03 Oct 2016 23:51:57
One game at a time mate, let's not get ahead of ourselves.

04 Oct 2016 02:08:23
Lol I like it.

04 Oct 2016 04:01:50
Keep hoping for top 4. We are defensively too weak to win the league.

Unless it's another freak season like last year!

04 Oct 2016 04:49:16
Yes, I think we are contenders this year.

04 Oct 2016 05:20:44
yeah daredman i agree!

04 Oct 2016 04:49:16
Yes, I think we are contenders this year.

04 Oct 2016 05:20:44
yeah daredman i agree!

04 Oct 2016 08:47:09
Beddoerocks - please explain how we are defensively too weak? and Man City aren't then I take it?

I'm not going to say we can win the league but I think we'll be close this season especially if we continue the way we're playing.

04 Oct 2016 09:39:35
Without wanting to be negative, our ability to defend crosses and set pieces is a glaring hole in our defence. Hopefully in time this will also improve as a lot of our other play has under Klopp.

04 Oct 2016 17:22:23
If we concede 35 to 40 goals this season in addition to the lethal firepower we have up front, we can definitely win the PL. But we need to start keeping clean sheets.

03 Oct 2016 21:17:15
Hi eds,
Just seen that Liverpool are leading the race to sign Gerrard, utter rubbish I know, it's probably from the same journalist that reports on us re signing alonso every year, just thought I'd pre warn you in case some idiot jumps on here believing it

Many thanks

Henlow red.

There us not a chance Gerrard could cope with Liverpool's style of play.

03 Oct 2016 22:32:27
Half of it's just click bait, even if I saw it headlined I wouldn't click it, waste of time Journalists.

03 Oct 2016 23:04:16
What "race"? šŸ˜„.

03 Oct 2016 22:50:08
Gerrard can't cope at the top level any more. He's not fit into the style of play.

04 Oct 2016 00:47:13
WE don't want or need him. Great servant for the club but LFC have moved on with Klopp and the last thing we need is a prima donna strutting his stuff at the club and self proclaiming himself as the boss. I just do not see Klopp and Gerrard getting along at all.

04 Oct 2016 07:21:02
Let's not forgot what ed2 said. The things he wrote in his book mean a return to the prem and def Liverpool is off the cards. He'd be under immediate investigation around tapping up.

04 Oct 2016 07:51:47
He will join Celtic as player - coach.

04 Oct 2016 08:48:26
shreyanspatil that won't happen.

05 Oct 2016 01:50:51
Celtic actually wouldn't be a bad fit for Gerrard though I think he should retire and move on. I always think players should go out at their best if at all possible. As an American sports fan, I see it all too often, particularly in non contact sports. Kobe Bryant for ex. For the franchise, it's regressing and fan wish fulfillment always ends in tears.

03 Oct 2016 19:33:33
What impressed me on the weekend, was our boys ability to put a shocking first half to bed and start again.
That would have been a shocking 90 minutes a few seasons ago, credit to Klopp and the boys for turning around the performance.

Flanno hasn't played a minute at burnley . I'm know there can't be any written assurances but surely he went on loan to get games . why isn't he playing?

Believable8 Unbelievable10

03 Oct 2016 19:29:50
He played in the cup at the very start of the season, heres a quote from Dyche on Flanno from the 25 of Sept, looks like his injury troubles have followed him.

Burnley manager Sean Dyche has told Clarets Player HD that he hopes to welcome injured duo Jon Flanagan and Ashley Barnes back into the first-team fold in the near future.

ā€œ[Jon] is getting there. Heā€™s training with the group regularly now so heā€™s certainly in contention along with a number of others, ā€.

04 Oct 2016 04:04:49
Good reply Imred - don't understand the disagree votes!

03 Oct 2016 14:38:06
I'm with the majority of posters on here who are shooting down the negative brigade. Yes the first half was poor and frustrations are acceptable but there was a lot of knee jerking going on with certain players receiving unwarranted abuse. We just need to stand by our team and save your judgements till after the game, whilst trying to see the bigger picture and not lambasting players for every little mistake made.

My only concern is i feel we looked very shaky in defence once again, which despite the fact we haven't kept a league clean sheet yet, i have thought has looked much improved in the last few games, Chelsea and Hull both converting their only real chance.

