Hi Eds,

I saw a post over the last few days about potential players that we didn't get (Ronaldo, Silva etc. ) and I wanted your opinion.

Do you think Ronaldo would have been the player he become had he joined us instead of Utd?

Now I'm not knocking us but by the same token in your opinion did we have the same level of coaches to bring out his ability at the time?

Believable1 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - No idea.}

04 Nov 2015 22:55:50
IMO Ronaldo is a fiercely ambitious player. He knows he has the talent and he wants to be regarded as the greatest. He would have made it wherever he had been IMO.

Idk why people think Gerrard will disrupt the club. c'mon he is a professional and so is Klopp and in fact so are all the players.
It's good that he is coming home!

Believable8 Unbelievable9

04 Nov 2015 18:59:26
Because he has an enormous reputation at the club, it can only take focus away from what Klopp is doing.

The way he played football does not suggest to me that he is of a particularly strategic or tactical bent, like Giggs for instance.

Agree10 Disagree6

04 Nov 2015 22:58:09
I don't think Gerrard will be allowed to disrupt the club.
Klopp is no fool. Gerrard will be welcomed on his terms and if he is being disruptive he will not stay long.

've just read Stevie might be coming back and training with the team until he goes back.

For me Stevie is the greatest Liverpool player. I know Daglish was top draw but he was before my time and we have had very good players such as Alonso, Torres and Suarez. But For me Stevie was magic at times he would change games on his own when no one else around him thought it possible. Didn't matter how bad it was he just kept on going. Milan 05 was truly magical. Stevies goal against olympiacos got us there adn the rest is history!

I can't see it being too disruptive, he's professional and a legend. It would be nice just having him involved with Liverpool for a bit!

Believable10 Unbelievable10

05 Nov 2015 02:24:27
why does he need to be involved? he left and whilst I'd love him back at the club in the future now is too soon. we have a new manager trying to instill a new philosophy and we don't need to disrupt that. if the club was his top concern he would stay away for the time being but its not - its about him. loved him as a player but stayed a year too long. Let klopp get what he needs to get done and then down the track we can think about introducing some sentiment by having legends more involved.

As an aside to the discussion on Gerrard returning for a spell:

Is there any consensus around whether doing your badges at a big club with top of the range facilities is actually the best thing (and for the sake of argument can we just assume that comparative to world football we count as a big club with top facilities)? Although I can see why it would be good, equally I can see value for the players being coached and the player learning coaching to work with a smaller coaching staff and less advanced facilities and, as they might say, learn from the ground up. Rather than discussing whether Gerrard should return to us to train and do coaching badges from an LFC perspective, is there an angle where him going to somewhere like Crewe (still professional level but no-where near the facilities or level) would actually be better for him?

No major criticism of Joe, but it's not really happened.

Most of us agreed it was Stevie's time to go, but think about it, if not for a few games.

Enough said.

04 Nov 2015 15:35:18
Sorry all, again football is about opinions, but for me there is a lot of Gerrard bashing.

For me he is second only to Dalglish in Liverpool's all time great players, and there have been some world class players .

He is one of the few players that has been able to grab a game by the scruff of the neck and literally win it for us, sometimes when we had poor players on his side. i know ed01 doesn't agree, sorry not trying to stir a hornets between us as we have known each other for a long time, and yes Ed01 is a good guy.

So can all the younger generation who haven't really had the joy of watching a Gerrard in his pomp, pipe down a bit.

Anyway he is not coming back to play, he is keeping himself fit for the new MLS season, one thing he is looking to do is get into coaching, who knows he may be good at it.

And if he is i would love nothing more than him being involved with Liverpool again.

Rant over.

Cheers

Spot on again Macca as you were with the info when you posted about Gerrards likely return a few weeks ago. I agree with your judgement of Gerrard, people have short memories and are judging him on his last 2-3 seasons with us which is totally unfair. He is and always will be a Liverpool legend.
Thanks for all the info, you made me one of the happiest men on the planet when you posted re our initial contact with CA. (I had wanted rid of Rodgers for months and was getting desperate) In the end I was over the moon we got Klopp.

Agree4 Disagree6

04 Nov 2015 17:23:31
As much as I agree that Gerrard, no matter what he's done around his career, is a legend. But I don't agree that it should afford him special dispensation to do things counter-productive to LFC now in footballing activites i. e. spend time on loan with us and have game time, train with us if his presence disrupts training etc. Gerrard was a great for LFC but the word 'was' today carries as much weight as the word 'great' in relation to footballing matters - he must now be put into the same category as our other greats both modern and historical such as Carragher, Hypia, King Kenny, Rush etc.

