03 Jul 2017 22:46:47
I can't believe that I have again come to the site to see my beloved club has made another illegal approach for a player. I am disgusted in their behaviour and the way we are acting.

If we were to get a ban I would not be surprised but would actually back it, as controversial as this may sound. Maybe we would finally learn from it.

We are Liverpool and don't need to act in this way. I don't care about other clubs, just Lfc. It's wrong and we have become a joke to act in this fashion.

Believable11 Unbelievable17

03 Jul 2017 23:13:16
Absolutely bang on, so refreshing to read an opinion on here free from bias and childish remarks like "everybody does it".

LFC and particularly Klopp have embarrassed us all. I can forgive and forget but it has to cease, and I mean yesterday!

04 Jul 2017 00:02:42
Let's keep the daggers sheathed for now, until it is proven that it's been done a second consecutive time, shall we?

04 Jul 2017 00:02:55
Every club does it.

I think you're both being a bit dramatic.

04 Jul 2017 00:16:10
So our 3 big targets so far and 3 illegal approaches?

That's an impressive record 😣.

04 Jul 2017 04:20:30
Totally agree with Ra here.

IF we have broken the rules again, I am truly ashamed of my club.

But let's not walk around in sack cloth and ashes just yet.

04 Jul 2017 04:50:02
First there is no evidence that we have broken the rule again this time. Second from what I read in the past especially in autobiographies I personally believe it is true every club does that and we just need to be smarter and not get caught.

{Ed001's Note - no, we need to stop doing it. There is no need and it will cost us. I can't believe the moronic chants of 'everyone does it so we should too'. Shows how sick this world is, how stupid and pathetically lacking in morals you are when you talk this crap. For starters, not every club does it at all, most follow the rules, but of course a couple of (auto)biographies (which are not even written by the person concerned in almost every case and use plenty of artistic license by the author to make the story interesting) is a great way to decide what goes on.

If we had followed the rules, we would have had no issues signing VVD, as Saints had agreed to sell him this summer, he wanted to join us (before we tapped him up we were his choice), and neither Chelsea nor Man City were willing to go anywhere near the asking price. What we did, by cheating, was allow Saints to hold onto him or make us pay a hell of a lot more to get him. Win, win for them, as they can say they were willing to abide by their agreement with him but they couldn't sell him to us because of our actions.

Again with Salah, we had to agree to pay extra to push the deal through as Roma were upset over our actions. Again we had no need to do so, as the player was very keen to join us regardless of the tapping up. He had been very keen to join us the first time around but the club messed up then too.

Tapping up does not help us in any way. It sullies our reputation, makes clubs increase their asking price to us and makes it more difficult for deals to be done. What is wrong with abiding by the rules that so many people can't do so?}

04 Jul 2017 05:05:20
I'm sure if we'd broken that many rules by tapping up the amount of times it gets said on here we'd be banned from doing transfers a while ago don't believe everything on here.

{Ed001's Note - or perhaps it is just a very difficult thing to prove? Because that is the only reason we are not banned, no matter what you believe or not. Your belief is absolutely irrelevant.}

04 Jul 2017 05:46:04
I understand that we shouldn't do it and that just because others probably do it too doesn't excuse us. However, I can't understand the moral uproar on this. Isn't it just another case of football operating in a different world to the rest of us? This kind of recruitment (albeit quite often from a third party) goes on all the time? Headhunting and such.

{Ed001's Note - it is because Liverpool have a reputation to maintain, a reputation which is being destroyed and making business more difficult for us to conduct in future.}

04 Jul 2017 06:25:21
Dear Ed001 I'm very concerned with the issues you raised above. Isn't there someone or some way we can advise the club on the way this tapping up has ruined our reputation in the transfer market. Secondly, how much influence would the supporters have on how the club conducts business. Usually we are important. The general feeling on this forum is that tapping up is not good. We need this message to be put across to the club. Are you able to help us there?

{Ed001's Note - the club employs people to watch fans forums across the web, they will be aware of what is said. Unfortunately the running of the club is still as amateur as in the days when it was all run out of a room above a pub. Hopefully the new man will change that, but it will take him time to do so. You can't just change it over night.}

04 Jul 2017 07:30:57
If you can't believe the uproar about the issue, then I fear for you. This tapping up crap is really starting to get on my last nerves. I mean, how much is enough? What part of "tapping up is illegal" do these incompetent people at the helm, don't understand? It will get to a stage that clubs will simply not deal with us anymore and we can say good bye to signing players as our rep is shot right now. Good Grief! Sort it out, LFC.

04 Jul 2017 07:48:19
To me it's embarrassing. I remember when we used to carry out our business quietly and respectfully. Anyone else miss Peter Robinson? That man knew the business and didn't act like a d*ck.

04 Jul 2017 07:48:19
I'll make myself more clear. I do understand the uproar and that what we are doing is completely wrong within the context of football. I was just making a point that this kind of thing goes on every day in the real world. We need to stop it immediately though. Ed is right. Our reputation is taking a beating.

04 Jul 2017 08:25:39
It is indeed embarrassing, there's not much to discuss about it really, its wrong and it's damaging us as a football club, these owners need to start caring about the image of our club because right now we're in the danger zone this whole saga has made us look utterly stupid. Should we get punished for it (a ban) then we deserve it, there's no 2 ways about it. I understand defending the club to a certain degree but not with this, how can some of you defend such actions we've taken? its pathetic.