The set piece goal has been a problem for us for many years and it will continue unless we learn to stop switching off until the ball is cleared. Both Borja Baston chances on another would have been punished and we were a gilt-edged chance away from losing the 3 points right at the end. Whether this is a communication issue I'm not sure but players should not be allowed to ghost in completely unmarked, in front of goal on 3 occasions.

Its great to see how our attacking play is bailing us out defensively but until these problems are fixed we will continue to concede. I personally would like to see how a Matip-Sakho partnership would fare at CB and see if we can cut out dangerous lapses in concentration. Cheers, HX.

Believable9 Unbelievable12

03 Oct 2016 15:18:14
It's not just set pieces that worry me though. Seems to be any crosses into the boxes particularly from deep. Besides the set piece baston had two other great chances from a cross. Added to that Sigurdson took out our defence with a chipped ball into the box at the start of he first and then again at the end of the game.

Hope it is something we can work on, because we have on if the best attacks in the league!

03 Oct 2016 16:28:46
Clyne and Matip were slightly too far apart which left the gaps, must be communication.

03 Oct 2016 17:35:48
When you have 3 of the back 5 having played less than 5 games or so together your bound to have some communication issues.

It's something I'm sure will grow the more game time they get as a unit.

03 Oct 2016 17:20:48
Set pieces are an issue no doubt but that last chance was a keepers ball all day long. Not having a go at Karius by any means but Migs would've been hammered for that!

04 Oct 2016 00:07:51
The negativity is frustrating, if we are to earn our place challenging for the top positions we are going to have to grind out ugly wins like we did on Saturday. We are not Barcelona, we are not going to be amazing week in week out, and even they have rubbish games every now and again.

Teams are going to fight hard against us, esp in situations like on Sat when Swansea were playing for their manager. Last time Chelsea won the league they didn't look pretty for large parts of the season, but still being able to win when playing like crap is the sign of champions. We've had an incredible start to the season, save the moaning for when we are actually in trouble.

04 Oct 2016 04:09:43
Sakho won't play in the first team unless we see several injuries.

His tweets last week have killed off any chance he had of getting back in the fold and quite frankly I think he is overrated amongst too many reds fans.

03 Oct 2016 14:30:48
I no it's early days and all ifs and buts but who do you think from the players getting the most praise so far will go on to get lfc player of the season lallana firmino coutinho mane matip. I'd say if he continues the way he has been playing it will be firmino. Cheers.

Believable6 Unbelievable10

03 Oct 2016 14:55:20
Firmino or Hendo, maybe even Lallana i don't know, we have a lot of good players on form at the moment, time will tell but yes, upto now, Firmino.

03 Oct 2016 17:13:05
So many to choose from so far.
Lallana, Henderson, Firmino, Mane, Milner, Matip and Lovren have all been excellent. Even Coutinho who's not been on all cylinders has been great.

03 Oct 2016 23:05:37
Firmino or Wijnaldum.

05 Oct 2016 01:54:48
At the moment it's James Milner. Honestly see Coutinho, Mane or Firmino winning it, in that order. It's telling that we could nominate a fair few for MVP. Klopp is building a world class squad at LFC.

Hopes and prayers for Rigobert Song.

Who clicks 'disagree' on stuff like this? Whoppers! Always wanted Song to work out for LFC but never happened, hope he recovers!

03 Oct 2016 18:19:28
Good luck Rigobert, our thoughts are with you. YNWA.

03 Oct 2016 17:13:53

03 Oct 2016 20:13:15
Definitely sad news.

03 Oct 2016 12:49:21
Hi all, I know it is a couple of weeks away but anyone else worried about the United game? Got a feeling there might be a bus or two parked and long 'passes' used to bypass midfield with a reliance on winning set pieces from which to capitalise. Or am I getting nervous about nothing and in reality we will run the socks off them and ease to a comfortable win?

