We should swap Cole for the younger Giovani Dos Santos

04 Jun 2011 23:36:06
from hazard to downing, what a jump down in quality, if we can't get hazard i hope we get anyone but young or downing, their both overrated

04 Jun 2011 23:21:38
Would like to see mata, mcCarthy and Dann at liverpool realistically. Very much like henderson but 15mil is steep would love to see adam johnson at the pool but cant see city selling, also after young like the option of downing. Kun? Highly doubt it but hey seen crazier signings...also great site guys who is close to joining now?

Monaco striker Park Chu-Young is being chased by Liverpool and Bolton according to reports in France.

If we are competing with Bolton for him he obviously good enough. I have seen him live and he isn't nearly good enough.

04 Jun 2011 22:16:49
if andy carroll was spanish he would have cost 15m. im not slagging him off cause i rate him but english players prices are so infated. yes, i think we should get young english talent, but only at the right price. phil jones for instance has had one season in the prem and is worth 15m! and remember, young players are not always consistant. just a thought.............

Another possible investor was there today. It was Sheik Enthatass. I saw him baby.

Well, I've only just managed to get back from work and it's coming up to half 10 here in Madrid.

Anyway Getting more to the point I was maintaining the pitch standards at the Vicente Calderon ( Lovely Stadium) since I work part time during the summer to help out with the club as my son is an U13 there.

Well, I took out the drive on Mower - In spain we call them El Unidad en la's. I was making the channels on the 105m long pitch being careful not to destroy the white lines when coming out of the North Stand I saw a man. He looked hot and bothered and a little lost. Taking a second glance I saw him looking at me. He was wearing glasses and had a briefcase in his right hand. He appeared to be lost so I put my foot on the brake as he asked for something. I couldn't hear him from that distance however, my hearing isn't the best, so I called him over. he came running to me and as he came closer I heard him shout in a slight French accent "I'm late for a meeting here and I'm lost". I told him that the meeting rooms are behind the South Stand and on the 8th Floor and waved him away and started the el unidad once more. However, to may complete unawareness I'd forgotten to turn the water sprayers, In spain we call them Pulverizadores de aguas, off since they were supplementing the turf feed. Anyway this little frenchman didn't seem realise and as he turned on his heel he slipped backwards due to his Dolce and Gabbana shoes not taking any grip. He flew in the air and landed gently. However his glasses, engraved in gold with the initials D.C, and his silver briefcase were not so lucky. As my 50CC Unidad was slicing blades of turf his these two posessions of his slid under the blades. As you know I wasn't very happy. The Unidad cost the club 1989.99 and I was responsible for it.

Anyway after 10 seconds of horrific noice as the blades cut up his briefcase and inside items the Unidad broke down. Shredds of paper which were inside the briefcase before it was ripped apart were floating around the machine. After checking with the little Frenchman I headed back to check for damage of my Unidad. It was only then when I caught sight of this shredd of paper. larger than the rest this shred had come to rest upon my steering wheel. I was just about to flick it off when I saw in big bold letters and numbers "£39,000,000 Serg". I turned to the man, taken back by my knew found knowledge and exclaimed "It doesn't matter about the El Unidad my friend, at least We'll walk on..."

I must go now though because I must find another El Unidad tomorrow and therefore need some sleep...

why buy jones when kelly looks like he will fill carra boots
*********************************
Because Kelly is really good, but Jones is unreal, we could have both and have a really good mostly english back four?

----------------------------------------------------------

This is typical of the mentality that annoys me most. Why would we want english players above all else? 1- England are crap. 2- we dont support England, we support liverpool. 3- Theres alot more value in bringing in players from other leagues.
As long as we can fill the quota for homegrown players which we will with Kelly, Carra, Flanno, Stevie, Jay, Carroll and the likes, then we will be grand. We should concentrate on bringing in Hazard and Mata and that quality of player. Players who are gonna get us back on top. Not F**cking English players who are the most overrated bunch iv ever seen.

It's the big will he won't he of the moment, Ashely Young, the coveted England winger, has to choose between Liverpool and Manchester United. Come to Liverpool, Ashley, we'll love you like a son

Dear Ashley,

I can see you now, sat over lunch with the England squad, sharing a bit of 'harmless banter' with Rio, laughing heartily at John Terry continuously trying to hide the sausage in the cleaning lady's apron and bemoaning the current trend for inverted wingers with your old pal James Milner. But I know it's all a facade, behind that poker face that some might call gormless you are a tumult of emotions. Red or Red, Good or Evil, The Beatles or Oasis, The Tate or The Lowry, The Ropewalks or The Trafford Centre, Southport or Alderley Edge, King Kenny or Sir Alex, Liverpool or Manchester United.

I know Rio has probably been in your ear, telling you how comfy the bikes are at Carrington, how nice the Ossobuco is at his Italian restaurant and that the gaffer is really a nice old bloke, often drunk, who now only uses the hairdryer to dry the egg yolk off his tie in the mornings. But believe me mate, it's all a lie, a sham. Yes, Manchester United might have just won their 19th title, but they also got torn limb from limb by Barcelona, Scholes has gone, Giggs is on the way out, Fergie will play Park ahead of you in big matches and, due to size, Nani, that odious twerp, will be your training partner. Oasis are no more, Ashley, so dig out the White Album, borrow Glen Johnson's Carra to English dictionary and listen to the reasons why you should join Liverpool instead of Manchester United.

Anfield

Ok mate, I'll be straight with you, there won't be any of those famous European nights next season. But, as I'm sure you are aware, there is more atmosphere at Anfield on a wet Wednesday against Villa than the denizens of Old Trafford can muster for a Champions League game.

Chelsea are rudderless, Arsenal up sh*t creek and Man City is no place for a flying winger. The future is bright, the future is Liverpool.

Instant Acclaim

We've had some truly awful wingers in recent memory. Believe me pal, all you need to do on your first appearance at Anfield is twist the full-back inside and out and deliver a cross that is near to the same postcode of Andy Carroll's head. A screamer would be nice, of course, as would becoming the John Barnes to Luis Suarez's Peter Beardsley. But, if I'm being honest, being the new Stan Collymore would do. Two seasons of outright brilliance is all we're after, just try not to sh*g the manager's daughter. You might fancy replacing Ryan Giggs at Manchester United, but even though Giggs has hardly played on the wing since Tony Blair was just that nice bloke on tele rather than a lapdog who liked having peanut butter spread on his nuts and then lapped off by the tongue of a Texan imbecile, it ain't gonna happen. I did mention you'll have to be friends with Nani, didn't I? He might look like Michael Jackson on the Off The Wall cover but, please believe me, he is a tool. And he can't moonwalk either. Wazza handles that, apparently, no-one's told him that walking around with his flabby a*se out isn't, technically, a moonwalk.

The Hairdryer

In the first instance, due to your high-fade, you don't need one. Secondly, why get screamed at by a ranting Scotsman who was famous as a player for the use of his elbows when you can have a laugh with a genial Scot who, in his pomp, was one of the greatest players to grace the British Isles. Kenny will work on your finishing, probably cut out all this inverted nonsense and, if you're really lucky, take you to see Tinie Tempah at the Liverpool Echo Arena.

Andy Carroll

Have you seen what happens when a ball is whipped in near the head of Liverpool's leviathan? Rather than playing tippy tappy with Berba or passing to Rooney and letting him hog the limelight, you, with those delicious crosses from the right-flank, will probably get more assists than the entire squadron of Manchester United wingers put together. You, Glen Johnson and the big man will form such a partnership that you'll never have to worry about losing your England place again to Shaun Wright Phillips.