Agree5 Disagree2

04 Nov 2015 18:04:09
Sorry to harp on about this but I have been a fan, travelling home and away since 1971/2. I have seen loads of really great players playing and giving everything for our club. Stevie is just one of them. As a footballer for us, terrific and yes, I have seen all of the games when he pulled us out of the crap. But I have also seen Tommy smith play when injured, carra at his best, Ian Rush and the King himself. Many more who came and went. Crazy horse who ran himself into the ground, Hansen who played every week with a painful knee. Loads of them. None were legends to me yet I idolised them. True legends are shankly, Paisley and their like. Stop feeling sorry for someone who has earned a wonderful living and now found out that their time is up. Let them lose their legs somewhere else said a certain legend. Onwards and upwards and love our club.

04 Nov 2015 18:05:09
I really don't see why people would have a problem with him coming back to train, tbh. I don't see how he'd disrupt the dressing room by doing that, but even if he was going to, surely Klopp would be able to veto it. The suggestion that it'd be done without him being prepared to accept it strikes me as ridiculous.

I can accept a difference of opinion with regards to him playing, he didn't play well in the last season here. But imo, that was the cumulation of about 3 years of his declining running ability being mishandled by the management. He should've been moved forward and coached to be more calculated with his forward runs, rather moved back into a playmaker / defensive midfielder role that he was never completely suited to. When he announced his decision to leave, I still felt he had enough ability to contribute in an attacking role if used properly, and I still think that's the case.

Imo, the biggest obstacle to him having a few appearances when he comes back is the fact that we have three first team players + Teixeira who are all best played as attacking midfielders and he mightn't get much pitch time because of that.

So macca the little pop at the younger generation who didn't see Gerrard in is pomp? That makes them about 7, don't act like we don't know what were talking about.

If Gerrard wants to be a coach why doesn't he have to do it the hard way like everyone else? Why should he get straight into coaching at liverpool because he played well for us whilst getting paid enormous sums and trying to move to Chelsea or how about writing a book for even more money whilst the people who he is slagging off are trying to start there season?

He was a great player for us. Now is his time to move on to new pastures, he is just to bug to come back aswel, people like hendo need to be able to spread there wings without him and klopp doesn't want to have to worry about a sequel to stevies book of they don't get on.

Thanks Stevie but its a new time now! Good luck.

04 Nov 2015 20:50:56
Would he not be best learning from the best coaches, like Klopp etc.

Does it not help having him around when you are trying to sign players?

Also he is very well respected in the football world .

Just a question, what would happen if he coached elsewhere and became world class, would you then expect him to come back to us?

I don't think it creates any problems at all learning the ropes with us, and if he is not good enough we get rid or if he is he stays.

Cheers

Macca.

Paulo, I think the 'young' comment is perfectly justified. I'm a little older myself. It's only when you watched out football through the mid-late 90s that you realise what Gerrard did for the club from around 2000/01 (when he started to
Hit his stride) . You'd need to be a bit older to have the context.

Klopp has brought in more youngsters to the seniors and is looking to integrate them better, have them all spending more time together to create a 'club' feeling. Imagine how these youngsters will feel training with Stevie, having come through the ranks himself. I don't see how anything negative can come of this. He's an asset to club.

Gerrard:

Alot of people posting about the Gerrard story coming out today some for it and some against. What I've seen of Klopp he dosent look like a push over and dosent take no S**T off anyone, so why would he take it off Gerrard. It is only to train with the team so why would Gerrard have any input on how to manage the team etc? he is there to keep fit until the MLS league starts again. Would people be shouting for Gerrard if we ain't playing well most probably but we all know that he isn't that game changer he once was. Legend yes stay that way Stevie.

I don't see Gerrard's presence at LFC during the MLS break (for training or anything else) being anything except an unsettling event if it were to take place. Being a legend and loyal servant to the club and all is fine, but time has gone by and he needs to truly move on. Given what I have read about the undue influence he had while at the club, does anyone think he would not try to use it again, on either the training pitch or elsewhere? There's a new regime in charge, with a clearly defined new mission and objectives. After the initial admiring looks by the younger players, I foresee him being seen as an intruder by the other players. Again I will repeat that he was a spectacular player in his time, but for me, the "Gerrard Era" also reminds me of what LFC did not win while coming very close on several occasions.