{Ed002's Note - The owners care very much about the image of the club.}

04 Jul 2017 10:00:33
With respect ed2 it doesn't look that way to me. You know more then me which is pretty evident, who would you say is to blame for all of this nonsense?

{Ed002's Note - For Christ sake move on. The owners are the ones issuing apologies all of the time. The owners did not tap up a 12 year old boy, ruining his career and plunging his parents in to debt. The owners did not brief the press to unsettle players at other clubs. The owners didn't make illegal approaches to van Djik, Brandt and Keita. It has been done to death.}

04 Jul 2017 10:46:30
In one word, Klopp.

04 Jul 2017 14:46:56
There is still a large portion of supporters outside this site who are ok with any kind of approaches. They have the same excuses as ". Everyone does it. "

03 Jul 2017 22:18:37
Eds, I think any posts that come in about Keita, VVD, Mendy or Robertson shouldn't be put up. Just for say, 24-48 hours.
It's the SAME rumour and SAME question about the SAME four players.

Believable8 Unbelievable9

03 Jul 2017 22:52:09
By your logic your post should not have been posted!

03 Jul 2017 23:10:08
So stop posting about viable options and post about fantasies instead? Okay let's see how this goes.

Ed002, any interest in Modric, Bailly, Alaba or Charlie Daniels? Just want to ask a different question so you guys don't get bored. Because I know how much you love questions about random players we aren't interested in πŸ˜‚.

04 Jul 2017 00:17:35
Is Ronaldo still looking to leave then?

04 Jul 2017 06:34:42
You can stay away from Bailly MK πŸ˜‚.

03 Jul 2017 23:50:44
Thought I would change it up a bit as well, not really LFC related but I got a giggle when I read this.

Ronald Koeman to report to Everton for a full medical after the club signed Michael Keane for reportedly €30m plus add ons.

πŸ‘€πŸ‘€πŸ‘€πŸ‘€πŸ‘€πŸ‘€πŸ‘€πŸ€•πŸ€•πŸ€•πŸ€•πŸ€•πŸ€•πŸ€•πŸ€•πŸ€•πŸ€•.

{Ed025's Note - its the going rate im afraid savvy, mad i know but thats the way it is mate, but its about the same as liverpool played for lovren and klavan which makes it a bargain i suppose.. :)

03 Jul 2017 22:07:45
Am I the only one that thinks Origi is not good enough. βœ‹πŸΎ
He was dispossessed of the ball A LOT of times plus he has poor positioning.

Believable6 Unbelievable17

{Ed002's Note - Well he is a Liverpool player - the fans are bound to think he is not good enough.}

03 Jul 2017 22:21:01
You are indeed part of the the "Origi out cos he's not yet Harry Kane and cos he gets dispossessed a lot" brigade.

03 Jul 2017 22:26:11
7 goals and 3 assists in 14 starts isn't too bad. He's a young lad and he has the tools to be a good player.

03 Jul 2017 22:39:41
I think Liverpool fans rightly expect the best players, and when some fall short we are within our rights to complain.

03 Jul 2017 23:05:31
I said when he signed he was a Belgian Welbeck. Too cumbersome to be a first choice winger, and not clinical enough to be a first choice striker.

He has kind of changed my views though. I still don't think he will ever start every week for us, but he reminds me of the old Chelsea forward Kalou. What I mean by that is he is happy to work hard in the background so he is ready when called upon, and can cover right across the front line to a decent level. All whilst never complaining and just being happy to be a part of something bigger. A dream squad player essentially who like Kalou did, gets goals off the bench.

I was very negative about his signing and I feel my concerns have been justified, but at the same time I also think I was wrong for not seeing the alternative option he offers. In short, I like him and wouldn't actively try and sell him.

04 Jul 2017 00:10:04
Funny you should say that MK, because that's exactly what ed002 said a while back when we were looking At him. Doubt him not! That said I think Origi is a good player to have in the squad and can certainly do a job currently and has everything to become a top player in future.

04 Jul 2017 00:19:33
He still only 22 not everyone can be a world beater at that age. We give up too early on players in the prem.

04 Jul 2017 00:32:21
Yes, Tegar you are one of the only ones. The rational fans realize he is young and still developing and will be just fine.

04 Jul 2017 06:40:20
I would have thought he made the position himself by now. He was picked ahead of Danny on a number of times. He has been average at best and is nowhere near to the level of Marcus Rashford or Gabriel Jesus. He wouldn't lead our line in my eye!

04 Jul 2017 11:13:48
Harry, how would he do that when Firmino is keeping him and your boy Studge out of the team? Also, comparing him to a much better player in Gab Jesus (again a non LFC player that only you care about) is just nonsensical. It's like comparing comparing Couts to your other non LFC fav David Silva whereas we all know that Silva is the older, more experienced hence, better player. As for Rashford being better than Origi? That's just wrong as Rashford wouldn't make the stands with the Belgian national team while Origi is second only to Lukaku in that team.