Money

Let's not p*ss about here, have you seen how much debt Manchester United are in? Last summer I wouldn't have dared to write this letter, but now Liverpool are in the ascendency. A new owner, no debt, a commitment to buying brilliant young players (see what I did there?) and a manager who beloved by everyone at the club. Manchester United bought a homeless person last year such is their plight, the days of them spending £30m on a marquee signing every summer are long gone. We, however, are going to buy Phil Jones, Svetan Jovetic and, if you ask nicely, we might even buy Benty, Downing or Gabby to keep you company.

Football is cyclical

I'm not sure if you're much of a historian, but Burnley and Preston were once dominant forces in the game. Liverpool might not have won a title since the days of tight shorts and lager as a thirst quencher, but before that Manchester United didn't win the league for 27 years. Fair play to them for winning it this season past but that is just a notch in the history books now, we're one behind, two ahead in Europe and about to take flight on a glorious adventure and land back on our f**king perch. Chelsea are rudderless, Arsenal up sh*t creek and Man City is no place for a flying winger. The future is bright, the future is Liverpool.

04 Jun 2011 21:24:29
This Is what I know

Were meeting Aguero at the end of the month
John Henry is surprisingly working on deals however not sure who
Adam deal done if we want it officially done we just have to say but were holding out for better
Lastly commoli is working his socks of for deals for downing Henderson and mata
There has been no bid for wickham and jones

Not going to mention a source take it or leave it, I'm putting my neck on the line mentioning to you

Matt priskin

04 Jun 2011 21:24:29
trying to work out what names kk has told reina we r buying to keep him at anfield. it cant be just the names regularly been published at moment from sunderland, wigan, villa etc. my feeling is the marquee signings will be spanish therefore i can see both mata and alonso signing. Add to them downing, jones, wickham and henderson for the future would be excellent summer.

04 Jun 2011 21:19:31
Why does every ed seem to play down the interest in Henderson when it is clear that Liverpool are interested and what to buy him not having a go just a bit sceptical that's all. {Ed002's Note - I have not played down interest.}

04 Jun 2011 21:19:02
ED, i hope we dont buy Adam or Henderson or Cattermole as we have a perfect up and coming talent in Lucas!

04 Jun 2011 21:20:48
Yesterday me and sergio aguero were in maccies havin a mcflurry and then he wanted a crunchie one so i said give me the £1.19 and ill buy it. The he said hold on and opened his purse and an Italian bmt fell out along with a contract signed with the lfc badge at the top. He said sorry mate got no money, joining lfc will give me 200k+ a week so i can buy loads of mcflurrys. So this is proof he will sign for lfc.

Hi Eds,

Great work that you guys are doing on here.

Guy's please can you tell me if you share my views on some of the players that have been linked with the club, Despite these players coming with premier league expeirence and have the potential to progress.
i don't actually feel as though they will improve our squad, what are you thoughts

N'zogbia(10 mill)
Henderson(15 mill)
Downing(17 mill)
Wickham(10 mill)
all have potentional but over priced, i believe we should push for better players.

04 Jun 2011 21:01:38
Have we been linked with Marc Albrighton recently? Apparently Aston Villa are interested in Joe cole. Maybe cash + Cole?

Hes a good young player who will be awesome for the future.

This football_agent9 on twitter has some interesting things if true, gervinho gone to Newcastle, hazard will be leaving Lille, Henderson 10 mil and nzogbia 12 mil
Any truth or believability in these???
Jordlfc

Why would sunderland accept 10 million when they turned down 13 million

Hope this is rubbish, only one I like !

04 Jun 2011 20:29:16
id like to see a variety of players, like...

Jordan henderson - mid - 15 to 20 million
Scott parker - mid - 7 to 10 million
Stewart downing - wing - 10 to 15 million
Juan mata - wing/mid - 20 to 25 million
Gervinho - striker - 12 to 18 million
Gael clichy - f back - not sure

What do you think ed's ?
Jonessy lfc {Ed002's Note - Most are possible.}

04 Jun 2011 20:22:22
any rumours about who were selling havent heard a thing this summer players i want to see leave
joe cole
jovanvic
degen
konchesky
auerilo
ngog

04 Jun 2011 20:17:48
Instead of blowing 15-20m on Jordan Henderson, why don't we make a bid of similar size to Ajax for Christian Eriksen? Henderson could be a very good player in the future but it's really too early to tell, whereas Eriksen is the real deal, like a better version of Jack Wilshire. Henderson's price is only inflated because he's English. I understand that Eriksen has suggested he will not be moving this summer, but an upfront bid can't hurt before we turn to inferior alternatives.

04 Jun 2011 20:17:31
Cisse is the old face returning to Anfield

04 Jun 2011 20:06:50
Ed do you think there is a possibility of a bid for Marc Albrighton. He looks like a great talent and we've been linked with every toung English player under the son so he could be added to the list.

Charlie Adam (but i want to see Ever Banega or Javi Martinez instead)
Enzogbia (whatever way his name is spelt)

{Ed002's Note - Looks good aside from Martinez who is, I am afraid, on the 0/10 list. But a question is there such a thing as a "normal" 15 year old?}"

he's got about 2 seasons left tops i reckon, so a good quality CB is needed for the long term and i believe that Phil Jones is that man! quality player, got the same attributed as Carra and will be the ideal replacement. Future Captain for LFC!

YNWA :) KK to do get #19 within 2 seasons!

*******************************
What about Martin Kelly? Connor Coady? They are class and well capable to replace Carragher... I dont think we need another Centre half unless Agger or Kyrgiakos leave IMO

FENWAY SPORTS GROUP of the USA are in advanced negotiations with Sheikh Mohammed bin al-Im Mintedla to form what would be one of the worlds wealthiest sporting conglomerates.

The deal is believed to cover baseball, soccer, motor racing, horse racing and Polo and would see both parties sharing lucrative global broadcasting and merchandising rights.

Bin al-Im Mintedla is the brother-in-law of Sheikh Saud Bin Saqr al Qasimi, emir of Ras al-Khaimah. The secretive sports fanatic, estimated to be worth $22bn through lucrative ringtone and cement-mixer businesses also owns the up-and-coming Mint-La-Mint (MLM) horse racing stable.

FSG, who purchased English soccer club Liverpool FC for $450M in Oct 2010, are believed to be eager to tap into the vast wealth of the Arab sports market and see a deal with the concrete mogul as an ideal way to cement such a move.

The multi billion dollar partnership could see as much as $500M released to FSG's Red Sox baseball franchise and a further $300M immediately pumped into LFC's transfer kitty, dwarfing anything their English rivals are likely to invest in new players this summer.

Sources close to negotiations said today the deal is likely to be concluded within the next 7 days, providing a timely boost to the plans of LFC manager Ken Dalglish to bolster his playing roster.

Representatives of MLM and FSG were unavailable for comment. A spokesman for Liverpool FC said "We dot not comment on rumour and speculation"

If this is true and going ahead, and obviously the club have been vying for it for some time, it may explain why Liverpool are not afraid of meeting Agueros price or wages, and may also be part of the reason we can shop at the top?

Am I the only person that does not want to see Joe Cole leave?

Yes, he commands a high wage, but he is a very good player when fit. It just hasn't been his season for fitness. I for one hope he stays, we could only sell him for a couple of mill anyway, why not just keep him as back-up?

Xabi Alonso returning? well if the rumour mongers are to be believed then he is. Yes, he was and still is an outstanding passer of the ball but remember he is also two years older, and so are his legs!

I loved the bloke whilst he was playing for us, and I still hold him in esteem, however La Liga is not the Premiership, and let's be honest Xabi wasn't the most quickest, mobile or hardest tackler the first time around, so if, and a big if, he was to return then who is going to do his running and tackling?