Agree3 Disagree5

04 Nov 2015 21:12:30
Spot on, ra1969! Klopp might be a no nonsense coach but up against Stevie G, that is another issue due to his stature and rep. It will be unsettling not from the players or coaches, but from some fans and the media who would be hunting for inuendos and other lazy journalism stuff. it`s just attention we don`t need at the moment hence, i`m not for it.

Gerrard was a cracking player without doubt, only a fool would disagree with that. But I don't like this talk of him coming back (just yet) .

There was the whole circus about him going (rightly or wrongly), yes I was gutted to see him go - but a day comes for everything, I think truthfully it was good that he moved on, and we are / have moved on too, brining him back again would bring all that up again and potentially cause an upset in the squad. I would leave it especially with the way things are looking at the moment.

And about his book. good read in parts but gets tedious and very repetitive.

Hi Eds,

I wondered if you cared to comment on the impact of social media on fan opinions and the impact that can have on clubs. Twitter, Facebook, comment sections and sites like this are all a relatively new phenomenon and, for those who want to get involved, are a brilliant way of talking with like minded people about the clubs and sport they love.

However it does tend to promote extreme opinions, to make their point fans argue harder and harder until a club, player or manager is either brilliant or awful. Slowly this leads to a consensus where fans views are largely aligned. Although there are some dissenters most people on this site, and probably through the wider fanbase, believe that Klopp is a significant upgrade on Rodgers, Sakho and Lucas are two of our best players and Milner, Mignolet and Skrtel should be moved on. This is a perfectly reasonable viewpoint but I think 5 years ago we wouldn't see fans opinions aligned so clearly.

An example of the real world impact I think this can have was the booing of Van Gaal last night when Martial was replaced by Fellaini. In the past some Utd fans would be unhappy with Van Gaal but the majority would be content (Utd aren't flying but they haven't significantly fallen behind the early leaders) . Today Utd fans have come to a consensus that Utd under Van Gaal are boring and that they want a more attack minded coach. Again this is a valid opinion but it's not one I think the fans would come to naturally if social media hadn't prompted it.

I imagine the only managers in the league who are truly popular amongst their fan bases at the moment are Ranieri and Klopp. Pellegrini is a stop gap whilst City wait for someone better, Mourinho's had a breakdown, Van Gaal is ruining Utd, Wenger is a company man more concerned with balancing the books than winning things. Would Alex Ferguson have survived his early difficult years at Utd in the modern age?

Players must also struggle, many modern players are familiar with social media and will be aware about what is being said about them. These thoughts used to be pub talk but now every player can see when they're being praised or lambasted. A player must struggle to motivate themselves if they know they're being slagged off by the fans.

Ian Ayre has just said that Liverpool fans should keep tweeting as the club will listen to what's being said and, in principle, it's great that Liverpool have a resource for gauging fan opinion. But fans don't always know best and too much weight could be given to whatever the current consensus is. Last night Van Gaal's call was vindicated by the result but he would be receiving a lot of attacks today if he hadn't won.

Clearly social media is here to stay but I hope a balance can be found between like minded fans sharing thoughts and a breakdown in relations between club and fans.

Believable5 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - I do understand your point, but LVG would have gotten booed last night for that change anyway, and the consensus he is boring is not coming from social media, it is being led by the media. Paul Scholes is more responsible for that sea change in opinion that has led to the crowd turning, and he is doing that through traditional media. Social media does tend to give voice to the more extreme elements, especially those sites with no editorial input, which will revert to just full on abuse and worse at the drop of a hat.

I do think that a player being booed should be even more motivated, rather than demotivated, as Lucas was in his early days. Yes it brought him to tears in the dressing room, but it made him try harder in training and in the next game to prove himself. I think the problem is more the way players are such big babies being mollycoddled by everyone around them. They think they are above anything, more important than the clubs, and they need to be brought back to earth.

Having said all that, if it was me, I would prefer to see my players and staff stay off social media. Do your talking on the pitch, have pics taken and sign autographs when you bump into fans and pre and post match, but other than that, you don't need to 'engage' the fanbase as a player. The club should handle all the media obligations and run the social media aspects, only using players on a now and then basis to take part in it. The players should be kept well away from it and concentrating on their games.

