Ed001, is Bernard available? He did just move to Shaktar, says he only has 8 apps, interesting prospect though, chhers.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - it was a mistake on my part, I was referring to the left back from Chelsea Bertrand.}

Do people think we should play aspas tomorrow night? Also looks like Ibe and Lloris maybe in the squad. Possible yersil to start warming the bench?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

BR confirmed that Aspas is not ready to start yet. Aspas has only been back in training since last week.

Aspas and Alberto should be on the bench with Moses. I can't see Ibe, ILORI (NOT Lloris) or Yesil making the bench.

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't remember Liverpool buying spurs' goalie

Agree0 Disagree0

Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing a place on the bench for Jiao Texeira. He's been playing very well for the U-21's and could give Coutinho a rest with 20 mins to go if things are going well.
I'd give Raheem Sterling a break and maybe bring back Sakho and Agger. Toure at DM to give Lucas time out wouldn't be a gamble given the quality of opposition over the next 2 games.

". Just watching West-ham. Jesus. they are the worst team after palace. Poor downing once played at Anfield is playing alongside some headless chicken and he himself is playing like one.
By the time Caroll starts Sam would get sacked.

Ed001 who do you want Liverpool to sign keeping in mind let's try keep it realistic

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - Salah looks a good prospect and I wouldn't be too upset with Bernard either, but I think our main requirement is central midfield, so I would have him right down on the list of priorities. I wouldn't mind Rakitic, I can't really think of anyone else who would be considered realistic, off the top of my head, to be honest.}

Been honest I would take all them right now heard good news about rakitic but not sure what type of midfielder any player he is similar to

Agree0 Disagree0

Bernard moved to Shakhtar in the summer Ed001.

Rakitic is a good shout, and is a player we have had an interest in according to Ed002. Hernanes of Lazio would be my choice.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I meant Bertrand, not Bernard sorry.}

I hope for rakitić :)

Agree0 Disagree0

Ah got it Ed001. Yeah, Bertrand is a decent player, but is he someone who can push Enrique?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I am not a fan of Enrique personally, he loses possession far too often and always tries the same things. Plus he gets caught out of position too much for my liking. Bertrand should be able to offer a different kind of option, plus he can play left mid as well.}

Completely agree on Enrique ed001, seems to just have lapses in concentration far too often

Agree0 Disagree0

Every one of our starting 11 has lapses in concentration far to often.

Agree0 Disagree0

What about Montoya ed? Can he fill in on the left back as well, or is he a seperate target from Bertrand?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - he can but he is a separate target for the right.}

Remember reading a while back that johnson is guaranteed first team football in his contract. Can eds or anyone remember him starting on the bench?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Cant be true!
We were all dying for him back when he got injured not so long ago

Agree0 Disagree0

Its rubbish, there is no such clause.

Agree0 Disagree0

How do you know? He's always in the team, left or right. Sounds plausible to me. Something Rafa would do

Flanno, Kelly or McLoughlin right back, Johnson left back AT MELWOOD, just my opinion

Believable0 Unbelievable0

03 Dec 2013 18:22:28
For the Next 6 months. Johnson would play at RB and then straight to Brazil. This would his last participation for the world cup.
Kelly wouldn't even make it to the bench.

Agree0 Disagree0

Nothing to do with the world cup to rogers

Agree0 Disagree0

Harry, I don't think our Northern Irish manager gives a toss about the England squad. It is his duty to select the best possible squad available to play for three points.

Going to match tomorrow so was curious as to what formation/team people would like to see? Would like to see aspas up top with saurez coutinho behind him and the norm midfield three. With flanno sakho agger and Kelly. Personally would actually like hendo/Lucas holding with gerrard saurez and coutinho supporting aspas but don't think BR would realistically do that. Think we need to see if aspas can play up top similar to sturridge because saurez plays much better given the freedom to drop deeper and make things happen. If we get an early lead think Alberto, Allen, and Ibe or sterling should get some game time. Thinking either a 3-1 or maybe a cheeky 5-0 bet, trying to stay optimistic

Evening eds. Everyone keeps raving on that Liverpool are nearly the real article. I really hope we are. In your opinion being the man in the know. How far from this would you say we are?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool have been playing well all year. They should be capable of being in the mix for the 4th and 5th placed European positions.}

Ed002, with the consistent slip ups by those all fighting for the top 4, do you not think that Liverpool could get 3rd or even 2nd this season? Or do you see us having these little slips all season? Personally, I agree with your original statement about 4th or 5th. No harm in reaching for the sky though eh?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I will stick with what I have said all along.}

Just wondering if anyone agrees that we should try switching Johnson and Flanagan? When Johnson previously had a spell at lb, it seemed to focus him more, and Flanagan is a natural rb. Anyone agree or is it just another one of my daft ideas?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

How about just play Kelly at RB and switch Johnson LB while we have injuries.

