Hey Eds,
Everyone else has given their opinion on the season ahead now that BR is still in charge.
What do you guys see for the transfer window and season ahead, just your guesstimate not asking for magic ball stuff.

Without CL football I don't see us getting the type of quality we need to push for Top 4 unfortunately. There are 3 positions I can see that need filling for us to be a dangerous side but we need better than adequate. It will be a battle for fifth between us and Spuds in my opinion.

i think we have a lot of players to sell , we need to clear out of sorts. and add ings and milner and we are fine. for me this window should be about sales. there are 11 players in the team that are not required, we have to try our best to move them namely
Allen,balo,enrique,coates,alberto,aspas,borini,lambert,manquillo(send back),one of skrtel,lovren or sakho, markovic( i really don't see him playing a lot other than at RWB, so we can loan him, i think all of us agree he won't be justifying his price at LFC)
and then may be sterling is also going.
so 12 players in all.
sign ings and milner on bosmans. and maybe kono too. bring the youth into the first team and see where it takes us. selling all above should place us financially in a better space too , just if some special player becomes available and ready for a move to anfield. i think instead of buying , this once our priority should be selling, even if it means taking a loss on few players. we won't be weak as a squad even if we sell these players and play our youth in the first squad.

hey eds who in your opinion would you like to see at liverpool realistically hope you get time to answer

Believable1 Unbelievable1

{Ed001's Note - I would still love Gary Medel, Inter are a shambles so he should be attainable and would offer us a player entirely suited to the role that Rodgers attempted to shoehorn Gerrard into last season.}

04 Jun 2015 00:03:02
Not to worry, Ed because Joe Allen will be that guy.

Agree11 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - that is what worries me, precisely what worries me.}

04 Jun 2015 00:11:11
Agree ed, but think we had our chance whilst he was in the championship with Cardiff. Not now he is with inter, they have just recently signed him so I imagine they will raise sales with icardi hernanes/kovacic.

Fingers crossed though because not only can.he.play.in a mid 3 but he cab also play the centre of a back 3 very wel. couldn't be more perfect for a manager like Brendan with how he wants to play and likes different versatile options!

I once heard xavi recommended him to Barcelona aswel, pretty good reference

And he is aggressive aswel, which is what we need!

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - he is one of the most underrated players in European football I think. He even made Steven Caulker look like a half decent defender with the protection he gave him.....}

04 Jun 2015 00:25:06
It's a shame tbh because a transfer window of;

Cech, Marshall, benaglio (most probably all unattainable)

Medel

Would sort out the defence no doubt and also bring the forward players to life.

Medel I just forget about tbh because it's never happening haha its insane because we would have super options in terms of formations during games as he can.fit in to any 4-2-3-1,4141,352,343,433,41212.

He hasn't got a bad injury record either has he!

Agree0 Disagree2

04 Jun 2015 03:33:54
Medel is awesome and plays the DM role so well that he slides into the libero position atimes with the Chile national team. He's a Dm we could use but with BR and his love-in with Joe Allen, ain't going to happen.

04 Jun 2015 11:59:52
Inter are a shambles you say? We're a bloody shambles too!

Hi Eds

Was just wandering about your opinion on Luis García when he played for us? I don't know why but I've always liked the man just was curious about your opinion of him

Thanks

Believable2 Unbelievable1

{Ed001's Note - loved him as a bloke, but he was just too inconsistent as a player to be considered as one of the greats. Hard not to like him, he popped up with some vital goals, but he just lacked something, that special something that makes a player stand out as one of the best.}

03 Jun 2015 23:04:45
Thanks for the reply Ed001

I completely agree with you, do you know what he is considering for the future in terms of a career if he is going into coaching or something like that?

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed001's Note - last I heard he was coming back to work for us, but I don't know if he has or not yet. By us I mean Liverpool FC, not liverpool-rumours sadly.}

03 Jun 2015 23:34:09
Luis is one of my favourite ex-reds in terms of his use of social media to just tweet completely biased views on our games! His goal against Juve remains one of my favourites ever, what a hit that was!

Agree4 Disagree1

03 Jun 2015 23:35:20
He does tv work occasionally in Ireland for the Europa league and judging by his Twitter account he does tv in Spain also if that's of any interest to anyone!

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed001's Note - he was defo in talks with Liverpool, I was just having a quick scout around online to see if I had imagined it or not and can find one interview this year where he mentions it. So he should be coming back, though I can't remember what role it was for and the interview never makes it clear. Wonder if it is for the TV channel?}

04 Jun 2015 00:04:21
He was with BEINSPORT here in the U.S for a long while.

Been mentioned and again sorry for random 'ya rate him' but any thoughts on Yarmolenko as a player? Try to see him when I can but don't have as much freedom as I'd like.

Always rated him when I saw him and not sure if he'd suit us but find it surprising players who look good (Kono, Adriano, Yarmolenko, Ayew) who are on free agents don't have more buzz. Yet berahino, benteke, etc apparently are £20-30m players.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

03 Jun 2015 22:41:18
Whenever I've watched Ukraine Kono has stood out much more than Yarmolenko

Hi ED,
Just want to know why Brendan seems to want Lucas out. Been our best and most consistent player since about 2011 and loves the club and fans.

Our only good spell this season was when Lucas was back in the team and ended near enough when he got injured. Without him next year, or a suitable replacement, I'm worried that the entire year will be mediocre and there won't even be a 'good spell' to save our blushes. Anyways, love the site and great work YNWA

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - I have no idea what you are talking about. How has this manifested itself?}

03 Jun 2015 22:32:09
I agree that Lucas is a good player but our best spell was when we went on the run that nearly led us to the title, most games then was without Lucas.

Agree1 Disagree7

03 Jun 2015 22:58:13
Wrong. When Lucas plays, we almost never lose. We lost vs Arsenal with his first game back from injury so to me that doesn't count. Lucas is one of the best DM's in the PL when fit. Only BR thinks Allen and Delph are better than him. Says it all, really.

Agree15 Disagree1

04 Jun 2015 08:45:39
Ed's 2 I think you might find it has manifested itself because Ed's 1 has stated in the past that Lucas wanted away because of the disgraceful treatment he had from the club and some on here automatically thought it was Rogers fault

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - The club persuaded him to stay in January. I appreciate that as usual the fans want all of the players gone this summer.}

03 Jun 2015 20:45:39
Hey, moving away from the rumours just had a story,

attended the sydney fc vs chelsea game on tuesday night with brother in law, just wanted to know what the atmosphere was like at stamford bridge?

For 85 thousand fans i have never seen a more dull crowd, the biggest cheers of the night were from pitch invaders and paper aeroplanes being thrown onto the field. what a boring lot they were, next to no singing either?

I got a photo with mourinho walking down darling harbour and he couldn't have been less interested in being in australia.
I asked him what he thought of Australia and he stopped looked me in the eyes and said " not much at all", he was with his assistant and he said "another photo, another photo" with disgust.

Just thought i'd share my experience with you all. The main thing that surprised me was that they were not handing out blue plastic flags to the fans.

Tristan

Believable2 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - I guess as a Chelsea fan you must be disappointed - I am not so sure why you are posting this on a Liverpool page?}

04 Jun 2015 00:19:55
If he really did say that, then it's probably because he wasn't able to do many things. He was stuck in his hotel because every time he tried to go out somewhere, shopping for example, he got mobbed and had to go back to his hotel. Sydney harbour is great, but it just looking at it for a few days won't keep you entertained.

Agree1 Disagree0

04 Jun 2015 05:42:27
It is so rare for us Aussies to have quality players and managers out here. we sit and watch them from the other side of the world and get a bit awestruck. Bondi Beach was chaos when Paris Hilton visited - how sad is that?

04 Jun 2015 06:20:15
What about the Remy goal though. Shame he has a dodgy ticker, or could have banged a few in for us like that!!

