When you are looking at signing average players from Swansea it is time to worry. What has our club come to?

And where have you heard we've been linked with these players? this is a rumours site mate, not a hard facts site, when people say "any chance we'll be signing Sinclair" This does not mean we're looking at signing him!

Red7. {Ed016's Note - Also the fact we can't buy any Swansea players for a year}

Supporters like you...that's what.

DaveyBootle

Im a reds fan living in swansea and having watched swans a number of times this season the only players worth our interest would be vorm and allen.plus siggurdsen who aint a swans player anyway !

04 Jun 2012 22:33:44
Liverpool need an out an out striker a proven goal scorer although Suarez is world class he can't do everything alone we need likes of llorente, soldado, Luuk de jong & we need a clear out
Henderson
Spearing
Adam
Downing
Aquaman
Cole

Any one agree ?

Big Cee

So we clear out 6 midfielders..... just stop mate.

04 Jun 2012 22:30:07
Intresting dilemma- if you had to pick only one who would you pick out of G.Ramirez and I.Afellay.

Ramirez is 5 years younger but would cost twice as much as Afellay.

Who would you pick?

The Rectangle

Try 3 times as much mate.

ACHILLES.

Gaston Ramirez

If you have to pick one it would have to be Ramirez becaus affelay is an injury risk. If he was not a huge risk then that would be a very hard pick

If Afellay wasn't an injury risk he'd cost about the same, and i would choose him. But he's a massive risk, hence the low pricetag, so on that note... i'd have Pablo Hernandez!

Red7.

Both could easily be bought

04 Jun 2012 22:10:07
Hi eds, what do you reckon we will do for a back up keeper next year, I fell Doni and Jones will leave us, is Gulasci ready or even good enough?
Thanks {Ed001's Note - difficult to say, Rodgers will probably assess it and might change things, but I did expect a back up to be signed before.}

04 Jun 2012 22:08:39
ED'S, it may sound stupid...but can i ask about Danny Wilson and what you think of him and if he might come in to replace carra(who will go as coach.) Thank's very much for all the hard work ED'S. Much thanks {Ed001's Note - for a minute then I was thinking about the Sheffield United manager and was wondering why you were asking about him! I don't think Danny Wilson is up to it, personally, he was poor for us, poor for the reserves and poor in his loan spell at Blackpool. I think he will leave us sooner, rather than later, unless Rodgers sees something in him.}

04 Jun 2012 22:05:58
Can't wait for macca to give us some inside info. Cheers eds for all the hard work. It is very much appreciated

04 Jun 2012 22:00:24
Macca have you heard about any rumours or possible signings
Plus I know you are tied these days leading England

04 Jun 2012 21:24:22
Eds, reference to earlier posts regarding BR tic aka style... Defenders splitting an cd dropping deep..for me if he is going to do this I would play SG has the brain and passing range for this that would allow us to bring in the likes of hoillet a.Johnson or soldado...... What u think? (Stevie has drove the team for years and I think he would flourish in a deeper role STEERING the reds) {Ed001's Note - possibly, it might be a good role for him as he ages, those bursting runs forward are becoming less and less regular.}

Sterling has to be given a chance over hoilett don't you think!?

Square tomato

Hoilett is over hyped and isn't very good. He is only getting mentioned because of his contract situation. If he had 4 years left at Blackburn he wouldn't even get a mention.
Sterling will become 10 times the player Hoilett is.

I'd rather prefer it if Lucas stayed in that deeper role.

Hoilett is quick and he has good balance. That's about all though. Good player but not Liverpool good.

Len

Have we bought Hoilett already?

04 Jun 2012 21:12:48
ED01 who do you think was better Drogba or Henry?

RED91 {Ed001's Note - impossible to answer, they are such completely different players, though I would rather have Henry in my team, Drogba would drive me mad with his diving and play acting. So, I guess that means it isn't impossible to answer and I would say Henry, thinking about it! Which would you choose?}

Completely different styles so pointless comparing them.

Henry was one of a kind! he was brilliant. just look at the number of times he made carragher and hyppia look stupid. he even took the hand out of puyol and ferdinand and such too. i think drogba is very reliant on his build. much more than henry relied on his skill.
derryred

Henry .

Henry all day!!
Kp

Henry all day , in his day total class , andy.

Very different players but lets face it, henry was a far better player, best in the world in his prime..

LFC-IRE

Drogba didn't when it counted though, how many finals did he score in?
Henry never quite managed it when it counted!

dmedly

Very different players, but i guess that's the aim of the question, which style would you rather if you had to pick one of them?

Personally i'd have Henry any day, just class. Drogba hits pruple patches and kills it, then gets dropped and goes quiet, so for me "form is temporary, class is permanent".

Red7.

Drogba is a body builder with a pair of football boots;). Walcott is a sprinter, Torres is a hair care product, and bale is a monkey.
AnfieldUSA

Henry was one of the most enjoyable footballers to watch , drogba is a beast and is super effective at what he does , but in terms of sustained brilliance for me its henry, some of the things he did were just sublime

Torres was better than both without the injuries

Well I've spotted my first " in Rodgers we trust" statement on this site. Got to say we don't half have some bell*nds supporting our club - some screaming blue murder cause we didn't appoint Rafa, some acting like BR is the second coming! A bit of common sense lads come on!

What do you want? They are showing support!
Bazzaa

"In Rodgers we trust" What exactly is wrong with that? He is our manager and as far as i'm concerned I will support him and our club 100% and trust him 100%,he deserves this off all of us surely.
Bob

Some people seem to forget that trust is something you earn. BR hasn't even had a game in charge yet.

Ash

I have to admit am taken by brendon rogers his 1st interview went well very assured knows what he wants, most importantly knows he is at a huge club. Humble yet ruthless

I doubt your a liverpool fan probobly from another site. i don't see why you would say something like that because there hasn't been blue murder over benitez not getting appointed, in fact everyone seems to have moved on. hopefully things won't change after BR's first defeat
derryred

No I take the point, there has been a bit of over egging hysteria. Granted good appointment but all the hysteria and comparisons with Shanks before a balls been kicked. Come on lads, calm down a bit.

Ozone

Good to see Ash has faith...as always!

dmedly

'In Rodgers we trust' doesn't quite go, does it? That's got to change. A bit cliche now.

DaveyBootle

Trust is something you earn through results, but respect is something you earn by paying it yourself, which he has done already.

In Rodgers we rodger every team. How about that?

I think he'll be a good manager for us dmedly. I just don't get carried with a manager who's been in the job a week!

Ash

What about the buck stops with Rogers

In mantra's we trust

It is a bold statement to say that just yet, he has not even taken charge of a game yet

04 Jun 2012 21:12:21
well to the guy who gave us the bad news. actually good news we wouldnt want a utd fan playing for us, and secondly siggurdsson aint that great anyway and not the class of player we should be looking at if we have ambitions of getting back in top 4 or better still. So there!!

What Man Utd fans like Alan Hansan? When players join us they fall in love with our club! Like Kenny Rangers fan as a kid but fell in love with the better club CELTIC. Fowler Carra etc they all get wise!

04 Jun 2012 20:56:51
Why does everyone hate Charlie Adam and want him out the door, he's the sort of player who could hurt us next season if we let him go? He was our top assist maker with 12 Assists and was injured for half a season, even as a back up he is decent? Well better than Spearing any! way Eds what's your views on him?

Cheers

Dano {Ed016's Note - I think he started to look poor when Lucas got injured and he had to track back more. His tackling is very poor it's either that or his positioning when defending was very poor. One or the other. However when he was in the midfield he did well, when in his natural position. I see that he could be a decent back up for Gerrard next season.}

End of the day 8 million isn't an awful lot and he did have a good first half of the season. i agree he will be a good backup player until shelvey has developed fully.
derryred

When he played in a more attacking role, he and Downing really linked up well, i'd like to see this happen more.

A good back up to gerrard is shelvey.

8m for 3 goals and 12 assists. I'd take that any day of the week.
AnfieldUSA

He's too slow, can't tackle and chooses the wrong option 8 times out of 10. I'm really disappointed with CA. I thought he was gonna be good for us but he just looks out of his depth.

Len

Cos he is craop falls over concedes possesion in dangerous areas of the field which he could get away with when lucas was covering his arse but once lucas was injured then charlie adam became an expensive liabilty

I would rather let Shelvey go on loan as his has potential to be more than a back up as he shown towards the end of the season

04 Jun 2012 20:56:05
ED's any interest in Jordy Clasie?

Cheers, Phil The BUTCHER {Ed016's Note - Not heard Butcher, but when I do will let you know}

Nice name

davethebutcher

04 Jun 2012 20:21:18
Hey Ed(s), fellow reds!
I've compiled a team of our current crop of players that would fit in with Rodgers's style of formation.
1: Reina
2: Skrtel Agger
3: Lucas
4: Johnson Enrique
5: Gerrard/Hendo Adam/Jonjo
6: Suarez Maxi/Downing
7: Carroll
8: Attack zone (Y) :)

1st team replacements:
Sigurdsson-Adam
Mertens/Munaian/??-Maxi
Back up replacements:
Back up for Lucas-Diame?
Back up for Enrique-Vargas?
Back up for Suarez-Boudebouz?
Back up for Carroll-Luuk D. Jong/Jackson Martinez

Cheers
RedSox69

Based on this past seasons form, there is no way Luuk de Jong would be Carrolls back up. It would be the other way around. de Jong scored a gazillion goals and as many assists this season, and quite frankly, apart from our last few games, Carroll has been rubbish this season.

Steve

Steve in the dutch league andy carroll would probably get 40 odd goals a season
giblet

Giblet, based on this past seasons form your kidding yourself.

Steve

Steve well for newcastle he had 14 in 18 games before he signed for us so he has showed he can do it at a lot higher level than the dutch league take dirk for example he had a excellent goal scoring record in the dutch league but he didnt have even a quarter of the goals he had there good player often played out of position but the dutch league is no where near the same quality as the premier league and im not kidding myself andy carroll is a good player just took a longer time to settle probably due to the weight of expectation and having to get used to a whole new system of play he will be a good player for us

Please post ed's don't know wether your heard of his name (Cedric mabwati)his national team DR Congo and league team numancia good lil player and only 20 years of age and probably quite cheap have we ever been intrested? Good work by the way.4everred {Ed016's Note - Sorry but never heard of him. Try running a search to see if he has been discussed in the past}

Think someones been playing fifa 12 lol i bought him from second division in spain lol But ive never seen him play.

ACHILLES.