As for the club listening to social media, that is fine, so long as the fans are not making the decisions.}

04 Nov 2015 14:39:39
I doubt Ayre would have said "keep tweeting" before Rodgers was sacked. He is only saying it now when the going is good.

Agree4 Disagree0

04 Nov 2015 14:54:13
In the situation of Felliaini and Lucas, I feel sorry for both. Felliaini is never a great footballer, he's there to 'cause problems' which is what he's good at. United shouldn't be needing to try and cause problems by physicality alone, they should be able to cause problems through talent, not saying a route one option is bad but Felliaini basically plays up front when you have the likes of benteke Costa bony and giroud doing the same job for the other teams, who are all clearly better footballers than Felliaini. I do think he's a bit of a elbowing tw*t but he's been given a job to do by the manager and he's trying to do it. I know they don't have any other options, which I think is van Gaals fault as they lost van persie falcao and Hernandez and replaced them with a Teenager and put the onus on an aging Rooney.

04 Nov 2015 15:27:17
Hey Ed1, you're obviously right about my Van Gaal example, that was just on my mind when I wrote my post. I'm interested that you think that negative feedback can be a motivator, I can see that some players would use it but I bet there are a few who would crumble as well.

Thanks for engaging.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - those that crumble are probably not strong enough mentally to win trophies anyway, to be honest. The banter between players is far worse than anything the crowd gives out and they need to be able to deal with that.}

05 Nov 2015 04:09:46
Ed001 is right Macca.

Life would be boring if we all agreed.

Gerrard, though a very good player has lost his legs and we should also move.

I agree that he is still better than number of current players in terms of passing and passion but will not suit the new style of play.

Inspite of all the ball playing talent, he comes across as someone who doesn't understand positional aspect of the game and his reliance on playing a particular position than understanding which is good for both the club and himself, I have never come to terms with.

His best season was playing on the right or right winger under Rafa where he score 15 or 16 goals. He was excellent there and I think we came 2nd that season behind MU.

We were all hoping that next season Gerrard will surpass the 15 goals a season mark and he comes out and says he wants to play centrally. Though it was a good partnership with Alonso but he failed to realize that it wasn't the best position for him and the team overall.

This is no dig at all. Just wished if he had overcome this personal preference for position, who knows what we could have achieved.

Coming to his role as assistant / coaching, I believe he has a long way to go and learn.

So best fit is not now.

Cheers.

No way should Jurgen Klopp entertain the idea of having Gerrard back, even if just for training.
Seems to be a great atmosphere among the players since Klopps arrival. Why spoil it by bringing him back.
Time for the club to move forward, and for Gerrard to ride off into the sunset and enjoy his millions!

In their prime who was the best? Lampard clearly performed better post 30's.

I always felt Gerrard was unfortunate especially for England in as much as he was such a good footballer he was very versatile and was used in different positions when Lampard was given Gerrards best position.
I think Gerrard would have been even better under a manager like Klopp, it's just a shame it's happened a couple of years too late.

Ed001 when you say gerrard could have been better. I remember you saying that he should have joined uo with jose as he would have taken him to another level. Was the reason why gerrard never truly fulfilled his potential due to him or perhaps management.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - it was because he was always being told he was great and allowed to do what he wanted. What he needed was to be driven on, like Rafa tried to do, to improve, so he worked to the kind of level Cristiano Ronaldo did, for instance. I believe Jose would have improved those aspects of his game that he needed most work on, his defensive awareness.}

04 Nov 2015 20:05:02
I think he needed a move due to being too comfortable after the champions league game, that he could do no wrong. I also think he needed more competition within his position and training. I jidt imagine him ripping it up in training between the age of 23 and 29 pomp time.

Have to say I'm with Ed1 on Gerrard returning. I wouldn't be as harsh but it does concern me.

We have a proven 'A Class' manager who is loyal and has stayed at his previous clubs for 7 years. I want Klopp at ours for that long but if Gerrard is any part of the coaching staff I fear for the clamour of fans and media saying give Gerrard a chance as manager every time our performances dip. Personally I don't want Klopp to have that over his head.

Also, is Gerrard coming back for the good of the club and team or for his own personal benefit? I think the latter but am sure he has no malice intended. It's time to move on methinx. Great manager, fresh ideas, fresh future. I still remember Souness being a fantastic player for us but i also remember what he did to our club as manager.
Meet on earth would we line up and train someone as Klopp's replacement when we could put effort into keeping Klopp here for the next 20 years.

