Use our rumours form to send us liverpool transfer rumours.

Can't see us above 6th, 5th a possibility. Arsenal though beat today got 5 Outve next 6 easieR games. Spurs got opposite 5 tough games and Chavskis a bit of both, though disharmony won't help them yould imagine. But a good start in our quest for European football would be beating Spurs. Think Rogerscshould have Bale Man marked. And with Spurs having tough game today and Thursday, with our break, yould like to think we will come out all guns blazing. Two S's back upfront and don't see why we can't beat them

Higher position than last year and improvement in the team which there is I'm happy. MATTYLFC

Liverpool will finish mid table ha ha

Steve MCFC

I think the only player in our team that could mark Bale successfully is Enrique. He matches Bale with his speed and strength. Johnson will not cope with him. In any case, Coutinho can't play RM as he doesn't provide any defensive cover. Think that Henderson, Lucas should play deep with gerrard in front.

04 Mar 2013 08:54:09
Take you all night to think of that one eh Steve?

At least City did well this year, 15 points off top, out of Europe at the first stage again, and unlikely to win anything with a team that the Arab unlimited funds put together.

03 Mar 2013 21:25:05
Well with arsenal losing and us closing the gap by 3points the place for 5th is on not as important as 4th but still would be a good season and good to huild on with rodgers at the helm next season.

With a new CB and some better bench players dare I say it it could be our year lol!

And it begins.

Just to clarify I meant for next season

I'm not sure what the summer will bring personally, I hope very little with the way of outbound players and quality not quantity in.

Reina bar a few glaring errors has been better this year than last. Yes those errors are irreversible, but I have seen signs of returning form in recent months with stronger performances against Arsenal and Wigan.

The scapegoats in Henderson, Enrique, Shevley, Borini and Allen etc all have long term futures at the club. They're strong squad members and if you look at the league it's obvious that we can't just rely on our youth to patch up the holes.

Kelly should return fitter and stronger with any luck. He'll start to play centre half in my view, with Wisdom as extra cover at RB and CB. Ryan McLaughlin should make the step soon, as further understudy to GJ. I think a left back will be scouted, but we're likely to look at a CB first to replace the retiring Carra and departing Skrtel, who seems to have alienated himself from our side. Coates will surely also depart, with one other CB, young with pace likely to sign. The two CB's should be covered from defensive player sales.

Midfield looks fairly set to me, unless a longer term replacement for Gerrard is signed. Lucas may need cover, but is hope it'll be a low key signing. A seasoned player with experience of bigger matches, whose needed to provide some grit and determination to our precise play.

Up top hopefully stays very similar. Sturridge and Coutinho look quality additions, with Borini hopefully getting back to full fitness and in the goals sooner rather than later. Suso would benefit from a loan to a good side and Sterling a rest and break from the limelight. Downing has proved his end product, work rate and months and all round game recently. The signs are likely that he'll remain going in to next year, but if a suitable offer arrives we may feel it's time to cash in for a younger, more consistant alternative.

Assaidi is likely to depart for a small fee, with the money being reinvested into Ince most probably! If Tom joins he will hopefully add goals and inject some creativity to our wings, also increase the competition and strength from the bench. We most probably need another attacker of some form, as we're lacking a little in squad numbers given Borini and Sturridge injury concerns. A striker would be the best addition, if Ince joins. If not then perhaps we can look to Yesil and Ibe, but it may be too soon for both especially with Yesil's long term injury. AC's transfer fee, no matter what it ends up being will most likely cover this.

If the unthinkable happens and Luis departs, then we'll really have a mission to reinvest the money wisely considering we're unlikely to have champions league football. There are some quality players, likely to be on the move this year Higuain, David Villa, Sanchez, half of Bayerns front line. But persuading any of those without monster wages would be a challenge. let's hope it's not a challenger we have to face next year.

Papa G

Not sure what Assaidi had done wrong other than have to go to ACN. He'll get a chance sooner or later. Looks better than Sterling right now but that's no surprise. Agree with a lot of what you say otherwise.

I wonder where we would be now if we swapped our summer signings for our January ones. Not slating Allen borini or assadi but it was goals we were missing which sturridge and coutinio (spelling) have gave us. I mean look at west brom that's the perfect example of what our team is like we can out play teams and can't score. Now it looks like we can! Just pleaaaasee suarez stay for 1 more season : (

London red

I see your point but there's also the view that Sturridge and Coutinho have arrived at just the right time for Them?
and us.

03 Mar 2013 21:12:21
its looking more clear now that skrtel is on his way out!
but the way the rumours and the gossip is going about it looks like ben arfa and Honda are the main men for the summer.
sign these two men then we can start talking champions league.
still think Liverpool should go in for one or two defender and maybe another striker.

03 Mar 2013 21:10:52
I think things are looking pretty good at the moment; obviously they could be better but after a terrible start we're doing well.

Probably what's more pleasing is the two players we've bought in January looklike they are slotting in well with the team already; i'm hoping that BR has learnt some things about the team and how they gel to pick the right players - not knocking Allen, Borini or Assaldi and I hope they prove to be good acquistions as well.

Not sure if it's Lucas's return to full fitness etc. but we seam to be playing v well and beating teams we couldn't previously; although even some odd draws or defeats we've sometimes been the better team for over 75% of the game.

As already stated its possible Reina and Skrtel will move in the summer - hopefully we're get adequate replacements and a little extra to spend. Hopefully Suarez will stay, he's certainly happy enough.

I think Shelvey needs to go on loan for a year - right out the bag at u ;o) - he's used to playing 1st team football and I think he will only make it at Liverpool if he's playing week in week out; he has class but needs to put that into experience.

I'm hoping we get at least europa league so the youngsters can get some more experience (would like Ibe to see some 1st team action as well - looks class).

Enjoying these big wins and the superb attacking football as much as the next man currently.

However.

Does anyone else remember their schoolboy football days and the first time they tried to pass the ball across their own goalmouth, being crucified by the remainder of their team?

Surely this is drummed into every single player from the outset: do not fanny around with the ball in or around your own penalty area.

And if we needed evidence for why this is so, Liverpool have given us a stack of object lessons this season.

Am I going mad, or is this simply a bad tactical policy costing us silly goals against the more competent attacking teams we're playing?

;0)

I don't remember ever passing at school:0)

We've done that in all the game when we've kept clean sheets too. Get used to it. If we have the ball they don't. Of course there'll be mistakes but pressing us high lengthens the pitch - that's why we do it. Two good passes take out 3 pressing players and the odds of scoring are increased. I think our goal tally suggests there's something in this theory??

