Ed 2?

You said ealier about how the owners will sit down with Kenny end of season. You also said how you dont rate Adam(i strongly agree on that). What I would like your take on is this. The owners must see this summers transfer activity was largely wasted surely they must have to free up more funds because minor tweaks wont get them 4th and without that surely their longterm financial plan crumbles. {Ed002's Note - The owners will look at it from a results oriented perspective and I am sure that will drive much of the discussion.}

What do you think ?

Hans

Who's going to score the 16 goals you have come up with?

Melbourne CFC

If only we had a 20 goal a season striker like Fernando Torr......um...hang on.

cozinoz

Come on coz you know perfectly well he left you to play for and i quote 'a big team'. You guys bought that other guy, whats his name?

Melbourne CFC

I believe he left us so he could go and win trophies...........oops

cozinoz

I think he joined you for the same reason so lets agree his judgement isnt great. But it was a quote I used cozinoz and incase you are unsure what that means, it is when someone actually says words and then another person repeats them to another audience.

Liverpool are not a big club, and will not compete at the highest level for a decade or more. You can quote me on that.

Melbourne CFC

Which is better winning trophies or not winning them? Is it better to be in champs league with zero hope of winning it? Or to win aa trophy right now?.

Even Jose and Carlo couldn't win you a champs league what hope does anyone else have of doing it at Chelsea? Truth is Chelsea will never win it no matter how often you qualify for it. I admire your league titles but while you're still qualifying for it we have 5 and counting. You haven't even started to count yet.

Well i think you can only be a top club when you have a champion league trophy.

I am fed up of people saying about how the fans calling for kenny to go will be eating their words next week when we beat sunderland. It doesn't matter next week as we aren't playing for anything now. When we needed a result yesterday we couldn't get. Kenny needs to stop changing the formation every game, one game 4-4-2, next game 4-2-3-1 next 4-4-2. He just needs to pick a system and stick with it. I think he needs to go at the end of the season and we try and get someone like klopp or mourinho. OUr great club slowly drops out of europe's elite every year we are not in the champions league. We can't afford another one

At least someone is seeing some sense and reality. KK ought to leave this summer if he truly loves this club.

Both posts are unsigned clueless unqualified drivel.

So AVB sacked for being too rigid and one-dimentional training and tactics, and Kenny sacked for adopting different tactics to suit different opponents? Man, it's tough to be a football manager.

Quite simply, that was one of our best performances this season, i've watched the game a few times now and the only thing lacking was the final ball. we dominated possession, we fought very well for the ball and we assembled some pretty spiffy attacking moves, we just lacked somebody like Stevie G. Hendo, we have a few box to box midfielders but i feel we need to have that attacking flair. I'll naturally be slated for saying that was a good performance, but we always have to be looking for positives, and i can take a lot of positives out of that, if we can build on that type of attractive attack and hunger for possession i can only see bright things ahead for LFC. Stay patient, we've got 8 or 9 parts out of 10 right, missing that 1 part can be seriously exploited by somebody in the type of form that Van Persie and Sczezny are in, and that's exactly what happened, if that was any other team in the PL right now, we'd have beaten them convincingly. Whether we like it or not, this season was for progress and team building, this is obviously happening, anybody who says we're not progressing is only looking at the PL table and not the actual matches.

In the space of a week we can win a trophy and put out a performance worthy of beating just about any club, now apart from the dropped points, all is moving ahead, as i keep saying, IT WILL TAKE TIME. this time next season i feel people won't be so negative.

This time next year, eh del boy ? Lol

i think we should raid the dutch league for some talent this summer.some players are:

kevin stootman
dusan tadic
dries mertens
luuk de jong
ola john
zakaria labyad
christian eriksson
jan vertonghen

DORSET RED

I'd love to have Eriksen, but it's not realistic, there are not many clubs in the world that he'd sign for, maybe if he is humbled a bit for the rest of this season his head will shrink and he'll be available, but at the moment he thinks he's already in the Ballon d'or type class of players....

He is not....

You have to look at the big picture it is not all about the money but every year we are not in the CL is a year we fall behind the rest. You cant use Leeds to make your point because they had an owner worse then hicks. If you are happy being a mid table club then thats fine your choice but i expect more from a club that has spent the money we have then to be happy with where we are. I dont know about you but i looked forward to the big CL games.

Dear Kenny

If you inherit an average squad, and add more average players, you still have an average squad. You just have more average players to choose from.

Slightly different, but didn't Greece win the Euros in 2004 with what looked like an average team?

I still say we just need a couple of new players, get a few goals and we will be there or there about next season!

Keith

Right so our template is Greece then? Rely on luck and average players, brilliant, defending kenny to the end there, if kenny finished last people would put a positive spin on it

And man united team which won Prem is easily the worst team to win a Prem title.

No,we need a new manager

I've waited a bit to say this to see what peoples reactions would be.

Its fair to say our success in the league isn't up to much. Especially if you look at the table as a whole and see Stoke and Fulham a couple of points below us with teams full opf players not up to our very own Liverpool standard with managers who supposedly can't manage either. Also we laugh at Chelsea and Arsenal yet they are above us and have been for quite a few weeks now.

Our only real tale of success from the season is the Carling Cup win. Kenny himself said he only cared about the result. So by his own admission that's all the owners should be looking at in terms of league position and total points.

My views and questions are simple.

First and foremost if Dalglish wasn't Dalglish we would all be united in asking questions of the Manager as Benitez Hodgeson and Houillier found out.

The players brought in haven't worked out. Apart from 3 I'd say which have been Enrique Suarez and Bellamy. Alright saying we've bought players for the future but Liverpool needs to compete now and spending those amounts of money brings pressure whether it be on the Manager or the players themselves.

Kennys subs and selections have left a few question marks sometimes. Sometimes players do well an they get left out for weeks. I keep coming back to this but the kid Flannigan made one mistake against Sunderland and gets dropped for the rest of the season. Surely he's not a bad player after one game? He's not the only player. Dirk Kuyt hasn't had a look in and why? For Jordan Henderson? What's he done? Has he contributed goals like Dirk can do? No he hasn't. Treated poorly under Kenny.

I keep hearing this Liverpool way off Dalglish. But nearly every interview where there's a question he doesn't like he spits the dummy. Carragher was the same with that Sky reporter. So what if he had a right to do it? Does that mean its better to have a go? Not for me no.

This is without dragging all that Suarez stuff up. Yes I do understand the media arnt big on Liverpool but we haven't helped ourselves in certain circumstances.

All I'm gonna say is I won't be one of the Kenny out brigade but it wouldn't disappoint me if he left so much.

Spriggo

1) Flanagan has been left out of first-team involvement for most of this season so that he can hone his skills by playing regularly in the reserves. Just as important though is the fact that another costly mistake may ruin his confidence, which can be fatal at such a young age

2) As Kenny says, you'll never please everyone with your team selection, and some people would be moaning if Kuyt was in the line-up every week. Henderson is adapating to the team and is part of the future of the club; Kuyt is not. This has been a transitional season so Henderson has played more. Given his poor record in front of goal this term, I struggle to support your statement that Kuyt has been 'treated poorly by Kenny'.

Well said spriggo great post.
I love Kenny the style is better but he has set us back years with bad transfers.

Great post

Have to agree with second posters points, all valid. 2 mayby 3 players in the summer and next year we will bring a lot more success, in the league . A top striker or 2 , not neccessarly british shud be top of the shopping list!
JayB

While there is no question to me that Henderson has potential, does anyone think he is much better than Shelvey?

I feel we have jumped on Rafa's signings moreso than that of Kennys which I just find unfair.

Spriggo - You say -

"First and foremost if Dalglish wasn't Dalglish we would all be united in asking questions of the Manager as Benitez Hodgeson and Houillier found out."

That's all fine - but that is the precisely the point.

He IS Dalglish.

He is the King.

BJH YNWA.

Because the signings of Rafa's that people jumped on were absolute shockers, i just can't put Jovanovic and Voronin in the same Category as Downing and Adam. Adam and Downing are head and shoulders above those pair, and yes Jovanovic was a Rafa signing!

Red7.

Jovanovic and Voronin were free transfers. Whilst Adam and Henderson cost roughly 24 million combined.

Bit of a difference there. Dont be bringing Rafa into it. As I would take him back in a flash.

Jonesred

Shelvey is better than Adam and Henderson.

why do so many fans expect instant success? they talk as if our owners have given a deadline and that being this season .they are long term and liverpool fc will be around for many years ,and to un named posters who snipe and make snide comments please have the decency to leave a name its not as if we know who you are is it ,have a spine leave your name gutless people, redello

Sad world we live in, but I do understand frustrations that we've gone 22 years without a title and some want that remedied, asap! We all had high expectations for this season, but for various reasons, it hasn't come off. In true LFC tradition, I will say, next year will be great!

Keith

Wasn't even instant success we where after, we where looking at 4th. When you enter a competition you enter to win ( premier league) we didn't even expect that, just 4th and we've fallen short of that. Si red

Spriggo, has a point of view on everything but in the last paragraph states he won't say he wants kenny out but wouldn't be dissapointed if he left? Splinterd arse comes to mind? Sitting on the Fence.
I won't sit on the fence? " Give it time were heading in the right direction! Kenny will get it right! We just lack a centre forward of Class. Kenny leaving would be a disaster!

What realistic transfer activities would people like to see in the summer?
For me it would be:
OUTS
Johnson-Inconsistent and can be a liability defensively.
Carroll-I have tried to keep faith but his touch, speed and movement just isn't good enough.
Aurelio- Age and injury prone.
Henderson- Just out on loan to a team where he will get regular football.
INS
Isla- although he is injured he is a top quality player.
Luuk De Jong-Great potential.
Matt Phillips- Good idea to snap up all good young English talent when there not 20M (like downing).
Sissoko- strong Box to Box player who can boss the midfield since gerrard has lost his legs.
Marin / Krasic ( A fast tricky right winger )- A quality player so we are not forced to rush Sterling through the ranks.
TEAM FOR NEXT SEASON
Reina/ Doni
Isla/ Kelly Agger/ Carra Skertel/ Coates Enrique/ Robinson
Lucas/ Spearing
Gerrard/ Adam Sissoko/ Shelvey
Marin?/ Kuyt Suarez/ De Jong Downing/ Maxi
What youth players do people think will make the cut next season? And should Kenny try some youth players in the remaining games as we have nothing to play for?
YNWA
South Scouser

Ok, Hendo on loan so he can get regular football?, he is already getting regular football, and as much as you may hate to admit it, he is progressing!
We need a right winger and an attacking midfielder for the times when Stevie G is unavailable, a real number 10. I'd also like to see Pablo Hernandez on the right, he's getting bugger all football at Valencia too.

Red7.

Well doni wont be here,as he wants to play and not sit on the bench.
but if carroll or suarez leaves then i suggest we will go for levenzzi or saldado.
we may get isla as johnson will be gone but maxi, kuyt and marin will not be here next season or sissoko.and hopfully adam will be gone to.i,d like to see us get ramirez just dnt no where things stand with him.i'd also go for seydou keita abit steal sumit we miss and will leave barca in summer, yes he might be 32 but we need sum1 like him with experience.you look at 2001 tht great season whos name gary mac, in 2005 who didi.keita would give us tht bit extra you need.i would like to get strootman bed him in next season in the cups 1 for future.and get de jong in
so my team would be keepers
reina and?
defenders
isla/ kelly/ agger/skertel/coates/ enrique/ robinson/flanagan/ as kelly will be a centre half rather than rb
midfield
lucas/gerrard/keita/ramirez/hendo/downing/spearing/phillips
forwards
suarez/carroll if either leave saldodo or levezzi/dejong/rhaodes as he seems to be like fowler a natural finisher
just my opinion

chris brown

I'd like to see us sign a top winger and a striker, my dream would be Hazard and Soldado but I'd be elated with Ramirez and Texeira.

I like Johnson but I'd like to have Isla as a utility player and feel that signing won't happen if Johnson stays.

I'd also like to see us finally sign a winger with real pace such as Hoilett or Phillips who can come off the bench or just give us an extra dimension. If we don't sign one of the above, they'll go to another club on the cheap and I will chew through the nearest telephone directory - our squad is crying out for pace.

In a dream world we'd pick up Martinez as well but I can't see us signing a cm if I'm honest

Red Ollie

Coutinho would be ideal, playing beautifully in spain at the moment with Espanyol(on loan).

Do people think that we could look abroad for talent this summer unlike the last?

We will, don't worry.
The idea of the british signings was to build a spine for the club with players that won't just up and leave without warning, the brits are at home, they're playing at a top club and know the importance of LFC within britain and ireland. Now that we have a strong core, maybe expect a few youngs brits, but i'd say after getting our defence and general tactics sorted this season, we'll be looking at a bit of flair and creativity next season. You may have noticed how our attacking moves have dramatically improved since the start of the season, so the natural progression will be some more creative flair WITH a good final ball.

Are the so called fans on here calling for Kenny to be sacked/replaced no idea what LFC stands for? Since we have we become a sacking club? Fair enough we have sacked two in the last 2 years but I think the reasons for both of those were valid.

Rafa spent the last 18 months of his tenature fighting the owners (not the first club he's done that at) and lost sight of what he should have been doing, managing the team and getting the best out of them.

Roy, well what can we say, wrong man, wrong club, wrong time. He should never have been appointed in the first place on the simple fact of his record.

Now given these two aside, are we as fans seriously thinking that yesterdays defeat means Kenny should go? really? Two facts for us to consider, 25 & 8, the first is the number of times we have hit the woodwork this season, the second is the amount of missed penalties. With that little bit of good fortune that teams get we could be talking a completely different story today.

Now as I see it Kenny's and his backroom team are responsible for preparing the team for each game. They are NOT responsible for hitting the woodwork or missing penalties, that folks is down to the players. I will give you 2 games as an example for this season so far, Sunderland, first game, missed penalty, hit the woodwork, the Arse yesterday, missed penalty, hit the woodwork. Small margins in which if the ball bounces our way we are 5 points better off so effectively could have been 2 points of Arse with a game in hand.

United, City, Norwich, Arse, Blackburn........in each of these games the opposition keeper was MOM and in some cases pulled off unbelievable saves. As I recall keepers only get MOM generally when their team is overrun and they keep them in the game!

As I have said on many occasions I think the football played this season has been in the main entertaining given this is a new team still getting to know each other. To suggest now that we should sack Kenny is in my opinion an insult to him, his family and the club.

I note Chelksi have sacked another manager today, how many of us were amazed when then sacked Ancellotti(?) after he won the double.........ask yourselves would we be any better than Chelski if we sack Kenny after winning a trophy??? - TMac

TMac,
Sacking Kenny is not on the agenda mate.
It's just the one week wonders on here.
The Real KB

Hopefully KB mate, but some on here seem to think it's a quick fix, when the majority know this is no quick fix and it's a long way back, but we are on the right road - TMac

Well said TMac, thank god to hear from somebody who has been watching the same team as me all season. It's been frustrating but we haven't got anywhere near the points we deserve.
Derry Red

Now here are some fans I could have a pint with! YNWA
NextGenRed

Ahh, I hate fickle fans who judge on the last performance. Kenny has got us playing nice football. We are heading in the right direction. With a bit of luck we could be sitting comfortably in the top 4 but that woodwork hates us. We won't ever sack Kenny and I am pretty sure both Roy and Rafa walked away themselves.

BthekingB

If you look at Man City and Tottenham, you would see a pattern. Man City with all their riches took 3 years to reach where they are now. Tottenham were in shambles when ol' 'arry came in, now look at them!

It takes time to build a squad. Kenny has been in charge for about over a year now, that's it! We have to keep backing him, for sure we will come good.

On another note, a season of Europa league might not be the worst case scenario. Now, think about it, there are a number of players in the squad with little to non Champions League experience. Enrique, Coates, Flanagan, Robinson, Henderson, Downing, Adam, Spearing, Carroll are the ones I am talking about.