Believable8 Unbelievable14

03 Oct 2016 13:17:45
If they try to park the bus we'll kill them at Anfield given Mane and Firmino's current form and the kop at full song. Their only chance is to press high like Swansea did and hope to stop us playing, and then hope Ibra scores from a set piece ;)

03 Oct 2016 14:10:55
They will park the bus because Mou`s paranoia and ego will not allow him to be adventurous. Now if they score first even in the first minute, he will park two busses just like he did last year at the Bridge before we broke it with a 3-1 win. IMO, a big game at home is great if you win but to me, it is definitely a MUST NOT lose situation. I am optimistic of a win but I just wouldn`t be able to bear another loss at home after outplaying them as we have done of recent.

03 Oct 2016 14:12:32
Yup your getting nervous for nothing.

03 Oct 2016 14:14:59
No i think we should be worried. They sat back and frustrated us last season then got a late wayne rooney winner despite us battering them. If they do the same we could have problems.

03 Oct 2016 15:19:30
I'd prefer to be playing them at old trafford where they are expected to come out and play. Mourihno will be more concerned with not losing the game rather than winning it. An early goal for us will change that ( I could see us comfortably winning if that happens) but whilst I think they are a poor team they have some very capable players, not to mentio De Gea who seems to love MOM performances against us.

03 Oct 2016 15:39:19
Don't get our hopes up. Got a bad feeling it will end in tears.

03 Oct 2016 16:01:30
I have an awful feeling they'll batter us if they create half as many chances as they did against Stoke.

03 Oct 2016 16:25:11
I think we have every reason to be apprehensive.

They carry a great aerial threat and we will need to be at our best defensively to keep Ibra out of the game.

There is no reason why this time we can't break them down, something we couldn't do last season at Anfield.

03 Oct 2016 16:36:53
Not worried at all, I'm confident the best team (LFC) will win!
Has Jose ever beaten Klopp anyway?

03 Oct 2016 16:42:06
If we are nervous about them imagine how they are feeling about us based on recent form!

03 Oct 2016 17:17:01
Not worried at all, Mourinho tried to do that against City and got found out, Conte tried to do that at the bridge and we put them to the sword and United's central midfield isn't as good defensively as Chelsea. I'm with Ron Keague on this and I think we can batter them.

03 Oct 2016 19:32:23
Only thing I'm worried about is having to watch crap international football for two weeks. I hate the international breaks.

03 Oct 2016 19:35:38
I also think we'll hammer them, it's just another game like any other, if we're as focused as we have been we'll win, no need to worry about them. Utd/ Mourinho who? we'll be even more hungry for it with it been them, god help them.

03 Oct 2016 20:02:16
I think Lee is on to something here I think there is a really good chance they could park the bus and do us one or two nil obviously I hope not but not too positive about this game.
Hope I am wrong and we do em 5-nil.

05 Oct 2016 02:00:01
If they park the bus they will lose 3-0. We will need a huge game from Matip and Henderson, as they are up against two worldies in Zlatan and Pogba. But I believe whole-heartedly we have the better team and we have the momentum and home field advantage to boot.

03 Oct 2016 12:21:13
I love reading all the negative post about out players and how porly we played the first half agaisnt the swans. No team can play at such a high tempo or carve open teams at every moment. Each team we play will have there own tactics to disrupt our play, as the Swans did. if we as suppoters want to start slagging our own players off wich Klop has signed or has kept, I suggest you ask Klop to stand down and you can gracefully take his position.

Believable5 Unbelievable12

03 Oct 2016 14:19:54
As klopp himself said. We have to expect such a challenge every game. Write nobody off. Every game is a challenge. To beat Swansea when they're desperate and need a result, to me is fantastic.

These are the type of games we'd usually lose. Klopps influence is far bigger then what people think. We win by big margins 5-1 etc and some people think that's possible constantly. Come off it, after all this is football. We'll have disappointing games to come, but us as fans need to stand up and back the team. Without us and confidence what have they got?

03 Oct 2016 16:39:08
Couldn't agree more, Bill.

I have yet to see any time put in consecutive perfect performances, ever!

Right now, all I care about is the 3 points, however we get them.

03 Oct 2016 18:26:20
People complaining clearly don't watch football. Anyone who does would know that Swansea for periods were better than man city the week before and were super unlucky to come away with no points. It was probably the worse time to play them and most sensible people would look at the positives and us being able to a) up our game after a poor first half performance and b) grind out a win despite not at our best.
Yes defensive issues remain but that's not new so why people are acting like we've suddenly been found out is strange.

