are a few teams I'd actually like to see. My personal favorite would be an attacking 4-3-3.

Reina

Kelly - Carra - Skrtel - Enrique

Gerrard - Lucas - Adam

Kuyt - Carroll - Suarez

OR a classy 3-5-2

Reina

Carra - Agger - Skrtel

Kelly - Enrique (Wing backs)

Kuyt - Gerrard - Downing

Suarez - Carroll

OR second half vs United

Reina

Kelly - Carra - Agger - Enrique

Kuyt - Gerrard - Lucas/Henderson Bellamy

Suarez - Carroll

RenegadeRed

RenegadeRed your second team looks great.

Mcemeny (spelt that wrong)

I somewhat agree that those players would see an opportunity to cause havoc, but I disagree they would "blitz" us and argue that the 3-5-2 system easily reverts to a 5-3-1 or 5-4-1, I think we're more than capable of shutting utd out with a 3-5-2 :)

********

"Right well, johnsons not fit. And IF your going to insult the eds then please post a name."

Realistic red.

*****

Who's this no-namer insulting the eds? I need to get on to them.

Chipkin9 (Eire)

I agree chipkin9, I just feel that if yu are to play the formation it would need to perfected, yes it does easily revert to 5-3-1 but if we were caught napping or someone was lazy it could lead to us being at a disadvantage. I do like the formation it is similar to the Chelsea away game last season which stopped Chelsea from making an attack.

what if you tried

-----Carra-Skrtel-Agger
Kelly-------------------Enrique
-----------Lucas
--Bellamy--Gerrard--Downing
-----------Suarez

This would be more defensivly solid but sacrifices a man upfront but bellamy could easily get up to fill this posistion
-McMenemy

My apologies.

Realistic red.

--------------------reina
-----------carra---skrtel---agger
-johnson-----lucas----adam-----enrique
--------------------gerrard
------------kuyt-----------suarez

this team 100% looks solid

does anyone else feel that we are being left behind by a lot of clubs in Europe in terms of scouting in Japan? Japan for the past 5 years has been the king of the Asian nations football-wise and all of their teams are willing to sell very cheap, which is actually hurting the J-league a lot but whilst we have the chance why don't we make a few of these so called 0 yen transfers. Look at players like Honda and Kagawa who would now cost in the region of £15m+ yet moved from Japan for next to nothing. As a watcher of the j-league i can assure you that there is a lot of talent to be had there and it actually annoys me to see to see us linked with Kagawa (dont get me wrong i would love to see him come to Anfield) when we should be looking at players who are still playing in Japan. Just my thoughts :)
RustyNigels

When i was a nipper we went scouting in the lake district dunno bout Japan tho would cost a fortune flying out all the tents and kit etc

The REAL KB before PNE'S ground was all done up, they had a Kop behind one of the goals that was ancient. It had a litte bit next to it called the Spion Kop but as a kid thought all stands on all grounds had a Kop end, obviously as i got older i realised this wasn't the case . And with you saying about a Lancashire regiment fighting in that war it makes sense PNE having one with 2 army barracks within a mile of the ground. Well you learn something knew everyday. Thanks for that. Jonson6

Hiya mate. The English Press went to great lengths to glorify the Boer War, despite it being a very difficult campaign for the British Army. Hence the glut of Spion Kops around grounds, in the north especially where many of the troops were from in that particular battle.
Just for interest, my old man and his dad were stationed at Preston in the Loyal Lancs Regiment, which has now been disbanded.
The Real KB

Spion Kop was a battle in the Second Boer War on 23“24 January 1900. (My Regiment fought in it and Carries South Africa 1900-1902 on it's Colours as a battle honour.) The actual Spion Kop was a long rise of ground and the use of Spion Kop or just Kop was subsequently used by British soldiers to describe large embankments. That then led to it being used to describe the banked surroundings of football (and rugby) grounds. RED LENIN

Tsunami Warning for Merseyside !!!!!!!!!!. Stand by for torrents of self pity from the people running the little club and have very short memories and selective vision, oooooooooooooops here it comes !!!!!!.
"Pity for the fans , pity for the blues , pity for the people who paid to see 11 v 11".
Did anyone else both see and hear from numerous sources about the tackles thrown in and ignored by the referee on Saturday which were judged by many to be red card tackles ?
Please spare us the hypocrisy you little people at the little club. Shut up now and spare your blushes !
It should have been much worse, but I am pleased Rodwell was cleared, but the technique was flawed Jack !