Great post by Kidder: People should understand how many goals are conceded by just punting the ball straight back to the opposition.

Not convinced. I find it buttock-clenchingly stressful, unfortunately.

Ahh well.

;0)

03 Mar 2013 22:39:18
I think we should go for hangeland and brunt they're both going out of contract

Are you crazy way past it

It's quality not quantity we need

Oops Villa supporter on the wrong page

03 Mar 2013 22:36:31
Hope reports today of Shelvey to Stoke and a per contract K. Honda deal being sorted are true

Why would Shelvey want to join a rugby team? Surely he could find a club that actually plays football?

03 Mar 2013 20:46:53
Now the new boys (Sturridge and Coutinho) have hit the ground running how many of those who were throwing their toys out of the pram because we apparently missed out on Dempsey and others. I really think the patient and long term approach to signings shown by FSG will prove successful in the long term.
hopefully a couple more shrewd buys this summer will complete the jigsaw

I totally agree my friend. There were a lot of fan's"very upset" shall we say that we lost out on Dempsey but I think we got away with that one. BR need's to be given time but such a pity to many fan's want success like us all I might add now but it won't happen now. It may even take the gut's of 2-3 season's to get it bang on but I really hope am wrong. We are going the right way but we need to calm down if a result doesn't go our way and it WILL happen untill we do click. So back Buck&the team, don't look to hang him for a stupid result. Support him, back him cause it WILL come good. I promise.

Ed do you mind telling me what you think off De Vrij? I know that there is a player profile but it's not on there so If you could tell me a little about him? No worries if not

Cheers {Ed001's Note - I only know he is a young defender, sorry.}

He's a captian of Feyenord at 21 years of age, that's enough in my book.

How old was Reo-Coker when he was captain of West Ham?

Was reo coker 1st choice cb for his nation?

03 Mar 2013 18:06:54
Well Eds, am I right in saying Lucas misses the home game against spurs next with having 5 yellows?

Also Coutinho. what a little gem he is!

Walk on!

Mikey LFC {Ed001's Note - no, it is 10 games until the next ban now.}

03 Mar 2013 17:36:20
Ed what do you think of Joe Allen as a player? I've seen glimpses of the good and the bad side. Just wondering do you see him as a player that will be playing a pivotal role in midfield for years to come or do you have a different opinion? Thanks Ed.
GingaNinja. {Ed001's Note - I think he will be a very good midfielder, though he is going to need the right players alongside him. I do expect him to be a long term fixture in our midfield.}

I don't think Allen influences the game enough. Texxeria will overtake him next season probably along with suso.

Ed001 I totally agree bout Allen. I can see him do really well with us as I do with Hendo. I think Henderson is a class player but people asked far to much of him from day one. Just one last thing Ed001, Borini has had the worst luck of a player ever. I just wish people would get off his back and give him a chance.

Most of you folks posting crap about williams better than sktrel know nothing about football. Skrtel is 10times the player he is you can argue that he has lost form but don't start saying shi*t. what you don't know is nobody cares about the errors and mistakes and goals he has caused at swansea but if he we actually sign him then you would know the kind of crappy defender he truly his. agger reina johnson and enrigue have all cost us goals.

I agree. Why Williams that guy never plays more than one game in a row

I think Williams is better than Skertel.
I think Williams is more of a leader than Skertel. Agger and Skertel look good on paper but I don't think either 1 of them are good at communicating with each other like carragher does when he is playing.
I also don't like the fact that as soon as he is not in the team he starts moaning and bitching about it instead of doing what Downing, Allen and Enrique have done which is try their hardest to win their place back.
For that reason I think Shelvey may be sold. He moaned about not playing and then when he did play against west brom he did not grasp the nettle. The only issue I have with Williams is his age (29) and the price if we were to try and sign him. 10 million plus is a lot for a 29 yr old with no resale value.

03 Mar 2013 19:36:46
Are new away kit next season is green & white with a goalie jersey of black colour.
Our 2nd away kit ( euro kit), is looking like its goining to yellow but this not confirmed as yet.

03 Mar 2013 19:27:13
Honda, christian eriksen and stefan vrij will all arrive in the summer.

I don't think we'll get Eriksen, I especially don't think we'd try and sign both Eriksen and Honda as they both play through the middle.

Eriksen to spurs!

Honda can play anywhere across the middle and up front.

Jonesred.

No surprise really. supposed to have a good engine!

03 Mar 2013 19:25:45
Brendan Rodgers is targeting quality rather than quantity this summer. The manager is targeting 3players a centre half, winger and another playmaker.

Just my opinions but Tom Ince seems likely to be the winger /attacker we will try and sign, Rodgers made mention of maybe going back for him when the window reopens, in the same interview he explained that we wouldn't sign him in January.

I don't know what defender/s we will sign, there is a lot of noise about De Vrij (spelling) but I think he's got a lot of suitors and has a good option to stay for another season as captain. I hope Rodgers signs some solid players with good potential.

BCDI.

Rodgers got it badly wrong in the summer but in January he seems to have signed two absolute gems.

Is any one thing Johnson is a Liablity. I always supported him as a Liverpool Player. He definately improved in defensive part of the game this season. But, his attacking part of the game still vurnerable. I always seen him losing possesion in final third by taking on Players or taking a heavy touch to put the ball out when he can easily pass or cross to a player. If he sort out this he can be our Dani Alves. I think he can be a world class full back if his final product improves
Indian Red

It's his lack of concentration that let's him down I find. Other than that a good player, not great though.

MIKEY

Did you watch the game yesterday?
Johnson set up Suarez's third goal with a great run, he squeezed passed three players and gave an inch perfect pass for Suarez to slot home with the outside of his foot going between Al Habsi's legs. 4-0, nuts!

The major part of yesterday's success was on the left flank with Enrique and Coutinho being too much for Wigan's defence and from the start till about 60 mins when Coutinho went off after giving a top notch performance. That's when Johnson started pushing up and created the assist for King Luis.

I like Johnson, when he has the opportunities and flexibility (when someone tracks back when he moves forward) he will try his best to terrorize, it's hard for full backs pending who's playing in front of them. He's pretty good at going forward, a lot of people wanted to see him play on the right wing because for so long he looked like he'd be more successful than Downing, i'm sure some people still do. :)

03 Mar 2013 21:50:26
I don't even find his concentration bad, it just frustrates me when he gets into great positions and fails to deliver a decent ball into the box. It seems like he gets into 6 or 7 good positions and maybe creates 1 or 2 chances.