Another year to bed them in slowly might just give them the confidence required to play at the top level. I mean, do you fancy Adam, Henderson and Carroll against say Barca or Milan now? I thought not!

AG

A quick fix may get you a quick road to the top 4, but it also leaves for a massive slide down the escape shute when the bandage falls off.
We've tried quick fixes for 20 bloody years, we're finally building something that will last and people are getting impatient, they don't understand that what they're asking for is exactly what will hurt the club further.

Red7.

Cheers AG, spot on.
Not to mention the lads like Suso, Sterling, Coady, Silva and the like. They'll be up for a few games against opposition from different parts of europe, i think that'll be GREAT for their development.

i think the remit was for us to get into the champions league this season , i think that went when we drew with spurs at home ( another game we should have won ) , we cant drop anymore points , as i dont think the sides above us will drop that many , fans talk about chelsea playing badley but as poor as they have been they are still above us , we have the 2nd best defence , so all these draws are hurting us , and when we wee drawing 1-1 with arsenal it seemed kenny was happy with this , that is why he put bellamy on so late , ( waste some time ) only when they scored did he bring carrol on , i just do not get kennys tactics , and why he draws all these games , bellamy ad carrol was our best players against man city , Man Utd and wolves ,and they have hardley played since , i just dont get it , and the cup win is only papering over the cracks ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,mickyb

Harry in his first full season, got tottenham into the top four.

Harry walked into a club with a solid squad, Kenny walked into a dead set s**t bucket.

Harry walked into a club that was bottom of the league! and his first win was against us at WHL when Carragher scored another own goal after Kuyt had put us in front!

Awful result yesterday 4th spot is gone everyone stop dreaming!
Very dissapointed in KK saying the team shouldnt be judged on results but on performances and he keeps harping on about where we were last year, last year where we didnt have 120 million to spend.I know we brought in 80 million but he still spent 120m. I will always back him but he knows its all about results so it was a strange commentjust wonder what JWH is thinking,i know he has a shaky relationship with kk.
Also his substitutions are madness downing had the beating of sagna all day and he took him off when bellamy for hendo wouldve been much more positive.

What else do you expect him to say? Team can't hit a cows arse with a banjo that would be more like what he wanted to say

When do the application forms come out for the Chelsea job ed002? Work for 6 months, get the sack & walk away with a fist full of dollars. Not bad work if you can get it.

The comments towards players are humorous at times & clearly from people who don't know football and have never played the game. The boy Henderson is 21 & now plying his trade at one the biggest clubs in the world, he's got bags of energy & pace a good touch he's only going to get better lets encourage after five minutes at the club before we write him off, you never know he could turn out to be a little gem like Lucas.

We outplayed Arsenal yesterday the difference a composed player to finish

I dnt understand why people call hendo, ffs if the right ball was there yest he would of had a hatrick the penalty rebound kuyt should of left for him, then adam should of put him in 1 on 1 and suarez should of squared it instead of going back inside as hendo had an open net from 6 yards.the only 1 of kennys sighings tht hasnt got what it takes here is adam

Lets look forward to a big week next week and we will let the doom mongers and the fickles stew in there own medicine.

A tough trip to sunderland but i am confident we can win this one followed by a big derby which i hope will bring home win. If we get 6 vital points the table could be looking positive again for us. Followed by a massive fa cup quarter final on mothers day.

Fourth spot is definitely not out of reach and if any side can make the impossible possible its us. So lets keep faith still a very long way to go and 36 points to play for.

We already have a major piece of silverware in the cabinet so lets hope the players can relax and we will only get stronger as the season goes on.

Thanks for King kenny turning us from a relegation fight to winning cups and fight for champions league places or top six in just over 12 months.

You are the only man for the job and i will back you all the way and i am sure true liverpool fans will. Keep up the good work Kenny we are playing some delightful football.

evening eds just watched the game from yesterday gutted about the result but style of play is great to watch.Trying to look at the positives i know results have been poor and we are where we deserve to be in the table. If we continue to struggle for goals then obviously our league position will not improve, and confidence will suffer. However i do hope kenny is given another season feel he is building well.Dont think i can remember another year like this with so many chances created,so much woodwork hit,so many penalties missed.Surely we cant put this down to bad management.Weall need a bit of luck and we have had next to none. Tomo 10

It can't be down to bad luck, for two thirds of the season. It's down to a lack of quality in the final third.

Those complaining about Henderson and carroll should remember these are young and were bought for the future. They have time to adapt and improve and should be given it as both have shown in the past that there is more to them.

Downing and Adam criticism is understandable, they were bought to be immediate improvements, and they haven't been. However they are still only 27 and 26 (I think) so they too still have time to improve. One thing is certain chopping and changing players after one season will only do one thing...de-stabilize the squad.

My opinion we need a goal scoring striker, a right winger.
robinson needs to be given a chance at LB as I think Enrique has been below the standard he set himself earlier in the season and I think thats because he's the only left back at present. I also think that we need to give kelly a shot as Aggers understudy for CB and buy another first team RB.

21 & 23 me thinks.

Those of you asking for Kenny to go are a little stupid. You want to sack a manager which has won the only trophy the club has won for 6 years? in the same season he won it? Remind me, how many trophies did Rafa win after 2006? What? none? yeah none thats it.

I'm grateful for what Rafa achieved and did for the club and I still think he is an excellent tactician but to cut kenny time short now because we are under our goals slightly is ridiculous. What will you do if do re-sign rafa and he under performs after a year? which is likely because the job required is more extensive than you guys think. If Kenny still has not got us in Champs league in another 2 years time then he can go. Kenny had to revitalise an entire club and fanbase with a devastated morale after Woy and rafas last year. He did this admirably over the last year in addition to giving us a younger and improved over all squad and winning us a trophy. Give him some time people because nobody else will be able to fix us any quicker.

Nevada

Lucky trophy with penalty shoot out with a championship side oh yah.

2nd uneducated un named poster: Just a bit of education for you: the league cup has knock out rounds with a two legged semi-final and if you progress you then take your place in the final at Wembley. If you do a bit of research you can find out who we actually beat on the way and see if you still think we were lucky?
kidmillions

Wasn't lucky to get there and also trophy is a trophy don't care who we play or how as long as we win it. Ask united fans if they are ashamed of being humiliated by Bayern for 90 mins in 99 only to luck their way to winning it. Ask Brazil if they care they had to use pens to beat Italy in 94. Most of all what's better winning a trophy or not winning one?

Nevada

We won on penalties in the CL 2004/05 edition and FA Cup 06 finals. What's wrong with winning on penalties?

Keith YNWA

Remembering Ireland vs Romania.

The greatest shootout ever got us Ireland to the quarter finals of the World Cup.

Did we care that we were s**te?

Packie saved a penalty!

Legends forever! Every one of them. (even Chris Hughton)

The same goes for Istanbul.

I love a good penalty shootout - the Russian Roulette - the psychological war of nerves - who will crack first!

My heart feels like it's gonna explode watching LFC in a shootout...

Great stuff.

just see Pogrebnyak
3 games and 5 goal for fulham(loan)..

And look at the Icelandic fella on loan to Swansea, two brillant goals yesterday, Charlei Adam should take note

I think that we should sign that French guy Morgan Parra. He had five shots on goal today and scored four of them - pretty good eh?

Hi Ed,

I know lots of fans support KK, and some want him gone. But do you know the owners views on cup wins, league position and Dalglish's job?

Thanks

Burnsy {Ed002's Note - They will be very happy with the cup win; they want CL football so league position is critical; they will no doubt have plenty to discuss with KD at the end of the season.}

They like to win them and be as high as possible? Could that be an answer...

Is his job under threat then Ed, seeing no CL next year, or will the owners give him more money and time?

Thanks

Burnsy {Ed002's Note - We don't know yet if there will be CL or not next year. The owners will have much that needs to be put to bed in respect of Suarez and the difficulties the business has had to face. I suspect that there will be much discussion at the end of the season but I would not say that his job is under threat at this time.}

I think Kenny will resign if the owner ask.

I for 1 don't want KK to resign or be sacked, Like Commoli said there will be a bit of tweaking to the team in the Summer and I tend to agree. Look at the overall picture and you can see we have improved a lot over the last 12 Months, if somehow we could convert a bigger percentage of chances into goals we would have made 3 rd or 4th spot quite easily this season, no need for much change at all, keep plugging on and the tide will change. The last thing we want is to run up huge debts again, be patient fellow reds.......Bobbinred

04 Mar 2012 18:14:02
I don't know why people are thinking 4th spot is out of our reach?! Let's think about it though, arsenal have conceded the most goals away from home and rely on one player rvp, if he gets injured then they are struggling. Chelsea have just sacked there manager and are so unpredictable, they can lose to anyone. Newcastle are doing well but they are outsiders and we can't consider them threats, plus we need to play them, if we win they are done. We are doing the right things but just can't get the f@#!er in the net! If we hit a run of form and the results go in our favour we can still get 4th! We just need to believe! Come on you reds!

Joshlfc

It's not the other clubs that are the worry, it's us - we don't look like stringing together the results needed to finish 4th this season. The squad has the talent but at this moment lacks the consistency

Red Ollie

No more than 2 consecutive wins all season is your problem

Joshlfc, how can you be so disrespectful and declare that newcastle cant be considered a threat? They have been in the picture for CL spot all season, continue to be in the running for it and are 5 points closer to it than we are.

Steve

04 Mar 2012 18:09:59
To all the fans who say 4th place is not important - it's Champions League Football! Of course it's important... not because of the money (unless you own the club!) but because it's the elite clubs of Europe - The name Liverpool should be in the hat every year...

Agree we should be in it but not just making up the numbers but competing: have patience. When we get there we'll be just that.
kidmillions

If no CL football then Kenny should resign.

So Kidmillion's we were just making up the number's 05 won it? 06 quarter final's? 07 runner's up? 08 semi's? 09 quarter final's?

3rd un named poster: You are talking about the past? Why the history lesson? I am talking about now? nothing to do with yester -year. My point was give the manager and squad time to be stronger; so when we eventually qualify we'll be ready to compete and not just make up the numbers Comprendi!

This squad is a 7th place squad. Thats our current position isnt it. It has been this way all season, we simply arent good enough for 4th spot. wake up people.

I know he gets injured a lot but Robben for £10m? That's not bad. Depending on wages but he's a cracking player.

Spriggo

Spriggo mate, what will he be on a week ?
£100k + I'd say.
He's getting on a bit, dodgy hamstrings too.
Not for me mate. Too expensive.
The Real KB

He's not getting on, he's 28 prime years for a winger/forward. He is on the treatment table a lot but his recent injury record over last 2 years is much better than in his early 20's. Wages is a stumbling block, even Milan dont want to pay him the wages he is looking for.

Nevada

28, going on 38. If he's been injured so much in his youth, it does not auger well for his later playing career does it ?
But my point still stands. He does not represent value for money for us. He's on big wages.

Hi ed,
Are LFC going to sign "random player i signed in Fifa 12/FM because he is amazing"?

Seriously though im tired of people going on about "whens Rafa coming back?" or "time for Kenny to step down" Kenny's has a basically a season to turn us around. You cant take Kenny as a returning manager who has got a magic wand. We need to take Kenny as a new manager and any manager needs time to change things. I know he spent money in the summer but new players need time to gel. Though i am unhappy with the way Carroll has been treated he was playing well gaining in confidence and then dropped to bench again.

In the summer I would like us to sign a fox in the box (fowler/rush) type striker and a right winger.

Hi eds,

Question for ed002, before AVB appointment I said that I had been told that Benitez would take the job as he was seen to be the man to get the best out of Torres (something which Torres himself has said in the past). It didnt happen then but do you see it happening now?

Nevada {Ed002's Note - It is too early to say who the new manager will be.}

Who would you like to see at Chelsea ed002?

Nevada {Ed002's Note - I am pretty easy going over such matters. I would certainly not object to Mourinho returning. Louis van Gaal was mentioned to me a while back as a possible short-term solution given the implosion at Ajax - perhaps even to work with someone else. We will see.}

Van Gaal is one I forgot though he does have quite a fearsome reputation in regards to training. I've heard a couple of his ex players say he is a wokrhorse not too dissimilar to Felix Magath

Nevada {Ed002's Note - van Gaal certainly does have that "tough on the lads" reputation. Magath takes it a lot further and there are plenty of players who have had major problems dealing with him. But for we wait to see if Chelsea can get what want in terms of a new manager/coach.}

Yeah, in Magaths defense though when he when he was in at Schalke I read comments from a few players saying that although he was insanely tough and ran them into the ground they felt the benefit toward the end of their season.

Nevada

Frank Reiijkard may be. saudi arab lost away to ausse and saudi is out of world cup. so he may leave saudi for any team

Louis van Gaal is an arrogant SOB and needs to be kept as far away from Liverpool as possible.

Stranger things have happened but I predict a Spurs and Chelski collapse.

That leaves 3rd and 4th place between Arsenal, Liverpool and Newcastle.

Very very optimistic!

You have no business with the top 4 i suggest that you concentrate on Fulham and stoke instead.

TC

04 Mar 2012 17:31:10
For every LFC fan out there especially the fickle ones. I have one question. Everyone saying top 4 is mandatory and the reason is money and better players. Whilst i agree as much as anyone out there and i too want us to be in top 4 and be in CL. But that is because i want my club to be playing and representing at the highest level and challenging for trophies. But lets consider this imaginary situation where all the sponsorors get bored because Barca always dominate and win CL and they want to sponsor more for Europa since there is unpredictability with variety of teams having a chance of winning it and also players realize they can never win CL unless thay play for Barca and decide to join some Europa team so they have better chance of winning it, then would u all negative moaners would like us to finish 5 or 6 or 7 or win cups which would guarantee Europa. Come on i mean u want ur club to be finishing top 4 or top3 top 2 or champions because u want to be proud fan of LFC and not for being happy that clib is getting money and attracting better players. Any day i mean any day a player should consider himself if he is enough attractive proposition for our or not. Not the vice versa. If not i don't want those players no matter how talented they are. But it seems most of u want those players they are bigger than the club and fans. If u really wish for those kinds of players, Pls don't ever support our club, we fans can not stand such kind of players and fans where they think they are bigger than LFC. I would love my club to achieve as greater things as possible, but thats only for the love of my club and def not for money or attracting mercanaries. I think some of u still did not learn from Torres mistake and its baffling some of u want him back after what he did to us and talked about us. The day u say u would welcome him back any day is the moment u turned ur back on the club just like him, same goes to others like masch, owen etc. Its simply that u love this club because they once played for this club not the other way and pls if u r like that don't ever support our club. Its really shame that because indirectly the club is buying fans not the players. I mean if club buys certain players they like then only they are going to support the club and people in it and don't say u r only criticizing them but support the club on a whole. U don't need to support us when we win when u could not do that when we loose. And to one of the most knowledgable fan here named red turk u say kenny buy british garbage and rafa buy foreign geniuses. its the same rafa who went for barry and tried to get rid of alonso which ultimately happened and which triggered our downfall and its baffling that u say suarez was not bought by kenny because u like him and i think u will say same about enrique, bellamy, coates and rest of the so called british garbage is bought by kenny. So we bought 8 players and half of them are not kenny's signings since u think they are better players and ur favorite players. Oh man did u even done ur schooling.

AJ

04 Mar 2012 17:21:12
Benitez would have won us the league if we had decent owners...

In 2004 we finished 7th i think then hired him...

2005 bought luis garcia for pennies, Alonso for £9 Mil, Won us the Champs league and finished 5th

2006 Bought the likes of Renia 6 Mil Agger 5 Mil Lucas 8 Mil and won us the F.A Cup and turned us into top 4 side.

To follow that was the likes of Mascherano Torres, Another champ league final, runners up of the league,
He also had David Villa signed for £10Mil but it was pulled by the owners.

Also our youth academy is fantastic now we have some unbelievable quality coming through, and the set up is all because of Rafa.

Of course he made bad signings, but he had to try and find a gem with pennies

I think he would have too, made some dodgy decisions with tactics sometimes but all managers do.