How dare you call Everton a small club! Everton are a massive club one of the giants of the game like BARCA or JUVE. When you ask a foreigner about English football they all say UTD LIVERPOOL ARSENAL and EVERTON. Everton have won loads of trophies and are ranked as one of the most successful clubs in the globe.

Everton are only struggling at the moment cos we have no money and not many supporters but we ARE A MASSIVE CLUB!

Dont Buy the Programme

What are you trying to say!. Your post comes across as a drunk crack addict, who has just discoverd Ryan Giggs and Ashley Cole in his bedroom, discussing 'ball tactics' with his wife.

Agreed with the everton fan. They are broke, a similar problem we were in that long ago.

Liverpool fc first, Liverpool city second.

Realistic red.

Let's not get into this big club small club thing again. Everton are a big club. They are a "sleeping Giant". We should all be proud that we have two great clubs with tradition in Liverpool. Everton may not have the global support that LFc do but put them alongside the rest of the Premier league and others in the UK and they have a great tradition. Personally, I think Rafa lost a lot in the translation calling them a small club.

Let's be proud to have both clubs on merseyside and support the home of football in the UK?

Iggypop

This is a 'Banter' site, do we need to be so gentle with people who show such venom at our team, and chuck their family heirlooms(!) onto the pitch as missiles ??

For a club of Evertons current ability, they have a rather large fan base I'd say.

Can I ask what use might think is a stupid question lol, what does the KOP mean? I have asked people but they all give different answers !

I read somewhere it has somethind to do with Africa and "Spoin Kop hill".

Chipkin9 (Eire)

Named after a battle / hill (Spion Kop) in the Boer war ca. 1900.

The battle of the spion kop in the Boer war gives the name, as the steep terrace of the football stand shows a resemblance to the hill, called the spion kop, where British and Boers fought. Given the age of the Anfield stadium, the date of the Boer war and the likelihood that many local lads fought there, the name was probably adopted to honour those who fought. Incidentally, there are many European stadia that also use the name "the kop" although I doubt any are as well known as Anfield.

There was a Lancashire Regiment involved too I think, with a lot of lads that came from the Liverpool area. They suffered a lot of casualties in the attack up the Spion Kop Hill.
The Real KB

Same as birmingham city, many locals fought there, not sure now? but they used to have zulu warriors on the front cover of their programmes due to a battalion of locals that also fought the zulu's

I saw a history channel documentary about the battle a while back. It's an amazing story.
At the end both sides surrendered!
We withdrew overnight and in the morning the boors were packing up their stuff to leave and realised we'd already gone.
Duckula

To the anonymous post about birmingham its also why the fans are called zulu warriors. its also why blues are one of only a few teams that the kop stand is not behind the goals. im not sure whether anfield had the original kop end but it was the first major one and arguably the most famous stand in the world.

GMN

I get the birmingham thing, a group of their fans 30 + go to natal every two years, play football and mix with the locals apparently its an amazing two weeks

It was a journalist who had been at the boer war and then later at anfield who first called it the spion kop - it is indeed named after a hill in the boer war where the lancashire regiment(full of scousers) took the hill lost it won it again and the retreated over 3 days and nights of fighting - many men lost their lives. when the journo went to anfield and saw the cinder hill behind the goal he reported it remided him of the the spion kop and the name stuck. We were he first to name a stand as the KOP and we are certainly the most famous of KOP's in the world and besides that we are the BEST KOP and as far as many are concerned there is ONLY ONE KOP

bigg2966

There is also the Bill Shankly Kop at Deepdale:) and as an interesting side fact Winston Churchill was a courier during the Battle Of Spion Kop
RustyNigels

Hi there.
'Spion' is Afrikaans for spy, and 'Kop' means head in english. Though Kop also refers to a small hill, we would call that a 'Koppie' here in South Africa.
As so correctly and eloquently explained by the other Reds fans, it dates to a famous battle in the Anglo-Boer war. The Boers are farmers and originate from the Dutch settlers who arrived in Cape Town in 1652.
I am truly impressed my fellow Reds, we are clearly the most knowledgeable and informed fans around.. You do us all proud.