03 Oct 2016 19:10:18
Spot on, EB. many on here were saying we would thump them 3/ 4-0 and even then I posted then last Friday, that we have only beaten them on their patch once in 6 tries so did not know nor understand where all the hoopla and cockiness was coming from. I bet you those slating the team (after they WON the game) where the same ones expecting a route hence, threw their toys out of the pram when it did not happen.

03 Oct 2016 22:47:44
Hamilton Red - I also predicted a 4-0 win (i underestimated a team needing a result) but never once moaned about it, we won, i'd of even been happy with a 1-0 win, i don't care about my prediction. we got the 3 points, that's what counts.

04 Oct 2016 01:50:33
I predicted 2-1, always thought would be a tough game. Swansea at home are better than their results.

03 Oct 2016 11:11:18
great 3 points on Saturday. Definitely would have thrown the points away this time last season under brendan. 1 thing I wonder is could Milner and Clyne swap sides. Milner crossing was poor at best on Saturday and countless times turned back to cross on his right. Clyne can't cross with his right so surely his end product can't get any worse! what did u think eds?

Believable2 Unbelievable15

03 Oct 2016 11:41:53
Problem you have is that Milner can cross and okay left foot cross but Clyne seems very right footed and would constantly cut inside and make it unbalanced. Milner does cut inside a lot but does go to the byline on occasions which adds another attacking threat.

03 Oct 2016 12:24:25
Milner was outstanding on the left against Leicester, hitting the byline and cutting inside. I thought Clyne did well on the right on Saturday.

03 Oct 2016 14:19:40
Clyne for me, was poor in critical defensive positions. he seems never to be able to read plays before they happen. When the first cros came in to Borja, he didn`t pinch in to disrupt his jump nor communicate with Matip to let him know Borja wwas behind him. Matip gets caught under the ball and just ball-watched until the cross arrived, Karius hesitates and the goal nearly happens. This is a recurring problem with him as he has some solid days but his problems of being a ball watcher and his inability to communicate with his fellow defenders will always be a problem. he`s not the only one tho as the rest of the backline were awful at times especially with crosses, leaving Karius who needed more protection as it is his first start in the PL on the road, exposed. This has to change.

03 Oct 2016 11:11:02
I'd like to say well done to Swansea. They were so unlucky not to get something out of that game. The fact that they're struggling doesn't make sense as they're a really good team. You can tell they're players like they're manager as they busted a gut in that game. The difference was our fitness levels are better and we were able to take advantage when they tired. Same as what happened last week when they played Man City.

Well done to our players too. We came back so well. We need to be prepared in future tho for teams who are going to try and out press us.

Really excited about this season! And about playing United (which I've got ticket for! )
YNWA.

03 Oct 2016 11:46:15
I'll swap you a lovely weekend in Australia 30deg weather beaches beers, and all I want is your ticket to anfeild, haha it's not going to happen is it, fair enough enjoy you lucky bugger.

03 Oct 2016 14:36:37
I knew the game wouldn`t be easy as we had only won there once in 6 tries and it was indeed a tough game. We didn't rise to the challenge in the first half as it seemed we were surprised they were up for it. This ilead to poor decision making and overdoing things. We rose to the occasion in the second half and then just wore them down after the equalizer so we deserve some credit for that. My main worry now is our defence that is still unable to deal with crosses and set pieces. This is a real problem as Utd score for fun from set pieces and Pogba and Ibra are lethal in the air. This has to be addressed ASAP, IMO.

03 Oct 2016 11:09:03
I don't mean to flog a dead horse here but the arguing and negativity these past few days on these pages have been disgraceful.

We have played outstandingly so far this season in every match, we haven't dropped the performance level once and the lads have made us extremely proud.

However one bad half against swansea has sent the 'fans' into meltdown. Hate to break it to you, we will not always play well. We will draw and lose and play rubbish many many many times before the end of the season. that's not because we are bad, that's because it is normal. Barcelona have had a much more dodgy start to their season than us, arguably the best team in the world, and i bet their fans are not acting as childish as this.