What an absolutely stupid post, you've obviously been thinking long and hard over something negative to say.
We want our players to be inventive, have flair, take people on in the final 3rd. Johnson beat a Wigan player to the ball burst between 2 defenders and played a perfect pass into Suarez for his hat trick. But you would sooner concentrate on the negative. Of course there'll be times when it doesn't come off.
Coutinho 2 assists yesterday were brilliant but did you notice his flick on the left edge of the penalty area that didn't come off but it was still absolutey brilliant and would have put Gerrard in on the edge of the box with just the keeper to beat.
You would obviously tell him to cut out the fancy flicks:- (
I want Johnson, Enrique, Coutinho and Downing to continue taking people on with little flicks and one/two's, backheels around the box.
all part of getting in to score goals.
Liverpools 2nd and 4th goals yesterday were top quality and very difficult for any team to defend against and came about through taking people on.

Talking absolute crap jonno has been one of our best consistent players for a long time. Proper good modern day full back and a big threat going forward

04 Mar 2013 08:43:35
If that was aimed at me, it didn't take to long to write.

Yes i'm aware it doesn't always come off, but there are so many times neither he nor the ball make it beyond the full back, releasing other teams on the counter then he's out of position!

He spends as much time attacking as many wingers do, and averages between 2-4 goals a season!

Baines makes it look easy. If you want to look at a great full backs stats I suggest you look at his.

I like the boy, but sometimes he's just wasteful.

Baines

Baines takes all the free kicks and all the penalties and is very left footed. Johnson can play right and left back and pitch in the attack and also score a screamer from time to time

I think some supporters still don't fully understand the role of a modern day full back.
The script is this, our full backs provide width and attacking intent.
They are covered when they go forward by the holding midfielders in the case of getting caught upfield.

They might be covered by the holding midfielder, but then he's out of position too.
He's a good player, he's versitile and has a good attitude, i'm not slagging him off. He just frustrates me!

Bernard to Liverpool 12m

03 Mar 2013 20:05:54

03 Mar 2013 17:22:22
GK -?
CB De Vrij, Lovren, Pearce
AM Ince, Di Santo
Would I be right in saying at this moment these are our targets for the summer?

Lmao who are we reading? Pretty sure that's who they are targeting!

Doesn't pearce already play for Reading

03 Mar 2013 17:04:09
I hope Liverpool fans are know seeing the bigger picture of what Rodgers is trying to do. It was a great team performance and great result last night yet again. We have already scored more than last season. This is a work in progress. Coutihno looks a very good player. Our last six victories have been 4-0, 3-0, 3-0, 5-0, 5-0, 4-0. I think this is great looking into the future. In Brendon I trust. I believe all Liverpool fans need to start getting behind him, cause good times are coming.

Scouse 1892

It was great team performances last year too and we won a trophy

Good point; 24-0 in our last 6 league wins is definitely a consistent sign of progress?

Hope you are right

But we beat Zenit 3-1

Zenit was not a league game.
Our last 6 league wins are 24-0

03 Mar 2013 16:54:05
Brendan Rodgers and AVB both learned under Jose Mourinho which is well documented but why do both managers play more attractive football than the special one?
Scouse_Pride

They learnt management from him, but have their own ideas

Never copy the best, instead take good points from them, then improvise. copying can make u just as good, but not any better I suppose.

Don't know why people are disagreeing with what Kaizer is saying, he's dead right. How can you be better than the best just by copying them?

Hi Eds,
Centrebacks, who do you expect to be leaving and who is being looked at, because we are being linked with many centrebacks at present, just hoping you could briefly clear up the facts from the myths.
Cheers Wez {Ed052's Note - De Vrij and the Romanian - the name beats me; we have interest in both. Skrtel will probably go}

Anyone know the name of the romanian thanks {Ed002's Note - Florin Gardos.}

Thanks ed

That Rumanian will cost a couple of bob. "Florin" couple of bob:-)

Anyone seen much of these guys. Youtube'd um. Nowt special

Haha Kidmillions. You should be on the stage, sweeping it ha.

Does anybody see any apperent weak points of this Tottenham side. They look very good.

I can. Having to defend against our front 3 next week.

Front 4 hopefully! We're gunna need a fit sturridge to best them

They have a tough game on Thursday, hopefully that may play a part in the game
Jonny 71

Man mark Bale!

They won't come to Anfield and play such an high line. they will counter attack. We will outscore them.

03 Mar 2013 16:21:18
Hey eds, I have a question about if we make europe. I am not saying we are going to make europa league or champions league but if we do would that matter on how much we spend this summer. OR is it if we make or don't make europe that either way the cost of the players we sell will see how much money we spend?
Thanks eds {Ed002's Note - I don't suppose any thought has gone in to it just yet.}

03 Mar 2013 16:02:58
special praise for Reina last night, yes we scored 4, but Wigan had their chances too last night, and it wasnt bad chances IMO. but Reina stopped them all. imagine if the score was 3-3 or 2-3 half time, Wigan would still be fighting hard to win, but it was 0-3 and we scored the 4th in 2nd half. that pretty much puts Wigan to damage reduction.

great team work yesterday. no longer a one man team. don't go too far ahead, take one game at a time, and we can end this season on a high.

Agreed Reina had a strong game, still think he's moving on in the summer which could potentially benefit both the player and the club. Wish him the best in the future.

03 Mar 2013 15:51:30
I think that we need to put our trust in BR. Give him the funds that he needs and let him make the changes that he feels are required. In saying that, I hope the rumours of selling Henderson are false as I feel he has been very good this season and will only get better. Its a squad game after all and with Hendo, Lucas, Allen and Gerrard all capable of playing in the centre we are pretty well covered. An established centre half must be a priority whilst the likes of skrtel, shelvey, Carroll, spearing, coates and wilson should be moved on if possible. Guys like Sakho, Ogbonna and Hummels would all be great options for partnerning Agger.

03 Mar 2013 14:38:36
Eds,
Is it true that Liverpool is looking to push pre-contract deal for Keisuke Honda so that he can sign him for free in the summer? If it so, i'm really glad because he and Countinho can be our midfield force next season.

Thanks.

If arsenal are bought out by a middle eastern group or whoever, why would they turn what is a good business model (probably one of the best in Europe) and start chucking money about man city style?
They wouldn't. It would probably be more or less business as usual.
So all the doom mongers can relax a little I think.

MIKEY

Its not successful ist MIKEY?, when is the last time they won anything. At the end of the day its a football club with some sort of history and need to be winning trophies. Its very possible for a football business to spend loads of money and remain successful, its all down to what commercial deals they can strike. Arsenal have a global name as big as ours (Yes they have), and any ownership can capitalise on this, add to this a modern big stadium that can host international games, concerts etc to increase revenue -- (not to mention the 130m existing funds) .
I am not sure if any middle eastern group will buy it though, they have very rich people on the board already and I would guess if push come to shove one of them will go solo and buy the rest of the shares or majority at least.

