I am Adam's cat and i'd like to say Adam's agent was round the other day talking about a Liverpool bid for Adam but City turned it down because it was 5 million less from what thay were asking for... Make of it what you will.

Your Adams pussy more like...

Dear This guy

To the person who answered this post

A. We are weaqk up front, Your weak in the head,
Suarez is in the top 3 forwards in the league, Carroll is a beast, Dirk Kuyt had his best ever goal scoring season last year.

B. Stephen Gerrard has hardly featured in any of the matches since Kenny has taken over and we have been playing the most entertaining, creative, expansive football that we have seen in years.

C.Injuries happen cross that bridge when we come to it stop being so pesimistic

Im sorry but Its obvious your a Manc as you called pobably our best midfeilder of all time "Stephen", So I doubt many would care what you say -Mc

I'm clearly a Manc, after arguing the fact that our team is stronger than the original poster was making it out to be, but the fact that I made the fatal mistake of putting a ph where a v should be obviously means what I say is clearly irrelevant. Well I'm pherry sorry my Phocabulary clearly isn't quite what yours is, but while we are correcting what each other are saying you should have wrote I'm not Im it's not Its(no need for the capital in the middle of a sentance) and You're not your completly different meaning, see when one puts 2 words together we usually drop one letter and replace it with a ' so people know what one is talking about, I know I probably sound a little picy but I can tell you're a person who really cares about the tiniest little things when it comes to propper English so I thought you would appreciate the constructive criticism, also Steven Gerrard is our greatest midfielder of all time there's no probably about it, Now run along

My friend, your grammar is atrocious. Anyone who mispells Steven for Stephen when it comes to Gerrard is a joke.

We have seen him carry us so many times over the past few years that the least we can do is get his name right.

I cannot wait for him to come back. His whole career he has been managed in defensive teams and has been shining. Now he is not alone. He has quality infront, behind and on each side.

On 31st august Andre, Arsene and Harry were scrabbling for a spark, but there's already something burning on the Mersey.

The future is bright. The future is red.

i think in January more world class players willing to join LFC if we maintain our style of play and we still in top 5 in January...

1. Pace, tricky winger will be sign..

2. Another Defensive midfielder will be sign.

Dtg'lfc

***********************

Def Mid?? Whats wrong with Lucas? Still seems to get bad press for some reason. Really don't get it. I believe at this moment in time he is in the top 3 in the world in that position and top lad to boot. Shame he doesn't always get the credit he deserves.

i think the team against stoke will be

........................REINA....................
....SKRTEL..CARRAGHER..AGGER..ENRIQUE.
..........HENDERSON..LUCAS..ADAM..........
.....KUYT................................DOWNING
.........................CARROLL...................

SUBS
DONI..FLANAGHAN..COATES..SPEARING
BELLAMY..RODRIGUEZ..SUAREZ

No suarez... Explain why cos I can't think he's tired - Mc

More than likely be
reina

skrtyl carra agger enrique
lucas adam
kuyt hendo downing
suarez

subs
doni flanno coates carrol
bellamy maxi

Stoke would love us to play big Andy, with el pistolero on the bench, so we get sucked into a messy/scrappy long ball game. Suarez gives us pace that troubles all defenders & he is almost impossible to mark, we need to play our passing game & not play into stokes hands. Your thoughts on this Ed's?

Jimbob {Ed001's Note - I agree completely, they have big strong defenders, better to let Suarez give them the run around.}

Suarez has to be in the starting 11 and Skrtel will not be played at RB!

Skrtel will play at right back, they have massive forwards and good wingers, flanno will be well out his depth.

And Skrtel excelled at RB against Bolton! Alphared

Carra - Coates - Agger - Enrique

I know its unlikly but its what I want to see -Mc {Ed009's Note - my back four as well.}

I'd like us to play this formation: 3-5-2

-----------Reina-------------
--Carragher--Coates--Agger--
Henderson---Lucus------Enrique
------Downing-----Adam------
-----------Kuyt/Bellamy-------
---------------Suarez---------

We need hight at the back for their throw ins, pace at the front to hit them on the break!

If we do move stadium there are two things that need to move with us from Anfield.
The "This is Anfield" sign, and Shankly's Statue. You can take away The Legends Fortress, but his Legacy must be allowed to live on.