Agree0 Disagree1

04 Jun 2015 09:21:43

Hi Ed, Any chance of Walcott in the coming window? Milner, walcott wouldbe a good step forward. Also your thoughts on outgoings balotelli, mignolet, allen, sahko, markovic, lovren and manquillo. Really hooe sterling goes.

{Ed002's Note - Try the search engine.}

03 Jun 2015 17:48:59
Ed002 am I right in thinking our 3 main targets so far are Kovacic, Clyne and Yarmelenko? With Milner and Ings on Bosmans? Would love to hear your thoughts and suggestions on these please Eds? Thanks lads

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - No.}

03 Jun 2015 22:16:44
I think its going to just be who is attainable as dumb as that sounds haha

But i think we will have top target and then second, third etc and will end up with the 2/3 I doubt we will get our top targets! I think the next few weeks will be spent testing the water, making enquiries, try to flog some players and then what wr get is what we get!

I just see Milner, ings, bogdan and then getting nowere and then we go get benteke lol which would be dreadful. Sorry ed I can't not slate a player before he joins us or before there ate rumours he is joining us, bht there is nothing right in getting benteke at all.

Unless big Sam came on board.

04 Jun 2015 01:32:22

Surely it's entirely unfair that Origi was in worst team of year, I don't see that 8 goals in 33 matches is bad at all. A goal every 4.125 games for a 20 year old in a decent league is not something to ridicule the lad for.
Personally looking forward to having him here next season, and hope he has a great season.
prove the papers and 'fans' wrong.

03 Jun 2015 22:15:55
Just read his comments about lfc should be fighting for the title and can skit him for being unrealistic but shows he wants to win things and thinks he can do so here.

Not seen much of him (mainly at World Cup and youtube) but is strong, fast and has ability. Plays wide and got 8 goals in a weak side, give the lad a chance and support him could surprise everyone! Plus started a lot of the World Cup for Belgium (unless I'm mistaken ahead of lukaku).

As long as he works hard for the team, we should support him. Would hate it if fans turn on him if it takes a while to settle!

Agree8 Disagree1

03 Jun 2015 22:18:18
Got 3 of those goals in one game didn't he?

He's just a boy probably between ibe and Marko in term of where he is at and how far he has to go poentially wise. Wont see much of him next year and not through game time but I just don't think he is going to be ready for 1/2/3 years, maybe a loan next year would do him better than this situation in Lille.

03 Jun 2015 23:23:06

04 Jun 2015 00:16:24
Behind lukaku and benteke as 3rd choice!

A young player like that needs to play 35/40 games a season in a good.league to get to any potential and being 3rd choice for Liverpool won't.do him any good, and also there is to much expectancy.on him this yea, he would do better not being involved this year. I.mean a loan to Bournemouth outh, Stoke, Swansea, Leicester not really inundated with strikers.

Agree0 Disagree2

04 Jun 2015 01:23:02
Thinking of loaning him out is beyond idiotic. Play the boy and play him often. Remember that Raheem Sterling fellow?

04 Jun 2015 01:33:46
Playing wingback will likely hurt his development, along with markovic.

03 Jun 2015 22:19:38
Just come back from an acl, got to be left alone for another year before anyone should look at him.

See wether he has lost any pace or if it reoccura again.

Morata was the one we should of gone for, (not that we ever did) but boy is that a 18 million pound gem that got away.

Would you guys think that getting milner, ings and kovavic would be a good improvement on the team? Havent seen much on Kovavic and haven't seen him play much either? Is he a decent midfielder?

Believable1 Unbelievable5

03 Jun 2015 21:12:09
It would be a good improvement to the squad rather than the team I think.
A top striker will improve our team as would a decent right back and a good holding midfielder.
Good additions to the squad for sure though!

i am croatian and everyone in croatia thinks he is twice the player modric was at his age. he has everything but seems lost at inter as mancini didn't give him the chance and free role to flourish. another coutinho at inter and i dare to say even better player as he is good runner and will improve in defence. has a good shoot,pass,dribbling and those runs with te ball. not finished product but midfield of can as dm kova and hendo besides him and cou at the tip would be amazing

Haha asked a similar question ages ago and remember comments about paul Stewart, really have to look him up! But jovanavic was the worst player I have ever seen play, saw his debut and took the final whistle before I was convinced this wasn't some sort of joke! Does El shae not get a mention?

{Ed002's Note - There are lots of current players you can trash as well - after all it is the Liverpool Way.}

03 Jun 2015 22:41:06
Ya I'd throw in Aquilani as Matt says there, take out Diao he wasn't that bad.

This is going to sound completely hypocritical but anyway - take out Mark Gonzalez he didn't get a fair chance I don't think and put in Antonio Nunez who also didn't get a chance but he looked absolute pants!

I'd take out Djimi Traore as bad as he was do you remember the two scrawny (yes even skinnier than Traore) lads who got some games about 5 years ago, Danny Wilson from Rangers and Daniel Ayala from Norwich - they didn't look anywhere near ready. As messy as Traore was I'd rather him any day but they were only young fellas.

Agree1 Disagree0

03 Jun 2015 23:20:05
Don't forget kromkamp he only lasted 6 months right bag of rubbish

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - if I remember correctly he was the lad that never wanted to be here in the first place and it showed every time he was on the pitch. Quite tall right back wasn't he? Dutch lad? Really sulky? Or am I getting him mixed up with someone else?}

03 Jun 2015 23:27:23
I agree ed001 Paul Stewart was awful a typical sourness signing

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - you could really pick any of Souness's signings, even Stan came back half the player he was before Souness sold him.}

03 Jun 2015 23:51:13
Poor Philipp Degen. The man suffered a collapsed lung, a few broken ribs and a fractured metatarsal a couple of times. At least he put his body on the line.

Balotelli can't break a sweat never mind a rib.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Jun 2015 23:49:42
Am I right in saying Souness actuall signed Stewart while turning down the chance of signing Roy Keane Ed??

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - if I remember rightly no. Dalglish was going to sign him for Blackburn but, even though he had verbally agreed a deal and shaken on it, he then went back on his word and signed for Man Utd. Maybe that is what you are thinking of? I don't remember us turning him down in the Souness era. We might have turned him down when he was a youngster after a trial, I seem to remember him saying that once, but that would have been before Souness anyway, even if my memory is correct about that.}

I hope and pray we buy Dzeko, he is better than Benzeke and not a mercenary either!, he is far more suited to our style of play, he can shoot right /left and he can head a ball, plus we could get rid of the waste of space known as Sterling the wonder boy

What is it with players like Benteke? "if i am not automatically in the first team then i'm not signing" and the latest one "if the club is not in the Champs League i'm not signing" well that rules LFC out then right? the arrogance and ego of players like him make me want to vomit, the tables have turned, the players run the game these days, LFC want to make him very rich and he spits in our eye! give him a wide berth i say, he is not the only striker out there, he was rubbish against Arsenal and if you can't sweat blood for the FA Cup final???

Perfectly legitimate from a player who consider to leave his team to go for a team in which he will be in the starting 11. Players want to play. I honeslty don't understand players like Dzeko who with his ability is willing to come from the bench in most games. What's the point of that? Benteke is playing for a Pl side who just got to the FA cup final. He is their first striker and always play when fit. Doubtful if he will win mroe trophies with us why would he move if he will spend most of the time on the bench? Or play for Chelseas but only in games when Costa is not fit? And of course he can choose a side who is in the CL - if no CL football then why leave AV? He is quite happy there.

I've done a search but couldn't find the answer so I wonder if one of the Ed's (or anyone else) could assist with the answer?