A yh he has been playing fifa the only reason this guy likes him is the fact that is very fast ahaha

No no no no no, but Ahmed Musa instead, he's very fast. (FIFA, of course)

What about marvel wynne aswell? best defender on fifa XD

Go on BR great to see an Irish connection back at our great club.

Chris D.

He's not Irish - he's British and would take great offence to you referring to him as Irish

BR could well bring the Irish look that we've missed in the past few seasons.
dave.

Brendan Rodgers is Irish. Regardless of constitutional status of the six counties he is a man from a Irish nationalist area who was a proud member of the GAA and a Celtic fan as a kid.

Brendan is not sectarian in any way and embraces new cultures etc but he would prefer to be called Irish.

Any way what is British? I can get my head round English Welsh Scottish and Irish but not some stupid invention.

04 Jun 2012 20:09:13
Sigurdsson will join liverpool, he isnt a swansea player, he was on loan and they have only agreed a fee, he hasn't signed, also who ever said he was having a medical was a lie, he won't join reading because liverpool will offer him more and liverpool is a bigger club than reading! from a swansea fan....

04 Jun 2012 20:08:43
Someone just wrote our season collapsed after Adam got injured. Best laugh I've had all month.

Papa G {Ed016's Note - yeah more like when Lucas got injured. We need another DM every season we seem to get our best one injured and have to use a player who is 50% of the first choice it costs us games over and over.}

Diame is a must on a free plus it would allow you to offload spearing and maybe loan Jonjo to a priemier league club possibly Swansea etc

I agree that the Lucas injury was our teams Achilles last season,and it was also the reason for Charlies decline.The pair had started to get an understanding. Somehow I doubt Whether they will get a chance to reignite their partnership.

04 Jun 2012 20:04:12
Alan Thompson was sacked as Neil Lennon's assistant yesterday he's to be replaced by Steve Clarke.

04 Jun 2012 19:24:53
Hi EDs, any updates in Beguiristain? Balague has twitted the interest has cooled? {Ed002's Note - Personally I doubt he will moving to Liverpool.}

04 Jun 2012 19:23:53
I agree almost 100%. Maxi stats are great when he gets a chance and Defoe overrated and too injury prone but agree otherwise. Adam is the biggest waste of money ever. Still hold out hope for Carroll and Henderson

Maxi is the invisible man mate.He disappears in matches ,he might pop up in the box on occasion and score the odd goal after taking off his Harry Potter cloak.Hopefully he will leave and be replaced by someone who can have more of an all round impact on matches.

Well defoe is overrated

Would people get off the Dempsey band wagon. I'm an American and I dont want him anywhere near liverpool. Sure he had a great season but hes not that good. I have been watching him for years and never been impressed. Why would liverpool what him? His 29, plays as a forward or right behind the striker seeing we already have people that fill that area... suárez, gerrard, Jojo, henderson... I watch the game last night US vs Canada and he was nowhere to be found. Just because we have american owners doesn't mean we are getting an American. Plus there are far better American strikers out there then Dempsey.
1 name i give you is Herculez Gomez 1yr older cheaper(plays for Pachuca) and is far cheaper. If we were looking for comparable

Good lord when you said hercules Gomez was better than dempsey the Post lost all credibility

If you think Gomez is good enough for lfc while Dempsey is not then you may need your health checked mate. Gomez is just fast. If that's all that mattered we might as well be in for usain bolt

I cannot believe you tried to say gomes was better than dempsey. what in the world have you been watching mate

He's been having good seasons for quite a while now.It is certainly not a one off,I for one think he would be a great signing for us.

A Texan Red here.

As an avid follower of American soccer, I have to say I am ashamed of the knowledge of this American. There's no way Hercules is better than Clint. Clint is possibly our best player bar Howard and you could make a case for Donovan.

hulmerous

I agree, if Dempsey is the answer then we may as well give up and go home. He's not good enough for Liverpool, and he's not gonna get any better as he is nearly thirty.

David

Dempsey is the best outfield player ever to come out of the US. He is easily good enough for LFC.

Original post is a joke. {Ed016's Note - His scoring record is pathetic, he is not good enough at all. He wasn't even that good in the MLS.}

Dempsey has consistently been the US best player for the last few years {Ed016's Note - Not saying much}

Landon dovan. The best american player, sorry eds.
AnfieldUSA

He's a match of the day player. Like Maxi or Raul M (not spelling that!) he looks good in a highlights reel.

Len

Joey Barton punched outside Liverpool nightclub. Merseyside police said to be treating the incident as "hilarious"

Brilliant!

04 Jun 2012 19:02:11
Yeah, so FSG going to sell Agger, Skrtel, Reina, Suarez, Glen Johnson..
+ Kuyt left as will Maxi!

Tiki Taka here we come!

Spear headed by Scouse Midfield Maestro Jay SPearing, England's finest left winger Stewart Downing, Brightest English young talents with unhuman potential in Henderson & Andy Carroll.

And to arrive super talent Victor Mosses, midfield Bulldozer Mohamed Diame.

Futures bright, FSG knows the way forward. And thats by selling the best players at the club & replacing with over expensive Bull shi##.

Who cares about top 4, with such players, changes we are guaranteed champions for next season.

ANd what nice away kit, am loving it.

SULK
Bosco

I hope this is a joke? If it isn't then your one deluded fool (replace with alternatives if feeling more offensive).

Papa G

You sound depressed Bosco, please seek help.

i would like the eds to back me up on this.. am i the only fan that doesn't want Adam Johnson to sign. sure he might come at cut price. however he will of course be on high wages. and also he is so predictable, all he does is run, feint, feint, then cut inside and shot. and he is a bit like sturidge doesn't like to really pass. we can get better wingers across the continent e.g ryad boudebez. who is really good, quick feet and is an out and out winger e.g takes his man on with pace or trickery and then whip it in. preferably ed 01 what do you think {Ed001's Note - I think, as well as that, he has a real attitude problem, he has not improved his game since he was 17. It is a shame, he has a great talent but would rather spend his time partying than making use of it.}

Maybe he has wated his talent, and not saying i think he is the best for us, but gazza and george best has those problems and while on the field were ok! ;)

gareth

Have to disagree, the lads class and I'd have him over any of our wingers

Why do we have any

He's a 'Match of the day' player, in that he only looks good in highlights. I bet all those advocating his signing have never watched him for ninety minutes. Thank god some of the halfwits on this site are only ever let loose on Championship manager.

David

04 Jun 2012 19:01:03
Are we doing Wishlists this year?

Top of mine would be Soldado. We should break the bank for this lad, a pure goalscorer, just what we lacked last season.

Would also like to see Clasie and Affelay, maybe Sigurdson on the cheap. Matt Phillips of Blackpool also on the radar but don't know how he fits into Rodger's system.

2-2-1-2-2-1

Reina
Agger,Skrtel
Johnson, Enrique
Lucas
Gerrard,Henderson
Suarez, Soldado
Carroll

Ronaldo, messi, aguero ect

Well if its wishlists top of mine would be messi and ronaldo and saldado would not figure

Hooper from celtic would be wortha look at

If we are doing wishlist, at the top of mine would be myself. Simples.

Dirk Kuyt

@Dirk_18_Kuyt

It was an honour to read psalm 23 @ the hillsborough memorial service. Let there be justice for the 96. They will never be forgotten!

Fellow reds... I ddnt really see much of sigurdsson last season, so could someone care to tell me about him.. Is he any good? Won't he just be another Charlie Adam?

Random Red

For £7m Sigurdsson is a steal, he scores goals with both feet and his head. He is also a free kick specialist and long distance goal scorer remind you of anyone?!

The fact that he's Icelandic and coming from a second rate German team reduces his market value, if he was Brazillian and coming from AC Milan or Munich his value would probably be £15m.

He is a player that is comfortable under Rodgers, has a good goal scoring record and would probably come in and start scoring from that attacking mid position straight away.

Shelvey is no where near the finshed article and should be loaned to Swansea for a season (where Hollaway may be taking over Shelvey worked on loan under Hollaway last season at Blackpool).

The chances are Gerrard will have to be managed carefully again this season so the attacking mid postion is important to fill especially in Rodgers's system and they must be a goal scorer, which tend to be expensive.

I think Sigurdsson at £7m (and 22yrs old) would be a wise move as his wages won't be massive and it free's up cash to buy quality for the Zone 6 winger(s) and Striker.

Cheers JY

BR really rates him and sees him as a goal scoring midfielder that are hard to come by these days. He also compared him to a young Frank Lampard.
Skurks {Ed016's Note - Without the attitude}

Faster and much more promise then adam at 22 vs 26/27ish

Sigurdson will be deployed in the same way he was at swansea whilst adam's blackpool role and liverpool role were different

INS:
Striker - Soldado
Centre midfielders - Banega & Elm
Winger - Belhanda

OUTS:
Spearing, Adam, Aquilani (if he wants to go), Kuyt (done)

Reina
Johnson Skrtel Agger Enrique
Lucas Banega
Belhanda Gerrard Suarez
Soldado

Subs: Doni, Jones, Kelly, Coates, Carragher, Flanagen, Robinson, Downing, Elm, Henderson Carroll, Maxi, Sterling, Suso, Ngoo

I'd say that looks pretty could and all are realistic targets if we decided to go for them. Opions welcomed.

RDR

I would love to see belhanda playing for us. class player.

Swap elm with Ramirez or Munian and that's good

Elm&benaga&lucas would be my dream midfielder. People forget the Lucas can Play in a more attacking role like he did in brazil to. Midfield tactics later
Reina and the defensive needs a little tweaks Untill it's solid. A left back who can defend. I feel Kelly and Johnson have the right back slot covered? I'll talk about the tactics a later.
Wingers- two are needed ATLEAST, 3 will be the best option though. Maybe wingers like suseta

Ok folks calm down a bit we know the away kit isn't the greatest as I scroll down the page there is so much about a jersey! A feckin jersey get over it lads if ya don't like it don't buy it, at least we haven't had a pink one! Its the results that matter.
Cheers
Des {Ed001's Note - I don't like it, but I will still buy it.}

I dont like it and wont buy it
lol
gareth

Des / Ed,
Whilst FSG are in the sacking mood, somebody should go for designing that thing !
Lol. Horrible.
All I can say is, the football had better be good this coming season. Especially away from home !
The Real KB {Ed016's Note - That "thing" has a great link to our history and at least it has a bit of soul behind it, a little thought put into it. I understand you might not like the look. But its better than the soulless addidas kits that look the exact same from Stoke to Chelsea to last seasons kit. It's just a reminder to everyone that at one point Liverpool was a massive hub for the port and at one point very much the centre of world trade. Be proud of your history and what Liverpool the city is about. It's amazing how good a place can become when people respect it. That's why I don't think they should get the "Sack".}

Sounds like you're a marketing mans dream there ed. Liverpool played in white shorts and a red top until 64. What about if they brought that back instead of the all red ?
F'ing about with the top for the sake of it. We should be red for home, white away with black shorts if needs be. I say for the sake of it, but actually for the sake of revenue would be more accurate.
And how are the adidas strips soul-less ?
Classic simple look from 70s continental style. Same as the trainers mate.
The Real KB

And how do the club make the money to spend on transfers.
I can't get to many games so don't mind contributing in the way of merchandise be it me or buying shirts for my son!!!