YNWA! (Adam)

Well I for one would want the Hillsborough Memorial to be part of any move tbh

Don't forget the gates.... People who argue that we should stay for the atmosphere remember its the fans that made anfield special -Mc

Seriously the hillsborough flames are before everything.it's those that separate us from everyone else.JFT 96

There are so many parts of Anfield that would need moving, it would be incredible. Everyone would have their own thoughts. The whole stadium is a shrine, after Hillsborough, and the outpour of emotion afterwards. It would have to be planned correctly. But, we have KK to guide us, as he was a pivotal part of all funerals and decisions. All Boot Room legends should be honoured, and would be. The right decisions would be made. Fans will be part of the process. YNWA

KK has already won the as a manager & a player numerous times
Reina has won the Euros & World Cup with Spain
Carra has won Champs League
Coates has won South American Cup with Uruguay
Agger is our most skillful defender. He is more comfortable with the ball at his feet than the vast majority of defenders in the league
Enrique has been all that we could have asked for at leftback so far & was "man of match" on his debut.
Glen Johnson isn't the England right back for nothing.
Lucas isn't consistently starting for Brazil for nothing. Especially considering the talent they have at their disposal.
Adam carried b'pool on his shoulders but got distracted in Jan for obvious reasons but hasn't put a foot wrong in a red jersey. Him getting on the score sheet against Bolton will do a world of good for his confidence.
Downing has also been excellent.
Could anybody find a better player than Suarez or Gerrard in the Premiere League? If so, name them.
Then we have a choice of either Carroll, Kuyt or Bellamy with the likes of Kelly & Henderson on the bench. Both of whom may easily bec regular starters depending on srategy etc.
The team is playing well with width on both sides & squad depth. So why is everybody so skeptical whenfans like myself think that this team is capable of winning the League. Please give realistic answers.

A. Because up front we are weak
Squarez is the only forward that can be relied upon to threaten the oppositon goal while Kuyt will run forever and give his all sometimes that is not enough
Carrol may come good but at the momenet he is very average.
We need another top striker like Falcao

B. When Gerrard is not in the midfield we have very little creative spark, as good as adams is he just does not have that touch of magic, although not a gerrard replacement Hamsik would be good

C. Although the squad is vastly improved and Kenny and DC have done wonders in such a short time we still lack strength in depth, much is expected of coates and while he may start like squarez chances are he will need time to settle.

For instance if Enrique is long term injured all we will have is Robinson, Fabio rarely plays two games in a row

People forget that Kelly has spent as long in rehabilitation as Gerrard (both six months) and yet no one is signallling Kelly's demise!

To the person who answered this post

A. We are weaqk up front, Your weak in the head,
Suarez is in the top 3 forwards in the league, Carroll is a beast, Dirk Kuyt had his best ever goal scoring season last year.

@the first post

Our defence has plenty of depth. Against Bolton Skrtel was playing as a right back. Agger can also play the left back position as he showed at the beginning of the season last year. Kelly, Flanagan, Glen Johnson and Wilson can all play on the left. The same with the RB position and the addition of Coates to the CB position. I see no problem at all.

Adam and Henderson both have enough creative spark to run our midfield. Adam, as said above, carried B'pool on his shoulders, he has the vision that can carry us, which is why KD bought him. Henderson created many goal scoring opportunities last season and I expect him to do the same over the next few years.

As for infront of the goal, I can't wait to see Carroll smashing goals everywhere. Remember Lucas? The player who was ridiculed for the first 2 seasons while with us, and the same man who got our player of the season last year? Give Carroll some time and he'll be knocking them in faster then Henry.

That is all.

RenegadeRed

A. That is why we bought Bellamy.

B. Little creative spark? Rubbish, we have Adam who can play monster passes and lots of other talented midfielders.

C. Rubbish.

Again to the 1st poster who answered the original post! Suarez not squarez! The Q is not even close to the U! Alphared

What a bunch of dreamers?

Henderson is not a creative midfield player!

Adams carried Blackpool to what Championship football?

Agger hates playing left back or so he say's

Wilson cannot play left back this has been demonstated when he has been there and looks all at sea

Kuyt is a very good player however he is not a prolific striker that's why he was sent to the right wing by Rafa

Carroll has the potential to be good however at the moment he is very average and the only time he looks a beast of a player is when he has that beard then he looks like some sort of beast however he is not a beast of a player ala Drogba, Duncan Ferguson, etc.

Its foolish to think we can win the title even John Henry thinks its not on the cards

Without a little more realism come february 2012 there will be a lot more of the moaners here saying the usually whinney things and retiring or transferring half the team.

Top 4 is realistic title winning is unrealistic

We do not have the strength in depth of Citeh, Utd, or Chavski

While Gerrard has been out Meireles was the creative spark where is Raul now?

Bellamy knees are gone he will prove a very bad signing and will only be company for Fabio and Daniel on the treatment table

Time to get real folks!