MK, there is no way on God's green earth that Welbeck is better than Origi. Origi possesses all the tools of a top CF with pace (the only thing Welbeck and Rashford have), power, aerial ability, footwork and superb dribbling skills, all the things Welbeck will never have. He is young and still learning so inconsistencies will occur in his game but if he can put all these qualities together then, he will be good for us long term. 21 goals in two seasons is not bad for a kid who came to us raw at 19 and even got Studge benched for a while before his injury vs Everton. BTW, you were the one who said that the Ox was technically better than Lallana so your opinion is just that, an opinion that is quite laughable. I rest my case.

04 Jul 2017 15:22:45
@if you know me: Sturridge doesn't really fit that well into Klopps style of play. He doesn't work that hard, he is too scared to make a challenge or really defend which is vital in the Gegenpressing style. He is just too lazy imo.

Origi has a decent skillset he needs to develop into more. I think he has great potential and works his a** off when playing. Firmino is still the better choice but origi is the no.1 alternative to him.

03 Jul 2017 21:32:25
One for Ed002.
What do you think of Baz Luhrmann - everybody's free to wear sunscreen?

Thought it would sound good on a future Sharkopod 😎.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Never heard of him Ron.}

03 Jul 2017 22:22:39
He's a movie producer and he produced the movie Rome and Juliet featuring a teenage Claire Danes and a dashing Leo Di Caprio. Whaty he's doing in a Sharkpod? Only Ron can answer that, Ed.

03 Jul 2017 22:40:20
God awful film that.

03 Jul 2017 23:43:21
Look after your knees, Ron, youll need them when you get older.

04 Jul 2017 10:33:01
If we pull of a big signing, it's important we don't congratulate ourselves too much, and if Coutinho leaves, it's important we don't berate ourselves too much either.

03 Jul 2017 21:30:33
Evening Ed's

Any news on Andrew Roberson?

Many Thanks.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - there is still interest Mc, but thats as far as its gone at the moment mate...maybe looking for better?

03 Jul 2017 21:05:07
Hamann has been eulogising about Keita. He's seen him play quite a lot and says the fee is justified (the article is in the Echo) . I actually buy it.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

03 Jul 2017 21:20:16
I get mine delivered.

03 Jul 2017 21:23:24
Not bad for 75p the echo.

{Ed025's Note - for wiping your arse maybe..

03 Jul 2017 22:05:45
Just another red top nowadays.

03 Jul 2017 22:24:36
The more pressing question is has the OP seen him play? If not, parroting other people's opinions is not the way to convince those who disagree.

04 Jul 2017 10:54:49
why buy it? you are obviously online.

03 Jul 2017 19:12:11
Been trying to figure out why Keita is such a priority given our midfield and was wondering if it perhaps means Klopp thinking about going back to a two man midfield and the 4-2-3-1 he played in 15-16

If Lucas leaves, only realistic options for he base of a 4-2-3-1 are Hendo, Can and Gini (and even he is perhaps more attacking in nature) so adding Keita would make sense, and a Hendo/ Can and Keita partnership would be very effective IMO. Can then play Coutinho or Llalana at 10, and Mane and Salah out wide, with Firmino at no. 9 to link play.

Hendo and Can were very effective in the double pivot until injuries broke them up - could we see a return next year if we land Keita?

Believable9 Unbelievable0

03 Jul 2017 19:26:12
I think we'll be able to "cater" for him πŸ˜‚πŸ€£πŸ˜‚πŸ€£πŸ˜‚πŸ‘.

03 Jul 2017 19:37:21
Keita is a Replacement for Milner at Left-Back.
Salah will play on the right wing WITH Mane, left wing will be sacrificed altogether.

03 Jul 2017 19:42:11
We will play three in midfield. Can at the base, Kieta and Coutinho on either side of him. Rest all will start from bench. With Kieta in the middle will release Coutinho to float around than being marked out by opposition players.
Keita will dictate the game from the middle. He will act as a proper playmaker.

03 Jul 2017 20:07:10
I'm favouring a 5-8-3 formation with a two goalkeeper tactic.

03 Jul 2017 20:52:12
Our midfield is very delicate.

We need a player like this.

03 Jul 2017 22:02:25
I think it will be 4 2 3 1 still with coutinho as a no 10.

03 Jul 2017 23:59:56
If we do play the 4-2-3-1, I expect Can and Keita to be the midfielders, with Salah, Coutinho and Mane up further, and Firmino up top. Looks balanced on paper, but with both Can and Keita both always surging forward, I wonder how often they'll leaving gaping holes behind.

03 Jul 2017 17:45:18
So there are idiots on twatshareer or whatever it called, having a pop at Salah for a post he sent over a year ago to a former teammate.
When did we become such a moronic set of fans.

Believable17 Unbelievable1

03 Jul 2017 19:02:10
I saw that too πŸ˜‚ un believable some people!

03 Jul 2017 19:12:15
I have to say, those idiots should hang their heads in shame, for one he was wishing someone well after a horrific injury that I for one wouldn't wish on anyone and two he posted it before he joined us. And even if he posted it while he was here, so what? Who wouldn't wish an old friend or colleague well after that. Anyone on here with twitter shoild go and put those morons straight.

03 Jul 2017 22:25:53
Not on twitter and for good reason.

04 Jul 2017 01:33:04
unbelievable jeff.

03 Jul 2017 17:29:19
I'm assuming we all expect a left back, centre half and midfielder to come I. This window, but who do people expect to come in. Just for fun by the way so what are people's ideas on this?