We as a team need to progress to the next level, and I don't think by bringing Xabi back would be progressive, it may not be regressive either, but I personally think our team and especially the midfield, needs more speed, mobility and dynamism and unfortunately, for mine Xabi just isn't it.

Do you lot actually know how Wikipedia works?

So far today Jordan Henderson has played for Sunderland, Liverpool, Manchester United, FC United of Mancheter, Persija Jakarta (???) and numerous other teams.

All of these rumours are of course utter s@*t as he's still very much a Sunderland player.

As for whether or not he's good enough for Liverpool, I think he certainly is. The whole reason FSG want this sort of player is because a £10m purchase now might save £20m in 4-5 years. Some will pay off and some won't obviously. (Lee Catermole on the other hand certainly isn't good enough!)

My main concern is what will happen to Jonjo Shelvey if we sign Henderson. Given Jonjo's recent games however I'm not totally convinced that Kenny has decided on his best position.

After 5 years maybe Suso, Coady can rock. But now?
We know that Meirles misses some game due to sick and Gerrard misses due to injury. Then there is no depth in mid-position. Lucas, spearing and shelvey all are just getting better. Even Henderson is not fully matured but can provide some variety and depth to squad.
Young can be good if we have poachers in front like Owen. But now we need wingers like Mata, Perotti. What do you think ed.
st YNWA {Ed001's Note - we don't need players like Owen, we need width now, that is the single biggest priority at the club.}

Some people are just so completely wrong and obsessed by the fact we are buying Aguero and Hazard. I feel really sorry for the ed's having to trawl through endless posts on players who would never in a million years come to LFC and when others mention players like Henderson these people think that they're not good enough just because of the team they play for. Why spend 40m on Aguero when we could buy a brilliant young talent for 15-17m some people on this site just really baffle me sometimes.

15 Million for practically unproven player, not to be doubting or unfaithful, but I think we need to stop paying over the odds for players if that's true. 50 Million on two players that still learning themselves seems a lot of money (Carrol) The percentage of one of them becoming a flop is staking up. 15 mil for a young players putting a lot of weight on there shoulders. Hope I am totally wrong.

04 Jun 2011 16:25:17
Everyone's talking about Jordan Henderson coming to us... but where would he fit in? Right mid is covered by Kuyt and the middle is covered by Gerrard and (as much as I hate to say it) Lucas.

Also, I think we should drop Lucas and start looking at a top DM. Scott Parker would be perfect, maybe Lass Diarra, maybe Fernando Gago.
________________________________

When was the last time you watched a liverpool match? Lucas was voted our player of the year and there is a reason he was outstanding last year.

*********************

I posted that... and whilst I think lucas is a hard worker, he dosen't give anything to the team, no goals, he only passes sideways or backwards, he slows the play down and he isn't the quickest. Him getting player of the season is a bit of a joke to be honest. It should have been Kuyt...

_______________

Everyone loves goals and assists, Lucas fully deserved player of the year because he did the job of holding midfielder very very well, teams need midfield players like him. We have to paly a holding midfield player as this gives gerrard room to be the mistero he is.

04 Jun 2011 16:23:25
Why dont Liverpool sign Sanchez, M'villa, Sakho, Affelly, Llorente, Neymar and all these other world class players? Have you tools ever thought about the fact that most of these players dont want to come to LFC. We are a team living on reputation alone and once we start getting back to winning ways in the premiership and compete in the champions league again no real stars are going to sign for us only young POTENTIAL and British established players. So get used to the Henderson, Downings and Wickhams of this world. Dont forge KK signs his fare share of rubbish also Jimmy Carter, Micheal Thomas, David Speedie, etc etc. This pains me to say it maybe Commolli should sign the players he wants to bring in and let KK and SC manage/coach the team?

So, After hearing all these quite frankly ridiculous rumours whilst relaxing by the pool in my hotel and admiring the backdrop behind me of the Vicente Calderon I decided to go for some paella in the local market in Madrid.

As I was walking out of my hotel I couldn't help but notice a perculiar looking man walking across the bridge towards the hotel on the other side of the street. It wasn't his glasses, his black yet greying hair or his long jacket with the abbrieviation D.C on the collar that caught me by suprise but his briefcase. It was silver and had a small french flag on the side. Obviously any normal briefcase isn't going to catch my eye. This was because this briefcase was a Tassia Classic briefcase and, on further inspection, was handcuffed to this gentlemens arm. As he walked by I greeted him and began to converse. Madrid is very friendly for this. After a few minutes of conversation I moved onto the pressing matter - the handcuffed briefcase. He looked at me and replied, in a slight french accent may I add, "Aahh, my friend, I keep loosing it. You see I already lossed it at my local swimming pool, in Liverpool, and I dropped it whilst getting out of the car here the other day. Furthermore still when I got off the plane a couple of hours ago, it was snagged at the top and was damaged. Probably some "merde" luggage worker throwing it around. It contains very important information and I do not wish to loose it again.

I was, at this point becoming confused so I questioned no further into this little mans story and waved him on his way. He replied "Walk on my friend..."

He wasn't the most contempt man I've ever spoken to though and as he walked off I heard him mutter under his breath " pppphhh £39 million pounds for this, Eden Hazard would have been easier..."

Anyway I left it at that and went off for some paella, which by the way was very nice. After a while though I put two and two together and realising i'd been mistaken ridiculing all these threads I rushed back to my room and posted here to make amens.

In the light of this little frenchmans words

Walk on my friends....

Hes blatantly just taking the p**s. U should know by now that ED002 gives us no chance of signing any quality players!. Well a "maybe on Mata" but ED002 only thinks we can attract players like Marveaux and Dann, even tho Suarez came in January when the club wasn't even in as good a position than it is now!.
We're not naive to think we can sign any quality player but we know for a fact we can still attract quality players, like Suarez. Can i just say Some of the signing being touted by press are just not true! The likes of Henderson, Enrique, Dann, Barton, Downing! And i can tell you why for one simple reason!
When Pepe reina spoke to the press he said he never wanted to leave and after seeing what kind of summer is install for the Club he can see we are going in the right direction!! Now ask yourselves would these players be enough for Reina to say YES THEY ARE THE PLAYERS FOR LFC.....

in reply we will sign 1 maybe 2 world class players to step into the first 11 but the players u mention above fit the criteria the owners want young and mainly british. Liverpool will get young players to boost the squad as a whole reina will be happy with 2 more signings like we got in jan to improve the first 11 but the youngsters talked about will still be signed as we build for the future we aint Real Madrid so do not expect millions spent on 4 or 5 world class players. Dann or Jones we will go for enrique or clichy for left back henderson and adam for cm also can cover in wide positions we will also get the likes of downing and n'zogbia. Major signings that will please pepe will more than likely be Mata and another suprise player that no 1 has yet mentioned it is how WE do business.

It should have been Kuyt...
........................................................................