We need 3 more quality players

One a striker
One a creative midfielder
and one a versatile defender that can play any position accross the back

By February this will be clearly demonstrated

Does anybody else want a brand new stadium? It looks like a decent stadium on the mock ups, it has a bigger kop end and holds 69k, 9k more than an expanded anfield. Plus we wont have to put up with 3 seasons of ruduced capacity. Getting tickets is hard as it is. Also can the ed or someone tell me what an Uefa elite status stadium is? And what it means to the club etc

MIKEY

The mock ups are unofficial so it's very, very unlikely any new stadium would turn out like that. A new stadium would also likely be built for 60-65,000 with provisions for it to be expanded to however big the owners wished.

A UEFA Elite Stadium is a stadium that has top-class facilities, pitch, access surrounding the ground and viewing angles. Anfield is a 'four star' UEFA Elite Stadium, I believe.

As a Wolves fan, but also an admirer of the Liverpool way of playing football this has nothing at all to do with me, but Im amazed that you have resigned Bellamy after that golf club incident.
I admired at the time that you got rid pretty fast, why on earth have you had him back.

We hid his golf clubs while he signed his new contract :)

MIKEY

I know a wolves fan here in spain and he is a secret liverpool fan as well, bet theres a few of u out there, i think bellers is a good signing he had pace eye for goal and with 30mins left of a game he could open spaces and run a tired defender ragged

He plays tiddlywinks these days.....

Bellamy will prove a bad signing, Shane Long was the better alternative or Connor Wickham.

Bellamy offers little and will spend lots of time on the treatment table on a generous contract.

Bellamy's knees are gone however how many have come to say Bellamys legs are being held up by screws ala Gerrard?

Bellamy is older than Gerrd yet most here have him a longer shelf life at Liverpool than Gerrard - go figure! {Ed001's Note - how can you decide that a proven Premier League player, in Bellamy, is a worse option than Long, who did nothing in the Prem and very little in the Championship and an unproven kid? I would like to know on what ridiculous criteria you have based your assumption?}

I'd take no notice of that anti Bellamy post he obviously did not watch the Wale's game last night! where Bellamy ran his sock's off and then some! he's probably gutted as his team did'nt sign him! Alphared

Long has potential for example if you watched him against chelsea for his goal he out muscled Alex to score a good sign there are plenty of others that he adapt to the EPL

Long will score many goals this year more than bellamy

Bellamy looked liked going to Cardiff this year where were all the suitors for Bellamy the real ones not the fake made up my dogs snake knows a horse who knows a cow that said Utd were in for Bellamy type posts

The difference between then and now - Kenny Dalglish

Bellamy signs a new deal with Ping his main sponsor

Hey Ed!
Do you think Anfield could be re-developed into a 65000/70000 seater?
I'll give H&G one thing, the stadium they designed was certainly unique and something special. If we need to go to a new stadium I hope we get that one at 65000 seater than the usual boring bowl looking styles that are all the rage in the 90s.
Eitherway, move or stay our club will always be Englands blood red army :) {Ed002's Note - From what I understand 60k is the figure most likely. Unless they do away with the pitch where they could get at least another 30k seats in and a big screen.}

Why stop at 60000 - lets make it the biggest and best - revenues and sponsors will flood in

Now that would be good, i could plug my xbox in, bust out some fifa and whoop man u every day, and lots of people could watch. lol

Does anyone else think that Stevie standing around at training watching Kenny and Steve Clark at work is going to help make him a world class coach and manager one day? I just noticed in every picture of him lately, he's standing around at training just taking it all in.

Ben the Red

What Stevie Naturally brings to Management

1. He is a born Leader

2. Nobody plays the game with the same passion as Gerrard

3. Few play the game with the same determination as Gerrard

4. The EPL has not seen a more talented player than Gerrard

5. Gerrard has a never say die attitude its not over till the last whistle sounds

There is much Gerrard can learn from Kenny however Kenny does not have or did not display all the natural qualities seen in Gerrard he did not need to have these skills and even if he did have them they were never on show others in the star studed team Kenny played in had these qualities.

Will Gerrard make a good manger who knows?

Will Gerrard come back from his injury and play for 4 years or more who knows but many Gerrard supporters think he will!

Should we appreciate Gerrard the Legend playing for Liverpool Definitively?

It is not within Gerrard to play bad football just to make the team he will come back and he will be magic again it may take a few weeks or more but few real Liverpool football fans doubt that it won't happen

We live in a disposable society trying to dispose of Gerrard is silly there are few others in the world with the exception of Messi who can bring such delights to a football pitch, we should savour Gerrard while he stills plays for us anything else is folly!

I'm confused... about what this has to do with my original post.

They're supposedly grooming Carra for the coaches role

If Carra's being groomed for LFC, maybe Stevie could be a success elsewhere. We could have a whole league of managers in our squad now, the way half the managers in the premiership and championship now played under Ferguson.