Mine would ideally be.

Centre back. Van Dijk.

Left back. Lucas Digne.

Midfield. Navy Keita.

Believable1 Unbelievable3

{Ed025's Note - navy keita hey jonesy...i cant wait till its his turn in the barrel mate.. :)

03 Jul 2017 17:59:14
Left Back - Robertson

CM - Keita ( clearly all efforts are being made )

CB - VVD ( I expect us to sign him )

03 Jul 2017 18:05:12
Navy Keita will ONLY sign if we bring in left back Lucas Dingy - you heard it here first!

Klopp wants a wave of new talent to keep us afloat on the champions league.

03 Jul 2017 18:03:43
Bit harsh ed025 lol. See youve sparked up pal now youve signed Keane and some Spanish farmer. πŸ€”πŸ€”πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚. The Eve are coming this season ah.

All in good humour ed. πŸ‘πŸ‘.

{Ed025's Note - we are on the march MR, there is a new sheriff in town now and he dresses in royal blue mate..be afraid..be very afraid.. :)

03 Jul 2017 18:25:56
Pity David Seamen is retired. Could have signed him as well as Navy Keita.

{Ed025's Note - love it liver..

03 Jul 2017 18:31:53
A sheriff more like a bandit lad πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚.

{Ed025's Note - all good stuff mate..

03 Jul 2017 19:12:58
VVD, Keita and Robertson would be fine.

03 Jul 2017 19:19:10
Who are Everton and who is Keane? Robbie? Roy? I thought they retired?

{Ed025's Note - the green eye of the little yellow god there me thinks MK.. :)

03 Jul 2017 19:23:56
All I want is VVD. Signing more midfielders, it seems pointless until we sort the Defence out.

{Ed001's Note - signing VVD will not sort the defence out. We need full backs first and foremost.}

03 Jul 2017 19:21:02
Will Navy Keita be captain?

{Ed025's Note - only if your ship comes in ron..and if not then frig it.. :)

03 Jul 2017 20:23:57
Ok you know I meant Naby.

{Ed025's Note - im afraid that ship has sailed mate..

03 Jul 2017 20:33:33
Lovw it ed25. You got wind in your sails, there's no stopping you.

{Ed025's Note - i do like to push the boat out now and again cyprus.. :)

03 Jul 2017 20:49:23
Is Navy Keita the new Ken Aguero.

03 Jul 2017 21:06:17
These puns are naughty. cal.

03 Jul 2017 22:07:32
Some people are brutal. The guy was only offering his opinion and now he is in some really rocky waters.

03 Jul 2017 22:47:11
Not signing a first choice left back! Milner is our left back. Robertson will be his replacement should he get injured.

03 Jul 2017 23:48:06
Awww everton fans are so cute, they think they'll be the first team ever to buy 5 plus new players and they'll instantly gel and take the league by storm goodluck with that but good for them on the speed of signings still don't think us or any of the other top 6 had any of those players on our/ their shortlist, just saying.

{Ed002's Note - You are making yourself sound a bit of a jerk. You need to get better at this banter thing - particularly if you are going to try and screw with the big boys like Ed025.}

04 Jul 2017 08:22:51
Screw with big boys?, come on now its my take on everton transfers, has the word cute offended? It's just an observation not banter, on my facebook and twitter, Evertonians are declaring a revolution, I say a few words and I'm being jerkish I just feel I could of said worse my apologise if it came across that way.

{Ed002's Note - As far as banter goes, the Liverpool fans are very poor at it.}

04 Jul 2017 10:48:44
Mendy and pereria should of been our signings. Along with salah that would of sorted us.

03 Jul 2017 17:00:02
What happened to the left back we recently signed last season and played for u23 a no he got injured but is he pressing for the squad or did he not get enough chances thru injury.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

03 Jul 2017 17:06:20
I think one of the eds said he is highly regarded but the coaches now see him as a centre back.

03 Jul 2017 17:08:47
His role was massively exaggerated and he will still be the u23 left back. Did he make the Spain u20 squad? Nope. did he make their u21 squad? Nope. Give him 6 months of u23 games and see where he gets but I doubt he will play more than 10 senior games in his lfc career.

03 Jul 2017 19:15:25
Cos he spent the latter part of the season jezza, Jesus some people.

03 Jul 2017 22:30:29
Maybe cos he's injured, Jezza. And even if he was fit and did not make their team so what? Have you seen that team with Asensio, Gaya, Deulefeu, Inaki Martins, Saul, Bellerin, Dani Ceballos (Real and Barcelona are in a bidding war for him)? Some our fans are a true joy sometimes.

04 Jul 2017 10:33:57
I watched him play in the flesh last summer for the then u21's against Milton Keynes. He played left back that day with Woodburn in front of him and Maguire as the centre back next to him.

The link with both players was good. Maguire always looked to shift it out to him, and with Woodburn constantly cutting inside it let Juanma get forward down the side.

My only concern that day was that Juanma was very quick to get forward, but his final pass was a bit poor, and he wasn't as keen to get back and help Maguire out. That is why the link there worked so well though as Maguire was originally a left back so was comfortable when pulled out wide to close down the winger.