As for the doom mongers amongst us, when will we stop worrying about what other clubs are doing and concern our selves with what we do.

Roy

I said the business model is successful not the team mate.
Arsenals lack of trophies has very little to do with it.

MIKEY

MIKEY, I understand you said the business model mate, but its a football business and a successful business model need to deliver end product. In football and for a club like arsenal the end product is success on the pitch. A big part of their failure to keep their star players (Cesc, RVP) and the likes is due to the rigid wage structure. And as soon as they lost the big stars, they could n't attract anyone at that higher level and they are falling down like a stone. This year I really can't see them finishing top 4.

Roy

Arsenal just don't make the money united do Roy. And Chelsea and man city have thrown silly money about for a good few years now. That's the major reason the team are not winning anything. The business model is sound though. Not many football teams have cash reserves these days. I do agree in that they should try and keep hold of players longer to remain competitive but they still got got prices for most of the ones who have left.
Arsenal always seem to sell at the right time.
Liverpool don't. (Torres being the exception)

MIKEY

MIKEY,

The quotes from the group looking to buy have said they plan on a massive investment in the club and have promised big spending on players. These "new owners" (if it happens) won't be concerned about the club turning a profit, they make plenty of money from their current professions/positions. They would only care about winning and putting the best team on the pitch. If bought by this new group Arsenal will be just like Man City and PSG. Its a fact.

04 Mar 2013 09:09:08
If Arsenal re-invested the money when they sell someone, they would be unstoppable.

The business model is a great one. If they weren't so stingy, the great players they've had might have stayed.

Song, Fabregas, Van Persie, Toure, Adebayor and Clichy were relativley unknown when he signed them.

03 Mar 2013 13:58:33
Looking at last seasons positioning of 8th I think improvement would be finishing in the top 6th. This should be seen as progression being made. Our aim should be to get 60 points, which would be higher than the last 2 seasons.
Next season we need to kick on again and challenge for top 4.

Great result yesterday, must admit didn't see that coming and to be honest didn't think we played that well, defence is still aworry as wigan had 3 clear cut chances to score.

Courtinho looks a fantastic player, has got pace, skill, good ball control and above all good vision, it;s what we have needed but also we still require more players of his ability, would love to see us sign Honda.

Would still like us to get rid of Borini, Henderson, Shelvey, Downing, Coates, Flanagan, Wisdom, Sterling, Agger, Pacheo

alan50

You want us to get rid of Henderson, Sterling and Agger? As well as Borini, Wisdom and Shelvey who will still improve. are you sniffing glue mate!?!

I agree Alan Partridge. He's sniffing something but he ain't sniffing reality.

Alan Partridge, if you think Shelvey will make it at LFC, then I suggest it's you that's sniffing glue

alan50

03 Mar 2013 16:55:17
Agger? Sterling? Wisdom? Hendo? Your having a laugh man! How the hell would we replace that many players, as well as the players that are actually likely to leave?

Alan50,

Whatever is your opinion about players like Agger, henderson etc. which I completely disagree with to say we need to get rid of under 20s such as Wisdom and Sterling after their first taste of premiership football demonstrates that your knowledge of football is very very limited indeed.

The fact that everybody is disagreeing with you should highlight the fact that what you just posted is complete and utter nonsense.

I guess any result this afternoon won't be a bad one for us. Maybe an Arsenal win would be best? {Ed052's Note - Arsenal have an easy run in though. So we need them to drop points desperately}

A draw surely the best for us. redman matt {Ed052's Note - Probably, yes}

Thats the great thing about Arsenal though, you can count on them to drop points against teams in the bottom half.

Two points emerged on the way home from Wigan yesterday. Firstly, Skrtel is not injured, which won't come as a surprise to anyone I suppose.

Secondly, Rodgers is strongly considering a move for Canadian born Jonathan de Guzman, currently a Villareal player on loan at Swansea, formerly at Feyenoord.

Where did these points emerge from? Because as of Friday night, Skrtel was injured and only involved in very light training so if he wasn't by Saturday afternoon, it would be something of a miraculous return to fitness

Great performance by the lads. I hope we don't get ahead of ourselves though and find the consistency with the most critical part of the season coming up. Just can't get enough of Luis Suarez. The lad is a gem and I hope he stays with us for many years to come. Well done to Coutinho, looking like a good buy and most importantly Reina who I thought was immense and kept us in the game and let the attackers do their bit. Overall a great showing.

There's an interesting post below about possible new super rich owners being attracted to the PL at Arsenal.
I have a worry that West Ham, when they get in the new Olympic stadium, might attract foreign investment. I think that having the stadium sorted plays a key role in attracting investors to a club.

I expect Rodgers to be looking at a left footer for the right wing role. the type of player has to be a great "technician" (as Rodgers would say).

There are not that many out there that are under 26, there is obviously Ince but is he is not really a great techinician with great vision and is more of an inside forward.

N. Gaitan of Benfica or J. Rodriguez of Porto would fit the bill, Ed - would LFC have a chance if they were interested? {Ed052's Note - Not realistically, no}

You know we don't actually play any wingers in the current system, right?

And anyone that is brought in to play that right side inside forward slot simply *has* to be solid defensively as well as offering an attacking option. Must have a seriously good engine and work ethic too. IMO, that role will be harder to fill than most on this team.

03 Mar 2013 12:15:23
Hope we do sign keisuke Honda. the guy is quality, great vision and technique. Honda in the same team as suarez, coutinho, Gerrard, Lucas and sturridge wow!.

I'd be over the moon if we did sign him but he won't be coming on a free in the summer, Russian league ends in winter I think so if we want him in summer we'll have to get the cheque book out.

If we are going to let skrtel go maybe cska would be interested as part of the Honda deal, bit of a long shot I know as there is 4 parties to consider but nice if it were to happen.

03 Mar 2013 12:03:48
I prey we can sort our defence out next season, and cut out the silly mistakes that have cost us this season. We are definitely improving, and the arrival of sturridge and coutinho have added a new dimension to the team. I have to also reserve special praise for pepe reina, I have been critical of him recently, but yesterday's performance was top class. can't end this post without mentioning Luis suarez, the guy is pure class, and it will be a travesty if he doesn't win player of year.