Okay at half time i was not expecting us to come out with a win but i still had hope, but regardless of that, that should not ever, ever mean we write off our own team and begin slagging players off. And even if we had played terrible all game and lost, that is still no excuse to slag off our team who have been playing brilliantly.

Bizarrly, however, we actually won the game, but you wouldn't know it from the infighting and negativity on here. We scraped a result from a difficult position and i am thrilled that we managed to do that because that is what we will have to do in order to get anywhere near the top 4.

If you can't watch liverpool play badly for 45 minutes and support them to get into the game, expect us to be amazing every game, and if not, resort to slagging off players, i really do question why you watch football.

Believable11 Unbelievable9

03 Oct 2016 12:33:08
This post is making me laugh as i write it but i didn't see many players get a slating on here (except Karius and one or two towards Sturridge) . Most the negativity seemed to come from posters moaning at posters who moan. Either way, bring on the next game.

03 Oct 2016 13:08:33
Wijnaldum took a lot of unwarranted abuse.

03 Oct 2016 13:30:25
And Lucas.

03 Oct 2016 14:38:11
Lucas didn`t even play. Not slating Wiji but I thought he had a poor game but he wasn`t the only one who had a poor game, IMO.

03 Oct 2016 15:40:33
lol lucas?

03 Oct 2016 17:25:15
I know Lucas didn't play but he doesn't have to, to get a beating from so called Liverpool fans.

03 Oct 2016 17:22:46
Wijnaldum wasn't great first half against Swansea, but he wasn't awful, he had a decent second half. But then Swansea worked bloody hard that first half to neutralise us. I am warming to Wijnaldum and think he's worth the benefit of the doubt.

03 Oct 2016 22:49:37
true sid.

03 Oct 2016 09:32:16
Reading some of the post has made meme re-check the score. I was right! We did win against the swans. We as liverpool supporters have to be delighted to win no matter the way we played. many a time we out played teams, missed countless of chances and ended up either drawing or loosing a game. I would take a win over a draw or loss any day. Let's enjoy the win and the moment rather then dwell on the negatives.

Believable10 Unbelievable5

03 Oct 2016 10:27:25
Understand people getting frustrated with the team not playing well, but one thing to be positive so far is haven't seen us not play well due to lack of effort this season! Every team will have off days or come against a team that got their tactics better on the day, but credit to the manager and players for turning it around. One thing that really impresssed me about the game was it showed how much fitter our team was then swanseas! From what I've seen we have one of the fittest and most athletic teams in the league, which is a great advantage to have.

Also like to give credit to Klopp and his signings as all (except grujic but is one for the future) have improved the side. Wijanldum gives a lot of energy to the midfield, always on option to pass to and helps create space and chances. Karius may need time to adapt but his ability on the ball greatly improves are ability to retain posession and start attacks from the back.

03 Oct 2016 11:07:49
I was personally made up with the result, probably more pleased with this win than the hull win, possibly more than the other wins as well, you have not seen Liverpool win too many of these types of games in the recent past.
Shows the team has a never say die attitude now and Klopp can turn around these types of games and grind out a result, rather than lose or draw after a team takes an early lead and parks up.
These types of wins inspire confidence in me that this team is capable of something special.

03 Oct 2016 14:40:29
Spot on, Mikey. Altho, our defensive display was very poor. I know Klopp knows that and unlike tBR, he doesn`t get too comfortable regardless of the result hence, I know he will work on this especially with the fact that I think we have dealt with crosses and set-pieces quite well this season.

03 Oct 2016 17:26:50
Was at the game last season when we lost and that was awful this was the complete opposite. I honestly don't see what there is to complain about here and I would happily criticise if there was reason, that was a tough game, awful conditions and we came back and not only won but bossed the game out and could have had three or four. You have to win games like that if you want to win the league.

03 Oct 2016 19:13:35
Spot on, Mr Dennis. The game was a banana skin hence, I`m chuffed for the three points as we came out unscathed. This was an important game to win considering the fixtures on deck for the other teams most of whom, dropped points. BTW, Joe Allen, Glen Johnson, Crouchie, YOU BEAUTIES!

03 Oct 2016 08:55:38
Wow, reading through these pages anyone would have thought we lost. This type of game last season we would have rolled over tamely and gone home with our tails between our legs.