I was wondering if the current Anfield expansion plans allow for any further expansion in the future? i.e. presently the capacity is circa 45, 500 and is being increased by 8, 500 to - 54,000, which for mine isn't a massive increase given the purported outlay, my opinion aside, could an increase on 54,000 be made if the decision to "increase/expand" arose or would it then mean a definite move away from Anfield to further increase capacity?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - the plan is to expand further in the future, as the area's infrastructure is improved to enable a larger capacity crowd to be handled by the transport links.}

03 Jun 2015 19:39:48
Thanks for the rapid reply Ed001 . I thought it would be very short-sighted not to implement/allow for such.

{Ed001's Note - at the moment it can't, but the council and the club are working on a regeneration plan for the area which would change that.}

Hi Ed, are FSG committed to the further extension? Planning permission guarantees made to the council etc? I mean will it follow straight on from the current one? I'm not sure If there is a time scale as to when the next phase has to happen.
The reason I ask, is come 2017 FSG might feel like selling up. So would the possible new owners be obliged to carry out the second phase?
Just asking like. 😊

{Ed001's Note - it is a long way off, nothing has been committed to in that respect.}

Hi guys, a question more directed to Ed01:

With Milner and Ings supposedly arriving on a free transfer, if these deals go through or we even get close to getting them, is that a sign of Liverpool being more savvy on the transfer market? Or do you still believe that these £6million crappy fringe players will still be brought in like the latest 6 years! Drives me absolutely insane that youngsters don't get ago.
In my opinion, you buy out and out world talent as best as you can for the price you can or the youngsters bolster the squad.

Just to summarise, my question is:
With Milner and Ings supposedly arriving on a free transfer, if these deals go through or we even get close to getting them, is that a sign of Liverpool being more savvy on the transfer market? Or do you still believe that these £6million crappy fringe players will still be brought in?

this isn't a direct rumour but more of an attempt to quash those where big name players are mentioned.
Ed's, as far as I am aware we don't really pay big wages.
We don't currently possess any world starts int he side and have no CL football to offer.

I have seen in some posts reference being made to big players not being attracted and then Suarez occasionally being used to counter this.

I would say we are definitely not in the same place now. we don't have a renowned senior player a the club or a highly decorated former player as manager, IMO fans need to tone their expectations down as to who we are signing.

Agree3 Disagree8

03 Jun 2015 22:55:44
The general consensus is that we shouldn't have a manager. Because he has failed, it is as simple as that. People are saying we can't attract top talents or managers because we are not attractive yet I see loads of teams buying quality players (quality above the likes of which we seem to purchase) yet they are not in the CL and some not even in Europe. There some huge problems at the club and I would say most of the important roles are currently occupied by professional rookies, I've said it before and I'll say it again. None of which know how to run a football club on the scale of Liverpool which is why we are moving backwards fast. Forget last season, last season was Suarez, plain and simple.

Agree3 Disagree0

03 Jun 2015 23:07:47
The manager is no longer the prob. The owners are. The fact that they looked at other options but stuck with him simply meant if someone they wanted had been available, they would have sacked him. If that was the case, Unai Emery would have been a good option because he is a proven winner with Sevilla. They bottled it and they are now our no.1 prob, not BR.

I think it is universally recognised that Gerrard is either the best player to have ever put on a Liverpool shirt, or the second behind Dagleish. Yet lots of you don't even put him in your best ever team. Just proves to me that you know nothing about football

Agree0 Disagree3

{Ed001's Note - or that we disagree with what is just an opinion by some people that don't even know who Billy Liddell is, who many would still argue was the greatest player ever to play for Liverpool. You need to remove your head from your anus and grow up. Gerrard is not universally recognised as the best, some people think he is, some don't, but then most of us aren't getting our points of view from tabloid papers, where you clearly get all your information from.}

03 Jun 2015 22:46:07
Doesn't matter what era you have watched LFC - the midfield of Case, Souness, McDermott and Ray Kennedy will never be bettered as a unit.
Chris Lawler the best right full back I have ever seen, a central defence of Hansen and Lawrenson, Clemence by far the best keeper we have had.
And as for up front - Owen has a better goals per game ratio than Fowler and Rush, but can't be included, Roger Hunt for me is the best inside right we have had, and although he wasn't here long Saurez has to be included, so where do I put the best player I have seen in a red shirt - King Kenny.
It's all subjective, but comparing like for like, my team would be:-
Clemence
Lawler ( or Neal )
Hansen
Lawrenson ( or Stevenson )
Alan Kennedy ( or Moran )
Gerrard ( in place of Case )
Souness
McDermott
Ray Kennedy
Dalglish ( possibly Hunt, Fowler, Rush or Owen )
Saurez

Subs - as above plus John Barnes.

Seen great players, and great teams - impossible job.

I've left out some of my all time favourites - Ian St John, Ian Callaghan, Sami Hyppia, Gerry Byrne, Tommy Smith, Emlyn Hughes - the list of great players I have been lucky to watch over the last 50 years.

And we now have a manager who, in my opinion, should not be called a coach or a manager - we are doomed to be a mid ( or lower ) table side as long as he stays in charge

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Jun 2015 23:05:24
No eds, I don't get my points of view from tabloid newspapers, as my name suggests I have been a true supporter since my first visit to Anfield when Swansea Town as they were then won 2-1 in the quarter final of the FA cup in 1964. Ronnie Moran missed a penalty to force a replay and Noel Dwyer the Swansea keeper had the game of his life. Since then I have seen most of the greats play for Liverpool. I took an under 12's team to Anfield to watch us beat Oxford 6-0 and I thought that the partnership between Rush and Dagleish was nothing short of telepathic. But i stand by what I say Gerrard is the best player to put on a Liverpool shirt

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - in your opinion. But that is not mine. He is not even half the player Souness was, he has no defensive awareness at all. His best position was the one he refused to play for Liverpool yet said he was happy to play there or anywhere for England. If he had stayed there, as Rafa wanted him to, he would have been in the argument to be the greatest ever, as it is, he was too prone to errors leading to goals that should never have been if he had been awake defensively. Too many lazy back passes without looking.}

04 Jun 2015 10:00:34
thoroughly agree which is why Gerrard was not in my side
and btw when I meant steel in midfield I meant central, agree about McManaman shout - saw him tackle once and went straight to Specsavers to get my eye test done!!

Mcmahon and Souness both had defensive awareness - look at how many goals we didn't concede with those in the side, this wasn't purely down to 2x centre halves and a GK it was their awareness of what was going on around them.

know of an ex-player who quite openly states hated playing with SG as he had literally no defensive awareness and simply didn't try to address it.

unfortunately for me - SG stands out recently because of a lack of quality around him, players in the late 70s and 80s for LFC don't get the same recognition and adulation but won far more.

1.Mauro Icardi/(order of perference)
2.Luciano vietto/
3.Jese Rodriguez/
4.Leo Baptistao.
Best thing is to bring in Jackson Martinez.

Instead of buying wide player we should go for CDM like
2.Kondogbia
1.William Carvalho

Then we should defo buy a GK
1.Cech
2.Begovic
3.Handanovic.

If we can invest some money then we should buy Clyne.

Also if possible we should sell Allen to balance the books.

Appernatly they are willing to pay Milner, a substitute in Man City who probabloy wouldn't be even a substitue in Chelsea, in the final years of his career, 150k a week to play in a team that will not play in the CL, will be ahuge miracle if will be able to win a trophy and is unloikely to finish inthe top4. And you ask if we are willing to pay big to players?

In the world I live in (I admit a bit old fashined one) I am still really surprised players like Milner get more than 150K a year (a very nice salary by the way). Nothing particulalry against him, a nice player, not worse than some of our current midfielders so the above amount applies to them as well.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Jun 2015 15:38:59
So here's my view on this whole debacle.

I am dissapointed with FSG's decision, as is everyone, but i am not angry with them and im
not about to start saying they don't know what they're doing and they're destroying the club blah blah blah

They aren't accepting mediocrity, they simply believe that rodgers is capable of turning this around. I don't however, and haven't since november of 2014, and don't think he ever will.
That doesn't mean they are accepting mediocirty, they simply believe rodgers is still the answer. Its their opinion, their choice, and it certainly isn't anything to do with money or severance payments.

