{Ed002's Note - It is nothing to do with Torres or Bale.}

It is to do with Torres and Bale though isn't it? Benchmarking is a perfectly relevant method of forming valuations.

{Ed002's Note - No, it is simply you trying to persuade yourself for some irrational reason. How do you factor in the behavioural issues - Joey Barton?}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

If Madrid want Suarez knowing that Liverpool want top price for him, then his behaviour will have nothing to do with it. If a team want him, after all his public issues then they have decided the player's ability is greater than the problems and is still the best option for the buying club, otherwise they wouldn't be interested in the player in the first place, because of the problems. Liverpool don't have to manage a soft sell or under value sale because a team ''want'' to buy a player who's has anger issues or had culture clashes.

I'm not typing that I think Suarez is worth £60+ million, I just don't think Liverpool have to sell him with a consideration that there needs to be a reduction in the price because of past transgressions. Imo

Agree0 Disagree0

Spot on Ollieston!
We apparently don't want to sell so we don't reduce his price to accommodate possible problems for his next employer. He should therefore be valued in comparison to players of a similar calibre that have most recently been sold. I don't see what is irrational about that Ed002 it's really quite simple.
In all probability we will see soon enough who is right because he's going to leave very soon isn't he {Ed002's Note - The point being is that none of this impacts his price. You simply don't understand.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Playing devil's advocate here ed, but if a team are interested in a player surely they must be aware of the baggage that comes along with him. Isn't that the buyer's risk? Why would that make an impact on the valuation? Shouldn't it just push interest away from the player? {Ed002's Note - None of it impacts his price - the price of Bale nor anything else.}

Agree0 Disagree0

If Suarez keeps scoring, and can stay out of trouble, we will likely receive offers over 50m, which is what the club wants. Meanwhile, the club has time to find a replacement.

And Suarez wants out, so all parties should be happy.

In that case, what Bale went for, or whether Suarez signed a new contract or not, will all be irrelevant.

By January. Suarez would be leading the Charts with 15+ goals. Mark my words.

Agree0 Disagree0

Joey Barton is a good example. He is a very good player. Did very well on loan at Marseille in a good level of European football. On ability alone he must be valued at 10-15 mill for a comparable player in his position. No one will pay that because of his behaviour and temperament. In fact if QPR can't sell him his value is nothing and I would imagine his cost to the club both in employment costs and potential and existing sponsors etc being at wary of involvement due to the chance of bad press etc are very high.
We have a player who wants to leave and costs us a lot in every way. Whilst he does the business on the pitch it can be tolerated. If we keep turning down bids or demanding a fee that does not attract bids and his performance suffers or he does another crazy thing, our bargaining position weakens and his transfer fee will drop. Teams like Madrid have their pick of world class players, they won't lose sleep if they can't get Suarez for a fee that is acceptable. My point is each transfer is individual to the player, the 2 or more clubs discussing the transfer, the point in time and the availability of other players in the market and should not be viewed in relation to any other transfer past or present. Valuation is one thing, the transfer fee completed and in the bank is the bottom line because keeping him in the longer term is not an option.

Agree0 Disagree0

The only price that matters is the one that Liverpool would be prepared to accept for Suarez.A couple of seasons of trouble free, one hundred percent football from Luis, and no injury's, could see him become the worlds most expensive footballer.The speculation will continue! {Ed002's Note - As the Orange Sunshine kicks in.}

I was the one who started lol sorry ed002 but all I was trying to say is lfc should get 50mil plus for suarez because madrid will be desprate and lfc are in a very gud position plus suarez seems happy enough to stay until summer
from what I can see I think lfc have said to him if madrid want him in summer he can go

Abbas lfc

I've always found Ed002's comments on LS as extreme as the fans that see him as an £80M player.

When we think of him we should look to similar talents, and there aren't many around at the moment to compare with.

However in recent memory there is one very similar player, god hate me for naming him here. Cantona. Go ask Utd fans their opinions on him and they won't linger on the most disgusting act any modern footballer has committed by attacking a fan. They'll hail his genius.

We need to recognise Luis in the same way, flawed genius that is never going to be a clean cut role model.

Having opinions on players that haven't performed (Gerrard) Tel, isn't criticizing. I back and support the club fully, always try to pull positives from even defeats. that's like saying i'm criticizing Johnson because I don't think he is good enough, which is true when he gets my full backing every game. If he does something positive, he will get a mention.