U say he offers no goals as a dm, but the best holding player in makelele never scored. U say he doesn't pass forward so didn't u watch us against fulham away, where he did 2 defence splitting passes that created 2 goals

Hi ed, is this rumour about neymar nailed on to Liverpool 9/10 true. I did see it on the chelsea rumour page but then just saw a rumour on our page that he is 0/10 chances signing for us, is he going to be a liverpool player next season?? {Ed002's Note - You need to read the whole post in context. I have explained already about Liverpool's chances of getting Neymar.}

Are you a Liverpool fan ed? {Ed002's Note - So Eds are and some are not. I am the easiest going of the Eds renowned for having a slight preference for Chelsea, AS Monaco and the SF Giants.}

I believe that we only need to fill three or four postions with a good player. they are left wing, a back up striker, J.Henderson is a dead cert, and final a left back if kenny doesn't fill J.Robinson is ready just yet and to guide him

i belive that players like
Wilson
Sterling
Shelvey
Kelly
Coady
Flanagan
Ayala
Hansen
Amoo
Wisdom
Morgan
Robinson
are ready to play first team football on a regular basis and they will help us to dominate england in the future i believe that they have the passion and know what the club means to the fans unlike players like Denilson, nicklas bendtner and others at the likes of arsenal if these players did have passion and wanted to win instead of collecting there wages then then arsenal and other teams in the world that follow this system would of had more success in the last two seasons like barca have

We don't need Adam, M'Villa etc because we've already got a playmaker (Stevie G.)

Steve G is not playmaker, he is box to box player like Lampard. Only real playmaker LFC had 2010-2011 was Raul M. KK will most probably play 4-4-2 next season so Kuyt will be back up for Suarez. We can't get rid off Cole so we expect Cole, Maxi as wingers N'Zogbia if are lucky to sign him and McGeady also if we are lucky to sign him as well.
Aquilani is probably coming he is DM and playmaker at the same time. Kranjcar would be back up for Gerrard also not expensive. Enrique will cover LB pos.
PEOPLE STOP DREAMING ABOUT AGUERO, MATA, HIGUAIN, BENZEMA, PROBABLY NOT EVEN A.YOUNG WILL COME.

In response to this:

Surely we have to qualify for the champions league before we can win it again. Have you thought players like Sanchez, Neymar or Hazard may have better offers and want champions league guaranteed, which we obviously can't offer.

Papa G

---------------------------------------

Yes I am aware that we will have to qualify for the CL first mate. All i am saying is that we can not aspire to bigger and better things if the likes of Charles Insomnia (someone else called him that but i had to laugh lol), Enrique and Adam are the measure of our aspirations. As i have said in previous posts, teams such as Barca and the like, who routinely win things, are often full with top players. Not taking anything away from the mentioned players or anything but i do not think we can hope for too much if that is who we are buying. Who knows though?, i could be very wrong and forced to eat my words. As for the question of if i have thought about players like Sanchez having had better offers, of course i have. I did post the rumour of Sanchez to Barca after all.

Hi guys,

Sorry to have to inform you of this but after considering the matter for an extended period of time I have decided that the time is right to leave Liverpool Football Club. I'm writing this now to inform the people who are most important to me of my decision before I tell the press, the fans.

This was a hard decision to come to but unfortunately my heart lies elsewhere. Yesterday afternoon I was at Carrington training Ground where I successfully passed a full Medical and signed a 4 year contract for the current champions of England Manchester United.

It may come as a surprise to many of you that I have been a fan of Manchester United all my life, I've had to take out numerous super-injunctions to hide this fact from the press but recently its made me feel hollow inside. Watching my beloved Manchester United win trophy after trophy after trophy after trophy... while Liverpool have endured somewhat of a barren spell has been incredibly hard to take. Liverpool has been my home for the past the majority of the last 2 decades but I have always been and always will be a Red Devil.... YNWA

This is what it says on the chelsea website.
Also Neymar is not coming to us, he's obviously either going to Barcelona or Liverpool :( {Ed002's Note - Neymar is Liverpool nailed on I hear. 9/10. Please don't tell the Liverpool fans just yet though.}
Eds, is this true???????

{Ed002's Note - Chelsea are looking to refresh their strikers so I would not rule them out entirely. However, both Chelsea and Manchester United failed to put a package together that was acceptable to the player after discussions with his representatives. Juventus then spent two days with his representatives and whilst we don't know whether they came up with the right package for the player, but they did make an offer to negotiate a fee with Atletico Madrid, but that was rejected. I don't see Chelsea going back with another package for the player just yet. I would not yet entirely rule out Real Madrid regardless of what has been said. Again I am not so sure Manchester United have completely removed themselves from the equation after failing, like Chelsea, to put an acceptable package together for the player. Now we have Aguero and his representatives trying to get Roma and Bayern Munich to make a bid. As we stand right now Barcelona, Manchester City and Liverpool are out of the loop. If they wish to get involved they know what they will need to do but I would suspect there is only the slimmest of chances of him moving to Anfield. It is all about money.}
...........................

Ed (great site BTW) you need to read the spanish papers, you are way off the mark Agueros agent met with the Barcelona reps last night about a move to Barca!

{Ed002's Note - You believe the papers - not me?}

A few rumours going round about a toffee man crossing the park, by many assumed to be Baines, although I've heard a few un-related and separate mentions recently of a certain mr.Rodwell. Now I myself am very sceptical of this rumour but it would fit in with the young - homebased, strategy that we are currently employing! This would be a great signing in my opinion, he's also a manure target and considered evertons most outstanding young player. I live in Anfield and frequent the local drinking holes where every other person seems to know 'a certain gentleman'. Although I doubt this will happen it is food for thought...

Eds, a little confused with all the players we're getting linked with; are we seriously looking at "potential"? How about the potential that's already at the Club?

C Wickham = Morgan/N'Goo?
McCarthy/Henderson = Coady/Jonjo/Spearing/plus other midfielders?

Surely we should be looking at getting the "spine" of the team right, think we were getting there a few years ago with Pepe, Carra, Alonso, Mach, Stevie and FT. But we didnt add the quality around these. We have again got solid foundations - Pepe, Agger (if fit) Johnson, Kelly, Meireles, Lucas, Stevie, Suarez, Carroll.

What we need is quality around these - leftback, maybe a CB, 2/3 wingers and another quality striker who knows where the net is. The youngsters can be drafted in, when needed, to gain experience. Why spend 10/15/20 million on players because they have "potential"? No point in having a great academy if we don't give the youngsters a chance.

Our backup goal kipper will be Nikolai Mihaylov( Bulgaria)He was recently quoted saying that Liverpool now have retained an option to buy him back from Twente as he has played enough games for his native country's national team to qualify for a work permit.He also played in the Champions League and was voted top 3 foreign players in Dutch football

I've also heard we are looking for a left sided sardine.....midfield red herring....and a right sided pilchard.

IMO u can't blame the owners 4 who we r linked with ie n'zogbia, Henderson, Enrique etc that is DC & KK. Wot that up2 40m on them 3?

But again IMO no disrespect but these players won't help us close the gap on 4th.

It's a shame coz I think we r only 3 top quality players short of really challenging.

Note to owners: If you buy big, you will win big. The likes of N'zogbia, Adam, Enrique, will not win us the champions league
The Crow

Not true. The new financial fair play rules will gradually make this approach unfeasible for most clubs. The new owners are taking the right approach in buying young and thereby relatively cheap talent and investing in the youth set up. Barca are reaping the rewards from this approach (David Villa aside) with most of there starting 11 coming from their academy. We all like to see 'big' signings but it may not happen this window. The right way isn't always the quickest way my friend. We may have to be more patient until are squad gradually improves enough to play CL football regulary, therby making us a more attractive prospect to the likes of Aguero, Sanchez etc who can be used to fill gaps in the team that the academy isn't. Sorry to sound patronising, but some of the rumours on here are completely unrealistic and unless we get a grip I fear there will be a backlash against the owners when a 'superstar' doesn't arrive this summer.

I've not got long to type this since I'm at work.

I work at the airport and I manage all the suitcases down below shipping them to their correct flights.

There was one suitcase in particular that stood out however and on later inspection I realised it was a Briefcase. On the side was a small French flag and engraved on the top locks were the initials D.C.