These are men who are multimillionaires, have huge amounts of money on the line and their own interests. They run Boston Red Sox. They clearly know what they are doing, i don't think they are going to just sack the man they chose for the job and risk instability because Paul aged 57 from down the Albert Pub has a different opinion. Please pipe down and have a bit more respect for people who aren't trying to
rip us off like the last lot.

Now i am not one of these people that thinks any kind of failure is unacceptable. I saw someone say that somehow the difference between greatness and mediocrity is real sacking ancelotti and us keeping rodgers. If that is seriously your opinion that the way real do things is better than us then you are the worlds most deluded football fan.

I am more than happy for rodgers to turn this around. But i'm 110% sure that he wont, otherwise he would have already. The owners won't be giving him any more money, that's for sure. I reckon he'll last til January. I hope i am surprised and that Tom Werner is a genius and we actually play really well and everything goes back to the way it was, but i just don't think we will.

The first time i have ever gone into a season without a shred of optimism. I fail to see where another season of rodgers will take us, he just won't change. I feel so unbelievably empty with everything football at the moment. It really is a low point.

Congratulations rodgers, you've managed to balls up one of the best chances we had to kick on and become a top team again. Now we are just consigned to you playing all 12 of our new signings this summer in the wrong posiitions. What a season this will be.

The best description I could give of you is " GULLIBLE "! USA USA USA USA USA USA.

Agree6 Disagree6

03 Jun 2015 16:57:02
Alas, being classy as always, the average liverpool fan.

Yes because being pro USA is really my agenda, trying to logically look at this without behaving like, as Ed002 would describe, 'a knuckle dragging oaf', criticising our owners because they aren't from a footballing country.

But i bet you wouldn't have any issue if it were russian or arab owners who bought the club and cared even less about it, but because they pour billions into it and use it as their toy, i bet you'd be happy.

Im sure the owners really don't care aboutthe club, yeah there's so much evidence to support that statement, and i bet they clearly have no idea what they're doing. After all, what do a group of multimillionaires know compared to the ingenious working class supporters of liverpool?

They care so little about the club they have comitted to building a stadium extension, saved us from being liquidated
and poured hundreds of millions into the club only to see every penny of it spent by piss poor employees who then spend it recruiting even more piss poor employees. i'm sure they just don't care anymore, obviously.

To be honest, i feel really sorry for them by this point. Everyone they employ just seems to fail them and all the fans ever do is have a go at them for not being able to turn us into barcelona overnight and spending tons of money, despite that being what forced them to save us in the first place.

So yes, i am clearly the gullible one.

Agree7 Disagree6

03 Jun 2015 17:27:20

Agree6 Disagree2

03 Jun 2015 17:57:23
And off the top of my head i remember a time when everyone was furious that we had missed out on sigurdsson and skeptical about sturridge and coutinho but welcomed borini and allen with open arms.

So i'll be respecting their judgement before that of most football fans. I believe
that keeping rodgers is the wrong choice but i'm not going to accuse them of being bloodsucking leeches with no ambition just because they made a decision i don't think is the best choice.

Agree3 Disagree2

03 Jun 2015 18:42:24
It's a naive decision of the highest order AW. They own the club, so it's down to them. Yes, they have ploughed money into the club and started development on the ground etc, which is fantastic, but why reward failure, and BR has been a failure, big time. With this decision, the Owner's have shown a side to themselves that says that they have no idea or vision. When one thinks about it, it just doesn't make any sense to keep him, no sense at all. He doesn't learn, constant foot in mouth - which the Eds have said previously, that he's been told numourous times to zip it, yet continues. Why is any of that going to change! So they've rewarded someone that is a failure, someone that doesn't listen, someone that freezes players out, someone that does't care about the youth at the club, the list is endless. Big mistake keeping him on.

Agree5 Disagree1

03 Jun 2015 19:15:00
How do you define a failure? How many chances do you have to be given before defined as a total failure?

Obviously it is different for some, some people wanted him out in november, like me, some in his first few months, some as soon as he was appointed. Everyones definition of what is good enough is different.

As such, the owners obviously feel they can give him one more chance before deeming him a total failure. And let's be honest, if he spent no more money and switched it all about and we won stuff then he wouldn't be a failure, would he?

Now obviously i don't think that's going to happen, nobody does, but the owners feel
it might. They aren't making this decision just to drive the club into the ground for the hell of it like most fans would have you believe.

And we have no idea what went on in the club, or what their reasons are, we literally know nothing, so we should stop pretending we do. If all else fails, he'll be out by january, and we'll all breath a sigh of relief.

The multiple USA's was a mock of you chanting by way of support, it could easily have been multiple FSG's, my point being you won't have a word said against them which clearly shows your gullible as you see them as having the clubs best interests at heart when the almighty dollar is what they have at heart.

Since they arrived " TO SAVE US, YAWN YAWN ", buying us for waaaaayyyyyyy below market value what have they done? Poor net spend on players, sacking a legend to replace with a novice car salesmen who they are sticking with because its the cheap option and he's a yes man, putting us back into massive debt, all while no doubt taking a massive salary from the club all leading to a sell off when the big TV deal comes in, no doubt doubling and more there overall investment, no I take that back, your not gullible at all ( rolls eyes ).

This knuckle dragging oaf can see them for what they are, parasites!!

Everyone is critical of the owners now, yet none of us actually know what the plan is that Rodgers agreed to. Perhaps it involves a DoF who will oversee things behind the scenes including transfer, thus freeing Rodgers to spend more time on the training pitch (he did complain of not having enough coaching time this year after all ).
If was calling for Rodgers to go just like everyone else, but he hasn't he his the manager of LFC and until a time when he isn't (maybe they have told him he has till January to improve) we will have to get on with it. It support our club in want us to do well if that means Rodgers proving us all wrong then great. Let's move on now and support and get behind our team

03 Jun 2015 21:49:31
Poor net spend on players? Yeah because they did that to annoy us didn't they, its not like its their own money their pissing down the drain is it.

Replacing a legend with a novice car salesman? Again, they clearly did that to spite us didn't they.

Its not like kenny was only a short term solution, and that rodgers was clearly brought in to 'cut costs' or be a 'yes man' as you would suggest, like FSG are the bloody Illuminati or something. They brought him in to bring us long term success, and it hasn't worked out! How bloody hard is that to understand!

Im clearly the gullible one, i think you've been watching too many of those conspiracy documentaries mate. Just another know-it-all who'll blame every higher power for being corrupt or bullying the hard working public or whatever the hell your crackhead theory is.

Assuming that they do just want to sell up, which i'm not that bothered about so long as they don't do what the last cowboys did let's assess your theory that they are just sucking the life out of the club.

Why have they started building a stadium extension?

Why would they spend their own money to try and achieve success? How the hell would driving us into debt to achieve success look attractive to potential buyers?! they're doing the exact opposite of what you think they're doing, and you call me gullible?! What a joke.

And do you seriously think the financial implications of sacking rodgers would be as significant as getting a manager who would guarantee champions league, and the revenues that come with it? Do you really think it compares? they're keeping him because they believe he can get us champions league, otherwise they would have got rid of him, surely you aren't gullible enough not see that.

Why don't you stop calling me 'gullible' and look for some logic in that lunatic argument of yours. While your at it, i'd also like the number for whoever gave you whatever it is your smoking.