Ed, apologies if you've already answered this, are Everton going to be subject to an FA investigation over the crowd behaviour (throwing coins & bottles as Bellamy was trying to take a corner)?
There is an image on the sky sports site showing Carroll just after he scored, behind him is a section of Everton fans, You can see the bitterness & vitriol pouring out of them as they shout & gesticulate literally a few meters away from the big man. The only thing he had done to merit this behaviour was his job, to score a goal. If this was to happen outside of a football ground would this be considered acceptable? I would class it as antisocial behaviour. Thanks Ed

Craigo {Ed002's Note - Everton will already be working with the police to identify offenders and will no doubt take direct action. Such mitigation will already have been explained to the FA. Any FA investigation depends on what teh referee's report says and then subsequent discussions. I expect that action will be taken. I am afraid bitterness and vitriol will not be taken in to account.}

Thank duck for that! If bitterness and vitriol were illegal I think a lot of us would be in trouble.
Certainly I would.
I still hold a grudge from nursery school! AGAINST A NUN!

Stupid bint. Some kid chewed up his biscuit and spat it in my glass of milk, and this dappy nun FORCED me to drink it. Smacked me on the hand with a ruler about 5 times until I did.
Being bitter is a human right as sacred as being happy.
Duckula {Ed001's Note - nuns are all evil and should never be allowed near children! I put it down to sexual frustration myself.}

Ed, you're making me chortle again!

I would expect bids for all the players you listed to be made according to the press, then posters will ask Ed002 if a bid was actually made, Ed002 will give an accurate (best of knowledge) response, a which point posters will abuse Ed for not giving the response they wanted. I can't wait.

Tom Werner on ground share.

Liverpool have ended any prospect of a groundshare with rivals Everton, with chairman Tom Werner declaring it a "dead issue".
"Our supporters are not for it, therefore it is a dead issue," Werner is quoted as saying in the Daily Mirror. "We have been told countless times they have no desire for us to share a stadium and we have listened to that.
"Everyone knows the two options we are examining - staying at Anfield or a new build on Stanley Park - and we do not want our fans to be disappointed."

He said: "People can say what they want about how long a decision takes but we're still optimistic of finding the right solution."

Sorry for the copy n paste ED`s.

If we hit 20 points after 10 games, I'll be happy. It means we are on track for top 4. Our next 3 games:
Mancs (h) draw 1pt
Norwich (h) win 3pts
WBA (a) win 3pts
Of course a home win against mancs means 2 more points = 22 points that will be the icing on the cake

SingRed
p/s and beat Stoke at their home to get into the qtr finals of the Carling cup and extract revenge for the defeat!

I know what you mean SingRed, but don't start planning that we'll have this many or that many points after certain matches.
You should know the Prem League by now. You get bitten in the a** when you least expect it.
Game by game mate. I'm praying that all our players come back off the international matches unscathed for the moment.
The Real KB

Got your point, KB. Kenny also says one game at a time, but when we have an objective, setting markers will help us stay on course.

Looking at the next few games, 20pts is certainly achievable. Fergie regularly sets targets - how many pts needed by Christmas, how many pts to win

SingRed

In no way shape or form am I discounting your post we have the most knowledgable fans in the world but we are gonna take it one game at a time and at the end of the season we will add up the points and see were we are. At this club we always say the most important game is the next one and if the lads show the same commitment they did at Goodison and we get a wee bit of luck well be alright.

Lets just win every game from here on out. Simples.

Of course fergie sets targets,he has to let howard webb know what he needs, jimmybosun,

Hai Guys...and Eds...Great Site..
Watched the game with full fun....we were simply brilliant...suarez, carrol, lucas...Enrique..all chipped very well..
i was really happy when KK put bellamy and Gerrard in...that made alot of difference...Bellamy his pace is brilliant...Kuyt, he should start in big games...
All were Excellent...Now looking forwad to Manu game...we should not relax and sit...need to attack from the word go..with thousands of KOP behind..we should just kill them in the first half itself...
we know man u will play 4-4-2 formation..so gerrrard and lucas will be enough to win the midfield battle...carrol should start with his height..he will win most of the balls..Also we should introduce..bellamy every game...which makes us even fresher.
We should only see off Spurs...It will be liverpool vs spurs for the CL spot..

Now january Targets...

4-4-2 wont work against the mancs, they are too quick we should adopt a 4-3-3 like Norwich and Barca who both give them a run for their money. We have the players to did it so why not?