Second most clean sheets in the league, sigh, all we need to do is keep scoreing our chances and we will keep winning the games

LS7 > FT9

Once again we have one of the most lethal forwards on the planet. We shouldn't resign ourselves to losing him, you can see we are building a team around him and he's starting to get the service he requires. If we can carry this momentum then we can beat anyone.

Can't wait for Tottenham, if we can keep Bale quiet then they won't do anything, he carries that team on his shoulders.

First team to have 500 shots this season, racked up a huge goal deficit, now all we need to do is kill the giants which is completely within our grasp.

Things are looking good lads, keep the faith.

Must be the bale lovers pressing disagree mate. They are usually too thick to back up why bale is so great though so wouldn't expect much in return.
I feel we have a great chance against spurs right now. Bale is on top form but so is Suarez. But as long as we go in with a back 4 off Johnson, carra, agger and Enrique and if Lucas is fully fit and firing then we should be able to contain him and whatever else they can throw at us.
It will be close and a tough game but I fancy our chances.

As I gave the Agree button a nice firm press, I am at a bit of a loss to explain the number of Disagrees.

Red Owl

Cheers Mikey and Red Owl, I'm assuming it's the Bitters who stalk this site with their passive aggressive use of the Disagree button!

I genuinely think we can do Tottenham, even though Bale is currently world class, I think we have the capacity to contain him, at which point they have no other options. If Suarez gets contained we still have Gerrard, Coutinho, Sturridge et all, I really don't think they have such a vast array of scoring options.

Fingers crossed eh boys, I know we'll go into it fighting anyway!

Mag in peace. I posted on our site that the way to deal with Bale is to put a 'spare' defender on to him with instructions to stay right in his face wherever he roams, to tackle him before he sets off on one of his runs and to wind him up. It takes discipline, and makes it 10-a-side, but is the only viable method. Of course, Pardew didn't take any notice. We lost. Bale scored two. Good luck.

03 Mar 2013 11:55:53
Decent performance yesterday but am I alone in thinking our defence doesn't inspire confidence?
I've been banging on for years about our need for a Hammann-type DM to protect the back-four and I'm often shouted down by the Lucas fan-club.
Yesterday Lucas Leiva continued to frustrate me. in his defence he's not a natural Defensive Midfielder even though that's been a role thrust upon him. he's a CM/AM!
Since his return he's reverted back to the player many fans derided but because he's rightfully earned a lot of praise over the last couple of years he's being afforded some leeway.
Personally, I'll repeat that I think Daniel Agger would make an excellent Defensive Midfielder. though I'm certain I'll be shot down.
As for Centre-Halfs. Carragher, Kelly, Wisdom, Coates and Skrtel can do jobs for now but I'm sure some quality will have to be acquired come the Summer.
I'm not Victor Meldrew and will finish on a positive note. Coutinho looks top-drawer, Downing has impressed, Gerro's got a new lease of life, Reina might be over his sulks, Johnson and Enrique played well yesterday and the lad Suarez isn't too shabby either.
I think Brendan Rodgers might be realising the value of experience over too much youth and I support his decision to ration the use of Sterling etc.
With 10 games left and only the League to think about. well, who knows?
ANFIELDPETE

I would love to see Wisdom at Centre Back next season. He's quick, strong, good header of the ball and can play a bit. Him and Agger, with one other to come in (presuming Coates and / or Marty Skrtel move on). Kelly to cover RB.
The Juicer

Disagree, Lucas played very well yesterday, the amount of interceptions and tackles he made was insane - he picked up a yellow card and gave away a few free kicks but such is the nature of the defensive midfield position, he played well and to suggest he is trading on the coat tails of past performances is a joke.
Daniel Agger is a top class centre back - how many will we need to buy if we move him to the DM position? Nothing to suggest that Agger would be a good DM except that he is technically adept on the ball, not enough to justify a position change.
Rodgers is playing players who are in form and who are fighting for the shirt. Downing wasn't doing that earlier in the season and he was dropped. He has worked hard and started to show real fight and desire - as a result he rightfully been starting games, nothing to do with experience over youth. The players who perform the best should start, at the moment Downing is playing much better than Sterling. If it was the other way round Sterling would be in the team. The idea that lack of experience has been the problem is fallacy - individual poor performances have let us down. Sterling was rightfully ahead of Downing in the team in November and he is rightfully behind Downing now - all of this based purely on performance, not age or experience.

SMc

Agger is great in his position as a ball playing centre back, he's good going forward now and again.
But I have to disagree, I don't think he will ever make a good defencive midfielder.

MIKEY

03 Mar 2013 14:29:55
Not only do we need Agger more in defence that midfield where we have options aplenty, but he won't play the role as good as a natural CDM.
Even if Lucas were to be replaced, Agger wouldn't get a look in there!

Gerro is a new one!

For me summer ins and outs would be.

Ins.

A. Sanchez 12-18 million.
C. Eriksen 12-20 million (long shot of the list).
S. De Vrij 7-10 million.
K. Honda 5-10 million.
L. Biglia 10-12 million (if Henderson leaves).

Outs.

J. Spearing. 3-4 million.
A. Carrol. 10-15 million.
J. Carragher. retired.
J. Henderson. 8-10 million (if Biglia signs).
S. Downing. 10-13 million. (playing well lately but I think we will cash in on his good form).

Couldn't pick an outright keeper but I'd go for one of the many young German keepers out there.

Jonesred

You honestly think soearing is worth 3-4 mil? And I bet before yesterdays honda storys you were not even thinking about him!

Sanchez 12-18million? Come on lad be realistic.

True haven't thought of Honda in ages. Due to us not showing interest last time, but with his contracting getting lesser and lesser why wouldn't he become an option again?

Business at the end of day and if quality player becomes more attainable due to that then why not.

Jonesred

Sanchez and eriksson for 12m each?
Double that for both.

MIKEY

No chance all our signings would be new to the PL. I'm sure Brendan has talked about the chances of signing a number 10 so I wouldn't be surprised if we went or Eriksen. That's the role no-one has nailed this season- we've used Henderson, Shelvey & Suso there mainly and none of them are anywhere near as good as Eriksen so he would be a starter each week and not necessarily at other big clubs. If we got the Carroll money in quick this is a deal that could be done. Then it's replace the defenders as they are sold. {Ed002's Note - So sell Coutinho and buy Eriksen, is that what you are suggesting?}

03 Mar 2013 11:33:58
Since november 1, only utd, city and spurs have taken more PL points than Liverpool. Therefore I believe we are a top 4 team. If we strengthen in the summer, we can aim for more than just top 4. We already have some magnificent young players. Our time is coming

03 Mar 2013 11:30:23
Isn't it ironic that Downing was bought to provide crosses for Carroll, which he didn't really do, and then Coutinho, in his second start, provides a perfect cross which Downing himself heads in.