Juanma also looked far too keen to go to ground in the tackle. On the day, he got it right every time but it was alarming how last ditch all of his defensive actions were.

I think that is why he has been moved to Centre back. Youth football is all about development and he could be a good left back if he learns to appreciate the centre back he is leaving in trouble. He could also be a good ball playing centre back though because whilst his final cross was poor usually, he looked very comfortable on the ball.

I am keen to see how he develops next season, but like Jezza, I very much doubt he has a long term future at the club. The best full back I saw that day was actually Sam Hart. He looked a menace when he came on. Hart rarely gets mentioned though because I think he is a right back and Arnold is quite simply better.

Of all the youth players at the club right now I think Masterson, Arnold and Woodburn are best placed to make it at Liverpool in my opinion. Things change quickly though. See Rossiter, Wisdom, Suso, Wilson and Ojo if you want an example. Dhanda and Brewster are well thought of but I don't see them getting a fair crack. Youth strikers always look good as well. Morgan, Sinclair or Nemeth anyone?

Virtue and Alves are both decent midfielders but no better than Brannagan who has fallen by the wayside. Grabara and Kelleher are good keepers, but so were Gulacsi and Ward.

The problem is, to get a chance you need to be exceptional and have a bit of fortune with regards to were the space is in the first team. We are weak in defence so players like Gomez, Masterson and Arnold have a very good opportunity to get chances. We also lack depth in wide areas so Woodburn will get a few more chances as he is the one truly exceptional player in the academy. I just hope his slight frame doesn't hold him back like it did Rossiter.

ed001 -

what were your thoughts on maxi Rodriguez and Fabio Aurelio as players?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - Maxi was a good player, very good on the ball but offered little in the way of defensive cover. However he more than made up for that by popping up with important goals regularly. Lovely control and first touch.

Aurelio was not the quickest but he was one of the best left sided players I have ever seen. His positional sense was world class, his left foot was excellent. The problem was that he was made of tissue paper and it would take him a few games to get going, then he would play brilliantly for a couple of games only to get injured in the 3rd and miss 6 months. That is when he wasn't rupturing his ACL playing with his small kids in the garden.}

03 Jul 2017 16:24:26
Aurelio, one of my favourite during the Rafa era. Even my wife liked him, but that was because he's handsome. My wife said that, of course, not me.

03 Jul 2017 21:08:12
Another case of Aurelio envy. Been there, My friend.

03 Jul 2017 22:17:05
One of the best left foots and deadball specialists I have ever seen. Brilliant offensively and defensively as well. I miss him and Finnan right now as they would be brilliant in Klopp's setup.

03 Jul 2017 14:57:11
Afternoon all, Eds is there anything in the fact that Leipzig have not included keita in their kit launch?

Believable1 Unbelievable2

{Ed002's Note - Yes, they are sending subtle messages to the Liverpool fans.}

03 Jul 2017 15:26:04
Loving the humour there Ed002, keep up the good work.

Baz.

great response ed:)

04 Jul 2017 01:45:32
That's exactly what I thought Ed πŸŽ‰πŸΊπŸΎ . I can't wait till he signs, thanks for the confirmation Ed002 πŸ˜ƒ.

03 Jul 2017 13:35:31
Ed01 who do you expect to make the step up this season from youth level like TAA and Woodburn did last season? My guess would be Yan Dhanda.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - I don't actually know this season. It could be anyone the way it is going. A lot depends on who comes in.}

03 Jul 2017 14:26:47
I would say Brewster but we are well stocked in the forwards and in midfield especially if we sign Keita. Perhaps a defender will make the step up although no one has really stood out to me from the defence.

03 Jul 2017 14:27:48
Keep an eye out for Masterson.

03 Jul 2017 15:41:16
Id love to see a LB coming strong this season. Having Milner and someone with huge potential (i don't know that much about our u23/ u21) would be allright for me if we are not able to sign someone.

03 Jul 2017 16:03:00
Completely agree with your logic DaRedMan. We are overstocked in midfield and up top now so youngsters will struggle to break in there.

I have suggested Masterson because as you say we are thin there. Gomez likely to go on loan, Lucas likely to leave, Sakho leaving for sure, Lovren and Matip injury prone. Klavan is the only reliable option there right now and he is not really good enough to start. So I can very much see a centre back getting a few cup games. Masterson is the stand out for me. Nat Phillips isn't bad but I think he lacks pace a little., kind of like Lloyd Jones did. Masterson has everything needed to make it though.

03 Jul 2017 16:35:03
Masters on plays for the U18s while National Philips plays for the U23s. Masterson might step up to the U23 level, but I can't see him being given game time for the senior team yet.

03 Jul 2017 18:48:43
Masterson was taken to la manga with the 1st team squad and trains regularly at Melwood. With Brewit now left. Masterson will move upto the under 23s with Critchley. MK correct Masterson well thought of by the staff as one for the future.

03 Jul 2017 19:00:38
Disagree slightly AG. Masterson was the U18's captain last season remember.

The u23's had Brewitt (released), Gomez (possibly going on loan) and Sakho (going permanently) . Nat Phillips will stay as it was basically his first season in the u23's but he wasn't really that impressive. Masterson on the other hand has the awareness, composure and leadership qualities our first team needs long term. I agree with you that Masterson will be promoted to the u23's initially but in the December-February period when the league and cups get a bit heavy on the first team I think Klopp will dip into his u23's again like he has done for the last 2 seasons and Masterson is head and shoulders above the rest of the centre backs in the academy for me.

