Echo reporting Firmino and Benteke are injured ed001 and didn't train today? I thought everyone was fit? Or is it just the Echo getting it wrong?

Believable1 Unbelievable2

{Ed001's Note - I said they are expected to be back at the weekend, not that they would be fot to train all week.}

31 Mar 2016 21:57:13
I wouldn't take any risks. Allen had a good half against saints, and would be better In a midfield three. I'd do Allen in front of Hendo and can, lallana and coutinho in behind Sturridge. Spurs have three in the middle and we should match them to avoid the same outcome as saints.

31 Mar 2016 22:34:21
Ex 01.?

31 Mar 2016 22:35:02
You'd do Allen in front of Hendo and Can? I know footballs a spectator sport but that's taking it a bit far don't you think Fencey?

01 Apr 2016 00:31:37
Fencey, Allen ahead of Hendo and Can makes no sense. He is an impact sub at best and is not a goal nor assist threat so like Brenda said, you're taking it a bit too far.

01 Apr 2016 00:41:41
Yeah make them watch, Brenda!

01 Apr 2016 01:44:18
I think my post went over your head redohio mate.

01 Apr 2016 07:36:21
Trying to install a bit of discipline in the new recruits Brenda?

01 Apr 2016 04:04:08
Milner would be playing along with Can and Hendo.

31 Mar 2016 20:08:34
Hi eds. I just wondered with all the questions surrounding our GK, the hype around Ter Steggen. Do we have or have we shown any interest in the German or Swiss keepers Sommer or Zeiler? Both are better keepers than the aforementioned Steggen in my opinion but just play for less well known clubs so possibly cheaper. Admittedly most of the hype has been from fans or press!

Believable1 Unbelievable2

{Ed002's Note - No.}

01 Apr 2016 18:38:25
Have an agree just for using "aforementioned" in a post.

I doff my hat, sir!

31 Mar 2016 16:53:03
With all the talks of who's coming in and out has everyone forgotten about Allan when there talking about the midfield for next year looks like a good talent or is his work permit still being held up.

Believable0 Unbelievable2

{Ed002's Note - He doesn't qualify for a work permit at this time.}

31 Mar 2016 18:09:38
Thanks ed002 looking forward to see him play here's hoping for a good summer window plenty of potential and youth in our permanent side, here's hoping we can have Ings and Gomez back for the start of the new season had a great start before injury.

{Ed002's Note - Much is expected of him but the addition of Grujic makes Allan’s long-term future as a Liverpool player in doubt.}

31 Mar 2016 19:16:43
Didn't kloop have good things to say about him a couple of weeks back.

31 Mar 2016 19:37:07
Does grujic mean we are unlikely to look for another holding mid when he arrives?

I'm not fussed either way, if klopp thinks he is good enough to start next season then great, but i just hope he does recognise that we need another player of that type insteas of playing Can and henderson and the same time.

{Ed002's Note - I have no idea how Klopp will look to be using Grujic but he can certainly play as a holding midfield player.}

31 Mar 2016 20:54:46
Maybe I'm being idealistic but surely any team that wants to succeed in all comps needs 4 decent centre midfielders? Could Grujic and Allan not be the long term future along with Can and an. other?

01 Apr 2016 21:28:56
Agreed. I think Allens playing well. i'd also be quite happy to give Lucas one of the back 4 spots alongside Sakho, Lovren and Matip, he could always step in for injuries and he's proven more than capable of playing there.

31 Mar 2016 13:55:06
Hi guys tiny update on Ings and Gomez they're both ahead of schedule (Danny more so than Joe) both running and short sprints, for those that may question why I know about Danny Ings it's only because him and Joe are recuperating together.

31 Mar 2016 14:23:46
Top news. Cheers ST

Has Joe mention led anything about any possible outs or ins at the club this summer?

31 Mar 2016 14:29:01

Nice one ST please tell the lads we can't wait to see them back playing.