Hounsred

Just nice to see midfield players getting into the box / position to score.

03 Mar 2013 11:28:11
i think a lot of defenders we play against have downing sussed when he comes in from the right he shoots all the time i'm not saying he had a bad game yesterday but instead of shooting try looking to pass and see what happens mick dublin

Downing is the most predictable player in the league. He's doing OK at that moment for us, and is providing solid cover to the midfield and his FB. But, he doesn't really offer anything much to the attack. Happy enough with him for the time being whilst we start to shore up the defense but hope to replace him with someone of quality eventually.

But surely fans realise we have been way more consistent with Downing in the team since Nov/Dec. He works hard and provides good balance. I think he's played his way into BRs long-term plans.

03 Mar 2013 10:48:48
With all the rumors going around about the Middle Eastern buy out of Arsenal I have to say I hope it doesn't happen for 2 reasons.

1. Does anyone really want another super rich club in the EPL? aren't Man City and Chelsea enough? I have always respected Arsenal and how they've done buisness and hope they stay that way.

2. Top 4 next year will be hard enough. You can likely put Man U and Man City in the top 4 which leaves 2 spots to be fought over by LFC, Chelsea, Spurs, and Arsenal. I think Liverpool can overcome Spurs and the current Arsenal team to take at least 4th and maybe challenge for higher depending on what Chelsea and Man City do this summer. However, if Wenger leaves and Arsenal make a sizeable summer investment it will be that much harder.

And before anyone jumps to that conclusion. No, I don't want a mega rich buyer to take over LFC. Unless you mean in FIFA. haha

Even if Arsenal get bought out, it will be 1 or 2 years before you see an effect on their current performance level. Change takes time. LFC will be a much stronger and bette team next season and will continue to grow as long as we support them and give them time.

Liverpool won't overcome spurs, you had one good game against Wigan and your all of a sudden a top 4 side, the table never lies.

03 Mar 2013 10:48:03
Went to the game yesterday, lovin' the new Coutinho song! the lad's a f***in' little gem. Tired eventually, but not surprised always tracking back, keen to impress. People posting about Sturridge Suarez & Coutinho, don't forget Sterling and if we add Ince we'll be quids in for next 10 years!. got to keep hold of Luis! Fear for Suso with the form of the little brazilian, but we need a large squad and competition.
All together now. Ole ole ole ole. Cou tini ho ho ho!

Great game from the reds yesterday. I never saw that coming tbh with you. I thought we might struggle a bit there, with Sturridge out. So another MoTD to be calmly enjoyed. Two things with MoTD though -
1. the opening title sequences, one little bit of Stevie Gerrard at the end. Is that it? tv wants to sort that out.
2. I originally watched the game via ESPN stream, and all I could hear was the Liverpool fans singing (great shout out for Rafael Benitez as well!). Get the re-run on MoTD and hardly a peep. It's the same at Anfield as well. I know the atmosphere there can be quiet at times but it's everytime on the tv that it sounds like ten thousand away fans are in. I'm getting seriously mistrustful of their coverage of us these days. Don't they like the Maggie Thatcher songs or something?

ps Many thanks to Waro for the info the other day, and the other posters stuff. Great rumour of Joe Hart as well!

The Juicer

Yeah I agree the coverage was rank on the BBC, could barely hear the Liverpool fans yet I. like yourself, watched on the ESPN stream and they were bouncing. Does anyone know whether or not TV stations have an ability to control the volume of the crowd i. e. can they flick a switch and lower or higher it? As Stamford Bridge sounded really loud (which it never is against weaker teams) yet our fans were barely audible on tv despite them clearly being in excellent voice during the game.

Also BBC's were pathetic, made it look like Wigan and ourselves had an almost equal amount of chances - we dominated them, but you would never of guessed by watching MOTD.

03 Mar 2013 11:09:20
Can not understand people knocking Skrtel! He has done nothing wrong but work hard, and he showed loyalty to the club.

I don't think he should be sold simply because we need a squad of decent players so if we sold him we would need 2 new defenders (Carra replacement)

If we bring in a Carra replacement and we have him as a backup i'd be happy.

Am I in a minority?

03 Mar 2013 12:05:38
I felt the same until I saw his comments. He mentions how he's been first choice for almost 3 years and now he's out of the side he's bitching about it!

If he was prepared to stay and fight for his place, then yeah i'd keep him not a doubt.

Even with J. C retiring, he still wouldn't commit his future (in the interview).

Maybe I read too much into it, but after seeing the likes of Downing, Henderson and Enrique really knuckle down and fight for their places, Srktels attitude doesn't sit right with me.

If our former player of the season can't be bothered to get himself back into the team on merit, he can go.

Besides, at the very least he should command at least £10 million, maybe more if one of the Russian clubs wants him.

Having said all this, i'd love to see him knuckle down and fight for his place, I just can't see it happening!

He will regain his form if given the chance. no need to sell him. just need to replace Carra And coates.

Skrtyl is over rated. Always has been. He has had one good season perhap 18 months. He is a lump. We need a complete re shuffle in the defence.
For next Season i'd like to see Kelly promoted to CB instead of RB, and buy to new CB's. Selling Coates (5-6m) and Skrtyl (10-14m). For 15m we could get a mobile, ball play CB and a younger up and coming CB.

Kelly is the fute imo, and in 2-3 years so will Wisdom, any thoughts

He's made mistakes, he's not mobile enough for the system and isn't that great with the ball at his feet. I suspect Brendan knows there a clubs willing to pay 12-13m for Skrtel and to get his targets this summer he needs some bankers in terms of players he can sell. Carroll and Skrtel alone would bring in c30m which would get us three targets.

Coutinho looks like a steal so far, fantastic inter-play with Suarez. He's got that creative spark around the box, wee going to be deadly with Coutinho, Suarez and Sturridge as our front three and Gerrard as the supply.

Also, would like to point out, RVP best striker in the league, your having a laugh. Suarez has scored more goals, and he's got stronger players delivering the ball. Fair enough we have a few quality players but I don't think anyone would argue that RVP has had better support, I think Sturridge and Coutinho both complement Suarez' game and will help. If we can keep Suarez over the summer then we should be deadly next year, Rodgers Rodgers make him stay!

Can anybody clarify what Rafa songs were sung at the game yesterday, I couldn't make them out?

Anfield Andy

Coutinho could just be that one player we have been short of being a mean-machine.