Agree0 Disagree0

Perhaps if things aren't going well. I'm hesitant to want any more change at the back than we've had.

Agree0 Disagree0

While I agree Kelly should be playing I don't see why Flanagan should be dropped instead of Johnson. In Flanagan's last two games the lads hardly put a foot wrong, where as for years Johnson has looked lost on the pitch, ranted he's had a few good games in that time but he's a liability at best, if it wasn't for Lucas constantly covering for several players lack of defensive responsibility top four would be a pipe dream.

Agree0 Disagree0

How many times do people have to be told KELLY ISN'T FIT enough to play in the premier league before they realise?

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm with you, always a red. What exactly has Flanagan done wrong to deserve being dropped? What sort of a message does it send to the young players that when you get a chance and take it well, we'll drop you anyway? If anyone should not be playing Wednesday, it would be Johnson. I don't know if his head is focused on the rumour mill or what, but his last couple of performances have been awful primarily for their sheer laziness.

Agree0 Disagree0

Or, we could just play Cissokho as perhaps, he just needs a run of games to get himself to an acceptable level.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah 'i think in the last 2 games flanno has done enough to merit staying in the team. The main issue is at centreback as I think it needs tinkering again. Interesting to see if Rodgers reverts back to Sakho.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Dec 2013 14:02:14
Ed, how is Kelly doing is he fit and available to play yet?

Red Rum

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - As far as I know, he is available.}

Cheers Ed.

In that case, We should start getting Kelly back into first team football. We have some big games coming up and although Flanagan has been ok, I am still not convinced he is the best man for the job.

We should play Johnson at left back and Kelly at right back. Even though Johnson has been awful he seems to do a decent job at left back.

I would also like to see us try Agger and Sakho at the back, or if we play 3 at the back Skrtel, Sakho and Agger.

Although I don't like playing 3 at the back it has been effective for us when used this season and it also worked for Hull against us so maybe that is the best option.

We should also play Aspas up front with Suarez. When he has played this season he has been good off the ball pressuring the opposition. I would like to see if he can add something when playing in his favourite position. If he isn't going to play when Sturridge or Suarez are out then there is really no point in him being here.

Finally, It is all well and good saying we need to buy this and that player in january, but right now we have to concentrate on getting to january accumulating as many points as possible from our next 6 vital games.

We had an off day against hull and maybe underestimated them, but time to regroup and bounce back against Norwich tomorrow.

Red Rum

Agree0 Disagree0

Well said mate, Kelly should be playing ahead of Flanagan if Fit with Johnson switched to LB, we have seen many different partnerships at the back so its now time to give Sakho & Agger the chance to play together and if we play 3 at the back then just add Skrtel, I really want to see more of young Alberto when he's played he's looked very composed and intelligent on and off the ball, Aspas should now get his opportunity with Sturridge out and hopefully we give Norwich a very good hiding and have a good festive period to keep us in the mix for the Title/Top 4 however ambitious that might seem.

Hi eds & fellow reds just wanted to know your opinion on the fact I think the club should be looking for a defensive coach as the current staff don't seem to have a clue how to set up the defence & that problem goes right through the club not just the 1st team. I also think that brendan has done a fair job so far but need to step up now & show us how good a manager he really is after sundays horror show. a lot of the blame for sunday lies at his door for the team selection & his persistance in playing 2 defensive midfielders & how glen johnson stays in the team is beyond me give his lack of desire. I also cannot understand changing the formation this year after playing the most exciting attacking football i'd seen in years the second half of last season

The Moment Johnson gets dropped from the starting 11. He would loose his place in the National side. same goes with Gerrard. So no chance both getting dropped this season.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - So Liverpool pick their side based on the National team? It eally does not work like that at all.}

BR doesn't have the balls to bench Stevie. Not many managers would, sadly that's what separates the great managers. Fergie would of dropped them like he did with Rooney ect when they wernt producing the goods