Don't want him back though as we have moved on and have Kenny now.

That season we finished second if he had backing I'm sure we would have won the league... But t&g destroyed us and now we are rebuilding. I did like him as a manager, lives and breathes football.

Also had Aguero in the bag but tom a jerry said no same with Silva

Read your first part, 7th in 2004 and champion leagues footy. Nope 4th or higher and 2004/05 was Rafa's first season.

Dublad

How could we have finished 7th then been in the champions league??

I like Rafa, he had moments of brilliance but madness too especially when it came to the media. He made some good buys, but also some shockers.

I wouldn't rule him out coming back, but I certainly couldn't see him working with Comolli. He'd also upset some players with his man management style, like Carroll and probably Adam. With all that said I would welcome him back, because frankly who else would we won't.

Papa G {Ed002's Note - Liverpool appealed to UEFA with the support of the FA to let them in as Champions League holders in 05/06 even though they were fifth in the league.}

I would have loved 2 see rafa as manager with different owners. Would hav been a completely different story then.

The season we finished second, it was despite Rafa not because of him. We should have won it that year and Rafa cocked it up

Chris in Tamworth

I think the poster who asked how we finished 7th and then be in the champions league means how could we have finished 7th in 2003/2004 and then be in the champions league the next season when we won it, as that is what the original poster seems to be saying when he says we finished 7th and hired Benitez. If we had finished 7th the season before hiring Benitez we couldnt have been in the champions league the following season when we won it.

I thought it was Rafa who decided to not buy Aguero due to the fact he was only 17 at the time, would've struggled with the work permit and also wouldnt have been ready for first team for a couple of years.

Nevada

I like Rafa and believe he was let go a season or two to early. The fact remains though that under Rafa we was the third best team behind scum the mercinarys and the pre madonnas ..
That fact can't change and once the press have it in for you then the players soon follow then your out. That's how they say " the unfortunate business of football".
I enjoy the new attacking pass n move football under Daglish and I'm confident next season you'll see a strong challenge for the title. Dalglish is the man for me.
He lives breaths and dreams Liverpool and quite frankley deserves more respect than he's has so far.
We are a club who supports their manager and gives them time to adapt their style. This makes us greater than that of Chelsea and City and in fact most teams.
Houlier got 5years and Benitez 6 so show your support for our very own Dalglish

Rafa have more knowledge about player all over the world. he recently watch every African cup match and analysis it.

Raffa sold Xabi Alonso... I canot forgive him for that... a good tactician but stuborn as a mule

Phooey

Would've upset a few player's with his man-management namely Carroll and Adam! according to most poster's on this page that's who they want out! Rafa legend end of!

Sold Alonso no more damning thing can be said, UTD fans love him

Hi Chris. It was Howard Webb who cocked it up awarding an imaginary penalty to Man U when they were trailing 2-0 to Spurs. They scored and won the match 5-2 which gave them a lot of confidence. Liverpool were at the moment far and away the best team in the League.
Dutchmal

It was Rick Parry who pulled the plug on signing Aguero for the same reason for not buying Ronaldo. Too much money for a teenager.

I really dislike Rick Parry!

Classic Ed2 " I think you are misinformed how a football club is Run"

Acting like Chelsea is a "Normal Club" The owner play thing Ancelotti got the sack year after winning the Double. He then Buys New manager for 13m sacks him after just over half a season after bringing him in to change the style of play. Buys Torres without asking the manager if he wants him which Ancelotti said himself "before you tell me How Unaware I am of how a club is Run" All the Press say about Player power. Which you say Is Wrong

You without doubt Ed2 be F":,@:g Murder To Live with
Lyndon {Ed002's Note - The decision to move Ancelotti on was taken at New Year not suddenly at the end of the season. His involvement with purchases was minimal in the great tradition of Italian clubs. The owner did not make any decision to buy Torres himself without consultation and the whole affair had been going on since the previous summer. Your assumption about "player power" getting AVB the sack is very wide of the mark and perhaps you have just been reading the headlines or looking at Twitter. What are your opinions about the results review of Chelsea training methods that went on for the two weeks following the Everton game? What do you think about what was said to Michael Emenalo and AVB about the training and the performances - do you think it fair or not? The problem is you are either ill-informed or not grasping too much about the situation. I am surprised you are getting so worried about it. And my wives think I am an absolute sweetie to live with.}

That's not what they've told me!!
I don't have a tweeter account. Just the written press. If your saying that a club with Sir John Terry in it as NO player power I'll take you word for it Very Guardedly.
Lyndon

But being in denial about your own club is the Road to Ruin {Ed002's Note - I am not in denial about anything. What I am saying is that player power did not result in AVB being sacked. The results and conclusions that the team had become "one dimensional and predictable" did that for him. There was a need for an immediate improvement and that was not forthcoming so a decision was taken that now was the time to make a change. The entire concept of "player power" is perhaps for those who live by cliches alone - noting your suggestion that I am on the "road to ruin". Every club has some players who are more dominant than others - I suspect Carragher and Gerrard are most assertive at Liverpool; certainly Terry and Cech are at Chelsea, and previously Michael Ballack was the dominant male. Keane at Manchester United; David Wylie at Greenock Morton; Adams at Arsenal; Eric Roy at Lyon and Marseille; the list goes on but perhaps you are too easily accepting of something you have read in the press. I don't know.}

For someone who's position cannot be questioned, your spelling is she*p! -

It has been said by ed001 (I think) amongst others in the past that Carra and Gerrard held more influence than they should. Player influence does exist ed and to say it doesnt is perhaps a little naive. I do agree though that they do not have power, just influence. AVB got sacked because he did not meet the expectations of Roman.

Nevada {Ed002's Note - So point me at where I was being naive please.}

Just admit it had a teeny weeny bit towards it and we'll Leave it!!!

Lyndon {Ed002's Note - Feel free to believe what you want because it is clearly futile trying to explain what actually led to the events of this morning. You seemingly know nothing of either the review or of what was said internally to the Director of Football and the Manager, but persist with this nonsense that it was something influenced by the players. This after you have demonstrated a complete lack of knowledge about the situation with Ancelotti and Torres. I would have thought embarrassment alone would be enough for you to "leave it".}

So your saying Henry Winter who is NOT from a Red Top paper is incorrect?
This is not due to fact I have a soft Head or any of the other insult which you like to throw about with Gay abandon. It's just I can save a pound aday on papers in this terrible Economic in which we live in

Lyndon {Ed001's Note - you get your info from newspapers? Sad, no wonder you haven't a clue! Give it a rest, you are embarrassing yourself.}

So im struggling to follow this did JOHN TERRY get AVB the sack is that what ur saying Ed2? {Ed002's Note - No, I did not say that.}

You were alittle naive in your statement in saying that player power only exists for those who believe in cliches.

It does exist just not to the extent that some on here believe. Sorry for any misunderstanding.

Nevada {Ed002's Note - I clarified in the rest of the paragraph by explaining that every club does have players that are more dominant than others. And I was kind enough to provide some examples.}

Just re read it again and I'm totally wrong, you said the same thing I did. I just mis read it. Sorry ed.

Nevada {Ed002's Note - No problem.}

To all those who say we are improving,
1) with houlier we were a cup side with rafa we were title contesting and chams league winners and now with kk we are back to cup side?
2) with rafa we had masch alonso Torres arbeloa with kk we got Adams Henderson downing Carol etc??
All rafa needed was the owners to give him the money to get the players he wanted if he had we would be in the top 3 if not first everyone knows that we need someone to put the ball in the net, in jan kk could have bought someone , even for 10-15 m just to give us an option up front, he didn't and that's the reason we are 7th, and why play Henderson on the right where he goes missing , 4th is out of sight now so let's play the youngsters and give them experience

Exactly - couldn't agree more

You forgot Roy hodgson we were relegation threaten side!! So we have improved
Give it time mate.

Would you rather we didnt win a cup? Lets not forget that Houllier also finished runner up with a points total that would have won most of the previous campaigns easily, he was just unfortunate that Arsenal never lost that year. Personally if we were to change manager I'd like to see Unai Emery, I think he is an excellent coach and clearly capable or working with a budget.
Preferrebly though is to stick with the manager that has just won our first trophy in six years.

Just looked at the remaining fixtures for the season regarding us and Arsenal and Chelsea

I tell you what Arsenal has not got easy games left compared to us, this is pushing it a bit as we are 10 points behind at the moment, but i tell you what if and it's a big if can beat Sunderland on the weekend and get a little run going this will go right to the wire of the season, now i no i will get slated for this because of the way everyone is feeling, but i do not think this is over by a long shot, especially considering no-one can seem to nail the position down.

Just have a little faith and see what happens.
The last time "Fans" called for Kenny's head, i think we beat City and Utd in the same week...

Very lucky to have Kenny while we do our rebuilding. Respected by fans and players. With any other manager there'd be a chance that Carragher and Gerrard would try run the place like Terry and Lampard do at Chelsea. Instead we've got Kenny to ease Carragher out, rest Gerrard when he needs to and make it clear as day that he picks and runs the team even when times are a bit tough down in 7th place.

So u worry about sunderland ? that means a 1st team sunderland can beat Liverpool. well the if Lost to Sunderland Kenny should Resign.

Any 11 players can beat any other on a given day. A weaker opponent gives us a better chance of winning the game, I'll take that every time.

HHH, slag off Sunderland at your own peril...with our form, the games against WBA, Sunderland and Norwich will be extremely tough to say nothing of the games against Chelsea and Newcastle. Do you need to be reminded how tough it was against Cardiff. Said it before and I'll say it again, finishing in the top 10 this year is no guarantee...as ludicrous as that sounds for LFC, it's the reality we face.

Hhh - that's the most ludicrous comment I've seen on here all day. Well done sir.

A weaker opponent gives them a better than evem money chance of taking points off us. Its been proved time and time again over the last few years.

if liverpool don't invest serious cash in a ' fox in the box, can forget about CL , period.

At Best suarez will get 20 and Andy C 15.

If can't get the cash for a cavanni, Soldado, Lavezzi etc this summer , then Ba or Bent surely could be bought to get a top 4.

With cash then available and better profile, then the big guns would come!

Come on Comolli, get the finger out!!

If andy can get 15 and suarez 20 then we dont need another striker. that alone will propel us back to the top. I dont know if its bad luck or just poor finishing but both of them could have had a lot more this season.

amar

35 Goals between two main strikers not enough if want to become top 4 then title winning team . Andy Will come good in 2 seasons as Will henderson but not good enough just now. Suarez needs to calm down in front of goal. Just need someone to stay in the box and put away some of the chances we create every game. Do that and we Will be back among it

Martin o Nil huge Experience manager. who like to work with young talent. most of the talented English player of this time play under him. Barry, Miller, Young, Downing. look at his Record after he take over Sunderland.

hhh

Martin O'Neil is nowhere near as good a manager as the press likes to portray. I dont want him anywhere near liverpool. Spent a fortune at Villa and couldnt deliver anything.

All the talk of replacing KD are just pointless right now, let's wait til the season is over at least,I'm sure the owners and KD will then sit down and review the season and make decisions then. Its clear we have made progress this season under KD but if the owners arnt happy I'm sure they'll do something about it.

ed,
what do you make of charlie adam?
do you think he is good enough for us?
cheers,
josh :) {Ed002's Note - I was never convinced even before he joined.}

What is his faults for you ed002?
in today's game do you not think at £8million that 10 assists and 4 goals three quarters of the way into your 1st season at a new big club isn't a bad return? he may lack a yard of sprint pace but saturday's stats for the premier league game found him to be the hardest working player in all games at 7.07 miles and is in the top 5 for the season(ground covered) and his pass completion is consistently in the 85/90% range. he has also been deployed since lucas's injury as a much more D/M which is not really his natural game. chelsea offered £30-40million for modric and his stats for this season and last don't come close to adam's from the centre of the pitch. in today's market he surely represents value for money? {Ed002's Note - I think there were better options available and I think that width was more important than another central midfield player when the club moved for him. Arda Turan would have been a better option for the same sort of money.}

I really think he was bought for his dead ball skills..( which havnt been that good) as back up for SG if he was to break down on his return from injury..

Phooey

Ed002 is spot on. Adam was just a luxury buy. Cant figure out why kenny rates him. Turan wud have been fantastic though.

AVB sacked...why did Abrahmovic sign him in the first place ?...he knew that AVB was young and inexperienced in EPL..I was sure that AVB was on for a long term project(2-3 years )....ED 02, whats your thoughts on this..

Pankaj {Ed002's Note - It is simple. If you appoint an employee and the results do not meet expectations then you move him on. Additionally, someone independently came in to look at training after the Everton game and has suggested that the team was very one dimensional and predictable. A few weeks later nothing has improved, so he has to move on.}

Sounds very similar to us with KD and yet our results are as poor as Chelsea's and we are 7 th...

Problem about Chelsea is no manager have a project for 2/3 year. I think Carlo did well for them but still sacked . {Ed002's Note - What difference does it make how long they are there?}

Ed002 you obviously know more than me about what goes on at chelsea but I get the feeling that Lampard, Terry, Drogba and maybe Cole have way too much influence, I think the English trio also cause problems in the England camp. Or am I way off?

Chris in Tamworth {Ed002's Note - I know little of the England camp. As for at Chelsea, AVB leaving is zip to do with the players. It is a matter of the results not being good enough and not being seen to improve after the training methods were independently reviewed following the defeat to Everton.}

afternoon eds , forget spending 30+million on a striker ,we should take the new russian kid at fulham an good alround poacher get him 15million . AVB sacked from chelsea proves they still have player power. goodbye cfc great news for us .cheers psv
thought please {Ed002's Note - It is nothing to do with "player power" and all it means is that Chelsea have had as manay managers as Liverpool over the past two years. It may also make matters rather harder for Liverpool, not easier, as improvements will be expected..}

You mean the Russian "kid" who's 28?

Matt S - YNWA

That would be a great move...a rush purchase based on a handful of games that reeks of desperation...hmmmmm....methinks me saw a movie with a similar script when LFC purchased Andy Carroll??...that worked out well didn't it??

Initially i was thinking that, sorta hoping he would get sacked and chelsea would be stop and start. Shadenfreude i know, but still. Then i was hoping he wouldn't get sacked cuz Chelsea under him are pants. What's wrong with me?

AVB 5th and gets the sack, Kenny 7th ...
do we now expect less than chelsea?

But we are going up and they are going down

Chelsea were expected to challenge for the league and were in a better situation than us at the start of the season MUPPET

Maybe it's Chelsea who have the unrealistic expectations?

We where expected to get 4th Muppet

We was expected to be challenging for 4th
Chelsea not to finish in the top four was unthinkable

they also have depth in the squad worth hundreds of millions
Completely different situation MUPPET

Depth worth 100 of millions? Who exactly is worthy of mention that sits on the bench? Malouda, Kalou, Mikel, Torres wouldnt drum up enough to buy a snickers. I wouldnt throw the word muppet around so quickly there G BOX.

if Kenny leave what his buy will return next manager ?
Carroll , Downing, Henderson ??
Maybe Suarez will pay back something .

Absolute nail on the head although people won't see it with their 3d Kenny glasses

Apparently the rumpus in the dressing room was started by one of the players saying that the paramedic who ran off the pitch to get some equipment to deal with Arteta, has more pace than Adam!

Ozone

I still don't find out why we let Aquilani go just £5m and buy Adam. is Adam better then Aquaman ? {Ed002's Note - Try the search function.}

If you were a fan you would know aquilani dont want to play in england he wants to play in italy, adam wanted to play for liverpool.

G BOX

Carroll cost us 35m and Suarez 22m, does that make carroll better. Money is not the way to qualify player's classes. Aqua never wanted to stay in England, so, we had to cut our losses.

But Adam is sh*t. Tottenham forced Modric to stay and look at them now. If he left they wouldn't be where they are and maybe AVB would still have a job. Really like him as a player, oh well we must move on.