31 Mar 2016 15:29:51
Give Joe and Danny all our best wishes, great to hear they're recuperating well. :)

31 Mar 2016 19:06:53
Not really gazza apart from the obvious on outgoings.

31 Mar 2016 19:29:16
Thanks Square mate.

31 Mar 2016 20:29:10
Cool, thanks st, give them a fist bump from me the next time u see them.

Cheers for the return ST. Please pass on my beat wishes and a full recovery to both players please buddy.

31 Mar 2016 23:55:17
ST, out of interest does Joe take any interest in the site? Just like to know what players opinions are with some of the name calling some players get.

Baz.

Myself and a few of the lads traveling over from Ireland for the match on Saturday evening against spurs. just wondering we arrive in the city @ 8 in the morning so best places for a few beers before the match. would be appreciated.

Believable1 Unbelievable2

31 Mar 2016 12:13:58
Last time I was there, there was no beer before noon.

31 Mar 2016 13:08:51
I love the Sandon personally. If you are gerting there that early though I'd say visit the docks and the cavern club.

31 Mar 2016 14:40:18
Smoking moes behind the adelphi!

31 Mar 2016 14:42:23
Doctor Duncan's and The Slaughterhouse in town are ok. The Albert and the 12th Man are good just before the game.

31 Mar 2016 15:38:20
If you are after an early drink then there is a pub in the town centre called Kozys. It's a bit rough and smelly but it opens at 7:30 in the morning.

31 Mar 2016 20:54:56
Or the rubber duck. Always let's us in around 7 or 8 in the morning when we get the boat over from Belfast. Don't let the strict dress code sign fool you lol.

31 Mar 2016 19:50:55
Thanks for all the suggestions lads. 👍.

01 Apr 2016 00:11:41
The Slaughterhouse is good, Molly Malone's is my regular though, it's on Victoria street.

01 Apr 2016 03:07:03
Johnnyd sounds like you might be on the same Ryanair flight from Dublin as me mate. Witherspoons in the city centre opens very early for breakfast and i'm sure they sell drink from 9 or 10.

I'm on the 8am flight home Sunday morning so I'll be staying dry.

01 Apr 2016 10:48:50
The Weatherspoons at Concert Square is really cheap as well and worth a look. If you're about in the city centre till midday and after The Fly In The Loaf is worth a go - boss pub, top landlord, and loads of quality real ale (if you're into that sort of thing) .

It's going to be an interesting match this weekend. In different circumstances Spurs would probably play cautiously and hope Kane can dominate our CBs but they need the win which hopefully will encourage a more open game. That should play into our hands and I can see our attack having a field day.

As long as we get the first goal we'll win. Prediction 3-0 with Sturridge scoring 2.

I'm fairly confident going into this one provided
1) we have Can/ Hendo protecting a back four that 2) includes Lovren and Sakho and
3) Coutinho and Firmino fit enough to start.

Did ed001 do that transfer update in the end?

Believable2 Unbelievable3

31 Mar 2016 10:47:51
look in the rumours page.

31 Mar 2016 15:35:37
I had a look, was quite encouraging, no sign of jonas hector though? Must be all paper talk.

31 Mar 2016 15:53:54
Hector has talked up a move to Liverpool before the intern`l break vis bild, saying he`s happy at Koln but if Klopp came calling, he would defo think about it.

31 Mar 2016 09:43:09
Hi Ed001,

I saw you wrote no injury concerns except Gomez and Ings before. Does this mean Rossiter is back?

Believable1 Unbelievable1

{Ed001's Note - he is meant to be yes.}

31 Mar 2016 13:00:49
Cheers. Lucas too then?

{Ed001's Note - yep.}

31 Mar 2016 14:56:15
Cheers pal.

31 Mar 2016 05:40:05
I watched a bit of the Ger vs Italy game, and watched Can came in for Muller. One occasion he was on the left wing, I didn't know he's actually have quite decent pace and speed in him. Then, he was everywhere, right and middle.

Ed01, or any fellow posters, you think what is Can's best positions, the most effective you guys think? He seems to have bags of potential, and looks like a really versatile player.

Opinions?