Have to admit i was gutted when i first looked at it this morning! BUT as the days gone on and i have been back to look at it(maybe 15 20 times) its actually quite nice. think the shirt would be better all black but still nice, think of some of the shirts adidas gave us! this is warriors 1st season im sure they will take notice of what people think this year and come back better next,like the home shirt i wasnt so keen but now i love it!

swedish adam!

Yeah i agree. I loved the addidas ones.
kopfiend 1978 ynwa

I like it - makes the players look like monsters.

Both the home and away kits are brilliant in my opinion. I always buy a home shirt, and never an away one, but I might buy the away one this season as well, given how impressive they are. Well done Warrior!

as it didn't get posted the first time, ed's are we interested in Giovanni Dos Santos and Jordy Clasie?

Matt Wollacott {Ed001's Note - maybe it's because it has been asked and answered a hundred times?}

hazard just signed for chelsea

Should that not say, hazard has just signed for abramovich and so the manager will be told to play him no matter what he thinks, a bit like the spanish dud. oh, and he's no great shakes !

Tbh I couldnt give a fi........ {Ed002's Note - Actually the previous poster is somewhat wide of the mark. Whilst it was Mr Aramovich's money, it was the Director of Football who ran with this one.}

Who's chelsea's DOF?

Well, end of the day , as much as hazard comes across as a total pr*ck, there is no doubting he is class, so regardless of who their manager is he is for sure gonna want to play him ... IMO the manager should be RDM but he will probably get sacked for losing a pre season friendly.

04 Jun 2012 18:28:38
Like most players Suarez has his faults, passion can turn into aggression and over spill but he's not the first world class player to do this.

Players also have different positives to their play and alot of top players share those same positives - like scoring a goal they have made on their own out of nothing but Suarez has a unique talent which is the shear will to recover possession in the final 3rd.

This is acutal truth... it has been proven that winning back possession in the final 3rd leads to goals.

The stats state that Suarez chases the ball down more than any striker in the league, he has the highest number of ball interceptions in the oppositions 1/3 than any other player - by far. I don't have the numbers but you can google it, it was on tomkins times the other month but was on other websites also.

This makes him very valuable indeed to our high pressing system that will be implemented, whether he plays out wide or up front and i'm certain Rodgers will be aware of this.

I guarantee if Suarez has quality players around him, after Rodgers has educated his style, Suarez will easily retain the ball in possession and play 'tika-takka'. On the ball he has the best technique in our squad and will only get better.

Put it this way it will be alot easier for LFC to win games and reach the top 4 with him in our squad than without him, no matter who else we can realistically buy to replace him. Selling him would be a gamble, and I know they have provded a record shirt deal but if he is sold to appease Standard Chartered then that would be very sad indeed.

Players make mistakes Cantona, Rooney, Cole to name a few but everyone deserves a second chance...

Cheers JY

Well said mate. It would be a huge mistake and would turn a lot of supporters against the owners

Don't see why SC should be annoyed with him; the most number of shirts with their name on also have his on it. {Ed002's Note - That is one reason they might be pissed with him.}

Haha hy would they be mad about that. If the point is to get their name out their. Methinks their lucky to have him on the same shirt as their "company"

Quick question for those who want fallaini. Why? Apart from being crap can you imagine the injuries in training he would cause elbowing every one in the face. He is the one player I hate more than drogba

Eric the red

He is actually one of the most under rated players about in my opinion but I don't think we need him

I'd like to see this happen this summer:
In:
Sigurdsson/Gaston Ramirez, Muniain, Luuk De Jong, Dempsey, Juan-Manuel Vargas and get Diame on a free if Aquilani can't be persuaded to stay.

Out:
Aureli (gone) Kuyt (gone) Cole, Dani Pacheco, Spearing, Adam, Maxi, Ecclestone, Doni/Jones, Shelvey (loan) Flanagan (loan) Robinson (loan) Coady (loan).

Then promote Sterling, Suso and Adam Morgan to the first team squad permanently

Morgan is not ready

I wish everyone that wants Aquilani at LFC would disappear.

Eds,
What are our chances of signing someone who was produced by the Barcelona academy?, as someone with that style could help Brendan to convert the team to tiki taka faster. Or for instance a coach ex/coach, or trainer from Barcelona? I understand that some of you might say "we don't need no Barcelona mentality, we need our own style", but lets be honest, they are the best at what we are going to be!

PJ {Ed001's Note - such as Rodolfo Borrell or Pep Segura for instance?}

Ha!Ha! I love it .. good note

Possession isn't the problem. I hope Rogers can see that our problem wasn't in keeping the ball - we often had 70% possession at home last season. The problem was the final ball and the finish.

I like pass and move but it has to have an end product. Even Barca struggle with the great technically gifted midfielders that they have.

We don't have a messi or an iniesta to beat men and make a killer pass.

I hope this is addressed when we come to buy this summer. Saurez was the only one who is capable of beating his man on a regular basis last season.

I'm not sure about how we hope to keep the ball when away from home either. We will have to wait and see. Are we the poor mans arsenal now?

A tricky winger and a poacher has to be priority for me.

Mind you, when you watch Barca they almost don't bother with strikers - with the back four the only ones who hold there shape.

I'm sure Rogers understands that you won't be able to go into the merseyside derby or the Utd games playing tippy tappy football without being murdered on the break. We haven't got the players to do it.

Still - he talks the talk, eh?

An apprehensive Gazman

Yes yes yes! Suarez was the only player capable of dribbling past players and making things happen in the that department, this is why dempsey and sigurdsson are not suitbale, they are not renown for their ability to beat a man, we need more players of Suarez calibre and those two are not!

You also talk the talk, only you talk a pile of garbage, he's done nothing yet but you have already judged and condemned him, you really are the type of fan that clubs like our's could well do without!

MR EM

I haven't condemned anyone.. I cant help feeling defensive after the last few years my angry friend - Its my club for life MR EM

I wouldnt agree with the original post but I agree with his right to express his opinion , which he did well.

One day i think all the posters on this site, (As well as the EDs) should all bring lots of food and drink and meet on a field in the middle of summer.

What a day, imagine the conversations.

How very sad is it, that players such as Carrick and Michah Richards "Do not want to be on stanby for England" haha its madness.
Years ago it would of been an honor now they think theyre too good and its to much of a reputation damager.

What is football coming too

Well richards only has himself to blame on missing out on a major tournament playing for his country, he should realise that you only live once and his football career isn't a rehersal. It would be funny if england some how won it and these ego maniacs were sat at home lol.

I really hope we don't go for Sigurdsson and Dempsey. In my personal opinion we need south american flair.

Sigurdsson for me would be a steal at £6.8m. The lad has really got somethin about him and at just 22 could turn out to be a terrific player.

South american flair? sigurdsson will fit into liverpool as we need goals from midfield which he offers. he sets play up aswell and will unlock oposition defence in the final 3rd. as for dempsey he also gets goals, for me no need to gamble on unproved south americans. what u think edds or u with him? {Ed001's Note - I rate Dempsey, he does most of his work unseen, bullying defenders, creating space for other players and pops up in the box to score goals too. Good in the air, strong, comfortable on the ball, I would have him in my team ahead of most of the suggestions I have seen. Sigurdsson would certainly be an upgrade on our squad, he would slot very well into Rodgers' system, as he showed at Swansea. I don't see why he is seen as such a bad signing.}

He's 29 though, aren't we looking for younger players.

We need players with pace wide and players that excite in addition to a striker
If I was Rodgers Munian Ramirez soldado/de Jong / higuain / falcoa
I know the last two are never happening and probably Munian and Ramirez is is really unlikely as well
This would definately sort our goal scoring problem though

04 Jun 2012 17:41:35
Ed do you think that soldado will be one of those targets recommended to BR as we were interested in him before? {Ed016's Note - Not sure. I hope so he is a brilliant player}

These are the quality of players that will help us reach the top and should be considered as one of our 'priority targets' instead of dempsey and sigurdsson.

E.H LFC

Soldado wouldnt cut in the prem, hes too slow, practically made to be a la liga player

Who would you prefer Ed016 Soldado or Luuk De Jong?
I think soldado is a more natural finisher?
Skurks {Ed016's Note - I think De Jong would adjust to prem better}

i wouldn't let him touch the u18-19 or reserves he'd take Pep, Borrell and Mike marsh's hard work and corrupt it with long balls and clear outs.

Who are you talking about? If it's is BR have not seen the clip on LFC Website of his Swansea reserve team against us? If he can get the talented youngsters we have to play like that then we will have a great future!

Please post: Opinions please

Can someone explain to me what the attraction of Luuk De Jong is? He looks like an average striker even in the Dutch league, which is a very weak league defensively. It is also a slow league.
The premiership is a physical and fast paced league. De Jong would fail badly in the premiership in my opinion.

Can anyone tell me what I'm missing?

I even checked his YouTube tribute video and he missed about the first 7 chances he had........on a tribute video!!

He's got a great scoring record. Your opinion is based on a youtube video.

Red Ollie

Soldado is our man if we need a striker!

Agree with Red Ollie but i would prefer Soldado to Luuk De Jong....
Skurks

I wouldn't mind Gary hooper as he is a natural goal scorer mind you before jelavic came to England I would of laughed at the thought of hopper

Soldado is 26 and luuk dejong is 23. Luuk is going to be 2x the player soldado is at age 27. But still, soldado is a truly brilliant player.

Dear god no.

04 Jun 2012 17:31:31
we should offer 35m for munian and susaeta, buy eriksen for 15m, get clasie 8m and de jong 12m. perfect summer. {Ed016's Note - Eriksen would cost a lot more than 15 million}

Eriksen for 15m LOL what planet are you on? Have you seen him? 35/40m would probably be a better estimate!