As usual I picked it up, took it in my hand and chucked it onto the trolley for it's destination.

Unfortunatly though my wedding ring caught on the handle, snagged and the briefcase split at the top. As it hit the floor a pair of Foster Grant spectacles and a brown document slipped out. I hastily picked them up and was carefully re-sealing the briefcase ready for the trolley when in the corner of my eye I saw a sticker. On the sticker labelled these words "£39M, Sergio Aguero, Details enclosed.

Staring right infront of me were documents agreeing the transfer, fee and wages of Sergio Aguero to Liverpool. I could not look anymore however because the trolley was on it's way and so i placed the briefcase onto the trolley and waved it away.

As soon as my shift finished I rushed to my laptop and came here.

I was hoping to be the first to break the news.

Walk on my friends....

I took the post code which was in the blundelsands a haunt where carra lives and to my amasement when asking for the clients name he told me Sergio Aguero so you have heard it from me that not only is Aguero signing up for LFC he will also be signing up to BT and ill get my self a nice lil bonus for the triple i set up ;)

Well thats just great.............You based in INDIA then along with the rest of BT's Sales for BT VISION?? Amazing how Aguero's agent gets through to an English speaker!!! Took me a week!!

I wish Aguero would just sign anywhere so that we can get back to reality....he's just not coming to LFC.......FACT!

There's more chance of Howard Webb signing for us....

Please try harder when creating rumours, or adding to them. 1) Why would his agent be worrying about BT at the present time. 2) He wouldn't give out the name to anyone until it was official he had signed. 3) He WON'T sign for us. Even though he's a great player, we don't need him, especially not for the stupid money it would take.

Dorset, sorry suppose winger is the wrong description, he was a RM converted to a CM. Think he may take up that RM position that Merelies and Kuyt dont take to particularly well, so while not a world beater he would hopefully be an improvement. The one thing I will say is he not the most tricky but fairly quick and delivers a good cross, especially from deep.

Well, it amuses me anyway...

N'Zogbia is/is not the level of winger we need in the starting 11. (Believable = Yes, Unbelievable =No) On the bench would be fine for me, but I would prefer a host of others, Mata, Turan, Young, etc. starting the match.

How about a player who rang his agent when he could not figure out how to use his washing machine. Eds..great site....Not a rumour, more a rant, why did Rafa ever think Barry was a good replacement for Alonso? One of the best passers of the ball in recent years, was disrespectful to Xabi, this has been bugging me for years, weird decision.

Anyway, back to the transfers, we don't need to spend big money on a forward, Carroll and Suarez will do a lot of damage this season. Kuyt and Suarez looked like they'd been playing for years together, at the end of the season. We need CB, LB and LW for sure, dont know much about Jones at Blackburn, but I hear he would be a good long term replacement for Carra, who at LB? Any firm rumours???? Fabio is ok, but not great, Robinson will need a year to get more experience. Does Adam Johnson play on the left as well? He'd be a good buy, Marveaux looks like done already, and Mata....excited for the new season....its great being able to read the Sunday papers again, thanks Kenny!!

our signings will be enrique/vargas, downing, nzogbia, mata, wikham, phil, henderson, dann.
what do you think ? any name you wanna add ??

04 Jun 2011 13:48:42
Just heard spurs have come in for henderson from a reliable source from sunderland, liverpool and spurs favourites from 5 clubs!

What is it with spurs and trying to sign EVERYBODY we're interested in?

"Gerrard greatly, he hasnt performed as strongly as he might in the past few seasons"

Rubbish, had he been fit this last season he would have been the star he has been for the last few seasons. He cannot go on forever but he expects to be fit again next season and I suspect will prove almost impossible to leave out. He is only 31, players of his quality can be good Prem players into their mid 30's.

04 Jun 2011 13:45:48
Dann to liverpool is an almost cert i lad i work with is good mates with Scott and he is a die hard liverpool fan has said would love to play for either Liverpool or Everton as he knows how well the fans support their clubs fits in to the criteria of the owners
-----------------------------------------------

How many die hard Liverpool fans would love to play for Everton??

Think before you chat nonsense.

04 Jun 2011 13:44:07
when did kenny say an old face would be returning?

04 Jun 2011 13:41:54
In reply to Dorset Red, Henderson is not an enforcer at all...he is actually a winger converted to play CM last yr by Bruce. More in the Beckham / Bentley mould. Lets hope he turns out more like Beckham than Bentley!

04 Jun 2011 13:41:45
KK spoke of old familiar faces returning to Liverpool.

I have reliable information that 2 of these are Erik Meijer and Sean Dundee. KK is hoping that these 2 will inspire Suarez & Carroll and all 4 will be competing for first team.

Happy days ahead.

04 Jun 2011 13:41:29
this is just putting 2+2 together i think the player returning 4 coaching is hyypia

04 Jun 2011 13:39:58
If todays press are to be believed we are linked with nzogbia and wickham (i know these names have been linked with us for a while now) as well as henderson, whilst I know its early days but is anyone else a little concerned that we could spend upto 30 mil on these three players and would anyone out there be happy if by season starts that our only signings were these three good but in my opinion not (or not yet) top drawer. I know I'm probably concerned over nothing but would really like to wake up and read that we have made an offer for a truly top finished article player

LFC do no longer want Cattermole or Barton. They want Henderson deal done my Wednesday and are inquiring about N'Zogbia. Mata is at a decent stage in which the fee I have been told is nearly agreed. Finally LFC don't want/need augero! We will bid 8m for Wickham within the next couple of days!

Once again can't reveal the source as theyed be in deep s**t!

the old face kk was refering to is ANELKA...my immediate thoughts were FRIEDEL or RIERA and then id heard the TORRES rumour that he was returning but after reading thru many reviews, forums and speaking to my usual info squad, everything seems to point to Nicholas!! Drogba will still be the main striker at Chelsea alongside Nando.....Anelka will be returning to add strength in depth to our strikeforce...so for those that say we have Carroll and Suarez...thats only 2 strikers! Anelka will give the extra fire that can start or be brought on from the bench.

Massive news just in, I have just been out practicing Falkonry with my Red Kite Flapsey, he's a young bird and not yet fully trained in the art of Falkonry, sometimes he flys out of site, but he is very loyal and always comes home and very often has presents of dead birds or small rodents for his master(me), today he came back with a dead pigeon, not a horrible city pigeon but a lovely clean pigeon with feathers soft as moss on a rolling hillside, to my astonisment the pigeon had an Athletico Madrid ring on its right leg, attached to the ring was a message destined for Anfield, the message stated that Athletico have accepted a £39 million pound offer for Aguero and that the player has also agreed to the personal terms the club have offered, so it's official Aguero will be playing for Liverpool next season, remember where you heard it first.