And guys, just because Gerrard played ONE yes ONE brilliant pass for the 1st goal, doesn't mean he has played well this season. {Ed030's Note - Gerrard has had an average season so far, The only problem is people are expecting him to be the player he was 4 or 5 years ago and obviously he is not capable of doing that every single game, That is what is disappointing people. }

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I think the prob is that Gerarrd still thinks he can be that player and is clearly no longer that. He needs to settle down and dictate th game from deep like he did last season when he was IMO, outstanding.He should accept his new role as the brain or on-field coach of the team and not the spearhead as before.

Agree0 Disagree0

The problem is that he is dropping too deep and dragging the midfield back which in turn is pushing the backline further back. As such we are, generally speaking, inviting teams onto us. He can't press with the intensity he once could and to play a high pressing game the whole midfield and backline needs to be in sync, see Bayern against City or us at home in Champs League against Madrid in 2008 (I think).

Rodgers has said cissoko fit for palace Johnson fit for our next game after the int brake, and coutinho should be fit for our home game againts west brom end of October. Which is great because we play arsenal the following week! Things are looking up injury wise, let's get out if int brake with no injurys!

Been having a look at the FA London Underground map. The central line has been reserved for goalscorers. The funny thing is, El Nino doesn't make the line! No Ali Dia, Abel Xavier and Bebe on the map, which is a shame {Ed002's Note - For those interested it is here: http://tinyurl.com/oop7use - I have no idea if they paid someone to do this or not.}

Torres is on the map. On what is the 'Overground line' in reality, in between Frank Lampard Jr and Pepe Reina

Hey eds and fellow reds I have read a few posts saying gerrard should be a substitute impact player because he no longer has the legs and looks tired well I've noticed he has packed on the pounds he needs to lose weight he's a footballer and I get that he had to eat a certain amount of calories but he is too heavy just want to get the ed's views and anybody elses vievs! {Ed002's Note - The club is aware that their 1947 Foden charabang needs the floor strengthening under Stevie's seat.}

Any chance of us looking at Vidal, Marchisio, or Pogba (all form Juventus) as central midfield targets? All have contracts that expire in 2016 (2 years from January), all are coming into the prime of their careers (Pogba's especially attractive as he's under 21), and all are absolute class. Plus they can all play CDM, CM, or CAM, which gives us options where we need it (particularly CDM). I know it's a long shot but have we even shown the slightest interest? Cheers again Eds! {Ed002's Note - There has been no interest from Liverpool.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

We can certainly look but we certainly won't get!

Agree0 Disagree0

Contracts start in the summer not in January turn of fifa will ya haha

Pogba would be an excellent signing, a very gifted player with presence that we lack at times {Ed002's Note - Don't hold your breath.}

Continuing on what will doubtless be months of Suarez speculation, we could do a lot worse than swapping for Mata and Lukaku.

I know there would be lots of hurdles to overcome not least in attracting the players and the club selling to a potentially close rival (I'm an optimist) but for me is take it if offered. Chelsea are known to want a world class striker and that is a short list, we happen to have one who wants out. Mata isn't getting enough game time and his knows why they loaned out Lukaku again. {Ed002's Note - That won't be happening.}

if we carry on with the form of the season so far winning 4, drawing 1, loosing 1, every 6 games. we will end up with roughly 81-82 points.

which in the current league and form of the bigger teams could be title talk, or atleast second place. 82 points has been good enough for second place in 3 of the last 4 seasons. roughly 70 points have been good enough for top 4 over last four seasons to.

with no league cup and no europe we can do it. less chance of picking up injurys plus having a full weeks brake in between games may be huge for us this year.

Good post .

Agree0 Disagree0

Little bit early to be talking about a push for the title, however it does highlight our excellent run of results so far and I would say we are still far from our best yet.

Agree0 Disagree0

We haven't played Arsenal, City, Spurs or Chelsea yet.

Let's wait and see where we are at Christmas.

yeah I don't like to be negative but like ken is saying r fixtures from 14th dec to jan look tough away to spurs, city and chelsea with a home game I think to cardiff thrown in I know all teams have tough sequences of games but that's a very tough christmas schedule.anything more than 7 points out of this I would be very happy.

Agree0 Disagree0

I understand what your saying but if u look at our team compared to last year I'm not surprised atall we couldn't beat any of the top teams, I mean we had only one fit striker in Suarez we had a 17yr old sterling on the left for 30+ games and a poor downing on the right. Look at us now, by those fixtures we will have a front 3 of coutinho Suarez sturridge. IMO the top teams will be looking at there fixtures looking to see when they playing Liverpool. We have a much better chance this year of beating them. And it's been proved already if u play well anybody can beat anyone

Agree0 Disagree0

Dont think they are looking towards playing us as well. especially if we start banging in more goals in the next weeks

Agree0 Disagree0

I love the optimism :0) But I agree with Ken, let's see how we sit come Christmas.