Ed016 obviously has n't got a clue as the OP purchased these players on Fm and also won the quadruple first season. Your not fit to comment Eds. Do your homework and actually play the game. Im fed up off you going on 'FACTS' {Ed001's Note - he got Eriksen for that? Damn, I had to pay 45m on my game, gutted now!}

I'd say 30 mill 40 is abit extreme.

04 Jun 2012 17:23:27
I have to say, it is shocking that so many people think that the players we most need to offload are the ones who had nothing to do with last season's disaster. I've seen people want to get rid of

--Aquilani
--Maxi
--Spearing
--Cole
--Doni

etc etc

Are you serious?! the first names that should be out the door are

--Downing
--Henderson
--Adam

and maybe Carroll.

Aquilani is about 100x better than our current midfielders, and you want him... gone?!? and Maxi, you want him gone too when he did nothing but score hat tricks for fun before getting dropped for "Left Wing Jesus" Downing who hid like a little girl 99% of the season? you want Maxi gone before Downing?

FFS {Ed016's Note - Why Hendo or Carrol? what's the point. Both still extremely young for their positions lots of potential, one day you will eat those words. Apart from that....sure I don't see anything wrong with shipping out Downing and Adam}

Im sure this guy was one of the Lucas haters aswell.....

Surely if you watch us play every week you can see the potential of the above players?

Yes, Adam should go but Downing? Yes he had an awful season but if we base who we sell on last season we should sell the lot of them!

Downing is not world class but he has a top left foot and pace....

Carroll will go on to great things with LFC, then we'll see you on here in a year or two posting our new look team built around him.

Henderson, ffs mate can you not see the boy was played out of position? He still has a lot to learn and he will get there. I remember the league game at chelsea last season, he came on with 15mins to go and was instrumental. It was 1-1 at the time and we were defending like lions then he came on and swung the possession back our way.... this is just one example of why I look forward to witnessing his growth into a top player for us!

Aqualani is s**t.... simple as that. I would hold him in the same bracket as Miereles, they can both play ok when they really want to, but they hate tackles and hate to put a shift in when your backs against the wall.

That is why it has taken 3 years for anyone to actually show any intent on signing him.

Maxi has done ok for us, great goal threat ect... but he wants to go home and I wish him luck in the future.

Cole is someone we could/should keep but I certainly wouldn't play him in the centre of midfield at the expense of Gerrard and Lucas...

Spearing will probably be given a season by Rodgers due to his age and commitment to the cause, but at this stage of his career I don't think he will go on to be the player some people wish. He is a terrier and loves to chase people around, but has no real finesse to his play.

And Doni.... well he kinda screwed himself when he got his chance by seeing red.... might have been the fact he was rusty, but it was a BIG mistake he made and at his age, he probably won't get another golden chance to make a name for himself...

LFC Till I Die {Ed016's Note - I only say downing because he did play poor last season and he is older}

Thats fine if you would rather put a fat, lazy, selfish player in Aquilani who doesn't even want to be at the club or even in this country ahead of a young and hungry player in Henderson who would run all day and fight his heart out for the shirt and who has the time and drive to improve himself.

I know ed, it was a reply to the post. I do agree that he was woeful last year but its clear he can deliver and score goals.

I certainly wouldn't sell this year. To reach the top 4 we need 2 good wingers and love him or hate him, if he plays for us as he did for Villa then he can do well for us.

LFC Till I Die

Fat? Are we talking about the same Albert?

Myk

Aquilani is better than Henderson in every single department at this moment in time, hence why AC Milan wanted him! Henderson is only rated because he's young, English and all england supporters are clinging to the hope he will become the next amazing centre midfielder if they believe in his 'ability'. What has he ever done to show he is worth 16m? Someone pleaaase tell me, fair enough Carroll banged in goals for newcastle before he came, but henderson... c'mon.

Jay {Ed001's Note - but Milan don't want Aquilani, or he would have signed for them!}

I would run all day and fight for the shirt but i am rubbish just like henderson , but hey give him all the time he wants he might get to be good ,sadly do we have that time as any more seasons like the last two and we will be down there with wigan etc and to those who think it will not happen look back a few years and see what happened to man utd . red mick tag

I hate when people say 'run all day' or they 'work really hard' and use this to say how good a player is. Theres plenty of league two players that'll do that, dont make them good enough quality to play for us! It's good when players work hard for the shirt but who really cares if they lack any real quality to improve the team..

I don't think people like you understand football, replace JH14 with fat aqua? Behave yourself boy!

Have just had a look at the new away strip.

Star Trek comes to mind. I shan't be buying one of them! At least I know I'll be buying the home kit - they've made any decision making swift and easy!

Nick {Ed016's Note - No one is going to force anyone to buy the away kit, what do you expect? we normally have one bad looking strip per season anyway. Atleast they tried something different unlike adidas we were pretty much wearing same kit at Chelsea last year}

Spot on ed.... I remember the grey away shirt a couple years ago, hated it at first but it surprisingly grew on me...

This new away kit is deffo better looking then that lol

One of the reasons Kenny had to be replaced, in my opinion, is that several players would have walked this summer, if he had stayed. Including some who are regulars starters.

Kuyt would not have been the only one leave.

I suspect the owners must have realized this also.

And it's fine to say "let them leave" but there is a limit to how many new players you can integrate into a team. Last season demonstrated that.

What you on about they loved kenny

What exactly is that opinion based on?

Red Ollie

8th place finish, body language of players during the season, comments after season ended (eg "I am staying" - who needs to say that if it is not an issue?), etc.

Love the away kit.

Like how Warrior have not simply made a black version of the home kit and thrown 3 stripes on it - as Adidas would have done.

Instead, they have done their homework, and created something different, based on the city's maritime heritage and the kit from a century ago.

Well done, Warrior.

It looks like a wet suit. We will look like a scuba diving team. Terrible kit if u ask me.

Hey, here's a completely crazy idea... but it might just work and could save all of our sanity!

Instead of the usual, We should sign ****** or sell ****** because he's awesome, I have watched him on 12 YouTube clips and scores 40+ goals a season on champ manager.... How about we give the guys who are paid by the club a chance to do their jobs? While we just sit back, relax and look forward to the new season.

Lets face it, there is a reason these guys are paid to do the job and we aren't....

Keep up the awful rumours though... I do enjoy reading some of the more funny ones

From what iv seen on here it looks like Sigurdsson, Muniain and De Jong would be preferred signings, can see us getting all three aswell, would like Rasmus Elm to come in aswell, top class CM. I think those 3/4 signings would put us in contention for top 4 again, how are we for maintained interest in Muniain and Elm eds? Our interest in Sigurdsson and De Jong is already well covered.

True, but kit is pretty bad {Ed016's Note - So? You don't have to buy it}

I love it. I think it has got "Whamm!", "Pow!", "Splatt!", "Glipp!", "Bap!", "Clank!", "Thwack!", "Zlonk!" and "Kapow!"

I don't think its that bad. I've seen a lot worse, esspecially away kits. I do love the home kit aswell.

04 Jun 2012 16:11:24
Eds ..

I remember Rodgers mentioning in his interview on club website that one of the significant part possession based football is how quickly one gets the ball back.

With such an importance on gaining back possession, the role of Lucas Leiva becomes all the more important and crucial in Brendan's strategy / tactics. Hope he'll be back in training before our campaign kicks - off !

And speaking of possession then how do you rate this quality in current squad?

From what I've seen of suarez...he doesn't give away the ball easily if it's at his feet...if someone does steal it from him the hard way, he goes to ground...and with the kind of reputation he built for himself, ref won't pay any heed...even if it's genuine foul...

Carroll at the start of campaign use to give away lots and lots of possession ..but towards the end he was a prolific anchor in the final third ..besides we've seen him coming back in defense to get back the ball.

Eds ..would like your thoughts on this.

Indian Kopite {Ed016's Note - Obviously important to win the ball back as soon as it is lost. But you can't rely on one player doing it, you need the whole team pressing as soon as you lose the ball. Suarez would do much better if he took a few less touches some times, more control pass and move. Carrol again started to show he can pass and move, does have a good touch and you could see he has some vision.}

A lot of people keep going on about players work rate although they put 110% in,that is the problem with the English game,in this country hard working and disciplined kids make it as a pro more than the gifted kids that's why we are hopeless at pass and move but we can defend well.watching England compared to every1 else just shows the lack of quality in are players.where strong in Europe at club level but how many English players are in the top teams.

luuk de jong is obviously a possibility but there is also about 6/7 other teams who can offer champions league football, to be in contention domestically and offer better wages than ourselves, and if rumours are anything to go by then its benfica who he will be ending up at, they are the only club to make a formal approach.

gaston ramirez, well him his agent and napoli all seem to think the deal is done for him to join them so unless something crazy happens where napoli folds and then man city decide they arnt interested no more is the only way we will get him.

marouane fellaini, cummon i mean do people really think he will come, sure he would improve us and yes we have euro league football and they dont and could offer better wages but the problem is he loves it across the park, and cost them 15 million, hes a far better player now so your talking 22 million to any other team and probably 30 million to us, you think we will pay that for a position we have depth in?

ibrahim affelay, well its simple isnt it, people saying 5/6 million, well he cost barca 8 million when he had just a year left on his psv contract, hes made the dutch squad, villanovas said he has a key role to play next season for barca, so basically we are getting him for less than they paid when he was at his cheapest and hes just sacking off the promise of first team football for the current best team in europe to come play with us in the euro league, cummon be realistic.

personally i think no one will leave bar suarez and thats only if a huge offer comes in, i think theyve probably sat down and said look lets forget last season new manager new expectations and fresh faces coming in under a manager who likes the continental style of play.

i reckon gylfi sigurdsson is a maybe depending on if it was rodgers the reason he was joing swansea permenantly, if so then its likely we will get him, a back up striker to carrol, as i think he found form in the last few games, i think he will have a decent euros come back and rodgers will play to his strengths with the 433 formation, a better back up keeper and young centre back to be brought through with a veloso style midfielder to come in also
what do you reckon ed? or is this where i get given grief for not saying we are getting cavani, neymar, willian, xabi alonso brought back and maicon, title contenders next season, sorry people im realistic

Barcelona bought Afellay for £3 million.

Looking at the possible Chelsea squad next year is it possible that one of them will be available for transfer this season?

4-3-3

Ivanovic, Terry, Cahill, Cole
Essien Lampard Mata
Hulk Torres Hazard

Now this means their bench is filled with:
Ramires [their player of the season last year imo], Malouda [who can still perform but his wages might be too high], Marin [who they recently purchased on the cheap] and Luiz [who is one of the best cb's to bring the ball out of defence]

Do you see any of these being available eds?