GuvTOB

Yeah that's the problem - Adam wanted to play for us! I, like Millions of others would love to play for us but I, like them know we're not good enough, pity the powers that be didn't realise Adam was not good enough to play for us!

Adam has not once this season replicated the form he showed with Blackpool, whenever he takes a corner it fails to beat the oppositions first man; whenever he takes a free kick it generally hits the wall; his penalties are diabolical; he is slow; he cannot tackle (merely sticks out a leg); and I personally think his attitude is that of a - "Big Head".

If anyone was in any doubt I don't rate the guy, and i'n my opinion whilst he is in our midfield we won't exceed mid-table mediocrity.

As an aside, I thought Henderson may have actually played his best game in a Red shirt yesterday.

Charlie Adam's ear's will be burning!

GBOX,

I can tell you first hand that aqua still hasn't stopped moaning about his time in England even now. Technically gifted player but not one for big games and also did not want to stay in England.

Lots of people asking for Kenny to be replaced, let me ask with who? (anyone who answers with the name Rafa will be ignored due to their obvious lack of football intelligence)
Ok if Pep Guardiola were to take the job I'd take that (actually think he would fancy the job if we offered it) but I don't think we'll go for him and after him for me I'll stick with KK

Sorry but your wearing rose tinted glasses, kenny's transfers have ultimately decided his future as manager for me. too much money spent on absolutely average players, surely newcastle spending way less then us and doing better then us in the league is anough to get kenny sacked? im sorry but i do not think kenny is the right guy but i think rafa was and with 1 bad season was dismissed which is really quite disgusting after winning the champions league and fa cup.RedTurk

Seriously,,would guardiola really want the liverpool job, come off it,yee are miles off being even close to being title challengers and not even he could get yee there, yee have a poor squad and your best 2 players of the last 15 years carra and gerrard are without doubt on their last legs and no signs of anyone else within that squad capable of helping yee to be title challengers, squad of good and average players, yee know yourselves its true

I reckon Abramovich is holding out for Pep.

Sir Masher

Red Turk you do make me smile you never give a positive post and now I see why, it's because you can't let Rafa go! You poor deluded individual don't you realise it was the likes of you who let Rafa hold on for a season too long that caused us to be in the mess that KK is trying to dig us out of. I hope Rafa takes over somewhere else soon so you can go and support him with his new team. I like Rafa for all he did but he never understood what was required to win a title

Marcelo Bialesa of Athletic Bilbao.

I actually think Guardiola may be tempted by the Liverpool job if offered, I'm not sure why I think this but I've always felt that with things he has said in the past he wouldn't be averse to managing Liverpool. Your thoughts Ed?

Chris in Tamworth {Ed002's Note - I have no thoughts about Guardiola moving to Liverpool Chris and I know it will outrage the fans but I really don't see it happening.}

AVB sacked for poor results, will Liverpool do the same with KK?

I doubt it, but fans should not let the Carling Cup win compensate for our poor league position. 4th place is beyond us now, I can't see us going on a winning/scoring run and Arsenal dropping that many points considering RVP is in the form of his life to make up a 10 point gap (7 if we win our game in hand). We're 19 points ahead of Wigan in 20th, but 27 points behind Man City!

At this stage in the season to be that far behind the leaders is worrying, further success in the FA Cup would be welcome, but I'm sure KK's position will be reviewed at the end of the season.

Personally, I think KK needs another season to finish off the job he has started, i.e. to get us back in the top 4 and challenging for the title. I think we're 4 signings away from that, 2 strikers, a right winger, and a dominant central midfielder.

However considering the poor form of those around us, 4th spot would easily be within reach had we not been so poor in front of goal. Our 3rd top scorer this season is Own Goal! Our season could be very different had we signed a striker/attacking midfielder that we all cried out for in January (I'm currently watching Pavel Pogrebnyak scoring for fun following his January arrival at Fulham).

AVB was far too inexperienced for the Chelsea job, and his sacking is not a surprise, but when a manager gets sacked, it is a good time to analyse our own situation, and KK in terms of results is not fairing much better.

The saving grace for KK is that the results do not reflect the level of our performance, we should be well ahead of where we are as at times this season we have been excellent. With the right signings, we will be right in contention for a top 4 finish next season.

RedSG

I agree with some of what your saying, including the part about 4 or so signings away from challenging but can we honestly trust kenny with the money to buy those 4 players? just remember suarez was not brought in by kenny, the rest of senior players brought in are kenny's buys, quite simply an awful bit of transfer business that will probably go down in history.RedTurk

I was against Kenny's appointment as manager initially but for now he remains the best person for the job. Trust me, the squad just need some fine-tuning and we'll be there next season. SingRed

Funny we never see you when we win Turk. to be honest we played well yesturday but just missed the final touch. but as all know this has been the same all season. would be interesting to know how many times each of our strikers have hit the posts. J.Canada

You all do my f**kin head in, we were in a massive mess when Kenny took over, we were looking at relagation, you all may laugh now, and I don't think it would happen, but you were all Shi**ing yourselves. He has dragged us up and saved us. Torres went in January, we had to get a striker in fast. He bought good in Suarez, and then paid £35m for Carroll who, lets be fair, was overpriced. Having said that he was flying with Newcastle, so when we bought him a lot of you were rubbing your hands together thinking....Excellent, Kenny took us from, big trouble to cup winners in slightly over a season with another possible final looming. okay we don't look like were gonna get 4th, but any LFC fan would have took this 12 months ago, so get your heads out your ar$es and support probably one of the greatest servants this club has ever had. This man would do anything for this club, support him or f**K off somewhere else. Sorry ed's if you feel i'm talking crap but it's the way I feel.

From yesterday's performance it is clear to say we require a clinical finisher or goal poacher. Our performance yesterday credited a win and a scoreline indicating an Arsenal thrashing. We were the more dominant side with greater possession and the better pick of chances. Henderson and Downing played well, with both having an attacking mindset and awareness. Everyone played with confidence and contributed in the many waves of attack we threw forward. Our problem was converting our numerous chances into goals. Arsenal without Van Persie's goals would lie 17th in the league, but instead they are 13 places above 17th due to Van Persie's ability to score with the few chances he gets. We need someone in a similar mould or ilk. I would say that if we were to buy anyone in the summer we should go all out for Soldado. If we are to buy a right winger then Matt Philips or Gaston Ramirez would be ideal.

KennyD JFT96

If our clear-cut chance conversion was in line with the top 1/4 of the league rather than the bottom 1/4, we'd be in the top 2.

If we had scored the 22 times we have hit the crossbar/post and converted the penalties we have missed we would currently lie 2nd in the league. This is ignoring the numerous other chances that havent been converted during our matches. Imagine our league position with the acquisition of someone of the calibre of Soldado. I really hope we buy Soldado or someone of the same ilk has him.

KennyD JFT96 {Ed002's Note - You may not be aware but if Stoke had won every game this season they would currently be top.}

Nicely done Ed002. Gotta say your banter is class. I was just making the point that unconverted penalties and shots narrowly off target (i.e. hitting the post/crossbar) are currently the difference between us being 7th and 2nd. I know I'm stating it bluntly by making it sound as simple as that but its the case.

Eds, just a question:
I like Kenny and his style of play, but i don't really know if he's the right man to take liverpool football club forward in modern day football...

I don't desperately want Kenny to get sacked, but is it possible that the owners will replace him with a younger, fresher manager or Kenny himself will resign? {Ed002's Note - Someone like AVB maybe?}

ED's right. Iv always liked AVB, especially when he was in charge of Porto. In the future id love AVB to our manager. We certainly wouldn't have an owner who is power crazy, and player's who think there bigger than the club. AVB was doing the right thing at Chelsea, getting rid of the old guard to bring in younger talented players like Romelu Lukaku and Juan Mata. Two players i would of loved to of seen in a Liverpool shirt. If KK did ever leave again i can't think of no one better than AVB.

She was joking {Ed002's Note - AVB is now equal second favourite at 6-1 to be the next Liverpool Manager with Paddy Power I am told.}

Who is the other joint favourite ed if you please?

Nevada {Ed002's Note - You would need to look it up. I was speaking to someone on the phone and they told me. Oh how we laughed.}

Hello Eds,
will Henry sack Dalglish before the end of the season? Maybe KK will retake his former job at LFC? {Ed002's Note - Perhaps Chelsea will buy out his contract?}

Kenny may resign rather then sacked.

Kenny would be better re-signing than resigning.

how many times are some people going to blame big andy for one he didnt decide the price and 2 if you dont play to his strengths and build the whole team around our no 7 then this what happens!the big man was actually playing well then 7 comes back and hes dropped howz that going to give anyone confidence!he aint the finished article but did 7 play well aganist cardiff no do i hear people moan no!maybe we should look how many chances he has missed before giving andy hardtime!maybe if a twenty mill winger could cross or a fat midfieder could run or pass a ball then who knows!but seriously we have more to get fixed than big andy and i believe he will come good!but would we be giving our old no 9 this much abuse if he wasnt working out when he came!

I was at Anfield yesterday and agree with a previous post we miss Lucas terribly< Adam is upto the task and looks more like 36 than 26 and hasnt got 90 minutes in the tank, we created more than enough chances to win the game easily and personally thought Henderson had his best game to date but im not his biggest fan and would start with Dirk ahead of him every time

Hello Ed002,
I just wonder if Dalglish and Commolli regret not buying a striker in January. Dalglish said he was happy with the squad. Just makes you wonder if he still thinks the same. It is just not a good season in EPL. Sorry to see that. {Ed002's Note - I caught the highlights of the game yesterday and thought Liverpool played very well.}

Liverpool play well not very well. in Cup final a commentator say's Liverpool make 24 shoot on post only 5 of then on target that very poor. and I think that what is happen almost every match. like it or not we should buy a striker in January. How many penalty we are going to miss this year ? big change needed in summer. at least 4 player have to replace.

R-R

04 Mar 2012 14:22:48
I have no inside info etc, but my own personal opinion is that with no purchases being made in January, I suspect that the money is being saved for summer. I feel that KD's time in charge will be over before that. FSG have a desire for sucess & with that a ruthless side and with the current form or lack of it with mediocre players that have been brought in,(LS the exception). I also feel that Rafa not moving from the area & his "Unfinished business" statement might imply that he could well return, (unless he goes to Chelsea).
Of course I could be putting 2 & 2 together with an end result of 56, but you never know.

04 Mar 2012 14:22:41
We have missed Lucas L big time this season.

We've missed the net and the penalties even more!

After Meirles go and Lucas fall injury we should buy some one . that's a mistake.

Question for Ed002 please.
I know this is not Liverpool related but can you please explain how Chelsea will ever comply with the EUFA Financial Fair Play concept. I see the Villas-Boas reign will cost the club between £30-40M, they have not included the transfer outlays of Torres and Luis in their recent accounts and have a number of players on over £100K a week. Not long ago they were talking about a desire to sign Hulk with a buyout clause of £80M+. How are they going to achieve this? Man City style with a massive sponsorship deal?
DM68 {Ed002's Note - Chelsea will demonstrate that they are moving in the right direction when the FFP eventually come in. The same will be true of many loss making clubs. There was never any interest in paying £80M plus for Hulk. I am not sure what you are suggesting about the accounts, but you have been clearly misinformed about something - are you aware when they are due? You perhaps need to read up on the FFP rules about sponsorship deals as that is not any type of loophole being exploited by Manchester City.}

The accounts of chelsea and all clubs will have to be submmitted from the 2011-2012 season onwards i believe, then from this and the following 2 seasons all clubs will have to show an improvement of existing debt. a rumoured reduction of £10million each season in regards to current debt for them to comply to the rules supposedly. in essence this basically says that abramovich could spend £200million this may and as long as he spends less and less each subsequent season it will pass regulations.
as to man city, they will be fine. they spent all the money in advance of the rulings acquiring their squad. what they now have is player's that all have a sell on value and like 'pawns' they have a business model to buy and sell with in the future (especially with the 'lucrative' sposorship deal signed with etihad)! the sheikh has been very shrewd in regards to the FFP ruling.
this is how i read the ruling anyway.
thoughts/comments ed002? {Ed002's Note - As I said certain clubs, like Chelsea, will rely on demonstrating that they are moving in the right direction when the FFP eventually come in. But forget the Manchester City "sponsorship" deal - it is not a way past the rules.}

Listen, enough is enough, its time to stop the dreaming and/or the wishing, players of the elk of cavani, erikson, llorente, soldado, higuain, munian etc etc these players won't be coming! Not until at least we claim cl, players have their favourites choices should they move! unfortunately and if your honest liverpool are not the draw anymore, not like the 80's!, the uniteds, citys, arsenals, chelseas and spurs' of this world are more the draw now, unfortunately its a fact, lets look for good players, and build lets walk before we can run?

We need to learn how to crawl 1st ,our top 4 days are over.

'Red Raj' you are a muppet. You turn to insulting me, why? You do realise just coming 4th won't sign us a higher quality of player, look how much Arsenal struggle to sign top quality. We also couldn't just rely on the finances of finishing 4th look at Leeds. What happens if we don't get in the groups or get knoxked out of the groups, will players still want to join as we finished 4th. Of course I want us in the CL however those who think its somehow all important are stupid. You really need to have a basic understanding of what you are talking about if you are going to comment.

We're pretty much all saying the same thing around the need for a finisher. IMO LS is a brilliant player but really hadn't connected with whomever he has been playing with (probably because of the language barrier and match play rapport) but we have to do something about this. At the moment we are just six points above 15th!! I'm not asking for KK's head, not at all - but somewhere in the coaching something is missing... That has to be addressed.

Suffolk'n Red

But Suffolk'n Red it's been happening all season! the only to team's we've gave a proper hiding to were from the championship and league 1 both in the FA cup! they've had all season to work with and mold the player's Kenny bought but what was happening at the start of the season is still happening now! when Rush was sold Kenny did great buying Barnes Beardsley Aldridge and Houghton but he's not had much luck with who he bought last summer and last January Except Enrique and Suarez! and i think Comolli pushed the Suarez signing!

Appreciate your point - but what are you asking for, someone other than KK to manage? I'm not one who believes that any individual is indispensable over the club nor would I want to see the enigma that KK is undermined either.

Is there a solution?;? - if KK hits a cup double and the owners agree to a ramped up player investment programme which in this league is a huge financial risk we may make more rapid progress and more importantly attract AND Retain fringe global markets, that's the sustainable business model we should be working to...

Otherwise we have to bite the bullet (financially we may have to) and plan a 3-5 year development programme,...

In either instance we as fans should be realistic - there is much to develop, we don't have a Messiah manager, one doesn't exist and we may not attract them if they did...

Stick with what we have for 12 months more and see where we are with a moderate level of investment over summer (net £30-40m max) so we don't cripple ourselves.

Suffolk'n Red

@ - "we don't have a Messiah manager, one doesn't exist..."

Yes he does - His name is Jose.

Replying to my own post , I don't mean to be so insulting to kenny , but I just wish would realise he's not the answer to us winning leagues and ch leagues . 85 mill on Henderson , downing , and Carroll is just not good enough !! Rafa had to fight for our club when h & g was in charge ! Rafa with Fenway .... That would and should be our future !!

What makes you think Rafa would work well with Fenway?

They've spent a similar amount to what H&G would spend so far - we've had to sell to buy since they took over - they've also lowered the wage bill since Rafa's heyday.

Benitez would likely have thrown a huff and blamed them for his failings by now.

(again)

BJH YNWA. (don't you remember!? We were a DISASTER when Rafa had finished with us! Good God.)

North east derby latest 1-1 with a minute to go. An ok result for Liverpool ?

4th spot is very much out of reach now. I just hope, we'd be scoring goals in the very near future. YNWA

Hey lfc fans

10 points behind 4th place!! And god knows about 1st!
Very poor season in the league this year
I really hope the management get what we need cos these results are crap

Its not good enough to be this far behind!