Believable3 Unbelievable3

{Ed001's Note - central midfield for me.}

31 Mar 2016 05:51:33
With his size, and a bit of tricks, he can be a really decent cm, though not sure much how to say about his passing.

31 Mar 2016 12:08:33
CM for me too. To get the most from him he should be alongside someone who can cover him if he surges forward, and offer an experienced head alongside him in defence, so one of 2 in a 4-2-3-1 suits perfectly.

31 Mar 2016 14:59:24
I see Can as a young Yaya Toure. Box to box non stop action with abit of composed and elegant about his play.

31 Mar 2016 15:37:30
Is that player henderson though zimbo? Because personally i feel hendersons game is restricted by playing the holding role and he and can are similat in some ways. Basically i think we could see him and Can being rotated in the future rather than playing together.

31 Mar 2016 15:54:30
Leave Can where he is.

31 Mar 2016 20:05:44
AQ - i agree, can and hendo are the same player essentially. Their strength in running a marathon each game is nice but the et result is we spnd most of the game scrambling. Clever player will beat that press easily. For me i prefer can and hendo being part of a 4 man midfield where the 3rd cm has more defensive duties. Can or hendo go box to box and then the other can play higher up the pitch. 2x box to box cm doesn't work for me.

31 Mar 2016 05:05:56
Ed`s

N'Golo Kanté well impressed with this guy and his contribution to Leicester City`s fantastic run.
I see Arsenal are sniffing around any chance we could sneak him to us I think he`s a player who would fit right in to Klopp`s style off play runs all day, tackles and steals the ball for fun, chucks in a goal or 2 plus he`s never injured.

Believable2 Unbelievable3

{Ed001's Note - I wish. He has everyone interested in him, he will have his pick if he decides to leave in the summer.}

31 Mar 2016 06:14:36
Kante is a phenomenon a freak of a player. He's is the De Gea of midfielders. An absolute wall. There is not much hope Leicester will keep hold of him if Real, Barca, Arsenal, Chelsea, City of United come in for him. I hope the foxes break the bank to keep him because I would hate to see him lining up for our rivals. I think he'd be amazing at Barcelona or Arsenal.

31 Mar 2016 07:18:42
Looking likely he will leave in the summer. I would say there wouldn't be any harm in registering interest. Depends what's available to him offers wise but also what he wants.

31 Mar 2016 15:59:55
the guy has an engine that is unmatched. He and Drinkwater are the duo that make LC tick because w/ o them, there`s no Mahrez or Vardy. Having one like Kante is good enuff luxury for a tea. Having two along with Drinkwater, is like winning the lottery.

30 Mar 2016 21:31:02
Hi eds, if you wouldn't mind what is your opinion on hector? What do you think his strengths and weaknesses are?

Thank you for your time.

Believable0 Unbelievable2

{Ed001's Note - sorry never seen him play.}

31 Mar 2016 12:09:55
Not even prepared to offer an opinion based on 7mins YouTube clips like everyone else? Hahaha.

30 Mar 2016 13:39:28
For guys who still think of Gotze, let me give the most likely scenario:

Gotze sign for citeh for 50mil euros.

Believable0 Unbelievable23

31 Mar 2016 01:19:46
So Guardiola is going to spend €50m on a player he doesn't even play now?

31 Mar 2016 01:23:45
Definitely not the most likely scenario as the manager who has left him on the bench for two years is going to be the city manager from the start of this summer.

31 Mar 2016 01:44:48
Not sure he is coming to us, BUT why would he consider going to City to play for Pep, when he can't crack Bayern's lineup. Not going to happen. 100% guaranteed.

31 Mar 2016 02:18:52
Not likely, Guardiola doesn't seem to like or trust Gotze and that's why he's getting so little playing time at Bayern. Why would Guardiola even attempt to sign him for such a price?

31 Mar 2016 02:39:30
Ridiculous. A coach who doesn't play him at Bayern will spend 50 on him to play at City?

31 Mar 2016 02:39:30
Ridiculous. A coach who doesn't play him at Bayern will spend 50 on him to play at City?

31 Mar 2016 03:36:56
Theres probably more chance of pep signing me. please explain why he would spend 50 mil euros ( a lot more than what Bayern would be willing sell for) for a player he doesn't pick with 1 year on his contract? he's not even English which doesn't even help them on that front either. zero thought in that post.