So because we won a few games all of a sudden we should be beating teams like are entitled to just roll them over. I tell you this and hope the moaners take heed, you will have plenty more games to moan about over the season because this is football.

I celebrate this victory as it should be, grateful we won and happy to see our players fighting for our club to try and achieve success for all of us. Instead they have to put up with more abuse for winning. Ed02 was right we are the worse fans in the world.

Believable8 Unbelievable4

{Ed002's Note - The last couple of days have been awful with Liverpool supporters trashing the players (poor old Karius) and have been trolling other pages - they simply don't get this "banter" thing. Absolutely hopeless.}

03 Oct 2016 09:21:53
Absolutely mate - you said exactly what a lot of people here are thinking. It's quite embarrassing really isn't it? but unfortunately that's always going to be the case. I don't know how the eds have any hair left! . if they do? - nah but seriously spot on post and couldn't agree more.

03 Oct 2016 09:33:01
Those people are not real fans. Just naysayers who think that playing football is as simple as pushing a few buttons on a playstation joypad.
I've been going around very happy the last couple of days reflecting on that win, it really showed that the team can pick it up when not on-song and overcome different teams with different tactics. Swansea did really well first half and worked their socks off. But I think Liverpool earned their bit of luck (Swansea's missed chances) and it was exactly the kind of game we used to lose limply to end a good run of form with a kerflump.

03 Oct 2016 09:46:46
Did none Of The moaners see how hard Swansea pushed Man City the week before, they played well in both matches and are unlucky to not have at least 2 points from the games.
Great result, team dug deep, move on.

03 Oct 2016 10:25:27
Some belter cranks on here don't worry bout them. when your beating teams 5-1 an the only thing they can say is we never kept a clean sheet? Haha on a lighter note I got 6-1 for us at 1 nil down to not score 1st half but to win gamešŸ‘Œ Someone Wanna tell me off for betting on us when we're getting beatšŸ¤”šŸ».

03 Oct 2016 12:03:35
Is it moaning season? bloody hell, all I see is posts moaning and moaning about other moaners so I've joined the club now but let's move on. ed i'm sure karius is fine when he looks at his paycheck, I think we'd all happily be in his shoes.

I thing the Negative Nellies on here had thought we would just walk in there vs a team desperate for its life and drop 4 on them w/ o even breaking a sweat. These are people who have either never played the game, don`t know a thing about how football actually works, or are just moaners who moan because many others moaned hence, with no clarity as to why they are moaning. As for blaming Karius, I bet you the same people slating him were the same people slating Mingo and wanted Karius to start yet they slate him after one game and want him gone. Pathetic, really.

Its full of trolling mancs here ed2 but you fail to recognise that. Blame lfc fans for everything as usual.

{Ed001's Note - oh give it a rest, the Liverpool fans on here are embarrassing at times, as you are proving right now. It is regulars that are slagging off the players and giving them abuse, not trolling Mancs. You should change your name clearly, your posts are the epitome of a troll.}

03 Oct 2016 18:17:59
Oh dear, i think i will take a break for a while until pmt season ends, its a little too intense for me i'm afraid. Although waro divides opinion he has been spot on the last few days and it seems to be getting worse.

Eds i know you would never shut this site down because you love what you do, but has it ever crossed your mind?

{Ed001's Note - I have been tempted many times mate.}

03 Oct 2016 17:30:43
What's there to be negative about? We won a game that we lost badly last year and won it comfortably in the end. All I know is coming back off holiday to us in fourth and looking competitive is brilliant. We just need to keep it up!

03 Oct 2016 19:38:40
Some people are NEVER happy about anything. It`s just the way it is, I`m afraid.

04 Oct 2016 02:17:37
'always right' should be given the boot. How you put up with it eds I'll never know.

03 Oct 2016 08:29:51
Eds, Not that I feel we need him and it would be more of a nostalgia romantic type return but when stevies contract runs out would he be likely to return to Liverpool in any capacity be it playing or otherwise?