He was on the bench for the cup games this season just gone, so I expect him to go one step further and make a few appearances. I think Klopp even took him to the mid-season training camp with the first team. Nathaniel Phillips is a good young player who will have a career at a decent level but I don't see his future at Anfield sadly. Masterson has that special something though. Injury forbidding, he will get a chance to make it here. Whether he takes it or not is anybodies guess.

03 Jul 2017 22:16:56
Academy need to recruit a left back!

03 Jul 2017 13:37:15
Naby Keita would be a great signing. It is shaping up to be the most competitive league EVER, so class players with to go along with our great football manager will help the quest in hunt for major silverware.

I do not wish to talk about players we were linked with who have since joined our rivals. Good luck to them. End of.

I hope for Aubameyang next but that is unlikely, so I would be just as happy with a classy LB. Mendy won't happen fromwhat i understand so perhaps Gaya or Hector would be brilliant.

To conclude. Naby Keita, Gaya/ Hector, VVD and Salah would be a fantastic transfer window. With or without Aubameyang/ Mbappe.

Just my opinion.

Thanks for reading.

03 Jul 2017 13:47:46
Hector won't leave KΓΆln. He is somewhat a true "kΓΆlscher-jung" as they say. He has played there for his whole (senior) carrer and renewed his contract last season. Whith european football coming to KΓΆln as well i can't see him leaving.

Mbappe, Auba and Mendy won't happen as well. Mendys wagedemants are just stupid, Mbappe will likely move to Madrid (also i can't see the point on spending 100+mil on one player if we need to work on a few positions), aube will most likely stay at Dortmund. He had 2-3 Clubs he would have gone to but Real had no interest this summer, psg ending interest after changing their director and milans purchase of Silva.

The most realistic transfers this summer will be the transfers of the ox and robertson. Keitas transfer will be an interesting one because we allways lowball and rb won't lower their price. It would be the best thing if the VVD won't happen after what happend.

03 Jul 2017 14:03:40
I hope sturridge will hit top form again this season just like the way he did it with Suarez!

03 Jul 2017 14:29:09
I agree with your post mate on everything but the Aubameyang bit. Where would he fit in? We have Sturridge, Origi and Firmino up top with Ings around as well.

03 Jul 2017 15:13:17
I think keita will be coming in to replace Coutinho. I really don't see the reason to spend 60-70 million on Keita. We already have a well stock midfield without him. We already have Can, Hendo, Lallana, Gini, Coutinho and Gujic. We need a LB more than anything so that requires sorting first.

Baz.

03 Jul 2017 16:06:34
To be honest Baz, that is the only way it makes sense to me as well. Keita would be a decent enough indirect replacement for Coutinho as he is better than Lallana in midfield, and Salah will replace Couts in the front 3. A midfield of Keita, Hendo and Gini looks well balanced.

I'd still prefer to just keep Coutinho though and drop him into midfield. He is on the brink of world class. It would be such a shame to lose him now.

03 Jul 2017 16:53:37
I don't think Couts is leaving, MK cos Klopp knows how valuable he is and like you, we need to keep our best players and get good players in to play with them instead of being a selling club. A midfield of Hendo/ Can, Couts n Gini/ Lalana would be awesome (had Keita's price not been thru the roof) . Now would Couts leave next season? Only time will tell.

03 Jul 2017 18:02:01
Selling Coutinho and buying anyone would be pointless. Did the hard work to secure the CL and you sell the player who made it happen. lol Klopp will face a riot from supporters. The club has money and they will distribute it for the incomings. I expect some decent recoup from sales as well!

03 Jul 2017 20:28:19
One player didn't make it happen.

03 Jul 2017 21:11:38
Reddaman isn't that like saying we have Messi here but Harry Wilsons in his way?

03 Jul 2017 22:14:51
We don't need Ox if we get Kieta. We would only need a LB and CB to come in after. Robertson would cost us nothing while I am not sure if we are looking at any CB's
Kieta - Β£70 mill
Robertson - Β£10 mill.

03 Jul 2017 13:08:07
I have read a couple of days/ weeks ago, that moreno was originally a winger and got converted into a LB. Any truth to that?

If that is true why aren't we trying to set him up as a winger? He has pace, istnt that bad on the ball and has a fairly decent cross and shot. Surely if he wants to he can be converted back into a winger at least for rotation purposes.

I might be one of the only ones but i think moreno is a decent player with some flaws that can be worked on.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed001's Note - he was a very poor winger, hence the attempt to convert him to full back. You don't convert quality wingers to play in defence. Sevilla has a history of taking struggling wingers and turning them into valuable full backs.}

03 Jul 2017 13:52:25
Thanks for the reply.

Moreno played only one year for their first team though and he was very young. Im not sure what players they had on the wings/ denfence in that time but it could have had something to do with the other players available at that time.

I would like him to stay because i think he is a decent player but he really has to work on his flaws.