Think about it logically nobody is being groomed for the coaching role! Kenny has that role and will in all probably have his contract extended, Henry is very impressed by his work

Carra can hardly be groomed while he is still playing?

Why can't we eventually have Carra & Gerrard in Management at Liverpool after all there is a love-in between the two of them

Gerrard could be Manager and Carra first team coach or Assistant Mgr.

Then if it does not work out we could bring back Kenny!

Great news to read gerrards interview today in the Liverpool echo, he's come out and rubbished all these stupid rumours that he's played his last game for the reds, says that he's fitter than ever and recent tests shows that his groin is stronger now than it was before he first felt pain in it.
He says that he hopes to play some part in the spurs game in 2 weeks time and he will be back in full training on monday. Hope this puts all the rumours to bed now eds and we can look forward to welcoming our skipper back.

03 Sep 2011 18:17:13
ed how much did liverpool get for meireles?

red fanatic {Ed009's Note - 12 million.}

12 mil would of thought kenny would have sold him for at least 14 million to 15 million. does anyone know how much we got him for off porto?

I think it was 10.6 million from Porto.

RenegadeRed

11.5 mill

11.5 million

Hi Eds,

This is just a purely curiosity question. I dont want anyone from the Turkish league at Liverpool at present but the fact their window is still open a particular question comes up.

If a turkish team wanted to sign a player from an english club, they are not financially sound/secure so can't offer millions so instead offer a player plus cash or a straight player swap, can it be accepted or will it be refused because english clubs cannot sign any other players?

Like I say, it's nothing to do with wanting someone from their league but would be interesting to know the answer.

Bet you thought you'd have a break from random questions after deadline day didn't you?

Cheers again for all the hard work,

WelshScouse {Ed009's Note - As far as I know, no more players can join teams in the Premier League, barring emergency goalkeeper loans.}

The only players (except for emergency goalkeepers) who can still sign for a premier league club are those out of contract.

03 Sep 2011 18:03:14
I haven't posted for a while now, but I have kept an eye on the activity on this site. In all honesty, I have to admit that I did not expect KK and DC to change the destiny of the club this quickly. In fact, even if KK was a hit from day 1; I had my reservations toward Comoli. However, I have to admit that I was wrong to doubt the man. In all honesty he has done a colossal job so far. It is never easy to take charge of a new situation, but when you have to live with the mistakes of your predecessors it is often untenable. Even if the job is far from done, I have to say that at this very moment I like the current squad better than any other -bar United- in the league. Yes, Chelsea and City have more talent, but are they as cohesive as we are? Also, when the time comes to attract new talent, we are more likely to attract quality players looking for more playing time. Make no mistake about it, Liverpool FC is being re-built, so is United, City have an abundance of talent which might implode at any time and Chelsea (Arsenal and Spurs)are just a mess at the moment. We might not win the league this year, but our future is far brighter than it was a year ago. Enjoy the moment, fellas!

Canadian Fan

Hi eds thanks again for your the wonderful job you guy/gals did during the transfer window, It appears the next major project is the stadium if we where to stay at anfield and build it would be very costly time consuming and inconvenient the only sensible alternative whould be to move into goodison park for a season, most fans would be against this of course not for the fact we would we save tons of cash or save two years in building time or living/playing on a building site no because they are prejudice against their own kind family friends and neighbors.my only objection would be we would be playing away from home but there again still in liverpool this will never happen why because it makes too much sense.

** LIVERPOOL (£25.5m -- £58.5m/ - £33.0m)

(What do you fellow fans make of this?)

Jack D.

I don't know where you're getting £25.5 mil from? Meireles, N'Gog and possibly Insua (undisclosed) went for money, totalling 17-19mil max. All others seemed to leave on a free or were paid off like Jova, El Zhar and Degen. I think once you add it all up we would be lucky to get back £10 mil.

Papa G

Gotta love Everton's figures:

Everton (£16.5m -- £0.0m/ +£16.5m)

£16.5m going straight to the bank, which leaves Moyes having to desperately looking for loan signings and free transfers! No wonder he's so pissed off... LOL

Whilst I like Marin IMO I don't think he is type of player that would fit in KKs plans & I'm not sure Johnson would either, would they work hard for the team? Not so sure?

Affelay all day long surely, ticks all the boxes and really quick.

Well i don't think coca cola, but i'm shure John Henry with his mega rich contacts can find an awesome company and give us the best stadium in the world... I think by his quotes lately, his thinking big.... A super stadium over 90,000 even better than Byerns impressive stadium.... With a new massive Kop that will send shock waves to opposing teams!!

On same topic he also mentioned that he specially went to Germany to see Allianz Arena.
He is a businessman he will do which ever creates most value for LFC as asset.