31 Mar 2016 04:20:19
ok, fine not citeh:

Gotze sign for Chelsea for 50mil euros.

pt is we not going to get him with all these low balling and
"Klopp factor"

{Ed001's Note - what low balling? We haven't even made any kind of bid, this is purely Goetze trying to engineer a move to us.}

31 Mar 2016 05:42:57
do you think carlo would just let him go without having a look. Carlo is well respected manager and has a big friendly personality with his players and i am pretty sure he will turn around gotze. he has one year on his deal and he probably just wants a better contract. that's all i see there is to it. he shall not move is what i think and LFC would be wasting time, energy and may be money going after him.

Again i would personally love him at liverpool but i don't want this to become a transfer saga which we end up loosing like we have in the past when courting genuine big names. Firstly we should look to buy for areas that need utmost improvement and once that is done chase a glory, marquee, fan pleasing or watever it is called signing.

31 Mar 2016 06:55:00
Ed001 do you really think its Gotze trying to engineer a move to us and not the Klopp actually wants him?

{Ed001's Note - not specifically us, but yes, he is defo trying to get himself a move away, though he is targeting us as a possible destination. All the talk is coming from his end, all the comments about how he loved working with Klopp and would love to do so again etc.}

31 Mar 2016 09:55:58
Hi eds,
of course we have not bid. but trust me they will low ball him and swoosh Chelsea comes in with acceptable bid and off he goes to Chelsea.

{Ed001's Note - I thought you said it was City going to buy him? Now it is Chelsea. I think we can safely say you are just guessing. Personally I don't care, we don't need him and I don't particularly see the point in him signing.}

31 Mar 2016 10:29:27
Who cares if chelsea sign him if we get other players who turn out to be better and we actually need?

People get upset about us missing out on players all the time and only about 40% of them seem to do really well.

31 Mar 2016 10:42:31
Of course we are going to 'low ball him' as you call it, why on earth would be just go straight in and agree to the fee Bayern want! I don't get it why people concern themselves with how we bid or how much we bid for players, who cares. If we get him cheaper than Bayern want great, if we pay what Bayern want for him great. In the end of the day if we do go in for him and get him, whatever we pay for him is irrelevant unless he's a success, if he's crap then it's a bad signing regardless of if it's £30m or £3m! Balotelli was initially regarded as worth a punt at £16m as we could probably recoup a large chunk of the fee back if he wasn't a success, but now with nobody wanting him at all its now looking like a monsterous waste of money!
I personally would love us to sign Gotze and I do think we need him. We will be playing either 2 or 3 behind the lone striker and if its 3 (most favoured) then I'd take Gotze over Lallana any day to join Coutinho and Firmino. I wouldn't be surprised to see Firmino used more as a striker next season so if it is 2 behind the striker then again I would rather Gotze ahead of Lallana to partner Coutinho. If he can re-find his Dortmund form (I think its only a matter of playing consistently and feeling wanted) then he is better than all the no10's we currently have so why wouldn't we want him!

{Ed001's Note - injuries are why we wouldn't want him.}

31 Mar 2016 14:37:38
How bad have his injuries been? Have they been serious long term injuries over a few years or niggly hamstring injuries like Aguero suffers? I used to watch a fair bit of German Football 4/ 5 years ago when he was with Dortmund and I don't remember him having many injuries, but age could be catching up with me and I could just be remembering wrong.

{Ed001's Note - lots of niggly ones, but some have been for months. They are the worst kind to be honest, because they just tend to get worse and more frequent as the tears leave scars.}

31 Mar 2016 16:07:39
Ask Studge if you don`t believe ED01. Personally, I think we can do better than him but we shall see. Klopp won`t just sign him because he begged. Klopp will consider the full picture and what`s best for the club and squad going forward before pulling the trigger. We will have to trust his judgement on this one.

31 Mar 2016 19:28:33