{Ed001's Note - he had come through their youth and been assessed repeatedly and was always going to have to move back to have a chance. He can't cross, pass or shoot, that is not a good set of attributes for a winger.}

03 Jul 2017 14:18:10
Have to agree with Ed001. a lot of fans go. on about his ability going forward. But in fact he isn't that great often hitting 1st man with crosses or turning back and playing easy backwards pass rather than commit defenders. Seems a nice slightly mad guy but best for both parties for him to move on.

03 Jul 2017 14:28:09
I can't cross pass or shoot either, must be my lack of a ridiculous hair cut that's held me back πŸ˜‚.

03 Jul 2017 15:38:22
But if his crosses are that bad, why does he allways takes corners when he is on? Im not talking about their success rate just the fact, that he does kick a lot of corners when on.

If we get an offer around 15mio pounds (for some reason german keyboards don't have the symbol) we should sell him. Even if we don't sign a new LB we still have Milner and maybe someone with a lot of potentiall from the u21/ u23. btw Milner, statwise, was one of the top 5 LBs last season so keeping him as maybe our first choice is not the worst case imo.

03 Jul 2017 16:56:12
The guy is just flat out poor technically and lacks any type of football IQ, end of. You can't pass, cross, tackle or shoot. My old coach used to tell me that if you can't affect the game offensively or defensively, please tell me what the heck I'm supposed to do with you and why I should pick you.

03 Jul 2017 18:58:59
I agree. Would like to see him given another chance.

03 Jul 2017 12:50:45
I am of the understanding Liverpool made an illegal approach to Keita. Now I am all for getting quality players but I don't like Liverpool's name being dragged through the mud in the process. Surely we can go about our business legally and without reproach. Lessons have not been learned from last summer's earnings.

Believable2 Unbelievable11

03 Jul 2017 14:28:14
I haven't seen that anywhere apart from on this page so I don't see how their name is being dragged through the mud, all hear say.

03 Jul 2017 16:58:57
Its not hear say, Port. Ed02 has mentioned as much and if RBL takes up the issue, you can forget getting Keita or any other player for that matter cos LFC will be staring down the barell of a transfer ban cos for some reason, we can't seem to stop breaking the law against tapping up players.

03 Jul 2017 11:42:25
Morning Eds and Reds. I read somewhere the other day that zouma (spelling πŸ™ˆ) is surplus to requirements at Chelsea. Can any any Eds confirm if there is any truth in this. if so do you think he would be a viable option for us? And how do you rate him, from what I've seen he has great potential!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - We cannot be expected to answer questions about random players on the Liverpool. It just clutters everything up.}

03 Jul 2017 11:52:56
With silly season on the go, i've seen a lot of posts asking if our squad or some of our players, or targets are good enough to win the league.
Thus has got me thinking. What is a league winning side?
The last time man united won the league, that side was awful. So it could be said that fergie was the winning factor there.
Chelsea won it a few seasons ago, then a season later, with the same squad, they suffered.
So what makes a league winning side?
Some times you can have world class players, and still not win the league.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

03 Jul 2017 11:57:27
With luck on your side and a few referee's in your pocket and a team of well organised players and good depth in your squad you can win the league imo.

03 Jul 2017 12:19:28
It's usually the full combo, a good squad, a canny manager and a bit of luck with both injuries and decisions.

Sometimes everything clicks together though and an average team gets on a winning run that never stops. Think Leicester or us in 2014 (if we'd won of course) .

03 Jul 2017 11:01:09
More conspiracy - RBL have released a new kit reveal video. Keita not involved.

Believable11 Unbelievable0

03 Jul 2017 11:32:45
Unless every other member of the year is involved in wouldn't read much into that. Plus I'm pretty sure we use players who are possibly going to leave.

03 Jul 2017 11:47:34
We had the new Nivea advertisement released and Hendo isn't part of it.

03 Jul 2017 12:59:13
Do you think wiping out Milner with that giant foot thing is a sign ed? Seriously has anyone seen him since I'm getting a bit concerned.

03 Jul 2017 17:00:54
It's getting pretty desperate desperate right now regarding the Keita saga. Good grief!

03 Jul 2017 08:04:06
Have we or are we really settling for Robertson for left back? With Milner as cover.

Believable2 Unbelievable1

03 Jul 2017 08:48:21
That is what Ed01 has alluded to.

03 Jul 2017 09:26:45
Just reading about Robertson on this is anfield, an article written by a hull fan. he says he's a good player but has all the flaws that Moreno has. Not convinced after reading that, that this lad the answer. Doesn't fill me with confidence. Think I'd rather have milner. Why is it so hard to get a decent left back. im not writing him off by any stretch because I trust jurgen in the market 100%. He wouldn't be my first choice tho.

{Ed002's Note - To be fair he wasn't Klopp's first choice but he was ceratinly high on his list of alternatives.}

03 Jul 2017 10:13:22
Well, he might have one characteristic Moreno lacks. He might be teachable. Or willing to learn, however you want to put it.

03 Jul 2017 10:33:56
I havnt seen the lad play enough to comment much about him but surely we can get better (going on what others have said) . We're going into champions league and we're going for Robertson. To be honest it makes no sense to me. This transfer worries me but I was also worried about Mane. Look how that turned out, I trust Klopp.