Red Indian

And thats a new stadium

Allianz Arena
Capacity 65,000
Construction cost 340 million

roughly the same figures we would want

Would it not be better like it has been said, to regenerate anfield to around 60,000-65,000 as it would probably save a large chunk of the above 340 million, still have the kop and it would be so much easier.
huddz red

Huddz red it would'nt be so much easier regenerating Anfield there would be alot of disruption that could last a year quite possibly more! it would affect attendence's as i could not see us playing at Goodison every other week! I'm not saying it could'nt be done but no way would it be easier! Alphared

Just been watching Sky Sports and that Liverpool hating k**b Gordon McQueen said that Kenny has spent huge amounts of money and that the expectation that comes with that will add too much pressure. That got me thinking about what Kenny's net spend roughly is. These are my calculations:
Out: Mereiles (12m) and N'Gog (4m) = £16m
Ins: Henderson (16m), Adam (7m), Downing (20m), Enrique (6m) and Coates (7m) = £56m
Leaving a net spend of £40m. Compare this to a net spend of Man U = £43m, Chelsea = £47m and Man City = £57m and it will tell you where the pressure should be.
Fabian Treezle
{Ed002's Note - There was also much spending on players leaving (Jovanovic, El Zhar, Degen etc.), final payment on Aquilani etc.}

Ed i get what you saying but thats players leaving. i think he means spending on bring players in. {Ed002's Note - Actually he was discussing net spend - you cannot calculate net spend without considering both - as he tried to do.}

Take your point Ed002 about spending on players leaving. Any idea how much that may have been? {Ed002's Note - Pleanty, but it would be guess work to quantify. Payments to players and agents will be significant.}

Just wondering how old Matty P is. What a f***in joker. If your under the age of 8 i'm sorry for that comment but man o man. He'll be looking down thinking how is this guy related to me. Dont suppose you'll take offence to this seeing you find that funny about him being cremated when i think you knew exactly what the comment about turning in his grave ment. You didn't have many uncle's visiting when you were a nipper by any chance,or a milk man that delivered a pint or 3 extra a week. Wow i'm proud that was up for 7 this morning taking my dogs out, never mind being related to one of the all time greats of football. Jonson6

You seem to be rather acerbic Jonson6, is that your age?

Matty P

It's great to see Gerrard targeting the Tottenham game for his comeback .

I seem to remember his first League start was also at White Hart Lane in a 1-2 defeat on 05/12/1999 .

Our goal was scored by Patrik Berger while one of Tottenham's goals was scored by Jamie Carragher who now has scored against us 8 times , which I believe is more than any other player in Premiership history !

Unless you know better of course .

Ritters

I think Emlyn Hughes holds that record - Im sure jonson6 will correct me if i`m wrong.

Richard Dunne has a few OG's!

I thought either shearer or henry had scored against us most in the prem.Duckula

Emlyn Hughes scored two own goals against LFC , one for Wolves ( his future employer ) and one for Bournemouth in the FA Cup .

Ron Yeats scored five , including one in the Cup-winners Cup final against Dortmund .

Oh sorry, misread the question. Doughnut. Duckula

Who thinks Matty P wont either wont post on here again today,or he'll try and dig his way out of the post about being related to Sir Matt Busby. Wow so poor that i tagged it twice,dont know if thats allowed Eds and never done it before or will do it again,but reloaded the page and did it. Any word on Ulsterpool Eds. Not seen a post up for him since the other day. Jonson6

Grow up!! it was simply jest - I am, in fact quite proud to be related to Matt Busby & I did know he played for LFC.

03 Sep 2011 12:25:37
Ed02 how convinced are you that FSG can deliver success to LFC? Compared to other owners are we in equal or better hands? I want to trust them and so far they seem to be delivering but when the Cowboys bought Torres I remember letting myself, for a short while at least, trust their motives.

Dont Buy The Sun {Ed002's Note - I think FSG will good good and responsible owners, but delivering success on the field may not be that easy. Putting the club in a sustainable position will be a significant step forward from where it has been the past couple of years or so. Last year's accounts and this years accounts will be pretty ugly so getting back in Europe is a real priority. There can be no guarantee but equally I don't think you need worry about teh owners right now.}

"Right Now" ED002 do you think in the future there will be problems as I do? {Ed002's Note - No I don't. Right now everything looks in good shape. I think money may be a little tight for a while, aside from that it looks pretty good to me.}

I think money will be quite tight and I think all those with superstar lists for each transfer window will be disapointed!

All we need now is awesome confidence....hold on, isn't that OUR job?

I don't understand why so many people on here get so hung up about the club's finances. As fans, what does it matter to us how much the club is spending/saving/paying for things? That stuff is just boring, as long as we know the club is being run in a responsible manner (which we know it is) I don't see how it matters to anyone other than the Club's accountants? For me football is something to take my mind away from money worries, not give me more!