Lfchavent changed 1 bit.... Still haning on memories
While everyone is leaving us behind

It'd take some time but I believe, we'd be back to top very soon. YNWA

How long is some time? most fan's have been waiting 22 year's!

Rafael benitez came the closest.RedTurk

Well we are under these owners for only a year and we have won a final at Wembley, leaving all the english teams for Carling cup, behind us. That's a step forward. And I firmly believe, we can do great in coming years. Against Arsenal only a goal scorer was missing, perhaps the story of the ehole season and when we'd get one, I believe things would only get right. YNWA

Only a goal scorer was missing story of the whole season! story of the WHOLE season! then why did'nt we buy one in January? we still had alot to play for then! a bit more than now anyway!

04 Mar 2012 13:55:24
it's strange that Chelsea get a result, last week against a team whose managers did their coaching badges together, who regularly loan players to each othe and who regualrly transfer players to each other

and then you have MUFC old boy network.

James Mc Clean was intially offered to fergie junior, but rejected and ends up been signed by Steve Bruce

Wow. Your paranoia is astounding.

Holy SH*T! AVB has been sacked! Talk about a club in crisis! SingRed

Just a thought, Rafa takes over at the bridge and fenway move KD upstairs to make way for Mourhino who would not be able to resist trying to get one over Rafa by making LFC premier league champs, purely speculative and no my grans next door neighbours cat didnt tell me this, food for thought though.
redtilimdead

Chelsea a club in crisis? Liverpool are 7 points behind this club in crisis. I wonder wat Liverpool are in. Djay

I'd rather we had Rafa back! he did sign a few bad player's but he did sign alot of very good player's over his period! the so called special one has said he would never manage LFC

04 Mar 2012 13:50:07
Hi,

Rafa here again, whats the commute like from the Wirral to West London?,

hola, Fernando, have'nt we met before?

Di Matteo steps up til the end of the season. Looks like Rafa has missed out at present. Or was it just his agent drip feeding the stories in the press?

I really would'nt want Rafa to take over at the bridge! as he would get backed to the hilt financially and he would make them European champion's!

04 Mar 2012 13:50:06
ive waited a full day to see if my view has changed slightly, but it hasn't,so here goes, jamie carragher is finished an should never play another game for us, hes been a great servant to our club, but sadly time is surely up for him now, also KING KENNY is the man for the job, do we want to become another chelsea who at present (AGAIN) are without a permanent manager...

AVB sacked. Player power by older players done for him

Lyndon {Ed002's Note - Actually it is the results that did for him.}

Result of senior players not playing for him after spitting their dummy out.
I guess ed2 as a Chelsea fan you'll side with the old guard who liked to holiday with the chairman on his super Yacht!!

How long would you like to keep the next manager and would you like him to have any Power?

Lyndon {Ed002's Note - You seem to have been misinformed about the players. And you are aware that Liverpool have had three managers in the past two years? If a manager comes in as an employee of the club and it is not working out then he simply has to go. Although it is not ideal, Chelsea have been proven to be successful for much of the past 10 years. At least Chelsea don't keep changing owners.}

Not yet!!!

Take your point Ed. But player power as taken a grip there player able to ring the chairman personally Lampard talking in the press about the Manager. It's nothing personal for me with Chelsea but football in General. It's just made worse at Chelsea with the money available

Lyndon {Ed002's Note - I don't expect many of the players call Bruce Buck personally. I rather think you been misinformed about how fottball clubs actually run.}

04 Mar 2012 13:43:17
The problem is ...

Carroll, Adam and Henderson were big fIsh in a little pond with their previous clubs yet at Liverpool they are just fish.
My point is that this is there first season and may well be over whelmed with the pressure that comes with a bit club.
I think you must all support them for at least one more season and maybe theyll become the players we know they can.
Give um a chance

Big club ? Wot u talkin bout Willis ? Lol

Apart from the obvious which in Carroll his height Adam his belly and in Henderson the length of his name how can you call those three big fish?

04 Mar 2012 13:32:07
I think the Andy Carroll purchase has been an epic disaster for Liverpool.

I think that at the end of the season we will have to cut our losses on him. If we had a larger successful squad we would have had the structure and patience to gentle ease him in. Unfortunately for us it hasn't worked and we have to be ruthless.

Unfortunately with loosing your top striker I do buy into the argument we have bought Carroll for 5 years. However given the circumstance he was bought to provide a steady return within a 12 months time frame.

Clearly from yesterday and the squad selections this year it's apparent that the lad is not trusted.

Unfortunately when you don't the quality of a team bursting with lots of world-class talent as Benitez has previously said you need to be almost perfect with all your signings. I do see that some people will argue that Carroll had scored a cluster of goals in the first half of his initial season in the premiership, however the view should have been taken that for £35m you need to be purchasing talent that has shown a consistent track record of scoring goals in the top leagues for 2 – 3 seasons.

Ultimately Dalglish has to take responsibility for going ahead with one of the worst transfers in UK and Liverpool history.

It's a really difficult situation for Dalglish regarding this player. A further dimension that we have to consider is that Suarez and Kuyt may want to move on. In addition we are likely to get 1 season extra from Bellamy. On this analysis its likely Liverpool will need to sign two strikers next season. I don't see any of the reserve players being able to step up by summer.

Yesterdays performance by RVP showed us we need to look to the future and sign a more technical striker who has pace, technique and the ability to link the play and score with 1 goal per every 2-4 shots. However this is not easy trying to sign a talented footballer at this level into a club, which doesn't play in the Champions league.

These strikers are not readily available or common but without this we will continue to battle in the 5th to 8th mini league. I have had a night to digest yesterdays result and feel that all is not so bad at the club and we have made some progression from last season. I can see our midfielders stepping up with a stronger return of goals next season once they've had a full season to develop together.

With some modifications Liverpool could be in a stronger position next season and this group of players will be stronger next season.

(Shepherds Bush Red)

Remember Spurs had a £27m bid for Carroll turned down the weekend before Liverpool paid what Newcastle wanted. Liverpool had to buy quickly thanks to Torres deciding to leave only days before the end of the deadline. Liverpool had always wanted to pair Torres with Suarez. But had to find a quick replacement.

Kenny doesn't do the financial negotiations!
KJS

Really we should've let Spur's buy him! they might be where we are now and we might be where they are!

Hi All,

bit of good news for us as our next match is away at sunderland and Stephane Sessegnon has got straight red card which means he is very likely to miss next match and Lee Cattermole has got yellow card which means he has accumulated enough yellows to trigger automatic suspension for next match

Does that mean that they'll only have nine players?

That's terrible! thinking we're that bad that some of us are glad that our next opponent's best player's are banned!

But i do believe we won against manchester city because they dont have yaya toure and kompany though....

"Young" Kelly getting some stick today aswell.
Didnt take long for The Muppet Element to pick a new figure of hate
Suppose it gives Adam Carroll Downing Henderson "up until a couple of months ago Skrtel" A day off

Lyndon

Adam was the worst player in Red yesterday! Kelly was ok but he's gotta get needlessly giving the ball away out of his game! and it was just a tap in!

I have to sayi try and support all those who play in our strip but adam is one of the worst signings we've ever made, his legendary passing and dead ball wizadry is really overrated he's so slow, gives the ball away even in his short passing game, constantly caught out of position, can't tackle -- useless and Carragher great servant but finished i'm afraid he should be retired cos I wouldn't like him to suffer the sticks and stones that will inevitably come his way if he continues, we should be giving coates a go, and lets blood some of the young ones now we ain't goin anywhere now, morgan up front with suarez, raheem on the wing!!

I really don't understand the obsession with top 4 on here. Yes it would be great and I'd love us to be back where we belong, but just getting 4th wouldn't solve are problems. Not to long ago Leeds were in the CL and look what happened to them. I don't conform to this belief of 4th helping sign players, they sign for teams who they think will or have a chance of winning it. I don't see top players queing up to play for Apoel. Also if somebody only wanted to sign for us because we were in the top 4 then I don't want them, we don't need anymore mercenaries. Happy birthday King Kenny, anyone who doesn't agree with that needs to grow up he is a living legend!

Were you born in a barn top 4 means everything to help move this club forward. We could attract better players, have a larger income, play against the best teams in europe.

You must be smithy from the simpsons

Apart from winning the league the utmost objective is qualifying for the CL! wether that's 2nd 3rd 4th! winning cup's is a very big bonus but do'snt pay that good unless we were winning the CL! in every walk of life now money is everything!

Although I agree that getting into the CL is a priority, we are still at the end of the day a work in progress. Each season will bring us closer to where we want to be and lets be honest, Blackburn went all out for the title spending money like water, they got their title, but what since? We want sustained challenges and success and that takes time to assemble. A cup win this year and our improved performances so far are an enormous improvement on last year, and if we improve at the same rate over the next couple of seasons we will be where we want to be, but that has to be sustainable over a many year period not a flash in the pan. Remember it took even the great Shanks 4-5 years to get us to the top.

I bet the fickle fans feel a little stupid this morning then again all fickle fans do is comment when we lose to slag the club off. My point is Kenny as took us from a relegation fight last season to cup winners and a top 6 or 7 side with in the space of 12 months.

We are in a cup quarter final and an outside chance of fourth. Fans really need to be realistic. We are having a great season that could be even greater. We had not won anything for 6 yrs untill last week thanks to King Kenny.

Fans were saying when Hodgson was in charge that they cant watch the football being played. Now that we are playing great football under kenny thats not good enough.

We even have european football to look forward to next season so thats progression in its self. It takes years to build a club again not minutes or seconds.

Start getting behind the club and we might achieve our goals.

Mighty reds

Well said!
But the Fickles will always be on any managers back their the ones who react the same way after a defeat or draw.
The sameones wanting Rafa Back when were playing alot better football now than under him and slag the same players off every week even if they have a descent game.

Dominated a game against a team in the Top four and your asking for Kennys head!!
I'm glad their are plenty of level headed loyal fans on here
or it wouldn't be worth coming on the site!!

You don't disrespect a True legend of the club
After one season in charge and all of you who do
Go and support your 3 or 4th club of the your life

Can you tell me where in the table it shows the stats for how many games we have dominated and the points we have been awarded for that accomplishment...having trouble locating it...all I see are the points for wins.

04 Mar 2012 12:45:50
Obviously We are short on Goals This season, I rate 3 players need to be brought in during the summer, all creative/finisher type players, let's be realistic Bezema, Hazard, Goetze wouldn't even look twice at a move to Anfield without Champions League Footy. Think a possible list of players to join would be:
RW-Phillips (Blackpool)
ST-De Jong (Twente)
CAM-Ramirez (Bolonga)

I have seen de jong on a number of occasions and he is a finisher, wouldn't cost much in comparison to the other names on here. as far as the rest of ur list goes, sounds perfect

Finally someone realistic. Good call on all three, and defo improve the club. I would still prefer or more experienced RW though.

I hate to say this, but, I dont think dalglish is the man for us. He was fine to come in and take the reigns after hodgson.and steady the ship, but not to take us into the champions league where i think he would be tactically out thought. If mourinho becomes availible i personally would go for him. I think he would give alot of confidence to the young playes ie. Henderson and carroll.

Why do you think Kenny brought in Steve Clarke very quickly, to twiddle his thumbs at training? He came in to help on the tactical side and especially our defence, which you must admit, has improved no end!

Please cheer up mates! We only have one or two "hard" matches left. Against Chelski and Everton. (Everton because they are local rivals). I am a optimist and I hope we will win the rest of the matches! Then the 4th place is ours! Charlie Adam sucks by the way, not the same pace as in Blackpool.

Regards from Denmark

Pace ? When did he have that ? Must have been in his jockeying days b4 the he lost the battle of the bulge lol

Haha pace? I must have had a hangover when I wrote this :P

Sign of Ferguson's control over the FA:

1 year ago: Old Red Nose says Martin Atkinon is not a 'fair referee' after his performance in a United defeat at Chelsea.

Official consequence: Ferguson receives 5-game dugout ban.

Unofficial consequence: Martin Atkinson isn't put in charge of another United game for a year.

Hey guys, Ed's, great work on the site.

I'm a fan of Kenny's, and respect everything he's done for our club. But looking at how we play, our position in the table AND considering we invested over 100 million in a year, the results simply aren't good enough. Top 4 should be a guarantee at this stage. I just don't think Kenny is the man to guide us back to the top. The buy's have been misguided to say the least.

I think it's only a matter of time before the owner's start to think this as well. Remember that this is an investment for them more than anything. And frankly, Kenny hasn't been good enough since his return.

Kenny may not be good enough for you , but he's more than good enough for me. Get behind him a bit more,,,lets not turn into Chelski and AVB!

KJS

Kenny has been good for Liverpool, but even with our spending last year, we are still playing catch up! I believe, although needed, we bought too many first teamers that are still trying to gel! Add to that, missing Lucas for half a season, our great captain for most of it and probably wrongly, losing Suarez for 9 games! Most teams would struggle with that (take RVP out of Arsenal for instance) and we are still 7th, won a cup, where we beat some good teams along the way, which guarantees us European football, albeit Europa league next year!

Keith

I keep hearing we spent £100 million but we also got money in, so let's remember that. Torres and Babel brought in almost £60 million between them. Add to that the good price we got for Meireles and more good business was to get £4 million for Ngog. This was done under Dalglish, so the figures aren't that bad.
Prior to that, we lost the likes of Alonso and Mascherano for top money and we never really replaced them.
So, the money Dalglish spent isn't as excessive as everyone points out and it was certainly needed.
We have to remember where we are at the moment, and the really big names aren't as keen to come to Liverpool as they once would have been. Players like Downing are realistic targets, better than the previous regime seemed to offer us. The likes of di Maria and Alexis Sanchez just aren't going to come.
Also, hindsight is a wonderful thing when it comes to signing players. Dalglish didn't make bad signings. Players might turn out to be bad signings but it wasn't intentional and he's bought what he thought was best for the club. All managers make poor signings and Dalglish deserves more time, especially considering the timing of Torres's exit (it gave him little time to find a relacement) and the sheer number of new players that had to come in during the summer.
It was a big job he took on, and time and development of the team is the least he deserves.
Rigsby.

Just want to post my thoughts on The Guardian newspaper. Up until recently I found it a good read on sports, quite funny and more truthful than the tabs.

But they seem to be becoming hugely biased against Liverpool. It started with constant jokes about Carroll, and he's still their biggest punchline, but it seems that every time I read about Liverpool there's a pop at Kenny, Suarez, the owners, Comolli, Gerrard, or something. I can take a joke against the club but Liverpool is the constant target of the paper's flak, day in day out.

I urge you to read some recent articles about Liverpool to see what I mean, and I further urge you to write to the editor, as I intend to, to complain about the biased slant of the reporting

Red Ollie

Did you note also we (LFC) were a 'two man team' when Torres and Gerrard were firing away.
Arsenal, who would be in the bottom half if no Van Persie, are the 'come back kings' and 'Van the Man', etc
The Panto Press make me sick with their bias

I don't read or buy papers, end of! They all need to sell and if having a go at us does that, then they will. How are the Guardian reporting the Chelsea/AVB situation, would be interested to know?

Reading the posts on here I cannot believe that they are true liverpool supporters ,we win a game and kenny is the king we lose a game where we played some top class football its time to sack the manager. I am dissapointed we got beat yesterday but just take a step back and think where we are now.We had many years of hurt under the previous bad owners and the last manager Woy,there is no quick fix to getting back to where we belong (minimum top 4) unless we have citieth money which we dont so please lets support our club and players and have no more stupid talk of sackings and getting rid of players, who will in time serve us well remember how many of you wanted to get rid of lucas. That is why we are writing texts because we think we know best, while kenny and co who do know best are turning the club round

We have too many players who do not know what is like to win things , i.e adam they are just made up to be playing for the reds as thats their sucess ( i know we won the carling cup , but birmingham won it last year) .
we need to get rid of the mistakes and put it down to a bad experience , having spent so much money on four players , can't every one see how one good player can get you through thing i.e R.V.P at Arsenal; and Stevie in his prime with us ,quantity is not what we need it quality , i do not know how we will get rid of some of the players but it has to be done or we will end up like the toffees .

all i have read about this morning is people aking when dalglish is leaving. people please give it a rest. do you sack your partner when then don't make you tea or go to the shop for you. no you don't, you have patience with them, yes you probably shake your head at them ut then you get on with it. why don't you try giving dalglish and the liverpool team some patience. rome wasn't built in a day. your all starting to sound like chelsea. we have one cup, in the hunt for another. ok so where a way off fourth at the moment but there's still a fair way to go yet in the league and anything can happen. being a supporter is to support so do that.
huddz red

If my partner spent a £100m to move us from a wrecked 4 bedroom house to a wrecked 3 bedroom house and told me to be happy cos she won a green house I would more than sack her! She would be below the crumbling patio on the wrong side of the garden!