03 Jul 2017 10:52:08
That teachable or coachable quality which Moreno lacks, might be the very thing that puts Robertson over the top, IMO Andy as he may not be great BUT if he is willing to learn then he can get better. Good LB's are like good CB's. They are very hard to find and those who have good ones, don't sell and won't want to sell except for stupid money. This is why Mendy (who is defensively very suspect but great going forward) is going for 40m. But with Milner set to stay at LB next season along with the in-coming Robertson, we may have to make do.

03 Jul 2017 10:58:18
Milner to right back please.

03 Jul 2017 11:43:04
Most probably YES! We are spending big on elsewhere.

03 Jul 2017 11:49:42
I expect this comedy circus of ". Finding the Right player. " to extend beyond 2019. Every other clubs sign their first choice except ofcourse us. We have been trying to find the right Left Back since?

03 Jul 2017 11:49:57
Robertson would be good in a 3-5-2 system as the LWB since his attacking play is at least an improvement on Moreno, but his defensive side is glaringly lacking. Its because of these deficiencies of our full backs that our CBs get pulled out of position so very often. Very disappointed that addressing both full back positions as first priority was not realised by Klopp whilst willing to spend big money on players that play in positions that could put our actually quality players on the bench.

03 Jul 2017 12:47:57
Harry, what on earth are you talking about?

"Every other club signs their 1st choice"?!

You can't honestly believe that. You're being very petulant and throwing the dummy out. Every club DOES NOT sign their 1st choice every time at all, that is simply not true mate.

03 Jul 2017 17:04:49
Harry, if you were right (which you are not), did Chelsea (your club of clubs) sign their first choice CB in Bonnuci last season (had to settle for D Luiz) and this season then (may settle for Ruddiger)? You sound as petulant as my 2 year old, bro.

04 Jul 2017 01:48:16
Dear god BR at times you sound like a teenager. Everybody is entitled to their opinion, bro.

03 Jul 2017 02:10:12
Really shocked at why a top prospect like Ruben Neves would go to Wolves. of all clubs. Is there a chance we could agree a last minute deal? We could sign him then loan him back to Porto like we did with Grujic.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - why would we?}

03 Jul 2017 05:48:54
Don't you know by now ed? We are supposed to try for every player good or bad irrespective of position, once they are close to agreeing to a transfer somewhere else.
Wait till the "Lacazette to Arsenal, Why aren't we trying? " posts to start.

{Ed001's Note - apologies Reet, old age is catching up with me and I am forgetting that is how it works. I keep thinking we should be just buying players we need, silly me!}

03 Jul 2017 06:00:05
A defensive midfielder ( Good or Bad ) . Liverpool don't play with ONE!

03 Jul 2017 07:49:06
Neves to Wolves is indeed one of the most shocking transfers I can think of. Very highly rated player by the likes of Chelsea, LFC, PSG going to Wolves is just mind boggling. I doubt Wolves can even pay a ridiculous sum of money to Neves to make him even consider such a step down.

{Ed001's Note - why is it shocking that a club owned by a company that Mendes owns part of has brought in one of the players represented by him? What is more of an issue is that an agent can get round the rules on 3rd party ownership by owning a stake in the company that owns a club.}

03 Jul 2017 07:55:10
It's alright Ed001. When you're like a 100 years old and having to deal with all the whining and repetitive posts here, I can't see much hope of you retaining your memory.

{Ed001's Note - explains why Ed025 can barely remember his name.}

03 Jul 2017 09:40:58
I thought you where all called Edward? πŸ˜‰.

{Ed001's Note - some are called Edgar.}

03 Jul 2017 10:10:37
Wouldn't the Game of thrones fans be called Eddard?

03 Jul 2017 10:53:17
Or Edson or Eduardo.

03 Jul 2017 11:52:54
True that Ed001, but doesn't the player have any say in where he will end up? Surely Neves could have said no to Wolves? Its a big step down with no regards to his future career. A move to a mid table BPL club could have actually been a damn fine move for him to catch the eye of bigger clubs as well as prove during the time being that he was capable of hacking it in a physical league.
MOving to a championship club makes no sense for a rising star that has already starred in the UCL and Portuguese league.

{Ed001's Note - he could not get in the Porto team, no Prem team was going to sign him. This was the best move he would get.}

02 Jul 2017 23:58:02
Is there a possibility of returning to Jonas Hector to solve our LB problems? Available for 20 million.

Believable8 Unbelievable0

03 Jul 2017 01:52:02
Really don't understand why we haven't looked at him, so much better than the current options.

03 Jul 2017 02:14:40
Reading interviews of the player, I wouldn't think he wants to go anywhere.

03 Jul 2017 02:56:49
Definitely a better option than the hapless Robertson. But Bertrand would be the ultimate LB solution, no idea why we have not pushed for him.

03 Jul 2017 06:00:55
Should have sealed Kolasanic. He will become the best left back in the league. Free signing!

03 Jul 2017 07:18:47
I watched Hector giving the ball away for fun last night.

03 Jul 2017 15:50:37
I'd be happy aslong as we sign a quality left back I don't care who it is it has been our problem position for years and I don't understand why we have never sorted it out. Really don't think Robertson is the answer and could be another Konchesky.

03 Jul 2017 17:19:09
I know the Ed's have said he'll be going but any chance Flanno could still get a shot at either fb slot.
Does anyone know how his fitness is now.
Boom.