03 Sep 2011 13:09:01
Better not join in the Andy Carroll debate or i'll be accused of shouting down posters who dont agree with me over from a certain Red. Lets just give the big Fella a chance, it was like Henderson got ripped,now you can see the confidence flowing back into him he's started to look like the player he i thought he was anyhow and we really got a top class talent with him. As good as Cleverly is at Utd i bet Henderson overtakes him in the pecking order by the time the next round of qualifier's for the England senior team comes round.'ve . Some fans, because of their price tags expect them to play like seasoned pro but they've been bought to build a dynasty. The price tags will seem irrellivevant when we've done what John Henry said that were after. multiple championships. Great news what i've just read about Gerrard, cant wait to see the best midfielder/player off his generation back to full fitness. I truly belive that with the confidence K.K and the coaching staff have instilled in the players. Obviously the owner's have been tremendous, D.C has grown and seems more humble and willing to listen as well as having an exceptional eye for talent. Think i and most of the Liverpool have really come to appreciate the job he's doing and the relationship k.k and he have struck up. All good now. Please Eds as other sporting figures get a shout out when they've won something and or reach a milestone. Anyhow congratulations on Jimmy Anderson taking his 200th 1 day wicket he's just taken for England. Best player to come play at Old Trafford since Freddy Flintoff. Jonson6

Footy Tips Now Up - STED1

03 Sep 2011 12:43:40
This is not a rumour, more of a question...

Macca has stated that the work on the redevelopment of Anfield will start in 18 months & take roughly 2 years to complete.

How will that affect attendance during that season/ season & a half? Will there be a certain level that attendances will not be allowed to drop to (financial reasons & atmosphere etc.)?

Thanks {Ed009's Note - Attendance will of course drop in that time, with sections of the ground at a time being out of use. Macca may be able to elaborate with the details of this, or another poster may be able to.}

Pros
¢ Remain on Anfield
¢ 3 stands would conform to Uefa regulations for distances, sightlines, concourse areas etc.
¢ Highest capacity and hospitality provisions on current site.

Cons
¢ Major disruption for min. 3 seasons during phased reconstruction, affecting atmosphere and revenue
¢ Compulsory purchase orders required for new Main Stand
¢ Compulsory transport infrastructure investment likely
¢ No planning precedent
¢ Potentially more expensive compared to the New Anfield Stadium
¢ No further expansion possible

so taking that in liverpool will loose revenue over 3 years? making the new stadium a better option. provided we find a naming rights partner to take half of the costs away. plus the new stadium can in theory be expanded up to the 70,000 odd mark

Steven Gerrard expects to make Liverpool return v Spurs on 18 September

The reds popularity now as a global brand means that any loss in revenue from match days will be surplanted by revenue gained from pre-season tours, merchandising etc. I agree that staying at Anfield is the best option, and a max capacity of around 65000 would be more than sufficient. We could wax lyrical about having an 80-85000 seater stadium, but remember this, AC Milan, Inter and Barcelona fail regulalry to fill their grounds, and their capacities are over 85000.

Look i know we all love Anfield and rightly so.... but i'd personally rather get a new stadium built. I know that's really tough to hear but the point is design has moved on a lot since Anfield was built.
I don't think necessarily anything over 60,000 would be necessary at the moment, but you would have the capacity to expand further when we win the 10 cl trophies in a row I conservatively estimate around 2020.

The new wembley stadium is absolutely class. You go there and you just think this is what a stadium should be like. There's loads of room and it's all designed to give as little stress to the fans as possible......people management like at terminal 5 in heathrow.

Plus there's the hospitality increases it would bring - that's how you blag the big fish sponsorship deals, plus you can offer hospitality packages to companies outside of matchdays for boardmeetings etc which we don't do to the same extent as some of our rivals.
Plus it would go some way toward the regeneration of the area itself.

I don't go to as many games as a lot of you so therefore i don't have any weight to my opinion at all, but that's what my opinion is anyway.
Either way I'll be happy that we are progressing as soon as we commit to a decision. If we stay at Anfield, quality. But I will feel a bit like we've missed a trick in the merchandising and sponsorship world which seems to be becoming more and more important in the modern game.
We need to be very careful that we don't hamstring ourselves by looking too much to our history.
When we were successful we never looked back. Every season it was on with the job, a new opportunity to shine, not wow we did well last year didn't we. Thats must have been because of the lucky changing room door we've had for years.
I just think in 50 years time Anfield will be out of date compared to our peers'. If we're ever going to move, what better time than with the king in charge? He'll transfer the Liverpool way into the new ground with him. Instill the old ways into the new institution from it's very conception.
The timing is almost perfect. We just have to stop thinking with our hearts.
And yes I am aware some of you will find that offensive so sorry.....
Duckula