Believable0 Unbelievable5

{Ed002's Note - Not if he wants a future career in the game. It would make zero sense for him. He certainly cannot play that Premier League level and they are not going to be stupid enough to give him a coaching role at this stage - it would be disruptive. Perhaps he could look for a player-manager or player coach role in the lower leagues or Scotland.}

03 Oct 2016 09:19:40
It would make zero sense for the club. Didn't Ed002 highlight the unhelpful influence he had, pressurising some of the foreign players into a culture they were uncomfortable with? Let him prove himself as a coach elsewhere - if that is what he wants.

03 Oct 2016 09:25:20
I wouldn't want him back in any area just yet, we don't need any distractions. I can imagine he'd come back and act the big I am. We don't need that.

03 Oct 2016 10:10:07
I think he should see if Brendan will have him on a player-coach basis at Celtic.

{Ed002's Note - Why? Is there a reason he must be with someone he knows. I appreciate he is a very, very long way from being the shiniest rock in the box but he really should be man enough now to go out in to the big wide world alone.}

03 Oct 2016 11:09:26
Thanks ed!

03 Oct 2016 14:45:59
SG should stay exactly where he is as nolstalgia is part of history and should be left there.

03 Oct 2016 12:49:44
if he did come back in any sort of playing capacity to Liverpool (be it a player or player/ coach), aren't he and the club likely to get prosecuted for the tapping up comments he made in his latest book?

I would be absolutely dead set against Stevie coming back to the club in any capacity until such a point that he had proven he was up to the job (whatever it may be) on ability alone, rather than nostalgia.

Klopp is building something special here, and no amount of rose tinted specs should be allowed to disrupt it.

Morning red men,

Good weekend! Liverpool win, Utd, city and Everton all slip up.

Honourable mention to wee joe Allen who showed great character at the weekend.

Now for the loan update

Awoniyi started as the lone striker as NEC played away to Roda jc.
However he was replaced in the 60th minute and within minutes his replacement had the desired impact putting NEC in front.
The score finished 1-0 and NEC are out of the drop zone.

Jon Flanagan watched on from the bench as Burnley lost to arsenal in the last second thanks to a blind linesman.
Flanagan is yet to start a prem game which is not a good sign for the season ahead.

Ryan Kent started on the right wing and scored a 7 according to opts stats.
He was replaced in the 82nd minute as Barnsley lost 2-1 to Leeds.

Allan came on in the 73rd minute as hearths Berlin got back to winning ways with a 2-0 win over Hamburg.
Up next is Dortmund.

Bogdan was able to keep his first clean sheet of the season as Wigan drew 0-0 with Brentford.
Opta gave him a 6.7 so I guess he wasn't made to work for the clean sheet.

Morecombes game with Notts county was postponed so jack Dunn didn't play this weekend.

Fulton and chesterfield lost 1-0 to Bradford. That's no win in 3 now and no clean sheet in 4.

Wisdom returned to the bench but was an unused sub as Salzburg lost 1-0. Salzburg had 2 players sent off in this match.

Lloyd jones missed out injured as Swindon drew 1-1 with Shrewsbury.

Sam hart played the full 90 at left back and was booked as port vale lost 2-0

Markovic scored the opener and all was looking great for sporting as they raced into a 3-0 lead.
However they fell apart in the final 15 as the game finished 3-3

And that's your lot red men, now for the international break. yawn.

Thank's mate.

Hi.
Thanks for the update.
Regarding Flanno.
I thought all our players were loaned to clubs on the agreement that they were guaranteed ato play In a high percentage of games for their loan clubs.

Surely Flanno would be better off playing regularly in our u23s than keeping Burnlys bench warrm.?

Or maybe this is the battle he needs to win at Burnley to show he may have a future back at us?

Opinions welcome.

{Ed002's Note - Clubs may agree to use a player regularly but it won't be contracted and if he is not training or playing well you cannot expect a manager to pick him on a Saturday.}

Couldn't watch the game yesterday as my internet was broken - from what I understand we were poor first half but improved markedly in the 2nd and probably just about deserved the win. For me, after the Burnley game, I will take 2-1 grinding wins any day of the week. We are not going to smoke teams every single time we play - one of our recent faults, as a team, has been an inability to grind out results, . let's hope we get into a habit of winning these tough games. Been a very bright start to the season overall, hopefully all our key players return from international duty unscathed.