Agree2 Disagree3

03 Jun 2015 23:23:23
AW, nobody knows why they are keeping him if as the Ed02 said, the owners were presented with other coaching options and declined them. Meaning? Had they found someone, he'd be gone. Unai Emery was there yet they may or may not have thought he was good enuff which is staggering. They kept him and are not saying why so all you have is suppositions which have no basis in a factual discussion. What we do know on the face of it, is that this decision was nothing but a total bottle and choke job on the part of the owners and if you think based on the past three years! that BR can mount a CL challenge, you are fooling yourself. None of the other top 5 clubs would have kept him and we all know that so why should we just accept failure being shoved down our throats all in the name of supporting the club and manager no matter what? Good luck getting those top players to come here and play for a failure of a manager and good luck keeping Lucas, Sahko and the other players who are fed up with him. Until the contrary has be proven, this decision is a disgrace and an affront to our great club.

Your line of reasoning is not very convincing. To say that becuase they have a lot of money or are the owners of the Boston Red Socks they cannot make big big mistakes is not a very strong argument. It is a bit like saying that a politician cannot make huge mistakes becuase he was good enough to win the election.

People with a lot of money can do huge mistakes as the business world show us every day. I honestly don't understand why they got into this Liverpool ownership business. It is a well known fact that it is hard to make money from ownership of top football team sin Europe. You have to get into it becuase you have passion for football.

I don't think they have passion for football. Don't get me worng I think they have good intentions but they clearly don't understand football the way Roman Abramovich does and I am not even sure they like football as much as Roman Abramovich do. Every time one of the Eds mention them they say they are getting advice from thrid parties. Did you ever hear someone say that Abramovich decides to bring Mourinho or sack a manager because someone advised him to do so as he himslef didn't know what to do?

Look what happened to Chelsea under Abramovich and what happened to City with the new owners and what has (not) become of us. We didn't progress one bit since they came, maybe went backword at least on the pitch (if we improved financially this wasn't translated to any achievements on the pitch which is the ultimate goal of a football club).

And what makes it worse, is that we had a huge chance to get back to the top after last year with the amazing Suarez and instead we went back big time. BR failed and in any other club with serious intentions to improve he would have gone because it is clear to everyone that he doesn't have what it takes to be a top top manager. And all the indications showed that Klopp wanted the job which could have been like a miracle, too good to be true. What was the owenrs response? Review, and another chance to BR. A review? seriously? bit like making a review for a striker to understand why he misses so much sitters. Let's ask an accountant for advice on how we can score more goals. It is not a grocery shop, it is a top PL club and you have to be ruthless at times and cease opportunities and cut damages.

By keping BR they are saying this is the best the team can get, top 6. You will not find anyone in the football world not even the greatest BR supporters, not even he himself that think that Liverpool with him can get even close to the top 4 next season. Maybe they got so disillusioned with the club that they think that with any manager we will not get to the top 4 so at least they don't have to pay BR his full contract when someone else fails. Fair enough but then why do you stay? In my view it is a lot about his contract. They look to me like poeple who don't enjoy paying someone three years when he worked only a year for them (fair enough but sort this in the contract in advance so you have to pay him only 6 months if being sacked). This is the reason why Baloteli will stay with us next season as well they don't like to buy high and sell low. This is all good if you run a grocery store, but as I said before, a top football team is a bit like taking part in auction for very expensive art pieces. You cannot be succesful if you are hesitant.

Even with Rodgers here next season, I'm confident of a top 4 finish, just as long as we bring in a natural right back and a natural striker.

We finished 6th with a young winger played up front for the majority of the season, and also a young midfielder played centre back/right back for the majority of the season. Therefore, if we only brought in 2 natural players for those positions, I'd be confident of a top 4 finish.

However, I'm slightly more hungry and want a title fight, but to be ready for that, we must bring in several players. Priority for me would be to bring in a passing midfielder to help us dictate games, we would also need a new centre back and a goalkeeper that would be an upgrade on Skrtel and Migs. Then I'd be confident of a title fight.

Agree5 Disagree4

03 Jun 2015 14:35:23
Current top 4 will improve with the type of players we dream of. They will all become uncatchable.
Only hope could be Man City, if Agureo goes to Madrid and both Dzeko and Toure are sold then they could buy bad (it happens, see Mangela). But I can see Bony being just as lethal if given a run.

The top four have players and a manager who knows how to win titles. Our situation hasn't changed, so can't really see why it would.

Being able to maintain 6th would be impressive. We need to be looking at how Spurs, Saints, Newcastle, West Ham and Swansea will improve. Add the wild card of the promoted as both Watford and B'Mouth have money play good football. Stoke and even Everton will have desires to push on too.

There is a big pack which we could get sucked into going by our end of season form.

That's working on the assumption that we buy amazingly well( no track record of doing so) the current top 4 ( as well as Spurs and Southampton ) by bad (most already have a strong enough base they can afford the odd mistake). Once we've accomplished that hurdle we still need BR to start playing players in their position, hope he doesn't revert back to his lame death by football system and actually starts learning from his mistakes ( track record of 3 years making same mistakes).

Too many factors there for us to make it. It will be a Christmas miracle if we get there.

Then come Xmas he just let them all loose, pretty much the same as last season but it didn't pay off this time for him.

I know not everyone is pleased with Milner potentially signing but I just wanted to post something positive and forget about the managerial mess for a minute.

Milner is a top player. You might think he is very limited, but the truth is he can do everything well, albeit not much brilliantly. However when I say everything I mean literally everything. I think he has played everywhere except in cenre back or goal. One thing about him that is spectacular though his his decision making and his energy/passion.

Some people are probably thinking he won't add much going forward. Well here's a couple of stats. Milner got 8 goals and 9 assists last season in just 2700 minutes of football. In contrast Coutinho got 8 goals and 6 assists in 4000 minutes of football. No doubt Coutinho is still a great player and more entertaining to watch. But that does not mean Milner's ruthless effectiveness should be ignored.

Milner will rightly come in and instantly be one of our top earners. He is a title winning player proven at the highest level. Just last season he tore Bayern Munich apart.

The beauty of this though is simple. When one of your clubs top earners work so hard, it inspires the rest of the team to work harder. I felt we missed that this season. Suárez had an infectious tenacity about him. Hewould hunt down every ball and never give up. It inspired the rest of the team to see the most talented and well paid player putting in such a shift. In the same way Alexis Sanchez has inspired the Arsenal players into working harder.

Next season we could be looking at a midfield 3 of Lucas, Henderson and Milner. For the first time in years it doesn't look short of power and steel. Even if Lucas was to leave you'd hope Can or Maybe even Kovacic will be in there instead; once again both are powerful players. We might actually have some fight in midfield next season with Milner and Hendo driving the team on with passion and desire.

So why despair over signing Milner? Just because he is free? If he was under contract we'd be paying at least £15m. There is a reason City fans are annoyed the club aren't fighting harder to keep him.

Well even if you disagree, at least it took your mind off Rodgers for a few minutes.

Don`t say FB orr CB because he is wasted there as every man and his dog knows. This is why I don`t see the need for Milner especially at the wages he reportedly may be on. Our midfeild is solid enuff provided the right pegs are in the right holes, IMO but I`ll wait and see if The Maintained One has learnt his lessons. Also, the formation you mentioned does not account for Couts. Where`s he going to play? Play the right formation w/ the right players and we will flourish.

Ings is actually very hard working. He's less rash than Borini though. He knows how to press without just diving in.

He also has more pace, strength, and far better movement.

Borini in my opinion though has a better shot and can also head it better than Ings. Ings on the other hand Is far more capable with the ball at his feet and can actually beat a man.

I suppose the main advantage to Ings is he's a couple of years younger and qualifies as homegrown though because in terms of current ability, there isn't much to separate them.

He also scored a fair few at a shocking Sunderland from wide left. I like Borinis movement in the box his work rate,pressuring defenders and his tracking back. I've not seen enough of Ings to make a true judgement as to his tracking etc and pressuring defenders. I'm not entirely convinced his shooting is better than fabios. I really just don't see what extra ings brings apart from pace?

Caught radio on late drive home from work last night and were critical of rodgers and his signings, but then said he showed signs as a good coach because they saw our team as one of the worst they've seen and needs major investment.