Ed do you know why were having a friendly with Rangers in the next 2 weeks (inbetween league games)? Do you think many first team players will play? Thinking of going

SteLFC {Ed009's Note - I would have to say it will probably be a mix of first team squad members (such as Maxi, Kuyt, Robinson, Flanagan, Spearing) and youth players.}

It must be Liverpool's way of helping Rangers out of their overdue tax problems.
The Real KB

I thought we were more pro Celtic and happy if Rangers folded?? Confused?

When I was on the Kop the Rangers/ Celtic chant use to be even,But please lets not start a religious debate.

To the poster above - I recall the Celtic / Rangers chants. just used to spring up for about 30 seconds and then die down again. Alternate Celtic chant sung by some, Rangers chant by others. At the time (mid-late 80s) there was a big thing on Merseyside with half Liverpool, half Celtic or Rangers bobble hats. Everton had them too.

Looks like Chelsea are about to build a new 60-65000 seater stadia ( depending on reports ).
It just makes you wonders if theyll plan, build, move in before we make a decision about ours!.
If Chelsea make a state of the art 65000 and Spuds make a 60000 stadia, with Arsenals 60000 superb stadia then Liverpool must at least make a 70000 seater because I believe we are still a bigger and better club

Spurs are restricted they average 36,000 @ home, they have officially 34,000 on a season ticket waiting list and another 12,000 that can't see the point of joining that list due to the wait, that's if they could build it a 80,000 plus stadium, would they fill it? Probably 90% of the time, info, metro

Metro is about the most pro Londan rag you can wipe your apse on - massive pinch of salt. {Ed002's Note - It is not so much pro-London but a London paper. As for filling a 90k seat stadium, there is a matter of logistics that means that is simply not going to happen in London. The costs of building, policing, transportation improvements etc. would be prohibitive unless there were ground shares.}

I think Chelsea fans should be looking at the court case involving Ambramovich abd Beresovsky and understanding where Ambramovich comes from. This story in todays papers about a new ground is designed to take eyes away from the court case as it will very embarrasing for chelsea nd Ambramovich.

Spot on ed2, spurs are very restricted which its why levy tried for the olympic site, they (spurs) do have an enormous waiting list, they know they could fill an 80, 000 stadium for most if not all home games, it's strange that due to the riot, the local harringay council are now willing to listen to the npp to increase the site to 70, 000 to help rebuild the community, btw ed2 it's nice to hear your points of view , your honest, unbiased with a dry sense of humour! Such a shame a certain other ed couldn't follow your example instead of resorting to poyet biassed comments, ed 2 keep up the good work

Just to point out, stadia is the plural of stadium.
I'm quite certain Chelsea wont be building more than one 65k stadium
Jacob red

Lol i can say for sure now spurs cannot fill 70,000 sorry mate, where did this support come from for tottenham? most of the fans that support them are outside of that area. if any of those clubs besides man utd can fill that sort of amount or more its liverpool fc, upto 100,000 on the waiting lists straight from ian ayre. Just more of a comment. I think it has been so good to see progress within the club over the last 12 months. Going back to the start of last season we were all still talking about 2 players, Gerrard and Torres. If those two were not in the team then we were failures. Fast forward a few months, Stevie G has been out injured and Torres has gone. We have been talking about a bundle of different match-winners now and not just that we are a 2 man team anymore.
Suarez, Adam, Downing, Bellamy, Kuyt.....even our left back has been thrown into the ring for contributions to goals. It has been refreshing to talk about Liverpool in a different light and lets hope it continues.

i know this isnt liverpool related but, look at the germans young talent compared to englands..

gomez(26)
podolski(26) - ozil(22) - gotze(19)
khedira(24) - schweinsteiger(27)
badstuber(22) - boateng(23) - hummels(22) - lahm(27)
neuer(25)

Should be on the conspiracy page :)

Is lahm , not like 36 or something........lfc

Swings and roundabouts mate.
Although even when the Germans were rubbish, they had a knack of getting results when it mattered.
Bayern Munich look to be on the rise again as well.

Hi peeps!

I know that we're still a work in progress. I mean, how many other teams in the top flight have half 1st team that's been at the club less than a year?

Despite that, we'v done pretty decently and i'm happy with the progress we're making.:-)

I think enrique is turning out to be a great singing. He looks like the best leftback we've had since... I can't even remember since when. He's prob right up there with the best leftbacks we've had in the last 2-3 decades. Good buy.