Rodgers to add 4 players in the Summer:

CB: De Vrij
CDM: Diakite (lazio)
RW: Ince
RW: Turan

I'd say De Vrij, Williams, Gardos, Ince & Eriksen.

Replacing Carragher, Skrtel, Coates, Spearing, Carroll, Pacheco & Wilson.

Possible loans for Sterling, Robinson, Suso and Yesil.

CB: De Vrij
CDM: Would promote Coady for that role.
RW: Griezman
CAM: Eriksen

What result suits us best today? I'm thinking a draw would be best and a fiery encounter with a couple of red cards for good measure.
We definitely don't want Spurs to win because I think there due for a dip in form and if we beat them, they can be caught but do we really want Arsenal to win? we don't want too big a gap to them.
I think we'll now get minimum 6th place to qualify for Europa. (providing utd, city or chelsea win the fa cup)

03 Mar 2013 10:20:07
Have to hope for a draw, otherwise they both pull further away. Even if we don't finish 4th, finishing 3 or 4 points off would be better than 9/10.

I would go for a spurs win today if you look at there next few games if they don't drop a load of points from them they deserve to be in the top 4 as most of there games are big teams I think we don't want arsenal gaining speed for a finish

03 Mar 2013 09:07:20
I would just like to say, why would Suarez want to go to Bayern? He came from Ajax, and IMHO they're about the same level when it comes to how big of a club they're in Europe. The EPL is a whole different level, most everyone interested in football follows the EPL and maybe La Liga, not so much the Bundesliga. I would say Liverpool is up there with the likes of Barcelona, Real Madrid, Man. Utd. , AC Milan maybe Inter and Juventus that are the all time biggest clubs in the world. Chelsea and Man. City just became bigger since their rich owners came in to the picture. I would say Arsenal has more followers around the world than these newly successful clubs. Players who go to play in PSG, Bayern are mercenaries in my view. I think Suarez is not like them, he's coming from Uruguay where they have a local team called Liverpool, he knows, understands and mostly values the greatness of LFC as a football club, at least that's what I believe. That's why we follow this great club, I want to believe that he's a fan too!

HK

Don't think Luis will go to Bayern. Language barrier for one thing.
But your wrong about Bayern Munich there one of the biggest clubsides on the planet.

Bayern are without a doubt one of the biggest clubs in the world! Up there with Real Madrid, Barca, United and Liverpool etc. Steeped in history, wealthy and certainly able to attract top players as well as top managers , ant

To put some things in perspective on Munich, in Germany no one person can own out right a football club. They are hardly playing on a level pitch compared to other clubs in Europe. I think this ownership policy is a goog thing.

Bayern are a huge club, rich in tradition, 4 european cups, just one behind ourselves. also munich is one of the nicest cities in the world.
on suarez, I don't think he will leave, world cup around the corner, uruguay fancy themselves for the cup, suarez will stay untill then as he's playing best football of his life here, then will assess situtation in may 2014. if no cl football by then he will go imo. look at players like sanchez of barca, modric of r madrid, de gea of man u, balotelli when at man city to mension a few. doesn't always work out, so why risk it in world cup year.
that two 4 nils and a 5 nil for us this season, can't remember us playing this brand of football for years. things are moving on after a few dark years.

I do agree with your post as Liverpool are one of the biggest clubs in the world, regardless of current form. I just can't see the move happening, however that is a bit disrespectful to the bayern munich and the bundesliga

Also quick shout out to the away fans that travelled yesterday. They were immense again following on from the European match. We have to do the same next week and make Anfield a fortess of noise for the visit of Spurs.

The boys are really starting to feed of it and most of all I think our number 7 is revelling in it. Its a strong reason for him possibly staying I think. Still. We will have to see what happens.

Ummmm Bayern are massive. And the Bunderleiga is fast becoming a major league again. With the issue's in Spain Germany maybe the league to challenge the EPL very soon.
Dortmand, Shalke, B Munich, HSV. Really poor club eh.

wd be interested in jhear what others think of our chances of 4th place- the way I see it, we can't afford to look backwards at swansea and west brom, and our first priority is closing in and overtaking everton. everton shd lose at city and we have a must win game against spurs. Not sure who looks more certain to drop points then-spurs or arsenal

Agree, get past Everton, cement minimum 6th place which should get us Europa League qualification providing either utd, city or chelsea stay in the top 4 and win the Fa Cup.
Then keep winning and who knows anything above 6th would a tremendous late effort for this season.

Just aim to win every game and let the chips fall where they may.

Maintaining performance and being consistent is the most important thing. We need to finish the season very strong and this will stand to us next year wherever we finish in the table.

Davey Sulls

To the op everton are at home to city and also have a great record against them so don't be surprised if they turn city over

I've seen some great players at our Club over the years.
The wonderful guile and vision of Dalglish, the predatory instincts of Robbie Fowler, Ian Rush, Roger Hunt and Fernando Torres. The sublime skill of John Barnes and Peter Beardsley. The workrate and never say die attitude of Kevin Keegan.
When you put all these attributes together?
You get "Luis Suarez" (just one thing he can't head a ball as good as Ian St John:-))
Please believe me, Luis Suarez is some player.

And, in terms of a striker, yet to hit his peak millions.

(4-0 to Liverpool)

Cheers

I said at half time. "This going to end up 4-0"

Jeewizz il put a fiver on it :) Thanks mystic cozinoz

After the WBA and Zenit results, I posted saying that BR was at a point where he must win 2/3 next games just to prove he has got it in him to get a winning mentality for the sake of winning. Well 3/3 is excellent and also how it was achieved was good as well. I truly hope that he has moved up to the next level. The next challenge is to finish with say 7/10 wins. Good league placings will be probably just out of reach. The team is now showing consistent finishing which was a weakness last year and early this season. The squad is showing some depth. Countinho running with the ball at defence was refreshing as it mixes up the short passing with more goal threat. The summer signings will be key, I personally hope for one big name plus a few more quality signings. So no use harping on about the lack of success this season, write it off. let's just hope we are now at the start of a golden era.

BR Was at no point what so ever where he must win 2/3. You have no idea what point he's at, and neither does anyone that uses this site. BR knows

Interesting stats:

We have already scored 6 more goals than we did the whole of last season. That's definitely a bit of progress.

Gerrard is 1 league goal short of Michael Owen's total as a Red. Owen could have been an absolute legend and probably be part of that amazing CL win in 2005. Too bad for him. Respect for Stevie though. Yet anothet incredible achievement. He could well be pushing 200 goals by the time he retires. Simply brilliant, esp when there were so many blinding screamers. Class of his own.