Agree0 Disagree0

Defo right about gerrard not getting dropped, he's viewed as mr Liverpool by an awfull lot of fans and is also england captain (in a world cup year) for BR to drop gerrard at any time would take big kahunas, but to drop the england captain in a world cup year, no matter how poorly he is playing, NO CHANCE,

Agree0 Disagree0

The problem is if BR drops Gerrard for anything other than a minor cup game or injury and we underperform, most of the supporters will be calling for his head. Very much a lose/lose scenario for BR at the moment. I still say simply push Gerrard forward and let Henderson/Allen sit deeper with Lucas and most of the issues will disappear.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Dec 2013 17:50:24
ED02, . You are a Chelsea fan you know what player power is. why was Gerrard made the England Captain at the age of 33 when he deserved 10 years back?.
Roy Hodgson was in charge of Liverpool Once.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - You mean in your view he deserved it 10 years ago. He got it because he was the best choice for the job.}

03 Dec 2013 18:18:02
Yes. How can you make someone captain whose 34 and couldn't play a full 90 mts and would pass the arm band every 60 mts in the match.
That's total Rubbish. He has past his best and he was lethal 4-5 years back.

Agree0 Disagree0

Don't see how Swansea is "completely different" we may be slightly better than them or "should be" but on the past performances against them there's not much between us i'm sorry to say, still mate my point was 1, if we don't give younger players some time in the first team we will never know if they are good enough 2, who really knows what reason Teixeira left Brentford? probably never find out, the lad is class, he is better than any player they have! 3, we should play the younger players from the bench when we are in a commanding position and winning, unless we are short through injuries, 4 best wishes Irish Rover.

Agree0 Disagree0

However poorly stevie plays to drop him would definitely harm morale

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Dec 2013 11:53:13
@The Irish Rover, Shelvey did ok against us the last time we played Swansea don't you think? and I would say he is doing very well for them.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Yes Jackthelad. Swansea is Swansea. Liverpool is completely different, or it should be at least.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Dec 2013 11:35:45
Hoping we play Allen Alberto and/or aspas no point signing players to sit on the bench there ready do it

Believable0 Unbelievable0

03 Dec 2013 11:34:01
@The Irish Rover, yes it is a big step up, but if they don't get the chance how will we know? as for Teixeira, have you been to Bradford? haha! the lad had only been in this country 5 minutes and was sent there! I don't blame him for wanting to come back, maybe we should just let the young lads stay where they are then give them to lower league clubs for nothing and buy top dollar players for huge amounts.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I don't think he "wanted" to come back, he was sent back.

Agree0 Disagree0

You can only try out younger players once you have a winning team, with consistent form, I think for now the manager need to tinker less get his best 11 available out for few games (even against lower ability teams), once we get a decent run of form, then he can try and experiment with the younger players. Sterling (and he is semi experienced) struggled against Hull and look what happened, I am not saying its his fault, the problem we had that we were light upfront and allowed them to come at us again and again, the result we conceded 3 goals.
BR had very little options but to include Sterling in the starting line up, Aspas not fully fit yet.

Agree0 Disagree0

Point of order - Teixeira went to Brentford, not Bradford. As for the first team, they've just been to Hull and back.

Agree0 Disagree0

Classic Delboy

Agree0 Disagree0

To be fair its a rough league his type a player can find it hard he would do better in the PL probably I no it sounds silly but his qualitys suit better at a higher level or may different country

Just re-watched the highlights of the weekend and watched Mata for Chelsea, what a class act, great delivery from set pieces, really top class passing, great with the ball at his feet taking on players.

If Only .

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Work rate is a major problem though.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - not true, Mata works hard, he just doesn't defend.}

Hai Eds. Mng and Good day ahead.

Cabaye is the type of player we needs to target and I would go to get him rather than another gamble from italy or spanish 2nd or 3rd division.
Arsenal had 10 mill bid rejected. 12-15 and cabaye would come.

From past 3 seaosns we have only seen Lucas in the DM position, He has been a pretty good, But he has been pretty poor after the injury and its been almost an year.

This is another position we need to adress. a strong Powerful quick DM would ease the pressure of the playamakers and CM alongside.