News in that Henderson wants to tie up the LFC deal asap. Obvs. he is at U21 Euro's so soon as it finishes, deal looks likely. Sunderland have lowered their price to 18mil from 20. Somewhere in between is likely. And Liverpool scouts have been deployed at Euro Qualifiers, and at U21 level, to look at specific players, still unknown as to who. Some good s**t concerning LFC atm :)

People need to understand Kenny , Comolli, and FSG have a vision to put LFC back where they belong and that is well underway, thankfully we have owners who are prepared to fulfill that vision , Kenny -remember when Kenny was last in charge he left an aging squad , when Souness took over like him or loathe him he was left in a dilemma, Kenny probably feels responsible in ways for Liverpools demise and now he wants to rectify it, he has learned from past mistakes and he is making sure LFC will have stability for years, Its all in place The Academy , the first team, going after young hungry players mostly from this country and a couple of extra special from poss from abroad(remember old Liverpool sides Kenny formed and Blackburn too) who are PROUD and Honoured to wear the shirt like the old days getting rid of dead wood, journeymen and prima donnas are are here for a few quid get rid asap and thats whats happening, its all change fellow Kopites so i would not be surprised to see, Henderson , McCarthy, Wickham, Dann, Jones, Downing, and maybe a nother prob Mata and we need to understand if there is players better than what we have got there is no room for sentiment, We have a fantastic team in place with Kenny, Steve Clarke and the coaching staff, Comolli, Ian Ayres, FSG and most prob a refurbished Anfield its all good im excited you should be to bless ya loads on a lighter note ED, could we have a write in on most famous LFC fans be good fun there is the obvious but reading the echolast night and found out Gary Barlow and Mark Owen are mad LFC fans the best one for me is Donnie Wahlberg go to you tube and watch NKOTB on tour , watch him at the M.E.N arena pure class brings e a tear to your eye great site by the way {Ed002's Note - I have no idea who all these folks are that you mention at teh end of of the post. But why not, knock yourself out.}

04 Jun 2011 12:58:41
This is what I'd like to see in

Juan Manuel Mata: £23M (Marquee Signing)
Adam Johnson: £16M (Fast, English, Young)
Charlie Adam: £7M (Dream delivery and set-pieces)
Sylvain Marveaux: £0M ( Backup Winger)
Iker Muniain: £18M ( Better than Wickman - only 18)
Gael Clichy £7M (good EPL full back)

Total: £70M.

I think we can make £15-25M from selling our deadwood and then we have all positions covered.

04 Jun 2011 12:50:59
Can i just say i can see us getting ripped off i mean wickham is not worth 10 million, Henderson is not worth 15-20 million, Downing is average at best and no way worth 16 million, McCarthy 10 million i mean some of these players might have had 1 good season i would prefer to get players from abroad instead of paying silly money for players who have proved nothing we paid 15 million too much for Carroll just because his english

Raj

--------------------------

I completely agree, yes i understand there is the 'home-grown' rule coming into affect but judging my the success of the english national team in recent years, purely buying home-grown players with ridiculously over inflated prices makes little sense. i agree that investing some of our budget on young 'home-grown' players makes perfect sense but i think there are much better and cheaper alternatives elsewhere.

04 Jun 2011 12:48:38
What I have liked about players we have been linked with, is that nearly all currently ply their trade in the Premier League. No need for the players to take a year to adjust to the pace of the league. And the players from abroad being linked (Mata) are of proven quality and should not need to long to adjust

Hi Eds and LFC family,

I would take McCarthy as long term Gerrard replacement over Henderson any day, get McCarthy now before it's too late; he will also be better than Adam under KK.

BTW if we can get both McCarthy and Henderson that would be good! We still have Mirieles, Gerrard and Lucas after all!

Hi Ed's

In response to the below OK fair point Raj but what about Dossena, kronkamp , morientes , insua, ngog, Aquilani and a whole host of foreign players that were bought and have not performed.If we go for these players you've listed at least they have the experience of the english league and you know what your getting.Look at city they have out spent everyone in the league amassing a expensive talented squad but some days I have seen them they don't look a Team.KK will get players that fit a Team ethic . A couple will be world class and can turn a game.Be patient and let the good times roll.THE FUTURE IS BRIGHT THE FUTURE IS RED ANFIELD RED.

Much as I am not a fan of this 'Alonso to Liverpool' bandwaggon I am beginning to think there may be something in it. I have heard Dalglish is trying to rebuild a side that played in the style they did in the 1980's and to that end is looking for a midfielder to fill the 'Molby' type role - sitting deep, holding the ball, linking between defence and attack, spraying accurate passes, controlling the pace of the game. Apparently he's looking at several ideas - dropping Gerrard back (but will he stay back is the question), working on Lucas's passing abilities or bringing in a finished article (Alonso?) RED LENIN

04 Jun 2011 11:56:40
Ed do you think it is risky to spend so much money on young lads? And do you think we're focussing too much on British players? {Ed002's Note - It is always a risk spending large amounts of money regardless of whether they are kids or not. There are plenty of examples where it has come back to bite the clubs on the asp: Shevchenko, Veron, Aquilani, Reyes etc.. Personally I don't think there is any problem with British players being looked at - it is the quality that is important.}

hi ed just get a txt from friend in uk (london), with connections a deal for turan is really on , nice one he told me first bout robbie keane to pool,
jeff {Ed002's Note - That must be winger number 100 that Liverpool are definately signing this summer.}
----------

Ed, this is a rumours site though, surely everyone knows to take most, if not all, of what they see with a pinch of salt?

{Ed002's Note - I'll try and remember that. And you are incredibly naive if you believe folks take all of this with a pinch of salt - take the £63M plus Joe Cole for Aguero confirmation a couple of days ago.}

04 Jun 2011 11:23:25
I trust in the decisions that kenny will make this summer if we sign the likes of Henderson and jones, wickham they may not be the biggest names or the best players but they can become just that. We need depth in the squad and that is what we have been moaning about not having for the last two years or so
Yes I would love it if we signed aguero or mata the latter is possible but the other signings are also very important for our club in the future

04 Jun 2011 11:20:31
i dont live in liverpool i have no god senses but i believe jones, henderson and wickham will be done deals in next few weeks. alonso is a possibility. no more higuin and benzema rumors they are staying check espnsoccernet.Elia mata and downing are the wingers liverpool are in for. Enrique's s**t we don't need him. There will be many smoke skreens this summer expect the unexpected

04 Jun 2011 11:18:38
I would personally drive poulson to stoke

04 Jun 2011 11:16:09
Can anyone clarify when the 'transfer window' is open. My understanding is that it varies between different associations, but ours is from the end of the season until the end of August. Also a player leaving another association can do so at any time providing the team they are joining has their 'window' open, regardless whether their current associations window is open or closed. Is this the case? I have read elsewhere that international transfers can only take place after July 1st, but I'm not sure that is accurate.

{Ed002's Note - For International transfers I the window will open on July 1. Transfers can be confirmed subject to paperwork being subsequently processed which perhaps what is causing confusion.}

04 Jun 2011 11:10:34
The summer looks to be an interesting one at anfield. I believe will will sign Jones, Hendersson and Wickham but these signings are what we have been doing for the last two seasons. We have invested heavily in young british players and I believe we will start to see these players come through in the latter half of this season. To keep the likes of Reina happy I think there are at least two very big names coming in, one being Mata. I think the other would be a big stab in the dark and we wont hear about it till the deal is done and announced. Personally the players I would like to see brought in would be Baines, Jones, Hendersson, McCarthy Jarvis, Navas, Mata, Wickham and Cavani. If you remember at the start of the season Meireles didnt have the best of times, but under KK he has shone. I think this could be the same for Aquilani but only if he does want a return. I think we also have a star in Suso who will be pushing into the first team this season.

04 Jun 2011 11:09:51

Who have we officially put bids in for?
And what are likelyhood we will sign the players?

Thanks

BIGRED

Ed do you think suso will eventually come a little deepeer?? He has passing like alonso and could keep us ticking. {Ed002's Note - He is a very young lad still, I think it would be nothing more that speculation to say where he will end up playing.}

04 Jun 2011 10:58:55
How reliable is koptalk, becuse it says Juan mata developments and also yound deadline set and that cole, spearing and n'gog are wanted by other clubs.
Alonso to come back 2012/2013 season
the alonso bit is what i've heard {Ed002's Note - Please don't bring the KopTalk rumopurs here or we will get no sleep at all.}

04 Jun 2011 10:57:30
i think this summer will bring:
new gk to replace jones
LB) ?
CB) p.jones
CM) hendeson alonso adam/Mccarthy
WING) n'zogbia albrightion mata) think maxi will stay.
fwd) wickham and one more big name fwd
with the likes of jovanovic, cole, poulson & ngog looking like leaving and our squad all ready being one of the smallest in the league a squad of good players is what we need plus kk likes to play 433 + 442 so he will be able to have depth for both. what do ppl think?