Luis Suarez is an absolute genius, not just because of his goals although they certainly help, but puts his attitude and the way he goes about his work that's just joy to watch. Week in week out he's at it, never giving the opposition a breather for a minute. Yes Bale might do a tasty thing or two but, score 5 in 2 games or something but he'snowhere near the Level Suarez is right now on a consistent basis. Bale is good at what he does but anyone who thinks he's breathing the same air as Luis is in my opinion platting piss. I've not enjoyed watching a player as much as him in a long time, maybe, just maybe his fellow pros might do the right thing and give him their vote for the PFA player of the year, of not it'll be a travesty.
His saving grace might be receiving the football writers version, but with suspect characters like Bluto Samuels voting I wouldn't bet on that one either. Anyhow all know we've got the main man here, the Real McCoy when it comes to the ultimate foot gunslinger.
El Pistoleiro simply the best, simply a legend. RVP is on a level with the likes of Bale, Falcao, Cavani and all the other top echelon players. Luis is breathing the same air as Ronaldo and Messi, a big statement but their the only two players who would have been capable of emulating what Luis has done for us this season and current form he's as close to those two as anyone has been in a while.

Yes I agree that Suarez is miles better than bale but we all actually do breathe the same same air pal

Sigh no he is not, take the tinted glasses off he is one level below messi and ronaldo, he isn't miles better than falcao, iniesta, rvp, cavani he's on the same level your deluded

Messi is level 1, Ronaldo level 2, Suarez level 3, Falcao, RVP level 4, Cavani level 5.

How long does it take to get to level 1 is this fifa you guys are talking about?

Answer to defence issue: MATS HUMMELS. going to cost loads, but what did sir alex do when he had a bad defence, he bought the best defender for the highest price paid in football history for a defender:
Rio ferdinand- £35 MIL
just athought
agger hummels would be the best in the league!

LOL! He is good enough for the top teams in europe!

Id rather we got subotic if we had to get one from dortmund, but i'd still rather get de vrij from feyenoord.

You know I think a move to England is still a bit early for Hummles. I have watched him and I think that his lack of pace can be exposed in the premier league, such as it was exposed by Balotelli in the euro's. He just has to improve his positioning and speed of thought and he can be great. He is still young and has all of the tools to be a great player although I still fear he might not be ready.
dr

Hummels even playing for German national team seems to struggle with pace but more problem with badstuber I can say. If agger can carry of skrtel and kjaer in whole lot of matches I trust him to with hummels!

Coutinho has the work rate of Kuyt but has some talent as well, can see him being instrumental in Rodgers rebuilding. I hope he isn't one of these fragile types or one to let his head drop.

Good result against a dire Wigan but hopefully the impetus will see us past Tottenham after their difficult week.

He does not have the work rate of kuyt. even if his work rate was good today it doesn't compare to dirk.

The only one who comes close to Dirk in terms of work-rate in this team is Suarez. And to some extent maybe Henderson! Dirk was infatiguable! If only he had a bit of pace, he'd have been been an even bigger fan favourite.

May not have the work rate, but light years ahead in skill

I hink we're missing something here; I'm not Kuyt bashing; but Coutinho doesn't need to have his workrate he has different qualities (2assists 1 goal in 2 games); doesn't lose the ball and is more creative.

Again not knocking Kuyt but the way we play Coutinho is better suited to our game and the one i'd prefer in my team.

"infatiguable" must go down as one of the greats along with "bouncbackability"

Dirk won me over during his Liverpool career by his commitment to the cause.
But I never thought he was a great player. Sorry but he was average at best. We also did not win anything of note when Kuyt was at Liverpool and great players win trophies.
I do respect him though and I was sorry to see him go.

Thought downing worked hard, not in kuyts league, would be interesting if we still had kuyt playing on the right or 4-3-3, never played well as a striker upfront, but on the wing worked solid and often did a thing or two.

Just after that 'through ball 'in first half against zenith when we were 1-0 I was sure coutinho is a phenomenon! And after last game I was sure!

He showed great work rate, skill, vision, attitude yesterday. When his fitness and strength comes up to par, he'll become the star his destined to be. I honestly think he'll be another Suarez within the team in 2/3 years time. Right now he's a good asset to have and certainly adds a threat.

Great players don't NEED trophies to prove that they're great.

Anyone else glad we didn't shell out all that cash for Gaston Ramirez in the summer and we got a much better, more talented, and cheaper player in Coutinho by waiting 6 months? Well played Liverpool.

Different subject-stop Fellani-stop Blues?

Stop Suarez?

03 Mar 2013 02:30:16
Saurez has taken us for half of the season. At present it looks Sturridge and Coutinho can share the burden of Saurez.
ynwa

Different subject? Stop Bale stop Spuds :)

Stop Suarez? Well if you stop Suarez then we have sturridge, coutinho, gerrard etc. Where as Everton don't have anyone else! Bitter blues yet again lol

In all fairness Everton's left side is also pretty good.
dr

So we're not fans of the bitters but they do have players that can hurt people. Mirallas, Pineear and Baines. This kind of attitude is what hurts us when we win 2 games and all of a sudden the fight for 4th is back on
Take it one game at a time and respect your opponent, not to much though.

All them advocating a Suarez sale-WHEN will you realise at this stage of our development he's key! We aren't swimming with class players. When Rush, Owen, Torres went we had better squads. Were trying to build. it's IMPERATIVE he stays

Just an update of some information I shared with you a week ago:

- Now only five players have played every minute of every Premier league match, three keepers and two outfield players; Leighton Baines and Steven GerrArd.

- Obviously we all know Suarez is now top scorer!

- Reina is joint third in the clean sheets department (9) with Mignolet and Begovic (from two defensive teams). Cech is on either ten or eleven and joe hart is on 12.

- we've scored over 3 goals in eight matches now

- we've also scored more goals than Everton, Tottenham and arsenal (though the last two are playing tomorrow)

Cheers,

Reina is second with 11 clean sheets behind Hart.

Been looking at prem tables for last 4 years and 4th place points are between 68pts and 70 pts. Assuming we are to aim for this, we must win all or at least 9 out of the 10 remaining.

What a challenge and why not. We're playing mainly lower teams away. Southampton, villa, reading, Newcastle, Fulham

Home: spurs, Chelsea, west ham, Everton, QPR

Wins not draws required. I think 5th / 6th is more realistic but we'll finish above Everton!

60 pts has achieved 4th, Everton got 4th in 2005 with 61pts.
When it's ultra competitive you generally will get 4th with less points.
My guess is 66pts will do it.

One game at a time. I hope this top 4 thing doesn't affect our players and their performances.