Well said duckula. Totally agree. Good post.

assuming that the 25 players or so we sold/loaned out were being payed, lets say £10,000 per annum, (i know many were on a lot more, but i guess some weren't on near that), I calculate we save a minimum of £13,000,000 a year in wage bills. I know there has been rumours that we save a lot more but as a hugely underestimating number, not bad i say. {Ed002's Note - The savings on bottom line wages is much more than that but there are numerous other costs folks have chosen to ignore. The pay offs to Jovanovic, Degen, El Zhar and others. The continuing contribution to the wages of Cole, Aquilani and maybe other, the 5M euro final payment to Roma, agent fees etc..}

It's all a bit silly,you have to pay out alot of money,to save money.
Redeyedhector {Ed002's Note - The key thingis that the owners have taken the issue on board and dealt with it this summer.}

The main point is... This is something that we are very unlikely to have happen again. And next seasons wage bill will look a lot healthier, especially if we qualify for CL. Which could well lead into another summer of big rebuilding and strengthening. I just wish people would stop expecting it to happen over night... Its not like even City have built a league winning side in one window with an almost blank cheque book... these things take time to get right. Patience is a virtue. I for one am just happy to have a club to be proud of once again

Wow, just typed in this website from another post:

www.sports-stadia.co.uk/#1144793/New-Anfield-Stadium

It lets you see the 3no. options for anfield (redeveloped/expanded and new anfield). Must say the new anfield looks incredible. Would love to stay were we are and expand but it may be better to bite the bullet or financially we may be left behind the teams like city or chelsea. Something needs to get done around anfield as it looks like a post apocalyptic area with the boarded up housing etc.

Matt Busby was my Great Great cousin - the shame!!

Matty P

As I always say to my manc "mates", Sir Matt was a scouser originally, so we should get the '68 EC. The fact that SMB was a LFC player (300+ games I think) always hurts the mancs...

I can only assume its good news for January that we've only registered 19 players so far?

also, has anyone heard anything about what the Warror kits will look like, or will we not get any info until the end of the season when our contract with Addidas is up?

03 Sep 2011 10:46:18
can we just stop with the rumors that steven gerrard has played his last game for lfc ABSOLUTE SH*TE

They are all right, stevie has played his last game..... but Mr Steven Gerrard will played for a few more years. for years he has been hampered by groin issues this will now see a new man new and improved, he will be feeding our front men for a few years yet.

one other thing on my legend tour Ian Callaghan was asked who is the greatest player he has played with he said the King but he quickly added that give it a couple of more years and gerrard will be the best player to have ever played for us

Just wondering ed's whats the crack with the pl squad list thats been released saw it on sky sports site and lists jones who i thought was leaving due to family reasons? And who's manangon when he's at home is that another name of doni's cos he's not listed otherwise? Cheers fab site by the way and respect for all the hard work you guys do, and the tolerance you have for some of the repetetive questioning! Does my head in just reading it!lol Grelders {Ed001's Note - Jones originally asked to leave to be closer to his sick little boy, who lived back in the north east. He was given the option to leave on a free to join another club or just to leave the club. He has chosen to stay. And yes that is Doni.}

ed is there any player who you think could get right up there with ian callaghan on appearences?
im thinking possibly reina as hes on 313.average 45 games a season next 10 years take him upto 763 not quite 857 but close.DORSET RED {Ed001's Note - it would have to be a keeper, it must be remembered that if we are in Europe you can add quite a bit to the average games a season. If Pepe doesn't get close I will be surprised.}

Ed so do u think pepe will stay at Liverpool for a few more years then

Mickleburg {Ed009's Note - He could well end his career here, provided we get back near the top soon, which we likely will do.}

Meireles was ok for parts of last season. He can't tackle & bottles out of too many 50/50s. He obviously went on a good run for half a dozen games Jan/Feb but I remember Bruno Cheyrou doing something similar (including a winner at Chelsea) then disappearing of the face of the earth. Don't recall too many wanting him back.

Finnan was a Benitez buy not Houllier - I am still trying to work out the pointof this? Not every player a manger buys is a success? Well done Sherlock.

JRG

Carroll has played 3 games this season. 3. He scored a cracker of one in the 3rd. Before this, he scored 3 goals in 5 pre-season matches.

Doni on the other hand has played one pre-season game.

Carroll is only 22, lay off him.

Finnan was a Ged buy....

Funny thou he is not listed on the offical site as a past player.

Duberlin

Yes you are right Dubliner Finnan was a Houllier signing, I had to check. I can't believe it I could have sworn it was Benitez, guess that's what happens to your memory as you get older!