£35m for Big Andy!

I think its a nut house you need

I don't think you understand what i mean mate. what i am saying is why can't you give them same level of patience to the manager and the club you do to your partner. i'm sure your relationship with your missus has taken time to become seroius and stable hasn't it or did you know everything about each other straight away mate. things take time.
huddz red

And 50 million for Torres! Not a great example. Torres not worth 50mil Andy not worth 35mill. Torres was worth at best 30 so in real terms AC was purchased for 15. Probably about right.

04 Mar 2012 11:34:36
I've waited a day before posting, in order to let the disappointment subside and enable me to review yesterday's game subjectively.

Firstly, there is no doubt that we have made great progress in 12 months. Silverware is already in the trophy room, with a good chance of more to come.

The frustration for most supporters is that they know we are capable of a Champions League place, but continually fail to deliver at crucial times. Are we better than Chelsea? Without doubt, at the moment, as 2 victories on their own patch testify. Are we better than Arsenal? Again, I think the answer is yes. In yesterday's game we were superior in all but one department, albeit the most important. Are we better than Newcastle? Certainly, but I hope they make it if we don't.

Before I analyse the game I must get one thing off my chest. On Friday, both teams had players with injury doubts. We had Gerrard, Johnson and Agger (definite out) and they had Van Persie, Vermaelen and Rosicky. Was there ever anything more certain that their players would recover and play and that ours wouldn't? This always seems to be the case in these situations.

Anyway, to the game. With better possession, lots more corners, hitting the woodwork etc, it is clear that we should have got something out of the game. My first thought was how unlucky we were again. Then, reality dawned, we are just not good enough where it matters in 2 key areas. Firstly, and obviously in finishing. Secondly, in delivering the final killer ball.

Here are some examples of key incidents to emphasise the point.

Let's start with the penalty. With 6 or 7 missed already this season, I don't really need to say much more. Apart from maybe, once again we have the schoolyard bickering of who is going to take it, the same with free kicks around the box. Sort it out Kenny, it is so unprofessional.

With the 2 chances that hit the post, Kuyt was unlucky and probably couldn't have done more. Suarez's chance was difficult but I've seen him score from those angles before and he probably should have been more clinical.

Schezeny heads out and the ball lands at Downing's feet with an unguarded net 35 yards away. He could have even taken a touch, but a miskick is just not good enough.

Even worse, Enrique plays Downing in behind the defence and Suarez is in the middle ready for a tap in. A class player would have put it on a plate for Luis. Downing makes a mess of a simple pass and it goes straight to the keeper. That was the game for the taking and it is not good enough.

Adam breaks with the ball in midfield. A gap opens up to his right and Henderson runs forward into it. Anyone with some vision, would have played him in, one on one with the keeper. Adam turns the other way and gets crowded out. Just not good enough.

Kuyt places a perfect ball across the 6 yard box, taking out the keeper and the defence. With an open goal from 3 yards out, Kelly swings at it and lets it run through his legs. Don't offer the argument that he is a defender. He is a professional footballer who should be scoring in that situation. I'd even expect a keeper to knock it in from that range. Again, finishing just not good enough.

These are just a few examples of our poor play at vital and key incidents in the game. This is what is costing us, not bad luck.

I'm not going to do an assassination on Carragher, as his service and loyalty to the club owes him better than that. However, Kenny needs to make a decision here, otherwise his legendry status will end on a sour note. Apart from going to sleep for both goals, the fact that he is playing created the danger because we were defending so deep. Both goals wouldn't have happened if we were playing a higher line. Jamie used to get away with a lot of criticism, even in his prime, when he was clearly at fault with a goal. Itseems nothing has changed on that score. I notice that Zat Knight got slaughtered on Match of the Day last night but Carragher's display hardly got a mention.

I still don't think 4th place is beyond us. 10 points behind seems like a chasm. However, win the game in hand and it is down to 7. Arsenal are easily capable of losing 2 or 3 games and drawing others, especially against teams who are not as generous as us in the final third. Obviously, we need to keep winning, which is improbable but not entirely out of the question. However, if we get to a point where 4th place is impossible, with Europa already secured, I would be very disappointed if Kenny didn't use the remaining league games to give some of the promising youngsters some minutes on the pitch. Sterling, Suso and Morgan etc may be young, but they have the vision and class shown to be lacking in my earlier points.

Finally, I think supporters get so paranoid about not making Champions Leage is not so much about missing out on the opportunity to play in it, as most know we are not ready to win it again yet. The fear is that we will lose players and not attract quality. As with last year when we brough Suarez in but Torres left. We need to be bringing in players to complement what we have, not to replace them, and that is the worry.

redmersey

Unless you got a time machine and a striker in reserve 4th place is gone

You never mentioned pepe reina's bad goalkeeping for the winning goal.
Players are snatching at chances which is understandable given our poor conversion rate.
kidmillions

Good point Kidmillions. I intended to mention it when I started writing the post but it somehow got lost amongst my rambling on about other stuff. I agree that Pepe was poor for the winning goal. He left too big a gap but was probably not prepared, as it never looked to be a dangerous situation when Song had the ball in midfield. Personally, I thought he could have done better with the 1st goal too. There was only one part of the net that RVP could head it and he made no move to cover it. He could even have attempted to come for the cross, which was quite close to him. I'm sure Van Persie would have bottled out with someone charging at him. While we're on the subject of Pepe bashing, I thought he could have done better with Cardiff's late equaliser. When the ball dropped to the lads feet he should have dived to smother it with his body, not go down on one knee with a half hearted attempt to block it. Although I am basically agreeing with you about Pepe, I am not advocating replacing him. I just think he is not playing quite at his normal level at the moment, but will be back.

To end on a more positive note, if we progress over the enxt 12 months as much as we have over the last 12 months, we will undoubdtedly be back in Champions League places and even challenging for the the title. Kenny has made mistakes, as everyone would, but it's ludicrous and disrespectful to be calling for his head after just over 12 months, especiallly as we are in a much better place. We shouldn't start judging until the end of next season at least.

For those of you who get your kicks out of sacking managers, go and support Chelsea, as you'll be able to get orgasmic on a regular basis.

Happy birthday Kenny, true supporters appreciate what you're doing.

Ed001 - Playing for the reserves when some of the first team are inconsistent is a great aid to their confidence. We won't know if they are good enough until they get a chance.
DM2102 {Ed001's Note - I understand what you are saying, that is why so many get chances to go out on loan and prove themselves. Only Shelvey has ever shown anything like the ability to play for the first team (though Silva is in early days of his loan and isn't doing badly at all so far!). The rest have proven that they were not ready for first team action with us. Physically most of our kids are just not up to it, not as in they aren't big or tall or strong enough. I mean as in physically developed enough to cope with the demands of first team football, so as not to cause long term injury problems like Owen suffered. That is what is holding back most of them, including Sterling.}
Hi Ed001 - I agree with you to some extent but I firmly believe that these youngsters are going to have to step up to the plate next season. In your view they are going to have to develop a lot in five months to be able to do this. All the major signings that many fans are expecting are not going to transpire for many reasons and the youth is our future.
DM2012

Some of the youngsters will get more experience next year, when they get a run in the Europa league!

I had a dream last night - I picked up a newspaper this morning to read the headline "IT'S TIME FOR ME TO GO" Liverpool stalwart and foot (that's the nearest he'll ever get to being a leg end) Jamie Carragher has announced his retirement with immediate effect. "Although I played my normal game yesterday", he said, "I finally realised that it is not good enough for Liverpool Football Club". When I woke up I looked at all the papers and ithe story was nowhere to be found - not even in the SoS - what a massive disappointment!
Dutchmal

Who would you have played in his place yesterday? Is Coates up for a big match yet? With Johnson not being risked, Kelly had to go RB, so not him, so who Wisdom?

Keith

Is Coates up for a big match yet? SEVEN Full International caps for Uruguay- voted Best Young Player in the Copa America! If it's a choice between Carragher and Coates then it has to be Coates. In the first place he is the future and secondly (and more importantly) he can't do any worse than Carragher. Carragher is not just past it - he was never there!
Dutchmal

Coates! simple's he was young player of the Copa America how is he going to get experience if he keep's getting overlooked for Carragher? plus leftsided centreback is his proper position! not Skrtel's so Coates should've started yesterday and should do till Agger is back!

We need a striker who can ACTUALLY score goals, not a striker who NEARLY scores goals.
A decent goalscorer, and i'm not knocking Andy Carroll, would be the difference. In my opinion, we don't need wingers as urgently as a poacher like Chicarito, someone who can latch onto the loose ball when we inevitably hit the woodwork.

If we're not going to trust Andy in big games, or simply if we want to play a more pass-and-move style against certain teams, we need to sign another striker, who's actually going to score goals. I think we should break the bank this summer to sign Soldado. Add Ramirez and possibly Hoilett to that, sum total roughly 40-50m. Offload Kuyt, Maxi and players on loan who get their wages from us such as Cole, Poulsen, Aquilani etc. Should recoup at least 10m, add wage savings onto that and it's a move that would pay off

Red Ollie

Keep kuyt

What will you be saying if they don't make it in the EPL though.......overpriced, poor buy, Dalglish must go?

I hate to say it but the owners know how important top 4 is, and no matter what the guys with rose tinted glasses say kenny is a dead man walking in terms of the axe. The fact that newcastle have a better chance of top 4 is an disgrace. He wasted millions on crap players, just about won a cup by luck, we need a top manager now. 27 POINTS FROM 1ST PLACE thats more points then qpr have. He has signed expensive players who have been useless even his better buys like suarez cant hit a barn door. Chelsea are doing rubbish and they still have 7 points more then us what is Kenny doing

Please stop saying kk waste millions!! When he took over, players w qualities din want to play for us and sub standard players are refusing to leave!! Kk did well enough to bring in players who wanted in and was promising at tat time. We are already improving and we are now playing gd football. So lets give the team our support!!

Ps there is no one else tat wanted the job when woy left, kk steps into the hot seat wo a second thought!!

San

So carroll is worth 35 million no mate
so hedo is worth 16-20 million no mate
Downing 20 million that is just a crazy price Kenny should be held responsible

He should have never come back

The buck do'es stop with Kenny! for those three player's it's 70 75 million add Adam and it's nearly 80 million which is just wrong!

For god's sake, this is only the first season!!

I'd say a big chance. guardiola,mourinho,deschamp,benitez,low,klopp

in todays press Arjen Robben is roumerd to be available for as little as 10 mil. only got 1 year left on contract at buyern and is unhappy there. wot a player, proven done it here and where eva he's been. we got downing cant even cross the dam ball 20 mil aint a patch on robben. shud buy him and a quality forward in the summer window!

He aint english enough for kenny and he aint overpriced.

He would be nothing but an absolute class signing for Liverpool. But can't see it happening, unfortunatley. :(

the only route to get back in contention is to go for one of two men....

martin oneill or one don rafa benitez.

Well, why not lets wait. Chelsea spended way more than us but are failing gradually. Arsenal are not the ame, if they don't have RVP and tottenham was build in a way, that took them lots of time. So, y just can't we wait and i believe it'd be sooner than later that we'd be fighting for great things again. YNWA

Marty would be much better than Rafa

Or just support the team and manager that we have.

Do you really think the answer to every problem is change manager?

Be a supporter FFS, not a fickle fanboy!

Rafa has LFC in his heart! O'Neill was an old enemy with Forest! the two don't compare! and tactically Rafa is much better than O'Neill! he's won alot more! Bad shout Martin O'Neill

Ed can you see kenny being shifted out into another position in the club in the summer and another manager coming in? {Ed002's Note - The summer is a long way off. There is not much point in speculating about the manager right now.}

Ed002, you let some of the posters whines on here affect your judgement.
There's a game against Stoke on the 18th, win that and it's another Wembley trip.
Tell me how, in all good sense, would possibly changing the manager help ?
You know yourself, it's either feast or famine week by week these days depending on a result.
The Real KB {Ed002's Note - I suspect I am not influenced by the posters at all and I did not say anything about changing the manager.}

Jayus, will ye give it a rest with getting rid of Kenny saga. Ok if we had bought a decent striker, even in january our position would of been alot stronger. Another 2 hits of the post and a missed penalty, plus a really good performance all round yesterday and people are looking for heads rolling. we need to move some players along in the summer and put what ever we get for them towards a top striker, move some reserve players up too. Martin kelly imo is way better proposition for us than johnson, you have to remember too, that Gerrard, Lucas, Agger and johnson were all out yesterday. If we converted our chances yesterday we cud of won 5-2!
JayB

So why be so vague or intimate that it could happen ?
You're usually very forthright on transfers and the like.
One week ago, the owners stood on the pitch after the final and proclaimed how impressed and happy they were with Kenny. So don't give me that there is no point speculating rubbish.
The Real KB {Ed002's Note - Clearly you have woken up awith some beef with me. It is the fickle fans who want Dalglish out because the team didn't win yesterday. Don't get pissed at me because so many are flakes.}

The real kb has always been deluded anyway! the manager is judged by results now look at the table. He will be sacked the owners dont care if he was a legend all they care about is results to get us in the top 4.

Lol.
I will take my deluded self out and leave the site to the anonymous short sound byte Man Utd fans today.
The Real KB

You're all wrong. Managers are judged by their trophies. Kenny has one already this season and a good chance of another. To sack a trophy winning manager the season he wins the trophy would be ridiculous.

It would be nice to make champs league but that is a pipe dream until the squad is settled. 2 more years then we can talk of champs league, 4 years and we can talk about titles, till then you have to be patient.

Nevada

To JayB you said it your self another two shot's that hit the post and another saved penalty! it's been happening since the start of the season! opening game against Sunderland then Norwich Swansea etc

04 Mar 2012 10:20:30
To Everyone moaning about yesterday, cant you see the improvements we are making. This season with a little luck and a maybe a goal poacher (one we will surely buy in the summer i am sure) we would be sitting pretty in the top 4 and maybe challenging.
Yesterdays game is summing up our season, we totally out played Arsenal, had a penalty miss and hit the post twice.
You cannot blame tactics or the management for this or even the players, there is a fine line between failure and success and at the moment we are on the wrong side. I am sure with a couple more signings we will move on quickly, we have a great basis for a top team, our players are at the right age and with a years more experience, a few coming through and a few additions next season is looking bright, Chelsea have massive problems and major building to do, Spurs will need a new manager and Arsenal will be a similar team next year with no major signings. All realist fans knew this year would be difficult to achieve top 4, however we are already in Europe and the rest of the season should be played with no pressure from the fans and use it to prepare for next year.
If we win a domestic cup, Europa cup and get in the top 4 next year we will be back on track,
Remember last year, fear of relegation, players wanting to leave and facing Administration or even liquidation (ala Rangers). You cannot always have instant success, please be patient, in Kenny we Trust

YNWA

Evered

I agree we are are better. Unfortunately not much better than Norwich at the moment. As for Dalglish - remember Ronnie Rosnthal - I used to scream at the tv and he still only brought him on with 10 mins to go. If I had spent that sort of money he has on that rubbish I would have been sacked. Sorry guys its not going to work.
REDditch

How many games are we going to dominate in terms of possession, corners, efforts on goal, hitting the post etc and come away with only a draw or a defeat?