Just a thought.

I don't think Gerrard would ever think of himself when it comes to Liverpool FC. Having him around would be great ecspecially what he does behind closed doors for the youngsters etc. I do get what you mean if our form dips people could start shouting for Gerrards name as people did for Dalglish and that didn't turn out well in FSG eyes. Is gerrard ready for management no way and i think he knows that. Can i see him trying to go over Klopp no not really in all honesty and what i have seen of Klopp so far i don't think he would stand for it. Would it be a bad idea on Klopp showing Gerrard what he knows about management and his philosophy in football? I personally think so.

I totally agree. We do not need gerrard back at all. Fine if he wants to work with the academy etc but should be nowhere near the first team at all. We need 2 stop looking back and look forward. Klopp in the present and the future, so let's forget gerrard. He was a great servant to the club and loved but we have moved on now. ive not read his book Ed001 so didn't know any of that. i retract my comment them :) why did he do that? was that a way of getting back at the club for treating him badly in his eyes?

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - because sensationalism sells and he was doing it to make money. I have not read his book either, nor do I have any intention of doing so. These kind of books are not really my thing. Especially as it is so carefully edited to give only his side and omit anything felt to be damaging to his image, but then it would not be possible to fit all that in one book.}

04 Nov 2015 13:53:56
I mentioned below I'd read some it on a bus journey to London, I'm about 60% of the way through it's a tough going autobiogrphy. Nothing grasps you.
I got the feeling that
-He picked the team almost at LFC in the later years
-He love himself (A LOT) the superlatives he uses for himself are very self indulgent.
-He can't stake a step back and assess if he's done something wrong.
-He clearly was responsible for some divides.
-Accuses referees of bias (Mike dean if I remember)
-If Gerrard has a knife for some one's back, he'll use it, and it's better to keep on his good side.

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed001's Note - Atkinson wasn't it? And yes, he is very full of himself, caused a lot of trouble and is not a nice guy at all, contrary to his public image. But, on the other side, he was great for us, at times, on the pitch, and that was what he was there for. It is the club that failed him, by letting him have so much power, if anything.}

04 Nov 2015 14:36:27
It might have been atkinson, the name escaped me when trying to recall, which is why i put the brackets around remembering.
I'll finish the book off, but it's really something I have a burning desire to do, found it just a bit dull really.

I didn't realise he was that much of an idiot! Was he generally liked by team mates eds or is that just an illusion? Are there some people that are glad he's gone and will be dreading it if he comes back? Cheers.

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed001's Note - he was liked by some and not by others.}

04 Nov 2015 17:42:22
Out of interest, I know Alonso probably loved him, but who didn't get on with him? Balotelli?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - Torres was the main one, as Torres wanted to spend time with his family and Gerrard felt he should be going out on nights out with the team. Carra and Gerrard are the main reason Torres got a sulk on.}

04 Nov 2015 19:37:58
Funnily enough he says he loved Suarez for his devotion to his family.

Atkinson is from my part of the world and a well known fan of Man Utd. Not that I believe it justifies any comments that would harm the club.

If what Ed is saying is true about SG, then i want nothing to do with him returning to the club. Only bad things can happen.

Morning reds,

Mid week loan update.

Ojo was an unused sub as wolves lost 1-0 to Bristol city.

Canos came on as a 70th minute sub as Brentford lost 2-0 to wolves.

Ryan Kent played for 70 minutes and opened the scoring as Coventry beat Barnsley 4-3.🏆

And that's your lot.

Just wondering if any of you guys are following Turkish football as I'd like to know how Lazar Markovich is getting on.
Hope he has a great loan spell and gets to a chance to break into the squad for us when he comes back.

He started off well, in fact very well. Had a goal and couple of assists. His pace has surprised a lot over there.
Currently out injured.

04 Nov 2015 09:23:38
He hasn't surprised anybody harry, he was injured for 3 weeks, played 2 games where he was subbed both games and got injuured again and now is out for at least a month. He certainlly has gained nothing from this loan so far! stop making stuff up to suit your arguments please.

Agree9 Disagree4

04 Nov 2015 09:33:00
I have been doing the loan updates so I have been following the player although not seen much of the football.

He is currently out injured which looks like it will keep him out until after the international break.