And is it juz me or does martin kelly's play remind anybody else of rob jones? Ok, robbo was prob a bit better at technique but other than that, quite similar, dun u think? I juz hope kelly's injury issues get sorted once and for all. Hope he doesn't suffer jones' fate. If rob jones' career hadn't been ended so early by injury so early, he would've been england's 1st choice rightback all the way thru the 90's and beyond. Gary neville would never have had a chance against jones.

Anyway, hope everybody comes back safe from the internationals.

I juz keep having this feeling that andy carroll is coming into a bit of form. Started feeling this before the everton game. Hope he keeps scoring. Esp against the noiser neighbours of the noisy neighbours.

Everton took the spoils in the 214th Merseyside derby as they piled the misery on their struggling neighbours at Goodison Park.

Goals from Tim Cahill and Mikel Arteta ensured the Blues secured their first league derby win for over four years.

Cahill's emphatic finish opened the scoring before the break and Mikel Arteta's sweet strike early in the second half ensured Liverpool remain in the relegation zone with just six points from their opening eight games.

What a difference a year, new owners and a new manager makes.

LIVERPRES

New players have helped too

cozinoz

Agreed cozinoz - but without new owners and Kenny, those players wouldn't be here. Either would Pepe and probably Stevie.

I think Kenny realised after the thrashing we received against the spuds that he's got to field players like Kuyt for the bigger games. Hendo was almost anonymous in the game vs spuds. He's still learning about the way we play whereas Kuyt's energy, workrate and all-round better understanding with Suarez and Stevie will be crucial vs the mancs and chavs.

SingRed

So true SingRed. i think we need to play the same formation we played aswel. 451
4: kelly, carra, skrtel, enrique
5: kuyt, spearing/gerrard(if ready), lucas, adam, downing
1: with suarez upfront

the reason i go with the trio of spearing, lucas and adam is because i dont feel lucas and adam works well enough together to dominate the middle like spearing, lucas and meireles did towards the end of last season.

Terrible formation/selection.

Explain why its a Terrible formation/selection?
Red&Bred

My team v the scum.
Pepe
4. Kelly. Skirtal. Carra. Enrique.
2. Lucas. spearing.
3. Kuyt. Suarez. Bellamy
1. Carrol

Subs..Doni,coates,maxi,Adam, Downing

I'd leave hendo out for this one, but no doubt Kenny will play Adam with Hendo on the bench and leave spearing out.

TIZER RED

I forgot about Stevie, I'm that used to him being out.
TIZER RED

Terrible both of youas both of you are without a keeper. (Whyyyyyyy, so seriouss)

Lets take a look at this

---------------Reina-----------------

kelly ---- Carra --- Skrtel ---- Enrqiue------
-----Lucas-----Gerrard-------
-Henderson------Suarez------Downing--
----------------Carroll-------------

Imagine, Suarez playing off Gerrard from the behind and from the lay-off and space from Carroll stretching Vidic, Jones away.

With Downing giving Valencia a run for his moeny with trickery for 60 mins and then Bellamy running riot with his pace.

With Suarez and Gerrard in the midfield for creativity and Lucas for the dirty work, rooney would have to be suicidal to play upfront deep in the third half leaving fat anderson and Fletcher to handle Suarez and Gerrard.

Kelly could match the pace of young and Henderson could stop Evra coming into advanced positions. However, the glitch would be if Young begins to drift inside and the stupid crazy runs of Hernandez behind the back 4.

I would love us to play this formation if Gerrard is fit else put Adam there and let Suarez do the mesmerizing. I bet after the last beating at Anfield by Suarez, they will b man marking Suarez

Terrible both of youas both of you are without a keeper. (Whyyyyyyy, so seriouss)
second one had pepe
Adam beside Gerrard and Kyut for hendo, then your good to go
Jay

Hey, Jay,

Without Lucas, Adam cannot do the dirty work, I think and I would shield Gerrard from tackling as he recovers from injury. Thats why Lucas is a must allowing Gerrard to roam forward in an advanced role while he sits on the back 4. With Adam, Gerrard must check his position which would eventually end both the players at the same line on the pitch (like at WHL with Lucas and Adam).