I am sure we would see the differnce If we get a new DM, Sandro would be a good choice.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I'm interested in why you rate Cabaye so highly H. For me he lacks consistency and pace. When the going gets tough (as it often does at the toon) I rarely see Cabaye making an impact.
I reckon Newcastle would ask 20 million for him after they called Arsenal's 10 million 'derisory'. He's not worth that IMO, we can get better for 20 million.

Sandra is a decent player, Spurs won't sell him to us.

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't think he would be interested harry? I hear he favours a move to united or to london!

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Dec 2013 10:36:44
Cabaye for two reason.
1. Proven in PL and would be relativly cheap than any other super stars some fans here mentions. pastore, blah blooh etc.
Cabaye is a good player and has got good skills he has got pace can shoot and is a good passer.

2. Do you honeslty believe BR woudl spend on a good player, given 20 mill?. He would go down all the way to Italy and get anothere 2nnd division player and would want him to turn into next Countinho. we must do everything to get into top 4 this season.

Agree0 Disagree0

Think you're imagining the fact that Cabaye would be cheap.

Agree0 Disagree0

For 20 million you could probably land alexis sanchez, miralem pjanic, steven defour. All of whom in a creative Role I would much prefer. Alexis would play wide and allow coutinho into the middle most likely, but this I'd still take ahead of Cabaye

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Dec 2013 11:47:24
First time I've said this, but Harry is right, we need another DM in January.
Whether Cabaye is the answer I'm sure I don't know,
I'd rather Diame, he'd be half as cheap, and would add an element of bite to our midfield we've been missing since Sissoko.
Having said this, Rodgers attentions I believe are firmly fixated on Wide Fowards.

Agree0 Disagree0

We need a CM that creates and scores goals. Ivan Rakitic would be perfect for me.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Dec 2013 17:51:46
Alexis Sanchez for 20 mill?. God save us.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think Rodgers spending is improving and I would trust him with 20m.
He had Costa and Mikhtaryan lined up in the summer and they would have been great signings.
20m for Cabaye is way too much. I don't think he is proven in the premiership. Proven to score the odd long shot and proven to go missing when NUFC need a boost.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Dec 2013 21:14:52
Hi eds, is there any truth in the rumours that LFC have agreed 25m for stephan el shaarawy?
Thanks

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - No.}

03 Dec 2013 01:22:44
Time for Aspas to step in and prove he is worthy, (if fit) maybe we should consider Yesil at least for the bench, Manchester United play young players why not us? I mean this kids got goals in his blood.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Completely agree, dying for him to get some 1st team minutes. he deserves it after that awful injury and then coming back and can still find the net in the u21's. natural finisher, although I guarantee he won't be on the bench, I just don't know why rodgers doesn't put him in the matchday squad.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd say its something to do with say sterling not been able to it rogers is probably a bit weary after that!

Agree0 Disagree0

Yesil isn't quite match fit yet.

Agree0 Disagree0

If he was proving himself in training, he'd get a game. U21's is a world away from being good enough.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Dec 2013 01:18:33
the under 21 side have some very talented players, whom I feel are ready to step up and be given a chance for the senior side, the problem is we don't have enough games to give them their chance! we were unlucky enough to lose against the mancs and so that avenue was cut off, we can't afford to drop points in the league it's too important, and we need the revenue from the FA cup as well as the glory, so a very difficult time for the younger players, but who knows.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Teixeira, Brad Smith, McLaughlin, Yesil & Ngoo should get a little action in my opinion, not all at once obviously. Also can't wait for our best U21 player Marc Pelosi to come back.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Dec 2013 07:46:08
Teixeira, Brad Smith, McLaughlin, Yesil. these 4 would replace. hendo, cisshokho, johnson and borini/aspas anyday.

Agree0 Disagree0

With any luck ngoo will be the next one on a loan to buy!

Agree0 Disagree0

Teixeira got shipped back by Brentford early so what makes you think he will cut it in the Premier League?

Agree0 Disagree0

Also Ngoo hardly set the world alight in a semi proffesional Scottish league. Some of you boys are just throwing out names. Its nonsense.

Agree0 Disagree0

Just to add. I made a few posts how Shelvey stood head and shoulders above the other players when playing for the reserves last year. Yet he was no where near good enough for the first team. I don't think you fully understand the step up required. Look at Sterling for instance as some one struggling to cope.

Agree0 Disagree0

Irish, I don't think Rodgers utilised Shelvey well enough. Swansea is getting the best out of him in that role in the hole