He is a regular starter for Fenerbache, playing often on the left of a front 3. Fenerbache are currently 3rd so the whole team and himself have to be playing well.

He has a couple goals and a few assists so he has settled into life nicely over there. Like Harry said his pace is a real asset as Fenerbache like to set up for the counter.

Agree6 Disagree7

04 Nov 2015 10:00:02
carra bro, are you sure about that? have you watched any of the games? because what i have seen is absolutley nothing special and he has played very few games, its not been a good loan so far imo. Mainly due to bad luck with injuries, but to say he is a real asset to Fenerbache as they like to set on the counter is not true at all, they don't play on the counter first of all but play a controling game, and they have been winning most games with or without him. Fernerbache is without doubt the biggest strongest team in turkey and Markovic won't make that big of a difference to them if his start continues, getting injured each time after making 3-4 apperances.

Hi Sabona,

like I said I haven't see much, just one game in europe and the game with galotasaray I think it was? it appeared they were playing counter that day but maybe that was just due to the strength of the opposition?

From doing the weekly loan updates I can confirm he has started quite a few games, I can dig out the exact figures if you want? so I used that as my basis for him playing well as I imagine you have to be playing decent to get in any team that is competing for the title.

However you sound like you have seen a lot more then me so I will take your word for it. It's a shame to hear as from following line ups, results etc it appeared he was doing quite well.

Agree0 Disagree3

04 Nov 2015 10:32:53
I have 3 maniac fenerbache fans as neighbours man! They really don't think Marko is all that, he has played less than half their games and has been on the bench for Serbia almost every single time he has been called up to the National team latley, before his move here he was a regular in the serbian national team. No need to pull the stats on how much he has played because i could do that in no time, i just thought i would take the word of Fenerbache fans over the word of Harry.

Agree5 Disagree1

04 Nov 2015 10:48:52
he has only played 7 games with 1 assist and no goals. 400 minutes in total, don't see where or how he has impressed or become an asset! As a matter of fact he is their 17th best player according to who scored. He has not scored for Fenerbahce, he scored a goal for Serbia in a friendly, that's maybe the stat you saw?

Agree4 Disagree1

04 Nov 2015 10:52:52
and just another thing carra mate, all his games for fernerbahce so far has been on the RW. Not one on the LW where Nani is the LW.

Ah ok that's fair enough, manic fans know best.

Where abouts do you live over in Turkey?

Agree1 Disagree1

04 Nov 2015 11:06:32
I don't live in Turkey mate, my neighbours are a Turkish family from Istanbul, The dad and 2 brothers love Fenerbahce while the mom and the other son love Besiktas. Anyways your updates are really good so keep them coming :)

Agree1 Disagree0

04 Nov 2015 11:41:09
Cheers, seems I need to brush up on my knowledge of some of the loanees though! I really thought his stats were better then that?! I was just answering off memory though and following up to close of 20 players it all becomes a bit of a blur lol. It probaly was the Serbia goal I was thinking off.

My honest opinion of Markovic is I don't think he will make it with us, Ok player yes, but pace is his only real asset which can only get you so far in the game. But with all players I hope I am proved wrong.

if the eds will let me mention it a really good resource for player stats is Transfermarkt. They have pretty good detail for pretty much every player.

I don't wanna add up anything further. I really like that player. Watched him during the days at Benfica. He was in the EL team of the year. He has all the attributes to succeed. He did show his glimpse earlier at Fenerbache.
Sabona is a new guy here and I could udnerstand all the excitement.

Cheers Muscatred,

I plan to write a more detailed loan update of the season so far when I get a chance. I will use that site for some more in depth info.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - wycout, scout7 and instatfootball might be more use. They are resources used by the professional scouting community mate.}

04 Nov 2015 14:02:06
yeah sure am the new guy here Harry, i have followed the site since the days of Woy and remember your posts inside out, how Mascherano has not been replaced and is world class, how alonso is the best player ever, how konoplyanka would be our savior, how kovacic is the new alonso because he plays for a Benitez team (Rafa plays with Casimero instead, weird that) how you Markovic is a winger, then not a winger, and how you always fail to understand what Lucas brings to the table, etc etc. Ed you ment wyscout right? wyscout 4 is pretty good!