BthekingB {Ed002's Note - You appear to be looking at a team not a squad. However, Malouda would be available.}

You honestly believe Essien would be in the team ahead of Ramirez? Get real.

04 Jun 2012 13:16:56
im not saying kelly is not good enough, im just wondering how micah richards is not considered at all? if i was england coach, id take kelly ahead of ferdinand anyway. but not micah richards...

Kaizer

Richards refused to be on standby. If he wasn't first choice he didn't want to go at all.

Eric the red

The England situation has been comfounded by the FA with regards to the Rio and JT situation, I think they have made the wrong choice in JT, Rio should have gone. Richards and Carrick did not want to be on stand by and is their loss, as both would have been in with the injuries. At least Roy has given our young lads tournament experience which can only benefit them and ultimately us, especially if they get some game time.

EVO YNWA

04 Jun 2012 12:58:11
Right Back - No Walker, No Richards, No Smalling...Take Johnson

Centre Back - No Cahill, and Ferdinand had too many injuries?...Take the experienced Kelly.

Centre Midfield - No Wilshere, No Scholes, No Lampard, No Cleverley, No Barry...Take Henderson

Wingers - Don't fancy someone who can score goals or set them up?...Take Downing.

Captain - Terry had it taken off him again, Ferdinand not going...Give it 3rd in line Stevey G.

Manager - Need someone who's used to managing below average teams, fighting as the underdog?...Take Woy.

Why o why must Liverpool let down the England team as well as their own team? If Liverpool had any manners whatsoever they would withdraw these players immediately. Its unfair on the rest of the squad. Its funny when i watch you play because your awful and it makes me laugh. Now uve had to go and spoil it and bring your awfulness to the National Team. I think you owe the rest of the nation an apology for ruining our National Teams chances at Euro 2012.

However...

I am English myself, so i will be supporting our boys regardless of how bad the Liverpool players are. I just hope Kelly, Henderson and Downing don't get a game or we're in trouble. Johnson has to play unfortunately.

I hope you all enjoy Euro 2012.

Chelski

Didn't most of those players rip your team a new 1 in the last game?

Your a wum,you mite be suprised how good them lads can play there young players that will continue to develop england,were never going to win the euros anyway-THE POPE

Haha oh lord someone needs a life

We are not english we are scouse

Haha, on another teams rumour website to try and wind people up, it's probably best you just go and play with your crayons mate.

Oh and by the way, if you want to know who is mainly at fault I'd look no further than your own captain, it's clearly because of him that Ferdinand isn't going, mistake really considering how many times Suarez made Terry look average in just one game at Anfield.

Johnson is hodgson's 1st choice, same as capello and all the other predecessors.

kelly will be a fixture in the england squad for a very long time, this is the beginning of his international career(capello also hinted at this at the start of the season).

henderson is the u21 captain. little reason to continue the argument, logical progression.

downing has been part of the england squad for the last 3 managers. hardly a shock for his inclusion.

steven gerrard turned your club down! bitter?

hodgson could well be the perfect fit, we all expect little and anything above that will be a bonus.

"why oh why must Liverpool let down the England team as well as their own team"

What was the score against the Germans when England were knocked out of our last international tournament? 4-1 wasn't it? And how many of those goals were the fault of The chest-thumping, badge kissing, waste of space John Terry?

JRG

That is the most bitter and jelous post i have seen on here.

Kelly is possibly the best young right back in the league, i don't think i've seen him put a foot wrong.

Suprised you never wanted Daniel "Pass master" Sturridge to go instead of Carroll.

Sounds to me that you just don't like Liverpool and crying over nothing.

KT!

Terry, its all i have to say lol

You think Liverpool play badly?

Chelsea were an absolute embarrassment to the Premier League!

You parked the bus for 300 minutes and scraped through by the skin of your teeth.

Even Benfica outplayed you at the sh*thole you call Stamford Bridge...

Stone YNWA.

Bren "The Don" Rodgers, has been at Liverpool 3 days and already won the same amount of cups as David Moyes at Everton

cozinoz

Oh I've got one i've got one!

In less than 6 months in charge of Chelsea, Roberto Di Matteo won more trophies than Liverpool have won in the last 6 years.

Our Trophies - FA Cup and Champions League
Your Trophy - League Cup (now newly named the Capital One Cup, which proudly makes you the COC Holders)

Making fun out of smaller teams is fun

Chelski

As a team, you may have won more in 6 years, what about the 119 years before that? as a club you will never be as big as Liverpool, your a small club with a rich owner, end of.

More atmosphere at a funeral than Stamford Bridge.

Oh I got one, how many European cups do u have? Let's add that to your league titles? Making fun of teams with no history or soul is fun! Circus!
FowlerisGod

Liverpool have 5 times as many European Cups as every London club put together.

Or maybe how about Liverpool's total major honours is 41 ( The highest in english football) and Chelsea's is a mere 18.

Come on a Liverpool site and try to make fun of our trophy haul? Are you serious?.......

You're right it is fun making fun of SMALLER teams.

LFC

Taken you 1000 years to pipe up mate. how old are you 145.

Chelsea are tiny. Pathetic amount of league titles. 1 European cup is very poor. Especially after the owner spent way over a billion trying to win it. {Ed016's Note - Considering how much has been spent I just don't see the reward.}

The away kit wil be yellow end off

Pics of it are on liverpool website mate, its black and grey.
huddz red

The end of what will be yellow you should go to the doctors mate that sounds nasty

04 Jun 2012 13:00:49
Will people stop with the "Suarez is staying cos he's advertising the new kit" garbage.
Kuyt's also wearing it on the website, If i remember correctly wasn't Alonso on the poster that was across a building in town, then he left?

KT!

04 Jun 2012 13:00:21
Oh dear god the new away kit is awful hopefully we will just wear the home kit all season what were they thinking and kuyt is now gone for about a million great servant to the club but at least he is off the wage bill. Play better football and maybe people wont notice the kit we better hope so.
redl4fe

04 Jun 2012 12:59:56
I was expecting cara to be called up to replace terry if the injury did not clear ;)
We must have done something right to have 6 players in the England squad.

Why is everyone so obsessed with how many players we have in the england squad?

It just means that the national side is s***!

04 Jun 2012 12:11:51
I would like someone to look Into the stats at how many times Kuyt give the ball away,I bet more than any other prem player.also one of the slowest players I have ever seen at pro level,good look to him but another great step forward for me!
Kp

Read the stats he made over 300 chances for his team mates his pass rate was 75% says it all really.
soul man

I wonder what the stats look like for vital goals in key matches like the Carling Cup Final and important assists. Brilliant and loyal LFC servant. Good luck Dirk! YNWA
Grayswood

Dont slag kuyt off for one bad season where he was in and out of the team. one of the hardest working players at lfc and if a few more players had the determination he had we'd do a lot better. been a great servant, you have a short memory very anooying post...redman matt

04 Jun 2012 12:08:31
Kuyt is on the pictures of the new away shirt which goes the prove just because there is no pictures of other players doesn't mean anything

04 Jun 2012 12:06:49
Jordan Henderson
Martin Kelly
Stuart Downing
Glen Johnson

No wonder England aren't expected to do anything at the Euros this year. Here's hoping their game time is limited.

Chelski {Ed001's Note - if you know so little about football that you think Kelly is any reason for England not to perform, then you need to try watching it more. The lad is an excellent prospect, only injuries have held him back.}

Yea nowt to do with the fact jon terry has no pace and will more than likely be the reason more than 1 goal will be allowed in because of him hopefully he wont start and it will be lescott and jagielka chelsea fans upset due to the fact we have better english youngster,s than them
giblet

Good job Frankie is out then.....only Terry for the rest of them to carry (or to help him up when he inevitably falls on his backside and looks a complete ar$e)
KJS

None of them deserve a place in the squad.

If anyone disagrees then feel free to explain why. But for me its players like these that have dramatically dropped our expectations.

Chelski

But they are in the squad Chelski,like it or not, so just get over it.
KJS

How long have Terry, Lampard and Cole played for England and won absolutely nothing?

Perhaps it's time to give other players a chance to let down Ingurland?

JRG

And by the way - you should also realise that most Liverpool fans couldn't care less what happened to England this summer, I certainly couldn't. International football is slow and dull (much like Chelsea fans) and all I worry about is our six players returning without injuries.

I'm sure with John Terry in the team they will return well rested after not making it out of the group stages.

JRG

04 Jun 2012 11:59:10
You were all slagging Kuyt off yesterday and selling him on. Now he's actually left, you sing his praises and say he should stayed.
Some supporters are so hard work and really confusing

Thats how i feel. you have a great servant to the team like that and as soon as some people think he's past it they slag him off. Some are doing the same with carragher! Amazing really how fickle some are

gboy

Maybe the people slagging him off were different people to the ones praising him? Just a thought {Ed016's Note - its called respect too. To be honest he couldn't cross his fingers and some days it was painful watching him play on the wing. But he worked hard and loved the city and club. So I wish him all the best, but I am glad we are now looking forward}

How BADASS does Skrtel look in the new away kit! Im scared.

Cheers

04 Jun 2012 11:33:30
Hi ed,thanks for the superb work,i think that the owner will be providing financial support to rodger,no doubt abt that they wanted him at liverpool now that they have got him,so expect few new face to come in summer sigurdsson, luuk de jong,ryad boudebouz,there main target and realistic too,it would be excellent if we do sign affeley,n gaston ramirez. arsh-redindian.

Ed i seen this team on the Banter Page. I would be really excited going into the start of the league with this team. Is this in your opinion realistic and do you think Liverpool would be a far better team with these 3 additions of elia munian and dos santos?

Cheers
BLANCO7 {Ed001's Note - Elia I don't rate, very little chance of Muniain, and even less chance of Aquilani staying, I would also be disappointed if he was in the first team ahead of the likes of Suso, if he did stay. He is simply not good enough to deserve to be there.}

Dos Santos? 1 good goal.... I don't think he exactly set the Championship on fire. I'd rather see Silva and sterling get the opportunity to back up Bellamy and Downing....

Richards

Dos Santos? Why?? Coz he scored one goal against Brazil? He couldn't even get in Spurs' reserves.