As much as I would appreciate the hard work of Kuyt but he would not be able to contain Young or make space for Kelly to move ahead and push Evra.

this is eventually just me thinking but definitely the KING knows better.

mgz

It's Kelly or Johnson's job to contain Young. Kuyt's role is to win the ball, push their defence, launch attacks and score goals. If winning the ball means helping out in defence he'll do it.

SingRed

If the RB contains only Young and Kuyt plays too advanced, it would leave a huge gap for Evra to come forward. With Kuyt, he likes to drift inwards a lot more than Hnederson that leaves the gap behind for Evra to exploit.

I love Kuyt as a player but the experience may count to nothing if he does not play on the line in this game restricting Evra to come forward.

'Attack is the best form of defence'

If both kelly and hendo are parked on the line, Young and Evra will have to think 90 mins to come forward

mgz

Heaven forbid we start a game without our best player - Lucas!!

From what i have seen this season i believe all the key components are in place for a excellent season. I will start from the back. We have a world class keeper in Reina, a good keeper is worth 12 to 15 points a season in my opinion, everything good starts from the back in football, his distribution is second to none, people often forget how important the goalkepper is to a team, and we can boast to have the best in the prem by some distance. I think Kelly's fitness is crucial, i cant remember him ever having a bad performance for us, he has all the hallmarks of an absolute classy defender, and who better to learn from than agger and carra, you can say what you want about carragher but this man seems to up his game everytime controversy comes his way, there is still some left in his tank and nothing would give me greater pleasure than to see him lift the prem cup. i must admit enrique has taken me by surprise, but what a signing, his strength is excellent and i read somewhere he turned down the oppertunity to represent his country in the olypics, he is rapid combined with the technical finesse of your archetypal spanish player makes his a steal at 6 mil, an absolute steal. Lucas needs no explanation, he has turned into a fine professional, and with time will add goals to his game, he has it in him, watch his gremio days, he is almost the complete midfielder. adam will only get better with better fitness and nutrition training, but most of all he has that left foot, an absolute wand of one, hes almost molby esque and has the potential to reach the heights of that man. Gerrard needs no introduction, we all know what a fully fit gerrard provides, lets pray he stays fit. downing has gone of the boil slightly, along with henderson, but both are excellent technical professionals, henderson partically with his cultured range of passing, hes kennys type of player, pass and move, let the ball do the work, he will be an asset in years to come. I really hope Caroll goal will kickstart his career here, he has all the attributes to suceed and with his recent performances i feel he will. the price tag is irrelevent, if he helps us get back into the CL he would have more than paid it off in my humble opinion, any team in the prem would love to have him in the ranks, regardless suarez is a 50 million pound player in his own right. lets not forget the squad players as well, spearing, kuyt, and the youth prospects have a vital role to play, having a refreshed and invigorated bellemy in the ranks is a major asset, he knows its his last chance, he is a quality performer on his day.
Kenny knows what hes doing, those who call for our youth to be chucked in, acknoledge the effects it has had on james vaughan for one, his extremly promising career has taken many a turn for the worse, with another injury to his knee for norwich, its such a shame to see such talented players go to waste through poor man managment, i just hope barkley for the sake of england doesnt go the same way under moyes.
Lets be optomistic but not too much, there is still plenty of work to do, we have had a few tricky games to start with, and the pool are notorious for picking up our form towards the end of the season, we are sitting so much prettier than last season, with a bench with many game changing players raring to perform for one of the biggest idols in the history of this illustrious club. keep the faith, ignore the media biased negativity, kenny is building a dynasty with the help of intelligent owners, everything from the academy onwards is working together in the right direction. with our commitment and support, a touch of luck in the right places and the 12th man, we can return this club to our rightful pedastal at the top of the game, in both class, dignity, pride and achievments, keep the faith lads! "Liverpool will always be in Man Uniteds shadow and SIR Alex Ferguson will put Kenny back in his place again as a joker. Anfield is a dump with no atmosphere."
----------------------------------------------------
Everybody knows who's chasing who. And I hope Alex Ferguson puts Kenny back in his place again, and you know what's that place? Kenny is King, remember? Fergie has to give his place back, because the throne of English football belongs to The King, and Liverpool.

Jack D.

I can confirm that for a period of 20 years since the early 80's, mancs have been chasing our shadows. Fergie's time is coming to an end but Kenny is yet to come to his prime. I'm confident Kenny will win more titles than Fergie