04 Jun 2011 10:51:29
Ed (don't mind which one) I have got a few quick questions for you.

1. Its hard to say but where about do you think Liverpool will finish in the Barclays Premier league Table?

2. How many players do you expect to sign?

3. How much money will be spent?

4. Do you think there will be a marquee signing/s

5. Do you think Juan Manuel Mata will be signed?

{Ed002's Note - The Eds are not really here to sit around all day responding subjectively to such questions - you may do better to try and illicit answers out of other posters to such things. The first three are complete guesswork. Would Mata be a "Marquee" signing or are we talking Sanchez, Pastore, Barton, Neymar? What makes you think there will be a "Marquee" signing? There is of course a chance that Mata will eb signed.}

04 Jun 2011 10:47:32
I dont think we should buy so many young striker, as Suso and Raheem is ready for us next 1 or 2 years.

Ed; how comes in January we went about our buisness rather privately with even the media not actually knowing who we were bidding for until quite far into the process of the transfer, however now all our bids for players (Henderson, Enrique, cattermole ect.) seem to be out straight away? Surely this will only increase the transfer fee if other clubs are aware of our intrest? Or is it being used to detract attention from other players/targets?
Your opinion eds... {Ed002's Note - You have to be joking - the whole saga of Suarez was played out in the press all through the January window.}

Messi to sign for Liverpool for 500k, I know his dad, he told me so.

(8) (1)

There is absolutely no way this will happen, for starters i am sure barca would want more than that for a player of his quality, and i doubt he'd enjoy playing in england, he is very loyal to barca and they don't need the money, very unlikely i'd say mate, and i seriously doubt you know his dad.

Patience people, patience...
people have been saying that we should play like barca play, it's all well and good to say that, but there is a reason they can do it, and why others can't, actually there are 2 reasons, the first reason is that they have the players, players that they developed over the years, but the main reason is that years and years ago the club developed a philosophy, a style of play and certain goals for the future, it didn't matter what manager was in charge at the time because all the real work was being done behind the scenes, in the academy, on the training ground and in the dressing sheds. For liverpool to be as successful as we once were, we need to find a style of play that we want to make use of, we need to develop many MANY youngsters and we need to stay on track for quite a few years to come. Now i want trophies as much as any other fan, and while acheiving this footballing philosophy we will win a few, we will play champions league. We may well make the top 4 next year and win the league the next, but all the while we need to develop an identity again, for a long long time now the fans have been the only ones maintaining a reputation and maintaining an identity, it's the clubs turn now. As much as i hate to say it, we have fallen into the same philosophy as all other european clubs, which is to just focus on the next season, if that fails, buy and sell a bit more and then try again. All teams throughout europe, including this wonderful club have fallen into this way of thinking, the club is losing it's core fundamentals and it is time to bring this all back. Our club has the biggest soul in world football, but it has lately been overlooked for short-term success, although tougher on a commercial basis over the years to come, i believe we need to develop a strong core philosophy for this club, and spend time working towards being the strongest club in the world, not future one hit wonders.

Apologies for the length of this post, but this club needs direction and devotion, not temporary glory

To all the people that keep writing "so we are going to be signing" and then listing 8 or 9 names. Get real we don't need 8 players to sign. We will sign 6 at the most, a DL, ST, 2 wingers, young CB and an MC.

Definate Signings
Jose Enrique (Newcastle) £8.5m
Sylvain Marveaux (Rennes) £0m

Likely Signings
Connor Wickham (Ipswich) £10m
Jordan Henderson (Sunderland) £16.5m
Stewart Downing (Aston Villa) £14m
Phil Jones (Blackburn) £13m

Possible Signings if others don't
Charlie Adam (Blackpool) £8.5m
Juan Mata (Valencia) £23m
Diego Perotti (Sevilla) £8.5m
Charles N'Zogbia (Wigan) £13.5m
James McCarthy (Wigan) £10m
Mamadou Sakho (PSG) £14m

So what if we have wingers who cut in?, there are other ways of scoring goals that hitting a target in the 18yard box, i thought we weren't gonna spend all our money shaping a team around one player, we can't buy players that are probably better than Carroll just to feed him the ball, and besides that it's WAY too 1 dimensional, we need options, and that's what we'll get with players like Mata and Suarez in a front 3.

Wayne Routledge is a target for
Liverpool and the player is said to be extremely keen to join.

Of course he'd be extremely keen to join! Stop posting stupid posts!

Morning all
There was a post earlier saying commolli has missed out on hot prospect Ricky van wolfswinkel.
Can I just add something.
The lad looked absolutely s**te in the 2games against us , and I am glad we've missed out on him.
We need to improve the squad he's probably of a similar level to ngog.

cheers for the quick reply, ant {Ed013's note - this does suggest they are willing to spend I hope they do not just spend money on young British talent and bring in some overseas players like mata}

i like to think as myself as a down to earth liverpool fan ed, never got carried away with the rumours of aguero etc, but this does look like we are goin to spend and hopefully mata is one of the first in cos thats one thing we have missed for many a year now is genuine wide men, hopefully this is the start of somethin big, cheers for the site eds absolutely brilliant

ant

i dont think matter is a genuine wide man, he likes to cut in just as david silva does, quality player tho

just getting something out there, suarez has a never say die attitude because he is uruguayan that attitude isnt exactly shared with most of south america, but i must say that in some cases it is. just think of the world cup.
btw eds love this site and just wit vargas cissoko and mata we will be title contenders for sure

Didn't Kenny say that he would bring in only the highest quality talent, with FSG having no problem investing if warranted (he even spoke about FSG's intentions about Suarez dollars being paid for before Nando even left. Knowing that FSG have no issue with dollar amounts and they were even disappointed that there weren't more players brought in January). This talk of Henderson, Wickham, Oxlade etc. doesn't make sense thinking about the impressive nursery of talent at Melwood. In my opinion we won't see anything but the highest proven quality. The aim is for Champions League and the prem sooner rather than later, not waiting around as one of the biggest clubs in world football to nuture talent. We already have it in out on the park now. Tinkering has been Kenny's main motto in recent times. Buying players ready to go ASAP for immediate future success NOW.

Hi ed, I've got a couple of questions for you

1) Can you tell me what were marveaux wages at rennes?

2) I just want your opinion on this. If we do sign him, could this be another case when the player signed as free agent has wages near to 100k like cole and jovanovic.

Cheers

VM YNWA

{Ed002's Note - {Ed002's Note - (1) I can't tell you what the wages were but they will be much, much lower than wages you hear about in England - perhaps only a third. (2) Perhaps you don't understand about signing on fees. When a player makes a free transfer he will be given a signing on fee - not unlike a transfer fee paid to his club if he was under contract, but a lesser amount. Liverpool typically spread these costs over a longer period - up to the length of the contract. So a deal for say Marveaux will include his salary plus an element of the signing on fee each week or month. Keep in mind that under these circumstances if a player is sold before his contract is up then the club will have to pay the remainder of the signing on fee (as negotiated) as a lump sum. So if Joe Cole of Jovanovic move in the summer they will need to be "paid off" so to speak.}

If we sing Enrique, couldn't we play Johnson on the wing and then that's one of our wings sorted because I believe that he's better going forward then defending.