04 Jun 2012 11:20:49
Sky Sports was just reporting that Bellamy has announced he is in the team GB Olympics squad, which is great for him to be one of the 3 over aged players. However I was quite put off by the fact Bellamy, a British, Life long Liverpool fan, gave that interview to the s*n {Ed001's Note - it was not an interview with the s*n, please don't lie, it was a charity event in Singapore he mentioned it to the assembled press.}

04 Jun 2012 10:58:05
I heard that a deal for sigurdsson is near and I think this is a positive step forward for Liverpool. We are also likely to sign Afellay, G.Ramirez/Muniain and Jackson Martinez. When looking at the above players estimated values, it looks approximately like 8mill+8mill+(20-25)mill+8mill=40-50mill. This seems wuite realistic and for the players linked seems like a great buy. Now my opinion is that we keep Carroll till January and if him and Henderson do not perform the way we all want them to, it would be best if we part ways (I really hope we don't have to come to that). In addition to this, if we were to eat those above players, this means no room for downing, Adam, spearing, aquilani, cole, maxi. But allowing room for also sterling to come into the equation. With no room for those players you could expect about 30mill to be taken from selling those players. Not a lot of money yes, but if we sign the other players then it would be justifiable as its as if we payed 20mill for Afellay and only 8mill for downing etc... Furthermore, this means only about 15-20 mill will actually be spent on buying players if you look to co more player sales and with revenue coming from the new players shirts, it would be air to predict that we'd breakeven. Yes, this is all my opinion but what does everyone think, would you be happy with this? If not, what things could be altered? I hope this gets published so I can see the opinion of Liverpool fans! YNWA!

JS

You, sir, are an idiot. wouldnt even know where to begin with that.. u obviously have no clue of how finances work at the club.

ryan belfast ynwa

I dont see how that was a bad idea mate... All I was saying is who we are linked with getting basically (who you can't deny are realistic) and who we should sell? Ok I don't know the real figures but give me some slack theyre there to give an idea for the reader. I do not respesct abusive comments like that...

04 Jun 2012 10:01:34
Hi eds, mickey Thomas has said he expects sigurdsson to join Liverpool
What do you expect? {Ed001's Note - I expect Mickey Thomas to make yet more comments in the days ahead about anything he can in order to get himself in the papers and on TV.}

04 Jun 2012 05:35:11
Hey Eds,
I wondering if I could get your take Luciano Narsingh, a right winger for SC Heereveen(spelling). From the little I've seen of him he seems like he has potential. I believe he only has one year left on his contract as well. He seems like he would be a realistic and somewhat cheap solution.

Koopa Troopa {Ed001's Note - not seen him play.}

Sorrry Fella,

Kenny Dalglsih has brought a philosophy into the club which is to buy shi** for expensive money. Even if there is available cheap but quality option his philosophy is to go all out and buy the crappiest.

Shame money wasted!

Bosco

Bosco nice to see that you've woken up from your 6 month hibernation but Kenny isn't the manager anymore and Comolli, who negotiated the prices for those buys that your obviously talkin about, has also left.

04 Jun 2012 11:23:00
for every 1 who was arguing the other day that saurez would not be sold as he has been in all the new kit unveiling's i suggest you look at lfc website for the new kit and the main picture is stevie g and dirk kuyt now correct me if im wrong im sure dirk no longer plays for us so been in the new kit means nothing just thought id mention it

04 Jun 2012 11:12:41
Wow. The away kit really is ugly. What is the deal with the grey around the neck?? It looks like something a handmaiden might wear. Last year's away kit was far superior.

Looks like a wetsuit

Looks like a bib, due to all the players drooling with the BR brand of footy!

Evo

It's a reference to Liverpool's maritime heritage and the 1900 kit. Can't you read?

04 Jun 2012 11:07:56
So, farewell Dirk Kuyt - you sweated blood for us playing wide right and we will remember you. I hear Glen Johnson moving on once the Euros are out of the way, probably to a London club - Arsenal or Spurs I hear. RED LENIN

Unlikely...Sanga and Walker at those clubs.
I expect Johnson to stay...

Richards

04 Jun 2012 10:11:36
Not a rumour, but is it just me who notices the stunning resemblence between liverpools new away kit and the man u one from 11/12.....
KingKenny92

No not at all theirs was black and blue hoops ur is black with grey at the top, hardly a stunning resemblence

Nothing like it

04 Jun 2012 10:10:23
Possible for next season? Just a bit of run. Nothing too serious!

Gk: Reina
Def: Johnson, Skrtel, Agger, Enrique
Cdm: Lucas
Cm: Gerrard, Adam
Rf: Afellay
Lf: Suarez
St: Carroll

04 Jun 2012 10:10:10
Why don't we have a try on Arda Turan

04 Jun 2012 10:02:49
If I was manager I would go for Munian Ramirez Lukk de Jong and Diame
Diame on a free would allow us to off load spearing as he is a far better player plus we may get a few quid for spearing
Obviously to get both Munian and Ramirez we need to off load cole maxi aqua kuyt is gone
I also wouldn't mind letting Johnson go and trying for Isla as Johnson will fetch good money Isla is better in my opinion plus that ridiculous Clause in his contract
Isla will also let you off loan Shelvey out and some kids as this guy can play pretty much anywhere
Lastly and I know this is long if Suarez is sold sell to Madrid if interested for higuain plus cash as I suspect that will interest them but I would rather he stayed

04 Jun 2012 09:55:36
Can't reveal my source but NONE of the big name players are leaving - not Suarez, Skrtel, Agger, Carroll, Downing etc. So rest assured. May lose some of the fringe players (Kyut was a probable, Maxi is a defo) and the possible incomings are not yet known - I'll post them as soon as I know...

04 Jun 2012 09:53:47
Juan Manuel Vargas and Gylfi Sigurdsson and Clint Dempsey and luuk de jong will be the players i think will come in

maxi-spearing-shelvey-aquilani still to leave

carra to become a player/coach

04 Jun 2012 09:52:32
Looks like Liverpool have a tough game against France on Monday

cozinoz

Good one m8 hhh

And if they win, it will be well done England.

04 Jun 2012 09:43:51
I am quite looking forward to this summers wheeling and dealing in the transfer market.Sigurdsson was at Swansea because of Rodgers,and I am 100% sure that he will follow him to Anfield.Imo Sigurdsson will now replace our intended target Elm.I would like to see Gaston Ramirez, Matias Suarez and Esteban Granero, join us.Yes I know,wishful thinking,but it would be lots of goals at Anfield if we could bring these 4 to play with our current no 7.

04 Jun 2012 09:40:25
Its going to be very interesting to see which players Brendan Rodgers is after.
Who knows, but it is sure exciting.
I hope we secure some real gems, at great prices.

Good luck to you Brendan.i

04 Jun 2012 09:37:41
They won me over with the home shirt, it's simple and nice but the away... My my my they've screwed up there

04 Jun 2012 09:07:00
I like Liverpool away kit's more then the home one.

r-r

04 Jun 2012 09:03:40
Just a point about rumours on players who MAY leave!
Suarez, Reina & Sketl, . why would just these players feature on Liverpool official web site wearing the new away strip for next season? is there a clever clue in it being the AWAY strip?

Gerrard is on it too you idiot

04 Jun 2012 09:00:19
If we don't/can't sign Sigurdsson then I can see us looking at Dembele. Personally I'd prefer Sig as he's got more goals in him (strange seeing that Dembele was a striker), but I'd be happy with either.

With United close to signing Kigawa and Chelsea having Mata, signing Hulk and Hazard then I can't see then interested in Dembele.

Arsenal seem more keen on Dempsey, who would make a good replacement for Kuyt if we can't get De Jong.

We need a winger/playmaker and Gaston Ramirez or Muniain would be great. The latter being preferred.

We also need a back up defensive midfielder, with people touting Clasie (spelling), who I know absolutely nothing about. One player that has potential, that nobody will likely know about is David Davies of Wolves. He's unlikely to move at this stage of his career, but is one to keep an eye on as he has Lucas esq potential.

Papa G

04 Jun 2012 08:38:31
What about Luuk de Jong and Bas Dost. Between them, they've scored 57 eredivise goals in 58 eredivise games. Just what we need. Brendan Rodgers should consider this pair. Bas Dost would only cost 7 million and luuk de Jong would only cost 12.5 million. 19.5 million for the ultimate strike force. Yes please. P.S,they will assist each other quit a bit! {Ed001's Note - Bas Dost just signed for Wolfsburg.}

04 Jun 2012 08:31:03
Hi Guys

For a team that were poor last season nice to see 6 Liverpool players in the england squad.

Any chance of Liverpool going in for theo walcott and defoe now that Rodgers is manager he likes attacking players i think these two would fit in well and both being in the PL they can hit the ground running

Also

Luuk De Jong
Clint Dempsey
Rob Green or Craig Gordan

Both woud add the attacking football we need

Sell

Charlie Adam (i like him but not good enough)
Jay Spearing (same as Adam)
Doni And Jones
Aquaman

Also best of luck to Kuyt in turkey YNWA

Please Post this guys want you thoughts on this

Theo walcott is just like a head less chicken why do people want him,ok he might score a couple of goals but if you put heskey in the arsenal team even he would score goals. Lee

04 Jun 2012 08:27:18
Just like to say a BIG MASSIVE thank you to DIRK KUYT. If other players shared the passion he had when wearing a Liverpool Jersey, then they would be half way there already. Good Luck Dirk. YNWA.

04 Jun 2012 07:37:08
Is it just me or doe's the new away kit look like a cycling top..especially the yellow one, plus looking forward to the Euro's now that it's Englandpool..ha we're in Europe already,,

Dav001

Barring Johnson, Stevie G and Carroll, I doubt if the rest of our representatives will get any gametime. And Carroll will mostly warm the bench once Rooney is back, Unless he does something special in the first 3 games.

Henderson, Downing and Kelly together wont even make 45 minutes in the tournament imho.

So maybe Hodgson is doing something wrong?

Eventhough I am happy that Kelly got a call, I would've rather liked Ferdinand to be in the team. We need experience in the back.

Worst kit ever.....let's hope the cash is put to good use.....

04 Jun 2012 07:33:35
Eds,
Liverpool have more players in the England euros squad then any other team.
We must be doing something right!

Woy feels guilty haha

You mean Kenny must have been doing something right.

The new away kit is awful IMO

i shall miss a humanitarian, good but underrated player who scored many important goals in the clubs history, i think KK didnt play him well. i would have been happy had it stayed for a year more and thrived under rodgers.YNWA

Kuyt wouldnt have fitted into Rogers style of play. His control and passing were abysmal.

Was surprised heemt for a million, but it was time he moved on.