Obviously have a few players we need to move on, but personally think our best starting XI is more then good enough to get at least top 4 and is maybe 1-3 top signings from challenging for the title.

The squad overall I think is really good (even if overcrowded in some areas), just have a few players we don't need. With the players returning from loan and youth players who could make I think we have a good enough squad to challenge just the manager I doubt.

Be curious to hear Eds take on on the squad's strength compared to those above us and anyone else's as well.

Believable6 Unbelievable1

{Ed001's Note - I don't see why they make up this nonsense. Our squad is certainly good enough on paper, we just don't use the players correctly. We have a top 4 squad if handled right. Chelsea are the only club with a truly balanced squad in the Prem.}

03 Jun 2015 11:59:18
i agree, our squad is actually pretty good. even with injuries, 4 4 2 diamond with high press would probably get the best out of our team in 14/15 season. oh and play lucas for gods sake.

but we kept going on and on with the 3 4 2 1, and playing everyone out of position.

Agree7 Disagree2

03 Jun 2015 12:09:58
I don't know what you see in our squad? The top 4 have better players in more important positions, it's simple!

Agree2 Disagree2

{Ed001's Note - Man Utd don't have any defenders worth the name other than Shaw, and he keeps getting injured.}

03 Jun 2015 12:41:50
Liverpools defence is no better though ed to be fair. Seems to be the downfall of both teams. City other than kompany and zabaleta are a defensive nightmare also. Chelsea's solid back line didn't win them the league but it certainly helped.

03 Jun 2015 12:52:09
But neither do we and we don't have all the world class midfielders and strikers they do

Agree3 Disagree2

03 Jun 2015 12:57:15
I still don't get where do you see a team with 4th position potential? We don't have a striker good enough for 8th position(par Sturridge who was injured the whole year). We have a young immature prospect in Sterling(who dribbles everyone but is awful in his last attempt) and a Lallana who does not set the world alight. Our defense is mediocre at best. Johnson is awful. Skrtel is so and so. Lovren is awful. Toure is awful. We have good but not top goalkeeper. The only ok player in our defense is Moreno. We had an aging Gerrard. We have a good prospect in Ibe. A headless chicken in Markovic. The only top players we currently have are Hendo and Coutinho. Now compare these players with United's, City's and Arsenal's. Then you will see the huge gap.

Agree2 Disagree6

03 Jun 2015 13:09:00
In fairness reckon Arsenal are 3 signings away from having a team as good as chelsea's that could challenge for CL.

City, defence is pretty poor bar Zabalata and Hart (Kompany has been poor for a long time). Midfield have silva but their regular starters (Nasri, Fernando, Fernandinho, Navas, etc) I wouldn't want - even Toure is more trouble then he is worth as just doesn't seem to care. Up front have good strikers (Dzeko, Bony, Aguero) but all best playing up top on their own and don't have players who suit playing either up top or wide of them.

Man U (apologise as imagine i'll be biased) only real star player is de gea (can argue ADM but poor this season and always been unsure of him). Have Rooney up top who is good but RVP looks done, ADM doesn't seem settled, matic is great behind rooney but seems to be played wide, and Januzzi has a lot to improve. Herrera and Carrick are really good players but rest aren't anything to write home about (not really a big blind fan) and agree defensively work well together, but individually don't rate any of them.

Personally I think we have some good defenders just need to be coached properly and play the best two (not skrtel essentially). Can, Henderson, & Lucas are all great players when played correctly. Attack wise; studge, couts, sterling (least while here), lallana, and ibe are all really good players - just think we need another forward who suits us, a DM to cover lucas, and if sterling leaves a more natural wide player and depending on what we get in think GK to challenge Mign would be good and depending on what happens a RB would help.

Agree7 Disagree1

03 Jun 2015 14:02:18
I disagree on our squad being poor. Our squad might be overcrowded in some areas BUT potentially, there is very good material to work with. With Can, Hendo, Lucas, Sahko, Sterling, Lallana, Studge (when fit), Couts, Ibe even Ilori (who can be great, IMO)and Toure who is quite good on his day as a useful backup, that is a good spine right there. Adding a fullback, a top striker, maybe a DM and bringing through the likes of Rossiter, branagan, Sinclair and Ojo should do it. The squad albei unbalanced, is there BUT severely undercoached and mismanaged by ironically, the guy who built it. They need to put in conditions to succeed and not played out of position and fail in coach`s bid to look like a genius. BTW, None utd`s CB`s are better than Sahko and their fullbacks are poor and not impressed with Shaw at all.

Agree3 Disagree1

03 Jun 2015 14:59:29
Are you people having a laugh? The only defenders who I can call better than Arsenal's, City's or United's defenders is Sakho and Moreno and this is still up for a big discussion.
Does anyone here compare Rooney, RVP and Falcao with Borini, Lambert and Balo? OR Mata with Lallana? Or Di Maria with Lallana? You people live in cuckoo land if this is the case.

FSG has said nothing. Ed 002has told us previously not to expect statements from FSG unless there is actually something to say.

FSG may simply be continuing with its review process. There is no need to part with Brendan straight away.

.they could be lining up the replacement as we speak. They may even have put in place arrangements with Brendan for him to go which are covered by confidentiality arrangements.

All I am saying is that give it a while longer before we see who the manager will be for next season. There is little information leaked these days with FSG in control.

Don`t really care at this point because the Ed02 gve us the info that pretty much, they choked on getting someone in and took the safer route to keep a failure in place. Even West Ham brought in Unai Emery for the coach`s job for an interview. Says it all, really. As for moving forward, good luck with that mate, as many fans on here are gutted while some on other sites are talking about turning in their season tickets. If you think this cowardly decision will energize the fan base them you are alone on that island. We are allowed to support our club and vehemently refuse to have failure shoved down our throats.

03 Jun 2015 11:36:35
Keep Rodgers, replace Gerrard with Milner, sign a RB so Can can play in midfield, this looks like Clyne.
Sign a proven goal scorer as that's what was lacking from finishing 4th. Replace outgoing Borini with Ings.
Use youth at club.
Sign back up keeper to replace Jones.
The sale of Sterling and Balotelli are essential.

Then I think it's as you were, hopefully last summers signings, the youth and our replacements will improve our squad. The striker signing and Sturridge fitness will be key as we do create plenty. The RB isn't essential as Wisdom has resigned.

This is my guess. I think with such a poor season, the loss of both Gerrard and probably Sterling will lift much expectation, our usual hope for a challenge. This could work in our favour for change maybe? Maybe less expectation equals less pressure? Could lead to similar season like the previous, sure it was Suarez etc but who knows.

Agree4 Disagree9

03 Jun 2015 13:14:53
Max what a ridiculously stupid post. All that was lacking was a striker? Leaving aside what he did with the 120million last summer, did you miss the fact we conceded 50 goals AGAIN? Let's have a little reminder shall we: 6 against Stoke, 3 against United, 3 against palace (twice), 4 against Arsenal. 3 years, hundreds of millions spent on defenders and other players, and the team's organisation is a complete shambles. These BR appeasers are really grinding my gears. Cloud cuckoo land post Max well done

Agree7 Disagree2

03 Jun 2015 13:47:54
@Essexred, Max has a RB and a backup keeper coming in. We already have an abundance of centre backs we just play the wrong one and the wrong system.

I don't think Max is spot on with everything myself but it certainly isn't a ridiculous post. A few bits he's mentioned appear to be correct like Rodgers, Milner, Ings, a backup keeper.

Agree2 Disagree3

03 Jun 2015 14:14:51
We had 3 right backs last season, 1 was injured but Rodgers still played a midfielder there for a considerable number of games. Manquillo isn't a world beater but he's a solid defensive rb and better than Can or Johnson. Rodgers either can't see that (sackable offence) or he played Can there to make some childish political point (sackable offence).