04 Jun 2011 04:42:29
In what world is these guys Jordan Henderson
Sylvain Marveaux ar ebetter than Ryan Babel......please Ed's comment.....

I might say under KK Ryan Babel would have done perfect job as a left winger...personally i think these two signings Jordan Henderson
Sylvain Marveaux if they happen would be the worst just like Poulsen n Joe Cole..... {Ed002's Note - Is that a "Kenny Out" I hear?}

04 Jun 2011 04:26:41
Oh come on D Comoli now looks like we missed oout on one of the hottest Dutch prospects....Ricky van Wolfswinkel signs for Sporting Lisbon for just 5.400.000 deal. {Ed002's Note - And thus begins the blame if Liverpool do not sign every player going.}

04 Jun 2011 04:17:05
Tom if your going to wax lyrical over a player like you did with Phil Jones.You made it sound like you've seen him play a lot but obviously not, he's right footed, not left like you stated.At least get right what footed a player is before tellin how good he is because it leaves your opinions on players to other posters like me flawed too say the least.Sorry mate do your research, although i do agree he should be the centre back we should go for, can really ping a ball with his right foot if you'd have watched him closely.Jonny Boy6

Please stop with this Mata's £60m /100m euro release clause. Guillem Balague has said 4/5 times on Revista De La Liga Mata can leave for £18-£23m, and yes LFC, City, Manu & Chelsea are all intrested but only Lfc and City have actually talked to his agent/dad.

pls post ed!!!

T-Dog couldn't disagree more then saying if Mata signs for City were in a win win situation.Just say they do sign Mata there's little chance in my opinion of City selling to one of their players Adam Jonson to their rivals on the up and up.He might be in there plans for next season for all we know, probably not but managers opinions can change of a player ala Mancini on Jonson.I'd rather just take care of our own targets and not rely on A signing B then we can get C.I think you get my drift mate.No offence intended but i belive Liverpool can and will sign Mata and defo be in the mix for top 3 next season.Get all their targets, Perroti, Vargas, Adam, Downing Henderson, Wickham and maybe a suprise like Lavezzi or Negrado and we'll be back on our Perch after a mere 12 months.Not 20 years

More talks been held with Mata, he likes the project LFC are determined on undertaking, slowly but surely we're getting there.

Bit confused on whats going to happen with some of our central midfielders though if we sign Henderson, even though he's improved I have a sneaking feeling that Lucas could be sold, but now i'll probably get abuse for saying that from 'fans' that used to grill the lad.

JP----------------------------------------- good point but ive got the feeling we will play 4-3-3 formation next season.with all the players weve been linked with and in with a realilistic chance of getting, i would like to see these players on the pitch come new season!! REINA JOHNSON CARRA JONES IZZAGUIRE LUCAS GERRARD HENDERSON PEROTTI SUAREZ MATA, what are your thoughts on this eds ? {Ed001's Note - personally I would rather use Johnson on the left and Kelly/Flanagan at right back than buy Izzaguirre. I would also like to see Meireles in the team myself.}

04 Jun 2011 02:45:37
I don't no why people keep saying Henderson and jones are not good enough. They are two quality youngsters who have already been steady in the prem jones is left footed and reminds me of Terry but a bit quicker and versatile and also better then Wilson but doesn't mean he would't get chances as well, and Henderson is a good rm he can cross and pass with time to progress and also versatile. Your right ed they have potential. Also gerrard will stay, why would he leave now. Other in will be downing he said he wants to play In the champions league in the future and would of said he wanted it now if he was going to arsenal. Tom

we need to get rid of several players before we can go on a spending spree. i think a lot hinges on selling players like aquilani, poulsen, cole, jovanovic, ngog and getting rid of the deadwood el zhar, degan, konchesky, kyrgiakos.
then there is mavinga, insua, mendy, ayala, eccleston, darby, irwin, ince, jones and pacheco that could leave or be loaned out. i think the club would like to see at least 10-15 outs so they can bring in 6 players give or take.

lets not play a football manager type of game in real life and buy some good talented players.......we should look out more for a defensive midfielder and two very good wingers, that can give us our pride back..19-19

04 Jun 2011 02:03:00
Why is it when we are linked to a player transfer , Manure is linked to that same player.......

04 Jun 2011 01:56:05
We are in a win-win situation. If City sign Juan Mata we are more likely going to try and pursuit Adam Johnson. If not then we will most likely sign Juan Mata. Good position to be in!

Too all the disillusioned lfc fans! We will never win anything with Flanagan, Robinson, spearing, pachaceo, Ayala, and suso playing! Maybe in 5 years time which is another 5 years too long! So stop saying we don't need Henderson/mcarthey/Adam cos we have spearing, Enrique/baines/laz/clichy cos we got flanno etc! Please stop wafferling and agree that we are 50 million off being top 4 and any young potentially world class player that we are being linked with is the best thing in 21 years that could happen to the club! Cant see what the fuss is about playing 15 mil which is what we'd get Vargas for.Some like me and another guy who posted say ye, some say he's not got the pace and plays left wing for Fiorentina.The guy's pro's far outweigh his cons as far as i'm concerned.We'd be getting a player who can cover at least 3 positions, all of which he plays very well, and to compare him to Dossena is like comparing Suarez to Torres, ones got the a heart, the other hasn't.Kolorov doesn't strike me who's up for the physical side of the game, when the going gets tough he'll go hiding, a talent but no bottle at all.think our own little legend Luis Garcia tackled harder den Kolarov and thats saying something.Like the guy said, a lot of Suarez's fighting qualities in him.He's played and impressed at a higher level then Enrique only having i good season in the championship and no offence but cant spell his name proper so i'll just say Celtics left back.The celtic left back has bags of pace but his positional sense isn't the best at all, his pace has got him out me trouble on numerous times he defo needs a tom tom to know where he is on pitch.Vargas a much better option then any one else Liverpool have an interest in, and he's wont back out of a challenge, he's a fighter who would do wearing the sacred Liverpool jersey proud.Also one bit of info that is 100% true and may or may not have a knock on affect on our t transfers, a friend of a friend works for a moving company and they cleared most of his house out and its contents were going to be put on a container and shipped to Argentina, thats as Rafa famously said is a fact.Do you think him leaving city will have a knock on effect on any future targets we may be after and do you think Vargas could adapt to the prem eds i know i do.Before i get shot down cause of a friend of a friend thing all i've ever posted has been opinions not an insider or a source like some people say, i'd have nothing to gain at all except 70 pound for puttin a tenner at 6to1 for Tevez to join Boca Johnny Boy6

Forget about Hulk (crap), Aguero, Benzema etc. If we can get Wickham for 10 mill, it would be a bargin IMO. I hope these rumours are true about Wickham. He would fit into our plans for the future perfectly. He has loads of ability and loads of potentional, to get even better. He would be prepared to sit on our bench and wait for his opportunity, were big name strikers wouldn't be so patient. Would really love to get this kid, he will be a fantasic player, no matter who he signs for.

Liverpool targets:
Rush, Hansen, Barnes, Hunt
And I heard they're digging out Elisha Scott to replace Reina. I had it all on paper until that bloke Werner dropped them contracts into the swimming pool and my dog ate my diving gear

Stop with all the horse sh*t.

Jones
Izaguire
Henderson
Mata
Perroti
Marveaux
Wickham (back on loan for first year)
Gervinho

Is this realistic?
I think this would make us a top 4 squad dont you think eds?

Thanks
Awesome site {Ed001's Note - there is only Mata and Jones I would want out of those (I have never seen Marveaux play).}