04 Jun 2012 04:44:09
Hopefully see an end to the AA saga this summer and get him moved on. Also Joe Cole, another player we will hopefully see gone, keep loaning these players is silly if we are paying towards some of their wages. As they are never going to play for Liverpool FC again!

Bring in 2-3 of the reserve players, possibly give Pacheco another go? We are not going to attract any big names without CL unfortunatley. Hopefully 2013/14 season we will be back in CL. Then bring in the next Hazzard,hulk etc.

Eds your thoughts please.

Lee73 {Ed001's Note - I would rather keep Cole than Pacheco, at least he tries, Pacheco would rather whine.}

Surely, we're better than Cole and Pacheco. Both are overrated

04 Jun 2012 04:23:28
Lavezzi and Muniain have got to be atleast considered by BR. Other targets should include Affellay, Sigurdsson, Mertens, James Rodriguez, Soldado, Lisandro Lopez and Gaston Ramirez. Any of these would add much needed quality to what we already have. They would all fit into the BR philosophy too and with the exceptions of Lavezzi, Soldado and possibly Muniain, they should all be available for reasonable sums of money and wages shouldnt be OTT either.

You forgot messi,ronaldo,van persie,xavi,rooney,alves omg people will you get real with the signings,no champs footie and how much money do you think there is,get real and wake up. Lee

Agreed we definitely need to at least try for Lavezzi, Ramirez and Munian.

They are excellentl players and are a distinct possibility.

Jonesred

Lee, I couldn't have put it any better. Some people need to wake up and get in the real world. We're not going to be spending £30/40/50m on one player, let alone 6 of them!

Are we in need of a left-back? Or is Robinson ready?

Len

Think we need another lb tbh.

We need a left back

We also have Brad Smith who is a excellent prospect.Agger can play there I think we have to show trust in some of the younger lads,They have been well schooled by Rodolfo.I also feel that our manager will show faith in our reserves when he needs them, he coached Chelsea reserves so will know the importance of trying to bring players through the system.

Enriqe??

If we can find out why Enrique faded so badly in the second half of last season and address it then we should keep him until the youngster is ready. What we mustn't do is buy a senior left back on a long contract - that would merely dishearten Robinson and could cause him to leave. RED LENIN

Isnt he going to go on loan to Aston Villa?

Burnsy

Cheers for the replies lads. It's a tricky one but I would be tempted to use Robinson as cover unless we could get an alternative. Either a loan signing from one of the big european clubs or a decent squad player who can do a job in a few positions.

Len {Ed016's Note - To RED LENIN Enrique failed as soon as he started being told to push forward. Obviously not comfortable pushing forward but as a full back he was tremendous defense wise he is one of the best LB's in the world.}

What are the chances of Aquilani playing at Anfield next season? Would love to see a selection of Jovetic, Affelay, Ramirez, Hoillet and Sigurdsson sign in the summer. Are they all on the radar Eds? Would price for Affelay increase significantly if he had a good Euros?
Thanks

The chances of Aquilani playing for Liverpool next year are slightly less than the Queen being eaten by a Polar Bear. Aquilani is a goner. Forget about him. All that remains is finding someone to buy him and taking the financial loss on the chin. RED LENIN

this is the tika taka formation that brendan rodgers is supposed to use. (if your not familiar just look it up on lfc.tv) i'm going to try and see where improvement is needed. this may give us an insight into the style of players we may be enquiring about in the next few windows.
Zone1: Reina and Doni are capable of playing the role require here.
Zone2: I think that skrtel and agger are capable, coates should be able to adapt but i think carra may struggle to cover the ground for the 90 although he is still good to have.
zone3: this is the iniesta role or the one that sigurdsson also perfected at swansea. we can play lucas here. ideal for sigurdsson (if we buy him)or a player in that mould if our current midfielders don't do a suitable job. i think shelvey has the qualties to play here in a few seasons time. maybe hendo can be tried here. gerrard may need better discipline to play here but he has the qualities and has played a more disciplined/ defensive role whilst playing for england..
zone4: johnson, kelly and enrique will fit this system perfectly. flanno and wilson i believe may go on loan. i know wilson will. if that is the case then we may need backup. as johnson and kelly are known to be injury prone.
zone5: this is where the box to box midfielders play. obviously gerrard has his spot here. i think hendo and lucas will probobly do better in this role than as the deep lying playmaker. obviously coady may well excell in these roles in a few seasons time. i would start hendo here at the minute and have lucas as the deep lying playmaker.
zone6: this is where nathan dyer and scott sinclaire played for swansea, and to great effect. i expect here is where the improvement is needed. suarez can do a good job here. as can bellers but he cannot be heavily relied on due to his knees. downing i think may fit this role but i'm not sure if he will take his chance. maxi will be great here but he looks to be on his way out. sterling is coming through and will get chances next year no doubt. all in all this is the area that needs stregnthened. muniain will be ideal but the likelihood is we won't get him. gastn ramirez can adapt to this system as can luuk de jong, if we persue either.
zone7: this is for the target man. carroll must improve his movement to play here effectively. i would like to see luuk de jong here if he was bought. suarez can play here effectively. end of the day carroll needs competition for this role so expect to see a striker.
now this isn't in stone and is just estimated guesses. rodgers said that the players effect the system so he may alter from this formation, but you get the general idea.
so players we may persue:
a deep lying playmaker(depending on the job our midfield does): maybe siggurdsson as he is tried and tested. the problem is that players who excell in this position don't come cheap, so if we don't go for siggurdson then we will have to uncover a gem. i have no doubts that brendan rogers can do so.
wingers: gaston ramirez or muniain
cf:luuk de jong or a tall and mobile striker similar too him. i have a feeling luuk de jong will be bought if we can as he has adaptability in a system like this.
they are again all assumptions, but you never know what rodgers can pull off. i expect an interesting few markets in the near future and i expect an improvement. i have no doubts that at the very least we will be very easy on the eye. i wouldn't mind hearing other peoples views and thanks for reading.
derryred

To be honest lucas is nailed on for zone 3

Sorry bud but you have miss understood the roles a bit here, zone 3 is the role of deep lying defensive mid that plays short passes siggaudson is an attacking mid in zone 5. Currently we lack zone 6 wingers, lets hope we get a couple of good one's in and sterling gets his chances.....

Do you live in the O-zone mate?

I think your just about spot on mate.
I was thinking exactly the same.
Munain would be brilliant I hope we get him.

MIKEY

Yeah i do think that his passing has greatly improved i do know that he started as a box-to-box midfielder and will excell there too. gerrard i'm sure can play in all areas of that midfield formation as can lucas but i'm certain hendo will be much better as a box to box midfielder. he gives a huge effort every game.
derryred

Mate I have tried posting some points very similar to what you've said so I fully agree with your post. One little tweak if you don't mind, de Jong - yes he certaimly has what it takes but if we weren't to get him who else do you think could fit well in the system in zone7? I think Jackson Martinez would be a great cheap player and obviously isn't world class yet but he has the ability to. He has pace, strength, poaching abilities and great finishing traits with both feet and head. I also think it wouldn't hurt having Afellay because of not only how well he'd suit the system but because he top would come cheap. In the end I see what your saying and agree in addition to my comments mentioned. Cheers for posting! YNWA

anyone else think that the new LFC away kit makes us look like a bunch of batmen? we need the mask and we would be fine. should just talk reina into wearing a tux like the butler or a red jumpsuit and high heels like robin....JLFC

I don't know about it making us look like a "bunch of batmen", perhaps a laughing stock.

I'll admit I have seen worse kits, but I personally think Warrior have really produced a "wrong un"; the black looks fine but that grey is simply terrible, what purpose does it serve? even moreso, the ill placed "blob" of grey on the back of the shirt, and on the front of the shorts - absolutely dire!

I be the first to say that I'm conservative and definitely prefer the more plain retro looking kits without the patches, lines and stripes for stripes sake, but why couldn't they simply make it all Black? or to be more traditional - all White or even Yellow?

Ed's who at the club is actually in charge of "proofing" and deciding the kits, because all I can say is that they have NO idea ... I bet he or she won't be wareing it and they probably will get paid to do so!

PANTS!
{Ed001's Note - no idea who does that, but I have to agree, it is awful, shame because the new home kit is beautiful, one of the best.}

I quite like that along with the home shirt

I think we should buy clint dempsey as prooven as quality premises player at low cost and also sigurdson both at steal prices, would love to see belhanda and allefay but very doubtful. If we were to sell suarez then madrid would be most. Likely bidders.why not swap for benzema or higuain

Dempsey is old in footballing terms and Sigurdson is a big fish in a little pond ( abit like Adam was at Blackpool).

Yes but adam's role at liverpool last season was different to the one at blackpool. at liverpool he was more defensive and was supposed to be the deep lying playmaker. i think that he was decent up until january then his performances dropped. sigurdsson on the other hand will likely have a similar role to that at swansea, and he will have a better team of players around him. it could be a sensable buy as established players of that position will cost the world.

Read the tika taka article on the main website. There will be one deep lying midfield playmaker not two. The point is to win possession higher up the pitch when we dont have the ball.

WOW, 6 Liverpool players in the England squad. Gary Neville must be wishing he'd stayed at sly sports haha.
NotInTheKnow

NotInTheKnow

Whilst I concur that it might just rub Neville up the wrong way, I can't help but think it will have an adverse effect on our team.

Not that I want to put a downer on England, as they probably won't get pass the Group stages, but don't forget, as a new Manager, Rodgers would probably want to get the players together as soon as he possibly can, especially with the season starting early for us due to the Qualifying rounds of the "Ropey League" ...from a Liverpool perspective I wish we didn't have a single player at the European Championships!

The aforementioned said, good luck to all those participating and whilst there can only be one winner let us hope all our players return injury free!

I hope it is giving him 'sleepless nights'.
I am no England fan (support Germany personally), but very happy to see the LFC lads representing.
It will give them all 'great' experience.

New LFC Kit is up on the website, looks quality in my opinion, minimalist but classy also they have Suarez & Skrtel plastered all over the website, doubt they would do that if they have plans set in place to move both on.

If you think Suarez modeling the new kit means anything I think you are mistaken.

Not a rumour just a bit of info of what I've heard. I love this site and I got slated for my posts in the last window about us enquiring about Steven Fletcher - which my source still tells me we did to this day along with spurs. Info from the same LFC PLO is that our targets remain the same as they were with KK - BR is just picking from that same list as it's obviously too late in the day for anybody to go out scouting with it being end of season. The reinforcements we need are well documented and have been addressed by the clubs scouting network - it's just a different manager giving the final say after the scouting reports. The owners understand and are reluctant to spend big this summer on the basis that it will take time for BR to put his own blueprint on the players he wants, but have agreed that funds will be available in january should anybody the scouts find in that time meet what he is looking for.