You can put 1-2 games down to luck, but for the rest there is either something that is being done that shouldn't be or something not being done that should.

Are the right tactics being used?
Are the right formations being used?
Are substitutions being done at the right time and are the right players involved?
Is more specific training needed - finishing, penalties etc?

Questions have to be asked and answers have to be found.

I think the overall quality of the squad has improved no-end in the last year and we obviously couldn't jump from the quality of players we had to top-drawer in one go. It will have to be done in stages and will be over the course of 3-5 transfer windows.

We have had 2 so far and are not far away from having a team to challenge for the title.

We badly need a goal scorer (Fowler, Torres, Owen type that can carry a team on the goals they score - similar to Van Persie and Arsenal at the moment).

We also need one more creative type player/winger.

What a great post YNWA. I was at the match yesterday and agree that a goal poacher/ finisher would have put Arsenal out of sight by half time. The effort is there for all to see and although we didn't win it was an enjoyable match.
We should not jump on the Chelski bandwagon and demand instant success or get rid of the manager. Who would have thought this time last year that we would have made the improvements we have and have a trophy in the bag already. I was talking to some Arsenal fans after the match and they are envious of Liverpool's fans....they have won nothing for 7 years in which time we have 3 cups.
There are only 3 domestic competitions...we have won one of these and have a good chance of winning the other. I for one would accept this gratefully after the last 2 seasons.I am not so bothered about Champions League this year. I would rather build the team and blood a few youngsters and then qualify when we are ready.
Shanks didn't build his team in a season, nor (and I hate saying this) did SAF. Have patience and let Kenny and Steve Clarke build their team and a new era for our great club

To play badly and win is the mark of champions to play well and lose the mark of also-rans.

If we played badly yesterday and won, I guarantee fans wouldn't be happy - either way, with people on here you can't win. If we won the league they would be whining because it wasn't enough points or something. We won a cup last week and it was a negative on here.. I just cannot figure some of these PLASTICS out!

Kenny has us playing great free flowing football - it isn't his fault we can't finish our chances. I've only one thing I don't like about Kenny and that's his timing of subs, it's very poor. Steve Clarke needs to say something - he worked with Mourinho who made changes at half time if things weren't going his sides way. SC and KD need to sit down and discuss these subs IMO. How can a player make a impact in 10 mins - a disgrace!

Agree totally. We could have done with giving the subs 20/30 to make a difference. Apart from that Kenny has my vote.
KJS

If we played badly and won we'd be an awful lot happier than playing very good and losing! Plastic's? what's plastic about having an opinion of the way we've been hitting the bar or post? missing penalty's? not scoring goal's! something LFC use to make look easy! and did it for fun! What's plastic about that? please enlighten me!

I am a regular at Anfield, and yesterday the linesman was a joke, he kept messing up.

Liverpool played great, wiping the floor with Arsenal, where as usual we didn't capitalise on our chances. Had we done we would be up 4/5-0 at half time and who knows how much more.

We were all over Man City and yet again didn't nail our chances, where turning draws into wins, we would be top.

Liverpool need an assassin like Van Persie, whereas Arsenal needs a whole team.

The difference between top and 4t/5th/6th is clinical finishing. If we even had Kevin Doyle who knows where the net is, we would be at least 3rd.

Lets no over the top here, Dalglish is doing a great job, LFC fans feel the board and manager is fine, commoli is fine, its just a high quality striker we need to partner Suarez.

The one thing we can't do again is to have 1 great striker and the other ok, we need 3 top strikers.

Carroll has great potential but is more suited to a team where he is the main man, like A. Villa, Newcastle, WBA etc...

We need a short striker like Suarez who can spin on a sixpence in the fast tempo premiership, not a tall lad like Cavanni. He looks great in the slow pace Italy, whereas premiership i am not sure. The game has changed, low centre of gravity fast moving in the box.

Carroll is a great sub to change things around for an aerial option.

I think Eden Hazard would fit well into the Liverpool, and another play maker as back up to Lucas.

M

Great post but Doyle? He is not good enough at all at all... 4 goals this season in all comps I think?

They need a whole team? we need an assassin like striker? who won yesterday!

all of you posting about de jong, have any of you actually watched him play? he would be mediocre at best in the prem. Lpool just need a proven striker and a right winger thats it. Goals breed confidence all the players will improve if we start scoring. One big name signing is needed badly as a sign of intent or we are not getting 4th next year either as we all know all the teams above us will be making improvements in the summer especially Chelsea, it will be even harder next year. In my opinion we have blown our chance to take advantage of Chelsea and Arsenals poor form this year and as much as I love KK an what he has done for the club we need a manager with better knowledge of the modern game.

Would love some feed back to know how every one else feels.

RAH, YNWA

How can we trust comolli and kenny to spend the cash in the summer. I certainly don't and i dont think john henry does either. I love kenny to bits but its a results business and we aint getting results.

If he is mediocre than why is he in the dutch national squad or do you consider them a mediocre team as well?
huddz red

Also mate i bet you wasn't saying we needed nto change the manager last week was you. if you want to keep changing the manager then go support chelsea as that's what they like to do. why don't you go make friend with redturk you would make a nice couple. in my opinion yes we deffo need a goal poacher, someone who stays in the six yard box and a right winger, and maybe to make goalposts 3 inch wider lol. I don't think we need or want a change in manager we just need the final pieces of the jigsaw.

Oviously dissapointed how the league has gone this year and that some of the signings havent worked out but just think a couple of quality signings and we will be alot better. Teams are not out playing us and we control mostgameswe play but its just a fine margins that make the diference. If we had scored the 5 pens we have missed this year or half those chances that hit the post had gone in , we would be in the top foor , so I don't think we're as far behind as the table says.

1 quality striker and right winger
Maybe attacking midfielder is all we need.

Fed up of hearing 'we deserved to win' we need a flair player, a match winner, imagine the difference somebody like robben would make...

We have scored 30 goals this seson.
RVP alone have scored 25 goals..
Says alot sadly.

The Rob

Why do we need a flair player when the problem is were not scoring. Creating isn't problem!! strange

Lyndon

Not that much, is it not plain to see we need a striker?

MR EM

And what if he didnt score !!! some one else ? we need to put ball in net then theres not a issue .some of the games we have played if we converted half the chances we would have scored six or more ,some one else wont help

04 Mar 2012 09:41:57
i thought we played well yesterday.we dominated the game just can't put the ball in the net.but seems carrol downing henderson are getting slated again.for me the theres one person that plays bad every week and that is charlie adam. he can't tackle and he's passing and set plays are shocking.for me he's the one that needs to go asap.

Charlie didnt have a bad game, the 2 goals were the fault of Carragher caught on the wrong side for the first and Kelly and Carragher ball watching for the second. Lets be realistic why we lost, 2 mistakes and 2 goals. End of

Your right about adam,he did not not have a bad game,he was absolutely SHOCKING,worst buy of the season and has contributed NOTHING,his passing and set balls have been a DISGRACE.

Alan50

The word you are missing mate in your post is supporter and supporters support, you should get your boots on and have a go. I bet you never played before. Disgrace

The word your missing is support? ok you pay your 800 pound for your season ticket and most home game's Charlie Adam's game is as it was yesterday! you go home all peeved off Charlie Adam go'es home everyweek with thousand's of our money and you say instead of letting him know how we feel about him not playing very well we should cheer him? Carry on Charlie lad your doing a fine job! ok?

04 Mar 2012 09:38:49
Just when Carroll looks he is in scoring touch he been drop don't know why ? Carroll not play in mid week international . Arsenal is very week in Long ball , we have 11 corner and can't even put pressure o arsenal. I don't know why we not buy anyone n January?

R-R

He's upset Kenny! won't be here start of next season!

04 Mar 2012 09:38:48
The difference between winning and losing for us is scoring, sounds simple but our conversion ratio of chances is poor and has cost us all season. The margins are small but ultimately have a profound consequence on results. The football is good, we are competetive but for me we need another penalty box striker, not sure who and wouldn't speculate, however I would expect the problem to be resolved in the summer. Glad we have silverware, hope to get the FA Cup, we wont finnish higher than 6th. Still happy though, I'm sure KK has found out more about the squad and we will see it evolve again, not far away from competing at the very top. Keep the faith.

EVO YNWA

we are unhappy about your tactics and team selection Kenny. you wait 80 minute for 1st change. You didn't find a proper replacement for Lucas. Carroll don't play in midweek why he not start the match ? Van parse is a Class striker why not mark him properly. after use £120m your team no were near to top 4. don't waste more money it's not 1980 anymore . you don't have good knowledge about international player. just so call British talent not give you top 3. England is not even top 8 in Europe. so British talent not everything.
Help us to respect you Kenny resign.

rock.

You don't have to make team changes - it isn't obligatory. There was no need to change any player up until then because we were the better side and looked like winning as we had done all game. Peronally I wouldn't have made any subsitutions.

What an idiot...team selection and tactics seemed spot on given that we out played them...

I bet if Carroll had started you would have slated that afterwards anyway...

How much would you have spent on a temporary replacement for Lucas?

Paul mc

Paul mc

Well well well...??
I think the squad KK picked was spot on.
Dominated posession.
Henderson, Enrique had good games. Didnt take our chances to score enough goals.
Thats why we didnt win...
KK cant put the ball n the net for us!

Phooey
That is the reason... We didnt win

Numpty post Kenny could not have done any more we dominated the game missed chances and made 2 massive mistakes in defense. Get real dont blame the management

"After use £120m your team is nowhere near top 4"

...but if we'd won yesterday, which we deserved to do on the quality of our football, we'd be 4 points off 4th with a game in hand. Fine margins and all that.

04 Mar 2012 09:34:07
morning eds and fellow reds .IF ONLY .just picture this our season so far has been super but if nando would have stayed i think we would have been pushng city all the way.22 shots hit the post or bar .kenny needs to find a poacher at any cost and i think we will be a massive force again.but the plus point are that we are out playing these teams which we havent done for a long time, and if we improve this much again over the next 12 months we will be top 3 easy. cheers psv heads up fellow reds it will come home

How many goals has Torres got this season again? Yes he was once world class, but he's had chances on a plate at Chelsea and still missed them. Can we move on please.

Papa G

Leaving us has messed about with his head so much that he is a shadow of his former self!

04 Mar 2012 09:18:24
Hurts me to say this but King Kenny has failed massively.

Let me address some points

*Carling Cup is a big step, well no not really Brum won it last year,it is a Cup and im glad we won it but it hardly a massive indicator of success.

* In Kennys book he feels sorry for Roy getting sacked but states it was cause his signings didnt work out, by that very logic Kenny must be on very thin ice.

* We have not won more than 2 successive matches

* Chelsea lead us and yet they are humiliated and their manager is for the chop

* Kenny has spent over £100m and broken the clubs transfer record and yet our league position is one of the worst in years.

*Teams who invested less and have far less resources are delivering similar performance. Toon 4pts clear(with Mike Ashley as owner and Alan Pardrew at helm) Stoke 3pts behind (and they have had added preasure of Europa lg football) WBA 4pts behind ( have come from relegation zone and are managed by much maligned Roy Hodgson) Norwich 4pts behind ( newly promoted but yet playing at our level) Everton 5pts behind ( Moyes has no money club is cash strapped and yet they could overhaul us in the league) and Sunderland 6pts behind (despite mid season management changes.

*9 draws unable to score ANY OTHER MANAGER WOULD BE GONE!

So we cant avoid this the Kenny project has imploded my worry is FSG simply do not have the funds to repair the damage.

People on here are still talking about outside chance of 4th! I think we will finish lower than our current 7th.

Would love to hear what Macca has to say on views from within club and also how Commoli can talk about 1 or 2 additions. Also ED did FSG really believe that 1 big transfer window could set the foundation to build success on?

Of course I want LFC win cups,CARLING CUP GREAT(but remember Brum won it last year) EUROPA LEAGUE(yes I want us to win it but remember Roy took fulham to the final).

My problem when you break club transfer records and spend £100m you need to be higher than 7th and not worrying about Stoke or WBA over your shoulder.

Deeply worried RED

We spent £100 million fair enough, but one year ago we were more than £100 million behind the likes of chelsea City and Utd.

Chelsea spent £18 Mil lukaku, £11 Mil Raul, £26 Mil Mata, £7Mil Cahill £6Mil Romeu.

Utd Spent £20 Mil De Gea, £16 Mil Jones £20 Young,

And plus all citys signings,

So they all improved further

So to think that £50 Million in the summer was going to bring us instant succes is crazy...

I Wouldn't even go as far to say our signings were that bad (Just Overpriced), just haven't worked out...

Carrol: Was one of the fearest strikers in the Prem, everyone was raving about him, just broke into the England setup.

Downing: According to OPTA was the best winger in the league, put the most crosses into the box with the best succession rate.

Adam: Was inspirational for Blackpool, set pieces and passing was admired by all, Linked with UTD, Chelsea as well at the time.

Enrique: According to OPTA was the hardest defender in the league to beat for wingers. Has been fantastic for us too.

Bellamy: Free signing, fantastic, good signing by Kenny given he had just had a season in the championship.

Henderson : Was being talked about being one of Englands best prospects, had a great season for sunderland, Linked with UTD, made his england Debut, Also under 21 Captain... this guy has plenty of potential from CM.

I Would have loved to see Higuain Ozil and Lavezzi join in the summer but it is not going to happen, £35 mil we payed for Carroll may have got Higuain, but the £150,000 a week over 5 years makes it slighty more than that.

we are not far off regaining the top 4 positions with Kenny at the helm. A couple of signings next year will get us there... Imagine this team from next year(BASIC 4-4-2)

RENIA

Kelly Agger Skrtle Enrique

SIGNING Lucas Gerrard Downing

SIGNING Suarez

Squad
Keeper, Carra, Coates, Bellamy, Henderson, Adam, Carroll, Spearing.

With any reserves stepping up and any other signings that might come.

We are rebuilding and doing it within our limits.

Sorry for the long post guys and hope it makes sense.

G BOX

KK should stop playing players out of position a la BENitez(henderson in place of Bellamy, maxi ect just for his own pleasure (i dont know which pleasure he derives from playing him week in week out) and not drop him. I say Henderson should be brought in slowly in the game. He is a hard working boy but others also should have chances like shelvey, sterling, maxi,(at least as many chances as Henderson had)
KK will play him even in Reina`s place one day just to have him in the team LOL..
We have a great squad, but sometimes the decision goes wrong. sometimes he plays carroll and then he drops downing (crosses ect.. Caroll strong point). Johnson plays better when attacking so why not RW (Kuyt was not a RW when he started, johnson will do a better job than kuyt plus we have Kelly and flanagan at RB),
But i will say KK is the man for the job (he should not take all the blame), he should not be that friendly with his players, if they makes mistakes or play badly they should be...like red nose FERGUSON (they are paid tons of pound for that, players must perform like everyone in their respective jobs) if they can`t tackle, header, pace, control, pass, dose the ball, play left foot if right sided ect ect then they should learn it, its their job, not ours
Players like Beckham, Henry, C.Ronaldo, Ginola, to name a few, had slow start but they worked overtime to practise tricks ect ect and now look at their career.

I can't believe some of the c*!p that is posted on this site. When we had Roy in charge, he wasn't good enough and you never gave him a chance. The only person that you would have accepted in his place was King Kenny and now you've got him, you're slagging him off. If Kenny goes, who's next? How long before you start slagging the new manager off and calling for his head?

Rome wasn't built in a day and it will take time to build a squad capable of challenging for the title. I know this season we all have been frustrated by our home form - dominating games but failing to see teams off. It might only take a couple of signings in the summer to turn dominance into victories and if so, then we'll be well on the way to getting to where we want to be. We need stability in the management team and coaching staff, giving them time to get the players they need playing the way that they want. How long did old whiskey nose get at spam before things clicked into place? Just look at what they've achieved since, as much as it grieves me to say so.