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - shoot, yes sorry, I missed out a letter. I should have checked back as wycout is probably a completely different site! In this day and age of the govt checking up on everything we do online, I hope I haven't sent people to some kind of dodgy site.}

04 Nov 2015 14:47:38
Good, You kept tabs on all the proceedings here Sabona. Do well. On a very humble note, Alonso is the best player in his position and I have seen all three Lampard, Gerrard and Scholes play over the years.
I have watched Inter Milan over the years for mailny three players, Gurian, Icardi and Kovacic.
Kovacic is one gifted wonderful player, A true holding midfielder. I have given my views on Markovic time and time again. People doesn't get it. ( Robben has played behind the striker for Netherlands and on the flanks for clubs )
Konoplayanka is pretty much out and out direct winger. A free signing could have made a good impact at the club.

You could add couple more on my post.

1. I never jumped off my seat when Milner was signed.

2. Never slated BR for not playing the Diamond.

3. Not a big fan of Lucas, And I truly beliieve there are world beaters outside. ( One such player soon to grab the attention is Krychowiak at Sevilla )

4. Ibe will replace Sterling and is 10 times better than Sterling lols.

Good luck mate.

04 Nov 2015 15:47:58
Did you say that about Ibe or that was being said here by many Harry?

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Nov 2015 00:13:07
Gerrard could return to Liverpool - perhaps as a player - after discussions with manager Jurgen Klopp. (Independent)

Apparently, MLS clubs are only allowed so many journeys by plane so richer clubs do get an unfair advantage eith preparation. Gerrard is finding the travel, altitude, heat and humidity tough over there.

Believable0 Unbelievable3

{Ed002's Note - Gerrard will be paying his own travel as many players do.}

04 Nov 2015 02:38:15
Altitude? Carson is maybe a few hundred feet above sea level at best.

Agree2 Disagree0

04 Nov 2015 06:11:47
So Gerrard cannot deal with the heat, altitude and travel, but will have no problem with the pace, intensity of the PL? Sounds like excuses IMO and I hope if he comes back, it's only to train and not to play.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - it is as much about getting his coaching badges, you are required to work a number of hours in the role getting experience. He was doing that within the academy before he left, I would expect him to come back and do that, rather than play. Fabrice Muamba (who is coaching at our academy these days) certainly speaks in glowing terms of his positive effect on the academy youngsters while he was here, due to them seeing the possibility of breaking into the team enshrouded in his person.}

04 Nov 2015 07:44:51
I think it would help to have Gerrard involved in the academy side, if just simply to get the younger players a lift. He could also work on his coaching badges while with us, but what I do not agree with is us looking to the past again, and wanting him paying for us on a short-term deal. This is where I get the feeling people at the club, who still surely would have Stevie back, maybe try and clamor for his return, and pressure Klopp perhaps? I think Klopp is however a strong personality and will probably not stand for that sort of thing.

Agree1 Disagree0

04 Nov 2015 08:13:20
I didn't know muamba was at the club ed nice to see the lad back on his feet and still still doing what he loves football.

Agree3 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - he has been training to get into sports journalism as well, but it seems more likely his future lies in coaching, though he has been doing a fair bit of punditry work recently.}

04 Nov 2015 09:26:46
It'll be up to Klopp so I'll back him either way.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - It certainly won't be up to Klopp alone.}

04 Nov 2015 10:00:59
I thought FSG felt Gerrard had too much influese and not in a good way?

Agree2 Disagree1

{Ed001's Note - there are a lot of people within the club who feel that way.}

04 Nov 2015 10:09:31
So what are they doing trying to bring him back? It makes 0 sence. Even as a coach or to learn from Klopp, Klopp just joined he needs to focus on what's important, not babysitting Gerrard. I can't stand the huge egos sometimes, its depressing. Loves himself more than the sucsess of liverpool or what?

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - who said they are? Gerrard is trying to get back, not so much FSG trying to bring him back.}

04 Nov 2015 10:16:57
I really feel it would be a bad idea to have him back. His influence would not entirely be a positive thing. Yes he is a club icon so let's leave it at that.

Agree1 Disagree0

04 Nov 2015 10:34:32
Good to know. Hopefully they will not allow him to return. We need to move on, in my humble opinion Gerrard should have been already moved on a couple of years before he left.

Agree1 Disagree0

04 Nov 2015 11:37:25
Sabona I totally agree but for me he was 5 year's there to long. If Shanks or Paisley were there they would have moved him on. There was to much sentiment involved with him but as I said he is a club icon.