Brendan is going to try and build the Liverpool squad how he had his Swansea team, with fa finisher like graham and paced skilful wingers like dyer and Sinclair, he's going to go for technically gifted midfielders like Allen m, sigurdsonn and Britton with ruthless defenders like caulker and Williams who can also play with the ball at their feet. Expect to concede a lot less goals as Regina may be told to buck his ideas up or leave
Team for next year-
Reina but has to prove himself
Jose enrique
Johnson
Skrtel
Downing
Hoillet
Gerard sigurdsonn
Carrol
Suarez
He's not going to tweak lowds in his first season but he will install the philoosophy and try to recreate what got him te job. Expect cheap sales like te kuyt one e.g maxi Rodriguez but also expect cheap buys sigurdsonn (6.8) Hoillet (free) Jordan Rhodes aswell to play Danny graham role..... Basically bringing what got him the job to the job
By arnie {Ed040's Note - sorry .. Reina has to prove himself i think you mean prove himself again! we all know he's a quality keeper who didnt have his best season if anyone needs to prove themselves its downing}

Think we could struggle with that side. It's only got 10 players...

Seriously though, Reina has a slightly indifferent season and people question his ability??

Yea the team will do great with 10 starting players

You forgot agger

PR is a liability, and his body language suggets he doesn't want to be at Liverpool...Get rid of him while we can still get a decent fee for him

Liverpool have had one of the most consistently mean defences in the Premier League for years. Even though Reina had a poor season by his standards, it was still one of the best performances by a goalie in the Prem. Liverpool's problem last seasion wasn't poor defending - it was poor pressuring in the final third and poor finishing.

Dirk Kuyt...."I'm sure Liverpool will improve under the new manager. Liverpool has a great squad of players and I'm sure with this manager they will do well. From the bottom of my heart I wish them all the best, wish the new manager all the best and I hope they will be very successful."

Class act.

Think you have totally missed the point. All the references about improving under a new manager are another dig at KK.

Agreed. Subtle dig at KK. Can't blame him. Kyut and Maxi sat twiddling their thumbs on the bench, watching the likes of Adam, Downing running around . . .

I love KK but do not blame Kuyt for being pissed off with him. He did after all rarely play and who wants to sit on the bench only to come on score in cup final and then be on bench again?

If I were boss (which i am not, thank god for LFC) I would get Muniain as Winger/Striker , Giovani Dos Santos as a Playmaker/Winger , Susueta Winger/Wing back . Theses signings alone would make us a stronger team and should fit into the "Tiki Taka" system. I already believe we have a gifted squad of young players, apart for the few such as downing and spearing, which i see no future in unfortuantly.

I believe that Raheem Sterling to be a huge star in the making, but if he does make it, we need a solid squad which will stop the temptation from signing else where.

Suso aswell has bags of potentiel, and i believe the introduction of these spanish speaking players will help the likes of Suso to shine and gain experience, and also keep Reina, and Suarez in a friendly environnement where they will want to be patient for success. Football players are humans, and getting on with your team mates can only benefit the on field performances.

I am not claiming to be in the know, and proabably none of these will sign, but it is hopefull thinking i guess, and with the sales of Downing, Spearing, Kuyt, Cole, Skrtel if a descent offer comes in, and Pacheco, Money wise, these signings are not impossible.

Thank you, Drew9 .

I agree with you about 99% but we wouldn't need Susaeta who says we'd get the money for downing? I'd sell Spearing, Cole, Maxi, Kuyt, Pacheco and Adam which should get about £12m

Get in Iker Muniain as a Forward/Winger and Giovani dos Santos as a Playmaker/winger and keep Aquilani as the Creative midfielder. I wouldn't know the exact cost but should be around £35m for both; £30m for Muniain and £5m for Gio. keep Downing for now might as well really and if he doesn't perform we'd have Giovani and Bellmay as back up. but if we can sell downing for lets say £10m - £12m then to replace him would have to be someone with pace, skill and positive direction. Elia or Afellay could do the trick both would cost £7m.

That would be around £42m for all three Muniain, dos Santos and one of Elia and Afellay. Take away player sales it would be £30m and we'd have a squad capable of playing the Tiki Taka style.

................................Reina................................
.................Skrtel.....................Agger.................
..Johnson.............................................Enrique..
................................Lucas................................
.................Gerrard...............Aquilani.................
.....dos Santos...................................Muniain.....
...............................Suarez...............................

Doni; Coates; Kelly; Henderson; Shelvey; Elia; Carroll

Gulacsi; Sama; Flanagan; Coady; Suso; Sterling; Bellmay

Personally, i'd love to see Susaeta at this club. He'll be a wonderful player some day... he already is, infact...

If the Dutch have a good Euro's which i think they will,may even win it and Affelay plays a major role in the team expect his price to rocket.After his performance against NI i believe he is now,possibly,in the 10 to 20 million region,certainly by the end of Euro 2012 this will be the case.We could do with buying him this week!! Rodgers is already looking like a promising manager. He gives definite plans on how we will play, interest in certain players, expectations etc. I have always been a Kenny fan, but his interviews were not reassuring (" we'll just take it game by game and see where we finish...").

My question to everyone, is what will be the role of Carroll and even Gerrard in the new setup. Carroll clearly does not fit the style of play, but from my eyes, neither does Stevie. He is not mobile enough of the Barca-style of play. Neither is C. Adam. I think Aquilani would fit in better with this style. I think Downing could do as well.

Thoughts?

Coop

Not too sure about carroll and stevie but believe it or not one person i think that will be immense in this type of system is jordan henderson

Stevie will fit just fine and there is no way Rodgers will be thinking of LFC without Gerrard being a central figure on the pitch for now at least. He has had injuries but is one of our fittest players when actually fit! lol
As for the 'big man' he has got a great touch and but i doubt the fitness and quickness of pace off ball perhaps to be the right man, but personally i think he will prove to be worth his waiting gold

Brendan Rodgers will be more aware than most that total ''Tiki-Taka''football has been found out.A combination of possession and aggressive counter-attacking football and an ability to mix things up depending on the opposition, is the ideal setup.I believe AC can fit in either system.The jury's out on Aquaman but what the hell,were paying him !! B

If Sergio Busquets can be mobile enough, Stevie can, it's not about accelleration, it's more about just being where the defenders aren't. Our Stevie is definately intelligent enough for that, Adam will also handle it! Even Leon Britton and Sigurdsson are not the most athletic creatures, but Leon B was one of my absolute favourite players to watch last season!

Red7.

Sorry coop but I completely disagree with you.
Whilst I understand what you're saying, we're not Barcelona and in order to play decent football we don't have to follow their exact blueprint.
Carroll is more than capable of playing as either a lone striker, supported by wingers and attacking central midfielders, or as part of a front 2. His hold up play is exactly what BR will appreciate and he's underrated on the deck.

And whilst Gerrard might be getting on a bit, he's by no means finished!!
To contradict your statement, he's possibly the most dynamic player I've ever seen, and definitely has a role to play.
If anything, Gerrard is a victim of his own versatility and gets moved around far too often.
Attacking CM for me, every time!

Joe

Downing is complete and utter shight , Gerrard could play in any team/philosophy quite simply because he's Stevie G..

I think Adam will thrive under Rodgers tactics , Aquilani will be a goner.

Tom.

I agree with everything just not downing and gerrard closes people down in defense and is always there in support for the attack he'd have his place (in front of lucas HM) at RCM with Aquilani at LCM and all we'd need is three players to cover the wide areas Muniain, dos Santos and Elia (one of dos santos or elia as cover for each other) and suarez up front

lucas
gerrard, aquilani
dos santos, muniain
suarez

Gerrard could fit into any team - he is the complete midfielder. His only downfall could be injuries and age but he is just as capable of fitting into Barcas style of play as Stoke City's.

cozinoz

Can't see Downing, Adam or Carragher having a future in this system. Carroll? Don't think so. Hendo? Possibly. Stevie and Lucas? For sure.

This system is made for Henderson as although he has had a tough time his movement is top class

I hope Carroll doesn't prove to be worth his weight in gold, that would only be about 4mil with current prices..

Ali

Just going to add my 2p worth here. Although I love SG and have done for as long as I can remember. He, to me, this year has had a detrimental effect on the team. Much like players like Henry / Viera during their final seasons at Arsenal Stevie's over bearing presence on the pitch has led to younger players playing within themselves, almost scared to play.

After those players left you saw a huge progression for the younger players coming through because quite simply they werent having to live up to the legend alongside them.

A lot of times for me Gerrard ends up stifling our play by trying to do everything, it seems almost that he doesnt trust the ability (sometimes understandably) of the players around him and tries too hard to do everything F.A Cup Final is a perfect example, far too often almost tackling his own players to take over when he should have been further up the pitch to receive the ball in a dangerous area like he was against Norwich.

Just to clarify, no I am not saying he is a "bad" player, nor am I saying he performs badly. What I am saying is that either we need world class players around him with the confidence to put him in his place or he needs to learn that sometimes he can have a better effect by letting the other guys in red do the donkey work and using his skills in a more creative way when off the ball.

I have a feeling that there will be no transfer budget, and the owners may bankroll it with a few expensive signings, they done the same in America, I feel now that they have employed their first manager (Kenny doesn't count) they will trust him with money in order to change our tactics and philosophy.

Of course they will back him. Why sign a manager and then tell him he can't have any money because they don't trust him with it? pretty bad business model!

There won't be a "budget" so to speak, each signing will be taken on a case by case basis, with different targets taking higher priority than others. When they feel they've spent enough, and when the manager thinks it's ok to stop, they'll agree to stop spending.

Simple really...

Red7.

03 Jun 2012 23:19:14
He's been a great servant to the club and his industry and passion is almost exclusively what endeared him to the fans.
At times he was frustrating because of a poor first touch or less than clinical finishing - but he'd then be the first man winning the ball back and hassling the opposition.

He won me round. He keeps more talented footballers out of the Holland team as well.

Sad to see him go, but I also think it's time (new manager or not).

However, Kuyt was good for 10 - 12 goals a season and it's vital that we replace him with a better player, or at least a more bountiful goalscorer.

I come on here every day and love reading through everyone's opinion.

I've got no idea who we'll sign, sell or loan. But if we can get a group of players with Dirk's commitment and desire, and the footballing philosophy that Brendan Rodgers likes to implement then I'll be happy!

Joe