JRG

You forgot biscan in houlliers worst buys

Following on from previous point, on the flipside you also put Coates in the good buys section.
How can you justify that when he hasn't played one game?
Yet when a player such as Carroll who has struggled with injury and only a handful of opportunities you ignorantly dismiss as a bad buy?

When Carroll get's going, it's going to be incredible, and I cannot wait for it

Just wondering what the ed's are thinking about Damion Comolli these days? Seems to have matured a great deal eh! From head to toe the club has transformed in such a short space of time. Very confident about a top four finish and surely Comolli has to be applauded?

Maskell
11 {Ed001's Note - you can't argue with how he has performed so far, but it was worries over his personality that we had anyway, not his ability.}

One more thing - I think Benitez and even Hodgson (as much as it pains me) should be defended as they managed during the last few years of the H&G era when no money was available for transfers which meant we were scrapping the barrel when it come to new players, hence players like Koncheskey and Poulson and Kyriackos.

JRG

Oops I replied to the wrong post....

I am hoping the following comes off over next two transfer windows.

G. Cahill signs pre-contract in January to sign in summer.
I. Affelay signs from Barca In January (6-9 million).
A striker of the calibre of Higuain or Zarate (Jan or summer depending on injuries or form).

I'd be happy with this, Ed I think these are viable if we secured CL football don't you think?

{Ed001's Note - not in the slightest, Cahill can't sign a pre-contract with an English cub in January.}

Are pre-contracts not 1 month for clubs in the same FA as the club the player plays for, and 6 months for teams in a different FA?

Zarate is a very average player imo, I wouldn't be happy if he was to be signed

Ska-oop {Ed001's Note - correct on both count, well the first one defo correct, the second one correct in my opinion.}

To the chap who wanted some Shankly stories

Shanks and Big Jock Stein were best buddies, but Stein was quoted as saying "I take everything Shanks tells me with a pinch of salt, after all if Liverpool were THAT good, not only would they have won the European Cup by now, but the Boat Race, the Ryder Cup and for good measure the Grand National"

Shanks at the funeral of Dixie Deans - "I know this is a sad occasion, but Dixie would have been so proud to know he has got a bigger crowd than Everton ever could" hail hail Timalloy

Its because of Utd's representation in the England team that I no longer have any genuine interest in our national team. Rooney just takes the biscuit though, classless arogant so and so.

ed its summer 2012 weve secured champions league owners tell you they can afford 2 big signings who would you buy?DORSET RED {Ed001's Note - that's a good question. Tough one, but I would want a top class right winger, Alexis Sanchez if possible, and Arturo Vidal. Partly to help Sanchez settle in, partly because he is an excellent player to replace Gerrard in the future. Or Moussa Sissoko, he is just as good but I went with the Chilean to help Sanchez.}

Surely sanchez wouldnt leave barcelona though ed.DORSET RED {Ed001's Note - no, probably not, but you didn't ask for realistic answers!! I can't think of a right winger I would target instead off the top of my head.}

I give you one ED the right winger its Erricsson (Spelling) whole of europe rates him Ajax refused selling him but their will be Bidding war next year.Great player IMO.

Red indian {Ed002's Note - Christian Eriksen is very well thought of bur not a right winger I am afraid.}

Replacing Gerrard for at least 4 more years is not realistic either

If we're not going realistic...how about Messi - he's good on his day

Gio Dos Santos, much more realistic i feel.

To all the Ed's great job at running and maintaining this site. It is fun to follow this site and get all my transfer news.
It surprises me to read, how deluded some of our fans are and makes you think if they ever follow the team or even bothered watching Liverpool play. The criticism I see pointed at Andy Carroll or Lucas Lieva makes me think what game they have watched. People are getting upset at Raul Mireless leaving and it puzzles me to think how or where do they build their opinion of him and rate him so highly, not sure if people just watch clips of him on Youtube and make him out to be a great player. He is never going to be anything more than a squad player at Chelsea. People want to see Liverpool challenging for titles and still think average players will get us to the top and win us the league. If Aqualani cannot be a success at Juventus then what chance has he got in Premier League?
This is the best squad we have had for nearly 20 years and have owners who have made such a big investment in our squad. Let us all give our whole hearted support to Kenny and see good old days returning soon.
Keep up the good work Ed's and maybe you should think about creating a conspiracy section for few of our fans. Nim

Well said mate. i reckon some people just need to be moaning about one thing or another

Hi ed, just wondering if there is anything in the Adam Johnson Late Bid on Deadline day. ? thx :) {Ed002's Note - I am not sure that a bid was made, but my understanding is that there had been an enquiry that was rebuffed.}