Agree2 Disagree1

03 Jun 2015 15:57:58
Maxx, were you in the meetings or did you just dream that up? Nonesense! Nobody knows anything because BR and the owners said nothing and will say nothing about the on feild "changes" because NONE was done and many of the fans are furious. No other club ahead of us would have kept him after his failures and the Stoke massacre would have been the last straw. in fact, NONE of these clubs would have let it go that far as he would have been sacked after the Utd game in nov. They kept a failure of a manager and that is all we need to know. I`ll beleive on-field changes when I see them. As for lifting expectations, good luck with your premise and getting top players in because IMO, the owners have rewarded failure and what fan base can get energized about that and what top player wants to come play here where there is NO ambition to challenge on the field? Get back to me when you can answer those with logical reason because excuses and fantasies are not logical.

P/S, I suggest you go check the comments` board online and see how other clubs` fans are hammering LFC as the biggest laughing stock of the moment with this decision. But clearly, the BR fan club don`t care about how dumb we look in public provided their BFF gets to remain a falure at this club

I never said all that lacking was a striker? I said a proven striker short of top 4. Think about those games we drew or lost by a goal, but we created a hatful of chances. The chances Sterling missed, Balotteli, Lambert. We had a 20-30 goal striker we could easily added an extra 10 points to our total.

I never said we didn't waste last seasons money, where does it say that.

Like everyone else on here, if the unconfirmed reports are true, then a feeling of abject disappointment will be rife.

For the first time in 54 years I will look forward to the new season with absolutely no expectations whatsoever.

No quality signings, but plenty of players with ' potential ', and then not given a chance.
No dreams of PL success, and not even expecting CL qualification.
Watching a team with no direction - and again probably not seeing the same side picked for 2 games in a row.
Players picked out of their natural positions, because they are obviously BR's favourites.

The one thing we will be guaranteed, we will all get embarrassed by the post match ( and pre match ) comments by the manager.

Again for the first time since I first stood in the Boys Pen at Anfield - I go into a season knowing what fans of mediocre clubs with no history must feel like.

I am genuinely worried about the direction FSG are taking this once great institution.

Believable25 Unbelievable4

03 Jun 2015 07:24:40
Well said John b

It's going to be a very long season

How on earth Rodgers has kept his job is beyond me, all that money spent and players bought yet majority are all played out of position.

The last 6 - 7 games last season where played with no desire or passion to win and we threw top 4 away. To me you could the players just didn't want to play for the manager leading upto what happened on the final day, which summed up our whole season.

I know its only paper talk but sterling to arsenal and we want another defender and a winger who for the last 2 seasons can't stay fit for more than 2 games.

My biggest fear with Rodgers staying is we are going to buy 4-5 square pegs to try and make them fit in round holes, then come Xmas FSG realise the mistake they made yet were already out of contention for top 4 again and a new manager is left with an even harder job.

Agree17 Disagree0

03 Jun 2015 09:51:17

The owners bottled it and we the fans may have to suffer the consequences.

Yuri- comparisons to Man city are ridiculous. Dr (dubious) Thaksin Shinawatra is a fugitive with no passport from Thailand. He was hugely corrupt when he was in charge as well. He tried to buy LFC at 1/2 value using his countries money, move on!
Like most I am exceptionally disappointed in FSG's decision to keep BR at the helm. IMO he has failed completely and needed to be moved on for the sake of our youth players and the club. I do not see us making progress under him, and I also think the transfer committee is a farce and the fact we are still using it will only cause us more pain! We needed a new manager and an experienced DOF!
So I am on record saying I do not agree with BR keeping his job, I want him fired and replaced. All that said the decision has been made. So this will be the last time I mention this. I will get behind the team and manager regardless of what I think of him. I hope he proves me wrong and I have to make a grovelling apology on here at the end of the season, but I seriously doubt it!

Rodgers is a failure and is destroying this club. They have also failed big time and even though they have invested in the club they are just to stupid to own and run it. They seem to have less and less interest and I for one can not wait till 2017. I don't care if the new owners don't have loads of money as long as they do what is right for the club. So it looks like BR will get another season. I doubt it is the outcome most supporters would have hoped for and I can personally see no logic in keeping on a manager who has under-achieved on so many fronts.
However, if this is the direction our club is going in this season then I will try my best to drop my anti-BR sentiments and give him one last chance to prove his worth. This doesn't mean being blind to his deficiencies or claiming he's the new messiah if we win our first couple of games but, if the decision has been made to keep Rogers on, there is more to be gained by offering support than shouting negativity.
Good luck for the new season, Brendon - I seriously hope you can prove all doubters wrong and turn the crowd in your favour.

Believable7 Unbelievable8

03 Jun 2015 02:19:38
This is a double whammy by fsg. Another mistake made by rookie advice. Mike Gordon knows little about football but this is most likely down to his advice. FSG have never tried to develop strong ties with the club meaning they have kept an unnecessary distance between them and the club and as a result football itself (apart from the business side I.E FFP). FSG have decided to keep Rogers in his position should he continue to work with the transfer committee. That's like a double negative. I know they have had good intentions, for the club but mainly for themselves, I hope they sell up soon and the successors have to know exactly what they are getting in to.

Who knows what will happen next season, but it's been a while now where I've been dreading a summer and wanting to see change at the clubs coaching staff so badly. You can say all you want about 'stop being negative' but there are major problems at our club and it's not only Rogers. Gary Nevilles piece in the telegraph is a huge wake up call and it's actually coming from the enemy. Many of us fans have said the same things. If that's negativity then get used to it.

I hope our club can succeed in spite of this show of cowardice BUT the hard questions are not being asked and i think weren`t asked by or to the owners. How will top players come here when you have BR as manager? How will some members of the squad he has frozen outor who are fed up with him due to his ego and feckless policies react to this? How will the fans take this? How could they allow him to continue, knowing full well he may fail again in six months and would have to sack him then hence, wasting a whole season? Answers, FSG?

i don't understand the owners keeping BR as our manager, they must be able to see that the team this season played some of its worse football in years and it does not look like its going to get any better, i think he kept his job because of injuries to our major players and the fact suarez left, but surely they must be informed that we played so bad because we had a manager who does not have a clue, last season he had all the money any manager could wish for and he blew it on lallana ballo and paying manquillo loan wages and then does not use him, its funny if our players have a bad game BR drops them but when BR has a bad season he does not get dropped, he shouyld use this with the players, also he would have said there's players coming back from long injurys like flanno and the loan players coming back to help the team, he had all the excuses ready for the owners, i don't know about ian ayres but he would have backed BR because it would have meant he failed,

with our management team i can only see us finishing outside the top 10, mike marsh is not a good coach, i will nopt be looking forward to next season with BR as our manager, i have always thought that the owners have done a great job since they have took over but this is one mistake that will come back to bite them and they don't know how much BR can take the club backwards, the owners have to come out and tell us the reasons why they have kept some one wh failed so bad in his job, also they have to tell us what they expect of him next season maybe then the fans will back their decision, if not then they don't care about us as fans and what we think, i'm seriously thinking of showing my anger at keeping BR in his job by stopping going to the game, i don't want to watch players getting played out of position again, i want the team to play with passion instead of the players just going through the motions on the pitch, stoke showed us what players playing with passion can do to teams, i can see the same thing happening at the end next season, BR saying to the owners the reason we came 12th is because we lost a liverpool legend in stevie g and the injuries kept sturridge out as well as the other injuries and also the new players were bedding in to the team, it will be the same reasons as he gave them this season, the future does not look so good with BR still in charge, the owners need to take some resposability

The season will continue as the last one finished. Stoke 6 Liverpool 1, with Crystal Palace doing the double over us.

Brendan Supporters go to Anfield and cheer for your manager.

Sensible anti Rodgers supporters go down the pub.