Be patient and believe. What was the phrase after Istanbul? Believe it, achieve it.

We now have kenny who is still not good enough and yes true Rome was not built in a day but it took 1 day burn it to the ground.

HI, Liverpool supporters should stop Moaning when C.Adam makes a mistake on the pitch.it does not help him in confidence for the rest of the game. i have seen the match on TV, he tries to play it quickly, sometimes it works and sometimes it won't. I say EVERYONE like Suarez, kuyt or Kelly (in front of Arsenal goal) MAKES MISTAKE.If we had so many chances, obvoisly the midfield created a lot init, so the forwards should have done better. Supporters wants Liverpool players to shoot at distance ect.. but if things goes wrong they moan and that makes players afraid to take decisions on the pitch. We should encourage them whether there is a mis**t pass or a good pass. I know if Adam is encouraged (like at Blackpool) he will take responsiblities and people must understand its his first year at anfield. What the use, to start well (like suarez did) and then fade little by little compared to players who start slow and becomes or may becomes very very good later, who knows the future? (if encouraged :adam, downing, Henderson,Caroll can)
Booing a player in your team doesnt help in a mach. If he made a mistake its up to KK and his staff to see it, analyse it and correct it and fine him if neccessary(if he continues), its there decision not ours (except booing which doesnt help as i said)
just my opinion

Budashow

You can't fine a player for having a few bad games!

I do agree with you though, some of the criticism of Adam has been way over the top. I've never seen him have an awful game for Liverpool. Sure there's been one or 2 where he's just not been up to scratch, but i'm sure I read he has the most assists for Liverpool this season, and lets not forget in a full strength team, he probably wouldn't be playing ahead of Lucas and Gerrard, so that's pretty good going for someone who was bought as a squad CM.

Hi Eds & Reds,

With a fully fit squad , this would be my starting XI :

Reina

Kelly. Skertel Agger. Enrique

Johnson Lucas. Gerrard. Downing

Suarez. Carroll

Subs :

Doni
Carragher
Henderson
Adam
Kuyt
Bellamy
Maxi

Personally I can see Hendo been Gerrard's long term replacement, I think he looks a little lost playing wide right.

All tough Agger has had a great season, he fitness has gotta come into question yet again, I am not questioning his ability, you can say he's been unlucky with injuries, but he is far too injury prone. I think if Coates gets a little more experience and bulks up a bit, Skertel and Coates will form a defensive partnership for years to come. Of what I've seen of Coates, he's a big strong lad, but he seemed to get knocked off the ball a Little to easily.

For me, Enrique has been our player of the season, between him and Skertel. He's been rock solid all season bar his mistake against United.

Now for the biggie. Strikers. Suarez has been his immense self all season, but his goal return has been poor, we need that clinical finisher, Carroll has been a square peg in a round hole. If we had 2 wingers whipping the ball in on his head , he'd be scoring goAls all day long.

It has been clear as day we have missed Lucas, Spearing has done a decent job but some of his tackling is erratic to say the least.

I think some of our one touch football was impressive yesterday. Yes, we do lack that bit of a cutting edge at the moment, but I'm sure that will be dealt with to make a more realistic challenge next season. Some players need a bedding in season, some are found wanting, and moved on. This is what building is all about. Certain battles are won over short periods, but in the long run, the entire war takes strategy, patience and total support. YNWA.

i think everyone is missing the big picture here henderson adam downing carroll are all weak links in the team we our seeing this week in week out why not replace them with the likes of sterling coady suso lets face it they couldnt do any worse but the problem still remains and its the biggest mistake the owners have made so far and thats kenny daglish i know this will go down like alead balloon but we need fresh eyes and a world class coach in the mould of guardiola or joachim loew daglish was a stop gap and tbh hasnt really worked out barr the carling cup it needs sorted in the summer or we our going to be without cl for many years to come ps henderson downing carroll adam all bed buys for the same money we could of had yaya silva aguero i know who id rather have

Stop talking nonsense mr anonymous. There's only one weak link and that's Carroll, he's a useful squad player at best. Henderson had a great game yesterday in his natural position and Downings just took a bit of time to bed in. As for your comment regarding Kenny, why don't you h**k off and support someone else.
Ozone

So are you saying Henderson, Adam etc are on the same wages as Yaya Toure, Aguero etc? You can't simply state for the money we could of had the above as it's the whole financial package. You could probably add a third or double it with the wage difference between the two groups of players.

Lets the facts right we are not scoring .. but if i remember correctly we sold the best striker at our club and brought a 35M striker to score goals. But awkward or not he can't score nor is good enough to start for us week and week out then whats the use of him. Sell him sake of the game sell him for the good of both the player and the club.

The 'facts' are Torres sold himself. Carroll at that time was a monster in the Prem for NUFC & was being chased by others. We had only hours to 'nip' in before the window closed, rather than bank the cash from the Torres sale we reinvested in the team.

dd

Torres was going at his own request whether we liked the idea or not. Carroll was the best that was available at very short notice. At the time of his purchase he was one of the the most outstanding up & coming strikers in the Prem. Unfortunately he only has one dimension to his game and is struggling to develop. We probably fooled ourselves expecting him toadjust to our style virtually immediately - that rarely happens and especially not when the teamitself is adjusting to other additions and a new manager. It's easy to blame Henderson downing or Carroll week in week out. But as mush as I like him Reina as been poor this season. RVPs goal was good but getting beat at the near post not good

Lyndon

Goalkeepers play well behind a stable defence. This enables them to know when to come of their line and when not to because they can second-guess what the defenders will do. RED LENIN

So not covering your near post is a defenders fault??

Isn't the definition of insanity "doing the same thing every time but expecting a different result."

Same old, same old for me... I don't know what the answer really is... yes, a striker like Rush would be nice but there's more to this and the way we can play the ball around, we're on the edge of being formidable home and away. Its probably a bit more of everything confidence, luck, quality in finishing.

Hello Ed002,
do you think it will be a good or disappointing season if Liverpool wins FA Cup and not get CL spot?
cheers {Ed002's Note - The owners will no doubt see it as encouraging but ultimately disappointing. The Champions League brings with it both (a) significant income, and (b) high visibility allowing commercial exploitation. Although the club is doing well in terms of sponsorship (And H&G deserve much credit for that) the missing income from being in the Champions League is no doubt hurting the investors. Winning cups is great and will give everyone associated with the club a real boost - but the Europa League is not really where they want to be again.}

Well sadly Ed002, if the owners thought we were going to get CL football by the end of this season they were sorely deluding themselves. To break into that top four is going to take one of two things - another two years or a spending spree bigger than Man City's and that was always going to be the case. {Ed002's Note - Their expectations were clearly that if the give the fans choice as manager the money to spend that they have, then he would deliver Champions League football after 18 months. There will be no spending spree bigger than Manchester City.}

I have to question whether FSG actually understand English soccer. Do they think they can change it to work on a model they are familiar with? Or do they accept that they themselves have got to change in order to fit in. £100m is not a lot of money and if they think it is then I am afraid they are in for a shock. When Dalglish was appointed if they thought that it was going to take any less than 2 complete seasons to sort this out then I am afraid they are in the wrong game. Likewise, if/when they change Dalglish, they better acceot that it will take 1-2 seasons at least for the next manager to bend things his way. The only way to short-cut that is the way Chelsea did and City did - with a massive amount of money. Other than that, it will be season 13/14 at the earliest before we see CL football whther they like they idea or not and if they change Dalglish before then then it won't be until even later - and all the while they will need to be stumping up 25M plus a season for transfers just to stand still. RED LENIN {Ed002's Note - There has been no shortage of money spent by Liverpool over the years and I expect that the owners think £100M is a great deal of money even though you don't. They are certainly not naive but equally are not going to simply pour money they do not have in to the club. Much effort has been made by Liverpool, and other clubs to be fair, to improve the Academy and Reserve teams and expectations are high that there will be benefits coming from that.}

£100m is not a lot of money if you expect to get into the top 4 within 12-18 months of taking over as you suggest FSG aimed for - in fact it's got no chance and is totally unrealistic. Be interesting to see who Mourinho goes to (my money is Arsenal) - he will expect a massive transfer kitty straight away and will almost certainly get it. RED LENIN {Ed002's Note - Your best bet is to get on board with the FSG Out campaign then.}

On the contrary 002, FSG are what is needed as is Dalglish for at ;east three years for stability. But if FSG think they are going to see CL football that fast then they are fooling themselves quite badly. CLwill be 13/14 at the earliest, Challenging for the Prem even longer than that and it's going to cost an awful lot more money than they have out-layed so far. {Ed002's Note - I have nothing against FSG, it is the fans who just want vast amounts of money to be spent. It is not going to happen. The plan that FSG has requires Champions League football - the club is losing money and needs that income and that profile to attract the best sponsorship. Without that, the money will simply not be there for the best players.}

Only 5 teams have scored less then liverpool in the PL this season. And we never signed a forward the manager, DC, Fenway should have adressed this issue in Jan.

Red raj

Because we have one huge 35M striker with us, they think he will score goals for us but he is not..

The problem is you just can't sit and cry for a buy that not click. and we are doing that sit and cry for carroll. Shaqiri been sold 10m Euro and what a class this guy is . we not even make a bid.

r-r

Carroll can't score many from the bench

04 Mar 2012 07:42:31
Any chance of playing Coates for the remaining league games then? Waste of time playing Carragher now for me.

Spriggo {Ed002's Note - He may get a game or two but I doubt that he will be first choice.}

I would try Kelly there, he is a CB after all.

If buying a world class striker is the cost of giving up one of our players, then hurry up sell out our most expensive buy, Andy Carroll!

Poor lad not made for Liverpool.
Square peg in a round hole.
Shame to who ever decided to buy you.
Wish good luck for rest of your career.
Bye bye Andy! Not your fault you were here.

He cant score from the bench

He hardly scores when he is on the pitch. Wrong player at the wrong club. O'Neill shud take a look at him, or maybe aston villa.
Indian Buzzer

We should either be starting Carroll every game he is fit AND Suarez alongside him every game he is fit other wise it was pointless buying either of them.

What's the point of selling him? Sell Kuyt, buy a striker with more pace and movement, and have a number of options like any other top club

The point in selling him is round peg square hole!

I'm meant to be writing my uni essay but i figure this is more important lol......so here we go.

I think we can all agree it was a cracking match last night, I personally really enjoyed watching it, except for the last fiew minutes lol.

Nothing new in that match, same s**t diffrent day, we had five billion shots, 2 billion corners and only managed one goal (and to D**KHEAD thats gonna write that we didnt score any goals cause it was an own goal can get f**ked). While on the other hand, I think, we defended really well, enrique was superb and to be honest i only remember arsenal having 3 shots. But then again it only requires one shot to score a goal.

I think reina should have done better on both the goals, should have run out and got to the cross on the first goal and maybe should have been closer to the post on the second goal, but take no credit away from RVP, f**k me hes a beast.

What arsneals keeperes name......i can't spell it lol, he was fantastic. Great penalty save and my god what a follow up. Brilliant on the night and possibly denied suarez goal of the season (imagines if that went in after that amazing run).

I remember one of the eds saying its really frustrating to watch suarez, and i have to agree to this, i personally think he tries to much when presented with a decent chance. If he kept it simple i think we would have quite a few more goals this season.

As for 4th spot, nothing is impossible, remember istanbull boys (and girls lol). Never stop believing and WALK ON.

and now back to my uni essay h

Enrique was Great up until He didn't close the cross down for the first Goal!

Come on guys! Don't give up on 4th. It's not even mission impossible! Look where Arsenal was before and now..We can do the same thing..even much better.

Tekneek

Its not just Arsenal mate, there are other teams above us, and those below are closing fast. Its beyond us now. At least we will have the Europa to contest.
Wake up and smell the coffee.

Maybe its not a bad thing missing out on 4th the management may then take their heads out of the sand and realise what everyone knows that we need a 20 goal a season striker we create chances but dont put them away the squads not bad we just need 2 or 3 quality players.

04 Mar 2012 01:50:02
C'mon, people! There are still a lot of games to look forward to, including an FA Cup that's very winnable!

IMO we are definitely playing much better than last season. Let's back the team to a grand finish and get as many points as possible on the board, then see what happens in May. Don't count chickens before they hatch - teams around us are just as prone to collapses before.

SingRed

We are only playing better than we were under Roy. When Kenny came back last season the quality of football was better than now

04 Mar 2012 01:29:38
Everyone is freaking out about needing a striker, we do but last nights game wasnt so much about strikers not scoring but their keeper having another blinder . Just because rvp scored both of his chances doesn't mean anything he's one of the most inform strikers in the world at the moment. If any other team had those same two chances they wouldn't have scored the second one 8 out of 10 times.
Uruseb

...but, they did score and we didn't (had to rely on Arsenal to score for us)...so, not really sure what your point could possibly be? What happened happened--no point trying to deny it and fabricate another outcome of what could have been...and RVP scoring means EVERYTHING because the Gunners walked away with the 3 points that were ABSOLUTLEY CRUCIAL for US to get.

We had more chances than any top flight team should need to trounce its opposition...and we missed every single one of them. The goal we scored was a fluke coming from a crap pass Henderson made.

So, I do believe a little freaking out is completely warranted especially, since this is far from a one off...it's been this way the entire season including last week's Cup.

I've gotta agree with the post just above me! you've told it as it is!

Fair enough but bar the penalty which opportunity would another striker have put away maybe the one Suarez hot the post the rest of the opportunities weren't the strikers in our team really

What about Kelly's sitter, surely he knows to kick a ball!.
Actually Kelly was pretty poor today.

04 Mar 2012 01:07:48
I for after today's showing a against arsenal would love to bring van persie to Anfield!!

Get a better scouting system. sign a dutch kid for 2.75 million with a bad attitude..then 8 years later, he will be your captain and you may have the best striker in the world.

04 Mar 2012 00:31:39
we lost today, its ok. we might not finish 4th but our team is rebuilding. we played fine and boys were good but we just needed a bit of luck. i am optimistic about our future, we have europa league next season and soon FA cup as well, so we are improving, dont expect the change to happen overnight, our history wasnt made in a forthnight so coming history would take time, just be patience and wait for the changes. bdw we need a playmaker and a good finisher to give an edge to the team

Wake up! Let's face the grim reality. We have been rebuilding the team since 20 years ago!! We brought back a manager who left us a long time ago and buying average players at inflated prices. We still have Carra chasing after shadows at defence. At the moment we are at best 5th or 6th place and unless things change we will never challenge for the title. we still struggle against the likes of Norwich,Sunderland and even Blackburn. We need a man who can steer us to greater heights and players who can play consistently week in and week out. So please don't rest on false hopes that the boys will turn around.

Brother only thing u need is a bit of patience, our performance was outstanding, we had everything but luck. just wait things wil change

03 Mar 2012 23:57:36
Currently we have 39 points and 36 points (12 games) to play for.

Making a *possible* total of 75 points.

In the last 5 years, the average points total achieved for 4th place has been 70.8. (68 lowest and 76 highest)

The average points *needed* for 4th has been 64.4

For example - Last year Arsenal got 4th with 68 points but 63 would have done it (Spurs 5th on 62)

So as Bond would say - "It's not *impossible* only mathematically improbable..."

Our average points total in the last 2 (rebuilding seasons) has been 60.5.

For me, real progress would be if we managed anywhere in the 64-70 point range. This would show an improvement, regardless of 4th or not.

Well done if you managed to get through all that ;-)

"If you can't support us when we lose or draw , don't support us when we win"

If you cant spend £100m on players and improve the squad DONT BE OUR MANAGER!

Have to agree with the second poster

So who wud u of taken off for polson ngog and jovanovic? And ur rite prob better off with paul k at left bk instead of enrique.
If u didnt get my point we have a better squad.

Last year we won nothing. This year, we've got a cup, and can still get another. That shows an improvement...

BRUM won the same Cup! Fulham got to the Europa League Final the year before that. If you cant spend over £100m and get into the top 4 that is failure!