Don`t forget his favorite, "We lost Suarez". This would never have happened at the top 5 clubs ahead of us which is how you know these owners messed up, big time. In fact at these clubs, he would have been sacked since October and forgotten about it. But here, we have commitees to do reviews and come back with NOTHING but a validation for the very thing they were reviewing. So why have the review? Only FSG can answer that?

after reading a few news articles about BR staying the only thing that i can put it down to is sturridge being injured, for me its the blame for at least 3 major things that have happened because of his injuries and if he is injured again for the whole of next season then he can't be relied on and the position the club is in we need reliable footballers who will play all season, but with sturridge and his history with injuries then i am not hopeful

1 = loss of goals

2 = BR keeping his job

3 = sterlings contract negotiations, this is a tough one for people to get their heads around but think about it, if sturridge would have been fit and played all season scoring goals like last season then sterling would not have been know where near the strikers role, he would not have scored has many goals and he would not be thinking he is better than he really is, after all he is a 20 year old winger, he is not even the best winger in the prem and he is not a striker his number of goals he scored as our main striker is woeful, i do not think he will get much better,

so that's my reasons why sturridge being so injury prone has had an impact in unforseen ways, i think sturridge is a great striker when he is fit look at what he can do with a better player next to him and he stays injury free, i would also sell him if we can't get another season out of him, if he is going to be injured for all of next season then he is no good to the club he can't score from the treatment table unless the physio is a woman, but i'm being serious all these top sides don't have their star players injured all season, they get rid and get some one who is just as good if not better

Seeing as it's looking like we'll get Milner (no-brainer signing I think) and how versatile he is. just wondering what do people think would be his best position in our team?

I know he's known to prefer a central midfield role but if we keep playing a wingback system i think he would be an ideal RWB as he has a great cross and will defend his wing solidly and link up well.

Don't think anyone really made that position their own for us this season and would like to see marko and ibe used further forward anyway.

He can tackle but I don't think he's the CDM some make him out to be. i think we'd do well to sign a proper classy one.

On another note. sad to see it's not looking like there will be an improvement in how our transfer dealings are reported/leaked early in the media. Top clubs don't have stories in papers saying "we've more-or-less signed player X" they just sign them and announce them. hopefully there's some desire at fsg to tighten this up as it looks amateurish to me and i'm just a no nothing fan.

If Brendan has any sense, he would revert back to the diamond formation and use Milner and Hendo as box to box mids on either side of Lucas/Can. please do not even mention RWB or LWB on this forum. I do not want to see the team resort to desperation by going back to 3 at the back. But going by Brendan's cluelessness, i would not be surprised if Milner ended up as our 1st choice GK.

Banter please eds

So has Brendan got proof that Tom Henry is involved in the fifa scandal or something?? If my boss gave me a massive budget to deliver competition to the very best and I produced nothing but mediocrity and debts I don't think I'd be popular. I can only assume that they didn't fancy the huge payoff that he would have required and further promises have been made for success. I worry about the clubs future. That being said a midfield of Henderson, Milner and Lucas/can sounds good to me, dogged and full of energy all we need to do is make the Milner move happen, keep Lucas happy and stop playing can in defence. The clyne joke shows that we are planning to play a right back but personally I'm comfortable with we have at the club already. Benteke is definitely not the right man up top. Good player but not suited to us so save the huge fee and buy someone will compliment the players we have or use what we've already got. I don't see why we have so many advisors employed by the club yet we still appear happy to waste money. Maybe I'm wrong and there's something I've missed so please feel free to explain this to me!!

Two things for the ed's.

1. Is yarmolenko leaving this summer and if so who to, we showed intrest at one stage i'm just wondering if the deal towards PSG is the likely hood for him.

2. This one is aimed more at ED01, do you think there are any players out in the varios European ( that would come to us) who could bag 20 plus goals a year.

Havent used this site for years back when nobody had an acount, but i had to mention my feelings on todays result. It has something that has brought an extreme feeling of sickness. Now my problem with the current deliberation is, i personally believe that Brendan is 100 per cent not the man for Liverpool he is a poor manager who rode on the brilliance of Suarez last year. My issue though is is if we are to get out of the rut we are stuck in of finishing outside the top four we need money spent, i don't believe the current fsg place enough confidence in Rodgers to spend the money. I would personally rather they placed full confidence in Brendan and let him spend his way than are current situation. I would just like to ask the Ed's has the change in light towards brendan rodgers this season effected the amount of money that will be put towards buying players this summer.
Many Thanks

{Ed001's Note - no, the lack of Champions League football is the main issue affecting that.}

Well, Its the ultimate nightmare really.

Brendan Rodgers, the idiotic transfer comitee, the lack of decision making are the first three nails in coffin and the final nail will be the 30M pound signing of Benteke.

He will of course be sacked mid season but the damage will all be done by then in this summers transfer window.

This is lowest I have ever felt as a Liverpool supporter. Normally there's always a ray of hope but I see nothing but midtable for years to come.

50 years since I first stepped foot in the boys pen that used to take up a back corner of the Kop. Tonights news is not what I wanted to hear but kind of had a feeling would be the case. I may be wrong and hope I am wrong but I have this horrible feeling of resignation, resigned to the fact that we could struggle again next season. I honestly don't think Rodgers can improve (Again I hope I am wrong) His media presence is seriously flawed, His tactical sense is far away from the genius he thinks he is. His man management, something that was sold to us before he came to Liverpool as being one of strengths, has actually been one of his main weaknesses. I can't see where a drastic improvement can come from. FSG will have their reasons I'm sure, but for me as a lifelong Liverpool fan I can't see a reason for him to stay, and for a man that is always saying we have to pull together, fans, staff, owners and team I really don't think that has, is or will happen. I hope I am wrong. Massvely dissapointed tonight.

Many of us feel your pain, Shape. Like you, I have lost all hope for next season as I have almost nothing to be excited about cod like you, BR has nothing more to offer us and will go back to doing what he was doing as in, NOTHING. The fact that some of the good players we have as well as some in the staff are fed up and would like see the back of him, is what scares me the most. Lucas, Sterling and/or Sahko could leave and where does that leave us? The owners have bottled it big time and the fact that West Ham is bringing in Unai Emery for talks to replace Big Sam just made me even sicker. I would have loved him because he is a double European champion of the EL and would have been a good fit for us. The managers are there but they have bottled it by taking the safer route and chosen failure and mediocrity as the new face of our great club. I hope I'm wrong but this will not end well and the owners will regret this cowardly decision.

I here you mate, especially how he handles the media. And I would've loved having Klopp at the club but yeah the decision is made. I do still feel hopefull for next season, we have a decent squad just need 4 proper signings (like every season) that's why I'm badgering on about not signing average players like Milner. There's just no place in the team for him. We need to identify talent across europe, not look at players "that's proven in the PL" cause that criteria's a myth and fails more often than not! Rodgers has a philosephy that's settled into the players now. There was a time last season where we actually played very very nice football (strangely the same time Gerrard was not playing) so due to that I do think we can still have a good season but if we start bad, I'd give BR 2 months then give him the sack. Tell Klopp he's rested long enough and tell him to manage LFC.

If we sign Milner, I'm sure Rodgers will turn him into a great benchwarmer and play joe Allen wherever Milner could play.

Agree4 Disagree0

03 Jun 2015 03:42:58
Why would Milner be a benchwarmer? He is going to be our 1st choice GK next season to free Migs to play as a striker. Allen will be shoehorned into a CB, RB or even a GK as long as he starts. This is coming right out of Brendan's book on cluelessness.

If you know the guy is a failure and have an idea that he won't get better, why give him six months to screw up again? To do that would mean the season would be lost and what makes you think Klopp will come then? N btw, Klopp is not the only one who can coach us. West Ham is bringing in back to back winner of the EL Unai Emery for talks. You telling me that had we gone for him he would say no? Did we even try? The managers are out there but the owners have accepted to reward failure so BR is their prob now. For us the fans, LFC is our prob and we will stick with it.
